- 0:05Speaker 1: Hi everyone, and welcome back to Cardinal Territoria.
- 0:07Speaker 2: I'm your host, Katie Wu and I have some exciting
- 0:10Speaker 2: news for you. At long last, the Saint Louis Cardinals
- 0:14Speaker 2: have spent some money. It's true, longtime listeners, we have
- 0:18Speaker 2: fantasized about this day for months and it's finally here.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Earlier today Thursday, the Cardinals signed right handed believer PHILM.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Mayton to a one year, two million dollar contract for
- 0:27Speaker 2: the twenty twenty five season. The DFA Bailey Horn as
- 0:30Speaker 2: the corresponding move. It is a major league deal and
- 0:33Speaker 2: the Cardinals expect that Mayton will slot in as the
- 0:35Speaker 2: right handed setup man alongside Brian Fernandez and behind closer
- 0:39Speaker 2: Brian Helsley. Mayton, for those of you who don't know,
- 0:42Speaker 2: a pretty effective believer. Last year, nine years in the show,
- 0:45Speaker 2: he has a three six to six ERA in a
- 0:48Speaker 2: combined seventy one games with the Mets and Rays last year,
- 0:50Speaker 2: career high eighteen holds, and he was unscored upon in
- 0:54Speaker 2: twenty five of his thirty one games pitched for the
- 0:56Speaker 2: Mets last year, recording a one nine to nine ERA
- 0:59Speaker 2: over his final to for his final forty two regular
- 1:03Speaker 2: season games.
- 1:04Speaker 1: So yeah, that'll play. Now. I know what you're thinking. One.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Did the Cardinals actually spend money for the first time
- 1:10Speaker 2: this offseason?
- 1:11Speaker 1: They did. They did spend money.
- 1:13Speaker 2: They were the last of thirty major league teams to
- 1:16Speaker 2: peruse the free agent market, but they did do so.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Like I said, this is a major league deal, so
- 1:21Speaker 2: we can all celebrate Accordingly, there was a while where
- 1:24Speaker 2: we did not think this would happen. The bigger question
- 1:28Speaker 2: just signing a veteran reliever take away playing time from
- 1:31Speaker 2: the young right handers we've seen this spring. We've talked
- 1:33Speaker 2: about the transition, the runway, the reset, all of our
- 1:37Speaker 2: favorite trigger words all spring long. The answer to that question,
- 1:41Speaker 2: yes and no. Obviously, someone's playing time is going to
- 1:43Speaker 2: be cut with Mayton taking a major league spot. That
- 1:46Speaker 2: person today was Gordon Grisefo, who was optioned to head
- 1:48Speaker 2: a Thursday's game to Memphis. He will be stretched out
- 1:51Speaker 2: as a starter, John Mozelach said, to help with rotation
- 1:54Speaker 2: depth in case there is a sudden injury. With the
- 1:56Speaker 2: current rotation group. This is especially important. Obviously, Michael Greevy,
- 2:00Speaker 2: Andre Polante, Stephen matt still in the mix for a
- 2:02Speaker 2: starting role, but with Zach Thompson and Drew Rohm currently
- 2:05Speaker 2: slap end with injuries. Having depth is important, so you'll
- 2:08Speaker 2: seecrece Efo getting stretched back out in Memphis. There is
- 2:12Speaker 2: also value in bringing in someone with veteran experience. It's
- 2:15Speaker 2: a trait Moe has always coveted in his bullpen, and
- 2:18Speaker 2: I thought Ollie Marmel did a nice job today of
- 2:20Speaker 2: explaining why this move works for what Saint Louis is
- 2:22Speaker 2: trying to do right now. While they're still trying to
- 2:25Speaker 2: extend playing time to these young guys, here's how adding
- 2:28Speaker 2: a veteran can actually help with that. Allie said, I
- 2:32Speaker 2: think adding a right handed arm and the pen made
- 2:34Speaker 2: sense for a lot of reasons. Yes, you want to
- 2:36Speaker 2: give opportunity to young guys, that's a big part of
- 2:39Speaker 2: what we're doing. But what you also don't want to
- 2:41Speaker 2: do is have someone at the big league level who
- 2:43Speaker 2: is not ready for it, because that could actually hinder
- 2:45Speaker 2: their development. You want to be smart about having enough
- 2:48Speaker 2: depth that you're developing guys at the levels that they
- 2:50Speaker 2: need to develop prior to calling them up. We've seen
- 2:53Speaker 2: this a lot with the Cardinals over the last couple
- 2:55Speaker 2: of years, where there's just kind of the rush to
- 2:58Speaker 2: the majors because they need someone to.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Win that day and it has impacted development.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Think about guys we just talked about Polante Gricepa himself,
- 3:05Speaker 2: Matthew Libertre. I mean, these are guys that have been
- 3:07Speaker 2: able to figure it out, but it's not easy.
- 3:10Speaker 1: So this is the.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Cardinals feel like bringing infilm Maeton will help with that,
- 3:14Speaker 2: and it certainly was something that Moe has been trying
- 3:16Speaker 2: to do all off season.
- 3:17Speaker 1: The timing was right now.
- 3:20Speaker 2: We talked to Pull Mayton very briefly today. We understand
- 3:23Speaker 2: that it's March thirteenth. Opening Day is exactly two weeks
- 3:26Speaker 2: away from today, so that's exciting, But there is that
- 3:28Speaker 2: question of does he have enough time to ramp up.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Mayton said, he's completely built up. He just needs to
- 3:33Speaker 1: see some hitters.
- 3:34Speaker 2: He'll throw a side on Friday, except for a LIVEVP
- 3:36Speaker 2: on Sunday, and he'll appear in some SIM games later
- 3:39Speaker 2: next week, both he and the Cardinals. Then he'll have
- 3:41Speaker 2: plenty of time to appear in some great frit League
- 3:44Speaker 2: games and be ready for opening Day.
- 3:45Speaker 1: So there you have it.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Cardinals Major League signing Welcome March thirteenth. What a time
- 3:49Speaker 2: to be alive. It's unpredictable this team. Speaking of unpredictable, though,
- 3:55Speaker 2: we have two very special guests on the show today.
- 3:57Speaker 1: This is so exciting and.
- 4:00Speaker 2: With either one you never really know what you're gonna get,
- 4:03Speaker 2: let alone both of them at the same time. So
- 4:05Speaker 2: let's let's just see where it goes. I have no
- 4:06Speaker 2: promises on how this show is going to roll. Let's
- 4:09Speaker 2: bring in Lars new Bower and Pedro Paz.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Yay, Hey guys, Yay, thanks for having us, Katie, Thanks
- 4:14Speaker 3: for having us, Katie.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Thank you. And how was that intro? All by myself?
- 4:18Speaker 4: That was like killed? It killed? It sounds like you've
- 4:21Speaker 4: been doing this for a while.
- 4:22Speaker 3: I know. Seriously, try my best.
- 4:25Speaker 1: No, we're not going to talk about the first take
- 4:26Speaker 1: that I have to start over.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Was it was it? It wasn't your fault, was it?
- 4:33Speaker 1: No? It was definitely my fault.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Okay, thank you for that. Yeah, I tried, I tried.
- 4:39Speaker 4: You have played that off so much better, Katie, But I.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Know, I know, I'll try to give you a little
- 4:44Speaker 3: little what's it called life rafter whatever they call it.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I'm a journalist. I believe in the truth of you guys.
- 4:50Speaker 3: That's fair, that's fair. That's why we're on here, Katie,
- 4:52Speaker 3: and that's why that's right.
- 4:54Speaker 1: All right, guys, Well one welcome.
- 4:57Speaker 2: This is exciting for me and I know you guys
- 5:00Speaker 2: are super busy, so thanks for taking the time.
- 5:02Speaker 1: House. Spring going. What are the highs? What are the lows?
- 5:08Speaker 3: I think the highs of the weather. Uh, it's been
- 5:11Speaker 3: it's been hot here in spring, No, I think I
- 5:14Speaker 3: think so far, camp's been going well. Obviously, a lot
- 5:17Speaker 3: of similar names, you know, from from last year, and
- 5:20Speaker 3: so another year for the guys to kind of mesh
- 5:23Speaker 3: and get back to it, you know. Some of the
- 5:26Speaker 3: lows are are the usuals of spring, you know, waking
- 5:29Speaker 3: up early every day, having to get to the field,
- 5:32Speaker 3: wearing a little sweater in the morning, and then leaving
- 5:34Speaker 3: the yard and being sweaty because it's hot by the
- 5:37Speaker 3: time you leave. But no complaints on my end, I
- 5:40Speaker 3: don't know about Pedro.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I'm just saying the same thing. Uh. Spring
- 5:43Speaker 4: has been pretty fun.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Obviously, the same kind of same group of guys from
- 5:46Speaker 5: last year, except now we have a new guy in
- 5:48Speaker 5: the clubhouse. But other than that, it's been pretty much
- 5:50Speaker 5: the same group meshing together. And only complaint is obviously
- 5:54Speaker 5: hopefully we get our timing right before season starts up,
- 5:56Speaker 5: so it's the biggest thing right now.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Hey, you know, I'm glad you said it because that
- 6:01Speaker 2: means I don't have to honestly, like, this is so
- 6:05Speaker 2: fascinating to me because spring training stats are spring training stats,
- 6:08Speaker 2: and we hear it all the time. Like I think
- 6:09Speaker 2: last week, Allie was asked how much he looks at
- 6:12Speaker 2: the box scores or how much that like factors into
- 6:14Speaker 2: his decisions right now, and he said he just simply
- 6:17Speaker 2: does not care. But of course, you guys, you want
- 6:19Speaker 2: to produce, and a lot of it is finding as hitters,
- 6:22Speaker 2: your feel getting timing down, adjusting to seeing live pitching again.
- 6:26Speaker 2: But at this point in camp, it's more about execution,
- 6:29Speaker 2: correct Yeah, I.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Mean, I think it all depends on where you are
- 6:34Speaker 3: in your career. Arc. I remember being in paid ros
- 6:38Speaker 3: shoes in twenty two and pressing and feeling, you know,
- 6:42Speaker 3: not performing the way I wanted to and wanted to
- 6:45Speaker 3: impress the coaching staff. And at that point, you know,
- 6:49Speaker 3: Shilty was a manager in twenty one and then all
- 6:51Speaker 3: he took over and thankfully there was some familiarity there,
- 6:54Speaker 3: but Skip came in as a bench coach and you
- 6:57Speaker 3: want to unpress him. And you know, so from day
- 7:01Speaker 3: one I kind of went in and was like, Okay,
- 7:02Speaker 3: I gotta impressed, and I pressed and didn't play well.
- 7:06Speaker 3: But for a guy like Nolan, you know, I don't
- 7:08Speaker 3: think results or Wilson, you know, I don't think results
- 7:11Speaker 3: are necessarily, you know, a paramount because they just have
- 7:15Speaker 3: to they understand where they're at. And so I think
- 7:19Speaker 3: it depends on where you are. But it always feels
- 7:22Speaker 3: good to hit good no matter where you are, you know.
- 7:25Speaker 3: And I'm sure if you ask Wilson or Nolan, you know,
- 7:28Speaker 3: they'd say the same thing, like, no, it doesn't really matter.
- 7:31Speaker 3: But trust me, if you're a competitor, if you're an athlete,
- 7:34Speaker 3: at any point in your career, performing better is always
- 7:37Speaker 3: better than not. And so I do think there is
- 7:41Speaker 3: an importance of where you are. But at the same time,
- 7:45Speaker 3: when you're doing really well in spring, you know, you
- 7:47Speaker 3: try to tell yourself like, oh, it doesn't matter, it
- 7:49Speaker 3: doesn't matter, but you're feeling good, you're sleeping well at night,
- 7:51Speaker 3: and if you're not, it's the other side where you're
- 7:53Speaker 3: kind of like, you know, at spring, like it's it's
- 7:56Speaker 3: all right, you know, the these dets don't matter.
- 7:59Speaker 4: It's true. Yeah, you said that perfect honestly. Like you said,
- 8:02Speaker 4: if it's.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Going bad and you're like spring cool, I'll figure it
- 8:06Speaker 5: out by season time. Hopefully it turns up. And if
- 8:08Speaker 5: it's going good, like you, everything's great.
- 8:14Speaker 3: You almost want the like you almost want like for me,
- 8:19Speaker 3: Like you want to perform well for yourself, you know,
- 8:22Speaker 3: for your for your own mental and physical state. But
- 8:24Speaker 3: at the same time too, like you know, I know,
- 8:27Speaker 3: the the wins and losses at this point don't matter,
- 8:31Speaker 3: But at the same time, like and it eases yourself,
- 8:34Speaker 3: it eases a hitting coach like Brownie who's new. You know,
- 8:38Speaker 3: you you want to do it for for the other
- 8:43Speaker 3: staff and for the players, and to take weight off
- 8:45Speaker 3: of other people because you know, when as a team,
- 8:49Speaker 3: when you're yelling, you know, and you're hitting well or
- 8:51Speaker 3: you're pitching well or doing whatever, you know, I life
- 8:54Speaker 3: is just better. And so you kind of just want
- 8:56Speaker 3: that part of it too.
- 8:58Speaker 1: That makes sense. I feel like, are you, Lars?
- 9:00Speaker 2: It hasn't been easy Since you were called up in
- 9:02Speaker 2: twenty one, You've had what three different hitting coaches Jeff
- 9:04Speaker 2: Albert Turner.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Ward and now Brent Brown.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and so not only I feel like I've tried
- 9:10Speaker 2: to explain this to just a few fans You've asked
- 9:11Speaker 2: about it, like, not only are you working on your
- 9:13Speaker 2: own individual things, but you're also learning a brand new
- 9:16Speaker 2: game plan again for the third time, and a brand
- 9:19Speaker 2: new approach and a brand new system that these hitting
- 9:21Speaker 2: coaches want you to do. And yes, there's some familiarity
- 9:25Speaker 2: with BA and Packi Elkin still here, but it is
- 9:27Speaker 2: Bran Brown's hitting program.
- 9:29Speaker 1: So adjusting to that takes time.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it does, And you know, I think he's done
- 9:34Speaker 3: a great job. And in the off season he was
- 9:36Speaker 3: communicating with us constantly, and you know he knows a
- 9:39Speaker 3: lot about hitting, and so for that it makes it
- 9:42Speaker 3: makes it easier. But yeah, I mean, it's it's not
- 9:44Speaker 3: quite like being a quarterback and having a new offensive coordinator,
- 9:48Speaker 3: new plays, because at the end of the day, it's
- 9:49Speaker 3: you and the box and you hitting. But there is
- 9:52Speaker 3: different terminology. There is different scouting reports, how you look
- 9:55Speaker 3: at them, what his plan is. Know, you just kind
- 10:00Speaker 3: of you you you You get used to it as
- 10:02Speaker 3: time goes. I remember looking at the first kind of
- 10:04Speaker 3: report and thinking it's going to take time. But now
- 10:06Speaker 3: I'm starting to see it over and over again. And
- 10:10Speaker 3: you know, but Katie, as you know, it wouldn't matter
- 10:13Speaker 3: what offensive coordinators you know, doing it for me, and
- 10:15Speaker 3: I'd be able to just go back there and sling it,
- 10:17Speaker 3: you know, as a quarterback. But you know, hitting is
- 10:19Speaker 3: a little bit hittings a little bit harder. So I
- 10:21Speaker 3: don't know, I don't know. I don't know if Pagel
- 10:23Speaker 3: can say the same.
- 10:24Speaker 4: But two time I'll state, two time, I'll state whatever.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Small state though, Katie, you know, a small state just
- 10:29Speaker 3: south Oregon. It's it's not.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Because of this reason right now, this right here, I
- 10:38Speaker 4: will say.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Like the backfields of Roger Deine are pretty expansive, but
- 10:43Speaker 2: why can I hear Lars. I'll be on like field
- 10:45Speaker 2: four and I can hear every conversation he's having on
- 10:48Speaker 2: like field.
- 10:49Speaker 4: One, like the loudest voice ever.
- 10:51Speaker 3: See that's good. See that's good information to know, because
- 10:54Speaker 3: so I need to lower my voice.
- 10:57Speaker 4: We've told these for over like multiple years now, though,
- 11:00Speaker 4: and you just you have one volume and it's okay.
- 11:04Speaker 4: I get guys, Yeah, it's you. It's okay.
- 11:07Speaker 5: We do have a competition lately, who could talk less
- 11:10Speaker 5: in the backs because they want us to be quiet
- 11:12Speaker 5: between me and him.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Right now, he's winning, I think, but it's kind of close.
- 11:16Speaker 3: That's the thing, Katie. I'm a loud talker and I
- 11:19Speaker 3: do talk a lot. But they're sneaky guys on the
- 11:22Speaker 3: team that talk just as much as me. It's just
- 11:26Speaker 3: not as loud, you know. And I'll take the fall
- 11:29Speaker 3: for the talkers. I'll take the fall for the talkers.
- 11:32Speaker 3: But we got some talkers on.
- 11:33Speaker 1: The team, all right, dude, can I guess a couple?
- 11:37Speaker 3: Well, you're looking at a couple.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I know.
- 11:39Speaker 3: That, Okay.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I just try to think who else?
- 11:42Speaker 2: I feel like Burley's a talker, but he's he's monotone, Yes.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Yeah, he's dry humor, dry humor talker.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I don't think.
- 11:52Speaker 2: I don't know if Miles Miles talks, that's fair good one.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 11:57Speaker 1: Am I missing anyone obvious?
- 11:59Speaker 3: I mean what I think about it. We don't have
- 12:01Speaker 3: that many.
- 12:05Speaker 5: We have we have Coke Cope is the opposite of us.
- 12:09Speaker 5: He's only in the bottom tier.
- 12:11Speaker 4: Yeah, sorry, I.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Need to get better on my name. Sorry.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I would hope that I would know, like the
- 12:21Speaker 2: actual names of the players in the in the.
- 12:24Speaker 3: We gave you that, We'll give we gave you that.
- 12:26Speaker 2: We give you that, all right, you guys, Pedro for you,
- 12:30Speaker 2: I mean, this is a completely different spring than you're
- 12:33Speaker 2: than what you were going through last year. I mean,
- 12:35Speaker 2: I remember meeting you for the first time, and you know,
- 12:37Speaker 2: they had Contra's behind the plate in Herrera as the backup,
- 12:39Speaker 2: and those roles were pretty solidified. But I remember talking
- 12:42Speaker 2: and you were saying, you know, like when they're ready,
- 12:44Speaker 2: I'm going to be up there. I'll be ready to
- 12:46Speaker 2: And then they needed to be ready real quick in
- 12:47Speaker 2: May when Contraras broke his arm.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Uh. And I think, honestly this goes probably a little.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Underappreciated for maybe just the baseball industry in general, but
- 12:56Speaker 2: what you and Yvonne had to do last year, two
- 12:58Speaker 2: rookie catchers, adjusting to the big leagues on your own,
- 13:01Speaker 2: working with an entire veteran staff, and then being in
- 13:04Speaker 2: the position of the Cardinals that year, coming off the
- 13:07Speaker 2: worst season in thirty years, all this pressure to make
- 13:10Speaker 2: the playoffs and not just like stay about five hundred,
- 13:14Speaker 2: but prove that twenty twenty three was.
- 13:16Speaker 1: A fluke you had to do all of that.
- 13:19Speaker 2: How difficult about learning experience is that for you in
- 13:21Speaker 2: your first year?
- 13:24Speaker 4: Yeah, he wasn't easy. Thank god.
- 13:26Speaker 5: We had a good group of guys, a veteran pitching
- 13:28Speaker 5: staff that helped a lot. I'm pretty sure I learned
- 13:31Speaker 5: a lot from them, just talking them on a daily basis,
- 13:33Speaker 5: just seeing what they liked to do.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Just getting to know them on and off the field.
- 13:37Speaker 5: I feel like that relationship itself helped us carry that
- 13:40Speaker 5: pitching staff to the best that we could and obviously
- 13:42Speaker 5: wanted to improve in that.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Point that we did from last year.
- 13:45Speaker 5: But I think just the way the position we were
- 13:48Speaker 5: in obviously is just we prepared ourselves and we helped
- 13:50Speaker 5: each other in whatever way we could, so like if
- 13:54Speaker 5: her had a question, to come up to me, and
- 13:55Speaker 5: if I had a question, I'll go up to him.
- 13:57Speaker 5: And even Wilson when he was here, he was still
- 13:58Speaker 5: around all the time, so it was a good to
- 14:01Speaker 5: happen there, and it was just we had to piggyback
- 14:03Speaker 5: off each other. And I think that's a relationship we
- 14:05Speaker 5: built for this year, and it's something me and Ivan
- 14:07Speaker 5: are going to try to keep going with because then
- 14:09Speaker 5: the day it's me and him this year, and it's
- 14:10Speaker 5: gonna be do whatever we can help the team win
- 14:12Speaker 5: at the end of the day. So I think the
- 14:14Speaker 5: biggest thing is just us talking to each other and
- 14:16Speaker 5: helping each other out. But I'm very grateful for the
- 14:18Speaker 5: veteran staff we had and the coaching staff itself. Talking
- 14:22Speaker 5: with Dusty Law last year on scouting reports and how
- 14:25Speaker 5: to look at hitters and analyze them, like I learned
- 14:27Speaker 5: a lot in that sense to be prepared for the game.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Is it.
- 14:32Speaker 1: It's kind of a unique experience for you guys right now.
- 14:34Speaker 2: I mean, for so long, the same those Cardinals have
- 14:36Speaker 2: operated in a traditional way and you know, just your luck,
- 14:39Speaker 2: you're coming up so buying your careers and they take
- 14:42Speaker 2: a huge turn in the organization.
- 14:44Speaker 1: But you know, this can be one of two ways.
- 14:46Speaker 2: You can look at it in the negative way, or
- 14:47Speaker 2: you can look at it in a positive way.
- 14:49Speaker 1: And the positive way is that you two both and
- 14:52Speaker 1: so do.
- 14:52Speaker 2: A lot of your teammates have an opportunity to represent
- 14:55Speaker 2: like the next wave of the Saint Lost Cardinals. If
- 14:57Speaker 2: you go out and you perform to the way that
- 14:59Speaker 2: you know, people believe that you can, and you believe
- 15:01Speaker 2: that you can you can be kind of that next
- 15:03Speaker 2: face you think of what your coaches descalso John Jay
- 15:06Speaker 2: Skip Schumacher did in twenty eleven, twenty twelve.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Those years.
- 15:11Speaker 2: You know, I'm not saying that this is going to
- 15:13Speaker 2: be fixed overnight, but you do have an opportunity to
- 15:15Speaker 2: kind of put the organization in a new direction starting
- 15:18Speaker 2: this year.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Have you guys thought about that at all?
- 15:23Speaker 5: You yeah, I think obviously you look at that and
- 15:26Speaker 5: you want to do that because, like you said, there's
- 15:28Speaker 5: going to be opportunities. Different opportunities are supposed to give
- 15:30Speaker 5: us this year and what they're trying to do with
- 15:32Speaker 5: the whole system as a cardinal organization.
- 15:35Speaker 4: But I think I don't want to like.
- 15:37Speaker 5: Look too far into the future and just worry about
- 15:38Speaker 5: the now and personal opinion, Like I just want to
- 15:40Speaker 5: worry about just being ready for the season and not
- 15:43Speaker 5: putting that pressure of like, oh maybe I could be
- 15:45Speaker 5: the next let's say, for example, Yadi of this organization.
- 15:47Speaker 4: I don't want to think like that.
- 15:48Speaker 5: I want to think about what I can do this
- 15:50Speaker 5: year to like pretty much solidify my name up there
- 15:53Speaker 5: and just show that I could belong up there in
- 15:54Speaker 5: a sense and just be ready to go.
- 15:56Speaker 4: And I think that's the way I look at it.
- 15:58Speaker 5: And if it ends turned me out that way, great,
- 16:01Speaker 5: and if it doesn't, I just at least I gave
- 16:03Speaker 5: it everything I had to do that, you.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Know, Yeah, that's a great that's a great point. Is
- 16:11Speaker 3: the thing about the now? Uh, you know, it's no
- 16:15Speaker 3: secret people are you know, talking about us or whatever,
- 16:18Speaker 3: and rightfully, so, right like, we haven't been in the
- 16:20Speaker 3: playoffs in the past two years, and you know, you
- 16:22Speaker 3: got to kind of take the punches and roll with
- 16:24Speaker 3: them at this point, you know, like we haven't. We
- 16:26Speaker 3: haven't been in the playoffs the past two years. So
- 16:28Speaker 3: people can say whatever they want. But I think for
- 16:31Speaker 3: me personally, coming up, like we were talking about Katie,
- 16:34Speaker 3: in twenty one, that was a very very veteran team,
- 16:37Speaker 3: very very veteran. And then the next year it was
- 16:41Speaker 3: still pretty veteran, but there was some you know, more
- 16:44Speaker 3: younger guys coming up. And in twenty three and twenty
- 16:48Speaker 3: four it was more of the same. We added obviously
- 16:50Speaker 3: Lance and Gibby or yeah, Lance and Gibby last year
- 16:55Speaker 3: and Sonny and and so we got you know, older there.
- 16:58Speaker 3: But throughout the whole process for position player wise, you know,
- 17:02Speaker 3: a guy like myself was able to hide behind cart Nolan, Goldie,
- 17:07Speaker 3: Albert YACHTI. I don't know if I'm missing anybody on
- 17:10Speaker 3: the position player wise not, you know, and then we
- 17:12Speaker 3: acquired Wilson and there was always kind of that question
- 17:15Speaker 3: of being asked, you know, oh, the younger crew, the
- 17:18Speaker 3: younger group you know of guys, and we've kind of
- 17:20Speaker 3: been able to kind of hide behind them. And now
- 17:24Speaker 3: it's kind of our time to kind of this isn't
- 17:29Speaker 3: an pooper, get off the pot, you know, and where
- 17:32Speaker 3: it's kind of like you know, you yeah, you can okay, yeah,
- 17:37Speaker 3: you know, kind of shuter get off the pot, and
- 17:40Speaker 3: you know, it's it's it's to a point where, you know,
- 17:43Speaker 3: like they say, we're going to get opportunity and so
- 17:46Speaker 3: we should be excited about that. We should be you know,
- 17:48Speaker 3: you know, ready to do it. And you know, for
- 17:51Speaker 3: a lot of times so far, you know, we we've
- 17:53Speaker 3: been able to kind of hide behind the shadows of
- 17:56Speaker 3: the Nolan and the Goldies and the MVPs of of
- 17:59Speaker 3: the time that we been here, and now it's time
- 18:02Speaker 3: for us to step up. There's there's you know, there's
- 18:04Speaker 3: no excuses left and so it's just we go out
- 18:07Speaker 3: there and play, and you know, if we go out
- 18:10Speaker 3: when the World Series, great, If we don't, you know,
- 18:12Speaker 3: we'll come back next year. But at the same time,
- 18:14Speaker 3: we got to look at ourselves honestly and kind of
- 18:17Speaker 3: have a you know, some some self evaluation and and
- 18:20Speaker 3: and look at ourselves and how we can improve. And
- 18:23Speaker 3: I think that's the main thing for for a lot
- 18:24Speaker 3: of young players is making sure that we're improving every
- 18:26Speaker 3: single day and then at the end of the year
- 18:28Speaker 3: we'll see where we land. But just making sure that
- 18:31Speaker 3: we don't just give a give away this opportunity because
- 18:33Speaker 3: we do have a good opportunity ahead of us.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You do, and you know what it is, right, I
- 18:37Speaker 1: think when I or you are right.
- 18:38Speaker 2: When I walked in the clubhouse for the first day
- 18:40Speaker 2: of spring training this year, I was like, jump scare
- 18:43Speaker 2: because all the veterans that we've been used to because
- 18:47Speaker 2: you and I came in the same.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Year, right, they were gone. And I amazately like, oh
- 18:51Speaker 1: my gosh, I'm an old person.
- 18:53Speaker 3: And we talked about that.
- 18:56Speaker 1: When did we get hold?
- 18:58Speaker 2: Yeah, But it is such a different style of Cardinals baseball,
- 19:03Speaker 2: But it doesn't have to be bad, Like different doesn't
- 19:06Speaker 2: have to be bad, and there are plenty of players
- 19:08Speaker 2: to get behind.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I mean, Jordan.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Walker, hopefully this knee thing is over in the next
- 19:12Speaker 2: couple of days. If he can hit and show what
- 19:15Speaker 2: he did in the minors, that's super exciting.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Nolan Gorman has had that pull power from the left
- 19:19Speaker 1: side forever. Now it's just about if.
- 19:21Speaker 2: They can find it consistently, and you can go down
- 19:24Speaker 2: the list and think of something positive with almost every
- 19:26Speaker 2: single player on the roster right now that has such
- 19:28Speaker 2: a high upside. So why I understand that fans are
- 19:31Speaker 2: frustrated It is, at least in my opinion and my perspective,
- 19:35Speaker 2: it's always interesting to see how players in these roles
- 19:37Speaker 2: are looking at it because you just never know what
- 19:40Speaker 2: could happen. I mean, who would have thought in twenty
- 19:43Speaker 2: twenty two that season would have gone the way that
- 19:45Speaker 2: it did.
- 19:45Speaker 1: All the highs and the lows right, right.
- 19:48Speaker 3: And that's the thing too, Like baseball is such a
- 19:51Speaker 3: long season, Like they're going to be highs and there's
- 19:54Speaker 3: going to be lows, right, and like you never want
- 19:57Speaker 3: to ride the highs, but you also never want to
- 19:59Speaker 3: ride the lows either, And you understand that you're not
- 20:01Speaker 3: as good as they say you are, and you're not
- 20:02Speaker 3: as bad as they say you are either. So it's
- 20:04Speaker 3: just like keeping that steady, that steady pace throughout the season.
- 20:09Speaker 3: And you know, I think that's why Paeder said it best, like, well,
- 20:11Speaker 3: we're we're going to be where feed are, you know,
- 20:13Speaker 3: that day, and so we have a great opportunity. You know,
- 20:17Speaker 3: we're going to go out and show it. But at
- 20:19Speaker 3: the same time, you know, like you said, different doesn't
- 20:22Speaker 3: have to be bad, and I promised like none of
- 20:24Speaker 3: us are expecting to be bad this year. So I'm optimistic.
- 20:28Speaker 3: I'm excited about it. I know Pedro is too.
- 20:31Speaker 1: But yeah, well fire me up, guys. You know what,
- 20:38Speaker 1: it's been a fun spring at least for me.
- 20:40Speaker 2: I know you guys have been playing a lot of golf,
- 20:42Speaker 2: but Pedro it has not been like the best spring
- 20:44Speaker 2: for you. Here week goed like in an unfair amount.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Whether it's like your friends, your.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Own organization, I don't I'm not going to bring up
- 20:53Speaker 2: the baseball card however that was. That was pretty brutal.
- 20:56Speaker 2: You guys haven't seen it. Pedro has a sick tops card.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Out this year.
- 21:00Speaker 5: No, there's only one out there in the market, and
- 21:03Speaker 5: I'm gonna buy it as soon as I see it.
- 21:04Speaker 4: I don't care what it costs. I will buy it.
- 21:06Speaker 5: Whoever finds it, just DM me, I'll buy it. Look
- 21:08Speaker 5: at this, she's look at this, look at this.
- 21:10Speaker 1: So this is the worst one, all right?
- 21:13Speaker 5: But wait, wait, wait, can I explain the backstory on this.
- 21:15Speaker 5: I'll send send you the video after then you.
- 21:17Speaker 4: Can post it.
- 21:18Speaker 1: So you need to cheer your side of the story.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Yeah, so my side of the story.
- 21:22Speaker 5: Beautiful drive first shot hit it about two ninety three,
- 21:25Speaker 5: I think to be exact, right down the middle of fairway, beautiful.
- 21:28Speaker 5: We're playing an alternate shot, me and Lars against Hellesley
- 21:31Speaker 5: and Fern Fernandez and uh.
- 21:34Speaker 4: So I go first. I hit the shot the driver beautiful.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Then Lars goes and he's his t until you know,
- 21:40Speaker 4: lend it close to the green at least. No, he
- 21:43Speaker 4: goes really left.
- 21:45Speaker 5: At a bounds. I have to take a drop. So
- 21:47Speaker 5: then the pressures on me now that I have to
- 21:49Speaker 5: chip eighty seven yards. That's not my distance. I don't
- 21:51Speaker 5: play that distance very well usually unless I can bump
- 21:54Speaker 5: and run in, you can't do it there.
- 21:56Speaker 4: So that's what happens.
- 21:58Speaker 5: So Lars didn't obviously post his video of his shank,
- 22:01Speaker 5: but it's okay.
- 22:02Speaker 4: I'll take the blame.
- 22:03Speaker 5: You know what, Hey, that publicity is still good publicity
- 22:06Speaker 5: and I'll take it.
- 22:07Speaker 3: It's no. The thing is any publicity is good publicity.
- 22:11Speaker 4: The same thing this is that this is bad publicity.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Though this is bad publicity right here, it's not bad.
- 22:18Speaker 4: That went so far right it's unbelievable.
- 22:21Speaker 3: I mean, the the funny part is. The funny part
- 22:28Speaker 3: is is that wasn't the first shank.
- 22:33Speaker 4: Who were not.
- 22:36Speaker 3: So so listen both. It was a part five. It
- 22:40Speaker 3: was a par five. I went for the green. It
- 22:41Speaker 3: was a par five. I went for the green after
- 22:43Speaker 3: his beautiful drive?
- 22:44Speaker 4: Was it a part five?
- 22:46Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 22:47Speaker 4: We were like one ninety out more.
- 22:52Speaker 3: So what I did go? I did go left, I
- 22:55Speaker 3: did go left, and I go all right, page, let's
- 22:56Speaker 3: go like my bad you know, pick me up, pick
- 22:58Speaker 3: me up right here. This guy goes. This guy goes
- 23:01Speaker 3: shank right and then we're like, oh no, and he
- 23:05Speaker 3: was like, come on, give me another shot, give me shots.
- 23:07Speaker 3: We're like all right, go ahead. So then we were
- 23:09Speaker 3: filming on his phone and I'm filming it and he
- 23:12Speaker 3: shanks it again. So immediately I go, I go to
- 23:17Speaker 3: the video, I send it to myself because I know
- 23:20Speaker 3: he was gonna delete it as soon as he did it. All.
- 23:22Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that video was never coming out of my phone.
- 23:24Speaker 3: It was never gonna come out.
- 23:25Speaker 4: But I knew immediately.
- 23:26Speaker 3: I was like, I gotta do it, So I jump
- 23:27Speaker 3: on it, send it to myself. We got out of there.
- 23:30Speaker 3: He's like, I'm not showing anybody that ever again, and
- 23:32Speaker 3: I was like, bro, don't worry about I already have it.
- 23:34Speaker 3: So then, yeah, of course I had it. It's rookie hazing.
- 23:37Speaker 3: That's that's modern day, that's twenty twenty five rookie hazing.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's okay.
- 23:42Speaker 5: And then the one that Cardinals ask my stuff because
- 23:45Speaker 5: cold Turkey, and then just get to a whole ten.
- 23:47Speaker 4: It was not fun.
- 23:49Speaker 5: I was just cold out there, but we had a
- 23:50Speaker 5: good time. It was just tough first two shots. That
- 23:53Speaker 5: was that, and of course thefore Nolan got you.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, Nolan, Yeah, Nolan got me right. I was
- 23:59Speaker 4: I wasuggling.
- 24:00Speaker 5: I went out to California and I played horrible out there,
- 24:02Speaker 5: and I started struggling and hating golf for a while
- 24:05Speaker 5: by retiring, and then Nolan fixed me and we're good.
- 24:07Speaker 4: We're back, We're almost there, we're almost. Well.
- 24:10Speaker 1: You guys have a little like golf gang.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Right, it's you Nolan, You guys, Nolan, Hellsley, Uh play.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Who's That's That's basically it. Yeah, we go out, when
- 24:21Speaker 3: we go play, it's it's a lot of times it's me, Pedro, Mike,
- 24:25Speaker 3: Hell's Nolan. We played with Burley a few times. Vic
- 24:28Speaker 3: starting to get into it too, But yeah, that's Sonny.
- 24:33Speaker 3: That's but that's kind of the the the usual suspects
- 24:35Speaker 3: out there that are hacking courses.
- 24:37Speaker 5: It's because we're kind of the same golfer. So it's
- 24:39Speaker 5: kind of fun playing with each other, you know, we
- 24:41Speaker 5: just except Nolan.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I was going to say, fair game.
- 24:47Speaker 5: It's usually us against him and we still pretty much
- 24:50Speaker 5: almost lose every time.
- 24:51Speaker 2: But okay, so Nolan's the best golfer. Who's like, if
- 24:54Speaker 2: you who's the worst?
- 24:57Speaker 4: We have our days. I don't know.
- 24:59Speaker 5: Lately it was I'll be honestly, it was me say
- 25:03Speaker 5: I'll stay but but you get asked new though he's
- 25:07Speaker 5: seen me when I'm actually pretty good. I was not
- 25:09Speaker 5: pretty good. I was okay at golf, and it was
- 25:11Speaker 5: it was good.
- 25:11Speaker 3: He's a volatile golfer, Katie. That's what I'll say. He
- 25:15Speaker 3: has his highs and his and his lows are are low.
- 25:21Speaker 3: They are low low low. Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 25:26Speaker 1: My take is I think I can beat both of
- 25:28Speaker 1: you guys.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Do you have game?
- 25:30Speaker 1: I got game?
- 25:32Speaker 4: Really, I don't know about that.
- 25:34Speaker 2: I mean, you have to let me play from the
- 25:36Speaker 2: reds because you know, like women's rights. But yeah, but
- 25:41Speaker 2: you know.
- 25:41Speaker 3: I mean i've seen you like post pictures or Emily
- 25:44Speaker 3: post pictures. If you guys on the course.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Do you think I'm there to mess around? I don't
- 25:49Speaker 1: know I am, but I can I can also.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Okay, all right, that's.
- 25:53Speaker 1: My hot take.
- 25:54Speaker 3: We might have to we might have to do that.
- 25:56Speaker 5: Then we're gonna have to set it up and we'll
- 25:58Speaker 5: record it like this all you know, sit afterwards.
- 26:01Speaker 1: That's fine because I know one thing that that will
- 26:02Speaker 1: not be posted a shank like yours, because I won't
- 26:06Speaker 1: do that.
- 26:06Speaker 5: No, no, no, I'm gonna have We're gonna have our
- 26:09Speaker 5: separate recording just in case you do shank one.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Wow, We're gonna get you said, that's okay. I think
- 26:15Speaker 1: I really think I could.
- 26:16Speaker 3: So I didn't know that about you, Katie. I didn't
- 26:19Speaker 3: know that about you.
- 26:20Speaker 1: You worked together for five years. You don't know anything
- 26:22Speaker 1: about me. It's fine.
- 26:23Speaker 3: I don't know nothing about you.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I didn't know.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't know you have game. I didn't know.
- 26:27Speaker 5: That's another hot take right there. Yeah, right, But he
- 26:31Speaker 5: doesn't know anything about you.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I know, I know, No, we I have. I've called
- 26:34Speaker 1: them my ogs.
- 26:35Speaker 2: So they are players that I've covered since my first
- 26:37Speaker 2: year and they're like since twenty twenty one, and I
- 26:40Speaker 2: have technically three, so it's Nolan, Hellesley, Lars, but I
- 26:47Speaker 2: throw Miles in there, even though he was hurt all
- 26:49Speaker 2: of twenty one so I didn't really meet him until
- 26:51Speaker 2: the end of the season. But it still counts. So
- 26:53Speaker 2: down four ogs. That's crazy.
- 26:55Speaker 3: That is crazy. That is crazy.
- 27:00Speaker 5: It does four guys still holding on, four guys still
- 27:03Speaker 5: holding on.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Baby well, seventeen game win streak.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Oh, that would almost put me in the grave. Yeah, uh, Lars,
- 27:13Speaker 2: you have a spring training room.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Me right, it's Hellsley, I too.
- 27:16Speaker 3: I have Hellsley and I have Siani.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Oh that's cute. Well, Pedro Patro, where are you at?
- 27:21Speaker 1: Where are your roomies.
- 27:23Speaker 5: No, I live with my fiance out here, and uh
- 27:27Speaker 5: I thank the household the whole spring training pretty much.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Well, you've been there all off season.
- 27:31Speaker 4: I've been here.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Off season pretty much living. So I moved out of Miami.
- 27:35Speaker 5: I couldn't do Miami anymore. Love Miami, love my people
- 27:37Speaker 5: down there. But uh yeah, it was too much down there.
- 27:41Speaker 5: I wanted to focus up a little bit, and I
- 27:44Speaker 5: did mature.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Wait, okay, if you who was the one player on
- 27:49Speaker 2: your team that you would not room with?
- 27:53Speaker 5: Ooh, I'm gonna out answer some quick, and I'm gonna
- 27:59Speaker 5: say Jay Walk because he plays video games too late.
- 28:02Speaker 2: And yeah, I just I you know, no, do all
- 28:05Speaker 2: you guys always bring your video games on the road.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Yeah, but there's bedtime, you know, there's times you have
- 28:11Speaker 4: it's over with, Let's go to bed.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Okay, Lars.
- 28:19Speaker 3: See, this is like a good opportunity for me to
- 28:21Speaker 3: be like all Hellsley or all Pedro. But me and
- 28:24Speaker 3: Pedro would get along just fine. Healthy. I hate to
- 28:28Speaker 3: say Healthy is a good roommate. I hate to say
- 28:30Speaker 3: he's a good roommate.
- 28:32Speaker 1: You're the bad roommate of that group.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Wow, listen, listen, listen, no, I mean, what is itations accusations?
- 28:41Speaker 3: These are crazy out of you, Katie. I'm looking at
- 28:47Speaker 3: this coffee table and there might be two hats on
- 28:49Speaker 3: there that are mine, along with the one that's on
- 28:50Speaker 3: my head. Right now, that's about it. Pedro comes over
- 28:54Speaker 3: a decent amount and he sees it. It's not bad
- 28:56Speaker 3: over here.
- 28:57Speaker 5: No, it's a great it's a great little Oh, I
- 29:04Speaker 5: have another one. Sorry, you can go first, go ahead. No, no,
- 29:09Speaker 5: you got it.
- 29:13Speaker 4: You don't have it.
- 29:13Speaker 5: I guess you're about to say something I was gonna say.
- 29:18Speaker 5: Tommy said Gacy. I can't do it. I love him,
- 29:22Speaker 5: he's my boy on the field. Love him great, dude.
- 29:24Speaker 5: But he's into some not weird stuff. I call him
- 29:28Speaker 5: weird because I don't do it. But he's into some
- 29:30Speaker 5: weird stuff about like the whole tape over his mouth,
- 29:33Speaker 5: the red light thing.
- 29:37Speaker 3: See, I don't mind that.
- 29:38Speaker 4: No, no, no, but no, he goes deep. You know,
- 29:40Speaker 4: he goes deep into it. Dude. It's too much. I don't.
- 29:42Speaker 4: I don't like. I'm just going to bed, dudey cry,
- 29:45Speaker 4: close your eyes.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Go to bed. Every night I go, obviously, you know,
- 29:49Speaker 3: I showered, blush my teeth, put in my retainer.
- 29:52Speaker 5: Okay, give me a hose spiel chopstick, chopstick, Okay, take
- 30:00Speaker 5: tape over the mouth you.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Oh every night? Well your mouthpaper, dude, I'm asked.
- 30:08Speaker 1: That sounds right, definitely.
- 30:13Speaker 3: I listened. Tell me I have become I have become
- 30:18Speaker 3: a nighttime routine diva. I'm not proud of it, but
- 30:22Speaker 3: it's it's been the it's it's been for the better.
- 30:29Speaker 4: It's Lila.
- 30:31Speaker 3: Listen. I've been teammaking. I was teammates with Goldie for
- 30:34Speaker 3: what twenty one, twenty two, twenty three, twenty four, four seasons.
- 30:40Speaker 3: This guy did everything he could to try to get better,
- 30:42Speaker 3: and he told me mouth tape. Goldie tells me mouth tape.
- 30:44Speaker 3: I'm mouth taping. I'm not. I'm listen. I listen when people,
- 30:48Speaker 3: when people of HI your status talk to.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Me, except when he talks you on the golf course.
- 30:55Speaker 4: But yeah, keep going.
- 30:56Speaker 3: No, that's not true either. That's not true either. So
- 31:00Speaker 3: when Pedro talks to me, boom, it's water off my back,
- 31:02Speaker 3: one ear out the other. When Goldie tells me to tape,
- 31:08Speaker 3: I tape. When they say, you know, I'm asked, I
- 31:11Speaker 3: am ass.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Who told you? I who told the imask, the ie mass.
- 31:15Speaker 3: I can't.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Just like I mask. It's okay, you can like the eyemask,
- 31:20Speaker 1: but I'm.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Trying to think now. I'm trying to think.
- 31:22Speaker 4: Now I can't.
- 31:24Speaker 3: I can't remember what got me into the I had
- 31:26Speaker 3: to have been Goldie. There's no way I just went
- 31:28Speaker 3: straight iemasked on my own.
- 31:29Speaker 4: We're gonna have to ask Goldie about this one. Did
- 31:31Speaker 4: you tell new to wear an I mask to litle bit?
- 31:34Speaker 3: No, I can't remember, but now I love it. I
- 31:38Speaker 3: love the eyemass, the i'm ass is.
- 31:40Speaker 4: I didn't not know that about you.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Man, This is a lot I didn't know.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I didn't know exactly I said this to any of
- 31:44Speaker 2: the podcast. I don't know where this is going to go.
- 31:46Speaker 2: I did not know we were going to get into night
- 31:48Speaker 2: time routines, but paedro is important. I was like in college,
- 31:51Speaker 2: never really big on a nighttime routine or skincare. Probably
- 31:54Speaker 2: because I was in college, but I because you guys
- 31:57Speaker 2: stress me out so much. Have I'm like just married
- 32:00Speaker 2: to the skincare routine. Now I have to do it.
- 32:02Speaker 3: No.
- 32:02Speaker 5: I take care of my but I'm not wearing a
- 32:04Speaker 5: table in my mouth and putting an eye mask on,
- 32:07Speaker 5: like he doesn't putting like chance to writing my list
- 32:09Speaker 5: before go to bed.
- 32:09Speaker 4: That's weird. I don't know. That's too much.
- 32:12Speaker 3: That's not bad.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Right, is not bad? That's like.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Skincare is my list.
- 32:19Speaker 4: I feel just fine, though, dude.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Is the step is the next step of like diva
- 32:25Speaker 3: status for me? I can't get myself to do skincare,
- 32:29Speaker 3: but he wants to.
- 32:37Speaker 4: But you're gonna have a little whole bag with your little.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Every night great every night for me. Pedro knows this
- 32:49Speaker 3: a lot of people. I have to shower before I
- 32:51Speaker 3: go to in in my bed, I have to obviously,
- 32:54Speaker 3: you got to brush your teeth right before you go
- 32:56Speaker 3: to bed. You have to put wash the retainer, clean
- 32:58Speaker 3: the retainer, and do all that apstick thing I'm asked.
- 33:02Speaker 3: It's taking up it's taking up a decent amount of
- 33:06Speaker 3: my time at night, and.
- 33:08Speaker 4: You should be bless. So you're kind of hurting yourself.
- 33:10Speaker 3: The skin this. But I am falling asleep faster the
- 33:14Speaker 3: skincare might take. It might just be too I might
- 33:17Speaker 3: wake up to get ready by the time I get
- 33:20Speaker 3: home at four pm. I gotta start my nighttime routine.
- 33:22Speaker 3: I don't know if I'm ready to do that.
- 33:23Speaker 2: No, we're gonna see Pedro while she's gonna have this
- 33:26Speaker 2: like big ass bag, and it's gonna.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Be like, who is the skin routine?
- 33:32Speaker 3: Yeah? See, I'm not I'm not ready to fully commit
- 33:34Speaker 3: to the skincare. And I will say I abuse my
- 33:37Speaker 3: skin too, because as a kid growing up going to
- 33:39Speaker 3: the beach every day in the summer, never any sunscreen.
- 33:41Speaker 3: To this day, still don't where sunscreen. I know I
- 33:45Speaker 3: need to because I get dark too, I get the sun.
- 33:48Speaker 4: There's things about sunscreen that they say it's bad too.
- 33:50Speaker 4: So what is terrible now if you want to talk about.
- 33:53Speaker 3: I don't know. I think sunscreen is probably good for me.
- 33:55Speaker 3: I probably need some of that.
- 33:57Speaker 4: You do you do? I tell you every time that
- 33:59Speaker 4: your next is dark? Dark you are.
- 34:03Speaker 2: When I came back after my little week off, everyone
- 34:05Speaker 2: looks so tanned.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Yeah I'm jealous. Yeah all right, but yeah, that's that's
- 34:11Speaker 3: my for you.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Just learned so much about you guys in the last day.
- 34:15Speaker 4: Wait, who's your roomate? You never answered the question?
- 34:17Speaker 1: Never a question?
- 34:19Speaker 3: Get back to I didn't. I was trying to dodge
- 34:22Speaker 3: I was trying to dodge it.
- 34:26Speaker 4: Thank you. Someone dude, don't be scared.
- 34:27Speaker 3: It's okay, Jay, Walk's not a bad one. That's not
- 34:33Speaker 3: a bad one. M h.
- 34:41Speaker 4: I'm trying to think of other the ones.
- 34:43Speaker 1: It's really good at a lot of dead air on.
- 34:45Speaker 1: The podcast is really good, Lars.
- 34:46Speaker 3: It's great podcasting. This is this is unbelievable podcasting for
- 34:50Speaker 3: the people that are listening and not watching. I'm sitting
- 34:53Speaker 3: here thinking about my teammates and who I would not
- 34:59Speaker 3: want to sleep with, not sleep with me, who I
- 35:04Speaker 3: would hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 35:16Speaker 4: This has to make the cut. Please, you gotta be this.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Minute.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Listen.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Oh my god, you guys, I'm going to cut the show.
- 35:28Speaker 1: We're done.
- 35:31Speaker 3: We're done with this. We're gone. We're not. Oh my god.
- 35:41Speaker 3: That came out terribly. That was awesome, awesome thinking like roommate,
- 35:48Speaker 3: you know where I was going. We're talking about sleep routines.
- 35:50Speaker 3: That was bad. That's a bad slip up. That's being good.
- 35:53Speaker 3: You're not proud of Yeah, all right, man, that was great.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Good That was for the dead air. Listen. I had
- 35:59Speaker 3: to fill the air. I have to feel that that
- 36:01Speaker 3: time right there. That's on me. Listen. We got a
- 36:04Speaker 3: couple of laughs. Out of it.
- 36:05Speaker 4: Screw it, We're going amazing.
- 36:08Speaker 5: Okay, tears in her eyes, right, Well, that was awesome
- 36:13Speaker 5: the way that came out, it was just it came
- 36:15Speaker 5: out so smooth.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Geez, you guys all right before before we get reported
- 36:21Speaker 2: for like inappropriate messaging on the pod, Nah, what is
- 36:26Speaker 2: there anything that you guys want fans to know about
- 36:28Speaker 2: this season or what your outlook is or just like
- 36:31Speaker 2: your general vibes heading into a new year.
- 36:33Speaker 5: I think just to honestly be positive about it. We're
- 36:37Speaker 5: gonna be young, we're gonna be exciting. It's pretty much
- 36:39Speaker 5: like we said earlier. It's kind of the same group
- 36:41Speaker 5: we had last year, just with one more year of experience.
- 36:43Speaker 5: So I think it's just be a positive thing from that,
- 36:46Speaker 5: Like it's one more year of experience, one more to
- 36:48Speaker 5: learn from it and get better whatever and improves. So
- 36:51Speaker 5: I think it's just stay positive, aout it, go out there.
- 36:53Speaker 5: We're just gonna go out there every day and compete
- 36:54Speaker 5: and just be in the moment and just see where
- 36:57Speaker 5: we end up.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Yeah. I think I think, Uh, I mean we we
- 37:02Speaker 3: we love Saint Louis, obviously, we love the fans, and
- 37:04Speaker 3: we don't take that for granted, so first and foremost,
- 37:06Speaker 3: like obviously we're very grateful for that, and we're in
- 37:09Speaker 3: a very blessed situation being in the big leagues and
- 37:12Speaker 3: even more blessed being able to play in Saint Louis
- 37:14Speaker 3: because we get experienced a lot of things that you know,
- 37:17Speaker 3: a lot of people don't. But yeah, I mean, like
- 37:20Speaker 3: Page was saying, man, we're gonna be where we are.
- 37:22Speaker 3: But at the same time, like there there's there's there's
- 37:25Speaker 3: gonna be hiccups throughout the season. There always is, even
- 37:27Speaker 3: with the teams that that win it all every year,
- 37:29Speaker 3: there there's hiccups and there's gonna be some bumps and
- 37:31Speaker 3: there's some bruises, but we're gonna grow from them. We're young,
- 37:34Speaker 3: but we're you know, I promise we're working tirelessly, like
- 37:39Speaker 3: we'd like to have fun and us two are kind
- 37:40Speaker 3: of clowns and we joke around, but we we work
- 37:43Speaker 3: tirelessly like that's what we're that's like, this is our
- 37:45Speaker 3: job and we take it very seriously. But you know,
- 37:49Speaker 3: we're excited and and we're gonna grow together and we're
- 37:52Speaker 3: gonna take our punches together, but we're also gonna compete together.
- 37:55Speaker 3: And we're gonna get a put a good product on
- 37:56Speaker 3: the field. So I'm excited. I'm motivated. I know everybody
- 38:00Speaker 3: else in the clubhouses and so we're excited for the season.
- 38:03Speaker 3: We need to support. We feed off that energy, and
- 38:06Speaker 3: so you know we're we're we're looking forward to it though.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I love that.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Guys, seriously, thank you so much for doing this. I
- 38:13Speaker 2: know it's probably not your favorite thing to do after
- 38:15Speaker 2: having to talk to me every day for six months
- 38:18Speaker 2: to do it extra in your time.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Off, so I was my biggest slip up I've ever
- 38:22Speaker 3: had talking to you too, Katie, four years.
- 38:26Speaker 5: And you just cut back clip and send it to
- 38:28Speaker 5: me that we don't have to I know I need
- 38:32Speaker 5: that clip, Katie.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Not only am I going to keep it because I
- 38:35Speaker 2: don't know how to edit these things out, I'm going
- 38:38Speaker 2: to keep it regardless because it was so good.
- 38:40Speaker 5: It's perfect perfect. I can't wait till you and I'm
- 38:44Speaker 5: thinking about it. If I stip up again and then
- 38:47Speaker 5: I have that against you, we're good.
- 38:48Speaker 3: I'm thinking about it too now. And I was like,
- 38:50Speaker 3: Pedro knows this about me. I shower before I go
- 38:52Speaker 3: to bed every night. What is going on here?
- 38:56Speaker 4: Like what you were going. You were going down the
- 38:59Speaker 4: rabbit hole right there.
- 39:00Speaker 1: This is no longer a family friendly podcast. Last time comes.
- 39:04Speaker 3: As soon as you told me that I can cuss
- 39:05Speaker 3: on here real fast, everything went out the door.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Guys, Thank you so much again Cardinal Territory fam. We
- 39:15Speaker 2: are back next week. Trevor Rosenthal is back. We got
