- 0:22SPEAKER_00: It's been a rough past few years for a lot of people, but today we set aside our worry and stress and instead set our sights on gratitude.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: So here on Thanksgiving Day, I thought it would be fun to consider five specific things we can be thankful for as writers.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Number one is the opportunities you have today.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: You know there are a lot more opportunities for writers than ever before.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: You have access to virtually everybody on the planet who has an internet connection.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: You can self-publish or you can go with the traditional or hybrid publisher.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: You can blog, podcast, create video, and more with almost no funds that you have to dedicate to those things, or at least they're very inexpensive.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: The opportunities that we have today are absolutely endless as writers.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Number two, the people in your life who support your writing.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: You know, sometimes we're so focused on our goals that we forget about the people who make our writing possible.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: So think about the family, friends, or colleagues who have supported you and helped you along the way.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Then finally, number three, we can be thankful for the incredible tools at our disposal.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Think about how much harder it was 50 or 100 years ago to connect with people and simply get your writing done.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Today you don't even have to type.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: You can just use voice to text on your phone.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: We don't realize how good we have it today.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Well, these are just a few of the things that we can be thankful for as writers.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: So today, as you gather around the dinner table, I hope you'll take a few moments to acknowledge that we indeed live in an incredible time.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: I want to take a moment to thank today's sponsor, Vellum.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: As a writer, you not only want to write great books, you also want them to look professionally formatted and give your reader a great experience.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: If you've ever tried to format a book in Microsoft Word, you know how frustrating it can be to make your book look good using a tool that was never designed for formatting.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: That's why for years, my go-to choice for book formatting software has been Vellum.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Vellum gives you the power to build, style, and preview your book and have more fun than you ever thought possible while doing it.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: It's the go-to choice for indie authors who care about creating beautiful ebooks and print books and want to save tons of time in the process.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Best of all, you can download Vellum and play with your book's formatting to your heart's content.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: You only have to purchase when you're ready to publish.
