- Lucas: Hei, and welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and this is episode 154. Luna: Hei hei! I'm Luna. So glad to be here again. Lucas, what are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're diving into a really useful verb: 'å vise' — to show. It's one of those verbs you'll use all the time. Luna: Å vise. To show. Okay, I like it. So, 'å vise' is the infinitive? Lucas: Exactly. And if Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Norwegian, you know we keep it ad-free. A few listeners support us through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo, and that's what keeps these episodes coming. Luna: Yeah, it really helps. Okay, back to 'å vise'. How do I say 'I show'? Lucas: You say 'jeg viser'. Let's break it down: jeg — I, viser — show. Jeg viser. Luna: Jeg viser. Jeg viser. So if I'm showing a picture, I'd say 'jeg viser et bilde'? Lucas: Exactly right. Jeg viser et bilde. Nice. And if you want to ask someone to show you something, you say 'kan du vise meg' — can you show me. Luna: Kan du vise meg. So polite. Kan du vise meg veien? Can you show me the way? Lucas: Perfect example. Kan du vise meg veien. And a shorter, more direct version is just 'vis meg' — show me. Luna: Vis meg. That's like a command, right? Like 'vis meg bildet' — show me the picture. Lucas: Exactly. And when you're the one showing, you can say 'jeg viser deg' — I show you. Jeg viser deg veien. Luna: Jeg viser deg. So helpful. Let me try a full sentence: Kan du vise meg hvor bussen går? Lucas: That's a great one. Can you show me where the bus goes? Perfect. So let's practice. Repeat after me: å vise. Luna: Å vise. Lucas: Jeg viser. Luna: Jeg viser. Lucas: Kan du vise meg? Luna: Kan du vise meg? Lucas: Vis meg. Luna: Vis meg. Lucas: Jeg viser deg. Luna: Jeg viser deg. This is really sticking. I can imagine using 'kan du vise meg' at a museum or something. Lucas: Exactly. Or 'vis meg' when you're pointing at a map. Let's do a quick scene. Imagine you're at a friend's house and they have a new phone. Luna: Okay, I'll say: Kan du vise meg den nye telefonen din? Lucas: And I'll answer: Ja, jeg viser deg. Her er den. Luna: Oh, that's smooth. Jeg viser deg. So I'm learning by doing. Lucas: That's the idea. So to recap: å vise, jeg viser, kan du vise meg, vis meg, jeg viser deg. Five phrases, tons of use. Luna: I feel like I can actually use these tomorrow. Takk, Lucas! Lucas: Vær så god. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time. Ha det bra! Luna: Ha det bra! And don't forget to support us if you can at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo.
