- 2:22Trisha Smith: Yeah, there. I hadn't tried it. I bought it.
- 2:26Leyla Zmeskal: It's good.
- 2:28Trisha Smith: It's got like coconut cream or something.
- 2:30Leyla Zmeskal: We might need to make like a pitstop to pick up some more.
- 2:36Diane Black: I feel like the theme this summer was coconut.
- 2:39Trisha Smith: Yeah, right.
- 2:41Leyla Zmeskal: Is summer over already?
- 2:42Diane Black: No, it is not. No.
- 2:45Leyla Zmeskal: It's still Summer.
- 2:47Diane Black: You're correct.
- 2:48Tiffany DeLeon: It's halftime.
- 2:49Leyla Zmeskal: You are correct.
- 2:49Diane Black: You are correct.
- 2:50Trisha Smith: Yeah.
- 2:51Leyla Zmeskal: Thank you for catching me on that. I don't want summer to be over. So our summer theme has been a lot of coconut in our drink A lot of pineapple rum.
- 3:03Diane Black: A lot of Tropical rum.
- 3:04Leyla Zmeskal: A lot of tropical rum yeah, so what are you? What are you drinking Diane?
- 3:10Diane Black: I'm not.
- 3:10Leyla Zmeskal: Oh. You're having the illusion
- 3:14Diane Black: I am having the illusion.
- 3:16Trisha Smith: Yeah,
- 3:17Diane Black: it's wet cold and very quenching.
- 3:21Trisha Smith: There you go.
- 3:22Leyla Zmeskal: Illusion-y.
- 3:23Trisha Smith: Yeah, I know.
- 3:23Trisha Smith: Diane has to work today. Damn job.
- 3:29Diane Black: Gotta cut out early today. I love my job but I can't go do my job, you know, drunk.
- 3:38Trisha Smith: You, could,
- 3:39Diane Black: But it's kind of frowned upon.
- 3:39Leyla Zmeskal: Like most jobs.
- 3:39Leyla Zmeskal: Trisha What about you? What do you drinking today?
- 3:49Trisha Smith: I am, I am also partaking in the Tiki mixer from St. Augustine Distillery and the Coconut rum from City Gate. So of course, that's my new favorite. Like,
- 4:02Leyla Zmeskal: It's good.
- 4:03Trisha Smith: Just came out like a month ago and I'm obsessed.
- 4:07Trisha Smith: I'm gonna have to go back and buy more because yes, I'm almost out. But, you know was a lit le too coconutty for me, so I ad to throw in a little.
- 4:23Leyla Zmeskal: You're Filipino sass rum,
- 4:24Trisha Smith: Right.

- 4:28Trisha Smith: Kasama
- 4:29Leyla Zmeskal: Kasama
- 4:30Trisha Smith: I keep wanting to call it Kamala.
- 4:38Leyla Zmeskal: Is that what you're calling it today? o
- 4:42Diane Black: Kamala on vacation.
- 4:46Diane Black: Yeah, what about you Leyla?
- 4:49Leyla Zmeskal: Shockingly enough. I am going along the same lines as everybody else with the St. Augustine Distillery Tiki mixer. I'm also having the City Gate Coconut Rum, however I added a splash of Lacroix Passionfruit.
- 5:06Diane Black: Yes,
- 5:08Leyla Zmeskal: For a little bit of effervescence.
- 5:12Diane Black: She getting all fancy over there. It's for, it's for her one of her favorite followers.
- 5:20Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah.
- 5:23Trisha Smith: Yeah,
- 5:25Tiffany DeLeon: Bonjour.
- 5:25Diane Black: Although we don't know this person. She, she feels like she has connected and has a friendship with our
- 5:31Leyla Zmeskal: Or it could be he.
- 5:32Diane Black: Or he, with the Frenchie.
- 5:36Tiffany DeLeon: Send us some bread and cheese, maybe some wine.
- 5:38Leyla Zmeskal: Oh, yeah. I'm all about some wine.
- 5:42Trisha Smith: We need to be like Ed McMahan. Does anybody?
- 5:45Leyla Zmeskal: I remember Ed McMahan. Publisher Clearing House original.
- 5:51Trisha Smith: It's like some young guy now,
- 5:56Diane Black: but we're like, tied into like magazine subscriptions. Like,
- 6:01Tiffany DeLeon: I don't know, I get phone calls daily from the Publishers Clearing House.
- 6:06Diane Black: Are you serious?
- 6:07Tiffany DeLeon: I've yet to get balloons or the check.
- 6:10Trisha Smith: Do they want your social security number.
- 6:12Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah, my blood type too. Maybe my firstborn, but they haven't won it yet.
- 6:18Leyla Zmeskal: Trisha was canceled earlier today.
- 6:20Trisha Smith: I know, my social security number was cancelled.
- 6:26Trisha Smith: Like, yeah, this can't be legit.
- 6:29Leyla Zmeskal: So call us and we'll tell you how to reinstate your number.
- 6:33Trisha Smith: Just give us your social security number.
- 6:35Trisha Smith: o we can tell you if it's leg t or not.
- 6:38Leyla Zmeskal: 99.95 for a reinstatement fee of your social security number.
- 6:42Trisha Smith: And give us your credit card number.
- 6:45Leyla Zmeskal: Press one if you're buying this. Press two if you need more information.
- 6:53Tiffany DeLeon: But if you buy now you can get a free VISA credit card.
- 7:01Leyla Zmeskal: That sounds completely legit to me.
- 7:03Trisha Smith: Right.
- 7:04Leyla Zmeskal: I don't understand why you didn't fall for it. Trisha.
- 7:06Trisha Smith: You know,
- 7:07Leyla Zmeskal: It was close.
- 7:08Trisha Smith: I just, it was the recording. I didn't answer quick enough.
- 7:11Leyla Zmeskal: I think if we weren't here, you probably would
- 7:14Trisha Smith: I would have taken the call and been all over that.
- 7:14Trisha Smith: have taken the bait.
- 7:18Leyla Zmeskal: We, we talked to down.
- 7:20Trisha Smith: Right, I'm going to start giving my, those kind of calls to Donovan.
- 7:26Leyla Zmeskal: You should
- 7:27Tiffany DeLeon: Tell him it's Santa and lose his mind. They'll never call again.
- 7:34Trisha Smith: Great Idea.
- 7:37Diane Black: That would be funny. And please do record.
- 7:40Trisha Smith: Oh, yeah. And you know, good stuff. They might answer him he'll, he'll be like, God damn it.
- 7:49Diane Black: I'm talking to you.
- 7:50Trisha Smith: Right, answer me.
- 7:53Leyla Zmeskal: No, you listen, Santa.
- 7:54Trisha Smith: God damn it.
- 7:57Trisha Smith: He's going through a phase right now where he repeats everything.
- 8:01Trisha Smith: And unfortunately, a lot of what he repeats happens to be out of my mouth.
- 8:10Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah, it's just enhancement words. Right?
- 8:16Leyla Zmeskal: As the parent of a three year old?
- 8:18Tiffany DeLeon: Yes. I'm waiting for the day. I get a call from a school teacher. Aurora said Oh, shit. Well, okay. Call me when there's a real problem,
- 8:25Trisha Smith: Right.
- 8:25Diane Black: Yeah,
- 8:26Leyla Zmeskal: That's exactly how the conservation would go.
- 8:27Trisha Smith: Can you please teach her if that's a noun, or an adjective. An actual verb, what context was that in? Until you have more information. We really have nothing to work on.
- 8:45Leyla Zmeskal: Get back with this later.
- 8:47Trisha Smith: Yeah. What were you saying about Ted? You were gonna say?
- 8:50Diane Black: Oh, he answers those calls.
- 8:53Trisha Smith: Does he really?
- 8:54Diane Black: And he fucks with them. He'll put on an accent.
- 8:59Diane Black: He'll be like, whoa, whoa, No I'm serious,
- 9:03Leyla Zmeskal: She almost spat that out her nose.
- 9:06Diane Black: Sorry. He does.
- 9:06Diane Black: That's exactly. When you see him next time. He goes, whoa, whoa.
- 9:11Diane Black: And then they'll be talking.
- 9:16Diane Black: Hello? Oh, whoa. No, no, no, no speak English. And they keep going and immediately no speaking, and then they end up hanging up on him.
- 9:28Trisha Smith: Leyla, you need to ask if it's City Gate calling in your special voice.
- 9:33Leyla Zmeskal: Oh, hello, it's this City Gate, mostly sghostly, Shiki gates, I luv you shity gates, hwello, shity gates.
- 9:55Leyla Zmeskal: hwello?
- 9:55Trisha Smith: They would hang up on you, I think.
- 9:58Trisha Smith: I think it's a super duper pleasant voice.
- 9:58Leyla Zmeskal: Are you sure?
- 10:03Trisha Smith: If they hang up on you, you to answer all my calls after that,
- 10:06Leyla Zmeskal: I will answer every call like that. Trisha is that you, are we going to St.
- 10:11Leyla Zmeskal: Augustine to shity gates?
- 10:18Trisha Smith: Yeah,
- 10:18Leyla Zmeskal: I'm ready for pickup.
- 10:19Trisha Smith: See how that works, Perfect.
- 10:26Leyla Zmeskal: Perfect.
- 10:27Trisha Smith: They don't know what's, what's in it.
- 10:29Leyla Zmeskal: I don't think they want any part of this.
- 10:31Trisha Smith: They should.
- 10:32Diane Black: They shouldn't want part of it.
- 10:33Leyla Zmeskal: They probably don't know.
- 10:35Diane Black: Well, they just don't know what they're missing.
- 10:37Diane Black: I think,
- 10:38Leyla Zmeskal: True statement.
- 10:38Leyla Zmeskal: Speaking of what they're missing.
- 10:42Diane Black: Yes,
- 10:42Leyla Zmeskal: We don't want our listeners to miss any part of this because today, we're going to be talking about someone's first paranormal investigation.
- 10:52Tiffany DeLeon: Yes, we saw the spooky spookies.
- 10:57Trisha Smith: Sorta heard a little bit about it, but she's been saving it.
- 11:02Leyla Zmeskal: Saving it.
- 11:02Diane Black: Yeah, She's a virgin, was a virgin?
- 11:05Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah, that's tight. Now we're a little open.
- 11:07Diane Black: Yeah.
- 11:10Leyla Zmeskal: That escalated quickly. All right. So buckle up while we latch on. That was for you, Diane.
- 11:23Diane Black: I looked at you.
- 11:23Diane Black: You saw me look at you.
- 11:30Leyla Zmeskal: Goodness. All right. So I spent some time with Tiffany, and Kenny, her husband and Aurora up in St. Augustine for the week. It was a beach week and invited me.
- 11:46Trisha Smith: So nice.
- 11:47Leyla Zmeskal: We stayed in Valino. Right?
- 11:49Tiffany DeLeon: Yes.
- 11:49Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah, in a little Airbnb, like ran across a beach.
- 11:53Leyla Zmeskal: It was very nice.
- 11:54Trisha Smith: The best.
- 11:55Leyla Zmeskal: So one night, Tiffany and I ditched off and we went on a paranormal investigation.
- 12:04Trisha Smith: Right. I remember hearing about this.
- 12:06Leyla Zmeskal: So it was at Ghost Augustine's like, it's like their headquarters. Would you say I guess that's what I was.
- 12:14Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah, cuz that's how she kind of explained it. It was their head office and one of the rooms.
- 12:19Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah,
- 12:19Trisha Smith: Really? So they own, they own the house.
- 12:22Leyla Zmeskal: They own the house. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 12:25Leyla Zmeskal: And we got there early, a little early. And I guess it's part of their normal tour, because there was a tour group already in there. And when that particular tour groups guide came out and said, Oh, you your tour is not starting yet. You have to wait outside. So we did. And apparently the house is haunted by how many ghosts, ghosts was it four?
- 12:51Tiffany DeLeon: Four or five? It was like a couple that overdosed?
- 12:55Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah,
- 12:55Tiffany DeLeon: A boat captain.
- 12:57Leyla Zmeskal: Aye mate.
- 12:58Tiffany DeLeon: Yar A young lady, I guess a little girl.
- 13:04Leyla Zmeskal: A little girl.
- 13:04Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah.
- 13:05Tiffany DeLeon: And then a very angry slave.
- 13:08Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah, I guess that's what they said. Because he I guess there was like, back in the day. You know, there was a plantation that wasn't far from the house. And I guess on that property, I guess that's where the slave houses were.
- 13:23Trisha Smith: Oh, Okay,
- 13:25Leyla Zmeskal: And something about a tree?
- 13:27Trisha Smith: Uh huh.
- 13:28Leyla Zmeskal: Do you remember the tree?
- 13:29Trisha Smith: Something about a tree.
- 13:30Leyla Zmeskal: Like it was a big tree or something that was, so he was supposedly lynched on the tree or hung from the tree or,
- 13:39Tiffany DeLeon: Very plausible.
- 13:39Tiffany DeLeon: I know he was requesting a rocking chair. Apparently, though.
- 13:42Leyla Zmeskal: Yes. he had requested a rocking chair because he liked the patio of the house. And I guess he was very protective of the patio. He did not show during our investigation. Neither did the old boat captain. Nor did the overdose couple. However, what did pop up through the SLS camera was the little girl.
- 14:09Leyla Zmeskal: There was like a chair was like, um, because this office chair.
- 14:17Trisha Smith: Yeah,
- 14:17Leyla Zmeskal: You could spin around and she liked the office chair. So you would see like a little stick figure sitting in the office chair,
- 14:25Trisha Smith: When no one was there.
- 14:27Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah, no one was over there yet ,but through the SLS , through tthe SLS you could see the stick figure up there.
- 14:34Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah, that was fun. And then in the kitchen, there was some weird thing that like tried to take your phone,
- 14:39Leyla Zmeskal: Maybe.
- 14:40Leyla Zmeskal: Maybe, I don't remember that part but they gave us, they had like a whole list of, of tools that you could use. And one of them was like a music box that if you put it in the part of the room and It shout, it shout out, it shot out, like some movement beam and if you crossed in front of the beams, the music box would, the music would play. So we went into one room that was supposed to be like the old boat captain's favorite room and Tiffany and I set up the music box in that room.
- 15:23Tiffany DeLeon: I think I scared myself more than anything. All the time and it just doo doo doo doo doo. I'm like, Oh, Leyla, there's somethig, what's going on.
- 15:33Trisha Smith: Oh, wait, it's me.
- 15:33Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah, You just passed infront of the stream.
- 15:38Leyla Zmeskal: So tell us your feeling about your first paranormal investigation. How did you like it?
- 15:45Tiffany DeLeon: I mean, I had a good old time. I love doing scary things, even though I'm the first one to go hide in a corner while I'm doing it.
- 15:54Trisha Smith: The thought of doing something scary is always appealing.
- 15:57Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah.
- 15:58Trisha Smith: And then you get there and you're like, nope.
- 16:00Tiffany DeLeon: What are we doing?
- 16:01Trisha Smith: Maybe, nope! Really? Nope!
- 16:02Leyla Zmeskal: No, we might. We might see some Yeah, because when that's, that's true.
- 16:05Leyla Zmeskal: Because when we first she's like, okay, here's the things you're welcome to do. Whatever.
- 16:14Leyla Zmeskal: And if you want to shut off some lights go shut off some lights.
- 16:16Tiffany DeLeon: I was like, No, thanks. No, no, we get the
- 16:19Leyla Zmeskal: I was like Tiffany, you want me to go shut lights on for now.
- 16:21Leyla Zmeskal: off the lights? She goes not ready yet. Not ready for the lights to go out.
- 16:28Tiffany DeLeon: Okay, I gotta warm up to the ghosties first, but I grabbed some dowsing rods.
- 16:31Tiffany DeLeon: Those are fun. But yeah, I ask stupid questions like, what's your favorite color? Do you like blue? Do you want some candy?
- 16:42Tiffany DeLeon: I feel they get bamboozled by Oh, how did you die? Well, I've been asked that question. 6000 times,
- 16:49Trisha Smith: Right.
- 16:52Leyla Zmeskal: Tiffany was the hard hitting investigator. She wanted to know what was his favorite color?
- 16:58Trisha Smith: Right,
- 16:58Tiffany DeLeon: Gotta get to the core.
- 17:01Leyla Zmeskal: Get down to the core.
- 17:02Trisha Smith: You know.
- 17:03Tiffany DeLeon: Do you want the purple mermaid or the blue mermaid?
- 17:09Leyla Zmeskal: Boat captain, did you ever see a mermaid when you were out there?
- 17:13Tiffany DeLeon: We didn't ask him that.
- 17:14Leyla Zmeskal: I know. We can always go back.
- 17:17Tiffany DeLeon: Okay.
- 17:19Trisha Smith: How old was the house that you do you remember when it was built?
- 17:24Tiffany DeLeon: I think it was only built in like the 60s or,
- 17:27Leyla Zmeskal: They had no,
- 17:28Tiffany DeLeon: It wasn't an old house.
- 17:30Trisha Smith: The house itself wasn't old. But the property.
- 17:34Leyla Zmeskal: The property was old.
- 17:35Trisha Smith: Okay,
- 17:36Leyla Zmeskal: It was like a tiny house though, was a super tiny, tiny like, it had a very tiny little kitchen, had a hallway. And it just had three bedrooms but they were super small. And like a center area.
- 17:49Leyla Zmeskal: Two rooms you can go into, one room apparently had a bunch of activity in there. We were doing the investigation with another family I would say and apparently they had all kinds of like activity inside that room.
- 18:08Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah, the blue light, red light.
- 18:10Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah, they had lights where you can like they can turn on lights and things and apparently that was very active. But Tiffany and I we're just started her own and we ain't got shit, like nothing. We saw the little girl that supposedly likes to play there at the SLS and the SLS camera and, and that's about it. I mean, other than Tiffany scaring yourself with, with the music box many times. Which was hilarious. There was one setup in the kitchen, and,
- 18:47Tiffany DeLeon: Oh, gosh, I about ran from that one.
- 18:51Leyla Zmeskal: Tiffany finally got brave enough is like like to venture off on her own. So she walks down the little tiny hallway to the kitchen. And as soon as she gets into the kitchen, it goes doo doo doo doo. She's like, Oh my god!,
- 19:05Tiffany DeLeon: I think I jumped.
- 19:09Leyla Zmeskal: What was your favorite part about that night?
- 19:10Tiffany DeLeon: I think just the music box shenanigans. That was a solid time. But I mean, playing with the chair and stuff. The SLS meter was fun.
- 19:21Leyla Zmeskal: I did some of the ghost apps.
- 19:23Trisha Smith: Uh huh.
- 19:23Leyla Zmeskal: And there was a few words that came through,
- 19:26Trisha Smith: Right.
- 19:27Leyla Zmeskal: I wonder if I can pull them back up because I think if this is the last time I looked, I actually use that.
- 19:33Trisha Smith: Well wouldn't have been very long. Like a month ago, right? Yeah, it wasn't very long. It might still be there.
- 19:39Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah. What it was like asylum and fire.
- 19:42Trisha Smith: Was there ever a fire in the area or, in with the house. or,
- 19:49Leyla Zmeskal: See we did it? We did our little investigation on June 9. And the words that came through were dress, Lisa, asylum, burnt, funny, unforgettable,
- 20:07Trisha Smith: Huh?
- 20:07Leyla Zmeskal: Killed, Satan.
- 20:12Trisha Smith: Of course,
- 20:13Tiffany DeLeon: That was when I was in the kitchen with the music box.
- 20:15Leyla Zmeskal: Oh, yeah, that's Yeah.
- 20:17Tiffany DeLeon: As soon as I cross ed it was like, doo doo doo , satan.
- 20:20Tiffany DeLeon: I'm like, huh?
- 20:23Leyla Zmeskal: None. How do you feel?
- 20:26Trisha Smith: Oh,
- 20:26Leyla Zmeskal: Sorry, sacrifice, no, lady and one,
- 20:32Trisha Smith: Huh?
- 20:33Leyla Zmeskal: So those were all the words. And you and I have used this, this particular app a couple times, Trisha. And it doesn't necessarily all the time, like spew out words like another app that we've used use, Josephine, Francisco,
- 20:50Trisha Smith: Reginald,
- 20:53Leyla Zmeskal: Say my name bitch! Reginald
- 20:58Trisha Smith: That's not my name.
- 21:00Trisha Smith: Right, right. But yeah, I, you know, I feel like 50% of the words probably apply to your situation, you know, and the rest, you know, I doesn't cycle through like airwaves, or Ithink
- 21:17Leyla Zmeskal: I that particular one does,
- 21:18Trisha Smith: I think that it's probably picking up stuff that you know, are just random, but
- 21:24Leyla Zmeskal: How do you feel maybe that was a song.
- 21:29Tiffany DeLeon: It's top 10 now.
- 21:30Trisha Smith: Right.
- 21:31Leyla Zmeskal: Could be, could be,
- 21:33Trisha Smith: So would you do this tour again?
- 21:36Leyla Zmeskal: I don't know if I would do that particular tour again. I would probably want to do the lighthouse.
- 21:45Trisha Smith: Absolutely.
- 21:46Leyla Zmeskal: That's what I probably want to do is the is the lighthouse.
- 21:50Trisha Smith: Yeah,
- 21:50Leyla Zmeskal: That to me would be lots of fun,
- 21:53Trisha Smith: Right. Yeah, I definitely want to do the lighthouse.
- 21:57Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah, yeah, that would be fun.
- 21:59Trisha Smith: We have toddlers here today.
- 22:02Leyla Zmeskal: My little God daughter is here.
- 22:04Trisha Smith: Yeah.
- 22:05Leyla Zmeskal: I just touched her and she's like ugh,
- 22:08Trisha Smith: And my grandson is running around. I'm sure he's been heard too. But they're having fun. They're playing and having a swimming day.
- 22:20Tiffany DeLeon: Living their best lives.
- 22:21Trisha Smith: Oreo snacks and,
- 22:24Leyla Zmeskal: Juice cups.
- 22:25Trisha Smith: Yeah.
- 22:26Tiffany DeLeon: Now it's nap time.
- 22:27Trisha Smith: Toddler life.
- 22:29Leyla Zmeskal: I know.
- 22:29Trisha Smith: You know, as an adult. We have such an appreciation for being a toddler. You eat, you play you nap. I wish I knew those things when I was three.
- 22:45Leyla Zmeskal: You do eat, play, and nap still, Trisha.
- 22:47Trisha Smith: I really do. I really do. Play dates right here, right here today.
- 22:59Leyla Zmeskal: We have one scheduled for Friday.
- 23:01Trisha Smith: Right? Right.
- 23:01Trisha Smith: Yeah,
- 23:02Leyla Zmeskal: We have a scheduled Friday playdate.
- 23:04Trisha Smith: We're going back to St. Augustine.
- 23:06Tiffany DeLeon: Oh, some more bottles?
- 23:08Leyla Zmeskal: Yes.
- 23:08Trisha Smith: Yes. Actually.
- 23:12Trisha Smith: We actually won a bottle though.
- 23:12Trisha Smith: from St. Ira from City Gate. So we have to go pick it up.
- 23:17Leyla Zmeskal: Wer're claiming it,
- 23:18Trisha Smith: If we're gonna drive all the way up there. We might as well pick up a couple more.
- 23:22Leyla Zmeskal: And have lunch.
- 23:23Trisha Smith: And have lunch,
- 23:24Leyla Zmeskal: At,
- 23:25Trisha Smith: Harry's. And so this investigation, did you, when you walked up to the house?
- 23:31Trisha Smith: Like was it? Did they do anything? Was it just a nondescript house?
- 23:38Leyla Zmeskal: Absolutely,
- 23:39Trisha Smith: There was no signage?
- 23:41Leyla Zmeskal: Nope,
- 23:42Trisha Smith: There was nothing saying that they did anything like this there?
- 23:45Leyla Zmeskal: Nope. It was a little tiny old house.
- 23:50Trisha Smith: In a neighborhood?
- 23:51Leyla Zmeskal: Kind of off a main street.
- 23:54Trisha Smith: Right.
- 23:55Leyla Zmeskal: The one of the tour guides said it wasn't like the best neighborhood of course, she told us that after the investigation was over. We're like, Oh,
- 24:03Trisha Smith: Thanks.
- 24:05Tiffany DeLeon: I was a little worried about my car. I'm like, gonna be ,gonna be out there.
- 24:07Tiffany DeLeon: And not on cinder blocks
- 24:11Leyla Zmeskal: You could of told us that before. But it was just hopefully a nondescript house. I mean, no creepy feelings. I got like, when we first pulled up, I mean, it looked dark and stuff. You could see the computer on through a window, like so there was a monitor in the office area, and you could see like the monitor was on but other than that, I don't think there was anything really,
- 24:36Trisha Smith: Right.
- 24:38Leyla Zmeskal: Weird or strange about it.
- 24:39Trisha Smith: No creepy vibes.
- 24:39Trisha Smith: Like, did you, was it weird? Was it like, colder in the house?
- 24:46Leyla Zmeskal: No,
- 24:47Tiffany DeLeon: I expected like the wild Arctic, because ghosts are there It's cold.
- 24:51Trisha Smith: You would think.
- 24:52Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah,
- 24:53Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah. And when the first group left, the tour guide, as she was leaving was like, oh, they're very active in there tonight. And we're like, oh, well, what are we gonna get it?
- 25:03Trisha Smith: Yeah. Did you get anything on The Voice Recorder?
- 25:07Leyla Zmeskal: I don't think so.
- 25:07Leyla Zmeskal: No, I don't think so.
- 25:11Trisha Smith: Well,
- 25:12Leyla Zmeskal: I know.
- 25:13Trisha Smith: I know. We're gonna have to try something else in St. Augustine,
- 25:17Leyla Zmeskal: Lighthouse.
- 25:18Trisha Smith: Lighthouse.
- 25:19Tiffany DeLeon: Lighthouse.
- 25:23Trisha Smith: Right, right,
- 25:24Leyla Zmeskal: Would you do another one?
- 25:25Tiffany DeLeon: Oh, totally. I mean, I grew up watching MTV fear, where they drop them in the middle of like an insane asylum. And they're like, here's a checklist for the night.
- 25:33Leyla Zmeskal: You're so young.
- 25:34Tiffany DeLeon: I know, now I don't even know what they play on there.
- 25:38Leyla Zmeskal: I have no idea.
- 25:39Trisha Smith: I don't remember what it was called. But I remember that same, you know, was it 90s, early 2000s, where they would go to different locations. And they would like strap the body cam where it was aiming at the person's face. And they were running.
- 25:54Tiffany DeLeon: Yes. And you just see them like crying in fear, and then they get back and everyone's like,
- 25:58Trisha Smith: What's the hell wrong with you.
- 25:59Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah.
- 26:02Trisha Smith: So 90s, for sure.
- 26:02Trisha Smith: I think those body cams are like, you know, where they aimed at people with that was like when they first started using them. And that was what they used them for. And that used to terrify me. Like at that point in my life. I'm, I'm a young adult. I've got children, but the camera faced at somebody's face and seeing them so scared.
- 26:28Trisha Smith: Just makes you scared. But you don't even know why you're scared.
- 26:32Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah,
- 26:33Trisha Smith: I'm so scared. You know, in real life, you're like, there was nothing I would totally be able to do. But then you know, somebody struck me.
- 26:43Trisha Smith: I'd be like, I don't even know the things that would come out of my mouth. They kicked me off the show. They'd be like, lady, you're not allowed to cuss or pee your pants. You just can't do either on TV
- 26:58Leyla Zmeskal: And I do both.
- 27:00Trisha Smith: I cuss and I pee my pants when i'm scared so shut up.
- 27:10Tiffany DeLeon: So were bringing depends To the Lighthouse is what you're telling me?
- 27:13Trisha Smith: Right? And but only if I'm scared. So far we haven't done anything that I've been scared.
- 27:18Trisha Smith: She's been like, say my name bitch.
- 27:21Tiffany DeLeon: I'm still waiting for the elevator game episode.
- 27:24Trisha Smith: Right, you have to like, find a place that nobody
- 27:24Leyla Zmeskal: Oh, would be in the, we have to find a hotel that's more than 10 storeys tall.
- 27:32Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah.
- 27:33Trisha Smith: That people wouldn't be getting on at three o'clock in the morning. I'd be all over it. I would do it.
- 27:38Tiffany DeLeon: Well bring a little basket of booze with us to.
- 27:42Trisha Smith: An offering because you're not supposed to look that lady in the eye. I'd be like,
- 27:46Leyla Zmeskal: Have some of this,
- 27:47Trisha Smith: Cheers,
- 27:48Leyla Zmeskal: One for you, homie.
- 27:55Leyla Zmeskal: Oh my goodness.
- 27:56Trisha Smith: Yeah. I'm just waiting for the perfect opportunity. And then all end up possessed. or something?
- 28:02Leyla Zmeskal: You never know.
- 28:06Trisha Smith: You never know.
- 28:07Leyla Zmeskal: Never know. So you lived in, I'm changing subjects. Speaking of hauntings and weird things. You lived in Maui for a while?
- 28:17Tiffany DeLeon: We did.
- 28:18Leyla Zmeskal: Maui is got I think one or two,
- 28:23Tiffany DeLeon: Oh there's time fo Hawaii has had a bunch of stories. They're very one with the the earth over there one with the community. And uh, you you touch a leaf the wrong way and vengeance is coming for you.
- 28:42Leyla Zmeskal: I know when I went over there, we went to, what was it, one of the volcanic like the black rocks?
- 28:50Tiffany DeLeon: Oh, yes. black sand beach. Wai'anapanapa on the way to Hana.
- 28:54Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah.
- 28:54Leyla Zmeskal: And you see everyone trying to grab lava rock and you don't take lava rock.
- 29:00Trisha Smith: I heard that back with the Brady Bunch.
- 29:04Tiffany DeLeon: It's legit, they get mail,
- 29:06Trisha Smith: Yeah, they get this ship back because people take it home and they're like I'm cursed, forever.
- 29:13Leyla Zmeskal: Yeah, that was one of the things Tiffany and Kenny were like, Leyla, don't if you want to take some lava rock home, just don't do it. I wasn't even thinking about it. But Thanks for the warning. But it wasn't like taking something like that didn't even cross my mind, but they're like, Don't Leyla. I'm like, I'm not guys.
- 29:31Trisha Smith: I Like how they're like have tell you four or ive times,
- 29:35Leyla Zmeskal: Like I'm not doing it.
- 29:37Tiffany DeLeon: It wasn't me.
- 29:38Leyla Zmeskal: No.
- 29:39Trisha Smith: Yeah, I learned that in the 70s The Brady Bunch they, they took one that was the same year that Fonzie jumped the shark.
- 29:48Tiffany DeLeon: And you talked about me dating us?
- 29:54Leyla Zmeskal: True, true,
- 29:56Tiffany DeLeon: Oh, happy days.
- 29:57Leyla Zmeskal: Fonzie and th shark jumping.
- 30:00Trisha Smith: That was 80s already they'd already evolved.
- 30:03Trisha Smith: No, wait a minute. That's a totally different show.
- 30:05Leyla Zmeskal: It is.
- 30:05Trisha Smith: I know, I was like watching Fonzie and the Brady Bunch. Yeah.
- 30:11Tiffany DeLeon: Two, two totally.
- 30:14Trisha Smith: But hey, same shit, different show.
- 30:22Leyla Zmeskal: Oh my goodness.
- 30:23Trisha Smith: So yeah, that's that's been around for a long time.
- 30:26Leyla Zmeskal: Has been, so what are other some of the things out there?
- 30:29Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah, the lava rock. If you're ever on a O'ahu where Honolulu in the North Shore. Don't bring pork on the Polly, so one of their goddesses Pele. She was dating. I always forget his name, but he was half pig half God. They were dating, you know, things got intense.
- 30:47Tiffany DeLeon: And she broke it off with them.
- 30:50Tiffany DeLeon: So he lived on one side of the island. She lived on the other.
- 30:53Tiffany DeLeon: And now if you try to drive across the island with pork in your car, it will stall on the middle of the highway.
- 31:00Trisha Smith: Ah,
- 31:01Leyla Zmeskal: Oh,
- 31:01Trisha Smith: So, but can you eat pork on the other side?
- 31:05Tiffany DeLeon: You can eat pork on both sides.
- 31:06Trisha Smith: Just don't try to bring it across.
- 31:09Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah, you got leftovers, you leave it?
- 31:11Trisha Smith: Wow.
- 31:12Trisha Smith: Wow.
- 31:14Tiffany DeLeon: And then for us on Maui. To get from kihei to Lahaina, you got to go through the highway. And there's a nice little tunnel there, which you always beep through. But there's always a lady it's usually Pele again, she disguises herself as either an old or young lady dressed all in white. And you offer her a ride. Good Juju. If you take her and all of a sudden next thing you know, you turn a corner and she's disappeared.
- 31:42Tiffany DeLeon: It's not in your backseat anymore. your truck bed, whatever you picked her up in, but it's very good to pick her up. Now if you blow past her, you're gonna have a rough couple days.
- 31:53Trisha Smith: Wow, Lady in white.
- 31:55Trisha Smith: Did you ever see the lady in white?
- 31:57Tiffany DeLeon: I did. And it was I didn't know if it was a homeless person or if it was her. But the more I think about it, it was just a very faint shadow on the side of the road just kind of wandering down. And then my husband one night he's coming home late and he too has seen Pele and
- 32:14Leyla Zmeskal: Did he offer a ride?
- 32:15Tiffany DeLeon: She wasn't asking. She didn't ask either of us. She was just wandering but she'll she'll throw her arm out if she needs a lift.
- 32:23Trisha Smith: You don't just have to randomly pull over if you see her. Okay,
- 32:29Tiffany DeLeon: She's got her chosen few.
- 32:31Trisha Smith: So you're not cursed or anything, just blow past her and she's not asking.
- 32:38Tiffany DeLeon: No you still stand a chance.
- 32:39Trisha Smith: Maybe a line of cars, I saw something.
- 32:44Tiffany DeLeon: Pick up this one. Oh, no, that's really a homeless dude. Okay.
- 32:50Tiffany DeLeon: There's a guy, we always called him the Prophet, he would wear a trash bag.
- 32:56Leyla Zmeskal: Oh,
- 32:57Tiffany DeLeon: Up and down the highway. He was a staple of Kihei town.
- 33:01Leyla Zmeskal: I don't think we saw that when I was there. So any other lores or legends of,
- 33:08Tiffany DeLeon: I mean, the famous ones are the Night Marchers. You'll see the lights in the mountains, you'll hear the beating of the drums the conch shell blowing and if you see no one around you because it's not a luau, then you get down and you close your eyes.
- 33:20Tiffany DeLeon: Because if you look at them, it either brings death to you or death to a family member. And the only way to get out of that is to not look them in the eye.
- 33:33Tiffany DeLeon: Or if you are of you know, Hawaiian blood and one of your ancestors is part of them.
- 33:37Tiffany DeLeon: They'll vouch for you and say they're okay. Leave them alone, and they'll carry on marching through the night.
- 33:44Trisha Smith: Wow.
- 33:45Tiffany DeLeon: Fun Stuff.
- 33:46Trisha Smith: That's cool.
- 33:46Leyla Zmeskal: Isn't there something another thing about doors or,
- 33:50Tiffany DeLeon: Thinking you can't cut your hair or your nails at night? Because the spirits can steal you away?
- 33:56Leyla Zmeskal: Okay.
- 33:57Tiffany DeLeon: And I don't think you're supposed to. You're not supposed to like point your feet at doors,
- 34:02Leyla Zmeskal: Okay I think that's what it is.
- 34:05Tiffany DeLeon: Because that way you can also get taken because you're already facing the exit.
- 34:11Leyla Zmeskal: Okay,
- 34:12Tiffany DeLeon: And so it kind of leaves an open invitation for whatever spooky is in your house to be like, Oh, hey, their feets pointing this way. They means they want to hang out with me.
- 34:21Tiffany DeLeon: Take them home.
- 34:22Trisha Smith: Wow.
- 34:24Leyla Zmeskal: Wow, so much.
- 34:25Trisha Smith: And a lot of it I'm sure it's like Filipino culture. It's not like we kind of say, oh, legend and lore.
- 34:37Trisha Smith: It's more like way of life for them. So it's exotic to us.
- 34:44Trisha Smith: Yeah, not so much for them. It's just like, just follow the rules people.
- 34:49Tiffany DeLeon: Not rocket science. Don't take the Black Rock home and it'll all be good.
- 34:52Tiffany DeLeon: Just respect to the respect the culture. All you got to do over there.
- 34:59Leyla Zmeskal: I mean that's not hard,
- 35:01Trisha Smith: Well, I think like other cultures like I hate, I mean, I hate to phrase it like that. But I think like other people who are more, like you were saying connected to their surroundings connected to their people, you know, it's easier to embrace those things because they are passed down generation to generation.
- 35:25Leyla Zmeskal: Right.
- 35:26Trisha Smith: As opposed to us here in Orlando, where our biggest worry is construction.
- 35:34Tiffany DeLeon: Will I4 ever be done.
- 35:36Leyla Zmeskal: Oh my gosh.
- 35:39Trisha Smith: We have no connection to our sir.
- 35:42Tiffany DeLeon: No driving here.
- 35:42Tiffany DeLeon: I saw like two new apartment complexes and, a ER, I'm like, okay,
- 35:48Leyla Zmeskal: Right. Right.
- 35:49Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah. Yeah,
- 35:51Leyla Zmeskal: This place has changed since I've been out here. There's always something driving in. There was another piece of land, like all clear and ready for something else to go up. I'm like, I just drove by here last week.
- 36:04Trisha Smith: I know which one you're talking about.
- 36:06Leyla Zmeskal: And it wasn't. It wasn't there. Nothing was there.
- 36:08Trisha Smith: Right.
- 36:09Leyla Zmeskal: All right.
- 36:09Leyla Zmeskal: Anything else you'd like to share with us about Hawaiian culture? Hawaiian legends and lores?
- 36:16Tiffany DeLeon: I just learned today there's apparently a haunted house kind of like Amityville, Amityville Horror that house in O'ahu. I guess some people had died there and then three ladies had moved in.
- 36:27Tiffany DeLeon: And the cops came because they had a call that you know, there was weird noises coming from the house. And when they got there, one of the ladies was apparently being strangled. But there was nothing strangling her that they could see.
- 36:41Leyla Zmeskal: Whoo, that gave me goosebumps.
- 36:43Tiffany DeLeon: Yeah, there's there's a couple new things. I mean, we went camping over in the seven sacred pools in Hana.
- 36:50Tiffany DeLeon: And I mean, that's that's an experience because it's quiet.
- 36:53Tiffany DeLeon: There's no one out there there's there's not much so you get to hear every little creek and step and you're like, is that night marcher, am I gonna be okay.
- 37:04Trisha Smith: Don't look them in the eye.
- 37:05Tiffany DeLeon: I know, back to the tent lay down.
- 37:09Leyla Zmeskal: Cover your eyes.
- 37:10Trisha Smith: Oh, wow. There are some places where you just like when we went to Thailand, Chloe, or Valerie and I there weren't any like ghost outings. There's a lot of stories about ghosts in Thailand. There's no shortage, but nobody goes to seek them out. Because you don't want that shit, right? Because you don't want to run that show home with you. You don't. They don't. It's not like you're in the states where they're like, ghost tour, Ghost House, you know, haunted house, and they want you to come over there. They're like, Oh, no, no, you don't. Don't do this. Don't do that. Don't go there. Don't look at this. You know, they they take those things much more seriously than we do here in the States.
- 38:03Leyla Zmeskal: That's why your mom tells you.
- 38:05Trisha Smith: Yeah,
- 38:05Leyla Zmeskal: Every place you go you better stop somewhere else and shake it off because you don't want something following you home.
- 38:12Trisha Smith: Right, right. I feel like that's how it is over there. Yeah, good episode. I like.
- 38:17Leyla Zmeskal: Thank you for joining us. Yeah.
- 38:20Tiffany DeLeon: Thanks for finally havinng me.
- 38:21Leyla Zmeskal: Oh, you're welcome.
- 38:23Trisha Smith: Thanks for all the info on your neck of the wood
- 38:27Leyla Zmeskal: Legends and lore.
- 38:29Trisha Smith: Right. And your investigation in St. Augustine.
- 38:29Trisha Smith: , yeah. And, We love St. Augustine.
- 38:33Leyla Zmeskal: I love St.
- 38:33Leyla Zmeskal: Augustine. Yeah. investigatory?
- 38:36Trisha Smith: Exactly. Right.
- 38:40Leyla Zmeskal: Looks like we're getting low on beverages.
- 38:42Trisha Smith: Absolutely. Thank you, Tiffany for being here and let's go get a refill.
- 38:48Leyla Zmeskal: Let's do it.
- 38:49Trisha Smith: Cheers.
