- 0:08Speaker 1: Podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Art and
- 0:16Speaker 2: today we're joined by Steve Giannis, Randall, Brodie Seth and Cory.
- 0:20Speaker 2: This is episode one of the fourth annual Meet Eater
- 0:24Speaker 2: Trivia Championship. The competition will span three episodes. Whoever has
- 0:27Speaker 2: the most points after thirty questions will be declared the
- 0:30Speaker 2: newest Meat Eater Trivia Champion.
- 0:34Speaker 3: But first, before my.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Own question, Okay, when Phil had that little tissy, listeners
- 0:40Speaker 4: won't be able.
- 0:40Speaker 2: To Yeah, you know, we get a false start on
- 0:43Speaker 2: media trivia.
- 0:44Speaker 1: We ally was having that tissy. I answered my own question.
- 0:47Speaker 5: You need to write a name down on your board.
- 0:50Speaker 4: At this point, he knows, is this way you get
- 0:56Speaker 4: three episodes out of the championship.
- 0:58Speaker 2: You get three episodes night, that's right, Yeah, a whole
- 1:00Speaker 2: months of content. I would prefer if you put your
- 1:03Speaker 2: name on the white I'm Steve. Yeah, Steve. We had
- 1:07Speaker 2: we had to pause a story he was telling before
- 1:09Speaker 2: the MIC's turned on because it seemed too good to
- 1:12Speaker 2: not be recorded. Steve got an angry text from his wife.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah, is that where it all started? It was with
- 1:21Speaker 3: the text.
- 1:22Speaker 4: No, it started, so if I was gonna tell the
- 1:24Speaker 4: story to be this, it'd be like we were having
- 1:26Speaker 4: an exceptionally mild winner. I've extended my We've been catching
- 1:32Speaker 4: some coyotes and some boxes, and.
- 1:34Speaker 1: They are.
- 1:36Speaker 4: I don't know if this is the function of the
- 1:38Speaker 4: mild winner. They I have never seen fleas ever. I mean,
- 1:43Speaker 4: you've ever seen fleas like what you're seeing what you've seen? No,
- 1:51Speaker 4: never seen fleas like this. Okay, so bad? Well, yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 4: so bad that I cut my hand. Okay, so I
- 2:01Speaker 4: had to have my stories out of order. So bad
- 2:04Speaker 4: that we were skinning one and I had my shot
- 2:06Speaker 4: back running to shot back fleas. I'm skinning one in
- 2:15Speaker 4: my garage. I'm skinning a ky out of my garage.
- 2:17Speaker 4: My protocol normally is I would like bring him into
- 2:20Speaker 4: the garage, quickly skin him, bag them, throw him in
- 2:23Speaker 4: the freezer because they'll the freezer will kill the fleets,
- 2:26Speaker 4: and then pull them out and flash them, stretch him.
- 2:29Speaker 4: So my kid distracts me. I'm in the garage working
- 2:33Speaker 4: and my kid pokes his nose in the garage and says, hey, dad, whatever,
- 2:36Speaker 4: And I looked up and cut myself good and got
- 2:41Speaker 4: ten stitches across back my thumb.
- 2:42Speaker 2: It's actually your kid's fault.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, distracted me. I keep, you know, trying to
- 2:49Speaker 4: tell him that too much. But honestly, I don't even
- 2:52Speaker 4: know how. I don't know how I did it. I'm
- 2:54Speaker 4: joking about his being in his fault. He said something,
- 2:56Speaker 4: and I'm like talking to him and not paying attention.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Cut my hand.
- 2:59Speaker 4: So here, I leave a half skinned coyote hanging there
- 3:03Speaker 4: all day. When I'm skinning, I like to put my
- 3:07Speaker 4: I put a one piece it's like a knockoff Carhart
- 3:10Speaker 4: one piece, like a walls zip up, one piece. It's
- 3:15Speaker 4: got it's got cuffs on it, cover all cover all
- 3:18Speaker 4: latex gloves, right, so.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Yeah, do it.
- 3:22Speaker 4: I'll throw I'll hang it up outside whatever you know,
- 3:26Speaker 4: and I try to do some management management, flea management.
- 3:30Speaker 4: I wasn't when this happened. I was being quick about it.
- 3:32Speaker 4: And then I hung there all day because my wife
- 3:35Speaker 4: had to take me to the emergency room to get
- 3:37Speaker 4: stitched up. So when I get home, then I get
- 3:40Speaker 4: my neighbor to help me because I can't pull on anything.
- 3:44Speaker 4: So then that night I'm laying there in this department.
- 3:49Speaker 4: My wife doesn't know, listening to the show. She doesn't
- 3:55Speaker 4: know this.
- 3:56Speaker 1: This is the funny part.
- 3:57Speaker 4: So I'm laying there that night and I'm you know,
- 4:00Speaker 4: I'm hurting, and I'm laying there and i can feel
- 4:04Speaker 4: those sons of bitches like up in my hair. And
- 4:08Speaker 4: I'm not like a big shower guy, you know, I'm
- 4:10Speaker 4: not always running around taking showers for no reason, you know.
- 4:13Speaker 4: But I'm laying there and in bed next to my
- 4:16Speaker 4: beautiful wife, and I'm like, yeah.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna take a shower.
- 4:22Speaker 4: So, you know, like no one gets in bed right, Like,
- 4:25Speaker 4: no one gets in bed and lays there a while
- 4:28Speaker 4: and then like it's gonna go take a shower.
- 4:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And when you say it doesn't even like click with it.
- 4:33Speaker 4: She doesn't even think to be like a whine the world.
- 4:35Speaker 4: She's probably like, oh, he got hurt whatever.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:39Speaker 4: So I put my hand in a sandwich bag, you know,
- 4:41Speaker 4: my cut and the sandwich bag, and I'm in there
- 4:43Speaker 4: washing up.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I never mentioned it. Well, I'm aware that I'm like
- 4:48Speaker 1: getting I'm worried.
- 4:49Speaker 4: I got a lot of flea bites. But I'm thinking
- 4:51Speaker 4: it's just on me, you know. So what we're laughing
- 4:53Speaker 4: about getting this, so I get, I get these all
- 4:58Speaker 4: time stuff of this nature. She sends me a tax
- 5:04Speaker 4: I wish I could find one from when we were
- 5:06Speaker 4: messing with these skunks.
- 5:07Speaker 1: It was like the same basic tax.
- 5:09Speaker 2: And how many days or hours later was this text?
- 5:12Speaker 1: Since several days?
- 5:13Speaker 2: Several days since you were laying in bed with fleas?
- 5:16Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know what it want to be in
- 5:18Speaker 4: like it kind of blew over, she says, escaped. She says,
- 5:21Speaker 4: I am at tennis and can't figure on why my
- 5:23Speaker 4: ankles are so itchy.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I have small itchy bumps on both ankles.
- 5:28Speaker 4: If you brought fleas into our house because of the
- 5:31Speaker 4: things you trapped, you need to figure that out, Like
- 5:35Speaker 4: before work, I am not going to live like this.
- 5:42Speaker 2: That's a good threat.
- 5:44Speaker 1: But you know, as the guys are pointing out, like
- 5:47Speaker 1: how many years have you been married?
- 5:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd be like, yeah you are. I thought I
- 5:55Speaker 4: was in bad shape. I thought it was gonna be
- 5:57Speaker 4: in a lot of trouble. And we had this happened before,
- 5:59Speaker 4: and she had already forgot about that. So I'm like
- 6:01Speaker 4: referencing the last time this happened. If you remember, just
- 6:04Speaker 4: I said it's like some mosquitoes get in your house,
- 6:07Speaker 4: you get bit but it's not like it's not that
- 6:10Speaker 4: way for the rest of your life. It's just for
- 6:12Speaker 4: like whatever period of time they're in the house. So
- 6:15Speaker 4: I'm like, they're here like last time, she said, what
- 6:17Speaker 4: do you mean last time? I'm like, the last time
- 6:18Speaker 4: you freaked out about the flea bites?
- 6:22Speaker 7: Is a flea infestation? Is that like not a thing
- 6:26Speaker 7: like when you get like when you have bedbugs, right, Like,
- 6:29Speaker 7: you get them and then they get in your program
- 6:30Speaker 7: and like all of a sudden you have to make
- 6:32Speaker 7: big changes, right.
- 6:34Speaker 4: I have never found when you hunting cottontails. Yeah, when
- 6:38Speaker 4: you're hunting cottontails, you can't go hunting cottontails without getting
- 6:43Speaker 4: your wrist bit up. But you don't then have them
- 6:47Speaker 4: in your house. That's what I was telling her, because
- 6:49Speaker 4: she like right away starts doing internet research, you know
- 6:53Speaker 4: about all their.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Like magical capabilities. Like, dude, it's not like that, and
- 6:57Speaker 1: it's already over.
- 6:58Speaker 8: Can I tell you something that's you're not gonna like
- 7:01Speaker 8: to You're not gonna want to hear. Sure, my old
- 7:03Speaker 8: man who's been in the pest control industry for a
- 7:05Speaker 8: long time, has seen some infestation.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Fleas in people's houses, but the.
- 7:16Speaker 8: Like carpets crawling with really I don't tell her that,
- 7:20Speaker 8: but especially when you got.
- 7:21Speaker 3: A dog, they can breathe.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yeah, we got the thing.
- 7:24Speaker 3: It's always in houses that have a lot of animals.
- 7:27Speaker 4: The last time I got busted, I left a kyle
- 7:30Speaker 4: on the floor of the garage and had to run
- 7:32Speaker 4: off to work. So our dogs out there like associating
- 7:35Speaker 4: with it. Yeah, and the text message then the first
- 7:39Speaker 4: text message is what's wrong with our dog? And I
- 7:44Speaker 4: play it dumb like he could be anything, And then
- 7:47Speaker 4: she starts putting together you know, there's gotta be a
- 7:50Speaker 4: court like if there's a kyle in the garage and
- 7:55Speaker 4: they're always full of fleas, as you like to point out,
- 7:58Speaker 4: and our dog now has fleas, don't don't act like
- 8:03Speaker 4: you don't know what's going on.
- 8:05Speaker 2: What's the current status of the flea situation? They're gone.
- 8:08Speaker 1: She changed the betting out, All right, do.
- 8:10Speaker 3: You give the dog some flea and tick every once
- 8:12Speaker 3: in a while.
- 8:13Speaker 1: She takes care of all that. I'm assuming she does.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Probably very responsible dog owner, miraculous.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Yeah, good, sure, there's no way our dog doesn't have
- 8:22Speaker 4: that because it has things that doesn't need.
- 8:25Speaker 1: It has everything it needs.
- 8:27Speaker 8: See, our Kelsey doesn't give up. We don't give our
- 8:29Speaker 8: dog flea and tick unless we have to.
- 8:31Speaker 3: So when i'm.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Maybe, don't you just bathe them to get them off?
- 8:35Speaker 3: Well?
- 8:37Speaker 1: Yeah, but I don't know what they do.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Don't know, so I'm always worried about giving that dog fleas.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Seth declared that we should see Steve's pick up. It's
- 8:45Speaker 2: so flea infested. That's still the case.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Yeah, sure, I'm already playing on pressure washing. My neighbor
- 8:55Speaker 4: gave me a real heavy woolfelt carpet pad that I
- 9:00Speaker 4: like to have back there.
- 9:01Speaker 1: But I'm gonna pressure wash that mother liquor?
- 9:04Speaker 3: Is your name? Is your neighbor?
- 9:06Speaker 7: Feeling better about our little situation that we had, Oh yeah,
- 9:09Speaker 7: I haven't talked.
- 9:09Speaker 6: To me about.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he got a little mad at me.
- 9:12Speaker 2: All right, another for another episode.
- 9:16Speaker 1: The we still haven't told him what you told me,
- 9:20Speaker 1: so he's still mad. Yes, you're still mad at.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Let's recap last year's tournament, which was also a three
- 9:27Speaker 2: episode series. Randal one with twenty six points, followed by
- 9:31Speaker 2: Steve with twenty four and Brody with twenty two Randall
- 9:35Speaker 2: had a wire to wire victory leading after episode one
- 9:38Speaker 2: and two before winning the whole thing in episode three.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Let's get some predictions. Who do you think will be
- 9:43Speaker 2: this year's champion? We asked Doug Duran on last year's episode.
- 9:46Speaker 2: He thinks it's going to be Brody or Randall this year.
- 9:50Speaker 1: It's stupid, doesn't think me.
- 9:51Speaker 2: He said, you'll you'll probably argue your way into uh,
- 9:55Speaker 2: you know, a top finisher. But he doesn't think if
- 9:58Speaker 2: you have to come by it on your on a
- 10:00Speaker 2: cord with just providing correct answers, that you can do it.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Dogs.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Oh, Doug, bubbly, Doug being so bubbly there, Corey. Who
- 10:11Speaker 2: do you think is gonna win this year?
- 10:12Speaker 4: Oh?
- 10:13Speaker 1: I'd have to put my money on Brody.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Brody? Okay, Brody.
- 10:18Speaker 9: Trying to get.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Do you have it in you? Are you gonna win
- 10:24Speaker 2: it this year?
- 10:25Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. To wait till the game's over.
- 10:27Speaker 2: All right, Brody. Brody's been on a heater as of late,
- 10:32Speaker 2: really crushing Randall whenever the two of them are in
- 10:34Speaker 2: the room at the same time. Brody's not gonna carry over.
- 10:38Speaker 5: I'm keeping my mouth shut.
- 10:39Speaker 7: Spencer, you know, the questions. I know the questions, and
- 10:42Speaker 7: so I think that you have a pretty good idea
- 10:45Speaker 7: about how I will.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Fare these These questions are more core to meat eater.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Then sometimes I get like go to the edge of
- 10:53Speaker 2: our universe to make a topic work.
- 10:56Speaker 1: You know you think?
- 10:57Speaker 2: I think for these thirty questions, you just gotta be
- 11:00Speaker 2: like a pure knowledgeable outdoorsman to win. So that's what
- 11:04Speaker 2: it's going to take, Seth. That means you could win it, all, right.
- 11:08Speaker 7: Can I?
- 11:11Speaker 5: I used to say because Jana skied a bunch, he
- 11:14Speaker 5: wasn't a true outdoorsman. Now a true outdoors because he
- 11:17Speaker 5: spends all winter Jason lyons and there's no snow.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I'm still doing it.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Thanks the global climate change is a true.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Outdoors Randall Yanni. Any predictions this year's tournament thirty questions?
- 11:33Speaker 6: I know, I know the desired outcome.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Did you'd win? Yes?
- 11:37Speaker 3: I think is going to be a top contender this year.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Where's the winner yet? Uh?
- 11:42Speaker 2: Well, the winner will get to make just like last year,
- 11:44Speaker 2: we're banking all the money to the end. It's going
- 11:46Speaker 2: to be a two thousand dollars donation. Episode three, But
- 11:50Speaker 2: that could be influenced if somebody throws a perfect game.
- 11:52Speaker 2: For example, if we have someone who hits it right
- 11:55Speaker 2: on the nose, if we do go to over time,
- 11:56Speaker 2: which has not happened in the Meat Eater Trivia Tournament history.
- 12:00Speaker 2: So two thousand dollars, it's a donation. Plus we have
- 12:03Speaker 2: the plaque that will get their name on it.
- 12:08Speaker 1: What do you got? They because I cut it skin
- 12:12Speaker 1: and something.
- 12:12Speaker 4: They put me on antibiotic for tu larimia.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Okay, And I'm and I'm sitting there.
- 12:18Speaker 4: And I'm kind of trying to argue with them, you know,
- 12:21Speaker 4: I'm like, come on, Katie, who's already annoyed.
- 12:25Speaker 1: She's like, are you, like by what position do you
- 12:28Speaker 1: think you're in? You're like debating.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I'm surprised that's the one they would go for.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Why No, That's what I was kind of fever. That
- 12:35Speaker 1: was kind of one.
- 12:36Speaker 4: That was my argument. I was kind of like, why
- 12:38Speaker 4: that like rabbit? I said, you ever heard of rabbit fever?
- 12:41Speaker 1: She's like no, I'm like, what.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Either of the doctors all right, like last year? And
- 12:49Speaker 2: I said, it's a two thousand dollars donation. They'll be
- 12:52Speaker 2: banked until the end. I had all these questions fact
- 12:55Speaker 2: checked by Maggie Hullo, our director of web content. So
- 12:58Speaker 2: I'm confident that Steve won't do and he arguing today.
- 13:01Speaker 3: It wouldn't be a.
- 13:04Speaker 1: It wouldn't be like a factual issue, would be like.
- 13:06Speaker 2: A wording is sure? Well? Maggie was also okay with
- 13:10Speaker 2: these all right? The Shelby Index for this episode is
- 13:13Speaker 2: a five, so I'm putting us on perfect score alert
- 13:15Speaker 2: and with that we're onto the game of trivia played
- 13:18Speaker 2: the drop fill. Look, I need to know what I
- 13:23Speaker 2: stand to win everything?
- 13:26Speaker 1: How's that you just tend to win everything?
- 13:36Speaker 3: Sounds nervous?
- 13:38Speaker 1: Look renal, thank you.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Question one, the topic is fishing, and this is multiple choice.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Which of these rivers is longest? Is a Rio Grand
- 13:50Speaker 2: Ohio River, Columbia River or Tennessee River? Which is longest?
- 13:58Speaker 2: Rio Grand Ohio, Colombia, Tennessee? Nobody has wrote down And and.
- 14:05Speaker 7: You just gotta be a regular old, good outdoorsman and
- 14:09Speaker 7: have a really good geography.
- 14:10Speaker 1: That's right.
- 14:11Speaker 2: I think they go hand in hand. Which of these
- 14:13Speaker 2: rivers is longest? Rio Grand Ohio, Columbia, Tennessee? Still have
- 14:19Speaker 2: six blank whiteboards in the room. Randall and Steve coming
- 14:25Speaker 2: up with their answers. Steve writing in a manner that
- 14:28Speaker 2: ensures nobody can cheat off him, which is longest Rio Grand,
- 14:33Speaker 2: Ohio River, Columbia River, Tennessee River. Nobody knew this right
- 14:40Speaker 2: off the bat. Six educated guesses.
- 14:43Speaker 9: In the room.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I think we're waiting on Brody.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Oh I got something written down.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Everybody ready, Corey, go ahead, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Set and Yiannis say Rio Grand randall Colombia. Corey crossed out,
- 14:59Speaker 2: Rio Grand said Colombia. Steve says Colombia. Brody Rio Grand.
- 15:05Speaker 2: The room is split. The correct answer is the Rio
- 15:09Speaker 2: Grand right off the bat or loose off the bat.
- 15:15Speaker 2: At eighteen hundred miles, the Rio Grand is the fourth
- 15:18Speaker 2: longest river in America. The Colombia is seventh at twelve
- 15:23Speaker 2: hundred miles, the Ohio is tenth at one thousand miles,
- 15:26Speaker 2: and the Tennessee is twelfth at nine hundred miles. So
- 15:29Speaker 2: the Rio Grand trumps the Columbia by six hundred miles.
- 15:33Speaker 3: It says it, Yeah, we do.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Question two. The topic is biology. This four letter word
- 15:44Speaker 2: is defined as quote. An insect in the stage of
- 15:48Speaker 2: development after it has been a larvae and before it
- 15:51Speaker 2: becomes an adult.
- 15:53Speaker 7: Ooh, good fly fisherman.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Question here four letter word is defined as an insect
- 15:59Speaker 2: in the stage of development, after it has been a
- 16:02Speaker 2: larva and before it becomes an adult. Steve and Brody
- 16:07Speaker 2: and Randall and Jannis now have their answers. You boys
- 16:11Speaker 2: have this one, right. I hope so got a four
- 16:13Speaker 2: letter word that makes sense, So it's gonna write beugg
- 16:21Speaker 2: four letter words an insect in the stage of development,
- 16:26Speaker 2: after it's been a larva and before it becomes in it.
- 16:29Speaker 9: I don't remember the last game of Trivia Steve was
- 16:31Speaker 9: on where he didn't just make fun of Seth, but
- 16:33Speaker 9: for most of the episode completely.
- 16:38Speaker 2: You could just write that down. Seth Corey, Do you
- 16:41Speaker 2: have an answer?
- 16:42Speaker 6: Man?
- 16:42Speaker 3: I do.
- 16:42Speaker 6: I'm gonna be really embarrassed I get it wrong.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:47Speaker 7: As a as a X fly fishing guide, I like questions.
- 16:50Speaker 2: That would be like in a sixth grade biology class,
- 16:53Speaker 2: and I feel like this is one of them.
- 16:55Speaker 3: M hm oh yeah. My daughter is a freshman now,
- 16:58Speaker 3: the oldest one.
- 17:00Speaker 7: She's already talking and learning and studying about stuff. And
- 17:03Speaker 7: I'm like, yeah, I wasn't paying attention back then when
- 17:06Speaker 7: they taught it to me and I didn't.
- 17:07Speaker 3: I didn't retain it.
- 17:09Speaker 7: And I'm telling her, I'm like, you're already becoming smarter
- 17:12Speaker 7: than your old man.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Now you get a second chance. You can just absorb
- 17:15Speaker 2: some of that.
- 17:15Speaker 3: You're right, I could.
- 17:16Speaker 7: I could apply myself like that. She studies a lot
- 17:19Speaker 7: harder than I do.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Seth, are you ready?
- 17:24Speaker 3: I think I don't.

- 19:26Speaker 2: the correct answer. The correct answer is c R two,
- 19:34Speaker 2: So Yannis and Corey.
- 19:36Speaker 4: C R one two three, because you're talking about this,
- 19:38Speaker 4: because some range finders run on the c R one
- 19:40Speaker 4: two three, and some run on that little smaller one.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Most commonly used battery range finders.
- 19:45Speaker 3: CA there's a picture. C R one two three is

- 20:15Speaker 4: The actually think about. I don't think I've seen a
- 20:18Speaker 4: range finder with the c R one twenty three and.
- 20:20Speaker 2: The C stands for lithium chemistry, the R stands for round,
- 20:24Speaker 2: which is its shape, and the two is the number
- 20:27Speaker 2: it is in the manufacturer series. C R two batteries
- 20:30Speaker 2: look like smaller version of D batteries. Their most common
- 20:34Speaker 2: uses are digital cameras, flashlights, and range finders, as well

- 20:43Speaker 2: is a c R two. Question for the topic is
- 20:47Speaker 2: public lands. Aaron Ralston cut off his right arm in
- 20:51Speaker 2: two thousand and three while trapped in Blue John Canyon
- 20:55Speaker 2: in this state. We're looking for the name of the state.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Dang Ralston cut off his right arm in two thousand

- 21:14Speaker 7: minute and his son had to do a report in school,
- 21:18Speaker 7: and one of his examples or his subjects was Aaron Rawson,
- 21:22Speaker 7: and we talked about what the state that he cut
- 21:28Speaker 7: his arm off was not mentioned?
- 21:32Speaker 2: Brody, did you need your son having that subject come up?
- 21:36Speaker 2: You just knew this without that. No, Steve, you have
- 21:40Speaker 2: this one right. Aaron Ralston cut off his right one
- 21:48Speaker 2: tramped in blue.
- 21:49Speaker 5: John Kinny, you should have been there for that discussion
- 21:52Speaker 5: last night because it was about when you go on
- 21:54Speaker 5: adventures and you have to overcome risks and adversity.
- 21:58Speaker 2: And other examples. Get and besides Aaron Rawston did.
- 22:02Speaker 5: He he had to do like eight or ten different ones.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Wow, everybody read go ahead, seth says Arizona. Giannis and
- 22:17Speaker 2: Randall and Corey and Steve and Brody say, Utah, they
- 22:22Speaker 2: got it. The correct answer is Utah splitting in half.
- 22:27Speaker 2: The accident happened on the border of Canyon Lands National
- 22:30Speaker 2: Park in southeast Utah. Ralston was solo canyoneering when an
- 22:34Speaker 2: eight hundred pound bowlder was dislodged and crushed his right
- 22:37Speaker 2: hand against the canyon wall. After five days of being trapped,
- 22:40Speaker 2: he noticed his arm was starting to decompose due to
- 22:43Speaker 2: a lack of circulation, and that's when he decided he
- 22:45Speaker 2: needed to cut it off. So he broke his arm
- 22:48Speaker 2: and then used a multi tool knife and players to
- 22:50Speaker 2: cut his skin and tendons. He then hiked six miles
- 22:53Speaker 2: before encountering a family from the Netherlands who called for help.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Phil has a picture that he's going to show us.
- 22:59Speaker 2: This picture taken after the accident. You're about to see
- 23:02Speaker 2: Aaron's blood that was left on the canyon ball in border.
- 23:06Speaker 2: This is your last chance to look away if you
- 23:08Speaker 2: don't want to see it. All right, Phil, Let's see
- 23:10Speaker 2: that picture. Damn that that was taken by a crew
- 23:15Speaker 2: of thirteen federal employees who went there to move the boulder.
- 23:18Speaker 2: So that's his arm in there.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Yep.
- 23:21Speaker 2: So they had to move the boulder. It took thirteen people,
- 23:25Speaker 2: a hydraulic jack, a winch, and you can still see
- 23:29Speaker 2: the blood there. After this picture was taken, they said
- 23:31Speaker 2: you can see the blood in the canyon for years afterwards.
- 23:34Speaker 10: His memoirs, isn't it between a rock and a hard Place?

- 23:38Speaker 2: And then he had the movie Franco.
- 23:42Speaker 6: Yes, great airplane Fair.
- 23:45Speaker 2: That's a good endorsement.
- 23:46Speaker 7: What was Brody gave me a little tid but that
- 23:49Speaker 7: he didn't mention and the reason it took so long
- 23:52Speaker 7: for anyone who notice that he was gone or to
- 23:54Speaker 7: find where he was even at, because where he was
- 23:57Speaker 7: well in the day before he went there, he had
- 24:00Speaker 7: climbed Mount Soapers in Colorado and literally walked off the mountain,
- 24:04Speaker 7: which is a pretty big fee like it's not like
- 24:06Speaker 7: just a little hike. Did that, and then literally jumped
- 24:09Speaker 7: in his car and drove to the to the desert
- 24:12Speaker 7: without saying nothing.
- 24:14Speaker 2: He didn't tell folks. Yeah, where he was going to be.
- 24:16Speaker 7: So mean, you might have said it. I just wasn't
- 24:19Speaker 7: paying attention. But he was just in there and all
- 24:21Speaker 7: of a sudden his bowler just comes crashing down. He's
- 24:23Speaker 7: in the wrong place.
- 24:24Speaker 2: I saw that. It said he dislaunched it, but I
- 24:27Speaker 2: don't know what that means, what his involvement use it
- 24:30Speaker 2: as a handhold, I don't know. Question five. The topic
- 24:34Speaker 2: is conservation. The Stop Aquatic Blank campaign that targets anglers
- 24:41Speaker 2: and boaters was created by the Aquatic Nuisance Species Task

- 26:21Speaker 2: says invasives. Corey says spread. Steve and Brody say hitchhikers.
- 26:28Speaker 2: The correct answer is hitchhikers. Half of the room got
- 26:33Speaker 2: that one right. Stop a quatic Kitchhikers is responsible for
- 26:37Speaker 2: the aggressive signage around the watches and fishing areas that
- 26:41Speaker 2: tell you to clean, drain, and dry, and if you're

- 37:29Speaker 5: If you ever read that novel, there was a character
- 37:31Speaker 5: named the Beef though both know they call him the
- 37:34Speaker 5: beef in the movie.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Six letter word. A fish, especially a herring, that has
- 37:40Speaker 2: been cured by splitting something, drying and smoking.
- 37:43Speaker 7: Everybody ready, dude, I don't have anything.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Yeah, and he can't find it.
- 37:49Speaker 1: You need to put like a credit, like a thanks to.
- 37:52Speaker 3: I will I owe it all to Steve.
- 37:56Speaker 2: I'm like sixty honesty, you give it up. Go ahead
- 38:02Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. Seth without an answer, Jannis without
- 38:06Speaker 2: an answer, Randall says. Kipper Cordy says, pickle. Steve and
- 38:11Speaker 2: Brody say kipper they got it. The correct answer is
- 38:14Speaker 2: kipper k I P P e R.
- 38:16Speaker 1: That's also a.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Well you would give it to him? Yeah, I would
- 38:28Speaker 2: cast some drama. I'm certain kippers are traditionally served as
- 38:32Speaker 2: a breakfast item in the UK, but are more popular
- 38:35Speaker 2: as a canned snack in the United States. This word
- 38:38Speaker 2: can be used as a verb kippering, which just means
- 38:41Speaker 2: that you salt something an air dry it. The U
- 38:44Speaker 2: s d A even provides a definition for kippered beef,
- 38:47Speaker 2: which they say is a less dry version of beef jerky.
- 38:51Speaker 10: Yeah, that's what had me confused, was I was thinking
- 38:54Speaker 10: about the verb.
- 38:58Speaker 4: He talks about a guy trying to have a plan
- 39:00Speaker 4: and uh, kill cattle and inject the cattle's vascular system
- 39:07Speaker 4: with Brian. I don't thinking he could figure out how
- 39:10Speaker 4: to preserve whole cattle.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Didn't work.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Kipper it. Phil gives a scoreboard.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Drop too, man, I'm creeping up. I'm tiptoeing up on
- 39:22Speaker 1: old Cory.
- 39:23Speaker 9: Is holding on the last place with three points. Seth
- 39:26Speaker 9: and Randall are up next with four points apiece. We're
- 39:29Speaker 9: tiptoeing on old Steve and come Stephen Brody with five
- 39:32Speaker 9: and You're honest doesn't have the perfect game anymore, but
- 39:35Speaker 9: he's still in first place with six new.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Questions last night question Anybody's game?
- 39:40Speaker 2: Question the top is conservation winners?
- 39:44Speaker 1: Did you cover this? Just one big win?
- 39:48Speaker 3: At you know?
- 39:48Speaker 2: We would count like say Seth wins this episode that
- 39:52Speaker 2: he gets a win in the in the tally book.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Does so?
- 39:56Speaker 2: There is I thought you meant like a you know,
- 39:59Speaker 2: third fourth place? No question nine. The topic is conservation.
- 40:02Speaker 2: This two thousand mile pipeline, which shares its name with
- 40:06Speaker 2: a beer, carries oil from Alberta to Texas. Oh, Brody
- 40:14Speaker 2: and Randall and Seth and Corey have their answers. Steve
- 40:18Speaker 2: and Jannis do not give me a second. This two
- 40:21Speaker 2: thousand mile pipeline, which shares its name with a beer,
- 40:25Speaker 2: carries oil from Alberta to Texas. Steve, do you like
- 40:29Speaker 2: your answer?
- 40:29Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 40:30Speaker 2: Okay, Yanni, you like your answer?
- 40:34Speaker 7: I got I don't answer. I'm gonna stick with it.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Something go six or six here?
- 40:39Speaker 6: I think the beer clues.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Two thousand miles, which shares its name with a beer,
- 40:46Speaker 2: carries oil from Alberta to Texas. Go ahead and reveal
- 40:51Speaker 2: your answers. Seth says Keystone, Yanni says Canadian Rand Steve
- 41:01Speaker 2: Brody Keystone. The correct answer is the Keystone Pipeline. The
- 41:05Speaker 2: Keystone Pipeline was commissioned by Trans Canada in twenty ten,
- 41:10Speaker 2: with the third phase being completed in twenty sixteen. It
- 41:13Speaker 2: carries about six hundred thousand barrels across eight states and
- 41:16Speaker 2: three provinces each day. A fourth phase of the pipeline,
- 41:20Speaker 2: called the Keystone Xcel, was paused by Obama in twenty fifteen,
- 41:24Speaker 2: then resurrected by Trump in twenty sixteen, and then paused
- 41:26Speaker 2: by Biden in twenty twenty one. Trump said in twenty
- 41:29Speaker 2: twenty five that he'd like to revive the Keystone Xcel,
- 41:32Speaker 2: but the company in charge of it has reportedly moved
- 41:35Speaker 2: on from the idea. Phil has a picture of it there,
- 41:38Speaker 2: showing us its current route if the Excel were to
- 41:41Speaker 2: be completed someday, which their website doesn't even exist for
- 41:44Speaker 2: it anymore. So I think that is a sign that
- 41:47Speaker 2: would be the green pipeline that you see there. Everything
- 41:51Speaker 2: else is already done, all right, Phil, give us another
- 41:55Speaker 2: scoreboard updates before we do question ten and wrap up Episode.
- 41:58Speaker 9: One Yanni slip of there made the game more interesting,
- 42:02Speaker 9: very interesting, because everyone got a point except for your honest.
- 42:07Speaker 9: So now we've got Corey with four, Seth and Randall
- 42:10Speaker 9: with five, and all tied up with six points apiece
- 42:13Speaker 9: are Yannie, Steve, and Brody.
- 42:14Speaker 1: There's no need for like a tie breaker.
- 42:16Speaker 2: We will do if it comes down to a tie breaker.
- 42:18Speaker 2: After episode three, there's going to be three tie breakers
- 42:21Speaker 2: to see Wow, at the end of this there's no
- 42:23Speaker 2: need no tie breaker. At the end of episode one
- 42:26Speaker 2: or two.
- 42:26Speaker 1: You don't give out any prize money.
- 42:27Speaker 10: Now do you have two questions? Do you have all
- 42:29Speaker 10: the other questions selected already?
- 42:31Speaker 2: I have twenty four of the thirty written.
- 42:36Speaker 3: It can get a look.
- 42:36Speaker 6: I don't need to ask.
- 42:37Speaker 10: The second question is does anybody have to go anywhere
- 42:41Speaker 10: after this so we could just play straight through that week?
- 42:43Speaker 2: Episode two is tomorrow You're gonna have to go home
- 42:47Speaker 2: wash off the fleas, and I.
- 42:48Speaker 4: Never thought of that. You can still just do it
- 42:53Speaker 4: all one shebang and then break.
- 42:56Speaker 1: It up to get your show. You just don't want
- 42:58Speaker 1: to do it that way.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Well, someone's schedule in this room didn't allow for that,
- 43:01Speaker 2: so I can get tired here's the black answer reviews
- 43:05Speaker 2: so far. One was the Rio Grand two PUPA three
- 43:10Speaker 2: c R two Battery four Utah where Aaron Ralston cut
- 43:15Speaker 2: off his arm. Five is stop Aquadic Kitchhikers. Six tonight
- 43:18Speaker 2: As seven Acme Tackle Company, eight Kipper nine Keystone Pipeline.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Here's question ten and this last great question is via
- 43:27Speaker 2: Cole Wagner. A blank cord is a single row of
- 43:32Speaker 2: firewood that's four feet high and eight feet wide, making
- 43:36Speaker 2: it about one third the size of a full cord.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Oh, Steve has told us.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Subject A blank cord is a single row of fire
- 43:48Speaker 2: road that's four feet high and eight feet wide, making
- 43:52Speaker 2: it about one third the size of a full chord.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Steve knows it, Seth. Do you have this one right?
- 43:59Speaker 4: I think so, Dude. I'm like that tourist dude. Yeah,
- 44:02Speaker 4: and he's like that hair man. Do you know what
- 44:07Speaker 4: I'm saying?
- 44:09Speaker 2: What do you say?
- 44:10Speaker 3: Maybe? Maybe won't sign that like another episode a third game.
- 44:17Speaker 6: I know you've said this to me.
- 44:20Speaker 3: I always guess one.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Of the main things I talk about. Yeah, I know a.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Pillar of Steve's conversations.
- 44:27Speaker 10: If I were running to a party answer, if I
- 44:31Speaker 10: would have looked at this question, thought Steve will know this.
- 44:35Speaker 4: Yeah, Like if that party making small talk, this is
- 44:38Speaker 4: something I would be like, you know, course.
- 44:44Speaker 7: I was going to butter him up a little bit.
- 44:47Speaker 7: Put this question in the tournament.
- 44:50Speaker 2: A single row of firewood that's four feet high in
- 44:54Speaker 2: eight wide, making it about once.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Took a look to see what he wrote.
- 44:59Speaker 2: The full.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Oh you two, you don't you do know? You said?
- 45:06Speaker 1: Wood man, he's got it. He's got a major. He's
- 45:08Speaker 1: major in Forestreet.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:10Speaker 5: Yeahs have been chopping wood all, cutting wood.
- 45:13Speaker 3: All and I've been hanging out with for a dozen years.
- 45:18Speaker 4: He could jump all the wood in the world and
- 45:19Speaker 4: never have reason to talk about this. He probably just
- 45:22Speaker 4: looks at the pile and he's like, that looks about right. Yeah,
- 45:25Speaker 4: it looks like about the pile ahead last year.
- 45:29Speaker 2: A blank cord is a single row of firewood that's
- 45:32Speaker 2: four feet high and eight feet wide, making it about
- 45:34Speaker 2: one third the size of a full cord.
- 45:38Speaker 7: If you fill up an eight foot bed standard pickup
- 45:41Speaker 7: truck with rounds not split yet, you reckon.
- 45:45Speaker 3: You got over a.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Cord full full?
- 45:49Speaker 4: Yeah, because I used well, yeah, so if you put
- 45:53Speaker 4: what's funny is you know when you lowered full rounds,
- 45:57Speaker 4: it looks like you have more air gaps with the
- 46:00Speaker 4: They're so densely packed that when you split it and
- 46:02Speaker 4: go to pack it in.
- 46:06Speaker 2: What's that it evens out?
- 46:07Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 46:07Speaker 1: Like it looks like any efficient. But it's efficient to
- 46:10Speaker 1: put rounds in there. But it's it's heavy. But you
- 46:12Speaker 1: can carry a full cord the truck.
- 46:14Speaker 3: Oh yeah, he ragged my three quarters.
- 46:16Speaker 1: You have to have you have.
- 46:17Speaker 4: To have racks on the side to come up to
- 46:20Speaker 4: about the height of the cab.
- 46:22Speaker 3: Oh to get a cord?
- 46:23Speaker 2: Oh really, well four feet high? Is everybody ready?
- 46:27Speaker 4: I remember cord oak was Buddy min had it weighed
- 46:30Speaker 4: on a scale one time, a qrd of oaks like
- 46:32Speaker 4: five thousand pounds or something like that.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Where you give up?
- 46:36Speaker 1: I got an answer, you know, I'll tell you this
- 46:38Speaker 1: to man. Can I tell these guys a little tidbit?
- 46:41Speaker 3: Yes, let's get the answer.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Set says face. I
- 46:48Speaker 2: got it wrong, right, I've heard third, Steve says face.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Brody says half. The correct answer is face.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Or a rick rick, but no, not spelled like that.
- 47:01Speaker 1: You don't say a rick chord.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Spelling it's a rick of wood? Is our I c
- 47:06Speaker 2: not a record? We're gonna you wouldn't say a riccord.
- 47:11Speaker 2: A rick of wood is the same measurement as a
- 47:14Speaker 2: blank cord.
- 47:16Speaker 1: A rick chord is not a thing.
- 47:19Speaker 2: If I google rick chord, I bet I see that.
- 47:23Speaker 10: Google rid in quotation marks quotation marks.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Isn't that also the action of stacking wood? I I
- 47:31Speaker 2: think we're going to give it to you, you cannot
- 47:33Speaker 2: give it to.
- 47:34Speaker 4: It's measurement if it said a blank and it's not
- 47:39Speaker 4: a row a rick you sell independently.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Here on the spruce. They call it a face cord
- 47:46Speaker 2: or rick chord. So there's someone uh timber wolf l
- 47:50Speaker 2: processing equipment call it a rick cord. They call it
- 47:53Speaker 2: a rick cord.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Well they're wrong.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Let me about the labor text rickord. A full chord
- 47:59Speaker 2: is also four feet high. Man, has anybody ever said
- 48:03Speaker 2: you a rickcord?
- 48:06Speaker 3: We never used either. We never used rick.
- 48:10Speaker 2: A full cord is also four feet high and eight
- 48:12Speaker 2: feet wide, but is four feet deep, which usually means
- 48:15Speaker 2: it has three rows of wood. A face cord is
- 48:18Speaker 2: the same measurement, but with a single row instead of three.
- 48:21Speaker 2: A face cord is also known as a rick of wood.
- 48:24Speaker 2: There is a Sheldon record which is bigger than a
- 48:27Speaker 2: full cord, a stove cord, which is a face cord
- 48:30Speaker 2: with shorter logs, and a running cord, which is a
- 48:34Speaker 2: long stack of wood that hasn't yet been sorted. So
- 48:37Speaker 2: we're gonna give it to Yanni for the riccord. Stupid
- 48:41Speaker 2: because the Timberwolf firewood processing equipment agrees.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Why would not be the person that decides that was
- 48:50Speaker 1: in the firewood business man?
- 48:52Speaker 2: Huh woodchuckers firewood dot net they call it a riccord
- 48:56Speaker 2: as well, rir Wedgers firewood.
- 49:01Speaker 4: You bring in one serious woodman into this room and
- 49:06Speaker 4: have and you say to him, have you ever.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Undered the word rickcord in your life? Mm hmm, it's
- 49:12Speaker 1: not the same thing.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Bill, give us a scoreboard up, Dad.
- 49:14Speaker 2: We are one third of the way through our fourth
- 49:18Speaker 2: annual Meat Eater Trivia Champion.
- 49:20Speaker 3: It's a close game.
- 49:20Speaker 9: Corey's got four, Randa Williams is next with five. Seth
- 49:25Speaker 9: and Brody have six points apiece and tied for first place.
- 49:29Speaker 9: They once ran for the White House on the same ticket.
- 49:31Speaker 9: Now they find themselves at odds like Trump and pass it.
- 49:34Speaker 9: Ste You tell us Stephen Renell, Trump and Pits.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Danny's reading his book. He's got this book. It's like
- 49:44Speaker 1: about firewood.
- 49:48Speaker 4: From It's like a Norwegian book or something. It's like
- 49:50Speaker 4: the whole subject is firewood. Everything you could ever want
- 49:52Speaker 4: to know about firewood anyways in there something that it
- 49:54Speaker 4: realized when you, like you talk about bt us when
- 49:59Speaker 4: they do would B to use, it's would by volume.
- 50:04Speaker 4: So when you rank wood and it's B to use,
- 50:06Speaker 4: it would by volume. If you go wood, if it's
- 50:09Speaker 4: by weight, all wood is the same B to you.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Mm by weight?
- 50:15Speaker 2: Mhmm.
- 50:16Speaker 1: You follow me.
- 50:17Speaker 2: That makes sense, yes, because it's the same.
- 50:19Speaker 5: Chemistry because oak log would weigh twice as much as whatever.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Yeah, so by volume they vary. By weight they don't vary.
- 50:27Speaker 2: And I think osage oranges is like one of the
- 50:29Speaker 2: highest loco tow us black locus.
- 50:32Speaker 4: It would be like it's that means it's like it's
- 50:34Speaker 4: not there's something special about the cellulose. It's like, book
- 50:39Speaker 4: could be wrong. My dad always warmed me about books.
- 50:43Speaker 4: You'd say, that's just one man's opinion.
- 50:46Speaker 2: All right, Trump and Pence tied up going into episode two.
- 50:50Speaker 2: We'll see you back here. For the second tournament. Join
- 50:55Speaker 2: us next week for more Meeting or Trivia, the only
- 50:57Speaker 2: game show where conservation always wins.
- 50:59Speaker 3: Thank Spencer Horse.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Yes, Spencer from South Dakota. He's the host, using those smooth,
- 51:06Speaker 1: mellow tones. He lays them questions down, and.
- 51:15Speaker 6: He likes taking those two and three year old bucks.
- 51:19Speaker 1: And he's an avid amateur
- 51:22Speaker 6: Rockhouse
