- 0:20Speaker 1: I was, let me do this right quick. Come, Mother McCaskey,
- 0:23Speaker 1: just stand with me for just a moment. She and
- 0:25Speaker 1: I were talking. This is my spiritual mother. She is
- 0:30Speaker 1: my sweetheart. And I leaned back and told her because
- 0:34Speaker 1: years and years ago when I was a teenager... I
- 0:38Speaker 1: got saved and got Spirit-filled, and I was in the
- 0:40Speaker 1: church for about 18 months and backslid. And she scarcely
- 0:46Speaker 1: knew me. She was an evangelist traveling all over the country.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I think initially you were in Atlanta at that time,
- 0:53Speaker 1: weren't you? She's now pastoring. She was in Scottsdale. Now
- 0:57Speaker 1: she's pastoring the House of Prayer and Deliverance in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I hear you. And when she came to town to
- 1:05Speaker 1: run the revival, instead of laying up in the hotel
- 1:08Speaker 1: or in somebody's house taking it easy, she heard that
- 1:12Speaker 1: that boy, Jake, sat back slid. And she said, where
- 1:17Speaker 1: is Jake sat? And I was working in a men's
- 1:22Speaker 1: clothing store. She used to preach in these long dresses.
- 1:34Speaker 1: And she'd have on prayer caps and a long white
- 1:36Speaker 1: dress and a big cross on. And she didn't change
- 1:39Speaker 1: clothes when she went downtown. She went downtown looking sanctified
- 1:43Speaker 1: just like she wasn't trying to be contemporary. I looked
- 1:46Speaker 1: up and it looked like an angel was standing in
- 1:48Speaker 1: the door. And I was trying to hurry up and
- 1:51Speaker 1: get over there because I didn't want her to go off,
- 1:53Speaker 1: you know. She's standing in the door where I was
- 1:56Speaker 1: talking about, what is this I hear about you in
- 1:58Speaker 1: back sleeves? She said, the devil is alive. She used
- 2:05Speaker 1: to call everybody sugar love. You know you my sugar love.
- 2:09Speaker 1: She said, you come on out to this church. And
- 2:12Speaker 1: I really didn't want to go, but I wanted her
- 2:14Speaker 1: to go.
- 2:15Speaker 2: So I said, okay. I said, I'm coming, I'm coming.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I'm going to be there for two weeks and I
- 2:21Speaker 1: want to see. I'm going to be there. I'm going
- 2:22Speaker 1: to be there just to get out the door. I
- 2:24Speaker 1: was smelling like cigarette smoke and everything. And I was
- 2:26Speaker 1: trying to find my Listerine right quick. Oh, I don't
- 2:34Speaker 1: mind telling you. I ain't always been saved. You ain't either.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I dare you to look at me funny. I double
- 2:38Speaker 1: dare you. Much reefer and stuff you didn't smoke. Don't
- 2:42Speaker 1: you look at me funny.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I'll go off.
- 2:48Speaker 1: You know what impressed me? A lot of folks sent
- 2:51Speaker 1: for me. And a lot of folks talked about me.
- 2:56Speaker 1: But she came to get me. And if she hadn't
- 3:00Speaker 1: come and got me... I couldn't have come without you.
- 3:06Speaker 1: You know, God is not a line. Because a lining
- 3:12Speaker 1: has a beginning and an end. God is a circle.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And you've come full circle. I want to welcome you home.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I will throw my arms around. I'll never forget. It was,
- 3:29Speaker 2: I believe it was like on a Tuesday morning. And
- 3:32Speaker 2: I was in this store and it was called JCPenney's.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And I love to go there because my phone didn't
- 3:40Speaker 2: get a signal in the JCPenney's store. So it was like, cool,
- 3:44Speaker 2: I could just walk around and nobody's going to interrupt
- 3:46Speaker 2: me or anything. And so I'm walking around this JCPenney's
- 3:49Speaker 2: store looking for a little boy suit. And my phone rings,
- 3:53Speaker 2: which totally shocked me because it never rings like that.
- 3:57Speaker 2: So I'm looking at it and it's like blocked call.
- 4:00Speaker 2: So I'm thinking it's my husband or whatever. And I'm
- 4:02Speaker 2: shocked that I didn't even rang. But as I answered it,
- 4:07Speaker 2: I knew I had no signal strength. And when I
- 4:11Speaker 2: answered it, there was a voice on the other line.
- 4:13Speaker 2: And he goes, Cheryl? And I'm like, yes. And he goes,
- 4:19Speaker 2: this is Bishop, Bishop Jakes. And I said, hey, Bishop.
- 4:23Speaker 2: At that point, I'm like, I don't even want to move, okay?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Because I know I'm going to get disconnected at any moment.
- 4:29Speaker 2: And so I'm like, Hey, he said, you know, I've
- 4:31Speaker 2: been thinking about you. Your ears must be burning because
- 4:34Speaker 2: we've been thinking about you. We've been talking about you.
- 4:36Speaker 2: And he said, I want to ask you a question.
- 4:39Speaker 2: He said, I just want to ask you if, if
- 4:41Speaker 2: y'all will pray about coming home. And he started just
- 4:46Speaker 2: casting a little bit of vision about what he wanted
- 4:50Speaker 2: to see with the Potter's house North. And I just
- 4:54Speaker 2: stood there. I was like frozen, not just because of
- 4:57Speaker 2: my signal, but It was so impactful because I knew
- 5:00Speaker 2: it was a destiny moment. And it proved to me
- 5:03Speaker 2: that you can wake up one morning and think you
- 5:07Speaker 2: know exactly how your life is going to pan out.
- 5:11Speaker 2: But then there comes one phone call, one text message,
- 5:13Speaker 2: one email, just one little contact. And it can totally
- 5:20Speaker 2: set your feet on the path to the next level,
- 5:25Speaker 2: the next season in your life, even when you least
- 5:27Speaker 2: expect it. And that day, I mean, I had been busy.
- 5:31Speaker 2: You know, I'd been traveling and preaching and pastoring the
- 5:33Speaker 2: church there in North Carolina. But that day, I'm telling you,
- 5:39Speaker 2: it changed my life forever. A lot of people had
- 5:42Speaker 2: called for me. They had called for me to come
- 5:45Speaker 2: to preach in different places. But Bishop Jakes, he came
- 5:50Speaker 2: after me. And the rest is history. You know, God
- 5:54Speaker 2: is a God of patterns. He does everything in patterns.
- 5:58Speaker 2: This pattern is really no different. Mother McCaskill came after
- 6:02Speaker 2: Bishop Jakes. Bishop Jakes came after me. Watch out North Dallas,
- 6:07Speaker 2: because we are coming after you. Thank you.
