- 0:00SPEAKER_02: There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: Shining at the end of every day.
- 0:08SPEAKER_02: There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Welcome to A Mons and Main Street Man.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: I am the one, the only co-host to Sean McCall.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: I'm Tristan Tapscott.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: And I am the one and only co-host to Tristan Tapscott.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: I am Sean McCall.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I think you're just the Sean McCall, and then I'm lucky to be the co-host to the Sean McCall.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: If you Google Sean McCall, there's like four that come up.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: One is a black photographer in LA, and I think he's I think he's more got more, you know, internet space than I do.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Well, if you Google me, you'll either find me or you'll find a distant cousin of mine, also named Tristan Tapscott, who is a filmmaker in Toronto.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: I will say that that uh we were in the car discussing the facts that you can have AI ask you about yourself, and one of the people in the car decided to ask it about me.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: And it it was interesting.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's very flattering.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Geppetto, Geppetto will just charm the socks off you.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what did they say about you?
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, I don't remember, but I had, you know, I had a distinguished career in musical theater and oh sure.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: You know, and uh and also I was the I was a I co-hosted a podcast with a fellow actor, Tristan Topscott, that, you know, was was I don't know, it wasn't international.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know, Google it your AI it yourself, because we sounded impressive.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: It actually said we average about 3,500 listeners an episode.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: And I was like, it won't even tell Tristan that, but I bet AI's got computer friends.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the the latest analytics on how many people are listening, even if it's for a second, uh according to because okay, so things like if they misclick on us, they're like trying to get beyond the mouse and they accidentally hit us instead.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Well, I will say, so I did switch all of our like hosting over to a different site, and because um create the Spotify Creator thing that I was using, which a lot of people use, stopped giving analytics, like they were giving analytics, if you remember for a time, and then they stopped.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: So I switched over to this buzz, it's called Buzz Sprout.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Um, and it's a hosting that sounds like something you would get at a dispensary.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: I know the Buzz Sprout and I was trying to find it because this is actually pretty slick, and I will say the stats um all right, so around we average according to this, about 13,700 listeners per week.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Now, that does not mean per episode, that just means that's how many people are listening to any episode that we've done of the 200 and some odd or 248 now.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: So gee, thank you, 13,000 people.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: We appreciate it.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: And thank you for attending our staff meeting.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes, thank you.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: I'm glad you guys could be here for it.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: I just find that fascinating that like that's what it is, you know.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: Uh like in the last seven days, we've had like 2,056 downloads, but then listens across 248 episodes this week is like thir a little over 13,000.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: So I have no idea.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm still trying to figure out the back end of this to try to figure out like well, good luck.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: I'm just glad whoever is listening is listening.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: I know it's kind of fun either way, and there's 117 countries.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Uh wow.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: I hope they can understand us.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: 1700 cities.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, it's kind of crazy, actually.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Top episode.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Uh AJ Wolf, of course.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Um I don't bet, I don't doubt that.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Thanks, AJ, for coming on.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: We sure appreciate it.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: So, anyway, that's yeah, it's kind of interesting.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Um, but anyway, yeah, enough about the uh the staff meeting's over, but we'll move into but how's everything going out in New Mexico?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: We can we can how's you know, this is in real time, by the way.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: This is not us pretending it is, and oh my god, it's been so long, and we had to sit on the knowledge that we had bouncing honey pots coming.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: And I I warned people, I was like, the episode that's gonna drop on the 15th has the biggest off the rails we've ever done.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: And and so it's just been but but out here in New Mexico to answer your question, it's it's going great.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: The show is great, uh, it's a really terrific cast and some phenomenal performances, and audiences, I think, are not quite sure what they're getting with Jekyll and Hyde, but once they get it, they like it, I think.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: So that's fun, yeah.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: And how about in the quad cities there with you?
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, kind of similar situation.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Rock of Ages is going really well, it's super fun, it's a silly show, but audiences sometimes aren't sure what to think of it.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: But the audiences that are like digging it and they're starting to grow, so we're starting to get bigger houses, and it's just a blast.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Rock of Ages is so fun, and uh yeah, I'm having a great time.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Well, and they should check out your 21 Minutes podcast over at Circuit 21.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: I yes, I also host a podcast over at Circuit 21 called 21 Minutes.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: We just we we interview people that have been involved with Circa from even back in the days, which we're starting to do some more like some of the folks that were around in the 70s.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: So that's kind of exciting.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: And uh yeah, so you should check that out too.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: But yeah, there's all kinds of things going on all the time.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: And and we should probably discuss Disney, or those 13,000 people are gonna go listen to something else.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and speaking of Disney, uh, just special shout out to two friends we have at Disney right now.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Actually, as you listen to this, um Kimberly's there at the Disney World, and Jonathan Gardner's there.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Jonathan Gardner just sent us a picture of him having the corndog at sleepy hollow.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: He did.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: He took he took the leap of faith and has had the uh the sleepy hollow corndog.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: I'm so happy he joined the club.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: Club corndog, we call it.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: It's a lot easier to get into than club 33, I'll tell you that.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's a there's uh it's easy, it's uh it's still exclusive, but it's the corndog club.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Uh the mouse the we gotta come up with a name for that.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: We'll have to it's we'll work on that.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the corndoge.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: If anybody can do it, it's us.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, and I will have just I will have just driven home from Disneyland as well when this airs.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Yes, yeah, I'm very excited about it.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: And going to the bash.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's exciting.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: And you know, and uh yeah, and and you know, I appreciate everybody still listening to us, especially after the chaos that that they're like, I tuned in to listen about Muppets Haunted Mansion, and it's been 18 minutes, and they're still talking about their careers.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: So yeah, so anyway.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: And their random trips.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we'll move into that.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: But yeah, we're gonna it's spooky season, man.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: It's Halloween's this weekend, and uh, we're gonna talk about something that's near and dear to both of our hearts, but they've just you know kind of married each other, which is Haunted Mansion and the Muppets, the Muppet Haunted Mansion movie, which is one of my favorites.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: I don't think I'd seen it because it's when did it come out?
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: Two years ago, three years ago?
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, two or three years ago.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and because uh I just I hadn't watched it recently, and the other night I was like, it's Halloween-ish.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: How about we put on Muppets Haunted Mansion?
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: And people were like, sure.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I forgot some of this stuff.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: It's it's good.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: I I this is an episode I really had trouble limiting myself to five things that I would talk about.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, this was tough.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: But I uh so Muppet Ha Muppets Haunted Mansion, if you haven't seen it, you you need to go check it out because and also it's on Disney Plus.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: It's been on there for a couple years.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: So if you haven't seen it, then that's whatever.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: And I don't know, I don't know.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: This will probably have some spoilers because you've had the couple three years to watch this thing.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: Uh so if you don't want any spoilers, pause the episode now and go watch.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: And I think what makes Muppets Haunted Mansion like so delightful is it's uh it's like more than just like one of those Halloween parodies, it's them giving like writing such a love letter to Haunted Mansion, and it has and you know we'll get into these, but there's so many references, there's just stupid comedy, and and a few characters who just finally get the spotlight they just made a living on stupid comedy.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: We have, and we're still here.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: We know stupid comedy, we do, and it's just so lovely and fun, and I forgot how much I liked it.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: I I watched it late last night and just had a ball.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: So let's get into it here, Mr.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: McCall.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: What's your number five on your list here?
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Well, I totally, totally, because I had so many things I love about this, I totally Mangelloed this.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: So maybe okay, because maybe some of yours, maybe, maybe you've like individualized some of this, but my number five is just the humans.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Because I'm starting with them.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: So did do you have any of these humans singularly on your list?
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: I do have a singular human on my list later.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: So yes.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: Well, I just, you know, because I remember when the Muppet movie came out, way back when, and you know, and and of course the Muppet Show, too.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: And it was it's always been about, you know, these humans interacting with the Muppets, and it's just magical because it it puts them sort of in our world, and it's just so, and I mean, and there's just so many amazing humans in this in this uh, you know, Will Arnett is he, I suspect, maybe one of your singular one.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: Well, then we'll talk more about him later, but I mean, just Taraji P.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: Henson as the bride is is quite and Darren Chris in the graveyard.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: I'm like, this is just and oh, and oh my god, uh John Stamos when he does his thing, came out and and Yvette Nicole Brown as the limbo driver that takes him out.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: And Ed now here were two I didn't even realize.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: Or well, at least Pat Say Jack is one of the singing busts.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: I didn't know that.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: I didn't know that either.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: I watched I watched the credits and was like, wait, what?
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's so funny.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: And uh and Ed Asner I is one of the ghosts in the graveyard.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: I was like, what?
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Well, oh right, yeah, of course that's Ed Asner.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Um and then for all us Disney nerds, they put in Kim Irvine.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: I was because when I I was like, wait a minute, is that Kim Irvine who's a maid?
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: And as we all know, mostly who listen to this podcast, her mother was Leota, correct?
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: Yes, and then Kim did stuff for for the floating ball.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: So uh, but I just to me the humans are just a magical part of the Muppets, even though they're not Muppets.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: If they were, they would then the human factor wouldn't make any sense.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: Um but so so I manjelloed all of the humans into my number five.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: That's okay.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: So I monjelloed uh the the songs into my okay.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: I'm very glad because I didn't have room for them in my list and I was gonna make them an honorable mention.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: So I'm very Yeah, it's tough because the original songs give uh it's you know, like all Muppet movies do, that gives it their identity instead of just making it kind of a series of haunted mansion tunes, you know what I mean?
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: But like uh the three that I mentioned here is the rest in peace, which is the intro uh introduces the mansion's supernatural residence, and uses so many of the tombstones.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: So many, it's so good.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: Um, and then I I specifically mentioned life hereafter, uh, which is great.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: But the is that the one with like floating Kermit?
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but the one that gets me though is the tie the knot tango.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: Uh oh yeah, oh my god.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: It's uh Pepe's big number with Constance Hatchaway.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: And I just think like there's so many in there, but those three, especially the tie the knot tango, my god, I think just Pepe the Prawn is just one of the best things ever created.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: He does he does some of his best work, I feel.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: Honestly.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: I think he's really hitting his stride now as in as as his career advances and and he begins to be a seasoned prawn.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, it's good to be a seasoned prawn.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Uh seasoned prawn.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: Is that a good band?
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: I don't I think that I think that was a name that Shrimp mulch tried out and decided not to go.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Oh, shrimp mulch, man.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: That is a an all-time favorite for me.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Seasoned prawn, I think, just raised to sure.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: He's like at the star of an Indian movie, Season Prawn.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Um that's that's my number five are the original songs.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: Uh all of them are great, but those three in particular.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: So there you go.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, there you are.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Hello.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, did I disappear?
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, you did.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: You did.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: Well, you did or I did.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: It sounded like you did, but you know what?
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: All right, well then we're gonna find out me asking what happened.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: Um so so did we cover all the music?
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: We covered all the music, yes.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: So number four for you, sir.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: All right, so my number four, my number four are the Kermit and Piggy Halloween costumes at their costume party.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: When when Gonzo calls them, because you know, in in typical, like it's become a thing in Disney where the characters dress up as other characters, but to see Kermit dressed as Piggy and Piggy dressed as Kermit, I I feel is a very special meta moment.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: Uh that's great.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: So my number four is Kermit and Piggy's Halloween costumes.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: So my number four are again low Lou Mongelloed here again, is the cameos.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: Not necessarily the cameos, but like the supporting uh Muppets, because uh it is Sattler and Waldorf remaining uh professional hecklers even in the afterlife.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: I will I will say they're I will say they're my number three, so we can talk about them in a second.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: But and then Miss Piggy as Madame Pagoda, great.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, oh my god, yes.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: And there's so many of those cameos you mentioned.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Well, and even because what is it Wayne and Wanda that were on the Muppet Show that are like dancing ballroom ghosts?
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: I think so, yeah.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: It's and I just go, oh, and and that the dog that's in the graveyard.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because he's he's been around that you uh and Bobo.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: I saw Bobo in something.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: Yes, Bobo's in there, and then I I think what I love because this happens in the other in a lot of the Muppet movies, but I do love seeing the characters that you already know reimagined, as in this case, ghosts and ghouls and supernatural oddballs, because it's just it's like that thing you know, but it's just like done a little differently just to make you chuckle.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: And I always appreciate that kind of thing.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: So that is my number four are the various cameos because there's not one I could pick that I really love, but you have one.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: But I did.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: I picked because I mean, yes, you're absolutely right.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: Statler and Waldorf, who we all love, Muppet Vision 334D, 3D, May She Rest in Peace, uh, and you know, as well as Muppet Show, and they're just classic, but then you stick them in a doom buggy, oh, and they float and they float in and out of scenes, and then they break down.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: They break down and they get the broken down haunted mansion message, and that is just pure gold.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: It is gold, yes.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: Got it.
- 16:54SPEAKER_01: So that's that's why I I went I gave an entire slot, my number three slot, to Statler and Waldorf in their Doom Buggy.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: So that kind of ties into my number three because oh god, I mom jelloed this one too, but it's for a good reason.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: I hope he gets a royalty.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: Well, actually, I don't.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: We can't afford that because we don't have a sponsor.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: I know he should just be glad.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: Uh, the Easter eggs, just in general, and you mentioned Statler and Waldorf in the Doom Buggy that breaks down.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: I have that on this list.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: Uh one of the funniest things because that just happens all the time, but I have the stretching room, um, the portraits getting reimagined with the Muppet characters.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: Um my god, Janice.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: Janice as uh what do we decide her name?
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: Daisy?
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: Some when we were doing Jackie's costume, I I found Daisy because I think of the print on her skirt, but I don't know.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: I think she's got another name too, but but yeah, and the pigs that are stacked and oh who's the who is the who is the guy on the dynamite?
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, um I can picture yeah that's who I'm going that's who I'm going as to my stretching room.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: Um I just also love like it's room nine nine hundred and ninety-nine.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: That's good.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: Well, yes, and then when it and then when the thing on the door acts flips down and it's 660.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: So I was like, brilliant.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: Well, and and even the flaw, even the floating candle abra.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, that's good.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: I'm like, they just are so good about doing the callbacks to the attraction for those who know.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: And like that doom buggy moment where it breaks down, but also the no-flash photography warning.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: I think that's great.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, yes.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: Um, in a room full of ghosts is funny.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: Cause wait, it does because does uh Will Arnette give that one?
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Will Arnette does that.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: Um, but I just think it like those little things, especially like it's weird though, like it is tailored just for Haunted Mansion fans, too.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: Like, because like a lot of those little Easter egg things, like the breakdown doom buggy thing is just I laugh so hard.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: I was like, well, they're so aware of this, and I love it when Disney gets self-aware.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: So that is my number three are the Easter eggs.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: Well, my number two, I I had to split.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: I I mean, I'm giving split focus here, and it goes sort of back to your cameo things because yes, Piggy as Madame Pigoda is especially when she gets self-referential about the fact that she's only a head floating in a ball, and that's not really the kind of role she was expected to play, and it's sort of beneath her.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: Uh, but I also gave a shout out to Hatbox Fozzie.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, yes, of course.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: To take, you know, to take such an ominous figure in the in the mansion lore and like turn it into Fozzie with those slightly crazy eyes, but it's like, okay, I'm seeing it.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: And then, you know, he's telling jokes and his head pops up in the in the hat box.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: I'm like, this is just this is delightful.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: This is a marriage of two things I love that that I really can get behind.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: I I'm sad I didn't mention the hat box, Fozzie.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: Um okay, so that was your number two.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: That was all right.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: My number two is Will Arnett being the absolutely perfect ghost host.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: There's something I mean, I love Will Arnett in general because the rest of development is so funny, but I know.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: There is I'm really sad he's gone from my favorite Lego show now.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: He's just he just has a certain thing about him, and what he's doing in this is so different than like his normal shtick.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: And he brings the uh I'm trying to figure out how to put this, but he brings like this right combination of sinister charm, but also like theatrical nonsense, if that makes any sense.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: Yes, I would go, I'd go see either of those bands.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: Sinister charm or what'd you say?
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Magical incest?
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Theatrical nonsense.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: Although theatrical nonsense.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: Although magical princess is also funny.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: I didn't say princess, I said incest, which is even worse.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: Wait, hold on.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: You said magical incest?
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: I thought that's what you said.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: It's just a bad game of telephone, is all it is.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: Um anyway.
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: We were talking about the incredible Will Arnet.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Oh, the incredible Will Arnet.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: Um I just also like that he kind of goes like full on Brince like Vincent Price in it too.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he ch he really does embrace the campiness and the aw.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: It's it's brilliant.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: But what he does too, he does that thing that like Tim Curry did so well in Treasure Island.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Is he treats the like ridiculousness of the Muppet world with like a complete seriousness?
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: And I watched um a Muppet Christmas Carol, and Michael Cain does that too.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: It's like it's it's like so serious.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Um I also the reveal, well, this is a spoiler, I guess, but the reveal that he's also connected to Gonzo's magician hero makes the role super fun too.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: So that's point number two is Will Arnett uh and the magical incest.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, may they might open for Bounce and Honeypot.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: I still think Bounce and Honeypot is so good.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: That is a that's a really good one.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: Oh well.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: We create them together.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: Um all right, so we're up to my number one.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Yes, we are.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: Well, my number one is a specific Easter egg.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: And it just I hadn't seen it before, and it made me laugh so hard when I realized what it was.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: And I don't know, maybe you maybe you noticed this, and I'm just a doofus for not seeing it before, but have you noticed the license plate on the limo in the beginning and the end?
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: Uh I don't know that I did.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: Well, there's two things.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, the actually it changes.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: The internet told me that because I was like, what is the what does it actually say?
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: Because that's not my Easter egg.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: The the light as they arrive, it is the number two, D I E and the number four.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: So it's I four and apparently at the end when she comes back to pick them up, it says D uh D uh hyphen E N D, so D end.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: But oh that's and that's that's great, but what the it is not that that I was just so enamored of.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Do you know what else is on the license plate?
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: No.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: What else what else appears on any other license plate that we are familiar with?
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: Oh well what what else appears on another license on any license plate that we are familiar with?
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: I have no idea.
- 24:14SPEAKER_01: What do you think?
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, what makes license plates different?
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: Like the states?
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: And what and I was I was curious, I was like, well, wait a minute, what state have they chosen?
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: Do you know what state they chose for the Haunted Mansion Muppets movie?
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: No, I don't, but it is it the land of Lincoln, because that would be No.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: That'd be well, that would be no.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: It actually said, and turn turn down your volume if you don't want to know, if you want to see it for yourself.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: It says right across the top, Corruptible Mortal.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Oh man, I didn't ever catch that.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: I'll have to go back and watch that.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: When I I because I I was like, it was on a giant TV that we were watching it, and I was just the right level, and I was like, what does that say?
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, it says corruptible mortal mortal.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: That's and actually I was like, well, what what state have they chosen?
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: And I so I went into it going, well, what is the state?
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: And when I saw that it was corruptible mortal, I really lost it.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: Oh man.
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: Because that is somebody, that is somebody paying true homage.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: And I I wonder, it's like in the writer's room, did somebody go, Well, what state should we make the license plate?
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: And somebody went, I know what we're gonna make it.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: We're gonna make it corruptible.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Corruptible state.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: God corruptible mortal.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: Or did somebody like already have that joke in the in their head because they like use it with their family all the time and just went, Hey, I got an idea.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: God, that is brilliant though.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: To me, it was comedic brilliance and so hidden that I just I check it out because nothing could nothing could be better than going, well, what state is the license plate and going.
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: Apparently, corrupt no corruptible mortal.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: It says those two words.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: That is so funny, and I need to go check that out because that's brilliant.
- 26:03SPEAKER_01: That is so that is why that is why when we said we were doing this, I'm like, Well, I know what my number one is.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: What is your number one?
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: Corruptible, that's so funny.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: So my number one is Pepe the Prawn finally getting to be the star.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: Okay, because Pepe Show the shrimp some love.
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: He's an absolutely scene stealer prawn, yes.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: He's he's a really he's a scene stealer, he really is.
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: And I just he's a perfect like counter, you know, counterpart to Gonzo's kind of nervous excitement.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: And I think the two of them together are so funny, and he's got this like diva level confidence that I was not expecting from him, and I just I think it's I really liked seeing him move up the ranks instead of just being like kind of a background Muppet tossing out one like it's nice to see the character actor of the Muppets get his you know due.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: So I sort of get his own little starring role.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, the fact that he gets just so smitten by the fact that the bride knows he's a prawn.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: Oh god, it's like he's so flattered.
- 27:15SPEAKER_01: And then and that so much happens to him that's irreverent, and then at the very end, when you look at the tombstone that was being carved for him and it says pepper, it's like, oh my god, pepper.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: No, no, and as someone who gets their name misspelled a lot, I I I can relate to that.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: I just it's one of those, you know, the Muppets do this so well, and it was such a like obvious like pairing that I wish I would have thought of because the you know the shrimp and garlic butter, it's it's just like cafe and gonzo.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's like so what a good pairing.
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: And the haunted mansion is already kind of silly in general, so like their like weird and unexpected heartfeltness that the Muppets often have like goes so well with the Haunted Mansion, and it's a really solid, solid film.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: It really is.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: It's so funny.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: But I love Corrup Corruptible Mortal, that's that's really funny.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: I'm and if you're watching it on a small device, you'll never see it because you'll never be able to read that license plate.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: But well, it is sticky season, so you should go watch it.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: But hey, so you technically by the time this airs, you've already gotten back.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: You mentioned that before, but like what do you guys so talk about?
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: I do because I have a show tonight by the time you listen to this.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: So, what is your Disneyland uh extravaganza looking like?
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: What are you guys doing?
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: Well, because out here it's an 11-hour drive, which to me, people are like, You're gonna drive 11 hours.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: I'm like, do you know how far it is from my actual house?
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: From my actual house, it's like a 29-hour drive.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: So, uh, so it's an 11-hour drive, but uh, we obviously we have a show on Sunday that's a matinee, and then in the evening we will hang out and and go to bed early because the one thing I do insist on is that we leave.
- 29:09SPEAKER_01: Now, I was pushing five.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: I I have been persuaded to go with six.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: Um at least the time change goes with us, so it's sort of it to our benefit, but we will get there.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: We will do the whole like downtown Disney and the Disneyland Hotel stuff, Broken Spell Lounge, uh, you know, maybe an Earl of Sandwich, shop a little at World of Disney.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: Then uh, and here's the magic of Disney Vacation Club.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: Sometimes I had checked.
- 29:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, a lot of our friends are staying at the place where I put a lot of my clients at Disneyland when they're looking for something very budgety because it's just up the street.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: It's on Harbor, but it's like up across, you walk all the length of Disneyland and then you walk over the interstate and it's like another few blocks up there, but they don't charge for parking, which is something that a lot of the Disneyland hotel area hotels do.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: And this was extremely like well kept and clean, and because we stayed there a couple uh when we went with our friends Matt and Sarah last year, and uh we've had other friends stay there, so I know it's gonna be good and it's certainly budget-like, and that's where we all were supposed to stay, and it's where everyone but Jackie and I are staying because I went on the internet uh onto the DVC site the other night and typed in Monday, Tuesday dates, and all of a sudden there was a deluxe studio available in the so yeah, so I was like, okay, using some Disney points here and gonna stay at the Disneyland Hotel.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: So we're there, which is especially nice because Jackie is not going into Disneyland on Tuesday, which is our party day, uh, because we just got back and she's like, I don't, I don't need to do that.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: I will just hang out at the hotel.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: Well, now she's hanging out at the Disneyland Hotel.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: So she she get to be bougie.
- 31:08SPEAKER_01: Uh however, there are because there's 11 of us going, and uh and so there are, I guess there's eight of eight, seven other people and me.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: The seven other people were like, we we don't get to Disneyland very often.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: We want to go into Disneyland itself.
- 31:27SPEAKER_01: Um and so we will rope drop, which is 8 a.m., I guess, uh, and spend up until the party, uh, which the party is at three.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: Although I will probably have to run back to the hotel and put on my costume and such.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: But uh, and then you can get into California Adventure at 3 for Oogie Boogie's Bash, and the party is from 6 to 11.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: So which I find a little odd.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: I'm like, this is a Halloween party and it doesn't go till midnight.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: Uh Mr.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: Boogie, Mr.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: Boogie, you should listen to Mickey because Mickey's Mickey's party goes till midnight.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: So well that's exciting then.
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so and then, you know, full Disney Day, and then we will get back in the car on Wednesday, drive back here, so we're sure to be back for our show on Thursday.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: So, yes.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I'm super excited.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: And then I will do a recap with at least a few friends to sort of talk about what's what the bat what the bash was like.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Because I have never done it.
- 32:34SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to hear about it.
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: And you're going into rehearsal for a Christmas show, so the holidays shall change.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: Oh, the holidays are here.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: Ding dong, Marilyn Hi.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: Verily I say unto you, sir.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 32:49SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, I'm excited.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: Uh maybe one day uh soon we'll record in human form when you get back.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: That would be cool.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm back for a while.
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: So that would be exciting.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: I'll have to come out and have some meatballs.
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, that'd be nice.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: I didn't make it out there last year.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: I finally we finally ate the frozen meatballs that you didn't make last year.
- 33:14SPEAKER_00: I know it got a little crazy, and it will this year too, but I need to make time to come out and have some meatballs.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: That'd be lovely.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:24SPEAKER_00: All right, my friend.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: Well, you know what?
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: It is always a pleasure.
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: It certainly is.
- 33:29SPEAKER_00: And thank you all for listening, of course.
- 33:31SPEAKER_00: And as we say each and every week, friends, and we will see you.
