- 0:29Welcome into this exciting episode of Real Biz.
- 0:32I'm your host, Bubba Starts, and with me today is the CEO and founder of Red Room
- 0:36Distribution, Lee Brown.
- 0:38Lee, welcome to the show, brother.
- 0:41You're on mute.
- 0:43Uh-oh.
- 0:44Can you hear me now?
- 0:45We gotcha.
- 0:47Hey.
- 0:47What's going on?
- 0:49Oh, man.
- 0:51We're having too much fun just doing the discovery call.
- 0:53I said, what the hell?
- 0:54Let's say.
- 0:56Before we get too far into everything, we got a lot to cover, obviously, with with the services
- 1:01and things that you provide with Red Room.
- 1:02But off the top here, kinda just wanna give you the floor.
- 1:05Give us a little bit of your backstory.
- 1:07I knew you were an artist before, and you worked, you know, high level industry, and now
- 1:11you're kind of in this different position here with your own company.
- 1:14So, the floor is yours, man.
- 1:16Give us a little bit of the, the 411 on Lee Brown.
- 1:19Alright.
- 1:20So, yeah, I started music back when I was really young, and, actually, I was rock and
- 1:24heavy metal.
- 1:26Jumped from there into hip hop, toured, traveled, performed everywhere.
- 1:31And now as I got older, the business side meant more to me than being on stage, a lot more fun
- 1:37to me and watching everybody grow.
- 1:38So here we are now.
- 1:41At Red Room Distribution, what we do is we pitch music.
- 1:44So we pitch to booking agents, labels, managers, promoters, playlists, radio, video
- 1:52games, movies.
- 1:53So, yeah, we do it all.
- 1:54So that's a little bit about us, and, we started back in, like, 2019 or so.
- 1:59That's awesome, man.
- 2:00Yeah.
- 2:00So you've been out here.
- 2:01You'll be celebrating a decade before too long.
- 2:04I'm sure that's gotta be kinda surreal.
- 2:06Looking back, we're we're a relatively new company here with the scene projects, and we
- 2:11haven't even been around two years, but we've experienced this massive growth over 1,500
- 2:15uploads on the YouTube channel last year, 360,000 views, like, a massive amount of
- 2:21attention and zero ad spent.
- 2:23Right?
- 2:23Like, all of it was just done by massive creation and and posting it and not worrying
- 2:29about, like, industry norms.
- 2:30Oh, well, you gotta just stick to a cadence and, you know, only release one episode a week.
- 2:35I think on our network right now, we have, like, seven, eight episodes a week that are
- 2:38coming out in some fashion somewhere.
- 2:41And it it was it was bucking that trend that I think has really set us apart.
- 2:46And now you see it, and you're like, holy cow.
- 2:48Like, yeah.
- 2:49And most of it came after we got the content creator of the year award.
- 2:53I felt like the the award wasn't a a payment for services rendered.
- 2:57It was a, it was kind of the starting gun.
- 2:59Right?
- 3:00Like, here you go.
- 3:00Alrighty.
- 3:01See what you can do with this.
- 3:02And it's allowed me to reach now up into the industry.
- 3:06Artists myself, Lee, you know, rock and country music, indie rock, I guess, it used to be.
- 3:12Now a little more, not necessarily twang, but a little bit of that kind of Americana bent.
- 3:18And, I think it's just the nature of being a, Midwestern artist that you're gonna be
- 3:24influenced by a lot different things than, you know, more more urban based artists.
- 3:29Right?
- 3:29Yep.
- 3:30There's more than corn in Indiana.
- 3:34Yeah.
- 3:34Well, you guys are gonna be busy here too.
- 3:36The NFL draft combine will be coming to town before too long.
- 3:40We cover the Vikings with our our sports network.
- 3:43So I've been trying to work some credentials with the NFL.
- 3:46I covered a PGA tour event last year, and I'm kind of familiar with the credentialing process
- 3:52for some of these bigger places now.
- 3:54So, yeah, trying to reach in, and I haven't been through Indianapolis in a long time.
- 3:59Long time.
- 4:00I mentioned we were from the Chicago area.
- 4:02But, I I'd I'd love for you to kinda describe a little bit of what a music distribution service
- 4:09like yours does.
- 4:10Now we know that you, you know, you take the songs and you put them out, but I I I have
- 4:14assumed that because being in this space a little bit now, that a lot of what you're doing
- 4:20early on with artists is in more of the consulting side and kind of helping them get
- 4:25their, their poop in a group, if you will, to keep it PG 13.
- 4:30But, you know, talk about, like, that process of finding someone with good music possibly,
- 4:36regardless of their followers, because I know you work with people that have a small follower
- 4:40base.
- 4:40So you found the music, but what's the process to kinda get them ready for distribution?
- 4:45Yeah.
- 4:46So when we meet with an artist, like I said, we have artists that have millions, and we have
- 4:50artists that have single digit numbers.
- 4:53But you always have to if you go with an artist with a single digit number, you kinda have to
- 4:57consult them, let them understand the game plan, let them understand there's a blueprint
- 5:02and how to, you know, succeed in their goals.
- 5:05They don't happen overnight.
- 5:06It does sometimes it does happen overnight, but very, very often that it's not.
- 5:11No.
- 5:12Well and I think that's something that everybody wants to go viral.
- 5:15Right?
- 5:15And then you see it and you're like, oh my god.
- 5:17That went there.
- 5:18Very rarely does a person make one video and that video goes to millions of views.
- 5:23Right?
- 5:24Like, it doesn't happen that way.
- 5:25What you're you're seeing the tip of the iceberg of maybe decades of work to get to that
- 5:30point and to have that moment.
- 5:32Right?
- 5:32Sometimes it happens.
- 5:34For some artists, they never get that moment like that, but they can still build a career
- 5:38and a following off of a lot of smaller spikes and plateaus and reaching into new communities
- 5:45and growing their fan base incrementally over time rather than a a million followers
- 5:50overnight.
- 5:51Yeah.
- 5:51If you try for a million followers overnight, you're probably gonna fail 98% of the time.
- 5:57And, you know, if if you stick with the game plan and know there is some structure, you'll
- 6:02you'll succeed.
- 6:03It might not be tomorrow, but you you will win at some point.
- 6:08So you're obviously reaching out into booking agents.
- 6:11So you're helping people find an agent possibly.
- 6:13And it it seems like and especially with kind of how your company is structured where it's
- 6:18not fee based, it's percentage based, that the 20% is a pretty typical manager level.
- 6:23Do you feel like you kinda fit in that manager role a little bit more without maybe, like, the
- 6:29business side of it?
- 6:30Some some contracts, you know, we facilitate, and some we don't.
- 6:34If they already have a manager, great.
- 6:36But if they ask us to sit in, we definitely will.
- 6:39So, yeah, I mean, there's a little bit of management aspect because, honestly, you know,
- 6:43everything we're pitching to could have been done years ago or whenever.
- 6:46It's just nobody's done it.
- 6:48So then we come in and let the artist see how it really works.
- 6:54Yeah.
- 6:54I I'm realizing a lot.
- 6:56Shout out to Music Mogul AI and Brad Stewart.
- 6:59He's been just a wealth of information for me.
- 7:02I kinda let my career, musically go.
- 7:05I did record an EP last year with some friends just to kinda get some of these songs out of my
- 7:10head, but the podcast had become the most important thing a while back.
- 7:15Right?
- 7:16Like, I had gone on tour and gone out for a little bit.
- 7:18Will you stop?
- 7:20Jeez.
- 7:20Cats, man.
- 7:21At least yours not crawling out.
- 7:23There he is.
- 7:25It's like they heard one another.
- 7:29Yeah.
- 7:29The music industry, not necessarily chew me up and spit me out.
- 7:34I was getting paid very well to go out and play on the road, but I'm almost 40, man.
- 7:38Like, I I just didn't have the love for it.
- 7:40And I found more of a love in having conversations and supporting other artists than
- 7:45I did for that.
- 7:46So your your story really kinda went on a similar arc with mine in there that, like,
- 7:51celebrating other people's wins makes me feel just as good.
- 7:54And I don't have to put in all the work of going out and performing in the setups and
- 7:57teardowns and late nights and, like, all of all of that stuff anymore.
- 8:02I'm just not built for it, man.
- 8:03Yeah.
- 8:04Right?
- 8:04And, you just don't worry about the critics.
- 8:06So if there's a critic out there dogging somebody else's music, hey.
- 8:09We we're the distributor.
- 8:10That's between y'all, not me and them.
- 8:12Now I ain't gotta worry about that stress and pressure anymore.
- 8:16Yeah.
- 8:16Well, it just removes all of that.
- 8:19What keeps you going in this industry?
- 8:21Is it just the winds?
- 8:22Is it working with other artists?
- 8:23Is it getting exposed to new music and just kind of always being kind of on that cutting
- 8:28edge of what's coming?
- 8:30Honestly, a lot of bit of everything.
- 8:33Because, you know, honestly, like, video games, we find out video games years in advance.
- 8:38You know, movies, long time in advance, probably a year or so.
- 8:42You know?
- 8:42So just seeing other people win and being able to pitch it and then you know, if you get 10
- 8:46no's, but there's that one yes, that one yes means more to you than anything.
- 8:51Yeah.
- 8:51You're gonna be lucky if it's only 10 no's to get one yes.
- 8:54Yeah.
- 8:55That's great.
- 8:56Yeah.
- 8:56Absolutely.
- 8:57But then, you know, we sadly, have had artists who've come.
- 9:00We've helped them out.
- 9:01They've got booking agent deals, and then the booking agent will call me and be like, yo.
- 9:05Look.
- 9:06We can't work with them.
- 9:07They won't contact.
- 9:07You know, there's no communication.
- 9:11And, you know, that that hurts people too because they think, you know, oh, I got a
- 9:15booking agent or a label or whatever.
- 9:17They work on my time now.
- 9:19No.
- 9:21No.
- 9:22No.
- 9:22If anything, it's a strategic partnership.
- 9:25Right?
- 9:25You have to be working so that the agents or the distributors have something to bank on to
- 9:32Yeah.
- 9:32If you think that somebody's gonna come and save you or make your career for you, I don't
- 9:37think that was ever the case, but it maybe looked like it for some of these big national
- 9:42acts of the, you know, eighties and nineties.
- 9:44But that dream's been dead for a long time, man.
- 9:46Yeah.
- 9:48And and some artists, you know, they have the heart, but what it they're it's easier to talk
- 9:53about their dreams on paper than it is to actually put in the work.
- 9:58And we have we have investigation teams.
- 10:01I investigate.
- 10:02We only work as hard as the artist.
- 10:03So if we're disputing
- 10:04and you're like, hey.
- 10:04I wanna be pitched to record labels or whatever, We're going to your pages, going
- 10:08everywhere you are to make sure you're actively working and not just in the club popping
- 10:12bottles.
- 10:16Yeah.
- 10:17I I've discussions I've had with other artists.
- 10:21You know?
- 10:21Like, you you think, you think people aren't watching you.
- 10:25You want everyone to look at your page for your music, but then on that same page, you're out
- 10:29on a Tuesday afternoon sipping tequila on, you know, the margarita Tuesday.
- 10:34Right?
- 10:34Like, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and people aren't gonna wanna work with you.
- 10:39Right?
- 10:39If you're about partying on a Tuesday afternoon, I'm not interested.
- 10:43That that was a breaking point for me where I was like, yeah, bro.
- 10:46We can't work till you're not good for my brand, because that's not what I'm about.
- 10:49Right?
- 10:50Yeah.
- 10:50I'm about to work.
- 10:51I'm about staying on my grind.
- 10:52Look at where this we're filming this on a Saturday.
- 10:54This on a weekend, we are out here working and still grinding.
- 10:58I've been on the computer connecting with people on LinkedIn for three hours already
- 11:01today.
- 11:02Like, it never sleeps.
- 11:03If you don't have that hunger, you're never gonna make it because there's a million people
- 11:07behind you that are gonna want it more.
- 11:10And that's the thing.
- 11:11We have a lot of big, big artists, and I've not went to the club one time to meet any of them
- 11:16artists.
- 11:17I've literally met them through social media, stuff like that.
- 11:20Like, some of the biggest artists we have, I've sent a message on social media before you even
- 11:24jumped on the phone just saying, hey.
- 11:25What's up?
- 11:26And that's how the conversation so why can't, you know, normal artists, if they don't wanna
- 11:30label or a big dish, we should come make, do that themselves instead of being at the Club
- 11:34Papa Bottles.
- 11:35So when we see you at the Club Papa Bottles or whatever house you wanna say it, we're like,
- 11:39oh, he's out networking.
- 11:40You know, we know you're not.
- 11:41That's just the thing.
- 11:42We just say because every time we say something to an artist, they're like, I was networking.
- 11:47With who?
- 11:48Yeah.
- 11:49With who?
- 11:50You know?
- 11:52Your network is your net worth.
- 11:55I mean, we're not the first ones to say that.
- 11:57And if your network is a bunch of people out partying Wednesday through Saturday when they
- 12:03can't afford it anyway, I don't even know who can afford a party anymore or or who really
- 12:10even really enjoys drinking that much.
- 12:12I I think the world has changed.
- 12:14We're about this grind, especially here at the scene projects, music mogul AI, Red Room
- 12:20distribution.
- 12:21Like, if you ain't grinding with us, we ain't interested.
- 12:24You know?
- 12:25Because, ultimately, one one bad apple like that can be bad for the whole brand and can
- 12:30bring down a lot of work that's been done.
- 12:32Yep.
- 12:33So, I mean, you even as an artist, you have to protect everybody on your team because if that
- 12:38person's out, you need to pull them back because that's a representation of themselves.
- 12:42You know?
- 12:42You can't have somebody out doing that or out messing around somewhere doing something stupid
- 12:47if they're part of your team because that's gonna be a reflection of you every time.
- 12:53Curious as to, you know, some of the the nitty gritty, parts of it.
- 12:59Right?
- 12:59When you are, you know, finding an artist, and maybe they already have a booking agent, maybe
- 13:04this is a bigger artist.
- 13:05Right?
- 13:07Is it mostly inside of your existing network of movie people and and video game people that
- 13:15you're kinda going to and saying, hey.
- 13:16I know you got this this this project going on.
- 13:19We think this would be right.
- 13:21Is it very targeted pitching, or is it more kind of cold reach out still for you at this
- 13:27point in your career?
- 13:27I mean, you're in eight, nine years.
- 13:29So
- 13:30Yeah.
- 13:30So we still have our normal contacts, but every day, there's new video game developers.
- 13:35I just met a kid.
- 13:36Actually, he's probably 22 years old.
- 13:38He just created a new app on his for your phone.
- 13:41And so even little things like that.
- 13:43And then we have big video games who every time they change the developer, we have to repitch
- 13:48the music.
- 13:49You know?
- 13:50So kinda puts a damper in things.
- 13:52But, yeah, some we still do cold calling.
- 13:54We still do everything because no matter how many people you know, there's always other
- 13:58people you have not met yet.
- 14:00Yeah.
- 14:01Working with EA doesn't mean that you're working with the same people every time.
- 14:05Every new video game has its own crew.
- 14:08Every iteration of a new game has its own crew and new people rolling over, and and I'm sure
- 14:14the turnover at a lot of these places is fairly high as well.
- 14:18Oh, it is very high.
- 14:20So the yeah.
- 14:20There's a big famous game coming out, next December.
- 14:23I can't really mention the name.
- 14:24Obviously, a lot of people know about it.
- 14:25But we've had to pitch that video game probably eight, nine times.
- 14:30I'm not joking.
- 14:31Like, I'm just so sick of the game.
- 14:32When it comes out, I'm not even gonna get it.
- 14:38Oh, that's funny.
- 14:40That sounds is totally, you
- 14:41know world.
- 14:42Yeah.
- 14:43We have a lot of executives reached out to us like, hey.
- 14:45We're looking for music like this.
- 14:47Do you have something like this?
- 14:48And we actually have, an artist with us who he's growing.
- 14:52He's a one man band.
- 14:54And every time I go to him for a video game or movie, I'm like, hey.
- 14:56I need a song this.
- 14:57He creates it, and he's a rock artist.
- 15:00So he'll get on the drums, guitar, bass, vocals, everything, create it himself, and then
- 15:05stuff like that.
- 15:05So, like, I know his heart is where it's supposed to be.
- 15:09He's an artist.
- 15:10Knowing your niche.
- 15:11If you got those kind of skills, right, and you're not necessarily you're creating for you
- 15:16know, not necessarily for the paycheck, but you can bend your will at that to say, okay.
- 15:21Cool.
- 15:21Like, send me let me see a clip.
- 15:23Right?
- 15:24Like, what's the game like?
- 15:25What are we looking for?
- 15:26You know?
- 15:26Give me some give me some parameters to work in, and I'll go create.
- 15:30That's a different kind of human being.
- 15:32Right?
- 15:32Like, my creation is all, like, emotional inspiration.
- 15:36Right?
- 15:36And then I, go write a song about it.
- 15:37It's not, you know, being able to go, okay.
- 15:40You want a rock song?
- 15:41Maybe it's in, like, we need it to be between this kind of meter.
- 15:45Right?
- 15:45We need to be in this.
- 15:46It needs to be in this vein.
- 15:47This is what they're looking for.
- 15:49We don't have that yet.
- 15:50Go make it.
- 15:51Yeah.
- 15:52So that's what I'm talking about.
- 15:53His name is Jesse Stewart, and y'all should check him out if you have it.
- 15:57He don't have a whole lot of followers right now, but he's wanting to build.
- 15:59And no like I said, no matter where when I go to him like, we're on the phone constantly,
- 16:04usually a couple times a week, discussing what they're looking for, and he's like, hey.
- 16:08You can use it.
- 16:09You can use it.
- 16:09If you can't, you can't.
- 16:11But he makes sure every single time there's something something to be pitched, he has a
- 16:15song that can go in that, you know, section to pitch.
- 16:19And if they choose, they choose it.
- 16:20If they don't, they don't.
- 16:21But at least he had something.
- 16:22Yeah.
- 16:23That guy's a gold mine for you because when he does start hitting and does get a name for
- 16:27himself, everybody's gonna want, oh, we want Jesse.
- 16:30Right?
- 16:30We want Jesse.
- 16:31Well, can Jesse do this?
- 16:32Can Jesse do that?
- 16:33So it's all about, like, building up.
- 16:35And and this whole time of his creation, even if you don't use it for that game or that
- 16:40movie, it may be used later.
- 16:42So you're just pumping up this catalog full of, like, that's a great relationship for you.
- 16:47I got a couple guys I wanna introduce you to that can
- 16:51Yeah.
- 16:51Jesse's an amazing guy, and, you know, I wish every artist had that heart, but sadly, it's
- 16:56not true.
- 16:56But a lot of artists do have the same heart.
- 16:58It's just different type of genre.
- 16:59Like, he does
- 16:59a gotta be able to do it too.
- 17:01Right?
- 17:01You have to be kinda multi instrumentalist and can create at a high level.
- 17:05You gotta be able to probably do it at home very cheap and efficiently to be able to do
- 17:10that.
- 17:10So it takes a special kind of artist to be able to accomplish that.
- 17:14And, Jesse, he hasn't done this whole song done in probably an hour every time.
- 17:18My old man.
- 17:19He he stops waiting.
- 17:21A year to do a five song EP, Lee.
- 17:25And we just released Jesse's new song called mom.
- 17:28It's sadly about his mom passing away, but the song is amazing.
- 17:32It's a rock song.
- 17:33It's not slow like you'd think.
- 17:35I encourage everyone to go listen to it.
- 17:39Yeah.
- 17:39Well and you're gonna get me his information because we wanna have him on the show.
- 17:42I would love to get his kind of version of this story too, right, of that creation and what it
- 17:48means.
- 17:48Well, in knowing that each one, any one song could be a little payday, but because of that
- 17:54game, it could become massive or that movie or you know what I mean?
- 17:57Like, think of My Heart Will Go On.
- 17:59Right?
- 18:00Like, Celine Dion was pretty big already.
- 18:02That song made her an international superstar, and I don't know if you get the song without
- 18:08the movie.
- 18:09Right?
- 18:09Like, I I don't know how that story necessarily came about, but it doesn't become big if the
- 18:14movie isn't a global like, if the movie was in some b rate thing, it's not the same thing.
- 18:19Yeah.
- 18:19We have songs that are big in movies but are not big on Spotify, but they're selling really
- 18:23well in the movies, if that makes sense.
- 18:26Yeah.
- 18:27And and some are just like, why is that?
- 18:28I'm not sure.
- 18:29Last part, I can't really, you know, talk about.
- 18:32I have no idea.
- 18:33So what kind of tech are you working with?
- 18:36You know, do you have software that you kinda plug into that you take these songs that kinda
- 18:40build out the metadata or work inside of those?
- 18:43I I know there's some, sites like Disco and some other things.
- 18:46Sync Lodge is another one out there for global sync licensing and collection of royalties.
- 18:52I actually know Lionel Lodge.
- 18:54I've gotten to have a couple meetings with him lately.
- 18:55So shout out to Lionel.
- 18:57He's an amazing individual with a really huge software and some great things coming down the
- 19:01line.
- 19:01But for a guy like you, those things have to be pivotal in the actual work of getting these
- 19:07songs out there or finding more work.
- 19:09They are.
- 19:10And this is what people don't realize too.
- 19:12You know, sadly, every company has, you know, that one bad apple, and we track everything.
- 19:19So if we say we pitched to something, we have the validation of proof that we did it.
- 19:24You know?
- 19:25And and that's the thing is always validating.
- 19:27You know what?
- 19:27We don't like word-of-mouth.
- 19:29So if you, you know, you want something to pitch to a label, I'm a make sure you see a
- 19:33document of some sort that is showing that it's at least sent over there.
- 19:38Yeah.
- 19:39You're like, yeah.
- 19:39Talk to them.
- 19:40Yeah.
- 19:41Yeah.
- 19:41See, I don't I I I just can't
- 19:42my work for it.
- 19:44Right.
- 19:45Yeah.
- 19:47So but, yeah, that's kinda how we break everything down.
- 19:49And, hopefully, you know, we have a lot of artists now, but, I'm always wanting more.
- 19:54Obviously, that's just me.
- 19:55Yeah.
- 19:56Well and as long as you're able to keep them pitching, keep them working, and keep making
- 20:01money, like, there is really no level to to what you can do because the tech's only gonna
- 20:06get better, man.
- 20:07AI's here, brother.
- 20:08It's gotta make you even that much more efficient at what you're doing, being able to
- 20:12open up and work with more artists.
- 20:13Now you're not able to maybe have that personal relationship with 10,000 artists, but you can
- 20:18be working for that many and and trying to keep up and, you know, forming some kind of social
- 20:23media group or something to put them in to connect one to many.
- 20:26But, yeah, it's gotta be the world seems to be probably opening up for you now with AI, with
- 20:31the tech platforms, like a music mogul AI and things that are coming around that are going to
- 20:36open up more doors to where you don't necessarily have to communicate with as many
- 20:40individual companies.
- 20:42You can kinda go to one source and be connected to them.
- 20:46Well, this is the thing too.
- 20:47Communication is a big part.
- 20:49Other distros, you send an email, you don't hear back for two days.
- 20:52Right?
- 20:53Over here, every single artist that's ever asked me for my phone number, I've given given
- 20:57it to them because I appreciate them being with us.
- 21:00So if they need to call me, just ask me a question.
- 21:02They and we have a lot over thousands.
- 21:04But anytime one of them artists have ever asked me, here you go.
- 21:08If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be in the position I am.
- 21:12Right.
- 21:12You might not be calling them every day and saying what's up and checking on them.
- 21:16You shouldn't have to.
- 21:17You should assume they're working, but you're available to these artists when they need you
- 21:21and have a question.
- 21:22Yep.
- 21:23They can email me or call, text, anything, anytime they want.
- 21:26And like like I said, we have thousands.
- 21:28But, I mean, not all have my numbers, they're not all asked, but once you absolutely get it.
- 21:33Yeah.
- 21:33Well, don't show them this episode.
- 21:35Everybody's gonna watch your number now, Lee.
- 21:36Hey.
- 21:37It's it's totally fine, honestly.
- 21:38Like, I just appreciate so many artists that if all 10,000 had it, it wouldn't bother me.
- 21:43No.
- 21:44Well and and with a roster that big, you're bound to have some winners.
- 21:47Right?
- 21:48You're you're bound every like, every song has a place.
- 21:50And, really, that's what the distribution is is to find that place for that song.
- 21:56And not all of them are going to be massive paydays.
- 21:58Right?
- 21:59I mean, I know sync some sync can go upwards of tens of thousands of dollars.
- 22:03Most of them are probably much lower.
- 22:05What would you say, like, the average sync placement is for you?
- 22:09Is it a few thousand dollars?
- 22:11Is it a lit maybe a little bit more than that, or is it, you know, a a few $100?
- 22:16I don't feel bad about my cats jumping on screen with me now.
- 22:20It it so it's it varies, actually.
- 22:22Good like, an amateur artist coming into the game, about 10,000 finder fee for them.
- 22:29That's not terrible.
- 22:31For a for a newer artist that just had a song that that worked for the moment, man, that's
- 22:37freaking payday.
- 22:37Right?
- 22:38Like, maybe it's it's not you're not quitting your day job yet, but a few of those a year
- 22:44totally changes the trajectory of an artist's career.
- 22:47And it's very easy to actually achieve it.
- 22:50So you know?
- 22:51And I don't wanna say just 10.
- 22:52It's usually between ten and twenty is what the average is now is what the artists are getting
- 22:58per you know and that's not including back end royalties and all that stuff.
- 23:03That's just to place your song in the movie.
- 23:05That's crazy, man.
- 23:07People are losing out on so much money.
- 23:08All these artists I'm glad we talked today, Lee.
- 23:10This episode's gonna be going out real soon.
- 23:13I wanna include you on some of our creator conferences.
- 23:15We're gonna be going throughout the Midwest.
- 23:17Maybe you can come down and see us in Nashville in March, and we're gonna do a conference and
- 23:21have some people.
- 23:22I think it'd be invaluable for you connecting with more artists, but also for us being able
- 23:26to educate artists and build out this network of what we're doing and growing this community.
- 23:31Like I kinda said, the the the same projects as the Hoover.
- 23:34Right?
- 23:34Sucking up all these artists, right, bringing them all into this ecosystem so that each one
- 23:39of them can kinda find their home and to get on that merry-go-round and wherever you fall off
- 23:44is probably where you were meant to be.
- 23:46Mhmm.
- 23:47Yep.
- 23:47Absolutely.
- 23:48And every day, we're working it.
- 23:51Every hour I'm awake, I'm usually working.
- 23:55Usually know anything else, brother.
- 23:57That's right.
- 23:58Yeah.
- 23:59So if any of us have a question, what's Lee doing?
- 24:01Oh, trust me.
- 24:02Lee's on the computer or Lee's in a meeting or Lee.
- 24:05Yeah, man.
- 24:06We all got one of these to walk around with too, bro.
- 24:08Like, we're always available.
- 24:09I have to force myself to, like, okay.
- 24:11I am with the wife and kids.
- 24:12Right?
- 24:13Like Yeah.
- 24:14Exactly.
- 24:14And even then, I'm, thinking about it.
- 24:16Like, I pick it up three times in that time, and I'm like, no.
- 24:19Right.
- 24:19I'm taking the best hour to spend with the family.
- 24:24Yeah.
- 24:25No.
- 24:25It is sometimes it does get you know, kinda sucks sometimes when you're with your kids
- 24:30because I'm single, but I have two kids.
- 24:32My son's 20 or almost 20, and my daughter's 14, and her would be 15.
- 24:36So and
- 24:37She don't wanna hang out with you anyway.
- 24:38Yeah.
- 24:40She's just that age where friends are everything.
- 24:44You know?
- 24:44So
- 24:46Yeah.
- 24:46Well, Lee, why don't you tell everybody where they can, where they can find you, where they
- 24:50can get into, Red Room Distribution, get some of these artists on a call with you and
- 24:54pitching their music and, you know, putting you to work.
- 24:58And then I I hope you can stick around for a few minutes after.
- 25:00You know what?
- 25:01I I'd like to take advantage of the time I have with you, play a couple of my songs for you,
- 25:04and see what you think.
- 25:05Absolutely.
- 25:06We can definitely do that.
- 25:08So, you can find me at redroomdistro.com, or you can go to any social media and type in at
- 25:14Red Room Distro from, you know, LinkedIn to Instagram, everywhere.
- 25:19Facebook at Red Room Distro.
- 25:22Yeah.
- 25:23Well, we're gonna connect with you everywhere and be sharing your stuff out there with the
- 25:26world as well.
- 25:27And, man, really appreciate you taking some time for me on a weekend.
- 25:30Appreciate it.
- 25:31For a bit, talk some music.
- 25:33And, yeah, thank you, Lee, for being part of the scene.
- 25:36Absolutely.
