- 0:00Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM with Cubby and Christine in the morning.
- 0:02Speaker 1: Producer Kristen and very good morning to you. Today is
- 0:05Speaker 1: a heavy day for our country and our city. We'll
- 0:08Speaker 1: pause to remember the lives we lost on 9-11. But
- 0:11Speaker 1: we're also here to walk you through the day together
- 0:14Speaker 1: with great music and great company.
- 0:15Speaker 2: We hope to do that throughout the day.
- 0:17Speaker 1: And give us a text at 44363. Let us know
- 0:20Speaker 1: what is on your mind as we begin this brand
- 0:22Speaker 1: new day. And I feel like I haven't really caught
- 0:24Speaker 1: up with you about yesterday, Christine, because our show ended
- 0:27Speaker 1: and you went down the hall. to another studio and
- 0:29Speaker 1: recorded a podcast that will soon be heard.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Yes, yes, we're about to post it inside Broadway.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Great podcast, by the way. I highly recommend it inside Broadway,
- 0:39Speaker 1: wherever you get your podcast.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Who did you talk to yesterday?
- 0:41Speaker 3: We spoke with John Riddle, who's one of the stars
- 0:44Speaker 3: of Titanic on Broadway, which is a show you know
- 0:47Speaker 3: I love. And I keep encouraging everybody to see because
- 0:50Speaker 3: it is so, so, so funny. I went for a
- 0:54Speaker 3: third time. Found out yesterday that people go for dozens
- 0:58Speaker 3: of times. So three times is nothing. Third time's a charm.
- 1:03Speaker 3: But John Riddle was a wonderful, wonderful guest. He plays Cal,
- 1:06Speaker 3: who's like the bad guy, the Billy Zane character in Titanic.
- 1:10Speaker 3: This show is just so much fun. It's a laugh
- 1:14Speaker 3: a moment. It's lighthearted. It's joyful. It's what we need.
- 1:18Speaker 2: We need joy right about now.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Yes, we do. And, you know, it is also Broadway week.
- 1:23Speaker 3: So September 8th. It started on the 8th through the 20th.
- 1:26Speaker 3: You get two-for-one tickets.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I'm still bummed out this show is ending. I mean,
- 1:30Speaker 1: I feel like I've already seen it because you've talked
- 1:32Speaker 1: about it so much.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Yeah. And you're very like, you know, I know you
- 1:35Speaker 2: want me there.
- 1:35Speaker 3: I do want you there.
- 1:37Speaker 2: And I don't know if I can get there.
- 1:38Speaker 3: And you're so busy and I don't know how to
- 1:39Speaker 3: get you in there before it closes. I know there's
- 1:41Speaker 3: going to be a road.
- 1:42Speaker 2: These darn kids I have. I tell you what, I
- 1:43Speaker 2: got to get rid of them.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Yeah, they just get in the way.
- 1:46Speaker 2: They stop everything.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I'm getting into school. What's that? Responsibility. Oh, my goodness.
- 1:51Speaker 3: But yeah, there's going to be a road company, but
- 1:53Speaker 3: I would love for you to see it, obviously, when
- 1:55Speaker 3: it's on Broadway with this cast that I'm seeing.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Right. Inside Broadway, check it out. A fabulous podcast.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Thank you, sir.
- 2:02Speaker 2: So coming up, we got your variety from the 80s
- 2:04Speaker 2: through today.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And seriously, I mean, whatever you want to talk about,
- 2:08Speaker 1: we're here for you at 44363. And we're going to do,
- 2:11Speaker 1: I think, a pretty good job today of balancing, you know,
- 2:14Speaker 1: the heaviness with our normal.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Wackiness. Right. Wack job in the morning.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Maybe I'll bust out a dad joke just to break
- 2:23Speaker 2: things up.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Well, yeah, you've always got them.
- 2:25Speaker 2: I always do.
- 2:26Speaker 3: In your back pocket. They're always there. I feel like, yeah,
- 2:29Speaker 3: you tell us, like, you can set the tone as well.
- 2:31Speaker 3: What are you looking for today, 44363? Because I know
- 2:35Speaker 3: it can be, this is a really challenging day. Right.
- 2:38Speaker 3: You know, and for producer Kristen, thank you so much
- 2:41Speaker 3: for being in studio with us. Because for Kristen in particular,
- 2:44Speaker 3: it is. And, you know, we'll share stories throughout the
- 2:47Speaker 3: morning and you can share your stories with us or
- 2:50Speaker 3: we just focus on the music.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Whatever is going to bring you comfort and make you
- 2:54Speaker 3: feel better. That's what we want to do for you.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:56Speaker 1: We want to hear producer Kristen's story. And we'll do
- 2:58Speaker 1: that after seven o'clock this morning, around seven or five.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Producer Kristen will crack.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Open the mic.
- 3:05Speaker 1: It's been a while, but we need her on the
- 3:06Speaker 1: air for sure. So that's coming up. It's Light FM.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And again, hit us up.
- 3:10Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:16Speaker 3: I need to tell you two things.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Cubby and Christine's.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Two pretty cool things.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Well, Christine, you and I both love squirrels.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yeah, we do.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And you'll be happy to know that squirrels have personalities too.
- 3:29Speaker 2: I knew it.
- 3:30Speaker 1: A study found that our friendly squirrel friend staring at
- 3:33Speaker 1: you in the park or through the window.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 2: They're just like humans. They have a personality.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Researchers from the University of California, Davis, said these characteristics
- 3:43Speaker 1: range from aggressive to social or polite to careful and shy.
- 3:48Speaker 1: The team said the furry-tailed rodents are more like people
- 3:51Speaker 1: than previously believed. They have boldness, aggressiveness, activity level, and sociability.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Those are the big traits that they have. But the
- 4:01Speaker 1: ones that are kind of scared of you, it's just
- 4:03Speaker 1: like Somebody at work that runs away from you in
- 4:05Speaker 1: the hallway.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 1: But there's some that want to test if they can
- 4:09Speaker 1: get close to your hand and grab that nut.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 4:12Speaker 2: And it's kind of cool.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Or some that want to challenge my cat, Archie.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 4:16Speaker 3: At the window.
- 4:16Speaker 2: They stare.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Come on, come on. You want to fight?
- 4:19Speaker 2: You want to fight? You want to play? You want
- 4:20Speaker 2: to play? You're so cute. All right. What is your
- 4:22Speaker 2: cool thing, Christine?
- 4:23Speaker 3: Okay, you're going to love it or hate it. Candy corn.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I love it, man.
- 4:27Speaker 3: We do. We're candy corn fans. Would you like to
- 4:29Speaker 3: smell like it? Bronx is branching out with its first
- 4:33Speaker 3: ever fragrance, Ode to Candy Corn. It's $ 22 eau de parfum.
- 4:39Speaker 3: It blends creamy vanilla, sponge sugar, and honey to recreate
- 4:42Speaker 3: the candy's signature sweet scent. Each bottle comes with a
- 4:46Speaker 3: bag of classic candy corn. It's a limited edition. You
- 4:50Speaker 3: can get it online between September 22nd and October 1st,
- 4:55Speaker 3: while supplies last.
- 4:57Speaker 1: It is amazing, though, how many people, especially around Halloween
- 4:59Speaker 1: when we do this topic about candy, How many people
- 5:02Speaker 1: just get on their soapbox and go, no candy corn?
- 5:05Speaker 3: I know. And for some of us, it's nostalgia. Yeah, exactly.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Exactly. All right, coming up, more variety from the 80s
- 5:11Speaker 2: through today.
- 5:13Speaker 4: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Covey and Christine in the morning here on 106.7 Light
- 5:20Speaker 1: FM on this Friday, September 11th. If the news today
- 5:23Speaker 1: is too much, you're in the right place. We will
- 5:24Speaker 1: keep the talk light, the music rolling. We will give
- 5:28Speaker 1: you the headlines coming up in a little bit, and
- 5:30Speaker 1: we'll do our moments of silence later on.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 5:33Speaker 2: But hopefully we can be a little bit of a distraction.
- 5:35Speaker 2: If you need to take a break from the news.
- 5:38Speaker 1: And we can get back to what we usually do
- 5:40Speaker 1: and just talk about like, we're like a Seinfeld episode.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:43Speaker 2: A show about nothing. We just pick random topics that
- 5:46Speaker 2: we like and we roll with it.
- 5:48Speaker 3: We can make a whole show out of an order
- 5:50Speaker 3: at Stop and Shop.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yes. Yes. And now we're talking 90s, you said?
- 5:54Speaker 3: Yeah, because just before we talked about candy corn and
- 5:58Speaker 3: how some of us have, we love it, we hate it,
- 6:00Speaker 3: but we have like a real nostalgic feeling around it.
- 6:03Speaker 3: So everything 90s is new again. I kind of love
- 6:07Speaker 3: that the 90s is really hot because I like the 90s.
- 6:09Speaker 2: You remember how the 80s came back about 15 years ago?
- 6:13Speaker 3: And the 80s stayed.
- 6:15Speaker 2: And they stayed for a while.
- 6:15Speaker 3: For a long time.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Actually, yeah, probably in the year 2000. I remember 80s
- 6:19Speaker 2: clubs exploding.
- 6:20Speaker 3: But it's still, still. But now finally.
- 6:23Speaker 2: But now the 90s is becoming the new 80s.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Finally. 90s are starting to sneak in there. And we
- 6:28Speaker 3: are looking for nostalgia. So if you want to have
- 6:30Speaker 3: a good 90s fall... This is what the experts are
- 6:34Speaker 3: saying you need to do. First of all, you need
- 6:36Speaker 3: to carve your own spooky pumpkins. They said forget about
- 6:40Speaker 3: all the white and tan and fancy pants pumpkins that
- 6:43Speaker 3: you see on Pinterest.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Do it the way we used to do it.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Go old school. Go to a farm stand. Get yourself
- 6:48Speaker 3: a pumpkin and carve a spooky face in it. And
- 6:51Speaker 3: then you can toast the pumpkin seeds.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I love that. Yeah. By the way, is it too
- 6:55Speaker 2: early to put pumpkins on the front stoop? Or are
- 6:59Speaker 2: they going to be all.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I would say I would say it's not too early.
- 7:03Speaker 3: But do you plan on some squirrels stopping by? Just
- 7:06Speaker 3: my right about that.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah, they'll find those babies and put a hole in there.
- 7:09Speaker 3: They'll be like, oh, thank you. You can put out
- 7:12Speaker 3: a bowl of candy corn, like we said, very 90s.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Love it.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Hate it. It's 90s. Put your phone down. Pick up
- 7:18Speaker 3: your favorite magazines. Do we have them? I'm sorry to
- 7:22Speaker 3: sound rude, but I miss magazines.
- 7:24Speaker 2: There are a lot of magazines that just gave up.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I know. Okay. My sister-in-law, Barbara, does bring by People magazine,
- 7:29Speaker 3: so I know People's around. Rolling Stone, Better Homes and Gardens.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:34Speaker 3: So you can get some ideas from there.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Things to keep you busy in the bathroom, right?
- 7:38Speaker 3: Is that what they're for?
- 7:39Speaker 1: Well, usually, I've said this before, I used to grab
- 7:41Speaker 1: a shampoo.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Bottle if I had nothing to read.
- 7:43Speaker 3: You just need something.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Just need something to read.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Some type of distraction. Okay, I love this. You can
- 7:48Speaker 3: wear your flannels over your baby tees.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Yes. Is that your favorite look?
- 7:53Speaker 3: I loved that look so much with a pair of
- 7:55Speaker 3: Doc Martens.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Doc Martens. That was like 92, maybe 93. Just loved it.
- 8:00Speaker 3: So yay to flannel. And head to the mall instead
- 8:03Speaker 3: of shopping online. Like it feels fun to go to
- 8:06Speaker 3: the mall. You go to someplace like Bath and Body
- 8:08Speaker 3: Works and they're doing all the like the fall scents.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 3: That is just a good time. You can even hit
- 8:15Speaker 3: up a food court while you're there. Go old school
- 8:17Speaker 3: and watch all your favorite fall movies when they're on.
- 8:20Speaker 3: They're streaming now. You can get some popcorn, order a pizza,
- 8:24Speaker 3: settle back, have a full on 90s style watch party.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:28Speaker 2: You know what? Give us a text at 44363.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I feel like we got to keep the 90s like
- 8:33Speaker 1: things rolling here because you brought up so many great things.
- 8:36Speaker 1: You know, get some Z Cavaricci's maybe. Like I want
- 8:39Speaker 1: to keep adding to how we get more 90s.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I'd leave those behind.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Okay.
- 8:43Speaker 3: I would go more grungy 90s, but it's your call.
- 8:46Speaker 2: What about my mullet? Should I bring my mullet back
- 8:49Speaker 2: from 1991?
- 8:49Speaker 3: Maybe for your Halloween costume.
- 8:51Speaker 2: My starter jacket. 80s was members only, 90s was starter jacket.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Oh, was it?
- 8:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:57Speaker 1: All right, I want to hear from you. And coming up,
- 8:59Speaker 1: Mariah Carey. She had several hits in the 90s. We'll
- 9:03Speaker 1: play one of hers next.
- 9:05Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Mariah Carey, that one from the 90s. And that's kind
- 9:12Speaker 1: of what we're talking about here on Light FM. It's Cubby, Christine,
- 9:14Speaker 1: producer Kristen. We're having a 90s party here because, after all,
- 9:17Speaker 1: everybody else is having a 90s party, right?
- 9:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 1: That was 90210 opening right there. So, yeah, people were
- 9:24Speaker 1: texting in at 44363. They were digging our conversation.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Yeah, they said you can't have the 90s without watching
- 9:30Speaker 3: episodes of Beverly Hills 90210. And Cubby, thank you for accommodating. 201,
- 9:36Speaker 3: love Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam. Totally reminds me of
- 9:38Speaker 3: the 90s.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Well, when you brought up the flannel and the Doc Martens,
- 9:41Speaker 1: I think of that whole Pearl Jam.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Nirvana era.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Yes, so do I.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Yep.
- 9:45Speaker 3: And they're going to honor Nirvana right at the MTV
- 9:47Speaker 3: Video Music Awards this year, the Vanguard Awards. So looking
- 9:50Speaker 3: forward to that. 732 noticed something that you said, Cubby.
- 9:55Speaker 2: What?
- 9:55Speaker 3: Cubby said stoop. Nice.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I was talking about, is it too early to put
- 10:00Speaker 2: pumpkins on the stoop? Yeah. And I sometimes say step,
- 10:04Speaker 2: but I do say stoop sometimes.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I think I do. This person says, I always say that.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Thank you. Someone keeping the old school terminology alive. It's
- 10:12Speaker 3: also like for me being brought up in this area. Yeah.
- 10:14Speaker 3: It's a front stoop. It's just what we call it. Right.
- 10:17Speaker 3: But I know it's not your thing exactly, Covey, but
- 10:21Speaker 3: a lot of the influencers that I see, Instagram, They're
- 10:25Speaker 3: doing a lot of, like, 90s makeup. They're going back
- 10:28Speaker 3: and getting, like, the old MAC lipsticks that we used
- 10:31Speaker 3: to use. Do you remember? They would be, like, a
- 10:33Speaker 3: dark brown.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it was more... Is gothic the right word?
- 10:37Speaker 3: A little gothy.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah. Compare it... Like, the 80s were just colorful.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:41Speaker 2: The 90s were darkish.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Yes.
- 10:44Speaker 2: As far as the makeup was.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I called it, like, goth-lite.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 3: It was the kind of look I really loved and embraced. So, yeah,
- 10:50Speaker 3: they're trying to do, like, those kind of styles. And
- 10:52Speaker 3: I love it because... I'm like, was it that long ago?
- 10:55Speaker 3: It was so long ago that women on there were like,
- 10:57Speaker 3: they had such great colors in the 90s. Why don't
- 11:00Speaker 3: they make these anymore? Like it was a long gone era.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Do you think there were a lot of great colors
- 11:07Speaker 2: in the 90s compared to the 80s?
- 11:10Speaker 3: No comparison to me. I'm all 90s. Like I love
- 11:14Speaker 3: the music of the 90s. I love the fashions. I
- 11:17Speaker 3: just love how it was in town, like working in
- 11:20Speaker 3: Manhattan in the 90s. I like all of it. I
- 11:23Speaker 3: just do. They existed, but we didn't, you know, live
- 11:28Speaker 3: and die by them.
- 11:29Speaker 2: My first cell phone was only in the car. It
- 11:31Speaker 2: was attached to the car. If you remember that. So
- 11:34Speaker 2: you can only use it in the car. It was
- 11:35Speaker 2: on a holder in the car.
- 11:37Speaker 3: For emergency purposes only. Yeah.
- 11:39Speaker 2: And a friend of mine was like, you should just
- 11:41Speaker 2: get one to carry around. Right. And I said, no,
- 11:43Speaker 2: I'll use it way too much.
- 11:45Speaker 1: And I don't think it was until 96 when I
- 11:48Speaker 1: got my first Nokia phone where you could play that
- 11:51Speaker 1: game Snake on it or something like that.
- 11:53Speaker 3: And there you were.
- 11:54Speaker 2: There I was. Hooked ever since. Hooked ever since. I know.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I know. Oh, the 90s. I got to tell you.
- 11:58Speaker 3: I think we just get nostalgic for these times. That's all.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Maybe I see it with rose-colored glasses, but it just
- 12:03Speaker 3: felt like a good time.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And again, the 90s is the new 80s. As far as.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Okay. If you want... Yes.
- 12:09Speaker 1: You know, like 80s are still popular, but I really
- 12:11Speaker 1: feel like the 90s are like having their moment right now.
- 12:13Speaker 3: It seems like the 80s will forever be popular.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Right.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Well, again, we'll tell you this real quick.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Today we know is a heavy day for our city
- 12:21Speaker 1: and our country, and we are going to be pausing
- 12:23Speaker 1: later to remember the lives lost on 9-11. But again,
- 12:26Speaker 1: we're also here to walk you through this day together.
- 12:29Speaker 1: with great music and some, you know, just silly conversations.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Like our 90s now.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I think for a lot of us, this is a
- 12:35Speaker 3: tough day. So we just want to be here for
- 12:38Speaker 3: you however you want us to be here for you.
- 12:40Speaker 2: We're going to navigate through the day together. And actually,
- 12:42Speaker 2: you'll catch us up on the headlines and what else.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Well, there's some tips to a longer life that we
- 12:48Speaker 3: can check out as well.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I'll take it.
- 12:50Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 12:56Speaker 3: 6.59.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Good morning on this Friday, September 11th. Cubby and Christine.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Producer Kristen is here. And we have all your news
- 13:02Speaker 1: with Christine.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Good morning, Christine.
- 13:03Speaker 3: And good morning, Cubby. Yes, this is marking the 25th
- 13:06Speaker 3: anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Families of victims,
- 13:10Speaker 3: first responders, city leaders, they're gathering in Memorial Plaza. where
- 13:14Speaker 3: the names of the 2,983 people we lost that day
- 13:19Speaker 3: will be read, along with the 1993 World Trade Center
- 13:22Speaker 3: bombing that will be read by family members and survivors.
- 13:26Speaker 3: The 9-11 Memorial and Museum will be open to family
- 13:30Speaker 3: members only today. And remember, today there is going to
- 13:33Speaker 3: be an extra moment of silence that is added that's
- 13:37Speaker 3: been put in for the people that we've lost since
- 13:39Speaker 3: the exact day of the attacks. President Trump will be
- 13:42Speaker 3: at the Pentagon for the observance for the 25th anniversary.
- 13:47Speaker 3: He'll be joined by Secretary of War Pete Hesketh in
- 13:51Speaker 3: honor of the 184 people killed when hijacked American Airlines
- 13:54Speaker 3: Flight 77 crashed into the building. Here in New York,
- 13:58Speaker 3: we'll have Vice President J.D. Vance, former Presidents Biden, Obama,
- 14:01Speaker 3: George W. Bush, Bill, and also Hillary Clinton will attend
- 14:06Speaker 3: the 9-11 commemoration down at Ground Zero. We are switching
- 14:12Speaker 3: modes completely here. Elon Musk is threatening to sue over
- 14:15Speaker 3: Alex Gibney's new documentary about him. Musk's lawyer, Alex Spiro,
- 14:21Speaker 3: says the film suggests that Musk influenced the 24 elections.
- 14:25Speaker 3: And Spiro claims it insinuates Musk used his Starlink satellites
- 14:29Speaker 3: to sway the 24 contest in favor of his ally,
- 14:32Speaker 3: Donald Trump. This is a four-hour long film that got
- 14:35Speaker 3: a standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival. In sports,
- 14:41Speaker 3: tonight is a big one in honor of September 11th.
- 14:44Speaker 3: The Mets will face the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. And
- 14:47Speaker 3: in football, 49ers beat the Rams 27-7 last night. Jets
- 14:51Speaker 3: play the Titans on Sunday at 1. Giants will play
- 14:54Speaker 3: the Cowboys Sunday night at 8-20. A recent study of
- 14:58Speaker 3: more than 20,000 people found that four simple lifestyle choices
- 15:01Speaker 3: can add an average of 14 years to your life.
- 15:05Speaker 2: That's a lot, so pay attention. Here we go.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Here's what we need to do. We need to eat
- 15:08Speaker 3: plenty of fruits and veggies, exercise regularly, drink alcohol moderately,
- 15:15Speaker 3: and do not smoke. Doing each one of these separately
- 15:18Speaker 3: adds years to your life, but all four together helps
- 15:20Speaker 3: you live the longest, 14 years.
- 15:22Speaker 2: All right, I'm three for four.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Okay.
- 15:26Speaker 2: I'm not smoking.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Okay.
- 15:27Speaker 2: But I do eat vegetables and fruit, but not plenty.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Does fried count?
- 15:34Speaker 2: Yeah, fried. You're doing all those, right? Everything mentioned there?
- 15:37Speaker 3: I think I do.
- 15:38Speaker 2: You don't smoke. You eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. Yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 2: What else is on there?
- 15:43Speaker 3: Exercise regularly.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Oh, that's the other problem I have, exercising regularly. And
- 15:47Speaker 2: you actually do.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I do. But I will say that yesterday I
- 15:52Speaker 3: had a lovely one and a half hour workout and
- 15:54Speaker 3: came out of our little gym in my community. And
- 15:57Speaker 3: there was a food truck there. And I was like, oh.
- 16:00Speaker 2: What to do?
- 16:00Speaker 3: Eat. Well, you know what?
- 16:04Speaker 2: I would view it as I burned a bunch of calories.
- 16:06Speaker 3: I did.
- 16:06Speaker 2: I made room for this.
- 16:07Speaker 3: I did. I get to have an empanada.
- 16:09Speaker 2: I love that.
- 16:10Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Olivia Dean on Light FM with Cubby and Christine in
- 16:17Speaker 1: the morning. And producer Kristen on this Friday, September 11th.
- 16:20Speaker 2: 25 years.
- 16:22Speaker 1: We carry the memory of that day in our hearts.
- 16:24Speaker 1: And we are here all day long for you. I
- 16:27Speaker 1: do want to read a very wonderful email I got
- 16:31Speaker 1: from Mrs.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Rosenberg. She's the director of my daughter's school.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:35Speaker 1: And she actually sent this to everybody. But it was
- 16:38Speaker 1: such a well-written email. And I hope she doesn't mind
- 16:41Speaker 1: if I read this.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Mrs. Rosenberg, again, the director or principal maybe. Okay. But
- 16:47Speaker 2: I think her title is director.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:49Speaker 1: And I'm not going to mention where my daughter goes.
- 16:51Speaker 1: But this is what she wrote to all the parents.
- 16:52Speaker 1: This was yesterday she sent the email. Tomorrow is September 11th,
- 16:56Speaker 1: and on this day, we pause to remember and honor
- 16:59Speaker 1: the lives lost 25 years ago, and to recognize the courage, unity,
- 17:04Speaker 1: and resilience that emerged in the aftermath of that tragic event.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Patriot Day serves as a day of remembrance for nearly
- 17:11Speaker 1: 3,000 individuals who perished in the attacks, the countless first
- 17:15Speaker 1: responders and civilians who risked and sacrificed their lives to
- 17:20Speaker 1: help others, and the many families who still carry the
- 17:23Speaker 1: weight of that loss. At blank, we are committed to
- 17:29Speaker 1: teaching not only history, but also the values that sustain
- 17:33Speaker 1: us through hardship, service, compassion, courage, and community. As we reflect,
- 17:39Speaker 1: we also encourage our students to think about the ways
- 17:43Speaker 1: they can be helpers and peacemakers in their own lives
- 17:46Speaker 1: through acts of kindness, inclusion, and empathy. Together, we can
- 17:50Speaker 1: honor the past while nurturing a generation that builds a
- 17:53Speaker 1: more peaceful and united future. To our families who celebrate
- 17:57Speaker 1: Rosh Hashanah, wishing you a happy, healthy, and sweet new year.
- 18:00Speaker 2: And again, that's from Mrs. Rosenberg, the director of my
- 18:03Speaker 2: daughter's school. I just thought that was a really well-put email.
- 18:06Speaker 3: It certainly is.
- 18:07Speaker 2: You know?
- 18:08Speaker 3: It really, really is. This is such a delicate day, Cubby.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Your kids are so young, like producer Kristen's, and we
- 18:14Speaker 3: wonder at what point do we introduce them to the
- 18:19Speaker 3: events of September 11th, right?
- 18:21Speaker 2: It's a great question.
- 18:22Speaker 3: How much is too much? They seem to be aware
- 18:25Speaker 3: that this is a special day.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Yeah, even that producer Kristen was saying at Jagger School,
- 18:32Speaker 2: kindergarten just started, and it's a uniform school, but she
- 18:35Speaker 2: got the email yesterday that the kids can wear red, white,
- 18:38Speaker 2: and blue if they wish.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So it's little things like that. And I'm curious, we
- 18:42Speaker 1: have a lot of teachers that are listening right now.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Yes.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Like, are you teaching it yet?
- 18:45Speaker 3: Yeah, at what age?
- 18:46Speaker 1: Maybe not for Naomi's age, because Naomi, my daughter, is
- 18:49Speaker 1: first grade, six years old.
- 18:50Speaker 2: But like, is an eighth or ninth grade.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Teacher teaching it? When do they start? I know. I
- 18:55Speaker 3: asked my friend Laura, who's a teacher, but she teaches
- 18:57Speaker 3: little ones too, you know, kindergartners.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Right.
- 19:00Speaker 3: So not yet. But 44363, we'd love to hear from
- 19:03Speaker 3: the teachers. When do you start introducing this part of
- 19:07Speaker 3: our history to the kids? How do you do it?
- 19:10Speaker 2: Is it even in history books yet? Like, Is it
- 19:13Speaker 2: being printed in books?
- 19:14Speaker 3: Must be, right?
- 19:16Speaker 2: It's just a lot of questions.
- 19:17Speaker 3: I don't know. I guess because for us, it's just
- 19:21Speaker 3: a part of who we are. Like, we carry it.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Well said, yeah.
- 19:24Speaker 3: All the time, we carry it. And that's what we're
- 19:28Speaker 3: just wanting to say to you today. Whatever we can
- 19:31Speaker 3: do to support you, we're trying to keep the music
- 19:34Speaker 3: going and share stories that you may want to share.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Or if you need a break, you tell us you
- 19:39Speaker 3: need a break, 44363. Again, we're here for you. And
- 19:43Speaker 3: there's no right or wrong way to do this day.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Whatever it takes to get through this day. Whatever makes
- 19:49Speaker 3: you feel better or brings you some peace. Because we, Cubby, you, I, Kristen,
- 19:56Speaker 3: everyone here at iHeart, we will never forget. And we
- 20:00Speaker 3: thank you, the heroes. We saw it in action. We
- 20:03Speaker 3: can never thank you enough. We are forever grateful.
- 20:07Speaker 2: All right, we're coming right back. Thank you, Christine.
- 20:08Speaker 1: 44363 on text.
- 20:11Speaker 2: It's Light FM.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Mort Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Rock set and listen to your heart on Light FM.
- 20:20Speaker 1: And today we carry the memory of September 11th in
- 20:22Speaker 1: our hearts on this 25th anniversary.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Thank you for listening to us.
- 20:28Speaker 1: And we were having a discussion about 15 minutes ago
- 20:32Speaker 1: about mainly for teachers, but really it could be for parents.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Chime in. Four, four, three, six, three. When do you
- 20:39Speaker 2: teach kids about September?
- 20:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:41Speaker 2: And when does it come up in conversation? Right.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Because you and Kristen, you have such young ones and
- 20:45Speaker 3: they don't they don't really six.
- 20:47Speaker 2: No idea.
- 20:48Speaker 3: They don't know yet.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Right.
- 20:49Speaker 3: We tell them. So, yeah, we've been getting great response.
- 20:52Speaker 3: And I also want to say thank you so much
- 20:53Speaker 3: because we've gotten some beautiful messages for producer Kristen who
- 20:57Speaker 3: shared her story. earlier about her dad.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah, go back and listen on the iHeartRadio app.
- 21:03Speaker 1: It's free, by the way, and you can check out
- 21:05Speaker 1: Kristen's story if you missed it around 7.10 this morning.
- 21:08Speaker 3: Her dad, one of the many, many heroes that day,
- 21:11Speaker 3: and we are forever grateful. So, teachers, thank you for
- 21:14Speaker 3: weighing in. Okay, 201. My son is in the sixth grade,
- 21:18Speaker 3: and he's in a New Jersey school. He came home
- 21:21Speaker 3: at the beginning of this week, and he said, we
- 21:24Speaker 3: are going to learn about September 11th and social studies. So,
- 21:27Speaker 3: sixth grade. That's where they're starting. I remember people are
- 21:33Speaker 3: saying I'm a fourth grade teacher. This is Marissa in
- 21:36Speaker 3: New Jersey. We teach about 9-11 each year this time.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Talk about the event, what happened. Most students have some
- 21:42Speaker 3: knowledge from their parents' experiences. We usually read about the
- 21:46Speaker 3: survivor tree. And this year, we're reading a Scholastic News
- 21:50Speaker 3: article that explains the event, focuses on a story that
- 21:53Speaker 3: honors the heroes. Again, like Kristen's father. 516, I'm a
- 21:58Speaker 3: September 11th survivor. I saw things I never thought I
- 22:01Speaker 3: would see. I'm also a Nona to a three-and-a-half-year-old. And
- 22:05Speaker 3: at this age, we leave it to the parents. Teachers
- 22:08Speaker 3: and parents, teach them kindness and caring. No need to
- 22:11Speaker 3: teach them the bad. Keep them innocent but not blind.
- 22:16Speaker 3: We have 973, a teacher in Newark. She said, I
- 22:19Speaker 3: teach my middle school, my classroom faces directly towards lower Manhattan.
- 22:24Speaker 3: And that day we watched in real time. And she said,
- 22:27Speaker 3: every year since on September 11th, I try and focus
- 22:30Speaker 3: on the heroic acts of that day. I show my
- 22:33Speaker 3: kids documentaries like Boat Lift and the stories from Gander, Newfoundland,
- 22:37Speaker 3: more than focusing on the acts of evil.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Right, because there were acts of kindness that day. Absolutely.
- 22:42Speaker 2: And today's Patriot Day as well. Yes. Right.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Today's a beautiful day to a lot of people volunteer
- 22:47Speaker 3: to give back.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Right.
- 22:49Speaker 3: I just want to feel like you're putting that positivity
- 22:51Speaker 3: into the world.
- 22:52Speaker 2: I saw a great meme. Let me see if I
- 22:54Speaker 2: can find it. I saved it on my phone. It said,
- 22:56Speaker 2: the best way to honor those lost on 9-11 is
- 23:00Speaker 2: to be the people we were on 9-12. You remember
- 23:04Speaker 2: how together we all were? Yes.
- 23:06Speaker 1: So thank you for all the text messages and keep
- 23:09Speaker 1: them coming at 44363. And if you are a teacher,
- 23:12Speaker 1: thank you for all you do and, you know, shaping
- 23:15Speaker 1: our future. And I know you have a tough job.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Yeah. We appreciate you.
- 23:19Speaker 4: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 23:23Speaker 4: Next on Light FM.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Variety from the 80s through today.
- 23:27Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM with Cubby and Christine in the morning
- 23:29Speaker 1: along with producer Kristen. And you'll get a lot of
- 23:31Speaker 1: 80s and 90s this weekend as we kick into a
- 23:34Speaker 1: very special edition.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Of 80s and 90s kicking off later and into the weekend.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Speaking of the weekend, you always have new movies opening
- 23:42Speaker 1: up this weekend, and usually you don't really.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Plan on going to a movie.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Right, right.
- 23:46Speaker 2: But you want to go see one.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Yes, I do. I want to go see Practical Magic 2.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Is it? I never saw Practical Magic 1. Well, I
- 23:52Speaker 2: don't even know what it's about. Okay.
- 23:54Speaker 3: It's Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are sisters and they're witches,
- 23:57Speaker 3: you know.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Should I have known about this? I don't know why.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I've never heard of this.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Is this more of technically a chick flick, do you think?
- 24:04Speaker 3: What do you think, Kristen? Kristen's saying, yeah. Because I'm
- 24:07Speaker 3: planning on going with my sister-in-law, not Eric. So maybe
- 24:10Speaker 3: that says something. But I mean, I think it'd be
- 24:13Speaker 3: good for everybody. It's not necessarily just for women. But
- 24:16Speaker 3: it could overtake Spider-Man Brand New Day, which has just
- 24:19Speaker 3: been ruling at the box office.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Since July 31st.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Yeah. So I think we should get our tickets in advance, Barbara,
- 24:25Speaker 3: just saying. Taylor Swift celebrating her latest country music recognition.
- 24:29Speaker 3: She earned a CMA, Country Music Award nomination for Single
- 24:33Speaker 3: of the year for I Knew It, I Knew You.
- 24:36Speaker 3: We love that song. And she hasn't been at the
- 24:38Speaker 3: Country Music Awards in quite some time. I think she
- 24:41Speaker 3: was a presenter maybe like 10 years ago. But she's
- 24:44Speaker 3: going to be there for this one. Jack Antonoff co-produced
- 24:48Speaker 3: with Taylor on this record. And the CMAs are coming
- 24:53Speaker 3: up live on ABC, streaming on Disney +, on November 18th,
- 24:57Speaker 3: next day, showing on Hulu.
- 24:59Speaker 1: You know why I'm probably not paying attention to practical
- 25:01Speaker 1: magic and really have no clue what movies are happening
- 25:04Speaker 1: this weekend?
- 25:05Speaker 3: Why, Covey?
- 25:05Speaker 2: It's all football in my mind.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Oh, your world has opened up again.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Yes. I don't need a movie theater. That's right. I
- 25:10Speaker 2: just need my red zone, which kicks off this weekend.
- 25:13Speaker 1: You got college football tonight. You got college football tomorrow.
- 25:17Speaker 1: You got the NFL on Sunday. The Jets are playing.
- 25:21Speaker 1: That's my team. One o'clock against the Titans in Tennessee.
- 25:25Speaker 1: And I think the Jets are going to win it,
- 25:26Speaker 1: to be honest with you. Okay.
- 25:28Speaker 2: But I didn't pick them in my survivor pool. Right.
- 25:30Speaker 2: So for those that didn't hear our picks on Wednesday,
- 25:32Speaker 2: we're doing another survivor pool within our little show here.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:36Speaker 2: And here we go. Follow along at home if you
- 25:38Speaker 2: want this weekend. I have Detroit winning over New Orleans.
- 25:44Speaker 2: And Christine, who did you pick?
- 25:46Speaker 3: Jaguars over the Browns.
- 25:47Speaker 2: And producer Kristen picked Chargers over Cardinals. Yes.
- 25:51Speaker 1: NFL survivor pool. It's a simple contest where you pick
- 25:54Speaker 1: one NFL team to win straight up each week. And
- 25:58Speaker 1: a single wrong pick eliminates you.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Wow. So it's tough.
- 26:01Speaker 3: It's high stakes, man.
- 26:02Speaker 2: It's high stakes.
- 26:03Speaker 3: And what's that? Breakfast? What are we doing?
- 26:06Speaker 2: We're playing for breakfast.
- 26:07Speaker 3: We're playing for breakfast.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Last year, I think I picked up a couple of
- 26:09Speaker 1: bagels and some coffee for you guys.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Yeah. So I'm going deep into the pocket. We're talking $ 9, $ 10. Yeah.
- 26:15Speaker 2: And you get two whiffs, by the way. Last year,
- 26:17Speaker 2: we did three.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Okay.
- 26:19Speaker 2: So if you mess up this week, you're still in
- 26:21Speaker 2: it for next week. Okay.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 26:23Speaker 2: You're welcome.
- 26:23Speaker 3: I think it should be okay.
- 26:25Speaker 2: I feel confident about your pick.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I'm a little nervous about mine, Detroit over New Orleans,
- 26:30Speaker 1: because I think Detroit will beat New Orleans, but I
- 26:32Speaker 1: think I might need Detroit later in the year.
- 26:34Speaker 2: You can only pick that team one time.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Risky cubby.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Yeah, a little risky.
- 26:37Speaker 3: You've been on the edge.
- 26:38Speaker 2: And then, of course, Chargers over Cardinals. Kristen, I think
- 26:40Speaker 2: that's a good one.
- 26:41Speaker 3: When in doubt, go with Kristen.
- 26:42Speaker 2: She won it last year.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Yeah, she's amazing. Yes.
- 26:45Speaker 2: All right, three hours commercial free coming up next.
