- 2:45weekend here in Long Island, New York, NY City.
- 2:49It would. And now I don't know what you
- 2:51call it. What is this like a northeastern
- 2:52or something? It was windy, it was a storm, it
- 2:56was rainy. It was disgusting out today and
- 2:59I had to drive in it, but nevertheless, All in all, I like
- 3:03this weather. We're in the 60s probably if we
- 3:06got down to the 50s and the 40s, I think that would be my
- 3:10favorite time of year weather. I I don't like it under 40
- 3:14because once you hit those 30s it gets icy and dangerous and I
- 3:19don't like driving in danger even though I usually do speedy.
- 3:22What's up, man? And enjoying this a little bit
- 3:25of the fall weather. Shout out to my dog.
- 3:27Dealing with a lot actually. I had to have a surgery.
- 3:29Recently I got 6 teeth, 6 teeth. Pulled.
- 3:31Yeah, he's. Still in a little bit of a after
- 3:33surgery. Yeah, it's a it's a process.
- 3:35He's still in a little bit of a daze.
- 3:36They put him under anesthesia for a while.
- 3:38He's not really like, if you watch him like walk around
- 3:41outside like he does, he's like what?
- 3:43He's like dozing off. He wants to crash and
- 3:46everything. It's like it's been tough, but
- 3:48overall it's been a struggle for my uncle more than this for me.
- 3:51I would love to try whatever they give the dogs to put them,
- 3:54like put them down or put them to sleep so they can do all
- 3:57those surgeries. That's what I would like to try,
- 4:00a little dose of that. Well, I'm going to need a big
- 4:02dose because I'm a big dog, if you know what I mean.
- 4:05But nevertheless, I'm happy that your dog is feeling better.
- 4:09It was a crazy, crazy weekend for me.
- 4:11I, I don't understand it. I was supposed to go to this
- 4:13like food festival and it was cancelled because of the
- 4:16weather. And then they were supposed to
- 4:19have it open today and Brittany couldn't go anyways today even
- 4:22if it was open but the weather. So they cancelled it and they're
- 4:25not returning the money. So it was like $65 to get AVIP
- 4:30section at the festival and Brittany lost $120.00.
- 4:35Not only that, she lost $700.00 because she was supposed to go
- 4:40to Central Park for that concert with Shakira and Cardi B.
- 4:44The weekend was supposed to be there.
- 4:46She did not want to see Cardi B so she decided not to go.
- 4:49She spent $350.00 a ticket for me and her and she lost $700.00.
- 4:55So and, and then we just got back from Florida.
- 4:58So I, I don't know, it's been a crazy one, but you know, with,
- 5:01with sports and yesterday I got a chance to hang out because it
- 5:04was rainy at Millers Alehouse. I watched practically every game
- 5:09all the way towards 7:00 where I left Miller's Ale House.
- 5:13I started from 12:00 to 7:00 at Miller's Ale House.
- 5:17It was fun. Deer Park Ave.
- 5:19If if you've never been there, the food's great.
- 5:21I'll give him a shout out over there over on this show.
- 5:24Miller's Ale House. Love it.
- 5:25It's one of my favorite places, one of my favorite sports bars
- 5:28to go to. It is sensational.
- 5:30It's been you've been there we. Hang out, I think, I think I've
- 5:32been to that one. I remember that one.
- 5:34I'm. Talking about Miller's Ale
- 5:35House, you like the food? Yes, of course.
- 5:36What is your favorite food over there?
- 5:38Prime Burger The Prime Burger? What do you have on your Prime
- 5:41burger? So it's a, it's a, it's
- 5:42mushrooms. There's, there's like those
- 5:44fried onion thingies, there's melted cheese on it.
- 5:47There's. Fried onion thingies, that's
- 5:50what he says. You hear that, Tommy?
- 5:52Fried onion You. Mean like fried onion rings.
- 5:55Not not rings, they're. They're, well, they're in the
- 5:58shape. They're like, they're like BBQ
- 6:00onions, but they're they're fried a little bit, they're
- 6:02smaller. They're onion rings, straws.
- 6:04They're just thin onion rings. That's what they are.
- 6:06They're like straw rings. That's what they call them.
- 6:09That's what they call them, speedy, I mean.
- 6:11Like onion straws or something. Yeah, that's what they're
- 6:13called. I mean, I understand.
- 6:15And by the way, if you've never had the the prime rib burger
- 6:19over there at Millersdale House, well, you are missing a treat
- 6:23because it's actually if you like prime rib, you'll love the
- 6:25prime burger over there. I also like the cube bacon
- 6:28burger. It's really, really good over
- 6:29there that. Was going to be my next one.
- 6:31That's a that's a really good burger.
- 6:32It is. It really is.
- 6:33But you got to put a little bit of honey mustard on it, you
- 6:35know, I know everybody's going to make jokes.
- 6:37You and the honey mustard. Thing I'm just saying you're
- 6:39glad Goody and Jabba is not here.
- 6:41They would have they. Would have been all.
- 6:42Not yet. I am a honey mustard fan.
- 6:44I don't know what it is with with.
- 6:45With on the burger dude, yeah. Absolutely.
- 6:48I don't know about on a burger. I'll try it.
- 6:50I'm telling you, go try the honey mustard on the Cube bacon
- 6:54burger. It's delicious.
- 6:56It is absolutely delicious. So cube bacon burger?
- 6:59You mean it's got like roast pork on it?
- 7:01No, it's a regular burger. It's got all the different
- 7:05things. Tomato.
- 7:06Lettuce. It's got some.
- 7:08Cuban like a Cuban sandwiches. Roast.
- 7:10No. Was it Cuban?
- 7:11It's a cube. Bacon Cuban.
- 7:12It's like AQ. It's literally spelled CUE bacon
- 7:15burger. It's a cute bacon burger BBQ.
- 7:17It does? Yeah, BBQ.
- 7:19What it is, Yeah, I mix you mix a little honey mustard with BBQ.
- 7:21It's got a nice taste to. It has a little BBQ sauce on it.
- 7:24Yeah, it's a nice taste to it. What are you shaking your head
- 7:26for not? Honey mustard.
- 7:27Man, it's delicious. How could you not like honey
- 7:30mustard? How could you put honey mustard
- 7:33on a burger? What do you mean how could I put
- 7:34honey mustard? On that's a.
- 7:35That's a. That's a weird.
- 7:36Ladies and gentlemen, if you don't like honey mustard, raise
- 7:40your hand. I I'm raising my hand.
- 7:42I love it. I like chicken fingers.
- 7:45I like honey mustard. Well hold on, hold on one
- 7:47second. So that's all you would eat
- 7:48honey mustard with is chicken fingers.
- 7:51I think that's it. Me too.
- 7:52Honestly, I don't know. I don't know.
- 7:53I don't know anything. Else I don't.
- 7:55Maybe onion rings. Maybe onion rings if they're
- 7:58like a spicy onion. Ring so you don't use honey
- 8:00mustard on fries. Absolutely not.
- 8:03No way actually. That, that's pretty good.
- 8:05I've tried like if it's delicious.
- 8:06Get away, get away from me with this mustard on fruit.
- 8:09No, no, it's not mustard. I hate mustard.
- 8:11I like honey mustard. There's chicken tenders and
- 8:13fries. It's different fries and dip it
- 8:15in the honey. Mustard, it's different.
- 8:17I don't know where you where you guys think that honey mustard is
- 8:20so damn bad. It is delicious.
- 8:23It's got that nice sweet taste. It melts in your mouth and
- 8:27hopefully not in Speedy's pants, if you know what I mean.
- 8:29It does. It melts in your mouth.
- 8:32It does. It's.
- 8:32Yeah, it's just like M&M's. That's exactly.
- 8:35Absolutely, I'd rather have honey mustard than M&M's.
- 8:38I would. I love honey mustard, it's
- 8:41delicious. It depends also with what honey
- 8:43mustard it is. If it tastes too much like
- 8:46mustard, I can't stand the taste.
- 8:48It's got to be sweet. So you basically just want honey
- 8:51with a little bit of mustard. It's got to be sweet.
- 8:54It's got to have to have a sweet taste to it.
- 8:56It's a little tangy taste to it. What's?
- 8:59Related question, you go to get breakfast?
- 9:01Yeah. Do you just douse everything in
- 9:03Maple syrup? No, I'm not a big Maple syrup
- 9:07fan. But that's like sweet, you know,
- 9:09I would think if you like honey mustard, you would be all in on
- 9:12the Maple. Syrup.
- 9:13No, I actually with my waffles, if I'm having waffles, I want to
- 9:16butter them down. I, I like to, I like to put a
- 9:18lot of butter on my pancakes and my waffles.
- 9:21And then I, I, I'm not going to say I don't put enough syrup on
- 9:26my waffles or pancakes, but I, I don't like completely drain it
- 9:30or what do they call it? Drench it.
- 9:33That's that's the word. Drench it with syrup.
- 9:35I, I don't, I definitely don't do that.
- 9:37So. What about a bacon, egg and
- 9:38cheese? Would you put honey mustard or
- 9:40ketchup on that? Bacon, egg and cheese.
- 9:42Ketchup. Absolutely.
- 9:44I would never put honey mustard on an egg sandwich.
- 9:47Thank you, you just made me almost like gag.
- 9:49I wouldn't do that. I, I that's one thing I won't
- 9:51do. That's one thing I won't do.
- 9:54That's I would never put that on my egg sandwich.
- 9:56I like honey mustard too. I I don't know about as much as
- 9:58you, but I mean I would never put honey mustard on my bacon.
- 10:01No, nobody would do that. That would be really disgusting
- 10:05and it would probably make everybody throw up.
- 10:06I would make me throw up. And I like honey mustard.
- 10:09I mean, I like my eggs too. If I'm pouring any honey mustard
- 10:13on my eggs, I'm probably going to throw up.
- 10:15So yeah, I don't want to go into the my food tasting
- 10:20possibilities in my future, all right, because that could be a
- 10:23great job for me. Could you imagine me walking to
- 10:25a restaurant and be a food taster and they don't even know
- 10:28who I am? And I walk right through the
- 10:29door and I'm like, could I have a, could I have a seat?
- 10:32And you see me walk right in and I'm like, I'll try this and I'll
- 10:35try that and I'll try this. Make sure you give me some of
- 10:38that honey mustard too. Those.
- 10:40Like the young people? You you make your own food show,
- 10:43it gets cancelled on you, you start your own and that's how
- 10:46you get at your. Events, there is not one show if
- 10:48I'm a part of is ever going to get cancelled.
- 10:50And even if it was with food, I'm going to make it be funny
- 10:54and stupid at the same time. I, I, it, it has to be funny.
- 10:58You can't go into a restaurant when somebody has a camera on
- 11:01you and not act like a Jackass. Honestly, you have to, you have
- 11:07to show some personality. If there's some cameras pointing
- 11:10right at you and you're eating a beef sandwich or whatever the
- 11:13hell it is, you know what I like?
- 11:14Have you ever had those? Like I they're like these steak
- 11:18flats. They're steak flats and they put
- 11:21steak on a piece of like bread, but they call them flats and
- 11:25they put like some kind of. Flat bread.
- 11:26No, it's not flatbread, it's flats.
- 11:29They call them flats, steak flats, and they put this like, I
- 11:35don't know what it is. It's like some kind of like some
- 11:38kind of like I, I don't know what it is.
- 11:40It's some kind of cheese or something on it under, under.
- 11:43It actually tastes really, really good.
- 11:47And I and I can't remember what it is, but it is delicious.
- 11:50I every time I have, I go to a party lessons.
- 11:53If anybody has never been to a catering hall out here in New
- 11:56York, it's owned by practically every, every catering hall is
- 12:00owned by lessons and it it's a company owned, family owned.
- 12:06And they make some good food. And when they give you cocktail,
- 12:09cocktail hour, when they're walking around with all
- 12:12different things, they're giving you sausages and all this other
- 12:15stuff. They they bring these like these
- 12:18steak flats out and they're so I'm like stealing them.
- 12:21She brings all, she brings out the whole tray.
- 12:23How many you want? So I think.
- 12:25You described it very poorly. You just said it was like steak
- 12:28and there was cheese. Yeah, that and like you know.
- 12:30Something else is on it. Like flattened steak?
- 12:32Is it like hors d'oeuvre they beat it flat or?
- 12:34Something it is an hors d'oeuvre they they consider an hors
- 12:37d'oeuvre. Is it like a steak roll up like
- 12:39a flat? Steak.
- 12:40No, it's a it's a piece of bread.
- 12:42It's got a little flat steak on it, and then it's got like this
- 12:45cheese and something else under the cheese and it's melted on
- 12:49it. It's really delicious and they
- 12:51toast it. The bread is like a flat toast.
- 12:54It really is delicious. I got to give Lessons a little
- 12:57bit of credit. You know, I don't want to scare
- 12:58anybody away, but if you like your food, go to Lessons.
- 13:01New York catering halls, you name it, the Condra Hall, go
- 13:05over there, Black, Bethpage Black, that's owned by Lessons.
- 13:08Go test out the food. The New York Jets went to London
- 13:12in search of their first win in 2025 and came up empty again,
- 13:18falling to the Broncos 13 to 11 in a defensive struggle.
- 13:24The Broncos sacked Justin Fields 9 times and are are on pace for
- 13:29the NFL record of 85 sacks in a season.
- 13:32The Jets are tied with the Titans for the most sacks
- 13:36allowed this season. Dustin Fields had only 45
- 13:39passing yards in the game -10 net passing yards with the yards
- 13:45lost in sacks -10 in the lowest totals in the game since 1998.
- 13:51The Jets played calling. Play Calling had color analyst
- 13:57Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner telling live audiences.
- 14:02I'm not sure what. I just watched as The Jets
- 14:06completed and blew a drive at the end of the first half.
- 14:10The aired to add injury on top of insult.
- 14:14SN wise Connor Hughes reports that Garrett Wilson suffered a
- 14:18knee injury during the fourth quarter, but apparently avoided
- 14:21a major injury after the MRI was done.
- 14:24After the game, Wilson is still expected to miss some time.
- 14:28When asked if Aaron Gladd would consider a quarterback change
- 14:32after fields of struggles, he responded to reporters.
- 14:35What kind of question is that today after receiving heat for
- 14:40this exchange and said that Fields needs to play better but
- 14:45appears to be staying at with the struggling quarterback for
- 14:49now. I'm not going to blame Justin
- 14:51Fields for this debacle of a game.
- 14:54You travel all the way from New York to London.
- 14:57That's that's a long, long travel.
- 15:00The Broncos really, I thought would be at this point, 5 and
- 15:04one at worst. The Broncos have not had a good
- 15:07season. They have not.
- 15:08Their defenses looked really, really good.
- 15:10Their offense has been a shell of what they were last year,
- 15:13maybe because of lack of offensive weapons.
- 15:16They added Mr. Pot hands himself in the offseason.
- 15:20He made a couple of grabs. Courtland Sutton is a
- 15:22sensational wide receiver, but they don't have any secondary
- 15:26wide receivers on this team. And it's not going to be
- 15:28Franklin. I know everybody wants to
- 15:30believe that Franklin is a decent wide receiver.
- 15:32He's not a #2 The Jets all season long has looked like a
- 15:37peewee football team. You want to blame Aaron Glenn,
- 15:40so be it. The coach is going to get a lot
- 15:42of the heat. It usually happens that way.
- 15:45The quarterback is usually going to get the second most of the
- 15:49heat when the team isn't playing well, especially the offensive
- 15:52side of the ball. Justin Fields did not look good
- 15:55if you look at his numbers and his struggles. 9 completed
- 15:58passes out of 1745 passing yards.
- 16:02Sacked 9 times. His quarterback rating was 58.7.
- 16:08Here's the problem right now for the New York Jets, and I don't
- 16:10care what anybody says, the problem with The Jets is they
- 16:13can't run the ball. They cannot run the ball.
- 16:15Breece Hall had 22 attempts to rush the ball only 59 yards.
- 16:20He was averaging 2.7 a rush in the NFL.
- 16:25If you're rushing less than 3.5 a rush, it's bad bad.
- 16:30And when Justin Fields is your #2 rusher, there's a problem
- 16:34there. And he had 7 carries for 31
- 16:36yards. He averaged more yards per carry
- 16:40than their star running back and Breece Hall.
- 16:43Breece Hall is up for a contract at the end of the season.
- 16:45He has not look good. He's been up and down.
- 16:48He had one really unbelievable game against the Pittsburgh
- 16:52Steelers, and then it's been up and down really for the last six
- 16:55games, Five games, because it's Week 6.
- 16:59They have nobody besides Garrett Wilson when it comes to their
- 17:03playmakers. Taylor's going to be a playmaker
- 17:06in the future. He's still young.
- 17:07Tight ends take three years to develop.
- 17:10I don't expect Taylor to really pick up this offense as quick
- 17:14being that it comes from LSU and and it comes from a college.
- 17:17Tight ends take a little bit longer because you're going to
- 17:19have to do a lot of different things.
- 17:21You're going to have to block, you're going to have to catch,
- 17:23you're going to have to run routes in an NFL style game.
- 17:26It's not that easy for a tight end.
- 17:29The Jets are not a good team. They're not.
- 17:31I'm not going to beat around the Bush.
- 17:33I'm not giant fans out there thinking, well, we beat the
- 17:36Eagles and we got Scataboo and we got dart.
- 17:40We're we look like we're going to be a Super Bowl contender in
- 17:42two or three years. And I'm not taking shots at the
- 17:44Giants. I'm just speaking facts here.
- 17:47Both teams are not good. They're not.
- 17:49And The Jets, to me, with the roster that they have, have more
- 17:53talent than the Giants, but the talent that they have on their
- 17:56roster are not being used in the right, proper way.
- 18:00So everybody's going to say it's Aaron Glenn's fault, it's Steve
- 18:03Wilkes's fault. Aaron Glenn hired Steve Wilkes
- 18:07everywhere. Steve Wilkes is gone as a
- 18:09defensive coordinator, even as a head coach.
- 18:11He was fired in one year by the Arizona Cardinals.
- 18:14Why? Why?
- 18:15How many coaches in the NFL get fired in just one year?
- 18:19There were stories coming out, many, many teams have said that
- 18:23Steve Wilkes has worked for and coaches that have worked besides
- 18:27Steve Wilkes have said Steve Wilkes is not a people's person.
- 18:31He doesn't get over, he doesn't get along with a lot of his
- 18:33players. He has his own way of doing
- 18:35things. So my question to Aaron Glenn is
- 18:38if you know this and I understand you're friends with
- 18:41Steve, why did you choose Steve Wilkes to be your defensive
- 18:45coordinator? I love Aaron Glenn.
- 18:47I think Aaron Glenn is the coach of the New York Jets and their
- 18:50future. I, I think he's sensational.
- 18:52I think he has all the ability and the greatness to be a great
- 18:56Jets head coach in the future. I like the fact that Bill, he's
- 19:00a Bill Parcells disciple. We've heard many people say
- 19:04that, including Campbell saying that they believe he believes
- 19:08that this guy is going to be a sensational head coach in the
- 19:11NFL. Might take him a little while.
- 19:13The fact is there is nothing that tells me right now that
- 19:16this team can't compete. If you look at every single game
- 19:20this year besides the Buffalo Bills game, The Jets have been
- 19:23in every single game. They should have beaten
- 19:26Pittsburgh. They should have.
- 19:28Mistakes happen at in the fourth quarter with 5 minutes left of
- 19:31the game, The Jets had an 8 point lead.
- 19:33At one point in the fourth quarter, they choked.
- 19:36You look at all these games last night.
- 19:39Yesterday they had the ball with less than a minute left.
- 19:42Justin Fields was on the 50. All he had to do was run.
- 19:47Instead he ran backwards. They made him, they made a
- 19:50couple of play mistakes at the line of scrimmage.
- 19:52The offensive line, and I'm going to say this, The Jets
- 19:55strength right now is their offensive line.
- 19:58But the last two weeks they have not looked good and again,
- 20:01there's seems that need to be cleaned up.
- 20:04That doesn't mean The Jets are going to go oh, and 17 this
- 20:07year. I don't believe they will.
- 20:09I think The Jets will find a way to win at least one or two
- 20:12games. Do I think The Jets are the
- 20:14worst team right now in the NFL, even though they are the only
- 20:18team right now in the NFL? Not with a win, no.
- 20:20I think they're better than the Browns.
- 20:22I think they're better than the Titans.
- 20:24I think they're better than a lot of these teams that have one
- 20:26to two wins. Just bad luck.
- 20:29And in certain parts of the game, The Jets can't close.
- 20:34They can't and they don't have a quarterback that can do the
- 20:37things that you want, not just A1 dimensional, a guy that can
- 20:42run and throw the be a mobile quarterback and throw in the
- 20:45pocket. Justin Fields has proven as a
- 20:48professional NFL player that he is not a guy that can step into
- 20:53the pocket and make every single throw.
- 20:54He has not developed that part of his game.
- 20:57And because he hasn't developed that part of his game, he's
- 21:00become a one-dimensional type of quarterback.
- 21:02Every single team knows what he is going to do when he steps
- 21:06back and he can't throw in the flats.
- 21:09He's going to run. The only person, the only player
- 21:11he's throwing to is Karen Wilson.
- 21:13And, and that has something to do with the GM.
- 21:17And I think Moogie, he's new. This is his first year he came
- 21:21in with Aaron Glenn. Did I like that they decided to
- 21:25bring in Aaron Glenn before Moogie?
- 21:27Moogie, I I thought in my eyes, you usually bring in the GM
- 21:32first, right? That's what you usually do.
- 21:34Didn't The Jets bring in Aaron Glenn 1st and then they brought
- 21:38in the GM? Think Moogie was the last GM
- 21:40that was hired. Right.
- 21:42That's the problem with the New York Jets.
- 21:45They do everything lopsided. When you look at Mooji, and I
- 21:47might, I'm not taking shots at Mooji.
- 21:49I think Mooji might be a good GM.
- 21:51I love what he did with the Broncos.
- 21:53He was with the Broncos for what, 12-13 years?
- 21:55He was a part of the Super Bowl champion Broncos.
- 21:58He was part of some of the drafts, the draft picks that
- 22:01they made over the years, the Broncos success.
- 22:05Pretty much. He didn't.
- 22:06And Mooji was the one that didn't want Russell Wilson, if
- 22:09you've heard the stories. The problem right now with the
- 22:11New York Jets has a lot to do with the lack of talent
- 22:15playmakers on this roster. They can't run the ball.
- 22:18The coaching has been lopsided. The offensive coordinator, now
- 22:22The Jets are going to say he's a rookie offensive coordinator.
- 22:25And The Jets fans are going to say, well maybe they made the
- 22:28wrong decision bringing in a rookie offensive coordinator.
- 22:30We won't know what this kid is until the 3rd year and The Jets
- 22:35are still a team that needs to figure out who they are, what
- 22:38their identity is, and it's not going to be this year.
- 22:41My opinion here here is, is if The Jets want the fans to follow
- 22:47in their lead with this team in this roster and and their future
- 22:51with Aaron Glenn, they're going to have to win against teams
- 22:55they should beat. Miami is coming up again in the
- 22:58next couple of weeks. They got to beat Miami.
- 23:00They got to beat Miami. Their lost against Miami a
- 23:02couple of weeks ago. They have to beat Miami.
- 23:05They're going to have to beat the Patriots One of the times
- 23:08they play them. They haven't played them yet,
- 23:10but when they do, they're going to have to beat the Patriots.
- 23:13If The Jets can pull off two wins and stay close in every
- 23:17single game, then the fans have something to look forward to
- 23:20next year. If you look at this, The Jets
- 23:22with the Robert Sala era, you know the Robert Sala era, the
- 23:25Bambi, the Sala era, The Jets would either win a very close
- 23:30game because they play prevent defense and give the game away
- 23:33practically when they have a 10 point lead with three minutes
- 23:37left. Or what The Jets have always
- 23:39been known to do is they just completely get killed by the
- 23:43beginning of the game. You already know the game is
- 23:46over because they're down by 17 in the first quarter.
- 23:50That was the Robert Sala era. That is not the Aaron Glenn era.
- 23:54It hasn't been yet. So fans, take a step back,
- 23:58breathe a little bit. I have been a Jet fan my whole
- 24:00life. I have seen some bad, bad
- 24:05coaches bad. Rex Ryan might be the best one.
- 24:09There's one right now with Baker Mayfield that was not successful
- 24:13here. He had one good season with The
- 24:15Jets his first year and Todd Bowles, now look at him.
- 24:18Baker Mayfield looks like he's an MVP candidate and he looks
- 24:21like he could be up for coach of the year.
- 24:23That's how quick it could turn. You have to take a step back and
- 24:25understand that this is not a winning organization.
- 24:28I'm not going to be sitting here like, and I know Fish is going
- 24:31to come out and he's going to do things and he hates The Jets and
- 24:34a lot of Giant fans can't stand the New York Jet fans.
- 24:36Gangrene. It's a worst name.
- 24:38I think it's a worst football name in in professional sports.
- 24:42It's terrible. You can't sit here and tell me
- 24:45what The Jets have done so far this year and the way they've
- 24:48looked that this doesn't look like a better team.
- 24:52They look better than they have. They have been in every single
- 24:56game consistently throughout the first game all the way to the
- 25:016th game. Now, I'm not going to cheer for
- 25:03that. I'm not going to jump for joy
- 25:04for that, but that's something. That is something Detroit, the
- 25:09Lions, Dan Campbell, Aaron Glenn was a part of that growth and
- 25:14that team. He was the defensive coordinator
- 25:16when Dan Campbell, Dan Campbell hired Aaron Glenn to be his
- 25:19defensive coordinator. And if you remember, Aaron Glenn
- 25:22was the quarterback coach of the Saints under Sean Payton.
- 25:27Does anybody know that? I'm giving you, I'm going to
- 25:30spit some facts to you guys, Who is Sean Payton?
- 25:33Sean Payton is a disciple of who?
- 25:34Bill Parcells. Dan Campbell, Who is he a
- 25:37disciple of? Bill Parcells.
- 25:39Now you look at Bill Parcells and his record everywhere he's
- 25:42gone. Is Bill Parcells one of the
- 25:44greatest coaches of all time? You would probably say yes.
- 25:47And every single coach that I can remember that comes from
- 25:51that tree. Bill Belichick, one of the
- 25:53greatest of all time. Tom Coughlin, one of the
- 25:56greatest of all time. I don't know.
- 25:58Sean Payton, one of the greatest of all time.
- 26:01Tank Campbell, He's pretty, pretty great right now.
- 26:05He won coach of the year last year.
- 26:07Everyone of these guys that come from the Bill Parcells tree is
- 26:11usually successful and it takes a little while to figure things
- 26:16out. When Tom Coughlin came to the
- 26:18Giants, were they winning? They weren't.
- 26:20Their first two years was block. Then they made a move for Eli
- 26:24Manning. It took a year.
- 26:25They brought in Kurt Warner. Six games in, they brought it.
- 26:28Tom Coughlin took took it on a whim.
- 26:30He decided to move on from Kurt Warner.
- 26:33They brought in Eli Manning in week 5 or 6 when the Giants had
- 26:36a winning record. That year.
- 26:37The Giants did not make the playoffs guys.
- 26:40They did not. But did Tom Coughlin make the
- 26:42right choice? He did did.
- 26:43Aaron Glenn is not a stupid man. This guy was a successful player
- 26:47in the NFL. He was one of the best corners
- 26:50in the 90s. For four years.
- 26:53He was an elite corner, a Pro Bowl corner.
- 26:55He knows a little bit about the game here.
- 26:58Here's another problem with The Jets that people don't see.
- 27:01The secondary on this roster is really, really bad.
- 27:04Besides sauce, what do they got? They brought Brownlee in to play
- 27:08safety. Brownlee, who they drafted as a
- 27:10wide receiver, they brought in more from Alabama.
- 27:13He was a fourth round talent. Everybody thought that this guy,
- 27:16this guys been he's been horrible.
- 27:18Adams, I thought he was going to be good.
- 27:21He he fit the Robert solar craft.
- 27:24He's there. He's he lost his job.
- 27:26This team is not good in the secondary.
- 27:29Their front 7. Quinton Williams is good.
- 27:31Will McDonald, he looked good in the first game.
- 27:34He hasn't had a sack since the first game.
- 27:36He had two sacks in the first game.
- 27:38He has not had a sack since the Pittsburgh game.
- 27:42The Jets are one of the worst at putting pressure on the opposing
- 27:46quarterback. Why guys?
- 27:49Because Steve Wilkes is doing the most ridiculous things and
- 27:53everybody's going to say, what do you see, Arrow?
- 27:55What do you see? Here's what I see.
- 27:57Ever since Quincy Williams went down, they have no pass rush up
- 28:01the middle. They have nothing.
- 28:02Now they're trying to go on the edges and Jermaine Johnson, it's
- 28:05just not that guy. Honestly, Jermaine Johnson
- 28:08should be a middle linebacker. He's a run stopper.
- 28:11He's not a defensive head. They need to shift him to the
- 28:14linebacker position. If they bring him back, he's not
- 28:16going to get paid a lot of money because he's not had a good
- 28:18season. You move to the middle
- 28:20linebacker position. Remember when he played college
- 28:22ball? What position was he playing in?
- 28:24Florida State, Speedy. He.
- 28:26Was an outside linebacker. He was a linebacker and that's
- 28:29where he should be. He should not be a defensive
- 28:31end. Will McDonald, I think he is an
- 28:34efficient defensive end, but he's not a number one.
- 28:37He's a good number 2. They need to find a prominent
- 28:41pass rusher now. Those don't.
- 28:44They don't grow on trees guys, but there are going to be guys
- 28:47that are going to be available next year that The Jets should
- 28:50be looking at. Veteran guys that can help, guys
- 28:52like Will McDonald. How about this Von Miller, even
- 28:56though he's not in, he's not the same player he once was.
- 28:59He signed a one year deal. I forget who he's playing for
- 29:02this year. I don't remember.
- 29:04I I pretty. Sure, he's with Washington.
- 29:06I could be. I think he is with Washington.
- 29:08He is with Washington right now. Von Miller becomes available in
- 29:10your season. I'd bring Von Miller in, I'd
- 29:13bring him in. I'd bring a veteran guy in to
- 29:15help. Will McDonald develop?
- 29:17He's got, by the way, who did will McDonald break?
- 29:21What record did he break in college to become the most
- 29:25efficient pass rusher in his conference?
- 29:28Von Miller. So you look at it and you
- 29:31understand that The Jets need to be a little bit smarter.
- 29:34Stop pointing fingers. Stop blaming somebody.
- 29:37This is not a winning season. This is not a winning roster.
- 29:40Any Jet fans standing here today listening to me understands that
- 29:45this team is not a good one. But that doesn't mean mean that
- 29:49if they had three or four pieces in the offseason, they can't be
- 29:52a contender. They can't make the playoffs
- 29:54next year. And by the way, they need to
- 29:57figure out the quarterback position.
- 29:59The Jets are going to get a top three pick this year.
- 30:01They're going to get a chance. Is it going to be Mendoza,
- 30:03Fernando Mendoza maybe from Indiana?
- 30:06He looks like he's going to be a player.
- 30:07Are they going to go after seller?
- 30:09Sellers is a is a good young quarterback.
- 30:11We've watched him for Carol and play for Carolina, South
- 30:13Carolina. Maybe he's a guy that The Jets
- 30:16will be interested, interested in.
- 30:18The Jets need to make the right decision at the quarterback
- 30:22position. If The Jets want to win in the
- 30:25future, they cannot keep making these bad mistakes.
- 30:29Remember, Fish, you know this, Speedy.
- 30:31You know this. When you pick a quarterback and
- 30:34you're wrong about a quarterback, that sets your team
- 30:36back 8 to 10 years, 8 to 10 years, and every eight to 10
- 30:43years The Jets make the same friggin mistake.
- 30:48Mark Sanchez, We saw what happened to him.
- 30:50Remember him? Mark Sanchez.
- 30:53What was Mark Sanchez doing in Indiana the night before he was
- 30:57supposed to be a broadcaster and work with Iron Eagle?
- 31:00I, I, I think I know what he was doing, ladies and gentlemen.
- 31:03He was out drinking and then threatens a guy that was doing
- 31:07his job, a 70 year old man, and threatens to kill him.
- 31:11And then he gets stabbed up. And then he runs away and tells
- 31:14everybody, including the police and the detective that goes to
- 31:17the hospital that he doesn't remember anything.
- 31:19And then Fox, I don't know if it's true or not.
- 31:23Fox tried to brush this under the rug.
- 31:25Nobody's even talking about this anymore.
- 31:27That was a huge story. And then all of a sudden, it
- 31:30absolutely disappeared. And by the way, Mark Sanchez was
- 31:33not fired from Fox yet. Does that make any sense to you
- 31:36guys? It doesn't to me, but that's
- 31:38very jet like. Do we remember Sheldon
- 31:42Richardson, defensive lineman The Jets drafted in the first
- 31:44round in the offseason? This man decided to go and drive
- 31:48his brand new car, 100. And 20 mph on an open Rd. with a
- 31:54kid in the back with a gun in his car with his best buddy in
- 31:58the front with him smoking marijuana gets pulled by over by
- 32:03a cop. And then when he gets pulled out
- 32:06of the car and the cop says what do you have in the car?
- 32:10He says, oh, nothing, absolutely nothing.
- 32:14And he says smells like marijuana in here.
- 32:16And he said well, I, I don't know where that smells coming
- 32:19from. And then they seem to go under
- 32:22his seat and they find a gun under his seat with a kid in the
- 32:25back, no, no older than five in the back of the seat with by the
- 32:30way, not in his high chair, not in even, not even a kids seat.
- 32:34He was buckled in a seat illegally.
- 32:40It's very jet like this is not I'm I'm not even making a joke
- 32:43about this. It it happens.
- 32:45Here's another one. Here's another story.
- 32:48X jet tight end. You know where I'm going at.
- 32:51I'm not going to mention any names.
- 32:54He was at Walmart in New Jersey and he decided for some reason
- 33:00to get messed up and play with himself.
- 33:06Gets caught by a cop, gets arrested and gets thrown off for
- 33:11the New York Jets roster. Do you want me to go on?
- 33:15I could go on and on and on and on about the New York Jets.
- 33:19It's always a debacle. It's always a story and and
- 33:23everybody wants to blame Woody Johnson.
- 33:24These guys are professional athletes.
- 33:27They're multimillionaires. There is no excuse for them.
- 33:31There's no excuse for the losing.
- 33:32I know Jet fans are going to say, well, you want to blame
- 33:35somebody. There's no blaming anybody.
- 33:37Yesterday's game was strictly on the players, not the coaching
- 33:43the players. They were down 13 to 11 against
- 33:46a team that made the playoffs last year, a quarterback and
- 33:50Bone Nix that was one of the best young quarterbacks in the
- 33:53league, who by the way, did not have a good game.
- 33:56Bone Nix was 19 for thirty, 174 yards, 1 passing touchdown and
- 34:01he was sacked once. His his quarterback rating was
- 34:0490, but nevertheless, he was not good.
- 34:07They couldn't run the ball. The Jets actually stopped the
- 34:09run yesterday. It didn't matter.
- 34:12It didn't matter what The Jets did, because The Jets couldn't
- 34:15get out of their own friggin ways.
- 34:18You know, Errol, I think that a lot of Jets fans would disagree
- 34:20with you and blame the coaching because of what happened at the
- 34:23end of the first half. You know, they lose by less than
- 34:25three points and that's an easy, you know, couple of plays they
- 34:28could have gotten off to get into field goal range and that
- 34:31could have been the difference in the game.
- 34:32And I think you saw a lot of this type of stuff in Dan
- 34:35Campbell's first year when Glenn was there as a defensive
- 34:38coordinator where they still didn't have these real good, you
- 34:41know, during the game, you know, skills that you need a coach
- 34:45that he just hasn't developed yet.
- 34:46But you know that Glenn is being hired as a program builder.
- 34:49He's not being hired as he's going to be this elite, you
- 34:52know, during the game, you know, coach, he's going to develop
- 34:56that over time. You got to give guys that are
- 34:58new at coaching and The Jets have hired I I went through the
- 35:02list. You realize they haven't hired a
- 35:04coach that had prior head coaching experience since Bill
- 35:08Parcells. I know oh wow, every every
- 35:10single coach they hired I know was never a head coach before
- 35:14since Parcells look Al grow wasn't a head coach her Eric
- 35:16Mangini or The Jets Mangini Rex wasn't a head coach bowls.
- 35:21That was his first head coaching job.
- 35:23Gays, Sala, Ulbrich and now Glenn.
- 35:26Not a single one since Parcells had any experience.
- 35:30Gays did in Miami, but that was not good either.
- 35:33That's why it was so puzzling, because he completely flamed out
- 35:36with Miami, and he had only done that briefly because he was
- 35:41Peyton Manning's guy and he got all the credit for maybe.
- 35:43Maybe Peyton Manning knew a little bit about offense and it
- 35:46wasn't. Well, first of all, Peyton
- 35:47Manning screwed the New York Jets.
- 35:49Let's be quite honest here. He was supposed to be the number
- 35:52one pick in that draft. Instead, he decided.
- 35:54Him and Archie Manning decided, hey, you know what, I want to go
- 35:58in my senior year to play for Tennessee.
- 35:59I don't want to go into the draft.
- 36:01And The Jets, who did they draft?
- 36:02Keyshawn Johnson? And and that was a debacle
- 36:05himself. And that's another whole nother
- 36:07story over there as he started with Wayne Quebec called him a
- 36:09flashlight and The Jets had to move on from him.
- 36:12Then he goes to Tampa and wins the Super Bowl over there with
- 36:14Tampa and and John Gruden. That's a whole nother story.
- 36:16Keyshawn Johnson, also implied by the great Fox Sports.
- 36:19Yeah, that's a that's a whole nother story too.
- 36:21It seems like every single jet that gets a job when it comes to
- 36:24broadcasting or media work, they get fired as well, so.
- 36:28And I realize your Bill Parcells argument.
- 36:31It's a great argument, but there's one flaw.
- 36:33What if they're great? Everyone from the Parcells tree
- 36:37is this great football mind. Joe Shane is also from the Bill
- 36:42Parcells tree. So I think if if that maybe Joe
- 36:47Shane is still developing. One exception everywhere.
- 36:51Joe Shane first First of all, Joe Shane was not considered the
- 36:56on on the Bill Parcells tree. Well, you can say that, but he
- 36:59started under Parcells. He was.
- 37:01He's Buffalo Bills. Come on, stop.
- 37:03Stop trying to jerk. Come on, Jerk me off on, man.
- 37:05Let's face it. You're, you're, you're trying to
- 37:07play games here and you're trying to throw me a feather.
- 37:10I, I to me right now with the New York Jets, just have to
- 37:13figure out who they are. And until they figure that out,
- 37:16Jim can, Dan Campbell said it very, very well after his first
- 37:20year with the Lions. And I remember what he said at
- 37:23the press conference, he said this year was a dud.
- 37:27We're A-Team. We're going to stick together
- 37:29and we're going to be better next year and we're going to
- 37:32come out harder. We're going to work harder in
- 37:33the offseason. We're going to play harder and
- 37:35we're going to come out as champions the next year.
- 37:37Dan Campbell, you how could you not like Dan Campbell?
- 37:40Did you watch him yesterday when you even they lost against
- 37:43Kansas City and coming out in the second-half, he said,
- 37:45listen, we have to score 30. If we don't score 30 against
- 37:48this team, we're not winning. And he he did it in such a
- 37:51unique way. And he's got that, that just
- 37:54like that personality that that squaring personality that you
- 37:58love. And even the broadcasters, they
- 38:00loved it after they got off. How could you not like that guy?
- 38:03Aaron Glenn needs to go up to the media and, and, and not try
- 38:07to make excuses. Don't be don't be Todd Bowles,
- 38:12don't be Rex Ryan, don't be Eric Mangini, who was quiet to the
- 38:16media. Herm Edwards, We play to win the
- 38:20game. You know, I, I, I don't be like
- 38:23these guys. Go up there and call your
- 38:25players out. Call them out, go out there and
- 38:29say Justin needs to play better not do it the next day when your
- 38:33owner probably said, why did you say why don't you tell the
- 38:36truth? Why not go after Will McDonnell?
- 38:42Will McDonnell has two sacks in game #1 he has and had one since
- 38:47then. There's just a lot of things as
- 38:51a Jet fan, that where are you? It worries me, Speedy.
- 38:54Yeah, and again, you look at the analogies of making, of trying
- 38:57to build a team culture. We've made the Lions win a lot,
- 38:59obviously, because that's where Glenn came from.
- 39:01But I'll, I'll give you two others too.
- 39:02The Saints, when Sean Payton first got there too, they were
- 39:05considered a poverty franchise for a while.
- 39:07They didn't make the playoffs until 1989.
- 39:09They made a couple of playoffs appearance since then.
- 39:11Obviously Mike Ditka was there. He traded up for Ricky Williams
- 39:14and then they Sean Payton to undo all of that and trying to
- 39:17make it work. They took a chance on Drew
- 39:18Brees, which obviously helped out, but they needed that kind
- 39:21of culture change for a team that was a really dysfunctional
- 39:24mess in a football culture that's very good.
- 39:26They made the playoffs within three years or so.
- 39:28They went to the NFC championship game, lost to
- 39:29Chicago, and they won a Super Bowl a few years later.
- 39:32The other one is the Bills. Recently.
- 39:34The Bills, their first two years were not great.
- 39:36When they first brought in Sean McDermott, they had a long
- 39:37playoff drought. They make the playoffs with
- 39:39Tyrod Taylor, Josh Allen's first year.
- 39:40They were projected to be one of the worst teams in the AFC, but
- 39:43they still believed in each other.
- 39:44The Jets need that kind of belief in these players,
- 39:47especially the ones that had the, I guess the stench of the
- 39:51previous. Result.
- 39:52Was it a stench, man? Yes, and a bad one.
- 39:54And I think that's where you were talking about a few few
- 39:56weeks ago with Sauce Gardner. I think a lot of that the his
- 39:58struggles in the beginning. Of this and here's another thing
- 40:01before we get into the Penn State.
- 40:02Neat story. Here's another thing that really
- 40:04bothers me. The Jets over the last five
- 40:06years have been a top 10 defense, top 10 defense.
- 40:11It doesn't matter who their coordinator was.
- 40:14They were a top 10 defense last year.
- 40:16They were a top five defense. How do you go from a top five
- 40:19defense to not even in a not even a top 20 defense in all of
- 40:23football? That's scary.
- 40:26And Aaron Glenn has to look at Steve Wilkes and say this guy is
- 40:30not my guy. I got to take the reins here.
- 40:33I got to be the defensive coordinator.
- 40:35I got to play my defensive game. It's worked over there.
- 40:39It worked with the Lions. It didn't matter.
- 40:41He lost Aidan Hutchinson last year.
- 40:43He lost practically his whole front seven.
- 40:46He lost like five of his front 7.
- 40:48And he still had one of the best defenses in the league.
- 40:51And his team still went as far as they did.
- 40:53And they were the best team in the NFC last year.
- 40:57And one of the reasons why was Aaron Glenn.
- 40:59Nobody was scared of Ben Johnson going to Chicago.
- 41:02Everybody was happy that Aaron Glenn left the NFC North.
- 41:08A lot of coaches, a lot of players said that he gave a lot
- 41:13of these offenses problems, problems of sleeping offensive
- 41:19coordinators. They couldn't sleep when they
- 41:21were playing Aaron Glenn's defense.
- 41:23Well, you know that as Aaron, and I know Aaron Glenn wants to
- 41:25beat Bill Parcells and he wants to beat.
- 41:27He doesn't want to be considered a defensive guy.
- 41:29But Steve Wilkes is not your man.
- 41:32He's not your man. And the players don't like him.
- 41:35They don't like him. It's pretty simple.
- 41:38I don't care if he's your best friend, your best buddy, he
- 41:41doesn't work. Yeah, I know.
- 41:44We were to think that the schematic trajectory to Steve
- 41:47Wilkes similar 43 type defense to Sala and then Aaron Glenn is
- 41:50trying to bring in kind of a hybrid attacking a little
- 41:52different. So I think it's all mixed up all
- 41:54at once. I felt bad for Wilkes when the
- 41:56Niners randomly fired him. And last year, obviously.
- 41:58Obviously deserved. I mean, yeah, but again, the
- 42:00Niners going with a friggin special teams coordinators.
- 42:03The defensive coordinator maybe wasn't a good idea either.
- 42:05Now they have Bambi back. But nevertheless, yeah, there
- 42:08comes a point where Aaron Glenn does have to step in and make
- 42:10that real first move as a head coach to say I'm taking over
- 42:13the. Not bring Steve Wilkes back next
- 42:15year. He better not do that.
- 42:17That is, that should be rule number one in the offseason.
- 42:20Fire Steve Wilkes. That's a rule that has to not be
- 42:24broken. All right, that is embarrassing.
- 42:27What Steve Wilkes is doing right now is the defensive coordinator
- 42:30for the New York Jets. This is a good defense.
- 42:32This is a good defense that's failing to be the defense that
- 42:36we thought they were going to be with Jermaine Johnson on one
- 42:38side and Will McDonald on the other and Quinton Williams in
- 42:41the middle, with Phillips, who they added in the offseason that
- 42:44everybody thought was an absolute, absolute home run for
- 42:48the New York Jets. The Associate Press reports that
- 42:52Penn State University has fired head coach James Franklin.
- 42:57The move comes after losing their third consecutive game,
- 43:00including two straight losses to unranked opponents they were
- 43:04favored to beat by over 20 points, the first time that has
- 43:09happened since Texas Tech in 1997.
- 43:13James Franklin will not be going to to the poor house as he is
- 43:18still owed a guarantee $49,000,000, the second largest
- 43:23buyout ever, only behind Jimbo Fisher who got 76 million in a
- 43:29buyout money from Texas A&M. Penn State spent a school record
- 43:34of $20 million in the transfer portal this year.
- 43:39After Franklin made comments last year critical of the NIL
- 43:44system and now and how the transfer portal has hurt college
- 43:49football as a whole, he's not the only one.
- 43:52Franklin is likely to have many suitors for his services,
- 43:57including power for schools like UCLA, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech
- 44:01and Arkansas. Nebraska head coach Matt Rule is
- 44:05currently the betting favorite to become Penn State's next head
- 44:08coach, followed by Bill O'Brien and Indiana head coach Kurt
- 44:13Cignetti. Franklin finished with 104 and
- 44:1945 record in 11 1/2 coaching years for Penn State, tied
- 44:24second in school history with wins.
- 44:28I'm I'm going to say this, I like Coach Franklin.
- 44:34I've argued with Fish. I argued with Jake over about a
- 44:39week ago. I thought Franklin was going to
- 44:43keep his job. I really did.
- 44:46He had a bad season. It hasn't looked good.
- 44:48The players aren't buying in to the way he is coaching right
- 44:51now. That doesn't mean that he
- 44:53couldn't clean it up in the off season and turn this team into a
- 44:56contender. About a year ago, this team was
- 45:03one game away from going to a national championship.
- 45:07One game. I remember it like it was
- 45:11yesterday. And who did he who beat him?
- 45:13Speedy Riley Leonard. Riley Leonard, a friend of ours.
- 45:18We all understand that winning means everything in college
- 45:22football, and with the money that's given to players and the
- 45:25portal that any player can jump in and move wherever he wants in
- 45:29the offseason. Yeah, you would expect that
- 45:34James Franklin was going to figure this out and make this a
- 45:37better winning season. It didn't work out that way.
- 45:41Now, maybe it was the fans booing him and and trying to
- 45:46find ways to get his contract being bought out.
- 45:49I, I don't know. I, I don't know what the truth
- 45:52is. I'm not a Penn State guy.
- 45:54I don't know. I'm not in the offices over
- 45:57there with the program athletic director trying to figure out
- 46:01who they're going to bring in next.
- 46:03The fact here is James Franklin is going to get another job.
- 46:07He is. He is a great coach.
- 46:09He's one of the best in the country.
- 46:12When you look at a record like this in 11 years, how many
- 46:17coaches in NCAA, NCAA history has a record like this one?
- 46:24Think about it. I, I just, my argument here
- 46:28isn't that he hasn't been good this past year.
- 46:30My argument here is he is a quality coach.
- 46:34You don't just push a quality coach out like this for no
- 46:38reason. And everybody's going to say,
- 46:39well, wait a second, they're losing this year.
- 46:42He can't win against top end teams.
- 46:45He's got a losing record against top and top 20 teams.
- 46:50This guy was one game away from being in a national
- 46:53championship. And you're going to sit here and
- 46:56tell me, well, that doesn't matter, Who cares?
- 47:01This guy didn't have a number one quarterback this year.
- 47:04I'm sorry, they didn't. I know a lot of people wanted to
- 47:08believe that this running game that everybody thought was going
- 47:11to be superb, the best in the nation, where they ranked 13th,
- 47:1614th in the nation, when they were supposed to be a top two,
- 47:19top three running game. Players aren't playing.
- 47:24You're going to blame the coaches.
- 47:26Is it partially his fault? Yeah, it is.
- 47:29You're you're the coach. You take responsibility for it.
- 47:32But the fact is, as much as you want to blame the coach, you got
- 47:37to blame the players. You're a professional athlete,
- 47:42OK? Jabba knows this.
- 47:45You go out there, you get signed, you're getting a lot of
- 47:48money. The coach goes out there.
- 47:50You're a pitcher. Coach goes out there, he works
- 47:54with you before the game, you're practicing and you're ready to
- 47:58go out there. You go on the mound, you throw 3
- 48:02innings and you suck. Who they going to point their
- 48:07finger to? Are they going to point their
- 48:08finger at the player if he's a superstar player or are they
- 48:12going to point him at the coach? They're going to point it at the
- 48:17manager. Why?
- 48:19Because the first person they want to blame is not the player.
- 48:23Because they love the player. They're going to blame the
- 48:26coach. Job is in right now.
- 48:30That's the job. What's up job?
- 48:33No, I I can only imagine moving three houses.
- 48:37My problem here with the Penn State situation is pretty
- 48:40simple. Who they going to bring in Matt
- 48:42rule? What I I know Jabba is a
- 48:45Nebraska fan. Matt Rule, what has he won?
- 48:48Has he won a national champion, a championship?
- 48:50Has he ever played or one game away from winning a national
- 48:54championship? The answer would be no, he has
- 48:56not been successful. So you're going to take Matt
- 48:58Rule over James Franklin? That makes sense.
- 49:00OK, so maybe you decide not to go at Matt Roll.
- 49:03Bill O'Brien. Now, Bill O'Brien was successful
- 49:06over there with Penn State. He was, he was very successful.
- 49:09He brought that, that tight end, the dual tight end and the
- 49:13running game and all that other stuff and, and they were
- 49:16successful. Did they win a national
- 49:17championship with with Bill O'Brien?
- 49:20No, they did not. Did they play in a national
- 49:22championship? No, they did not.
- 49:25Were they one game away from a national championship speedy?
- 49:28No, they were not. So what is it with everybody
- 49:33saying, well, you know what? He had a bad season, so we're
- 49:35going to give up on the one guy that was what had the second
- 49:39best record in Penn State history, right behind who?
- 49:44Speedy Joe Paterno. Joe Paterno, one of the greatest
- 49:48coaches in NCAA history, Do you? What nonsense does people have
- 49:56here? It's it's lost.
- 49:58It's lost for what this guy did this year.
- 50:01And the players not buying into his, his, his way of coaching.
- 50:05They maybe he picked the wrong players.
- 50:06Maybe he picked the wrong running backs, maybe he picked
- 50:09the wrong offensive line. Maybe he picked the wrong portal
- 50:11guys. Maybe they invested too many,
- 50:13too much money, $20 million in the wrong guys.
- 50:16That happens. So you're going to give up on a
- 50:19guy that was one year away from possibly going to win a national
- 50:23championship? I don't want to hear it.
- 50:26And I know what everybody's going to tell me.
- 50:28The one argument is he can't beat top ten teams.
- 50:36I, I just, I don't understand this.
- 50:39And that's, that's sports, guys. That's sports.
- 50:42That's why I sit here and I'm trying to figure out and I'm
- 50:45trying to put two and two together as an analyst and
- 50:48analyzing why teams or why coaches get fired.
- 50:51It makes no sense. And this and then Bill
- 50:53Belichick, I mean, that made no sense why he got fired.
- 50:57That made no sense. Robert Kraft was pissed off and
- 51:00Tom Brady and him were in an onslaught and onslaught.
- 51:03Robert Kraft was pissed off that he had to trade Tom Brady and
- 51:08let Tom Brady go to the Buccaneers and that pissed him
- 51:12off and that turned him against Bill.
- 51:14Bill Belichick. That's what I think.
- 51:17I think that's the reason why Bill Belichick was let go was
- 51:20because of the whole Tom Brady thing.
- 51:22Because Tom Brady won a championship with the Buccaneers
- 51:24and he didn't win a championship back with the New England
- 51:27Patriots. He made the wrong decision in
- 51:29his eyes, Robert Kraft said. And his little P brain is I
- 51:33should have fired Bill Belichick and kept Tom Brady.
- 51:36Maybe he would have been right, maybe not.
- 51:39The fact is you can make these decisions on a whim, and that's
- 51:44what I think Penn State did. This could set this team behind
- 51:50for the next couple years. Now you're bringing in a new
- 51:52coach, a new way of thinking offensively and defensively, and
- 51:57that takes three years to develop and and put players in
- 52:00your scheme of things. So that means Penn State could
- 52:04be bad for the next two or three years.
- 52:06I wonder with James Franklin too, because I think him trying
- 52:10to go into the transfer portal was a way of trying to elevate a
- 52:13job. I wonder if he knew he was
- 52:14already like already in trouble based on that.
- 52:16Now, last year obviously was a better boost for him.
- 52:18They went to the College Football Playoff in the first
- 52:20year of the expanded format. But again, where they finished
- 52:23is probably about the same as where they finished in the years
- 52:25and they they quote UN quote miss just because the the
- 52:27platform didn't expand to 4. The analogy I I've made, I know
- 52:30you were talking about you and the other people on the panel
- 52:33last week were talking about Mike Tomlin is an analogy of Tom
- 52:36Coughlin. We heard his analogy.
- 52:38The one I wanted to make was Marvin Lewis.
- 52:40I think Marvin Lewis was a guy that's really good program
- 52:42builder, like you've always said, Errol, one of the best
- 52:45player development coaches in the NFL at that fantastic with
- 52:48the Cincinnati Bengals. And I think you're seeing that
- 52:49same kind of thing here. You look at Penn State, they've
- 52:51been a factory of linebackers. They've been a factory, like you
- 52:53said, of tight ends that have been very good for a while,
- 52:55offensive lineman with Fashanu, with The Jets and other guys
- 52:58like that over the years. They've been very good.
- 53:00It's just a matter of like getting those concepts into
- 53:02college football to be able to adapt to the modern game.
- 53:05We saw that in the SEC when the SEC was always that defense
- 53:07first conference and running game.
- 53:10Some coaches evolved to finally get the quarterbacks there and
- 53:12Georgia took a little while for them, but they finally won a
- 53:15national championship. Alabama had to evolve to get
- 53:17these better quarterbacks to get in there to win national
- 53:19championships when they were running with Derrick Henry and
- 53:21like AJ McCarron was their was their quarterback.
- 53:24Yikes. Like those are the types of
- 53:26things you have to evolve to. And I don't know if Franklin did
- 53:27that. I was kind of off of him in the
- 53:29end of 2023. That was their most talented
- 53:31year. That was their best chance
- 53:32because Ohio State was down and Michigan, that was the year that
- 53:35the scandal hit them and Penn State lost in Michigan that
- 53:38year. So that was when I was out on
- 53:39him. I agree with you.
- 53:40Here's another job. State and I remember that year,
- 53:43Michigan was still a good team. They were still at a great
- 53:46roster. Penn State at the time was in a
- 53:48College Football Playoffs, but they were #3 I believe at the
- 53:50time. And then they lost when they had
- 53:53the interim coach in. And then they lost another game
- 53:55that they shouldn't have lost back to the Michigan State or
- 53:56something like that. And I think that's where it
- 53:58started to crumble for him. And that's where I think all
- 54:00these hot seat questions started to rise with them.
- 54:02Now, where they go after that, I think Cignetti would be the best
- 54:04choice because Indiana was a similarly rising pro, was a
- 54:07similarly struggling program. They had one Goodyear in the
- 54:09COVID year and Cignetti's done a great job with that team since.
- 54:12Then I think you go Bill O'Brien.
- 54:14OK? I don't think that's where you
- 54:16go. Yeah, I I like that idea too.
- 54:17Obviously, there's a lot of familiarity there.
- 54:19I just think the concepts do have to change though, and I
- 54:21wonder if they go with a different type of style.
- 54:23Like you saw these SEC teams too.
- 54:24There's going to be a lot of like quarterback type coaches
- 54:26out there because their quarterbacks hurt now.
- 54:27But it's going to take three years.
- 54:30You're going to have to completely change this whole
- 54:32roster. Whoever he the, the, the, the
- 54:35team brings in the, the, the program director, the sports
- 54:39director decides to bring in. You're bringing in a new guy
- 54:43that has a completely different way he's going to run this
- 54:46roster and run this team. So now you're set back.
- 54:49You're, you're taking a step back again.
- 54:52Penn State When was the last time they won a national
- 54:54championship? In the 80s with Paterno.
- 54:55There you go. And they were one game away from
- 54:59going to a national championship and then they're just going to
- 55:02part ways with the guy that got him there.
- 55:04And that's why college football's different.
- 55:06And I think Carl's mentioning that very well in the comment
- 55:07section before you go Java, he's mentioning how you should, you
- 55:11could question who they brought in because the there's not a lot
- 55:13of continuity because college players, because they change so
- 55:16much. And obviously college football
- 55:17different in the NFL, you need to have that right type of right
- 55:20type of thing. But it's also not as much the
- 55:21coaches, the power as much as just the recruiting and the NIL
- 55:24money that they're going to have too.
- 55:26And that's where I think, frankly, it does have maybe to
- 55:27go to a team like UCLA or something like that and still
- 55:29rebirth his image. And I think when it comes to
- 55:33Penn State, though, they have to get the identity changed to not
- 55:35be the same, like running in defense, I think.
- 55:37You're right like on the on the three-year deal with whoever it
- 55:40is and that's kind of going into with with rule.
- 55:42How you know it's been the three-year thing with him at
- 55:45Temple Baylor. We've obviously seen it hasn't
- 55:47really translated in the NFL. It's it's like wildfire here
- 55:52right now with the fact that he went to Penn State was a walk on
- 55:56three time academic, all American.
- 55:57His family's still there and his best friend is the AD.
- 56:00There's a lot of stuff going that way.
- 56:02And I've heard a lot of it had actually a couple conversations
- 56:05about it today. And it's, I mean, it's a win win
- 56:08for him personally, if it if it works, Obviously you don't know.
- 56:13But yeah, he it's that it's that time right now for us because
- 56:17it's his third year here and obviously we're ranked.
- 56:20Everybody was still moaning and groaning about the fact that
- 56:24since he is is 1 ahead of us and we beat since he, but I mean,
- 56:28we're just ranked. So we're we're excited about
- 56:30that. But yeah, I think there's
- 56:32probably other factors that are going to play into this.
- 56:36But I think if if rule wants the job, he it it'd be his former
- 56:42player. Obviously great standing in the
- 56:44community was like there. I mean, he started his coaching
- 56:47career there, ended up, you know, obviously moving forward
- 56:52with a bunch of I just don't think though, if if he said I
- 56:56want to go there, that they would kind of turn the other
- 56:58cheek and go somewhere else. But like I said, it's it's
- 57:02anything here when we're finally successful or semi successful or
- 57:06having a winning record for us is meaning we've been successful
- 57:08lately. But it's kind of the way Penn
- 57:11State feels right now too. And that that's kind of rules.
- 57:15MO is that rule of three, like seeing what he did at Baylor,
- 57:18seeing what he did at Temple and you know, the third year is kind
- 57:20of when it turns around. So I I don't know, it's been
- 57:24it's been funny listening to talk radio here as as I've just
- 57:26been in the truck going back and forth everywhere today and you
- 57:29know, people's panties are all in a bunch around here.
- 57:31You know it's. You know it's.
- 57:33We were. There's three of us and we all
- 57:35have different coaches that we believe could could get the job.
- 57:37I have Bill O'Brien, you got the Indiana coach and he's got that
- 57:41rule. That's why I think should get
- 57:42it. I don't know if he will, but I'm
- 57:43actually going to reveal it later who I think they who are
- 57:45they will. I'm getting in our final
- 57:46segment. It's going to be a bold one, but
- 57:48I that's what I think they should have go because these
- 57:50guys that has big 10 familiarity too and Java.
- 57:52It's interesting. I don't know if you saw this on
- 57:54Twitter like that. A lot of people are saying, oh,
- 57:56why would they go after Matt Rule when he's the other one
- 57:57that hasn't won big games like you're gonna recycle type thing,
- 58:00even though it's a different philosophy all together.
- 58:03Yeah, and Fish said it too. It's like he was he was part of
- 58:06the question about not winning against ranked teams and
- 58:09whatever. So yeah, it's I it's 6 1/2 dozen
- 58:12to the other, right? Which way do you go?
- 58:13That's it for our show. A shout out to Java.
- 58:17He's moving three houses. He he actually showed up for a
- 58:20little bit of the baseball segment.
- 58:22So thank you to Jabba. He definitely popped right in
- 58:25and popped right out. Thank you to my good stir.

- 59:05Who do we have coming on? All right, Speaking of some SEC
- 59:07football, we have a former SEC football player of the year,
- 59:09also was an NFL quarterback. He played for Washington, the
- 59:11readers, the Bears and one other team I forget offhand, Jason
- 59:14Campbell will be joining the show.
- 59:15He now does Auburn Radio, radio broadcasting as well, and as a
- 59:19podcast on the Believe Network as well, which is the same as
- 59:22what our friend Bilal Powell. Has.
- 59:23Yeah. And just so everybody knows, we
- 59:25were asked to go on the Believe network and I decided two years
- 59:29ago, me and Speedy, I decided not to go on the believe network
- 59:32because I didn't like their offer.
- 59:34We were going to talk a little Nick's basketball at that point.
- 59:38But believe is doing some amazing things or a good podcast
- 59:41organization, a big organization.
- 59:43And they've got a lot of guys just like Blue wire with us.
- 59:46And thank you to Nick because Nick, Nick was behind all of
- 59:49that and, and getting us the hook up with Blue Wire.
- 59:53And and thank you to Blue Wire as well for letting us shout out
- 59:57to Kyle. I reached out to Kyle today.
- 59:59He was sensational. Thank you to Kyle for, you know,
- 1:00:02obviously reaching back to me. So yeah, we'll be back on
