- 0:01Hey guys, welcome back to. She speaks life where we share
- 0:04our faith stories. I'm your host, Jamie Elizabeth
- 0:08and I am so excited to bring to you.
- 0:10My new friend Nicole Jacobs Meyer.
- 0:14She has a story filled with Relentless trials from assault
- 0:18to depression to miscarriage and cancer but she held onto hope
- 0:24the kind that only God can give and how she was encouraged by
- 0:28God's pursuit to Get her through the most difficult Seasons.
- 0:33Her book, take back your joy fighting for purpose.
- 0:37When life is more than you can handle is out.
- 0:40Now, for pre-order, this book will reassure you that we are
- 0:44never alone in our sufferings doubts and questions that we
- 0:48have in life. You'll want to grab that book by
- 0:51the end of our story. So get ready?
- 0:53Be encouraged and let's dive in. Hi Nicole, Welcome to.
- 0:58She speaks life. Jamie, thank you so much for
- 1:01having me. This is so fun, so fun and what
- 1:05an amazing journey you have been on.
- 1:08So before we get into that, I wanted to ask you, do you have a
- 1:14favorite verse of Life verse that you can share with us?
- 1:19Oh, man, I think this changes seasonally for me.
- 1:23I can't be what. I don't think.
- 1:25I'm one of those people that just has this like overarching.
- 1:27This is my verse for my whole life.
- 1:29Life, right? I think that's great.
- 1:31That people can do that. For me, it's just very seasonal
- 1:34and I think right now, just writing this book and going
- 1:39through pain and hardships and suffering.
- 1:41I love Romans 8:18. And it says, for I consider that
- 1:47the sufferings of, this present time are not worth comparing
- 1:51with the glory, that is to be revealed to us.
- 1:54And that is just something that I have been clinging to and
- 1:59trying Fill my mind with that truth, that it's all going to be
- 2:04worth it and to keep going and trust God in all of this.
- 2:09Yeah, mmm. That's a beautiful verse.
- 2:11Yeah. I mean, and you of all people
- 2:14have gone through some suffering of your own and some pain, which
- 2:20we're going to talk about and you wrote a book and it's been
- 2:26published and it's coming out there into the world.
- 2:29Old. I'm so excited for you and I
- 2:33thank you. I gotta say, I love the title,
- 2:37it's called, take back your joy and the subtitle is fighting for
- 2:44purpose. When life is more than you can
- 2:46handle. And how many of us have gone
- 2:50through things in life difficulties?
- 2:53Where we feel like it's more than we can handle.
- 2:56And we're just like Lord like I can't handle one more.
- 3:00And especially by reading your story of how you just got
- 3:06attacked like back-to-back. And it was just amazing to read
- 3:14your story and how God brought you through.
- 3:18And being though, honest with your emotions and dealing with
- 3:24it and then sharing what God had revealed to you.
- 3:29During those times. So I'm super excited because I
- 3:33know women can relate to this. I know I can relate to this and
- 3:37I know what you have to share is going to make an impact.
- 3:42And so, I just wanted to kind of kick off with maybe the
- 3:45beginning of when this dark season was just basically
- 3:51Uninvited and you're like, yeah, so I grew up in a Christian home
- 3:56and so I had a really great surrounding And I am very lucky.
- 4:01I do not take it for granted of my upbringing because I had
- 4:05parents who were Believers friends.
- 4:07All the things and, you know, it's it's almost like I didn't
- 4:13have enough pain and trials to even understand what suffering
- 4:18with and for Christ even looked like until really big things
- 4:24started happening. And huge pains huge traumas,
- 4:28huge sufferings. And And that's when I felt like
- 4:31I was really tested in my faith and even in my understanding of,
- 4:37having a Biblical foundation, and what does the gospel even
- 4:40mean? And how do I live this out?
- 4:43And how can I read, you know, versus like James 12 where it
- 4:48says, consider a joy whenever you face Trials of many kinds?
- 4:51So once in, once I hit College, there were a lot of things that
- 4:58happened in a short. And one of them was I was
- 5:02actually raped. And so, this intense trauma that
- 5:06I was walking through coupled with all these other things
- 5:10surrounding me, like my dad coming out and sharing that he
- 5:15was living a double life and just other things with school
- 5:19and dealing with friends, and there's just so much in such a
- 5:22short period that I didn't know how to even.
- 5:28Get out, really? I didn't know how to keep
- 5:31serving and loving the Lord when nothing made sense and
- 5:36worshipped and make sense and reading the Bible for sure,
- 5:40didn't make sense. Because God was supposed to be
- 5:43my protector. He was supposed to be my
- 5:45provider and the faithful father, and all of these things
- 5:50that it didn't make sense in my own life because of my
- 5:54circumstances. And so that was kind of the
- 5:57time. That I really started digging.
- 6:00And then all these years later, a, whole set of other trials, it
- 6:06kind of hit me and that was the cherry on top of a stacked
- 6:12decade of pain and suffering that I had to.
- 6:17I had to finally just drop before the Lord on my knees and
- 6:21be like, I have nothing, I don't understand.
- 6:24I've got nothing left. So it's been a very hard hard
- 6:28journey for sure. Now, I know when somebody goes
- 6:33through a right there, like obviously going God, where were
- 6:37you? Right?
- 6:40Tell me, how did you heal from that?
- 6:42How did you heal from that question?
- 6:45God, where were you, how could you let this happen?
- 6:49I honestly, it took me years and years like there are still
- 6:55things that I will have to. A place before him and just say
- 7:00I don't get this and I don't understand, help me to trust.
- 7:05You help me to know your true character.
- 7:08I mean, those, those questions still come.
- 7:10So even though, you know, I wrote a book about joy and all
- 7:13the suffering and whatever that still doesn't mean that I have,
- 7:17it just easy all the time to understand.
- 7:20Oh the truth of the gospel and God's character and I just have
- 7:24all this knowledge, it's living it out and it's like the Choices
- 7:28to keep going and keep serving and keep understanding the truth
- 7:33and keep reading the word. And, I mean, it was years of
- 7:37intense counseling. It was years of, really, just me
- 7:42and the Lord, when I had no one else, one of the things that I
- 7:46think pulled me out of that too, was the woman's director and she
- 7:51was also involved in missions. She of our church.
- 7:55She ended up calling me. I think it was Gosh, within the
- 7:59month of all of this happening and invited me to her office and
- 8:03asked me to lead the missions trip to Nepal that next summer.
- 8:08And I just of course I was like absolutely not.
- 8:11Are you kidding me? I'm like the most broken I've
- 8:13ever been in my entire life and I don't even know if I love God
- 8:16right now. So no I'm not doing that.
- 8:18And she what she said to me, she was like Nicole.
- 8:23I know that God has called you to this because you have nothing
- 8:26to offer. And in your complete Brokenness
- 8:29and weakness, he's gonna he's Gonna Shine through and he's
- 8:32going to show up. And so I was just bawling
- 8:35because I felt like it was a second chance.
- 8:38I felt like it was, you know, taking responsibility and the
- 8:42fact that God used other people to almost bring out this service
- 8:47in me so that I didn't Focus so much on myself and my pain.
- 8:52And what I was walking through and the doubting and the
- 8:56questions It was almost like I had, I had a lot of that over
- 9:01the years, of course, but serving this team and going
- 9:05overseas and witnessing to women who have had it a thousand times
- 9:12worse than I have ever had it. And just showing up and being
- 9:17the hands and feet of Christ to other people that that really
- 9:22helps me that helped me recover so good and so true.
- 9:27True. So I know that when we're
- 9:31walking through some dark Seasons that I remember, going
- 9:35through the worst financial hardship.
- 9:38I mean, we're talking about borrowing money to put food on
- 9:41the table. You got three small, kids, your
- 9:43husband's out of a job. I mean awful, right?
- 9:47And so I remember reluctantly going to the Valentine
- 9:51neighborhood party for moms and kids and approaching this
- 9:56Pinterest looking Front door. You know, where I could barely
- 10:00buy chocolate Valentine candy for my kids, and I'm walking up,
- 10:05and I've just got the. I just knew, I've got this mask
- 10:09on this trying to crack a smile, but inside, I am just broken and
- 10:14I'm crumbling. And so, during your dark
- 10:20seasons, did you feel this pressure to put on this smile?
- 10:26And You know, if we have a friend that's listening that's
- 10:29going through hardship herself. Like what do you say to that
- 10:34person? If they are avoiding their
- 10:37emotions. Yeah.
- 10:38So I completely understand putting that like fake face on
- 10:44after trauma because you're so traumatized that it's like it
- 10:50doesn't even register in your brain what's actually happening.
- 10:54I remember going into this The one of the like police rooms to
- 11:00talk about this investigation that we were going to have to
- 11:02have after everything happened and I was like oh hey how are
- 11:07you guys? And they're like right in that
- 11:09in the notes like okay you know I'm sure they're just like she
- 11:13is she is so traumatized like she doesn't even know what's
- 11:16coming. And so I think that there's a
- 11:19difference between sufferings right in the type of pain that
- 11:24you are walking. Trauma is Is I think a whole
- 11:28other ball game that you really have to sift through and see
- 11:33counseling and just it's a it's a long road ahead, but I think
- 11:39in other things that are really devastating, that could be
- 11:43equally as devastating in your in your heart, soul and mind.
- 11:47And with your walk with the Lord, I think we have to realize
- 11:51the difference between joy and happiness because we're not
- 11:56called to just be like Fake. You know, and we have a
- 12:01responsibility to ourselves to the people around us and to the
- 12:05Lord to be honest. And I think that there's a time
- 12:09and a place for all of that there's a time and a place to
- 12:13vent and let it out. But how in the world are we
- 12:16going to take this a step of healing?
- 12:18If we can't even be honest and we can't even be real and I just
- 12:25I have done a lot of things wrong.
- 12:27Wrong in my life. But one thing is I am always
- 12:31honest because that's the only thing that sometimes you can
- 12:35rely on that to to just be authentic before him and be like
- 12:42I don't get this and I'm mad and I'm hurt and I don't understand.
- 12:47And I don't want to read the Bible and I'm angry.
- 12:49And this is how I am, I don't. And and other people you will
- 12:55see that if you're just honest and This authentic but humble
- 13:00like character that comes around with people, they're going to be
- 13:04able to share your going to be able to share in each other's
- 13:06sufferings as the Bible clearly tells us to do and we can't we
- 13:13can't it starts with us though. We can't expect other women to
- 13:17be like okay once they share maybe then I will like let's
- 13:22just cut past all of that and just be honest that we are all
- 13:27broken. Okin and we all need a savior
- 13:30and we've all had horrible things.
- 13:31And we've all walked through something and we need, we all
- 13:35need Jesus. And so this isn't like a 1-up
- 13:39game, you know. So, definitely be real with your
- 13:42emotions. Definitely be honest before the
- 13:44Lord. I mean, that's kind of where I
- 13:48have to land. Oh, so true.
- 13:50I mean over and over again. I say it many times.
- 13:54I think on this podcast, like, God can handle our Shins are
- 13:58questions. Our anger, like get it all out.
- 14:02He already sees it and in your heart and I love that you also
- 14:07touched on. Share your story.
- 14:09Your sufferings with another woman because I know when I lead
- 14:13a Bible study or facilitate something, you know, you read
- 14:17like how to be a leader, you know, share your story as it, it
- 14:22works because people are just waiting for somebody to share
- 14:26something. That's Real and and not fluffy
- 14:30and then they feel, oh, it's okay.
- 14:33I got permission to share my junk, you know, I so when we
- 14:38reveal we heal, it's not just to go and vomit on it us and stay
- 14:44in that place of right? Don't stay there.
- 14:47Don't, don't stay there. It's actual a step to get out
- 14:51and not to swim in it. So, absolutely, so good.
- 14:55I love everything you said. So in your Take back your joy,
- 14:59one of the chapters you invite women to discover joy in their
- 15:05everyday moments in life, why do you think that it's important to
- 15:10stay in the present and not be? You know, stuck in your past or
- 15:16even be so focused on your future that you miss out in the
- 15:20presence. And you know what are those
- 15:23steps that we can take to really see the president because I can
- 15:27relate. I've been going through this the
- 15:30last few months where God has really been touching on my heart
- 15:34saying stay in the present quit looking at the future.
- 15:39So yeah, share. I'd love to knit.
- 15:42I definitely think there's wisdom in planning and having
- 15:47things in order. Like that's obviously not what
- 15:50we're talking about. But right, I I really think this
- 15:54this chapter came out of Being confined to my bed after cancer
- 16:01and healing and I could do nothing.
- 16:04And I was so depressed. And so just in this complete
- 16:10darkness of doubts, and questions, and anger, and I kind
- 16:14of, I lost it. I lost my fight, I completely
- 16:17lost my fight. I gave up, I was over it, and I
- 16:22couldn't see how I could move on, to be honest.
- 16:25And I didn't see how This new idea of Nicole and how I was,
- 16:32you know, on medication and and to to keep me alive, you know,
- 16:37and it's like I lost my energy and I just wasn't the same
- 16:41person and I hated that. And so I realized that over time
- 16:48when I would get up and put some jeans on and make my lunches for
- 16:53the kids and take him to baseball, make a meal. my family
- 16:58may be clean out a drawer like little things that were right in
- 17:02front of me that I needed to get done helped, pull me out of that
- 17:07type of depression and I think that I mean serving obviously is
- 17:13just a huge thing in general overarching theme in the book
- 17:16but I think being able to serve your family and look at what is
- 17:21right in front of you, with your kids and your friends, and the
- 17:25circle of influence, that guy, God has given you and you are
- 17:29responsible for that that he placed you in that family with
- 17:34those kids as that mom, as that spouse, like, whatever as that
- 17:39best friend for a reason. And we need to, we need to not
- 17:46put those burdens on ourselves of.
- 17:49We have to be perfect or we have to be the best or anything but
- 17:53just being exactly where God wants you to be.
- 17:57And In content in that, I also think for social media, it's a
- 18:00huge thing, you know, being content with where you are and
- 18:04focused in your lane helps you not look around at everyone else
- 18:09and because we can just get so uptight and jealous, and that's
- 18:13a whole other thing, you know. Oh, I know, I know you mentioned
- 18:16that in the book. That it's a joy.
- 18:18Stealer, you know, I've heard you a killer and you know I
- 18:23think it can bend that way. It can be like I'm just Just
- 18:27like, it's a, it's a Bittersweet kind of relationship like, you
- 18:32know, like if you're feeling pressured to post and got this
- 18:36yucky feeling like that's time to take a break and maybe
- 18:41reevaluate. Yeah.
- 18:43Do I want to be on here? And you know what?
- 18:45I did the other day I actually turn I turned off all likes so I
- 18:50can never see likes. I can't see views.
- 18:53I can't even see my own unless I go up and down on it, I didn't
- 18:57know that. Option.
- 18:58Oh my goodness, it's been amazing.
- 19:00Because I'm like I don't care anymore.
- 19:02It's okay. You know, like you don't have to
- 19:04play that game and yeah, we can engage when you want and post a
- 19:07new W and it's so free. You know, that's smart and I
- 19:11even know that there was an option to do that because that
- 19:14is where that they're finding the whatever chemical in your
- 19:18brain. You respond from the likes and
- 19:22the and the comments or whatever that you start to get addicted.
- 19:27And to, right and it starts to be The Driver, you know?
- 19:32Oh, I didn't get many likes on this one, you know, you know,
- 19:37I'm not gonna pose you get down, you know, and it starts to kind
- 19:41of control your mood for that day.
- 19:43I mean, I know that they're that happens because there's a
- 19:47chemical. There's an actual thing that's
- 19:49changing in your brain. Yes.
- 19:51So everyone who's listening go? Yeah, I'm not you're not feel
- 19:55like I'm trying to think of Chemical a brain, but there's
- 19:59some kind of shift in there that happens that I brought about,
- 20:02but anyway. Okay, so along with you going
- 20:07through a horrible situation where you were raped and then
- 20:13you came down with cancer and you're a cancer survivor.
- 20:19Yeah, got out of that. Thank you.
- 20:21Jesus. Yes.
- 20:22And then you went through a period of grief from From a
- 20:27miscarriage, that's a huge loss. You know, and itself.
- 20:32I remember I went through one, I was only about month along, but
- 20:37I remember it was pretty sad. That was a devastating thing
- 20:43that I thought happened to other people.
- 20:45It's not going to happen to me. But just knowing that there was
- 20:48a life in there and that you're showing signs of losing it.
- 20:52I mean, that's, that's horrible and sad.
- 20:54And what could you share on? You know, encouragement going
- 20:59through that type of grief. It was really hard because I
- 21:03lost this baby and then we found out we were moving across the
- 21:07country and then I was diagnosed with cancer within like, a few
- 21:11months of each other. And so I don't think I was able
- 21:15to fully grieve the loss until I was starting to heal from cancer
- 21:23and like, coming out of that because it was also, Also quick
- 21:29that I didn't get to sit and and more and I was more focused on
- 21:34like what happens if I don't wake up after surgery, like what
- 21:40is my family going to do? And it was the most depressing,
- 21:44horrible season because of that. And then afterwards, obviously,
- 21:49I was starting to heal. The surgery went amazing.
- 21:52The treatment went great. Everything's been clear and
- 21:54scans have been wonderful. Praise God.
- 21:56All the things. And then it was like, oh my
- 21:59gosh, I lost a baby. And that was, it was almost like
- 22:05I got hit twice with it because there was so much time in
- 22:10between two when I actually was able to process.
- 22:14And then it was just like adding to the depression and making it
- 22:19even worse because I was so excited for another baby last
- 22:25baby. You know, and And then it's like
- 22:29my whole all my plans got ruined x 100, you know?
- 22:33And right, I didn't, I didn't know how to deal with that but
- 22:37to anyone who's been through that, it's honestly, there's not
- 22:41a right answer or a right as a mom who's walked that.
- 22:47It is just one of the worst things and I don't really know.
- 22:51Besides, like that verse I shared in the beginning that the
- 22:56sufferings we face Here on Earth are nothing compared to the
- 23:01glory that is going to be revealed and the good ahead you
- 23:06know when when Christ returns but that's just yeah, it's such
- 23:10a hard place. It's so it and it's tender and
- 23:13it's touchy and it's just it's just hard.
- 23:16Yeah, I had two ladies. Come on here they have a
- 23:20Ministry, I believe it's called unknown Ministry and they help
- 23:24women going through that grief and that loss.
- 23:27And They do amazing work because it is a journey and you know,
- 23:34there's not some time limit on when you heal, you know,
- 23:38everyone's different and they have all kinds of resources on
- 23:42that which is so good. But I know you had mentioned
- 23:45going back to your book that during your cancer treatment
- 23:49that you kind of then shifted from your agenda to the Lord's
- 23:55agenda and you know, we All know about gratitude and how that
- 24:00impacts us. So what was that correlation for
- 24:04you with gratitude and joy? What did you find during that
- 24:09time when you just gave? Thanks the Lord I think I was
- 24:14because I was basically debilitated on my bed for so
- 24:17long. I remember watching other people
- 24:21serve when I couldn't do anything and they would I had to
- 24:25be on the receiving end. Both serving me waiting on me.
- 24:29Helping me. And my husband was not only the
- 24:34rock of the family that year, but he also was, it was like a
- 24:39whole nother aspect of our marriage was being shown.
- 24:44And I mean, I don't know how detailed you want me to get.
- 24:47But I mean there was like, he had to do some pretty nasty
- 24:50stuff, like, changed my neck drains and yeah, help me wipe my
- 24:54butt. Like bright green hair, all the
- 24:57things, it's like all of it. I couldn't do any all the things
- 25:00you were do. He has right.
- 25:02You. And it's like him stepping in.
- 25:04And that way I mean that really makes you sit back and say, oh
- 25:10my gosh, thank you so much Lord for number one, helping me find
- 25:18this amazing man and putting him in my life.
- 25:20So that all these years later after we got married, he is in
- 25:25this split in this place being able All to serve in this way
- 25:29and love me in this way. Like that is, that's huge.
- 25:33And then seeing how he was with the kids and and how he just I
- 25:37mean this was his intern year of pediatric residency and he had
- 25:42to be playing mom and dad and curtain the kids around and
- 25:47figuring out all the things and while I'm just like healing from
- 25:51surgery, it's I had surgery the same week he started so it's
- 25:55like it helps you. You when you shift from your
- 25:59control, your agenda and starting to see God through the
- 26:05people around you, it gives you this such a gratitude that
- 26:11you're able to sit back and see things that you're thankful for
- 26:16that you probably couldn't have seen before.
- 26:18Yeah. Mmm.
- 26:20So good hard and it was hard because I'm like, such a power
- 26:23through person, right, I'm sure. And and I See you like that,
- 26:28Supernatural those strength through your husband, being able
- 26:31to do all that. I mean, that's not on his own
- 26:34strength, that's on the Lord's strength for him to be able to
- 26:37do that, you're saying about service, being a bridge from
- 26:41Pain to purpose, what you wrote that in the book.
- 26:45And so I just wanted you to kind of explain since you're talking
- 26:49about serving, which I just love because that is such a key to
- 26:54have that joy and to sustain that.
- 26:57Joy in US, is when we're taking the focus off ourselves and
- 27:01putting it in serving others. For me, it's always looking
- 27:05back, is always looking back at remembering what God has done.
- 27:09Because when you're in the middle of pain and you're in the
- 27:12middle of a horrific experience, you're not like, oh, there's got
- 27:16to be purpose in this, you know. Yeah.
- 27:18Right. You don't see, you don't see
- 27:20that and know you don't. Yeah.
- 27:22Right. Like you're so focused on
- 27:24healing and can I breathe? Can I get up out of bed and can
- 27:29I get out of this circumstance? Whatever it is.
- 27:32You're just like total survival mode and so I think being able
- 27:36to look back and see this all the things that God did in this
- 27:44analogy of like a bridge from this painful experience, in
- 27:48these awful, things that have happened and then being able to
- 27:51look over your life. Maybe it's months, maybe it's
- 27:55years, maybe it's decades that you're seeing Seeing this bridge
- 27:58of finally. Okay, I see a purpose in that.
- 28:02I see what God is doing. I know you touched on
- 28:04complaining and when is that time that you say, like, you
- 28:09know, stop staying stock. Stop the complaining.
- 28:12And when we should start pursuing, what God has for us, I
- 28:17think we don't give ourselves enough credit in this, because I
- 28:20think we know, I think we know when it's enough when it's like,
- 28:25okay, stop, yeah. Like, all you're doing now is
- 28:29just this cycle of like a downward spiral.
- 28:33Now, it's not even a cycle anymore.
- 28:34It's now going downwards, we do. And that's why we have to be
- 28:39cognizant of where we are. We have to be mindful and
- 28:43focused on, okay? If this is clearly making me go
- 28:48lower and lower and just bring me down and I'm not doing
- 28:52anything to take a first step that shows that you're probably
- 28:57in the little complaining cycle. Yeah.
- 29:01And I think it's, I think we know and I can't, I'm a really
- 29:07great complainer. I I feel like there's so many
- 29:12things that I just. I immediately vocalize it,
- 29:16right? So that's like I'm a, I'm a
- 29:18verbal processor and so I'll just say it right then out loud,
- 29:22but I try not to stay there and I think it's fine to vent with
- 29:26your And sorta, you know, you need to talk something out with
- 29:30your husband, I mean, that's that's totally normal, right?
- 29:34But once it gets to that, okay, you're bringing everybody down
- 29:39around you, and that's not healthy.
- 29:42I think we know. Okay, yeah, I should stop.
- 29:46Yeah, when it's constant and I think it's, it's easier to
- 29:50complain. It's, you know, that's where
- 29:52cheer. All right?
- 29:54But default is like, I'm just going to do what's easy.
- 29:57ER, it's easier to just sit there and complain and whine and
- 30:02it's harder to actually, you know, stop control our tongue
- 30:06and take it to the Lord and prayer and re new our mind with
- 30:12his word, right? That's just how it is.
- 30:15But we know that that is the solution that is going to his
- 30:22word. Will help us to have a better
- 30:25perspective has Have his perspective on things in life.
- 30:30So yes. Yeah, so true.
- 30:32I love that. You talked about the struggle,
- 30:36you know, with women and how confidence and contentment in
- 30:41Christ. You know does not always become
- 30:45this natural thing to us. Right?
- 30:48And talking about our default so I just want you to share kind of
- 30:54like what are those faithful step?
- 30:57Oops, that women can take to grab onto that Godly confidence
- 31:04and contentment which I just absolutely love.
- 31:07Those two words. I think, well, one I think is
- 31:10different for everybody because it depends on so many things,
- 31:15like the type of Trials you're going through or are you in a
- 31:18great season or you in a really awful season?
- 31:21So how does that, you know, how does that look?
- 31:24But I think with contentment and confidence, Being able to one be
- 31:30authentic before the Lord. Number two, get in the word,
- 31:35always get in the word because we need to know our Bibles and
- 31:39we need to know verses that are being posted on Instagram and
- 31:44the wrong way. We need to be able to discern
- 31:47and know what's truth and what are lies.
- 31:50And we need to know God's character and knowing those
- 31:53things will bring that contentment and confidence.
- 31:57Because then you know who you are and who you're serving and
- 32:01it's a journey. It's not like a simple.
- 32:04I mean it's simple but it takes time to train our minds to go to
- 32:10the word instead of somebody else or remember God's true
- 32:14character for us and his grace and his love for us instead of
- 32:19you know, like I did after cancer just being so mad at him.
- 32:23Well why was I mad? It's because my theology on
- 32:25suffering. Was very much lacking and that's
- 32:30those are the things for me that I really had to work through in
- 32:33order to gain that contentment and confidence but it is a
- 32:37daily, it's a daily Choice. It's a daily lesson and things
- 32:41that we have to grow in and learn because we're never going
- 32:45to all have it figured out you know really as it is a daily
- 32:49Journey. Okay.
- 32:50I'd love to finish our episodes with a takeaway.
- 32:54Do you have something that you can deliver?
- 32:57To our friend here that's listening, so she can ponder on
- 33:01for the day. Yes, I not only going back to
- 33:05the first verse that I've shared a couple times with Romans 8:18
- 33:10and focusing on the glory, that is to be revealed instead of the
- 33:13trials. Now, but also just a takeaway of
- 33:18our lives, are about making Christ known Even in our
- 33:22sufferings and sometimes most of all and are suffering.
- 33:27It's because it's really easy to love God and love people when
- 33:33everything is going great and to be able to Showcase God and who
- 33:40he is and the Miracles he does. And how he's the only one that
- 33:45can transform and renew and restore and redeem, our and
- 33:49heal. All those things in our lives.
- 33:53It's about making him known even in the worst place.
- 33:57So God I love it. Take back your joy is coming
