  Welcome back to Tabernacle talk. I am excited for today's episode
• 0:20
  in Isaiah 8. It is just a fun little portion
• 0:25
  of scripture and hopefully you'll you'll see with me as we
• 0:30
  walk through together. Isaiah chapter 8 and verse #1.
• 0:34
  So last episode we heard the southern Kingdom of Judah is
• 0:40
  being attacked by the northern Kingdom of Israel and its
• 0:45
  neighbor to the north, Aram. Also, what we would know today
• 0:49
  as Syria, that these two nations have joined forces together to
• 0:53
  attack Judah. God has said they will not
• 0:57
  succeed. We heard the prophecy of
• 0:59
  Emmanuel that there would be a child that was conceived, and
• 1:03
  before the child could tell the difference between good and bad,
• 1:07
  that these two nations would no longer be in the picture, that
• 1:12
  they would not bother Judah anymore.
• 1:14
  And within 65 years the northern Kingdom of Israel would actually
• 1:20
  cease to exist at all. So we read this in Isaiah
• 1:24
  chapter 8 and verse #1 Then you always said to me, take a large
• 1:28
  piece of parchment and write on it with an ordinary pen.
• 1:32
  Maher, shallow hash bass. OK Maher, shallow hash bass.
• 1:39
  And that is a word that means, what's a series of words that
• 1:43
  means speeding to the plunder, hurrying to the spoil, or if you
• 1:49
  will, racing to the goodies, if you will.
• 1:53
  This is that word. So that's a weird start.
• 1:58
  What are we going to do with this name?
• 2:00
  Rushing to the spoiler, speeding to the plunder?
• 2:05
  God says I have appointed trustworthy witnesses, the
• 2:09
  priest Uriah and Zechariah, son of Jebarekaiah.
• 2:14
  Jebarekaiah he says in verse #3 All right, God wanted me to
• 2:20
  write down this name, Mahershal Hashbaz.
• 2:22
  And he has these two, this priest named Uriah and this
• 2:27
  other guy that are trustworthy witnesses that they have seen
• 2:30
  that I wrote down on this of paper, this thing verse #3 I was
• 2:36
  then intimate with the prophetess who I mentioned last
• 2:40
  time in, in Isaiah 7, his wife. And she conceived and gave birth
• 2:45
  to a son. Just like we read in Isaiah 714,
• 2:50
  The virgin will conceive and have a son.
• 2:53
  Now chapter 8 and verse #3 she conceived and gave birth to a
• 2:57
  son. He always said to me, name him
• 3:00
  Mar shall Hash Bass. Name the kid here.
• 3:05
  It's the longest name in the Old Testament and in the Bible Name
• 3:09
  him speeding to the plunder, hurrying to the spoil, he says,
• 3:14
  For before the boy knows how to call father or mother.
• 3:18
  So at about, you know, year to two years, the wealth of
• 3:22
  Damascus and the spoils of Samaria will be carried off to
• 3:27
  the king of Assyria. So here what God had prophesied
• 3:31
  in Isaiah 7. Now it's hastening on.
• 3:34
  Now it is coming quicker. Verse #5 S just so we are
• 3:41
  connected here with what's happening.
• 3:42
  Verses one through 4, God says I have this name picked out for
• 3:49
  this kid that is again a prophecy of my promises coming
• 3:54
  true of protecting the southern Kingdom of Judah, that though
• 3:58
  they are still deeply imperfect, they are at least walking with
• 4:01
  me more than the totally idolatrous northern nation of
• 4:06
  Israel. And so I'm going to protect
• 4:08
  Judah against Israel. And part of this prophecy, this
• 4:13
  promise is the name of this kid. But so that no one thinks that
• 4:18
  this is a after the fact prophecy, I have these two guys,
• 4:25
  Uriah and Jaberakaya, and they have seen Isaiah write down this
• 4:32
  name. And so they know this is before
• 4:34
  the fact because this is going to come very quickly within a
• 4:38
  year or two. And so these two trustworthy
• 4:40
  guys will be able to tell people, yes, Isaiah is a true
• 4:43
  prophet, that he said this was going to happen.
• 4:46
  He wrote down the name. And so this is what actually
• 4:49
  happened. Verse #5 You always spoke to me
• 4:52
  again, because these people rejected the slowly flowing
• 4:56
  water of Shaloa and rejoiced with resin in the son of
• 4:59
  Rimalia. The Lord will certainly bring
• 5:01
  against them the mighty rushing water of the Euphrates River,
• 5:06
  the king of Assyria and all his glory.
• 5:09
  It will overflow its channels and spill over all its banks.
• 5:14
  It will pour into Judah, flood over it and sweep through,
• 5:18
  reaching up to your neck, and it's flooded banks will fill
• 5:21
  your entire land. Emmanuel.
• 5:24
  So here it is. There's going to come this giant
• 5:28
  army from Assyria and it is overflowing everything.
• 5:35
  During that time period, Assyria would destroy some of Egypt.
• 5:40
  It would destroy Syria and Israel and it would almost
• 5:46
  destroy the southern Kingdom of Judah.
• 5:49
  We will read about that. I think that portion of Isaiah
• 5:53
  is in the like 35 to 39 chapter range, and you can also read
• 6:01
  about that in Second Kings. And then it's probably also in
• 6:04
  Second Chronicles where Assyria almost destroys Judah as well,
• 6:12
  but God intervenes and saves them.
• 6:15
  Verse number 90. I also think it's to be noted
• 6:18
  here, verse #8 he says, and it's flooded banks will fill your
• 6:22
  entire land, Emmanuel. So here I truly believe from
• 6:28
  Scripture, like these two chapters right next to each
• 6:32
  other, Mahershala Hashbaz is Emmanuel, that God is still with
• 6:37
  Judah even despite their sin and their failure.
• 6:42
  And if you will, you know, I, I think both of these names,
• 6:46
  Emmanuel and Mahershala Hashbaz are functioning as if you will
• 6:50
  nicknames or titles, not necessarily like, hey,
• 6:54
  Mahershala Hashbaz, come clean up your room.
• 6:57
  I don't think that's what's happening there.
• 6:59
  So all of these together say this is the immediate prophecy.
• 7:04
  And if you have any more questions about that, you can go
• 7:07
  back and look at the episode from last time.

  Verse #9 Band together peoples and be broken.
• 7:14
  Pay attention all you distant lands.
• 7:16
  Prepare for war and be broken. Prepare for war and be broken.
• 7:20
  He says you are not going to succeed when God has decreed
• 7:25
  your doom. Verse #10 Devise a plan.
• 7:28
  It will fail. Make a prediction.
• 7:30
  It will not happen. For God is with us, God with us,
• 7:35
  Emmanuel, God is with us. And so it doesn't matter what
• 7:39
  nations come against Judah. It doesn't matter what nations
• 7:44
  try and stand up against Assyria during this time period.
• 7:48
  They are going to fail. Verse #11 For this is what you
• 7:52
  always said to me with great power, to keep me from going the
• 7:56
  way of this people. Isaiah needed instruction from
• 8:00
  God so that he didn't just follow the crowd into sin or
• 8:04
  unbelief, as we're going to see here in one second.
• 8:06
  Verse #12 Do not call everything a conspiracy that these people
• 8:12
  say is a conspiracy. Do not fear what they fear.
• 8:15
  Do not be terrified. You are to regard only Yahweh of
• 8:20
  heaven's armies as holy. Only He should be feared.
• 8:25
  Only He should be held in awe. So because I believe I've read a
• 8:33
  time or two someone deeply misunderstand verse #12 when God
• 8:39
  tells Isaiah, don't call everything a conspiracy that
• 8:42
  these people say is a conspiracy is not what we would mean today
• 8:49
  by don't call something a conspiracy When we say that.
• 8:57
  Like when we would say, oh, this is, you know, my conspiracy
• 9:00
  theory is blink, blink, blink, lizard people on the moon.
• 9:06
  That doesn't actually exist because it's made of cheese.
• 9:11
  And you know, I, I, I could have all these things together.
• 9:15
  And so people, I've seen people take this verse to say, no, no,
• 9:20
  it's not a conspiracy. It's real.
• 9:23
  A conspiracy is people conspiring together to do
• 9:29
  something. Or here, as Israel and Judah
• 9:34
  would very often reject what God's prophets were saying,
• 9:42
  claiming that Isaiah or Jeremiah or Ezekiel or whoever was in
• 9:49
  cahoots to stop the greatness of Judah or Israel.
• 9:57
  And so the temptation for them was no, no, no, All of these
• 10:02
  people are just trying to stop us from making a treaty with
• 10:07
  Assyria and becoming great, being safe as a result, or
• 10:13
  making business deals and trade deals with Egypt.
• 10:19
  And Jeremiah is telling us that we can't do this.
• 10:22
  And it's just because he is disloyal to our nation.
• 10:27
  He's not, if you will, he's not patriotic enough.
• 10:30
  And so God tells Isaiah don't, don't call the things a
• 10:34
  conspiring together, a conspiracy that these people
• 10:37
  call conspiracies. They're afraid of Israel and
• 10:42
  Syria. They are afraid of Assyria or of
• 10:46
  Egypt or eventually of Babylon. He says.
• 10:48
  They're scared of all of these people.
• 10:50
  And so they keep trying to band together with others or they are
• 10:56
  suspicious of those following God's command not to link up up
• 11:00
  with the ungodly nations. And so he says, don't follow
• 11:05
  that path. Don't fear the other nations.
• 11:09
  Fear me. Be in awe of me.
• 11:12
  I am the one that people actually need to care about the
• 11:16
  opinion of. They should care about God and
• 11:20
  obeying and following and being on His side.
• 11:22
  Not being on Assyria or Babylon's side says do not be
• 11:27
  terrified. I think this has wonderful
• 11:30
  direct application to us today. So many people live their lives
• 11:36
  in constant fear and anger, panic of what could be because
• 11:42
  they spend so much time on social media and paying
• 11:45
  attention to different news outlets that their only purpose
• 11:49
  is to stoke fear and rage in you.
• 11:52
  That does not mean that everything that they do or say
• 11:56
  is correct or incorrect, but their purpose is to make you
• 12:01
  fearful or angry. So whether that's Fox News,
• 12:05
  whether it's One America News Network, Newsmax, whether it's
• 12:10
  CNN, whether it's, you know, BBC, whatever it is, don't,
• 12:17
  don't fear what they tell you to fear.
• 12:20
  Fear God. God is the one that will protect
• 12:23
  you. God is the one that raises up
• 12:26
  nations or destroys nations. God is the one that sets up
• 12:30
  rulers and tears down rulers. Our concern should not be about
• 12:36
  whatever the Fox News anchor or the ABC anchor wants us to be
• 12:43
  like, fearful and concerned about for whatever we can
• 12:47
  actually do in our love for God, our love for neighbor, whatever
• 12:53
  we might responsibly do, even during like election seasons and
• 12:58
  voting. Whatever we would do in
• 13:00
  advocating for biblical values and mindsets like that is what
• 13:06
  we need to be focusing on, not how freaked out can I be about
• 13:12
  some people group that may or may not be disenfranchising me.
• 13:17
  Because at the end of the day, none of us can overthrow and
• 13:21
  none of us should overthrow a nation, which on any side of the
• 13:26
  spectrum is what I consistently see in here.
• 13:29
  It's listen, unless you side with us against Trump and the
• 13:34
  GOP and MAGA and all of that, then our nation will be an
• 13:39
  authoritarian in like fascist regime within three or four
• 13:44
  years. Or on the flip side, oh man, you
• 13:46
  have to be with us against the radical left because we are all
• 13:52
  going to be gay Sharia law, following Muslims with
• 13:59
  transgender children. That rhetoric, I promise you, is
• 14:06
  intended to stoke fear and outrage within your soul so that
• 14:13
  you will hate your neighbor, not love your neighbor as yourself.
• 14:18
  Now, in every circumstance of life, will we find flaws and
• 14:23
  failures, sins, sexual immorality, many times racism?
• 14:30
  Will will we find all sorts of evil as we look at our political
• 14:34
  parties, as we look at our nation?
• 14:36
  Yes, because we live in our fallen world.
• 14:39
  But the answer, my friends, is not whatever the political
• 14:45
  pundits want you to do. That is not the answer.
• 14:49
  They are telling you that that is the answer, that a vote for
• 14:53
  whoever your preferred person is that will guarantee a good
• 14:58
  future and financial prosperity and the the best possible
• 15:03
  society. They are lying.
• 15:05
  There is only one way towards a good life and it does not come
• 15:11
  through what others do or don't do.
• 15:13
  It comes through your relationship with God.
• 15:16
  So can I encourage you in these words of Isaiah 812 and 13?
• 15:21
  Don't call everything a conspiracy a plot that other
• 15:26
  people are saying is a plot. Do not fear what they fear.
• 15:31
  Do not be terrified. You are to regard only Yahweh of
• 15:36
  Heaven's armies as holy. Only He should be feared.
• 15:40
  Only He should be held in awe. I want to encourage you.
• 15:45
  It does not mean that politics are unimportant.
• 15:48
  Anyone that follows me on any of like my Facebook channels knows
• 15:53
  that I firmly believe in right, in a rule of law, in being able
• 15:59
  to exercise our, you know, right to vote, all of that stuff.
• 16:06
  I have firm beliefs in my politics, but the answer for our
• 16:13
  nation and the answer for my soul is never a person that's
• 16:19
  running for office or a bill or anything like that.
• 16:23
  It is only my relationship with God that makes the difference.
• 16:28
  And I want to encourage you with that as well.
• 16:30
  Verse #14 You guys got me excited this time.
• 16:34
  Verse #14 He will be a sanctuary, but for the two
• 16:39
  houses of Israel. He'll be a stone to stumble over
• 16:42
  and a rock to trip over, and a trap and a snare to the
• 16:45
  inhabitants of Jerusalem. Many will stumble over these.
• 16:49
  They will not listen or fear God.
• 16:52
  They will fear the other nations.
• 16:55
  He says many will stumble over these.
• 16:57
  They will fall and be broken. They'll be sneered and captured.
• 17:00
  So he tells Isaiah, bind up the testimony.
• 17:03
  Seal up the instruction among my disciples.
• 17:07
  He goes, I want you to write this stuff down.
• 17:09
  We would even as we look at the totality of the scroll of
• 17:14
  Isaiah. Isaiah wrote some things, passed
• 17:19
  it down to his disciples. They did some editing work.
• 17:23
  Even as we've read through, as it says like Isaiah said, blah
• 17:27
  blah blah shows there are later works and editing that is done
• 17:33
  by his disciples. Verse #17 I will wait for Yahweh
• 17:38
  who is hiding his face from the House of Jacob.
• 17:41
  I will wait for him. He says here I am with the
• 17:44
  children Yahweh has given me to be.
• 17:46
  Signs and wonders in Israel from Yahweh of Heaven's armies who
• 17:51
  dwells on Mount Zion like God. I'm here.
• 17:54
  I'm here with Shira Joshab and Mahershal Hashbaz, also known as
• 17:58
  Emmanuel. I'm I'm right here, God, and I'm
• 18:01
  waiting for the remnant to return.
• 18:04
  I see all of the craziness that's going on in my world, but
• 18:08
  I am waiting for you. Verse #19 God says when they say
• 18:13
  to you inquire of the mediums and the spiritists who chirp and
• 18:17
  mutter, shouldn't the people inquire of their God?
• 18:22
  Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?
• 18:25
  He goes they they are practicing necromancy.
• 18:28
  They're trying to get answers from beyond the grave or answers
• 18:31
  from other spiritual beings and not from Yahweh.
• 18:34
  He says if you have a question, ask Yahweh.
• 18:37
  He says verse 20 go to God's instruction and testimony.
• 18:41
  This is the word of God. If they do not speak according
• 18:44
  to this word, there will be no dawn for them.
• 18:47
  Life only comes through the Word of God.
• 18:50
  Verse 21, they will wander through the land dejected and
• 18:53
  hungry. When they're famished, they'll
• 18:55
  become enraged and looking upward will curse their king and
• 18:58
  their God. They will look toward the earth
• 19:00
  and see only distress, darkness, and the gloom of affliction, and
• 19:05
  they will be driven into thick darkness.
• 19:08
  And truthfully, that is the way that many people today in our
• 19:12
  world live, that as they have rejected looking to God for
• 19:16
  answers and they've been looking at people or political parties
• 19:20
  or armies or money or family or hobbies, pleasures, they find
• 19:26
  that all it brings is this darkness, this gloom.
• 19:30
  And the answer is not found in anything other than the Lord in
• 19:35
  His word. Turn to Him and you can find
• 19:38
  grace to help in time of need. Thanks for tuning in today.
