- 0:06Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett. All right, well, I want
- 0:16Speaker 1: to do this one leg up on news because the
- 0:21Speaker 1: picks are coming in at rapid pace, and we all
- 0:25Speaker 1: know the big controversial one than the one I don't
- 0:27Speaker 1: understand is Matt Gates for President Trump's attorney General. That's right,
- 0:34Speaker 1: Matt Gates, if you haven't heard already, was reportedly nominated
- 0:38Speaker 1: by Trump to be the age. But I've got maybe
- 0:43Speaker 1: a timfoil hat idea to this, because do you really
- 0:48Speaker 1: think Trump's stupid enough to think Gates would be nominated
- 0:51Speaker 1: and accepted by his peers in the Senate. No. I
- 0:57Speaker 1: think there's a bigger play here, and I think the
- 1:01Speaker 1: bigger play is simply this, And I might be going
- 1:06Speaker 1: on I'm saying this, and maybe I'm a little conspiratorial,
- 1:11Speaker 1: But what if Trump is playing, is doing one of
- 1:16Speaker 1: his tricks here. What if he knows Gates can't get
- 1:21Speaker 1: the nomination, won't be confirmed. Yep, makes him, you know,
- 1:28Speaker 1: says I pick him. Blah blah blah blah. I mean
- 1:31Speaker 1: Gates resigned right out of the gate after this was announced,
- 1:38Speaker 1: resigned right out of Congress. So you're telling me he
- 1:42Speaker 1: resigns from Congress if he doesn't get confirmed, I think
- 1:45Speaker 1: his political career for now, because we all know political
- 1:48Speaker 1: careers can resurrect themselves, but for now would be done.
- 1:53Speaker 1: But what if that's Trump's way of getting him out
- 1:56Speaker 1: of the government. You hang the carrot out there. He
- 2:01Speaker 1: knows Trump does. Gates would jump at the opportunity, only
- 2:09Speaker 1: to be rejected at the confirmation. Here there's no same
- 2:18Speaker 1: person that would approve Matt Gates. But I will tell
- 2:25Speaker 1: you what his picks are doing. It's showing Trump is
- 2:29Speaker 1: bucking the establishment. Remember in twenty sixteen, when all these
- 2:32Speaker 1: people were going to Trump Tower, I mean legacy politicians
- 2:36Speaker 1: for a job in his administration. Remember the heat he
- 2:40Speaker 1: got for picking Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State because
- 2:43Speaker 1: Tillerson wasn't with the government, he was a CEO, a businessman.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Now it didn't really work out as well, but I
- 2:54Speaker 1: felt he was really being pushed into picking legacy politicians.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Jeff Session, for example, as Attorney general. Here he's been
- 3:06Speaker 1: in Washington for those four years. He's been out of
- 3:09Speaker 1: Washington for the four years, but he stayed connected, and
- 3:13Speaker 1: he's really picked people that are not establishment. Isn't that
- 3:19Speaker 1: what he ran on in eight years ago, draining the swamp,
- 3:23Speaker 1: getting rid of the establishment. So I think he's really
- 3:27Speaker 1: fulfilling that agenda idea here by these dare I say,
- 3:33Speaker 1: off the wall picks except except for two people I
- 3:38Speaker 1: think make most sense in the roles. They've been picked
- 3:41Speaker 1: for Governor Mike Huckabee, former Governor Arkansas, as the ambassador
- 3:46Speaker 1: to Israel because he's worked with a lot of organizations
- 3:51Speaker 1: in Israel. He's a very pro Israel person and believes
- 3:58Speaker 1: in the State of Israel, in the Nation of Israel,
- 4:01Speaker 1: so that was a natural fit. And then I know
- 4:06Speaker 1: I keep talking about her. There you go. Gabby Telsea
- 4:12Speaker 1: Gabbard is the Director of National Intelligence, and I'm very
- 4:19Speaker 1: excited that she is part of the administration because, as
- 4:21Speaker 1: I said last night, the write vote counted, she's gonna
- 4:25Speaker 1: be d and I and most likely confirmed in that role.
- 4:28Speaker 1: No matter how much grilling she gets, she'll be confirmed.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I believe.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Secretary of State Marco Rubio that one doesn't really make
- 4:40Speaker 1: sense because he doesn't seem to be like a Secretary
- 4:43Speaker 1: of State type, So we'll see if he gets confirmed.
- 4:47Speaker 1: And I think everybody overreacting to all of these pics
- 4:51Speaker 1: in general need to understand one thing. Just because it's
- 4:55Speaker 1: a Republican led Senate now doesn't mean all these picts
- 4:58Speaker 1: are you get confirmed. I think Trump's just throwing it
- 5:02Speaker 1: out there, seeing how even the Republicans will react, and
- 5:10Speaker 1: then maybe he'll take back a few of these nominations.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I like Ratcliffe, John Ratcliffe because actually he was the
- 5:21Speaker 1: former d n I head under Trump. Now is CIA pick?
- 5:26Speaker 1: I like that. I don't think we've got a new
- 5:29Speaker 1: FBI pick, which means he might stick with Chris Ray
- 5:32Speaker 1: or better or for worse. Ray was also disappointed the
- 5:35Speaker 1: first term and it's stuck around. But the Gates thing
- 5:41Speaker 1: is fascinating because I think Rudy's too old to be
- 5:46Speaker 1: an Attorney general. We know that the ags in the
- 5:52Speaker 1: past have really sparred with Trump. I mean Bill Barr
- 5:56Speaker 1: wrote the book one damn Thing after another after his
- 6:00Speaker 1: term as the AG under under President Trump. It was
- 6:03Speaker 1: quite a lot. But but what I will say is
- 6:16Speaker 1: there has to be a younger voice as Attorney General.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Merrick Garland's been establishment forever and honestly, good riddance. You know,
- 6:30Speaker 1: this border crisis was on the rise, and what did
- 6:34Speaker 1: the DOJ do? They didn't give justice to the New
- 6:39Speaker 1: Yorkers here. They didn't really go after any of the
- 6:44Speaker 1: migrants that were violent. Now they went out to Donald Trump.
- 6:50Speaker 1: And I still think that backfired on this Biden administration
- 6:54Speaker 1: because look how many states Trump won. But it just
- 7:00Speaker 1: so happens. I was asked on Today's Joe Piscobo Show
- 7:05Speaker 1: this question about who I thought would be a good
- 7:14Speaker 1: attorney general in this trumble administration.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Take a listen, and Donaltrea goes Matt Gates for attorney general.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I'm thinking Matt Whittaker. You know, I like Matt Whitaker.
- 7:23Speaker 2: That's a good guy, a very smart guy. And something
- 7:26Speaker 2: in and Matt, and then Alex Garrett, you said, who
- 7:29Speaker 2: else did you were you thinking for attorney general? You
- 7:31Speaker 2: had have thought as well, all that Pauletta.
- 7:34Speaker 1: You think he's a little too extreme or would he
- 7:36Speaker 1: be a good one because you referenced him yesterday.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not sure. Yeah maybe, But but the thing
- 7:41Speaker 2: with with Gates, and I saw it immediately. It's like,
- 7:43Speaker 2: it's just this is why I will trust Donald Trump
- 7:47Speaker 2: in his choices and how he wants to do it.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And Joe went on to explain more you can find
- 7:56Speaker 1: out on the link below. But I do think this
- 8:01Speaker 1: Mark Poletta, who might be viewed as extreme, but he's
- 8:06Speaker 1: actually doing again something Trump promised the American people, because
- 8:18Speaker 1: here was what he tweeted out a couple of days ago.
- 8:26Speaker 1: This Mark Poletta, the Trump transition team lawyer. He warned
- 8:36Speaker 1: career DJ lawyers that those who refused to advance Trump's
- 8:39Speaker 1: agenda should resign or face the possibility of being fired.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I know, on the onset that looks like a guy
- 8:48Speaker 1: who says, well, if you don't if you want to
- 8:51Speaker 1: prosecute Trump while Trump's an office blah blah blah blah,
- 8:54Speaker 1: which is not usually practicing for the DJ as we've
- 8:57Speaker 1: been hearing about. But the idea of getting career, you know,
- 9:05Speaker 1: members of the government out is Isn't that why doage
- 9:09Speaker 1: was created the Department of Government Efficiency. We haven't even
- 9:12Speaker 1: gotten to the vivek Any law Musk tandem there, and
- 9:21Speaker 1: I think that's that's you know, we do need to
- 9:24Speaker 1: get out of government waste. Now. I've been telling my
- 9:28Speaker 1: family this and I feel strongly about this too. You know,
- 9:33Speaker 1: last term, I woke up every day having to find
- 9:35Speaker 1: myself defending the guy. And I don't know if I
- 9:41Speaker 1: have the energy to do that eight years later because
- 9:43Speaker 1: I did that every damn day when when he was
- 9:45Speaker 1: in present. But I will report when the media is
- 9:50Speaker 1: misreporting things and point out things the media is not
- 9:53Speaker 1: talking about. But I still want to keep this podcast
- 10:01Speaker 1: more about one leg on adaptability, accessibility, accountability, and that
- 10:10Speaker 1: also includes holding government agencies accountable even under a Trump presidence.
- 10:16Speaker 1: So I will do my best to do that and
- 10:18Speaker 1: holding the media accountable at the same time, because we
- 10:23Speaker 1: got to cut through the bs and find out what
- 10:26Speaker 1: the real thing is, even though that means we're talking
- 10:29Speaker 1: with people who are on the ends of these different places.
- 10:37Speaker 1: But Mark Pauletta was certainly talking like he wanted to
- 10:40Speaker 1: be the ag and root out the waste that could
- 10:46Speaker 1: be career politicians. And one of those guys is Jack Smith.
- 10:54Speaker 1: And isn't it funny that Jack Smith, the Special Council dude,
- 10:59Speaker 1: has now haul that his appeals in Florida against Trump
- 11:02Speaker 1: and is going to retire because he knows the rankings
- 11:05Speaker 1: on the wall. It's going to be a very interesting time.
- 11:10Speaker 1: But this time around, these picks are not chaotic, They
- 11:15Speaker 1: are strategic, and they show a man who has more
- 11:21Speaker 1: understanding of how the game works in Washington than he
- 11:25Speaker 1: did in twenty sixteen, his first transition. Nobody's gonna come
- 11:31Speaker 1: in begging, hand and hat for a job, because Trump's
- 11:33Speaker 1: not gonna let that happen. He's already got to play
- 11:35Speaker 1: it in money. And I'd rather that than the chaos
- 11:40Speaker 1: that was. Well, what appointment is going to do today?
- 11:42Speaker 1: What he knows, he's on track. He is on point,
- 11:48Speaker 1: and I think we need that kind of organization, don't
- 11:50Speaker 1: we as a country. Don't we crave that kind of organization.
- 11:59Speaker 1: How it hands out after January twentieth, I don't know.
- 12:05Speaker 1: But for now he's got his team in place, and
- 12:09Speaker 1: that's far more than I can say the first time around,
- 12:13Speaker 1: when everything was really it felt like up in the air,
- 12:16Speaker 1: And of course you want to hire a team for
- 12:20Speaker 1: your cabinet that's not going to resign a few months in.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Remember it was like a revolving door that first year.
- 12:26Speaker 1: There was Sessions gone and Matt Whitaker took over. It
- 12:31Speaker 1: was Tillerson, and then you know another guy in secretary.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I mean Tillerson didn't last long either. Those two come
- 12:40Speaker 1: to mind because they resigned fairly early on in the administration.
- 12:46Speaker 1: But this one. It might be a loyalty thing quote
- 12:51Speaker 1: unquote with Trump, but but it's also a I'm not
- 13:02Speaker 1: gonna let Washington tell me who I'm gonna pick. I'm
- 13:04Speaker 1: gonna make these picks myself. And that show of independence
- 13:10Speaker 1: away from the establishment voices will play into a into
- 13:14Speaker 1: his second term way better than when he listened to
- 13:19Speaker 1: estallagment voices like dare I say Anthony Fauci in twenty twenty,
- 13:29Speaker 1: that's the biggest assallagine voice he listened to, and that
- 13:34Speaker 1: caused chaos. And I think Trump's learned from that alone
- 13:39Speaker 1: to not listen to these people who we pay tax
- 13:43Speaker 1: dollars too. He's saying, you know how we're gonna make
- 13:48Speaker 1: the tax dollars work by picking people I know can
- 13:52Speaker 1: run the country best. And Tom Holman talking tough, but
- 14:03Speaker 1: at least we're getting something from the borders are. And
- 14:07Speaker 1: I haven't said this on there anywhere yet, but I
- 14:08Speaker 1: will say it here on my own podcast. First, wasn't
- 14:13Speaker 1: Kamala Harris a borders are in name only? And wasn't
- 14:19Speaker 1: she just more bizarre than the borders are? I'll let
- 14:24Speaker 1: you think about that. On the wall that got network,
- 14:27Speaker 1: I'm Alex Garrett. Trump picks fast and furious, but not
- 14:33Speaker 1: not in a disorganized way. He's wrapped up. He is
- 14:39Speaker 1: much organized than he was in twenty sixteen, and that
- 14:44Speaker 1: could only be better for this country. I won't keep
- 14:51Speaker 1: an eye on it for you. I'm Alex Garrett. I
- 14:54Speaker 1: have a great night.
