- 0:00It's still Wowcome everybody. Welcome to this week's edition is The Real Show Show
- 0:21EPISO number seven hundred and ten, September twenty first, two thousand and twenty
- 0:25three. Welcome to this week's edition of the ass teen You. I am
- 0:32one half of the show. I am Jeff Peck, joined every single week
- 0:36with my cost one on Dtor Trey Franklin, Doctor Trey. Where were you
- 0:40in the Rock Return? My Frand? I mean that the Sean Connery movie,
- 0:46James Gandel Ceni. I think that was nineteen nineteen. Dwayne, Dwayne
- 0:53the Rock Johnson. Oh ye, we're doing We're doing the USFL podcast.
- 0:58We're doing the back talking about the USFL XFL merger. No no, no,
- 1:03no, no, no, we're not. That's not the We were
- 1:07saving that for Christmas time. Oh yeah yeah. Oh so The Rock and
- 1:11Pat on Pat McAfee's show. Yeah yeah, that's one part. It's one
- 1:15part, the other part being Smack it Down. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:19So I was it was Friday night. I was actually watching Big Bang Theory.
- 1:25So he runs a Big Bang Theory. Wow, Okay. Every now
- 1:29and then, like if I'm having a bad day, I just watched Comedies
- 1:30to feel better, so I hear you. Yeah, but uh I will
- 1:36I saw I saw the clips afterwards. It was fantastic, So yeah,
- 1:40that was great. I just wondered, like, so does the Rock is
- 1:42Pat McAfee wearing Rocks clothing now? Or is Rock wearing Pat McAfee clothing now?
- 1:49Who warred first? I think Pat McAfee's wearing the Rocks clothing, right,
- 1:55Well. I did read that Rock had say when they talked to Vince
- 1:57last year they were drinking Rocks to keep. So I just didn't know if
- 2:00every because Rock's got like seven brands out there, you know, so you
- 2:05know, Pat McAfee could learn for the best for his braining as well.
- 2:07But yeah, like everybody wore black, everybody wore that is Pat McAfee.
- 2:13I mean, that is certainly what he does. Rock was wearing his underarm
- 2:16or Project Rock stuff through his nice jacket into the crowd. So yeah,
- 2:21it was. It was a pretty eventful Friday Friday afternoon, Doctor Trap Rock
- 2:25on the Pat McAfee show, Part one of this, he comes out and
- 2:30says that a Wrestlemany thirty nine match with Roman Rains was locked in and then
- 2:36it was like booked almost fifteen months in advance, like that was the plan,
- 2:40and then that as it got closer, they were looking for something that
- 2:44would make it special and they couldn't find that something, so they decided to
- 2:46reverse course or maybe the Rock had another movie. Nonetheless, that was the
- 2:53first time you heard it from Rock's mouth that that match for Rustle Many thirty
- 2:55nine against Roman Rains was quote locked in. I was pretty surprised to hear
- 3:01that. It's a it's the thing that we've been thinking about for a while,
- 3:05like that was the direction they were gonna go, but you just never
- 3:07know what w W wait. But to hear Rock say and I was like,
- 3:09wow, Okay, there's something to this now. Yeah, because we
- 3:14don't really hear about matches that were locked in that got scrapped. You know,
- 3:19we don't really hear about those. I mean really, there's only been
- 3:22a handful in history that can think if I know, at one point,
- 3:25was it WrestleMania five? Was it five? Was Hogan said? Justice Macho
- 3:30Man and Flair seven? Eight? That was eight in Indiana? And and
- 3:38Flair has said that you know it was supposed to be him and Hogan and
- 3:44then Vincere. First course, and went with Savage Flair, Hogan Justice.
- 3:49Uh, you know the Eddie Greyer Shawn Michaels WrestleMania twenty six match, I
- 3:53believe is one that has been talked about that that was the direction they were
- 3:57gonna go. And then, you know, we couldn't go that route.
- 4:00So I'd actually hear another wrestler come out, a wrestler come out and say,
- 4:02hey, this was locked in and four fifteen months and then we couldn't
- 4:08find an angle to come up or find it something. I love a quote.
- 4:12We couldn't find something special to make it work. Yeah, I don't
- 4:16know what that's about. I don't know if that meant like Rock was gonna
- 4:18win to me, like what is specially because I mean storyline wise, I
- 4:23mean you came up with a gray one, like tying Rock's mom into it.
- 4:27Yeah, you know that would have been a great storyline for that.
- 4:29And then plus we saw it teased on the TV show Young Rock, you
- 4:32know, like it was alluded to on that show, like yeah, it
- 4:36was like all kind of saw that the tea leaves were out there, but
- 4:41when somebody comes down and goes, yeah, we couldn't figure ou how to
- 4:43make it special. It's like, that's weird. Was it the was it
- 4:46the money? Like the storyline wise, I mean, dear god, there's
- 4:49so many ways you go that to make it special. But is it a
- 4:53like to me that just came down to money or who or creative? So
- 4:58that's a little bit weird. But actually it's like you have something to come
- 5:00out and say this is where we're gonna go. It was locked in.
- 5:03We just couldn't find the special sauce to make your work is a little surprising.
- 5:10It money, creative or timing, I feel like is all around.
- 5:14And I think with rock schedule, WWE's at their mercy. It was something
- 5:19to hear him say that. And then, of course the follow up to
- 5:23all that entire thing is what about restumning forty in Philadelphia? And he is
- 5:28open to a WrestleMania forty match. So that was the second part of that
- 5:31Friday where it's like thirty nine was supposed to happen against Roman. He's open
- 5:35a WrestleMania forty presumably Roman versus Rock, Like, what else would it be
- 5:41at this point, being that he came out and said that publicly Philadelphia April
- 5:46twenty twenty four, doctor Trey Rock is open to it. There is a
- 5:51strike in Hollywood right now, hence probably the reason why we'll talk about the
- 5:55third part here momentarily. It's definitely the main reason why what is proclaiming the
- 6:00greatest of all time is back on regular programming presently as well. But where
- 6:05do you put this likelihood? You've got Rock saying locked in for thirty nine
- 6:10they couldn't find that special thing so it got scrapped open or wrestluming e forty.
- 6:15What's the percentage chance that Rock is wrestling in a couple of months.
- 6:19I'm still have fifty fifty, because I mean, the writers strike can only
- 6:23go on for so long. I mean, people like we've had these,
- 6:27we've had the writer strike before, usually a last about three to four months
- 6:31before people go, hey, we don't have any decent TV or movies coming
- 6:36out right now, we probably should get this thing corrected. Yeah, it's
- 6:42got to me like if if timing wise, timing like this like now with
- 6:47the righter strike going on and we're only was we were in October a Rebot
- 6:51line towards and one, two, three, four or five or about six
- 6:55months, I don't see the ryer strike going six months, you know,
- 6:58so then the timing becomes any again, because you know as soon as the
- 7:00writer strike is over, there's gonna be just a wash of just a flood
- 7:05of things going into production. Ideally, to me, I guess it's fifty
- 7:13and fifty because if if you couldn't get it done last year because of timing
- 7:15or creative I don't know how you can say, hey, six months out,
- 7:21we're more than fifty percent. So the Rocks said, quote, there's
- 7:26restumaning in Philadelphia. I'm open the fans deserve something incredible and unprecedented ed quote,
- 7:32So something incredible and unprecedented. What is the only thing in Rock's mind
- 7:38which is incredible? I don't know necessarily enough, I'd say unprecedented. But
- 7:43is what Rock is thinking? Rock versus Roman? Is that incredible and unprecedented
- 7:47in your mind? Should they do WrestleMania forty I mean it's incredible in the
- 7:51sense of the same thing that you thought of ten years ago. We had
- 7:55WrestleMania twenty nine and thirty with Rock and Sena. It was kind of the
- 7:59generation clash. Unprecedented in the sense of maybe it's a fame. I mean,
- 8:05we just we just had father versus son last year, So I don't
- 8:07know if we can do if cousins is unprecedented, but you know it would
- 8:13be up there. I mean, could you do something very similar we had
- 8:18a few years ago with nWo and d X in the sense of in Anawa
- 8:22family civil war type thing breakout where certain members of the Nawa family are coming
- 8:28out to support Rock, some are coming out to support Roman, and you
- 8:31see the basic of the whole family layout. You'll be out there. That
- 8:33would be unprecedented and and special and maybe meet all the criteria. Maybe you
- 8:41get you know, Rock and Jimmy against you know, Rock and Jimmy against
- 8:46Roman, and Rock and Jay versus Jimmy and Roman, like that would be
- 8:52different and unique as well. Maybe you get a Rock and Ava against Naya
- 8:58and Roman. You know, that would be unpresident too. So there's ways
- 9:01to do it to make it unpresident special. But you know, if it's
- 9:05just Rock versus Roman, yeah, that'd to be special and unpresident. But
- 9:07in a sense we've kind of seen it with Hogan, Rock and Rock and
- 9:11see it with these like generational matchups. So I don't know, I don't
- 9:15know where I put it in that hierarchy. I think there's a lot of
- 9:18fans probably listen to this podcasts that are thinking at rustamaning forties should be the
- 9:22rematch of Cody Rhodes versus Roman Reigns a year later, and that should be
- 9:24the moment that Cody wins and the title has dropped to Cody and Roman finally
- 9:30loses. If they go in that Roman Rock direction, I would think that
- 9:35Roman retains and this title reign continues to nearly be four years come August twenty
- 9:41twenty four. What is the fan and you want to see at russellmaning forty
- 9:46for Roman reigns. Who do you want to see Roman reigns face in Philadelphia?
- 9:50Is it Rock, is it Cody or is it someone else? So
- 9:54I'm leaning Rock in Roman because of not only the family dynamic and you know,
- 10:01generationals of but also like I remember the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia that Roman
- 10:05one and Rock came out and the crowd and Philly bowed both of them out
- 10:09of the building. Like I kind of want to see what the Philadelphia crowd
- 10:13would do. So it's a Rock and Roman, I mean, I'm sure
- 10:16they'd be all on Rock side and everything else. But just that memory alone
- 10:20of them being inside I believe. I don't know if that was Lincoln Financial,
- 10:24if that was the Spectrum, the stadium they used in Philadelphier for the
- 10:28seventy six ers, but just that sound and that feeling of seeing like Rock
- 10:33holding Roman's hand and them booing the crap out of both of them. I
- 10:39just love a Philadelphia crowd. I just love. I want to through the
- 10:41drama. That's what I want. I want to Philadelphia crowd to create drama
- 10:43WrestleMania. Wow, that's true that Royal Rumble was in Philly. For some
- 10:48reason, I felt like it was Pittsburgh. I mean, it's Pennsylvania,
- 10:52Philly crowd. Was that a Philly crowd? Wow? That would be great
- 10:54A full circle moment, like ninety five percent sure that was Philly because I
- 10:58don't really, I don't know. Now you got me a questioning, Jeff,
- 11:03and you're the you're the historian about I was pretty sure that was Philly.
- 11:07Let's see, it was the twenty fifteen Royal Rumble, right, I
- 11:09believe, So you were right, wells Fargo Center. It was the year
- 11:13before that was twenty fourteen. That was in Pittsburgh. So you're absolutely right.
- 11:16Wells Fargo Center in philadelp That would be a great full circle. I
- 11:20liked that little tidbit, Doctor Trey. See every now that I have good
- 11:24ideas. I mean, it's not as good as them fighting over the Rocks
- 11:26mom, but uh, that was supposed to be the acknowledgement ceremony that I
- 11:31had pitched that idea. Like, I was like, I know, I'm
- 11:33not supposed to do this. However, what if this is what happens?
- 11:37And you were like, man, that was that was something and who knows,
- 11:41maybe that was the plan. I don't know, used wives and daughters,
- 11:48bringing somebody, I mean a Shelton's mama. Uh, but bringing the
- 11:52Rocks mom indeo something like that, that would be fantastic. Yeah. You
- 11:54just wanted to see something where like Roman pushed it too far and it was
- 11:58like you will acknowledge me and is forcing the Rock's mom to do it.
- 12:03You know, people would be like, oh shit, he is coming.
- 12:07This is not He's not gonna not allow that to happen. There are very
- 12:13few wrestlers that get me hyped. Doctor Trey. Rock is number one.
- 12:18It's Rock, It's Austin. I always was more of a Rock guy than
- 12:22an Austin guy. And Rock being talking about wrestling, being involved in wrestling,
- 12:30I always get hyped for it. It was the wrestling. I went
- 12:33to a wrestling in twenty nine. I made a point to go to Survivor
- 12:37Series two thousand and twelve when Rock returned an MSG to tag with John Cena
- 12:45against formiable tag team known as the Awesome Truth. Rock gets me hyped.
- 12:50So I saw all those those quotes and clips from Pat mcafe's show Friday afternoon
- 12:58and then Friday begins and go get some dinner, hang out, tune off
- 13:03of social media, what have you. And I totally missed that Sean ross
- 13:07Sap of Fightful had tweeted out that unconfirmed reports from a staffer on the Pat
- 13:13McAfee show stated that Pat McAfee and The Rock would be making an appearance on
- 13:18SmackDown on Friday night. I did not see that. I tuned into Friday
- 13:24Night SmackDown late, put on the DVR. Saw McAfee was hyped up,
- 13:30not even clicking at that moment, I'm like, wait, they're in Colorado,
- 13:33Like, Rock isn't that far away from the show, And when he
- 13:37says the people's champs line or you know what that means when you talk about
- 13:41the people and Rock came out, I was like, this is this is
- 13:43one of those moments. This is a great moment. And seeing him return
- 13:48and then the backstage stuff with Sina and then Sena tweeted this out. I
- 13:54think he tweeted out and it was absolutely perfect. It was like, this
- 14:01is one of those moments that we remember why we're wrestling fans to begin with.
- 14:07It's very few and far between anymore, especially when you get older,
- 14:11like Doctor Trey and I do, and you've seen everything under the sun and
- 14:15professional wrestling for you know, the last forty forty five fifty years that we've
- 14:22been watching professional wrestling like this is it's few and far between, Like when
- 14:26Steve Boston wrestled Kevin Owens at Wrestlemaning thirty eight, Like I had that same
- 14:33moment where I like escaped reality. That's what I got when Rock returned on
- 14:37SmackDown this past Friday night, and I get it. It's nostalgia. It's
- 14:41the generation of wrestling that I didn't necessarily grow up with but probably has one
- 14:50of the biggest stamps in my life as that attitude. Era absolutely loved every
- 14:54minute of it, Doctor Trey, and it was a very special moment where
- 14:58was the raw surprise wrestling fans is past Friday Night. It also reminds us,
- 15:05and I don't mean us as in the older gjenergy, but just wrestling
- 15:07fans in general, that certain guys just have that hit factor and just get
- 15:13it and understand crowds and understands their own energy. And guys like Rock even
- 15:20Pat McAfee, Like I mean, you're talking about guys that you just get
- 15:24hyped for seeing. I do get hype for Pat McAfee as well, Like
- 15:28he just has like he's like a kid in a candy store. And Rock
- 15:31is the same way in Austin when he comes out, and you know,
- 15:35even to maybe a little bit lesser Stanse even Hogan when he's out there in
- 15:37the rings. Some of these guys that have been around forever just they get
- 15:41it. And especially when you're kind of in your the latter stages of your
- 15:46career or in your retirement stages, you don't get those moments very often.
- 15:48So when you get the opportunity, you kind of take it all in and
- 15:52make it even more special and soak every ounce of energy from that because this
- 15:58guy tied you over for a while, Like you know, even Sena now
- 16:00is Sena comes out. You just you can tell those guys who're just having
- 16:03a ball, and that energy always translates. And sometimes when we watch our
- 16:08favorite guys and it feels like they're kind of going through the motions, they
- 16:11kind of I don't say they they're plateauing in a sense, but you kind
- 16:15of feel that. And we've talked about the other guys in the past,
- 16:18or you know, you get the Owens insane wrestling each other and you can
- 16:22tell they're just having fun. You know, that energy is so like contagious
- 16:29and you just go like doesn't matter what you're doing, you just stop everything.
- 16:32You're like, this is just fun. And those are the moments we
- 16:34as wrestling fans crave. Is just when you see the guys having fun,
- 16:40being themselves and not really giving a crap, like they're just out there just
- 16:45to entertain the crowd and have fun. Like those are the moments that we
- 16:48remember the most. Yeah, it's it's pretty cool. I think you summed
- 16:52it up pretty perfectly there, Like you could tell on their faces how great
- 16:57of a moment of it is. You could tell on the fans faces how
- 17:00great of a moment it is, and you kind of just want to live
- 17:03in the moment a little bit because those types of moments are few and far
- 17:07between, because as people's careers advanced forward, as Dwayne Johnson and John Cena
- 17:18become busier with their work schedules, there are very few instances you get to
- 17:23see those guys on television, let alone at the same time. But on
- 17:29you know, was it Friday September fifteenth, we had the Rock and John
- 17:37Cena twenty twenty three on the same episode of SmackDown. I would have never
- 17:45guessed that a year ago, a couple of months ago, a couple of
- 17:49weeks ago. So it's like you get done watching SmackDown, which was a
- 17:55solid episode, and you just go, holy shit, Rock and Sina were
- 17:59on the same episode. Not taped, not pre taped, not sending in
- 18:03videos. They were there, presently there and it's not Heading and Wrestle any
- 18:10season. Very cool moment, Doctor Trey, and again, I think the
- 18:14perfect way to sum it up, one of those moments where you remember why
- 18:18you're arresting fans. So it was cool to see the Rocks comments and then
- 18:22appearance this past Friday as he made his return to w w A and who
- 18:26knows, maybe he makes his return again. What are we taking here?
- 18:30Doctor Trey? Over under? What are we September twenty first, over under
- 18:37four and a half months for the next appearance of Dwayne the Rock Johnson in
- 18:44w WA. I'm gonna go under because for some reason, I'm gonna say
- 18:49that I think we might get another Seen a Rock tag match. What if
- 18:53you got seen in Rock against the Waller in theory, I'm pretty cool.
- 19:00That would be very cool. You know, Rock comes out, he's there
- 19:03with Theory. Theory has a tie in with Sena from you know, WrestleMania.
- 19:07We just saw Sena on the Waller Show. Like, to me,
- 19:08that'd be a good kind of maybe a passing of the torch, but two
- 19:15guys that get in the rough from two legends, you know. And if
- 19:19you're Rock, if you if you're already playing on having a WrestleMania match,
- 19:22don't you need to kind of you know, need a match in between to
- 19:26be that buffer to kind of get you to get the rust off, so
- 19:29to speak. A good little tag match with John and Damn I forgot about
- 19:33them to teaming up against the Awesome Truth, and I think that was what
- 19:37my favorite tag teams with that little Era a little I love to heal our
- 19:41Truth, but I totally forgot we got Sena and Rock tagging up at that
- 19:44point. That's how they That's how he came back for the first time in
- 19:48like eight years. I think it was from WrestleMania twenty to then Survivor Series
- 19:52twenty twelve, and that was the night that Seampunk won the championship from Del
- 19:56Rio and started the four hundred thirty four day Rain as w E champion.
- 20:02So who knows, but great points there. Again, you have the Rock
- 20:04in the ring with Awesome theory. Later in the night you had seen in
- 20:07the ring with Grayson Waller piggybacking off of your idea. Maybe like an LA
- 20:12night Rock Scena versus Miss Waller theory could be something that would make sense if
- 20:19schedules aligned as well. So cool stuff going on in w with this past
- 20:23Friday, and again one of those moments that made you feel like, damn,
- 20:27this is why I'm a wrestling fan, this is why I watch this.
- 20:30Shiit Switching Gears PWI released their five hundred. Their top ten wrestlers list
- 20:37is the stuff that we annually look at here on SRTU each year. So
- 20:41I'm gonna go through the list ten to one and we'll get your thoughts here.
- 20:44Doctor Trey on the list, NFPWI got it right this year coming in
- 20:48number ten from wwis Cody Rhodes coming in at number nine, and I know
- 20:52Doctor Trey's gotta like this from Impact Wrestling. Josh Alexander coming at number eight
- 20:56from AW, Orange Cassidy. I love that call coming in at number seven
- 21:02from New Japan because it's Go Okada coming in at number six from AW,
- 21:06the current AW World Champion m JF unless he loses at Grand Slam. We
- 21:10are recordings before Grand Slam coming at number five from Triple A. He O
- 21:15del Vi Kingo coming to number four from w E. Gunther coming to number
- 21:19three from AW, John Moxley coming to number two from w E. Roman
- 21:25Reigns coming in at number one from WW, seth ron So, Cody at
- 21:30ten, Alexander at nine, Orange Cassidy eight, Okada seven, MJF six,
- 21:33if A, Kingo, five, gun Through four, Moxley three,
- 21:37Reigns two Rollins one did p W, I get it right, doctor try,
- 21:42I mean not entirely. I mean they're top tens. I mean it's
- 21:47hard to argue with the people in the top ten. I mean I would
- 21:49have moved a couple of things around within that top ten. But I mean,
- 21:55really you start going outside of the people you mentioned, it's like there's
- 21:59not really somebody that jumps out that. Oh my god, I can't believe
- 22:03they left that guy out of the top ten. Maybe maybe a Snana,
- 22:08you know, maybe because I mean, isn't he the current new Japan champion.
- 22:11He is ye champ and he's been the champ for a little while.
- 22:15But you know, name value wise, I think they're ten are higher than
- 22:19him. But you know, me personally, I would have maybe flipped Orange
- 22:23Cassidy and Josh Alexanderwers because Josh had the Impact World chap for quite a long
- 22:30time and Orange Cassidy for even though having the international titles great, it's still
- 22:34not a main event spot. But you can be said, maybe if the
- 22:40aid of mid card is as high as the Impact main event pictures so and
- 22:44then definitely I would have flipped Roman in SETH. I mean that's just Roman
- 22:48is still the reason why everybody seems to turning, Like, I don't know
- 22:49anybody watch tunes in just to watch seth on Raw, But I do know
- 22:53people who specifically watch SmackDown and see what the bloodline is doing. So maybe
- 22:57he switches and then I don't know. Do you rank MJF behind mox I
- 23:03think so, yeah. Mox have been the workhorse of AW but Mjf's kind
- 23:08of the guy. I mean, they just built the biggest show of the
- 23:11year around him JF. So I mean that's that you have to say something
- 23:17for that as well. So I think the last couple of months have made
- 23:21have helped save MJF character wise, for you know, the amount of time
- 23:23he's wrestling, right, I mean the biggest thing was he didn't wrestle all
- 23:26that much, which may have been you know, the planned or part of
- 23:33the heel character. Moxley is the workhorse. I think I would move I
- 23:38think i'd move Orange Cassidy up Doctor Try. I think i'd have Orange Cassidy
- 23:42knocking on the top five. You want to talk about workhorses, I thought,
- 23:47I'm happy that Orange Cassdy is getting acknowledge in the top ten, but
- 23:49I would I think i'd move him up. I think i'd move Cody up
- 23:55a lot more as well. I don't think i'd have him at ten,
- 24:00but I think I'm okay. I think I'm fine with the top four.
- 24:04I think I'm good with Rollins at one, Reigns two, Moxley three,
- 24:07Gun through four. I think I think i'd go Cody five, Orange,
- 24:15Cassidy six, MJF seven. Do you have Elvi Kingo in your top ten?
- 24:22I don't. I don't. I'm a fan of his work, I
- 24:25am, and I know we have the thing when he made his initial like
- 24:29aw debut and I was like, this is how I felt when I watched
- 24:32Raymisterio in ninety five ninety six and ww and you disagreed. But I don't
- 24:37think the Kingo is a top five wrestler. I don't watch Triple A all
- 24:41that much, so that's just what I'm going off of. Do I think
- 24:45he's a top ten star? Maybe? Maybe? I don't know. I
- 24:51don't. I have not seen enough of his work and follow him to sit
- 24:53here and say that I think he is a top five wrestler, let alone
- 24:57a top ten. Yeah, because I don't know what they're basing their rankings
- 25:02off of because every year they kind of they're vague in what they how they
- 25:06rank stuff. I'm like, of course, yeah, if you're going off
- 25:08pure entering talent, is it best quote unquote professional wrestler slash pors entertainer?
- 25:15Like where does it fall? Like? You know, like I do I
- 25:18think the King goes a bad wrestler? No? Do I think that the
- 25:22people who follow him kind of get him more than I do? Yeah,
- 25:23because you actually probably know the storyline, the history things like that. Like
- 25:30that's That's where I'm liking. I mean, but when you look at like
- 25:32overall for the year, do you put up the King go ahead of a
- 25:34Sammy's Ain and Kevin Ellens? You know? Do you put them ahead of
- 25:37a Jay Husso? You know, do you had to put ahead of even
- 25:41Austin Theory who had a great run through Shamus had a solid run? You
- 25:47know, like uh, you know Darby like Darby's run, you know,
- 25:51like things like the T and you know the different T and T champions like
- 25:56some O job and for nine months almost a year, I think now,
- 26:00so there are some guys that on paper I probably put ahead of the KINGO.
- 26:04But then again I also know that they like to put people on top
- 26:07ten that will shock folks and get people talking about it. Plus you put
- 26:12your BLA guy in there, does that increase your Hispanic readership? You know,
- 26:18a new japan guy and does that increase your Japanese readership? So I
- 26:22know they try to do that as well to kind of help boost their ratings.
- 26:25But hey, I mean, hey, doctor try But I mean I
- 26:26think there's like a glaring on mission as we talked through this, where the
- 26:30fuck is Will Osprey? Uh, he's British so they don't count. I
- 26:36mean he but I know we're right, you're kidding around here, but like
- 26:38he deserves to be in this, He's like a top five guy. Yeah,
- 26:42Osprey, I'd put Osprey in over you know, the KINGO. I
- 26:47know you love Orange, but I think you love Osprey more than Rage Cassidy.
- 26:51Yeah, I'd probably I would probably round off now that I threw it
- 26:55out there. As we talked this out, I think I would probably put
- 26:56Osprey like I think i'd put him. I think i'd put him ahead of
- 27:02Gun through at four, put Gun through five. No, I don't,
- 27:04I don't know if I put ahead of Gun through I mean that. I
- 27:07mean Osprey has had a phenomenal year. I know he's been battling injury New
- 27:11Japan Cup, he was her, but I mean Osbrey in the last three
- 27:15months is really pushing the envelope of like, is this one of the best
- 27:22wrestlers in the world right now? And maybe it's also like, you know,
- 27:26the guys have gotten hot in the last couple of months. Maybe because
- 27:30of that point, the ready's already set. But I mean gun Through had
- 27:33four I mean literally broke a record, almost a forty year old record.
- 27:37I mean that's pretty incredible. So I always still have gun Through ahead of
- 27:41Osprey, but I'd have Osprey probably at five. Yeah, back everybody elself
- 27:48off that I'm a hell I've been. Depending on the year, I mean,
- 27:49I might put Osprey ahead of Mocks. Yeah, I feel like a
- 27:53very solid year, But I don't think it's I don't think Mox this year
- 27:56is better than Mocks his first year in a w I think he's probably getting
- 28:03a ton of credit for everything that he's done to keep that company flow.
- 28:07Yeah, following brawl Out, I mean that was something else what he did
- 28:11there. I mean him Danielson Jericho really kept that company going in a really,
- 28:15really dark time in that company's very small history. So I do think
- 28:19he deserves a lot of praise. He wrestles every freaking week, probably too
- 28:23much blood for my liking, but wrestles every freaking week. Where did they
- 28:27put Osbury? I don't know. I only have the top ten. I
- 28:30could take a look while we're talking that out. But so two questions here.
- 28:37Let's start with the first one. Josh Alexander, your big Josh Alexander
- 28:41guy. I don't see enough of his work. Is he top ten material?
- 28:45Yeah, I mean he's I mean literally the reason Impact hasn't gone out
- 28:48of business was Josh was carry that company much like your talk about box.
- 28:52He was wrestling every single pay per view or every single you know, Impact
- 28:56taping he was on. And then he got hurt, which is kind of
- 29:00what maybe limited him a little bit, but really, up until the time
- 29:04he got injured, I mean, he was carrying that company. And then
- 29:07they're putt him in the ring with everybody, and I mean, that's one
- 29:10thing I love about him, is like you can put him in the ring
- 29:11with a Chris Saban or a Leo Rush and he can have a great match,
- 29:15and he put in the ring with the matches he was having with Bully
- 29:18Ray, We're just phenomenal because they're just hard hitting action pack and then great
- 29:22stories with like Bully pulling in Josh's wife and kid into the mix. Like
- 29:29some of us, it was just great sports entertainment. Some of it is
- 29:32great pure wrestling. You know. The reason w became with Josh Alexander fan
- 29:36was just the crazy the fact that he wore headgear and then I watched him
- 29:38work and I'm like, Damn, this guy is good, and they just
- 29:41kind of carried over and you've really like outside of you know, I have
- 29:47an affinity for the Rascals because I know those boys and uh, you know
- 29:51the murder State machine guns and a couple of people like He's really carried impact
- 29:56over the last two years really more than anything else, and you allow them
- 30:00to kind of play off of that, and hell, we got a Steve
- 30:03Cutler world title out of that because of Josh Alexander. It made Steve Cutler
- 30:10relevant in professional wrestling. The rest of the list here Leven is Sonata who
- 30:15you mentioned, Claudiacastin only twelve Carmelo has thirteen, Samo Joe fourteen, Masha
- 30:21Slamovic fifteen, Brian Danielson's sixteen, Will Osbury seventeen, Alexander Hammerstone eighteen,
- 30:27Bobby Lashley nineteen, Trey mcgil speaking the Rascals twenty, so Osbury's at seventeen.
- 30:33I mean that to me is a huge slight and not to mention,
- 30:37you don't have Sammy Zane the year he had or jay Usso in your top
- 30:41twenty. Kevin Owens is at twenty one, Sammy Zane is at twenty two.
- 30:45See if I can find jay Usso here fifty three. I don't see
- 30:55him yet. This makes for a good podcast while I'm looking for this.
- 31:00You also mentioned Roman should be number one, Rollins should be number two.
- 31:04I always felt like in the history of this show, I was more of
- 31:07the Rains guy that would support Rains. You are more of the Rowlins guy.
- 31:11Why are we Why are we flipping on this all of a sudden?
- 31:14Why did we do a double turn? I don't know why. I don't
- 31:17know we did a double turn for me though, Like I said, when
- 31:18it comes down to who the best professional wrestler slash sports entertainer, and that's
- 31:25what I'm looking at that framework of what wrestling entertainment is. Like I said,
- 31:30I know, people, for a fact tune in every single week for
- 31:33the Bloodline stuff. I don't know anybody who goes, hey, I'm watching
- 31:37raw just to accept us, And that to me has always been a telling
- 31:41point. It's it's the Howard Stern effect, if you will. When it
- 31:45came when it came to shock Jock Radio, like people would tune in because
- 31:48they love Howard. Certain the people who hated Howard would twudn't just to see
- 31:52what he was saying next. And I feel that way about Roman in the
- 31:55Bloodline storyline, and it says he's the focal point of that. I give
- 31:59him more of the rub off of it. And I legitly know people who
- 32:02are not wrestling fans but want to either see Roman lose or see Roman smash
- 32:07somebody every single Friday night. I know there. I know people are like,
- 32:09oh, I literally know there's one person I know who says they watch
- 32:14Rosdy Wood excuse me when they watch Rossey with Seth's going to wear. But
- 32:22I don't know anybody who goes, I tuned in every single week to see
- 32:24what Seth Rollins is going to do. I know people who tuned into Raw
- 32:28because hey, row has been a really good show for quite a while,
- 32:32But I don't know if anybody's tuning into specifically see just Seth. And that's
- 32:37why we give Roman the nod over Seth when it comes to you know,
- 32:42top rest top professional wrestling wrestling entertainers in the world. I cannot find Jayuso
- 32:50at all? Did you find Jimmy Elise? Is there an in the middle?
- 32:54I found Solo at thirty eight? Oh my gosh, yeah, I
- 33:00unless I'm completely wrong here. Did they just leave him off the list because
- 33:07they're a tag team? Is there the tag Did they have the top the
- 33:09top they usually have? They have like the tag team. I think they're
- 33:15starting to do that, but like, I don't know. By the way,
- 33:20before you read this, did you know who Monster Slamma Fish was not?
- 33:23Really? No? Okay? And yet she's fifteenth. Yeah she's an
- 33:28impact right, yes? And she was in a Ring of Honor for a
- 33:31while too, and I know she wasn't Was she in GCW as well?
- 33:38Yeah? She was one of the first big like crossover females to wrestle males
- 33:45because size wise she kind of matches up like she's a pretty I don't want
- 33:49to say she's a beast. I mean she's a really tough woman. And
- 33:54that's why I think she got a little bit of credibility going in for the
- 33:58GCW stuff because they'd have her out there wrestling John Wayne Murdoch and Nick Gage
- 34:05and some of those other guys because she looks legitily like she could beat their
- 34:08asses. So and a little bit saything an impact like you I've seen her,
- 34:13like I saw Leo Rush walk past her. It looked like she was
- 34:16walking, uh Gary Coleman out to take out the trash or something like.
- 34:21It's just a huge size differential. But surprised they put her on the list
- 34:24though, don't they do it? I know they do a female list.
- 34:28I'm like, I'm not against it, so don't call me a misogynistic pig,
- 34:31but I don't know, it just seems seems strange. Ever in the
- 34:36top you're asking the wrong guy. I probably probably because it's a she does
- 34:45so much intergender that's why they ranked her. But once again, like she
- 34:49was, China was ranked one oh six of the top five hundred and two
- 34:52thousand. There you I mean so, but once again, like top fifteen,
- 34:55Like, I mean, once again to me, if you will Osprey,
- 35:00like come on, yeah, Like, but if you're not the main
- 35:02event person on your show or top two or three on your show, your
- 35:08own show, will you really be in the top twenty. Yeah, Like
- 35:15I I'd write see Jay White in the top twenty. Romster slam of Vish
- 35:17because he was least for half the year headlining New Japan stuff in the last
- 35:22few months, you know, really helping carry collision. So he's a featured
- 35:29part of two shows he's been on, you know. But Masha Slamovic,
- 35:34Like, I mean, really, she's them. I think she's one half
- 35:37of the Impact Tag Team Women's Tag Team Champions And I'm like, she's not
- 35:40even the Impact Women's Champion, Like she's half of the Tag Team Champions and
- 35:45yet fifteen. Hey, that's why people do these less It's to be like,
- 35:50well, how could you not put Osprey in the top ten, top
- 35:52five, but you got Masha Slamovich in there at fifteen, Like that's that's
- 35:57a whole purpose of it. It's uh, gets people talking. Yeah,
- 36:00Marsha Slamavich also sounds like a name that came from the glow era of wrestling,
- 36:04True or a late nineties band that covers corn and slip knot. Oh
- 36:13yeah, there we got. Okay, there you go, you got.
- 36:14We're dating ourselves here, duct try and I switching over to a W Doctor
- 36:20Trey. There's been a lot of news lately that a W will be growing
- 36:24their pay per view list to twelve a year ak the w W E model.
- 36:30We have Russell Dream in a couple of weeks, which will actually preview
- 36:35and predict on next week's edition of SRTU preview in the first ever Russell Dream
- 36:40Show. And then they're gonna have Full Gearrant in November. And there's rumors
- 36:45that I think in late December they are going to have another pay per view
- 36:52in December, So I mean that would give you we just followed the revolution
- 36:58and double or model, but since then it would be forbidden Door. It
- 37:02would be all in, all out Russell Dream, Full Gear and whatever.
- 37:07This December pay per view is so six AW pay per views, and anybody
- 37:10who watches an AW pay per view, yes they're solid, the good shows,
- 37:14but damn they are freaking long. They may want to rethink that that's
- 37:17what we're discussing here today. However, there's a lot of news and notes
- 37:22out there saying that in twenty twenty four, don't be surprised if AW believe
- 37:25Andrews zerain Zarian had said this from Wrestling Observer came out and said that he
- 37:34has heard that AWW going on HBO Max. HBO Max just launched the Sports
- 37:37Tier. I believe this week how badly does AW have a streaming system?
- 37:44A need to have a streaming service, doctor Trey for their growing list of
- 37:47pay per view events, because I think the model, if it continues to
- 37:52expand, fans will not be as likely to want to spend over fifty bucks
- 37:55a pop for a pay per view that you run every single month. And
- 38:00so, now have you have you bought any of the AW pay per views
- 38:06in the last six months? I have not. No, Okay, I
- 38:08have not either, because a lot of it is also is I don't know
- 38:12how to like you, and I were joking off air earlier, I don't
- 38:14know how to get certain things from my phone or my laptop onto my TV
- 38:17because you're nine old. Yeah, so that that this is also gonna be
- 38:22one of those episodes of yelling at Clouds podcast at some point. I like
- 38:27it that there's a difficulty in that for people of certain ages, Like I
- 38:30like, I can watch it on my laptop, But if I've got a
- 38:34sixty five inch TV, don't I want to watch it? If I'm paying
- 38:36sixty bucks for a pay per view, I probably want to watch on the
- 38:37bigger TV. But to have it on a platform, uh, like a
- 38:45Max. You know they dropped the HBO part. It's now just Max where
- 38:49they can stream it straight to the TV, much like Peacock or or you
- 38:52know, Rest in Peace WW network, it would make things a lot simple
- 38:58for anything. Can put it on a tiered plat form where hey, I'm
- 39:00playing, I'm paying a flat rate and I get all the content for the
- 39:04flat rate. Look, I'm not going to spend sixty bucks on an aw
- 39:09pay per view every single month. It's just not practical for somebody that has
- 39:14a family. But if you can give me in a tiered program like Peacock
- 39:17or what the Net or what the network was, hey, it makes much
- 39:21more sense for my budget. I'm more likely to watch your product at that
- 39:23point as well, So it would make a ton of sense in the growing
- 39:30the brand outward and look, if you're HBO Max, I get it for
- 39:35freaks. I'm AT and T customer. But you know, if I'm paying
- 39:37ten bucks a month, rightbo Max, and you're reming the ten bucks a
- 39:39month for the sports package and I can actually watch some Major League Baseball games
- 39:45on there as well, Like that's something I can get into because it's it's
- 39:47crossing all of my loves at that point. Yeah, I think I pay
- 39:52over one twenty now. I paid annually for Peacock because I figured it.
- 39:57I was like, I'm just gonna do the annual subscription now and not paid
- 40:00fine nine nine ninety nine a month for this crap. Just do it all
- 40:04in one shot. Save I don't think twenty bucks, maybe two months worth
- 40:07of payments at that point. So I did that. Would I be inclined
- 40:10to do an HBO Max ten dollars a month and the sports here for another
- 40:15ten for twenty bucks a month just to watch aw pay for using whatever content
- 40:20is out there? I don't know there's been some trademarks out there. Yeah,
- 40:25go ahead if you say, if you've got some Yankees games and some
- 40:29Packers games sprinkled in with that package. Though, with that change your mind.
- 40:32It's funny you say that, but I mean that's the reason why I
- 40:35have my streaming service. My television streaming service is to watch Yankee games.
- 40:39Amazon Prime Video to watch Yankee games, and I have the NFL Sunday Ticket
- 40:44on YouTube to watch Packers. So it's that's where you're ahead of me on
- 40:47because I don't have all because the Cubs just now got their own platform,
- 40:52the Marquee on Marquee Sports, and I still cannot show out the money es
- 40:58much as I love my Nighters, I found a service. I stream it
- 41:00illegally for free. Don't don't arrest me for it. Something like, but
- 41:05man, at one point when the Apple of Network package was or when the
- 41:07NFL packed Sunny think, it was like five hundred bucks. So there's no
- 41:10way I can afford that. So you know, at least like with your
- 41:14situation, it's much more affordable now, so you could do it. But
- 41:19for me, like I don't need to watch every single Cubs games, but
- 41:22if you can sprinkle some in for that extra ten bucks a month and maybe
- 41:27you know a couple extra Niners games, then I'd be more for that.
- 41:30Now with you and you your proximity to the YES network and stuff like that.
- 41:36You know, your cost is probably a little bit more affordable than me
- 41:38trying to get it all the way out in the middle of nowhere, Alabama.
- 41:42Yeah, And that's my thing is, I was trying to make the
- 41:45point of that, you know, all these streaming services you have, do
- 41:47add up? If I already have Peacock, and if I already have Disney
- 41:52Plus and Paramount Plus or Apple TV Plus or whatever Netflix in my family household,
- 42:00will I add twenty bucks a month at let's just say, two hundred
- 42:04bucks a year to have it for the package just to watch AW pay per
- 42:07views. I don't know. It's something kind to give there. Or should
- 42:13AW do a model that is similar or equivalent to their competition in W eight.
- 42:19I think they should. I think it should be similar packages to what
- 42:22Peacock is. If it's that, then I may sholl it out. I
- 42:25may sholl out to watch the twelve shows a year plus whatever content is on
- 42:30HBO Max or the sports here, like I'm doing right now with Peacock.
- 42:35It's it's tough, it's but at the end of the day, I can't
- 42:38pay fifty bucks a month for every single one of these paper views, Like,
- 42:43that's just that's just ludicrous. You want to talk about money, that's
- 42:45just ludicrous. So AW does need a streaming service. They at one point
- 42:49I had trademark AW Plus, So they must have some sort of plan or
- 42:52envision that they're going to go the direction at some point, or maybe just
- 42:55a name they're gonna keep in their back pocket. So how bad do they
- 43:00need it? Pretty damn badly, especially if you're growing your list of pay
- 43:02per view events. I expect in the next couple of months there will be
- 43:07some sort of announcement, doctor Trey. I feel like this is a very
- 43:10early twenty twenty four event where AW announces where you can start watching their pay
- 43:15per views at a much more convenient location and at hopefully a much more convenient
- 43:21price. Yeah, I agree. I think I think it's coming sooner than
- 43:24later. My hope is, though, when they announced this, we'll actually
- 43:29get a hecking order of AW pay per views, so we know which ones
- 43:32are the most important ones, in which ones our secondary shows, because we'll
- 43:36be nice. I have no idea which is which right now, because I
- 43:38mean literally, they did pay per views a week apart, so I don't
- 43:42really know which is important which ones aren't. That's always the big debate here
- 43:45is is this the big show? Double or nothing? I don't know.
- 43:47Is it all out? I don't know. I don't think it's revolution.
- 43:52I don't think it's full gear. I think it's either double or nothing and
- 43:54all out. And now that you've had all in at Wembley, it could
- 43:58be all in. We need to know what the WrestleMania is of AW,
- 44:01so AW have to outline that. I totally agree with doctor Trey. Nobody
- 44:06asked Tony con he's very act money. Nobody has ever asked him that.
- 44:09I think that's a great thing to ask him, Like what is your starcade?
- 44:14What is your WrestleMania? Tell me, hey, you you run the
- 44:17SRTU page. There you go. I don't know if another thing. If
- 44:22if Elon starts charging us for Twitter, there won't be a SRTU podcast,
- 44:25Twitter feed much more longer. Either sure we go truth social true yeah,
- 44:31or be real or threads. I guess we could go to last thing I
- 44:37want to bring up here. At the close of Monday Night, Raw Jusso
- 44:40Drew Mcatarre Jusso gets the l after the Judgment Day interferes Drew macutarcs and takes
- 44:47advantage of the Judgment Day interference gets the one two three, leaving the ring.
- 44:52Judgment Day starts beating down Jusso Mcatar staring at the beat down. Prior
- 44:57to all this, Drew Mcatar didn't understand why peop where we're giving jus the
- 45:00second chance. It costs him the championship with Clash of the Castle, all
- 45:02the stuff that Jay Usso did while he's in the Bloodline, rightfully so.
- 45:07So he's sitting there staring. Everybody's kind of cheering him on, like go
- 45:09out there and go help him. Drew doesn't move. Cody Rhodes music hits,
- 45:14he comes out, he makes the say for Jusso as Raw closes out,
- 45:17which then gets everybody thinking is a Drew McIntyre he'll turn coming? And
- 45:22the more I thought about it, I'm like, I think this is coming.
- 45:27I'm down for it, and I think he could be feuding with Cody
- 45:30Rhodes even more so I would be down with this. Doctor Trey, did
- 45:34you get those spider sense he'll turn tingly feeling at the end of Raw this
- 45:38past Monday, Yeah, I mean I had it across multiple, multiple scenarios
- 45:44in there, because that's how my mind works, as like, oh,
- 45:46what if you split the judgment day in Damian dominic and read go off to
- 45:51one side and then Drew Finn and JD McDonough, you basically get like an
- 45:55Irish guy like a United Kingdom Judgment Day. Then you have like a Hispanic
- 46:00judgment day, like Hispanic Australian Judgment Day, like it's an international Judgment Day.
- 46:06Like I was over places and I was like, oh yeah, don't
- 46:07forget Drew and Cody were tag team champions at one point. Also like that
- 46:13to tie into it, like there's so many ways to play with this,
- 46:15and you go back to when Drew came back and had he was wearing all
- 46:20the angry metal you know, stuff like that is like man, he basically
- 46:23was like Damian Priest all his old wardrobe. I mean they could that can
- 46:28matches up. I mean like there's a lot of ways to run with this,
- 46:30and then you know, we do need maybe a Drew Heel turn because
- 46:36as much as we love what Drew did during the pandemic era, I mean
- 46:38the way they booked him since clashed the Castle He's almost like the forgotten main
- 46:42eventor so it would be a good refresh for the Drew brand as well if
- 46:46they do the heel turn with it. Yeah, great point there, because
- 46:50there's been lots of mention of Drew being the guy to carry the company during
- 46:52the pandemic and then being overshadowed by Rains. Once everything started to reopen again,
- 46:59people started to decide Jay Usso while Drew still has the beef with him,
- 47:02it's it's something that makes a lot of sense as to why he would
- 47:07turn heel. And then I think the next step up off that element,
- 47:12I'm totally down with the he'll turn. And then I think a Cody Drew
- 47:15feud for like the rest of this year, maybe heading into the Royal Rumble
- 47:20Doctor Trey, would be a ton of money and would make so much sense
- 47:22for both those guys and would be a ton of fun to watch as a
- 47:25wrestling fan. Give me a Cody Drew feud, give me a Drew heel
- 47:30turn. Not to mention, we got your Vibray series coming up, and
- 47:34if you pair Drew with a Judgment Day against a Cody j Sammy Kevin,
- 47:37you know that would be pretty pretty fun too. I mean, just imagine
- 47:43Drew Finn domin she Drew, Finn Dom and Damien in the double K in
- 47:49the War Games cage with Cody, Kevin, Sammy and Jay. That would
- 47:52be pretty fun to watch as well. Yeah, I think the direction of
- 47:57war Games for Survivor series a year, presuming that's coming back, has to
- 48:00be the Judgment Day at this point, right, I mean they, I
- 48:02mean then we have with who got in the cage last year? Was it
- 48:06Judgment Day or was it was it was Bloodline and uh what was it?
- 48:09The brawling brutes, Kevin, Kevin Owens and Drew. Yeah, so it
- 48:16makes sense to have Judgment Day in it this year because that was That's when
- 48:21we looked at last year. Last year we're looking at was it gonna be
- 48:23Judgment Day or Bloodline? And Bloodline got the call this year, Hey,
- 48:27Judgment Day is the hot one of the hottest acts you have going maybe the
- 48:30hottest, if not second hottest acts. Put them in the cage. Put
- 48:32Cody in there, Jay, Sammy and Kevin. That's to me is something
- 48:37I tuned in to watch. It's there you go, Drew possibly turning heel
- 48:43feud with Cody give it to us and close out twenty twenty three strong on
- 48:46the Raw brand. Lots of great stuff going on professional rest in right now,
- 48:51and we will continue that trend on next week's edition the show when Doctor
