- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, I had a remarkable experience on Saturday. I went
- 0:03Speaker 1: to see our friend Bad Brad Wheeler, who has organized
- 0:08Speaker 1: this is He's done this three times. Now, I think
- 0:12Speaker 1: docks and races and it is pretty amazing. Now, I
- 0:17Speaker 1: had no idea what I was getting into. First of all,
- 0:19Speaker 1: I didn't know that Mill Creek Commons. I had no
- 0:23Speaker 1: idea what that was. That's a pretty cool place. I mean,
- 0:26Speaker 1: it's a great facility. But you put six thousand people
- 0:29Speaker 1: in there in the rain, it's packed.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I don't know where you fit them all.
- 0:33Speaker 1: It's packed. But it was docks and racing and these
- 0:38Speaker 1: dogs dogs, Wiener dogs. Yeah, and these Wieners really some
- 0:43Speaker 1: of them really like to run, and then some of
- 0:45Speaker 1: them don't know what they're doing. But there were one
- 0:48Speaker 1: hundred and fifty wieners, thirty races. Bad Brad Wheeler calling
- 0:53Speaker 1: all the races. Now, give you an idea of what
- 0:56Speaker 1: some of them like. I took a video. I think
- 0:59Speaker 1: we'll play it now if you go to X ninety
- 1:00Speaker 1: six dot com live here here it is. This guy
- 1:04Speaker 1: had his Wiener This was Bruskie Bruski is his name.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Wiener dog dressed as a hot dog.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Yeah, he put a hot dog costume on his dog,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and and he won his his race, He won his
- 1:19Speaker 1: heat stuff on it. Yeah, wearing that, I thought that
- 1:23Speaker 1: was pretty amazing. Uh. Some of the So what they
- 1:26Speaker 1: do is they they take somebody who's really the dog
- 1:31Speaker 1: is really bonded to down at the other end, down
- 1:34Speaker 1: at the finish line, and I think there are treats
- 1:36Speaker 1: waiting for them down there, and they they and Brad
- 1:39Speaker 1: calls the races, Wieners to your marks, and then he
- 1:44Speaker 1: for every race, he plays the race call, you know,
- 1:48Speaker 1: on his harmonica.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Oh that was harmonica. Yeah, okay, Yeah, they'll send me
- 1:53Speaker 3: some video that I'm trying to currently ship over to Katie.
- 1:57Speaker 3: By the way, if you want no sound, what's her?
- 2:00Speaker 3: But yeah, that is. It looked awesome. It looked incredible.
- 2:04Speaker 1: It was really amazing, and I really sort of developed
- 2:09Speaker 1: a love of those little dogs. They're wiener dogs. They
- 2:12Speaker 1: every single one of them was very nice. One of
- 2:14Speaker 1: them growled at me, only one. Yeah, but the rest
- 2:17Speaker 1: of them are like, you know, you go, hi, how
- 2:19Speaker 1: are you? And they like they're kind of shy and
- 2:21Speaker 1: they made a hunt vermit. Yeah, they go down into burrows. Now. Coincidentally,
- 2:28Speaker 1: I have another picture of a wiener dog here, Katie,
- 2:30Speaker 1: you'll put that up at x ninety six dot com.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Slash law. Now this is this is a sad story
- 2:35Speaker 1: about wiener dogs. My sister in law has for years
- 2:39Speaker 1: been involved in docent rescue. She has an organization called
- 2:45Speaker 1: Docs and Rescue of Utah and they just received twenty
- 2:49Speaker 1: five doxies from a hoarding situation in Apple Valley, California.
- 2:54Speaker 1: They've never had any medical dum on their lives, Spain,
- 2:57Speaker 1: new their vaccinations, none of that. They need, deworming, t eatment, flea, dermatitis,
- 3:02Speaker 1: seniors needing dental and all of that. Uh and we
- 3:06Speaker 1: So she needs foster's for some of the old dogs
- 3:09Speaker 1: so that they can potty train them. Foster applications if
- 3:12Speaker 1: you want to foster, not not adopt, but just take
- 3:16Speaker 1: care of for a little while while they get get better.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Foster a doccent. You can go to Docs and Rescue
- 3:21Speaker 1: of Utah dot com or there's also a Facebook page
- 3:25Speaker 1: Docs and Rescue. There are applications there if you want
- 3:29Speaker 1: to foster. But that little guy is one of the
- 3:31Speaker 1: rescues and they just they just bathed them and it
- 3:35Speaker 1: just looks so sad and lonely and you know, so
- 3:38Speaker 1: if you can help out with that, that would be great.
- 3:42Speaker 1: It's it's it's a it's really important. And she's she
- 3:46Speaker 1: doesn't know what to do. She is there are twenty
- 3:48Speaker 1: five dogs here, and I've got to fine places to
- 3:51Speaker 1: take care of them. And she's been doing this for years.
- 3:54Speaker 1: She's always had dosents herself. And there they are. Really
- 3:58Speaker 1: I've forgotten what charming sweet little animals mostly they are.
- 4:02Speaker 3: You know, what you do is you adopt one and
- 4:04Speaker 3: then you train it for next year's race.
- 4:08Speaker 1: This is a big deal, you know. When when Brad
- 4:11Speaker 1: has put out the call, he said, first time he
- 4:13Speaker 1: did it, he had no idea that there would be
- 4:16Speaker 1: so many people responding, Yeah, I'll bring my my wienie
- 4:20Speaker 1: to race. My wienie well up to race. And so
- 4:25Speaker 1: he'll be doing another one sometime in the future.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Did you throw any money around?
- 4:28Speaker 1: No? I didn't. No, I didn't. He let me. He
- 4:30Speaker 1: let me call a couple of the you know races,
- 4:34Speaker 1: so that was kind of fun.
- 4:35Speaker 3: But what uh? Who was the winner at the end
- 4:39Speaker 3: of the you know, oh, Hendrix Hendrix that you talked
- 4:41Speaker 3: about it.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Hendricks Hendrix was the winner, and I forget Hendrix's I
- 4:46Speaker 1: think I was the one who introduced Hendrix to the
- 4:48Speaker 1: starting line, but I can't remember much about him other ThM.
- 4:52Speaker 3: So you fix the race, is what you're telling me.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Oh, Katie says, she has another. Do we have time
- 4:55Speaker 1: to run another?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Quick little I mean, it's just be real footage that
- 4:58Speaker 3: I put together of what you sent me.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you can run. You can run that. I
- 5:02Speaker 1: think there's hen or No, that's uh Bruski. See what
- 5:07Speaker 1: a nice little dog he is.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Brusky, they're nimble, they're actually very agile.
- 5:12Speaker 1: When they get running. This so this is some This
- 5:14Speaker 1: gives you some idea of the crowd in the rain. Yeah,
- 5:17Speaker 1: it was raining, it was kind of cold, and uh,
- 5:21Speaker 1: it was just amazing. Oh this is the.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Lett them go look at them X ninety six dot

- 5:29Speaker 3: the rain.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that was a pretty good heat. Sometimes Oh that
- 5:33Speaker 1: I was down at the finish line for that one.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Well we'll put this up on social media, Yeah, so
- 5:37Speaker 2: that you can see it.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah, look at them, go. That was a good heat
- 5:40Speaker 1: because that one. No, I'm that one doesn't want and
- 5:46Speaker 1: sometimes they're they're really stupid and they stay around at
- 5:50Speaker 1: the start line looking what am I? But mostly they
- 5:53Speaker 1: like to run.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Father, I'm made of sugar. I will melt in this rain.
- 5:57Speaker 2: My first exposure to a docks and was Uh. I
- 6:00Speaker 2: was a little kid, and we went down to California
- 6:04Speaker 2: to see my dad's army buddy, uncle cal Carow. Yeah
- 6:07Speaker 2: calum Ian cows from Louisiana. Uh. But we we stayed
- 6:13Speaker 2: at their house, and so he set up a little
- 6:15Speaker 2: place for me to sleep on the floor and his
- 6:18Speaker 2: wooden floors throughout the house. And their dog Hidie, Heidi Hidie,
- 6:23Speaker 2: their little wiener dog. Hidie had long nails. Oh yeah,
- 6:27Speaker 2: so it walked across the wooden that click click click
- 6:31Speaker 2: click in the middle of the night. I didn't want
- 6:33Speaker 2: to come in and say hi, click click click click.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Was he a gruff guy?
- 6:40Speaker 2: Your uncle uncle cal No, he was a friendly friendly
- 6:43Speaker 2: got you racist as hell?
- 6:45Speaker 1: But yeah, I was gonna ask, I have I have
- 6:47Speaker 1: a story about a weeny dog that I grew up
- 6:50Speaker 1: with in my neighborhood. Speaking of racist, but I can't
- 6:53Speaker 1: tell you the dog's name. But and my and I
- 6:58Speaker 1: didn't you know, I mean, I was just a kid.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I didn't really even think about it until I was older,
- 7:04Speaker 1: and I think, wait a minute, that dog was named
- 7:07Speaker 1: Oh my.
- 7:08Speaker 2: God, Well yeah, all right, anyway, that that looked like
- 7:15Speaker 2: a lot of fun.
- 7:16Speaker 1: It was like a lot of fun, fun, and the
- 7:18Speaker 1: crowd is great, and there were a lot of a
- 7:19Speaker 1: lot of friends of the Radio from Hell program there
- 7:22Speaker 1: and got people dying all around me.
- 7:25Speaker 2: You think I get upset because the dog gets run over?
- 7:28Speaker 2: Why should I get upset about about a little dog?
- 7:31Speaker 1: All right? Oh the oh the brother of I can't
- 7:34Speaker 1: think of her name right now, the brother of Gary
