Transcript
- 0:00Well,
- 0:01today we just stared at each other till
- 0:03the start time so we didn't mess it
- 0:05up.
- 0:27From the gym to the screen, yeah,
- 0:29we cover it all.
- 0:30Midday motivation every time you press
- 0:32call.
- 0:32Lunch with the Clydesdales.
- 0:35Cowboy, bring the heat.
- 0:37CrossFit, boobies, music on repeat.
- 0:40Half-hour hustle, yeah,
- 0:42we building that brand.
- 0:43Grab a plate, tune in now,
- 0:45you part of the fam.
- 0:53It's lunchtime.
- 0:58Very nice.
- 0:59What is going on?
- 1:01You just stared at each other.
- 1:03That doesn't sound awkward at all.
- 1:04It's only awkward if you make it awkward,
- 1:06Meredith.
- 1:07Make it weird.
- 1:10Make it weird.
- 1:12That's one of the things I actually try
- 1:13to do, believe it or not.
- 1:15Or not try to, man,
- 1:16I'd say try to do.
- 1:17When we have partner workouts and I'm
- 1:19coaching in the morning,
- 1:21that's usually on Saturdays,
- 1:22I usually tell everybody while we're
- 1:24warming up, I was like,
- 1:26for this synchro movement,
- 1:27make sure you're staring directly at your
- 1:29partner.
- 1:29Make it weird, folks.
- 1:31Make it weird.
- 1:34my first crossfit gym we had such little
- 1:37space and grew so fast that here's the
- 1:45thing right you're pretty tight you're
- 1:47doing like say grace you're doing thirty
- 1:49cleaning jerks for time and you're no more
- 1:52than like three or four feet away from
- 1:53the person right
- 1:57Most people then,
- 1:58you all line up like face to butt,
- 2:02face to butt, face to butt, right?
- 2:05Yeah.
- 2:05That one guy that comes in,
- 2:07turns around and goes face to face.
- 2:10Because he didn't want to be staring at
- 2:11the wall.
- 2:16It's just like a guy going to the
- 2:18urinal.
- 2:21It is protocol that if there is enough
- 2:24space,
- 2:25you leave one urinal gap between you and
- 2:28the other guy.
- 2:30That's a guy rule.
- 2:32Ladies, welcome to our world.
- 2:35Nothing like going into a bathroom,
- 2:38going down to the last urinal.
- 2:40They're all open,
- 2:41and a guy comes in and comes in
- 2:42right next to you.
- 2:43Stands right next to you and wants to
- 2:45talk to you about it.
- 2:46Hey, where are you flying to?
- 2:48Hey, man, don't.
- 2:53Yeah.
- 2:53There's a couple reasons for the gap.
- 2:56Nobody wants a splash.
- 2:59Nobody does.
- 3:01Nobody wants a splash.
- 3:04Mark Phillips is a dead stare kind of
- 3:06guy.
- 3:08Can I just say?
- 3:09Just right here.
- 3:11I want to look lovingly into Mark
- 3:13Phillips' eyes because he is the best.
- 3:18right after we went off the air yesterday
- 3:20like literally a millisecond after we went
- 3:23off the air he gifted five more
- 3:26memberships to the channel he is the best
- 3:30i look lovingly into your eyes mark
- 3:32phillips i'm so glad that you are here
- 3:35right here right there into the eyes i
- 3:40tried to make it awkward i hope it
- 3:41worked absolutely totally worked make it
- 3:46weird folks
- 3:47So, yeah.
- 3:50I don't even remember how we got on
- 3:51urinals and all that, but... Oh, yeah.
- 3:57Yeah, the tightness of the gym.
- 3:58And then trying to clean and jerk facing
- 4:01somebody at like three feet.
- 4:03What it did teach you is to keep
- 4:05the bar close.
- 4:06Keep the bar close, baby.
- 4:07Keep the bar close.
- 4:09Keep the bar close.
- 4:10I think it made me a better clean
- 4:11and jerker.
- 4:12And guide it back to the ground because
- 4:15bumper plates will bounce.
- 4:16Yep.
- 4:17You don't want that.
- 4:20We didn't have much bouncing because we
- 4:22were on turf.
- 4:23Oh.
- 4:24Yeah, it was a weird, wild setup.
- 4:27We were in the back of a volleyball
- 4:28center.
- 4:30And we had like a strip.
- 4:32It literally was this long, narrow strip.
- 4:36It had a garage door on each end.
- 4:37And so when we ran four hundreds,
- 4:39you ran through the gym and then back
- 4:43out the other side.
- 4:44That sounds sketchy.
- 4:47It actually was so much fun, dude.
- 4:50I would imagine it was.
- 4:51Look,
- 4:52we only had the one big roll-up door.
- 4:55And if there's a lot of people in
- 4:56class and you find yourself on the
- 4:57opposite side of the roll-up door,
- 4:58you get to run a four hundred plus
- 5:00every single time to be able to get
- 5:02back to your barbell,
- 5:02whatever that ends up looking like.
- 5:05Because nobody...
- 5:08like runs to the door and then goes
- 5:10well i ran across the room which is
- 5:12like sixty feet long so i can cut
- 5:14this four hundred before i get it no
- 5:16bro you still gotta get to the four
- 5:17hundred mark so yeah see when you make
- 5:20when you make the gym space part of
- 5:22the lap it's just like a game setup
- 5:25everybody's running the same amount of
- 5:26distance because you start at your bar you
- 5:28come back to your bar
- 5:30So what Benort has done from time to
- 5:32time, we have stuff like that,
- 5:33especially on Saturdays,
- 5:34is everybody will put cones up at the
- 5:38back.
- 5:40And if you want to come in,
- 5:41you got to go around the cone first
- 5:42to go back to your spot.
- 5:44Just same thing, same concept.
- 5:46Now everybody's running the same distance.
- 5:49That's only if we're feeling really far.
- 5:52The other thing that was just lovely at
- 5:54this gym was that
- 5:58they didn't want to pay for a rogue
- 6:00pull-up system of any kind.
- 6:03So they had a pull-up bar fabricated.
- 6:06It was way thicker than like a rope
- 6:11or hung it so high.
- 6:13Nobody could jump to it.
- 6:16You had to get boxed out pull-up bar.
- 6:20So if you couldn't have a lot of
- 6:23pull-ups, down, back up on the box,
- 6:25up onto the pull-up bar, a couple more,
- 6:27down, up.
- 6:31It's just extra fitness.
- 6:32That's all it is.
- 6:33It is.
- 6:33It's extra fitness.
- 6:34It's built-in extra fitness.
- 6:36It did affect Fran times.
- 6:37I will say that.
- 6:38I would imagine it would.
- 6:41I would imagine it would.
- 6:43Thick bars is rough, dude.
- 6:46And our gym owner.
- 6:48Oh, sorry.
- 6:51None of us used our thumbs much.
- 6:53So then when we did move to a
- 6:54new facility where we got to purchase our
- 6:56own rigs and stuff,
- 6:59nobody hooked their thumbs.
- 7:02The bar was so thick on the old
- 7:03one,
- 7:04all you could do is rest on the
- 7:05top.
- 7:06Get that monkey grip, that suicide grip,
- 7:09which is not fun, by the way,
- 7:10at all.
- 7:11I do not like it.
- 7:13I do it from time to time.
- 7:18I need to buy some new grips.
- 7:19I keep forgetting to do that.
- 7:22Yeah.
- 7:25I am.
- 7:26I'm like a twelve-year-old kid, dude.
- 7:30I love the Chicago Bears so much.
- 7:32I'm aware.
- 7:33They are playing tonight.
- 7:35They are?
- 7:36I am a wreck.
- 7:38New England Patriots.
- 7:40I'm a wreck.
- 7:42It's throwing off my whole day.
- 7:46They announced the starter.
- 7:51Caleb started last week.
- 7:53Oh, did he?
- 7:54Yeah.
- 7:54I didn't realize he was back.
- 7:56Oh, yeah.
- 7:56Back with a vengeance.
- 7:58Okay, good.
- 8:00Yeah.
- 8:01He killed it last week.
- 8:05But it's him versus Drake May.
- 8:06Two quarterbacks drafted in the same
- 8:08class.
- 8:08Two picks.
- 8:09One was number one.
- 8:10One was number three.
- 8:12There's debate who's better.
- 8:14So it's all this extra stuff.
- 8:19And after tonight,
- 8:21if they can just get the win,
- 8:23we will play again until a week from
- 8:26Monday.
- 8:27Oh, Lord.
- 8:28So that's enough time to get the running
- 8:30back fixed, the linebacker fixed.
- 8:34Montez Sweat will come off suspension.
- 8:36We'll get all that stuff back, hopefully.
- 8:42Anybody with the last name Sweat is...
- 8:45he's automatic comedy in my book.
- 8:47And in fact, his first name is Montez,
- 8:49which always automatically makes me think
- 8:50of Montel,
- 8:52either Jordan or the Montel that would use
- 8:54to have the talk show.
- 8:56Like either one works just fine in my
- 8:57head.
- 8:57It goes sweat.
- 8:59So like now it's key sweat.
- 9:00Now it's Montez sweat who should be an
- 9:02R and B singer as far as I'm
- 9:03concerned.
- 9:04But instead he's a violent fricking
- 9:09suspension.
- 9:10Who, uh,
- 9:11Who I knew was big,
- 9:13but then when I saw him in Green
- 9:14Bay... He's like, oh, snap.
- 9:16Oh, that's a whole different level of big.
- 9:18Yeah.
- 9:25I'm a Cowboys fan.
- 9:27Season already over.
- 9:27Maybe next year.
- 9:28Here's the deal, Mark Phillips.
- 9:30It's not over.
- 9:32They play in the worst division in
- 9:35football.
- 9:36The New York Giants...
- 9:39who have lost Jackson Dart,
- 9:41who have benched Jameis Winston,
- 9:43are now in the lead.
- 9:45The Giants are in first place.
- 9:48That is how bad the division is.
- 9:52Yeah, but they're the Cowboys.
- 9:53Their season was over before they ever
- 9:55started.
- 9:56No, see, this is what they do.
- 9:58They start off horrible.
- 9:59Everybody hates on them.
- 10:01Then they're going to get just good enough
- 10:03to eke their way into the playoffs,
- 10:05give their fans hope,
- 10:07and then just rip it away when they
- 10:08can't win a playoff game again for like
- 10:11the thirtieth year in a row.
- 10:13Which is why I said their season was
- 10:15over before it started because everybody
- 10:16knows that's going to happen.
- 10:18Like, that's not a...
- 10:21It's a self-fulfilling prophecy because it
- 10:23happens every single year.
- 10:25I'll find it hilarious.
- 10:27If Mark Phillips is a true Cowboys fan,
- 10:29he's going to forget about that the
- 10:31season's over because they're going to go
- 10:32on a mini win streak beating bad teams.
- 10:36He's going to think it's all changed.
- 10:38They're going to make the playoffs.
- 10:39He's going to get excited.
- 10:41Maybe there's hope.
- 10:41There's no hope.
- 10:44Yeah.
- 10:44Oh,
- 10:44have his heart ripped out of the ground
- 10:47and stomped, ripped out of his chest,
- 10:49stomped on the ground.
- 10:50on for a while and whatnot.
- 10:52Oh, that's good stuff right there.
- 10:57Just like it's over for Notre Dame.
- 10:59Oh, it's, yeah.
- 11:01You know, if you can't beat the Mormons,
- 11:05can't beat the Mormons on Mormon turf,
- 11:09you can't beat the Mormons in general.
- 11:10I mean, come on, dude.
- 11:14Which,
- 11:15Notre Dame has been historically overrated
- 11:18by
- 11:19year upon year upon year upon year yeah
- 11:21and it's just once again proving uh
- 11:25proving to be correct again who was robbed
- 11:37bro uh notre dame was robbed by the
- 11:40mormons i don't think that's a thing that
- 11:41the mormons do so i don't know if
- 11:43you saw the end of the game but
- 11:45they got the reverse michigan yeah
- 11:48Yeah, so Michigan got an extra second.
- 11:51Notre Dame got a second ticket away.
- 11:53Michigan,
- 11:53the first team to win after full time.
- 11:59The official, both blunders,
- 12:01both blunders by the officiating in
- 12:05opposite directions.
- 12:09But yeah.
- 12:09Now, Barry, you can say they were robbed,
- 12:12but you don't know that they would have
- 12:14actually made
- 12:16anything of that extra second correct
- 12:20right uh just be glad you don't cheer
- 12:25for nebraska
- 12:26That actually wasn't what I was laughing
- 12:28at.
- 12:28I was laughing at Meg.
- 12:28Go ahead and leave that one right there
- 12:33where it's at.
- 12:33Yeah, we're leaving that down there.
- 12:38I didn't know Travis would have time to
- 12:39come into a chat.
- 12:42I think he's putting together six million
- 12:44shirts right now.
- 12:45Packaging them, labeling them.
- 12:49What, what, uh, eleven hundred, Travis?
- 12:51Is that how many they ended up for?
- 12:54I think it was more than that.
- 12:56Eleven or twelve, something like that.
- 12:57It was over a thousand.
- 12:58I know that.
- 12:58I know it was over a thousand for
- 13:00sure.
- 13:01I know, like,
- 13:02I sold thirty Clydesdale shirts,
- 13:04and I wanted to rip my eyes out.
- 13:07Just send a nose out.
- 13:10There you go.
- 13:11Eleven hundred and twenty-three.
- 13:15That's wild.
- 13:16That is awesome.
- 13:17Yeah.
- 13:19That is that, look,
- 13:21say what you want about Andrew Hiller,
- 13:23polarizing.
- 13:24Some people love him.
- 13:25Some people hate him.
- 13:27But not counting the people that signed up
- 13:29for his programming and whatnot.
- 13:30That's just eleven hundred twenty three
- 13:31souls that decided they were going to help
- 13:35that dude out.
- 13:37Yeah.
- 13:38I signed up for his programming.
- 13:40I didn't I did not love the fact
- 13:42that I had to finish with essentially
- 13:44thirty burpees this morning.
- 13:46Twenty devil's press, ten burpees.
- 13:52Yeah.
- 13:54And then right after that,
- 13:55do some plank holds with shoulder touches.
- 13:58Oh, that's part of my warmup, man.
- 14:00Come on now.
- 14:03Yeah.
- 14:03Your warmup is my workout.
- 14:05Shoulder touches.
- 14:08Wednesday,
- 14:09I had him do actually plank toe touches.
- 14:13So reach all the way back,
- 14:13touch toes while holding that plank.
- 14:16Good stuff.
- 14:17Core, strength, agility, coordination,
- 14:20balance, you know,
- 14:22The thirty seven tenants of CrossFit or in
- 14:26the tenants now.
- 14:28Tenants, baby.
- 14:33Oh, I didn't see that.
- 14:35So I watched the video of Heidi and
- 14:39Lydia.
- 14:39I the chief is my favorite workout of
- 14:42all time.
- 14:44It is every time I would see that
- 14:47on the board, I would get giddy.
- 14:48It is probably it is my number one
- 14:50workout.
- 14:51of all time I love it love it
- 14:53love it um I just maybe that's what
- 14:59I need to do to get some energy
- 15:01out before this Bears game tonight go in
- 15:04there just try to destroy yourself in the
- 15:06garage before the before the game I like
- 15:08that yeah but I don't even know I
- 15:12don't think I would up the weight on
- 15:14mine I just the regular chief is fine
- 15:16for me non-competitive athlete
- 15:20What,
- 15:20how much did he up the weight by?
- 15:21I don't know.
- 15:23Cause it was the women's weights on the
- 15:25video I watched.
- 15:25I didn't see the posting.
- 15:27Cause I just do the human track and
- 15:28that wasn't part of my human track.
- 15:32Not even touching the human track seems to
- 15:34be enough.
- 15:34I'm not going to mess with the other
- 15:35one.
- 15:37Yeah.
- 15:37I I'm with Joseph one,
- 15:38thirty-five is fine.
- 15:40It's good.
- 15:42So anyway, it's fine.
- 15:43If you go fast enough, I mean,
- 15:48I don't mind.
- 15:49I tell people all the time, like,
- 15:50would you rather do Fran at ninety five
- 15:51or would you rather do Fran at seventy
- 15:53five?
- 15:53I would rather do it at ninety five.
- 15:55I'm being completely honest with you
- 15:56because I know how fast I'm going to
- 15:57have to go at seventy five.
- 15:59Cindy is body weight and it sucks.
- 16:02Cindy is twenty minutes of movement the
- 16:05entire time.
- 16:09I had plenty enough of that, too.
- 16:11So Super Chief is one fifty five one
- 16:13oh five.
- 16:17Oh.
- 16:20Okay.
- 16:22I am out of that.
- 16:23Yeah, and it was the same after that...
- 16:28Yeah, it was the three-minute rounds,
- 16:31one-minute rest.
- 16:33I like the Chief.
- 16:34The couple times we did it,
- 16:35I enjoyed it.
- 16:35It's fun.
- 16:37It's a good little workout.
- 16:38Yeah, truly, I just love that.
- 16:42Goes up to five in the final two
- 16:44rounds.
- 16:45Yeah, I don't need any part of that.
- 16:50Mark Phillips saying Brandon tries to kill
- 16:53you daily.
- 16:54That is a fact, actively,
- 16:56as a matter of fact.
- 16:58actively we we've talked about this a
- 17:00little bit right like i'm not in a
- 17:02place in my life where i want to
- 17:04be killed daily so i'm doing a competitive
- 17:07track right right and i he has a
- 17:10daily track that's it's comparable but
- 17:14it's not the same you know the the
- 17:17big tagline right now for for us is
- 17:19uh sometimes brutal always effective
- 17:22because like he'll program some that's
- 17:23like bro this is gonna hurt like you
- 17:25just know it will before you ever get
- 17:27started
- 17:28Would you go look at the daily track
- 17:30or the people that are doing the affiliate
- 17:33track stuff?
- 17:34And it's similar to what we're doing,
- 17:36but it's built for a class environment.
- 17:40You can make it hurt,
- 17:42but you can make damn near anything hurt,
- 17:44depending on what it is.
- 17:46What...
- 17:49We talk about this a lot, right?
- 17:51Like you, Carolyn,
- 17:52and Jamie have completely different goals
- 17:54than I do.
- 17:54A little bit.
- 17:56Right.
- 17:57And I think that the wave of programming
- 18:00in our space has gone from we take
- 18:03these competitive tracks like Mayhem,
- 18:06like...
- 18:08stupid guy in Boston.
- 18:11Can you remember his thing?
- 18:12And so stop because he's not doing
- 18:14CrossFit anymore.
- 18:15And I know because we still program it.
- 18:17I know, but that was,
- 18:18that was where my gym went first.
- 18:20But when my owner decided to stop
- 18:22programming and went to comp train and,
- 18:26uh, and I, I just hated it.
- 18:29I hated every bit of it.
- 18:31It took all the fun out of what
- 18:32we were doing.
- 18:34And, uh,
- 18:38When I went to Polaris and then Christy
- 18:41and Patrick were doing their own
- 18:43programming,
- 18:44I started to get some fun back into
- 18:46it and love back into it.
- 18:48Because it was really designed for
- 18:50everybody and make it hard for the
- 18:52competitors.
- 18:53And if you want to do other stuff,
- 18:54you do that on your own.
- 18:55Yeah.
- 18:56Right?
- 18:57Where a lot of affiliate programming has
- 18:59turned into,
- 19:00let's take this competition track and
- 19:03morph it so other people can do it.
- 19:06right or just or just not like that
- 19:08where hiller's human track dude it's like
- 19:12i walked into the gym years ago and
- 19:17i and i absolutely am loving this stuff
- 19:22good deal like i i can't say enough
- 19:27i'm never going to compete at the games
- 19:28i'm never going to compete at semifinals
- 19:30hell i may not ever make quarterfinals
- 19:34yeah well now with that attitude but i
- 19:37just want to be fit and healthy again
- 19:39and i want to have fun doing it
- 19:42are you uh pneumonia free yesterday was
- 19:46rough dude i think so like i think
- 19:48a lot came out last night not to
- 19:51be gross um but last evening was pretty
- 19:56rough and then i woke up this morning
- 19:57feeling much much better
- 20:02But I've been working out through it,
- 20:03right?
- 20:03Like it's walking pneumonia.
- 20:06And the boogie woogie flu.
- 20:07Yeah.
- 20:09Every time I've ever heard somebody say I
- 20:11got the walking pneumonia and my next
- 20:14immediate thought,
- 20:14because lyrics is the boogie woogie flu.
- 20:16And I know it's the rocket pneumonia and
- 20:18the boogie woogie flu for somebody comes
- 20:19into comments and fucking lights me up,
- 20:20but it's just a matter of,
- 20:23it's just immediately where my brain goes.
- 20:25Yeah.
- 20:28Um,
- 20:29Joseph says Sentinel is a complete beast.
- 20:31It is.
- 20:32But what I like about what they do,
- 20:34they have, they have multiple tracks too.
- 20:36I still have Sentinel.
- 20:37I still do some Sentinel.
- 20:38I just, I mix it up.
- 20:40I look at the days,
- 20:42which one do I want to have the
- 20:43most fun with today?
- 20:45Yeah.
- 20:47I look at, and look,
- 20:50what Mark was saying was that, you know,
- 20:52yes,
- 20:53there's some stuff where Brandon does,
- 20:54it feels like he's actively trying to kill
- 20:56us.
- 20:56But there's also shit that I look at
- 20:57and like, I'm doing like this.
- 20:59Like, because it looks,
- 21:00some of the stuff is super fun.
- 21:03Some of the stuff is brutal and still
- 21:05fun because of the mental aspect of trying
- 21:07to challenge myself and, okay,
- 21:09can I do this anywhere near what some
- 21:11of the high level,
- 21:12the Josh Mattis's and the...
- 21:16hannah hardy's and what you know what
- 21:18those guys are doing like we had interval
- 21:20work um was that yesterday i think it
- 21:24was yesterday i haven't done it yet i
- 21:25was at halftime this morning i just
- 21:27snatched and did some accessory work but
- 21:29it was every five minutes like twenty
- 21:32calories on the bike uh twenty snatches at
- 21:40And then your score was your first round.
- 21:44So you had, so he,
- 21:46like it was three rounds.
- 21:47So the idea being, okay,
- 21:50go out and blast the first round and
- 21:51then try to hold on for the next
- 21:53two and see if you can come anywhere
- 21:54near, near close to that.
- 21:56And like handed it in two or two.
- 21:59Josh Mattis did it in one fifty nine,
- 22:02which is bananas to think about.
- 22:04Twenty calories on a bite,
- 22:05twenty snatches and twenty bar fees and
- 22:06burpees in under two minutes.
- 22:09Right.
- 22:10And then you rest up and then go
- 22:11again.
- 22:13That looks like fun to me.
- 22:16It probably doesn't look like a lot of
- 22:17fun to a lot of people.
- 22:18But again, you your goals are different,
- 22:21right?
- 22:22Like you're in a different place.
- 22:25I just went through a stage where my
- 22:28body just started breaking down and in
- 22:32like, and I,
- 22:35I needed to find the love in it
- 22:36again.
- 22:38And it's still CrossFit.
- 22:40Like, it's not like I'm cherry picking.
- 22:43Like I would never pick devil's presses
- 22:45and burpees to do in a workout,
- 22:47but I still did them today because it
- 22:49makes me better.
- 22:51don't generally i don't generally if i
- 22:53write something for myself go you know
- 22:55what i ought to do devil's press that
- 22:58sounds like a fantastic idea not a great
- 23:00movement for me i mean it is a
- 23:02decent movement for me but definitely not
- 23:04something i would just go out and pick
- 23:05on my own right but i also got
- 23:10that we also got it written on the
- 23:11board the mike tyson uh discipline is
- 23:16doing the things that you hate to do
- 23:17but doing them like you love them
- 23:21which sucks, but it's true.
- 23:22Uh,
- 23:25Mark Phillips doesn't care if you cherry
- 23:26pick, just move that day.
- 23:28And that's kind of the attitude I've taken
- 23:29this year ever since like February and
- 23:32getting all the surgeries done and,
- 23:35and getting everything cleared up.
- 23:36That's kind of the way,
- 23:38but there is like a piece of me
- 23:39as a former competitor that likes to add
- 23:41that one challenge piece that maybe I
- 23:44don't love,
- 23:46but that's just how my mind works.
- 23:47And that's okay because,
- 23:50Even with the goals that I have,
- 23:53I'm not training hard every day.
- 23:54Absolutely.
- 23:56I pick one,
- 23:57maybe two days a week where I go,
- 23:59okay, full send.
- 24:02I'm going to make it hurt.
- 24:03But I can't do that every day,
- 24:04especially not at forty nine years old.
- 24:06It's just not a good idea to do
- 24:07that every day.
- 24:08Train hard.
- 24:09Absolutely.
- 24:10But like the full send pieces,
- 24:12I save those.
- 24:13I don't say for special occasions,
- 24:14but like I look and go, OK,
- 24:17here's something I usually try to pick
- 24:19something that I know I can go full
- 24:20send on and pick something that I probably
- 24:22shouldn't go full send on and hit it
- 24:24anyway,
- 24:25because I need to know what it feels
- 24:26like.
- 24:26I need to know what I can push
- 24:28through, what I can't push through.
- 24:30where my limits are,
- 24:31because if I don't know where my limits
- 24:32are,
- 24:33then it's not going to do me a
- 24:34hell of a lot of good whenever I'm
- 24:35trying to find, you know,
- 24:36break through them,
- 24:38trying to get to the games.
- 24:39I mean,
- 24:39I don't know a better way to put
- 24:40that.
- 24:42I'm with Joseph.
- 24:42My full send days are my days off.
- 24:45I kill the rest day, man.
- 24:48I rest like nobody's business.
- 24:53I don't know if you guys saw this.
- 24:54It broke right before we came on.
- 24:56The spin put out that our Rebel Renegade
- 24:58games is not going to be renewed.
- 25:01Oh, okay.
- 25:03But the interesting caveat to that is the
- 25:06reason CrossFit gave for that was they
- 25:09didn't have a strong enough depth of
- 25:10field.
- 25:14So take that first part of the equation.
- 25:19Add that now every semifinal event gets
- 25:22three people to the games.
- 25:27Are they going to now be more selective
- 25:31as to where those locations are to ensure
- 25:34they get a good depth of field at
- 25:37every semifinal?
- 25:39Of all the things I've heard,
- 25:41if that is in fact the truth,
- 25:43that is the most exciting piece of this
- 25:45whole thing for me.
- 25:47That is... Wow.
- 25:53Hey, sorry, the people in your area suck.
- 25:56You don't get to be a semifinal anymore.
- 25:59That's a strong move from CrossFit,
- 26:03if that is in fact the case.
- 26:06That is.
- 26:07And yeah, why wouldn't you?
- 26:09If that's the standard that they're going
- 26:11to uphold,
- 26:13then they're going to have to be a
- 26:15lot more selective about who they send and
- 26:16who they don't send,
- 26:18or not who they send,
- 26:18but who they invite to come in their
- 26:22selection process,
- 26:23because you can't just have...
- 26:27Joe Bob from down the street coming to
- 26:28your competition because if they
- 26:29accidentally mess around and win for
- 26:31whatever reason, judging Spain,
- 26:34looking at you,
- 26:37then you're going to have people,
- 26:38like we were talking about yesterday,
- 26:40that are at the games that don't
- 26:41necessarily need to be at the games.
- 26:44Dude, that's a good move.
- 26:46If you remember,
- 26:47Rebel only got one spot on each side.
- 26:51And I think a team.
- 26:52They got a team, too.
- 26:53Yes.
- 26:55Last year it was Hannah.
- 27:00Why is her last name shot out of
- 27:03my brain like a dart?
- 27:05Been on my show, met her.
- 27:07Hannah Black.
- 27:08Black.
- 27:08Hannah Black and Ben Fowler were the two
- 27:11qualifiers from there.
- 27:14That was cited in Spin's article.
- 27:16I don't know...
- 27:18If they were pointing at those two
- 27:20individuals specifically,
- 27:21I think they did okay at the games.
- 27:24Yeah, Hannah did fine.
- 27:26Ben Fowler's fine.
- 27:27If they would have had to take two
- 27:29and three,
- 27:29there might have been a problem.
- 27:30I think that's what they're looking at.
- 27:32It's not the people that decided to go
- 27:34there and win.
- 27:36It's the people that were already there
- 27:38outside of them.
- 27:40That's a whole different ball of wax right
- 27:43there, right?
- 27:44Because I can hold a competition tomorrow
- 27:47and Jason and freaking Amy show up,
- 27:52but then the rest of the guys are
- 27:54there, just guys from my gym.
- 27:56Well,
- 27:57if I'm taking top three from my
- 27:58competition,
- 27:59then you got two great ones in
- 28:02to that nobody's ever heard of.
- 28:05I mean, yeah.
- 28:06Uh, cows and CrossFit would like to, um,
- 28:08be the devil's advocate and tell you that
- 28:10Joe Bob is actually pretty good.
- 28:11Joe Bob from down the street.
- 28:16So I'm wondering with that announcement,
- 28:22if we're going to get some more, like,
- 28:25like we had the judging issues in Spain
- 28:27and,
- 28:28yeah do they lose their semi-final or at
- 28:35the very least if they don't lose it
- 28:38if they if crossfit's gonna have this like
- 28:41super strong presence there like people
- 28:43from hq just kind of guiding over it
- 28:45you know whoever that ends up being but
- 28:48whether it's who's in charge of judging uh
- 28:53Gosh darn it, I know the man's name.
- 28:55But it's somebody like that there,
- 28:57at the very least, or like, hey, bro,
- 29:01it's been widely reported that judges were
- 29:05cheating in favor of Spanish athletes.
- 29:08We can't have that.
- 29:09You guys are nothing anymore,
- 29:11and we're going to go in a different
- 29:12direction.
- 29:16Yeah, it's hard, Shannon,
- 29:17because Joe Bob actually equals legends.
- 29:19Yeah.
- 29:22Yeah,
- 29:22it gets confusing with all the Joe Bobs
- 29:25around.
- 29:25There's a lot of Joe Bob running around.
- 29:28Just loose in the street.
- 29:34I don't know, dude.
- 29:35I like it.
- 29:37It's a strong move in the right direction,
- 29:39I believe,
- 29:39as far as getting the right people to
- 29:41the games.
- 29:42Or the most qualified people to the games.
- 29:44I'm not saying the right people,
- 29:45but the most qualified people to the
- 29:47games,
- 29:47which I guess would be the right people.
- 29:50I think it'd be interesting to see what
- 29:51happens in Asia, what happens in Spain,
- 29:55what happens in South America.
- 29:58I mean,
- 29:58South America at times could make the
- 30:00argument, but what was it,
- 30:02two years ago they had a Masters athlete
- 30:04represent the women's side?
- 30:07Last year it was Miley Wade and Annika
- 30:09Greer.
- 30:09Last time I checked.
- 30:11Annika Greer is from Tennessee.
- 30:16Annika Greer is from the opposite of South
- 30:21America.
- 30:21Literally in the opposite direction to be
- 30:22able to get to her.
- 30:27I mean, good.
- 30:29Here's the thing.
- 30:30So who replaces them?
- 30:35I don't know.
- 30:37I've said on this show several times that
- 30:41the event directors are in such a bad
- 30:45spot.
- 30:48They get very little help,
- 30:50very little assistance from CrossFit.
- 30:52For then CrossFit to come in and say,
- 30:54you're not good enough.
- 30:56We're taking away your,
- 30:57there has to be something on the other
- 31:00side of that.
- 31:02that's coming in because if not,
- 31:05where are we at?
- 31:06I love your super optimistic take on that,
- 31:08that they would use that kind of logic.
- 31:10I'm not saying it's an optimistic take.
- 31:12I'm not saying it's an optimistic take.
- 31:14It could be a bad thing on the
- 31:15other side.
- 31:16Well, no,
- 31:17just the fact that you think that they
- 31:19have a plan in place is what I'm
- 31:21getting at.
- 31:22To say that you guys are out and
- 31:24these guys are in, like that's a...
- 31:28To think that CrossFit actually has a plan
- 31:31beyond that.
- 31:33Because if they're going by regions still,
- 31:35right?
- 31:37Somebody from the South African region.
- 31:38Well,
- 31:39now there's nobody from the South African
- 31:40region, right?
- 31:41And is there another huge comp down there
- 31:43that could take their place?
- 31:45We have to remember this too.
- 31:46Like last year,
- 31:47NorCal and Legends only got two each.
- 31:50Two each.
- 31:51They're going to get three each.
- 31:52And Legends has already announced they are
- 31:55still happening.
- 31:57I think NorCal is...
- 31:59pretty much announced it too no cows there
- 32:05Europe has to have at least two oh
- 32:08yeah right it'd be silly to not the
- 32:11French throwdown and something else but
- 32:16the the announcement yesterday said all
- 32:19semis will be three places they did um
- 32:30They will expect the Africans to go to
- 32:31Torian or they could go to Europe.
- 32:35I think it would be easier for them
- 32:36to go to Europe than it would be
- 32:37to get to Australia.
- 32:38It depends on what end of the Africa
- 32:41you're on.
- 32:42Africa is a big place.
- 32:43Did you see the rogue piece where they
- 32:46handed the athletes a map of Scotland and
- 32:49asked them to point where Aberdeen was?
- 32:52No, I did not.
- 32:54I need to go look because the only
- 32:56one I saw so far was Danielle Brandon
- 32:58looking at pictures of people with pink
- 33:00hair.
- 33:01The best is that they didn't even know
- 33:02how to orient the map.
- 33:07Which way does this go?
- 33:08Oh, man.
- 33:10That's funny.
- 33:11Carolyn is in it, and she's like,
- 33:13I'm a math teacher.
- 33:14I don't know geography.
- 33:18give me a give me a long division
- 33:20problem don't give me any this is nonsense
- 33:23um that's funny dude no i saw the
- 33:24only one i said the only one i
- 33:25saw and i laughed out loud whenever she
- 33:28said it um because daniel brand's looking
- 33:30at the pictures of everybody with pink
- 33:31hair yeah and at one point she just
- 33:33looks up she goes is this what i
- 33:35looked like yep it's just kind of like
- 33:38oh wait i should have said that out
- 33:39loud and she just kind of keeps going
- 33:41on did you see who she picked as
- 33:44the best look with the pink hair
- 33:46Clearly,
- 33:46it was always going to be Jason Hopper.
- 33:48It was.
- 33:51Although,
- 33:52Houghton didn't look bad with long hair.
- 33:54I'm just saying.
- 33:58So if you need entertainment today,
- 34:01Rogue is absolutely smashing it,
- 34:03as they always do.
- 34:05Yeah.
- 34:06Their social media stuff,
- 34:08they're knocking it out the park.
- 34:09I don't know who they got working on
- 34:12it, but God bless them.
- 34:13They're doing a fantastic job.
- 34:16We don't have a producer today,
- 34:17so I'm trying to pull this up.
- 34:20But there's one that you have to see.
- 34:22I got to get your reaction to.
- 34:24Big fan.
- 34:25Here we go.
- 34:30Have you seen the hairy light foot?
- 34:33No.
- 34:35So they,
- 34:36instead of the itty bitty mic that they
- 34:38asked him the questions,
- 34:40they give him a giant mic.
- 34:46Which words or phrases do you most ever
- 34:48use?
- 34:50Really, really cool.
- 34:56Imagine backing out like a sweet little
- 34:59riff or being able to sing.
- 35:01Just grab the mic and just be able
- 35:03to just pop it out.
- 35:05I like this game.
- 35:07Chase someone.
- 35:10With a mustache like mine,
- 35:11I'm probably chasing someone.
- 35:12What movie could you quote from start to
- 35:14finish?
- 35:15Oh, Hot Fuzz.
- 35:19They are absolutely killing it.
- 35:23Dude, that is outstanding.
- 35:25That is outstanding.
- 35:26The way he struggles with that big ass
- 35:29microphone.
- 35:29It's just like trying to figure out how
- 35:31I'm going to hold this thing.
- 35:32How do I hold it and open the...
- 35:34Oh, that's good stuff.
- 35:40Yeah,
- 35:41that'll be my assignment for later this
- 35:42afternoon.
- 35:43They have just tons and tons of footage.
- 35:49Emily Rolfe posted a thing that it was
- 35:52Kyle taking a video of her playing pool.
- 35:55and her like completely missing the ball
- 35:56and you hear kyle go you want me
- 35:58to delete that one too it's fantastic oh
- 36:09they're so good they're so good um i
- 36:12can't wait for tomorrow uh
- 36:16We'll be on tomorrow.
- 36:17We'll be talking about this.
- 36:18Don't forget.
- 36:19Great, great coverage.
- 36:21You can,
- 36:21you can actually go to the robe, robe,
- 36:24the robe, the robe, the robe, the rogue,
- 36:29the rogue invitational website.
- 36:31Don't go to the rogue invitational
- 36:32website.
- 36:33That's not, it's probably going to be,
- 36:34you're probably going to need safe search
- 36:37or no one for that.
- 36:42The Rogue Invitational website.
- 36:44You can watch the stream on there live.
- 36:47And if you do it there,
- 36:49you can pick your camera.
- 36:52Any camera.
- 36:53Pick a camera.
- 36:54Any camera.
- 36:56I would love to know how much they
- 36:57spend on that.
- 36:58I really, really would.
- 36:59I know they said,
- 37:00Katie said a couple times,
- 37:01they take a loss on it every single
- 37:02year,
- 37:03but they don't really care because they
- 37:05make a bazillion dollars the rest of the
- 37:07year.
- 37:07But I would love to know how much
- 37:08money they spend on just the broadcast,
- 37:11not the whole thing.
- 37:13So they partner with CBS.
- 37:14Mm-hmm.
- 37:16That has to help.
- 37:18I'm sure.
- 37:19Right.
- 37:20CBS probably has those graphics already
- 37:24At the ready,
- 37:26I'm sure that because they use that
- 37:28content on their CBS sports channels,
- 37:31they pay Rogue for some of that.
- 37:33I'm telling you, dude,
- 37:34I was at the bowling alley one day
- 37:35last year.
- 37:37We were bowling as a family,
- 37:38and on one of the TVs,
- 37:39all of a sudden,
- 37:40I look up and I go,
- 37:41that's the Rogue Invitational.
- 37:43And it wouldn't show an entire heat,
- 37:45but they'd show the strongman doing some
- 37:47stuff,
- 37:47and then they'd show the crossfitter doing
- 37:48some stuff.
- 37:49And then they'd go to commercial,
- 37:50and they'd come back and do it again.
- 37:51It's awesome.
- 37:53Yeah, for those who want to know,
- 37:54the robe invitational is all about the
- 37:56pockets for your tacos and jerky.
- 38:01Women get excited because they got
- 38:03pockets.
- 38:04Women love pockets.
- 38:06Pockets on stuff.
- 38:09That's fantastic.
- 38:11I don't think I've ever worn a robe
- 38:13in my life.
- 38:18I've owned a couple of robes,
- 38:19but I don't think I've ever actually used
- 38:21them.
- 38:23Like people got me one like for Christmas
- 38:25or something one year, like, you know,
- 38:27grandparent present or something along
- 38:28those lines.
- 38:29But yeah, to actually have no, I don't,
- 38:31what am I going to need it?
- 38:32Like I got a towel.
- 38:33What do I need a robe for?
- 38:38Oh,
- 38:38when you said all I can picture is
- 38:40Cuba Gooding and Jerry Maguire going,
- 38:42I just air dry, baby.
- 38:43Just air dry, baby.
- 38:46See, you want a towel?
- 38:47Nah, just air dry.
- 38:51It's all about the Kwan, man.
- 38:54Help me help you.
- 38:57God, that's such a good line.
- 39:01Oh, God.
- 39:04Swimmer, but never wore a robe.
- 39:05I didn't.
- 39:06I wore sweats.
- 39:07And he air dried.
- 39:13Yeah.
- 39:15Does a hospital gown count?
- 39:17I have worn those.
- 39:18I have worn, yep.
- 39:19I've worn a hospital gown before.
- 39:20It's been a while, but.
- 39:23We have a medical professional in the
- 39:25chat.
- 39:26We do.
- 39:26She's right there.
- 39:27Who the hell designed a hospital gown?
- 39:31Who felt it appropriate to leave the whole
- 39:34back open?
- 39:37What we're going to do is we're going
- 39:38to take what would basically be a regular
- 39:40road, put it on backwards,
- 39:44and then give you like three little areas
- 39:46to maybe tie it in the back if
- 39:47you can figure out how to do it
- 39:48behind your back.
- 39:50You're welcome.
- 39:53Like you can't give you these strings that
- 39:55you're supposed to tie.
- 39:57Last time I checked,
- 39:58I was not Harry Houdini.
- 40:00I could not reach back there to tie.
- 40:04No.
- 40:06She's not responsible for designing
- 40:08hospital gowns.
- 40:12I get the easy access.
- 40:14But can't we come up with a better
- 40:16fastening agent than having to tie a bow
- 40:19behind my back?
- 40:21Right.
- 40:22My arms don't bend that way,
- 40:23and I am fairly mobile.
- 40:27Oh, good night.
- 40:31What do I take the trash out in?
- 40:34My clothes.
- 40:36Shorts, generally speaking.
- 40:39Well, I live in the north.
- 40:40It might be sweats.
- 40:44It's not even a thirty-second walk to the
- 40:46end of my driveway, so...
- 40:49Travis just wears the hospital gown
- 40:52backwards.
- 40:53Not my problem.
- 40:54Not my problem.
- 40:55Sorry.
- 40:55Figure it out, boys.
- 40:56Whatever y'all want to do,
- 40:57we're going to go from here.
- 40:59I've tried that, Travis,
- 41:00but it gets a bit drafty.
- 41:02It can be.
- 41:03I mean,
- 41:04it's drafty either way you wear it,
- 41:05if I'm being honest.
- 41:06I've never been in a hospital where I
- 41:07was like, this is nice and warm.
- 41:09This whole place seems really toasty and
- 41:12cozy.
- 41:13Oh, good Lord.
- 41:15Scott, are you a Sixers fan?
- 41:17Barry, I've always been a Sixers fan.
- 41:20Scott's sports allegiances are all over
- 41:23the map, dude.
- 41:24It's kind of wild.
- 41:26All my sports allegiances are in
- 41:27Pennsylvania other than NFL football.
- 41:32Most of them are Pittsburgh.
- 41:34Pittsburgh doesn't have an NBA team.
- 41:36I like Dr. J.
- 41:37I like Charles Barkley when I was a
- 41:39kid.
- 41:40They were my Pennsylvania team.
- 41:42Throwing it back.
- 41:43I wonder how many people remember that
- 41:44that's where Barkley actually started was
- 41:46the Sixers.
- 41:47Like, I do.
- 41:48Yeah,
- 41:48I remember the days of him throwing men
- 41:50out the pane glass window of a bar.
- 41:55Good stuff right there.
- 41:58Oh, Charles.
- 41:59You got to air dry.
- 42:01absolutely not the eagles man not the
- 42:03eagles man i just i just don't like
- 42:07the eagles man no my my grew up
- 42:13in a stealer household
- 42:15I got tired of everybody talking about the
- 42:17Steelers.
- 42:18I loved Walter Payton.
- 42:20I started following the Bears.
- 42:21It was like three years later,
- 42:22they win the Super Bowl.
- 42:24Little did I know that that was the
- 42:26peak of my fandom.
- 42:30And from nineteen eighty six on,
- 42:33it was going to be a rough go.
- 42:34We need a clip of Rose Old Rose
- 42:40from Titanic going.
- 42:41It's been eighty four years.
- 42:47My father used to send me a clip
- 42:50of that.
- 42:53But Back to the Future must be my
- 42:54favorite movie because they're always
- 42:56going back to nineteen eighty five.
- 42:58Yep.
- 42:58There you go.
- 42:59That's Bears Bears fans right there.
- 43:02Back in eighty five,
- 43:03we had Refrigerated Perry on the Super
- 43:05Bowl.
- 43:07Sang a song about it.
- 43:11I got to tell you, man,
- 43:13I was watching a video the other day
- 43:14of Jim McMahon talking about Mike Ditka.
- 43:18Oh, Lord.
- 43:18And because Mike had just passed and
- 43:21everybody was doing the thing.
- 43:23And he was on there with Jimbo Covert,
- 43:25who was the left tackle for the Bears
- 43:27in that era.
- 43:28And he said the funniest story he ever
- 43:30saw was McMahon had hurt his hand,
- 43:32broke his hand.
- 43:34It was his non-throwing hand.
- 43:36And Ditka really needed him to play.
- 43:40And McMahon is trying to pull his pants
- 43:43up,
- 43:44but he can't because of the broken hand.
- 43:46And Ditka comes up behind him and jerks
- 43:49on the pants and pulls them up for
- 43:51him.
- 43:53And McMahon's like, I was like,
- 43:55is Mike going to do a reach around?
- 43:58What is happening right now?
- 44:00And Jimbo goes, we all are dying.
- 44:02And then Dick tucked his shirt in.
- 44:04Yeah, here, let me help you.
- 44:07Let me help you.
- 44:09I need you out on that field.
- 44:13That's a full-service coach right there.
- 44:15That's what you call a player's coach.
- 44:18Yeah.
- 44:25That's been the best.
- 44:26I mean,
- 44:27I don't want Mike Ditka to die,
- 44:28but the best part about it is everybody
- 44:31telling the stories from that era.
- 44:33Because that team was just a slew of
- 44:36characters.
- 44:39If it was today,
- 44:39they'd have their own reality show.
- 44:41I'm sure.
- 44:42Well, to be fair,
- 44:44they all have their own reality shows
- 44:45nowadays.
- 44:48Man, I need to get a coach.
- 44:50Huh?
- 44:52You can't have Mike Dickey.
- 44:55He's gone.
- 44:56Sorry.
- 45:00I don't really have much else, man.
- 45:02I did book a guest.
- 45:05Oh.
- 45:06Should I guess who it is?
- 45:07I already told you who it was.
- 45:09I know.
- 45:10I was trying to play to the crowd
- 45:12there.
- 45:13So I reached out to Michael Shoemaker.
- 45:17Micah Shoemaker.
- 45:19Micah Shoemaker.
- 45:20I can't talk today.
- 45:22What is going on?
- 45:23Sorry, Micah.
- 45:24We know your name.
- 45:26Micah Shoemaker,
- 45:28after yesterday's announcement,
- 45:31I told him, hey,
- 45:32I have all these options for you.
- 45:34I know you can't release all details right
- 45:37now about the Masters CrossFit Games,
- 45:39but when and what show do you want
- 45:42to be on to come on and do
- 45:43that?
- 45:44He said,
- 45:45let's do the Sunday night show on November
- 45:47first.
- 45:48Bam.
- 45:49That is one week from Sunday, folks.
- 45:52So...
- 45:54We'll have Micah Shoemaker on the show
- 45:57Sunday,
- 45:58November first on the Sunday Night
- 46:00CrossFit Talk.
- 46:02It will be an open live.
- 46:04So if you guys have questions,
- 46:06I know we have a lot of masters
- 46:08in the chat.
- 46:11Make sure you are on that show.
- 46:13I'll be tuned in.
- 46:14I might even just come log in and
- 46:15just be in the background,
- 46:16me and Vicky just producing together so I
- 46:19can make sure that I'm here to be
- 46:21able to hear it because I want to
- 46:22hear what else he's got to say.
- 46:24I listened to or watched his interview
- 46:26with Grubb,
- 46:28which that's a little bit of home cooking
- 46:30right there because Grubb also lives in
- 46:31Birmingham,
- 46:32so he just probably called him or went
- 46:34over and knocked on his door or whatever.
- 46:36It was pretty good.
- 46:38I'm not quite finished with it yet.
- 46:39I got like five minutes or so left.
- 46:42Grubb didn't hold back.
- 46:43He asked all the questions that people
- 46:45actually wanted to answer.
- 46:47Micah answered some of them,
- 46:48didn't answer some other ones,
- 46:50which was to be expected, right?
- 46:51It'd be like if he was asking Dave
- 46:53about the games, like, hey, brother,
- 46:54it's like stuff I'm not going to tell
- 46:55you.
- 46:56So overall, it seemed pretty positive.
- 46:59So I am curious and more curious to
- 47:02see what he's going to say whenever we
- 47:03get him on next week.
- 47:05Love Jason Grubb,
- 47:06always have great conversations with him
- 47:08when I talk to him.
- 47:10But I don't feel like he represents all
- 47:12of the masters because he is in a
- 47:14place where he is capitalized on us and
- 47:17kudos to him for doing so.
- 47:19Oh, absolutely.
- 47:20It is very rare that you can take
- 47:22a master's career and capitalize on it
- 47:24like he has.
- 47:26Yes.
- 47:26But that has put him in a position
- 47:28where I'm not sure he speaks for all
- 47:31masters athletes.
- 47:32And that's why I wanted to have Michael
- 47:34on here.
- 47:35We'll have Jamie.
- 47:36We'll have Carolyn.
- 47:38We'll have the chat peppering with
- 47:41questions.
- 47:42Get everything out there on the stuff that
- 47:44you guys want to know.
- 47:46And I've already approached the subject
- 47:49about wanting to do something season-wide
- 47:52to cover the Masters season next year.
- 47:56All the way and through the games.
- 47:57Love it.
- 47:59Love it.
- 48:03Oh, look at Joseph Ramirez.
- 48:06In-person semifinal or bust, baby.
- 48:08There you go.
- 48:12Do you think MFC will be an in-person
- 48:13master semi?
- 48:14I do, Kate.
- 48:17But I have no information on that.
- 48:19So please don't take that as a definitive.
- 48:23I'm just doing the math of where it's
- 48:25located in the season.
- 48:27Right.
- 48:27I must say,
- 48:27just judging by where it's at in the
- 48:30season alone,
- 48:32it would seem to be pretty silly if
- 48:34it wouldn't be.
- 48:35And them canceling last year to change
- 48:37that to that.
- 48:39Yeah.
- 48:39Specifically to believe.
- 48:42And I hope it is because I can
- 48:44drive there in two and a half hours.
- 48:46And my own issues with them from last
- 48:49year aside, the one year I actually went,
- 48:51they do put on a good show.
- 48:54do put on a good event they do
- 48:55put on a good show when at the
- 48:56year i was there i had a blast
- 48:59um i had an uh absolutely a good
- 49:00time seemed to be pretty well programmed
- 49:03and whatnot we got to do some stuff
- 49:05like his first time ever swam in
- 49:06competition before i did not do well but
- 49:09the first time i ever swam um and
- 49:13just for them to even think of doing
- 49:14stuff like that for masters you know even
- 49:16then which is three years ago was
- 49:19outstanding so
- 49:21good on them if that is in fact
- 49:23what they are doing and all signs seem
- 49:25to be pointing to that i am hoping
- 49:27we get some more announcements about stuff
- 49:29like that soon like that would be nice
- 49:32for us masters athletes who are bubble
- 49:35athletes looking to make the games looking
- 49:36to make semifinals or whatnot to be able
- 49:38to start planning out our seasons about
- 49:40what we want to do like the faster
- 49:42that information gets out the easier it is
- 49:44on everybody else um
- 49:50Shayna says, Grubb does not represent me.
- 49:53He is not representing me for sure.
- 49:54He is now a monopoly.
- 49:57Right.
- 49:58I hear what you're saying,
- 50:00but good on him to take advantage of
- 50:03that and being able to build a business
- 50:06on what he has done.
- 50:08But I agree with you wholeheartedly
- 50:11because of that,
- 50:12he does not represent the interests of all
- 50:15Masters athletes.
- 50:18Travis might have to look at a vendor
- 50:20spot at MFC.
- 50:22That's where I met Travis.
- 50:25One of the best dudes in the business,
- 50:26man.
- 50:27Love that dude.
- 50:29Peter says Grubb does carry himself well.
- 50:31Surprised he's not pushed more by
- 50:32CrossFit.
- 50:33Peter,
- 50:34I don't know if you've noticed this,
- 50:35but CrossFit doesn't push anybody.
- 50:39Bro,
- 50:40how much more do y'all want him to...
- 50:41When they talk about...
- 50:42When they mention Mazars,
- 50:43he's the only person they talk about.
- 50:45So, like, I love you, Pete,
- 50:46but come on, dude.
- 50:49They don't push Amy Kringle.
- 50:50They don't push James... Well,
- 50:52a little bit of James Sprague.
- 50:53They don't push Spider-Man.
- 50:55They don't... They don't push Les Laton.
- 50:58They don't push anybody.
- 51:06They really don't.
- 51:07And I...
- 51:10I'm not going to be the dead horse
- 51:12that is Amy Kringle,
- 51:13but possibly the most marketable person
- 51:17we've had win the games in the last
- 51:19ten years and nothing.
- 51:22And when you do push her and you
- 51:24clip a reel and all you show is
- 51:27her neck.
- 51:35I don't know who's making the reel and
- 51:37what neck fetish they have.
- 51:39I could tell you it's not.
- 51:40I could tell you who it's not.
- 51:44I saw that.
- 51:45I was like, what in the hell?
- 51:48Yeah.
- 51:51Ah, come on.
- 51:56They have apps that make reels for you
- 51:58that don't look at your neck.
- 52:00Right.
- 52:03Or even if you're using AI to make
- 52:05one, you'd be like,
- 52:05don't focus on the neck.
- 52:08You can be specific if you need to.
- 52:11Joseph says it is a strong neck.
- 52:14It sure is.
- 52:15It is a strong neck.
- 52:18I'm not pushing Amy as wild.
- 52:19She's insanely fit and stunning.
- 52:21Amen, brother.
- 52:23That's preacher choir business right
- 52:25there.
- 52:27And she has a personality.
- 52:29She's not a rock.
- 52:31She's not a pretty rock that does cool
- 52:33stuff.
- 52:35You can get a conversation out of her.
- 52:37According to Scott, she's a close talker.
- 52:43She's one of my favorite interviews that
- 52:44I've ever done in person.
- 52:46She was so... She was so jovial, so...
- 52:52I don't even know how to...
- 52:53She just was bubbly and...
- 52:56didn't seem to mind at all when i
- 52:58was asking her questions in the warm-up
- 53:00area right i picked the right spot to
- 53:03do it i didn't do it like before
- 53:05an event i did it after an event
- 53:06and she had just i think come close
- 53:09to winning but you know you just got
- 53:12to pick your spots yeah well as it
- 53:16turns out you actually put thought into
- 53:17that kind of stuff whenever you do in
- 53:20your interviews it's a wild concept yeah
- 53:23for some people to grab but whatever
- 53:31she didn't she just win the games too
- 53:35did she maybe I think I don't wow
- 53:40did she that's weird here's the thing
- 53:52Wayne
- 53:53Is there anyone else besides Grubb that
- 53:55utilizes self-promotion to its fullest in
- 53:57the master space?
- 53:59I don't think.
- 54:05Here's my thing.
- 54:06There are so many good stories in the
- 54:08master's CrossFit space.
- 54:09All you have to do is peek a
- 54:11little bit.
- 54:14Pull back the curtain.
- 54:14What baffles my mind completely is in
- 54:16twenty twenty five,
- 54:17Carolyn Prevost made the elite CrossFit
- 54:20Games and competed at the Masters CrossFit
- 54:23Games.
- 54:24And we're the only people that noticed how
- 54:28that story didn't get pushed.
- 54:32People should still be talking about that.
- 54:35And I know I have a bias towards
- 54:36Carolyn.
- 54:37It doesn't matter, though,
- 54:39even if you didn't.
- 54:40That is an insane story.
- 54:43Like, she's at Rogue.
- 54:45People should be saying, oh,
- 54:46and here's Carolyn Prevost,
- 54:48who last year competed at the Masters
- 54:51Games and at the actual games in the
- 54:54same year.
- 54:56Like, that should be a thing, dude.
- 54:57That should be a tagline for her every
- 54:59time somebody interviews her and every
- 55:00time somebody talks about her because that
- 55:02is an insane stat to have.
- 55:04How many other people have done that?
- 55:06Oh, let me guess.
- 55:07None.
- 55:09That many.
- 55:11There's actually been one.
- 55:12Who?
- 55:14i don't like to mention her name because
- 55:16uh i think she did it by cheating
- 55:19oh i know what you're talking about and
- 55:21she did she just hasn't been caught yet
- 55:27yeah that's fair that's she came out of
- 55:30that south american yes yes she did
- 55:33factory of stuff skin skin looks like
- 55:36brown leather um well aware who are we
- 55:38talking about moving right along
- 55:45Anyway,
- 55:46imagine if Carolyn didn't have to teach if
- 55:48she had enough sponsorships.
- 55:51That's an interesting question that I've
- 55:53actually posed to her, Seema.
- 55:56I think it's about the balance in her
- 55:58life for her.
- 56:00I think if she didn't have teaching as
- 56:03part of her day,
- 56:04she would go stir crazy.
- 56:07And it would actually make her,
- 56:09I think even in her own mind,
- 56:10it would make her a worse athlete.
- 56:14Now, don't get me wrong.
- 56:15She'd probably want to try.
- 56:16Like, hey, let's give it a whirl.
- 56:18Maybe I don't have to go to work
- 56:19today.
- 56:19Right.
- 56:21But we've actually had that conversation.
- 56:24And I think it is about the balance
- 56:27in her day.
- 56:28You know,
- 56:28Brent Fikowski talked about it a lot when
- 56:30he was an accountant.
- 56:33Like,
- 56:33he had to prioritize what he did in
- 56:35training.
- 56:37Get in, get out, get done.
- 56:39When you have all day,
- 56:40then you just start kind of like...
- 56:42But moping around, doing this, doing that.
- 56:45Or opposite of that,
- 56:47you try to do all the things.
- 56:50And look at it like, oh,
- 56:50I got to get all this stuff.
- 56:51I got to get all this stuff.
- 56:52I got to get all this stuff.
- 56:53You train for six hours straight,
- 56:54seven hours straight,
- 56:55and something like that.
- 56:55And some people can hold up with it.
- 56:58Some people don't.
- 57:00And it's a real easy way to burn
- 57:01out.
- 57:02So some people need that intentional break
- 57:07like that.
- 57:10Last thing I just want to bring up
- 57:11quickly,
- 57:11I was watching Hiller and Friend that they
- 57:15did yesterday about Rogue.
- 57:19And they brought up this point about how
- 57:21not backfilling the twentieth position for
- 57:23the men.
- 57:25And an interesting conversation came up
- 57:27about,
- 57:29is it so prestigious to be in that
- 57:31twenty that if you can't find the right
- 57:34person, it's better just to leave it open?
- 57:37Because it means something to get that
- 57:39invite and just to invite someone because
- 57:42they can be there.
- 57:44Shouldn't be enough to earn that prestige.
- 57:53Yeah, I would agree to that.
- 57:56People work their ass off to get the
- 57:58road.
- 57:59Like it's a big deal.
- 58:01Carolyn's a perfect example she is pumped
- 58:04like was super like over the moon excited
- 58:07to be able to get there and she
- 58:09earned her way there and she earned her
- 58:11way there right so if oh somebody can't
- 58:13make it well we'll just invite the next
- 58:16person on down the line there's no next
- 58:17person down the line like it's called the
- 58:19invitational for a reason what prompted
- 58:22the conversation is you know Jack Farlow's
- 58:24probably there because Emma's there you
- 58:26could just invite him over yeah
- 58:35Seem is asking who's next in the
- 58:36qualifier.
- 58:37Lito says Reggie Faso was next in line
- 58:39from the queue and he only lives a
- 58:41few hours away.
- 58:42So you could argue he was the perfect
- 58:44person and earned his way there.
- 58:48That is possible.
- 58:48I just thought it was an interesting
- 58:50concept to bring up and talk about.
- 58:51Yeah.
- 58:53Because we've already had a lot of
- 58:55backfills because of injury.
- 58:58Right.
- 59:01Also, I think, and this is just me,
- 59:04but if it's called the invitational,
- 59:06right?
- 59:07And yes, there is a qualifier for it,
- 59:08but they only take so many people in
- 59:09the qualifier.
- 59:10Everybody else has to earn their points
- 59:11all year to be able to make it
- 59:14there.
- 59:14So if you're going to call it an
- 59:16invitational,
- 59:16then they can invite whoever they want.
- 59:20at the same time,
- 59:21once the invites go out,
- 59:22I think those are the invites.
- 59:23Like, it's not like, Oh,
- 59:24well the next person can't come.
- 59:25Okay.
- 59:25Well that's tough shit.
- 59:27Like you didn't make it.
- 59:28You didn't make it.
- 59:29You got in,
- 59:29these are the invitations and the
- 59:30invitations are where they are.
- 59:32And if you are one person short on
- 59:33the twenty person field for the,
- 59:35for the guys, then that's just how the,
- 59:38how, how it works out.
- 59:39Do better next time.
- 59:42Yeah.
- 59:43I don't,
- 59:44and none of us know what happens behind
- 59:45the scenes.
- 59:46No, not at all.
- 59:47Um,
- 59:49And we also said we think Roman withdrew
- 59:52way too late putting Rogue in a pickle.
- 1:00:00Yeah.
- 1:00:01Speaking of pickles,
- 1:00:01my addiction is like off the chain.
- 1:00:03I said that yesterday.
- 1:00:06I am now like taking the empty pickle
- 1:00:08jar and putting different vegetables into
- 1:00:11it when it's done.
- 1:00:14closing it back up,
- 1:00:14putting it in the fridge.
- 1:00:16So I have more pickling happening as I'm
- 1:00:19eating the pickles.
- 1:00:23There's somebody you can see about that,
- 1:00:25or I don't know, man.
- 1:00:27Like, what can we,
- 1:00:29what can we carrots pickling?
- 1:00:30I got cauliflower pickling.
- 1:00:33I got green beans pickling.
- 1:00:37pickle green beans are really really good
- 1:00:40pickle carrots there's a mexican
- 1:00:41restaurant in van rouge um that that was
- 1:00:43one of the things they would bring you
- 1:00:45like you know everybody sits chips and
- 1:00:46salsa down but they would bring you these
- 1:00:49marinated basically pickled carrots with
- 1:00:52some peppers and uh and they're so good
- 1:00:55yep so good um
- 1:00:59If you have not,
- 1:01:00so Meg says she has spicy pickles in
- 1:01:02the fridge right now.
- 1:01:03I have so many pickles in my fridge
- 1:01:05right now.
- 1:01:05I'm running out of space for food.
- 1:01:09But have you ever tried a pickled
- 1:01:11jalapeno?
- 1:01:12Yeah.
- 1:01:14Like a dill pickled jalapeno?
- 1:01:17Oh, no.
- 1:01:18I can't say I had that.
- 1:01:21But, I mean, I definitely had.
- 1:01:22Slapped them on a sandwich?
- 1:01:24Oh, I bet.
- 1:01:26A little spicy, a little dill?
- 1:01:28Yep.
- 1:01:30I'm mad at that.
- 1:01:32I actually made my own muffalada this
- 1:01:33week.
- 1:01:34No, you didn't.
- 1:01:36Shut up, dude.
- 1:01:39They came to me outside the state of
- 1:01:41Louisiana.
- 1:01:45There's only one set of olive spread you
- 1:01:48can get.
- 1:01:49If the bread's not from one of three
- 1:01:52bakeries in New Orleans,
- 1:01:54then you're not making a muffalata.
- 1:01:55Sorry.
- 1:01:57I don't make the rules.
- 1:01:58Those just are the rules.
- 1:01:59You could call it a muffalata,
- 1:02:01but it's not a muffalata.
- 1:02:05I call it a muffalata.
- 1:02:07I've had a muffalata in New Orleans,
- 1:02:09and it was freaking awesome.
- 1:02:11Was it from Central Grocery?
- 1:02:13I have no idea, dude.
- 1:02:15I got it at a restaurant down there.
- 1:02:19I haven't been back in a while.
- 1:02:24I don't like the butter chip pickles.
- 1:02:26Bread and butter?
- 1:02:28They're okay.
- 1:02:29I'd rather have dill.
- 1:02:31I like bread and butter on a sandwich.
- 1:02:34Bread and butter with like on a hot
- 1:02:39grilled ham and cheese sandwich, bro.
- 1:02:42Choice.
- 1:02:43This is quite the craving,
- 1:02:44re-pickling other veggies.
- 1:02:47I've done that before.
- 1:02:49I'm laughing at you,
- 1:02:50but I've one hundred percent done that
- 1:02:51before.
- 1:02:51Like get just a really good jar of
- 1:02:56people.
- 1:02:56You're like, man, that brine was really,
- 1:02:57really good.
- 1:02:58Brine's still sitting there.
- 1:02:59It's perfectly fine.
- 1:02:59You just throw some stuff in there and
- 1:03:01call it good.
- 1:03:03Meg says dill all the way.
- 1:03:04Wouldn't wait to get to the editing room
- 1:03:06to jazz me up.
- 1:03:08I'm already jazzy.
