Legendary pianist and bandleader Eddie Palmieri died this month at his home in Hackensack. He was 88. Palmieri was celebrated for his innovations in jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms, as well as using his music to speak out against injustice. Ed Morales is an author and journalist who recently wrote the article, "Eddie Palmieri’s 13 Essential Songs and Albums," in The New York Times.
