- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Now for the Class C game.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Oneana with currently New York State honorable mention versus Shenango Forks, who's currently ranked number one in New York State.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: That's a noon kickoff at Susquehanna Valley.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: For Oneana, it's been a Cinderella playoff run for the Yellow Jackets as they march into the Section 4 Class C title game on Saturday.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: An upset victory over Windsor 20-14 in the semifinals sent shockwaves throughout the Class C world.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: Lucas Weaver had a huge game on the ground for Oneana with 133 yards on 12 carries and one touchdown.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: The Jervis brothers were fantastic once again as Chase found Trey late in the fourth quarter on a 37-yard TD pass to seal the victory.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: Oneana knows they have their hands full with the top-ranked team in both Section 4 and the state.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: But what they do, they have to what do they have to lose?
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: It's a great opportunity.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: It's a great experience for a young team that should continue to get better over the next few years.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: James Erickson had 13 solo tackles against Windsor and also recovered a fumble.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: Oneana will need another big effort like that to try to slow down the high-powered offense of Shenango Forks.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Now on to the Blue Devils.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: One of New York State's most dominant teams, not just this season, but over multiple decades.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: It is not a surprise that they're ranked number one in New York State.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: They are undefeated at 9-0, and their closest game was a 7-6 victory, week zero, against a very good Ouigo team who was also playing for a Section 4 championship.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: I believe their two most impressive wins, both on the road, was their 42-19 win at Maine Enwell and their 31-13 win at Waverley against two strong programs.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: I'll begin with their defense, since that is my forte, and apparently that's where championships are won.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: The most points they allowed an opponent all season was 19.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: They held five teams to eight points or less.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: The total points they scored was 333, and the total they allowed is 93.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: That's a difference of 240 points, which is equal to 40 touchdowns.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: On offense, they are led by a seasoned standout triple threat signal caller Sam Paskey, who has the ability to run, pass, and make quick decisions.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Sam has been running the Shenango Forks offense for a few seasons.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: Shenango Forks also has a couple of game breakers at running back in Tate Bender and Bryson Fry.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: Oneana will definitely have their hands full on both sides of the ball.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Now on to the Class D game between number 10 ranked in New York State Trumansburg against the Tioga Tigers, who are currently ranked number one in New York State.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: That'll be a 3 p.m.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: kickoff at Susquehanna Valley.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: The Trumansburg Blue Raiders come in with a 7-3 record overall and a 4-1 in the division, which was good for second place.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: On the season so far, the Blue Devils are in their first season back in 11-player football for the first time since 2013.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: They did not have a team between 2014 and 2018 and were resurrected as an eight-player program in 2019 and played in eight player between then and 2024.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Things started off strong at 3-1, but then they lost two of their next three, including Tyoga 24-8.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: That was Trumanburg, Trumansburg's lowest point total they've had this season, but they limited Tyoga to their second lowest point total.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: They won their final two games of the regular season to Clint's second spot in Division 7 to make the playoffs.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: A Bulldogs TD got them back into it, but it wasn't enough.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: Some players to watch are Vinny King.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: He's a first-year sophomore quarterback.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: He's thrown for 1,911 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: Trumansburg offense is pretty pass heavy, so it will be interesting to see how that matches up against the run-heavy Tioga defense.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: Aiden Clark Chabez is a starting running back returning All-State Honorable Mention selection.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: He is a Swiss Army knife who can do it all.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: Defense, kicker, punter, you name it.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: He ran for 707 yards and eight touchdowns.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: Will Brainerd and DeVith Williams is a great wide receiver duo who combined for over 1,000 yards and 11 TDs.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Chris Clark Chavez is a freshman who leads in forced fumbles with five.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Trayvon Forrest is the sack leader with five, and Connor Sherwood is a leader in tackles with 57.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: A little background of the championship history.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: This is their fourth ever championship appearance and their third straight.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: The last two were in the eighth player, where they lost in 2023 to Moravia and beat Moravia last year to win their first ever sectional title.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Their only other championship appearance, this was in the 11th player, was in 2004, losing to the Class C final to Walton.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: The winner will host the Section 3 champion in regionals at Vestal.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Now for the New York State ranked number one Tioga Tigers.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: Tyoga opened the season with a 9-7 loss to Windsor in week 0-0.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Not only did Tioga barely reach 100 yards in total offense, but they lost three-year two-way starting lineman Derek Mills for the season.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: Tioga was forced to totally revamp its offensive line, moving tight end Gavin Kitchard inside, finding a new center and moving guys around.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: Two weeks later, the Tigers fell behind Deposit Hancock 12-0 in the first quarter, but rallied for a 35-31 win.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: In week two, Tioga trailed Delhi 7-6 at the half.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: In the second half, something clicked, and that something was Tioga tailback Logan Bellis, who missed all but one quarter of his junior season with a knee injury.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: Bellis ran for TDs of 46, 51, and 84 yards respectively in the second half to finish the game with 300 yards, three TDs on 19 carries.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: When Bellis started clicking, so did the Tioga offensive line and defensive unit.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: Since the deposit Hancock win, Tioga has allowed just 12 points per game, with a third of those points coming against Tiger Reserves.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: Bellis is not Tyoga's only weapon.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: They have a big fullback in Max Stodder and seniors Jaden Duncanson, Caden Cole, and Dominic Palmer, and Gage Hopkins, who have all made big contributions in the running game.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: Junior quarterback Jackson Bombard, who set out last season, has continued to improve his mastery of the offense and has become a weapon throwing the ball with three dangerous weapons in senior Dominic Palmer, Gavin Albrich, and sophomore Josh Rott.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: In its regular season win over Trumansburg, Bellis was an old-fashioned Tyoga workhorse with 30 carries for 279 yards and one TD.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: In all, the Tigers ran for 403 yards and only attempted two passes.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: Trumansburg moved the ball against Tyoga, but Caden Cole had a pair of interceptions to stop drives.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: Tyoga finished off the game with a 12-play, eight-minute drive that started at the two-yard line and ended in victory formation at the Trumansburg 12.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: The outlook for the game, Trumansburg has a puncher's chance to win thanks to QB Vinny King and good athletes on the perimeter.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: However, Tyoga has the clear advantage up front.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: If the Tigers limit Trumansburg's big plays and take care of the football, they are the clear favorite.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: Due to the possibility of last minute schedule changes, I recommend you contact your respective school for the latest school and schedule information.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: Best wishes to all those involved with these championships.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: For a positive, safe, injury-free, and memory-creating experience.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: Remember, these are young student athletes and not professionals.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: Also remember the third team on the field, the officials, that are doing the best they can to provide guidance and rule enforcement.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: Without the third team, we would not have these games.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: There is a certain finality to playoff games.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: Each game will be one of these teams' final game, and for the seniors, it could be their last game of organized football.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: I know it's easier said than done right now, but try not to be sad it's over, but be thankful it happened.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: Life is all about relationships and memories.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: Continue to make the best of both.
