- 0:28enhancement to imessages security with a forthcoming iOS
- 0:3217.4 update. It introduces a new
- 0:35cryptographic protocol named PQ 3, which is aimed at bolstering
- 0:40encryption and providing protection against potential
- 0:43quantum computing. Threats of the company's
- 0:46security team heralds this development as a huge step
- 0:49forward in the realm of end to end messaging encryption,
- 0:52asserting that PQ3 positions iMessage as the premier
- 0:56messaging service in terms of security, surpassing all others
- 1:01in widespread use. The initiative is a proactive
- 1:04measure against the theoretical risk posed by quantum computing
- 1:08to current encryption standards and despite the non existence of
- 1:12quantum computers capable of such decryption at present,
- 1:15Apple is addressing the potential future scenario where
- 1:18such technology could be used maliciously to decrypt encrypted
- 1:22data. This anticipatory approach is
- 1:26informed by the belief that is necessary to start implementing
- 1:29defenses against these hypothetical feature threats
- 1:32well ahead of their materialization.

- 1:38achieve what the company describes as Level 3 security.
- 1:41This new standard devised by Apple indicates that imessages

- 3:50classical computer infrastructure.

- 3:59categorizing messaging security levels.
- 4:01This model highlights the progression from classical
- 4:04cryptography to quantum secure protocols, with most existing
- 4:09messaging services lacking in quantum security measures.
- 4:12Now the PQ3 protocol differentiates itself by
- 4:15incorporating post quantum cryptography not only in the
- 4:19initial key exchange but also in the ongoing message encryption
- 4:22process. This comprehensive application
- 4:25of PQC ensures that iMessage conversations are well protected
- 4:29against both current threats and those anticipated in the era of
- 4:34quantum computing. Now the design of PQ3 is a
- 4:38complete overhaul of imessages cryptographic protocol aiming to
- 4:42set a new standard and secure messaging.
- 4:44It integrates post quantum cryptography from the outset of
- 4:48conversations and introduces mechanisms to limit the impact
- 4:51of potential key compromises. And a hybrid approach in PQ3
- 4:55combines traditional elliptic curve algorithms with post
- 4:58quantum algorithms, ensuring that the new protocol security
- 5:01is never inferior to its predecessor.
- 5:03This design also optimizes message sides to prevent
- 5:06excessive overhead from the added security layers, and PQ3's
- 5:11introduction of a novel post Quantum Re keying mechanism

- 5:36vectors. It's a dual approach that
- 5:38maintains the integrity of message encryption even in the

- 5:53The process involved with collaboration of leading
