EU Boards Suspected Russian Shadow Tanker | US News
EU naval forces boarded the oil tanker MV SUN in the Mediterranean, suspecting it’s part of Russia’s elusive “shadow fleet” — a network of vessels dodging sanctions and international oversight. The move, under Operation Irini, aims to enforce maritime law and verify the ship’s true identity and compliance. Originally launched to enforce Libya’s arms embargo, the mission now includes boarding and inspections to curb illicit oil trafficking. This investigation is part of a broader EU strategy to track and disrupt sanctions evasion through global shipping lanes. Listen in comfort:Get a discount…
