- 1:35Speaker 5: Today's a I'm choosing, You're choosing us to be a
- 1:39Speaker 5: What is a psmist right now, Yeah, you know, if
- 1:41Speaker 5: you're gonna be a rapper, you gotta have a backup.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Or something, right, y'all, let me tell y'all something.
- 1:45Speaker 5: So we did forty days a focus shout out to
- 1:48Speaker 5: the safe space community, be a Patreon, and we did
- 1:52Speaker 5: four days of focus, and I challenged desil Ray to pray.
- 1:57Speaker 5: She actually end up praying more than she agreed to.
- 2:01Speaker 2: She did because you love the Lord and you love
- 2:04Speaker 2: me too.
- 2:04Speaker 5: Because the woman a God lost her voice during the
- 2:06Speaker 5: forty days of focus, and so we're praying at for
- 2:09Speaker 5: thirty in the morning. And one of the mornings she
- 2:11Speaker 5: she said she wasn't gonna.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Pray, she was gonna worship. She turned on the song.
- 2:17Speaker 2: So she's been in a singing spirit for a minute. Child.
- 2:20Speaker 5: I don't know what I'm gonna do, is y'all pray
- 2:21Speaker 5: for Desiltray, catch me in the owner Stellers in the
- 2:25Speaker 5: not the stellers, Jesus, not the stellers. Not getting not
- 2:29Speaker 5: getting awards. I ain't mad at it. So if you're
- 2:32Speaker 5: getting awards for singing, I can get awards for a rapping. Well,
- 2:36Speaker 5: it's probably not gonna be for sing It's probably gonna
- 2:38Speaker 5: be like Best Producer of the Year or something.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Let's go, let's go.
- 2:42Speaker 5: They need to do a best podcast for the Stello Awards.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Go ahead and give me my money, b e t
- 2:48Speaker 5: go ahead and give me my money. So best best podcast.
- 2:51Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 2:51Speaker 5: Go and and and don't be, don't be you know
- 2:54Speaker 5: you know sting you with the awards show, the show,
- 2:56Speaker 5: the micro influences.
- 2:59Speaker 2: I love. Okay, we're out here doing the work of
- 3:01Speaker 2: the Lord.
- 3:02Speaker 5: All right, y'all, speaking of the work of the Lord, ma'am,
- 3:06Speaker 5: I got my ace.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Con in the building, does alray? I don't think they're ready.
- 3:10Speaker 5: I don't even know if I'm ready because I got
- 3:13Speaker 5: my ace, I got my blood like I got my
- 3:18Speaker 5: best screend y'all might know her as Kindle tried it,
- 3:23Speaker 5: but I know her as.
- 3:25Speaker 2: My sissy Pool.
- 3:27Speaker 5: So I ain't welcoming again to the platform again, my
- 3:31Speaker 5: real sister Kendall Smith.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Y'all.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Y'all, y'all, I'm happy I thought it from the bottom.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Now were here, you are here.
- 3:56Speaker 5: This is Kendle's first time baby b G TV Studios,
- 3:59Speaker 5: beautiful brutalle for like the camera. Look, y'all, I see me. See,
- 4:11Speaker 5: they don't believe it's two of us, and so they
- 4:14Speaker 5: really get confused.
- 4:15Speaker 2: So almost one those glasses.
- 4:17Speaker 5: They really would have been missing it. They would have
- 4:19Speaker 5: been messing, would havessed up. Speaking of glasses, come on, now,
- 4:22Speaker 5: we we got these frames local here in Birmingham, Alabama,
- 4:26Speaker 5: from Glamour for Eyes. Listen, the best experience my hands down,
- 4:32Speaker 5: that I've been wearing glasses for at least five six years.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Now, put on put mine on palls. I did.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Yeah, Kenda was blind. Blind is bad, but now I
- 4:41Speaker 5: can see amazing grace. Alright, but shout out to Glamour
- 4:46Speaker 5: for Eyes. Y'all go ahead and check them. I will
- 4:48Speaker 5: link them down below. Make sure it's a black on
- 4:53Speaker 5: female on business. And when I tell you top tier excellence,
- 4:58Speaker 5: get you something.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Frames are really fashionable. Yeah, they're like just not basic
- 5:03Speaker 2: at all, not basic at all.
- 5:04Speaker 5: It's y'all see I've been wearing mind this is I
- 5:06Speaker 5: think these are gonna be my every day with your
- 5:08Speaker 5: every day where now that you can see, I see you,
- 5:12Speaker 5: you kendle you. It's been a minute since you've been
- 5:18Speaker 5: on the platform. So we got some ketching up to do.
- 5:20Speaker 5: We got some ketching up to do.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Because you you.
- 5:25Speaker 5: We've been in seasons, We've had some some some trials,
- 5:30Speaker 5: tribulations and triumphs. So if you don't know Kendall, Kendle
- 5:39Speaker 5: is a loctician, she's a mother, she's a content creator.
- 5:44Speaker 5: And I think I want to get into the content
- 5:46Speaker 5: creation first because you You've gone from being known for
- 5:51Speaker 5: being a loctician.
- 5:52Speaker 2: This is who does my locks? Okay, everybody, well give
- 5:56Speaker 2: me a.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Second, and still known for the bus downs on the locks,
- 6:04Speaker 5: but now you've entered the space where you are known
- 6:07Speaker 5: as a food content creator.
- 6:09Speaker 2: How in the world did we get to hear good?
- 6:16Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 6:19Speaker 5: Seriously, I tell people this story because my clients come
- 6:22Speaker 5: in because I transitioned my page from kendl'sdred Heads to
- 6:25Speaker 5: Kendle tried it, and my clients come in there like Kindle,
- 6:29Speaker 5: like what happened?
- 6:30Speaker 2: Like you know, is this what you want to do? Seriously?
- 6:33Speaker 2: And I'm like, I had no I like having fun.
- 6:36Speaker 5: I'm really having fun doing this and it's not it's
- 6:39Speaker 5: not to be like.
- 6:42Speaker 2: On Food Network at all.
- 6:44Speaker 5: But you know, you don't know what God has and
- 6:45Speaker 5: starting for you and the plants he has for you.
- 6:47Speaker 2: But I will say.
- 6:52Speaker 5: One day, I was coming from the gym and I
- 6:55Speaker 5: called my baby. She had she had been on her
- 6:57Speaker 5: best behavior, okay, my oldest, and I said, hey, what
- 7:00Speaker 5: you want for breakfast? And she was like, I want
- 7:02Speaker 5: pop donuts And I was like okay, And I was
- 7:05Speaker 5: really irritated. I was really gonna call her and say,
- 7:07Speaker 5: I don't feel like getting out. It was leg day,
- 7:09Speaker 5: doesn't come on. I didn't feel like my knees were
- 7:14Speaker 5: shaken and buckley, and I didn't fel like int that
- 7:17Speaker 5: was something to say, get out. So I had got
- 7:18Speaker 5: into this space where I was tired of doing hair content,
- 7:21Speaker 5: like y'all don't understand the things and the questions and
- 7:26Speaker 5: the weird things that come with hair content. I just
- 7:30Speaker 5: I got overwhelming with hair content. I was like, it's
- 7:32Speaker 5: so much more to me than hair. Yeah, And I
- 7:36Speaker 5: got like I would y'all. I would be like at
- 7:38Speaker 5: the bar, like drinking, you know, having a good time vibe,
- 7:41Speaker 5: and people be like, so how do I book or
- 7:45Speaker 5: da da da da, and It's like, that's not my ideentity.
- 7:47Speaker 5: I wanted to be known more for just hair right
- 7:50Speaker 5: because I think I'm funny. I think you know I
- 7:53Speaker 5: love you know, celebrity gossip. You know, I've always loved it. Yeah,
- 7:56Speaker 5: so I was just like, I'm just gonna be posting
- 7:58Speaker 5: random stuff, like just random stuff and what they call
- 8:00Speaker 5: a no niche content cript.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 5: So I was posting some random stuff, you know, some
- 8:04Speaker 5: stuff hit. I'll talk about celebrities. Some of that stuff
- 8:06Speaker 5: a hit or whatever what they say go viral or whatever,
- 8:11Speaker 5: but mainly just really I had it was on me
- 8:15Speaker 5: to just post every day. So went to Pop Donuts
- 8:18Speaker 5: got out y'all. If you know you're in the Creator fund, yeah,
- 8:23Speaker 5: you have ten k followers on TikTok, you have to
- 8:26Speaker 5: post at least one minute.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Video, right, Yeah. So I was trying to do that
- 8:29Speaker 2: on all my videos. So this man kind of interrupted me.
- 8:33Speaker 5: When I go in, I literally go in and say, y'all,
- 8:35Speaker 5: this is the best donuts. Da da da da, and
- 8:37Speaker 5: I recorded and the man wes uh. This man is
- 8:42Speaker 5: going off about some of them having the egg on
- 8:45Speaker 5: the sounds or whatever. So I stopped the I stopped
- 8:47Speaker 5: the camera and I'm like it stopped at fifty three seconds.
- 8:49Speaker 5: So I was like, oh, this is not gonna do
- 8:51Speaker 5: anything anyway, because I'm literally just posted and y'all.
- 8:54Speaker 2: It blew up and I was like, what So instead.
- 8:57Speaker 5: Of just like leaving it there the next day, I
- 9:00Speaker 5: was like, let me go to another restaurant to see
- 9:02Speaker 5: you and see if.
- 9:02Speaker 2: It's actually working. Did it again? Did it again? And
- 9:07Speaker 2: he and more people start watching me following me. Kendall,
- 9:10Speaker 2: you so funny, you so natural that I was like, okay,
- 9:13Speaker 2: so I guess this works for me and it's working.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I love it, I really do.
- 9:17Speaker 5: I UH being recognized is probably the most uncomfortable thing.
- 9:22Speaker 5: I did a little bit get recognized as Kendall' Dredheads,
- 9:25Speaker 5: but Kendall tried it has been a little bit more
- 9:28Speaker 5: because you see more of my face. I guess who's
- 9:30Speaker 5: recognized you that you're the most surprised that recognized you.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I don't know or who has?
- 9:37Speaker 5: Who have you connected with me and Kendall tried it
- 9:41Speaker 5: that you would have never been able to as Kendall
- 9:43Speaker 5: dred the mayor of a Centerpoint buzz down like I mean,
- 9:47Speaker 5: other people have. I have a lot of other uh
- 9:51Speaker 5: creators that are here logo, they are being well known
- 9:53Speaker 5: that follow me and interact with me.
- 9:55Speaker 2: But I think that was the biggest thing back, I'm political, like,
- 9:57Speaker 2: don't play with to Mayor Scott, Bob Scott. He found
- 10:02Speaker 2: me though.
- 10:03Speaker 5: It's funny because the first place I want, one of
- 10:04Speaker 5: the first few places, of course, was around center point.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:08Speaker 5: So I was putting center point it's two words, and
- 10:12Speaker 5: his comments and his daughter coming on there and she
- 10:14Speaker 5: was just saying, oh yeah, I love that place.
- 10:15Speaker 2: To forget what she said. But he coming out of that,
- 10:18Speaker 2: he said, center point is one word, I said, not.
- 10:21Speaker 5: Getting you together, give me together, may Scott. And he's
- 10:26Speaker 5: just so cool and interactive, and I think that's the
- 10:29Speaker 5: most and it's more than just like following me.
- 10:32Speaker 2: We interact with one another online.
- 10:34Speaker 5: So I really I think that's the most. Like I
- 10:39Speaker 5: don't know, it's surprised. I am, like you know who I.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Am, Yeah, you know.
- 10:42Speaker 5: So yeah, what has been like the most rewarding moment
- 10:46Speaker 5: like that you've had since you've because I don't think
- 10:49Speaker 5: you've I can't say you've changed. I feel like you've
- 10:53Speaker 5: added it because people still, like you said, people still
- 10:55Speaker 5: you still sell out on the bookings. Okay, you still
- 10:59Speaker 5: you still get you still locking and twisting and all
- 11:02Speaker 5: the other locked terms or whatever. But what has been
- 11:05Speaker 5: the most rewarding opportunity that you feel like you've had
- 11:09Speaker 5: been Kimba, not Kimba's your heads. But Kendall tried it
- 11:12Speaker 5: because you've only been doing this with for four.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Months since August.
- 11:16Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I know this sound weird, but like I'm
- 11:22Speaker 5: popping with my daughter. My daughter's in middle school, so
- 11:25Speaker 5: her friends are on TikTok. I don't like how to
- 11:27Speaker 5: be on TikTok. So I think, you know, I don't
- 11:32Speaker 5: know if people think they mom's cool. You know what
- 11:34Speaker 5: I'm saying, Like you don't realize your mama coolness. You
- 11:36Speaker 5: get older sometimes, but most of the times, if your
- 11:39Speaker 5: friends giving your mama or your day to day.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Attention, you like, hold on that.
- 11:42Speaker 5: That's that's see to her, I was just mama, but
- 11:44Speaker 5: all her friends think I'm so cool.
- 11:46Speaker 2: So I think I ain't gonna lie like like I
- 11:49Speaker 2: walked up in school, mad oh, they gonna Ki tried it.
- 11:53Speaker 5: And she'll FaceTime my friends. Is like, y'all want to
- 11:54Speaker 5: talk to Kendall tried. I'm like girl, I me and
- 11:56Speaker 5: my bunny like like she Kddie will FaceTime her friends
- 12:02Speaker 5: and be like this my mam or whatever.
- 12:04Speaker 2: But I love it.
- 12:05Speaker 5: The kids love it. I love it, like I think
- 12:08Speaker 5: that's the most rewarding. And also j small businesses don't
- 12:17Speaker 5: get a lot of attention yeah in Birmingham. And I
- 12:20Speaker 5: always say Birmingham is like a popularity CD. They like
- 12:23Speaker 5: to roll off of who popping.
- 12:24Speaker 2: And who did this and who got this? Who got that.
- 12:28Speaker 5: I ain't never been no go off of popularity nothing. Yeah,
- 12:30Speaker 5: I will sit back and watch. And a lot of
- 12:33Speaker 5: these restaurants don't get an attention because when they don't
- 12:36Speaker 5: have these big budget to pay, these content creators come
- 12:39Speaker 5: in yeah and pay you know whatever they pay or
- 12:41Speaker 5: whatever their fees. I don't charge anything and I'm a
- 12:44Speaker 5: c like I've told people I want to be the
- 12:45Speaker 5: Keith Lear Bernerham. I won't charge nothing, like like I
- 12:48Speaker 5: wanna get my money from bigger platforms if I you know,
- 12:51Speaker 5: if if God allows it. And I'm you know, walking
- 12:53Speaker 5: to their space. But I know a lot of people
- 12:55Speaker 5: be like, no, you know your worth. I do know
- 12:57Speaker 5: my worth. Like I know that I care so much
- 13:00Speaker 5: about Birmingham. It's around the ears. I know I care
- 13:02Speaker 5: so much about uh small businesses that I will promote
- 13:07Speaker 5: them if I believe in them. And what they're doing
- 13:09Speaker 5: and customer service, food all that. If I believe in you,
- 13:14Speaker 5: I mean, the reward to me, honestly is just see
- 13:19Speaker 5: your business grow, you know what I mean. And some
- 13:22Speaker 5: people don't want to be big congratuated. They want to
- 13:24Speaker 5: stay small. They like they' and that's okay. So I
- 13:27Speaker 5: think that's why I want to connect with smaller businesses here.
- 13:30Speaker 5: I don't care about the glitz, the glamour all that.
- 13:32Speaker 5: And so many of these owners have personally thanked me.
- 13:35Speaker 5: They didn't even know I worked a boxing their restaurant.
- 13:37Speaker 5: It was like, thank you for not asking for nothing
- 13:38Speaker 5: for free, thank you for tipping me, thank you for
- 13:40Speaker 5: being polite and kind, like I ain't looking for nothing.
- 13:43Speaker 5: I'm just really I'm when I say, I'm really having
- 13:45Speaker 5: a good time, I'm having a good time doing this.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm glad you are.
- 13:49Speaker 5: And I'm and I'm not gonna get too much into
- 13:52Speaker 5: like businesses that don't appreciate And I don't like saying
- 13:56Speaker 5: micro influencers, but in what the world the times as
- 14:00Speaker 5: micro influencers, you can tell the businesses that because they've
- 14:04Speaker 5: had clout or they have they have macro influencers. They
- 14:11Speaker 5: are promoting them or whatnot. They don't have respect for
- 14:15Speaker 5: micro influencers. And we're not gonna say any names because
- 14:18Speaker 5: I'm I mean, it doesn't matter.
- 14:20Speaker 2: People know who they are.
- 14:22Speaker 5: But like, I think that for you to experience some
- 14:25Speaker 5: of the things that you've experienced and still remain like
- 14:31Speaker 5: desiring to go on this field because this is still
- 14:35Speaker 5: new for you, Like this happened like overnight. So you
- 14:38Speaker 5: brought up Katie right shout out to my that's my
- 14:41Speaker 5: that's my baby, that's my baby. Keda said that I
- 14:45Speaker 5: was her baby daddy when she was pretty net different
- 14:47Speaker 5: I was. I was, It's okay, it's all right. I
- 14:51Speaker 5: earned that probably when we were younger, because I don't
- 14:54Speaker 5: I think I was a little. But you brought up Katie,
- 15:00Speaker 5: And I'm curious to know because Katie, Katie picks up
- 15:04Speaker 5: fast on things. What has that dynamic been license she's
- 15:08Speaker 5: seen your success, especially her friends acknowledging you and stuff
- 15:12Speaker 5: like that, Like is she curious what does she want
- 15:14Speaker 5: to like grow in entrepreneurship?
- 15:16Speaker 2: Like what is the conversation like with her? Because Katie is.
- 15:19Speaker 5: Eleven, yes, right, yep, she's eleven going on twenty five.
- 15:23Speaker 5: She is Kaden's is such a star. When I say star,
- 15:30Speaker 5: like she was born into this like bright world, like
- 15:37Speaker 5: she she's going to get attention no matter where she is.
- 15:41Speaker 5: She don't even have to now. I tell people she
- 15:44Speaker 5: was born with an attitude. But with that attitude comes
- 15:48Speaker 5: so much confidence. And I encourage that a lot. And
- 15:53Speaker 5: I think her watching me develop and be bold on
- 15:58Speaker 5: the Internet, and I'm to y'a, this is I'm way
- 16:02Speaker 5: mobile on the internet that I am in person.
- 16:04Speaker 2: I'm very shy. People don't believe it.
- 16:05Speaker 5: I am very shy in person unless I get a
- 16:08Speaker 5: little courage. Not the courage, but I'm very shy in
- 16:18Speaker 5: person for real. I struggle a lot with social anxiety.
- 16:25Speaker 5: I'm getting through that though, thank God. But Kadence, she
- 16:31Speaker 5: has watched me step in so many different roles, so
- 16:36Speaker 5: she knows that she isn't limited. I already already know
- 16:39Speaker 5: that with her talents like she she she she'll be
- 16:43Speaker 5: known for more than just being Katie the daughter or
- 16:48Speaker 5: you know, Katie the friend. Like she already started her
- 16:51Speaker 5: own business, like she had phone cases and she was like, mam,
- 16:53Speaker 5: we got started to run that back up. This little
- 16:56Speaker 5: girl is a fashionista at this point, I don't touch
- 16:58Speaker 5: her clothes, like she telling me what she's buying. She
- 17:00Speaker 5: his own cash, so she buys stuff and stuff come packages,
- 17:03Speaker 5: comes to the.
- 17:03Speaker 2: House all the time.
- 17:06Speaker 5: I just found out she I mean, I knew she
- 17:07Speaker 5: can cook, but humbirl made some in the kitchen the
- 17:10Speaker 5: other day and it was really good. That was like,
- 17:13Speaker 5: so we cook now, like she just I think her
- 17:16Speaker 5: watching me be able to step in so many different
- 17:22Speaker 5: areas that she's not.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Afraid to do that. How do you balance like nurturing
- 17:27Speaker 2: someone like Katie with knowing because I grew up with you,
- 17:32Speaker 2: how we were nurtured and developed because there were I'm
- 17:36Speaker 2: trying to find a language for it.
- 17:38Speaker 5: There wasn't a lot of freedom in creativity or the
- 17:43Speaker 5: development piece or.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Which is crazy how we turned out.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Yeah, like it It is baffling. How do you manage that?
- 17:50Speaker 5: Like do you feel like sometimes you like struggle with
- 17:54Speaker 5: Oh I wasn't raised like this, but I know it's
- 17:57Speaker 5: like how do you navigate those at that?
- 18:00Speaker 2: As a mother?
- 18:01Speaker 5: I still I struggle. I like, I'm glad you brought
- 18:04Speaker 5: that up. It's times where her her confidence brings out
- 18:13Speaker 5: my insecurity.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Y'all.
- 18:17Speaker 5: I look, I ain't had no, I had no plan
- 18:21Speaker 5: on doing it, so please excuse me.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it is very safe.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Yeah, her confidence brings out my insecurity, so I find myself.
- 18:32Speaker 5: I don't do it as much, but especially when she
- 18:34Speaker 5: was younger, almost dimming her light. So it's like, you know,
- 18:41Speaker 5: I don't want you to get in trouble or I
- 18:43Speaker 5: want I don't want people to looking at you funny,
- 18:45Speaker 5: or I don't want people talking about you or talking
- 18:47Speaker 5: about me as a parent because you know you are
- 18:49Speaker 5: sassy and you did and you that because Cadus has
- 18:52Speaker 5: a lot of personality and we we bump heads sometimes
- 18:58Speaker 5: because of their personality. But I think it took I
- 19:01Speaker 5: think last year I realized that it was just like
- 19:04Speaker 5: I think it's an insecurity that I couldn't be like that,
- 19:07Speaker 5: or I felt like I couldn't be like that.
- 19:08Speaker 2: That makes me sometimes like.
- 19:12Speaker 5: Get on to her by stuff, and that's just her,
- 19:14Speaker 5: that's her personality. And I'm learning to communicate with her
- 19:20Speaker 5: because now she's a teen. She's preteen. It's not talking.
- 19:24Speaker 2: It's not like talking to her brother and sister like
- 19:26Speaker 2: baby da da da. She don't want to hit it.
- 19:28Speaker 2: So I gotta be real with her.
- 19:32Speaker 5: It's a lot of balancing of like I want, I
- 19:34Speaker 5: want to be her friend, you know, not just like
- 19:36Speaker 5: I'm not your little friend.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I want to be her little friend like I do.
- 19:39Speaker 5: But I also have to know I had her young,
- 19:42Speaker 5: and and because you were nineteen when the girl was
- 19:46Speaker 5: twenty one, I'm sorry, sorry, sorry.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Mom, I'm sorry teen moms. Shout out to y'all because
- 19:54Speaker 2: it's hard out here.
- 19:55Speaker 5: Yeah, but but yeah, I had her at twenty turn two,
- 20:00Speaker 5: only one two months later, was in college, and.
- 20:07Speaker 2: So I'm figuring stuff out. But one thing about it.
- 20:10Speaker 5: I always tell her, even when we have our ooh,
- 20:14Speaker 5: we have our blow ups, I have to tell myself
- 20:16Speaker 5: it's okay, and tell her that I'm still learning. I
- 20:21Speaker 5: tell her that all the time. You my first one,
- 20:23Speaker 5: I'm gonna miss up the most with you. How does
- 20:25Speaker 5: she receive that when you tell her that, I think
- 20:29Speaker 5: she's more forgiving because I am apologizing. And I'll say
- 20:34Speaker 5: this about the gen X generation and above baby Booma's parents,
- 20:42Speaker 5: apologies were not a thing. And you know, like I said,
- 20:45Speaker 5: we're now in a in a in a generation to
- 20:48Speaker 5: where we have so much information, so grace is given.
- 20:52Speaker 2: So don't come for me, but apologies were not think
- 20:57Speaker 2: as an adult.
- 20:58Speaker 5: I think I would have not been so hard on
- 21:03Speaker 5: myself if I knew that it's okay to miss up. Mmm,
- 21:11Speaker 5: it's okay, Like my daughter brought home or see on
- 21:14Speaker 5: her progress support she's a AB student.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I was like, all right, this is your grace. You're
- 21:19Speaker 2: gonna miss up.
- 21:21Speaker 5: I'm not gonna I'm not gonna tear you down on this,
- 21:24Speaker 5: but we're gonna fix this. So you can go on
- 21:26Speaker 5: there and talk to your science teacher and see how
- 21:28Speaker 5: you're gonna fix it. I'm not doing it. I don't
- 21:31Speaker 5: take these classes. So I still give her. I give
- 21:33Speaker 5: her a lot of freedom. I give her a lot
- 21:35Speaker 5: of resp I said responsibility because we're still in the
- 21:38Speaker 5: real world. Yeah you know what I mean, She's still
- 21:40Speaker 5: a little black girl in the real world. Yeah, so
- 21:42Speaker 5: I have to be real with her. But also I
- 21:45Speaker 5: give her the space to miss up every single day
- 21:49Speaker 5: until I miss up every single.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Day if whether it's little or be Yeah. So so yeah,
- 21:55Speaker 2: I know that was long.
- 21:56Speaker 5: Sorry, No, that was that was so good and so needed,
- 21:59Speaker 5: And I think that it's important because I I just
- 22:03Speaker 5: think watching you be a mother Jesus, watching you be
- 22:13Speaker 5: a mother. It's very rewarding.
- 22:21Speaker 6: You go, girl, Jesus cry, It's very rewarding because.
- 22:33Speaker 2: I know it.
- 22:35Speaker 5: It's nothing that I heard, it's nothing that I'm unaware of.
- 22:40Speaker 5: I know the things we didn't learn. It's nobody's fault.
- 22:45Speaker 2: And no, I ain't blaming nobody. And that's that's the
- 22:53Speaker 2: with country creation and doing podcasts and stuff. Don't get.
- 23:00Speaker 5: Content creation and doing podcasts. It's hard because you try
- 23:05Speaker 5: not to quote unquote exposed.
- 23:11Speaker 2: The people that you love.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Because people gave us the best that they could give
- 23:15Speaker 5: us at the time that they could give us. The
- 23:19Speaker 5: reality of the best that people could give us is
- 23:24Speaker 5: that we miss something in giving our best, and there
- 23:29Speaker 5: are certain things that were missed that you are embodying
- 23:35Speaker 5: so well. And it's like, if I can be half
- 23:41Speaker 5: the more that you are, like, I would be good.
- 23:45Speaker 5: Like I'm gonna be a great mom because it's the patience,
- 23:50Speaker 5: the patience that you have with three kids, the awareness.
- 23:57Speaker 5: I know you get tired, I really do. But for
- 24:02Speaker 5: you to be able to say I'm I want my
- 24:09Speaker 5: I don't want her courage to be dealed by my insecurities,
- 24:13Speaker 5: that's huge. I still deal with fears now.
- 24:18Speaker 2: I love you, Daddy.
- 24:19Speaker 5: I still deal with fears now, just off the fact
- 24:22Speaker 5: that Daddy was scared about something. I might not have
- 24:25Speaker 5: been afraid of it, but because I can hear Dad's voice.
- 24:29Speaker 2: On certain things, I'm scared to do it. You know
- 24:32Speaker 2: what I'm saying.
- 24:32Speaker 5: I'm quote unquote like struggling in my mind on like
- 24:37Speaker 5: certain levels of success and you know, maneuvering through certain things.
- 24:42Speaker 5: But Katie and Corey and Creed are gonna experience different things.
- 24:47Speaker 5: And I'm curious to know how did you come to
- 24:50Speaker 5: that conclusion of the your insecurence insecurities dimming her light.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Couch, y'all.
- 25:02Speaker 5: If I don't promoted, I might promote it to I
- 25:04Speaker 5: ain't gonna say too much. I feel I feel like
- 25:07Speaker 5: everybody's going through some type of trauma. Some people might
- 25:09Speaker 5: need more therapy than others, but it's help out here.
- 25:12Speaker 5: And that lady love her down has helped me realize,
- 25:21Speaker 5: first of all, my strength as a mother. And thank
- 25:24Speaker 5: you for affirming me, because sometimes I don't get that
- 25:29Speaker 5: affirmation of the moment and I need it. I need
- 25:31Speaker 5: it boost So thank you so much for affirming me
- 25:33Speaker 5: in that moment.
- 25:34Speaker 2: But thank you girl. I'm just I just because it's true.
- 25:43Speaker 2: It's it's true.
- 25:44Speaker 5: It's it's a different and I can guarantee you there's
- 25:47Speaker 5: gonna be people, your audience, your your clients that get
- 25:51Speaker 5: to see you like these are people that get to
- 25:54Speaker 5: see you walk through through life with navigating your sister.
- 25:58Speaker 5: Because can we can we open the door in transparency.
- 26:01Speaker 5: You're in a new season. You're not just the mom,
- 26:04Speaker 5: but you used to be a wife or the mom,
- 26:06Speaker 5: and now you are a single parent.
- 26:09Speaker 2: How are we navigating through that? Because this is this
- 26:12Speaker 2: is more fresh than anything.
- 26:15Speaker 5: And I know you didn't plan on it because I
- 26:17Speaker 5: know we come from divorced parents and that's something that
- 26:22Speaker 5: hurt us.
- 26:23Speaker 2: You know, that was challenging. Not having mom in the house.
- 26:26Speaker 5: That was challenging, you know, for dad to be the
- 26:29Speaker 5: one that was handling everything. It's challenging for everybody involved. However,
- 26:33Speaker 5: we're talking about us right now, Like I just want
- 26:36Speaker 5: to be very clear, I'm not gonna apologize for talking
- 26:38Speaker 5: about this, So handle yourselves accordingly. I mean, I mean
- 26:42Speaker 5: that in the most loving way possible. Right now, we're
- 26:44Speaker 5: talking about our point of view, and so from our
- 26:48Speaker 5: point of view, and then shifting to being the parent
- 26:53Speaker 5: in the situation. How are you navigating that space? So Daddy,
- 27:02Speaker 5: first of all, one thing I wanted to believe wholeheartedly
- 27:07Speaker 5: that he's always my family, always my family. I thought
- 27:13Speaker 5: about it like this, and it's I put it in
- 27:14Speaker 5: my mindset. When I got with him and we had
- 27:22Speaker 5: three children, we became family. You get mad at your children,
- 27:27Speaker 5: you get mad at your sister. Ain't some people I'm
- 27:30Speaker 5: talking about me. I get mad at my sister. Get
- 27:33Speaker 5: made my dad and mama? Whoever, I have not exiled
- 27:37Speaker 5: them out my life. How dare I excel a man
- 27:41Speaker 5: that I shared d n A with.
- 27:47Speaker 2: We gotta look.
- 27:51Speaker 5: Was we got tree, They got the same Mama and daddy.
- 27:58Speaker 5: We have three together. So I though it was it is.
- 28:03Speaker 5: I'm gonna say, well was. It is a struggle. Some
- 28:05Speaker 5: things I am struggling with, as far as separating the
- 28:12Speaker 5: wife from him and learning to be the mother of
- 28:17Speaker 5: his children, even though I was already. It's a different
- 28:20Speaker 5: space now.
- 28:24Speaker 2: I'm learning two keep him in.
- 28:32Speaker 5: The I want to keep him in the family, except
- 28:35Speaker 5: him in my family, because he's always my family.
- 28:38Speaker 2: I want my.
- 28:38Speaker 5: Children to know that mommy and Daddy might not be together.
- 28:41Speaker 5: But my me and Daddy love each other. You were
- 28:43Speaker 5: creating in love, and that's one thing I'll bring up.
- 28:47Speaker 5: I told me something, told me something to win, and
- 28:51Speaker 5: we were a family winding. She said, because our parents divorced.
- 28:57Speaker 5: I don't know if you have a memory because with
- 28:58Speaker 5: twenty women's apart. But that's that's that's a big difference. Yeah,
- 29:00Speaker 5: it's a big.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Jump in zero to five, for sure.
- 29:03Speaker 5: But I think when the divorce was finalized, I was
- 29:08Speaker 5: five or six. I don't ever remember Mama and Daddy
- 29:12Speaker 5: being together happy. My earliest memory is the memory of
- 29:15Speaker 5: them is arguing, and I remember, like I want to say,
- 29:20Speaker 5: that was one of my earliest memories. I don't remember
- 29:23Speaker 5: my ma and Daddy having a good time. So my
- 29:26Speaker 5: idea of marriage was this brokenness, right. And our aunt
- 29:33Speaker 5: likes to take a lot of pictures, so she would
- 29:35Speaker 5: have pictures of us on vacation and holidays and all
- 29:38Speaker 5: of that. And I remember she sat up me down
- 29:40Speaker 5: at that at that table and she said, this was
- 29:42Speaker 5: before my divorce. She said, you were creating in love.
- 29:48Speaker 5: I'm gonna remind you of it. She was like, look
- 29:50Speaker 5: at these pictures, Look at these pictures. And it was
- 29:51Speaker 5: a picture of me. I don't think you were in
- 29:55Speaker 5: a picture. It was me just in Mamma and daddy
- 29:58Speaker 5: and that picture when I say, you otherod that picture
- 30:01Speaker 5: and I just boohooed and cry because I was holding
- 30:03Speaker 5: both of their legs, like ooh, they were together. I
- 30:05Speaker 5: don't remember that. Yeah, but her reminded me that though
- 30:10Speaker 5: they're not together, you are loved. You were created in love.
- 30:14Speaker 5: Your parents loved you, They loved each other. This wasn't
- 30:18Speaker 5: the dysfunction. He ain't pick up nobody on the side
- 30:20Speaker 5: of the road.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Yeah, pregnant. You know what I mean.
- 30:24Speaker 5: That that right there gave me so much hope, so
- 30:28Speaker 5: much love, you know what I mean. So I want
- 30:30Speaker 5: my children to know that. You know, my oldest has
- 30:32Speaker 5: seen me and her dad transition like we. She's seen arguing.
- 30:36Speaker 5: She's seen this, but she knows that we love each other.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:41Speaker 5: My youngest two have seen little They hadn't even seen now,
- 30:44Speaker 5: the youngest who hadn't even seen me invant argue like
- 30:47Speaker 5: at all.
- 30:48Speaker 2: They have not seen us argue at all.
- 30:50Speaker 5: So it's interesting because they're confused because we get along somewhere.
- 30:55Speaker 5: But I keep reminding them, like mammy and daddy are
- 30:57Speaker 5: not together. Mami and daddy are not together, but they're like,
- 31:00Speaker 5: oh you look.
- 31:01Speaker 2: You know.
- 31:02Speaker 5: My middle baby's like, uh, you better hum.
- 31:06Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. You love love my mama,
- 31:07Speaker 2: you know she They gonna see that, you know what
- 31:10Speaker 2: I mean?
- 31:10Speaker 5: And I want them and even if we get in
- 31:12Speaker 5: future relationships, when we get in future relationships, I want
- 31:15Speaker 5: them to understand.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I'm a I'm a love them. Yeah.
- 31:18Speaker 5: You can't nothing you can do about it. He might
- 31:20Speaker 5: get on my last nerve, but he my family. Yeah,
- 31:23Speaker 5: it ain't nothing. That's my baby. Daddy ain't next. I
- 31:26Speaker 5: wouldn't do for him. So I am appreciative of the space.
- 31:34Speaker 2: I think.
- 31:35Speaker 5: You know, you either run towards the thing that you
- 31:38Speaker 5: went through or you run away from it. Yeah, and
- 31:40Speaker 5: I've been doing a lot of run away from my trauma.
- 31:43Speaker 5: Like I'm like, I don't want that for my family.
- 31:44Speaker 5: I don't want that for my my children. I don't
- 31:46Speaker 5: want that or whatever. And I'm letting them know, like
- 31:48Speaker 5: you are so loved. We you know, we that's what
- 31:51Speaker 5: we still have family dinals, We still you know, birthday parties,
- 31:54Speaker 5: we do it.
- 31:54Speaker 2: I ain't know she if you want to do something separate.
- 31:56Speaker 5: That's on you shopping, But these coins, I could say, yeah,
- 32:00Speaker 5: and we can go together, you know what I'm saying.
- 32:02Speaker 5: So I want to be like them other people, you know, Yeah,
- 32:08Speaker 5: having the whole family, they really do that.
- 32:15Speaker 2: I think that it can go.
- 32:18Speaker 5: It can go the way you wanted to go. Like
- 32:21Speaker 5: I thought divorce meant anger. I thought divorce meant separation
- 32:25Speaker 5: from the whole family. I thought divorce meant you had
- 32:28Speaker 5: to pick a side that part.
- 32:31Speaker 2: You know what divorce means to me? What does the
- 32:33Speaker 2: vorce mean to you? Now? It means peace? Talk about it.
- 32:39Speaker 2: It means peace. I don't have to lay at night.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Not ain't to be in wonder what you're doing, who
- 32:43Speaker 2: you're doing to week. I ain't gotta the moment.
- 32:47Speaker 5: I gotta worry about how you treating me and how
- 32:49Speaker 5: would I deserve it. I don't worry about me and
- 32:52Speaker 5: this season.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Yeah don't.
- 32:53Speaker 5: Yeah, love my kids down. Yeah, but this this is
- 32:56Speaker 5: the woman killed. You have to understand. I was when
- 33:00Speaker 5: he turned in twenty one, when I had my first child.
- 33:02Speaker 5: It was twenty two when I got married.
- 33:04Speaker 2: I was a baby. Yeah.
- 33:06Speaker 5: I've literally never been single from high school I dated,
- 33:10Speaker 5: and I was at seventeen when I vowed, and I said,
- 33:13Speaker 5: next man, I'm with it's gonna be, It's gonna be
- 33:16Speaker 5: my husband. I said that at seventeen. I marry him
- 33:18Speaker 5: at twenty two. Now, mind you, I'm not gonna say.
- 33:21Speaker 5: I'm not gonna add like you know what I'm saying.
- 33:22Speaker 5: All the times was bad, We had good times. That's
- 33:24Speaker 5: my best friends, my homeboy, definitely my homeboy. But as
- 33:29Speaker 5: far as was he ready to be a husband? Was
- 33:34Speaker 5: he prepared to be a husband? Did he know what
- 33:36Speaker 5: that looked like? Did he understand that role? Did he
- 33:40Speaker 5: understand what he was supposed to do as a provider,
- 33:43Speaker 5: as a as a confidante, as no and things I
- 33:49Speaker 5: did not understand until I got into it.
- 33:51Speaker 2: I thought. I was like you, Oh, we had a baby.
- 33:53Speaker 2: That's the hardest thing you could do, right, put a
- 33:55Speaker 2: ring on your fingersigned paperwork. All that. I thought that.
- 33:58Speaker 2: I thought it was gonna.
- 33:59Speaker 6: Be a break.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Please, It was not. It was not.
- 34:03Speaker 5: So you have to have in a marriage. You have
- 34:06Speaker 5: to have two kinter parts who are willing to fight
- 34:09Speaker 5: for each other.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Yeah, regardless of if you mad at him, they made
- 34:12Speaker 2: a mistake. All of that.
- 34:15Speaker 5: Your your marriage is your marriage, so what works for
- 34:17Speaker 5: you works for you. But it got to a point
- 34:20Speaker 5: where things weren't working for me, and it kept not
- 34:23Speaker 5: working for me, and I kept forgiving, and I kept crying,
- 34:26Speaker 5: and I kept pleading, and I kept praying, and God
- 34:28Speaker 5: kept showing me I'm trying to show you this. This
- 34:32Speaker 5: ain't your season. This all right, the Mayor season over
- 34:35Speaker 5: for you.
- 34:36Speaker 2: That was hard.
- 34:37Speaker 5: I felt like a failure. I felt like I wasn't enough.
- 34:40Speaker 5: I felt like, dang, I did exactly what I said
- 34:43Speaker 5: I wasn't gonna do. This is embarrassing. I thought I
- 34:46Speaker 5: was gonna fix that man. I was gonna come and
- 34:49Speaker 5: sprinkle my fear dust on him and fix them. No,
- 34:52Speaker 5: because you kimble, I'm kindled. So I'm thankful to God
- 34:58Speaker 5: that I'm over.
- 35:00Speaker 2: The hurdle.
- 35:01Speaker 5: I ain't gonna say over it. But the last last
- 35:06Speaker 5: year was extremely hard for me. Yeah, extremely hard transition
- 35:10Speaker 5: for me, not being able to staying ten told down
- 35:15Speaker 5: about my man, my.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Man, my man. He wasn't my man. I work, Yeah,
- 35:19Speaker 2: he want my man.
- 35:19Speaker 5: And then I went through a whole nother grieving process
- 35:22Speaker 5: when the divorce was final because I didn't think.
- 35:24Speaker 2: I didn't think it was gonna happen.
- 35:25Speaker 5: Honestly, when it first I was like, oh, yeah, we
- 35:27Speaker 5: gonna have I seen he's gonna get it together. It
- 35:29Speaker 5: didn't happen. It didn't happen. I had to be okay
- 35:32Speaker 5: with that, and so now it's I'm focused on loving me.
- 35:38Speaker 5: Loving me has been the most rewarding thing.
- 35:44Speaker 2: That has happened during this process. What does loving Kendall
- 35:48Speaker 2: look like? Choosing me?
- 35:51Speaker 5: I never chose myself. I'm what you call the people pleaed.
- 35:55Speaker 5: I wanted to be everybody else be pleased around me,
- 35:56Speaker 5: but I ain't been pleased. I didn't know how to
- 35:58Speaker 5: say no. I except the things, especially in my marriage,
- 36:01Speaker 5: that I would have never accepted before, just to keep
- 36:03Speaker 5: a man around, just to keep them, standing up for myself,
- 36:07Speaker 5: saying you deserve more, not settling because at the end
- 36:12Speaker 5: of the day, I know me right now I do.
- 36:18Speaker 5: But before it used to be like a question.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Mark Am I good? Am I nice?
- 36:24Speaker 6: Am I kind?
- 36:25Speaker 2: And people said be like, Okay, do you find yourself
- 36:29Speaker 2: defending that? Yeah? I do. I did for sure in
- 36:35Speaker 2: situations I definitely like I did this and I did that.
- 36:42Speaker 2: I don't have to prove myself. I know who I am.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Do you think that's what kept you in the marriage?
- 36:46Speaker 2: For sure?
- 36:48Speaker 5: For sure, I didn't feel like a good wife. I
- 36:50Speaker 5: didn't feel like a good mother. So it's more like
- 36:53Speaker 5: proving myself a lot, not even just to him as family,
- 36:58Speaker 5: that's a whole nother's whole another subject for another day.
- 37:02Speaker 5: But yeah that yeah, even just proven myself that I'm
- 37:05Speaker 5: this and I'm that, and you know, I already knew
- 37:08Speaker 5: I was those things. I don't know why I felt
- 37:10Speaker 5: the need to prove myself, but that that that comes
- 37:12Speaker 5: in security as a child that I didn't have. Yeah,
- 37:16Speaker 5: you know, so I say that in confidence, I'm building
- 37:22Speaker 5: the woman kindle. Yeah, I've never experienced a woman kindle.
- 37:26Speaker 5: Like what do I like? What do I want to
- 37:28Speaker 5: eat today?
- 37:29Speaker 2: Yeah? I like being by myself.
- 37:32Speaker 5: I want to watch this on TV like that part
- 37:34Speaker 5: right there, Oh my gosh, and just enjoying just me.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Like I said, that's why this food content is.
- 37:46Speaker 5: Severe rewarding, because like I'm getting to meet new people. Yeah,
- 37:49Speaker 5: I'm getting to be in new spaces and going to
- 37:51Speaker 5: new restaurants and trying things I probably wouldn't try before
- 37:54Speaker 5: or didn't like. Experience the things I wouldn't have probably
- 37:56Speaker 5: experienced as a wife, just being honest, Like, you know,
- 38:00Speaker 5: being single with kids is different. Yeah, sure, but I'm
- 38:04Speaker 5: just experiencing like a whole other side of Kendle. You know,
- 38:08Speaker 5: I still have my struggles. Yeah, it's almost like Kendle
- 38:11Speaker 5: tried it. Because Kendall's trying, Kendle, I am.
- 38:14Speaker 2: I'm trying myself every day, every single day. I'm trying.
- 38:18Speaker 5: I'm trying to be a better, better me to me
- 38:24Speaker 5: because Babe, I was so mean to myself. I used
- 38:27Speaker 5: to be so mean to myself. I was so harsh
- 38:29Speaker 5: on myself growing up, hearing you tall, you skinny, you,
- 38:34Speaker 5: You're not enough, You're not your hair, I ain't long enough,
- 38:40Speaker 5: your heir. You know you bay all headed, you ain't pretty,
- 38:42Speaker 5: got big ays, big nose, big look. I heard that
- 38:45Speaker 5: all my life. Heard it wasn't enough, you know. So
- 38:49Speaker 5: I struggled with confidence. I always heard Kendle like, people
- 38:54Speaker 5: like to be around Kendle or whatever.
- 38:55Speaker 2: So that's what the people pleasing King with.
- 38:57Speaker 5: It's like, Okay, y'all like to be around me, So
- 38:58Speaker 5: I'm gonna do this to make you want be around me.
- 39:00Speaker 5: I'm gonna do this to make you stay.
- 39:01Speaker 2: I'm gonna do this. I'm gonna be it. So I'm
- 39:03Speaker 2: gonna lay down with you. I'm gonna do it. Yeah.
- 39:06Speaker 5: But it's interesting that both of us have the have
- 39:10Speaker 5: an experience, you know, the struggle with people pleasing. But
- 39:13Speaker 5: you say you wanted you wanted to make sure that
- 39:17Speaker 5: people stay. I just wanted people to come like So
- 39:21Speaker 5: that's that's where my people pleasing came from. I just
- 39:24Speaker 5: I wanted people to like me, you know what I'm saying,
- 39:26Speaker 5: Because people just saw the residue of my experiences at
- 39:31Speaker 5: the home, like responsibility and you know, not having the
- 39:38Speaker 5: room to be validated like I probably needed to be validated,
- 39:43Speaker 5: not having the room to just be outside. All I
- 39:47Speaker 5: knew was the doer Jessica, you know what I'm saying.
- 39:50Speaker 5: So it was like, Okay, if I do this, maybe
- 39:52Speaker 5: that makes them like me. And in most cases it
- 39:55Speaker 5: still wasn't enough, you know. And so I think that's interesting.
- 39:59Speaker 5: And so with you being in a single space, I
- 40:01Speaker 5: love the fact that I don't Okay, let me maybe
- 40:06Speaker 5: let me preferent it. I don't love the fact that
- 40:08Speaker 5: you divorced. I'm not I'm not saying that what I am. Yeah,
- 40:15Speaker 5: but one thing I thought about that today, Kendle, is
- 40:18Speaker 5: that we've never been single at the same time we haven't.
- 40:22Speaker 2: We've never been single.
- 40:24Speaker 5: So can you talk about people always are they're curious
- 40:28Speaker 5: about our relationship and they was like, oh my gosh,
- 40:30Speaker 5: y'all sounded like y'all look like y'all like y'all have fun.
- 40:34Speaker 5: Can we talk about, you know, how we've had to
- 40:36Speaker 5: work to this point and what that looks like for
- 40:39Speaker 5: us now, Like what's your perspective on how we've developed
- 40:43Speaker 5: as not just sisters.
- 40:45Speaker 2: But friends, Like you're my friend. Like I almost said
- 40:49Speaker 2: something you said the other thing, But yeah, I remember
- 41:03Speaker 2: the tears you cried at my wedding. Buh. My sister
- 41:08Speaker 2: thought she was gonna lose me, And.
- 41:15Speaker 5: I remember being confused because even it's not just you
- 41:20Speaker 5: and my best friend Jasmine. We have gotten a lot
- 41:24Speaker 5: closer during this process too, even though look, you couldn't
- 41:26Speaker 5: even make us know what closer because that's my that's
- 41:29Speaker 5: my girl.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but I didn't realize.
- 41:36Speaker 5: The distance that it can naturally have because I would
- 41:41Speaker 5: try to if y'all knew, like my my ex husband
- 41:43Speaker 5: was the third wheel a lot.
- 41:45Speaker 2: He would be with the like what were going to
- 41:46Speaker 2: da da or whatever?
- 41:47Speaker 5: They be looking up like I remember once I me
- 41:49Speaker 5: and my friend went to the casino and.
- 41:52Speaker 2: He was there. She was just looking like why he here?
- 41:55Speaker 2: And I'm just like, I'm like, I'm trying to include
- 41:57Speaker 2: everybody in my life.
- 41:58Speaker 5: It's just different. Yeah, y'all didn't. I started at twenty two,
- 42:02Speaker 5: so y'all didn't get to get the youthful like we're grown,
- 42:04Speaker 5: we can go have drinks and da da da dah,
- 42:06Speaker 5: and I got to run back and be with my
- 42:07Speaker 5: husband Da da da da. So I think the transition
- 42:12Speaker 5: was easy because you walked it with me the entire time.
- 42:16Speaker 5: You were there at the wedding, You were there when
- 42:19Speaker 5: I was happy, you were there when I was building
- 42:20Speaker 5: a family, you was there when I was.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Building a career.
- 42:22Speaker 5: And you also walked me through the separation and divorced,
- 42:26Speaker 5: the fights, the all of that. So I think that's
- 42:28Speaker 5: what made the transition easier because you understood where I was.
- 42:32Speaker 5: And I think you understand the genuineness of the friendship,
- 42:38Speaker 5: the genuineness of our relationship, our sisterhood, because though.
- 42:46Speaker 2: We went through.
- 42:47Speaker 5: Different phases, me and him, me and you went through
- 42:52Speaker 5: different phases as well, and I think me honestly, I'm
- 42:57Speaker 5: not taking trying to take credit for for me allowing
- 43:00Speaker 5: you to be in this space because a lot of
- 43:02Speaker 5: people shut down.
- 43:05Speaker 2: And you saw me ugly. Yeah, it was hard seeing
- 43:12Speaker 2: you ugly.
- 43:14Speaker 3: It was I'm gonna have to buy it was hard
- 43:20Speaker 3: seeing you ugly and experiencing that because this is the
- 43:26Speaker 3: part about being.
- 43:30Speaker 2: In relationship with God.
- 43:32Speaker 5: That's the struggle for me, because when you say I
- 43:36Speaker 5: believe in God and I trust in God, that means
- 43:39Speaker 5: every part of my being has to be submissive or
- 43:43Speaker 5: submitted to what God wants me to do. And seeing
- 43:48Speaker 5: my seeing you hurt does something to my inside that
- 43:57Speaker 5: it's unexplainable. And so while people are thinking that I'm
- 44:03Speaker 5: calm or I have the right language, you'll tell I
- 44:07Speaker 5: hear you tell me that the West side of Birmingham
- 44:14Speaker 5: is being suppressed. I mean, I don't think I have
- 44:17Speaker 5: language for what I'm experiencing internally, and so I'm fighting
- 44:23Speaker 5: and I'm also hearing the Holy Spirit say wait. And
- 44:28Speaker 5: the time that we're talking about when things exploded. Rights
- 44:32Speaker 5: supposed we don't have to get into it, but things
- 44:34Speaker 5: exploded one day while I was, you know, in my bag,
- 44:39Speaker 5: I was in my opportunity.
- 44:41Speaker 2: And thank God for desil Ray because.
- 44:48Speaker 5: Because desil Ray was in the moment, she was, she
- 44:52Speaker 5: was there and she was contacted. So because we know
- 44:58Speaker 5: that I still have to to manage the suppressing of
- 45:02Speaker 5: the of where I come from and what's naturally embedded
- 45:06Speaker 5: in me. I thank God that she was level headed enough.
- 45:12Speaker 5: And then I'm listening to what's going on.
- 45:15Speaker 6: Let's go.
- 45:15Speaker 5: I don't ask what am I asking questions for? I
- 45:18Speaker 5: don't have not one question what's going on with my sister.
- 45:23Speaker 5: I need to find her. I need to get to her.
- 45:25Speaker 5: But releasing trusting God enough that he has you is
- 45:29Speaker 5: the is the hardest part because you whoa stop crying.
- 45:36Speaker 5: You have been the most consistent thing, the most consistent
- 45:41Speaker 5: person in my life, good, bad, ugly, And to have
- 45:47Speaker 5: something try to or adjusting my consistency like I take
- 45:56Speaker 5: it personally because I am you and you are me
- 45:59Speaker 5: like that, that's I don't know. I don't want you
- 46:03Speaker 5: not to be okay, I don't. I wish I could
- 46:05Speaker 5: put myself in the positions like I want to go
- 46:07Speaker 5: through this for you, And so.
- 46:09Speaker 2: The being being that I had to release control.
- 46:15Speaker 5: That's been my my biggest lesson in this new season
- 46:19Speaker 5: of our, our sisterhood, our friendship. And I feel like
- 46:22Speaker 5: not only when when I released control, I also allowed
- 46:29Speaker 5: you into the most inner courts of my being because
- 46:32Speaker 5: I was being a big sister. I thought being a
- 46:36Speaker 5: big sister was being being perfect, being the example being
- 46:42Speaker 5: not allowing you to see me miss up and in
- 46:45Speaker 5: the more I'm not.
- 46:46Speaker 2: I'm out of this season. Thank you, Lord Desiree. You
- 46:52Speaker 2: gotta you got a hoot in a hollow. Jesus, this
- 46:55Speaker 2: season was trash, but mam not saying season with trash,
- 47:00Speaker 2: it was very developmental de Jesus.
- 47:08Speaker 5: But allowing you to not only see me in that,
- 47:14Speaker 5: but really walk me through that. I feel like that
- 47:18Speaker 5: was my change because the way you it was about
- 47:23Speaker 5: a man, y'all, it was about a man. So it
- 47:27Speaker 5: was you know, you allowing me to be naked and
- 47:33Speaker 5: I say, hey, you got a damp on your booty.
- 47:35Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying. I know I got a
- 47:37Speaker 5: dimp on my booty. They don't need you to keep
- 47:39Speaker 5: pointing it out. You just like loved me through it.
- 47:42Speaker 5: And so I feel like we're in this. You're not
- 47:47Speaker 5: seeing me as a protector anymore. I'm not seeing you
- 47:50Speaker 5: as my little sister. It's like a woman to woman
- 47:53Speaker 5: things like I call you like hey, good, like what's up?
- 47:57Speaker 7: Good?
- 47:57Speaker 5: Like I know you my sister. That's I thank god.
- 48:01Speaker 5: I would not trade that.
- 48:02Speaker 2: For the world. But seeing you as a woman has
- 48:06Speaker 2: been the most rewarded. And I had to.
- 48:08Speaker 5: Remove myself outter, like remove myself and say, hey, we're
- 48:13Speaker 5: not in that era of you having to fix and
- 48:16Speaker 5: groom and do all the things. You're not in that
- 48:20Speaker 5: era no more. You can really be her sister. You
- 48:24Speaker 5: can be her friend, you can be her confidant, and
- 48:27Speaker 5: it still be okay.
- 48:28Speaker 2: She's not gonna look down upon you.
- 48:30Speaker 5: And I think that I was afraid of that. I
- 48:33Speaker 5: thought that you were gonna look down upon me for
- 48:37Speaker 5: not being perfect.
- 48:38Speaker 2: So here's the thing.
- 48:39Speaker 5: You said something, and I think I already I think
- 48:42Speaker 5: I knew it, but I didn't speak on it about
- 48:46Speaker 5: you wanting to be perfect, And I think that was
- 48:49Speaker 5: the disconnect, because I wanted to be in your business yeah,
- 48:53Speaker 5: and you'd be like yeah, like no, I want to
- 48:56Speaker 5: know what's going on. Like I feel like I would
- 48:59Speaker 5: see you more as a human. So it made me
- 49:00Speaker 5: be more judgmental of certain relationships you had because you
- 49:04Speaker 5: thought you're supposed to be perfect.
- 49:05Speaker 2: I'm like, look at them, look at him just going
- 49:07Speaker 2: through it like everybody else, you know what I mean.
- 49:09Speaker 5: So that's how I felt about when you allowed me
- 49:14Speaker 5: into a space, and it was just like surface level.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Yeah when it when that surface broke by b it
- 49:20Speaker 2: broke you. It was how it was very deep take
- 49:28Speaker 2: me through that, Okay.
- 49:30Speaker 5: So yeah, I appreciate you being vulnerable to allow me
- 49:37Speaker 5: in this space because I remember we was talking.
- 49:39Speaker 2: I was talking. We was at uh I think one
- 49:43Speaker 2: of I think this is the first time maybe we recorded.
- 49:45Speaker 5: Yeah, we went to the Mexican Respirats and you were
- 49:47Speaker 5: just talking so freely in front of the desert ray
- 49:49Speaker 5: and I was like, I ain't never heard that. And
- 49:53Speaker 5: I was like feeling some type of way and I
- 49:55Speaker 5: was just like, well, I was on it one day.
- 49:57Speaker 5: I don't be there, I guess.
- 49:58Speaker 3: You know.
- 49:58Speaker 5: But I she ain't knowing the woman just because not
- 50:03Speaker 5: big Sul. Yeah, Big Sul, Big sister don't play by me. Okay,
- 50:07Speaker 5: she will run up on you will. My sister does
- 50:10Speaker 5: not play. But you ever want to see that side
- 50:12Speaker 5: mess with her sisters. Okay, I'm telling you it's difficult.
- 50:16Speaker 5: It's I don't I don't even want to call it
- 50:18Speaker 5: mama bear. But the level of suppression I have to
- 50:21Speaker 5: go through because I really don't play about the people
- 50:23Speaker 5: I love, and I really love y'all.
- 50:26Speaker 2: On a whole different level.
- 50:27Speaker 5: We have another sister, Kirsten, and I think also with
- 50:31Speaker 5: her seeing my vulnerability and her seeing certain things, I
- 50:35Speaker 5: think that that broke.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Me as well.
- 50:39Speaker 5: Because Kirsten was never supposed to see me in the
- 50:41Speaker 5: way she saw me this past year. She was in
- 50:44Speaker 5: my mind right in my mind, she was never supposed
- 50:47Speaker 5: to see me in my most naked place. She was
- 50:49Speaker 5: never supposed to see me, miss up. I was supposed
- 50:51Speaker 5: to be her safe space. I'm supposed to spoil her.
- 50:53Speaker 5: I'm supposed to you know, I'm supposed to be her
- 50:56Speaker 5: the one she go to the ride or die. She's
- 51:00Speaker 5: was supposed to be mad at me, baby. This year,
- 51:02Speaker 5: the Courson seeing me naked, she'd have been mad at me.
- 51:04Speaker 5: She almost cut me off, like like baby, We've been
- 51:09Speaker 5: I've been through it with both of y'all.
- 51:11Speaker 2: But to be able to say, like no, my sisters
- 51:15Speaker 2: rock with me, Like, damn, no, they rock with me.
- 51:17Speaker 5: I can call them right now. It ain't it ain't nothing,
- 51:20Speaker 5: you know, and not because I'm y'all. Y'all really like me,
- 51:24Speaker 5: And I think that was the biggest thing for me
- 51:27Speaker 5: to comprehend, like will they like me outside of me
- 51:30Speaker 5: not being needed? Will they appreciate or value me beyond
- 51:39Speaker 5: justa what can you do for me?
- 51:41Speaker 2: I didn't. I didn't trust it. I see, I didn't
- 51:44Speaker 2: trust it. Also been.
- 51:49Speaker 5: People have crossed you in ways where and I can
- 51:52Speaker 5: get this. Yeah, I can get where you.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Feel like.
- 51:56Speaker 5: As soon as I open up somebody they crossed me
- 51:58Speaker 5: and that you know, so my sisters do it?
- 52:00Speaker 2: Dean with who am I have? Yeah? So I get that. Yeah,
- 52:03Speaker 2: I get that.
- 52:04Speaker 5: Well, I'm glad we're not there anymore. I'm really grateful
- 52:10Speaker 5: for you, kill and I'm very very proud of you.
- 52:12Speaker 5: Like you've been transparent about you know, like your divorce online,
- 52:18Speaker 5: you've been transparent about with your kids. You've been transparent
- 52:21Speaker 5: about Creed having autism. You've been transparent about so much
- 52:24Speaker 5: that you.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Would have never done, like two three years ago, you
- 52:29Speaker 2: would have never done that. And so the woman that you.
- 52:31Speaker 2: You're becoming. It's just so rewarding to see.
- 52:36Speaker 5: And I'm just looking forward to, you know, just developing
- 52:40Speaker 5: with you in this single season, us holding each other,
- 52:43Speaker 5: like we get to hold each other.
- 52:44Speaker 7: Accountable with us, you know, you be like, that's a ray.
- 52:58Speaker 2: What's up? Man?
- 52:59Speaker 5: This has been it's been beautiful. Like I love you know,
- 53:03Speaker 5: I'm in spaces. I love the spaces that the Lord
- 53:06Speaker 5: allows me to be in. Most of the times, I'm
- 53:09Speaker 5: quiet in those spaces because I just liked I like
- 53:11Speaker 5: to watch and observe. And I can say that these
- 53:14Speaker 5: last couple of years, watching you guys develop your relationship
- 53:18Speaker 5: has been really beautiful. And it's just because I think
- 53:22Speaker 5: you both have gotten to a point where you realize, like,
- 53:25Speaker 5: I'm not perfect and I can't do this thing on
- 53:27Speaker 5: my own, and it comes with a level of surrender.
- 53:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 53:30Speaker 5: What better place to be in than surrendering and falling
- 53:34Speaker 5: in the hands of the person that made you, which
- 53:36Speaker 5: is the Lord. Right, And so what I but I
- 53:39Speaker 5: just kept hearing as you guys are talking about man,
- 53:41Speaker 5: I actually like you as my friend. Yes, you guys
- 53:43Speaker 5: are sisters, but even if you think about our relationship
- 53:46Speaker 5: with the Lord, one of the most intimate places that
- 53:49Speaker 5: we can be with him is friend.
- 53:51Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 53:51Speaker 5: You know, that's a whole nother level of intimacy when
- 53:55Speaker 5: you can go from you know, being these different titles
- 53:58Speaker 5: for each other till you can be like a friend
- 54:01Speaker 5: like Lauren, like you, like a true friend. You really
- 54:03Speaker 5: allowed to see you naked, in vulnerable and things like that.
- 54:06Speaker 5: And so it's really been beautiful as you both have
- 54:10Speaker 5: begun to come into your womandom.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Yeah, to be able to you know, peel.
- 54:14Speaker 5: Back some of those some of those layers of you know,
- 54:17Speaker 5: hurt and trauma and things like that that you have
- 54:19Speaker 5: had to put this wall up, you know. But the
- 54:21Speaker 5: Lord has you in the space now where you can
- 54:23Speaker 5: walk in your soft lady era and be okay with
- 54:27Speaker 5: with who you are naturally designed to be. And I
- 54:29Speaker 5: heard Kendle you said that I'm surprised that to see
- 54:32Speaker 5: us where we are now creatively what the truth is
- 54:35Speaker 5: both of you, that's.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Who That's who you are.
- 54:37Speaker 5: You know, it is parents. I know our parents do
- 54:41Speaker 5: the best that that they can, you know, with what
- 54:43Speaker 5: they have, but we also have when we come into
- 54:46Speaker 5: a knowledge of a thing, we have a responsibility to
- 54:49Speaker 5: now be able to stowar it and cultivate what we
- 54:51Speaker 5: know has been put in there. And so it's really
- 54:53Speaker 5: beautiful that you recognize that. And you're doing that with
- 54:56Speaker 5: your kids too, and you have to do it differently
- 54:58Speaker 5: with each one of them because they're all different. And
- 55:00Speaker 5: so what you're doing is breaking generational curses. Both of you, guys,
- 55:04Speaker 5: are breaking generational curses from your bloodline in just different ways,
- 55:07Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying, And so that your children
- 55:09Speaker 5: and your children's children and your children's children don't have
- 55:12Speaker 5: to deal with these same things kids. So as your responsibility,
- 55:15Speaker 5: your responsibility to have to go through these processes of
- 55:20Speaker 5: breaking and trials and tribulations so that you know the
- 55:23Speaker 5: blood line is good, because the blood line is good, right,
- 55:25Speaker 5: And that's why it feels so hard, because you're breaking
- 55:29Speaker 5: literally something that's not traditional. And so even when we
- 55:33Speaker 5: consider like generational curses or generational blessings, something different is happening.
- 55:39Speaker 5: There's a shift that's happening. And when you understand the
- 55:43Speaker 5: shifts requires sacrifice. Child who want to do something different,
- 55:52Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying. We say that we want
- 55:53Speaker 5: to do something different, but the requirement of doing something
- 55:57Speaker 5: different it's first being submitted, it to be a sacrificial being,
- 56:03Speaker 5: like a living up.
- 56:05Speaker 2: How am I living and still being cut? That's crazy,
- 56:09Speaker 2: that's crazy.
- 56:11Speaker 5: You feel me like and so being able to do
- 56:14Speaker 5: it with you, kindle. When you were talking about how
- 56:17Speaker 5: we were talking about friends the scripture and I think
- 56:19Speaker 5: this is scription correct me if I'm wrong where it says,
- 56:22Speaker 5: you know, a friend steaks closer to you than the
- 56:24Speaker 5: brother and the fact that we're blood and we found
- 56:26Speaker 5: the friend line. Yeah, oh we're dangerous and we talk
- 56:29Speaker 5: about it all the time. Yeah, folks ain't got it.
- 56:32Speaker 2: No, people real deal hate their siblings out here. And
- 56:36Speaker 2: it's said, and like I said, not that we don't
- 56:38Speaker 2: go through it. No, we go through it. We get
- 56:40Speaker 2: through it. You better come like that.
- 56:43Speaker 8: You like youacher And we had a little on that.
- 56:58Speaker 2: Clori girl, I have thoroughly enjoyed you.
- 57:01Speaker 5: But you already know what time it is. It's time, y'all.
- 57:12Speaker 2: She's still she's still killed. Though, if you want to
- 57:14Speaker 2: think about it with me.
- 57:16Speaker 5: What time is it is time for you to leave
- 57:20Speaker 5: your your closing remarks so as a traditional, just as
- 57:23Speaker 5: the podcast, if they didn't hear anything that we said today,
- 57:28Speaker 5: what would you like to leave the people, whether you
- 57:31Speaker 5: came only with your heart or or not, how would
- 57:35Speaker 5: you like to close us out?
- 57:39Speaker 2: Ah?
- 57:39Speaker 5: Okay, I want to say, specifically to that woman who
- 57:46Speaker 5: you think that you're not seeing.
- 57:52Speaker 2: You're always doing.
- 57:53Speaker 5: You're doing for your kids, you're doing for whoever you.
- 57:58Speaker 2: Work for, work with. Stop and look at yourself in
- 58:03Speaker 2: the mirror. Stop right now. I know, I know you
- 58:05Speaker 2: watch it on your phone.
- 58:07Speaker 5: Stop and look at yourself in the mirror and tell
- 58:10Speaker 5: yourself you're enough. Tell yourself that you're bigger than your problem.
- 58:18Speaker 5: Tell yourself that you're beautiful, Tell yourself that you're worthy.
- 58:23Speaker 5: Tell yourself that can't no man, frog, dog hog, tell
- 58:28Speaker 5: you that you ain't where you supposed to be. Okay,
- 58:31Speaker 5: I have to tell myself that every day I look
- 58:32Speaker 5: in the mirror and I say, hey, Ken Doe, you
- 58:35Speaker 5: are so beautiful. Sounds very very vain, but no, I
- 58:39Speaker 5: mean it on the inside and the outside, because the
- 58:42Speaker 5: world will break us down until we can't breathe, until
- 58:48Speaker 5: we cannot breathe.
- 58:49Speaker 2: But I want you to feel it, like.
- 58:51Speaker 5: When I tell you to tell yourself that don't no
- 58:54Speaker 5: matter what what's going on between your kids, your ex husband, husband, husband,
- 58:59Speaker 5: look like I'm telling you because I know right it's
- 59:03Speaker 5: gonna be okay.
- 59:05Speaker 2: You're beautiful, you're loved, and you're a woman. You that girl.
- 59:09Speaker 5: I'm sorry I had to say it to the ladies.
- 59:11Speaker 5: I ain't here for the men. I'm here for the
- 59:12Speaker 5: lady today.
- 59:13Speaker 2: Right, girl. I love you. I love you too. Sisters,
- 59:19Speaker 2: your sisters. We stay together.
- 59:22Speaker 5: Yeah, we make up one big family, but we don't
- 59:26Speaker 5: look the same as we do different y'all, different.
