- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, so good afternoon. NewsRadio 570. Welcome, welcome, welcome,
- 0:06Speaker 1: boys and girls. It's Monday, May 11th already, almost the
- 0:09Speaker 1: middle of May. And so we are at 61 degrees.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Nice to be with you here. We've got a short
- 0:15Speaker 1: broadcast today. 530 we're going to call it quits today
- 0:19Speaker 1: because Guardians pregame on at 530. So short broadcast here
- 0:24Speaker 1: on NewsRadio 570. So keep that in mind. Let me
- 0:29Speaker 1: see what awaits me here today. They keep talking about
- 0:35Speaker 1: the agreements. Iran wants to make an agreement, but nothing happens.
- 0:43Speaker 1: So I keep looking, keep reading that. Now I'm reading
- 0:48Speaker 1: different stuff. Now I'm reading where Trump is talking about
- 0:51Speaker 1: putting a pause on the federal gas tax. You hear
- 0:55Speaker 1: some people, and they asked DeWine if he would take
- 0:58Speaker 1: away the state gas tax. DeWine said no. The gas
- 1:01Speaker 1: tax is used to repair your roads and your federal
- 1:06Speaker 1: highways and your roads. I think some of it goes
- 1:09Speaker 1: to the state patrol, and.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Your gas tax is used for that kind of stuff.
- 1:16Speaker 1: But anyway, now some of the conversation has shifted to
- 1:21Speaker 1: pausing the gas tax. We shall see what happens as
- 1:24Speaker 1: far as that's concerned. gas prices still are high in
- 1:27Speaker 1: my neck of the woods.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Still are high.
- 1:31Speaker 1: About $ 4. 75 for the most part. Sometimes higher, $ 4.
- 1:35Speaker 3: 89.
- 1:35Speaker 2: It's in that ballpark.
- 1:38Speaker 1: A little bit below $ 5 a gallon. But let's just
- 1:42Speaker 1: go with $ 4. 90 in that ballpark as an average in
- 1:46Speaker 1: my neck of the woods. So they're still really high.
- 1:49Speaker 1: And before I start taking some calls, where was it?
- 1:53Speaker 1: I was just looking at... Look at this right here,
- 1:56Speaker 1: the gentleman's headline. Gas prices to rise after Trump's Iran
- 2:02Speaker 1: proposal rejection. KALSHI, K-A-L-S-H-I, traders predict. All right, so there
- 2:13Speaker 1: you go.
- 2:15Speaker 2: That's the headline.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Gasoline prices said to go higher after Trump's Iran proposal rejection.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Here's how much they can rise. All right, you want
- 2:22Speaker 1: to hear this, don't you? I want to keep you informed.
- 2:31Speaker 1: So it says key points. President Donald Trump rejected Iran's
- 2:38Speaker 1: counterproposal to end the war, raising K-A-I-S-H-I.
- 2:44Speaker 2: How would you say that? Because she eased.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Traders' expectations for a surge in gasoline prices. The odds
- 2:51Speaker 1: of fuel prices surpassing $ 5 per gallon. The odds of
- 2:55Speaker 1: fuel prices surpassing $ 5 per gallon top 60% on Kashi
- 3:04Speaker 1: as of Monday afternoon.
- 3:07Speaker 2: That's today.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Brett Crude Futures topped 104 a barrel on Monday.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Similarly, U.S.
- 3:22Speaker 1: West Texas International Futures traded above $ 98, up 3%. Gasoline
- 3:32Speaker 1: prices are expected to go over $ 5 a gallon. I've
- 3:36Speaker 1: got to check in.
- 3:36Speaker 2: What is this? There's smart people out there.
- 3:40Speaker 1: They call it, according to, is it K-A-I-S-H-I?
- 3:49Speaker 2: Traders.
- 3:50Speaker 1: After President Trump on Sunday turned down Iran's counterproposal to
- 3:53Speaker 1: end the war, over the past 24 hours, cashier traders
- 3:58Speaker 1: ramped up their bets that gasoline prices would surpass $ 5.
- 4:02Speaker 2: 60 per gallon. And see, I'm like at half a tank.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I've been waiting, anticipating him, trying to wait for him
- 4:11Speaker 1: to come down before I fill up.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Isn't it interesting? So maybe I better do that anyway.
- 4:19Speaker 1: The spike in activity comes from after Trump said in
- 4:22Speaker 1: a true social post on Sunday that Iran's counterproposal to
- 4:26Speaker 1: end the war in the Middle East was totally unacceptable.
- 4:28Speaker 1: The president later said on Monday that the U.S. ceasefire
- 4:32Speaker 1: with Iran was on massive life supports. Oil prices jumped
- 4:38Speaker 1: today with West Texas intermediate futures jumping nearly 3%. While
- 4:41Speaker 1: Brent crude futures advanced close to 3%. See, I'm giving
- 4:49Speaker 1: you the latest stuff. Nationally, the average gasoline price per
- 4:56Speaker 1: gallon rose by 6 cents from a week ago to $ 4.
- 5:00Speaker 4: 52.
- 5:00Speaker 1: This is nationally because we're higher than that here. According
- 5:03Speaker 1: to AAA, it has risen about 38 cents from a
- 5:06Speaker 1: month ago and has gained about $ 1. 38 from a year back.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Trump also said today that he would reduce the federal
- 5:14Speaker 1: gasoline tax. garnering support from congressional Republicans. This came after
- 5:20Speaker 1: he told CBS News in an interview that he wanted
- 5:22Speaker 1: to suspend the levy for a period of time. I
- 5:26Speaker 1: think it's a great idea, the president told CBS. Yep,
- 5:29Speaker 1: we're going to take off the gas tax for a
- 5:30Speaker 1: period of time, and when gas goes down, we'll face
- 5:34Speaker 1: it back in. What's the federal gas tax? I think
- 5:38Speaker 1: it's only like 20 cents. I'll check on that for you.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But the key takeaway here, as I start today's broadcast...
- 5:49Speaker 1: So these traders ramped up their bets that gasoline prices
- 5:52Speaker 1: would surpass $ 5.
- 5:53Speaker 2: 60 a gallon.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I'm telling you, if that's the case, I'm just telling
- 6:03Speaker 1: you right now, that is a game changer for the
- 6:09Speaker 1: Republicans and for the Trump administration. Period.
- 6:13Speaker 2: End of story.
- 6:14Speaker 1: It will 100% be an absolute game changer. And not
- 6:21Speaker 1: in a good direction. Comments, 330-729-9977. 330-729-9977. I've got to
- 6:34Speaker 1: tell you a true story. A guy was telling me
- 6:36Speaker 1: over the weekends. This is news you can use. This
- 6:39Speaker 1: has nothing to do with gas prices or anything.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I just put it out there again. I once talked
- 6:44Speaker 2: about on the air.
- 6:46Speaker 5: How..
- 6:48Speaker 2: Wait a second. Let me grab it right here. All right,
- 6:50Speaker 2: a second. See this?
- 6:52Speaker 1: Do you see this? It's right in my pocket. In
- 6:56Speaker 1: my pocket, in my briefcase. My wife makes me carry these.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Bare chewable aspirin regimen. 81 milligrams. So bare chewable aspirin
- 7:13Speaker 1: is 81 milligrams. Then she writes on here, chew for
- 7:20Speaker 1: Tablets with chest pain. You know, so if you have
- 7:24Speaker 1: chest pain. So anyway, I talked about this once on here.
- 7:29Speaker 1: And this guy was telling me, I talked about this
- 7:31Speaker 1: once on here. I said, my wife has these little
- 7:34Speaker 1: containers that's in my briefcase, in my pocket, on the
- 7:40Speaker 1: nightstands and all that kind of stuff where, you know,
- 7:45Speaker 1: it's just a hard issues don't really run in our family.
- 7:49Speaker 2: But as you get older, you never know.
- 7:52Speaker 1: But needless to say, like if you have chest pain,
- 7:56Speaker 1: you know, like chest pain, you're supposed to chew four
- 7:59Speaker 1: of these. Don't swallow them. Chew them as you chew
- 8:03Speaker 1: them under your tongue. And that's supposed to help keep
- 8:09Speaker 1: you alive, basically, until you get to the emergency room.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And so I tell that story because, you know, I
- 8:18Speaker 1: keep them here in my pocket and all that kind
- 8:19Speaker 1: of stuff. And so a guy told me over the weekend,
- 8:23Speaker 1: he said, hey, you know, I remember when he told
- 8:24Speaker 1: that story. And he said he had a heart attack.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And he remembered from that story that he had chewable
- 8:32Speaker 1: baby aspirin. And when he was having one, he chewed
- 8:36Speaker 1: them and went right to the emergency room. And it's
- 8:39Speaker 1: really saved his life.
- 8:40Speaker 2: How about that?
- 8:42Speaker 1: The words and wisdom of Lisa verb, whereas she, which
- 8:50Speaker 1: was pretty cool. I thought, you know, which is pretty cool.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So that's, so I thought, well, I should mention that again.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Certainly if you're older, you should always be carrying some
- 9:03Speaker 1: baby aspirin. So if you ever have a heart attack
- 9:06Speaker 1: and you'll know if you have one in chest pain
- 9:08Speaker 1: that you're, You get the baby aspirin and you chew
- 9:11Speaker 1: a bowl and you chew four of them right away
- 9:13Speaker 1: while you call 911. And hopefully that will keep you going.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Because usually when they get there, they're going to make
- 9:20Speaker 1: you chew some too. But you want to make sure.
- 9:23Speaker 1: But anyway, I thought that was interesting. Very interesting. So
- 9:26Speaker 1: I thought I wanted to pass that along to you
- 9:28Speaker 1: as well.
- 9:30Speaker 2: All right. You're on the air.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I'm doing okay. When I'm not busy broadcasting, I'm saving lives,
- 9:38Speaker 1: giving you advice.
- 9:39Speaker 3: What's really funny, I don't know if you have to
- 9:41Speaker 3: listen to yourself. The opening right there, you said, it
- 9:45Speaker 3: was just funny. I know what you meant, but you said,
- 9:47Speaker 3: I keep my aspirins in my briefcase in my pocket.
- 9:53Speaker 3: And I'm sitting here and I go, how big is
- 9:55Speaker 3: your briefcase?
- 9:57Speaker 1: No, I mean, I carry some. I carry some in
- 10:01Speaker 1: my briefcase. I carry some in my pockets. I have
- 10:05Speaker 1: them on a nightstand. You know, it's not like a... Listen,
- 10:09Speaker 1: I'll open it up and look right now. See, they're
- 10:12Speaker 1: right in there.
- 10:12Speaker 2: There's more... No. Listen here, you smart aleck.
- 10:18Speaker 3: But anyway, yeah, things are, you know, with the gas
- 10:23Speaker 3: and everything, I just paid, I pumped for, it was
- 10:27Speaker 3: $ 4. 70 a gallon, and I gave the rights to my son,
- 10:31Speaker 3: to the owner of the gas, if you would let
- 10:34Speaker 3: me have an extra five gallons. So when my son
- 10:37Speaker 3: gets to the right age, he's going to have to
- 10:38Speaker 3: work for him for a little bit to work off
- 10:41Speaker 3: the gas. gas price, you know what I mean, which
- 10:43Speaker 3: is so expensive.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but it's a..
- 10:47Speaker 3: I've got to myself, well, if I drive around for
- 10:51Speaker 3: a while, maybe I'll come across an unlucky possum. And
- 10:54Speaker 3: I can, you know, brew them.
- 10:55Speaker 2: And there'll be dinner.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Not too much damage. I get it home before it goes.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm here. I'm listening to you, Ramblin'.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I'm just thinking, I mean, I'm just reading it right
- 11:10Speaker 1: here today, and it's like, So for the most part,
- 11:13Speaker 1: we're at around $ 4.
- 11:15Speaker 2: 89, let's say, in that ballpark.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Just slightly below $ 5 a gallon. And I keep hearing
- 11:23Speaker 1: this stuff on Fox. Oh, Iran wants to make a deal.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Iran wants to make a deal. And so it looks like.
- 11:30Speaker 3: But is this a game show?
- 11:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 11:33Speaker 3: You want to make a deal?
- 11:35Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, let's make a deal. What is it.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Bob Barker and stuff? I don't understand this. What deal
- 11:40Speaker 3: are they looking for?
- 11:41Speaker 2: Apparently not the one we're offering.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Do we want a kitchen set along with it? Or
- 11:46Speaker 3: do we want to get a vacation to Mexico? I
- 11:48Speaker 3: don't understand because that's what a deal is. And then
- 11:51Speaker 3: they say they don't like the deal. My idea is
- 11:55Speaker 3: if you're even going to sit down and talk about
- 11:57Speaker 3: a deal, you're going to have to have three quarters
- 12:00Speaker 3: on each side agreeing to whatever the other ones are saying.
- 12:03Speaker 3: You understand what I'm saying? You can't just go in
- 12:06Speaker 3: there and go, I'll offer you this, and they're going, no,
- 12:08Speaker 3: I'll offer you that. This doesn't sound right. So I
- 12:11Speaker 3: agree with you that we should just make a deal.
- 12:14Speaker 3: And it's almost jargon that Mr.
- 12:17Speaker 6: Trump uses.
- 12:18Speaker 3: With his business, and I'm not blaming anything. I'm saying
- 12:22Speaker 3: that's how his life is. That's how he verbalizes things.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I don't understand.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Well, it seems to me, listen, here's my analysis. I mean,
- 12:30Speaker 1: do I think we have him on the ropes? Well,
- 12:33Speaker 1: you would think so. I mean, with all the bobbing
- 12:37Speaker 1: that took place and with the blockade and without their
- 12:41Speaker 1: economy doing much good. But it doesn't seem like that...
- 12:46Speaker 1: I don't know how to read it. It would seem
- 12:48Speaker 1: like you got them up against the wall, and that
- 12:51Speaker 1: they would want a deal so they can get back
- 12:53Speaker 1: to selling oil and getting money coming in and all
- 12:57Speaker 1: this kind of stuff. But apparently there's a number of
- 13:02Speaker 1: folks in Iran that say– They're not interested.
- 13:06Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 13:06Speaker 2: If they want to make a deal, why isn't there
- 13:08Speaker 2: a deal? That's what I'm saying.
- 13:09Speaker 3: It's almost like you use the reference to sports. You know,
- 13:13Speaker 3: if I'm going to want a contract for five years
- 13:17Speaker 3: where I'm going to make this amount of money each
- 13:19Speaker 3: year and make a curb progress... I'll get, uh, other benefits.
- 13:23Speaker 3: If I throw for 5,000 yards, I get this amount
- 13:25Speaker 3: of money, uh, benefit or more extra money, something like that.
- 13:28Speaker 3: But you're going to have that already as an understood
- 13:31Speaker 3: type of thing. And I, and I just don't, uh,
- 13:33Speaker 3: it bothers me because it's a, um, we're obviously not
- 13:37Speaker 3: getting anywhere. And, uh, it's, I don't understand.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I tell you what, all you need to understand is
- 13:45Speaker 1: what this line is. I'm reading from CNBC over the
- 13:47Speaker 1: past 24 hours. cashier traders ramped up their bets that
- 13:52Speaker 1: gasoline prices would surpass 560 per gallon.
- 14:01Speaker 2: I don't know that that means there's a war.
- 14:03Speaker 1: It just means that no agreement is being reached and
- 14:05Speaker 1: the price of oil continues to go up.
- 14:07Speaker 3: 560, I mean, again, just think about it, Ron.
- 14:11Speaker 2: That's ridiculous.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Where does it stop? Where are we going to continue
- 14:17Speaker 3: to say, okay, we're paying $ 9 an hour, $ 9 a gallon.
- 14:21Speaker 3: If that happens, do we go, we'll go to 11
- 14:24Speaker 3: and then there'll be no more? Are we going to
- 14:25Speaker 3: go to..
- 14:26Speaker 2: Well, I don't jump that.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I think over 560 is pretty ridiculous. I don't need
- 14:32Speaker 1: to go to 9, but I mean, when I'm reading this..
- 14:34Speaker 3: I don't want to either. I'm just saying that are
- 14:36Speaker 3: we going to become that complacent or that we become...
- 14:41Speaker 3: that it doesn't bother us that we become immune or
- 14:45Speaker 3: indifferent to it, that it's going to go up.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Okay.
- 14:47Speaker 3: It goes up extra dollar. And I was, you know,
- 14:49Speaker 3: what other thing on public news calls him, will you
- 14:52Speaker 3: please remind.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Him he was wrong.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Number Friday, he said, Oh, we're getting, you didn't train.
- 14:56Speaker 3: You didn't trust Trump. And he said, well, let's see
- 14:58Speaker 3: what happened on Monday. Here comes Monday. And look what happened.
- 15:03Speaker 3: All right.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Thank you. It's a JJ, the liberal. Thank you. Back
- 15:08Speaker 2: with more of your calls in just a minute.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570-WKBN.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Ron Verb, and you're on the air.
- 15:20Speaker 4: Hey, Ron, this is going to be my most depressing
- 15:24Speaker 4: call ever.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Well, now, hang on. Do you know what? I want
- 15:27Speaker 2: to ask you before you get depressed to live in
- 15:29Speaker 2: hell out of me, okay? Do you mind? Cashy. What
- 15:33Speaker 2: is this cashy? Is that a betting place or something?
- 15:37Speaker 2: I'm trying to hear. Yeah, I believe that's a prediction market. Yeah,
- 15:40Speaker 2: Kashi predicts markets for trading the future. Okay, so I
- 15:45Speaker 2: don't know if I'm pronouncing it right. K-A-I-S-H-I.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Kashi is a registered exchange and prediction market where you
- 15:52Speaker 1: can trade on the outcome of real-world events, buy and
- 15:56Speaker 1: sell event contracts. Okay, so that's where you bet on stuff, right?
- 16:04Speaker 1: So they're saying here, Let me go back to CNBC.
- 16:08Speaker 1: So let's see. So their betting markets is cashy traders
- 16:14Speaker 1: ramped up their bets that gasoline prices would surpass $ 5. 60
- 16:19Speaker 1: per gallon.
- 16:21Speaker 2: What do you make of that?
- 16:21Speaker 4: I believe it's based in Japan. That's why it's got
- 16:24Speaker 4: a weird name.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:27Speaker 1: So now I'm looking at it. Trading volume on oil
- 16:29Speaker 1: and gas prices will hit about $ 5. 60 in the last
- 16:31Speaker 1: 24 hours. Surpassed.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I don't know how to even read this stuff to
- 16:43Speaker 1: make sense. Trading volume in the last 24 hours. So
- 16:46Speaker 1: the bulk of it went to 560. I guess that's
- 16:51Speaker 1: basically just speculators, right?
- 16:54Speaker 4: Yeah, that's speculators betting on the future price of oil
- 16:58Speaker 4: and gas.
- 17:01Speaker 2: How accurate do you think that is, Frank?
- 17:04Speaker 4: Well, unless they're oil... Market analyst, I wouldn't put a
- 17:09Speaker 4: lot of stock into it.
- 17:11Speaker 2: So what do you make of it? I mean, give
- 17:14Speaker 2: me a second. I know you wanted to..
- 17:16Speaker 4: Oil was selling almost $ 99 a barrel earlier today when
- 17:22Speaker 4: I checked. And not long ago, it was down to
- 17:25Speaker 4: $ 90 a barrel. So going from $ 90 to almost $ 99
- 17:27Speaker 4: a barrel is a huge... price increase in a short
- 17:36Speaker 4: amount of time.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Is that an increase or a drop?
- 17:38Speaker 1: Are you saying it went from $ 90 to $ 99, or
- 17:41Speaker 1: was it $ 99 and dropped to $ 90?
- 17:43Speaker 4: No, it was $ 90 a few days ago. Now it's
- 17:47Speaker 4: up to almost $ 99 a barrel when I checked a
- 17:51Speaker 4: couple hours ago.
- 17:52Speaker 2: And basically, from what I'm reading... It's Fort Lauderdale Frank,
- 17:55Speaker 2: financial guru.
- 17:56Speaker 1: So basically what I'm reading on CNBC says that it's
- 18:01Speaker 1: because the deal was, there isn't a deal, basically. That's
- 18:05Speaker 1: why oil prices are going up and why they say
- 18:09Speaker 1: gas prices could go up.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Would you agree with that?
- 18:12Speaker 7: Yes, I would.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I can't imagine. It's hard to fathom.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Even when you see like $ 4. 99, I mean $ 5 a gallon,
- 18:22Speaker 1: I'm just talking in my neck of the woods. I
- 18:24Speaker 1: realize in other places it's different because they talk about, well,
- 18:27Speaker 1: it's $ 4. 50 in these places and that kind of stuff.
- 18:29Speaker 1: But it's hard to imagine if you would see the
- 18:33Speaker 1: gas price at $ 5. 60 a gallon. Stand by, back with
- 18:36Speaker 1: Fort Lauderdale Frank and some insight from him. And why
- 18:40Speaker 1: does he say he's going to depress me? I'm very
- 18:43Speaker 1: troubled by that. I want to find out what that is.
- 18:46Speaker 2: News Radio 570.
- 18:48Speaker 5: WKV's report is sponsored by Taking a Walk Podcast.
- 18:52Speaker 2: All right, back to it. 335 in the afternoon.
- 18:54Speaker 1: News Radio 570. So, as things stand right now, Fort Lauderdale, Frank,
- 19:01Speaker 1: economically speaking, things don't look so good as far as
- 19:04Speaker 1: oil futures and the cost of a gallon of gas.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Would that be a fair statement?
- 19:10Speaker 4: Yes, I was... well uh... listening to an economist uh...
- 19:15Speaker 4: friday that said that warren buffett's portfolio is no longer
- 19:22Speaker 4: geared for a global economic recession his portfolio is now
- 19:29Speaker 4: geared to withstand a great global economic depression possibly the
- 19:37Speaker 4: worst oppression in history and A Republican talking point is,
- 19:45Speaker 4: AI will bail us out. That's in vogue now. I
- 19:50Speaker 4: think that is unlikely. And at some point, the trillions
- 19:54Speaker 4: of dollars that the MAG-7 is pouring into AI, they're
- 19:58Speaker 4: going to have to stop calculating their expected return on
- 20:02Speaker 4: capital and start realizing we better be concerned with a
- 20:07Speaker 4: return of our capital instead of pissing it down AI
- 20:12Speaker 4: rabbit holes. And Buffett also is called Bitcoin rat poison.
- 20:20Speaker 4: He has no faith in Bitcoin whatsoever.
- 20:23Speaker 1: First of all, back up for one second. Here's what
- 20:27Speaker 1: people don't understand, and maybe you do. And this is
- 20:30Speaker 1: for everybody that's listening. And I'm glad you brought this
- 20:33Speaker 1: up as well. The things that I'm reading when it
- 20:38Speaker 1: comes to AI... And, folks, I'm just here for all
- 20:42Speaker 1: of you to understand a lot of people don't follow this,
- 20:44Speaker 1: particularly if you're older. Artificial intelligence is the amount of
- 20:49Speaker 1: jobs that it will replace. In other words, eliminate is
- 20:53Speaker 1: the word I want.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Right, Frank?
- 20:55Speaker 1: They're talking within three years. So they're talking from now
- 21:00Speaker 1: to within three years. So between 2026 and 2029.
- 21:06Speaker 2: That it could be.
- 21:07Speaker 1: 50%, Frank, 50% of white-collar jobs could very easily be
- 21:12Speaker 1: eliminated by AI. So then my question would be, well,
- 21:17Speaker 1: what are all those people supposed to do? I mean,
- 21:20Speaker 1: that's a huge amount of people who lose their jobs.
- 21:24Speaker 1: And we're a consumer-based economy. If they don't have a job,
- 21:28Speaker 1: then they're not going to be hiring a plumber to
- 21:30Speaker 1: redo the bathroom.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Comment, please.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Well, they're going to have to depend on charity, private charity. But,
- 21:39Speaker 4: you know, Ronnie, AI is at ground zero of a
- 21:43Speaker 4: gigantic financial bubble similar to the dot-com bubble from 2001
- 21:48Speaker 4: to 2010, in which NASDAQ lost 90% of its value.
- 21:57Speaker 4: I wouldn't be surprised if any of these AI companies
- 22:00Speaker 4: go bankrupt. and that the new Fed chairman will declare
- 22:04Speaker 4: them too big to fail and bail them out with
- 22:07Speaker 4: trillions of dollars of taxpayer money. And I don't envy
- 22:11Speaker 4: the new Fed chairman. He's going to be between a
- 22:14Speaker 4: rock and a hard place. His only two options are
- 22:18Speaker 4: to hyperinflate or to pursue a responsible monetary policy and
- 22:24Speaker 4: watch both the government and private sector collapse upon itself
- 22:29Speaker 4: in a mountain of debt. Now, from a political point
- 22:32Speaker 4: of view, monetizing the debt is the path of least resistance.
- 22:37Speaker 4: But now the Chinese banks are forbidden to buy our
- 22:41Speaker 4: government debt. And I say to the Republican and Democrat
- 22:46Speaker 4: voters who still remain that your big, beautiful government will
- 22:51Speaker 4: probably force Americans who own private pensions, 401ks, and IRAs
- 22:57Speaker 4: to buy government debt against their will. I wouldn't be
- 23:00Speaker 4: surprised if Congress says, Ron, you and me and everybody
- 23:06Speaker 4: else with 401k, 20% of your 401k has to be
- 23:11Speaker 4: in government debt. And, you know..
- 23:15Speaker 1: Then that takes away your freedom of investing because it
- 23:20Speaker 1: depends what the return is on that. I mean, here's
- 23:24Speaker 1: my concern. And I bounce this off of you and
- 23:27Speaker 1: I would call this, just be patient with me because
- 23:29Speaker 1: I'm I'm picking his brain. I understand many of you
- 23:32Speaker 1: people aren't paying attention to this kind of stuff. And
- 23:35Speaker 1: I get it. And I understand a lot of you
- 23:37Speaker 1: don't read the financial stuff. So I'm just trying to
- 23:41Speaker 1: give you some information that's out there that I want
- 23:43Speaker 1: you to be aware of. That's all I'm saying. It
- 23:46Speaker 1: could be right, could be wrong. As I say, I'm
- 23:49Speaker 1: not a cheerleader for Trump or for any politician.
- 23:53Speaker 2: But I am getting tired of Iran wants a deal.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Iran wants a deal. A deal's imminent. A deal's imminent.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I've been hearing this on Fox News for the longest
- 24:03Speaker 1: period of time. And then we see, based on what
- 24:07Speaker 1: took place this weekend, well, Iran isn't that desperate to
- 24:10Speaker 1: have a deal because they haven't agreed to this one, apparently.
- 24:17Speaker 1: So they keep telling me how desperate they are and
- 24:19Speaker 1: how they want a deal. Well, they're not making a deal.
- 24:22Speaker 1: So I'm sitting back and I'm saying, OK. Every time
- 24:27Speaker 1: that happens, I know oil prices go up, and that
- 24:30Speaker 1: can potentially mean your gas prices go up. Maybe I'm
- 24:33Speaker 1: the only guy out there. I think $ 5 a gallon
- 24:35Speaker 1: is ridiculous. I think it's absolutely ridiculous, and I think
- 24:39Speaker 1: economically it hurts a lot of you. I mean, when
- 24:42Speaker 1: you fill up your vehicle and it's $ 100 or.
- 24:46Speaker 2: $ 80, it's a lot of money to fill it up.
- 24:49Speaker 1: So the thought or the conversation is, that I don't
- 24:53Speaker 1: care who the president is, the gas prices could go
- 24:55Speaker 1: above $ 5 is, I just think it's, if that's the case,
- 25:03Speaker 1: Trump's presidency isn't going to be on life support as
- 25:07Speaker 1: well as the midterms. The American people aren't going to
- 25:10Speaker 1: sit back, the vast majority of them, and say, oh,
- 25:13Speaker 1: I'm all in for paying $ 5 or $ 5. 60 a gallon
- 25:16Speaker 1: because I'm concerned about Iran. I don't believe that for
- 25:18Speaker 1: a minute.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Do you, Frank?
- 25:21Speaker 4: I don't believe it either, Ron. And, Ron, the reason
- 25:24Speaker 4: why I believe in supply-side economics, and I've been pre-market
- 25:30Speaker 4: capitalism all my life, the pre-market is a self-adjusting mechanism. Like,
- 25:37Speaker 4: what's happening right now? When you have high oil and
- 25:41Speaker 4: high gas prices, if we had a true pre-market and
- 25:46Speaker 4: no government interference, Investment capital would be flowing out of
- 25:54Speaker 4: oil and gas companies right now and flowing into alternative
- 25:59Speaker 4: energy at lower prices. We would be weaning ourselves off
- 26:07Speaker 4: of oil companies. and natural gas.
- 26:11Speaker 6: Well, we're not.
- 26:12Speaker 2: We're not.
- 26:13Speaker 1: We're going more into natural gas than ever for electric production,
- 26:17Speaker 1: for our power plants, more than ever. I've argued for
- 26:21Speaker 1: the longest period of time with all of these people.
- 26:24Speaker 1: You want diversity in creating electricity. You want hydro, which
- 26:28Speaker 1: is water. You want coal. You want natural gas. And
- 26:32Speaker 1: you want nuclear. Your four main dependable ones that you
- 26:36Speaker 1: want You want diversity there, but we're getting... I give
- 26:42Speaker 1: Trump credits that he stopped ripping down all these coal plants,
- 26:46Speaker 1: but unfortunately under Obama and Biden, they ripped a bunch
- 26:49Speaker 1: of them down without anything to replace them.
- 26:51Speaker 2: The government's intervention..
- 26:55Speaker 1: In the Green New Deal nonsense has created this energy
- 26:59Speaker 1: problem in addition to AI. But I mean, they created
- 27:02Speaker 1: a lot of this problem by saying, okay, we're green energy.
- 27:07Speaker 1: You can't have a coal, regulating coal plants out of
- 27:09Speaker 1: business and insisting they be torn down with nothing to
- 27:12Speaker 1: replace them and the amount of power that they produce.
- 27:16Speaker 1: This is ridiculous. So now we're building more power plants,
- 27:20Speaker 1: but they're all based on natural gas. Well, what do
- 27:23Speaker 1: you think is going to happen to the price of
- 27:24Speaker 1: natural gas when that much consumption is being used for power?
- 27:29Speaker 2: I mean, the supply and demand.
- 27:31Speaker 4: And in the free market economy, let's take a look
- 27:36Speaker 4: at China and some other countries that have at least
- 27:40Speaker 4: a semblance of a free market. Investment capitals flowing out
- 27:46Speaker 4: of their oil and natural gas industries into clean energy industries.
- 27:52Speaker 4: It's not going into windmills. It's going into productive, clean
- 27:58Speaker 4: energy like solar. But that is not happening in this country.
- 28:03Speaker 4: We're going to fall farther and farther behind in the race. And,
- 28:07Speaker 4: you know, China, let me say something about China.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Well, hang on a minute.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I don't buy into that in China. China's built more
- 28:15Speaker 1: coal plants than anybody. That's a reality.
- 28:19Speaker 4: Well, that's the reality, but they're also investing in a
- 28:23Speaker 4: lot of..
- 28:24Speaker 1: Right, but they're buying all our coal. China has built
- 28:28Speaker 1: more coal plants lately. China is one of the biggest
- 28:31Speaker 1: polluters on the planet. They have, excuse me, they build
- 28:36Speaker 1: all kinds of coal plants and continue to build them.
- 28:39Speaker 1: And they're buying a lot of coal from this country.
- 28:42Speaker 1: And they want cheap, dependable energy in China. They're not
- 28:46Speaker 1: environmentalists over there. They're not worried about solar and this stuff.
- 28:50Speaker 1: They're doing exactly the opposite. And that's what makes it
- 28:53Speaker 1: hard to compete against them, because the lunatics with the
- 28:56Speaker 1: green energy here in this country, they want the California model,
- 29:00Speaker 1: which is windmills and solar panels, which don't produce nearly
- 29:04Speaker 1: as much energy, which is a lot more expensive energy
- 29:07Speaker 1: to produce and less dependable. I mean, it's ridiculous. I
- 29:11Speaker 1: want everybody out there... You've got to give me an aye-aye, Captain,
- 29:15Speaker 1: on this. We've got an energy problem because of Obama, Biden, Kerry,
- 29:20Speaker 1: Hillary Clinton, the war on coal, damn it. I realize
- 29:23Speaker 1: people don't want to hear it.
- 29:24Speaker 2: If you're a.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Democrat, you created this problem because Obama and these folks
- 29:30Speaker 1: regulated coal plants out of business. Let's make the regulation
- 29:33Speaker 1: so stern they couldn't afford to stay in business. And
- 29:37Speaker 1: then let's pass laws that you've got to tear that
- 29:40Speaker 1: coal plant down, like Samanis in Ohio, or the one
- 29:44Speaker 1: in our area, where a perfectly good coal plant had
- 29:48Speaker 1: to be torn down because of the green energy stuff. Well,
- 29:52Speaker 1: as much as we can bitch about Trump, Trump has
- 29:54Speaker 1: stopped that from happening. Trump has said that we no
- 29:57Speaker 1: longer are going to allow tearing down these coal plants
- 30:00Speaker 1: under this Obama scheme because nothing was there to replace
- 30:03Speaker 1: the energy they created. Supply and demand, that helped raise
- 30:08Speaker 1: energy prices because of the Democrats, just as the demand
- 30:13Speaker 1: from AI is creating some of it.
- 30:16Speaker 4: Now, Ron, let me interrupt you a second. Regardless of
- 30:21Speaker 4: anybody's opinion on energy policy, investment capital is pouring into China.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I don't care. I hate to say it. I don't care.
- 30:35Speaker 1: It's communist China. They're an enemy to the United States.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Things are owned by the country. I mean, I have
- 30:42Speaker 1: zero respect for China. I'm not a fan of China.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And we shall see what happens. It even appears China
- 30:49Speaker 1: is aiding Iran in some of the efforts that we
- 30:53Speaker 1: have to try to end this particular situation.
- 30:57Speaker 4: As far as inflation, Ron, let me tell you this.
- 31:01Speaker 4: It's not only Warren Buffett. It's all the smartest investors
- 31:06Speaker 4: in the world. Jamie Dimon, 20% of his portfolio in gold.
- 31:12Speaker 4: Bank of America, a lot of their portfolio in gold.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Stanley Druckenmiller, he said that gold is the future. You
- 31:23Speaker 4: got a CIO, chief investment officer at another big bank said,
- 31:29Speaker 4: we had 40% of our portfolio in treasuries. We're cutting
- 31:34Speaker 4: that in half. We just sold 20% of our treasuries,
- 31:38Speaker 4: and we're using it all to buy gold.
- 31:41Speaker 1: The bottom line is this, and then I'll let you
- 31:43Speaker 1: depress me, but the bottom line is this. For everybody
- 31:46Speaker 1: out there listening and people get frustrated with you, listen,
- 31:49Speaker 1: the reality is until there's some type of agreement here
- 31:53Speaker 1: with the situation in Iran, the economy is going to
- 31:57Speaker 1: be in a difficult situation because of uncertainty and the
- 32:02Speaker 1: price of oil. And we are an oil-based economy. And
- 32:07Speaker 1: it's just going to go back and forth. Oh, there
- 32:09Speaker 1: could be a deal. Oil prices go down. Well, the
- 32:11Speaker 1: deal's off. Oil prices go back up. But in the meantime,
- 32:13Speaker 1: you're still stuck paying $ 4. 80 a gallon or more and
- 32:17Speaker 1: having that hurt. And then when you see AI, and
- 32:21Speaker 1: once again, the people that know AI are saying they're
- 32:24Speaker 1: underselling it, not overselling it. They're underselling AI. And how
- 32:27Speaker 1: many jobs? They replaced, what, 9,000, 10,000 jobs at Meta? Facebook,
- 32:32Speaker 1: if you will, with AI. Well, that's a huge number
- 32:35Speaker 1: of people losing their jobs. That's just the beginning. So
- 32:40Speaker 1: the country's got some serious issues ahead.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Now, forget all of that.
- 32:45Speaker 1: What were you going to depress me with, or was
- 32:46Speaker 1: that what you were going to depress me with, what
- 32:48Speaker 1: you said?
- 32:49Speaker 4: Well, another thing I was going to depress you with
- 32:51Speaker 4: is the reason why some of the best investment minds
- 32:57Speaker 4: in the world are buying gold is because They feel
- 33:02Speaker 4: just like me. Even if this war ends today.
- 33:06Speaker 6: We.
- 33:08Speaker 4: Have stagflation. Stagflation is the highest inflation to cure. So
- 33:15Speaker 4: regardless of whether the Straits of Hormuz opens and we
- 33:21Speaker 4: stop the war and we stop spending tens of billions
- 33:26Speaker 4: of dollars on this war, we're spending $ 1 billion a day.
- 33:32Speaker 4: on the Iranian war.
- 33:34Speaker 2: And we can't afford it.
- 33:36Speaker 4: Yeah, inflation, hold on to your seats, because inflation is
- 33:41Speaker 4: going to persist for a long time. That's why they're
- 33:45Speaker 4: all buying gold and silver and commodities.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I hope you're wrong. I've got to move along. I
- 33:53Speaker 1: appreciate it. Thank you, Fort Lauderdale. Frank, you're on the air.
- 33:58Speaker 6: Let me depress you a little bit more.
- 33:59Speaker 2: All right.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 34:02Speaker 6: Woody at the Firehounds Winery.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Yes.
- 34:06Speaker 6: He died.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Did he?
- 34:09Speaker 6: He died on Friday. Yeah, he's younger than me. He
- 34:13Speaker 6: died on Friday, but they held it a secret until
- 34:17Speaker 6: after Mother's Day.
- 34:19Speaker 2: How did you find out?
- 34:22Speaker 6: I got my way, son. I have my ways.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Really?
- 34:28Speaker 2: I mean, I had not heard that.
- 34:32Speaker 6: Yeah, he died. Well, I think it was Friday or Saturday.
- 34:36Speaker 6: But they didn't want to tell nobody until after Mother's
- 34:39Speaker 6: Day that they didn't want to get everybody depressed.
- 34:44Speaker 3: All because of tourism.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Wow.
- 34:48Speaker 1: He was a hell of a guy. I mean, I
- 34:50Speaker 1: spent a lot of time obviously doing commercials with him
- 34:54Speaker 1: and doing some remote broadcasts from up at Old Firehouse.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I'm sorry to hear that.
- 34:59Speaker 6: Yeah, he died. Now, we're screwed on this oil deal.
- 35:04Speaker 6: Trump got us so far down. And I don't want
- 35:07Speaker 6: to hear it no more about the Democrats because you
- 35:10Speaker 6: were part of that plan.
- 35:13Speaker 2: What do you mean? So wait a minute, wait a minute,
- 35:15Speaker 2: wait a minute. Stand by. Let me do my commercials.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Let me do my commercials. I'll come back to you.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Hang on.
- 35:20Speaker 1: It sounds like an irate caller standing by. Ron Verb,
- 35:24Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570 WKBN 352 at 62 degrees. All right, go.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Ahead with what you were going to say, Irie Caller.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Huh?
- 35:35Speaker 2: Go ahead with what you were saying.
- 35:37Speaker 6: Oh, just about you and your buddy there being Democrats,
- 35:41Speaker 6: you know, voting for Obama and all that. We tried
- 35:45Speaker 6: to tell you, but you wouldn't listen. Hey, now, when
- 35:50Speaker 6: these politicians get hired on, is their pay private or
- 35:56Speaker 6: is it public?
- 35:58Speaker 2: No, it's public, their pay.
- 36:00Speaker 6: Well, somebody better come up here and tell our local
- 36:03Speaker 6: newspaper because they said that I'm nosy because Metro Parts
- 36:09Speaker 6: hired a bird watcher. A bird watcher. But it didn't
- 36:19Speaker 6: have no pay on there. And I called the reporter
- 36:23Speaker 6: and did I get screamed at? Because I wanted to know,
- 36:27Speaker 6: they said I was nosy.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Well, so what? You want to know what they paid
- 36:31Speaker 2: for the birdwatcher?
- 36:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Well, I don't care if you're nosy or not. That
- 36:36Speaker 2: should be, I mean, it is.
- 36:37Speaker 3: I know. That's a government worker.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it should be public record.
- 36:41Speaker 6: Well, the newspaper says no.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Based on what?
- 36:45Speaker 6: This is Dave Thomas territory.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I'll ask, I'll have to ask Dave Thomas.
- 36:51Speaker 6: Yeah, that don't make no sense. I'm going to commissioners
- 36:56Speaker 6: meeting this week or next week.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I forget.
- 37:01Speaker 6: But I'm going. And I want some answers.
- 37:05Speaker 1: In other words, what are we paying for the bird
- 37:07Speaker 1: watcher for the Metro Parks in Ashtabula?
- 37:10Speaker 6: Well, we know what we're paying the head honcho. He's
- 37:14Speaker 6: getting almost $ 180, 000 or so just to put a.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Park in a field.
- 37:20Speaker 6: You know, for horses.
- 37:23Speaker 2: All right. All right. Good hearing you.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Other good news? Want me to tell you some more?
- 37:28Speaker 2: Yeah, quickly.
- 37:29Speaker 6: I'm dying.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Really?
- 37:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I stopped all my treatment.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Stand by. Stand by. Hang in there. I want to
- 37:38Speaker 1: talk to you after the news break.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Back in a minute. News Radio 570 WKBN and Ron Verbstate.
- 37:48Speaker 5: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen. Health officials say 17
- 37:52Speaker 5: Americans and one British national living in the U.S. are
- 37:54Speaker 5: now in quarantine at medical facilities in Nebraska and Georgia.
- 37:58Speaker 5: The majority in Omaha. ABC's Steve Osensami says two patients
- 38:02Speaker 5: are at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.
- 38:04Speaker 7: In a statement from Emory Hospital, they say that they're
- 38:07Speaker 7: working in coordination with local, state, and federal partners, that
- 38:11Speaker 7: they've received two passengers here from the cruise ship following
- 38:14Speaker 7: the outbreak. One is symptomatic. and is receiving care in
- 38:19Speaker 7: Emory's biocontainment unit, and one is asymptomatic currently, identified as
- 38:25Speaker 7: a close contact, and is undergoing evaluation and monitoring.
- 38:29Speaker 5: President Trump rejecting Iran's response to a ceasefire memo.
- 38:33Speaker 2: The U.S.
- 38:33Speaker 5: And Iran remain stalled over reopening the Strait of Hormuz
- 38:37Speaker 5: and also Iran's nuclear ambitions. ABC's Karen Travers has more.
- 38:40Speaker 8: The big sticking point for weeks, for months now, of course,
