- 0:34Speaker 2: Plus you've got great guests. Go ahead, what you got.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Wait a second, Wait a second. You were in Montreal
- 0:40Speaker 3: and you did not send me a text. You did
- 0:43Speaker 3: not send me anything, and I have to sit and
- 0:47Speaker 3: see your escapades and you don't cut that's my city.
- 0:50Speaker 3: You're coming to my city now. One. I have to
- 0:54Speaker 3: watch you on Amazon Prime.
- 0:56Speaker 2: You are watching the game. You have better things to do.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Come on.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I was watching that game and I see you sitting
- 1:00Speaker 3: there all cozy it up in the Sintra bell having
- 1:04Speaker 3: some Lizzies and was Hi irate sitting in my bed
- 1:08Speaker 3: eating Cheetos, being.
- 1:09Speaker 2: The cold house mother.
- 1:11Speaker 1: That's your spot, man, Come on, should have gotten old
- 1:14Speaker 1: Bunchreal to speakeasy.
- 1:16Speaker 3: My brother owns four speakeasies there Cold Room, Bizoobi Zoo,
- 1:19Speaker 3: al Picano. He owns Barbello all all within walking distance
- 1:24Speaker 3: in a stone throw near the Bell Center. And you
- 1:27Speaker 3: son of a bitch.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Our dear friend Jad Limbert is a great an HL network.
- 1:32Speaker 1: He was telling me gauys no, dude, ursok me up,
- 1:33Speaker 1: I go come on oh, because my wife and I
- 1:35Speaker 1: went to Old Montreal and this brother was amazing because
- 1:37Speaker 1: we actually went to the front like, hey, JD, we've
- 1:39Speaker 1: been expecting you. It's one thing to be like I
- 1:41Speaker 1: think of it, because we've been expecting you. Like they
- 1:43Speaker 1: rolled out the red carpet. It was like an ice
- 1:45Speaker 1: white shot moment. What is the word Fidelio? And they
- 1:47Speaker 1: just let him into a.
- 1:50Speaker 3: That part, that part hey go ahead, No, no, you
- 1:55Speaker 3: keep going. Sorry I don't but I heard.
- 1:58Speaker 1: We'll get to the goofy Montreal in just a second.
- 2:00Speaker 1: We do want to offer, obviously, our thoughts and prayers
- 2:02Speaker 1: right now. What's happening with the wildfires other California. Our
- 2:05Speaker 1: deal producer tal Ponchewski has been setting his pictures of
- 2:07Speaker 1: what it looks like it looks apocalyptic and the Flames
- 2:10Speaker 1: Kings game which was still to take place tonight Wednesday,
- 2:13Speaker 1: has been postponed.
- 2:14Speaker 3: You know, our hearts break for everybody in the LA area,
- 2:17Speaker 3: and our condolences and sympathies, I mean, all jokes aside,
- 2:20Speaker 3: it's this stuff's this stuff's scary and sad, and hopefully's everybody.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Hopefully everybody is okay and comes out on the other
- 2:28Speaker 3: side at least safe in having their health.
- 2:33Speaker 1: On that note, so I land on Sunday and it's
- 2:35Speaker 1: I've been ten for ten so far in flights. I've
- 2:37Speaker 1: had no issues as far as traveling Amazon Prime, and
- 2:39Speaker 1: I said, okay. As the calendar terres January. Here we
- 2:41Speaker 1: go two hour delay to get into Montreal. So I'm
- 2:44Speaker 1: stuck at the Newark airport. But I'm an Eagles fan.
- 2:46Speaker 1: I got to watch a meaningless Eagles Giants game as
- 2:48Speaker 1: we beat the Giants just great, fourteen to three, already
- 2:50Speaker 1: locked in the number two seeds. Eagles Packers talk next week,
- 2:52Speaker 1: hoping we're going to win. Anyways, my cousin lives in Montreal.
- 2:56Speaker 1: He married a girl there, so he said, I'll pick
- 2:58Speaker 1: you up from the airport. I said, Gray, So where
- 2:59Speaker 1: do you live? The Saint Lazare I said, what's that
- 3:01Speaker 1: because it's like because it's it's an anglophone area of Montreal. Okay, yeah, no,
- 3:05Speaker 1: you know where this is going. So he picks me
- 3:07Speaker 1: up and I was like, I wan, am I gonna
- 3:08Speaker 1: ho tell first? He's like, nah, because it's like forty minutes,
- 3:10Speaker 1: we'll go to stand let's art, but home cook me out.
- 3:12Speaker 2: My mom's in town. Like whatever. I went, great, it's
- 3:13Speaker 2: my cousin. I'm gonna go hang out. So it's a
- 3:15Speaker 2: good thirty five minute trek.
- 3:17Speaker 1: And as we're driving up, I see this beautiful enclave
- 3:19Speaker 1: and I go, I wonder if that's his house. And
- 3:20Speaker 1: it's gigantic, like this guy's twenty six years old, he
- 3:24Speaker 1: has two kids four and two, got married young, clearly
- 3:27Speaker 1: successful in real estate mansion.
- 3:29Speaker 2: I'm walking around his house, Jay, like, how big they?
- 3:31Speaker 2: How are your square feed? Is this house? Your house
- 3:32Speaker 2: is bigger than mine?
- 3:33Speaker 1: I have a pretty good house he said, No, I
- 3:34Speaker 1: mean I think it's around seven I go, I think
- 3:36Speaker 1: it's a seven thousand square feet why it's stainless art mansion.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So anyways, we have a great dinner. His wife' saw
- 3:42Speaker 1: some kids are great. Everyone has a great time around tennis.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm missing the Golden Globes for this. You know,
- 3:46Speaker 1: can take me back to the hotel. We'd like to
- 3:47Speaker 1: see a Wins best picture, if you don't mind. He's
- 3:49Speaker 1: a gr no problem. As we're driving, he goes, I
- 3:51Speaker 1: just gotta make a quick stop. Like okay again.
- 3:52Speaker 2: He's a landlord. He runs certain buildings. He disappears at
- 3:55Speaker 2: ten thirty. I don't know what area of bunch.
- 3:57Speaker 1: While we're in just sitting in his car, it's obviously freezing.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He comes back half an hour later with an envelope
- 4:03Speaker 1: filled with cash.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I said, when you got here? And I said, He's like, oh,
- 4:06Speaker 2: it's just I just had to pick up some money.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I go, listen, you're twenty six years old, you live
- 4:11Speaker 1: in a gigantic.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Mansion in Saint Lazare.
- 4:13Speaker 1: You just made a drop Sunday at ten thirty, and
- 4:16Speaker 1: you have a gigantic water cat. It's gonna be four thousand,
- 4:19Speaker 1: five thousand dollars. If I didn't know you better, you're
- 4:20Speaker 1: a drug dealer. You are absolutely dealing drugs, and I
- 4:23Speaker 1: don't pass judgment. This is a beautiful home you have.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I don't know how things are done in Montreal, I say,
- 4:27Speaker 1: and the guy you spoke to, his name is Julio.
- 4:28Speaker 1: He's like, yeah, I guess listen, there's a lot of
- 4:30Speaker 1: mob ties here Montreal. Like, well, i'll confirm that with
- 4:32Speaker 1: Demerz and Tel. But I mean I don't like cast dispersions.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Here, but I think people in Montreal a little bit
- 4:38Speaker 2: of money lunering going on.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I'll be honest. I hope they don't edit this out
- 4:42Speaker 3: because the RCMP will have a book opened on the
- 4:45Speaker 3: sky in about two minutes from this airs, So please
- 4:48Speaker 3: do not edit this out because yeah, there's a ton
- 4:51Speaker 3: I don't want to say what mob is there, but yes,
- 4:53Speaker 3: my brother's in the industry. There is a lot there.
- 4:56Speaker 3: And you know, again, it's one of those things you
- 4:59Speaker 3: just kind of.
- 4:59Speaker 1: There's a five percent tax you gonna pay, Yeah, you
- 5:01Speaker 1: go about your business. It wasn't quite like Scarface. Well
- 5:04Speaker 1: he does have like a scarface poster tail stairs.
- 5:06Speaker 3: I mean, oh does so we're starting to really we're
- 5:08Speaker 3: painting a picture. This is what you did instead of
- 5:11Speaker 3: going hell.
- 5:12Speaker 1: That's why you want to like, why don't you get
- 5:13Speaker 1: ahold of you that this it's my cousin, you know,
- 5:15Speaker 1: his dad, my mom, brother sister, like I gotta see family.
- 5:17Speaker 1: If it wasn't that, I would have been at the
- 5:18Speaker 1: cold room, whole bunch of roll. Okay, anyways, let's get
- 5:20Speaker 1: to your dinner.
- 5:21Speaker 2: You had an interesting dinner experience.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I understand a buddy of mine in town or you know,
- 5:26Speaker 3: we'll see at the end of this yeal though I
- 5:27Speaker 3: thought he was a buddy of mine. So he had
- 5:29Speaker 3: this restaurant years ago and then he you know, revamped
- 5:32Speaker 3: it turned in this really cool, you know, eclectic restaurant.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Tons of great food. Everything's like cooked and tallow uh
- 5:39Speaker 3: and butter. Like there's no seed oils. I'm a big
- 5:42Speaker 3: anti seed oil person. You know. They got bison, all
- 5:44Speaker 3: this great meat and everything, well bison, and but it's
- 5:47Speaker 3: a little bit expensive. So we go in and again
- 5:50Speaker 3: it's okay, I go with. I went to have dinner
- 5:52Speaker 3: with Brad Richardson, who played for the Kings, and his wife,
- 5:55Speaker 3: Jessica zor Uh and my wife and and you know,
- 5:58Speaker 3: we were catching up and he found out that we
- 6:01Speaker 3: were going there because I texted him, I said, hey,
- 6:02Speaker 3: can we get a table? And obviously he booked us
- 6:05Speaker 3: a table. I thought it would be packed. It wasn't packed,
- 6:07Speaker 3: but you know there's people there. So we sit down
- 6:09Speaker 3: and he comes in. He sits down with us. Hey,
- 6:12Speaker 3: what's up. How you doing? He orders a bottle of water,
- 6:15Speaker 3: still water. He's drinking it. Uh, he's talking to us.
- 6:19Speaker 3: He's going, hey, you gotta get this. You gotta get this,
- 6:20Speaker 3: you gotta get this, you gotta get this. I said, perfect,
- 6:23Speaker 3: I'm gonna buonebo.
- 6:24Speaker 2: He knows the menu.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Els we know on your thing. Yes, we're falling your thing.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Now.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I'm not saying that I'm some cheap skate and I'm
- 6:30Speaker 3: not gonna pay my own way. But if you come
- 6:32Speaker 3: from your house and you sit down at my at
- 6:35Speaker 3: your restaurant, I'm sitting with you. My brother owns bars.
- 6:38Speaker 3: He's a small business owner. I understand how it works.
- 6:40Speaker 3: You pick up something. Now, I don't care what you
- 6:43Speaker 3: pick up. You could pick up the breadsticks that cost
- 6:45Speaker 3: a dollar fifty. I do not give a shit. But
- 6:49Speaker 3: if you don't pick up one thing, and I get
- 6:51Speaker 3: the bill, and it is astronomical because I'm ordering left
- 6:55Speaker 3: and right, my I am.
- 6:56Speaker 2: He's telling you what to order. You're following him.
- 6:57Speaker 3: He's like this, I'm like, okay, I got you. I
- 6:59Speaker 3: think you're gonna give me just a little bit of juice, Like,
- 7:02Speaker 3: just give me something, give me, give me a dessert
- 7:04Speaker 3: for free. We talked about it via text because I
- 7:06Speaker 3: texted you being like, yeah, we got to talk about this.
- 7:08Speaker 3: I could not believe it. And I like this guy,
- 7:11Speaker 3: and listen, I'm not gonna write him off, but I
- 7:14Speaker 3: was flabbergasted. And Richardson knows him too. So We're like
- 7:18Speaker 3: sitting reminiscent talking about the good old days, and I'm like,
- 7:21Speaker 3: I just get just chop off my left arm while
- 7:24Speaker 3: you're attic.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Cause you just took me to the cleaners.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Yeah. It was just one of those where I'm just like, hey,
- 7:29Speaker 3: if you own a restaurant, don't own one if you
- 7:32Speaker 3: can't now and again comp a little bit of vanilla
- 7:35Speaker 3: ice cream or something, or the bread sticks, the biscuits. Yeah,
- 7:39Speaker 3: just give me give me five bucks off. Make it
- 7:41Speaker 3: seem like it put it you could put a friend's
- 7:43Speaker 3: discount on the bottom minus fifty cents. I'll be you
- 7:46Speaker 3: know what. I respect it. You took off fifty cents.
- 7:49Speaker 3: The waiters now going to get that fifty cents and
- 7:51Speaker 3: you just you help two people out. You help me.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I help you. Never the Twain shall meet. But god damnit,
- 7:57Speaker 3: it was I And then Richardson's looking at me going
- 7:59Speaker 3: like is this guy for real?
- 8:01Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 8:01Speaker 3: Is this for real? And I was like, Man, I'm like,
- 8:05Speaker 3: I gotta work two more podcasts just to pay this off.
- 8:08Speaker 2: As far as the Habs are concerned, Jay, I'm there
- 8:09Speaker 2: a month ago.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I'm thinking they're dead and buried, and like Nose Faratu,
- 8:13Speaker 1: they have risen from the depths.
- 8:14Speaker 2: My man, Marty san Luis has got this team rolling
- 8:16Speaker 2: right now.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I want to talk to but a guy nobody's talking about,
- 8:19Speaker 1: Jake Evans, who's been hot recently.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Had a great sit down with him. Dude. He's a
- 8:23Speaker 2: late round pick from Toronto, you.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Know, grew up a Leafs fan, very quickly became a
- 8:26Speaker 1: Habs and once he was drafted. He's a great story
- 8:29Speaker 1: because he's one of those unherlded players and he was
- 8:31Speaker 1: telling me about his journey. It's awesome to see ho
- 8:33Speaker 1: while he's been playing this year, I think he's got
- 8:35Speaker 1: ten goals. He had seven old last year. Maybe I
- 8:36Speaker 1: reversed the numbers. Ten last year seven. This year, we
- 8:38Speaker 1: scored like, you know, four or five straight games. But
- 8:40Speaker 1: I said to him, Mom, I said, Hall of Fame
- 8:43Speaker 1: third baseman, Mike Schmidt.
- 8:44Speaker 2: He's a guy.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I go it was one set of him. He was
- 8:46Speaker 1: so strong, it's so nimble. He could move a piano
- 8:49Speaker 1: and he could play one two. And I said, we
- 8:50Speaker 1: could also say the same about Jake Evans and he
- 8:52Speaker 1: starts laughing. I said, you play the piano. He's like yeah,
- 8:55Speaker 1: because I don't know if I could move anny pianos,
- 8:56Speaker 1: to be honest with those suckers are pretty heavy.
- 8:58Speaker 2: But I could play.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I said, if I throw a keyboard out here right now,
- 9:00Speaker 1: are you knocking out some chopin?
- 9:02Speaker 2: And he's like, absolutely, for Christmas chopsticks. It's unbelievable.
- 9:07Speaker 1: So if there's a guy roof for right now who
- 9:09Speaker 1: is singing a sweet tune for the halves, it's Jake Evans.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Jake the Snake could bust out a little chop hen
- 9:15Speaker 3: if you need it.
- 9:18Speaker 1: You talking about see you talked about having some E
- 9:20Speaker 1: D M in the dress room.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Maagine, he's the guys. I got an idea. I'm gonna
- 9:23Speaker 2: play the piano, get us in the mood, a little
- 9:25Speaker 2: table setter.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I'm gonna play. I'm gonna play Beethoven's with an eighth
- 9:30Speaker 3: Symphony or.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Whatever it is, Beethoven's nine.
- 9:32Speaker 3: They're all great, Yeah it's nine, since they're all good.
- 9:34Speaker 3: But the nineties where it really But.
- 9:36Speaker 2: This Montreal team I want to throw to you. Do
- 9:38Speaker 2: you honestly think the regul of their playoff team?
- 9:41Speaker 1: Now, I know eleven and five stretches mid December, maybe
- 9:43Speaker 1: it's unlikely you can continue at that rate, But there's
- 9:45Speaker 1: such parody right now on the NHL in the Eastern Conference.
- 9:48Speaker 1: You can start to talk yourself as saying, at least
- 9:50Speaker 1: you know hockey's relevant Montrell. We both know what a
- 9:53Speaker 1: hockey hotpit that is. How great the Bell Center is.
- 9:55Speaker 1: It was so refreshing to be there. They haven't made
- 9:57Speaker 1: the playoffs in three seasons. It's just nice to see
- 9:59Speaker 1: Montreal in it. Do you think they can sustain it?
- 10:01Speaker 3: Well, let's temper some expectations here, because I'm gonna start
- 10:05Speaker 3: off with last year at this time they were at
- 10:07Speaker 3: the same amount of points, so and we know what happened.
- 10:11Speaker 3: But what I'm gonna say that's different is they didn't
- 10:13Speaker 3: have Alane Hudson. Yes, this kid has been fantastic and
- 10:17Speaker 3: also I'm gonna I'll get to Lane Huntson in a second,
- 10:20Speaker 3: but I'm gonna go into that Jake Evans, that line
- 10:22Speaker 3: they didn't have an established Emil Heineman. Jake Evans and
- 10:26Speaker 3: Joel Armia have been absolutely fantastic and you cannot make
- 10:29Speaker 3: the playoffs, let alone win without a solid third line
- 10:33Speaker 3: and depth. So what I mean by assault they're done.
- 10:35Speaker 3: You look at the Florida Panthers. They had the Lundel's,
- 10:37Speaker 3: The Anton Lundell line was borderline a two seed. What
- 10:41Speaker 3: was their third line was super great. Edmonton Oilers in
- 10:44Speaker 3: the finals last year they had the Connor Brown they
- 10:47Speaker 3: had the Adam Henryk line. So you need a line
- 10:49Speaker 3: that's kind of a motor. That line has been the
- 10:51Speaker 3: motor for him. Now what is what is ken he
- 10:55Speaker 3: was gonna do at the trade deadline? Are the buyers
- 10:57Speaker 3: or sellers? I don't know if they can be buyers.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I think they're gonna have to move something. So do
- 11:02Speaker 3: you move with Jake Evans to get potentially good piece,
- 11:04Speaker 3: because he's gonna be I'm telling you what. If I'm
- 11:06Speaker 3: a team, He's one of my first calls. Him and
- 11:09Speaker 3: Joel Armia are two of the guys that I'm calling
- 11:11Speaker 3: trying to get from the Montreal Canadians. So I don't
- 11:14Speaker 3: know what they're gonna do. That's just more do they
- 11:17Speaker 3: They're still in a rebuild, so do they want to
- 11:19Speaker 3: move this ahead or are they going to try to
- 11:20Speaker 3: go get some assets at the deadline because it's gonna
- 11:23Speaker 3: be tough to make the playoffs in the East. You know,
- 11:26Speaker 3: I think you watch Detroit recently, they've been really coming
- 11:29Speaker 3: along with Montreal. Is a team that could do it.
- 11:31Speaker 3: And I said, I mentioned it before, I talked about
- 11:33Speaker 3: the Armia line. But Lane Hudson, you know, thirty points,
- 11:37Speaker 3: absolutely incredible dynamic Offensively, they haven't had a guy that
- 11:41Speaker 3: can run the pp that way in a long time,
- 11:44Speaker 3: my die Dare I say since PK su Ben have
- 11:47Speaker 3: they had a guy that can really run the power
- 11:49Speaker 3: play like that? So and I'm giving PK some of
- 11:51Speaker 3: his flowers. Maybe we'll get Pik on the pod. Who knows,
- 11:54Speaker 3: he'll come on and we won't even need to be here.
- 11:56Speaker 3: He could probably talk the whole time. But I love Peaks.
- 11:58Speaker 3: He's great.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Well, most podcasts only have one guest, but Jay here
- 12:01Speaker 1: on Unscripted We're a little something specially here, not just
- 12:03Speaker 1: fighting the tank flash that's right, not just Frank thinking,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but also comedian ian Beg absolutely hilarious, huge Canucks fan,
- 12:09Speaker 1: and also stories from MVP two two guests today and
- 12:11Speaker 1: unscripted another one one thought on Hudson, it's amazing.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I think right now the Calder Race me and Kevin
- 12:17Speaker 2: Weeks stired today.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Yeah, Ice Macklins. Macklin's just had less games and has
- 12:22Speaker 3: done more. I mean, yeah, you can look at it.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I think Beachkoff, although BEACHCFF slowed a little bit, maybe
- 12:26Speaker 1: cele bringing money to Hudson's.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Right, Cebrian's gonna end up winning. I just think popular
- 12:30Speaker 3: vote as well. I think he will win, but Hudson's
- 12:33Speaker 3: You know, I have Hudson a little bit higher than
- 12:35Speaker 3: I have him, just to touch higher than Meachkoff, but
- 12:39Speaker 3: it's close. But I have Macklin out in the league
- 12:41Speaker 3: just because what he's done defensively as well. I mean,
- 12:43Speaker 3: he's just a complete player.
- 12:44Speaker 1: But World Juniors, to your point, what a buzz kill.
- 12:46Speaker 1: And again we have a big audience both in Canada
- 12:49Speaker 1: and the USA. Congrats the Americans. I think a lot
- 12:51Speaker 1: of us, like you and me had said They're gonna
- 12:52Speaker 1: be a formidable team from many people.
- 12:53Speaker 2: They were favored, they were awesome.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Unfortunately for Canada, they go down and honestly change starts
- 12:58Speaker 1: at the top. Canada flames out in the quarterfinals against
- 13:01Speaker 1: check Ya. That means Trudeau's out.
- 13:03Speaker 2: He's got to take ownership. If he's the prime minister,
- 13:05Speaker 2: he's gone. I'm done. Back to back years now. World
- 13:07Speaker 2: hasn't worked out, So be it. Trudeau cost a prime
- 13:11Speaker 2: minister's job.
- 13:12Speaker 3: We're going to take some of my money now. Don't
- 13:14Speaker 3: got any bank accounts in Canada though, so sorry dru.
- 13:17Speaker 1: It's but it's brutal when Canada loses when we're hosting
- 13:20Speaker 1: the World Juniors, like it sucks to lose, but especially
- 13:22Speaker 1: when it's in the Ottawa a little painful.
- 13:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I just the whole tournament seemed it just did
- 13:28Speaker 3: kno get off on the right foot. Even just in
- 13:30Speaker 3: the selection process, You're hearing a lot of stuff come
- 13:32Speaker 3: out in the politics and hockey. Canada's really you know,
- 13:36Speaker 3: dug their foot in the sand of like we know
- 13:38Speaker 3: best and we can pick the best team without really
- 13:41Speaker 3: getting any outside council or anything like that or anybody
- 13:44Speaker 3: that's in NHL ranks. So it's it started there, and
- 13:49Speaker 3: then I obviously thought, you know, you're starting to hear
- 13:51Speaker 3: of these canceled practices, no morning skate. The coach coming out,
- 13:55Speaker 3: Cameron saying that they're tired, and I'm like, well, how
- 13:57Speaker 3: are they tired? You built the program, you built the
- 13:59Speaker 3: training camp for them. You should have them dialed in
- 14:01Speaker 3: and know exactly where they are. They're in Canada, they're
- 14:04Speaker 3: at home. This should be the easiest kind of way
- 14:07Speaker 3: and easiest format for them to be in the best
- 14:10Speaker 3: possible shape. So canceling practice is tough, especially in a
- 14:14Speaker 3: short form tournament, because you need kind of those reps,
- 14:16Speaker 3: whether you're walking through things or you're you know, trying
- 14:20Speaker 3: to do some one on one battle drills. I think
- 14:21Speaker 3: just getting guys on the same page, because it just
- 14:24Speaker 3: didn't seem like that the whole tournament. They were chasing it,
- 14:26Speaker 3: you know, and they never got their feet under them.
- 14:29Speaker 3: You know, discipline was a huge issue. And on top
- 14:33Speaker 3: of discipline, yeah, we talk about that last time, right
- 14:35Speaker 3: the America.
- 14:35Speaker 1: You can't give the four power plays they score the
- 14:37Speaker 1: three of them is bru.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Now, yeah, and you can't be undisciplined if you're undsciplined,
- 14:40Speaker 3: then you can't have a bad penalty kill you at
- 14:42Speaker 3: least have to be dialed in there, and they just
- 14:44Speaker 3: didn't look like they were in sync.
- 14:45Speaker 4: It.
- 14:45Speaker 3: It was a mess, you know, and I kind of
- 14:48Speaker 3: give more ownership behind the bench than on the ice.
- 14:51Speaker 3: You know, they awful. They lost Matt Schaeffer is a huge,
- 14:54Speaker 3: huge loss, and you know they got good goaltending for
- 14:56Speaker 3: most of them for most of the tournament. But you know,
- 15:00Speaker 3: it's just one of those things. It's anybody could win.
- 15:03Speaker 3: But I feel like this really showed that everybody in
- 15:06Speaker 3: the world's catching up now. So Hockey Canada either has
- 15:09Speaker 3: to adapt or we're gonna get left behind. So we
- 15:11Speaker 3: have to figure out a way to kind of manage
- 15:14Speaker 3: and become better managers of these players and also have
- 15:19Speaker 3: a better selection process and not have it be so
- 15:22Speaker 3: political and be unbiased. And then listen when you are playing,
- 15:26Speaker 3: when you're bringing these guys on these teams that are
- 15:28Speaker 3: on the same team and play on the same line,
- 15:30Speaker 3: do not switch up the lines. Let the familiarity come through,
- 15:34Speaker 3: let them play together, and you'll just you'll see that
- 15:38Speaker 3: we'll be there at the end of the tournament. At
- 15:40Speaker 3: least in the meddling. Not getting a medal is oh
- 15:43Speaker 3: is embarrassing for Canada, but you know, credit to us.
- 15:46Speaker 3: They were the team to beat all tournament. They were fantastic.
- 15:49Speaker 2: How do you gonna feel if you're a Capitals fit MVP?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Ryan Leonard speaking of Hudson's you got Cole Hudson who
- 15:54Speaker 1: led the tournament, scoring both those guys Caps prospects.
- 15:57Speaker 3: I tell you what, Cole Hudson was my player at
- 16:00Speaker 3: the tournament. I watched him a couple games intently. He's
- 16:05Speaker 3: so good. Uh, he's he's I think he's going to
- 16:08Speaker 3: be a level above Lane. I just think he has
- 16:12Speaker 3: a he is a little bit more of a mean
- 16:14Speaker 3: streak and physicality to him that I think Lane doesn't have,
- 16:17Speaker 3: and and a little bit more more arrogance to him
- 16:20Speaker 3: in the in the good sense. So I I really
- 16:22Speaker 3: do think, you know, and I feel like he's going
- 16:24Speaker 3: into a better situation than Lane is. You know, Capitals
- 16:28Speaker 3: are going to win now, and he's just gonna aid
- 16:29Speaker 3: in that win now scenario. Like I thought for me
- 16:31Speaker 3: going into a scenario where I was on a playoff
- 16:34Speaker 3: team my first two years, uh, you know, my first
- 16:36Speaker 3: six helped me so much more than being on a
- 16:38Speaker 3: rebuilding team because I learned how to win like that.
- 16:41Speaker 3: And he already has the pedigree winning at the World Juniors.
- 16:44Speaker 3: And now he's going to go on to a team
- 16:47Speaker 3: that's going for the playoffs a year in and year out,
- 16:49Speaker 3: especially with ov not slowing down, and and you know
- 16:52Speaker 3: they're they're going to be challenging for a Stanley Cup
- 16:55Speaker 3: for for at least a couple of years. And he's
- 16:57Speaker 3: just gonna aid in.
- 16:58Speaker 1: That Carbs right now, speaking of Coach of the Year
- 17:02Speaker 1: right now for the Jack Adams Spencer carb is in
- 17:03Speaker 1: a phenomenal of that cab. Yeah, it's it's been a
- 17:07Speaker 1: really good story for them and obviously great news of
- 17:09Speaker 1: those young players on the way. All right, still to
- 17:11Speaker 1: come here in the podcast, we will get into the
- 17:12Speaker 1: Golden Globes winners and losers, plus the long gestating topic
- 17:16Speaker 1: at least off the year. Here an NHL in scripted
- 17:18Speaker 1: about the Kardashians as Kylie Jenner now dating everyone's favorite
- 17:21Speaker 1: IT boy timidates Shallow May.
- 17:22Speaker 2: But first Frank Frank the tank is next a lot
- 17:34Speaker 2: of pleasure bringing.
- 17:34Speaker 1: An absolute powerhouse in the world of online sports media,
- 17:38Speaker 1: a blogger, a vlogger, a podcast or a hot dog officionado,
- 17:42Speaker 1: the host of Frank Watson, all around king of every
- 17:45Speaker 1: online platform, and of course he's also a huge Devil's fan.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Frank the Tank Fleming Frank, it is great to see you.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Thanks so much for joining us here an NHL unscripted.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Give me a little bit of your state of affairs
- 17:54Speaker 3: with the Devils. What are you like in not liking
- 17:57Speaker 3: so far this season?
- 17:58Speaker 5: Well, they had a good December, but they've been I
- 18:04Speaker 5: don't know, came out the holiday break kind of like fat.
- 18:08Speaker 5: I mean, they're allowing way too many breakaways, odd man
- 18:15Speaker 5: rushes against themselves. They've I mean they're lucky to beat
- 18:21Speaker 5: the Cracking on Monday. That at that ended a four
- 18:24Speaker 5: game losing streak. Uh. They didn't play poorly in Carolina,
- 18:27Speaker 5: but their three losses to the Ducks, the Sharks, and
- 18:31Speaker 5: the Kings were just terrible. I mean, losing to the
- 18:34Speaker 5: Sharks twice.
- 18:35Speaker 3: I mean, come on, hey, come on, I'm a celebrity guy,
- 18:39Speaker 3: come on now.
- 18:42Speaker 6: The Sharks are a terrible team.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Wow.
- 18:45Speaker 5: They might have they might have some good young pieces,
- 18:50Speaker 5: but that's a team that couldn't win the Stanley Cup
- 18:54Speaker 5: came close, had a couple of great years, but didn't
- 19:00Speaker 5: prepare for the after properly. And they're like, it's it's
- 19:08Speaker 5: hard to build in the NHL. If you look at
- 19:11Speaker 5: the NHL, it's hard to build in the NHL. If
- 19:15Speaker 5: you go down, you're gonna go down for a while.
- 19:19Speaker 5: I mean the Red Wings, how long have they been
- 19:21Speaker 5: down now?
- 19:21Speaker 2: Five years? Haven't made the playoffs?
- 19:23Speaker 3: Too long?
- 19:23Speaker 5: You're not gonna make it this year either. No, it
- 19:25Speaker 5: looks like they're on the bridge last year, but they're
- 19:27Speaker 5: taking a step back this year. The Devils after twenty
- 19:34Speaker 5: twelve had a decade in the in the wilderness. I'll
- 19:39Speaker 5: say you it's gonna have a decade in the wilderness
- 19:41Speaker 5: coming up. The Bruins.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Oh, it's getting it bad there too.
- 19:44Speaker 5: They made one if if lucky, two more years of
- 19:51Speaker 5: being relevant and then they're gonna be bad. And I'm
- 19:53Speaker 5: talking bat black Hawks bad.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Wow?
- 19:57Speaker 5: Where in the black Hawks? They wanted three Cups? They
- 20:00Speaker 5: did a run, but then he didn't They had they
- 20:03Speaker 5: just didn't have to players who replaced them as they
- 20:05Speaker 5: got old. They're gonna be bad. Penguins are gonna be bad.
- 20:08Speaker 5: Teams are on the verge of just being bad, and
- 20:11Speaker 5: it takes a while to turn things around in the NHL.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Let's get to the Bruins a little bit more, because
- 20:16Speaker 1: you're right, Frank, they've lost five straight games. They lose
- 20:18Speaker 1: against the Edmonton Oilers rematch the nineteen ninety Stanley Cup Final,
- 20:21Speaker 1: love Bill Ramford. But you know Pastorak hasn't been the
- 20:24Speaker 1: same player, Marshan McAvoy. Obviously the coaching change the game,
- 20:28Speaker 1: a little bit of spark. Monty was the fall guy.
- 20:29Speaker 1: But you think this is gonna get precipitously worse right now?
- 20:32Speaker 1: They're a playoff team. You don't see them being a
- 20:33Speaker 1: playoff team. You see them bottom me out.
- 20:35Speaker 5: I see them getting in the playoffs this year and
- 20:39Speaker 5: then maybe next year. But then it's gonna be bottom barrel,
- 20:45Speaker 5: like the Red Wings, like the black Hawks, like the Sharks,
- 20:49Speaker 5: where these were teams that were contended for several years,
- 20:53Speaker 5: but he didn't they held on too long. They they
- 20:57Speaker 5: didn't make the trades, they didn't make the plays, and
- 21:00Speaker 5: didn't make the replace the older guys, and they're gonna
- 21:05Speaker 5: be bad.
- 21:06Speaker 3: You know, you've been known to like have these great
- 21:08Speaker 3: takes and just talking a little bit like your knowledge
- 21:10Speaker 3: is vast of the game, and you know, sometimes people
- 21:14Speaker 3: overlook that because you have these crazy rants and you
- 21:16Speaker 3: get really fired up and passionate. But I wanted to
- 21:18Speaker 3: talk about that because what are something like, what's like
- 21:21Speaker 3: your one thing where every time you see a team
- 21:24Speaker 3: during a game pull it off like it's without fail
- 21:26Speaker 3: to make you snap.
- 21:30Speaker 5: Sloppy play just just allowing like a hundred breakaways, allowing
- 21:37Speaker 5: rebound shots and not taking the body, not not clearing
- 21:42Speaker 5: the puck, letting that just getting trapped in your zone
- 21:46Speaker 5: and then next thing, you know, the goalie can't do
- 21:49Speaker 5: anything and the puck is buy him. I mean, and
- 21:53Speaker 5: that's what's been the devil has been since Christmas. It's
- 21:56Speaker 5: it's it's they were playing so well, they were getting
- 21:59Speaker 5: allowing twelve shots in some games, eight straight games of
- 22:04Speaker 5: us one left shots where when he when he played
- 22:08Speaker 5: small hockey, where they they pushed the puck to the board,
- 22:12Speaker 5: make it hard for them to get the shot. Not
- 22:15Speaker 5: thing that's a pet peeve of mine. You got two
- 22:20Speaker 5: feet away from the red line and you dump it
- 22:21Speaker 5: in and you get an icing, I mean, the centerized icings.
- 22:28Speaker 5: It's just and you know, that's when that's when goals happen.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Yeah, just take a stride. Just take one more stride,
- 22:36Speaker 3: take one more stride. Don't lay up, don't come up lame.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Frank, your your origin story is amazing. People don't know, like,
- 22:42Speaker 1: how how did you get to this level? If you
- 22:44Speaker 1: had mind blowing in her access with celebrities, how did
- 22:46Speaker 1: you become what you had become, which is a very
- 22:48Speaker 1: successful online presence.
- 22:51Speaker 5: I've always had the ability, I just needed the opportunity,
- 22:56Speaker 5: and the opportunity came when Barstool called after my New
- 22:59Speaker 5: Jersey Transit ran, Oh.
- 23:03Speaker 3: We can, we can get into the New Jersey and
- 23:04Speaker 3: J Transit.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Just the inefficiency of government, I hear you, man, did
- 23:09Speaker 1: you see new thing in New Jersey?
- 23:10Speaker 2: No, what's the latest?
- 23:14Speaker 5: Don't have any kids in New Jersey? I tell you that.
- 23:16Speaker 4: What Uh?
- 23:17Speaker 5: They announced that teachers will no longer be required to
- 23:20Speaker 5: be uh proficient proficient literacy to be a teacher to
- 23:26Speaker 5: get chief.
- 23:27Speaker 2: That can't be true.
- 23:30Speaker 1: In literacy there, it's illiterate teachers.
- 23:34Speaker 5: They said that it's an unfair requirement and will limit
- 23:40Speaker 5: the pool where she couldraw teachers from.
- 23:42Speaker 3: That's like a hockey player, not needing to know skate
- 23:45Speaker 3: like the.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Like the dude like. The New Jersey Teachers Union argued
- 23:49Speaker 5: for it, and the state has agreed that the teachers
- 23:51Speaker 5: will no longer be required to be literate.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Well, it's discrimination, right, You want to help the illiterate
- 23:57Speaker 1: people along with the litter, especial when it's helping the
- 23:59Speaker 1: education of all of our children.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Frank Walks has been an amazing story. How much to
- 24:04Speaker 2: be lost? What has this journey been like for you?
- 24:06Speaker 6: Frank?
- 24:07Speaker 5: Yeah, here it is. There was a check. Did this this?
- 24:11Speaker 4: This?
- 24:12Speaker 5: This news came out just this past week. New Jersey
- 24:14Speaker 5: teachers are no longer required to take a basic skills
- 24:18Speaker 5: test in reading, writing, and math to get a teaching license.
- 24:23Speaker 3: And then that's that is comic coms.
- 24:28Speaker 2: The Onion. Are you sure this isn't from the Onion? Frank,
- 24:30Speaker 2: this can't be true.
- 24:32Speaker 5: This is from New Jersey dot com, the number one
- 24:35Speaker 5: new source in New Jersey.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Oh fuck, hey, tough day for the kids. Tough day
- 24:41Speaker 3: for the kids. But Frank, let's add and was just saying,
- 24:46Speaker 3: and I want to tell.
- 24:47Speaker 5: I could just say, now the kindergarten, the kindergarten class
- 24:50Speaker 5: with the teacher going up see Spot run, see Dick run.
- 24:54Speaker 5: And then the teacher goes, h can you read it?
- 24:56Speaker 5: I want to hear how it ends.
- 25:02Speaker 1: So you take over from here just to hand off
- 25:04Speaker 1: so the teachers, the teachers will be learning to read
- 25:06Speaker 1: right along with the kids.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Everybody wins, everybody wins.
- 25:11Speaker 3: I'm winning. Uh now, Frank talk to us about Frank walks.
- 25:15Speaker 3: I I'm putting in my bid to walk with you.
- 25:19Speaker 3: But how did that all come to be? And like,
- 25:20Speaker 3: how much weight have you lost now? And how great
- 25:23Speaker 3: has it been in Cathark has it been for you
- 25:25Speaker 3: to go on the store.
- 25:26Speaker 5: My heaviest I was well over five hundred pounds, so
- 25:29Speaker 5: I'm down two hundred pounds.
- 25:30Speaker 6: For my heaviest.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Good for you.
- 25:31Speaker 5: I'm around three twenty now. I went from size six
- 25:34Speaker 5: exherts to size three. And I started the walks when
- 25:42Speaker 5: I was at.
- 25:45Speaker 6: Notre Dame a couple of years ago.
- 25:46Speaker 5: And I've walked now like four hundred and seventy consecutive days.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Wow, good for you, I've done.
- 25:54Speaker 5: JJ Watt was the first to contact us and offer
- 25:57Speaker 5: to walk with us, and that's how the celebrity walks
- 26:00Speaker 5: started after that, and I'm now I walked with Gat
- 26:05Speaker 5: a second time. Of course I walked with p K
- 26:07Speaker 5: subon that you.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Haven't walked to the hockey player before.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Okay, okay, I walked with Biz.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Well you gotta add to merless list.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I got to come out with you, man. I'd
- 26:19Speaker 3: love to come out and chop it up with you
- 26:21Speaker 3: for sure.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Who who's the guess you'd most like to walk with
- 26:26Speaker 1: in the hockey world. I realized now, Frank, why you
- 26:30Speaker 1: were upset of the You worked as a hostitute teacher
- 26:32Speaker 1: in Bloomfield?
- 26:33Speaker 2: Is that right over twenty years ago? What was that
- 26:34Speaker 2: experience like? Were you illiterate?
- 26:38Speaker 5: It wasn't for me, And of course they sent me
- 26:40Speaker 5: to the middle school and uh, that's just the kids
- 26:49Speaker 5: at that age are are are just assholes.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Yeah, their hormones are all over the place too. You
- 26:56Speaker 3: get you get something on a bad.
- 26:57Speaker 5: Day, get kids at the kids at the middle school
- 27:00Speaker 5: age or just assholes.
- 27:01Speaker 6: Yeah, they just did.
- 27:04Speaker 2: And they see the.
- 27:05Speaker 5: Substitute teacher, who's who's trying to figure out what he's doing,
- 27:09Speaker 5: and we figure out how to teach lesson and of
- 27:14Speaker 5: course they they take advantage and they told me that
- 27:18Speaker 5: they they could use calculators or math class.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Can't learn long division using a calculator, Frank, come on
- 27:28Speaker 1: to that note. We were interessing a new segment in
- 27:30Speaker 1: the show called Am I Wrong? I want to get
- 27:32Speaker 1: your take on a certain topic when it comes to
- 27:33Speaker 1: sports fan etiquete you feel fairly strongly about. Could be
- 27:36Speaker 1: anything from ketchup on a hot dog, wearing your own
- 27:38Speaker 1: name in a jersey?
- 27:39Speaker 2: Am I wrong? What's some etiquette Frank that fires you up?
- 27:42Speaker 6: Well?
- 27:43Speaker 5: In baseball, you're a Mexican on hockey, Yanks, we name
- 27:48Speaker 5: on the back of the jersey.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Oh, like their own They're like their name Ruth Garrick.
- 27:54Speaker 5: Ruth Garrick. Yankees. The Yankees as a point say that
- 27:59Speaker 5: we will never put the name on the back of
- 28:01Speaker 5: our jersey.
- 28:03Speaker 2: But then the fan shows up with the judge ninety nine.
- 28:05Speaker 5: Yeah, and I see, and I see people wearing those jerseys.
- 28:09Speaker 5: I think, no, that doesn't look right. Two Yankee fans
- 28:13Speaker 5: wouldn't wear name on the back of the jersey.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Uh, well, so those are yeah, those are fu gates.
- 28:22Speaker 5: The Central Center is just how loud the PA system
- 28:25Speaker 5: is needlessly.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Loud, Like you can't hear yourself talk when they play it.
- 28:32Speaker 5: Yes, and I think it actually hurts the atmosphere, like
- 28:37Speaker 5: they'll pumped in the door like a scrape of the eye. Still,
- 28:43Speaker 5: they'll pumped in noise and pumped the loudness, and then
- 28:47Speaker 5: they come back on the ice and they're ready to
- 28:50Speaker 5: play again. And now you were talking to each other
- 28:53Speaker 5: and it's quiet, and it's basically because just how loud.
- 28:58Speaker 5: I think it's so loud that during time out set
- 29:01Speaker 5: fans actually are just caught and stunned by it.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Hockey.
- 29:06Speaker 5: There's nothing that really bothers me at hockey games. Oh No,
- 29:09Speaker 5: the food, the potential center that bothers me.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Oh, it's awful. Prudential is one of the worst. It's
- 29:14Speaker 3: so bad.
- 29:16Speaker 5: And expensive too. Yeah, I wish I wish more people
- 29:19Speaker 5: followed the lead of the Atlanta Falcons and make the
- 29:23Speaker 5: food affordable.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Yeah. Utah, Utah did it too.
- 29:26Speaker 5: Yeah, utah. I like like a soda, they would sell
- 29:32Speaker 5: more soda.
- 29:33Speaker 6: If they made it three fifty.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:36Speaker 5: They would sell more hot dogs if they made hot
- 29:38Speaker 5: dogs like three dollars.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 3: And you get in a family of four coming there
- 29:42Speaker 3: is not getting nipped.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Frank the tank fleming obviously doing a great job online
- 29:46Speaker 1: makes you check out Frank Walks as borders work.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Can't thank you enough man for joining us here on script.
- 29:51Speaker 2: This was awesome.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 29:53Speaker 5: I look for doing more hockey content. I mean, hockey
- 29:57Speaker 5: is just unfortunately overlooked, and right now hockey has.
- 30:03Speaker 6: The chance to be the hero.
- 30:07Speaker 3: It does.
- 30:08Speaker 5: We got a sport that's more popular that sucks, and
- 30:16Speaker 5: I am talking about the.
- 30:17Speaker 2: End nba A load management sucks.
- 30:21Speaker 5: Load management has load management and the just the the
- 30:25Speaker 5: two three, the three point shot has ruined the game.
- 30:29Speaker 5: They they've they took, they took physically, they took hand
- 30:32Speaker 5: checking away from the game, so it's not physical. And
- 30:34Speaker 5: now you have teams taking uh forty thirty three pointers
- 30:39Speaker 5: at night. They're just going up and down the floor.
- 30:41Speaker 5: Shoot shoot shoot, shoot, shoot shoot shoot. There's no strategy.
- 30:46Speaker 5: It's whoever has the hot hand at night. If if
- 30:49Speaker 5: there's a team that's ice cold, they're not gonna win.
- 30:52Speaker 6: They just shoot shoot, shoot, shoot shoot.
- 30:54Speaker 5: There's no skill, there's no there's rarely any like exciting
- 30:58Speaker 5: plays anymore. And you watch forty eight minutes and if
- 31:02Speaker 5: there's a nineteen that's ice and fall behind by thirty
- 31:06Speaker 5: points to turn off the set, I mean five o'clock.
- 31:09Speaker 5: If there's five minutes left and the game's close, maybe
- 31:11Speaker 5: there's a little excitement. But waking up when it's five
- 31:14Speaker 5: minutes left, I mean the game is Boringate.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Thanks again, Frank, appreciate you man. Thanks Frank, well, Frank.
- 31:32Speaker 1: The tank was fantastic. Honestly, Jay, his backstory is amazing,
- 31:35Speaker 1: the fact he's dropped all that weight and obviously he's
- 31:37Speaker 1: made a huge falling for himself. Inspirational story, wouldn't you say?
- 31:40Speaker 3: I mean electric factory and in all cases, and you
- 31:44Speaker 3: know who's electric as well. And I want to flip
- 31:46Speaker 3: the script here at ND. I see you getting excited
- 31:49Speaker 3: because you don't have to run the show. I'll run
- 31:51Speaker 3: the show now. I want to talk to about the globes.
- 31:54Speaker 3: We got to get into a little bit. You're the Cinephile.
- 31:57Speaker 3: You had the famous podcast episodes. Yeah, no known worldwide.
- 32:02Speaker 3: We talked about it. You were in that ten percent
- 32:04Speaker 3: podcasts only five hundred followers or listeners.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah, ninety percent of podcasts have five hundred feeral listeners.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Cinophile was in the top ten percent.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Folks. He's been waiting to drop that nugget forever because
- 32:14Speaker 3: we've broken five hundred.
- 32:16Speaker 2: We've seen past. We are on the top time already.
- 32:18Speaker 3: But I want to give me your rundown of the
- 32:20Speaker 3: Globe is your favorite winner and then your biggest snub
- 32:24Speaker 3: throw to see.
- 32:24Speaker 1: The Brutalist win, which is a film which is playing
- 32:26Speaker 1: in limited release right now.
- 32:27Speaker 2: But the director also on Brady Corbet. Adrian Brody won
- 32:30Speaker 2: as well.
- 32:30Speaker 1: It's interesting when Brody won the Best Actor word for
- 32:33Speaker 1: The Penis, he was the youngest actor ever to win
- 32:35Speaker 1: the award that award for Best Actor. He was twenty
- 32:37Speaker 1: nine years of age. But he never was winning the
- 32:39Speaker 1: Golden Globes. Prior to that, Jack Nicholson was winning, Dane
- 32:41Speaker 1: da Lewis was winning. So Brodie's encouraging a bit of
- 32:44Speaker 1: a resurgence right now with The Brutalist, which a lot of
- 32:46Speaker 1: people haven't seen yet, but it's a great film.
- 32:48Speaker 2: It's got shades that there will be blood.
- 32:49Speaker 1: It's not as good as that masterpiece, but it's about
- 32:52Speaker 1: capitalists rise and fall. Three hours and fifteen minutes, epic film.
- 32:55Speaker 1: If you like a classic old school movie, you're gonna
- 32:57Speaker 1: love The Brutalist. I was really happy that won Best
- 32:59Speaker 1: Picture as far as drama was concerned. Now as far
- 33:02Speaker 1: as a best wado of the night.
- 33:03Speaker 2: A lot of people are.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Talking about Amy Moore and I know you're gonna watch
- 33:06Speaker 1: The Substance. I can't wait till you watch this movie
- 33:07Speaker 1: because it's about female empowerment.
- 33:09Speaker 2: It's audacious, it's stunning.
- 33:12Speaker 1: What it's really about is, you know, the struggle that
- 33:14Speaker 1: women go through sometimes in terms of beauty, and I mean,
- 33:16Speaker 1: there's a lot of different issues they deal with. But
- 33:18Speaker 1: I thought Demi Moore, it's the biggest award of her
- 33:20Speaker 1: career forty five years. She's never won a major award.
- 33:23Speaker 1: She was Oscar nominated for Ghost. You know, everyone remembers
- 33:26Speaker 1: the run she had with g I Jane stripp, Tea's
- 33:28Speaker 1: all the rest of it. But to actually be an
- 33:29Speaker 1: award winner in her sixties for a film called The Substance,
- 33:32Speaker 1: I can't wait till you see. If the final thirty
- 33:34Speaker 1: minutes is absolutely bonkers, You're either gonna love it or
- 33:36Speaker 1: you're gonna hate it, but you're gonna be talking about it.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Great.
- 33:38Speaker 1: See Demi Moore win. It was a really nice night
- 33:39Speaker 1: and a nice moment at the Golden Globes.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Well.
- 33:42Speaker 3: I liked her speech too. I caught her speech. I
- 33:44Speaker 3: gotta That's what made me want to watch The Substance
- 33:46Speaker 3: is her speech and talking about how she was told
- 33:48Speaker 3: she was a popcorn actress and wasn't gonna mount to anything.
- 33:51Speaker 3: And you know, my wife, being an actress, we always
- 33:54Speaker 3: talk and saying like how it's such a beautiful art
- 33:57Speaker 3: because there's no time limit on it. You know, you
- 33:59Speaker 3: can just do it. You can hit your stride. Whenever
- 34:01Speaker 3: you look at Anthony Hopkins, the career he's had started
- 34:05Speaker 3: so late, well into his fifties. You know, Demi Moore
- 34:08Speaker 3: had a career when she was young, but there's never
- 34:11Speaker 3: It's like it's crazy. It's like a painting that's constantly
- 34:14Speaker 3: changing because when you when you get aged out of
- 34:17Speaker 3: a certain age bracket, you then are eligible for a
- 34:20Speaker 3: certain age bracket and you learn it with experience in
- 34:22Speaker 3: life and you get to bring that to art. And
- 34:24Speaker 3: that's what I love about movies is just that aspect
- 34:28Speaker 3: of it is that it's never ending, it's always changing,
- 34:31Speaker 3: and when it's on point and like it there's a
- 34:34Speaker 3: good message, it's so much fun to watch. So I
- 34:37Speaker 3: actually like that. I'm excited to watch The Substance. Substance.
- 34:39Speaker 3: I watched all the trailers last night and then the brutalist,
- 34:43Speaker 3: big architecture fan I am. Some would call it the
- 34:45Speaker 3: art Vandale of hockey. Would you say Guy Pearce is underrated?
- 34:50Speaker 2: Absolutely, He's been in a remark black for a long time.
- 34:51Speaker 2: He told a really funny story because now he's making
- 34:53Speaker 2: the rounds.
- 34:54Speaker 1: He's likely going to be dominant for supporting the actor,
- 34:55Speaker 1: probably gonna lose to Kieran Culkin for a Real Pain, which,
- 34:58Speaker 1: by the way, speaking as you were discussing about ages
- 35:00Speaker 1: and actors, would anybody have expected when Macaulay Culkin was
- 35:03Speaker 1: dominating a whole alone, that Kieran Kulkan one day would
- 35:06Speaker 1: win an Emmy Award for Succession And now he's the
- 35:08Speaker 1: favorite to win an Academy Award for a Real Pain.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Now he kind of plays the same guy. He's you know,
- 35:12Speaker 1: he's smart ass and stuff.
- 35:13Speaker 3: He plays the smart ass the spara alarchy.
- 35:15Speaker 1: But he's unbelievable in a Real Pain and I think
- 35:17Speaker 1: he might win the Academy Award as well. But yeah,
- 35:20Speaker 1: I think Guy Pierce, back to your point, he said,
- 35:22Speaker 1: because you know, obviously Nolan in Momento was a really
- 35:24Speaker 1: critical film for them. He said, he's going to be
- 35:26Speaker 1: in Batman begins and Nolan very famously doesn't have an iPhone.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Like he just he just you know, uses a dial
- 35:31Speaker 2: up an email. That's it.
- 35:32Speaker 1: So he told Guy to come out to England and
- 35:35Speaker 1: when he got there, no one pulled him aside because
- 35:37Speaker 1: I got bad news. He's there's an executive order Brothers
- 35:39Speaker 1: who told me I don't get Guy Pearce, and I'm like, what,
- 35:42Speaker 1: he's a guy Pierce is not going to be in
- 35:43Speaker 1: Batman period. So you can come see the batmanbile, we
- 35:46Speaker 1: can hang and have lunch from Sorry, you're not gonna
- 35:47Speaker 1: be in the movie.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Furthermore, this is the well.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Furthermore, this is incredible to see how excited you got.
- 35:53Speaker 3: I haven't seen you have this much energy in six episodes.
- 35:55Speaker 1: To that end, let's get into a little bit of
- 35:57Speaker 1: smut because one of the big stories here is Timo
- 36:00Speaker 1: Tate Shallomey, who's having a moment twenty nine years of age,
- 36:03Speaker 1: Golden Globe, nominated for a complete unknown tal liked it
- 36:05Speaker 1: more than I did, but I appreciate the fact he's
- 36:07Speaker 1: a terrific actor. He sang his own songs. The movie
- 36:09Speaker 1: has definitely been a box office hit. He didn't win
- 36:12Speaker 1: the Golden Globe, but he's winning at life because if
- 36:14Speaker 1: you saw him the Globes, he's there with twenty seven
- 36:15Speaker 1: year old Kylie Jenner winning. And I believe if you
- 36:19Speaker 1: ask most people, if we just took a wide smath
- 36:21Speaker 1: of unscripted listeners, they go, you know, the Kardashians are
- 36:24Speaker 1: kind of obnoxious. They're definitely annoying and I got a
- 36:26Speaker 1: little grating, but nobody can deny they're incredibly successful and
- 36:30Speaker 1: a lot of women want to be them and a
- 36:31Speaker 1: lot of men want to be with them. And yet you,
- 36:34Speaker 1: Jason Demurz, and what I appreciate about you is like
- 36:36Speaker 1: you're a contrarian. You go okay, and I go, you
- 36:37Speaker 1: don't think Kim Kardashian. You're telling me if you're a
- 36:40Speaker 1: single man. And Kim kardasha walked in with this big
- 36:44Speaker 1: caboose of hers and goes, Jay take me. Now, you go, hey,
- 36:46Speaker 1: can you move out the way? I'm trying to watch
- 36:47Speaker 1: Brady Kachuk. This this is not your jam, is what
- 36:50Speaker 1: you're trying to tell me.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Yeah, masses are asses for a reason. That that cliches,
- 36:54Speaker 3: that's that is a fair point made by somebody a
- 36:58Speaker 3: long time ago. And again I go back to my point.
- 37:01Speaker 3: They have great mechanics. I'd like to meet the mechanics,
- 37:04Speaker 3: shake his hands, see what he does. I'm just sorry,
- 37:07Speaker 3: Like it's just, it is what it is.
- 37:09Speaker 2: I think you don't think that women are ugly, they're
- 37:11Speaker 2: just broke.
- 37:11Speaker 3: So you think these women are rich, You're You're not ugly,
- 37:14Speaker 3: you're poor. I listen, I think all women are beautiful.
- 37:16Speaker 3: I think on your beauty. You know, God created you
- 37:20Speaker 3: for a reason. I understand there are some extenuating circumstances
- 37:23Speaker 3: where you might need to get work done. Again, that's
- 37:26Speaker 3: on you. I don't I don't judge anybody in the
- 37:28Speaker 3: sense of saying, hey, I don't think anybody should do
- 37:31Speaker 3: it or not do it. I just say, for me,
- 37:33Speaker 3: it's not a preference of mind. I look at it
- 37:34Speaker 3: and I go that, I'm all right.
- 37:37Speaker 2: You would never consider botox. No, I mean, you're a
- 37:40Speaker 2: good look at guy, so this isn't an issue. But
- 37:41Speaker 2: I'm just sick of what.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Hey, you can maybe argue, you could argue my I'm
- 37:45Speaker 3: a hypocrite because I got my teeth done, but I
- 37:47Speaker 3: had them knocked out. They were once beautiful, and now
- 37:49Speaker 3: I've recreated them beautifully. But I did not want to
- 37:51Speaker 3: get I did not get full veneers. I just went
- 37:54Speaker 3: and got braces and did it the old fashioned way
- 37:56Speaker 3: and tried to straighten them out. But no, I would
- 37:59Speaker 3: never touch botox. I think aging is a is a privilege.
- 38:04Speaker 3: It's something that we all strive to do and live
- 38:06Speaker 3: a long time. And I think you got to wear
- 38:07Speaker 3: those wrinkles proudly.
- 38:08Speaker 6: Baby.
- 38:09Speaker 2: But one guy disagree with it, was timoth Ty Shaloman.
- 38:11Speaker 2: He's like, you know what, I'm in on the generous, let's.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Get hey if you do. I'm also like, let's your
- 38:16Speaker 3: freak flag fly. Whatever you want to do, whatever you like,
- 38:19Speaker 3: you do it as long as you're a good person.
- 38:21Speaker 3: He seems like a good person. I don't know much
- 38:22Speaker 3: about the Kardashians inside the room, but they could be
- 38:25Speaker 3: great people. And they seem to bag some pretty famous people,
- 38:29Speaker 3: so they got something going for him. And they're successful. Listen,
- 38:32Speaker 3: they've built an empire. I'm not saying that. I just
- 38:35Speaker 3: say they have great mechanics for looks, That's what I
- 38:38Speaker 3: call it. I call it mechanics.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Now, all right, Ian bagg is hysterical. You're gonna love
- 38:43Speaker 2: this interview. Do this guy's really funny Cannocks fan.
- 38:45Speaker 1: He's got a great story involving a Baseball Hall of
- 38:48Speaker 1: Famer and also working with a chimp. Our next guest
- 38:57Speaker 1: day hilarious comedian who has performed around the world, appear
- 38:59Speaker 1: on The Tonight Show and The Late Late Show, as
- 39:01Speaker 1: well as on Comedy Central, HBO, and show Time. He
- 39:04Speaker 1: also hosts the hilarious podcast Oran Slices with former NHL
- 39:08Speaker 1: defenseman Jeff Sharples, Ladies and gentlemen.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Ian bag Ian, It's great to see you. Thanks what
- 39:12Speaker 2: you're giving me some time here on unscript.
- 39:14Speaker 4: Thanks for having me your big black panther party show.
- 39:17Speaker 4: We're gonna have a lot of fun.
- 39:19Speaker 2: I don't want to start negative, but you're from Vancouver.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Originally I just oh, he started negative, right, negative here
- 39:26Speaker 2: connects Canadians.
- 39:27Speaker 1: I went, I was at the game in Montreal and
- 39:29Speaker 1: I said, God, there's just a black cloud around this
- 39:31Speaker 1: Vancouver team.
- 39:32Speaker 2: And they said, well, it's that's the fan base.
- 39:34Speaker 1: When you haven't won a Cup and you held with
- 39:35Speaker 1: eighty two and ninety four and twenty eleven.
- 39:38Speaker 2: How tortures is it being a Canucks guy?
- 39:40Speaker 5: I don't.
- 39:41Speaker 6: I don't. I enjoy it. I love it.
- 39:43Speaker 4: I'm not one, you know, like I'm just like here
- 39:45Speaker 4: they go. They're good, they're bad, they're good, they're bad, exciting.
- 39:49Speaker 6: Oh, nobody gets along.
- 39:50Speaker 4: Oh oh the preston Vancouver.
- 39:53Speaker 6: Somebody slept with somebody's wife.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Ooh, you know.
- 39:55Speaker 4: I mean, it's it's always going on. But then you
- 39:57Speaker 4: have to deal. You said you're a Montreal Canadians fan.
- 40:00Speaker 4: That's a lot of pressure right there, trying to look fan.
- 40:04Speaker 4: See well, sitting in the seats and not be in Vancouver.
- 40:07Speaker 4: We'll spill popcorn on each other, you guys. I remember
- 40:10Speaker 4: I went to a Montreal game and they had a
- 40:12Speaker 4: smoking section at one point, you know what I mean,
- 40:14Speaker 4: Like it used to be cool, and it used to
- 40:16Speaker 4: be cool. It was had, it had carpeted walls in there.
- 40:20Speaker 6: I loved it.
- 40:20Speaker 4: It was just you were just going into some Frenchies,
- 40:23Speaker 4: old houses. What you're doing. You're just going going in
- 40:25Speaker 4: there and just talking with Relay Levec and his little cigarette.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Was fantastic, Michelle Grul just a haze of smoking.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Yeah, it was fantastic, and there was there was a buzz.
- 40:36Speaker 4: You knew when when they were about to score there
- 40:40Speaker 4: just all of a sudden, it was just a ring
- 40:41Speaker 4: of excitement going around the building. And of course I
- 40:44Speaker 4: was sitting so far up I had to look at
- 40:46Speaker 4: the TVs to see what was going on on the
- 40:49Speaker 4: scoreboard because you couldn't see the scoreboard. Remember how they
- 40:51Speaker 4: built up a higher the scoreboard.
- 40:53Speaker 6: Yeah, that was fantastic.
- 40:54Speaker 4: And then they just decided to move into a new
- 40:56Speaker 4: building and they turned that into a mall.
- 41:00Speaker 1: I have.
- 41:01Speaker 3: I have been in there. There's a movie theater, there's
- 41:04Speaker 3: out its stores, and there's just a couple of seats
- 41:06Speaker 3: right in the middle when you walk in.
- 41:08Speaker 6: I love it.
- 41:08Speaker 4: I went there and they had they had a comedy
- 41:11Speaker 4: show there. I did a comedy show there, and I said,
- 41:13Speaker 4: I had dreams as a kid of playing this place,
- 41:15Speaker 4: not once as a comedian, you know what I mean.
- 41:18Speaker 1: So it's like saying I spent a month there one night.
- 41:22Speaker 1: It's just you can't take a second ago.
- 41:23Speaker 4: Wait, and it still smells like arena. That's what's great
- 41:26Speaker 4: about it. You can't get that smell out. You know
- 41:28Speaker 4: that that exhaust from the zamboni will leak into the pavement.
- 41:32Speaker 2: It certainly will.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Uh I and I gotta I gotta jump in because
- 41:36Speaker 3: I I follow you on Instagram a little bit, and
- 41:39Speaker 3: you know your your social media, you're you know the
- 41:42Speaker 3: I feel like, how stand up comedies kind of transformed
- 41:46Speaker 3: a little bit with these viral clips and the crowd work.
- 41:49Speaker 3: How how did you kind of take to that and
- 41:51Speaker 3: was it something that you're a little resistant to at first.
- 41:54Speaker 4: So it's been coming down the tubes for a bit.
- 41:57Speaker 4: I noticed people were getting like attention from it. Uh,
- 42:01Speaker 4: the whole industries change quite a bit. And I had
- 42:05Speaker 4: this kid just talk to me one night and he said, hey,
- 42:08Speaker 4: you should be putting clips up and I was like, yeah, yeah, whatever. Anyways,
- 42:12Speaker 4: somebody else introduced me to him again and said, hey,
- 42:14Speaker 4: that guy does.
- 42:15Speaker 6: Really really good stuff.
- 42:16Speaker 4: So I talked to him and he said, he said,
- 42:22Speaker 4: I think you'll get a lot of people with what
- 42:25Speaker 4: you do. People will like to pay attention to it,
- 42:29Speaker 4: right because the kids is always going to be different.
- 42:30Speaker 4: You always got material. I was like, I didn't really
- 42:33Speaker 4: understand it, but I had learned during the pandemic that
- 42:36Speaker 4: the people that I was working with weren't really good.
- 42:40Speaker 4: So I kind of fired everybody and was on my own.
- 42:43Speaker 4: I was like I'll give it a chance, right. I
- 42:45Speaker 4: learned a long time ago mostly resistant to change is
- 42:48Speaker 4: the first letter to be left behind.
- 42:50Speaker 6: So I gave it.
- 42:51Speaker 4: I gave it a shot, and I've got to be
- 42:53Speaker 4: honest with you. Within two weeks, I noticed people were
- 42:56Speaker 4: noticing my stuff on all these different social medias like
- 43:00Speaker 4: YouTube and Instagram and Facebook and TikTok, and it's it's changed.
- 43:06Speaker 4: It's changed my world completely. It's the most it's the
- 43:10Speaker 4: most uh uh. It's the most attention I've ever got
- 43:15Speaker 4: in my career. And I've done a lot of stuff,
- 43:17Speaker 4: and most interesting, I was able to take clips from
- 43:20Speaker 4: my uh special that I put on Amazon Prime, clip
- 43:25Speaker 4: it up and make probably a thousand times more than
- 43:29Speaker 4: I was paid for doing this.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Wow.
- 43:34Speaker 4: I think if you're an entertainer, you should have three
- 43:37Speaker 4: one minute clips a week that you can put out
- 43:39Speaker 4: there for people to do. It doesn't have to be
- 43:41Speaker 4: just just off, you know, off the cuff kind of stuff.
- 43:45Speaker 1: So I also love movies, the fact that Ian You're
- 43:48Speaker 1: an MVP two, which is everyone's favorite film, but a
- 43:51Speaker 1: hockey playing chimp.
- 43:52Speaker 4: So I I had a meeting with this management company
- 43:56Speaker 4: that said, what would you.
- 43:57Speaker 6: Like to do and I was like, I don't know.
- 44:00Speaker 4: You know, I was pretty young at the time, and
- 44:03Speaker 4: I was like, I don't know what I want to do,
- 44:04Speaker 4: and I'd like to make a monkey.
- 44:06Speaker 6: Movie and uh, and I want to I.
- 44:08Speaker 4: Want to work with I want to do a hockey
- 44:10Speaker 4: movie and I want to work with a chimpanzee.
- 44:12Speaker 6: That's what I want to do. And I you know,
- 44:15Speaker 6: I'll do the hockey. Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:17Speaker 4: They came back to me and said, what if we
- 44:18Speaker 4: can put both those things that you want to do.
- 44:22Speaker 6: Into one film?
- 44:23Speaker 4: And I was like, you guys are brilliant, you guys,
- 44:26Speaker 4: you pulled this off.
- 44:28Speaker 6: But they did. Yeah, they did.
- 44:29Speaker 4: And so so I spent six weeks in Vancouver skating
- 44:33Speaker 4: around the ice with a chimpanzee and out of its
- 44:36Speaker 4: mind director yelling out keep it real. H that was
- 44:40Speaker 4: my favorite part, and keep this real. And I'm like,
- 44:43Speaker 4: you're out of your mind, Robert Vince go so uh,
- 44:49Speaker 4: but it was fun.
- 44:49Speaker 6: He could skate and uh.
- 44:51Speaker 4: The chimpanzee had a thing for blondes.
- 44:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:55Speaker 4: So, I don't know if you guys remember they used
- 44:57Speaker 4: to take him around when that movie came out. He
- 45:00Speaker 4: used to go to arenas and skate around the arena
- 45:02Speaker 4: in between the intermissions.
- 45:03Speaker 6: Right, do you remember of that?
- 45:04Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Yeah, you so used to go to the games and
- 45:07Speaker 4: every so often get away and start slapping and stuff
- 45:09Speaker 4: around on trying to get trying to get. Yeah, he's
- 45:15Speaker 4: trying to get into the stands to take down a blonde.
- 45:17Speaker 4: And I don't know if you've ever seen it. Yeah,
- 45:19Speaker 4: if he gotten away, he's gotten blades on his feet
- 45:21Speaker 4: and horny in his mind, and yeah, it would have
- 45:23Speaker 4: been terrible.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Can you tell me about reading any athletes, any sports
- 45:26Speaker 1: charity events and what that experience can be.
- 45:29Speaker 4: Like, here's my best athlete story, best of all time.
- 45:33Speaker 4: So probably about ten years ago, I went mountain biking
- 45:37Speaker 4: and I was I was in Pennsylvania at Seven Springs.
- 45:43Speaker 4: Do you guys know Seven Springs. It's it's just outside
- 45:45Speaker 4: of Pittsburgh. It's a it's a resort ski hill. So
- 45:49Speaker 4: I'm there in the summer doing a corporate for three days.
- 45:52Speaker 4: I'm doing three nights of shows for this place called Sheets,
- 45:57Speaker 4: And the first the second day, I go mountain biking
- 46:02Speaker 4: and it starts it's to pour raining. While I'm mountain
- 46:06Speaker 4: biking and I'm by myself and I'm like, all right,
- 46:09Speaker 4: we'll just wrap it up on this right, and it
- 46:11Speaker 4: just gets.
- 46:12Speaker 6: That sweet rain on grass.
- 46:14Speaker 4: I have to take two turns on grass and on
- 46:17Speaker 4: the first grass, I flew up the cliff and I'm
- 46:23Speaker 4: just like you just you hear that pop and you're like, yep,
- 46:25Speaker 4: know that. Recognize that I've broken my ankle, right, So right,
- 46:30Speaker 4: So now I got to get back up on the
- 46:31Speaker 4: bike and finish the ride right on.
- 46:34Speaker 3: A because here, once you get out there, you got
- 46:35Speaker 3: to get back.
- 46:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you got to get back. And I'm by
- 46:37Speaker 4: myself because that's the way I do things. I'm like, yeah,
- 46:40Speaker 4: nothing's ever going to change.
- 46:41Speaker 6: I'll be fine. I'm stuck at sea, help me.
- 46:45Speaker 4: So so I get the ride done after wiping out
- 46:49Speaker 4: two more times because I can't put.
- 46:50Speaker 3: Any like I'm trying to be right, I just one
- 46:54Speaker 3: down there.
- 46:54Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:55Speaker 4: So I drop off the bike and they're like, how
- 46:56Speaker 4: was riding. I'm like, fantastic, I'll drop that off. I go, okay,
- 47:01Speaker 4: I guess I'll just go I'll go for a massage,
- 47:03Speaker 4: is what I'll do. So I go for a massage
- 47:05Speaker 4: because it's only three hours from the show. So like
- 47:08Speaker 4: to tell my show I'm like, I got to do
- 47:11Speaker 4: the show. So I I go and I do the
- 47:15Speaker 4: show on a broken leg and a broken ankle, and
- 47:18Speaker 4: then afterwards I go to the hospital, right, so so
- 47:22Speaker 4: so I do it. And then the next night I
- 47:24Speaker 4: have to do another show and I'm on crutches and
- 47:27Speaker 4: stuff like that, and I'm just like, fantastic.
- 47:30Speaker 6: Well I didn't.
- 47:31Speaker 4: I just kept going, like I went home, went to
- 47:33Speaker 4: the next gig, and kept just kept going, just kept working.
- 47:36Speaker 6: And sure enough, one one day, I'm got a I'm.
- 47:41Speaker 4: On the plane and I'm sitting next to oh my god,
- 47:45Speaker 4: I can't believe I'm blanking on his name, A cal
- 47:47Speaker 4: Ripken sitting next Yeah, I'm sitting next right, and I
- 47:51Speaker 4: don't I don't say a word.
- 47:53Speaker 6: To him the whole the whole flight.
- 47:55Speaker 4: And you know, I got this ankle boot on, and
- 47:59Speaker 4: at the end of the flight, I just look at
- 48:00Speaker 4: my go. I just want to let you know that
- 48:01Speaker 4: I've never missed a day of work, right.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Two thousand and six or two consecutive games, Luke Harrett,
- 48:08Speaker 1: And you're there with the bus today.
- 48:10Speaker 4: And im and I'm going to work, and I'm going
- 48:11Speaker 4: to I'm going to do shows and I'm like, I
- 48:13Speaker 4: just want to let you know I've never missed. I've
- 48:15Speaker 4: never missed a day of work. And he goes, I'm
- 48:18Speaker 4: sure my job was much more fun than yours, and
- 48:21Speaker 4: I go, actually, no, not.
- 48:23Speaker 3: Really, actually got you beat there now?
- 48:26Speaker 4: Actually actually at the same time, I'm making league minimum
- 48:29Speaker 4: and I'm having a lot of fun once again.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Check out Orange Slices with former NHL defenseman Jeff Sharpaule's
- 48:34Speaker 1: This is Ian bag Dude.
- 48:36Speaker 2: This was awesome. Thanks so much for the stories, Thanks
- 48:37Speaker 2: so much for the last Thanks.
- 48:38Speaker 4: For having me on your show. I hope it's okay
- 48:41Speaker 4: that I swore.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Man Eden was awesome. What a great story, Jay.
- 48:53Speaker 3: He also a bag man.
- 48:54Speaker 1: The bagman, I mean, the funny guy, great storyteller and
- 48:58Speaker 1: a gamer. Right fighting through this corporate events, You can't
- 49:00Speaker 1: can't say no to those, right Maclin. Celebrity your boy
- 49:03Speaker 1: is offering personal video message on a cameo. Three hundred
- 49:06Speaker 1: dollars a pop, a little bit of inflation. Okay, he's
- 49:09Speaker 1: gonna be working all the year.
- 49:10Speaker 3: I'm just here my basically, but hell, he's trying to
- 49:11Speaker 3: beat those taxes.
- 49:12Speaker 1: As a couple of prominent celebrities. I just I'm s
- 49:15Speaker 1: curious with you and me.
- 49:16Speaker 2: I found cameo had a moment in like twenty nineteen.
- 49:19Speaker 2: I was getting maybe one every couple weeks.
- 49:21Speaker 1: I believe my cameo has slowed precipitously, but I do
- 49:24Speaker 1: like the idea all getting aside of being able to
- 49:27Speaker 1: interact with somebody that you admire and for a relatively
- 49:30Speaker 1: small fee.
- 49:30Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 49:31Speaker 3: He is a generational talent, so it might be this
- 49:34Speaker 3: might be buying him low right now. I mean I'm
- 49:36Speaker 3: at thirty bucks. I once went to five Bucks just
- 49:38Speaker 3: because I was like, I wanted to give back. I
- 49:41Speaker 3: was getting a ton. Yeah, sometimes you know a lot
- 49:44Speaker 3: of the same. I actually had one, and I'll give
- 49:47Speaker 3: you a funny quick cameo story. So I was out
- 49:49Speaker 3: on the road and I was I, you know, went
- 49:53Speaker 3: to the bar. I had a couple of cocktails, and
- 49:55Speaker 3: I came back and I was in my room watching
- 49:56Speaker 3: a movie.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Let me knock out some cameos.
- 49:58Speaker 3: Well, I'm sucked, and I knocked out a cameo and
- 50:01Speaker 3: it was this guy was an Oregon Ducks fan. And
- 50:05Speaker 3: I literally had to track down the video and be like, sir,
- 50:07Speaker 3: can you delete that? And we've like kind of become
- 50:10Speaker 3: friends and chatted since great guy deleted it, but he
- 50:12Speaker 3: sent me the video back. I was like oreget Ducks,
- 50:16Speaker 3: go Ducks. Cock cock cock at like two in the
- 50:21Speaker 3: morning in Winnipeg, and I was like, woke up in
- 50:24Speaker 3: the morning and I was like, oh my god, did
- 50:26Speaker 3: I just send a cameo out trying to pay for
- 50:29Speaker 3: my bar tab? And you know, we didn't have a
- 50:31Speaker 3: game the next day. It was a practice day, so
- 50:33Speaker 3: did nobody come for me? But but this guy like
- 50:36Speaker 3: basically like messaged me on cameo, was like, hey, man,
- 50:38Speaker 3: like I can delete this if you want, Like this.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Is kind of an embarrassment to you. I'm not sure.
- 50:43Speaker 3: He's like I don't really want this, and I was like,
- 50:45Speaker 3: I'm so sorry, Like, hey, I'll give you another one.
- 50:47Speaker 3: I'll get your tickets to a game. I end up
- 50:48Speaker 3: getting tickets to a game. Nice, super super great guy,
- 50:51Speaker 3: huge Oregon Ducks fan. So and yeah, that was my
- 50:54Speaker 3: cameo story.
- 50:55Speaker 2: So stay sober when it comes to cameo messages.
- 50:57Speaker 3: Please.
- 50:58Speaker 1: It's another old major players NHL stars Jeremy Swayman, Blake Coleman,
- 51:02Speaker 1: Patrick Laney doesn't with his fiance Jordan, Sam Reinhart, and
- 51:05Speaker 1: Charlie Coyle.
- 51:06Speaker 2: It's pretty cool.
- 51:07Speaker 3: Cool, Well it's I love it for you know, giving
- 51:09Speaker 3: out happy birthdays and talking to fans and giving back.
- 51:12Speaker 3: It's a cool, little personalized message. I think it's good.
- 51:14Speaker 3: I don't think you should be charged two grand I
- 51:16Speaker 3: think it's something that you know.
- 51:18Speaker 1: I love your idea of the five dollars. Hey, the
- 51:20Speaker 1: five dollars for a week. Well, let's just get after
