- 0:04Speaker 1: To another episode of Not Done a Lot of Football
- 0:07Speaker 1: podcast with myself, Simon Donley and my friend to the right,
- 0:11Speaker 1: and we're elighted to say we have from the world
- 0:14Speaker 1: of broadcasting and fantastic guests.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Guys, good, yeah, good, thanks thanks for having me.
- 0:20Speaker 1: This is nice, lucky to get you. I think you
- 0:23Speaker 1: were up in Scotland so we grabbed you. You've been
- 0:25Speaker 1: at the Celtic Play of the Year awards.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, last night. I'm fresh as a daisy, went
- 0:31Speaker 2: straight to my bed five in the morning. I woke
- 0:34Speaker 2: up and I was You would have thought you were
- 0:37Speaker 2: in a zoo. It was wild. It was a it
- 0:40Speaker 2: was a late night for people, but it was good fun.
- 0:42Speaker 2: It was good fun, and it was one of those
- 0:45Speaker 2: nights whe were like, you don't know how it's going
- 0:46Speaker 2: to be. Obviously, the result for the men and the
- 0:48Speaker 2: women really helped things that weekend. But that was good
- 0:51Speaker 2: and everyone was in good form.
- 0:52Speaker 3: So at the stage of the season, everything's kind of decided,
- 0:56Speaker 3: but it's still so much to go and a.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Wait, even it's like, you guys will feel it more've
- 1:02Speaker 2: been so affiliated with the club, but is it not
- 1:05Speaker 2: a lot more exciting like that little bitter.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Like I think it has. I think it has.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I covered the game yesterday for Celtic TV and I
- 1:15Speaker 1: think my overall feeling after it was a much preferred
- 1:18Speaker 1: plane because you can control a wee bit of it.
- 1:22Speaker 4: See, when you're just like the support watching.
- 1:25Speaker 3: That's the same as management as well, of course it
- 1:27Speaker 3: is you're managing, you're just standing the side hoping every job.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Martin Neale said it last night he
- 1:36Speaker 2: had two heart attacks yesterday, you know, watching that game.
- 1:39Speaker 4: It's coming from the.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Stress of it, Like the stress must never go away.
- 1:43Speaker 2: And I think that when you're down I live down
- 1:45Speaker 2: South and when you come back up the road and
- 1:47Speaker 2: again you're in Glasgow, it's like the pressure cooker. I
- 1:51Speaker 2: know there's pressure on every manager on every team, but
- 1:54Speaker 2: I think it's different. I think it's different in glass
- 1:57Speaker 2: that the pressure is unbelievable because you've got job. It's
- 2:00Speaker 2: not not like finishing seconds good for people. Not in Gladsgow.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It's terrible. You can't finish second so exactly exactly, but yeah,
- 2:09Speaker 2: there was a good feeling in the air last night
- 2:11Speaker 2: and fingers crossed. It's a strong end.
- 2:14Speaker 4: You know.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I'm confident, always have been, but it's just a wild season.
- 2:22Speaker 2: It's wild, you know.
- 2:23Speaker 3: In fact, it was still in just the shouted winning it,
- 2:27Speaker 3: you know, where if you kept Martin in at the
- 2:30Speaker 3: full time where I'm bringing Wilfred and would be points
- 2:34Speaker 3: clear with the league being wrapped up. But in fairness,
- 2:38Speaker 3: Rangers have done were still staying it at all because
- 2:41Speaker 3: they were away outfully changed the manager.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Well, obviously big game then coming up tonight kind of thing.
- 2:48Speaker 2: We'll see how that goes. But it's I don't know,
- 2:51Speaker 2: I feel that obviously a lot's happened to the Hearts
- 2:53Speaker 2: then in the last week and this footage and stuff
- 2:55Speaker 2: going around, But I wonder if that will affect things
- 2:58Speaker 2: ever so slightly. Rangers have obviously been bere with Danny Rowle,
- 3:05Speaker 2: but both Celtic and Rangers have had the most mental seasons,
- 3:08Speaker 2: you know, in terms of like the managers that come
- 3:10Speaker 2: in and it just didn't work.
- 3:12Speaker 1: That's what we'll see another night. If you count, if
- 3:14Speaker 1: you count Martin twice, it's four managers.
- 3:17Speaker 2: And one last night I said, I was like, and
- 3:20Speaker 2: later on tonight we'll vote for your Celtic manager of
- 3:22Speaker 2: the season, Wilfred. Nancy's going to be here. She went
- 3:26Speaker 2: down like shit Samwich. But yeah, just it's been mad.
- 3:32Speaker 2: It's been mad, but it's been interesting. And you know,
- 3:34Speaker 2: working down the road, everybody just makes fun of Scotch
- 3:37Speaker 2: football down there this season or not because it's a
- 3:41Speaker 2: World Cup year, Scotland going to the World Cup. There's
- 3:43Speaker 2: been so many twists and turns in the title raise,
- 3:46Speaker 2: the hire and the fire, and the Martin and Neill
- 3:47Speaker 2: coming back twice. There's a lot more positive, a lot
- 3:51Speaker 2: more interests. We're talking about it every day. You know,
- 3:54Speaker 2: I'm get to change one to come on the show
- 3:56Speaker 2: like it never happens like that down the road. We
- 3:59Speaker 2: always have that dressing that bias for your club. But
- 4:02Speaker 2: actually all of the shows when I'm watching Sky every
- 4:07Speaker 2: everyone's covering the Scotch title race. So that's a good
- 4:10Speaker 2: thing that is about.
- 4:10Speaker 1: That brings in to my next question then, so what
- 4:12Speaker 1: happened Obviously last week the big cast obviously went over
- 4:16Speaker 1: his head.
- 4:18Speaker 5: Did you hear this?
- 4:19Speaker 4: Oh god, can I set the scene?
- 4:22Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 4:22Speaker 1: So obviously seven forty five he asked me to come
- 4:24Speaker 1: on and it's on a zoom call. So I've got up,
- 4:28Speaker 1: got my coffee, I've got two shoe boxes, he's all
- 4:31Speaker 1: ready to go to get my phone at high level
- 4:33Speaker 1: with the we vis at the back, and I'm ready
- 4:35Speaker 1: to go and to producer. So it is like thirty
- 4:36Speaker 1: second Simon to your on and then you get me
- 4:38Speaker 1: a lovely welcome, and then casts.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Started talking about Brentford.
- 4:43Speaker 1: He's looked at his notes and he's like, so Fulham
- 4:45Speaker 1: and I'm I thought I was getting pranked.
- 4:49Speaker 4: And then you you jumped him, didn't He says.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Like, And the thing is he knew that because he
- 4:55Speaker 2: knows you.
- 4:57Speaker 5: Is script is an Exltic player.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Said Brentford Fulham, which was a week old script that
- 5:03Speaker 2: still managed to stay in there and what as we
- 5:06Speaker 2: faced plus it was but I'm sorry, but yeah, that
- 5:11Speaker 2: was that was a classic that just so happened.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Where is it going?
- 5:15Speaker 2: Big Brentford fan, big fan of that was one of
- 5:22Speaker 2: those slight radio So there is.
- 5:24Speaker 1: An interest there because it is a unprecedented three three
- 5:29Speaker 1: teams with four games to go still in there.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Who could all win it? I love that and the
- 5:36Speaker 2: fact that it could go down to go difference even
- 5:38Speaker 2: whatever like that. You know that's where we need your
- 5:40Speaker 2: shooting boots on. But I think it's it's changed a
- 5:45Speaker 2: lot even talking about where is the young Scottish talent.
- 5:48Speaker 2: You guys will know this more than me. There's such
- 5:52Speaker 2: a focus on that down south and I probably don't
- 5:54Speaker 2: want to hear a lot about down south, but there's
- 5:56Speaker 2: such a focus on that. And I think this title
- 5:59Speaker 2: race and this has been a World Cup year, surely
- 6:02Speaker 2: we're going to see these young kids coming through wherever
- 6:04Speaker 2: they are, you know, like it's it's there's less of
- 6:06Speaker 2: a focus on these young talents coming through. Why is that?
- 6:10Speaker 3: I think the opportunities to go down there. I think
- 6:14Speaker 3: what you're seeing now is most of the clubs in
- 6:16Speaker 3: England they're taking them, trying to get them early it's sixteen,
- 6:19Speaker 3: get them into their academy. So it's actually like two
- 6:23Speaker 3: separate parts to their their you know, their club.
- 6:26Speaker 5: So they've one for the financial fair play.
- 6:29Speaker 3: So then selling a player that comes to the academy,
- 6:31Speaker 3: they can then spend three.
- 6:32Speaker 5: Times on the financial you know, for their transfers.
- 6:36Speaker 3: It's not necessarily buying all these kids to go down
- 6:39Speaker 3: and maybe not play for that team, you know, to
- 6:42Speaker 3: develop them and then move them on to make ways.
- 6:44Speaker 4: So the boy went down to Spouse for Hearts.
- 6:47Speaker 5: The boy to getting the first team striker Wilson James Wilson. Yeah,
- 6:52Speaker 5: so it's not actually to buy them for SPUs. Sometimes
- 6:55Speaker 5: you do get through, but you've seen over the years
- 6:59Speaker 5: with Chelsea they've been really big at man City and
- 7:02Speaker 5: then all the other clubs are now are starting to
- 7:04Speaker 5: do it. They're starting to look at the Scottish mark,
- 7:06Speaker 5: at the young kids and you're seeing kids from Scotland
- 7:09Speaker 5: like going away to Italy now as well. Yeah, because
- 7:13Speaker 5: he breaks it and then going back to England.
- 7:15Speaker 2: You wonder if that's then another problem. I'm sure it was.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Ali McCoys had said there was a Rangers game this
- 7:20Speaker 2: season in Europe but there wasn't one Strangers player who Scottish. Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 2: that's mad, like that should be protected cause we get it.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's been times as well. Celtic we've got
- 7:30Speaker 1: one or two as well. But we did a thing
- 7:34Speaker 1: the other night and we were talking about you know,
- 7:36Speaker 1: for me my position in the.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Field, like strikers, there's no real strikers.
- 7:41Speaker 1: I've come through either side of Glasgow for a long
- 7:44Speaker 1: time because it's one of these ones where any.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Player come through.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Now it's defender that you tear these coming through but
- 7:50Speaker 1: there's no strikers. It's it's one where you can I
- 7:54Speaker 1: scratch your head a wee bit about it. Yeah, maloney,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I think was the last.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Even the young player a year young player, he's done
- 8:00Speaker 5: a good season that range the boy mechl More. He's onloan.
- 8:03Speaker 5: If you've taught them, yeah you know Scottish, you know
- 8:05Speaker 5: what I mean. But they're coming.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Because of the because of the league. And it's difficult
- 8:11Speaker 3: for these teams to put young kids in because there's
- 8:15Speaker 3: nothing really in between the academy stuff and playing the
- 8:19Speaker 3: first team. It's such a massive jump whereas when we
- 8:23Speaker 3: grew up, you played the reserves and you play against
- 8:26Speaker 3: senior players at a young age.
- 8:31Speaker 5: And now it's stopped. It just you've seen more and
- 8:34Speaker 5: more kids going out of the game earlier that should
- 8:38Speaker 5: have careers.
- 8:39Speaker 2: It's a shame of it. It's a shame I feel
- 8:41Speaker 2: that they even we were talking recently about the broadcast
- 8:44Speaker 2: deal and stuff, how the money is so little up here,
- 8:46Speaker 2: like the Sky deal isn't worth an awful lot. But
- 8:49Speaker 2: then you would think negotiations probably willerhap soon for the
- 8:52Speaker 2: next deal in this title race would push the market.
- 8:55Speaker 2: There's going to be more money to the clubs, which
- 8:57Speaker 2: might help.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Which will help, we'd think so because I think I
- 9:02Speaker 1: go back to my team when I was down. So
- 9:03Speaker 1: if they do a kind of look down the those
- 9:05Speaker 1: a bit of the Scottish game and I think that
- 9:07Speaker 1: likes a Celtic running away with it. Every year you
- 9:11Speaker 1: just think it's easy, which obviously hasn't because you've still
- 9:13Speaker 1: got to beat what's in front of you. But I
- 9:15Speaker 1: think this year it just generates that interest with the
- 9:18Speaker 1: three teams still fighting out.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Yeah, nobody for the heart, but interesting.
- 9:23Speaker 2: It's it's been crazy. You know, you've not felt relief
- 9:27Speaker 2: like it, you know, even yesterday with a game.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Even thank god.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Yeah, if you drop, that's it, you're kind of you're
- 9:34Speaker 2: ruling yourself out of it. You know it's that close now.
- 9:39Speaker 2: So yeah, good, good, good result of the weekend. Guys,
- 9:41Speaker 2: we're still still well.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Just be your work then obviously you were up doing
- 9:45Speaker 1: that last night. Do you find now getting off of
- 9:47Speaker 1: the border, where do you originally from?
- 9:48Speaker 2: You I'm from drum Chapel, right, old drum Chapel. Try
- 9:52Speaker 2: to lift my streak credit I'll see drum Chapel.
- 9:54Speaker 4: So do you find it's always in a professional capacity
- 9:57Speaker 4: Euro up here.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Now at the moment I try to come up and
- 9:59Speaker 2: bring my kids to Obviously my mother sisters still here,
- 10:03Speaker 2: my brother, my mum and dad, all my family are
- 10:05Speaker 2: still here, apart from my twin sister. She's down southa
- 10:08Speaker 2: stern Albans next to me. And so I try to
- 10:11Speaker 2: come back a lot.

- 10:44Speaker 3: Peter Grant, Joe Miller, Alan Thompson and Tommy Johnson.
- 10:49Speaker 5: And yeah, the link is in a description and back
- 10:55Speaker 5: to the episode.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Said yeah, and bring the kids and come up for
- 10:59Speaker 2: you know, the holidays and whatever. But I come up
- 11:02Speaker 2: now for a lot of work, which is great. Like
- 11:05Speaker 2: last night, I swear to you when you're getting ready
- 11:08Speaker 2: and Paddy gunnings singing You'll never walk alone? And how
- 11:12Speaker 2: am I hosting Celtic Nights? You know, it's like it's
- 11:14Speaker 2: such like a pinchby moment. You know that one of
- 11:16Speaker 2: the biggest clubs in the world. I would say, you
- 11:19Speaker 2: get to host these nights, so it's it's always nice
- 11:21Speaker 2: came back up and do things like that as well.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Love it. And Paddy was singing. We were discussing that, so.
- 11:27Speaker 2: None of us knew the Paddy was a singer. You
- 11:30Speaker 2: may get Paddy on I Actually I don't get the
- 11:34Speaker 2: fear much because I don't go out out anymore. But
- 11:38Speaker 2: you know, when you see him like encouraging your great
- 11:41Speaker 2: last night, don't worry about it. And I was like, okay,
- 11:45Speaker 2: when I saw him, I was like, you sing and
- 11:48Speaker 2: he sings at park Head and everything, so I didn't
- 11:49Speaker 2: know you had that. Yeah, he's got a good voice
- 11:53Speaker 2: as well, better than you do.
- 11:58Speaker 1: And you're just fresh off the I'll touch on your
- 12:00Speaker 1: marathon as well, because when I first asked you to
- 12:02Speaker 1: come on here, obviously training for that says.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Right, let's get that out of the way before we
- 12:07Speaker 4: may try and get you on.
- 12:08Speaker 2: How did you have you guys done?
- 12:09Speaker 1: One No, isn't it all the time, don't you back in.
- 12:13Speaker 4: My mind my dad did them when he was younger.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But then when you were telling me, I think we
- 12:20Speaker 1: come off the phone and you were saying you were
- 12:21Speaker 1: just going for an eighteen mile Yeah, how long did
- 12:24Speaker 1: that take you?
- 12:25Speaker 5: That?
- 12:26Speaker 2: Four days? I think I'm a really slow runner and
- 12:31Speaker 2: I don't walk it, always run. But I've got no
- 12:35Speaker 2: I've got no pace, I've lost the yard. So I
- 12:38Speaker 2: really took it easy with the training. But I had
- 12:40Speaker 2: like a chat GBT plan where I put in my shifts,
- 12:43Speaker 2: the kids, everything that need to be done, and it
- 12:45Speaker 2: told me over like five months to do your long
- 12:48Speaker 2: runs and your short runs and build up. So I
- 12:50Speaker 2: went up to eighteen miles and that was maybe about
- 12:53Speaker 2: a month before the marathon, and then the short the
- 12:57Speaker 2: shorter runs. I was even looking, God, I'm slow. The
- 13:01Speaker 2: marathon on the day took me six hours on the dot,
- 13:05Speaker 2: and my dad was there at the end. And Dad
- 13:08Speaker 2: did five marathons between three hours twenty and three hours
- 13:11Speaker 2: for and he's like this slight guy. And honestly there
- 13:16Speaker 2: was people. There's a woman who was thirty weeks pregnant
- 13:18Speaker 2: who overtook me and I was like, right, get back,
- 13:21Speaker 2: you know, but it's amazing. What if you should do it?
- 13:25Speaker 2: If it's in the back of your mind, We'll do it,
- 13:27Speaker 2: Jackie Man, nothing still cry about it. I went on
- 13:32Speaker 2: holiday with my husband the day later. It was his birthday,
- 13:34Speaker 2: so we went to Poach Goal the next morning, and
- 13:36Speaker 2: that was one way you recover because you could just
- 13:39Speaker 2: sit back, pool and rest. But I would be sitting
- 13:44Speaker 2: and croly again, just the emotions. It wrecks your body
- 13:49Speaker 2: as well. I saw a good clip actually came up
- 13:51Speaker 2: on Instagram because it felt like everyone did the marathon.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Everyone did it that day. It was like so many
- 13:56Speaker 2: people on your timeline had done it, and they're like
- 14:00Speaker 2: four hours twenty eight, you know, three ors fifty six.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I'm like Jesus, like I put I really trained. I
- 14:06Speaker 2: felt like I put everything into it, and when I
- 14:09Speaker 2: crossed the finish line, that was when I realized, oh,
- 14:11Speaker 2: I want to do more, which is through the training
- 14:14Speaker 2: I've applied for September Berlin.
- 14:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:17Speaker 2: As do you know that if you do the six
- 14:20Speaker 2: original major marathons, you go into the marathon Hall of
- 14:24Speaker 2: Fame and you get six in the New York Chicago Boston, London,
- 14:29Speaker 2: Berlin and Tokyo. So if you do all of those,
- 14:33Speaker 2: I'm thinking if I could do them all before I'm
- 14:34Speaker 2: forty and like always.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Have something to do, then.
- 14:38Speaker 2: The minute I finished it, because I thought the boarding
- 14:42Speaker 2: bit was training on your own and the weather was
- 14:44Speaker 2: shot here it was freezing. It was always raining one
- 14:47Speaker 2: day and then on marathon day, like that's your that's
- 14:51Speaker 2: your reward. Because I mean for London, it's it's like
- 14:53Speaker 2: a carnival, guys, there's not.
- 14:55Speaker 1: One bit of what I remember my dad. I think
- 14:59Speaker 1: my dad did five London kids ruined, so all the
- 15:02Speaker 1: sights and stuff, but it was the crowd. I think
- 15:05Speaker 1: that adrenaline, the moment gets you, gets you going.
- 15:07Speaker 2: You're not alone, you're not alone at all, And I
- 15:12Speaker 2: think then that's it. You realize that you're twenty miles
- 15:15Speaker 2: in and I haven't put my music on. Do you
- 15:18Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 15:18Speaker 4: That you are?
- 15:19Speaker 2: You're smiling and everyone everyone's like GENI, there's brilliant signs.
- 15:23Speaker 2: There was a drag queen stage. All the fire brigades
- 15:27Speaker 2: are out, you know, shooting you with your the hose
- 15:30Speaker 2: and all that, and everyone's out on the streets singing
- 15:33Speaker 2: and putting on concerts and stuff. It's not a normal
- 15:38Speaker 2: experiences for me. It was a bucket list thing. And
- 15:41Speaker 2: then the minute it finished, I thought, well, I'd like
- 15:43Speaker 2: to have more days like this, you know, like to
- 15:45Speaker 2: put yourself through that and train and work towards something
- 15:48Speaker 2: and then we like get a medal at the end
- 15:51Speaker 2: of it was like quite a proud moment.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Did you see the guy's time that I just let.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Him Sebastian saw a fifty nine.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Splintered for the fill twenty six miles.
- 16:04Speaker 2: He's doing something that for four k for minute care
- 16:07Speaker 2: or something for miles or something.
- 16:10Speaker 5: I should we do it?
- 16:14Speaker 2: Just do it.
- 16:15Speaker 5: We've done.
- 16:16Speaker 3: We're on camera just we've done four year ago for
- 16:19Speaker 3: phil Or old Onald. We went, We've done. It's the
- 16:23Speaker 3: hardest thing I've ever we've ever done. Oh they Quota
- 16:26Speaker 3: Pacte you know the avenue the volcanoes. Oh yeah, twenty
- 16:30Speaker 3: thousand feet climbing. But you can't prepare.
- 16:33Speaker 2: For it, squere, how are you going to get it?
- 16:35Speaker 3: And that was just training. It was I would never
- 16:37Speaker 3: do altitude again. Yeah, it was horrible.
- 16:40Speaker 2: What's good about London It's the Flats Marathon. You can
- 16:43Speaker 2: do so even if you're training and you're going up
- 16:45Speaker 2: down hells and give you that extra prep for the day.
- 16:48Speaker 2: If Celtic won the league, you two do the London
- 16:50Speaker 2: Marathon next.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it come on, it's the double.
- 16:58Speaker 5: Just the league, no bothers.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Celtic. When something this season, you too, you will love it.
- 17:05Speaker 4: They don't need to apply really early though.
- 17:07Speaker 2: You know people, you know people, could you do Jackie?
- 17:14Speaker 2: I would do together. I was lonely, like that was
- 17:17Speaker 2: the one bit. I was like, this is long, Like
- 17:19Speaker 2: it's just on your own for training yourself as well,
- 17:21Speaker 2: completely alone.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's that's hard going.
- 17:25Speaker 1: But it was just that when I came off the
- 17:27Speaker 1: fourth thing eighty she's away for eighteen mile, I think
- 17:30Speaker 1: it was pissing down.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Just a long day running in the passion rain, going
- 17:34Speaker 2: nowhere fast, gels, pain and bushes all that, Like yeah,
- 17:41Speaker 2: but like the best thing ever, That's what I'm thinking of.
- 17:44Speaker 2: You've got this kind of and are like, oh, I
- 17:46Speaker 2: think I'd quite like to do that. You will love him,
- 17:49Speaker 2: You will absolutely love it.
- 17:51Speaker 4: I mean you've heard it here first go on, then
- 17:55Speaker 4: we're committee.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Then Celtic one.
- 17:59Speaker 4: When Celtic one.
- 18:00Speaker 2: And yeah when Celtic when you guys applied for the marathon,
- 18:04Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, get the new trail, Get mister basting saws trainers.
- 18:09Speaker 2: By the way, I read an article by a journalists
- 18:12Speaker 2: the other day who got the trainers that he ran in.
- 18:14Speaker 2: There was a disk kind of a rad thats what
- 18:16Speaker 2: would we still big chunky soul and apparently took minutes
- 18:26Speaker 2: minutes off his so his like usual he did like
- 18:29Speaker 2: ten k and apparently, so we need these trainers. I
- 18:32Speaker 2: did this if you are.
- 18:33Speaker 5: What's just running running for you?
- 18:37Speaker 1: The next this podcast where spoke and talked to ourselves,
- 18:41Speaker 1: an't well look at that.
- 18:43Speaker 3: And I was going to go back and get fitting
- 18:45Speaker 3: and play against the Guy for the Darkness and all
- 18:48Speaker 3: we're making promises five A sides for the Guy for
- 18:52Speaker 3: the Darkning, drafting.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Jackie and if the out this year, they'll play football
- 19:00Speaker 2: and all that together and you don't play anymore now.
- 19:04Speaker 1: When I can, and the odd charity again. But I
- 19:08Speaker 1: prefer the pictures are getting bigger and bigger.
- 19:13Speaker 5: I've had one game since my aneurism. I've never know
- 19:17Speaker 5: that I headed the ball anyway, but I've never.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Can you not know? Then?
- 19:22Speaker 5: Is that I don't know? They never nobody in your
- 19:24Speaker 5: last saying, nobody really tells you what you can and
- 19:27Speaker 5: can't do. Obviously, I just take asping every day for
- 19:29Speaker 5: my stint in my head, and I've got a shunt
- 19:32Speaker 5: as well, But nobody kind of tells you what you
- 19:36Speaker 5: can can't do when you're recovering or getting back to
- 19:39Speaker 5: kind of some kind of normality.
- 19:40Speaker 2: What's that called? What you've got? What is the term
- 19:43Speaker 2: of it?
- 19:43Speaker 4: Or that I had?
- 19:45Speaker 3: It was a ski hemorrhage. It was abit same as
- 19:48Speaker 3: what Davy Cooper had. Wow, And then it was a
- 19:53Speaker 3: girl for a Game of Thrones. She actually did it
- 19:55Speaker 3: twice most of speech and came back because she's sut
- 19:59Speaker 3: up a charity the same you charity with people there,
- 20:04Speaker 3: because that's one thing after it. You know, you're kind
- 20:08Speaker 3: of left your own devices went after the hospital was
- 20:10Speaker 3: brilliant HS.
- 20:12Speaker 5: Yeah, neurosurgeons.
- 20:13Speaker 3: But when you get home, it you just you don't
- 20:16Speaker 3: know what to think or what to feel, or what
- 20:19Speaker 3: you should what you shouldn't do, or because your personality
- 20:23Speaker 3: kind of changes as well. It's a long, long process.
- 20:27Speaker 3: But they said, there's up a charity there to help others,
- 20:30Speaker 3: so mayboy.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Do that that's you to do the marathon. That you
- 20:34Speaker 2: could do it for that Yeah, absolute, because its obviously
- 20:36Speaker 2: close to your heart, means a lot to you, affected
- 20:38Speaker 2: you and your famish.
- 20:39Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely right done.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Let's do it, guys one the marathon. There we come
- 20:44Speaker 2: one of the last April next year.
- 20:48Speaker 4: To change the subject, we're doing that.
- 20:50Speaker 5: I'm not.
- 20:52Speaker 4: So where how did you get into broad It was
- 20:55Speaker 4: always was always spot.
- 20:57Speaker 2: No, no, it was Clyde one. I was at cly
- 21:00Speaker 2: On my work experience when I was sixty. So there
- 21:05Speaker 2: was a My mum worked in mccormicks, which was a
- 21:08Speaker 2: music shop in town. They had a client of somebody
- 21:11Speaker 2: at Clyde and I always wanted to work in the radio.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Just loved listening to the radio. I was that little
- 21:16Speaker 2: nerd that used to text the radio station all the
- 21:18Speaker 2: time and all that when I was young. You're not
- 21:20Speaker 2: a nerd if you do that's fine, keep doing that.
- 21:22Speaker 2: But my mum then managed to get my work experience
- 21:25Speaker 2: later to somebody and then I managed to get in
- 21:29Speaker 2: touch with them one day and I went in for
- 21:31Speaker 2: a week's work experience and I didn't leave after that.
- 21:33Speaker 2: I just I couldn't. I didn't want to do anything
- 21:37Speaker 2: else but being there. I was bitch in school, to
- 21:39Speaker 2: be honest, I not like smart at all, and I'll
- 21:42Speaker 2: look it miles off it. And when I got in there,
- 21:47Speaker 2: I knew that that's what I wanted to do, like
- 21:50Speaker 2: being an environment like that. And you know Gavin Pearson,
- 21:54Speaker 2: You know Gavin Pearson. Oh we heart brong to be frairs.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I have fans with his mark. But he was on
- 22:00Speaker 2: air one day and he let me press like the
- 22:02Speaker 2: buttons coming out of the break and I was like,
- 22:04Speaker 2: oh my god, what buzz? What buzz? And when I
- 22:09Speaker 2: turned seventeen, I got my kind of first work experience
- 22:12Speaker 2: kind of then on the street team out handing out
- 22:14Speaker 2: pens and whatever when there used to be budgets for
- 22:16Speaker 2: that in the workplace and kind of promote and Clyde
- 22:20Speaker 2: and stuff out on the streets and in the shopping
- 22:22Speaker 2: center street team stuff, and then kind of then went
- 22:26Speaker 2: in said do desk oping with Tiger Tim and working
- 22:29Speaker 2: on his show. And then I managed to get on
- 22:31Speaker 2: air doing the travel so I was a travel reporter
- 22:34Speaker 2: at the beginning and then got shows and stuff, so
- 22:36Speaker 2: it was great, like I was on every really young.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Then I thought I was big ticket. Knew everything, but
- 22:41Speaker 2: I didn't like in reflection, I think it was pretty
- 22:43Speaker 2: brave of them to let me anywhere near.
- 22:44Speaker 4: So even in there was kind of work experience at
- 22:47Speaker 4: the start and.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Just yeah, didn't didn't look, couldn't. Life was obsessed with
- 22:50Speaker 2: the place. I would do anything like I would do
- 22:52Speaker 2: anything in there, and they were always really good to me.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I think now about kind of anyone trying to get
- 22:59Speaker 2: on workp so known what they want, like it's hard
- 23:01Speaker 2: to get in there, and when you get in there,
- 23:04Speaker 2: they were so good to me. They really looked after
- 23:06Speaker 2: me and kind of made me feel like that they
- 23:11Speaker 2: wanted me to be part of it. And you know,
- 23:13Speaker 2: I was local from the area and whatever worked with
- 23:15Speaker 2: Bowie for years and Susie and Robin when he had
- 23:20Speaker 2: come over and stuff, and I just it was such
- 23:22Speaker 2: a good time. But I left there when I was
- 23:25Speaker 2: twenty one, so I was really young, you know at
- 23:27Speaker 2: the time. And then I went down south and at
- 23:29Speaker 2: that point then it was Loraine, you know, Lraene Kelly.
- 23:33Speaker 2: She had a daybreak morning show and Duncany worked at
- 23:37Speaker 2: Clyde set me up with her for a cupa and
- 23:40Speaker 2: I watched her show, and we were in the TV
- 23:42Speaker 2: studio and like I was sitting on that like daybreak
- 23:45Speaker 2: sofa watching her, you know, do our live TV show,
- 23:47Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, this is amazing, this is brilliant.
- 23:50Speaker 2: And she sent me an email that night saying there's
- 23:53Speaker 2: a job opening here for the green room for the
- 23:57Speaker 2: look for a green room host, which is like really
- 23:59Speaker 2: a kind of quified runner. You're bringing in the guests,
- 24:02Speaker 2: making sure they've been to make up, make sure they've
- 24:03Speaker 2: got a taxi out, tease, coffeeses, the rest of it.
- 24:06Speaker 2: And I did that for a year. When I got
- 24:09Speaker 2: that job, I was buzzing because I just then moved
- 24:11Speaker 2: to London and I thought from everything I'd done in
- 24:14Speaker 2: radio in Scotland that I would have gotten a job
- 24:17Speaker 2: miles off it. I was nowhere near it. Kind of
- 24:20Speaker 2: thing down there, and then kind of worked my way
- 24:23Speaker 2: up then through Good Morning Britain and working on those shows,
- 24:26Speaker 2: and then started doing reporting there and that's when I
- 24:28Speaker 2: started to cover sport a lot more. And then when
- 24:33Speaker 2: COVID happened, my sister and her partner at the time
- 24:37Speaker 2: lived with us and we did a women's football podcast
- 24:40Speaker 2: together because there was at that point Sky just got
- 24:43Speaker 2: the rights to the Women's Super League. So they were footballers.
- 24:47Speaker 2: My sister played football as long as we can remember.
- 24:51Speaker 2: And they gave me all their contacts and I had
- 24:53Speaker 2: this really lovely women's football podcast and that was the
- 24:56Speaker 2: kind of start of going into Talk Sport and working
- 24:58Speaker 2: with them and talk sports like that. It's the best
- 25:01Speaker 2: place in the world, it really is. It's again, it's back,
- 25:05Speaker 2: and it's like radio first, but everything now is like
- 25:07Speaker 2: all multimedia and we're now on TV and smart TVs
- 25:12Speaker 2: and all that kind of stuff. And but in terms
- 25:15Speaker 2: of like just radio and the conversations and the people
- 25:17Speaker 2: you see and like the stars that walk through the doors,
- 25:20Speaker 2: it is unbelievable.
- 25:21Speaker 4: It's the best.
- 25:22Speaker 2: It's the best industry. It's the best place.
- 25:24Speaker 4: I went from that.
- 25:24Speaker 1: So you did the women's podcasting and then something an
- 25:28Speaker 1: opportunity came up.
- 25:29Speaker 2: It I just I just badgered them. There was I
- 25:32Speaker 2: found anyone who worked to talk sport on Twitter, and
- 25:35Speaker 2: I would just send the messages pure creep. I'd always
- 25:38Speaker 2: do that. That's why I always reply to people now
- 25:40Speaker 2: because then somebody replied to me. His name is Joe Amflett.
- 25:43Speaker 2: He's my boss. And he got back to me and
- 25:46Speaker 2: I took him for a coffee and I sent him
- 25:48Speaker 2: my demos that night, and the next week they put
- 25:52Speaker 2: me on breakfast with Alan Rozeld in the paper Review.
- 25:56Speaker 2: So yeah, instantly they just again looked after you so
- 26:00Speaker 2: that you could offer something. That point, women's football was
- 26:02Speaker 2: starting to grow, and then it was Joe said to me,
- 26:06Speaker 2: don't just stick to women's football, you know, try and
- 26:09Speaker 2: cover as much as you can. And I had been
- 26:12Speaker 2: a presenter then for a long time at that point,
- 26:14Speaker 2: so it was kind of transitioning into just sport, but
- 26:18Speaker 2: all sport, like being across it all. And they put
- 26:21Speaker 2: me on a kind of development pathway on talkSPORT two
- 26:24Speaker 2: and it's kind of all gone from there. So I
- 26:28Speaker 2: do a cat. Talksport's a beast, like even you come
- 26:32Speaker 2: up here, it's an absolute beast and you realize how
- 26:35Speaker 2: big it is. So yeah, I'm always always, nine times
- 26:40Speaker 2: out of ten, at least once a month I text
- 26:42Speaker 2: Jo like, thank you for changing my life because I
- 26:44Speaker 2: never thought I'd working sport ever, never ever thought. Even
- 26:48Speaker 2: though my sister was always in sport from a NY.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Sport family, she obviously football.
- 26:52Speaker 2: You didn't that's an Irish dancer, twenty two years of
- 26:56Speaker 2: Irish dancing. That was that was what I did. I
- 26:58Speaker 2: used to get dragged to watch her gay when I
- 27:00Speaker 2: was young, Paisley saying this, and now I look back
- 27:04Speaker 2: and I'm like that I've seen the journey. Like, that's
- 27:06Speaker 2: why women's football is so important to me, because I've
- 27:09Speaker 2: seen from age five six my sister with a ball
- 27:14Speaker 2: and my dad and mum taking her anywhere they possibly
- 27:18Speaker 2: could because she loved it and she was good at
- 27:19Speaker 2: it and those opportunities weren't there kind of thing. And
- 27:24Speaker 2: she's still in it. I mean she's still there. Just
- 27:27Speaker 2: got promotion with Palace to WSL one and I think
- 27:30Speaker 2: when you've seen the transition of it all and how
- 27:34Speaker 2: she's managed to have a career out of it when
- 27:36Speaker 2: so little managed to get a career. I know it's
- 27:39Speaker 2: the same as men's football, but it means so much
- 27:41Speaker 2: to me that it gets spoken about in the right light,
- 27:45Speaker 2: you know. I know, sometimes the quality is not there,
- 27:47Speaker 2: sometimes the standard's not there, but me like there's not
- 27:52Speaker 2: a lot of support for it either, So that's why
- 27:54Speaker 2: that means a lot to me. Talk it was kind
- 27:56Speaker 2: of yeah, yeah.
- 28:00Speaker 1: And I always thought, as well, we are the Talks
- 28:03Speaker 1: boat stuff, so that you do that breakfast show.
- 28:05Speaker 4: I've heard you in the midweek mornings as well, Alan Brazil.
- 28:09Speaker 4: How does that work for you? Did they tell you
- 28:12Speaker 4: at the start of the month or do you fill in?
- 28:13Speaker 2: No, I'm well Alan's obviously, so it's Jeff Stelling and
- 28:17Speaker 2: Ali McCoys Manview Tuesday and then Ali's every morning. I think.
- 28:22Speaker 2: So he's got a bedroom there, you know what he's like,
- 28:24Speaker 2: He's everywhere. That's what I love about Ali is there's
- 28:29Speaker 2: nobody with a work ethic like it. Nobody you know,
- 28:32Speaker 2: he will, I hope he just might say it. But
- 28:34Speaker 2: he'll work in the morning and then he'll be in
- 28:36Speaker 2: a car and he'll be driving up to Newcastle and
- 28:39Speaker 2: then he'll cover in Newcastle's game and he'll be in
- 28:41Speaker 2: the studio the next morning. You know. He just he
- 28:43Speaker 2: loves it. He absolutely loves it. So sometimes I think
- 28:45Speaker 2: I'm tired and I'm like, wait, how is Ali doing it?
- 28:47Speaker 5: You know?
- 28:49Speaker 4: Does it structural for you? Then? Is it a monthly thing?
- 28:52Speaker 4: Is it a weekly thing? Do you know?
- 28:54Speaker 2: I am weekend breakfast some Friday, Saturday, Sunday early breakfast Friday.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Alan hadn't been keeping too well late he had been
- 29:00Speaker 2: feeling well, so I was kind of covering him on
- 29:03Speaker 2: the odd Friday and then Saturday Sundays the weekend show.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Now I cover with casts and yeah, then I kind
- 29:11Speaker 2: of cover where I can kind of thing. I have
- 29:14Speaker 2: other work and other bits going on. But now being
- 29:17Speaker 2: on the weekend, it's good because I've got young kids,
- 29:19Speaker 2: so I can focus then on being with the kids
- 29:22Speaker 2: and focusing on them on the week and then work
- 29:24Speaker 2: on the weekends. And Jamie's got the kids on the weekend.
- 29:26Speaker 2: So it's just it's mental like some I don't even
- 29:29Speaker 2: know what that is today. It changes all the time.
- 29:33Speaker 2: This week's a busy week because I'm covering Alan Wednesa, Thursday, Friday,
- 29:36Speaker 2: and then Saturday Sunday. So early starts, lots going on, sleeping,
- 29:41Speaker 2: you're dead, that kind of stuff.
- 29:43Speaker 4: Was about to say as well.
- 29:44Speaker 1: So early starts ass easily that busy all the time.
- 29:50Speaker 2: The last two years before I did the Weekends was
- 29:52Speaker 2: the early Breakfast Show, and that was five days a week,
- 29:55Speaker 2: and that was building up to the Breakfast Show. So
- 29:59Speaker 2: you went on here at five, so I was up
- 30:00Speaker 2: at quarter to three five days a week for two years,
- 30:04Speaker 2: and that because when I was young, I would have
- 30:07Speaker 2: always done shifts, always didn't bother me. I would DJ
- 30:09Speaker 2: in a nightclub and then being a breakfast show for
- 30:12Speaker 2: like six in the morning, and it never bothered me.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Now I'm just feeling old and tired, body creaks and
- 30:21Speaker 2: all that.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Oh god, I'm washing the winter, I suppose as well,
- 30:24Speaker 3: when it's dark, getting up dark and getting them back dark,
- 30:27Speaker 3: it's totally different.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that was. It's like a depression at times, like
- 30:32Speaker 2: you're it's pitch black in the morning, and then I
- 30:34Speaker 2: go home and I sleep in the day and then
- 30:36Speaker 2: you wake up you're on the school run and it's dark.
- 30:39Speaker 2: That kind of stuff like that. Juggle was hard, but
- 30:42Speaker 2: now it's certainly a lot more balanced. And as as
- 30:45Speaker 2: a mum, I felt that with the opportunities I was getting,
- 30:48Speaker 2: you can't say no, you know, I don't. I don't
- 30:51Speaker 2: want to say no to anything. But then also, I'm
- 30:54Speaker 2: not going to have six year old wins forever, and
- 30:56Speaker 2: then they get to that age and I'm like, I
- 30:58Speaker 2: want to press pause. And then you know, the World
- 31:00Speaker 2: Cup's coming up, and I'm so lucky that I get
- 31:02Speaker 2: to go to that like him cup working at it. Yeah,
- 31:06Speaker 2: we talk Sport and you get like the best seat
- 31:09Speaker 2: in the house and in with the.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Camp and the Scotland campaign.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Oh, Scotland's campaign. It's a couple of weeks, but it's
- 31:19Speaker 2: something like three and a half week's minimum the way
- 31:21Speaker 2: it work out. So my husband's just like losing his mind.
- 31:25Speaker 2: He's like, don't, don't go for that long. But that's
- 31:28Speaker 2: the way. Then you're like, well you're missing a lot,
- 31:31Speaker 2: but you're getting these experiences that you'll never get again.
- 31:35Speaker 2: You know, you'll never ever get it. So I feel
- 31:37Speaker 2: very lucky. I feel like a really lucky place in
- 31:39Speaker 2: my life and very grateful for everything that's happening. You know.
- 31:42Speaker 4: There's the characters and Talk Sport. I listened to it,
- 31:44Speaker 4: attended one minute.
- 31:46Speaker 2: I'm in the car and I think Alan Alan, I
- 31:49Speaker 2: would say, the funniest man, quick, witted, sharp, He's all
- 31:55Speaker 2: of the things all rolled into one. He's like your
- 31:57Speaker 2: offensive uncle, but you could you love me bits. He
- 32:02Speaker 2: says all the right things, then all the wrong things,
- 32:05Speaker 2: and he's been so good to me. Like, I think
- 32:07Speaker 2: the reason that I've got on at talkSPORT is because
- 32:09Speaker 2: I looked out for me, and I think that was
- 32:11Speaker 2: like the Celtic Glasgow connection. You know, he made I
- 32:15Speaker 2: think from the beginning he had my back for that.
- 32:17Speaker 2: And we had this weird experience when I first moved
- 32:21Speaker 2: to London. Do you know Lraen Harvison Lorraine from the
- 32:24Speaker 2: news up here? Guys, man, he's not listening. I met
- 32:29Speaker 2: her one day down in London and we went into
- 32:32Speaker 2: sports bar for a drink and Alan Brazil was there
- 32:35Speaker 2: and she knew him. She knew him well. I didn't
- 32:37Speaker 2: listen to talkSPORT back then. I was young, and we
- 32:41Speaker 2: ended up I was braziled and I didn't And then
- 32:44Speaker 2: I went home and I was telling Jamie all about
- 32:46Speaker 2: this guy Alan Brazil and whatever, and I was showing
- 32:48Speaker 2: the pictures and he was like, you were drinking with
- 32:51Speaker 2: Alan Brazil today, like you've been braziled And I was like, cool,
- 32:54Speaker 2: what does that even mean? And I show I showed
- 32:57Speaker 2: all those pictures in my first week when I started
- 32:59Speaker 2: working with him, and he was like, how weird is
- 33:01Speaker 2: that side? I know? I think then he always kind
- 33:04Speaker 2: of looks out for you and you have that connection.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Did the child Yeah?
- 33:08Speaker 2: Done Cheltenham with him, Yeah, Cheltenham just gone. I end
- 33:12Speaker 2: up covering for him because he just get feeling well. Yeah,
- 33:16Speaker 2: but he's doing good. He's doing really good. Big character,
- 33:19Speaker 2: like larger than life character, and and just like yeah,
- 33:24Speaker 2: different different breed altogether kind of thing. Ali's great, everyone's great.
- 33:29Speaker 2: They're all such good people, you know, and talk sport,
- 33:32Speaker 2: see us being here, where were we we're talking about
- 33:34Speaker 2: this affair. When I was at Clyde, you were never
- 33:38Speaker 2: ever allowed to mention anything about Celtic, anything about like
- 33:41Speaker 2: what kind of team you were involved in there into
- 33:46Speaker 2: yeah he's down there. They were like, what are you
- 33:48Speaker 2: doing sitting on this man United? Like, you know, I
- 33:51Speaker 2: always thought I'd get in trouble for saying that you
- 33:54Speaker 2: were from a Celtic background and Celtic family. My sister
- 33:57Speaker 2: used to play for Celtic and you know where it's
- 34:01Speaker 2: down there. They're like, no, because it just what exists
- 34:04Speaker 2: here in Glasgow doesn't exist down there. People don't care
- 34:07Speaker 2: about your sectarian ways or whatever. But it's just not
- 34:11Speaker 2: a thing. Whereas when you're in here you just would
- 34:13Speaker 2: have protected yourself from having it put up with any
- 34:16Speaker 2: of that shite. Yeah, you know, but down down south
- 34:19Speaker 2: and I talks sport. They encourage you to go hard
- 34:21Speaker 2: on that and I love love now being able to
- 34:24Speaker 2: be like really proud to have followed CELTICLL my life.
- 34:28Speaker 2: So I'm happy with that now.
- 34:30Speaker 4: To share on that.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Then what can I what's your favorite memories of your
- 34:36Speaker 1: your time is growing up the Sheelted then a bit younger.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Well, everybody talks about the Barcelona game. I remember that
- 34:43Speaker 2: Barcelona game. Yeah, I remember that. It was yesterday. In
- 34:47Speaker 2: my head, I can still think I was there, but
- 34:48Speaker 2: I wasn't. I was watching my mum and my sisters
- 34:51Speaker 2: at home. I think my dad was there and Tony
- 34:54Speaker 2: what like that would be a kind of standout memory.
- 34:58Speaker 2: But like my dad just screaming at the TV, like
- 35:02Speaker 2: screaming he still does is the same. And I watched
- 35:06Speaker 2: a game of them not too long ago and I
- 35:08Speaker 2: filmed him and I sent it to him. I was like,
- 35:09Speaker 2: this is like, this is this is what you're like?
- 35:12Speaker 4: Kind of thing that with my boys. My boys are yeah,
- 35:16Speaker 4: language is terrible, I know.
- 35:19Speaker 2: And my sister she actually has a Celtic record. It's
- 35:23Speaker 2: a great Celtic record. First woman ever to be sent
- 35:26Speaker 2: off at Celtic Park is my twin sister, so yeah,
- 35:30Speaker 2: she played for them for a while as well. So
- 35:32Speaker 2: it's yeah, I think it's a beautiful club and people
- 35:36Speaker 2: are great, the fans are great, and you realize, actually
- 35:41Speaker 2: when you come away from it, how special it is.
- 35:43Speaker 2: You know, when being down the road and I love
- 35:47Speaker 2: I love working with them and doing the events and
- 35:50Speaker 2: whatever like that because everyone's just brilliant. It feels like
- 35:53Speaker 2: they're your people, your people. So yeah, I love that.
- 35:59Speaker 4: You were sitting alert on about your mum. Did you
- 36:00Speaker 4: say your mum worked in a record?
- 36:02Speaker 2: Yeah, befo mix music, shot comedy shut down.
- 36:05Speaker 4: Now you a big music fan.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Like I used to DJ when I was young in
- 36:11Speaker 2: the clubs in Glasgow, the Tunnel and.
- 36:14Speaker 5: All that, and you're prolly in there.
- 36:23Speaker 4: No longer is it? It's not I've heard they do.
- 36:25Speaker 2: They're doing killed all the clubs.
- 36:27Speaker 1: I've heard they're doing kind of reunion nights in the
- 36:29Speaker 1: same building. Are the aware of that?
- 36:32Speaker 4: So you need you.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Then the tunnel and the Bully and then kind of
- 36:36Speaker 2: all around Glasgow to be fare. George Bowie had said
- 36:40Speaker 2: to me years ago, He's like, get yourself trained on
- 36:42Speaker 2: the decks and like there's a market there, there's there's
- 36:44Speaker 2: very little kind of women DJs. And then he let
- 36:47Speaker 2: me cover his show. Then you know the GV experience
- 36:50Speaker 2: that was. I mean, I don't know I can And
- 36:52Speaker 2: then I remember one night he was leaving and I
- 36:54Speaker 2: was taking over and I started sitting up the decks.
- 36:56Speaker 2: He's like, can you mix them live on air? And
- 36:58Speaker 2: I was like, yes, that's what you'd and he was
- 37:00Speaker 2: like no. So he was really good for me, getting
- 37:06Speaker 2: me in kind of that network. But like all music
- 37:09Speaker 2: I love, I would say, like a more any of
- 37:10Speaker 2: the eighties now music to say, I can't stand it
- 37:13Speaker 2: the best I can't stand I like Sam Fender and stuff.
- 37:19Speaker 2: He's good. I saw your T shirt Embraced. That was
- 37:22Speaker 2: one of my first albums.
- 37:26Speaker 5: Yeah, your cousins, I always said, one of their gigs
- 37:32Speaker 5: and that and make them afterwards. It was talking to
- 37:37Speaker 5: him the name but Y for Yorkshire.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Yeah they had was it Watch Me Rise Up and
- 37:45Speaker 2: Leave that song fortune? Yes, that I would say, I
- 37:48Speaker 2: think that's one of my first album ashes. Yeah, that's it.
- 37:52Speaker 2: But not a love all music. It's like a real
- 37:55Speaker 2: mix of everything. Can't play any instruments, can you?
- 37:59Speaker 1: I can play a little bit of guitar. When I
- 38:02Speaker 1: say a little a little three cards.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Maybe is it like oasis or something?
- 38:06Speaker 5: You can't so predictable.
- 38:09Speaker 2: There was one guy with guitars in the oasis.
- 38:13Speaker 1: I can't multitask plenty three cards.
- 38:16Speaker 2: But yet no no musical talent in our family. I
- 38:23Speaker 2: used to pantle here in Glasgow, so I told him
- 38:26Speaker 2: all back then I can't anymore. That goes with age
- 38:28Speaker 2: as well. Do you know who's still going at ninety two?
- 38:32Speaker 2: Frankie Valley. He turned ninety two a couple of days
- 38:36Speaker 2: ago and he's still touring. He's got a good voice.
- 38:39Speaker 4: He'll go far. Did panto as well.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Pavilion pants Man, We've did.
- 38:45Speaker 4: We did the Pavilion, You've did the Pavilion.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Brought into a show billion Tim Yes, sheltering Rangers fan
- 38:55Speaker 1: in the in the prison boy Scott Kelber actually got
- 39:00Speaker 1: on the podcast soon decided in his wisdom to bring
- 39:03Speaker 1: us into the show.
- 39:04Speaker 4: So it's about an experience.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Last it was a wee bit nerve writing, to be honest,
- 39:09Speaker 1: but I think they did three shows.
- 39:11Speaker 4: It's really kind of commented us.
- 39:12Speaker 1: It's a it's a story about the Celtic Rangers game
- 39:15Speaker 1: on in the prison the two guys are in the
- 39:18Speaker 1: in the jail and the games going on, and really commentary.
- 39:22Speaker 4: It was a little bit comforts on that it's mental.
- 39:25Speaker 5: Went one in Dundee which was great. But the people there,
- 39:29Speaker 5: I think it's real.
- 39:30Speaker 3: They think it's they're going through the story and you think,
- 39:32Speaker 3: you know, would Rangers score?
- 39:33Speaker 5: You got Rangers fans. It's like it's real.
- 39:36Speaker 3: They're going crazy and the people and slaughter people.
- 39:40Speaker 5: Crying at the end the story and stuff. It's it was.
- 39:45Speaker 5: It's really well done.
- 39:47Speaker 4: We did that bit of djen as well done. No decks,
- 39:51Speaker 4: it was just pressed the bus.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Play right players. It's it's a good read treat for people,
- 40:02Speaker 2: new experience. It's your two best friends that you leave
- 40:04Speaker 2: each other side.
- 40:06Speaker 4: And the road.
- 40:08Speaker 1: I don't I've done in Yorkshire, but I've just come
- 40:11Speaker 1: through at the same kind of time.
- 40:13Speaker 4: First of all, twenties wet through a lot.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Lot good and bad management as well. Was my assistant, Well,
- 40:23Speaker 3: we'll meet you. Before I signed Celtic played each other
- 40:26Speaker 3: twenty ones. Then I joined Celtic kind.
- 40:28Speaker 5: Of year after and making a trend several since.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Right ever, get fed up with each other?
- 40:36Speaker 4: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 40:39Speaker 5: The marathon who runs aways a year younger, so you
- 40:44Speaker 5: should smoke the pressure.
- 40:47Speaker 1: On me, right, So before we wrap it up, we
- 40:52Speaker 1: have recommendations from our previous guest, and the previous guest
- 40:57Speaker 1: was no other than Scott Brown. And it's a film,
- 41:02Speaker 1: a band and an album. So he's went for happy gilmore.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Right, good shout.
- 41:07Speaker 4: Yeah, she's a great shirt.
- 41:08Speaker 2: The new one's shy though.
- 41:13Speaker 1: He never really gave us anything for the music other
- 41:15Speaker 1: than he's a mad Scooter fans amazing.
- 41:18Speaker 5: So so logical song was the song? Yeah?
- 41:22Speaker 6: Is that the happy hard?
- 41:26Speaker 4: Okay? So Scooter and Scooter was has so can you
- 41:28Speaker 4: give me is it?
- 41:29Speaker 2: Does he listen to Ster?
- 41:31Speaker 4: He wants to go. Yeah, he wants to go to
- 41:34Speaker 4: a kind of rave and a festival.
- 41:35Speaker 5: Like Otis and oatis concident.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Tell them they're doing they're doing a Shattle World country park.
- 41:43Speaker 4: Soon because do pre seasons.
- 41:47Speaker 2: A voice over read for it and Scooters there and
- 41:49Speaker 2: I remember reading it going Scooter what they had? Well,
- 41:54Speaker 2: they were like, did you ever got silver? You guys
- 41:56Speaker 2: wouldn't have gone to Silver. And there was a DJ
- 41:58Speaker 2: call Dj Vans and he used to like mix Scooter
- 42:00Speaker 2: and all that. Those are the days probably dying there.
- 42:03Speaker 4: So you're enjoying that recommendation, then don't get.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Me wrong now and then a little bit might appear.
- 42:09Speaker 4: I didn't think in the dressing room getting up.
- 42:13Speaker 2: It's what people would call ned music here, but I
- 42:16Speaker 2: liked ned music. That's what I was into when I
- 42:18Speaker 2: was young.
- 42:19Speaker 1: So so we need a film of for you, an
- 42:22Speaker 1: album and a song.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Have you seen the new movie One Battle after Another.
- 42:26Speaker 2: I haven't enjoyed a movie like that in a long time.
- 42:31Speaker 4: I watched it on a flake when backfeed.
- 42:34Speaker 2: It's brilliant. It's mental at the start, at the first
- 42:37Speaker 2: half hour, I'm like, what is this slot? But it's
- 42:40Speaker 2: so good, it's amazing. I like to when I used
- 42:45Speaker 2: to go to cinema all the time and never really
- 42:47Speaker 2: watch movies anymore. Love box sets. I'm currently watching Mary Kingstown.
- 42:51Speaker 2: If he's seen this Mary Kingstown, Jeremy Renner brilliant, brilliant.
- 42:55Speaker 2: So if I'm into something, I'm all in. But that
- 42:58Speaker 2: movie was the last movie I watched. I was like,
- 43:01Speaker 2: that was so good. I could watch it again. So
- 43:04Speaker 2: one bat Left or another if you haven't watched it
- 43:06Speaker 2: all time, favorite like Scott, I like Happy Gilmore, but
- 43:11Speaker 2: like chick flicks. How it lose a guy in ten days?
- 43:14Speaker 2: Have ever seen it?
- 43:15Speaker 4: I think?
- 43:16Speaker 5: So what do you think.
- 43:19Speaker 2: McConaughey, Kate Hudson chick flicks? I love a chick flick.
- 43:24Speaker 2: But I used to like, just lift me up when
- 43:25Speaker 2: I was feeling down. That's gonna happen anymore. Can I
- 43:31Speaker 2: throw out West Life if you want? I used to, like,
- 43:35Speaker 2: you know, when you were young, and you think all
- 43:36Speaker 2: the people George me based on the music, and I
- 43:38Speaker 2: don't care. West Life they were the first band I
- 43:41Speaker 2: went to see. Their albums now are still great. But
- 43:45Speaker 2: of all time, Billy Ocean he's my all time favorite.
- 43:50Speaker 2: I've seen him a few times. He did a night
- 43:52Speaker 2: with Clyde years ago, and but we grew up and
- 43:55Speaker 2: when we were in Ireland, my Auntie would always have
- 43:57Speaker 2: on Billy Ocean's greatest hits. So I just kind of
- 43:59Speaker 2: got you to that when I was young. Love his songs,
- 44:01Speaker 2: love his music, love his voices, love the guy. I
- 44:04Speaker 2: danced with them on stage one night. It's great, one
- 44:06Speaker 2: of the most nights. And I've been to see Rolling Stones.
- 44:11Speaker 2: That was an amazing gig. That was at London Stadium
- 44:16Speaker 2: seven years ago they toured maybe seven eight years ago. Yeah,
- 44:21Speaker 2: he's amazing. We snake hips across the stage and all.
- 44:26Speaker 2: So yeah, like eclectic mix of music. But I love
- 44:30Speaker 2: West Life still do. When Mark came out as gay.
- 44:33Speaker 6: That program a song recommendation, Oh god, oh I don't
- 44:43Speaker 6: know off the top of my head, World of our Own.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Maybe that was a good song, good pop song. Judge
- 44:49Speaker 2: me all you want judging amazing? Okay, Yeah, if he
- 44:55Speaker 2: said that out loud, I'm.
- 44:57Speaker 5: Fine, John jokey, what was that one again? Eighty percent
- 45:02Speaker 5: is of your favorite?
- 45:03Speaker 4: Was it?
- 45:04Speaker 2: Eighty percent?
- 45:05Speaker 5: If you have go on iTunes or whatever, it is.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Tragic it's just swearing, alrighty.
- 45:13Speaker 3: Bang and swearing or put it on and listen to it.
- 45:19Speaker 3: It's you need to listen to it and tell what
- 45:20Speaker 3: you think.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Okay, eighty percent after for a minute thought, he's confused.
- 45:24Speaker 5: Percent fifty percent dirty faces, dirty faces another plug for them.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Yeah, but you're not finding that's all understandable anyway.
- 45:35Speaker 4: You've been a fantastic Yes, thanks thanks for having me.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Good luck with it all and enjoyed speak to.
- 45:40Speaker 4: People, and we're committee out of the marathon.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Good.
- 45:43Speaker 5: I hope as long as Sheeltic when the leak.
- 45:45Speaker 4: As long as you.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Still have to do it, you've got to do it
- 45:50Speaker 2: for your cause, got to take your bestel one with you.
- 45:52Speaker 2: No good luck and if you're doing the marathon, I'll
- 45:54Speaker 2: be there that day. Sport you as well, which will
- 45:56Speaker 2: come round quicker than you think. But thanks for having
- 45:59Speaker 2: me on. It's been long beyond the
- 46:00Speaker 4: Interesting as never has a relaxing potent
