- 0:50Speaker 1: my guy is back, skill a baby. Welcome, Welcome, Welcome.
- 0:55Speaker 1: We just had a wild conversation off camera.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I didn't have that, wuck.
- 1:02Speaker 1: We had a wild conversation on camera that you witnessed.
- 1:06Speaker 1: But yeah, welcome back. Man, what bro, I feel like
- 1:11Speaker 1: you've had you know, I don't know if you remember this,
- 1:14Speaker 1: but during the pandemic, when you guys took over my
- 1:17Speaker 1: old studio, you had the front room, sat I had
- 1:21Speaker 1: the middle room. The big white bro was there with
- 1:24Speaker 1: a machine gun or serious. Yeah you know the big
- 1:27Speaker 1: white broh. He's doing security for Jelly Roll's wife now.
- 1:31Speaker 1: But it was the most craziest time in America. You're yes,
- 1:38Speaker 1: so we were all like, I remember my engineers were
- 1:40Speaker 1: freaking out because nobody had masks on. This is like
- 1:43Speaker 1: peak pandemic.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Bear lost.
- 1:45Speaker 1: There's hell of fucking dogs and ship y'all had that
- 1:48Speaker 1: shit turned the fuck up middle of the pandemic. I
- 1:49Speaker 1: remember meeting I think that was the first time I
- 1:51Speaker 1: met you because you're recorded in the first room. Matt,
- 1:55Speaker 1: how far have you come? Six years later? Man, superstar
- 1:58Speaker 1: skill a baby trying.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Thank you. I appreciate you.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Like this chain is impressive, man, he bought it.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Yeah, oh shit, shout out to fifty.
- 2:09Speaker 1: That's awesome. Do you like, did you deserve it or
- 2:14Speaker 1: was it just like, hey, man, I fuck with you.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Here's the chain.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I mean fifty, I know he's your guy. Yeah, Like
- 2:22Speaker 2: that's pretty cool, but like, I don't know. I like,
- 2:26Speaker 2: one time I wont like three hundred thousand, I gave
- 2:28Speaker 2: fifty cents some money, So like, this is what we
- 2:31Speaker 2: do for each other.
- 2:31Speaker 1: My guy, one time you won three hundred thousand.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I gave fifty cents some money. But he invited
- 2:37Speaker 2: me to his show and I ended up going to Sportsman.
- 2:41Speaker 2: But because of this guy.
- 2:44Speaker 1: What casino was, I'm assuming this was a casino.
- 2:47Speaker 2: The M them, Yeah, in Detroit.
- 2:50Speaker 1: No, in Vegas, oh the oh you guys were off
- 2:52Speaker 1: the strip?
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah, M Resort, that's residence during his residency.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You were at the M Resort.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't really want to give up much.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Well, the M Resort is a great there's some fucking
- 3:03Speaker 1: lovely local clientele at the M.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Rezo for sure, Yeah, for sure.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Have you ever hung out in Vegas in the high
- 3:10Speaker 1: end bar like at the Aria and just seeing how
- 3:13Speaker 1: crazy like the prostitute hustle is.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't really like going to the Aria anymore. Yeah,
- 3:19Speaker 2: because it's just I could go to the M and
- 3:24Speaker 2: be normal that I could go to the Aria and
- 3:27Speaker 2: I'll get stopped every five sexaurus there. Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Yeah, the next time you end up at the Aria.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Just walk by the High Limit bar one two am
- 3:36Speaker 1: and you will see some of the most beautiful women
- 3:39Speaker 1: in Las Vegas trying to sell their pussy to a
- 3:42Speaker 1: old man. But it's fun. It's fun sometimes you walk
- 3:46Speaker 1: up like I used to live in Vegas twenty ten
- 3:48Speaker 1: to twelve. By the way, if you think I'm crazy now,
- 3:51Speaker 1: back then, I was a sick ass full but we
- 3:53Speaker 1: me and my homie used to prank hookers. Surprise, no
- 3:56Speaker 1: pimps ever killed us or try to shoot us. But
- 3:58Speaker 1: we would just walk like we'd see an obvious prostitute
- 4:01Speaker 1: and a john and we'd walk up to the hooker
- 4:03Speaker 1: and be like, yo, you gave me herpies. I've been
- 4:07Speaker 1: trying to call you, and then just walk off. Good
- 4:11Speaker 1: times anyway, It's good to see you skill the baby Man.
- 4:13Speaker 1: This new album, man, would you say that this because
- 4:18Speaker 1: you know, not a lot of times when someone's got
- 4:20Speaker 1: an album coming out, you're able to kind of read
- 4:22Speaker 1: some of the lyrics coming because I haven't heard all
- 4:23Speaker 1: the music obviously the stuff that you've released, but I've
- 4:26Speaker 1: been able to kind of dive into some of the lyrics.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Would you say this is the most like time you've
- 4:33Speaker 1: taken and in terms of albums, the most you've applied
- 4:37Speaker 1: yourself to just the bars and the pen.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Of course, I wanted people to put me in a
- 4:44Speaker 2: lyricist category with this, So a lot of the songs
- 4:48Speaker 2: it took me two years to make a year and
- 4:50Speaker 2: make go back in there, redo it, get versus here.
- 4:54Speaker 2: I hear somebody else's verse, go back and redo some
- 4:56Speaker 2: of my verse. See if this makes sense, See if
- 4:59Speaker 2: this scheme makes and so yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean for you, like would you would you
- 5:04Speaker 1: say you're typically like a punch in guy, I'll mix
- 5:07Speaker 1: it in, yeah, because I feel like when you use
- 5:10Speaker 1: the pen, it's like a little more intentional, you know
- 5:11Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Like, I feel like punching it is
- 5:13Speaker 1: cool to get a melody or kind of get your
- 5:14Speaker 1: flow down.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I think punching in for me is just when I'm
- 5:18Speaker 2: creating a vibe. If I can create a song as
- 5:20Speaker 2: a vibe, then I'll punch it in. I like this
- 5:23Speaker 2: flow and it don't have to be most lyrically inclined song.
- 5:27Speaker 2: But like with this album, I tried to put pin
- 5:30Speaker 2: in the paper.
- 5:31Speaker 1: What do you think like inspired you initially to be like,
- 5:35Speaker 1: all right, this next project, I'm really gonna like dive
- 5:37Speaker 1: in and like make it first of all super personal album, right,
- 5:41Speaker 1: but also just kind of lean into being a lyricist
- 5:44Speaker 1: on this one. Was there anything that inspired that.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I always wanted to be intentional with my album. It's
- 5:48Speaker 2: my first studio album.
- 5:50Speaker 1: With everything else in mixtapes. Yeah, so, which is crazy
- 5:53Speaker 1: because you kind of feel like a vet low key now.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's my first album, so I wanted to
- 5:59Speaker 2: be big and I wanted to be intentional. And I
- 6:02Speaker 2: always said, when I do my album, I'm gonna put
- 6:04Speaker 2: my best foot forward, the best work. So I wanted
- 6:10Speaker 2: that to be intentional. And then it started getting personal
- 6:13Speaker 2: when certain events happen and other stuff I was going
- 6:18Speaker 2: through in life, and yeah, yeah, it was like motivation
- 6:23Speaker 2: for me to do it.
- 6:24Speaker 1: What because obviously for people who don't know, like you
- 6:27Speaker 1: went through something last year where you got shot three
- 6:29Speaker 1: times and I think you tied together like that trauma
- 6:32Speaker 1: with the cover paying howmage to Park who obviously went
- 6:35Speaker 1: through something similar. When did you kind of realize, like,
- 6:38Speaker 1: you know what that Tupac photo we got to redo
- 6:41Speaker 1: that or we got to pay homage to that photo.
- 6:45Speaker 2: My team was really just trying to make me lean
- 6:49Speaker 2: in on what I was going through, And at first
- 6:52Speaker 2: I was like, I don't want to do that, like yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 2: because I was still going through it, so to speak.
- 7:00Speaker 2: So I was really like, like, just think about it
- 7:02Speaker 2: will irritate me or put me in the mood where
- 7:05Speaker 2: I felt like I didn't need to be in that
- 7:07Speaker 2: that space in my head. But then I was I
- 7:11Speaker 2: had to really self reflect, talk to God, pray, and really,
- 7:16Speaker 2: if I was gonna do an album, I gotta tell
- 7:19Speaker 2: my whole story. I can't really piece it together. I
- 7:22Speaker 2: gotta really make it cohesive and like tell my story
- 7:25Speaker 2: instead of trying to half tell the story and make
- 7:30Speaker 2: people get to get the message. So I think that
- 7:35Speaker 2: was a big part of my story. And I don't
- 7:37Speaker 2: want people to I don't want people to feel bad
- 7:39Speaker 2: for me or or feel like I still want that
- 7:43Speaker 2: raw emotion.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I can imagine like you might not.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I mean, like, obviously you're physically healed, but I'm assuming
- 7:50Speaker 1: like emotionally you're like that's that's like you got to
- 7:53Speaker 1: be on your toes for life in a way where
- 7:55Speaker 1: you're like just I don't know, you know, when somebody
- 7:57Speaker 1: gets shot, like overseas in Iraq or in war, they
- 8:01Speaker 1: got PTSD.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I don't think I got PTSD because I accept where
- 8:08Speaker 2: I'm from.
- 8:10Speaker 1: It just comes with it.
- 8:11Speaker 2: It just come with it. But I for sure like
- 8:21Speaker 2: I deal with problems all right, bet, I think that
- 8:25Speaker 2: was the best bullet that ever happened to me. Like
- 8:27Speaker 2: I've been shot on two different occasions, I didn't really
- 8:29Speaker 2: learn nothing from my first situation. It just made me.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I think it turned me to more of a gangst
- 8:35Speaker 2: the individual than I was. But this one, I think
- 8:41Speaker 2: it just brought me closer to God. It wasn't the
- 8:45Speaker 2: beginning of my faith journey, but it was a big
- 8:48Speaker 2: part of my faith journey. I started really just self
- 8:54Speaker 2: reflecting on a lot of stuff I've been doing right
- 8:57Speaker 2: and wrong, analyzing my situation making me want to think harder,
- 9:01Speaker 2: make me want to go harder. So I don't recommend
- 9:04Speaker 2: anybody getting shot. But this is like one of the
- 9:06Speaker 2: best bullets I ever caught. And like, whoever shot me,
- 9:10Speaker 2: I don't know who it is. Thank you. I appreciate y'all.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I feel like it's like forced growth. It's like, oh shit,
- 9:17Speaker 1: kind of makes you like look in the mirror and
- 9:19Speaker 1: be like, all right, what do we gotta like? What
- 9:20Speaker 1: do I gotta change?
- 9:21Speaker 2: You know?
- 9:22Speaker 1: Woo, you already know, baby. Are family at odd Socks.

- 9:46Speaker 1: And obviously there's competing brands that might you might be
- 9:50Speaker 1: used to wearing the white tube socks. Listen, not only
- 9:54Speaker 1: are these better, they're more affordable. H They're more comfortable.

- 10:33Speaker 1: odd socks we need a new box. The basics, The basics,
- 10:35Speaker 1: the basics, All right, odd socks dot com use the
- 10:37Speaker 1: promo code Bootleg save twenty percent off. Let's get back
- 10:39Speaker 1: into the interview. I mean there's a obviously in the album,
- 10:42Speaker 1: like there's a lot of your faith is prevalent throughout it.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Like first song is Baptism Sunday, God's favorite. Would you
- 10:51Speaker 1: like say that? Like you're pretty honed in on like
- 10:55Speaker 1: the religion, like being religious and like going to church
- 10:57Speaker 1: and all that shit.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I don't go to church every Sunday or go to
- 11:01Speaker 2: church a lot, but I'm holding with my faith in
- 11:04Speaker 2: my journey, right. I don't want to get too much
- 11:09Speaker 2: on religion because I'm not really judgmental. It's not my
- 11:13Speaker 2: job to judge who's faith right or who's religion right.
- 11:16Speaker 2: So my faith journey it just is what it is,
- 11:21Speaker 2: is that every day struggle for me, That journey is
- 11:24Speaker 2: every day for me. So I try to just pray
- 11:26Speaker 2: as much as I can and have a relationship with God.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And you know, yeah, do you feel like you getting
- 11:35Speaker 1: shot like inspired you to kind of like because I
- 11:39Speaker 1: feel like so many people from Detroit end up in
- 11:42Speaker 1: other places, right, it's like in La Atlanta whatever. Not
- 11:47Speaker 1: to give up where where you're at now, But I
- 11:48Speaker 1: know you left Detroit. Was that something where you're just like,
- 11:50Speaker 1: I gotta get out the city, man, I gotta protect
- 11:52Speaker 1: my peace a little.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, only because it's not even protecting like you said,
- 12:00Speaker 2: it's protecting my peace more than protecting anything else, because
- 12:05Speaker 2: you get caught up in your surroundings. And I really
- 12:09Speaker 2: be in my head and I'm scared of myself so
- 12:11Speaker 2: to speak, just only because Detroit raised me, so we
- 12:17Speaker 2: only be knowing one way how to deal with problems
- 12:20Speaker 2: and stuff, and that's just head first. So I felt
- 12:24Speaker 2: like I needed and I've been in this place for
- 12:28Speaker 2: a while, like I've been in like where I'm at now.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I had a place there, like I had a home
- 12:34Speaker 2: in there. If I refused to go there, because I
- 12:37Speaker 2: would just so headstrong about being in my neighborhood, and.
- 12:41Speaker 1: You don't want to put yourself in a position where
- 12:42Speaker 1: you lose your freedom.
- 12:45Speaker 2: But even more than that, because I could go do
- 12:50Speaker 2: time is I'm not recommend to jail or nobody. I'm
- 12:54Speaker 2: solid enough to go do time if I have to.
- 12:56Speaker 2: But it's all the stuff that comes with in my family,
- 12:59Speaker 2: depends on so and other people, my friends, a lot
- 13:03Speaker 2: of people like my business. I pay people, and it'd
- 13:07Speaker 2: be selfish of me to just throw that all the way.
- 13:09Speaker 2: So I had to really self reflect and really way
- 13:13Speaker 2: things out.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Had to be a pretty big deal to get a
- 13:18Speaker 1: NAS feature. NAS obviously had an album called God's Son,
- 13:23Speaker 1: which is an amazing body of work. But NAS is
- 13:25Speaker 1: not doing features for a lot of people. There's people
- 13:28Speaker 1: signing knads that don't have NAS on their ound like
- 13:30Speaker 1: that ass, So tell me what is the genesis of
- 13:34Speaker 1: you reaching out to NAS? How does this happen? Because
- 13:37Speaker 1: I think a lot of fans of yours maybe just
- 13:40Speaker 1: might fuck with the Detroit shit of the club shit
- 13:42Speaker 1: might be like yo, that's like I feel like people
- 13:44Speaker 1: weren't necessarily like maybe passive skill of Baby fans might
- 13:47Speaker 1: have been caught off guard to be like, oh, we
- 13:48Speaker 1: got a record with NAS. That's a big deal.
- 13:52Speaker 2: That's why I said that probably was the best bullet
- 13:55Speaker 2: I ever caught, only because certain people. I'm not saying
- 13:59Speaker 2: they worked with me because I got shot, but it
- 14:01Speaker 2: put me in certain rooms and certain people like Pastor
- 14:04Speaker 2: Warren Campbell. We did a lot of Tupac stuff and
- 14:09Speaker 2: he got records, were huge gospel artists. He's married to
- 14:13Speaker 2: Erica Campbell from Mary Mary. A lot of people. It
- 14:16Speaker 2: was like, it was just I started working with you
- 14:20Speaker 2: because like God like like based on their faith, and
- 14:25Speaker 2: they like God told them to help me. So I
- 14:29Speaker 2: was putting some of these rooms based off just the
- 14:32Speaker 2: situation I went through, and I ended up making this
- 14:36Speaker 2: album and somebody I know was playing for NAS, and
- 14:41Speaker 2: we was trying to figure out what NAS role was
- 14:43Speaker 2: gonna be. At first, it just started a phone call conversation,
- 14:45Speaker 2: phone conversation. Then it started. Then it went to okay,
- 14:50Speaker 2: do you want me to executive produce it? Then it
- 14:53Speaker 2: went to I want to help you with this. Then
- 14:56Speaker 2: it went to oh, I'm gonna put a verse on this.
- 15:00Speaker 2: So it's like NAS does so many He's like fifty
- 15:03Speaker 2: he does so much stuff for me behind the scenes
- 15:06Speaker 2: that no one knows. He makes phone calls, he connect dots,
- 15:09Speaker 2: he he's putting together listening parties. He's playing this for
- 15:12Speaker 2: this person he's calling Eminem.
- 15:15Speaker 1: He's so crazy.
- 15:16Speaker 2: He's doing a lot of stuff that nobody really knows him.
- 15:19Speaker 2: In fifty cent really plays a big role in what's
- 15:23Speaker 2: going on with me right now. Like they throw me
- 15:25Speaker 2: so many oops, it's crazy.
- 15:26Speaker 1: It's crazy too, because like I mean, ever since the
- 15:30Speaker 1: first time I met you, in the first time we chatted,
- 15:32Speaker 1: like for realb Mike, yo, you're you're like you were
- 15:34Speaker 1: super young, obviously, but you have like an old soul,
- 15:37Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So I can see why
- 15:39Speaker 1: not like low key like a young Na's low key
- 15:41Speaker 1: by the way that you would be talking and shit,
- 15:43Speaker 1: you know, so Nas calls Eminem and says hey, because
- 15:47Speaker 1: you know, there's always just like weird like Eminem Old Detroit,
- 15:50Speaker 1: New Detroit, like Eminem. Don't tap in enough, I mean,
- 15:53Speaker 1: and then every once in a while he will you
- 15:56Speaker 1: talk to Eminem.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I haven't talked to Eminem, but hopefully in your tryst.
- 16:01Speaker 2: But Dave, it's been phone calls and stuff like that
- 16:04Speaker 2: about me and all these things. I think that the
- 16:08Speaker 2: disconnect between Eminem and the new detroiters that we just
- 16:11Speaker 2: all we we like we look up to them. It's Eminem.
- 16:15Speaker 2: It we have the biggest rapper from our city, biggest
- 16:19Speaker 2: rapper ever from our city, and we all just want
- 16:23Speaker 2: to touch them, like you know what I'm saying. We
- 16:25Speaker 2: just want to be connected to that, like we want
- 16:27Speaker 2: that head. No, we all we like we adore Eminem,
- 16:32Speaker 2: but Detroit is such a a rowdy city it comes
- 16:36Speaker 2: out different. Like I can say, I can say I
- 16:39Speaker 2: fuck with Eminem, but it'll come out a different way,
- 16:42Speaker 2: only because I'm from Detroit. When people saying that like Eminem,
- 16:46Speaker 2: don't come here, it's like, man, em come, we love
- 16:49Speaker 2: you like you probably the only person that can walk
- 16:51Speaker 2: around this bitch and be safe, right, you know what
- 16:54Speaker 2: I'm saying, Like you am, like we love you, like
- 16:57Speaker 2: we gonna protect you, were gonna make sure you don't
- 16:59Speaker 2: need no security your Eminem.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, shout out to Sean because I know Sean
- 17:04Speaker 1: did that that cipher that brought Hella hell of worlds
- 17:07Speaker 1: together from Detroit on Detroit too. That So, what is
- 17:13Speaker 1: the main takeaway? You get when you're constructing a body
- 17:17Speaker 1: of work and you're getting input from nas, who, in
- 17:21Speaker 1: my opinion, has if not the greatest hip hop album
- 17:24Speaker 1: of all time. It's like top three or four, you know,
- 17:28Speaker 1: and then the discussion about the it was written down
- 17:31Speaker 1: there might be better low key, But what are what
- 17:34Speaker 1: are the things you take away when you're like, okay,
- 17:37Speaker 1: what is the advice that you can apply when you're
- 17:40Speaker 1: whether it's the track listing or how to sequence, or
- 17:43Speaker 1: because you've got skits on the album. No one's doing
- 17:44Speaker 1: skits anymore.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I really, he really was just telling me to
- 17:51Speaker 2: keep that raw emotion beyond apologetically myself, like, just go
- 18:01Speaker 2: for it for real, for real. I ain't really talk
- 18:04Speaker 2: to him about the sequence and all that. I just
- 18:07Speaker 2: really studied my favorite albums, Illmatic, Dark and Hell Is Hot,
- 18:14Speaker 2: Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. I went to Thriller Off the Wall.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I went to look at Chromacope and why why people
- 18:23Speaker 2: felt like that was a classic. I went to a
- 18:26Speaker 2: lot of albums. I just took a deep dive, reasonable
- 18:29Speaker 2: doubt everything, Get Richard dot Trone. I went to all
- 18:35Speaker 2: albums that I felt like were classics.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Carter two.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I went to a lot of stuff and I just
- 18:41Speaker 2: took a deep dive and sing why was this a classic?
- 18:46Speaker 1: Why?
- 18:46Speaker 2: I felt like this music was wasn't that good but
- 18:50Speaker 2: the album was still a classic? The Rollo? Why did
- 18:53Speaker 2: this music sound so good? And it wasn't thirty hits
- 18:56Speaker 2: on there? It was two because yeahs out don't got
- 19:01Speaker 2: to hit you know what I'm saying. It's like the
- 19:02Speaker 2: skits or the storyline everything, And I just took a
- 19:07Speaker 2: deep dive into where these people were, was at what
- 19:11Speaker 2: they was wearing, the things they was into, everything they
- 19:14Speaker 2: put into these man exactly you Uh.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Was there an album that you kind of studied that
- 19:22Speaker 1: you came away from like appreciating more than you than
- 19:24Speaker 1: you did before. But like maybe, like yo, I know
- 19:26Speaker 1: people are saying this is a classic, but I never
- 19:28Speaker 1: Maybe it's dark.
- 19:29Speaker 2: In hell, it's hot for sure. It's one of my
- 19:31Speaker 2: favorite for sure, insane like and just dms intentional intention
- 19:37Speaker 2: when he's writing records or putting out skits or the
- 19:41Speaker 2: videos or even coming through with the Rough Riders and.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Record where he's fucking rapping as the demon in himself.
- 19:48Speaker 2: My favorite skit is the Houses Going Down like that
- 19:55Speaker 2: Ship was fired? Who think you suck it? Like that
- 19:57Speaker 2: ship was just say his name? That shit was crazy.
- 20:02Speaker 2: But another album that I don't want to get canceled,
- 20:04Speaker 2: but they know I gotta say it regardless, TP too,
- 20:07Speaker 2: I just listen.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I'd like to point out that I am a huge R.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Kelly flag waiver on the bootleg Head podcast strictly obviously musically,
- 20:16Speaker 1: but he is the king of R and B. He
- 20:19Speaker 1: is one of the greatest artists of all time and
- 20:20Speaker 1: quite possibly the greatest writer of all time. And I
- 20:23Speaker 1: still thoroughly enjoy R Kelly weekly. Now, obviously musically get
- 20:28Speaker 1: into personal life.
- 20:30Speaker 2: We ain't getting into people personal lives, but R Kelly
- 20:34Speaker 2: as an.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Artist titled r TP two saying what are we talking about?
- 20:39Speaker 2: For sure?
- 20:40Speaker 1: He made half on a Baby. Now, don't dive too
- 20:43Speaker 1: deep into those lyrics with current events, but if you just.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Appreciate sonically sonically, like even if we just talk about sonically,
- 20:53Speaker 2: not deep diving in their lyrics, but sonically, how the
- 20:56Speaker 2: album went on sequential order, the story everything that Ship
- 21:01Speaker 2: was fire.
- 21:02Speaker 1: He was doing concept records. The music videos were crazy,
- 21:05Speaker 1: like keeping on the download was a crazy ass video.
- 21:07Speaker 1: I remember seeing that shit on bat as a Kid,
- 21:09Speaker 1: and it fucking had ron Eisley in there. I think
- 21:11Speaker 1: he was fucking ron Eisley's wife in that video. Crazy
- 21:14Speaker 1: times shout Kelly Man. Listen shout out to him musically,
- 21:19Speaker 1: not personally obviously. I mean, but look, hold your head.
- 21:22Speaker 1: You know you're doing your time. You got hit with
- 21:24Speaker 1: the charges. It is what it is. It ain't like
- 21:26Speaker 1: he's fucking running around like these Epstein motherfuckers. You know.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I digress. But yeah, TP two So that's your favorite R.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Kelly album TPW do for sure? Yeah, what about is?
- 21:37Speaker 2: But my favorite R. Kelly song is Honeylove Mmm fire insane.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Damn dude, I think you remind me such a good mine.
- 21:46Speaker 1: I think half on a Baby might be mine now,
- 21:49Speaker 1: something about that song.
- 21:49Speaker 2: But he got so many hits like that, crazy, I
- 21:53Speaker 2: really like, I believe and perfected like like that.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Crazy Like I mean, he kind of affected the whole,
- 22:00Speaker 1: like bringing hip hop and R and B together and
- 22:02Speaker 1: making it fly for real, you know, like this is
- 22:05Speaker 1: what it is. Shot him and Mary Jay. I'll say,
- 22:09Speaker 1: that's what's up man, You already know Arizona Man. The

- 23:53Speaker 1: Hardean Underscore Las Vegas. All right, let's get back to
- 23:55Speaker 1: the podcast. So were you like before tapping in with Niles?
- 23:59Speaker 1: Were you like a big NAS guy?
- 24:01Speaker 2: I had NAS songs that I loved a lot so
- 24:03Speaker 2: I was Nas. I was more a nas fan of records,
- 24:09Speaker 2: records and what he meant to hip hop, like even
- 24:13Speaker 2: switching lanes and doing movies and shit like that.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Like I was really.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Exactly like that. Shit was just it just was like
- 24:24Speaker 2: just a fan of Nas period. I'm like a lot
- 24:27Speaker 2: of people, I'll be bigger fans of them Dan, like
- 24:34Speaker 2: say they album or music or whatever.
- 24:36Speaker 1: It's like yeah, and then Nas is like quietly became
- 24:39Speaker 1: one of the smartest investors in music for sure.
- 24:41Speaker 2: But even before his investments, I just think like people
- 24:44Speaker 2: like DMX or Naves or Lauren Hill or people like that,
- 24:48Speaker 2: like fifty cent, they icons for sure. They they crossed
- 24:52Speaker 2: over will Smith, they crossed over everything music and everything entertainment.
- 24:56Speaker 2: It's just you can't help.
- 24:58Speaker 1: But just so when you go to study all these
- 25:02Speaker 1: classics and you when you finally press play on Illmatic,
- 25:05Speaker 1: is that the first time you get you go from
- 25:07Speaker 1: one to ten straight through.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Yeah, such a good album. Crazy One Love, It's Crazy
- 25:13Speaker 2: New York.
- 25:13Speaker 1: State of Mind to me is the greatest hip hop
- 25:15Speaker 1: song of all time.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Somebody else told me that.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I mean, I think that that is the perfect example
- 25:19Speaker 1: of hip hop's It's the greatest song of all time
- 25:22Speaker 1: in my opinion.
- 25:23Speaker 2: In my opinion, though, the best hip hop album to
- 25:25Speaker 2: ever come out is mis Educational.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Are Yeah, I think Miseducation. I just revisited it like
- 25:32Speaker 1: two weeks ago, honestly, I was driving back from Phoenix
- 25:35Speaker 1: and it is. It is a very genre list album,
- 25:42Speaker 1: like in hip but it is a hip hop album.
- 25:44Speaker 1: But there's so much there. I think ill Matic is
- 25:48Speaker 1: like it's ten records and it is hip hip hop
- 25:52Speaker 1: for sure, you know what I'm saying. But they're the
- 25:55Speaker 1: argument to say is is Miseducation overall? Better album?
- 25:59Speaker 2: That's a good I just see why she didn't do
- 26:02Speaker 2: nothing else, Like I see why.
- 26:04Speaker 1: She left that alone. Like I need to make a
- 26:05Speaker 1: list of albums for you to listen to. Please A
- 26:08Speaker 1: Quimini from Outcast. Uh did you listen to thirty six
- 26:11Speaker 1: chambers from U Tang Clan? No?
- 26:12Speaker 2: I did not.
- 26:13Speaker 1: You want to hear a crazy skit? Hold on, I
- 26:15Speaker 1: just want to you gotta hear the torture skit. Okay,
- 26:17Speaker 1: so you know who method Man is. Okay, So Method
- 26:22Speaker 1: Man and Ray Kwan there's a torture skit on Wu Tang.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Now mind you, I am probably nine years old listening
- 26:30Speaker 1: to this really loud in my room as a child,
- 26:34Speaker 1: listen to the skit, I.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Should have listened like called you. When I was listening
- 26:40Speaker 2: to the albums, I thought it was cross.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Please go on another. I want when you're working on
- 26:44Speaker 1: your next album, I'm gonna give you a fucking list ship.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I'll just send it.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Yo.
- 26:48Speaker 1: You got like you gotta listen to like Capital Punishment
- 26:51Speaker 1: by Big Punk. You gotta listen to fucking but Wu
- 26:54Speaker 1: Tang you got it Wu Tang Purple tap k I mean,
- 26:57Speaker 1: yeah you, I feel like you're.
- 26:59Speaker 2: With another another album. I thought it was classics that
- 27:02Speaker 2: people like kids would never understand it. They might understand
- 27:06Speaker 2: it if they gave it a chance. But that one
- 27:08Speaker 2: Scarfat's album with nas j z on oh.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Oh, you're talking about The Fix. The Fix one of
- 27:14Speaker 1: the greatest.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean insane.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I do believe that might have been my favorite album
- 27:19Speaker 1: in two thousand and six. There's a lot of good
- 27:22Speaker 1: downs that came on those six that was a five
- 27:25Speaker 1: mic album. Then that's my favorite nas verse, low key,
- 27:29Speaker 1: the nas verse on that went Crazy. It's like a
- 27:34Speaker 1: perfect verse. Yeah shouts, yeah shouts of the Fix. Man,
- 27:39Speaker 1: that's one of them. Yeah, you did some good diving
- 27:41Speaker 1: man for you, Man, you have been, in my opinion,
- 27:46Speaker 1: at least publicly to the hip hop fandom fan base, Uh,
- 27:52Speaker 1: somebody who's been a uniting force in your hometown. The
- 27:58Speaker 1: Controversy album was a fucking banger.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Appreciate you.
- 28:02Speaker 1: How big of a deal? Like it's been three years
- 28:04Speaker 1: since you guys made that project and probably a little
- 28:07Speaker 1: bit longer since you kind of brought you know, T
- 28:11Speaker 1: Grizzly inside a kind of back back together in a way.
- 28:15Speaker 1: M hm you kind of like in hindsight, man, that
- 28:18Speaker 1: was a big deal for the city. Do you like
- 28:19Speaker 1: ever think about like yo, like like you kind of
- 28:22Speaker 1: that's some like presidential shit to do.
- 28:25Speaker 2: I don't be thinking about it like that. I'd be
- 28:26Speaker 2: willing everybody to be cool. I'm a street guy and
- 28:32Speaker 2: like drama is drama that comes with it, But I
- 28:35Speaker 2: try to avoid all the drama that's possible. I try
- 28:38Speaker 2: to put make everybody love each other if I can.
- 28:42Speaker 2: If it's differences that could be settled, I try to.
- 28:44Speaker 2: I put my face on it, But if it can't
- 28:46Speaker 2: be settle, I won't.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Nah. I'm glad that you were able to do that,
- 28:49Speaker 1: and I just saw T just had his felony record expunged,
- 28:53Speaker 1: which is a big deal.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Shout out to T Grizzly to He's like, he's like
- 28:58Speaker 2: a big brother to me, a close friend. He always
- 29:01Speaker 2: looking out. He he just wanted to see people in
- 29:05Speaker 2: and that was a kick start to my career. I
- 29:07Speaker 2: want to say, like with that Gorgeous record.
- 29:09Speaker 1: If I say gorgeous was low key, like, I feel
- 29:11Speaker 1: like the first record wherever you went you heard it
- 29:14Speaker 1: in the club. It could be in the Midwest, it
- 29:17Speaker 1: could be an asy, it could be in La You're
- 29:19Speaker 1: hearing Gorgeous.
- 29:20Speaker 2: I think that was like one of the kick starts
- 29:22Speaker 2: for one of like my My Girl Record season.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Yeah, because then you have Bae Bay's a fucking joint,
- 29:30Speaker 1: my ma, all that type of stuff. You're on Thick one,
- 29:32Speaker 1: which was also shot too uh for two. But yeah, no,
- 29:35Speaker 1: you definitely do you feel like when you are kind
- 29:39Speaker 1: of because I feel like you have a female following
- 29:41Speaker 1: that loves you. Is it hard to, like, you know,
- 29:48Speaker 1: be in a relationship when there's so many bitches probably
- 29:50Speaker 1: throwing it at you.
- 29:51Speaker 2: I actually just got out of a six year relationship.
- 29:53Speaker 1: So you're single now. Yeah, well is that a I mean,
- 29:57Speaker 1: do you feel good about that?
- 29:58Speaker 2: I mean, I'm a family guy, so I cherished my
- 30:01Speaker 2: family and it was kind of hard to break off
- 30:04Speaker 2: from my family.
- 30:04Speaker 1: I loved her life. I still love her, right. I
- 30:07Speaker 1: feel like the hardest part about that shit is obviously
- 30:09Speaker 1: the girl. But then also, like you're close with her family.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I'm sure that family out out.
- 30:13Speaker 1: It's like, you don't just lose one person, you lose
- 30:15Speaker 1: like all her people too.
- 30:17Speaker 2: I don't think I gotta lose all their people, but
- 30:21Speaker 2: like I've been knowing her daughter since she was seven
- 30:24Speaker 2: years old. She's thirteen. Also, like kids lived everything, Like, yeah,
- 30:29Speaker 2: you helped raise your kid. That's my little baby for sure.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Yeah. No, is that hard like for you, Like, is
- 30:35Speaker 1: it hard to focus on rolling out an album while
- 30:37Speaker 1: also going through that type of shit?
- 30:41Speaker 2: I try to block that out of my mind.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 2: When it comes to my work, I try to leave
- 30:46Speaker 2: my work and my personal life separate. I really it's
- 30:50Speaker 2: a lot for me to talk about it just now.
- 30:52Speaker 2: So yeah, but it was a chapter in my life
- 30:55Speaker 2: and be strong. Now.
- 30:56Speaker 1: My son and his girl just broke up and they
- 30:58Speaker 1: were together from like fifteen to now and he's twenty.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Oh yeah he's he's not.
- 31:05Speaker 1: He's going through a lout right now for sure. What
- 31:09Speaker 1: is your I mean if you go Like like I said,
- 31:11Speaker 1: I was reading a lot of the lyrics from this project.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Do you have a favorite verse on the album?
- 31:17Speaker 2: It veries? Some days I like the no Tears verse.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Oh some days I like the paranoid verse, Product of
- 31:26Speaker 2: My Environment verse.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Is there any like particular bars from any of those
- 31:30Speaker 1: verses that you could share that you're just like, yeah, this,
- 31:32Speaker 1: this is this these like I don't know if it's
- 31:34Speaker 1: a line or something where you're just like, I don't know.
- 31:42Speaker 1: I like the whole verses for Yeah, that's fair. Talk
- 31:47Speaker 1: to me about your relationship with Chris Brown. This is
- 31:49Speaker 1: a guy who also has been very early on embracing
- 31:51Speaker 1: you over the years.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Chris Brown just bro like at first. It wasn't even
- 31:57Speaker 2: just working like like he just broke like like my
- 32:03Speaker 2: generation Michael Jackson. He always showed me love and it's crazy.
- 32:08Speaker 2: I'd be like, damn this CB. Like I've been to
- 32:11Speaker 2: like three four of him and Usher shows. I text
- 32:14Speaker 2: him like, bro, I want to pull up. He like, bro,
- 32:16Speaker 2: pull up? You talk about pull up and.
- 32:17Speaker 1: He's got the little after Why don't know on this
- 32:20Speaker 1: stour if he's got it. But on the Breezy Ball
- 32:21Speaker 1: he had like every show had like a he creates
- 32:25Speaker 1: like a damn near club at the venue after.
- 32:27Speaker 2: The show man. I don't know, but vibes one thing
- 32:32Speaker 2: about CB bro he's such a good person and I
- 32:36Speaker 2: just want to chill my hat to him for him.
- 32:39Speaker 2: He just being such a great person. I it's crazy
- 32:43Speaker 2: how a lot of people, like in the rat world,
- 32:48Speaker 2: they like like it be is what it is, or
- 32:51Speaker 2: they would be like extra standoff is with me and
- 32:54Speaker 2: he's Chris Brown and he like embraced me, so that'd
- 32:56Speaker 2: be cool.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you probably deal with that a lot, running into
- 32:59Speaker 1: people of the clor running into people like these big weekends,
- 33:02Speaker 1: we gotta work tappy. But then it's like it's a
- 33:05Speaker 1: very like finnicky space the music industry.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Yeah, but like Michael Jackson fuck with me, So it's like,
- 33:11Speaker 2: but if Chris Brown fuck with me, that's fifty with me.
- 33:15Speaker 1: You guys, what was the game you were playing when
- 33:18Speaker 1: you won three hundred thousand dollars? Is it blackjack? Is
- 33:22Speaker 1: it roulette? Crowds?
- 33:23Speaker 2: I had bet on a game was a sports the
- 33:26Speaker 2: Lions versus the forty nine ers, and I just won. Yeah,
- 33:29Speaker 2: we beat the as. Shout out to my guy Rob G.
- 33:32Speaker 2: We beat the fuck out of your he's a forty
- 33:34Speaker 2: nine Ers fan. Fucked them up.
- 33:36Speaker 1: So you bet you? Was it money line? No? With
- 33:40Speaker 1: the spread?
- 33:41Speaker 2: Ah, this is my first time bet. It was a parlay.
- 33:45Speaker 2: This is my first time ever betting. I haven't really
- 33:48Speaker 2: done it since because I just don't. I don't be
- 33:51Speaker 2: doing that. That's his laying. He forced me to bet,
- 33:54Speaker 2: and he really I was about to bet more, but
- 33:57Speaker 2: he stopped me.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Smart. That's a fucking parlay man. Parlays are like lottery tickets. Bro.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I hit it, yeah, but he stopped me from
- 34:05Speaker 2: ben I could have made a million dollars.
- 34:06Speaker 1: There's certain like I've so some people would win a
- 34:10Speaker 1: parlay like that and then they become addicted and then
- 34:12Speaker 1: like their life becomes ruined. And then you'll see him
- 34:15Speaker 1: in Vegas at the blackjack tablet like five am, and
- 34:17Speaker 1: you're like, I know you ain't getting booked right now.
- 34:24Speaker 1: So's got a problem. But I went through a very
- 34:27Speaker 1: rough gambling phase. And there's a quarterback for the Jets
- 34:31Speaker 1: named Mike White. He was the third string quarterback like
- 34:35Speaker 1: four or five years ago. M hm, who was the starter?
- 34:39Speaker 2: You owe him money?
- 34:40Speaker 1: No, No, four or five years ago. I forget who
- 34:42Speaker 1: the Jets starter was. But whatever the case is, the
- 34:44Speaker 1: starter was like out and I was like, oh, third
- 34:47Speaker 1: string quarterback? Who the fuck is Mike White playing the Bengals?
- 34:50Speaker 1: This when the Bengals are like a playoff team, like
- 34:52Speaker 1: good boy, like good. It might have been the year
- 34:54Speaker 1: they went to the Super Bowl, Loki. So I just
- 34:57Speaker 1: I think I put like twenty five grand on the
- 34:59Speaker 1: game and White fucking bangles for like four hundred yards. Bro.
- 35:03Speaker 1: If I ever see Mike White, I'm fucking that dude up,
- 35:07Speaker 1: fat motherfucker.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Yeah, the best game of his life.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Bro. Then you have like it's it's unhealthy because like
- 35:15Speaker 1: when you get like super I mean, you know, in Detroit,
- 35:18Speaker 1: gambling is a big thing, so you probably have a
- 35:20Speaker 1: lot of homies to do the sports gambling and shit.
- 35:22Speaker 1: But like, Bro, you start like, don't let me see
- 35:24Speaker 1: these motherfuckers at the club. Dog, how you not get
- 35:27Speaker 1: four rebounds? Bro? But you're over here partying at eleven eleven?
- 35:30Speaker 1: You fuck anyway, You're smart to have stopped gambling, is
- 35:35Speaker 1: what I'm trying to say. Do you have any habits?
- 35:36Speaker 1: Any bad habits?
- 35:38Speaker 2: I got bad?
- 35:39Speaker 1: What about good habits? What's good? The good ones? Anything?
- 35:41Speaker 1: You're like you just like to do a lot that
- 35:43Speaker 1: you're just like, I got fucking video gaming? Is it?
- 35:47Speaker 2: I think I go work out every day.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Well that's good, that's a good habit.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I just started to happen like November last year. My
- 35:55Speaker 2: life is really structured. My house is.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Quiet, so super disciplined.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm a guy.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Well then what's your bad habit? Then?
- 36:08Speaker 2: I don't know. Sometimes I feel like I'm too nice.
- 36:11Speaker 2: That's a bad habit.
- 36:12Speaker 1: People take advantagy.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't let people take advantage of me, but try.
- 36:17Speaker 1: But it can happen when you're like out of your
- 36:19Speaker 1: way nice to your homies or the people you give
- 36:20Speaker 1: a fuck about.
- 36:21Speaker 2: But I'm out of my way nice to everybody.
- 36:23Speaker 1: So for sure, especially if it's someone close to you,
- 36:26Speaker 1: like I believe in you more than you believe in you.
- 36:28Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Like a lot of stuff
- 36:31Speaker 2: come to bite me in my ass.
- 36:32Speaker 1: For sure, I can relate. I can relate, all right.
- 36:36Speaker 1: So the album's dropping nine days from now, that's next Friday.
- 36:42Speaker 1: I'm pretty excited for you because it feels like this
- 36:44Speaker 1: is gonna be a life changing body of work for
- 36:47Speaker 1: you and especially I feel like in the way hip
- 36:49Speaker 1: hop looks at you, that makes sense. What is the
- 36:53Speaker 1: price of fame?
- 36:55Speaker 2: The price of fame is everything that everybody, not just me,
- 37:01Speaker 2: go through to be successful. You know, like spending time
- 37:04Speaker 2: with your family, sacrificeing childhood. I might want to do
- 37:08Speaker 2: drugs and do all that stuff. I couldn't. I didn't
- 37:10Speaker 2: want to. I didn't do that just to be successful.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Even just like relocation, I had to relocate and sacrifice
- 37:19Speaker 2: for the betterment of me and my family. Everything that
- 37:23Speaker 2: goes into being successful is the price of fame. So
- 37:26Speaker 2: everybody has a price success costs. So you might want
- 37:31Speaker 2: to kick it with your kids right now, but you
- 37:33Speaker 2: interview on the skill of Baby, so it's like it's
- 37:36Speaker 2: a price for everything.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, look, it's two twenty seven on a Tuesday.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I'm okay, be in here. They'll be fair. My kids
- 37:44Speaker 1: are pain in my ass, God bless them. I noticed
- 37:47Speaker 1: Tomb has a lot of production on here. Tomb is obviously,
- 37:50Speaker 1: you know, shit, one of the goats especially when you
- 37:53Speaker 1: think about like trap music and TI sound. How'd you
- 37:57Speaker 1: guys ended up like linking up together? Shot? Also books,
- 37:59Speaker 1: The Beat got a lot of books. Is that motherfucker
- 38:02Speaker 1: to buogs.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Beasts rand hundred Mars fifteen hundred, go Griz Warren Campbell,
- 38:10Speaker 2: I had a lot of goats. And we did like
- 38:13Speaker 2: a camp for this album and were camped in there
- 38:16Speaker 2: for like a month or two and we just all
- 38:18Speaker 2: put it, poured in, poured into it and put it
- 38:21Speaker 2: all on the line. We all had input with the lyrics,
- 38:25Speaker 2: we all co produced, we all did everything. So this
- 38:30Speaker 2: is one of those albums that was just like it
- 38:32Speaker 2: took a village to raise a child, So this is
- 38:35Speaker 2: like this is this album is a product of all.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Of us twenty two songs, which means you probably were
- 38:42Speaker 1: picking between like thirty five of them.
- 38:44Speaker 2: There was a lot of music.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty two is a lot.
- 38:47Speaker 2: It's like seventeen songs like but the sk.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Sk the skits here man, So listen, get the album
- 38:54Speaker 1: supported any tour stuff coming up?
- 38:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna be torn probably later on in the year.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Are you disappointed with your Pistons offseason? They did nothing
- 39:04Speaker 1: to address their.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Issues go piss and shout out Tom Gore, k Connie,
- 39:10Speaker 2: he's what it is. We'll be back.
- 39:12Speaker 1: I was thinking they were gonna sign like try to
- 39:14Speaker 1: get a shooter or somebody they need a score.
- 39:17Speaker 2: I feel like, okay, I like Isaiah Joe.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Did you guys get Isaiah Joe? He was good on
- 39:23Speaker 1: the thunder. Yeah.
- 39:24Speaker 2: I like Isaiah Joe. So that that pick up. I
- 39:27Speaker 2: think that was good.
- 39:28Speaker 1: What about Duran are you excited to is he coming back? Like?
- 39:32Speaker 1: What is going on with that?
- 39:33Speaker 2: I don't I don't know if he's coming back. But
- 39:35Speaker 2: if he, if he is, he's a He's an All
- 39:39Speaker 2: NBA thirteen we'll love to have.
- 39:41Speaker 1: He had a great season, not a great playoffs.
- 39:44Speaker 2: I mean, I look at him like a rookie.
- 39:46Speaker 1: So I look at him like Duay I used to
- 39:48Speaker 1: look at DeAndre Ayton as a Suns fan.
- 39:50Speaker 2: No, I think he's better than DeAndre me personally.
- 39:53Speaker 1: I hope for you guys.
- 39:54Speaker 2: I mean, I think he has a tremendous upside if
- 39:57Speaker 2: we do keep him, I think he gets better. If
- 39:59Speaker 2: we don't keep, you have a good career.
- 40:02Speaker 1: If Isaiah Thomas is the greatest Piston of all time
- 40:06Speaker 1: because he is is that fair you say that? Yeah?
- 40:11Speaker 2: What do you?
- 40:12Speaker 1: Has Kid cracked the top five yet?
- 40:14Speaker 2: I think so?
- 40:15Speaker 1: Yeah, But but he's a round five.
- 40:17Speaker 2: I don't know he can't crack the top five because
- 40:20Speaker 2: we have starting five from oh Ford. That really did
- 40:23Speaker 2: to think.
- 40:24Speaker 1: About to say, Rip Hamilton that that team Chauncey that's
- 40:29Speaker 1: starting five is just Joe Dumars, Bill Lambier.
- 40:33Speaker 2: But that's starting five from oh four. You gotta think
- 40:35Speaker 2: the starting five from oh four beat the Lakers, checking
- 40:39Speaker 2: Kobe and everybody. They beat my favorite player.
- 40:43Speaker 1: So, yeah, you were conflicted because you are a big
- 40:46Speaker 1: Kobe meat writer. Well, one day he came in into
- 40:51Speaker 1: Kobe Jersey and we had a whole conversation. He's he
- 40:55Speaker 1: was a bigger Kobe fan than Piston. Is that when
- 40:58Speaker 1: you were growing up? Were you a bigger Kobe fan
- 40:59Speaker 1: or Pistons fan? Mhm? Such a serious grown skill of baby.
- 41:05Speaker 1: We can't even have these conversations. I want everybody to
- 41:08Speaker 1: go back into the Bootleg head podcast archives can watch
- 41:11Speaker 1: how Unwrapped.
- 41:12Speaker 2: I Lost Kobe. We're not gonna say nothing negative about Kobe.
- 41:15Speaker 1: No, I love Kobe.
- 41:17Speaker 2: We're not gonna say.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Are you bigger? Were you, okay, growing up bigger Kobe
- 41:20Speaker 1: got a bigger Pistons guy.
- 41:22Speaker 2: It depends on what era when the Pistons was losing
- 41:26Speaker 2: and Kobe was winning. For sure, Kobe's my favorite player.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Piston is my favorite team.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, by the way, I think k it's probably
- 41:34Speaker 1: like seventh whole time.
- 41:36Speaker 2: We got a lot of players starting five. From oh four,
- 41:38Speaker 2: you got Grant Hill, Grant Heell, you got Isaiah so
- 41:44Speaker 2: that's already seven right there. Then joke I like Dennis
- 41:51Speaker 2: rob Man, Bill lambier Ben there, Bill Lamberd. Then you
- 41:55Speaker 2: got a I came over here. That's my original favorite player.
- 41:59Speaker 2: I'm not talking about his era up in Detroit, but
- 42:01Speaker 2: that's my original favorite player. Then he got to play
- 42:04Speaker 2: on the Pistons where.
- 42:05Speaker 1: He came on you want to play for the Raptors,
- 42:07Speaker 1: just remember that.
- 42:08Speaker 2: So but he came on a fast break, put that
- 42:10Speaker 2: bitch behind his back, then flip that bitch with the
- 42:13Speaker 2: other hand, like.
- 42:14Speaker 1: You gotta think, like, don't forget Jerry Stackhouse.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Jerry Stackhouse a little bit.
- 42:19Speaker 1: He was nice, he was cool, but he.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Had Grant Hill. That that was Grant Hill era of Detroit.
- 42:25Speaker 2: So Atkins, Chuckie Atkins was cool, but kay probably top ten.
- 42:30Speaker 2: He's top ten right now. You gotta think. I like
- 42:33Speaker 2: players like Lindsay Hunter, like he played, was.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Nice, ended up being a head coach of the Sons
- 42:39Speaker 1: and was not very good lasted one season.
- 42:43Speaker 2: I'm talking about Pistons Lindsay Hunter. He was great Pistons.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Lindsay Hunter was. I got Antonio, Mick Dice like these
- 42:49Speaker 2: some of my favorite players from the Pistons.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Clarence Weatherspoon, I don't know him. I don't know him
- 42:55Speaker 1: cut as a kid. I was hoping big things for him.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Didn't work out. But the man, I appreciate you pulling up,

- 43:15Speaker 1: might as well est GMI.
- 43:17Speaker 2: I don't know nothing about that.
- 43:19Speaker 1: But he walked off. He walked off the set.
