- 0:59Speaker 3: Juicy Scoop.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to Juicy Scoop. I am wearing my
- 1:05Speaker 2: lady lawyer outfit today because there's lots of juicy law
- 1:09Speaker 2: stuff to go over. And then I have the hilarious
- 1:11Speaker 2: Jen Kirkman, who is going to tell us her account
- 1:15Speaker 2: of what she thinks is going on with the Johnny
- 1:17Speaker 2: Depp trial, as well as her Louis C.K. story that
- 1:21Speaker 2: she tells us from beginning to end. Totally fascinating. Very juicy. Also,
- 1:26Speaker 2: her predictions of what she'd like to see happen. and
- 1:30Speaker 2: Just Like That, which is the Sex and City remake.
- 1:32Speaker 2: So it's a super juicy show. First, let me get
- 1:34Speaker 2: into our first trial. This is Blac Chyna versus Kim, Khloe, Chris,
- 1:40Speaker 2: and Kylie. Okay. I cannot believe that this is like
- 1:44Speaker 2: a full jury trial. It is super juicy. So it's
- 1:49Speaker 2: only been since Monday and first it started with jury
- 1:52Speaker 2: selection and And this one guy, if you've ever been
- 1:57Speaker 2: in jury selection, both sides kind of ask you questions
- 2:00Speaker 2: to see if they think that you would be okay
- 2:03Speaker 2: and that you could be non-biased or possibly be good
- 2:05Speaker 2: for their side. This one guy was like mid-50s. They asked,
- 2:09Speaker 2: are you familiar with the reality show Keeping Up with
- 2:12Speaker 2: the Kardashians or any of those Kardashians? And the guy said, well,
- 2:16Speaker 2: I have never watched Keeping Up with Kardashians, the reality show,
- 2:19Speaker 2: but I did watch Kim Kardashian's sex tape. And then
- 2:24Speaker 2: more questions went on and he goes, I really just
- 2:26Speaker 2: think I need to be excused because I cannot think
- 2:29Speaker 2: about anything but her sex tape while she sits here
- 2:32Speaker 2: in the jury. I mean, as I sit here in
- 2:36Speaker 2: the jury. Anyway, he did get dismissed. They got enough jurors.
- 2:39Speaker 2: And that night, Black China's mom, who's been very controversial
- 2:46Speaker 2: in the past, her name's Tokyo Tony. And... And she has...
- 2:54Speaker 2: done a lot of things on Instagram. She went on
- 2:56Speaker 2: Instagram Live last night saying about how all the Kardashians
- 3:01Speaker 2: didn't look good and their filler in their face that
- 3:04Speaker 2: had little divots in it that they need to fill.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And she also said that Kris Jenner looks like the Jigsaw,
- 3:13Speaker 2: the puppet from, his name's Jigsaw, from Saw. That is
- 3:17Speaker 2: who I've been compared to more times than Caitlyn Jenner.
- 3:21Speaker 2: It's been those, Caitlyn Jenner and the Jigsaw puzzle puppet
- 3:26Speaker 2: guy is who people think I look the most like.
- 3:30Speaker 2: So I find it flattering at this point that Chris
- 3:33Speaker 2: is also, I feel like it's anybody that kind of
- 3:36Speaker 2: has high cheekbones and these are my cheekbones. They have
- 3:39Speaker 2: never been filled. They think I look like that puppet.
- 3:44Speaker 2: The puppet did star in the Saw series and I
- 3:47Speaker 2: believe there were seven of them. So it was a
- 3:48Speaker 2: very successful actor. So thank you for that. Anyway, she's
- 3:52Speaker 2: crazy in it. She says, I'm going to get you
- 3:54Speaker 2: judge and says, you know, some negative things saying, Oh,
- 3:58Speaker 2: they're scary. And this is that. So this morning, the
- 4:01Speaker 2: judge said, Tokyo, Tony can no longer be in the
- 4:04Speaker 2: courtroom because of these threats that she's made towards the
- 4:08Speaker 2: judge and towards Kardashians. And Chris doesn't feel comfortable. And
- 4:13Speaker 2: then Tokyo, Tony says, well, I'm a comedian. You know,
- 4:16Speaker 2: I do. That's my, I was doing a set. I
- 4:20Speaker 2: was doing my comedy set. So forget about our show
- 4:24Speaker 2: about cancel house, which by the way, someone sent me
- 4:27Speaker 2: something that I think Piers Morgan is doing a version
- 4:29Speaker 2: of cancel house. Chris Vangel is going to lose his shit.
- 4:33Speaker 2: My other thing is, um, getting reality stars to be
- 4:37Speaker 2: standup comics. That's going to be the new, new show.
- 4:40Speaker 2: So we can add, um, Tony, what's her name? Tokyo, Tony, Farrah, Abraham, uh,
- 4:49Speaker 2: Let's see. Well, Joe Giudice is already doing it. Sonia Morgan.
- 4:53Speaker 2: She's already kind of doing it. I heard Bethany Frankel
- 4:55Speaker 2: wants to do it. And I want to say there's
- 4:59Speaker 2: like someone else that was trying to do stuff. Anyway,
- 5:02Speaker 2: we've almost got a full house.
- 5:03Speaker 6: Okay.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Find a cute rental in Chatsworth. And then Chris and
- 5:07Speaker 2: I will come in and help these people cultivate their sets.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Getting back to the juiciest trial. Okay. So let me
- 5:15Speaker 2: get back to it. So, uh, Right now, let me
- 5:18Speaker 2: just tell you what the trial basically is. You probably
- 5:21Speaker 2: recall that Blac Chyna and Rob got together. She got
- 5:26Speaker 2: pregnant and they got their own reality show. Clearly something
- 5:30Speaker 2: I think Blac Chyna probably really wanted because right before
- 5:34Speaker 2: Blac Chyna came into the picture, Rob had already been
- 5:36Speaker 2: very recluse for years, not appear on the show. He goes, yes,
- 5:40Speaker 2: I'll be on the show. I'm in love with Blac Chyna.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Let's do it. She gets pregnant. We see it for
- 5:44Speaker 2: one season. We see them fighting. We see her throwing
- 5:47Speaker 2: pots and plants, whatever. But then they make up like
- 5:50Speaker 2: over a barbecue chicken or something. So now she is
- 5:55Speaker 2: saying that they were all set to do another season
- 5:59Speaker 2: and she was going to make all this money. But
- 6:02Speaker 2: her attorneys believe that Chris, Kylie, Kim and Khloe use
- 6:08Speaker 2: their media power to convince E and the showrunners of
- 6:12Speaker 2: the Black China and Rob show. to not renew it
- 6:16Speaker 2: for the second year. And therefore she's missed out on
- 6:19Speaker 2: $ 40 million and $ 60 million in future earnings. So she
- 6:24Speaker 2: is suing the Kardashians for $ 1 million. And her attorneys
- 6:29Speaker 2: are saying, we believe this to be true because they
- 6:32Speaker 2: alleged that they have some evidence of tax. I assume
- 6:36Speaker 2: they've got to show it to say it. I don't know.
- 6:39Speaker 2: saying it was in her opening statement. So China's lawyer
- 6:42Speaker 2: is saying that allegedly Kris Jenner set out to have
- 6:46Speaker 2: season two of Rob and China canceled, followed by an
- 6:49Speaker 2: alleged dispute between Rob and China. So they had this
- 6:52Speaker 2: supposed fight in December of 2016. Rob said, you know,
- 6:58Speaker 2: they're saying Rob was physically assaulted. There was a phone
- 7:02Speaker 2: cord wrapped around his neck. He was hit with something
- 7:05Speaker 2: in the face. China says, all I did was bash
- 7:10Speaker 2: in a door and break two gingerbread houses. The Kardashians
- 7:15Speaker 2: are very big on sending friends and people these beautiful
- 7:17Speaker 2: gingerbread houses. But after that dispute, they said that China's
- 7:24Speaker 2: lawyer claims that Kris then sent a slew of texts
- 7:26Speaker 2: to the series showrunner, allegedly calling China stupid, accusing her
- 7:31Speaker 2: of being drunk for three days, describing her as really ghetto,
- 7:34Speaker 2: and suggesting that they should ditch a bitch. I really
- 7:38Speaker 2: want to see evidence of this because for somebody who
- 7:42Speaker 2: knows Kris Jenner and has texted with Kris Jenner and
- 7:44Speaker 2: has hung out with Kris Jenner, that is not her vocabulary.
- 7:48Speaker 2: But anyway, during his opening statement, the Kardashians lawyer, Michael Rhodes,
- 7:54Speaker 2: also showed alleged 2017 texts from China to Rob sent
- 7:59Speaker 2: just a few months after that split. Remember, that was
- 8:02Speaker 2: December 2016, so in February 2017. Rhodes claims that in
- 8:07Speaker 2: addition to writing F.U., Chyna also allegedly texted, it's over,
- 8:11Speaker 2: and called Rob a fat bitch, adding that his disgusting
- 8:15Speaker 2: sex is horrible. Rhodes also said that the alleged text
- 8:19Speaker 2: came on the very same day that E! News executives
- 8:23Speaker 2: were still trying to save the show. So he claims
- 8:28Speaker 2: that E! and the production company encouraged Rob and Chyna
- 8:32Speaker 2: to try to work things out and go to a
- 8:34Speaker 2: retreat together. Since E! was coming to a close and
- 8:38Speaker 2: the deadline option of picking up season two, he also
- 8:41Speaker 2: showed alleged texts from a Bun and Murray executive letting
- 8:44Speaker 2: Chris know that they found a retreat for the former
- 8:48Speaker 2: couple and stated that the family was on board with
- 8:51Speaker 2: pausing the show to save their relationship. So they're saying,
- 8:56Speaker 2: Chris and everybody was like, yes, go on this retreat. Like,
- 8:59Speaker 2: hopefully you'll be together and we continue on with the show.
- 9:02Speaker 2: But in this state, we need to put a pause. Well,
- 9:05Speaker 2: then in July of 2017, Rose noted that Chyna and
- 9:08Speaker 2: her then lawyer at the time, Lisa Bloom, who's right
- 9:11Speaker 2: in the building next door, filed a temporary restraining order
- 9:15Speaker 2: against Rob, which meant they could no longer be in
- 9:17Speaker 2: the same room. This, as Rose explained, came shortly before
- 9:25Speaker 2: the official deadline for the show's second season in August.
- 9:29Speaker 2: So if a restraining order is issued in July... And
- 9:34Speaker 2: the executives are sitting around and saying, should we renew
- 9:37Speaker 2: season two of Robin China about a couple in love?
- 9:41Speaker 2: That's supposed to be funny and having. So obviously that
- 9:48Speaker 2: would give people them to go. Maybe not. So right
- 9:51Speaker 2: before their trial was that we saw that part about China.
- 9:54Speaker 2: So that's basically where we're at. And so so that.
- 10:00Speaker 2: that's where it's at. It's like she, Black China, is saying, no,
- 10:04Speaker 2: that you got it canceled. And they also said in
- 10:08Speaker 2: another article I read, the Kardashians' attorney said that he
- 10:12Speaker 2: paid China, $ 100, 000 for a quit fee. There must have
- 10:18Speaker 2: been an option in the contract that says, and if
- 10:23Speaker 2: we choose to end it, you will still get $ 100, 000
- 10:26Speaker 2: even though we're not going to film the second season.
- 10:29Speaker 2: That's what I'm guessing. And they already had paid her
- 10:32Speaker 2: like $ 300, 000 for the first season and then another.
- 10:35Speaker 3: $ 100, 000.
- 10:36Speaker 2: When the show ended. China's saying that they then Said
- 10:41Speaker 2: cancel this show. The lady said cancel this show. The Kardashians.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Because we don't think it's good for Rob. And we
- 10:49Speaker 2: don't like Chyna. And we want. Instead we will give.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Keeping up with Kylie. Or when Kylie had her one
- 10:56Speaker 2: show for that. Life of Kylie. She had a season
- 10:59Speaker 2: with Jordan Woods. Her former best friend. Where they just
- 11:02Speaker 2: kind of like did fun things. They went to some proms.
- 11:05Speaker 2: And did some charity work. And she did something really
- 11:07Speaker 2: nice for a friend of mine's daughter. They did that show.
- 11:11Speaker 2: And that only ran one season, too. So Blac Chyna
- 11:14Speaker 2: is claiming that they made that happen and thus screwed
- 11:18Speaker 2: her out of all this money. She would have been
- 11:20Speaker 2: the biggest reality star ever. According to Tokyo Tony, her mother,
- 11:24Speaker 2: she was going to put the real back in reality TV.
- 11:26Speaker 2: I mean, I think this is going to be a
- 11:33Speaker 2: juicy thing to see because, yes, I would think they
- 11:35Speaker 2: would have tried to settle. But at the same time,
- 11:37Speaker 2: the fact that just like Johnny Depp, that all of
- 11:40Speaker 2: them are there every day in court. I think they
- 11:42Speaker 2: really want to get what they believe their truth is out.
- 11:48Speaker 2: It's crazy. Their daughter's five. Oh, also in one of
- 11:52Speaker 2: the houses that they were at, it was Kylie had
- 11:54Speaker 2: given the house for Rob and Chyna to live in
- 11:57Speaker 2: and she had completely decorated it with Christmas decorations and stuff.
- 12:01Speaker 2: And then the horrible fight happened. She'd even decorated a
- 12:04Speaker 2: nursery for Dream. This is before Kylie was a mom
- 12:06Speaker 2: because Stormy's only four. And it seemed like they were
- 12:11Speaker 2: really trying. And I even remember when they first got together,
- 12:15Speaker 2: how Chris said, I love that China's with my son, Rob.
- 12:19Speaker 2: He is out. He's happy. He's going to this deli.
- 12:22Speaker 2: This is wonderful. So I actually think they were really encouraging,
- 12:27Speaker 2: in my opinion, to this relationship when it began. But
- 12:30Speaker 2: we all saw how destructive and awful it got. And
- 12:33Speaker 2: we all saw when she moved out and he walked
- 12:35Speaker 2: around with his, camera and he was on Instagram and he's,
- 12:39Speaker 2: you know, saying, I can't believe everything is gone. And
- 12:42Speaker 2: people were joking that it was like the Grinch who
- 12:43Speaker 2: stole Christmas. Like they, they did memes of black China,
- 12:47Speaker 2: like a Grinch, like taking all the gifts and all
- 12:50Speaker 2: the babies. So he was pretty heartbroken. And then, yeah,
- 12:56Speaker 2: did she, I don't know. Listen, it wasn't a relationship
- 13:01Speaker 2: to last a lifetime or even a second season of
- 13:04Speaker 2: a reality show, but Apparently, her lawyers would not be
- 13:08Speaker 2: going this far unless they feel that they have some
- 13:10Speaker 2: real evidence to sway a jury into believing to their side.
- 13:13Speaker 2: So super juicy with that. On Potomac News, Ashley Darby
- 13:21Speaker 2: has announced that she and her husband, Michael Darby, are separated.
- 13:27Speaker 2: If you're not familiar with this reality show, this couple,
- 13:30Speaker 2: it was such a mismatch. They were about 25 years apart.
- 13:34Speaker 2: He is this older white Australian guy. She's this beautiful
- 13:38Speaker 2: black girl. And they had two little boys close in age.
- 13:43Speaker 2: And she admitted that she was bisexual, that they were swingers. Well,
- 13:48Speaker 2: not swingers, but they'd bring in like an extra girl sometimes.
- 13:53Speaker 2: There was alleged things where he was pursuing guys on
- 13:58Speaker 2: the side. He was obsessed with Robin Dixon's husband, Juan,
- 14:02Speaker 2: obsessed with him. He was accused of grabbing the ass
- 14:06Speaker 2: of a cameraman. Then he got caught with a stripper
- 14:10Speaker 2: in a hotel room, though he said they just talked
- 14:13Speaker 2: and took a nap. Anyway, it came out yesterday. They're
- 14:20Speaker 2: currently filming, so I'm sure it'll be part of the
- 14:22Speaker 2: season that we see. She's a very cute girl. Everyone's
- 14:26Speaker 2: very happy to see her move on. There is a
- 14:29Speaker 2: big back history to some stuff I heard about them.
- 14:32Speaker 2: That'll be on Patreon. So go to HeatherMcDonald.net and click
- 14:37Speaker 2: on Patreon, join that, change your life. Now for my
- 14:40Speaker 2: very juicy interview with Jen, we go a little bit
- 14:43Speaker 2: deeper into some of the Johnny Depp trial stuff. A
- 14:48Speaker 2: couple of things that came up that I didn't get
- 14:50Speaker 2: to talk about with Jen that I just want to
- 14:52Speaker 2: say that I just read about is we did hear
- 14:54Speaker 2: the story about the fecal matter and The fecal matter
- 14:57Speaker 2: story between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is that they
- 15:00Speaker 2: were fighting, and he was going to go back to
- 15:02Speaker 2: the house to pick up some things, and his security said,
- 15:05Speaker 2: I don't think it's a good idea that you come
- 15:07Speaker 2: here right now. We found something under the covers that's
- 15:09Speaker 2: very disturbing. And there was a pretty decent-sized shit in
- 15:13Speaker 2: the middle of where he would normally sleep in the bed,
- 15:16Speaker 2: and they'd covered it with a blanket, so he could
- 15:19Speaker 2: just crawl in there and get snuggly, and there'd be
- 15:22Speaker 2: a poo waiting for him. Amber has since said, I
- 15:27Speaker 2: did not do that. It must have been one of
- 15:28Speaker 2: our little Yorkies. But according to people that are big
- 15:31Speaker 2: on Yorkies, and they've looked at the evidence, they said
- 15:35Speaker 2: the poo was too large for a Yorkie poo. I
- 15:38Speaker 2: don't know. He, in recalling the story on the stand,
- 15:41Speaker 2: kind of chuckled about it. This was one of many
- 15:45Speaker 2: weird things that he went through with her. He also
- 15:47Speaker 2: said when he got married that his daughter, who was
- 15:49Speaker 2: 15 at the time, she's 22 now, Lily Rose, did
- 15:53Speaker 2: not want to come to the wedding. She did not
- 15:54Speaker 2: get along. with Amber, um, at all. Uh, they're the thing,
- 16:00Speaker 2: whole thing about the finger. They share the audio from the,
- 16:04Speaker 2: the fact that I guess he was taping her or
- 16:07Speaker 2: she was taping him, but there's audio of her talking, um, Well,
- 16:13Speaker 2: one about how he cut his finger. He got into
- 16:15Speaker 2: that about the vodka bottles. But then there's another audio
- 16:17Speaker 2: about how she said, don't be such a baby. I
- 16:20Speaker 2: didn't punch you. And he said, yes, you did. And
- 16:23Speaker 2: she goes, no, I was hitting you. I wasn't punching you.
- 16:28Speaker 2: That's on audio. And so he is on and it's
- 16:32Speaker 2: all about the abuse that he suffered at the hands
- 16:36Speaker 2: of Amber, not what she claimed where she was a
- 16:39Speaker 2: victim of him. So Oh, and then the last thing
- 16:43Speaker 2: was when he said at one point she was hitting him,
- 16:47Speaker 2: and so he had to hold her like in a
- 16:48Speaker 2: bear hug. And then she said to him, you broke
- 16:51Speaker 2: my nose. And she brought out this tissue that had
- 16:54Speaker 2: what he thought had blood on it. And he goes, what?
- 16:57Speaker 2: What do you mean? I didn't mean to. What's going on?
- 17:00Speaker 2: And he went into the bathroom. He says it's on
- 17:03Speaker 2: the stand. And he found the tissue that she was holding,
- 17:06Speaker 2: and it had red nail polish on it.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Oh.
- 17:11Speaker 2: So this is just going to, I'm sure he's going
- 17:13Speaker 2: to do another day tomorrow. Jen and I go a
- 17:16Speaker 2: little bit more about the psychologically of their, their psychology
- 17:18Speaker 2: of their relationship in his childhood. And then the Louis
- 17:21Speaker 2: CK story and then some sex in the city. So
- 17:23Speaker 2: we still have a huge show. Here we go with
- 17:25Speaker 2: Jen Kirkman. Hello and welcome to Juicy Scoop. I'm here
- 17:30Speaker 2: with a very good friend that I've had for a
- 17:32Speaker 2: long time. She's on the East coast, comedian, podcaster, author,
- 17:38Speaker 2: TV writer, comedian. Jen Kirkman, welcome to Juicy Scope.
- 17:43Speaker 7: Heather, I've missed you. Thank you for having me. I
- 17:45Speaker 7: didn't realize you did Zoom ones. I mean, I'm sure
- 17:47Speaker 7: you don't want too many people doing it. It's probably annoying.
- 17:51Speaker 5: So I would have totally... Although.
- 17:53Speaker 7: No, my schedule wouldn't permit. I was going to say
- 17:55Speaker 7: I should have totally jumped on and Zoomed with you
- 17:56Speaker 7: about Sex and the City 2.
- 17:57Speaker 5: But anyway, I'm so glad I can be here today.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I want to ask about that. We have a lot
- 18:02Speaker 2: to cover. Yeah, there's a lot to catch up on.
- 18:04Speaker 2: We are going to get into... And the biggest thing
- 18:07Speaker 2: that's going on, you have a direct connection to our boy,
- 18:12Speaker 2: Johnny Depp.
- 18:13Speaker 5: I do? Yes.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Through someone very close to you.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Oh, that's right.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Yes, I do. Okay. So I've just checked the latest
- 18:23Speaker 2: on it.
- 18:23Speaker 7: I was just watching before we came on and it
- 18:25Speaker 7: was so... It was like, it was like God intervened
- 18:28Speaker 7: because they just went on a lunch break. And I
- 18:30Speaker 7: saw the last, I just watched the last of Johnny's
- 18:33Speaker 7: testimony right before I logged on with you.
- 18:35Speaker 5: So anyway, I'm real caught up.
- 18:36Speaker 2: So I did catch everybody up on Tuesday's show. So
- 18:41Speaker 2: now Johnny is on his second day of testimony. And
- 18:45Speaker 2: what we covered yesterday was, Just really, and his sister
- 18:50Speaker 2: testified to this too, which is really interesting, is they
- 18:53Speaker 2: set the stage for what his childhood was like. Besides
- 18:56Speaker 2: being raised as a Southern gentleman, in which he says,
- 18:59Speaker 2: I've never touched a woman, hit a woman, never ever,
- 19:03Speaker 2: which is what the lawsuit is about. He's suing her
- 19:07Speaker 2: for $ 50 million because she wrote this article saying she
- 19:09Speaker 2: was a victim of domestic abuse. And he feels that's
- 19:13Speaker 2: why he can no longer get work. and she's countersuing
- 19:16Speaker 2: him for $ 100 million. So we're in court, and he
- 19:19Speaker 2: establishes the fact that his mother was verbally and physically abusive.
- 19:23Speaker 2: His father never fought back with his mother, and the
- 19:26Speaker 2: father finally, when Johnny was 15, said, I can't take
- 19:29Speaker 2: it anymore, moved out, left. But what was also interesting
- 19:34Speaker 2: is that he still had a great love for his
- 19:36Speaker 2: mother because he said, when Amber and I got married,
- 19:40Speaker 2: she had about three months to live, and we wanted
- 19:42Speaker 2: to make sure that we had the actual, like, Real or,
- 19:46Speaker 2: you know, legal ceremony in her presence. at her home.
- 19:51Speaker 2: And then we had the big fancy wedding, I guess,
- 19:54Speaker 2: in the Bahamas where he has his island. So that
- 19:57Speaker 2: shows a lot that he still lives. But it's very
- 20:00Speaker 2: interesting to me because so, I was just talking about
- 20:02Speaker 2: this with my son, like so many people marry their
- 20:05Speaker 2: mother or marry their father or have a similar dynamic
- 20:09Speaker 2: in their own marriage as the one that they witnessed
- 20:12Speaker 2: in their home. And sometimes it can be very positive.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Sometimes it can be quirky or funny. And then sometimes
- 20:17Speaker 2: it can be really bad.
- 20:19Speaker 3: The car is beautiful.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Where did you end up going for it?
- 20:22Speaker 3: This exclusive place that Dad has connections with. they have
- 20:25Speaker 3: more cars for more dealerships than, like, anywhere else.
- 20:28Speaker 2: You have to put me in touch. What's it called?
- 20:30Speaker 3: It's Dunediel.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Where? Dunediel.
- 20:35Speaker 3: There's an accent on the E.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Do you mean.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Yes, I got it on Dunediel Cars.
- 20:40Speaker 6: Lift?
- 20:41Speaker 2: Please. You going past Kimmage? Oh, Kimmage. No.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Dunediel Cars. You couldn't possibly go anywhere else.
- 20:49Speaker 6: I'm Darman, and this is What Happens Next. Each week
- 20:52Speaker 6: on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people who
- 20:55Speaker 6: have faced tremendous setbacks and yet somehow have found a
- 21:00Speaker 6: way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Life is one long lesson of chaos.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I'm heading to the Emmys and I have police complaints
- 21:08Speaker 2: filed against me. When your free will was about to
- 21:10Speaker 2: be taken from you, what would you do if it
- 21:13Speaker 2: was given back?
- 21:13Speaker 6: Where did that need come from where you thought that
- 21:16Speaker 6: you had to succeed in order to feel loved?
- 21:19Speaker 2: He said, I have a work dad. I need a
- 21:20Speaker 2: home dad. What happens next? When I came in, he
- 21:23Speaker 2: started crying.
- 21:24Speaker 6: Everybody in life encounters hardships. What defines them is not
- 21:28Speaker 6: those hard moments that they go through. It's about what
- 21:31Speaker 6: happens next.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I decided to risk it all. I realized how valuable
- 21:35Speaker 2: every day was.
- 21:35Speaker 3: You're worth the work.
- 21:36Speaker 8: Listen, Dara, I'm not going to pull punches.
- 21:38Speaker 2: You can use your voice even if it's shaped.
- 21:41Speaker 6: The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
- 21:44Speaker 6: Only one question matters. What happens next?
- 21:56Speaker 7: So I am really, I'm a student of psychology. I mean,
- 21:59Speaker 7: not literally, I'm not going to say, but I'm obsessed
- 22:01Speaker 7: with this kind of thing. And I do have some
- 22:05Speaker 7: experience in, let's just say my family, not nothing happened
- 22:08Speaker 7: to me, but others out, you know, in my family
- 22:13Speaker 7: and with someone who's abused, they will always side with
- 22:18Speaker 7: the abuser. That's a very common thing with kids is
- 22:21Speaker 7: because like you can't, see your parents as bad. It'll
- 22:25Speaker 7: like your brain won't let you. So you have to
- 22:27Speaker 7: have all the sympathy for them. And he probably, so
- 22:30Speaker 7: whatever he did to soothe himself and I've been reading,
- 22:32Speaker 7: he started taking his mom's nerve pills when he was 11. And,
- 22:37Speaker 7: and it's funny because I do remember him talking on
- 22:39Speaker 7: talk shows about how much he loved his mother, the
- 22:41Speaker 7: single mom, the waitress. And so I always thought, Oh,
- 22:45Speaker 7: his mom was a single mom because the dad was
- 22:47Speaker 7: a jerk and he left. And it's like, he left
- 22:49Speaker 7: because he was abused. So this all makes sense that like,
- 22:52Speaker 7: it's very believable that he was abused because when he said,
- 22:56Speaker 7: when he first met Amber Heard and they kissed on set, right.
- 22:59Speaker 7: And he said, I felt something I shouldn't have been
- 23:01Speaker 7: feeling like there was an attraction between them. That can
- 23:05Speaker 7: be sometimes like a traumatic like thing in his like
- 23:09Speaker 7: DNA going off. Like that feels so intense. Like it's,
- 23:12Speaker 7: he doesn't even have to know that Amber Heard was
- 23:14Speaker 7: going to eventually abuse him. Like some primal thing was
- 23:17Speaker 7: going off. It's like part of the attraction. So, I
- 23:19Speaker 7: think this all lines up. This is my armchair psychology degree.
- 23:23Speaker 7: But I think it is so– and even I'm looking
- 23:26Speaker 7: on Twitter and victims of this kind of thing are
- 23:29Speaker 7: saying the way he's talking is how a victim and
- 23:32Speaker 7: someone with PTSD talks. Like he's having trouble. He doesn't
- 23:36Speaker 7: want to feel the feelings that come up remembering it
- 23:38Speaker 7: and he's really ashamed.
- 23:39Speaker 5: And I think– I mean I completely believe him.
- 23:44Speaker 2: I definitely believe what everything he's saying on the stand
- 23:47Speaker 2: is true.
- 23:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Look, we all knew that he had a problem with
- 24:08Speaker 2: drugs and alcohol. And, well, he claims it wasn't really alcohol,
- 24:12Speaker 2: but he was a practicing pirate for many years. So
- 24:15Speaker 2: clearly he's going to like a booze.
- 24:18Speaker 5: Who does he mean his own alcohol?
- 24:19Speaker 7: He spent like 30 grand a month on wine. That
- 24:21Speaker 7: was a story that was out like years ago. We
- 24:23Speaker 7: did it on Chelsea.
- 24:24Speaker 2: He's kind of saying, though, like, well, I wasn't, you know,
- 24:27Speaker 2: I wouldn't pass. I wasn't drinking where I'd throw up.
- 24:32Speaker 2: I would pass out because of these. Of the, you know,
- 24:35Speaker 2: of these pills and he talks about the opiates and yes,
- 24:38Speaker 2: he obviously had an issue with both of it, you know. But,
- 24:42Speaker 2: you know, he's also fun and she also, he said
- 24:45Speaker 2: every time he came home, it was interesting when he,
- 24:48Speaker 2: the way he's recollect, recalling like the beginning part of
- 24:52Speaker 2: their relationship, as you said, they were working on this movie,
- 24:54Speaker 2: he was still in his 14 year relationship with the
- 24:58Speaker 2: mother of his children, Vanessa. And they had a love
- 25:01Speaker 2: scene where they make out and there was a real
- 25:04Speaker 2: chemistry there. And he said at the time I was
- 25:06Speaker 2: with Vanessa, she was with her wife, you know, she's
- 25:09Speaker 2: been bisexual and had relationships with men and women. Then
- 25:13Speaker 2: she came back to a trailer that night and they
- 25:15Speaker 2: made out again. Yeah. And, and then that was it.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I kind of don't know if that's true, but anyway, Um,
- 25:22Speaker 2: who knows? So then she leaves and then we really
- 25:24Speaker 2: didn't talk again until press two years later. And then
- 25:27Speaker 2: by that time, I guess they were both available to
- 25:30Speaker 2: pursue it. And then he goes, and then when it
- 25:32Speaker 2: first started, it was amazing. I'd come home from a
- 25:35Speaker 2: long day of shooting something and she would bring me
- 25:37Speaker 2: a glass of wine and she would remove my boots.
- 25:41Speaker 2: You know, I'm just imagining like the pirates of the
- 25:43Speaker 2: Caribbean boots, like.
- 25:45Speaker 5: So dirty and smelly.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Yes. And so he goes, and then one time I
- 25:49Speaker 2: came home and, she was doing something, she was on
- 25:51Speaker 2: the phone or something. So I sat down and I
- 25:53Speaker 2: took off my own boots and she came over angry
- 25:55Speaker 2: and said, what are you doing? That's my job. I
- 26:00Speaker 2: thought that was just so manipulative and weird and such
- 26:04Speaker 2: a sign that men and women do when they love
- 26:06Speaker 2: bomb and, you know, and then all of a sudden
- 26:09Speaker 2: it changes, you know, like, oh my God, I came
- 26:11Speaker 2: home to flowers and wine and this and that. And
- 26:14Speaker 2: then it's like this. And especially with a girl that's
- 26:17Speaker 2: kind of trying to become like a chameleon that he
- 26:21Speaker 2: falls in love with. Like her assistant said, oh, she
- 26:23Speaker 2: was dressing like him. She wanted her apartment to look bohemian.
- 26:27Speaker 2: She got rid of her paper books and was trying
- 26:29Speaker 2: to curate a beautiful hardcover first edition, you know, great
- 26:33Speaker 2: stuff of literature that he bought her. And like, just
- 26:37Speaker 2: that whole... thing that people do that all of a
- 26:40Speaker 2: sudden you're like, Oh my God, I love red vines.
- 26:42Speaker 2: He loves red vines. We're perfect for it. I mean like, yeah,
- 26:45Speaker 2: it's just.
- 26:45Speaker 7: It reminds me of like, yeah, like I'm not, I
- 26:48Speaker 7: don't really love true crime. It freaks me out, but
- 26:49Speaker 7: I do know the dirty John story. And you think
- 26:51Speaker 7: of like this guy was like homeless in a trailer,
- 26:56Speaker 7: a drug addict pretending to be a doctor, but he
- 26:58Speaker 7: was so good to her first. And then the minute
- 27:01Speaker 7: that person commits that you're love bombing, they turn. And
- 27:04Speaker 7: this happened to a friend of mine. Like in a
- 27:06Speaker 7: relationship with someone for a year. And then once she
- 27:09Speaker 7: was like, okay, I'm in love with you.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Let's do this.
- 27:11Speaker 7: He became a crazy psycho. And it's like, you can't
- 27:14Speaker 7: believe it's happening at first. You're like, maybe, I don't know.
- 27:17Speaker 5: Like, I think it.
- 27:18Speaker 7: Takes a long time to realize this is them and
- 27:22Speaker 7: they're not going through something and who knows, but it's,
- 27:25Speaker 7: it's amazing. They find the right victim though, that will
- 27:28Speaker 7: put up with it.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Well, also the beginning of it is so fantastic and
- 27:32Speaker 2: something that you've never experienced with any other relationship that
- 27:35Speaker 2: you chase it. You're like, well, we were here once.
- 27:38Speaker 2: There's got to be a way to get back to
- 27:40Speaker 2: that incredible time of taking off my boots and serving
- 27:43Speaker 2: me wine versus her saying to him, who would ever
- 27:47Speaker 2: want you in a Dior ad? You're a fat old
- 27:49Speaker 2: man and you and your friends are boring playing guitar.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Like where did that? Where did that go? And I
- 27:56Speaker 2: think that's where he was just like, what is happening?
- 27:58Speaker 2: And then again, struggling with getting off the opiates and,
- 28:02Speaker 2: and you know, all that is what I think he's
- 28:04Speaker 2: trying to display on the stand.
- 28:07Speaker 7: Now I will say this because I get more shit
- 28:10Speaker 7: from my fans than anyone gets from their fans. Like
- 28:13Speaker 7: my fans hate me and I know your fans won't
- 28:16Speaker 7: do this to me, but mine will probably tune in and,
- 28:19Speaker 7: and I can hear it now. You speak out against
- 28:21Speaker 7: all these abusers and I can't believe you just Cause
- 28:24Speaker 7: you think he's cute. You think I'm like, no, I,
- 28:27Speaker 7: I thought that he was the abuser at first, totally
- 28:29Speaker 7: believed it.
- 28:30Speaker 5: Then I know people that know her. I know it's
- 28:32Speaker 5: all hearsay, but.
- 28:33Speaker 7: That she's been a little problematic in life before this
- 28:37Speaker 7: kind of a verbal abuser in relationships.
- 28:40Speaker 5: Now, again, hearsay.
- 28:41Speaker 7: Now, again, people will say, well, what about their therapist
- 28:44Speaker 7: that says there was mutual abuse? I don't think that
- 28:46Speaker 7: was a very good wording on her part. There is
- 28:48Speaker 7: a thing when you're a victim where you will fucking
- 28:51Speaker 7: snap and you might throw something back and like, yes, drugs,
- 28:55Speaker 7: who knows what can happen when you're under the influence,
- 28:56Speaker 7: but he's been on drugs and drinking the whole life.
- 29:00Speaker 7: And his other partners say he didn't do this. Now
- 29:02Speaker 7: we do know that he trashed a hotel room with
- 29:04Speaker 7: Kate Moss. I don't know if there was violence towards
- 29:07Speaker 7: each other or they're just high and trashing things.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Cause I thought it was funny.
- 29:10Speaker 7: Like, I don't know, but I'm just here to say,
- 29:15Speaker 7: I support the fact that men can be abused by women.
- 29:17Speaker 7: I think that's very important. And it does sound like
- 29:20Speaker 7: he was abused. I don't think it was mutual, like
- 29:24Speaker 7: Sid and Nancy, they're beating each other up, but I'm
- 29:27Speaker 7: not trying to sound like anti-woman. I just think this
- 29:30Speaker 7: is one of those cases where she might be a sociopath.
- 29:34Speaker 7: So everyone can send me hate mail and goodbye.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Okay. Now in her defense, he said on the stand today,
- 29:42Speaker 2: he said, you know, he's trying to get off these
- 29:45Speaker 2: opiate drugs, opiates drugs. Am I saying it right? And
- 29:49Speaker 2: through this doctor, Dr. Kipler, who also I mentioned treated
- 29:55Speaker 2: Ozzy Osbourne and Ozzy in the end said he wasn't
- 29:57Speaker 2: happy with the treatment, but whatever. So, you know, and
- 30:00Speaker 2: it's a form of different medications to wean you off
- 30:05Speaker 2: of the pain that happens when you try to get
- 30:07Speaker 2: off of these very addictive painkillers. And so he said
- 30:11Speaker 2: it's 2.30 and he's like, can you please give me
- 30:14Speaker 2: my meds to Amber? And she's like, no, it's not
- 30:18Speaker 2: four o'clock yet. Like that's not four o'clock. And so
- 30:21Speaker 2: then he goes on to say, you know, how awful
- 30:23Speaker 2: it was. And he gets in great detail of coming
- 30:25Speaker 2: off these drugs. And as someone who has never been
- 30:27Speaker 2: addicted to drugs or alcohol, it is definitely something I
- 30:31Speaker 2: never want to experience. It's a good lesson for people
- 30:33Speaker 2: to watch this and be very careful with it because
- 30:36Speaker 2: it does sound hell painful. But in her defense, like. okay,
- 30:42Speaker 2: the doctor said four o'clock. Like if I give it
- 30:44Speaker 2: to you at two 30, is tomorrow you going to
- 30:46Speaker 2: ask for it at two? Like, are we going backwards?
- 30:48Speaker 2: She's not a medical doctor. She's not an addiction expert.
- 30:51Speaker 2: She's trying to be the good partner. I mean, that
- 30:54Speaker 2: would be my defense if I was her like, yeah.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Does this sound like it was a fun weekend in
- 30:59Speaker 2: the Bahamas? No, it wasn't, you know, like, yeah. So
- 31:04Speaker 2: I mean, I kind of was, cause I do feel
- 31:07Speaker 2: like right now it's like, Definitely. I mean, the fans
- 31:11Speaker 2: are lined up. There's people dressed like some of his
- 31:14Speaker 2: favorite characters. They said no one's Jack Sparrow, but they're
- 31:17Speaker 2: like some 17-year-old kid that's dressed like, what's the Vegas one?
- 31:21Speaker 5: Oh, Leaving Las Vegas.
- 31:23Speaker 4: No.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Not Leaving.
- 31:24Speaker 5: The Rum Diary?
- 31:25Speaker 2: No. No, where he has the glasses. He's like 70s
- 31:28Speaker 2: and drugs. Yes, I don't remember the name. Yeah, it's
- 31:31Speaker 2: all about drugs. I never loved that movie, by the way. No.
- 31:35Speaker 5: But wait, why is no one dressed as Captain Jack,
- 31:37Speaker 5: the most fun one?
- 31:38Speaker 2: I don't know. They just said there's no– according to,
- 31:42Speaker 2: I think, Page Six, they just said there's other people
- 31:45Speaker 2: dressed up as things and people have spent money to
- 31:47Speaker 2: get there and there are fans outside and there are
- 31:50Speaker 2: fans waiting.
- 31:50Speaker 5: That's a little crazy.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Yes.
- 31:52Speaker 7: Is anyone dressed like scissor hands with scissors for hands
- 31:55Speaker 7: wearing leather?
- 32:00Speaker 2: I also predict that SNL will probably, I don't know
- 32:03Speaker 2: if SNL will mock this because the subject is so serious,
- 32:08Speaker 2: but if I was on SNL, I'd be pitching that
- 32:11Speaker 2: we do the trial and in the back are Scissorhands,
- 32:15Speaker 2: Captain Jack, Benny and June, 21 Jump Street, just like
- 32:20Speaker 2: all the people. And with notepads, acting very serious, but
- 32:24Speaker 2: they're in these costumes. That would be amazing.
- 32:26Speaker 7: I think the funniest thing is, This is different than
- 32:29Speaker 7: other trials I've seen where the lawyer asks you a
- 32:32Speaker 7: question and they just let you keep talking.
- 32:35Speaker 5: So they'll be like, how did you meet Amber Heard?
- 32:36Speaker 5: And he starts with the meeting he.
- 32:39Speaker 7: Had with Hunter S. Thompson to make a movie of
- 32:43Speaker 7: his book, The Rum Diary. He's like, and then you
- 32:44Speaker 7: commit suicide. And then, well, then we found this director
- 32:48Speaker 7: who he said he never wanted to direct again, but
- 32:50Speaker 7: he really loved the project and so on. And then
- 32:53Speaker 7: he just, I'm like, they asked how you met. Like,
- 32:55Speaker 7: clearly the answer is she auditioned for the movie. But
- 32:57Speaker 7: he goes into these, like, long things. And then he
- 32:59Speaker 7: was like, I tuned in to the trial, like, in
- 33:02Speaker 7: the middle of it. And the first thing I saw
- 33:04Speaker 7: was he was like, coming up with the character of
- 33:06Speaker 7: Jack Sparrow was like, it's like a soup. It's a
- 33:08Speaker 7: little bit Keith Richards. It's a little bit Pepe Le Pew.
- 33:12Speaker 7: His brain was scrambled from being in the sun.
- 33:15Speaker 2: And, yeah.
- 33:16Speaker 5: And I'm like, what are they asking him?
- 33:18Speaker 7: Like, he is just, it's like a master class in
- 33:21Speaker 7: how movies are made.
- 33:22Speaker 2: I love it. Well, the way I understand it from
- 33:25Speaker 2: not being a lawyer is that in this particular type
- 33:27Speaker 2: of a case, because it's not like a murder trial,
- 33:30Speaker 2: he is getting questioned by his own attorney. Oh, okay.
- 33:35Speaker 2: So she's allowing him to go on and on and
- 33:38Speaker 2: on and on. and not saying, hey, get to the point,
- 33:41Speaker 2: like a prosecutor would with a murder person. And they're
- 33:45Speaker 2: just sitting back, taking notes, Amber's people, so that they
- 33:49Speaker 2: can combat what he has said. So right now, he
- 33:53Speaker 2: can ramble, and I think they realize that it's up
- 33:57Speaker 2: to the jury, for the jury to decide, does he
- 34:00Speaker 2: get money, does she get money, does no one get money?
- 34:03Speaker 2: So I think the more that they can show him
- 34:05Speaker 2: being And telling his story of, like, what he's been
- 34:09Speaker 2: through from drug rehab, from being a delight on set,
- 34:12Speaker 2: to his relationships, to his true love that he had
- 34:15Speaker 2: for Amber, calling her misheard, showing the pain that he
- 34:20Speaker 2: has when he's, like, again, sort of trying to protect
- 34:23Speaker 2: her in certain situations. Oh, and I hate to reveal
- 34:27Speaker 2: this part of the story, but, you know, she was
- 34:30Speaker 2: just chopping some carrots or doing something in the kitchen.
- 34:34Speaker 2: I said, may I please? please have my meds now
- 34:38Speaker 2: and and you know it's like this long and and
- 34:43Speaker 2: we're like seeing true theater like it's like so they're
- 34:46Speaker 2: you know that's what's gonna happen you want them to
- 34:48Speaker 2: be on your side so she's attorneys just like yeah
- 34:52Speaker 2: also i'm gonna say a little something and people may
- 34:54Speaker 2: or may not like it i've noticed a little flirty
- 34:56Speaker 2: between him and the brunette uh attorney oh i haven't Oh,
- 35:01Speaker 2: I'm going to have to... He's got a very pretty
- 35:03Speaker 2: brunette attorney. I'm not saying they're having an affair or anything.
- 35:07Speaker 2: I'm just saying if something was to happen a year
- 35:10Speaker 2: and a half from now, I would not be surprised.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Of course, he's a Southern gentleman, so he's offering her
- 35:16Speaker 2: a mint. He's laughing with her. He always makes sure
- 35:21Speaker 2: that he gets out first from the car and lets
- 35:24Speaker 2: the ladies out. He's the one that shuts the door,
- 35:27Speaker 2: not the security guard, not the driver. Um, I think
- 35:31Speaker 2: that is a natural thing. There are certain men that
- 35:34Speaker 2: are just raised that way and they just do it.
- 35:36Speaker 2: It's just automatic, which I love. Um, but there is
- 35:40Speaker 2: a little of that. Okay.
- 35:42Speaker 5: So how old is she though?
- 35:44Speaker 2: She looks like she's like, I mean, from what I've
- 35:46Speaker 2: seen of her just sitting next to him, this particular,
- 35:49Speaker 2: he has a few attorneys. He has the male attorney.
- 35:51Speaker 2: And then this girl, um, I don't think she looks
- 35:53Speaker 2: older than 40 to, in my opinion. Cause it could
- 35:56Speaker 2: be good for him. Someone who's nice.
- 35:58Speaker 7: But you know, as Chris Frangola says, and I'm, he says,
- 36:00Speaker 7: he says this and I'm like, I'm sure I said
- 36:03Speaker 7: this first.
- 36:03Speaker 5: Cause it's something I would say.
- 36:05Speaker 7: He's like, the problem is when you're in your fifties,
- 36:07Speaker 7: dating someone in their twenties, like you're not. And I'm like,
- 36:10Speaker 7: Chris is like, as I always say, and I texted
- 36:12Speaker 7: him like, well, I think you got that from sitting
- 36:14Speaker 7: next to me for 10.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Years at a job.
- 36:16Speaker 8: But okay.
- 36:16Speaker 5: But I, but I'm like, you're right. You want a
- 36:18Speaker 5: nice 47 year old.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:19Speaker 5: I'm 47. I'm barely interested in dating.
- 36:23Speaker 7: I'm not dating. I won't give you any problems. I'm
- 36:25Speaker 7: not possessive. I'll be podcasting in the kitchen most of
- 36:28Speaker 7: the day. We'll have some wine at night. We'll catch
- 36:30Speaker 7: up and then just go about your life. Like I got,
- 36:33Speaker 7: I'm so tired. I got no problems to give anyone.
- 36:36Speaker 7: And I'm still 11 years younger than him. I'm not
- 36:39Speaker 7: wanting to be with him, but I'm just saying these
- 36:41Speaker 7: famous 50 year olds who think they got to go 20.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Well, no, I mean, that's the thing. I mean, And
- 36:47Speaker 2: on top of it, a bisexual woman. Okay. Bisexuals come
- 36:51Speaker 2: at me. I don't think it's great to marry someone.
- 36:55Speaker 2: If you want a monogamous relationship and you're a heterosexual,
- 36:59Speaker 2: I don't think it's a wise thing to get with
- 37:02Speaker 2: someone who has had long-term relationships with the same sex.
- 37:06Speaker 2: I think that's already got a strike against you for
- 37:10Speaker 2: a long-term situation. I'm sorry.
- 37:12Speaker 5: I disagree.
- 37:13Speaker 7: Now, you don't have to marry bisexual, but I have
- 37:15Speaker 7: friends who are bisexual married the opposite gender that they
- 37:19Speaker 7: are and literally been married longer than I ever made it.
- 37:22Speaker 5: So it's like, you never know.
- 37:24Speaker 7: But to me, I don't see Amber as bisexual, let's
- 37:29Speaker 7: be honest. I do think Amber is more gay because
- 37:33Speaker 7: I don't think she, I don't know what men she
- 37:35Speaker 7: was with before Johnny.
- 37:36Speaker 5: I'm not saying he was the first, but it's ironic.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Do you think she just pursued Elon Musk because she's like,
- 37:42Speaker 2: She's social climbing. So she got Johnny Depp. She got
- 37:46Speaker 2: a famous actor. Now let me get, like, the richest
- 37:48Speaker 2: man on earth. Like, you know, like, let me just
- 37:51Speaker 2: keep going up the ladder because we know that she— Well,
- 37:53Speaker 2: that's the problem. Yeah.
- 37:55Speaker 5: I mean, it's ironic.
- 37:56Speaker 7: It's not like she cheated on him with a woman.
- 37:57Speaker 7: James Franco, Elon Musk.
- 37:59Speaker 2: It's like, she's like, really?
- 38:02Speaker 7: I mean, that— Elon Musk, like, how— just, ugh.
- 38:07Speaker 5: Like, you cheat.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Ugh.
- 38:09Speaker 5: So gross.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Anyway. Well, I mean, I just think she's one of
- 38:12Speaker 2: those girls that very much knows how to hook a
- 38:16Speaker 2: guy sexually, probably great in the sack, probably really knows
- 38:21Speaker 2: how to hook them in, how to tie them in,
- 38:23Speaker 2: like just like a black widow, Venus flytrap vagina. I
- 38:26Speaker 2: don't know whatever you want to call it, but she's
- 38:28Speaker 2: got it. And the other thing I did mention the
- 38:32Speaker 2: other day when I was going deep into her assistant's
- 38:35Speaker 2: testimony is She said she would make me go out
- 38:37Speaker 2: and buy all the tabloids and all the places where
- 38:41Speaker 2: she'd been photographed, which was more popular, you know, seven
- 38:44Speaker 2: years ago. And she'd say, hide them in the garage.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Don't let Johnny know that I care about this, that
- 38:52Speaker 2: we buy these things. Because he was, being that he
- 38:55Speaker 2: got famous at 21 or whatever, he was not a
- 38:58Speaker 2: fan of the paparazzi and he didn't like that. And
- 39:00Speaker 2: he wanted to have a private life. Why? He bought
- 39:02Speaker 2: the island. And so he was not one that loved that,
- 39:06Speaker 2: you know. And so she knows he would have been
- 39:08Speaker 2: turned off if he knew that. She also, I think,
- 39:11Speaker 2: pretended to be a lot more maternal. I think she
- 39:14Speaker 2: presented herself like, I'm going to be this super great stepmom,
- 39:17Speaker 2: super into her kids. Oh, my God, I want to
- 39:20Speaker 2: give all my money to Children's Hospital, which she never did,
- 39:23Speaker 2: the $ 7 million.
- 39:23Speaker 5: Oh, she didn't.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Did not. They could only find that she gave one
- 39:28Speaker 2: donation of $ 250, 000. $ 250, 000. And the assistant also said she
- 39:32Speaker 2: would cancel all her volunteering hours. Like she was set
- 39:36Speaker 2: to do it on three occasions. All three occasions she canceled.
- 39:40Speaker 2: I mean, I would too. So I mean, again, presenting
- 39:44Speaker 2: yourself like you're Mother Teresa, when you're clearly not. You're
- 39:48Speaker 2: not in, you know, you aren't into it.
- 39:49Speaker 7: What is wrong with him that he's like, oh, good,
- 39:51Speaker 7: I found a woman who dresses just like me?
- 39:53Speaker 5: Like, what? You know, doesn't a red flag or just like.
- 39:57Speaker 2: A turn off at least? I don't think he, I
- 39:59Speaker 2: think when he found her, he liked her for her.
- 40:01Speaker 2: I think she started to morph into him.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Or thinking that's what would hook him even more. But
- 40:10Speaker 2: let me get into the strong connection that you have
- 40:13Speaker 2: towards the real Johnny Depp.
- 40:16Speaker 5: One sec.
- 40:21Speaker 2: We'll just have to make a note. That's okay. Just
- 40:23Speaker 2: make a note of this.
- 40:25Speaker 7: I just had to pour myself more coffee.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 40:30Speaker 5: My real life connection to Johnny Depp.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Yes. Okay. Why don't you just start right there? The
- 40:36Speaker 2: real life connection that you have to him.
- 40:38Speaker 7: Well, my mom is a big Johnny Depp fan. I
- 40:41Speaker 7: just saw her this weekend. We celebrated her 84th birthday.
- 40:44Speaker 7: And my mom and dad, they go to the Foxwoods
- 40:46Speaker 7: Casino in Connecticut every weekend. And it's not just about
- 40:49Speaker 7: the gambling for them. They get free tickets to every
- 40:52Speaker 7: show there. And it's not hokey. They've got rock bands
- 40:57Speaker 7: that play. They've gone to see Smashing Pumpkins. They've seen,
- 41:01Speaker 7: my mom sees Ringo Starr's band play all the time.
- 41:03Speaker 7: She's a big fan of that. She's seen Alicia Keys.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Get to the Johnny Depp. Now you're as bad as
- 41:07Speaker 2: Johnny Depp on the stand.
- 41:09Speaker 5: That's right.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Get to the Johnny Depp.
- 41:10Speaker 7: So she has seen Johnny Depp's band, the Hollywood Vampires,
- 41:13Speaker 7: multiple times at Foxwoods.
- 41:15Speaker 5: And this is in the last 10 years. She is
- 41:17Speaker 5: a big fan.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Okay.
- 41:19Speaker 5: And she's always like, he is so cute. He's like, okay.
- 41:22Speaker 7: Right after the first breaking news years ago when Amber
- 41:25Speaker 7: Heard said he abused me, I was so disappointed because
- 41:28Speaker 7: I've always been a huge fan of his. And I
- 41:31Speaker 7: felt like, I'm sure it's true, you know, these guys.
- 41:34Speaker 5: And so... Let me just interrupt.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Do you think because of your strong resemblance to Winona
- 41:40Speaker 2: Ryder that you also felt that at one time you
- 41:43Speaker 2: could be in a relationship with Johnny?
- 41:45Speaker 8: No, I.
- 41:48Speaker 5: I don't see myself that way. I wish, but maybe,
- 41:50Speaker 5: maybe now.
- 41:51Speaker 8: Okay.
- 41:52Speaker 5: You know, maybe not in his heyday. So anyway, continue.
- 41:55Speaker 2: So you're, so when the story broke, yeah, go on.
- 41:58Speaker 7: When the story broke, I told my mom and she said, oh,
- 42:01Speaker 7: it's terrible. And then she still continued to go see
- 42:05Speaker 7: the Hollywood vampires play when, you know, a couple months later.
- 42:09Speaker 7: And I said, mom, if you were in the public eye,
- 42:11Speaker 7: you'd be canceled forever.
- 42:12Speaker 5: For such behavior, you know, supporting this abuser.
- 42:15Speaker 7: And she said, Jennifer, I don't believe the story because,
- 42:19Speaker 7: you know, he was playing and he was sort of
- 42:21Speaker 7: hanging his head down. And I said, that's what all
- 42:23Speaker 7: guys do with long hair and they play guitar. No, Jennifer,
- 42:26Speaker 7: it wasn't the way he was playing.
- 42:28Speaker 5: He looked ashamed.
- 42:30Speaker 7: Like it was different than the other times I've seen
- 42:32Speaker 7: the band where he's smiling and laughing and looking at
- 42:36Speaker 7: the audience. And he just had his head down. Like
- 42:38Speaker 7: he felt like he had a secret. And I said, well,
- 42:41Speaker 7: maybe the secret is that he's abusing someone. And he said, no, no,
- 42:45Speaker 7: he looked sad. I think there's more to the story.
- 42:50Speaker 7: And my mom gives everyone the benefit of the doubt.
- 42:52Speaker 5: So I just went, I don't know.
- 42:55Speaker 7: But my mom called it that she could see the
- 42:57Speaker 7: shame and that he was hiding something and keeping a secret.
- 43:03Speaker 2: But it was because that was after the story came out.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Did she see him change when he was with her
- 43:09Speaker 2: throughout the years being with her.
- 43:11Speaker 7: No, she said that during the shows, normally he was very,
- 43:16Speaker 7: you know, like he was having fun with the band
- 43:18Speaker 7: and they'd be like whispering things to each other and laughing.
- 43:20Speaker 7: And you know, when musicians think it's funny that they
- 43:23Speaker 7: play a note and they like look at each other
- 43:24Speaker 7: on stage, they're.
- 43:25Speaker 5: Doing that kind of thing.
- 43:26Speaker 7: But she said after the abuse allegations came out, he
- 43:29Speaker 7: seemed sort of off to the side and just kind
- 43:32Speaker 7: of like sat. And so– Well, I can see why–
- 43:35Speaker 7: I actually can see why your mom was not called
- 43:37Speaker 7: to the stand because now I don't think that's that
- 43:39Speaker 7: great of testimony for Johnny's side.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Well– I thought if it was that his demeanor changed
- 43:46Speaker 2: while he was in the thick of his relationship with her,
- 43:48Speaker 2: but we didn't know that they were going to break up.
- 43:51Speaker 5: We didn't know. And I don't know how much he
- 43:53Speaker 5: was playing during that. That's the thing.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Right.
- 43:56Speaker 7: He might– I think– But she also said, she's a bit,
- 43:59Speaker 7: this is just a plug, they're not paying me to
- 44:01Speaker 7: say this, but Sauvage by Dior, the perfume he wears, man,
- 44:06Speaker 7: that smells good. My dad, I was like, dad, you
- 44:08Speaker 7: smell real good.
- 44:09Speaker 5: This is at Christmas.
- 44:10Speaker 7: And he's never worn cologne in his life.
- 44:12Speaker 5: And he goes, just mom bought it for me. And
- 44:14Speaker 5: I said, what is it?
- 44:15Speaker 7: She goes, it's a Johnny Depp cologne. I bought it
- 44:17Speaker 7: so he'd smell like him. And it does smell great.
- 44:21Speaker 2: So it's unfortunate, though, that your mom couldn't get on
- 44:24Speaker 2: the jury because I would definitely pick her to be
- 44:26Speaker 2: on the jury. I just don't think I'd pick her
- 44:28Speaker 2: to be an eyewitness.
- 44:29Speaker 5: She doesn't need to.
- 44:30Speaker 7: Well, and then this weekend, I said, Mom, you know,
- 44:32Speaker 7: you were proven right. And she goes, oh, it's funny
- 44:34Speaker 7: you say that. I'm starting to change my mind and.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Think you did it.
- 44:38Speaker 5: I go, why do you think that?
- 44:40Speaker 7: And she goes, it's just going on so long. I go,
- 44:42Speaker 7: that's not a reason to. It's not his fault it's
- 44:45Speaker 7: going on so long. She keeps suing him. And he's
- 44:47Speaker 7: like finally speaking.
- 44:48Speaker 5: And she goes. I don't know.
- 44:49Speaker 7: It's like a little too much, you know, like, you know,
- 44:52Speaker 7: they fired him from all the movies.
- 44:53Speaker 5: I go, but that doesn't mean he did it. And
- 44:55Speaker 5: she goes, maybe you're right.
- 44:57Speaker 2: All right. All right.
- 44:58Speaker 5: I just was trying to like be more thoughtful about it.
- 45:01Speaker 5: So who knows where she's at right now?
- 45:02Speaker 2: Okay. So I'm going to tell you my prediction of
- 45:04Speaker 2: how it ends. And my prediction changes all the time,
- 45:07Speaker 2: just like your mother's. Okay.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Okay.
- 45:10Speaker 2: I think the jury, because it's, it's simultaneously, like the
- 45:14Speaker 2: case is simultaneously, like, you know, so. I think that
- 45:19Speaker 2: they are going to side in his favor, but they
- 45:24Speaker 2: are only going to make her give back half of
- 45:28Speaker 2: the $ 7 million. So I think she will have to
- 45:32Speaker 2: pay $ 4. 5 million to him, and that's it.
- 45:37Speaker 5: And the $ 50 million that he's suing for will not happen?
- 45:40Speaker 2: The $ 50 million, he will only be awarded $ 4. 5.
- 45:44Speaker 5: And isn't he suing the tabloids, or was that the
- 45:46Speaker 5: other trial?
- 45:47Speaker 2: He already lost that. That was in the UK and
- 45:49Speaker 2: he lost.
- 45:50Speaker 5: This is him suing her personally.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Yes. And he, yes.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:54Speaker 2: You know, and she, and she will obviously be awarded nothing,
- 45:58Speaker 2: but she will have to pay 4.5 million. That is
- 46:01Speaker 2: my prediction.
- 46:02Speaker 7: I think that's a good prediction. I'm, I haven't thought
- 46:05Speaker 7: about it. I'll just say, yeah, you're right. I do
- 46:07Speaker 7: think that no, even if she did do it.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:11Speaker 7: I think there's just a hesitancy to make a woman
- 46:13Speaker 7: pay out the ass.
- 46:15Speaker 5: To a guy that isn't perfect. Like he has drug problems,
- 46:18Speaker 5: you know, whatever.
- 46:19Speaker 7: And so I think that like people don't want to
- 46:23Speaker 7: do that. And so I think you're right. Like if
- 46:25Speaker 7: she pays anything, it'll be like this half what he,
- 46:28Speaker 7: you know what I mean? Like no way is she
- 46:30Speaker 7: ever going to be on the hook for 50 million
- 46:32Speaker 7: or even 10 million.
- 46:32Speaker 5: I think you're right.
- 46:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:33Speaker 2: He's not perfect. They also brought up text messages that
- 46:36Speaker 2: he has said about women in the past. using, you know, fat,
- 46:41Speaker 2: ugly whore and the C-U-N-T word and gold digger and
- 46:45Speaker 2: shrew and all of that. And then he's like, yes, my...
- 46:47Speaker 2: And in response to that, he said, well, my texts
- 46:49Speaker 2: are colorful and I write my texts like, you know,
- 46:55Speaker 2: literature greats of the... It sounded like a bullshit thing.
- 46:58Speaker 2: He definitely has a temper. Oh, I also want to say,
- 47:01Speaker 2: I said something wrong on Tuesday's show about the severed finger.
- 47:05Speaker 2: When he went to the hospital, he said, I cut
- 47:06Speaker 2: it myself. But... there, I guess there is audio to Amber, um,
- 47:12Speaker 2: kind of confirming his story that she threw not one,
- 47:15Speaker 2: but two vodka bottles. And one of the broken bottles
- 47:19Speaker 2: did slice off the top of his finger somehow. And
- 47:22Speaker 2: by him saying, I cut it off. It was just
- 47:24Speaker 2: like an abuse victim who lies when they get to
- 47:27Speaker 2: the doctor because he didn't want her to be arrested.
- 47:29Speaker 2: He didn't want, so he was like, let me just say,
- 47:31Speaker 2: I accidentally cut off the top, um, like the tip. And, um, So,
- 47:37Speaker 2: you know, I kind of missaid that last time. But anyway,
- 47:40Speaker 2: we're going to keep watching. Wait, really, really quick.
- 47:43Speaker 7: I do have a real life Winona Ryder story where
- 47:45Speaker 7: she did tell me he was very sweet.
- 47:46Speaker 5: I mean, that's really good.
- 47:47Speaker 2: Okay, let's hear that.
- 47:48Speaker 7: Basically, just like I met her because I did a
- 47:50Speaker 7: Drunk History episode and she was the famous person that
- 47:53Speaker 7: did the lip syncing.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 47:54Speaker 7: And oddly, she came to, I didn't meet her at
- 47:57Speaker 7: all during the filming process because I don't have to
- 47:58Speaker 7: be part of it, but she came to the premiere
- 48:01Speaker 7: party of that episode. which is really weird because no
- 48:04Speaker 7: celebrities ever do. And she came by herself. I mean,
- 48:06Speaker 7: she had like an assistant person that was kind of
- 48:08Speaker 7: like secret service style, like kind of off in the distance.
- 48:10Speaker 5: And she didn't know anyone.
- 48:11Speaker 7: So she went straight to the bathroom and I was
- 48:14Speaker 7: in the bathroom and she opened the door and.
- 48:17Speaker 5: She goes, hi. And I was like, oh my God, hi.
- 48:20Speaker 7: And we'd never met, but she knew me from watching
- 48:23Speaker 7: the video of me being drunk. And she gave me
- 48:25Speaker 7: a big hug. And she said she really got into
- 48:28Speaker 7: character as this person that we were talking about And
- 48:31Speaker 7: she did so, but she also wanted to get into
- 48:33Speaker 7: the character of me, like learning how I talk. So
- 48:36Speaker 7: she read my books. And one of my books talks
- 48:39Speaker 7: about like having a crush on Johnny Depp. And I
- 48:42Speaker 7: was so embarrassed that that's the one she read.
- 48:44Speaker 5: And I was like, you read my book? And she's like,
- 48:46Speaker 5: I loved it. And you know, I don't have kids either.
- 48:49Speaker 7: And like, we hung out all night. We smoked cigarettes together.
- 48:53Speaker 7: We held hands.
- 48:54Speaker 5: She loves to hold hands. She had a boyfriend. It
- 48:57Speaker 5: wasn't like a gay thing. And we sat at the
- 48:59Speaker 5: table together.
- 49:00Speaker 7: This table together and then we went out to a
- 49:01Speaker 7: bar after but anyway at one point I said I'm
- 49:04Speaker 7: so embarrassed you're that book and I I say I
- 49:05Speaker 7: have a crush on Johnny Depp and that's like a
- 49:07Speaker 7: real person you know that was like your boyfriend I'm
- 49:09Speaker 7: so embarrassed and she just took my hand across the
- 49:12Speaker 7: table and she.
- 49:13Speaker 5: Was like no and she's like oh he's so.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Sweet he's so sweet she said Like wistfully, just like, oh.
- 49:21Speaker 2: He dressed the tattoo of, he said, because they said,
- 49:26Speaker 2: now what about when Amber made fun of your tattoo
- 49:29Speaker 2: or said that's an ugly tattoo? He said, well, I
- 49:32Speaker 2: would never be upset about that because It's like someone
- 49:36Speaker 2: pointing out an entry in your journal. I see my
- 49:39Speaker 2: body as a journal and I tattoo moments in my
- 49:43Speaker 2: life so I wouldn't change a tattoo. And he's like, well, actually,
- 49:45Speaker 2: I take that back. I did have a Winona Ryder
- 49:48Speaker 2: tattoo and I changed it to Wino Forever because that's humor.
- 49:53Speaker 2: And through pain, you got to see the funny, you know, whatever.
- 49:58Speaker 2: But that's great. I'm glad you had fun with Winona
- 50:01Speaker 2: Ryder and I'm glad she didn't steal anything from you.
- 50:04Speaker 5: I didn't have anything expensive enough to steal.
- 50:06Speaker 2: Well, good. Good. I'm glad. I'll never forget that Saks
- 50:10Speaker 2: Fifth Avenue moment. That was such a, when she was
- 50:13Speaker 2: on camera taking stuff. That must have been after, that
- 50:17Speaker 2: was after Johnny Depp, wasn't it?
- 50:19Speaker 5: Oh, way after. That was when she was hanging out
- 50:21Speaker 5: with Courtney Love. So I think there's.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that wasn't a great influence.
- 50:25Speaker 5: It wasn't a good time.
- 50:27Speaker 2: I also want to ask you about a very juicy
- 50:30Speaker 2: story of Louis CK. Yeah, you have Fought the story,
- 50:35Speaker 2: the press, the fans. So I'm just going to let
- 50:39Speaker 2: you tell it in your own words as a female comic.
- 50:45Speaker 2: Do tell.
- 50:46Speaker 5: Do you want me to tell my story of like
- 50:48Speaker 5: all the times with Louie?
- 50:49Speaker 2: I want you to tell the whole story, the backlash,
- 50:52Speaker 2: when it rose up, when you're like, stop calling me
- 50:54Speaker 2: about it. And then you're finally like, okay, I will
- 50:56Speaker 2: talk about it. It's been a lot of back and forth.
- 50:59Speaker 2: And I remember you mentioning it when we were at
- 51:02Speaker 2: the Chelsea Lately Days, and I couldn't really remember the story.
- 51:06Speaker 2: But at the Chelsea Lately Days, there was no evidence
- 51:09Speaker 2: out there to the public that Louis C.K. would hit
- 51:14Speaker 2: on girls, whip out his dick, and masturbate without their
- 51:16Speaker 2: permission or with their permission or both. There was none
- 51:20Speaker 2: of that out there. So go ahead.
- 51:21Speaker 5: That's right.
- 51:22Speaker 7: I met Louis in the late 90s in New York
- 51:25Speaker 7: City when I was just a young thing, 23 years old.
- 51:29Speaker 7: He wasn't famous, but he wrote on the Conan O'Brien show,
- 51:31Speaker 7: and he did stand-up. And the stand-up he did was
- 51:34Speaker 7: nothing like what he does now, personal. It was all
- 51:36Speaker 7: absurd jokes. And my boyfriend at the time was a
- 51:39Speaker 7: really big fan of his, and so he's like, let's
- 51:41Speaker 7: go see this guy Louie. And I was like, it's
- 51:44Speaker 7: not really for me, but okay. But I knew everyone
- 51:47Speaker 7: worshipped him. And we both did a voiceover on this
- 51:51Speaker 7: cartoon show that filmed in Boston. And my friend Brendan
- 51:57Speaker 7: was the guy who created the show and he cast
- 52:00Speaker 7: both of us in it. So I really had never
- 52:02Speaker 7: met Louie, maybe just around at comedy shows, high by,
- 52:05Speaker 7: nothing really.
- 52:06Speaker 5: I really didn't look up to him at all. I
- 52:08Speaker 5: didn't give a shit. He wasn't my kind of comic.
- 52:11Speaker 7: I was more of like a Marc Maron fan at
- 52:13Speaker 7: that point, like someone who talks about their life. But
- 52:17Speaker 7: Louie and I are on the same flight, like a
- 52:18Speaker 7: little Delta from New York to Boston, 45 minutes. And
- 52:21Speaker 7: we're seated next to each other. And he seemed like
- 52:24Speaker 7: such a grownup. He was ignoring me and reading the newspaper.
- 52:29Speaker 7: This was really 1999. And I feel like flights were
- 52:32Speaker 7: so much nicer then. And he was drinking coffee and
- 52:35Speaker 7: orange juice. And he just literally ignored me the whole flight.
- 52:39Speaker 7: And I remember thinking, God, of course he's ignoring me.
- 52:42Speaker 7: He's in his early 30s and he's very successful. He's
- 52:45Speaker 7: a writer. And I'm just this open mic comic just
- 52:48Speaker 7: starting out. And this is how you're supposed to treat
- 52:51Speaker 7: younger people.
- 52:52Speaker 5: And this makes sense.
- 52:53Speaker 8: Okay.
- 52:54Speaker 5: I wasn't offended, but that's what I thought.
- 52:55Speaker 7: And at this time he was married, right? I forget
- 52:58Speaker 7: if he was married, but.
- 53:02Speaker 5: I don't remember. I don't know if he had kids yet.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay.
- 53:06Speaker 7: So we get off the plane and I don't remember,
- 53:10Speaker 7: I mean, again, so long ago, but I think I
- 53:12Speaker 7: was going to probably just get it. There was no
- 53:14Speaker 7: Uber or phones or anything. I think I was going
- 53:17Speaker 7: to just get a cab at the airport and that
- 53:21Speaker 7: was going to drive me to the part of Boston
- 53:23Speaker 7: that this little filming was in. And Louie and I
- 53:26Speaker 7: grew up, he grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts. I grew
- 53:30Speaker 7: up in a town called Needham right next door to
- 53:31Speaker 7: each other. He's older than me. We never met, but
- 53:34Speaker 7: both Boston people. So at the airport, he says, first
- 53:38Speaker 7: time he spoke to me, he says, Hey, we're both
- 53:40Speaker 7: going to the same place. I rented a car. Do
- 53:42Speaker 7: you want to ride? And I said, oh, that'd be great.
- 53:46Speaker 7: So I get in the car and we're driving through
- 53:49Speaker 7: his hometown on the way to this recording studio.
- 53:51Speaker 5: And he says, I grew up here. And I said,
- 53:53Speaker 5: oh my God, I grew up like a town over.
- 53:55Speaker 7: And I want to start talking about, you know, things
- 53:58Speaker 7: you talk to someone about when you're from the same town.
- 54:01Speaker 7: And he goes, that house right there. Oh my God,
- 54:03Speaker 7: the woman that lived there, the girl that lived there,
- 54:05Speaker 7: she had these big tits. And I would sit in
- 54:06Speaker 7: my room and masturbate and think about them. He's like,
- 54:09Speaker 7: but then one time I got to see them. He's like,
- 54:10Speaker 7: that house over there. I mean, I don't remember the details.
- 54:13Speaker 7: But he was pointing out in that park over there,
- 54:16Speaker 7: I got my first blowjob. It was stuff like that.
- 54:17Speaker 8: Interesting.
- 54:19Speaker 5: He was telling me.
- 54:20Speaker 7: I think it was even weirder than I got my
- 54:23Speaker 7: first blowjob. Don't quote me, but it was more like,
- 54:26Speaker 7: here are thoughts that I thought over here. I was
- 54:30Speaker 7: in that park masturbating, thinking about someone.
- 54:32Speaker 2: I'm going to interrupt you right now because I find
- 54:34Speaker 2: that so fascinating because the more we learn... about grooming,
- 54:39Speaker 2: whether it's among between consent, you know, age appropriate adults,
- 54:46Speaker 2: whether it's consenting or not, or even with children, oftentimes
- 54:50Speaker 2: with children, you hear that the perpetrator, you know, starts
- 54:54Speaker 2: to show them dirty magazines or starts talking about sex
- 54:58Speaker 2: or lets them see like porn. And it's like, don't
- 55:00Speaker 2: tell your parents that you watch this with me because
- 55:03Speaker 2: you're going to get in trouble for watching it. That's
- 55:05Speaker 2: like a very common thing that like you know, priests
- 55:08Speaker 2: and teachers and coaches would do to boys, you know?
- 55:12Speaker 2: And so then they're like, well, I don't want to,
- 55:14Speaker 2: you know, I'm going to get in trouble. Like, so it's, it's,
- 55:16Speaker 2: but it's putting those sexual thoughts out there.
- 55:19Speaker 7: So continue, go on. I, I absolutely didn't think it
- 55:22Speaker 7: at the time, but looking back, I go, oh, he
- 55:24Speaker 7: was grooming me or just trying to see what he
- 55:26Speaker 7: could do.
- 55:28Speaker 2: And your response, like if you would have been like
- 55:31Speaker 2: right away, if you would have been like not rolling
- 55:33Speaker 2: with it and being like, um, I'm sorry, that's offensive.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Could you please stop? You're grossing me out. He would
- 55:38Speaker 2: have never said another thing. But because you were being
- 55:41Speaker 2: the polite, fun, comedian, cool girl who got a free ride,
- 55:46Speaker 2: you're like, ha ha, ha ha.
- 55:48Speaker 7: I was just sort of like, I don't know what
- 55:52Speaker 7: this is, but I guess, I mean, this happened to
- 55:54Speaker 7: me in college when there was like a professor that
- 55:58Speaker 7: was sexually harassing everybody and he sort of did with me.
- 56:02Speaker 5: We got him fired.
- 56:03Speaker 7: It was weird because I wasn't like a stranger to
- 56:05Speaker 7: this kind of thing. I'd already had something like this
- 56:08Speaker 7: happen and got someone fired for it. Like while these
- 56:10Speaker 7: women stood up and told their stories. But again, it,
- 56:14Speaker 7: it like it, the, the, the credits of one weird
- 56:18Speaker 7: thing with one man really don't transfer to the next.
- 56:20Speaker 7: I'm sitting here going, well, I'm a comedian and. you know,
- 56:22Speaker 7: this is, I guess how comedians talk. And he probably
- 56:24Speaker 7: would say this to a guy, you know, it's right.
- 56:26Speaker 7: I thought it was a, one of the guys things.
- 56:28Speaker 5: Right.
- 56:29Speaker 7: I didn't think it was woman specific. Whereas with my
- 56:32Speaker 7: acting teacher definitely was, but I was like, Oh, maybe
- 56:35Speaker 7: this is how theater people are.
- 56:36Speaker 5: They touch each other.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 56:38Speaker 7: So this felt like something different. And so I didn't
- 56:41Speaker 7: like it though. It certainly wasn't at the very least,
- 56:43Speaker 7: it just wasn't that interesting or cool. I would have
- 56:45Speaker 7: rather talked about like funny stories about like people we
- 56:48Speaker 7: went to school.
- 56:49Speaker 5: With, whatever. So I don't remember anything else.
- 56:51Speaker 2: Like, I don't know.
- 56:52Speaker 5: We did the voiceover. I don't remember the flight home.
- 56:54Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 56:55Speaker 5: But now he's like someone in my orbit.
- 56:58Speaker 7: And again, really, I don't, there's no memories until we
- 57:03Speaker 7: get to LA and I moved to LA in 2002.
- 57:07Speaker 7: And then Louie's there and we're on this show at
- 57:11Speaker 7: the M bar, which is in a strip mall in Hollywood.
- 57:16Speaker 7: And this is before there was a upright citizens brigade theater.
- 57:19Speaker 7: So it was kind of like the.
- 57:20Speaker 5: Alternative night or whatever.
- 57:22Speaker 7: And I would try to get on that show, but
- 57:24Speaker 7: it was like kind of hard to get on. You
- 57:26Speaker 7: had to be like cool. And, you know, I wasn't
- 57:28Speaker 7: in that world.
- 57:29Speaker 5: I was like younger.
- 57:31Speaker 7: But I hung out there every Tuesday night and watched
- 57:33Speaker 7: the shows. And I watched Louis' evolution from doing weird,
- 57:37Speaker 7: absurd material to very honest material. And I saw him
- 57:42Speaker 7: become the guy that's like, I hate my kids. My
- 57:44Speaker 7: daughter's a cunt.
- 57:45Speaker 5: My wife this.
- 57:46Speaker 7: And I actually found it kind of thrilling as a
- 57:49Speaker 7: comedian to watch someone just become really honest. And so
- 57:54Speaker 7: I was thinking of it more that way. Like I
- 57:56Speaker 7: wasn't reading into like, maybe he really is a bad person.
- 58:00Speaker 5: And so, and I hadn't, and so then like the rumors.
- 58:04Speaker 7: So then one night he gets off stage and it
- 58:08Speaker 7: was like the first time he really killed with that material.
- 58:11Speaker 5: My daughter's a cunt, but he wasn't famous yet.
- 58:15Speaker 7: And he comes off stage and he grabs me so
- 58:18Speaker 7: hard by the neck. Like, I'm just standing behind, like
- 58:22Speaker 7: I'm just in the audience watching, but with where all
- 58:24Speaker 7: the comics are kind of, but he like kind of
- 58:28Speaker 7: calls me over like, and I go over and he
- 58:30Speaker 7: grabs me by the neck and he whispers to me,
- 58:31Speaker 7: I'm going to fuck you someday, whether you like it
- 58:33Speaker 7: or not.
- 58:35Speaker 5: And I, I was like, okay. And then he walked away.
- 58:38Speaker 7: It was almost this, like he was high off the
- 58:42Speaker 7: applause and wanted to like get more high by like threatening.
- 58:45Speaker 5: Someone or something.
- 58:47Speaker 7: And I remember a friend of mine looking at me
- 58:48Speaker 7: and mouthing like, what was that? And I was like,
- 58:51Speaker 7: you know.
- 58:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:52Speaker 5: So then I it was like little things like that.
- 58:57Speaker 5: I you know.
- 58:59Speaker 7: And so then the penultimate that's not what the word means.
- 59:02Speaker 7: But the big night was he gets off stage again.
- 59:08Speaker 2: Same club.
- 59:10Speaker 5: I have a boyfriend.
- 59:12Speaker 2: And what year is this now?
- 59:14Speaker 5: 2004, I think.
- 59:17Speaker 2: Or three. Okay.
- 59:19Speaker 5: It's three or four.
- 59:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 59:22Speaker 7: I'm dating this guy who every time he wants to like,
- 59:27Speaker 7: do something like something would come up in my comedy career.
- 59:29Speaker 5: Oh my God, I got this gig.
- 59:30Speaker 2: I have to do it. Sorry.
- 59:31Speaker 7: I'm canceling dinner, you know? And, uh, so I'm like,
- 59:34Speaker 7: I'm going to go to this show tonight. And he's like,
- 59:36Speaker 7: you're not even on the show. And I'm like, I know,
- 59:38Speaker 7: but it's, you got to hang out and blah, blah, blah.
- 59:40Speaker 7: And he's like, we'll come over after and like, we'll snuggle.
- 59:43Speaker 2: I'm like, okay.
- 59:44Speaker 5: So I'm leaving.
- 59:46Speaker 7: And Louie's like, where are you going? And he's like,
- 59:48Speaker 7: we're all going around the corner. Like we do every
- 59:50Speaker 7: week for a drink. I'm like, I know, but my
- 59:52Speaker 7: boyfriend thing, you know, And he's like, it's 9.30 or 10,
- 59:57Speaker 7: like whatever, like just tell him to come or something.
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: I'm like, no, he's not, whatever.
- 1:00:01Speaker 7: So I call him and I'm like, I'm not coming
- 1:00:04Speaker 7: over because all the comics are going out. And I'm
- 1:00:06Speaker 7: thinking like, it's literally not this could be good for
- 1:00:10Speaker 7: my career because Louis had no career, but it was
- 1:00:13Speaker 7: just like.
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: Everyone's going.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Right, I understand. I would do that stuff, yeah.
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: And so.
- 1:00:19Speaker 7: Louis and I start walking over, but we're not waiting
- 1:00:22Speaker 7: for the other comics. Like no one had started gathering
- 1:00:24Speaker 7: outside Yeah. And I go, oh, we're walking over now.
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: He's like, yeah, why not? We'll just get, we'll secure
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: a table or something.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, okay.
- 1:00:31Speaker 7: So we go to this bar and the bar has
- 1:00:32Speaker 7: an upstairs and the upstairs, like the bar downstairs is normal.
- 1:00:37Speaker 7: There's seats at a bar and the upstairs is all
- 1:00:39Speaker 7: floor pillows. It looks like a hookah lounge, but it's not.
- 1:00:42Speaker 7: And he's like, let's sit up here.
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: And I was like, okay. He's like, yeah, it'll be
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: less crowded.
- 1:00:47Speaker 7: And So he picks this corner that if anyone walked
- 1:00:50Speaker 7: into the bar and looked upstairs, you wouldn't be able
- 1:00:52Speaker 7: to see us.
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: I go, but no one can see us when they
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: come in. They won't know we're here. He's like, they
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: know we're here. What are you being so neurotic about?
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, you're right. You're right.
- 1:00:59Speaker 7: I really was not thinking anything pervy. I was more
- 1:01:02Speaker 7: just stressed. I want everyone to come over here. And
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: so we're sitting there. And again, my memory isn't fuzzy
- 1:01:10Speaker 7: of what his intent was, but the exact words.
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: He goes, oh, did I ever show you pictures of
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: my daughter?
- 1:01:17Speaker 7: And this is like pre cell phones, like pulls wallet
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: pictures out. And I'm like, oh, does your wife and
- 1:01:22Speaker 7: kid mind that you talk about them on stage? You know,
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: we're talking about that. And he's like, so what would
- 1:01:29Speaker 7: you say if a guy wanted to masturbate in front
- 1:01:31Speaker 7: of you? And I'm like, oh, I don't know. And
- 1:01:33Speaker 7: I think he's doing, I swear to God, I think
- 1:01:35Speaker 7: he's asking me to help him work out a new
- 1:01:38Speaker 7: bit that he's going to try. Cause he talked about
- 1:01:41Speaker 7: masturbation all the time on stage. So I'm like honored.
- 1:01:44Speaker 7: I'm like, Louie's running a new bit by me. And like,
- 1:01:47Speaker 7: maybe he'll even use a punchline that I'm going to write.
- 1:01:50Speaker 7: Cause he's going to do a bit about a fucking
- 1:01:52Speaker 7: loser that wants to masturbate in front of someone.
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: He goes, I mean, what if the guy was.
- 1:01:56Speaker 7: Like married with kids, but was like, Hey, I just
- 1:01:58Speaker 7: want to masturbate in front of you.
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: Like, you know, at a bar or something. And I
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: was like, yeah. And I was like, okay.
- 1:02:04Speaker 7: So the guy, and I'm like still talking like it's
- 1:02:06Speaker 7: a bit, and he's like, Jen.
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: And I'm like, what?
- 1:02:09Speaker 7: And he's like, what if a guy wants to masturbate
- 1:02:16Speaker 7: in front of you right here? Or something like that.
- 1:02:18Speaker 7: He didn't say, can I masturbate? And I went, are
- 1:02:21Speaker 7: you a.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: Wait, it was like that? And he's like, what?
- 1:02:26Speaker 7: I like doing that or something. He's like, I go, oh,
- 1:02:29Speaker 7: I thought we.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: Oh, I thought we were.
- 1:02:32Speaker 7: Oh, what is this? And he's like, well, what did
- 1:02:34Speaker 7: you think this was? We're like sitting up here in a.
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: And I was like, oh. And then at that moment.
- 1:02:40Speaker 7: like a bunch of the comics found us and like
- 1:02:43Speaker 7: someone came over as comics do.
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: To like get attention from Louie, you know?
- 1:02:49Speaker 7: So they all came over and sat down and it
- 1:02:51Speaker 7: was like, without missing a beat, he goes, I was
- 1:02:54Speaker 7: just showing Jen a picture of my daughter and everyone's like,
- 1:02:57Speaker 7: Oh my God, that's so cute. And I was just
- 1:02:58Speaker 7: sitting there like, this guy is fucking weird. And so
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: I didn't, I think I got up and walked away
- 1:03:05Speaker 7: and was like, guys, guys, guys, I think he just
- 1:03:07Speaker 7: asked me, I think he was trying to masturbate in
- 1:03:09Speaker 7: front of me up there. And they were like, you know,
- 1:03:12Speaker 7: we've heard that. Like it wasn't in that moment, but
- 1:03:15Speaker 7: later on I started telling all these people and most
- 1:03:18Speaker 7: people didn't care. And some people were like, oh, he's
- 1:03:21Speaker 7: done that to people before.
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: And I was like, who? Cause I didn't know these girls.
- 1:03:25Speaker 7: Cause they lived in Chicago and they had done this
- 1:03:28Speaker 7: comedy festival that I was never in. And so I,
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: they were like these girls, Dana and Julia, but I
- 1:03:33Speaker 7: don't even know if I knew their, that's their names,
- 1:03:36Speaker 7: but in the retelling, no one ever said their names
- 1:03:38Speaker 7: to me.
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: And I was like, I don't know who that is.
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: I really didn't.
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: It turned out that like this project that this other girl,
- 1:03:44Speaker 7: I'm friends with Rebecca Corey. We both were up for
- 1:03:46Speaker 7: this pilot that Courtney Cox was producing where Louie, it
- 1:03:50Speaker 7: would be Louie and a woman hosting like a late
- 1:03:52Speaker 7: night daily show kind of show. And it was like,
- 1:03:56Speaker 7: I was down to one of the finalists. I didn't
- 1:03:57Speaker 7: get it, but Rebecca did. And he ended up trying
- 1:04:00Speaker 7: to masturbate to her on the pilot. And we knew
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: each other. And he did that to her like within
- 1:04:05Speaker 7: six months of doing it to me. And we never
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: told each other. Like, so really, I, I just kept
- 1:04:10Speaker 7: hearing it, but I was like, I don't know who
- 1:04:13Speaker 7: these people are.
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: So anyway, I just found him more and more like disgusting.
- 1:04:17Speaker 7: And so then, um, about six months later I was
- 1:04:20Speaker 7: on the road as you know, Greg Barron, he, he wrote.
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: He just not that into you.
- 1:04:25Speaker 7: I was his opening act on the road and Louie was,
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: following my MySpace or something. Again, this is like 2002,
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: like no internet, 2003.
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: Sorry. It's after he already asked me to jerk off.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: He sends me an email.
- 1:04:39Speaker 7: He's like, Hey, I see that you're at the West
- 1:04:41Speaker 7: Palm beach improv with Greg. I'm going to be in
- 1:04:44Speaker 7: Miami in a few days. You can be my opening act.
- 1:04:48Speaker 7: And I'm like, Oh fuck, this is huge.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:04:49Speaker 7: Cause he was starting to get big, even though he's
- 1:04:52Speaker 7: like playing clubs, but he's like, and you could do
- 1:04:55Speaker 7: more road gigs with me.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: Like, it'd be cool to like travel together.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: You could be my open.
- 1:04:59Speaker 7: And I was like, Like, and then he just wrote, oh, P.S.,
- 1:05:03Speaker 7: I'm divorced now. And I was like, well, that tells
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: me something. Like, because I think that night I said
- 1:05:12Speaker 7: to him something like, you're married, you know, which wasn't
- 1:05:16Speaker 7: the reason I objected to him wanting to show me
- 1:05:18Speaker 7: his dick. It was just sort of like, that's why
- 1:05:20Speaker 7: I trusted him. Like, if a guy's married with kids,
- 1:05:22Speaker 7: I was stupid enough to think that didn't mean anything.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: Like, I thought they weren't interested in me.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: So.
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: I think that's why he wrote that.
- 1:05:32Speaker 7: And I just said, um, you know, honestly, like I
- 1:05:36Speaker 7: make more at my temp job than I would as
- 1:05:37Speaker 7: an opening act. And, um, I, I can't cause I
- 1:05:41Speaker 7: really need to make money. And I said, no, but
- 1:05:44Speaker 7: I deep down, I didn't want to because it's not
- 1:05:47Speaker 7: that I thought he was going to rate me or
- 1:05:48Speaker 7: anything like that. I thought he blatantly wanted an opening
- 1:05:52Speaker 7: act that would have sex with him. And I felt
- 1:05:54Speaker 7: if I said yes, but knowing I wasn't going to
- 1:05:57Speaker 7: have sex with him, it would just be annoying to him.
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: Like, you know, and I really.
- 1:06:02Speaker 7: If this is true, I don't begrudge him. I think
- 1:06:05Speaker 7: it's weird, but like, you know, I don't want to
- 1:06:07Speaker 7: be in that back and forth of no, no, no,
- 1:06:09Speaker 7: you know?
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: So that's why I said no. And, you know, I
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: think that was really it. Like those were the three things.
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: It wasn't, you know.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: Well, then there was one that I sent you that
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: someone wrote me. And said, and I don't know what
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: year this was.
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: Oh, that's right.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: So, okay.
- 1:06:29Speaker 7: So that's part of this story though. So I'll, let
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: me keep going. So, you know, now it's like, I'm
- 1:06:34Speaker 7: just telling people like, don't go in a room with him.
- 1:06:37Speaker 7: He's a fucking creep, like whatever, blah, blah. But I
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: was still kind of a fan because like, you don't
- 1:06:41Speaker 7: have a lot of options at that time. Like women
- 1:06:45Speaker 7: were still being kept out of a lot of things.
- 1:06:47Speaker 7: And so you didn't have a lot of role models
- 1:06:50Speaker 7: to look up to. And it was like, I liked
- 1:06:51Speaker 7: the kind of comedy he was doing in a way.
- 1:06:53Speaker 7: And I didn't realize it was like totally all, him confessing.
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: His real whatever.
- 1:06:59Speaker 7: So bloody blah, I'm doing so cut to, it's like
- 1:07:03Speaker 7: 2012 now and I'm on the road in Atlanta and
- 1:07:09Speaker 7: I walk into the green room and it's like a
- 1:07:11Speaker 7: comedy club, you know, that laughing skull place, all these
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: comics just come and hang out and these, all these
- 1:07:17Speaker 7: young guys and I walk in and they're talking about
- 1:07:19Speaker 7: how Louie likes to jerk off in front of female
- 1:07:21Speaker 7: comics and And I was like, how do you guys
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: know this stuff? And they're like, oh my God, there's
- 1:07:26Speaker 7: so many stories. And somehow my story had gotten out
- 1:07:35Speaker 7: and they were telling it. And I was like the
- 1:07:37Speaker 7: one about the couches and the picture of his kid.
- 1:07:39Speaker 7: And I go, wait, that happened to me. And the
- 1:07:41Speaker 7: kid was like, that was you? And I said, yeah.
- 1:07:44Speaker 7: And he goes, he's such a fucking asshole. I'm going
- 1:07:47Speaker 7: to I'm going to tell everyone. Why don't you speak
- 1:07:50Speaker 7: out and tell everyone? I go, tell them what though?
- 1:07:52Speaker 7: Like I'm telling people to stay away from him, but like,
- 1:07:56Speaker 7: it's not illegal to do anything he did to me.
- 1:07:59Speaker 7: It's just really bad and gross.
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:08:02Speaker 7: Um, and they're like, but he's been doing it to
- 1:08:04Speaker 7: all these people. I'm like, I know, but like literally,
- 1:08:06Speaker 7: what am I going to call the cops?
- 1:08:07Speaker 5: Like there's nothing.
- 1:08:07Speaker 7: And I hate saying that. Cause then people argue against me.
- 1:08:10Speaker 7: You can say, well, then it wasn't a big deal.
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: It's like, whatever.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:13Speaker 7: Um, so the kid tweets, um, I know for a
- 1:08:18Speaker 7: fact that Louie is jerking up in front of women
- 1:08:20Speaker 7: and blah, blah, blah. Louie was still on Twitter at
- 1:08:24Speaker 7: this point, or he used to check Twitter and he
- 1:08:26Speaker 7: tweeted that kid or he DM to the kid and said,
- 1:08:29Speaker 7: call me, here's my number. And so the kid called Louie. And, uh,
- 1:08:36Speaker 7: now meanwhile, we do the gigs that weekend, me and
- 1:08:38Speaker 7: that kid, I say, please leave me out of this.
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: Do not mention me to Louie. And he's like, sorry,
- 1:08:43Speaker 7: but I have to follow my heart. Like, I'm not
- 1:08:46Speaker 7: going to lie and cover up abuse.
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: And I was like, okay.
- 1:08:51Speaker 7: So I'm back in LA and the kid calls me
- 1:08:55Speaker 7: and he's like, Louie tried to manipulate me and tell
- 1:08:58Speaker 7: me that he didn't do it. And that all the
- 1:09:00Speaker 7: women he jerked off in front of gave him his consent.
- 1:09:03Speaker 7: And Louie said, you know, he was really, uh, wants
- 1:09:08Speaker 7: to talk to you about this. And he said he
- 1:09:10Speaker 7: was gonna, you know, give you a call. And I
- 1:09:13Speaker 7: was like, and Louie already had my number.
- 1:09:15Speaker 5: And I was like, Okay.
- 1:09:16Speaker 7: And the kid was like, I'm sorry, but I had
- 1:09:18Speaker 7: to mention that I talked to you.
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: I was like, it's fine. I don't really care.
- 1:09:21Speaker 7: And he's like, but that guy's like a psycho. I
- 1:09:23Speaker 7: can tell from talking to him, he's a fucking liar.
- 1:09:25Speaker 7: And he got really angry and he was like trying
- 1:09:27Speaker 7: to shut me down. And he's like, this must be
- 1:09:31Speaker 7: bigger than we even know. And I was like, yeah, maybe.
- 1:09:33Speaker 7: But again, like, what am I going to do? And
- 1:09:35Speaker 7: why am I going to, again, I wasn't afraid of
- 1:09:38Speaker 7: my career ending. I just, what am I going to do?
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: And there was no social media viral me too. So
- 1:09:46Speaker 7: Louie calls, I don't pick up. Then it kind of
- 1:09:49Speaker 7: honestly just goes away for another few months. Then I
- 1:09:52Speaker 7: get an email from Louie. I would get it every
- 1:09:53Speaker 7: so often after this. Oh my God, I just saw
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: your episode of Drunk History. It is so funny.
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: You were so funny. And I'm like, it's weird. Yeah.
- 1:10:01Speaker 7: And he just kept writing me. And then he wrote me,
- 1:10:04Speaker 7: I saw you. Oh my God, you were doing a
- 1:10:07Speaker 7: show at the improv lab. And I was in the
- 1:10:09Speaker 7: improv main room and I watched your stuff. And I'm,
- 1:10:15Speaker 7: it was so funny and I'm, I'm so sorry I
- 1:10:17Speaker 7: didn't have time to say hi after.
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: And then you said, this is where you said.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: So this girl, a juicy scooper wrote me and said,
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: I remember being at the lab at the improv and
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: it was, which is the smaller room at the improv
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: on Melrose in LA. And Jen Kirkman was on stage
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: doing her thing. And I just remember Louie standing in
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: the back, like staring at her with his arms folded.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: And to this, eyewitness she felt that it was a
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: move that he was hoping that you would see him
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: and be intimidated as like you know so it's very
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: interesting that there was an element of intimidation and then
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: an element of remember me I'm your friend I'm your
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: friend I'm a fan I can help you so think
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: about that when you're around people and you might want
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: to tell this story think about that which is like
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: I mean, it's Harvey Weinstein type of stuff that you'd
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: hear about, you know, like, come on, I'm your friend.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Come on. Like, I'm going to help you get this part.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: Come on. You know, amazing.
- 1:11:22Speaker 7: Well, and again, I didn't even see him there. So
- 1:11:24Speaker 7: it was all right. And I was more like, oh,
- 1:11:26Speaker 7: I was just working out new stuff. Like, hope you
- 1:11:28Speaker 7: didn't see that. It was probably not funny. But so
- 1:11:30Speaker 7: then so then that keeps going on and, you know,
- 1:11:34Speaker 7: nothing changes. So then 2014, my Netflix special comes out
- 1:11:38Speaker 7: and in it I talk about being divorced and And
- 1:11:40Speaker 7: I talk about like how I was horny after I
- 1:11:42Speaker 7: got divorced because we didn't have sex a lot. And
- 1:11:44Speaker 7: I slept with a younger guy and I did a
- 1:11:47Speaker 7: bit about masturbation. It's very innocent stuff compared to, you know, whatever.
- 1:11:51Speaker 7: But that's like, you know, so I'm in Australia doing
- 1:11:55Speaker 7: this comedy festival and Louie is blowing up at this point,
- 1:12:00Speaker 7: getting famous for telling jokes about sex, masturbation and divorce.
- 1:12:04Speaker 7: So here I am like kind of like, also doing
- 1:12:07Speaker 7: stuff like that. Not anything to do with him. It
- 1:12:09Speaker 7: was just what I was going through. And all the
- 1:12:12Speaker 7: reviews I got in Australia of my show, because I
- 1:12:14Speaker 7: like performed the.
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: Show there, were kind of like three stars out of five.
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: And it was all men.
- 1:12:21Speaker 7: And they were like, she's just trying to be dirty
- 1:12:23Speaker 7: to get attention. And my show wasn't dirty at all.
- 1:12:25Speaker 7: And like the New York Times gave it like a
- 1:12:27Speaker 7: nice review. So it was like, there was just a
- 1:12:28Speaker 7: lot of sexism going on. And every interview I did
- 1:12:31Speaker 7: to promote my like run of shows in Australia, they'd say,
- 1:12:34Speaker 7: what's it like being a woman in comedy? And I'm like,
- 1:12:36Speaker 7: I'm not answering this because you're going to, I'm going
- 1:12:38Speaker 7: to say there's sexism. And then the headline is going
- 1:12:40Speaker 7: to be Jen Kirkman says there's sexism and it's not
- 1:12:42Speaker 7: going to be funny and no one's going to come.
- 1:12:44Speaker 7: Do you ever ask the guys this? And it was like,
- 1:12:46Speaker 7: I did a whole day of press. So I go
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: back to my hotel room and I have a bottle
- 1:12:51Speaker 7: of wine or a couple of glasses of wine. And
- 1:12:53Speaker 7: I do my podcast that I do where I just
- 1:12:55Speaker 7: talk about my week. And again, I'd only been doing
- 1:12:58Speaker 7: that podcast for about a year. I didn't think anyone
- 1:13:01Speaker 7: was listening except my diehard fans. And I turn on
- 1:13:04Speaker 7: the mic and I go, this is what it's like
- 1:13:06Speaker 7: being a woman in comedy, is that you have to
- 1:13:08Speaker 7: deal with these fucking questions and your show doesn't get
- 1:13:10Speaker 7: a good review, even though if a man did it,
- 1:13:12Speaker 7: he'd be like called a genius. And I gave three
- 1:13:15Speaker 7: examples of men in comedy that nobody ever followed up
- 1:13:19Speaker 7: with me on. I had one guy who's like a
- 1:13:20Speaker 7: famous nerd comic say, you can't do material about being
- 1:13:23Speaker 7: a dork because you're too pretty. And he screamed it
- 1:13:26Speaker 7: in my face, shaking with anger. Then I had another
- 1:13:30Speaker 7: male comic Make fun of me for writing a book
- 1:13:34Speaker 7: about not wanting.
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: Kids because it offended him.
- 1:13:36Speaker 7: And these are two beloved male comics, Brian Posehn and
- 1:13:40Speaker 7: Patton Oswalt.
- 1:13:41Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: Now, are they friends of mine? Sure. But, you know,
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: they don't do that to their male comedy friends.
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:13:49Speaker 7: And then I said the big one is there's a
- 1:13:51Speaker 7: well-known perv. who there's all these rumors about him. I
- 1:13:55Speaker 7: don't know the people he did, but he did some
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: stuff to me and I couldn't go on tour with
- 1:14:00Speaker 7: him because I was afraid he was going to try
- 1:14:01Speaker 7: to have sex with me or jerk off in front
- 1:14:03Speaker 7: of me. And I said, so that is what it's
- 1:14:04Speaker 7: like being a woman in comedy is we're treated differently
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: by our peers. And we always have to worry about
- 1:14:09Speaker 7: if we're about to get like yelled at or sexually assaulted.
- 1:14:13Speaker 7: And I said, you know, my managers, I was like,
- 1:14:15Speaker 7: you know, don't even bother talking about this stuff. These
- 1:14:19Speaker 7: guys are just like, you know, the known perv is
- 1:14:22Speaker 7: just a loser. Like, He's like, don't even bother. It's
- 1:14:25Speaker 7: just going to make you look bad. Like it's going
- 1:14:27Speaker 7: to bring up more or whatever. So I go, I
- 1:14:29Speaker 7: just mentioned that.
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: And I'm like, so the.
- 1:14:31Speaker 7: Reason I don't talk about it is because I don't
- 1:14:33Speaker 7: have any, like, what am I going to do?
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: You know? So, but that's what it's like. And I
- 1:14:37Speaker 5: put it out.
- 1:14:39Speaker 7: And Jezebel, a feminist in quotes website that I've been
- 1:14:45Speaker 7: interviewed by instead of calling me and saying, Hey, can
- 1:14:49Speaker 7: we talk about your blind item podcast? they run an
- 1:14:55Speaker 7: article saying Jen just outed Louis CK and they guessed
- 1:14:58Speaker 7: the blind item and wrote everything I said, and then
- 1:15:02Speaker 7: wrote a hit piece on me saying I'm a bad
- 1:15:05Speaker 7: feminist for not saying his name and for not doing more.
- 1:15:09Speaker 7: And they completely ignored the whole overview of my point,
- 1:15:13Speaker 7: which was all the types of things men in comedy say,
- 1:15:15Speaker 7: which to me saying you're too pretty to be a
- 1:15:18Speaker 7: dork is just like, it's not just as offensive, but
- 1:15:21Speaker 7: it's bothersome. Um, And I wrote the, and I took
- 1:15:25Speaker 7: the podcast down because I was like, oh my God,
- 1:15:28Speaker 7: like the press was pouring in. It was like, it
- 1:15:31Speaker 7: wouldn't stop. And then they wrote another piece saying, Jen Kirkman,
- 1:15:37Speaker 7: probably did she get paid off?
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: But you know, these people that go, just asking questions.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: Did she get paid off by Louis CK to take
- 1:15:45Speaker 5: it down? And it's like, no. So anyway, now Louis.
- 1:15:50Speaker 7: Is emailing me. Can you give me a call? And
- 1:15:56Speaker 7: I say, no, I can't. I don't want you yelling
- 1:15:59Speaker 7: at me. He's like, I'm not going to yell at you.
- 1:16:00Speaker 7: I'm like, whatever you need to say to me, we
- 1:16:03Speaker 7: can do it over email. So this is like a
- 1:16:06Speaker 7: few months later. Now the press is going crazy. Everyone's
- 1:16:09Speaker 7: picking up the story. I'm just trying to stay quiet.
- 1:16:13Speaker 7: So I'm getting it on all ends. People are getting
- 1:16:15Speaker 7: the story wrong and they're saying he jerked off in
- 1:16:17Speaker 7: front of me and I'm saying, no, he didn't.
- 1:16:19Speaker 5: And they're like, why'd you lie? I didn't lie.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: You got it wrong.
- 1:16:22Speaker 7: Well, he didn't even, you know, or why are you
- 1:16:24Speaker 7: covering up for him? So no one believed me. Feminists
- 1:16:27Speaker 7: were mad at me and his defenders. I had no
- 1:16:29Speaker 7: one on my side in the press. And it was,
- 1:16:32Speaker 7: I was handling it all by myself. I mean, I
- 1:16:33Speaker 7: had a publicist manager. No one knew what to do.
- 1:16:36Speaker 7: And I'm trying to promote like a Netflix special and
- 1:16:39Speaker 7: a book.
- 1:16:40Speaker 5: And everyone's like, you just did this for attention. I'm like, I,
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: trust me.
- 1:16:45Speaker 7: And every media outlet that I wanted to do an
- 1:16:48Speaker 7: interview with for my special or my book said only
- 1:16:50Speaker 7: if she talks about Louis.
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: So no one cared about my work. whatever.
- 1:16:54Speaker 7: Um, and it, I mean, it literally never ending shit
- 1:16:58Speaker 7: like that. Google alerts on my name, death threats, harassment,
- 1:17:02Speaker 7: little independent theaters. I would play, would call my agent
- 1:17:04Speaker 7: and say, we're getting a lot of death threats. Does
- 1:17:07Speaker 7: Jen want to hire security? This went on from 2014
- 1:17:10Speaker 7: until Louie confessed it in the New York time. So
- 1:17:13Speaker 7: basically Louie and I were emailing during this three year
- 1:17:15Speaker 7: period every once in a while. And he completely manipulated me.
- 1:17:19Speaker 7: Like I can still feel my body, the, the email
- 1:17:24Speaker 7: he sent, he's like, Hey Jen, I saw all the
- 1:17:26Speaker 7: stuff that's going around and listen, I'm not mad at you.
- 1:17:29Speaker 7: I know I did all that stuff to you. He said,
- 1:17:32Speaker 7: I handed you a pile of shit and now it's
- 1:17:35Speaker 7: your pile of shit to do whatever you want with
- 1:17:37Speaker 7: and you can talk about it and you can say
- 1:17:38Speaker 7: my name and you can do anything because.
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: It's true and it's yours.
- 1:17:43Speaker 7: And then he went through and apologized for everything he
- 1:17:45Speaker 7: did to me and there was a ton of stuff
- 1:17:47Speaker 7: in there that he never did to me. And Now
- 1:17:51Speaker 7: I realized another one of his victims, Rebecca, has the
- 1:17:54Speaker 7: same story.
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: He's confusing his victims.
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: Oh my God.
- 1:17:59Speaker 7: But I was so manipulated because I'd never had anything
- 1:18:02Speaker 7: like this happen that I actually came away from that
- 1:18:05Speaker 7: email like warm and fuzzy thinking, oh my God, he's
- 1:18:09Speaker 7: so great that he even remembers stuff he did that
- 1:18:14Speaker 7: I didn't remember. Like this must have really weighed on him.
- 1:18:18Speaker 7: Like I believed his memory. I didn't even think, no,
- 1:18:21Speaker 7: that's another victim that you shoved in a bathroom or whatever.
- 1:18:25Speaker 7: So I write him back and I say, but Louie,
- 1:18:30Speaker 7: I've been hearing that you actually jerked off in front
- 1:18:33Speaker 7: of people and cornered them and blah, blah.
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: And he's like, do you know these people are? I go,
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: I don't know anyone's name. That's a thing.
- 1:18:39Speaker 7: Like, I just hear all the stories, but no. And
- 1:18:42Speaker 7: he's like, so maybe it's a rumor. Maybe it's just like,
- 1:18:46Speaker 7: you know, and I said, but you did ask me
- 1:18:49Speaker 7: and he goes, well, I mean, I I've said things
- 1:18:50Speaker 7: to other people too, but I don't do that anymore.
- 1:18:52Speaker 7: And I said, so you've never jerked off in front
- 1:18:54Speaker 7: of anyone. You've never physically done anything. He goes, I
- 1:18:57Speaker 7: promise you, I haven't. And I said, okay, I guess
- 1:19:02Speaker 7: I believe you. And I think I made a choice
- 1:19:05Speaker 7: to believe him. And I said, here's the thing. The
- 1:19:06Speaker 7: press won't stop and this isn't going to go away.
- 1:19:09Speaker 7: So do you want to make, like, do you want
- 1:19:11Speaker 7: to come on my podcast? I mean, like, I know
- 1:19:13Speaker 7: you're really famous right now. And like, but do you
- 1:19:15Speaker 7: want to do like a joint statement with me? Because
- 1:19:18Speaker 7: people are saying you're paying me off. Like, I just
- 1:19:20Speaker 7: need everyone to know the truth so they'll stop. And
- 1:19:22Speaker 7: he's like, I can't. I'm in therapy and my daughters.
- 1:19:25Speaker 7: And I was like, you're right.
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: You're right. Like, I don't want to harm your daughters.
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:19:30Speaker 7: He's like, my therapist says, or something like that. Like,
- 1:19:32Speaker 7: just ignore it. And he's like, you have to ignore
- 1:19:35Speaker 7: it too. You just have to stop talking. You have
- 1:19:37Speaker 7: to ignore it. Like, don't react to anything.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Oh my God.
- 1:19:40Speaker 7: I mean, great advice in a way, but we know
- 1:19:43Speaker 7: why he's saying that. So he knew I was close
- 1:19:45Speaker 7: to the.
- 1:19:46Speaker 5: Target, right? And I believed him. I don't know why.
- 1:19:50Speaker 7: And so I had one interview coming up with the
- 1:19:55Speaker 7: Village Voice and they were going to promote my book
- 1:19:58Speaker 7: or something. And of course they asked the question, And
- 1:20:03Speaker 7: just thinking that, you know what, let's shut this shit down.
- 1:20:07Speaker 7: I said, I talked to Louie.
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: He apologized.
- 1:20:10Speaker 7: He said he did not do this to anyone. He's
- 1:20:13Speaker 7: my friend, and I believe him. So then the woman said, well,
- 1:20:19Speaker 7: what about Tig Notaro's show, Something Something Tennessee, where there
- 1:20:24Speaker 7: was an episode where there was like a guy based
- 1:20:26Speaker 7: on Louie that did the jerking off and the whatever.
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: Now, Tig's a good friend of mine, and I.
- 1:20:32Speaker 7: I'd actually told Tig the story about Louie because she
- 1:20:35Speaker 7: used to work with him on this show. And one
- 1:20:38Speaker 7: day I went to her house, she just had her babies.
- 1:20:40Speaker 7: And I was like, how is it working with Louie?
- 1:20:42Speaker 7: And we just talked for a minute. I was like,
- 1:20:44Speaker 7: you know that he's like kind of a bad guy, right?
- 1:20:46Speaker 7: And I told her my story. And I said, there's
- 1:20:48Speaker 7: all these rumors he did this to women. And Tig
- 1:20:51Speaker 7: was like, what? Like she literally did not know. They'd
- 1:20:53Speaker 7: never gotten to her, the rumors. And she was like,
- 1:20:56Speaker 7: so she immediately took action and like wrote an episode
- 1:20:59Speaker 7: of the show about him and like Stopped working with him.
- 1:21:01Speaker 7: And she went, Tig did the thing that I didn't do.
- 1:21:04Speaker 7: She went hunting to find out who these other women were.
- 1:21:10Speaker 7: And she found them. And like she wrangled this entire
- 1:21:14Speaker 7: thing together, I think, and like got the New York
- 1:21:17Speaker 7: Times involved. So I didn't know any of that, that
- 1:21:19Speaker 7: she was doing any of that. So when I said
- 1:21:24Speaker 7: to the village voice, he's my friend and I believe him. Meanwhile,
- 1:21:26Speaker 7: behind the scenes, Tig is like doing.
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: The real work. but she was really famous too. You
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: know what I mean? Like I, it was different. Like,
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: I don't think I could have achieved that.
- 1:21:35Speaker 7: And so, and I feel like I'm making excuses, but
- 1:21:38Speaker 7: I just like, I.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: Literally, I mean, you're not making excuses. I, I'm so
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: happy that you've told the whole story from beginning to end.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: I mean, I think it just makes so much sense.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: I was always confused by it. And that's why when
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: Chris and I talked about it the other day, you
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: were like, Oh my God. Yes. You know? Cause I
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: was like, I don't want to ask her to come
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: on because she says she doesn't want to talk about
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: it anymore. And like throughout the years.
- 1:22:02Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: Yeah. And now I really understand exactly what happened. And
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: I remember also during this time you had, you know,
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: sold a show to ABC, you had things happening and
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: the FX show and you had deals going and you
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: definitely didn't want to disrupt this. And this was before
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: me too, which now, now it's like such a freedom
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: that we have. Cause I'm like, who the fuck cares?
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: Like there's nobody that I wouldn't talk about. I mean,
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: There's not one person I won't talk about now. But
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: I will say I was definitely more guarded even four
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: or five years ago. Definitely.
- 1:22:36Speaker 7: And it's not that I thought Louis could end my career.
- 1:22:38Speaker 7: It's that people think you're crazy and they don't want
- 1:22:40Speaker 7: to work with you. They think you're going to be
- 1:22:41Speaker 7: a loud mouth on set. And they think if they
- 1:22:43Speaker 7: walk by you too closely, you're going to call them
- 1:22:46Speaker 7: a rapist.
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: And it's like, no.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:22:48Speaker 5: So I basically like, so the woman, the Village Voice
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: interviews me. I say, I believe him. He's my friend.
- 1:22:53Speaker 7: She goes, what about that episode Tig just did where
- 1:22:56Speaker 7: she's talking about? And I go, oh, I don't know
- 1:22:58Speaker 7: what Tig's talking about.
- 1:22:58Speaker 5: That's the tone. I said it like, I don't watch
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: the show. Not in a bad way. Just don't watch.
- 1:23:03Speaker 7: And I was like, oh, I don't know what she's
- 1:23:04Speaker 7: talking about. I go, oh, well, if Tig knows something
- 1:23:06Speaker 7: I don't like.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:23:07Speaker 7: I mean, if it turns out that these women come forward,
- 1:23:10Speaker 7: I believe them. But for now, I just don't know them.
- 1:23:12Speaker 7: So I believe Tig. Like I have to choose to
- 1:23:15Speaker 7: believe him and just put this to rest. So that
- 1:23:17Speaker 7: article comes out and then all these articles come out
- 1:23:20Speaker 7: about the article. Jen Kirkman says, I don't know what
- 1:23:23Speaker 7: Tig's talking about.
- 1:23:24Speaker 5: And I'm like, that's not what I meant.
- 1:23:26Speaker 7: So then I had to call Tig and be like,
- 1:23:27Speaker 7: there's all these articles coming out. Like I did not
- 1:23:30Speaker 7: say anything bad about you. I literally just said, oh,
- 1:23:32Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:23:33Speaker 5: Tell me.
- 1:23:33Speaker 7: I thought it was like an off the cuff question
- 1:23:35Speaker 7: to the to the woman interviewing me and Tig's like, yeah,
- 1:23:39Speaker 7: well there's a big New York times story coming out
- 1:23:40Speaker 7: next week.
- 1:23:41Speaker 5: I'm like, are you fucking kidding me? She's like, I'll
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: give the woman your info.
- 1:23:44Speaker 7: I'm like, Oh, so like Tig and I, like I
- 1:23:47Speaker 7: made peace, not that we were in any fight or anything,
- 1:23:49Speaker 7: but I wanted her to know, like, so then the
- 1:23:50Speaker 7: New York times calls me, do you want to be
- 1:23:52Speaker 7: in this article? And I was like, no, enough of
- 1:23:55Speaker 7: my fucking name. Like, I think the best thing is
- 1:23:57Speaker 7: if I'm not involved because I want the other victims
- 1:24:01Speaker 7: to like have their moment without my stupid name, once again,
- 1:24:04Speaker 7: being attached to something. And then when that came out,
- 1:24:08Speaker 7: I tweeted in regards to my last comments, like Louie
- 1:24:11Speaker 7: is no longer my friend and I, I don't believe
- 1:24:14Speaker 7: him and he's a liar and.
- 1:24:15Speaker 5: He's so cute. So sociopath. So that was it. Like
- 1:24:18Speaker 5: that is the fucking story.
- 1:24:20Speaker 7: And when he confessed, I really thought maybe he'll come
- 1:24:25Speaker 7: out and do, uh, maybe he'll go away for a
- 1:24:28Speaker 7: while and he'll come back and he'll talk about it
- 1:24:32Speaker 7: and he'll donate all the proceeds to whatever. But then
- 1:24:35Speaker 7: I realized, oh, he's always been a sociopath. And what
- 1:24:38Speaker 7: he got off on was scaring people. And then so lastly,
- 1:24:44Speaker 7: I'd only talked about it in the most unfunny way,
- 1:24:46Speaker 7: as this whole story has proven. So when I did
- 1:24:50Speaker 7: my comedy album a few months ago, I wasn't planning
- 1:24:53Speaker 7: on talking about it. I have a bit about a flasher.
- 1:24:55Speaker 7: I saw my first penis when I was four years
- 1:24:57Speaker 7: old at the town library. And the flasher had on
- 1:24:59Speaker 7: a Burberry jacket. You know, they used to dress so good.
- 1:25:02Speaker 7: And they'd open their coat and show you their dick.
- 1:25:04Speaker 7: And so I said, that's been, that's the life of
- 1:25:06Speaker 7: a woman is like everywhere you go to do something else,
- 1:25:09Speaker 7: a guy's trying to show you their dick. And I said,
- 1:25:12Speaker 7: you know, flashers used to dress so well. And it
- 1:25:14Speaker 7: came flying out of my mouth as though like a
- 1:25:17Speaker 7: spiritual intervention was happening. Like I was not in control
- 1:25:22Speaker 7: of what I was saying. It was just coming, pouring out.
- 1:25:24Speaker 7: And I said, you know, flashers used to dress so well.
- 1:25:26Speaker 7: And Louis CK tried to show me his dick. He
- 1:25:28Speaker 7: was just wearing a shitty black t-shirt and the audience gasped.
- 1:25:31Speaker 7: And I was like, let's go. And I told them, one.
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: Aspect of the story, which was the bar scene.
- 1:25:37Speaker 7: And the reason I told it is because I'm so
- 1:25:40Speaker 7: tired of hearing people say he asked for consent.
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: I'm like, that is not what consent means.
- 1:25:47Speaker 7: A girl that you sort of work with and you're
- 1:25:49Speaker 7: married with kids, you go to a public bar and
- 1:25:51Speaker 7: ask her if you can jerk off in that bar.
- 1:25:54Speaker 5: That's not asking consent.
- 1:25:55Speaker 7: The whole situation is is not with like, I'm not
- 1:25:59Speaker 7: consenting to being even asked something like that.
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: There's, that's not what consent means.
- 1:26:03Speaker 7: Consent is like, you're my boyfriend and you ask me something,
- 1:26:06Speaker 7: you know? And so he has been, so after he
- 1:26:09Speaker 7: apologized in the New York times, a year later, he
- 1:26:11Speaker 7: comes out with a special called sorry, which is so gaslighting.
- 1:26:15Speaker 7: And he makes fun of his victims. And he says
- 1:26:17Speaker 7: that he asked their consent and they said yes. And
- 1:26:20Speaker 7: his joke is what I've learned is if people say yes,
- 1:26:23Speaker 7: you have to ask, are you sure? So he totally
- 1:26:27Speaker 7: lied and said that people said yes, even though the
- 1:26:30Speaker 7: ones that did probably went, yeah, like kidding.
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: They didn't realize he was serious. And so he lied.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: The point is with the emails that he sent to
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: you and Rebecca, he doesn't remember his facts or his
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: victims or anything. And, you know, anyway, so like.
- 1:26:47Speaker 7: So then he handed his fans a bunch of talking
- 1:26:50Speaker 7: points with that special.
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: So now he goes, I asked consent. So now they go,
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: what's the big deal?
- 1:26:54Speaker 7: He asked consent and you said, yes, but, but, but, but,
- 1:26:56Speaker 7: and then he goes, I lost 50 million. $ 50 million
- 1:26:59Speaker 7: was not taken out of his bank account.
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: He added up all the deals that he could have
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: gotten a big deal.
- 1:27:05Speaker 7: Oh, I just lost a hundred million. Like you can
- 1:27:07Speaker 7: just say anything, you know, like, um, he's still very wealthy.
- 1:27:11Speaker 7: He's never not been a millionaire, blah, blah, blah. And so, um,
- 1:27:15Speaker 7: Long story, even longer, I released my album.
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: You've lost the deals because the behavior that you've been
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: doing finally got out and people knew your real character
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: and your work is based on your character. Your character
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: isn't cute anymore. That's why you lost the fucking deals. Right.
- 1:27:31Speaker 7: And it's like, you know, it's like it's a corporate
- 1:27:33Speaker 7: world like Netflix, ABC, their corporations. Like if you destroy
- 1:27:38Speaker 7: your own brand. What the fuck would they want to
- 1:27:40Speaker 7: do with you? They're not going to make any money.
- 1:27:42Speaker 7: They're not doing it to be woke. They're doing it
- 1:27:44Speaker 7: because they're not going to make money because you tarnished
- 1:27:46Speaker 7: your own brand. And you're an HR liability because a
- 1:27:49Speaker 7: lot of this stuff he did in the fucking workplace.
- 1:27:51Speaker 7: And I don't mean comedy clubs. He did it on
- 1:27:53Speaker 7: sets and things like that. And so I released the
- 1:27:57Speaker 7: album and I say, oh, isn't this amazing?
- 1:27:59Speaker 5: Like I'm finally doing something that's funny.
- 1:28:03Speaker 7: And all these guys are like free speech. I can
- 1:28:05Speaker 7: just say it's just jokes, you know. And Louis wins
- 1:28:09Speaker 7: a Grammy for that album where he makes fun of
- 1:28:11Speaker 7: his victims the week my album comes out. And so
- 1:28:15Speaker 7: I've got this clip going around where I'm making fun
- 1:28:18Speaker 7: of Louis. So the harassment happened all over again. But
- 1:28:22Speaker 7: this time I was like, I'm going to fucking make
- 1:28:24Speaker 7: money off it. Every time I got harassed, I just
- 1:28:27Speaker 7: kept leaning into it, promoting it, and being like, buy
- 1:28:30Speaker 7: my album.
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: I was like, fuck it.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:28:32Speaker 7: So it did hurt me. I did have like minor,
- 1:28:36Speaker 7: the PTSD is not from Louis. It's from people harassing me,
- 1:28:39Speaker 7: you know? And so that's, I did say, I don't
- 1:28:42Speaker 7: want to talk about it, but only to like, I
- 1:28:44Speaker 7: don't want to talk about it to the press, but
- 1:28:45Speaker 7: like friends who have a podcast, of course, you know,
- 1:28:47Speaker 7: and a woman, not like.
- 1:28:49Speaker 5: Whatever, but it's just so, it's just, he's just so gross.
- 1:28:55Speaker 7: And like the bottom line is like, I think we
- 1:28:57Speaker 7: need to stop framing it as like, It's offensive.
- 1:29:00Speaker 5: Like, he's just a fucking loser.
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: Like, what a loser.
- 1:29:04Speaker 5: Just what a loser.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. And, you know, that this is how he
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: conducted himself all these years and presented himself like, you know,
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: he was such an advocate of women by doing, what's
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: her name, the Adlon show, Better Off Women.
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, Better Things.
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: Yeah. Better Things, you know, and.
- 1:29:25Speaker 5: And that was his cover, I guess.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: Yeah, to act like he was this big, you know,
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: advocate of female comics and everything when it was always
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: he had an underlying desire. I bring this up so
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: many times when I talk about Louis C.K., but I got...
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: wind of the movie that he did. I think it
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: has been scraped everywhere. I don't know if anyone can
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: find it.
- 1:29:43Speaker 5: Oh, that like daddy's girl or whatever.
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: Yeah. It's this black and white film. That's very much
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: in the vein of Woody Allen. And he is the
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: voice of, um, he wrote the movie and started it.
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: And he's like the moral voice in it. And his,
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: you know, his wife uses horrible language and his friend
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: is jerking off in front of an executive and, And
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: his daughter is pursuing a 70-year-old man who she wants
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: to fuck. And then when he talks about it, this
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: other girl that he's with says, I pursued a 38-year-old
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: man when I was 17. So the whole movie was
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: put out. It was supposed to be put out in
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: the media, but they pulled it because of the scandal.
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: For people to see it like they did the movie
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: Manhattan or whatever that was, thinking, oh, I guess this.
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: 40-year-old man or in Woody Allen's case, you know, or
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: this 70-year-old man in this Louis C.K. movie, I guess
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: a 17-year-old woman would really be attracted to him and
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: really willingly is mature enough to want to fuck him.
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: And oh, really, she's the manipulator. And really, she's the
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: one that's driving this relationship. Maybe, you know, maybe a
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: Lolita situation is okay. And that is where, when people
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: talk about people in media, and it can go to extremes, whatever,
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: putting the ideas in our heads that something is okay,
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: it is so true. Because you look back at movies
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: from 20 years ago and go, I cannot believe this
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: movie was made at a studio. That people put this
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: out thinking that this would be okay for millions of
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: people to see and get in our heads. And so.
- 1:31:21Speaker 5: We've all been groomed by things like this.
- 1:31:24Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: So I'm like, that was such a grooming mechanism. And
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: I wish that the movie could get out because I
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: think if it got out and if more people talked
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: about it, I don't, I think they would, who knows?
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: You know what? If they, if people like Louis CK
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: and the club wants to put them on and the
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: people want to come and pay to see them, then
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: that is their freedom as a club owner and their
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: freedom as a Patrion and you know, a patron. And
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: a patron, not Patreon, a patron. But, you know, that's
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: the right of America. And I don't want to see
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: that shut down. But I also love that we're able
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: to talk about it and share our stories. And that's
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: why I always say people should share your whole story
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: from your perspective, because it's easier if you say it
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: all and then someone tries to poke holes and they
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: give their version and then you have to defend yourself.
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: So sometimes when I feel like in my career, when
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: when people, you know, said, I'm going to say this
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: about you. I was like, you know what? There's a
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: story I haven't told you guys yet. And I'm going
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: to tell you right now this because good luck trying
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: to come, you know, once I've already shared my side
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: of it. So I think you, I really love that
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: you said it and I want people to understand your
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: perspective and what you went through and, and you explained
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: it really, really well. And I never really understood all
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: the nuances of it either because, And and then how
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: it just kept going like this and people kept going
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: back and forth and back and forth. And and so I.
- 1:32:51Speaker 7: Want to imagine if your fans were so rabid for
- 1:32:54Speaker 7: you that they just harassed people all day and told
- 1:32:56Speaker 7: them to kill themselves. Like, wouldn't you jump in and
- 1:32:58Speaker 7: be like, guys, what are you doing? We're not creating
- 1:33:00Speaker 7: this kind of culture, but he loves it.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: But I mean, I have been harassed by Selena Gomez robots.
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: And I will never say a negative thing about Selena
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: Gomez either. It was like 72 hours of rat emojis
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: and me having to block people. And it was, I
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: get it. Do you think these.
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: People hire bot farms?
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: I think Louie has hired a bot farm.
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: Yes, because when it was first happening to me, I thought, wow,
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: these teenagers certainly have a lot of time on their hands.
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: Don't they have to go to Zoom school or something?
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: How do they have this much time? And then I
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: realized whether she's part of it or not or her team,
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: 100% that happens and it works. It's the cyber mafia.
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: It does work. It does get under your skin and
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: it makes you go, God, it's just not worth it.
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: I'll never talk a negative story about her again because like,
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: you know, forget it, you know? Um, so I definitely
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: think it happens, you know, some might be, some might
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: be genuine, but I think a lot are bought.
- 1:34:10Speaker 7: No I think they're all mixed in I think like
- 1:34:12Speaker 7: Chris D'Elia is a great example of a groomer his
- 1:34:15Speaker 7: entire act was to attract teenage girls he's like girls
- 1:34:18Speaker 7: say this like a man in his 40s calling women
- 1:34:20Speaker 7: girls like and then when girls are drunk they're like
- 1:34:22Speaker 7: this I'm like what girls are you hanging out with
- 1:34:24Speaker 7: like you sound like you're this is material that an
- 1:34:27Speaker 7: 18 year old should be doing right he wanted like
- 1:34:30Speaker 7: and that's why I get sad like all these like
- 1:34:32Speaker 7: young young women like they all like those are all
- 1:34:35Speaker 7: his fans and then he does that on purpose so
- 1:34:37Speaker 7: he can dm them and blah blah like it's just
- 1:34:40Speaker 7: such a gross business that I'm glad like.
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: I'm glad it's been exposed and I'm glad people's eyes
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: are kind of open. Cause once you see it, you're like,
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: you're right. That is weird. That was grooming that, Oh
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: my God, I never thought of it like that. You know?
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: And that's why I like discussing this type of stuff sometimes,
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: you know?
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: Cause I have to be more patient.
- 1:35:00Speaker 7: Like it is just the beginning of people realizing this
- 1:35:03Speaker 7: stuff and I'm like, let's fix it now.
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: But, but it, it'll get there.
- 1:35:06Speaker 6: Yes.
- 1:35:06Speaker 7: People will be like grossed out on their own by
- 1:35:08Speaker 7: these kind of people. You know, it's going to take
- 1:35:11Speaker 7: a while.
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: Jen, thank you so much for coming on Juicy Scoop.
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: I miss you. Tell everybody where they can see the
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: latest albums, the books, the podcasts, go for it.
- 1:35:22Speaker 7: Well, something I'm doing I'm very passionate about is my
- 1:35:25Speaker 7: new podcast called Anxiety Bites.
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: It's free everywhere you get podcasts. I'm doing it with iHeartRadio.
- 1:35:30Speaker 7: Um, I love it and I interview like experts about anxiety,
- 1:35:33Speaker 7: but it's like fun and you know, people swear. And
- 1:35:36Speaker 7: so if you think you're need some help, go listen
- 1:35:38Speaker 7: to that. And then I have a new comedy album
- 1:35:40Speaker 7: called okay, Jen X. And you can hear that Louie
- 1:35:43Speaker 7: story and funny stories about my mom and Catholicism and blah, blah, blah.
- 1:35:46Speaker 7: And you can buy that on iTunes or Amazon or,
- 1:35:48Speaker 7: you know, just go to, um, my Twitter at Jen Kirkman.
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: Everything's in my link there. Jen.
- 1:35:54Speaker 6: Jen.
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: Thank you. Let me know when you're back in LA.
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: Let's go out with our boy, Chris Frangela and Sarah
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: and anyone else that's in town.
- 1:36:02Speaker 7: I hope to be back a few times between June
- 1:36:05Speaker 7: and July, like a couple of times each month. Hopefully
- 1:36:08Speaker 7: not catching, you know, COVID on my flight there.
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: So we'll see. Stop being a negative. Listen. You're going
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: to come out. You're going to come on our boat. Oh, no,
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: you get seasick. Never mind. No, I don't.
- 1:36:19Speaker 5: No, I don't. What kind of boat? No, on a
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: whale watch? It's not a whale watch, is it?
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: No, it's just around Newport.
- 1:36:25Speaker 7: Oh, no, I won't get seasick from that. I only
- 1:36:27Speaker 7: get seasick on like a whale watch.
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: Okay, then you're invited.
- 1:36:29Speaker 5: So just keep me away from like the ocean. I'll
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: come on the boat.
- 1:36:32Speaker 7: And then I'm excited for Sex and the City season two.
- 1:36:36Speaker 5: I will probably be back in LA.
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: Okay, wait, before you go, before you go, tell me
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: your predictions.
- 1:36:43Speaker 7: Okay, well- Gee, I don't know if I have real predictions,
- 1:36:46Speaker 7: but what I want is, I'm going to tell you
- 1:36:49Speaker 7: what I want. I want Che Diaz, who is like,
- 1:36:52Speaker 7: you know, politically correct about everything. If you remember in
- 1:36:57Speaker 7: the last episode, she's like, I'm doing a pilot and
- 1:37:00Speaker 7: Tony Danza's playing my dad, even though he's not Mexican.
- 1:37:02Speaker 7: I want her to get canceled for allowing a white
- 1:37:04Speaker 7: guy to play her dad. I want her to have
- 1:37:07Speaker 7: a scandal where it's like, oh, she's Miss Woke, except for,
- 1:37:10Speaker 7: you know, when it's going to be her success. I
- 1:37:12Speaker 7: want Miranda to break up with her and go back
- 1:37:16Speaker 7: to New York and try to do that internship and
- 1:37:18Speaker 7: have her black professor be like listen white bitch like
- 1:37:21Speaker 7: you can't be like I want this internship oh wait
- 1:37:23Speaker 7: now I don't like you're acting the most white privilege
- 1:37:27Speaker 7: ever and you think you're like you know helping the
- 1:37:28Speaker 7: world and you're not I want Carrie's podcast to stop
- 1:37:31Speaker 7: taking phone calls I want no more anyone's kids don't
- 1:37:35Speaker 7: care about the kids no one's kids can be in
- 1:37:37Speaker 7: it um and I want Charlotte to act like whatever's
- 1:37:43Speaker 7: going on with her. I need her to act a
- 1:37:44Speaker 7: little more normal. Like, I don't know how to explain it.
- 1:37:47Speaker 7: She seems out of it. Like the, the actress, not
- 1:37:50Speaker 7: the character. She's just saying her, saying her lines weird.
- 1:37:53Speaker 7: I don't know how to explain it.
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: Um, I have a good storyline for Charlotte that just
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: came into my head.
- 1:37:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: So I don't have the winner, the winner, the older daughter,
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: you know, that she adopted. I forgot her Lily. Um,
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: she's such a winner. She, after everything, she gets accepted
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: to a bunch of colleges. She's like, I don't want
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: to do college. I don't want to go. I'm not
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: going to do the scholarship. I'm not going to do this.
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: But Lily, we got you into Princeton and NYU and Stanford.
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: What do you mean? And it's like, that's your dream, mom.
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: I'm not a sorority girl. I did all this. And
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: you're letting Rose be a, what was the boys now?
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: Rose being Red Rock.
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: Red Rock.
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: You're letting Rose be a boy. You can let me
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: not be an Ivy Leaguer. To fill out your dream
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: at your fancy thing. But all your other stuff I love.
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: And then the podcast thing, I was watching a complete
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: marathon of the original series this past weekend. Oh, so great.
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: And the podcast thing just doesn't work because it's about
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: the narration in her head. So I think she does...
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: Either we have no narration or we just get rid
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: of that altogether. But we definitely do not need to
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: see corny jokes and multiple people talking. Oh, I'm going
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: to have to tell you the funniest thing. So I'm
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: with Brandon, my son, and we're getting a salad after
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: a beach day because he's on spring break. And I
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: parked my car and this guy parks his car. He's
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: probably like 35. It's just like out in Westlake Village.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: And I put on my sweatshirt from Juicy Scoop. And
- 1:39:41Speaker 2: how he, it didn't even say Juicy Scoop on it,
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: but somehow he goes, oh, is that merch from your show?
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: And I go, yeah. I go, yeah. He goes, what
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: kind of show is it? I go, it's a podcast
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: called Juicy Scoop. And he goes, oh, really? I've got
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: a podcast too. And he has like a pretty nice
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: car and everything. And, you know, we, we interview gangsters
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: and maybe we didn't say gangsters, but he said we
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: interview like celebrities, rappers, whatever. And I go, okay, great.
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: So on the ride home, I go, Brandon, let's just, oh,
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: and the name of the podcast is his license plate.
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: So I'm like, let's just listen to it on the
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: way home. And he goes, well, God, they don't have
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: a lot. Right away, Brandon's like a podcast expert. He's like,
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: they don't have a lot of reviews and they only
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: have five episodes at. So I don't know out. So
- 1:40:29Speaker 2: I don't see what, how big of a hit this is.
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: I go, let's just listen to it. It is three guys.
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: talking about fast food for the first seven minutes. Oh.
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: And then, I mean, and they're like, all right, let's get,
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: I'm like, this is why people think that they can
- 1:40:46Speaker 2: be podcasters. Listen, I don't know how to be a contractor.
- 1:40:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: It's like me trying to drywall something and wire something.
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: It's like, just because you know how to speak does
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: not mean that you can have a successful podcast with
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: your two other friends. That is what I felt like
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: they were showing us with the Sex and the City,
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: you know, and just like that podcast. It was that horrific.
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: It was like an outsider thinking this is what it's
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: like me thinking this is what it must be like
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: for like contractors to get together and build a house.
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: I don't know how to fucking do it. Yeah, I
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: have one more.
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: It's not a prediction. It's a suggestion. As we have these.
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: political tensions with Russia.
- 1:41:27Speaker 7: It reminds me of the eighties when everyone was like,
- 1:41:29Speaker 7: it's not the Russian people, it's the Russian government, you know,
- 1:41:33Speaker 7: so we need like that kind of, we had a
- 1:41:35Speaker 7: lot of programming, like family ties had Alex playing chess
- 1:41:38Speaker 7: with a Russian guy and they became best friends, whatever.
- 1:41:40Speaker 7: So Carrie and Baryshnikov need to get back together. So
- 1:41:44Speaker 7: Alexander needs to come back and say, you know, Paris,
- 1:41:49Speaker 7: it was, um, I'm so lonely. I don't want to
- 1:41:51Speaker 7: be with you and live in New York and, they
- 1:41:53Speaker 7: get back together and it's like this Russian American romance.
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: And that's also awkward. Cause whoever is in their friend
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: group shows up with like the Ukraine thing on their
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: hat or whatever flag is like flying everywhere. And so
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: it's like, Oh, awkward. Okay. Last, last, other last thing about, uh,
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: the show. Um, wait, who else is there? There's Miranda.
- 1:42:14Speaker 5: Um, Oh, all the new characters. I don't care about.
- 1:42:17Speaker 6: Oh God.
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: I was going to say one other thing. I can't remember. Anyway, I, I'm,
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: Oh no, I know. In the original show, you know,
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: because there was so much commentary, which you did great
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: commentary on it too. I loved watching your TikToks and stuff.
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: Someone said, you know, I think the reason there's a
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: problem with In Just Like That is because when we
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: watched it, these girls were in their 30s. And we
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: were watching it as girls in our 30s or even
- 1:42:42Speaker 2: younger girls. So there was a hope of like every episode,
- 1:42:45Speaker 2: is this going to be the one? Who are they
- 1:42:47Speaker 2: going to end up with? Yet they're 30 and they
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: have money and they have cute outfits and they can
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: pay for a full dinner. But they get to fuck
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: different guys every week. What a fun thing to aspire
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: to be, right? Yeah. So then at 55, one is dead.
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: One is, you know, gay and exploring sexuality. Another one, like,
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: is no longer liking her husband and her son. Her
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: daughter is now a son. And, like, we're dealing with
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: all this stuff. And it's like, my friends and I
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: are a little bit younger than them. But I'm like,
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: I could not be more happy with my life. Like,
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: I'm having fun. I finally have some money. My friends
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: and I are meeting up. We're, you know... Most of
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: my friends are happily married. But then again, I guess
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: they thought that wouldn't be enough tension and drama. But
- 1:43:34Speaker 2: I still think we could see these girls at that
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: age having aspiring things. Of course. You have that to
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: look forward to. It even is better. It's even more fun. Instead,
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: it's all this depressing stuff that comes with age. There's
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: some really good things that come with age.
- 1:43:53Speaker 5: Loving my life.
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:43:55Speaker 7: And I'm just like, yeah, there's things that like, there's challenges,
- 1:43:59Speaker 7: but like we, yeah, that would make it funny.
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: Yeah. And the last thing I was going to say,
- 1:44:04Speaker 2: the last thing I was going to say is the
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: other thing I never noticed that people brought up is
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: what a bitch Carrie's character was and how actually unsupportive
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: and awful she was about everything. She was negative about
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: Charlotte marrying Trey and, They were rude about it. Like
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: there was one time where like Miranda talks about Steve
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: having testicular cancer and she's like, okay, but I have
- 1:44:29Speaker 2: to go to a farm this weekend. So try to
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: talk to that. Like every single thing was like, if
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: that was your real friend, you'd be like, fuck you.
- 1:44:37Speaker 2: And so that's why with the backstory of really what's
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: the writer's idea of why Charlotte left besides them being
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: a bitch to her on set for 20 years is
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: I was a really good friend. Kim Cattrall.
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: Not Charlotte.
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 1:44:49Speaker 2: Kim Cattrall. Samantha. It was like, I was a really
- 1:44:52Speaker 2: good friend to you for a long time. And I
- 1:44:55Speaker 2: finally woke up during COVID and we had a fucking
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: COVID friendship breakup because I realized you were an exhausting bitch.
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: And when I didn't have to deal with you for
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: six months, I really didn't miss it. That's the truth.
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: I really agree with that.
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:45:11Speaker 7: Samantha was always the greatest friend on the show, so
- 1:45:13Speaker 7: supportive of everyone, busiest career, always made time for people.
- 1:45:17Speaker 7: And even this season, this new reboot, Carrie was such
- 1:45:21Speaker 7: a prude about sex. It was like, you're a sex columnist.
- 1:45:24Speaker 7: And Charlotte would be like, I blew Harry. She's like, okay.
- 1:45:29Speaker 7: And you know they do this all the time. They
- 1:45:30Speaker 7: did it in the first original series, too. Whenever someone
- 1:45:33Speaker 7: says something about sex at lunch, Carrie cancels it.
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: Cancel my rice pudding.
- 1:45:38Speaker 6: Yes, yes, yes.
- 1:45:40Speaker 5: I'm like, you can't eat and hear about sex.
- 1:45:41Speaker 7: Like, it's so weird. I think it's like Michael Patrick King.
- 1:45:44Speaker 7: This is the funniest joke.
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: In the world.
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: But she's such a crude.
- 1:45:49Speaker 7: I didn't realize she was like a terrible person until
- 1:45:51Speaker 7: like recently. I'm like, did I watch the entire series
- 1:45:54Speaker 7: thinking she was normal?
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: Maybe I was a jerk.
- 1:45:55Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:45:56Speaker 2: People now realize that Louis C.K. and Karen Bradshaw.
- 1:46:01Speaker 5: Are terrible people.
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I love you, Jen.
- 1:46:05Speaker 5: I love you more.
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: Thank you so much. I'll see you in hopefully a
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: month or two.
