- 1:52Speaker1: Um, so now that's over with.
- 1:56Speaker1: Um, Brandon, my man,
- 2:00Speaker1: let's talk into it. Let's, uh, how's your week been, bro?
- 2:01Speaker0: Oh, it's been great.
- 2:02Speaker0: Yesterday I did this director's workshop with the
- 2:06Speaker0: Modest Film Society here locally in Sacramento. And,
- 2:10Speaker0: uh, I was one of the actors. So essentially all the directors
- 2:14Speaker0: who took part in the workshop got to give us direction as
- 2:18Speaker0: actors. So it's really helpful to keep like working on your craft.
- 2:22Speaker0: And I think, um, we're gonna see more of these type of workshops coming up
- 2:26Speaker0: here locally. just to give people more experience. And so I
- 2:30Speaker0: think it's a great thing to keep doing that. And who—
- 2:33Speaker1: you said this was
- 2:34Speaker1: with Modern Spill Society?
- 2:35Speaker0: Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker1: Okay, dope. No, I've been to, um,
- 2:38Speaker1: a couple of their things. I like, I like their come up, that they— how
- 2:42Speaker1: they, they kind of risen like
- 2:46Speaker1: in the Sacramento ranks and stuff like that. Because originally,
- 2:50Speaker1: weren't they just doing it like that little small theater? Yeah, they just started off
- 2:54Speaker1: that.
- 2:54Speaker0: Yeah, it started out— I started go into their stuff about over
- 2:58Speaker0: 2 years ago when they first started, and they just had a
- 3:02Speaker0: couple people, and they've grown. Like, so what they— their whole point
- 3:06Speaker0: is they show local films once a month,
- 3:10Speaker0: every last Thursday of the month. And so you submit
- 3:14Speaker0: your film for free, and it might have a chance to
- 3:18Speaker0: get in to be screened. That way, before you do the festivals, you can
- 3:22Speaker0: kind of gauge how the audience is going to react to your film.
- 3:26Speaker0: So not only that, but you get feedback on your film.
- 3:29Speaker0: So it's, I think it's really great. And then at the end of
- 3:33Speaker0: the night, if your film gets drawn out of a hat,
- 3:37Speaker0: you win a modest film fund.
- 3:40Speaker1: Okay.
- 3:41Speaker0: So then you have to make another film within
- 3:45Speaker0: 30 days, similar to what, uh, Keir puts on.
- 3:49Speaker1: Okay. And what was this event that you went to specifically?
- 3:53Speaker0: It was through Modest Film Society and it was a director's workshop
- 3:57Speaker0: and they had it at the Clara, uh, in Midtown.
- 4:01Speaker1: Okay. Yeah. Okay. How many people turned out for that?
- 4:04Speaker0: Uh,
- 4:04Speaker0: quite a few, honestly. I think it was anywhere from about,
- 4:08Speaker0: I would say about 20.
- 4:10Speaker1: Okay.
- 4:10Speaker0: A good amount of people though.
- 4:12Speaker1: Okay.
- 4:12Speaker0: Yeah.
- 4:13Speaker1: Dope, dope, dope.
- 4:13Speaker0: And that was the first one.
- 4:15Speaker1: Okay. So, mm-hmm. And so you think they're gonna keep doing it?
- 4:18Speaker0: I think so.
- 4:19Speaker1: All right. Yeah. Cool. Cool. If he's trying to, if he's trying to incorporate SAG
- 4:23Speaker1: into this, you know, SAG-AFTRA, let me know. I can help him out with that.
- 4:25Speaker1: All right. Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker0: Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker1: Let him know. I'll help him out with
- 4:29Speaker1: that. Um, uh, speaking of which, speaking of SAG-AFTRA, this past week,
- 4:33Speaker1: our, um, uh, SAG-AFTRA Next Gen committee— Next Gen,
- 4:37Speaker1: Next Gen— we had our, um, we had our second,
- 4:41Speaker1: uh, mixer of the year. This one was our, it was our,
- 4:44Speaker1: we called it our multi-hyphenate mixer.
- 4:46Speaker0: Nice.
- 4:46Speaker1: So basically just anybody who,
- 4:49Speaker1: you know, after union but kind of, um, dabbles in different areas and
- 4:53Speaker1: stuff like that in the entertainment business. And that was, that was dope. They said
- 4:56Speaker1: it was a success, uh, they liked it. So as far as like Next Gen
- 4:59Speaker1: goes, we're 2 for 2 for events, um, this year as far as being
- 5:03Speaker1: a success. Uh, the thing that I like the most about this one, this was
- 5:07Speaker1: like the first time, like it was, it was a mixer, but like when I
- 5:09Speaker1: first walked into it, it was like, because I got there late because of the
- 5:11Speaker1: traffic and whatnot, But like, it was,
- 5:14Speaker1: um, it was, it was like kind of quiet at first because, you know,
- 5:18Speaker1: usually you go to this, like, you know, music or whatever, stuff like that.
- 5:21Speaker1: I was like, what the hell going on? Like, I walk in, everybody's like kind
- 5:24Speaker1: of like in a circle or whatever.
- 5:26Speaker0: That's funny.
- 5:29Speaker1: Yeah, I was like, what is this, man? But then like, it was, um,
- 5:32Speaker1: it was cool because everybody was just going around and just like, just giving like
- 5:36Speaker1: a backstory, like who they are.
- 5:38Speaker0: Okay.
- 5:38Speaker1: Um,
- 5:40Speaker1: um, what they do in acting and all this stuff, how we got our SAG
- 5:44Speaker1: card and what we're doing now to, you know, consider ourselves like a multi-hyphenate and
- 5:47Speaker1: stuff like that. But it was cool, like I said, like, because like I said,
- 5:51Speaker1: usually like we go to mixers, we used to like, you know, mix and mingle,
- 5:53Speaker1: but it was way more organized, way more structured than just, you know, kind of
- 5:57Speaker1: like going around in a circle, everybody saying what they do. So we was able
- 6:00Speaker1: to hear from everybody about what they do
- 6:04Speaker1: rather than kind of pick and choose, like, oh, I want to talk to this
- 6:06Speaker1: person, I want to talk to this person. It was like everybody got a chance
- 6:08Speaker1: to kind of speak to everybody.
- 6:10Speaker0: I like that. It was different
- 6:12Speaker0: because it's not— that's not like a typical—
- 6:15Speaker1: Yeah, it was like this experience.
- 6:16Speaker1: Yeah, it wasn't typical and stuff like that. It was good because we had— it
- 6:19Speaker1: wasn't just actors, it was also like, you know, we had staff members there too.
- 6:23Speaker1: So it was a good opportunity for, um, us to even talk
- 6:27Speaker1: to the staff members, or the staff members to talk to us, to kind of
- 6:30Speaker1: get an understanding as far as like how,
- 6:32Speaker1: um, SAG-AFTRA kind of how we work, how we're supposed to work
- 6:37Speaker1: together to kind of, um, uh, build the community together. And so
- 6:41Speaker1: kind of going forward, um,
- 6:44Speaker1: um, uh, we kind of have an idea of how we want to
- 6:48Speaker1: move and stuff all like that. And it was crazy.
- 6:48Speaker0: That's great.
- 6:49Speaker1: One of the
- 6:50Speaker1: actresses there, she was, um, she, she was kind of— it was kind of like
- 6:53Speaker1: her, um, her idea to put it on and stuff all like that.
- 6:56Speaker1: And I'm gonna forget her name, but I, I'll remember it next
- 7:01Speaker1: episode. I'm sorry. But, um, but she had just— she was just on an episode
- 7:05Speaker1: of, um, The Pit.
- 7:06Speaker0: Oh nice.
- 7:07Speaker1: Yeah, she has Ella Brandon and shit like that.
- 7:08Speaker1: I just scrolled through her Instagram afterwards. I was like, oh, she— oh, big things.
- 7:12Speaker0: That's great, man. That's inspiring to hear that because that's,
- 7:15Speaker0: that's exactly what we're all looking to get to, that next level.
- 7:19Speaker0: And it's stuff like this that I feel like can get you to that next
- 7:23Speaker0: level because we're all striving to be better and these are the type of things
- 7:27Speaker0: that we need.
- 7:27Speaker1: Yeah.
- 7:28Speaker0: And it's all about community too,
- 7:31Speaker0: like helping grow, help each other lift each other up
- 7:35Speaker0: and keep growing together.
- 7:36Speaker1: No. Yeah. And like I said, this was the first time
- 7:39Speaker1: from my understanding, from what I feel like is where,
- 7:42Speaker1: um, like we're a union, so we're a labor union. Anybody don't
- 7:47Speaker1: understand what SAG-AFTRA is, there's kind of like this label, like famous to be like,
- 7:50Speaker1: no, we're just essentially a labor union, you know what I'm saying? So we're used
- 7:54Speaker1: to like, you know, industry and all this type of stuff. But this was the
- 7:57Speaker1: first time kind of where we was kind of integrating like community-based aspects.
- 8:01Speaker0: And that's what I like. That's why I speak to that is because I think
- 8:05Speaker0: it helps you too as a union as well,
- 8:09Speaker0: like be stronger. I think that's only gonna help
- 8:12Speaker0: the impact grow, you know, because how else,
- 8:15Speaker0: maybe there's people that don't know. I would,
- 8:19Speaker0: there, there might be potentially some young actors for
- 8:23Speaker0: instance, that might not know, right? Like, there's— because
- 8:26Speaker0: you do have to educate yourself at some point.
- 8:29Speaker1: No.
- 8:30Speaker1: Yeah.
- 8:30Speaker0: And even like, you might not even know all the rules too. Like,
- 8:34Speaker0: a lot of this I'm still learning.
- 8:35Speaker1: Yeah.
- 8:36Speaker0: Like, there's still things that I personally
- 8:38Speaker0: can learn. And so having somebody like yourself
- 8:42Speaker0: repping and being that leader, we need that.
- 8:45Speaker1: Yeah. No, yeah, I appreciate that. But, um, no, that was— that's one thing that
- 8:49Speaker1: I realized too, kind of like when I went out to, um, Talked to the
- 8:52Speaker1: high school kids like a couple weeks ago or whatever. Yeah. And I was just
- 8:55Speaker1: all like, well, they didn't really have like,
- 8:59Speaker1: um, like a theater or like, you know, performing arts program as
- 9:03Speaker1: it was, stuff like that. So it was kind of like weird talking to them
- 9:06Speaker1: about like, you know, getting into acting or whatever. But like I said, just kind
- 9:10Speaker1: of building those blocks early so they don't have
- 9:14Speaker1: those, um, roadblocks that we had.
- 9:16Speaker0: And what is it called?
- 9:18Speaker0: Is it called Owls?
- 9:19Speaker1: I don't know if that's what it was called. Yeah,
- 9:22Speaker1: I don't know if it was— that's what it was called exactly, stuff like that.
- 9:24Speaker1: But yeah, um, but yeah, we talked about that on the previous episode
- 9:28Speaker1: for sure. Um,
- 9:31Speaker1: that's how the week has been, man.
- 9:35Speaker1: Uh, let's, um, shit, let's just get into it, man. Let's get
- 9:39Speaker1: into these, uh, these hot topics of what's going on right now, y'all. So,
- 9:42Speaker1: uh, right now we're about to get into the First segment of the show,
- 9:46Speaker1: you know how we do, man. This is called the Yeah Buddy or Nobody,
- 9:49Speaker1: and this is where we break down some of the hot topics or things
- 9:53Speaker1: that are interesting us in the entertainment business, and we just see if this is
- 9:57Speaker1: a yeah buddy situation or a nobody situation. Is this good or is this bad?
- 10:00Speaker1: So let's, um, let's break it down right here. Brandon's got some hot heat
- 10:04Speaker1: coming in for some new, uh, you see how I play that?
- 10:08Speaker0: Yes.
- 10:09Speaker1: You know what I'm saying? But yeah, some, some some new casting
- 10:12Speaker1: news going on right now. Uh, let's break it down and, you know,
- 10:16Speaker1: overall what we're seeing from this movie. For sure.
- 10:19Speaker0: Yeah,
- 10:19Speaker0: so we've got Miami Vice '85 coming out,
- 10:23Speaker0: and, uh, you've got Mike teaming
- 10:28Speaker0: up, and I think that's like such a big deal.
- 10:31Speaker0: Um, I feel like this is going to be a box office hit,
- 10:36Speaker0: like it's gonna— it might even shatter records.
- 10:39Speaker1: Yeah.
- 10:39Speaker0: Like,
- 10:39Speaker0: and I think the casting is definitely a yeah,
- 10:43Speaker0: buddy from my perspective because you're, you're joining
- 10:46Speaker0: these 2 forces. Michael B. Jordan just winning an Oscar
- 10:51Speaker0: is huge, right? And so he's got all the momentum in the world
- 10:55Speaker0: to carry him through. And, you know, this is going to be action-packed.
- 11:00Speaker0: I hear it's going to be filmed in IMAX. So having
- 11:04Speaker0: that, we don't even know what the budget is, but we can
- 11:08Speaker0: expect like this budget's gonna be huge. And so I think
- 11:13Speaker0: those 2 main actors, it's gonna be really interesting to follow this film
- 11:17Speaker0: throughout, uh, because it's also set in the '80s, which I
- 11:20Speaker0: don't know about you, but I really like the '80s as a decade.
- 11:24Speaker0: So I think this is like a perfect movie.
- 11:27Speaker1: No, no, period pieces
- 11:28Speaker1: are, are, are good. '80s, any, any movie that takes place in the '80s,
- 11:32Speaker1: is always a good movie. Um, I'm writing down right now the,
- 11:37Speaker1: the cast right now. So you have, uh, so far, so yeah, Michael B.
- 11:40Speaker1: Jordan of course as Ricardo Tubbs, Austin Butler as Crockett,
- 11:44Speaker1: um, John Leguizamo, I believe he was cast as the
- 11:48Speaker1: villain in the movie. And then you got Camila Morrone,
- 11:52Speaker1: uh, Alden Ehrenreich, I hope I pronounced that right,
- 11:56Speaker1: uh, Danny Ramirez, and then Whitney Peakin. And they recently just announced,
- 12:00Speaker1: uh, the latest cast member was Andrew Schultz.
- 12:03Speaker0: Nice.
- 12:03Speaker1: So that's— yeah,
- 12:05Speaker1: you have a lot of heat there until you get to, uh, Andrew Schultz.
- 12:08Speaker1: Does, does that casting kind of, um, does him adding to the cast— I
- 12:12Speaker1: mean, of course he deserved it, but does that kind of, uh, throw it off
- 12:15Speaker1: when you see these, these actors?
- 12:17Speaker0: Yeah, I think so.
- 12:18Speaker0: I think there could have been maybe a few other options, and maybe,
- 12:22Speaker0: who knows, maybe they're gonna add to it a little bit. And that's what's going
- 12:25Speaker0: to be fun to like follow this because as you know, people can drop out,
- 12:29Speaker0: stuff can happen.
- 12:31Speaker1: No, but Andy Schultz is
- 12:33Speaker1: going to do it. Yeah, for sure.
- 12:38Speaker1: But, um, that's it. So Miami Vice '85,
- 12:43Speaker1: it's another reboot. How would you—
- 12:48Speaker1: from speaking about how tired
- 12:52Speaker1: we are, like, just, just from what we hear, general consensus from like general public,
- 12:55Speaker1: stuff like that. We said even to our podcast, like, tired of like,
- 12:58Speaker1: um, reboots and same thing and all this type of stuff.
- 13:01Speaker1: But what kind of, um, what kind of separates this?
- 13:06Speaker0: Well, I think for me it's Michael B. Jordan because
- 13:09Speaker0: he's an actor that I really enjoy watching, and so
- 13:13Speaker0: he's gonna bring a new style To it and
- 13:18Speaker0: it's gonna be different from the original. And I think it
- 13:22Speaker0: started as like a TV show.
- 13:24Speaker1: Yeah.
- 13:24Speaker0: If I'm not mistaken.
- 13:25Speaker1: Yeah.
- 13:26Speaker0: It's kind of before my time, to be honest. So I didn't grow up with
- 13:30Speaker0: Miami Vice.
- 13:30Speaker1: Okay.
- 13:31Speaker0: Um, but I'm familiar with
- 13:34Speaker0: kind of what—
- 13:34Speaker1: But we had the one with, um, Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell.
- 13:38Speaker0: That's true. Yeah, actually, I totally forgot about that. I don't know how I forgot
- 13:42Speaker0: about that.
- 13:45Speaker1: Because have you seen the movie?
- 13:48Speaker0: If I
- 13:49Speaker0: did, it was—
- 13:51Speaker1: I don't remember it. That was a joke.
- 13:52Speaker1: That was a joke. That's why you say you don't remember it, because— but
- 13:57Speaker1: Jamie Foxx, I think that was right after he did that, followed right after Ray.
- 14:00Speaker0: But, um, got it, got it. But no, and I do like Austin
- 14:04Speaker0: Butler as an actor. I don't— I think he's got an interesting style
- 14:08Speaker0: too. And so pairing them both up Together,
- 14:12Speaker0: I wonder what their chemistry is going to be like on screen. Like, are they
- 14:17Speaker0: going to be funny? Are they going to be super serious? Like, I wonder how
- 14:20Speaker0: they're going to play this.
- 14:21Speaker1: No, I don't think this is going to be a
- 14:23Speaker1: comedy, right? So this definitely will be action.
- 14:26Speaker1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Action, thriller, drama, all that type of stuff. All the sexiness that
- 14:30Speaker1: you get from Miami in the '80s— the sex, the drugs, all that type of
- 14:34Speaker1: stuff.
- 14:33Speaker0: I just wonder if there's going to be a little bit of humor,
- 14:36Speaker0: you know, incorporated in it.
- 14:38Speaker1: Oh, of course they have to, they have to.
- 14:40Speaker1: That's just how movies work and stuff like that. You gotta level it out.
- 14:42Speaker1: But, um, it's not gonna be a comedy. Of course not, of course not.
- 14:46Speaker1: Um, so yeah, we'll get— we'll give Miami Vice a yeah buddy right now.
- 14:51Speaker1: Even with the Andrew Schultz casting and stuff like that, he's probably— of course he's
- 14:54Speaker1: the comedic effect when he just says—
- 14:55Speaker0: That's true.
- 14:56Speaker1: He just— that, that's,
- 14:58Speaker1: that's where the comedy is. Andrew Schultz is the, the comedy.
- 15:01Speaker1: Um, so then in other, other not so
- 15:06Speaker1: related news, but in other Uh, movie news, uh,
- 15:09Speaker1: and, you know, franchises failing before they even get off
- 15:13Speaker1: the ground. Uh, the new feature film,
- 15:16Speaker1: uh, Children of Bone— Children of Blood and Bone,
- 15:21Speaker1: uh, it's a novel, uh, that was adapted into a movie,
- 15:25Speaker1: and it's getting ready to get the whole run. They already filmed it, all this
- 15:28Speaker1: type of stuff, and they're getting ready, you know, do the whole release for
- 15:33Speaker1: it, all the press run and stuff like that.
- 15:34Speaker0: Yeah.
- 15:34Speaker1: But they ran into a
- 15:35Speaker1: little bit of a hurdle with the director. No, not the director,
- 15:38Speaker1: the writer.
- 15:44Speaker1: Um, turned out she said it wasn't true to her vision.
- 15:48Speaker0: Oh wow.
- 15:48Speaker1: Uh, but we understand how this stuff works as far
- 15:52Speaker1: as like, um, you know, movie industry, movie business,
- 15:55Speaker1: stuff like that. Um,
- 16:00Speaker1: once you sign your stuff away, man, once you sign on that dotted
- 16:04Speaker1: line, it's somebody else's issue. It may be your book,
- 16:06Speaker1: But just because it's your book doesn't mean it's your movie necessarily.
- 16:11Speaker1: Right.
- 16:11Speaker0: And they can change stuff that you no longer have those creative
- 16:15Speaker0: freedoms anymore because they're going to take whatever you wrote and they're going to spin
- 16:19Speaker0: it or do whatever they want to do in that movie. So they have now
- 16:23Speaker0: the control and that's why essentially you're getting bought out, right? In a sense,
- 16:27Speaker0: they have the rights like you did.
- 16:29Speaker1: Yeah. And so in a situation like
- 16:31Speaker1: this, because this is her first Um, and the author's
- 16:35Speaker1: name is— I hope I don't butcher her last name, but it's, uh, Tomi Adeyemi.
- 16:40Speaker1: Um, and this is her first time having some of her, her literature
- 16:44Speaker1: turned into a movie. So when you hear this,
- 16:47Speaker1: we always hear crazy things, corruption going on with studios and studios
- 16:51Speaker1: tinkering with things. Do you think this is more of a situation with like,
- 16:55Speaker1: um, uh— Shh, shh, shh, shh.
- 17:00Speaker1: Um, studios, you know, studios playing,
- 17:04Speaker1: you know, doing foul play, like lying to her? Or do you
- 17:08Speaker1: think this is just a case of, uh, not knowing what she's really getting into?
- 17:11Speaker0: I don't— I think it's the latter. I think it's not knowing what you're getting
- 17:15Speaker0: into, especially if you're new to this. Like, it's easy to get
- 17:19Speaker0: taken advantage of, right? More so. So I think it's kind
- 17:23Speaker0: of educating yourself on not selling out. Maybe, you know,
- 17:27Speaker0: hiring a legal team, uh, get people around
- 17:31Speaker0: you before you kind of sign that dotted line.
- 17:35Speaker1: Yeah, because it's actually a pretty stacked cast. I'll just go through right now
- 17:38Speaker1: the cast that they have, um, attached to it.
- 17:42Speaker1: Uh, you know, we just did yourself,
- 17:45Speaker1: everybody knows Idris Elba, Viola Davis, Regina King,
- 17:48Speaker1: Domhnall Idris, Cynthia Erivo,
- 17:51Speaker1: Uh, Amandla Stenberg, a whole bunch of,
- 17:55Speaker1: uh, A-list cast of, uh, uh, Black actors,
- 17:58Speaker1: just actors in general.
- 17:59Speaker0: Is Regina King—
- 18:00Speaker1: Yeah, yeah. And so,
- 18:03Speaker1: um, so I know, yeah, I kind of— it's unfortunate for this
- 18:07Speaker1: to happen to somebody, um, uh, a, a Black woman,
- 18:10Speaker1: you know, to have this sort of experience and kind of,
- 18:15Speaker1: you know, have it kind of play out like that and stuff all like that.
- 18:18Speaker1: But you gotta kind of look at the opposite end too. Like, I mean,
- 18:22Speaker1: the lady who wrote The Matrix was Black and she ain't get no fucking credit.
- 18:26Speaker0: That's so crazy. That's crazy to me.
- 18:28Speaker1: Oh, Chomsky just snatched that motherfucker up.
- 18:31Speaker1: So, um, so, um, hopefully she'll get another,
- 18:35Speaker1: um, opportunity if she wants it, you know what I'm saying? Hopefully she does
- 18:39Speaker1: it, uh, or eventually down the road she'll kind of,
- 18:42Speaker1: um, you know, feel different about it, you know? And hopefully the movie doesn't
- 18:46Speaker1: suck, you know what I mean?
- 18:47Speaker0: So Well, hopefully they can use this success to
- 18:50Speaker0: build toward the future too.
- 18:52Speaker1: Right. But we'll see if it's a success. It hasn't
- 18:54Speaker1: came out yet, so it may be a flop.
- 18:56Speaker0: Well, but you've got a star-studded
- 18:58Speaker0: cast. I mean, Viola Davis, I mean, how can you go wrong with that?
- 19:02Speaker0: For me, personally.
- 19:03Speaker1: You never know. You never know. It just depends. It just depends.
- 19:05Speaker1: It depends on how they decide to market the movie. It depends on how Paramount
- 19:09Speaker1: decides to market the whole movie. They could just say, that's true. They could just
- 19:12Speaker1: be like, we don't wanna deal with this drama and watch the whole entire thing.
- 19:15Speaker1: We see that play. How many movies do we see where it's like A-list cast
- 19:19Speaker1: but it just bombs? It's just—
- 19:20Speaker0: It happens.
- 19:20Speaker1: What about that Babylon movie?
- 19:22Speaker1: Oh yeah, I remember that. Nobody remember that damn
- 19:26Speaker1: movie?
- 19:26Speaker0: I don't.
- 19:27Speaker1: But so,
- 19:30Speaker1: um, so unfortunately with this drama going on, I have to give this—
- 19:34Speaker1: the drama, I have to give a no-budget. But when it comes out, I'm definitely
- 19:38Speaker1: going to give it a shot too. Well, damn, I don't even know if I
- 19:41Speaker1: should or not. Damn.
- 19:42Speaker0: I think I— well, I'm thinking I might.
- 19:47Speaker1: I'll get the book and, and get the movie too. I'll do both.
- 19:51Speaker0: I just like a lot of the actors, so I don't know how I could
- 19:54Speaker0: not want to see it.
- 19:56Speaker1: For me, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 19:57Speaker1: yeah.
- 19:58Speaker0: So I mean, the drama— like, if somebody tells
- 20:01Speaker0: me not to do something, I'm probably gonna be more apt to
- 20:05Speaker0: like want to, you know?
- 20:08Speaker1: Yep. So yeah, I'm, uh,
- 20:10Speaker1: unfortunately with that, I'm gonna have to give it a no button. All right,
- 20:14Speaker1: but, um, and, and other— there's a whole bunch of movie news, whole bunch of
- 20:17Speaker1: movie news, whole bunch of movie news. Um, Spider-Man: A Brand New Day, even though
- 20:21Speaker1: it's been in theaters since I don't know how long, it is about to go
- 20:25Speaker1: on to digital platforms, right? But they
- 20:29Speaker1: just announced that they're about to re-release Spider-Man: A Brand New Day,
- 20:36Speaker1: um, whatever that may mean or whatever
- 20:40Speaker1: that may entail. I don't think it has anything to do with Doomsday.
- 20:42Speaker0: No.
- 20:42Speaker1: Right. It just adds more to the story of what happened in, you know,
- 20:45Speaker1: Spider-Man: A Brand New Day.
- 20:46Speaker0: I wonder if it's going to be a director's cut
- 20:49Speaker0: because a lot of those tend to be longer.
- 20:52Speaker0: And so I wonder if that's kind of like— because
- 20:56Speaker0: I do like those bonus features, like when you— I don't know if you've watched
- 21:00Speaker0: them, like director's commentary. Yeah, yeah, stuff like that. I actually learn
- 21:03Speaker0: a lot more from those instances, like when I'm watching movies,
- 21:08Speaker0: like I don't know how many people do this, but actually listen to the director's
- 21:13Speaker0: commentary. I feel like you can learn from that. What do you think?
- 21:17Speaker1: Yeah, no, I just— well, yeah, of course you can do that, but I'm just
- 21:19Speaker1: talking about in terms of like what they're doing with Spider-Man: Brand New Day,
- 21:22Speaker1: like re-releasing it with like extra footage. I think that's just a play to
- 21:26Speaker1: get, um, more money. It's just more money.
- 21:30Speaker1: It's just more money. They just— because it's at like, I think it's at like
- 21:34Speaker1: $950 million right now. They're just trying to
- 21:38Speaker1: re-release it so they can hit $1 billion. They want, they want the record for
- 21:42Speaker1: being the first movie ever to cross $1 billion domestically.
- 21:46Speaker0: You're right.
- 21:47Speaker1: That's all it is.
- 21:47Speaker0: That's right. Yeah, that's right.
- 21:50Speaker0: I'm thinking in my like artistic—
- 21:52Speaker1: No, man,
- 21:53Speaker1: no, this is the money. It's just the money ploy. They don't
- 21:57Speaker1: give a damn. Even with, um, the Avengers Encore. We'll get into
- 22:01Speaker1: that soon. We're gonna get to Avengers: Endgame Encore in a second. Uh, that's it,
- 22:06Speaker1: part of the next segment. But that's the same thing that when they just released
- 22:09Speaker1: Avengers Encore, they was like, bro, this, this is just a money play. We just
- 22:12Speaker1: trying to get a little extra money before doomsday come around. We just trying,
- 22:15Speaker1: we just trying to melt— they just melted this cow.
- 22:16Speaker0: That is definitely true.
- 22:18Speaker0: Absolutely.
- 22:20Speaker1: Mm-hmm. Okay, cool,
- 22:22Speaker1: cool, cool, cool, cool. So for Spider-Man: Brand New Day,
- 22:27Speaker1: I'm not mad at it. I'll be like, if, if they,
- 22:31Speaker1: if they're, if they're this close to a billion dollars and they say, you know
- 22:33Speaker1: what, fuck it, man, let's just go for it, you know, because people are gonna
- 22:36Speaker1: do it anyways, right? People like, you know what I'm saying, even, even if there
- 22:40Speaker1: was no extra footage in, they would just say, you know what, here you go.
- 22:44Speaker1: People go, yeah, no. So for purpose of saying that, we make it— Zendaya's
- 22:48Speaker1: got, you know, a billion dollars. So anything Zendaya we
- 22:52Speaker1: support. So yeah, if they re-release Spider-Man:
- 22:56Speaker1: Beyond the Day, cost a billion dollars, I say yeah buddy for me. I'll give
- 22:59Speaker1: that a yeah buddy.
- 23:01Speaker0: Yeah buddy. I, I would say yeah buddy as well.
- 23:03Speaker1: Okay, cool, cool, cool. Perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect.
- 23:06Speaker1: So right now, after that, see what we
- 23:10Speaker1: got next. Oh, so they just had more leaks
- 23:14Speaker1: with, um, Avengers: Doomday because we was talking about Avengers,
- 23:18Speaker1: um, Endgame Encore. So with Avengers: Endgame,
- 23:22Speaker1: what happened was is they, um,
- 23:26Speaker1: re-released it to the theaters and then they have 4 bonus
- 23:30Speaker1: mid-credit scenes that's supposed to lead up to, you know,
- 23:34Speaker1: Avengers: Doomsday and all this type of jazz and stuff like
- 23:37Speaker1: that. But they all got leaked, all the scenes, the 4 scenes.
- 23:40Speaker0: It's crazy.
- 23:41Speaker1: Got leaked and stuff all like that. So, um, it was pretty interesting.
- 23:45Speaker1: I It's going long enough, so I think,
- 23:48Speaker1: um, we'll just give a gist of what happened and stuff like that. So one
- 23:51Speaker1: of the scenes, which I think is probably the, the coolest one, is,
- 23:55Speaker1: uh, they had,
- 23:57Speaker1: um, Bruce Banner. They showed what happened to him following the events
- 24:01Speaker1: of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He's in a bunker doing, you know,
- 24:05Speaker1: science work on himself or whatever, and then all of a sudden Doctor Doom kind
- 24:08Speaker1: of appears off screen and takes Bruce Banner. to wherever he takes him.
- 24:13Speaker1: Um, and then the second one, it was— oh, it was a continuation
- 24:17Speaker1: of like, you know, how Endgame ended where Steve is dancing with Peggy or whatever,
- 24:21Speaker1: and then all of a sudden Loki comes in and he's like, I'm here to
- 24:25Speaker1: save you all. Then another one was the TVA was seeing all the multiverses
- 24:29Speaker1: and all the worlds started to collide together. And then, uh, the last one was
- 24:33Speaker1: just, um, it was just, you know, uh, Doctor Doom just banging away and like
- 24:37Speaker1: creating like It was a recreation of— they was reenacting the, uh, the first
- 24:41Speaker1: Iron Man scene where Iron Man was breaking his helmet. And it ended up this
- 24:44Speaker1: time instead of the Iron Man helmet, it was, uh, Doctor Doom's helmet or whatever.
- 24:47Speaker0: And didn't they leak some of the cast too? Like in terms of,
- 24:51Speaker0: uh—
- 24:52Speaker1: Well, they didn't leak the cast. They announced the cast. The cast was
- 24:55Speaker1: never— the cast announcements were never leaked. That was just something that they announced or
- 24:59Speaker1: whatever. But I mean, as far as leaking, like those mid-credit scenes are supposed to—
- 25:03Speaker1: supposedly supposed to be something for, um, that you go to the movie theaters to
- 25:07Speaker1: see or whatever. But, you know, of course it just ends up right on the,
- 25:10Speaker1: you know, the internet. They have had a lot of leaks as far as,
- 25:13Speaker1: um, even before they had released the trailer,
- 25:17Speaker1: you know, there was, um, AI recreated versions of the
- 25:21Speaker1: trailer.
- 25:21Speaker0: Oh, right. I've been seeing a lot of that lately. Yeah, on YouTube.
- 25:24Speaker0: Yeah, like people actually think that they're the trailers
- 25:29Speaker0: for movies. And, and like even a friend of mine
- 25:32Speaker0: was saying, sent me the trailer, and I, I told him,
- 25:37Speaker0: this is not a real movie trailer. Like, this is all AI. And so
- 25:41Speaker0: I also wonder, like, with what industry this
- 25:46Speaker0: could keep affecting.
- 25:48Speaker1: But the thing is,
- 25:49Speaker1: is that even though these are AI-recreated things,
- 25:54Speaker1: they're AI-recreated things from actual footage from
- 25:58Speaker1: Doomsday. That's what— that's the, that's the thing about it though.
- 26:02Speaker1: That's where, you know, even though you could look at the, the trailer, you could
- 26:06Speaker1: look at this AI video and be like, oh well, of course, yeah, this is
- 26:08Speaker1: an AI video, but it's an AI video of actual footage
- 26:13Speaker1: from Doomsday. And because it's an AI thing, you can't take
- 26:17Speaker1: it down, or they can't call, you know, copyright infringement or whatever. It's like,
- 26:20Speaker1: no, this is just AI.
- 26:21Speaker0: That's crazy.
- 26:23Speaker1: Yeah.
- 26:25Speaker0: It's blowing my mind right now.
- 26:26Speaker1: Yeah, that's crazy,
- 26:28Speaker1: man. That's like— so like, because somebody
- 26:32Speaker1: had did like, uh, like an AI recreated version
- 26:36Speaker1: of the trailer that they had just released for like, um, like,
- 26:39Speaker1: like D23, their expo or whatever, stuff like that. They had released the exclusive like,
- 26:43Speaker1: you know, Doom thing trailer, but there was an
- 26:47Speaker1: AI trailer floating around recreate the
- 26:51Speaker1: exact same trailer that it was, but, you know, months ago, months back. So they've
- 26:55Speaker1: been facing a lot, a lot, a lot of leaks in general.
- 26:59Speaker0: And makes me wonder why. Why do you think all this is happening,
- 27:02Speaker0: buddy? Like, from your perspective, why do you think these leaks are happening?
- 27:06Speaker0: Do you think it's just—
- 27:09Speaker1: No, I think it has to do
- 27:10Speaker1: with the fact that, one, I don't think Marvel cares because they
- 27:14Speaker1: don't— the more leaks that happen the less they have to worry
- 27:18Speaker1: about actually putting money towards like advertising and marketing, you know, trailers and stuff
- 27:22Speaker1: like that. Because all the, the leaks that they put out there or whatever,
- 27:26Speaker1: it just kind of leads people to asking themselves questions like, is this real or
- 27:29Speaker1: is this not real, right? Well, let me just go to the movie to see
- 27:31Speaker1: if it is real or not or whatever. Or even from the standpoint of
- 27:36Speaker1: Marvel fired a lot of people, you know, it could be just some pissed-off employees
- 27:40Speaker1: that just got like on the way out, just like, man, let me just give
- 27:42Speaker1: you a big middle finger. On the way out. And let me just give
- 27:46Speaker1: this exclusive information to some, to some YouTuber friend of mine,
- 27:50Speaker1: you know what I mean?
- 27:50Speaker0: Right.
- 27:50Speaker1: Like, yo, here, here it is, you know?
- 27:52Speaker1: Like, I honestly would not be surprised to see, um,
- 27:56Speaker1: Avengers: Doomsday leak, like, even like this weekend. I wouldn't be
- 28:00Speaker1: surprised. No, I wouldn't be surprised to see the movie, like the actual movie Doomsday.
- 28:04Speaker1: I would not be surprised if it leaks like that
- 28:08Speaker1: weekend, you know what I'm saying? Like somebody just, somebody just uploaded it because they
- 28:12Speaker1: did that to The Odyssey. They did that to,
- 28:15Speaker1: um, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. But, you know, with all the stuff that's going on
- 28:19Speaker1: with, you know, Marvel Avengers, with them firing all these employees
- 28:23Speaker1: and, and, you know, all this, you know, corporate restructuring and stuff like
- 28:28Speaker1: that. Yeah, I would not be surprised if by the time, um, um, Avengers: Doom
- 28:31Speaker1: Days comes around that that whole movie been leaked.
- 28:36Speaker0: That would be insane.
- 28:37Speaker1: But it would still gross a billion dollars
- 28:40Speaker1: either way. It's still gonna gross over a billion dollars. It don't even matter.
- 28:44Speaker1: But, um, to the leaks, for the leaks, you know what? I'm not mad at
- 28:47Speaker1: the leaks. I'm not mad at the leaks. Keep the leaks coming. Keep them coming.
- 28:51Speaker1: You know what I'm saying? So leaks get an yeah, buddy from me.
- 28:52Speaker0: For me,
- 28:53Speaker0: it's a no, buddy.
- 28:53Speaker1: That's all right. No worries.
- 28:55Speaker0: I'm so sorry.
- 28:55Speaker1: I don't want
- 28:56Speaker1: to disagree with you there.
- 28:57Speaker0: I feel like with the way it got, like,
- 28:59Speaker0: I feel like I would prefer it to be a surprise.
- 29:02Speaker0: Like, you know, like, you don't have
- 29:06Speaker0: to watch the leaks.
- 29:07Speaker1: You don't have to watch leaks, but I'm all for it.
- 29:09Speaker1: Like, let's just say if this is some disgruntled employee who was just pissed off
- 29:13Speaker1: about how they treated him and stuff like that. It's like, you know what,
- 29:17Speaker1: you know what I'm saying? Then yeah, I'm all for it. Or like I said,
- 29:20Speaker1: at the end of the day, maybe they just— they don't care that it's being
- 29:22Speaker1: leaked because it just saves money in their pockets because they're like, y'all are
- 29:26Speaker1: doing the marketing and advertising for us.
- 29:28Speaker0: It could be a strategy.
- 29:29Speaker1: Could be a
- 29:30Speaker1: strategy. Yeah, could be a strategy.
- 29:31Speaker0: That's interesting, buddy.
- 29:33Speaker1: So we'll
- 29:35Speaker1: go ahead and do that. So, uh, before we get to the next section of,
- 29:37Speaker1: you know, movies and stuff like that, you know, of course we gotta, uh,
- 29:39Speaker1: promote our own movies going on right now. Of course, we have Almost 30
- 29:43Speaker1: right now. It's still streaming, uh, on Stash TV,
- 29:47Speaker1: on Relay, and on Fossil TV. You catch it right there.
- 29:51Speaker1: This is— oh, this is good. This is about— this is like the end of
- 29:54Speaker1: the movie and stuff like that. I'm about to get into like a, a big
- 29:56Speaker1: old argument and shit like that. So, uh, before we get— before y'all see what
- 30:00Speaker1: happens at the end of the movie and stuff like that, um, y'all go ahead
- 30:03Speaker1: and watch it on Fossil TV, Stash TV,
- 30:07Speaker1: Relay TV. Of course you go to my YouTube channel to watch it. Of course
- 30:10Speaker1: you go to www.yeahbuddyent.com to watch
- 30:14Speaker1: it. That's Almost 30, short film I directed, co-produced with
- 30:18Speaker1: my good friend Roy Ellis. Uh, we got lots of— oh, and my good guy
- 30:21Speaker1: Lionel Gardner. Rest in peace to Lionel, you know what I'm saying? All day,
- 30:24Speaker1: every day. Uh, so on to the next segment right now,
- 30:27Speaker1: y'all. This is a, a new game that we have brought to the,
- 30:31Speaker1: to the, uh Yeah, Buddy Podcast and stuff like
- 30:35Speaker1: that. This is called the Box Office or Bomb, and this
- 30:40Speaker1: is basically where we break down what happened with the box office this past weekend,
- 30:43Speaker1: you know, see who— what our predictions were, see what our prediction is going
- 30:46Speaker1: to be like for this next upcoming weekend. And Brandon, man,
- 30:49Speaker1: Brandon right now, he's 2-0 right now.
- 30:55Speaker1: So, uh, so last week Uh,
- 30:59Speaker1: we broke down the movie Primetime. That was the, the big, big new release.
- 31:03Speaker0: Yes.
- 31:04Speaker1: Um, Avengers: Endgame, I didn't, I didn't consider that a new release.
- 31:07Speaker1: That was just a re-release.
- 31:07Speaker0: It was a re-release.
- 31:08Speaker1: It was still number 1.
- 31:10Speaker0: And it made $26 million, so that topped it. And then
- 31:14Speaker0: we had Resident Evil next at $23.3 million.
- 31:18Speaker0: Then you had Heart of the Beast, uh, starring Brad Pitt,
- 31:22Speaker0: that took down $20 million. That's a new release. And then Prime Time
- 31:26Speaker0: we were talking about, uh, was $19.2
- 31:30Speaker0: million.
- 31:30Speaker1: And that could have been at number 4 or 3. 4.
- 31:32Speaker0: 4. And then
- 31:34Speaker0: Forgotten Island at 5,
- 31:36Speaker0: $12.8 million. And that's a new one.
- 31:39Speaker1: Yeah. So that's,
- 31:41Speaker1: um, as far as the, as far as like predicting the box office,
- 31:45Speaker1: you were spot on with that. Um, but I'm not, we're not gonna necessarily,
- 31:48Speaker1: you know, we talk about like if it's a box office hit, where, as long
- 31:51Speaker1: as the, the number's right or whatever, but what qualifies as
- 31:56Speaker1: a box office hit, of course, is what it makes compared to the budget that
- 31:59Speaker1: actually—
- 31:59Speaker0: Exactly.
- 32:00Speaker1: Make and stuff like that.
- 32:01Speaker0: I think that's a big thing to consider
- 32:03Speaker0: because Prime Time basically made all its money back in the first
- 32:07Speaker0: weekend. So that is—
- 32:09Speaker1: And more. And more.
- 32:11Speaker0: Yeah.
- 32:11Speaker1: And more. 'Cause it only costs $15 million to produce,
- 32:14Speaker1: uh, probably make it probably about another $10 million to, you know, market and
- 32:18Speaker1: advertise. But, um, but to make back its initial budget
- 32:22Speaker1: for the production alone, you know, by Sunday
- 32:25Speaker1: afternoon, Sunday night, that, that's, that's a win there. You can't be mad at
- 32:29Speaker1: that.
- 32:29Speaker0: But Kendrick was also right too when he was talking about Robert Pattinson's star
- 32:33Speaker0: power.
- 32:33Speaker1: Yeah.
- 32:34Speaker0: Like that. I feel like he was absolutely spot on with that
- 32:37Speaker0: argument because that was totally true that Robert Pattinson is,
- 32:42Speaker0: seems to be the guy. Mm-hmm. So if you wanna make money, hire him and
- 32:47Speaker0: you'll make money. It seems like, yeah.
- 32:48Speaker1: I mean, people, the problem is, is,
- 32:50Speaker1: I mean, people, I mean, Twilight, we under— we underestimate Twilight.
- 32:53Speaker0: Twilight.
- 32:54Speaker1: We have the Earth to make the power of Twilight go
- 32:58Speaker1: crazy, man. Yeah, Twilight go crazy. Shit.
- 33:02Speaker1: Um, so this upcoming weekend for the box
- 33:05Speaker1: office, we have the new— there's a couple ones, but the one we're going to
- 33:09Speaker1: focus on, um, this week is Digger with,
- 33:12Speaker1: um, Tom Cruise. Uh, this is like— I believe this is like his first movie
- 33:17Speaker1: that you'll see him in since he's done Ethan Hunt as, um, and Mission:
- 33:21Speaker1: Impossible, right? So this will be, um, it's interesting because this
- 33:25Speaker1: is where we're starting to get down to the, the winding down of the whole
- 33:30Speaker1: like summer box office season. So you're not gonna get like, you're not getting like
- 33:33Speaker1: super box office hits, like, you know, things like $100 million range, but you're also
- 33:37Speaker1: not getting a whole bunch of like stinkers because there's still movies that you're trying
- 33:41Speaker1: to get like possibly in for like award season consideration.
- 33:44Speaker0: That's what I
- 33:45Speaker0: think this is.
- 33:46Speaker1: That's what this is. That's what I think with Primetime as well.
- 33:49Speaker0: So I agree. Yeah, because there's going to be Oscar buzz.
- 33:52Speaker0: Like, they're already talking about Tom Cruise and that this is such
- 33:56Speaker0: a different role than what he's played. Like, he looks completely different.
- 34:00Speaker0: I don't know if you've seen the pictures of him, but he looks like this
- 34:03Speaker0: old guy, and it's— it seems really like a weird movie.
- 34:07Speaker1: Yeah.
- 34:07Speaker0: Got John Goodman in it. There's a lot of good actors in
- 34:11Speaker0: this movie. Um, and, and so I think it, it could
- 34:15Speaker0: be interesting, but I wonder what your take is. Do you think this
- 34:18Speaker0: is going to be A box office hit or a bomb?
- 34:22Speaker1: Um, I honestly, I don't—
- 34:25Speaker1: I haven't really been following it too much. I don't really see him. I don't
- 34:29Speaker1: really see— if I, if I was to base this based off of
- 34:32Speaker1: Tom Cruise's box office history, if it's not Mission: Impossible,
- 34:37Speaker1: um, outside of Top Gun: Maverick,
- 34:42Speaker1: you know, his box office is not really like— he's a movie star But
- 34:46Speaker1: its box office isn't really what it, what it has been in the past or
- 34:49Speaker1: whatever. Um, and because like I said, I see this as being more so like
- 34:53Speaker1: maybe something they'll try to push for awards season.
- 34:56Speaker1: I see it being, um,
- 35:03Speaker1: I see it debuting at number 1.
- 35:04Speaker0: Mm-hmm.
- 35:05Speaker1: But I see it possibly doing
- 35:07Speaker1: like, uh,
- 35:10Speaker1: $25 million.
- 35:11Speaker0: All right, so let me kind of give this bit of
- 35:14Speaker0: information. Variety reports the budget of this movie was $130
- 35:19Speaker0: million. So if you produce this movie— and
- 35:22Speaker0: so, well, I, I've got to say Tom Cruise
- 35:26Speaker0: had something to do with it because he's such a big producer
- 35:31Speaker0: name. Uh, Warner Brothers.
- 35:33Speaker1: That's what I thought.
- 35:34Speaker1: Yeah. Oh yeah, see, this is— this— yeah, this is what they're doing. This is
- 35:37Speaker1: right around When did they— when did, um, when did One Battle After
- 35:41Speaker1: Another release? Yeah, it was
- 35:46Speaker1: right about now, right? So this might be it.
- 35:48Speaker0: I think, yeah, that might be
- 35:49Speaker0: what it is. I think that's what it is. I think it's the Oscar push.
- 35:54Speaker1: Yeah, and it's right around— and it's budget-wise,
- 35:56Speaker1: it's about the same budget that One Battle After Another was.
- 36:01Speaker1: So, um, oh yeah, I think that's what this is. They're probably pushing this,
- 36:05Speaker1: but so they're not really tripping off of it. make it a budget, you know
- 36:08Speaker1: what I'm saying? Like, this works for Oscars. But on the flip side to this,
- 36:12Speaker1: Warner Brothers doesn't have— like, they didn't have the hits they had this
- 36:16Speaker1: year like they had last year, like with The Sinners and Minecraft and
- 36:20Speaker1: all that stuff. So, you know, taking that box office hit, man, I mean,
- 36:23Speaker1: they better get that Oscar shit.
- 36:25Speaker0: So, so are you leaning towards bomb,
- 36:28Speaker0: buddy, or—
- 36:28Speaker1: I think it's gonna be— I think it's gonna be a bomb.
- 36:31Speaker1: I think— yeah, I think, I think, I think it's probably about like $20,
- 36:33Speaker1: $25 million range. I think $25 million, probably right in line
- 36:38Speaker1: with, um, what One Battle After Another debuted to.
- 36:40Speaker0: I, I think I
- 36:41Speaker0: agree with that. I might even go a little slightly lower.
- 36:44Speaker0: So you said how much?
- 36:46Speaker1: $25 million.
- 36:46Speaker0: $25 million. I'm gonna go with lower.
- 36:49Speaker0: I'm gonna go $22 million.
- 36:52Speaker1: Okay.
- 36:53Speaker0: So you're at $25 million and I'm at $22 million.
- 36:56Speaker1: Yep,
- 36:56Speaker1: yep.
- 36:56Speaker0: The first weekend.
- 36:57Speaker1: We'll see how that goes and stuff.
- 36:58Speaker0: Yep. Right.
- 36:59Speaker1: So that
- 37:00Speaker1: was interesting.
- 37:01Speaker0: Yep.
- 37:02Speaker1: Show, show.
- 37:03Speaker1: Interesting, interesting, interesting. So yeah, that was the box office
- 37:07Speaker1: or bomb. And so right now what we getting into is, uh,
- 37:11Speaker1: shoot, I think this is everybody's favorite part of the show, man. This is,
- 37:14Speaker1: this is the, the, the game that we've been liking and loving and we've been,
- 37:17Speaker1: been doing it for a minute now. Uh, this is what we call the Mount
- 37:21Speaker1: Rushmore, um, game where we,
- 37:25Speaker1: uh, It's our own reinvention of Keep
- 37:29Speaker1: 4, Cut 4. We just come up with our own categories and choices,
- 37:32Speaker1: and we gotta cut those choices down to where we find our own
- 37:36Speaker1: final 4 of our Mount Rushmore. So right now
- 37:39Speaker1: we are going to get into the Mount Rushmore game right now.
- 37:43Speaker1: Uh, I'll go ahead and, uh, I'll kick it off right now.
- 37:45Speaker0: All right.
- 37:46Speaker1: Stuff all like that. So, uh, we got a couple of, couple of
- 37:50Speaker1: subjects right now. Um, Right now, what we will do right here,
- 37:53Speaker1: this is Mount Rushmore of Michael
- 37:57Speaker1: Bay directed films.
- 37:59Speaker0: Okay, I'm looking forward to this.
- 38:01Speaker1: This would be cool. So, uh,
- 38:05Speaker1: first one, uh, see if you want to put on your Mount Rushmore or not.
- 38:08Speaker1: We have Transformers, the first one.
- 38:13Speaker0: That is a good one. I'm— I gotta— I gotta keep
- 38:17Speaker0: this one. Buddy, I don't think I can cut this one, so I'm gonna keep
- 38:21Speaker0: it.
- 38:21Speaker1: Okay.
- 38:22Speaker0: Yeah.
- 38:22Speaker1: So you're gonna put Transformers up on your Mount
- 38:24Speaker1: Rushmore?
- 38:24Speaker0: Yeah, I'm gonna keep this.
- 38:26Speaker1: Okay.
- 38:28Speaker1: Uh, next one up we have is Bad Boys.
- 38:35Speaker0: Um, man, I don't think I could cut this,
- 38:39Speaker0: so I'm gonna keep it.
- 38:40Speaker1: Okay.
- 38:40Speaker0: Yeah, I'm gonna keep this.
- 38:42Speaker1: Okay. All right, uh, next one up we have
- 38:46Speaker1: is Pearl Harbor.
- 38:48Speaker0: Cut.
- 38:49Speaker0: We're gonna cut this one.
- 38:51Speaker1: Okay, next one up we have The Rock.
- 38:56Speaker0: Cut.
- 38:56Speaker1: Cut The Rock? They put that out in San Francisco.
- 38:59Speaker0: I gotta cut it.
- 39:00Speaker1: All right, man, Rock is off the Mount Rushmore.
- 39:04Speaker1: All right, next one up. So you got 2 key— you have 2 on
- 39:07Speaker1: your Mount Rushmore and 2 left off, so Next one for your Mount
- 39:12Speaker1: Rushmore, The Island.
- 39:18Speaker0: Hmm, I almost kind of wanted to keep The Rock now.
- 39:22Speaker0: Uh, I'm gonna cut The Island.
- 39:24Speaker1: Okay.
- 39:24Speaker0: Yeah.
- 39:25Speaker1: Uh,
- 39:25Speaker1: next one up is Bad Boys 2.
- 39:27Speaker0: I'm gonna
- 39:29Speaker0: keep Bad Boys 2.
- 39:31Speaker1: Okay. Yeah, so you got 3.
- 39:33Speaker1: So one of these next 2. So next one up we have
- 39:38Speaker1: Pain and Gain.
- 39:40Speaker0: That was a good one.
- 39:42Speaker0: Um, but you say I got 2 left?
- 39:44Speaker1: Yeah, no, yeah, this is one of
- 39:46Speaker1: the 2 that you had left, so you have one more after this.
- 39:48Speaker0: All right,
- 39:49Speaker0: well, I'm gonna risk it and I'm gonna cut it and keep the last
- 39:53Speaker0: one.
- 39:53Speaker1: Okay, so the ones you chose to leave off your Mount Rushmore
- 39:57Speaker1: were Pearl Harbor, The Rock,
- 40:02Speaker1: The Island, and Pain and Gain.
- 40:05Speaker0: Right.
- 40:06Speaker1: And so your Mount Rushmore of Michael Bay-directed
- 40:11Speaker1: films are Transformers, Bad Boys,
- 40:15Speaker1: Bad Boys II, and Armageddon.
- 40:18Speaker0: I'm good
- 40:19Speaker0: with that. I'm honestly happy with that.
- 40:20Speaker1: That's a good one. That's a good one.
- 40:21Speaker0: Yeah, I like— I think I made the right call.
- 40:24Speaker1: That's a good Mount Rushmore.
- 40:25Speaker0: Thank you.
- 40:25Speaker1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:27Speaker0: All right, well, for my
- 40:28Speaker0: Mount Rushmore, I've got Mount Rushmore of sports films.
- 40:32Speaker1: Okay.
- 40:33Speaker0: So the first one we've got to
- 40:35Speaker0: keep or cut on your Mount Rushmore is Jerry Maguire.
- 40:41Speaker1: Cut.
- 40:41Speaker0: All right, the next one, Any Given Sunday.
- 40:45Speaker1: Any Given Sunday, I'll keep Any Given Sunday.
- 40:47Speaker0: Okay, you're gonna keep that.
- 40:48Speaker1: Steve and Willie Beeman.
- 40:50Speaker0: Absolutely.
- 40:51Speaker0: Uh, next one, Key and Cut Game.
- 40:55Speaker1: He got
- 40:55Speaker1: game.
- 40:56Speaker0: Yeah.
- 40:58Speaker1: Oh yeah, he got game to go
- 40:58Speaker1: on Mount Rushmore.
- 41:00Speaker0: All right.
- 41:00Speaker1: He got game on Mount Rushmore.
- 41:02Speaker0: Okay, next one is Air Bud.
- 41:05Speaker1: Air Bud,
- 41:06Speaker1: get the fuck outta here.
- 41:08Speaker0: Oh, you don't like dogs?
- 41:09Speaker1: I like dogs, but Air Bud can go.
- 41:11Speaker0: Okay, the next one
- 41:13Speaker0: is Moneyball.
- 41:15Speaker1: Moneyball?
- 41:17Speaker0: It's a baseball movie.
- 41:18Speaker1: I don't know Moneyball. I don't know Moneyball. No, they put
- 41:21Speaker1: that out in Oakland. I know Moneyball. Uh,
- 41:25Speaker1: uh, no, no, no, not a Moneyball.
- 41:27Speaker0: You're gonna cut?
- 41:29Speaker0: Oh, oh, so you've cut Jerry Maguire,
- 41:33Speaker0: you've cut Air Bud, and you've cut Moneyball.
- 41:38Speaker0: All right, you've kept Any Given Sunday, He Got Game.
- 41:43Speaker0: Uh, the next one up is Rocky.
- 41:50Speaker1: Rocky. Uh, I chose 2 already.
- 41:53Speaker0: Yes, you have.
- 41:57Speaker1: Um, all right, I'll keep Rocky. I'll put Rocky up on my Mount Rushmore.
- 42:00Speaker1: All right.
- 42:01Speaker0: Uh, the next one is White Men Can't Jump.
- 42:05Speaker0: And I can't, just so you know.
- 42:07Speaker1: All right, cool. Uh, I already
- 42:09Speaker1: have a baseball movie— I mean, a basketball movie though, right,
- 42:13Speaker1: on my Mount Rushmore. So just because, just because I have a
- 42:17Speaker1: basketball movie on there already, uh, I'll get,
- 42:20Speaker1: I'll, uh, honorable, honorable, you know,
- 42:23Speaker1: but I'll keep that off my Mount Rushmore. Oh, wow.
- 42:26Speaker0: Okay. So again, you kept Any Given Sunday,
- 42:29Speaker0: He Got Game, you kept Rocky,
- 42:33Speaker0: and you're keeping Remember the Titans.
- 42:36Speaker1: Okay.
- 42:36Speaker0: So that's on your Mount Rushmore.
- 42:38Speaker1: Okay.
- 42:39Speaker0: That's good. No,
- 42:40Speaker0: I think you did great on that.
- 42:42Speaker1: I'll take that. I'll take that.
- 42:43Speaker1: I'll take that. I ain't mad at that. All right, so last one here
- 42:47Speaker1: because it is Halloween season coming up, spooky season.
- 42:52Speaker1: Uh, so this is the Mount Rushmore of final girls.
- 42:56Speaker0: Okay.
- 42:57Speaker1: You know those?
- 42:57Speaker0: Yep.
- 42:58Speaker1: Final girls, those ones that made it
- 43:00Speaker1: to the very end of the movie.
- 43:00Speaker0: Oh wow, this will be fun.
- 43:02Speaker1: And we
- 43:03Speaker1: got a mix— there's a mix of old school and new school.
- 43:05Speaker0: Okay, cool.
- 43:05Speaker1: So, uh, kicking it off right now for your Mount Rushmore,
- 43:08Speaker1: we got Ellen Ripley of Aliens.
- 43:11Speaker0: I'm gonna
- 43:16Speaker0: cut.
- 43:16Speaker1: Okay.
- 43:19Speaker1: All right, then. So next one up for your Mount
- 43:22Speaker1: Rushmore, we have, uh, Jamie Lee Curtis's Laurie
- 43:27Speaker1: Strode from Halloween.
- 43:28Speaker0: I gotta keep that.
- 43:29Speaker1: Okay.
- 43:29Speaker0: That's a keep.
- 43:30Speaker1: You got Halloween?
- 43:31Speaker0: Absolutely.
- 43:33Speaker1: Laurie Strode on the Mount Rushmore?
- 43:34Speaker0: Absolutely. That's 100% keep.
- 43:37Speaker1: Next one up we have is Jennifer Love Hewitt,
- 43:40Speaker1: Julie James from I Know What You Did Last Summer.
- 43:45Speaker0: Oh man.
- 43:47Speaker1: 2 sequels. Yeah, 2 sequels.
- 43:49Speaker0: I feel like— I, I don't know. I'm kind of like back
- 43:53Speaker0: and forth on this one. Um, being that I
- 43:57Speaker0: have so many choices, I feel like I've got to cut.
- 44:01Speaker0: Respectfully, I've got to cut.
- 44:02Speaker1: Okay.
- 44:03Speaker0: Even though it pains me.
- 44:05Speaker1: Okay. So then the next one up we have is
- 44:10Speaker1: Mia Goth, Maxine Minx, and she was in
- 44:13Speaker1: X, Maxine, and then Pearl.
- 44:17Speaker0: She's good.
- 44:18Speaker0: Um,
- 44:21Speaker0: I feel like there's gonna be somebody better though, so I'm gonna cut.
- 44:24Speaker1: Yeah.
- 44:25Speaker1: Keep her off the Mount Rushmore.
- 44:25Speaker0: Yeah.
- 44:26Speaker1: I'm gonna keep her on it after 3
- 44:27Speaker1: straight. Keep her off. Next one up,
- 44:31Speaker1: we have Miss Sidney Prescott from Scream.
- 44:36Speaker0: Let's keep.
- 44:37Speaker1: That's it? So that's, that's it right there? You're gonna wrap it up
- 44:39Speaker1: there?
- 44:40Speaker0: Huh?
- 44:40Speaker1: You're gonna wrap it up there?
- 44:41Speaker0: Well, I gotta keep
- 44:42Speaker0: that.
- 44:43Speaker1: That's it? That's the— that's it for your, for your Mount Rushmore then?
- 44:45Speaker1: You wrapping it up there?
- 44:46Speaker0: No, no, I got 2 more, right?
- 44:48Speaker1: You had—
- 44:49Speaker1: you had— you kept— you, you— did you cut Ella Ripley? You cut— you
- 44:53Speaker1: cut Aliens?
- 44:54Speaker0: Apparently I did. Yeah, unfortunately.
- 44:56Speaker1: Did you?
- 44:58Speaker0: Yeah.
- 44:57Speaker1: I thought you had kept that. All right, okay.
- 45:02Speaker1: All right, so you— so you have 3. Okay, so next one up we have
- 45:05Speaker1: Nancy Thomas from Elm Street, Nightmare on Elm Street.
- 45:09Speaker0: Oh, I'll keep that.
- 45:10Speaker1: So that's all 4 right there?
- 45:11Speaker0: Uh, I think I count
- 45:13Speaker0: 3 because I believe you kept Laurie Strode.
- 45:16Speaker0: Yes.
- 45:16Speaker1: From Halloween.
- 45:17Speaker0: Yep.
- 45:18Speaker1: You kept Jennifer Love Hewitt?
- 45:19Speaker0: No.
- 45:19Speaker1: You say you
- 45:20Speaker1: cut her?
- 45:20Speaker0: Yeah.
- 45:20Speaker1: Okay then. All right, so that's 3 then. Okay, so next one
- 45:23Speaker1: up you have Um, the Carpenter sisters
- 45:27Speaker1: from the reboot of Scream.
- 45:32Speaker0: Hmm, cut.
- 45:34Speaker1: Okay, so then,
- 45:36Speaker1: uh, so the ones you chose to cut were Ellen
- 45:40Speaker1: Ripley from Alien, uh, Julie James, I Know What You Did Last Summer,
- 45:45Speaker1: Maxine Minx from X, and then,
- 45:48Speaker1: uh, the Carpenter sisters from Scream,
- 45:52Speaker1: the briefs from Scream. And so the ones that you have on your Mount Rushmore
- 45:56Speaker1: are Laurie Strode from Halloween, you have
- 45:59Speaker1: Sidney Prescott from Scream, you have Nancy Thompson from Elm Street,
- 46:03Speaker1: and you have Grace Le Domas from Ready or Not. That was a smart
- 46:07Speaker1: weaving. So that's your Mount Rushmore.
- 46:09Speaker0: All right, well,
- 46:10Speaker0: I probably would have changed some. I think I would have tried to keep,
- 46:14Speaker0: uh, Sigourney Weaver No, that's all good,
- 46:17Speaker0: man.
- 46:17Speaker1: It is what it is. No, we can't—
- 46:19Speaker0: you can't go back.
- 46:20Speaker1: You can't go back, man. They set his tone. That's right, Mount Rushmore.
- 46:24Speaker0: All right, well, for my Mount Rushmore for you is
- 46:28Speaker0: best music biopics.
- 46:30Speaker1: Okay.
- 46:31Speaker0: Uh,
- 46:31Speaker0: first one up is Walk the Line. It's Johnny Cash.
- 46:35Speaker1: Yeah, yeah, Johnny Cash. Uh, nah, he can
- 46:39Speaker1: stay off my Mount Rushmore.
- 46:40Speaker0: All right, next one up, Selena. with Jennifer
- 46:43Speaker0: Lopez.
- 46:44Speaker1: Jennifer, yeah, put her up on there. Put her up on the Mount Rushmore.
- 46:46Speaker1: We'll put her up on there.
- 46:47Speaker0: And you got 8 Mile.
- 46:49Speaker1: 8 Mile with
- 46:50Speaker1: Eminem. Yeah,
- 46:54Speaker1: I'll put that up there on the Mount Rushmore. I'll put 8 Mile up there.
- 46:57Speaker0: Yeah, I'll put 8 Mile up there. Uh, Get On Up is next.
- 47:00Speaker1: Oh,
- 47:01Speaker1: with James Brown, man. Shout out to— rest in peace to Chapman, man. King T'Challa,
- 47:05Speaker1: you know what I'm saying? Well, Connor Perez. Exactly. Yeah, I'll put him up there.
- 47:08Speaker1: Put him up there.
- 47:08Speaker0: You're gonna— you're gonna do that?
- 47:09Speaker1: Yep.
- 47:10Speaker0: That's awesome.
- 47:11Speaker1: Uh,
- 47:11Speaker1: I'm Not There, and it was a good movie.
- 47:13Speaker0: It was really good,
- 47:14Speaker0: really good. I enjoyed that one. Uh, next one up is
- 47:18Speaker0: I'm Not There, which is the Bob Dylan one.
- 47:21Speaker1: Oh, with the Timothée
- 47:22Speaker1: Chalamet?
- 47:23Speaker0: No, this one had Christian Bale,
- 47:27Speaker0: uh, Heath Ledger. Oh, and they all played like
- 47:31Speaker0: different parts of Bob Dylan.
- 47:33Speaker1: Oh,
- 47:33Speaker1: okay.
- 47:35Speaker0: Uh, yeah, you're gonna cut that out.
- 47:37Speaker1: I'll keep that off the top. Mount Rushmore.
- 47:39Speaker0: Uh, next one
- 47:40Speaker0: up is Straight Outta Compton.
- 47:43Speaker1: I got 3 so far.
- 47:45Speaker0: Yeah, you kept Selena, you kept 8 Mile,
- 47:49Speaker0: you kept Get On Up.
- 47:51Speaker1: Yeah.
