- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Kraken This Morning, a presentation of the Kraken
- 0:05Speaker 1: Audio Network and Sports Radio 93.3 KJR FM. Here's Mike Benton.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Needless to say, the Seattle Kraken passed a pretty big
- 0:15Speaker 2: test back on Tuesday night, and they have... a mammoth
- 0:18Speaker 2: one on their hands potentially this evening. Welcome to Kraken
- 0:22Speaker 2: this morning on a Thursday, October 22nd. Mike Benton with
- 0:26Speaker 2: you in the Kraken. Take on the Utah Mammoth this
- 0:28Speaker 2: evening in the first of three matchups, and national TV's
- 0:32Speaker 2: got the game here for tonight at Climate Pledge Arena.
- 0:34Speaker 2: So we are your only local source for broadcast coverage
- 0:38Speaker 2: for a 7 o'clock face-off. Airtime is at 630 on
- 0:42Speaker 2: the Global Credit Union Kraken Audio Network. Ever if it's you.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Al Koniski from the booth. Me right with you, back
- 0:48Speaker 2: by the Coors Light landing in Section 20. Al joins
- 0:51Speaker 2: me up to an hour after the final horn for
- 0:53Speaker 2: postgame coverage, concluding with talking Kraken live from Tom's Watch Bar.
- 0:59Speaker 2: We will hear in a little bit from Adrian Denny,
- 1:02Speaker 2: broadcast host on the Mammoth Radio side, as we'll dive
- 1:05Speaker 2: into a pretty busy offseason for Bill Armstrong and that
- 1:08Speaker 2: crew after they got past 40 wins, made the playoffs,
- 1:12Speaker 2: yet still finished fourth in the Central. However, turned a
- 1:16Speaker 2: few heads as far as the direction that they're heading for.
- 1:19Speaker 2: with seven wins in their first ten games, and right
- 1:22Speaker 2: now with a lights-out offensive core. Before Adrian joins us,
- 1:26Speaker 2: a little bit of a recap here from Tuesday night
- 1:29Speaker 2: with the Kraken looking for their first regular season series
- 1:32Speaker 2: sweep of the Red Wings since the 2022 season. and
- 1:35Speaker 2: 23 season. If the first matchup told us a little bit,
- 1:39Speaker 2: the indications returning said the Kraken could have their hands
- 1:43Speaker 2: full at the wrong time with plenty of skill on
- 1:46Speaker 2: the Red Wings side. Nonetheless, the Kraken came back home
- 1:49Speaker 2: after a five-game road trip determined to hit the gas
- 1:54Speaker 2: in period one.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Now the Kraken are back in. Here comes Stevenson. Hands
- 1:57Speaker 1: it off.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Sam O'Skevich fires.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Scores!
- 2:07Speaker 3: It's the return of the Mack! Mackie Samuskiewicz back.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Home in Seattle on the Kraken.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Have a 1-0 lead, 13-15 to play in the first.
- 2:18Speaker 3: A great zone exit. We talk a lot about first passes.
- 2:21Speaker 3: This time out of the zone it's that first pass
- 2:23Speaker 3: goes right to Chandler Stephenson. Gets down that left side.
- 2:26Speaker 3: He's got Samuskiewicz trailing behind him. leaves a nice drop
- 2:29Speaker 3: pass to him, creates some offense, or excuse me, some
- 2:33Speaker 3: interference with the defensemen of Detroit. Sam Miscavige has lots
- 2:36Speaker 3: of time to put this one home. Blocker side, 1-0 Seattle.
- 2:40Speaker 3: In the slot, hands it off, Riker Evans scores!
- 2:45Speaker 2: Riker Evans, all the time in the world.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Walks into the high slot.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Bangs one in. Fast terrace off. 2-0 Seattle. I don't
- 3:01Speaker 3: know if this will go down as a power play
- 3:02Speaker 3: goal partner, but it was a nice pass under the
- 3:04Speaker 3: corner to Raker Evans. As you said, tons of time
- 3:08Speaker 3: to get his head up, pick his spot. He's got
- 3:10Speaker 3: a second of the year. They're cracking up their second
- 3:12Speaker 3: of the night. They're up 2-0.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Katt wins the faceoff.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Montour scores!
- 3:23Speaker 3: A clean face-off win, left circle, and Brandon Montour steps
- 3:27Speaker 3: into a bomb from the high slot, and the Kraken
- 3:30Speaker 3: kick the field goal. They're up 3-0 with 3.59 to
- 3:33Speaker 3: play in the second. Starts with a face-off win. Berkley
- 3:37Speaker 3: Catten out to Brandon Montour. A quick shot on net.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Brandon Montour's got his first of the year. Snapping it
- 3:44Speaker 3: past Tarasov. Nothing, yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Here's side red line, dumps it in.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Seattle turns it over, Larkin, back door, to Brinkett, scores.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Played off the wall. The Kraken have it, they turn
- 4:09Speaker 3: it over, and the Red Wings. A six on four
- 4:14Speaker 3: power play backdoor tap in.
- 4:16Speaker 2: We're tied at three. 16.3 left in the third.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Once again, Dylan Larkin. The game resting on his stick.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Grubauer comes out of his crease.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Larkin with speed. Left circle.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Now to the middle of the slot.
- 4:30Speaker 1: He shoots.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Big save by Philip Grubauer.
- 4:34Speaker 3: And the Seattle Kraken take the extra point for three
- 4:38Speaker 3: in a shootout.
- 4:39Speaker 2: There you have it. Edgier seed stuff in a 4-3
- 4:42Speaker 2: Kraken shootout win over the Red Wings, fending off a
- 4:45Speaker 2: three-goal rally by Detroit in the third period, and the
- 4:49Speaker 2: Kraken earned that sweep in a two-game set over Detroit
- 4:53Speaker 2: for the first time in four years. To note, Brandon
- 4:56Speaker 2: Montour dug deep in his return to the lineup. He
- 5:00Speaker 2: played a whopping 30 minutes. and 44 seconds while scoring
- 5:04Speaker 2: his first goal of the season. That's a new franchise
- 5:07Speaker 2: high for most minutes in one game, sixth most of
- 5:11Speaker 2: any NHL skater this season. So despite a rough and
- 5:15Speaker 2: dusty third period, the Kraken find a way to dust
- 5:17Speaker 2: themselves off, getting ready here for the second game of
- 5:21Speaker 2: this road trip, which should be a tough one. That
- 5:24Speaker 2: leads us here to tonight's matchup, and it's going to
- 5:26Speaker 2: be a good one. The Kraken taking on the Utah
- 5:28Speaker 2: Mammoth in the first matchup of the regular season. And
- 5:31Speaker 2: the beloved Adrian Denny joining us now, host for the
- 5:35Speaker 2: Mammoth on KSL SportsZone, 97.5 FM and 1280 AM. Adrian,
- 5:41Speaker 2: happy hockey season. Hope you're doing all right. And we're
- 5:44Speaker 2: a few weeks in. So this question is, I think,
- 5:46Speaker 2: closer here to the expiration date. But how is your summer?
- 5:49Speaker 2: And how do you summarize the man of the summer
- 5:52Speaker 2: as well?
- 5:53Speaker 4: Both busy summers, Mike. Bill Armstrong and Chris Armstrong and
- 5:58Speaker 4: Mammoth ownership. went into the off season with some items
- 6:03Speaker 4: of focus after reviewing the Las Vegas series where the
- 6:08Speaker 4: Mammoth led in the third period in the first five
- 6:11Speaker 4: games and lost in six. So one of those items
- 6:16Speaker 4: was we just needed more net front presence. And I
- 6:20Speaker 4: think over the two years of the NHL in Utah,
- 6:24Speaker 4: that's probably the number one thing you could look at
- 6:26Speaker 4: and say, we could use a little more of that.
- 6:29Speaker 4: And yeah, So on July 1st, in a 10-minute span,
- 6:32Speaker 4: they signed Anders Lee to a three-year contract, the eight-year
- 6:35Speaker 4: captain of the Islanders, a 14-year NHL veteran who's had
- 6:39Speaker 4: 19 or more goals in every full season he's played
- 6:42Speaker 4: but one. And Vinny Trocek, who... is a guy that
- 6:49Speaker 4: it's always in front of the net. I watched every
- 6:50Speaker 4: single goal he scored last year. He's, he's either got
- 6:54Speaker 4: the puck and making something happen. And if he doesn't
- 6:56Speaker 4: have the puck, he's in front of the net. So
- 6:58Speaker 4: those were two big items that, that the mammoth were,
- 7:02Speaker 4: were after and two guys that a lot of other
- 7:06Speaker 4: teams wanted to. So, you know, all the credit to
- 7:11Speaker 4: ownership and the mammoth management and, everything they've done to
- 7:17Speaker 4: lay the, lay the path for Utah becoming a destination
- 7:22Speaker 4: spot in the NHL in the first two seasons, starting
- 7:24Speaker 4: with the Select Health Ice Center, like, like the Kraken,
- 7:28Speaker 4: you know, a top NHL practice facility that the team has. And,
- 7:33Speaker 4: and just, just want to make sure that, that everybody
- 7:35Speaker 4: knows that Utah is here to, to win. And we,
- 7:40Speaker 4: we want the best and we want people to love
- 7:43Speaker 4: it here. And, Fortunately, we feel that Utah as a state,
- 7:47Speaker 4: as a, you know, as a community in Salt Lake
- 7:50Speaker 4: City makes it pretty easy from that standpoint. So successful
- 7:53Speaker 4: summer for the Mammoth and off to a seven and
- 7:56Speaker 4: three start here. And, you know, the guys on this team,
- 8:01Speaker 4: they've all got similar DNA. You can tell who's drafted them,
- 8:05Speaker 4: who's signed them and what they've all been looking for
- 8:08Speaker 4: when they, you know, acquire players, draft players, develop players,
- 8:13Speaker 4: and that's players that are obsessed with hockey. So guys
- 8:16Speaker 4: like Clayton Keller, Logan Cooley, Nick Schmaltz, Dylan Gunther all
- 8:19Speaker 4: went home sour and upset that they lost in the
- 8:23Speaker 4: first round of the playoffs and didn't win that series.
- 8:25Speaker 4: And I think they all went back and re-examined everything
- 8:29Speaker 4: and agreed with the assessment that we need more net
- 8:32Speaker 4: front traffic. And, you know, Nick Schmaltz, who scored 25%
- 8:38Speaker 4: of his goals within 15 feet of the net during
- 8:40Speaker 4: his career has scored six of seven this season within
- 8:43Speaker 4: 15 feet. And, and it's, it's you know, something that
- 8:47Speaker 4: the mammoth are leading the NHL right now. And, and
- 8:50Speaker 4: that's goals from within 15 feet of the net and
- 8:52Speaker 4: everything we just talked about versus last year being in
- 8:55Speaker 4: the bottom third of the NHL. So that's that. And,
- 8:58Speaker 4: and for me, Ben's a busy summer. I, I, I moved.
- 9:04Speaker 4: It was the first time that, that I've ever moved
- 9:07Speaker 4: and didn't have to be someplace the next day. Uh,
- 9:10Speaker 4: but you know, it was, it was a special move being,
- 9:13Speaker 4: being back in Salt Lake and in Utah where I'm from. Um,
- 9:17Speaker 4: you know, it's been a great two years here and, uh,
- 9:20Speaker 4: made that move into the, uh, the forever home. So, um, selling,
- 9:26Speaker 4: selling my place and getting the new place and getting
- 9:29Speaker 4: everything moved, uh, was, was a lot as you know,
- 9:33Speaker 4: to real estate transactions and, There's always something, and everybody
- 9:38Speaker 4: always has a story, which I won't bore you with.
- 9:40Speaker 4: But I got into the new place on August 19th,
- 9:43Speaker 4: and it's been amazing. So for me and the Mammoth,
- 9:47Speaker 4: great summers.
- 9:48Speaker 2: No, we've had plenty of stories here to share over
- 9:50Speaker 2: the years as far as the hockey world is concerned,
- 9:51Speaker 2: as Adrian Denny joining us right now on Kraken this morning.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I'll get back here to the roster part of this
- 9:56Speaker 2: here in just a bit. But you've been a big,
- 9:59Speaker 2: big piece recently. of hockey and its growth within the
- 10:02Speaker 2: state and within the boundaries of Salt Lake City previously.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Coming up the ranks, the Utah Grizzlies, I argue there
- 10:09Speaker 2: might not be a more synonymous name as far as
- 10:12Speaker 2: longevity with that organization who was front and center each
- 10:16Speaker 2: and every night. So Compare the growth of hockey in
- 10:20Speaker 2: Utah from 20 years ago to now. How do you
- 10:23Speaker 2: measure it?
- 10:24Speaker 4: It's amazing. Utah has grown. It's crazy. It's a big
- 10:34Speaker 4: market now, which I started noticing it probably six, seven,
- 10:41Speaker 4: eight years ago when I was getting ready to go
- 10:44Speaker 4: down to Arizona and During the course of that time,
- 10:49Speaker 4: I would come back and forth and I'd fly out
- 10:51Speaker 4: of Provo, which is 45 minutes south of Salt Lake,
- 10:55Speaker 4: just because that's the flight that was best for me.
- 10:59Speaker 4: And just driving from Salt Lake to Provo, traffic was crazy,
- 11:05Speaker 4: even at 8 p.m. on a Sunday night. The amount
- 11:08Speaker 4: of buildings that were going up, housing, tech, offices, everything.
- 11:15Speaker 4: you know, malls, like just stuff's happening. And, and as
- 11:21Speaker 4: that was all going on and Salt Lake and Utah,
- 11:25Speaker 4: it's always been just a great sports place. We love sports,
- 11:30Speaker 4: college football, basketball, the jazz have always been huge. Youth
- 11:36Speaker 4: sports are just crazy with the amount of participation. And
- 11:40Speaker 4: now that's shifted to hockey, which is fantastic. So that's,
- 11:46Speaker 4: that's going through the roof. So, you know, those of
- 11:49Speaker 4: us from Utah have always been starving for sports and
- 11:52Speaker 4: more sports. And with, you know, all the great people
- 11:59Speaker 4: that have moved here and become part of our community,
- 12:02Speaker 4: we were ready for, uh, another major pro team and
- 12:06Speaker 4: the NHL came at the perfect time. And Brian Smith
- 12:10Speaker 4: has said, um, For those that didn't know, didn't know
- 12:18Speaker 4: we needed something that they didn't even know we needed.
- 12:24Speaker 4: And so here we are. It's been magical and it's
- 12:29Speaker 4: fun to be a part of. And for me, it's
- 12:31Speaker 4: great to be home.
- 12:32Speaker 2: It's amazing just how much The Next Step has been
- 12:35Speaker 2: taken here with this franchise, going from roughly three years ago,
- 12:38Speaker 2: coming out of Arizona and that situation. to all of
- 12:41Speaker 2: a sudden now. And there still are plenty of names
- 12:43Speaker 2: from that time on that roster who are still very
- 12:46Speaker 2: much a big piece of what's going on. And the
- 12:48Speaker 2: three names that we talk about a lot as far
- 12:50Speaker 2: as guys who are back, and maybe even better this year,
- 12:52Speaker 2: Clayton Keller, Dylan Gunther, and Logan Cooley, two of them
- 12:56Speaker 2: hit either 90 points this last season or scored 40 goals.
- 13:00Speaker 2: But you hinted at this. Maybe a guy that we're
- 13:02Speaker 2: not talking about enough is Nick Schmaltz. Seven goals, as
- 13:06Speaker 2: you said, first 10 games. He has an extension now
- 13:09Speaker 2: for his contract in hand. How do you lay out
- 13:12Speaker 2: the kind of work that Andre Tourney has made in
- 13:15Speaker 2: him over the years?
- 13:16Speaker 4: It's really amazing. You know, when Andre became a coach
- 13:22Speaker 4: in the NHL from the first year, just the development
- 13:29Speaker 4: that we saw from Keller and from Schmaltz and from
- 13:33Speaker 4: Barrett Hayden, who's a fifth overall pick, like those guys became,
- 13:41Speaker 4: I don't know how to say it, but there was,
- 13:45Speaker 4: there was a noticeable step in the progress of their
- 13:48Speaker 4: careers that those three guys took when Andre Turney became
- 13:53Speaker 4: their head coach. And it, it, saying night and day
- 13:57Speaker 4: isn't fair, but they, they Clayton Keller became a point
- 14:01Speaker 4: of game guy. Nick Schmaltz became a 20 goal score.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Barrett Hayden became a guy that can score 20 goals
- 14:07Speaker 4: in the NHL, not to mention Lawson Krause, same thing,
- 14:11Speaker 4: a guy that goes from single digits in scoring to
- 14:14Speaker 4: 20 plus goals in five of the last six years.
- 14:19Speaker 4: So bear just has a, has a way it's, it's, it,
- 14:25Speaker 4: it's just kind of the mantra of, you know, whether
- 14:29Speaker 4: we win or lose, we come back the next day
- 14:31Speaker 4: and everything's the same, you know, looking at the last game,
- 14:35Speaker 4: looking at what do we do to get better and
- 14:38Speaker 4: that consistent message. And just, just that, that even keelness
- 14:44Speaker 4: is just a great tone for the group to have.
- 14:46Speaker 4: And then Gunther and Cooley come along and now Dimitri
- 14:50Speaker 4: Simishev and Daniel boot, you can just see, um, the
- 14:55Speaker 4: steps that they've taken. Gunther goes from half a season
- 14:58Speaker 4: in the AHL, half a season in the NHL to
- 15:00Speaker 4: 27 goals in the NHL to 41 goals in the NHL.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Logan Cooley immediately comes to the NHL. He's a 20
- 15:06Speaker 4: goal score, 20 plus goals, got hurt last year, but
- 15:10Speaker 4: was on pace for over 40 when he got hurt
- 15:14Speaker 4: in December. So it kind of goes along with Andre
- 15:19Speaker 4: Turney's record as a head coach, which has increased every
- 15:22Speaker 4: single year now in his sixth year, which is you know,
- 15:25Speaker 4: trending in that way again, but he's really a special man.
- 15:29Speaker 4: And just to give you an example of just some
- 15:33Speaker 4: of the stuff that he's accomplished, he was in his
- 15:36Speaker 4: 30s coaching juniors in Canada and didn't speak English and
- 15:41Speaker 4: wanted to take that next step, wanted to come to
- 15:43Speaker 4: the NHL, learned to speak English in his 30s. And
- 15:46Speaker 4: before you know it, he's an assistant for Patrick Waugh
- 15:49Speaker 4: in Colorado and And one thing leads to another and,
- 15:53Speaker 4: and here we are, but he's really a special guy. And, and,
- 15:57Speaker 4: you know, he's so generous with his time. Our broadcast
- 16:01Speaker 4: team is, you know, fortunate to be able to meet
- 16:04Speaker 4: with him every single day and the stuff that he
- 16:06Speaker 4: gives us, you just, you learn and you, you see
- 16:10Speaker 4: stuff and, and you're, you're a lot, a lot smarter
- 16:16Speaker 4: for going on the air because our conversations with, with Andre.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Adrian, Bill Armstrong's brought in guys like Mikhail Sergachev recently,
- 16:25Speaker 2: Mackenzie Wieger to augment the back end. Then, as you hinted,
- 16:29Speaker 2: of course, here in the summer, two big splashes in
- 16:32Speaker 2: Anders Lieb and Vincent Trocek. As you brought up their
- 16:35Speaker 2: games earlier, what expectations are realistic for the kind of
- 16:39Speaker 2: impact that they have to have for this team to
- 16:41Speaker 2: be successful?
- 16:43Speaker 4: I think it's just looking at the big picture. And
- 16:48Speaker 4: so far, we've we've seen it just the way that
- 16:51Speaker 4: they've been able to, to fit in. And the team
- 16:55Speaker 4: has won and Trochek's playing with Logan Cooley, who, you know, it's,
- 17:00Speaker 4: it's interesting him and Logan Cooley both grew up in Pittsburgh.
- 17:04Speaker 4: And when Sidney Crosby came into the NHL as an
- 17:08Speaker 4: 18 year old, Vinny Trochek was 12 and Logan Cooley was,
- 17:13Speaker 4: you know, part of the first class of the little
- 17:15Speaker 4: penguins program that Sidney Crosby was started up and those
- 17:21Speaker 4: two guys ended up meeting each other Trocek and Cooley
- 17:25Speaker 4: and playing hockey together and Cooley just looks up to
- 17:29Speaker 4: him like a big brother and and they they've skated
- 17:33Speaker 4: in the summer as NHLers and and so them being
- 17:38Speaker 4: on the same team the same line has really been
- 17:41Speaker 4: fun to see because you know you can have coaches
- 17:44Speaker 4: telling you stuff but when it's a teammate like a
- 17:47Speaker 4: big brother like is to Cooley and they're playing together.
- 17:52Speaker 4: We've seen it already have a huge impact on Logan,
- 17:58Speaker 4: just having him in the room with Vinny Trocek every
- 18:03Speaker 4: single day. And Andrews Lee is just, he's a captain
- 18:08Speaker 4: and just comes into the organization just because he wants
- 18:12Speaker 4: to win a Stanley Cup. And he's from Minnesota, the
- 18:16Speaker 4: wild wild. You know, we're looking to improve their team
- 18:20Speaker 4: in every way possible. And he chooses Utah and moves
- 18:24Speaker 4: his family here and was, you know, impressed with just
- 18:29Speaker 4: the vision and the leadership that he's added to the
- 18:35Speaker 4: leadership core of guys like you said, Sergeyev and Schmaltz
- 18:39Speaker 4: and Keller and Lawson Kraus. He's there and you don't
- 18:46Speaker 4: think of life differently. without him. And if you blink,
- 18:51Speaker 4: you might miss the little stuff he's doing on the
- 18:54Speaker 4: ice and off the ice.
- 18:56Speaker 2: On to the matchup here for this evening. First of
- 18:58Speaker 2: three between these two teams. I mean, hey, let's just
- 19:00Speaker 2: be honest. The Kraken have found life hard with keeping
- 19:03Speaker 2: the puck out of their own net when these two
- 19:05Speaker 2: teams match up. Utah comes off a 5-4 win over
- 19:09Speaker 2: the Penguins. It's a one-off stop for them on the road.
- 19:12Speaker 2: So how did the Mammoth, Adrian, walk away feeling about
- 19:16Speaker 2: their game after that win to move on to this
- 19:18Speaker 2: part now of the schedule?
- 19:20Speaker 4: I think, you know, they look at it as they
- 19:23Speaker 4: won a game, but they've got stuff they want to
- 19:27Speaker 4: dial in on. The penalty kill, their third periods. And
- 19:32Speaker 4: if you ask the team, it's just details. It's early
- 19:35Speaker 4: season details. It's boxes to check. It's items to tidy
- 19:42Speaker 4: up on. And they feel good that they're seven and three. But,
- 19:47Speaker 4: you know, there's there's just that you go in the
- 19:50Speaker 4: next day and you're evaluating the big picture of it.
- 19:55Speaker 4: So what's, what's next for the group? Andre was asked
- 19:59Speaker 4: about your seven and three. What do you take from
- 20:03Speaker 4: that moving forward at practice on Wednesday? And he said,
- 20:07Speaker 4: we don't care about that. We're, we're in the moment
- 20:10Speaker 4: today and today is all that matters. And we have
- 20:15Speaker 4: to win today. And we look back at the game
- 20:19Speaker 4: against Pittsburgh, how it became five, two to five, four,
- 20:23Speaker 4: how we gave up two power play goals and, How
- 20:26Speaker 4: do we make sure that doesn't happen in Seattle on Thursday?
- 20:28Speaker 2: Looking forward to this one, certainly. Two more matchups after this,
- 20:31Speaker 2: one in Utah in February, then one more in Seattle
- 20:34Speaker 2: coming up in March. Adrian, appreciate you and your time.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Have a great show. We'll catch you up down the road.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Thanks for having me on KTM, Mike.
- 20:42Speaker 2: That's Adrian Denny joining us from the Utah Mammoth Radio Side. Heard,
- 20:46Speaker 2: of course, once again on KSL SportsZone 97.5 FM and
- 20:51Speaker 2: 1280 AM. To know for the Kraken this evening, Ryan
- 20:54Speaker 2: Winterton will skate in his 100th career NHL game. Needless
- 20:58Speaker 2: to say, he's found a home. He hasn't missed a
- 21:01Speaker 2: game yet this season. logging six points in 10 games
- 21:05Speaker 2: as a critical piece on the Kraken fourth line. Chandler
- 21:08Speaker 2: Stevenson hit the score sheet two nights ago in the
- 21:11Speaker 2: shootout win. He could be a player to watch. He's
- 21:13Speaker 2: got points in three consecutive games against Utah while also
- 21:17Speaker 2: picking up a point or more. in eight of the
- 21:21Speaker 2: first 10 games. We mentioned Nick Schmaltz's totals earlier. Of course,
- 21:25Speaker 2: seven goals in 10 games, but there's also power play
- 21:28Speaker 2: linkage here to this, which has the Mammoth right now
- 21:30Speaker 2: as a top-ranked unit on the power play. Schmaltz, needless
- 21:34Speaker 2: to say, is a big power play guy. Five of
- 21:37Speaker 2: his seven goals have come via the man advantage. So
- 21:40Speaker 2: for the Kraken, a big storyline tonight could put the
- 21:43Speaker 2: spotlight on the Kraken and if they can stay out
- 21:46Speaker 2: of the penalty box. We'll cover it all for you
- 21:48Speaker 2: once again, beginning with 6.30 with our airtime. Pug drops
- 21:51Speaker 2: a little past 7 o'clock Pacific on the Global Credit
- 21:54Speaker 2: Union Kraken Audio Network. We certainly hope that you can
- 21:58Speaker 2: join us for the Kraken and the Mammoth. Big thank
- 22:00Speaker 2: you again to Adrian Denny for hanging out with us
- 22:03Speaker 2: and for Kraken this morning. I'm Mike Benton. Have a
- 22:06Speaker 2: happy Thursday and enjoy the game. Your home for the Kraken.
