Transcript
- 0:18Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Fandemonium, the pop culture game show
- 0:22Speaker 1: that shines a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your
- 0:25Speaker 1: games master and that bitch from high school Matt Watson.
- 0:29Speaker 1: That's actually true for some people who are listening to this.
- 0:32Speaker 1: But a games master needs games, and games need players,
- 0:35Speaker 1: So please welcome our first team. She is our evergreen panelist,
- 0:39Speaker 1: a podcaster and comedian who works in STEM, which today
- 0:43Speaker 1: stands for Seriously Troy, Everything's a musical. It's Audre Stevenson. Hello,
- 0:50Speaker 1: and she is a comedian, author, and self proclaimed TV junkie.
- 0:54Speaker 1: We now prefer to say TV person who struggles with addiction.
- 0:58Speaker 1: It's Casey zip Hi. Hello, Welcome, Odra, Welcome Casey. Thanks
- 1:03Speaker 1: for joining us here today for this Disney Channel episode.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yeah, good to be here. Yeah, excellent stuff. How you doing, Auldra,
- 1:12Speaker 2: I'm having a good time. Got off work early. Hopefully
- 1:15Speaker 2: my boss doesn't listen to this because he didn't let me.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I just did it.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Nice. Good to know already getting in trouble Classic Disney Channel.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Oh yes, stuff, Shenanigan and Casey, how are you doing.
- 1:26Speaker 3: I'm doing great. I'm a stress but feeling good and
- 1:32Speaker 3: brushed up on my childhood before this, So that'll be
- 1:37Speaker 3: it'll be fun to dive back into nice.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Okay, so Disney Channel was a huge part of your childhood.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Oh oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 1:44Speaker 1: What's like the earliest shows you remember watching.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Well, I will say this, we my parents were not
- 1:51Speaker 3: like super rich growing up, and so we did not
- 1:55Speaker 3: have Disney Channel for the longest time. It was like
- 1:58Speaker 3: a Saturday morning only thing. And when we moved, we
- 2:02Speaker 3: moved from Virginia to Georgia, the big brat because I
- 2:05Speaker 3: was devastated. They were like, if we move, we will
- 2:08Speaker 3: get Disney Channel.
- 2:11Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 2:12Speaker 3: And so I remember being like, Wow, I've made it
- 2:16Speaker 3: in life. I get to watch Disney Channel every day
- 2:19Speaker 3: of the week now, like this is a dream come true.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I'm living my best life. But Lizzie Maguire was definitely
- 2:26Speaker 3: my my earliest like addiction.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Nice, that's a good that's a good pick. That's a
- 2:32Speaker 1: good choice. I think we're in similar eras. And you
- 2:35Speaker 1: mentioned it is still part of your life to this day.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Still A yes, I've.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Actually I've gotten my toddler into weirdly Wizards of Waverley Place.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Nice.
- 2:47Speaker 3: She's like, she's only three, but she somehow really enjoys it.
- 2:51Speaker 3: And the Funky Junkie Hat song. We sing that every day.
- 2:55Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys are familiar, I can
- 2:56Speaker 3: sing it.
- 2:57Speaker 4: If you want to sing out, please do Yeah I'm
- 2:59Speaker 4: not famili.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, ready, what's that?
- 3:03Speaker 2: Ah hat?
- 3:03Speaker 3: Crazy funky junkie hat overslept harold sightly trying to look
- 3:07Speaker 3: like Hi a nightly. We've been there, We've done that.
- 3:10Speaker 3: We see right through your funky hat.
- 3:12Speaker 2: That's fine, Selena Gomez, every day icon even even.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Good time perfect Gasey, thank you so much for opening
- 3:22Speaker 1: us up on a musical number and just a good
- 3:25Speaker 1: life lesson for how useful hats can be. Mm hm odra,
- 3:29Speaker 1: what about you? Disney Channel fan, Past, Present, Future.
- 3:33Speaker 2: I watched a lot of Disney Channel growing up. It
- 3:36Speaker 2: was weird because my family was really picky about the
- 3:40Speaker 2: things that I watched. They were super religious, and so
- 3:44Speaker 2: it was I would I would sneak in episodes of
- 3:48Speaker 2: Wizards of Waverly Place, but they they did magic, and
- 3:51Speaker 2: so my parents were like, oh no, You've got to
- 3:52Speaker 2: stick with Lizzie Maguire. The most magic thing is that
- 3:55Speaker 2: she has her little animated version of herself, and that's fine.
- 3:59Speaker 1: That's not witchcraft.
- 4:00Speaker 2: It's not is it?
- 4:03Speaker 1: Who knows? In that little cartoon.
- 4:05Speaker 2: God manifestation, she's going for it. But I watched a
- 4:09Speaker 2: ton of Disney Channel growing up. Anything that could be
- 4:13Speaker 2: watched probably later than I should have been watching it. Okay, yeah,
- 4:19Speaker 2: I watched Yep.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Everyone else was watching like reality TV, and I was
- 4:25Speaker 3: watching Hannah Montana, so that, yep, we have a very.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Very similar timeline.
- 4:34Speaker 1: It sounds like you've got pretty good knowledge of past
- 4:37Speaker 1: and present Disney Channel. I think you're going to be
- 4:39Speaker 1: a good team. I think this is the team that
- 4:41Speaker 1: Walt Disney would be proud of. The mega fans.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Oh, I would agree.
- 4:46Speaker 2: I don't want Walt Disney to be proud of me.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Are we going to dive into the brain freezing at all?
- 4:54Speaker 1: Oh? Walt Disney's brain Bean frozen.
- 4:56Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know if it's on the schedule,
- 4:58Speaker 2: but we could.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Yeah, we could get into In fact, i'll introduce your
- 5:02Speaker 1: opponents and then if we want to have a round
- 5:04Speaker 1: table about Walt Disney's frozen brain we can absolutely. Yeah.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Sounds good, So your opponents. She is a comedian, improviser
- 5:12Speaker 1: and sketchwriter a trip, so her triple threat of disappointing
- 5:15Speaker 1: your parents. Also, she's here with us in the studio.
- 5:18Speaker 1: It's Eleanor Christie. Hello, and she is a stand up
- 5:21Speaker 1: comedian writer, and her bio says she's basically Garfield. So
- 5:25Speaker 1: it's too bad we're recording this on a Monday and
- 5:28Speaker 1: I didn't make a lasagna. It's Laurian Stewart.
- 5:31Speaker 5: Hi. Yes, it did occur to me that this would
- 5:33Speaker 5: be a lasagniel list Monday.
- 5:35Speaker 2: But it's all right. It seems worth it.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Okay, I'm glad. Garfield is pleased. Welcome Elena, Welcome Laurian.
- 5:43Speaker 1: How are you both doing?
- 5:45Speaker 4: I'm great. I went on a long hike today, thought
- 5:47Speaker 4: that maybe I was going to die in the woods,
- 5:49Speaker 4: and then I found my way back to my car.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it's always a good day when you don't die
- 5:54Speaker 1: in the woods.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Colorado Livin'.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Absolutely, I'm good. I worked today and it was terrible.
- 6:03Speaker 5: So this is a lot better.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, we aim to be just that little bit
- 6:07Speaker 1: better than what yes, yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Just slightly better than getting an email from legal like
- 6:12Speaker 5: that's yeah, that's all.
- 6:13Speaker 2: The bar's really low, and.
- 6:16Speaker 1: We are just about meeting it. Well, thank you both
- 6:21Speaker 1: of you for joining us for these fun Disney Channel games. Lauriam,
- 6:26Speaker 1: we'll start with you. Were you a fan? Are you
- 6:28Speaker 1: a fan?
- 6:29Speaker 5: I definitely was a fan. I wouldn't say I'm a
- 6:31Speaker 5: fan now. But it's funny because when I think about
- 6:34Speaker 5: the TV shows, that's not like really what speaks to
- 6:37Speaker 5: me Disney Channel. But I was locked in on those
- 6:41Speaker 5: Disney Channel original movies. I have like vivid memories of Audrey.
- 6:46Speaker 5: You're talking about like being a little too old. I
- 6:48Speaker 5: remember being like fifteen and being like Friday.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Night at eight pm, Disney Channel original movie, Now you
- 6:53Speaker 2: get it?
- 6:54Speaker 5: And that was like my plan was like I'm gonna
- 6:56Speaker 5: sit down and I remember like fingers crossed, like let's
- 6:59Speaker 5: go thirteenth year, let's go Smart House, Like which.
- 7:02Speaker 2: One's it gonna be?
- 7:03Speaker 5: And then it would just you know, be reading Weep
- 7:05Speaker 5: and I'd be like, no, but that's fine.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I like that one too. So yeah, that was what
- 7:09Speaker 2: I was doing.
- 7:10Speaker 5: And then you know, watching all the shows anyway, but
- 7:12Speaker 5: it was the movies I really had my heart.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Nice. Yeah, they did make a big deal about like
- 7:17Speaker 1: the appointment viewing of like it's a big debut of
- 7:19Speaker 1: the next movie that we've been showing trailers full for
- 7:21Speaker 1: the last month. Mmmmm, so I can. Yeah, if I
- 7:25Speaker 1: was an American and also age fifteen, I could see
- 7:27Speaker 1: me falling for those those commercials.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I like to think you would.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Okay, sweet, so Helen know how about yourself?
- 7:35Speaker 4: Disney Channel, Disney Channel, and you know what, it never
- 7:38Speaker 4: occurred to me when I was fifteen that that was
- 7:40Speaker 4: too old. I thought that was just fine. I loved
- 7:44Speaker 4: Dada about Dada. I went to the head about Data concert.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Hell yeah, but it was great.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Steen Miley a few times since then, and she's just
- 7:51Speaker 4: on an upward.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Spiral all the way, all the way through the Bangas era,
- 7:54Speaker 1: all the way through stick In with Miley all the way,
- 7:57Speaker 1: brilliant stuff. You love to hear it. It's a It's
- 8:00Speaker 1: interesting because what I'm hearing from the group is that
- 8:01Speaker 1: actually watching Disney Channel to you're fifteen is fine because
- 8:05Speaker 1: that's the standards that's.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Here, ideal. This feels normal.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no one here to argue against that way
- 8:10Speaker 1: of life, so you're all correct well, And I also.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Think that's way better for you than watching Jersey Shore
- 8:16Speaker 4: Real World.
- 8:17Speaker 2: M M you're fifteen. Let's go party.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Good stuff, all right, So some more nostalgia, some more,
- 8:26Speaker 1: some more knowledge. You're connecting to parts of your childhood.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I love it, but maybe not current fans. So if
- 8:31Speaker 1: some modern stuff comes up, maybe Casey and Ordre might
- 8:34Speaker 1: have an advantage there.
- 8:36Speaker 5: I think Casey and Audre probably have an advantage anyway. Okay,
- 8:40Speaker 5: I have insider knowledge and Elena's preparation.
- 8:46Speaker 4: I'm sorry that my whole childhood is repressed.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Okay, no, that's fair. That's allowed. Good stuff. And look,
- 8:54Speaker 1: before we move on, do we want to talk about
- 8:55Speaker 1: Disney's frozen head? Is that a topic that's interesting to everyone.
- 9:00Speaker 4: I didn't know about this. His brain's frozen, Yeah, yeah, Casey.
- 9:03Speaker 3: I don't know if like it's been proven, but people
- 9:06Speaker 3: say it's like a conspiracy theory that he froze his
- 9:09Speaker 3: brain so that once we have the technology to like
- 9:13Speaker 3: bring people back to life, that he can do that
- 9:17Speaker 3: and create another I don't know, Walt Disney World, maybe
- 9:21Speaker 3: somewhere northeast, who knows.
- 9:25Speaker 1: No, I feel like that's the only idea that immortality.
- 9:29Speaker 1: He's coming back to life just for business expansion.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Yes, one more theme park, you know, It's funny.
- 9:36Speaker 5: It's like never even crossed my mind that like Walt
- 9:38Speaker 5: Disney and Disney Channel are connected, Like I don't think
- 9:41Speaker 5: of them together at all, because in my mind, like
- 9:44Speaker 5: Disney Channel really was like its own entity, and even
- 9:47Speaker 5: like you know, they would all do the like the
- 9:49Speaker 5: cursive d it was always a g to me. So
- 9:52Speaker 5: like I knew it was Disney, but I thought of
- 9:54Speaker 5: it as Disney, and.
- 9:56Speaker 2: So why I thought was a P and so it was.
- 9:59Speaker 3: It was, yeah, Disney, I thought you were talking about.
- 10:04Speaker 3: That just brought me flashback to when they would do
- 10:06Speaker 3: the little emails in the corner and they would say,
- 10:09Speaker 3: I'm Hillary Dad, and you're watching Disney Channel. I used
- 10:14Speaker 3: to in my mirror a lot.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Oh yeah, same.
- 10:19Speaker 1: That genuinely might come in handy for one of the
- 10:21Speaker 1: games later on. Yeah, but we'll say, okay, teams. It's
- 10:27Speaker 1: a Saturday morning in two thousand and three. You roll
- 10:30Speaker 1: out of bed at eleven AM after all that Playhouse
- 10:33Speaker 1: Disney shit has finished, and turn on Disney Channel to
- 10:36Speaker 1: watch reruns of Recess. You've got a bowl of cereal
- 10:39Speaker 1: in hand and zero responsibilities for the rest of the day. Bliss,
- 10:44Speaker 1: But a plotline on the show reminds you of an
- 10:46Speaker 1: upcoming team project at school where you were supposed to
- 10:49Speaker 1: think of team names for a Disney Channel themed game show.
- 10:52Speaker 1: It isn't two thousand and three, it's twenty twenty five,
- 10:55Speaker 1: and you're in hell. So I'd like each pair to
- 10:58Speaker 1: come up with a Disney Channel themed team name. Please.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Let's start with Oudra and Casey. Any ideas, Oh I have,
- 11:06Speaker 1: I have a couple. Oh, don't see them, but I
- 11:09Speaker 1: don't know if any of them are good.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Probably not. We'll find out. Sweet life of Odra and Casey. Okay, nice.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I loved Kim Possible, but now I swear so call
- 11:20Speaker 2: me bleep me.
- 11:22Speaker 3: I love that.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Also, Girls of the twenty first Century. I loved Xenon.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I was obsessed with Xenon Sam. The first Disney Channel
- 11:31Speaker 2: original movie I watched was Brink and they were a
- 11:34Speaker 2: skate team. And there's their team name was pupp and SuDS,
- 11:40Speaker 2: which don't know, So that one we can just eliminate
- 11:44Speaker 2: because that's only a me memory.
- 11:47Speaker 3: I feel like, out of those, I'm loving Girls of
- 11:51Speaker 3: the twenty first Century.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yes, yes, it's okay, probably the one that I am
- 11:56Speaker 2: most proud of, So that brings me joy to it
- 11:59Speaker 2: was knows the better of them.
- 12:02Speaker 3: I was literally just gonna say mine were not creative.
- 12:05Speaker 3: I was just going to say, like the Wildcats or
- 12:09Speaker 3: Cheetah Girls too. So I like, I like yours better.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Going with girls of the twenty first century. Yes, that's
- 12:20Speaker 1: a great team name.
- 12:22Speaker 2: It sure is.
- 12:22Speaker 5: It was great three hours ago when I texted that
- 12:25Speaker 5: to Elena's well, that's fine.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Wow, Okay, competition can already be built up off the
- 12:34Speaker 1: back of this.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I have backups. Don't worry.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Excellent okay, Laurie, and let's let's hear them then.
- 12:40Speaker 5: So I just want to put out there my first
- 12:41Speaker 5: one I suggested that Elena did not care for was
- 12:44Speaker 5: Lizzie McGuire's bra. And does anybody remember that episode? Okay,
- 12:50Speaker 5: I want a bra, Okay a bra. I died watching
- 12:54Speaker 5: that episode and I was like, that's iconic, Lizzie McGuire's bra.
- 12:58Speaker 2: But we said no to that one. Elena, you're still no.
- 13:00Speaker 4: Are you sure I could get on board with that?
- 13:03Speaker 2: Well, you know what.
- 13:04Speaker 3: It was, Lizzie Maguire's broad.
- 13:09Speaker 4: Fun.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I don't.
- 13:12Speaker 5: Let me tell you my other one, speaking of brink,
- 13:14Speaker 5: because they called themselves soul skaters were the soul haters.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Nice. I like that.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Those were my ideas. Elena said something about smart, smart mouse,
- 13:26Speaker 2: smart mouse.
- 13:29Speaker 6: What did you say, Elena, smart house, smart mouse, smart
- 13:33Speaker 6: loves smart.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:37Speaker 5: Dylan Sprouse, Oh, do you want to just be? Do
- 13:42Speaker 5: you want to just be Dylan Sprouse?
- 13:45Speaker 4: I'm done?
- 13:46Speaker 2: All right? Actually, can we just be? Can we be
- 13:48Speaker 2: Cole and Dylan Sprouse? Are you col I want to
- 13:52Speaker 2: be Cole, you can be Dylan.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Okay, I love it. Yeah, it will make it seem
- 13:58Speaker 1: like they're on this podcast. People are gonna be disappointed,
- 14:01Speaker 1: but I love it.
- 14:03Speaker 3: I wonder where they are now.
- 14:06Speaker 5: Oh, they're doing amazing. I see them on I see
- 14:08Speaker 5: them on the Gram regularly. Yeah, I call Sprouse stays relevant.
- 14:14Speaker 2: I don't remember which one it was, but during my
- 14:18Speaker 2: time on Tumblr, I remember one of them got on
- 14:20Speaker 2: Tumblr and like made friendships with a lot of people
- 14:25Speaker 2: on Tumblr and then wrote their like university thesis on
- 14:30Speaker 2: parasocial relationships with celebrities, and so Tumblr got grumpy. But
- 14:34Speaker 2: I was like, that's pretty fucking smart, that's funny.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Mm hmmm.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Quite, I'm into it, mm hmmm.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And I'm into these team names we've got Girls of
- 14:43Speaker 1: the twenty first century versus Cole and Dylan Spross. Good stuff,
- 14:49Speaker 1: all right, And if you're listening to this and thinking
- 14:51Speaker 1: h I was more of a Nickelodeon kid, actually worry not.
- 14:55Speaker 1: His audre with a little segment we like to call
- 14:58Speaker 1: passing knowledge.
- 14:59Speaker 2: While the Disney Channel originally launched on cable television in
- 15:02Speaker 2: nineteen eighty three with programming focused mainly on children and
- 15:06Speaker 2: adolescents ages six to fourteen, the true golden age was
- 15:11Speaker 2: from approximately nineteen ninety eight to twenty sixteen, the beginning
- 15:16Speaker 2: of which coincidentally coincided with the channel's move from premium
- 15:21Speaker 2: to basic channels. A great lesson for young girls. If
- 15:25Speaker 2: you want more people to like you, try lowering your standards.
- 15:28Speaker 2: The channels showcased original sitcoms tailored for kids and iconic
- 15:33Speaker 2: original films featuring tons of names we now know today
- 15:38Speaker 2: like Selena Gomez, Olivia Rodrigo, even Zendeia all have their
- 15:42Speaker 2: starts on Disney Channel original TV series. Take that, Timothy Shallomey,
- 15:47Speaker 2: All you got to do is go to a fancy
- 15:49Speaker 2: art school. As kids, we loved Disney Channel because it
- 15:53Speaker 2: was both wacky and relatable. The kids were rebellious and spirited,
- 15:58Speaker 2: but still dealt with things that felt huge to us
- 16:00Speaker 2: as kids, like that time Kate Sanders accused Lizzie of
- 16:04Speaker 2: being an outfit repeater and then told everyone her email
- 16:07Speaker 2: was Lizzy at biggiantloser dot com, an act of mid
- 16:11Speaker 2: two thousands bullying that still haunts me to this day.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Parents also loved Disney Channel because no matter the shenanigans,
- 16:19Speaker 2: the kids always learned something like be respectful, bullies never win,
- 16:23Speaker 2: don't do drugs. I mean, I don't know, I don't
- 16:26Speaker 2: really remember the boring parts. For millennial women, Disney Channel
- 16:30Speaker 2: is as cozy as a pair of skinny jeans, a
- 16:33Speaker 2: pumpkin spice latte, and hugging your Doggo. And if you
- 16:37Speaker 2: have a problem with that, you're just gonna have to
- 16:38Speaker 2: beat me in a high school musical themed dance battle. Okay,
- 16:42Speaker 2: you know that's not actually a bad game idea, Matt,
- 16:45Speaker 2: write that down. Let's play Pandemonium.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Thank you, Audra. Look, we've already had some singing in
- 16:51Speaker 1: the show. Maybe some dancing will happen. Yeahfore, before all
- 16:54Speaker 1: is said and done, just before we get to today's games,
- 16:57Speaker 1: I've asked each player to bring in a mute something
- 17:00Speaker 1: that inspires them or something they love from this particular fandom.
- 17:05Speaker 1: The Disney Channel is inspiring to me because it was
- 17:07Speaker 1: always so aspirational In the UK. It always remained a
- 17:11Speaker 1: premium cable channel, so if your friend had the Disney Channel,
- 17:15Speaker 1: you knew their parents were doing pretty well for themselves
- 17:17Speaker 1: and that the snacks would be great that day. So Oldra,
- 17:21Speaker 1: we'll start with you. What's inspiring you about the Disney Channel.
- 17:24Speaker 2: One particular episode of Lizzie Maguire that sticks in my mind,
- 17:29Speaker 2: like the whole way through. It's picture Day and Lizzie
- 17:33Speaker 2: is going to school in an outfit she really likes,
- 17:35Speaker 2: and her best friend Miranda has an outfit that is
- 17:37Speaker 2: incredible that Kate Sanders also has the same outfit. So
- 17:41Speaker 2: Kate Sanders orchestrates for paint to be thrown on Miranda,
- 17:45Speaker 2: but Lizzie jumps in front of it and has her
- 17:48Speaker 2: outfit covered in paint. But then Lizzie's outfit ends up
- 17:52Speaker 2: being the coolest one on picture Day, almost like friendship
- 17:55Speaker 2: was the coolest thing you could do anyway. Fuck, there
- 17:58Speaker 2: is a lesson, God damn it. Oh So I.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Love that episode. Nice always good to be inspired by
- 18:07Speaker 1: favorite episodes, and that is the second time already in
- 18:09Speaker 1: the first twenty minutes you've referenced that one specific episode,
- 18:12Speaker 1: so it must have must have stuck with you.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Yes, pivotal to my youth. I cut out an entire
- 18:18Speaker 2: plot line about her grandmother's hand knit sweater in the
- 18:22Speaker 2: interest of time, also because it was irrelevant.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Fantastic, lovely muse ouldra Let's move on over to your
- 18:30Speaker 1: Girls of the twenty first century teammates, Casey, what's inspiring
- 18:33Speaker 1: you about the Disney Channel?
- 18:34Speaker 3: So I have flashbacks to the Cheetah Girls movie, specifically
- 18:40Speaker 3: the part when they've all kind of had a falling
- 18:43Speaker 3: out and then they're on like the streets of New
- 18:46Speaker 3: York City, I think, and it's dark, and there's like
- 18:49Speaker 3: steam coming up from the whatever those things are called
- 18:53Speaker 3: in the sewer holes any man, you hear since Raven
- 19:01Speaker 3: Simone just start singing and then they all slowly come in,
- 19:06Speaker 3: and then they just break out into song and dance
- 19:09Speaker 3: and everyone goes wild, and they have fabulous outfits and
- 19:13Speaker 3: they're always color coordinated to like their specific colors. Everything
- 19:18Speaker 3: about the Cheetah Girls is just fabulous to me. I'm
- 19:22Speaker 3: obsessed and I still hope that one day me and
- 19:25Speaker 3: my friends can do like recreate that scene. So if
- 19:29Speaker 3: you go there down later that.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Cheetah print track suits, yes, yeah, holes, and get right
- 19:38Speaker 2: to it.
- 19:40Speaker 3: That would really make my whole life. So we could
- 19:42Speaker 3: coordinate that, I would be grateful.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Yeah I can. I can tell how that's inspired you
- 19:49Speaker 1: very much. So for something that needs to happen, it's
- 19:52Speaker 1: it's stayed with you. And that's awesome, very inspiring stuff
- 19:54Speaker 1: from the Girls of the twenty first Century. Let's move
- 19:57Speaker 1: on over to Colon Dylan Sprouse. This is rapidly becoming
- 20:00Speaker 1: one of my favorite all time team names on this podcast.
- 20:03Speaker 1: It's just two guys.
- 20:06Speaker 2: They're good.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Just the boys, Just the boys. Okay, Elena, what's inspiring
- 20:13Speaker 1: you from the world of Disney Channel.
- 20:15Speaker 4: I'm just thinking of this now, but really like the
- 20:19Speaker 4: sibling relationships on the Disney Channel so mirrored my sibling
- 20:23Speaker 4: relationships at home, where half the time they're like bickering
- 20:27Speaker 4: or terrorizing each other or like you know, trying to
- 20:31Speaker 4: escape goat the other with the parents. And specifically I'm
- 20:34Speaker 4: thinking of Phil and Pim from Phil in the Future.
- 20:37Speaker 4: And then I was also thinking about the even Stephen's
- 20:40Speaker 4: siblings Wren and anyone.
- 20:44Speaker 1: No, it doesn't come up later.
- 20:46Speaker 2: What is his name?
- 20:48Speaker 4: It seems oh, yes, yes, Luis. Yeah, but you know,
- 20:54Speaker 4: the siblings always came back together and we're on the
- 20:56Speaker 4: same team.
- 20:57Speaker 2: That is so good because they do like fight and
- 20:59Speaker 2: they but if somebody else comes for one of their siblings,
- 21:02Speaker 2: they're like, no, only me.
- 21:06Speaker 5: You're not going to talk about life with Derek though,
- 21:08Speaker 5: and like the.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Undercurrent, yes I talk. Okay, Matt has heard me talk
- 21:14Speaker 2: about this so many times they got that show canceled.
- 21:21Speaker 3: I felt weird watching that show.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I bet you did.
- 21:26Speaker 3: There was something not right about it, but I couldn't stop.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I couldn't identify what it was at the time.
- 21:35Speaker 2: As an adult, now I know.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Yeah, everybody has their sexual awakening. Just watching Kasey and
- 21:41Speaker 5: Derek be like step siblings.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Weren't they walk out of the room.
- 21:45Speaker 3: They were all they're Canadians, right, they were Canadians at least.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Well, I think this is just.
- 21:53Speaker 3: How people are in Canada.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Some kind of awful propaganda, sheltered childhood minds. Well maybe
- 22:04Speaker 1: not that specific kind of simpling relationship, but Elena the
- 22:08Speaker 1: simpling relationships in Disney Channel shows, and it's a good
- 22:10Speaker 1: trope as is, but so frequent in shows and movies
- 22:14Speaker 1: on the Disney Channel because that was their audience, siblings
- 22:17Speaker 1: watching together, very inspiring stuff. Moving on over to the
- 22:23Speaker 1: other half of Coal and Dylan Sprouse is just so
- 22:25Speaker 1: I get this down. Who's Coal? Elena is? Dylan? Got it? Okay?
- 22:32Speaker 2: So cold it feels obvious? Can you not tell us apart?
- 22:38Speaker 1: So Cole, what's inspiring you from the world of the
- 22:41Speaker 1: Disney Channel.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I've been going back and forth in my mind.
- 22:44Speaker 5: I think I'm going to go with this sincere option
- 22:46Speaker 5: and I'm gonna say just the way that like anybody
- 22:51Speaker 5: could do anything in those Disney Channel original movies. Anybody
- 22:55Speaker 5: could ride a dirt bike, anybody could do street luge,
- 22:59Speaker 5: anybody could like win the big basketball game. Like I
- 23:03Speaker 5: seriously grew up thinking like these would be opportunities presented
- 23:06Speaker 5: to me at some point along my life.
- 23:08Speaker 2: I would have a chance to like skate for sponsorship,
- 23:12Speaker 2: Like it could happen to me. It could happen to me.
- 23:15Speaker 5: And even though it is like it's so ridiculous, I
- 23:17Speaker 5: was like refreshing myself on the plot of some of
- 23:19Speaker 5: these movies, and I was reading the plot for Motocross,
- 23:23Speaker 5: do you guys, which.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Is all later about it.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Part of it though, is the dad has to go
- 23:28Speaker 5: to Europe to like get this this like new dirt
- 23:31Speaker 5: bike rider. And I just am like, yeah, that makes
- 23:33Speaker 5: perfect sense that the dad's gonna go like get this
- 23:36Speaker 5: new dirt bike rider for the team, But no, she's
- 23:38Speaker 5: gonna do it. Instead, she's gonna cut all her hair off.
- 23:41Speaker 5: She's gonna ride that dirt bike. It was so cool,
- 23:43Speaker 5: and I was like, yeah, of course, like who wouldn't
- 23:45Speaker 5: do that.
- 23:45Speaker 2: I would do it. I could do it, and I
- 23:47Speaker 2: still did this day. Believe I could right now, I
- 23:50Speaker 2: could become motocross any second. Cut your hair, get that jersey,
- 23:54Speaker 2: start down. I'm ready, Like at the drop of a hat,
- 23:58Speaker 2: I feel it's my time. Thank you.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I believe you completely. And I think that's a very
- 24:02Speaker 1: relatable kind of trope concept that's in those series. I
- 24:08Speaker 1: as someone who didn't grow up in this country but
- 24:10Speaker 1: grew up on like a lot of American sitcoms, I
- 24:12Speaker 1: thought they'd be way like I thought my house would
- 24:15Speaker 1: get teepeed a ton, because that happens in so many
- 24:19Speaker 1: different sitcoms and things, and it just hasn't happened, So
- 24:21Speaker 1: I relate to that massively.
- 24:22Speaker 3: It never happened, though, You're like, yeah, my house is
- 24:25Speaker 3: te beet all the time, all the time. Yeah, only
- 24:31Speaker 3: junior Senior wars, but that's only one week out of
- 24:34Speaker 3: the year.
- 24:35Speaker 7: You know.
- 24:36Speaker 2: I grew up so far outside of town, like so
- 24:39Speaker 2: rural that you would have to like drive your car
- 24:43Speaker 2: miles to be like, what's the perfect house, or like
- 24:47Speaker 2: we have to go into town, or if you'd find
- 24:50Speaker 2: someone's house, you'd like park your car like a quarter
- 24:53Speaker 2: mile away, turn off the lights, and then just like
- 24:55Speaker 2: scurry so that no one would see you.
- 24:58Speaker 1: So it did happen. It just hasn't happened to me yet.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Oh it happened so poorly. My throwing arm has never
- 25:08Speaker 2: been good.
- 25:10Speaker 5: One of my neighbors literally got t feeeds like this Halloween,
- 25:14Speaker 5: you're joking, so I'm not. And I mean these toilet
- 25:17Speaker 5: paper prices Sharman's like thirty dollars now, So I was like,
- 25:20Speaker 5: that's serious.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Thief going on with this neighbor. I was very fast, Yeah,
- 25:25Speaker 2: are guy kids? Are kids just getting priced out of tepeeing?
- 25:28Speaker 4: Yes?
- 25:28Speaker 1: That what's happening, That's what I'm saying. But the kids
- 25:33Speaker 1: back in the Disney Channel days, weren't They were getting
- 25:35Speaker 1: up to all kinds of high jinks and able to
- 25:37Speaker 1: do all kinds of crazy stuff that I guess yeah,
- 25:39Speaker 1: they made us could do They could do anything.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Anything could happen to you, because why not you?
- 25:45Speaker 1: Great point and very inspiring as well, which is the
- 25:48Speaker 1: whole point of this segment. That is just the disguise
- 25:50Speaker 1: to have some more chat before we get into games.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Shall we get into those games?
- 25:55Speaker 2: Heck?
- 25:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, sweet Okay, teams, Let's grab our paper sandwich bags,
- 26:00Speaker 1: hop on a yellow school bus and dance our way
- 26:02Speaker 1: past all the lockers. It's all so American in Round one.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Round one is our classic game of deliberation, elimination, and
- 26:14Speaker 1: deception that this time we're calling uneven stevens because it's
- 26:18Speaker 1: not fair and I'm trying to trick you. Is the
- 26:20Speaker 1: reason I've got written down here. I will name a
- 26:23Speaker 1: category and then offer each team a list of five
- 26:26Speaker 1: things supposedly from that category. One by one, each team
- 26:30Speaker 1: will pick correct answers for a point each avoiding incorrect
- 26:34Speaker 1: answers or you'll be frozen out of the list like
- 26:37Speaker 1: that one Disney movie that I assume plays on the
- 26:39Speaker 1: channel sometimes, so it works as a reference. Sure, I'm
- 26:43Speaker 1: sure it does. Okay, So the first category, each team
- 26:47Speaker 1: is going to get a list from this category titles
- 26:50Speaker 1: of Disney Channel original movies. So we will begin with
- 26:54Speaker 1: Girls of the twenty first Century. Here is your list
- 26:58Speaker 1: of five original movie Xenon, Girl of the twenty first Century,
- 27:05Speaker 1: the Million Dollar Miracle, Hatching Pete, Tiger Cruz, and Project
- 27:12Speaker 1: Mom Date.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Ooh, okay, Xenon, we can lock that one get and
- 27:17Speaker 3: the third one the Hatching whatever. That one is a thing.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Okay, we'll lock in Xenon Xenon absolutely because it's your
- 27:25Speaker 1: team name.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Yes, if that's not a Disney Channel original movie, Things Got.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Wild, so there's a point there. And Hatching Pe sounded
- 27:34Speaker 1: confident with that one, casey.
- 27:35Speaker 3: I am pretty sure. I'm like an eighty five percent sure.
- 27:39Speaker 2: That is a better rate than I have on any
- 27:41Speaker 2: of the other ones.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure it was a hockey movie.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Okay, it's conjuring memories, million Dollar Miracle or Project mom Date.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Project Mom Date, and Tiger Cruz. Do you want to
- 27:55Speaker 1: lock in Hatching pet.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll lock in Hatching Pete.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Yet, yeah, Hatching Pete appssolutely a real movie. Hockey may
- 28:02Speaker 1: have been the sport. I think it was focusing on
- 28:04Speaker 1: this guy Pete who finds his confidence by becoming a
- 28:08Speaker 1: chicken mascot for.
- 28:09Speaker 3: A hockey team.
- 28:12Speaker 1: You can do anything, you could be a chicken mascot.
- 28:17Speaker 2: Between Million Dollar Miracle, Project Mom Date, Tiger.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Cruise, Tiger Crews, I feel like Project mom Date feels
- 28:29Speaker 3: like something Disney Channel would do, like helping. It also
- 28:33Speaker 3: feels very Mary Kate and Ashley to me, which.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Is aided Billboard Dad, and so I feel like I
- 28:39Speaker 2: wouldn't be surprised if Disney was like, we got a
- 28:43Speaker 2: cash in on kids trying to get their.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Parents a day. Yeah, this is a trend.
- 28:50Speaker 2: The kids want to get their parents laid and we
- 28:53Speaker 2: need to capitalize.
- 28:57Speaker 3: The Million Dollar Miracle does don't sound like a title
- 29:01Speaker 3: to me, I don't know. But also Tiger Cruise, what
- 29:06Speaker 3: is that?
- 29:07Speaker 2: Mm hmm, I feel like Jungle Cruise but that's a
- 29:10Speaker 2: now movie and Tiger King are the only things that
- 29:15Speaker 2: would come to my mind as like like that's the
- 29:19Speaker 2: only reasons those feel like that feels like a thing.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Jungle Cruise and Tiger King's so current, so now yeah,
- 29:25Speaker 1: so relevant.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Million dollar miracle? Wait, how many are not real?
- 29:29Speaker 4: Too?
- 29:30Speaker 1: Two and not real? So you're only looking for one more?
- 29:32Speaker 1: Out of these three, only one of these is real.
- 29:35Speaker 3: Tiger Cruise. Okay, million dollar miracle kind of gives me
- 29:38Speaker 3: baseball vibes.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Ooh, so like they've got to they've got to win
- 29:42Speaker 2: the big Game to get the prize.
- 29:44Speaker 3: For some reason, maybe it's like, yeah, I don't I
- 29:47Speaker 3: don't know, have a lemonade stand or something.
- 29:52Speaker 2: If this isn't a Disney Channel original movie, I mean
- 29:55Speaker 2: we should pitch it. Pitch it.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Wait, pitch it.
- 30:02Speaker 1: So you're going with a million dollar miracle. That sounds
- 30:04Speaker 1: the most plausible, I.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Say, yeah, they all sound like I don't know, and
- 30:09Speaker 2: so let's go with a million dollar miracle.
- 30:12Speaker 1: You going with million dollar miracle? That is fake? I'm afraid,
- 30:16Speaker 1: but I like the I like it being a baseball movie.
- 30:19Speaker 1: That it should that's what it should be. The other
- 30:21Speaker 1: real one was Tiger Cruise, which is not even considered
- 30:26Speaker 1: a nine eleven drama starring Hayden Pennetier. I think her
- 30:32Speaker 1: dad was like in the Navy. While nine eleven was happening,
- 30:35Speaker 1: and it's about how that wasn't relevant or something. I
- 30:38Speaker 1: don't know.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Disney went hard, not messing around.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Were like, you guys, year did that come out?
- 30:44Speaker 1: I think two thousand and three.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Timely turn around, turn around, It's been long enough. We
- 30:51Speaker 2: can make a Disney Channel original movie.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Put hate it in, they love her, and well done
- 30:59Speaker 1: for not calling for Project mom Date because yeah that
- 31:01Speaker 1: I did the exact same thing. I just gender swapped
- 31:03Speaker 1: the Mary Kate and Ashley thing and came up with
- 31:05Speaker 1: a fake title. So good stuff.
- 31:08Speaker 3: That would be a good movie too, though, I'd watch.
- 31:10Speaker 1: It, write it. Let's get it, let's get it done. Okay,
- 31:12Speaker 1: let's have a list of Disney Channel original movies for
- 31:15Speaker 1: colon Dylan Sprouse. Always great to address the Sprouse brothers.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Here are your five movies. Tests of the Rodeo, Halloween Town,
- 31:24Speaker 1: two Calibars, Revenge, The Look of the Irish, Gotta kick
- 31:30Speaker 1: it Up and making Waves.
- 31:33Speaker 4: Easy, Wow, look at the Irish the Irish barbe for sure?
- 31:38Speaker 2: Yes, and uh, well say them again. It was not
- 31:41Speaker 2: the first one. What was the fourth one?
- 31:43Speaker 1: You said the fourth one was got to kick it up?
- 31:45Speaker 2: What was the third one?
- 31:47Speaker 1: The look of the Irish was the second one Halloween Town,
- 31:52Speaker 1: two Calibaroe.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Town, two Klibars Revenge.
- 31:55Speaker 4: All right, we're locked in real for sure, locked in?
- 31:58Speaker 1: Okay you do. You're doing the the rare and risky
- 32:01Speaker 1: lock in all three at once, where if even one
- 32:03Speaker 1: of them is wrong, I can't give you any points what?
- 32:07Speaker 1: But fortunately they're all right, they're all correct. You've just
- 32:10Speaker 1: very confidently and correctly named off all three, including Gotta
- 32:15Speaker 1: Kick It Up, which definitely sounds like something I'd make up.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I loved Gotta Kick It I think I did too.
- 32:20Speaker 2: They were supposedly middle schoolers and they were definitely full adults.
- 32:27Speaker 4: What is that one about squad?
- 32:29Speaker 2: I think like a sheer.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Dance Yeah, I've got YEA friendship is found when middle
- 32:32Speaker 1: schoolers gain a passion for dance.
- 32:34Speaker 4: Love it.
- 32:36Speaker 2: It's all coming back, Oh America for rare. It's all
- 32:40Speaker 2: coming back to me now.
- 32:41Speaker 1: The Look of the Irish. Do you remember what that
- 32:43Speaker 1: was about?
- 32:43Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, that was my favorite one, actual Leprica yep.
- 32:48Speaker 2: And he banished his aps back to Cleveland. It was perfect, just.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Before the whole like, ooh he's a vampire, ooh he's
- 32:56Speaker 1: a werewolf. Like Disney experimented with.
- 32:57Speaker 5: Ooh, he's a leprecha, all right, leprecain, he's a little
- 33:01Speaker 5: in discute.
- 33:03Speaker 1: It was working, and so are you guys. Three out
- 33:07Speaker 1: of three. Very good stuff there, rude. So let's move
- 33:11Speaker 1: on to another category. We did movies. I think it
- 33:14Speaker 1: makes sense to move on to Disney Channel original series.
- 33:17Speaker 1: And here is a list for girls of the twenty
- 33:19Speaker 1: first century, Beyond the Magic Castle. Totally hoops, Brandy and
- 33:25Speaker 1: mister Whiskers, all about me, Phil of the Future.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Okay, Brandy, mister Whiskers, Yes that weekends. Yes, also the
- 33:36Speaker 3: two I know all about me. I actually think that's
- 33:39Speaker 3: like a newer one. Ooh, I don't know that. Could
- 33:43Speaker 3: I could just be thinking of like all these very
- 33:45Speaker 3: self absorbed like dolls that they have when you walk
- 33:48Speaker 3: around Target these days, loll need doll, So maybe that
- 33:54Speaker 3: where that's coming from, or what another they're called.
- 33:58Speaker 2: But we'll get to points, so we'll lock in Pill
- 34:01Speaker 2: of the Future.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Fill of the feature absolutely is correct, and Brandy and
- 34:05Speaker 1: mister Whiskers, Yeah, A spunky dog and a hyperactive rabbit
- 34:08Speaker 1: is apparently what that's about.
- 34:09Speaker 2: What was the first one?
- 34:11Speaker 1: The first one was Beyond the Magic Castle.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Beyond the Magic Castle, I'm not any to me. Yeah,
- 34:20Speaker 2: I know they have like the descendants things that it's like,
- 34:24Speaker 2: it's all of the Disney people's kids. I know that's
- 34:30Speaker 2: the thing, and so maybe there's something related to that,
- 34:33Speaker 2: but I'm unsure.
- 34:35Speaker 3: And then the one after that, sorry.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Totally No, Totally Hoops is the other one, Totally You've
- 34:42Speaker 1: got Beyond the Magic Castle. Totally Hoops like.
- 34:46Speaker 3: A spinoff of high school Musical.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Uh huh?
- 34:49Speaker 2: Did they do a show just about the wild Cats
- 34:54Speaker 2: basketball team?
- 34:56Speaker 3: I would watch that Urban Blue kidding absolutely.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Get him back. Yeah, let's see what he's doing these days.
- 35:05Speaker 3: He wanted to be a chef though. Oh that was
- 35:06Speaker 3: his thing.
- 35:07Speaker 4: So I just remember.
- 35:09Speaker 2: So I hope he, I hope he. I hope he
- 35:12Speaker 2: achieved his dreams.
- 35:13Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 35:14Speaker 2: We could just go for totally Hoops because it's the
- 35:17Speaker 2: recency bias. It feels the most real.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Okay, I'm good with that.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Going with totally Hoops.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Try totally Hoops.
- 35:25Speaker 1: It is real. Totally Hoops is the other real one.
- 35:27Speaker 1: It's a reality series about a real girls basketball team.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Oh, okay basketball team.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Okay, yes, three for three good stuff.
- 35:37Speaker 4: All right.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Now, let's have a list of Disney Channel original series
- 35:41Speaker 1: for Cole and Dylan Sprouse. Here we go, Dog with
- 35:44Speaker 1: a Blog, Shiloh and Sydney Save the World, So Weird,
- 35:51Speaker 1: Infinity Dance, and Bug.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Juice block in Bug Juice.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Happy with that, Elena? Yeah, I trust your juice is correct.
- 36:00Speaker 4: That's cool, Thank you, Dylan.
- 36:04Speaker 2: What was the third one?
- 36:05Speaker 1: The third one was so weird.
- 36:08Speaker 5: I'm like an eighty percent sure on that one, Elena,
- 36:10Speaker 5: Does that ring any bells?
- 36:13Speaker 4: No?
- 36:13Speaker 2: Say them all again?
- 36:16Speaker 1: You've got Dog with a Blog, Shiloh and Sydney Save
- 36:19Speaker 1: the World So weird? And Infinity Dance.
- 36:24Speaker 2: I think it's Dog with a Blog and so Weird? Anything, Elena? Anything?
- 36:30Speaker 4: Literally? None of them ring a bell? The only one
- 36:32Speaker 4: that I thought was Shiloh and Soon You Save the World.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Like maybe that makes me think something, but maybe it
- 36:37Speaker 4: just sounds good and I would watch it.
- 36:42Speaker 2: That just like something like Dog with a Blog that
- 36:45Speaker 2: I think I've heard.
- 36:46Speaker 1: On board with Dog with a Blog, Going with Dog
- 36:49Speaker 1: with the Blog as your second it is?
- 36:51Speaker 4: Yes, all right?
- 36:53Speaker 1: Good stuff was a point, just one left to find.
- 36:56Speaker 4: I trust more than me if you want to go
- 36:58Speaker 4: with so weird.
- 36:59Speaker 5: I think it has to be because Shiloh and Sydney whatever.
- 37:03Speaker 5: I just don't believe. I don't believe your delivery of it,
- 37:06Speaker 5: and I don't believe that.
- 37:08Speaker 4: I just.
- 37:10Speaker 2: You didn't say it with enough conviction.
- 37:12Speaker 1: If it was a bit were like, if it was
- 37:14Speaker 1: like Shiloh and Sydney Save the world.
- 37:17Speaker 2: That helped a little. Actually, let me think more. No,
- 37:20Speaker 2: I think it's so weird. I think it's so weird.
- 37:23Speaker 4: We will look at it so weird.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Yes, that is correct. Three for three. I think so
- 37:29Speaker 1: Weird was like a kid X files or something.
- 37:31Speaker 5: That's what.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Yes, it scared me. I was like because my older
- 37:36Speaker 2: sister watched So Weird and I was like, oh no,
- 37:39Speaker 2: that must mean it's for older kids, not fifteen year
- 37:43Speaker 2: olds like us. Yeah, NC seventeen.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Okay, So one final category in this round. This time
- 37:54Speaker 1: we're going to go with soundtrack songs from high school
- 37:57Speaker 1: musicals one, two or three. Oh the title of songs
- 38:04Speaker 1: just gotta stretch. None of that modern series bullshit original
- 38:08Speaker 1: trilogy only got here we go.
- 38:11Speaker 3: I've been I've been training for this exact category.
- 38:15Speaker 1: This is this is years of work. Okay, Girls of
- 38:19Speaker 1: the twenty first century. Here is your list of songs.
- 38:22Speaker 1: The Boys are Back Together apart from you, You are
- 38:25Speaker 1: the music in me, Bop to the Top, the Bounce
- 38:29Speaker 1: Past Boogie.
- 38:30Speaker 2: So definitely you are the music in me, and Bop
- 38:36Speaker 2: to the top.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Bop to the top. Right, and the boys are back
- 38:40Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure too, Okay, because they were.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I'll go in, what are we trying to.
- 38:45Speaker 6: Do right now?
- 38:46Speaker 1: We're trying to pick, yes, pick correct this high school musical.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Three real ones?
- 38:52Speaker 3: Yes, oh they can be. We're not picking. I thought
- 38:55Speaker 3: we were picking if they went with the first one
- 38:58Speaker 3: or the second one.
- 38:59Speaker 1: If you can name that as well. Look, I'm not
- 39:01Speaker 1: going to give you any bonus points, but there could
- 39:03Speaker 1: be some kind of some kind of clout and credibility
- 39:05Speaker 1: to some listeners, a personal victory.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, so Bop to the Top and you are
- 39:10Speaker 3: the music in me for sure? Can you tell us
- 39:12Speaker 3: what the other ones were? Again?
- 39:14Speaker 1: Yes, you got definitely got two points for those two
- 39:16Speaker 1: because they are absolutely correct. The other remaining three are
- 39:20Speaker 1: the boys are back together apart from you and the
- 39:23Speaker 1: bounce Past Boogie?
- 39:25Speaker 3: Okay, and what is the bounce past boogie?
- 39:28Speaker 2: That's not that feels that feels like if I was
- 39:32Speaker 2: going to make that a musical number, it would be
- 39:35Speaker 2: like one where they like pass the basketballs all over
- 39:38Speaker 2: the place, which feels like a thing. Yeah, and then
- 39:43Speaker 2: the real song and then the boys are back. I
- 39:46Speaker 2: remember there was one song in one of the high
- 39:50Speaker 2: school musicals where they hated each other and then they
- 39:54Speaker 2: danced and then they showed up wearing each other's clothes.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Yes, hell yeah, but the basketball players right, yes, And
- 40:02Speaker 3: I want to say that's what it was. The boys
- 40:05Speaker 3: are back, and they were all like doing bro stuff.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Yeah, channel Bro stuff what they can show. So you're
- 40:16Speaker 1: going with the boys are back? I think so, yeah,
- 40:19Speaker 1: I think so yeah, And I think I think it
- 40:21Speaker 1: was that exact song as well. Yeah, three for three
- 40:24Speaker 1: good stuff.
- 40:25Speaker 2: All that training was worth it.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Yeah. I didn't think i'd truck anyone with the bounce
- 40:31Speaker 1: past Spookie.
- 40:32Speaker 5: But I believed that because I remember that scene so well,
- 40:36Speaker 5: of like when they're throwing the ball back and forth.
- 40:38Speaker 2: But like the they say, it's a different song in
- 40:41Speaker 2: the game. Hello, get your head in the game, get you,
- 40:44Speaker 2: get you, get you, get your head in the game.
- 40:45Speaker 4: All right, that's what it was.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Let's have our list is that on it.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Girl, you gotta show him stick to the status quo,
- 40:57Speaker 1: you can count on it. Walk away and huma huma
- 41:01Speaker 1: cuna kuna appau.
- 41:04Speaker 4: I'm a for sure on number two?
- 41:06Speaker 2: What was number two?
- 41:07Speaker 1: Stick to the status quo, stick to.
- 41:09Speaker 2: The no no, no yeah, stick to the stuff you know, yeah,
- 41:13Speaker 2: that's for.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Sure good stuff. And I think you sang the exact
- 41:16Speaker 1: right amount that we won't get a copyright strike.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Sorry. And then the last one.
- 41:24Speaker 5: I happened to Google at some point today like high
- 41:27Speaker 5: school musical whatever, in preparation for this, and I saw
- 41:32Speaker 5: you know how Google will will prompt like here's questions.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Other people asked there was something that was some very
- 41:37Speaker 5: long collection of letters that were half vowels that was
- 41:41Speaker 5: like blah blah blah blah blah, a deleted scene. So
- 41:44Speaker 5: that's ringing true to me.
- 41:46Speaker 2: But we're not gonna lack that in yet. Tell me
- 41:47Speaker 2: tell me them all again, unless Elena, you had another thought?
- 41:50Speaker 1: Did you have another thought?
- 41:51Speaker 4: I did not have another.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Yea, they are again. You've got girl. You got to
- 41:56Speaker 1: show him you can count on it. Walk away and
- 42:00Speaker 1: hum huma huma kunaua.
- 42:05Speaker 4: I think we should lock it in.
- 42:06Speaker 2: I think we should lock in the Huma Kuma.
- 42:09Speaker 1: That's so great so that I don't have to say
- 42:11Speaker 1: it again, and it is absolutely right for the exact
- 42:12Speaker 1: reason you said, Laurien.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Yes, if I had not looked at that today, I
- 42:16Speaker 2: wouldn't have known. Can you sing that? Because I what
- 42:18Speaker 2: is this? Was it deleted?
- 42:19Speaker 1: It was a deleted scene of I believe it's the
- 42:22Speaker 1: name of the state fish of Hawaii, and I think
- 42:25Speaker 1: like shar Pei was gonna trick Troy into coming to
- 42:28Speaker 1: a Hawaiian themed thing.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Perfect that factify? Yeah, Okay, I don't think you can
- 42:38Speaker 2: count on it?
- 42:38Speaker 4: Is it?
- 42:39Speaker 2: Because I know I think the original is dead on it,
- 42:41Speaker 2: and so I think.
- 42:42Speaker 4: That's Girl, You've got to show them.
- 42:45Speaker 2: I think no, because it was The other options were girl,
- 42:49Speaker 2: you gotta show them or way walk away. But there
- 42:55Speaker 2: is when Troy and Gabriella break up.
- 42:58Speaker 4: Rip had spoilers.
- 43:03Speaker 5: Okay, So yeah, we've got to decide between that and
- 43:05Speaker 5: I think the first one because I don't think you
- 43:07Speaker 5: can count out its it.
- 43:08Speaker 4: No, I agree with you leaning either way. I feel
- 43:12Speaker 4: very ambivalent.
- 43:15Speaker 2: What's the name of the first one?
- 43:16Speaker 4: Again, Girl You've got to show them?
- 43:18Speaker 2: And what are some of the lyrics a girl, You've
- 43:24Speaker 2: got to show them.
- 43:27Speaker 4: I could just see that being a fun little dance number.
- 43:30Speaker 5: But I can see when Troy and Gabriella are like
- 43:33Speaker 5: they're on the opposite sides of the lockers, like walk
- 43:35Speaker 5: away from me. Oh, I think you might be right, Elena. Oh, no, convincing.
- 43:44Speaker 5: Our rhetoric is too strong, Dylan. We have to just
- 43:48Speaker 5: I don't know, we have to make a choice somehow.
- 43:50Speaker 4: I okay, let's go with walk away.
- 43:53Speaker 2: No, I think you.
- 43:57Speaker 3: You really sold me off the.
- 44:00Speaker 1: No.
- 44:01Speaker 2: I think maybe maybe it's walk away. Let's let's try
- 44:03Speaker 2: walk away, walk away.
- 44:05Speaker 1: We'll be okay, all right, No, wammies, is it walk
- 44:09Speaker 1: away or is it girl? You gotta show him it's
- 44:13Speaker 1: walk away?
- 44:13Speaker 4: Ah?
- 44:14Speaker 1: Well done.
- 44:17Speaker 4: Good.
- 44:18Speaker 1: It both felt so real in that moment that I got.
- 44:21Speaker 2: I'm choked up thinking about it. If it ended up
- 44:24Speaker 2: being count on it.
- 44:27Speaker 1: That whole deliberation, yeah, totally right. I just changed back
- 44:33Speaker 1: on it to that so good stuff not falling for that.
- 44:38Speaker 1: And that is the end of round one. Let's ask
- 44:40Speaker 1: the nerdy kid in science class who turns out to
- 44:42Speaker 1: be our long term love interest to calculate the latest
- 44:45Speaker 1: scores and those scores are Girls of the twenty first
- 44:49Speaker 1: Century are on eight points. Colon Dylan Sprouse are on
- 44:52Speaker 1: nine points.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Oh Classic, Wow, Got to Step It Up, and.
- 45:00Speaker 4: Other inspiring songs from Yes, get your head in the
- 45:03Speaker 4: game Gotta kick it out up.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Next is round two. After these commercials, go grab a
- 45:08Speaker 1: bowl of cereal and then join us back on the
- 45:11Speaker 1: couch Doodles. Round two is called a Hill to Die on.
- 45:21Speaker 1: In this game, our players will each die on a
- 45:23Speaker 1: hill defending their favorite ever piece of Disney Channel media.
- 45:27Speaker 1: It could be a guilty pleasure, a true love, or
- 45:30Speaker 1: something that hasn't left your head for the last twenty years.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Players will each have one minute to make their case,
- 45:36Speaker 1: and I'd like them to do it in the style
- 45:38Speaker 1: of a Disney Channel protagonist finally standing up for themselves.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Points will be awarded for passion reasons why this media
- 45:45Speaker 1: is good or means a lot to you, and for
- 45:47Speaker 1: sticking to the style of a passionate Disney Channel protagonist.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Your fellow panelists will each have a chance to respond
- 45:53Speaker 1: to your speech before you die on your hill. Please
- 45:56Speaker 1: go along with this metaphor. And then, after all speeches
- 45:59Speaker 1: have been you as ghosts because we've gone along with
- 46:03Speaker 1: the metaphor will vote on who gave the best speech
- 46:06Speaker 1: and who should win a bonus points and be resurrected
- 46:10Speaker 1: for their opinion. Okay, okay, So Audra, we're gonna start
- 46:13Speaker 1: with you playing four girls of the twenty first century.
- 46:17Speaker 1: What is your Disney Channel series or movie that you're
- 46:21Speaker 1: super passionate about.
- 46:23Speaker 2: I am passionate about Kim Possible.
- 46:27Speaker 1: All right, Audra, with Kim Possible, tell us why you're
- 46:30Speaker 1: passionate about it. Die on this hill, take it away.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Kim Possible was one of the most phenomenal Disney Channel
- 46:37Speaker 2: TV shows. It had so many of the core elements
- 46:40Speaker 2: that you want in a Disney Channel TV show. It
- 46:44Speaker 2: had someone who starred in another show as the star
- 46:48Speaker 2: of that show. This is peak Disney. We had Christy
- 46:50Speaker 2: Carlstrom Romano from Evan Stevens coming over to voice the
- 46:55Speaker 2: Kim Possible. But it also had elements of the live
- 46:58Speaker 2: action shows where there was like a romantic love interest
- 47:01Speaker 2: and so that was really cool. It had an absolutely
- 47:04Speaker 2: incredible song that is still stuck in my head. The
- 47:09Speaker 2: Kim Possible Communicator was my ring tone for longer than
- 47:14Speaker 2: it should have been, and Honestly, it was great for
- 47:17Speaker 2: me because Kim Possible taught me that, like I didn't
- 47:21Speaker 2: have to do the fashion things, I could do like
- 47:23Speaker 2: the action things. Also, I didn't know if I wanted
- 47:25Speaker 2: to kiss Ron or her bully, and I didn't know
- 47:29Speaker 2: if I wanted to be doctor Dracken or she Go
- 47:31Speaker 2: when I grew up.
- 47:32Speaker 1: It was great, that's your time, good stuff, very very passionate.
- 47:38Speaker 1: I liked the first half was a touchbowl, like you
- 47:42Speaker 1: were working for the Disney marketing boards and explaining why
- 47:45Speaker 1: this is. It's got so much crossover appeal.
- 47:47Speaker 2: How do you know? I'm not.
- 47:49Speaker 1: That's a good point. But you brought it home really
- 47:52Speaker 1: well with feelings about all the various characters.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 47:56Speaker 1: You want to kiss who you want to be?
- 47:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Thoughts from of your fellow panelists on Kim Possible.
- 48:03Speaker 2: I loved that.
- 48:04Speaker 3: I loved every second of it. The naked mule rat
- 48:07Speaker 3: what was his name, rufus rufus disgusting. I wish he
- 48:13Speaker 3: was mentioned more than that at all.
- 48:16Speaker 2: That's that was an opportunity that was missed.
- 48:19Speaker 3: But other than that, no notes.
- 48:23Speaker 5: I think you made the right choice in not mentioning
- 48:25Speaker 5: that repugnant Rodent. I would have like some conversation about
- 48:32Speaker 5: like all the nachos and everything.
- 48:34Speaker 7: You know.
- 48:34Speaker 2: I feel like that that cheese.
- 48:36Speaker 5: Disney had a big thing with cheese, Like they were
- 48:38Speaker 5: really drawing you in with the cheese and a lot
- 48:40Speaker 5: of shows.
- 48:41Speaker 4: But also being paid the sexy green, big big nacho.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Yes she is that? Oh that was she go?
- 48:49Speaker 4: Uh huh.
- 48:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 48:51Speaker 2: One of my team names that I eliminated was she
- 48:53Speaker 2: go more like we go because I was just trying
- 48:56Speaker 2: to come up with any pun than I can't.
- 49:00Speaker 1: I should have said that in your speech. You would
- 49:01Speaker 1: have got five points, dang it. But instead I'm going
- 49:03Speaker 1: to give you four points out of five. Okay, again,
- 49:06Speaker 1: I also agree. I think I would have liked to
- 49:08Speaker 1: have heard about the naked mil rat. Okay, good stuff,
- 49:11Speaker 1: Well done. You are now dead, Ordra. You've died on
- 49:13Speaker 1: that You've died on the hill. That impossible is the best. Okay.
- 49:16Speaker 1: We're going to move on over to colon Dylan Sprouse
- 49:18Speaker 1: and I think we'll start with Cole Lauri and are
- 49:21Speaker 1: you are you ready to die on a hill?
- 49:23Speaker 5: I like, literally don't think I can. I'm like running
- 49:25Speaker 5: through things in my head and the only thing I
- 49:27Speaker 5: have is like not quite it's Disney Channel related, but
- 49:31Speaker 5: it's not quite Disney Channel.
- 49:34Speaker 1: I like that that's the idea that you're locking onto
- 49:36Speaker 1: and we'll see what happens once your minute is done.
- 49:39Speaker 2: But if I have a full minute, we're going to try.
- 49:43Speaker 1: What is it that you're willing to die on the hill?
- 49:46Speaker 1: Is the best Disney Channel thing.
- 49:47Speaker 5: I don't think we give enough credit to zach Efron
- 49:50Speaker 5: and what he did for all the other actors and
- 49:52Speaker 5: actresses on Disney Channel who have since risen from the
- 49:57Speaker 5: ashes of cable television to become movie stars pop stars.
- 50:01Speaker 5: Could hand a Montana exist without zach Efron and his abs.
- 50:05Speaker 2: And his swoopy hair. I don't think so.
- 50:07Speaker 5: Look at this man. See what this man has done
- 50:10Speaker 5: for the world. He went from not even singing his
- 50:13Speaker 5: own songs in high school musical to being in feature
- 50:16Speaker 5: films The Iron Claw. He has all these muscles. I
- 50:20Speaker 5: had a poster of zach Efron when I was perhaps
- 50:24Speaker 5: slightly too young to have this poster because he was
- 50:28Speaker 5: like had an eye from what I can visualize it
- 50:30Speaker 5: in my mind, like it's in front of me now.
- 50:32Speaker 5: He was in a white T shirt with his hand
- 50:35Speaker 5: under it, and I have vivid memories of my mom saying,
- 50:38Speaker 5: why is he naked and touching himself. He's doing it
- 50:41Speaker 5: for Disney Channel, Mom, He's doing it for Selena. He's
- 50:45Speaker 5: doing it for Keiky Palmer. She was on Nickelodeon. Maybe
- 50:48Speaker 5: I don't remember he did that. He put on that
- 50:51Speaker 5: white T shirt and got out in front of the
- 50:53Speaker 5: world for everybody on Disney Channel so they could have
- 50:56Speaker 5: true success.
- 50:58Speaker 1: That's your time, very well done. That's definitely zac Efron
- 51:02Speaker 1: is a piece of media, and I think you've just
- 51:04Speaker 1: argued it very succinctly. Any comments from the panel, especially
- 51:08Speaker 1: about that post.
- 51:09Speaker 4: I want to see it.
- 51:11Speaker 2: It's sexy. I'll find it.
- 51:13Speaker 3: I wish you would have mentioned his chin.
- 51:18Speaker 2: You know that's a have you heard. I believe him
- 51:22Speaker 2: that he fell, and I don't hear.
- 51:26Speaker 3: I won't hear.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Anything against it. I love zac Efron and I'll stand
- 51:29Speaker 2: beside him.
- 51:30Speaker 3: I mean, I think he's super sexy too, So don't
- 51:32Speaker 3: get me wrong.
- 51:33Speaker 2: I think you know.
- 51:35Speaker 3: Chin work or not, he still looks great in my book.
- 51:39Speaker 4: I was incredibly offended when you said that could handle
- 51:44Speaker 4: Montana exist without zac Effron. Of course she could of course, But.
- 51:49Speaker 5: Could Miley Cyrus exist without zac Efron.
- 51:52Speaker 2: You'd have to ask Billy Ray.
- 51:56Speaker 5: They all would be an obscurity. But zac Efron said,
- 51:59Speaker 5: we can do this, we can make it to the top.
- 52:02Speaker 5: He pulled them along with him, He hoisted that. They're
- 52:05Speaker 5: all on zac Efron's coattails. I can't think of anyone
- 52:08Speaker 5: before him who made it. All those other little dorks
- 52:11Speaker 5: fell off into the edge. I have the poster, but
- 52:15Speaker 5: I can't I don't know how to share it. But
- 52:16Speaker 5: it's the Rolling Stones cover of zac Efron, and it's
- 52:19Speaker 5: like when he became a man, and so did I.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Oh fantastic. I mean I felt, I felt the passion.
- 52:29Speaker 1: You would tappen into some genuine passion there, and that's
- 52:33Speaker 1: what this is all about into. Look, we'll see how
- 52:35Speaker 1: the final goat vote goes for who did best, but
- 52:37Speaker 1: I'm giving you the full five out of five points
- 52:39Speaker 1: for that. That was very passionate. Thank you.
- 52:43Speaker 2: Fine, Okay, you're loyalties. I see where they live with
- 52:47Speaker 2: zach Efron.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Look, you were a naked mule rat away. Okay, okay,
- 52:53Speaker 1: moving back on over to girls of the twenty first century, casey,
- 52:56Speaker 1: do you have a Disney Channel piece of media or
- 52:59Speaker 1: hunk that you're willing to die on the hill is
- 53:02Speaker 1: the best I do.
- 53:04Speaker 3: And this might be unexpected, but Phineas and Ferb. Okay,
- 53:11Speaker 3: let me tell you about Phineas and Verb and how
- 53:15Speaker 3: much it means to me. I think I was probably
- 53:18Speaker 3: a little bit too old to be watching Veineas in FB,
- 53:21Speaker 3: but it made an impact on my life because the
- 53:24Speaker 3: whole premise is that kids don't know what to do
- 53:28Speaker 3: with themselves during the summer. It's a dilemma as old
- 53:33Speaker 3: as mankind. And this show the creative limits none none.
- 53:41Speaker 3: These kids are building roller coasters in their backyard. They
- 53:45Speaker 3: are going to space. They are uncovering like the hidden
- 53:50Speaker 3: treasures of the earth, all within you know, a very
- 53:55Speaker 3: short window of time. Meanwhile, the characters, the character sure,
- 54:00Speaker 3: so let me tell you Ferb. I love that he
- 54:02Speaker 3: never talks. I mean, I just love it. I think it.
- 54:06Speaker 3: It really it speaks volumes for the people that are
- 54:09Speaker 3: maybe shy. They finally have a character to relate to.
- 54:12Speaker 3: And that's Erb because he's.
- 54:15Speaker 1: That's your time. I'm afraid.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Music.
- 54:21Speaker 1: The microphone has has been removed, has been.
- 54:25Speaker 3: God, there's so much more.
- 54:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I think she should lose a point for not
- 54:30Speaker 4: bringing up the plan.
- 54:31Speaker 2: Yes, I was kidding.
- 54:33Speaker 3: No, No, I had a lie in over here.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Interference only because Casey has picked the most lore heavy
- 54:45Speaker 2: and like has taken on the biggest challenge in describing
- 54:48Speaker 2: all of the wonderful things about this and that's the
- 54:51Speaker 2: only reason that those things weren't mentioned.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Okay, that's that's fair. You're arguing for your teammate. I understand. Look,
- 54:57Speaker 1: there was some strong, strong arguments there, but also in
- 55:00Speaker 1: finished arguments as well. However, you did have an actual child,
- 55:04Speaker 1: shut up and help make documents and wait, we don't
- 55:07Speaker 1: have kids, and way talking about the Disney Channel, so
- 55:09Speaker 1: you sound in the within the context, it sounded like
- 55:13Speaker 1: a stronger arguments. I'm gonna give you full points.
- 55:14Speaker 3: Okay, we'll take it.
- 55:15Speaker 5: I did not know Phineas and ferb were stepbrothers. Are
- 55:19Speaker 5: their life of Derek undertones? No, no, Dylan, what's the point.
- 55:28Speaker 2: All right, that's all I.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Have to be with Candace. I didn't even get to Candace,
- 55:32Speaker 3: but Ashley Tisdale, urb and Candace maybe I mean for yeah,
- 55:39Speaker 3: URBI Candace.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Wait what verb? And Candace, you're sick?
- 55:49Speaker 3: Are real biological siblings, Erb is the one that has
- 55:52Speaker 3: to be verbs. Yeah, he adapted.
- 55:55Speaker 2: Are they step siblings? Oh, there's step siblings.
- 55:57Speaker 7: You said.
- 55:58Speaker 3: No, Phineas and Candace are biological cool, Erb, that's a
- 56:07Speaker 3: found family and it's valid.
- 56:09Speaker 2: Okay. Are Phineas fireman Candace a threttle or no?
- 56:14Speaker 3: No, because Jeremy, it's Candace's boyfriend. That's the only reason.
- 56:20Speaker 3: Really cute, You're right.
- 56:24Speaker 2: I also remember Duffin Schmert's daughter and I was like, God,
- 56:28Speaker 2: she's so cool.
- 56:30Speaker 3: Smoking too, Yes, I was like, oh wow.
- 56:35Speaker 5: Speaking of smoking. Did everybody get a chance to click
- 56:38Speaker 5: on the eBay link I sent?
- 56:40Speaker 2: Not yet, that's the poster. Oh, and it's the memories
- 56:45Speaker 2: it's evoking in me.
- 56:46Speaker 5: I feel like I'm like sixteen years old again looking
- 56:49Speaker 5: at it and remembering, is it.
- 56:51Speaker 2: In this chat?
- 56:52Speaker 4: Oh yeah, not in this instagram that?
- 56:54Speaker 2: Oh no, oh my gosh.
- 56:57Speaker 4: Yes. Yeah, let's get it on the full scrade.
- 56:59Speaker 2: You get it on the fall screen so everybody can
- 57:01Speaker 2: see it. And I remember that good.
- 57:04Speaker 1: That does familiar.
- 57:07Speaker 2: I brought that ship to my dorm room. I had
- 57:10Speaker 2: that in college in my room shamelessly. It was perfect.
- 57:14Speaker 2: That's commitment.
- 57:16Speaker 3: Did you get it out of one of those magazines.
- 57:18Speaker 3: Do you guys remember this.
- 57:20Speaker 2: Was a full size that I purchased at Tarja. I'm
- 57:23Speaker 2: pretty sure they had those bins with them like rolled
- 57:26Speaker 2: up and you could like, oh, yeah, go through the portfolio.
- 57:30Speaker 2: What a beautiful time.
- 57:31Speaker 1: Good times when you can just scroll through hunks in
- 57:35Speaker 1: the shopping mall.
- 57:35Speaker 3: And don't do that anymore. No, actually, at five and
- 57:39Speaker 3: below they still do. But it's not like it's like
- 57:42Speaker 3: kittens and stuff. It's not uh not hunk.
- 57:46Speaker 1: That's a shame of boom kittens.
- 57:50Speaker 2: They don't have abs.
- 57:52Speaker 1: Elena, you're the last person to die on a hill.
- 57:56Speaker 1: Do you have a Disney Channel piece of media that
- 58:00Speaker 1: you say is the best?
- 58:01Speaker 4: Yeah, it's It's Smart House.
- 58:02Speaker 1: It's smart House. Okay, take it away.
- 58:05Speaker 4: I don't know about you all, but I've been dreaming
- 58:07Speaker 4: of having a smart house since I saw that movie,
- 58:11Speaker 4: That Smart House. She was your personal stylist, putting together
- 58:14Speaker 4: perfect outfits for you. There's a beautiful, beachy morning on
- 58:19Speaker 4: the wall when you wake up in the morning, and
- 58:21Speaker 4: then you're like, can I have a smoothie? And She's like,
- 58:23Speaker 4: here's seventeen different kinds of smoothie that you would like, Oh,
- 58:27Speaker 4: you had a party, let the carpet just absorb the
- 58:30Speaker 4: party down?
- 58:32Speaker 2: So good?
- 58:33Speaker 4: Did the smart house have a menty bee at the end?
- 58:37Speaker 2: She did?
- 58:38Speaker 4: Can't blame her. They did not appreciate her. Honestly, what
- 58:42Speaker 4: woman that's doing everything that she was doing is not
- 58:45Speaker 4: going to freak the fuck out that this is going on?
- 58:50Speaker 1: Uh oh yeah, don't worry. Only only you can fill
- 58:53Speaker 1: twelve more seconds with laughter if you'd like, Oh, wonderful,
- 58:58Speaker 1: especially if it's that LAUGHTA.
- 59:01Speaker 4: Smart house is the best. I still a lot lud.
- 59:04Speaker 1: Nice, good case for it, and good use of mensib
- 59:09Speaker 1: there as well. Any comments from your fellow panelists.
- 59:12Speaker 2: I do think it was a good representation that you
- 59:14Speaker 2: do not take your your smart house for granted. If you,
- 59:18Speaker 2: if you're lucky enough to have one, you better respect
- 59:20Speaker 2: that thing. Am I allowed to talk? Or am I dead?
- 59:24Speaker 2: I missed the real? Okay?
- 59:26Speaker 5: Look, I think yes, I agree with everything Elena said,
- 59:33Speaker 5: reasonable crash out.
- 59:35Speaker 2: I forgot so many of the details of that that what.
- 59:38Speaker 5: You said about the floor absorbing the liquids that was
- 59:42Speaker 5: the realest thing of all, was like, yes, just never
- 59:45Speaker 5: have any.
- 59:45Speaker 2: Like absorbed cops.
- 59:46Speaker 3: It was.
- 59:48Speaker 5: It was like an incinerator of garbage, and it would
- 59:51Speaker 5: possibly solve sustainability if we had smart houses, it seems like.
- 59:55Speaker 1: So I'm all in excellent. This was something I wasn't
- 59:59Speaker 1: theamiliar with, but I'm instantly sold on this as a Yeah,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: this would be the coolest as a kid.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: We'll watch it after this episode.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Seventeen different flavors of smoothise is out right.
- 1:00:12Speaker 8: I totally exaggerated that number, but I believe three. Yeah, right, okay,
- 1:00:20Speaker 8: good stuff. I'm gonna I'm gonna give you four out
- 1:00:22Speaker 8: of five for that.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: All right, all right, all right, I think I earned
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: all five.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Well, look, if there have been more cool reasons for
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: the smart house, I'll say that I have no other
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: reason other than the conceit is. I want the scores
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: to be as close as possible going into the next round.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: So four points. Okay. But now we come to the
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: all important bonus single point where we can act as
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: a bit of a democracy. Here, I'll go around for
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: each player and tell me who you think made the
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: best case. You can't vote for yourself, So Audre, who
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: do you think made the best case?
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: This is a tough one, Yes, because this is a
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: lot of very compelling arguments here. But I think I
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: am just for the fact that she sent the eBay
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: link to the poster to all of us. I will
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: give it to Laurian just for the extra bit of homework.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: Thank you, nice and Laurian.
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: I'm very compelled by Elena's memories of the smart House.
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: That evoked something deep and real in me, and I
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: would say, yeah, Dylan, Dylan Sprouse.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Every time Dylan Sprouse and Casey.
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: The competitive person in me wants to vote for Audra
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: because she's on my team.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: Sure, you can do that if you want to. Yeah, absolutely,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: you could just play the game.
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: But I will say I really enjoyed Laurian's hot take
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: and hill that she died on, but I'm going to
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: go with Audra because I'm competitive.
- 1:01:57Speaker 7: So.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: I respect it.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: So Elena, who do you think made the best case?
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: I'm also gonna go with Adre. She made me want
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: to like watch some work impossible and make that my
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: ring tone.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: I love it.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: That's very fair, that's very honest. Oh yeah, we didn't
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: even talk about the ring tone about that being your
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: do do do doo. I just did that perfect. That
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: was all the So the bonus point is going to
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Girls of the twenty first century. Audrey, you are resurrected.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: Everyone else died on their hill. I hope it was
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: worth it.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: I think it was. But that's just.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: Okay, good stuff. That's the end of the round. Let's
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: ask Selena Gomez to magic up the latest scores and
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: a new chart topping hit while she's at it. Get
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: on it, Benny, those that's a very modern reference.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Come yes, very that's so proud of you.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: Those scores are Girls of the twenty first century are
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: on seventeen points. Cole and Dylan Sprouse are on eighteen points.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: It's still muted. Round three next after these ads. It's
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: just like a Saturday morning ads for products between children's entertainment.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Try not to think about how messed up that all
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: is as a concept. Back soon. Round three is called
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Merch Table. For our regular listeners, we're going to be
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: changing up the rules a little bit. And if this
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: is your first time listening, this is how we've always
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: played the game. Shut up the rules. I will read
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: a genuine listing for a piece of Disney Channel merch
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: that I found this week on Etsy. I'll read the
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: full listing title and even drop an image in a
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: group chat. Then players will each write down a bid
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: for how much they think this item was listed for.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: Closest answers score points, closest answer scores more points, and
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: if you're pretty much spot on, we'll all go crazy
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: and balloons will fall from the ceiling or something like that.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: My goodness, that would be almost impossible. Are you ready
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: for your first item?
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: Ready?
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: Yeah, okay? So item number one Zac Efron Troy Bolton
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: High School musical leggings HSM funny movie meme song Gabriella.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: That is the title of the Etsy listing, and here
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: is the image of.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: Can we know the fabric? Yeah, we only get the title.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Cannot reveal anything other than the title and the image.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: You know it's on Etsy, so you know there's that
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: Etsy markup potentially.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: I love the one right in the middle with his
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: arms like up that's just across the crash. Oh biblical.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: And when you think you know how much that was
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: listed for? Right down a bit. First items always tough.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: We're always trying to gauge the temperature.
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: Yeah, like, what is this particular fandom, what's their ramage?
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: And also are they teenage, and do they have their
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: parents' credit cards? Yes?
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: They unreasonable with their money.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: I don't think teenagers know about high school musical nowadays.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: Oh okay, I thought it was really sad. Continued on,
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: they're buying these as a joke, rude.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: For our grandparents.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: That's probably activated.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: It's that boy you like, grandma.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Okay, does everyone have a guest for this? Yes, okay, Ordra,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: we'll start with you. What have you got written down?
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Twenty five twenty six.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: Twenty five twenty six? Okay? And Elena?
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: I guessed forty four dollars and forty four cents.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Forty four dollars and forty four cents.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: Laurian I guess thirty dollars flat flat.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: Thirty dollars. We love to see it.
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: And Casey thirty two ninety six.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: Okay. I like the specific numbers being put down here, Oldra,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: what was yours again?
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: Twenty five twenty six? We now need you to do
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: complex math to decide who is closest.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: No, I think we're pretty much there because the correct
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: answer is twenty six seventy two. So Audre, you're going
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: to get two points for that, I think, and I
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: think I'm also going to throw a point to Casey
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: in a point to Laurian for being pretty close in
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: the grand scheme of things. Sorry, Elena, but I think
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: you rightfully put on an Etsy markup that would normally
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: be there.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: I think you're right. I did they need to believe? Yes,
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: she was looking for one hundred percent cotton.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: They're just all right, Okay. Points can change rapidly in
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: this game. So let's have another item. Hillary Duff Buck Style, Fashion,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: Guys and More, two thousand and four, Lizzie Maguire, Aaron Carter,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: Hailey Duff, Amanda Movies.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Wait, so let us a magazine like a like a
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: style book. I feel like I've seen these.
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Yes, I want to give you the blurb as well.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: Can give you this side.
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll take it.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: Style, Fashion, Guy and More. Wow, what else is there?
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: You're right? Literally? What is more?
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: Okay? So it is like a book of Hillary duff fashion.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Yeah, not always bespoke items like those likings. Sometimes it's
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: just vintage stuff.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: How many of these were printed?
- 1:07:20Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: I know?
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: And like, was this? What's the condition?
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Does it have?
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: Like a condition? Reading?
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: It does? But I can't share it with you on Fred.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: Looking at the corners looks a little some lower left side.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Okay, everyone got a bid for this one?
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Yes, okay, Elena, what have you got for this?
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: I put thirteen dollars and thirteen cents thirteen thirteen, Laurian, I.
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: Said, ninety nine dollars. Shit, this is vintage Hillary Dove. Please,
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: she's still of two thousand.
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: For me, it's colectable. For this to be listed at
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: all means there's a market for it.
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: True, that's try why I feel. And I only chose
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: items that have had a sale, like at least one sale.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: So okay, Elena, one of us is going to be close.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: I love the range. Casey, what have you put for this?
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: Eighteen ninety nine.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: Eighteen ninety nine, that's that just seems like a book price.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: That's a good That's what books are in shops as
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Ordre fourteen twenty nine, fourteen twenty nine.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: I just like the weird numbers at the end.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: Yeah. No, there's a lot of that on Etsy, probably
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: for tax reasons, I don't know, I'm sure. So it's
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: it's funny that, Laurien that you said, like, what if
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: you would be right? I feel like I'm giving no
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: points to anyone for this because it's almost like directly
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: in the middle of things. Forty dollars is what this
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: is listed for.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: Oh, I was the closest.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you we're the closest, casey, So you are
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: getting the point for being technically the closest.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: Yes, a technical point still counts. I appreciate you saying
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: that twenty is right in the middle of thirteen and
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: one hundred.
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: That's yeah, exactly, well forty forty yeah, I was still.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Doing some pretty.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: Well, we'll ignore that the maths are terrible and move
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: on to the third item that I found on Etsy
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: that amused me so Nostalgic bundles gift for Vintage lovers
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: y two K birthday Party nineties present Disney Channel Nickelodeon brats.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: I don't like being called vintage.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Dang kind of got an assaulted.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: Yeah, that's an assortment camp rock with the microphone?
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: Is that a real karaoke mic? That's but I don't
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: feel like any of these items would help you throw
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: a birthday party for your child.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Again, it's possibly for your grandma.
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: Wait, this is like a little bit just one, it's
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: like a lot.

- 1:20:29Speaker 1: style of a TV guide listing for that piece of media.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Oh and there's a classic gate Leapers twist. You need
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: to draw the Disney ears in the air while you
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: say your answer, or I can't give you the point.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: Give me a magic.
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: That's not fair. Everyone has.

- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Yes, so yes, there are three things happening. Buzz in
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: with your time name and then say your answer while
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: drawing ears in the air.
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: Could you do your ears with a little more whimsy? Call?
- 1:21:32Speaker 7: Oh?
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: Is that what you meant? Yes?
- 1:21:36Speaker 7: Thank you.

- 1:21:45Speaker 2: wand they just have to have that in there.
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: Or when they would drop it that was so cute
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: and they were like.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Here we go. A trio of strangers with a shared
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: interest in true crime podcasts become friends.
