- 0:49So for today's episode, we're going to be talking about wife
- 0:52material or what it takes to be a very good wife material in the
- 0:57African and Mandarin sense. Of that word.
- 1:01So this discussion was inspired by talking mocking were media
- 1:07personality in Nigeria. She came out and she mates, you
- 1:11do some certain claims in her tweets or what she put us in our
- 1:17social media page. So let me just read that for
- 1:21you. So talk are marking what
- 1:23basically said Nigerian men's definition of a strong woman.
- 1:29One is long suffering, emotional abuse and high tolerance of
- 1:35accepting bad behavior. You will hear them.
- 1:38Say she turned, the boy in me into a man.
- 1:43That means that her name is endurance.
- 1:47The woman has endured. She went on to say that Society
- 1:52encourages, that sort of narrative, women are seen as
- 1:56strong by the amount of BS. She has to endure till the
- 2:02money's ready to give her. Peace.
- 2:05When they meet the woman who stands up for themselves Society
- 2:09label them as Wayward and too opinionated.
- 2:14Who is the society again, so she's basically asking who are
- 2:19these people making these rules? A lot of people are tucked,
- 2:22talking back in were saying that she's not qualified to even make
- 2:27such General statements about Nigerian men.
- 2:29Some people argue that talking like a should have just said, so
- 2:33men, instead of saying nice. Jared management.
- 2:37So they came out it, especially the main they argued on that
- 2:42basis, that she should not have generalized All Nigerian men to
- 2:46say their own and remain, are abusive, emotionally, abusive.
- 2:51And not giving you a wife piece. So let me just give you a bit of
- 2:55a background about talking McKeon work.
- 2:57I cannot show you that talking Mark and what is very qualified
- 3:01to have said what she said talking mocking what has been
- 3:04through it. It she made, she dated her
- 3:09ex-husband for over 11 years. They finally got married and got
- 3:14married, was short-lived. Because she said, she was
- 3:17enduring everything before the marriage.
- 3:20She, he was cheating. He had a side chickie.
- 3:24He had different girlfriends and she was busy working footing.
- 3:28The bills. He was living in her house, but
- 3:31she felt. Okay.
- 3:32This is somebody I love. This is somebody I want to spend
- 3:34the rest of My life with. I am happy to do, everything
- 3:39takes to make him mine. So she was the typical Nigerian
- 3:45and do your wing woman and a lot of people classified her as a
- 3:49good woman at that point in time until they got married.
- 3:54She said after they got married, the abuse continued.
- 3:57He was still going about doing everything he was doing, he left
- 4:01her to do stuff, out everything in the house.
- 4:05Why he was spending his money on his side chick who apparently at
- 4:09that point in time got pregnant had their son Tucker said she
- 4:13was not, she knew that he was dating this other lady, but she
- 4:19was thinking. Okay, now that she is the wife.
- 4:22He would not continue without relationship or she said, most
- 4:27of the time that they were married.
- 4:28He was always traveling that because he's kind of a fitness
- 4:32trainer. So she said you was always
- 4:34traveling. They claiming to be going for
- 4:36One Fitness job or the other or warm Fitness seminar or the
- 4:40other. But he always end up in the side
- 4:44chicks house. So when she found out that they
- 4:48had a child. She said, she confronted him.
- 4:51I think even before the wedding, but he denied everything.
- 4:54But when she actually found out that he is the father of her
- 4:59child. She called of the marriage, and
- 5:01that was how that wedding ended. So it's true.
- 5:05Can I can walk qualify to have said what she said?
- 5:07Yes, because she had be, she wasn't typical Nigerian woman.
- 5:12Talking has been through it. All Tokyo was married to this
- 5:16man. Took care detailing for 11
- 5:19years. She was hoping praying to be the
- 5:22one. He chose among collateral of
- 5:26girlfriends and, you know, side chicks and baby mamas.
- 5:29And when he eventually picked her she was thinking.
- 5:33Okay. This is going to be Final boss
- 5:35stop is going to since his made a choice.
- 5:38He would kind of stick with her. But that was not the case.
- 5:43He was still feeling entitled to go out the eggs with cheese and
- 5:46all that. And when she decided to leave
- 5:49the marriage she was tagged, Wayward.
- 5:53She was tagged to bad wife. She was tagged huge.
- 5:58They courted only whole lot of names saying that she could not
- 6:02a big deal. She did not give her husband
- 6:04Pete. This, that was why he went out
- 6:07today. This other lady to get her
- 6:09pregnant that she could not. She was career-focused.
- 6:13That was why she couldn't get pregnant.
- 6:15And he goes somebody else pregnant.
- 6:17So it was a whole lot of backlash.
- 6:20So for talking mocking, what to have, come out to say those
- 6:24things and to have tweeted or steam, it is coming from a place
- 6:27of experience. I think in Africa, or in
- 6:30Nigeria, especially because I'm going to speak as a Nigerian and
- 6:35I Our enrollment. There is this expectation that
- 6:41people expect from the lady. Let's say you're getting
- 6:44married. Nobody is selling the husband.
- 6:46You have to give you a wife, peace.
- 6:49Nobody is looking at the wives piece.
- 6:51It is always give you a man, peace.
- 6:54Give your husband peace and that comes with a whole lot of BS
- 6:58because if you were giving peace, I don't see how you're
- 7:03going to give somebody piece in. If you're alive or your
- 7:06girlfriend, you're dating somebody and that person is
- 7:09going out doing whatever they are doing.
- 7:12And you are aware of it. I don't see how you're going to
- 7:15give that person piece. You're going to enjoy for some
- 7:19time. Yes, you're going to put on your
- 7:21big girl pants and be like, okay.
- 7:24We are in this relationship over in this marriage for better for
- 7:27worse. One day.
- 7:29You're going to snap. One day, you're going to get
- 7:31tired of it and you're going to give that.
- 7:35And peace in as much as men are thinking.
- 7:38Okay. I want to get somebody that will
- 7:39give us. Peace.
- 7:40Are you able to, do you even have peace within yourself?
- 7:44You have fulfillment within yourself?
- 7:46Because if you don't have peace and you're going out and you
- 7:50marry somebody and you're thinking okay, this person is
- 7:52going to give me peace. But within yourself, you don't
- 7:55have peace. You're just going to frustrate
- 7:58Somebody's Daughter and that person's daughter is going to
- 8:01give you peace. You need enough piece for
- 8:03yourself even. In the ladies, I mean if you're
- 8:06getting married to somebody thinking this person is going
- 8:08to, you know, fulfill my whatever or they're going to
- 8:13make me happy because women men are looking for peace.
- 8:17Women are looking for happiness. So if you're not making me
- 8:22happy, I am not going to give you peace.
- 8:24I think that is where the whole thing, clashes so men, get your
- 8:31piece yourself, find inner. Peace.
- 8:35Sure, you're doing what? You're not going to do because I
- 8:37the end of the day, if we look at most of the comments that
- 8:40came from this treat. Everybody was saying, why would
- 8:44you not give your husband peace? Even if it's doing anything that
- 8:47he's doing? He's the man of the house.
- 8:50You should allow him to do those things.
- 8:52And then I was reading those comments and I'm like, you think
- 8:57you can get away with even if I don't leave any even if I want
- 9:01to enjoy that marriage, just for the sake of Of keeping face just
- 9:07for the sake of still answering mrs.
- 9:10I'm going to stay there and in durable piece.
- 9:15You're going to get peace. Think we're talking about here
- 9:19is trying to say is that you cannot abuse, Somebody's
- 9:24Daughter, emotionally mentally, psychologically, physically and
- 9:29all the wise, and then you expect to have peace and
- 9:33sometimes I don't think with how men are so broken.
- 9:39Some of them, some of them are so broken, that they don't even
- 9:43know when the abuse they don't even worry is abuse because you
- 9:48know, most times some of these people grow up in homes where it
- 9:53is vast moose, you know, your issues are what I was trying to,
- 9:57your father is throwing, daggers everybody shouted and to then
- 10:02doesn't want my family, so you If somebody coming up from that
- 10:06sort of environment and getting married to somebody thinking, I
- 10:12want peace. Because if you're coming from a
- 10:14very dysfunctional home, the first thing they're looking for
- 10:17is peace, and we don't remember, you're carrying a whole lot of
- 10:22baggage from where you're coming from and then you getting
- 10:25married to somebody thinking, you want, peace.
- 10:27And then you're doing everything that you've learned through that
- 10:32person without even realizing it.
- 10:35And then that person is reacting based on what you're doing and
- 10:40you're saying, oh, this person is not a good wife.
- 10:43It's not giving me peace. After all, my my mother endured
- 10:47everything. My mother's name is endurance.
- 10:50She took everything like a champ.
- 10:53She was there for my father regardless of anything.
- 10:56Now, this generation of women. Nobody wants to endure marriage.
- 11:00Nobody wants to endure suffering lesson.
- 11:03We are work generation. Get with the program.
- 11:06If you want peace, be ready to make somebody happy.
- 11:10And if you cannot make somebody happy, don't expect that person
- 11:13to give you peace because it goes hand in hand.
- 11:17If a woman is happy. She is going to give you peace
- 11:23you. She's not happy then.
- 11:25I don't see how you should expect because if we didn't
- 11:29sell, if she doesn't have happiness.
- 11:32She is no peaceful. You won't come.
- 11:35So I don't see how she's going to give what she doesn't have.
- 11:39I don't see how anybody can project happiness.
- 11:43When inside, they're not even happy.
- 11:45I think this whole thing boils down to Inner Peace, inner
- 11:50happiness, before you go out, looking for somebody to make you
- 11:54happy and show that within yourself.
- 11:56You happy before you go out to give somebody to give you peace
- 12:00and show that we did in yourself.
- 12:02You have peace and you can actually give peace.
- 12:05Because if you have peace within yourself, you're going to be
- 12:07peaceful. What are you like it or not?
- 12:10If you're happy within yourself, you're going to light up a room
- 12:14regardless of the mood in that room.
- 12:17So, be fulfilled in yourself. Don't seek fulfillment from
- 12:21somebody else. Be happy within yourself.
- 12:23Don't seek happiness from somebody else.
- 12:26Then I see who I think people can come together and then make
- 12:30things forward but Africa, especially Nigeria.
- 12:35They just few that no matter how broken in man is a woman is
- 12:40supposed to endure a woman is supposed to fix that.
- 12:44Nobody teaches the man, how to be your husband.
- 12:47Everybody is focused on the woman, how to be a good wife.
- 12:52And when she now get into, he has embodied all those things.
- 12:56She's learned. How to, please her husband.
- 12:58She's learned how to take care of our children.
- 13:00She's learned how to keep your home.
- 13:02And then you're getting into Union with somebody that That
- 13:05has no clue. Has no idea.
- 13:09And just think that, okay, you are coming in there to serve
- 13:12them. They are literally children that
- 13:15you have to nurture. You don't train like, I don't
- 13:21know. Does everybody have the patience
- 13:24to do that. I think this is where the
- 13:26difference is, this generation. We don't have patience.
- 13:30We, we don't have patience to sit down and take the It has
- 13:36some people. Do some people still have that
- 13:38patience Bowl. I think what we're seeing is
- 13:41that majority are saying, I don't have to take it like
- 13:45talking mocking, what she can do it for 11 years before getting
- 13:50married to a husband and that Mary didn't even last hope to, I
- 13:54think. Yeah, it will last up to a year
- 13:58before she was like I'm doing I cannot potty-trained.
- 14:05This person. So marrying.
- 14:08Learn how to be husbands Before You Accuse.
- 14:11Somebody of not being a good wife Before You Accuse.
- 14:15Somebody of not being a wife material, sit down and ask
- 14:19yourself. Are you husband material?
- 14:21And it's know about finances. It's not about or I can go to
- 14:25work. I can provide for the family.
- 14:27That is not the point. Can you provide security for
- 14:32emotional security, for that person?
- 14:35Can you be there? Can you have you seen one man?
- 14:40I think they are literally, like babies or when the wife is sick.
- 14:44They don't. They just be grumbling are not
- 14:48eating. I've not done this.
- 14:49I've not done that. Put that woman is sick.
- 14:52Why not, you know, take care of her.
- 14:54The way she takes care of you. But they said, oh, women we have
- 14:58to nurture, but the main they have to provide most times.
- 15:03Hello women. Provide as much as men do
- 15:06provide. So it, I think this is where the
- 15:09balance has shifted. If you're in this Century.
- 15:12If you 20 22 and you're thinking, that's the whole
- 15:16responsibility of a man is to provide then you've lost the
- 15:20plot. Then you wake up one day and
- 15:23say, women don't enjoy because you're providing she's providing
- 15:27and then you expecting her to give you peace happiness, love
- 15:31and children. While you just bring money to
- 15:34the table. She's also bringing money.
- 15:37She don't need your money. So where she bounds, you know,
- 15:43the say the worker generation. This is why the wolf generation.
- 15:48They are not interested in marriages, if you found that
- 15:51person your person, then that's perfect, but don't end you
- 15:59because once you enjoying your relationship, you're going to
- 16:01enjoy marriage is like, hello? That's going to happen.
- 16:04Happen. So, before people come for
- 16:07taking, I mean, I don't agree with everything that okay says,
- 16:10but I think she is speaking from, you know, from experience.
- 16:14She's been through this. A lot of times we say, oh, we
- 16:19don't know. And they have to learn from
- 16:21experience. But the same people if you're
- 16:24telling them don't, and you're certain things before you get
- 16:27married to somebody, they will tell you.
- 16:29You don't want me to get married.
- 16:31You want me to be as miserable as you are.
- 16:33You don't want me to. No, it just make a modest
- 16:36excuses. And then when they get into that
- 16:38relationship will get into that. Marriage has decided realising,
- 16:42ah, taka is actually right? She was making sense, but I
- 16:47chose to ignore it. So sometimes you do not have to
- 16:52believe everything that anybody is saying, but if the message
- 16:56is, don't be a doormat, don't NGO?
- 17:01Because this same menu, you can tolerate the achieve.
- 17:04Eating but kids somebody that marriage or relationship is
- 17:10over, but they're literally going to bring a baby and dumped
- 17:13on you and expect you to take it.
- 17:16They're not going to give you peace.
- 17:17But once you give them war is going to be.
- 17:21She is bad. She is this and she is part.
- 17:24So I think the whole moral of this is do unto others what you
- 17:28want them to do unto you if you don't have peace within
- 17:32yourself, don't expect. Peace.
- 17:35That person if you don't have happiness within yourself, don't
- 17:38expect somebody else to give you happiness.
- 17:40If you don't, if you want fulfilled internally, don't
- 17:44think somebody can fulfill you don't think.
- 17:46Marriage can feel. You don't think relationship can
- 17:49make you who you have to find those things yourself.
- 17:53You have to be fulfilled yourself.
- 17:55You have to find purpose within yourself.
- 17:57So that when you get into, you know, things that are not
- 18:02working, is it, are you? Find how to compartmentalize
- 18:07everything and deal with them or you be like, work generation and
- 18:13bounce. So let me know your opinion.
- 18:19Do you think talking Mike and why is out of line to have said
- 18:22what she said or do you think she because of the fact that she
- 18:26generalized saying that Nigerian men?
- 18:30She has she lost the plot or she lost the whole line in that.
- 18:35Bots is the message. True is the fact that Nigerian
- 18:40women and do a lot, especially European women, ah, your by
- 18:47women and your ass is their name.
- 18:50I don't want to generalize so it's not like, oh, it's old
- 18:53Yoruba. We met for so many about women.
- 18:55I know some of them and what? They take, even a relationship,
- 19:03ah, hmm. Nah, so anyway, let me hear your
- 19:09comments. Let me hear your views and thank
- 19:12you very much for watching. Bye.
