- 2:40Any morning send you.
- 2:44In local news, Massachusetts residents are noticing a lot of yellow-green dust on outdoor
- 2:50objects and in the air, which is pine pollen.
- 2:54Despite its visibility, Dr. Ali Raja explains that pine pollen is unlikely to trigger allergies,
- 3:01as it's heavier and falls to the ground quickly.
- 3:05The current allergens are mostly oak, mulberry, and grasses.
- 3:09Rising temperatures have extended pollen season by three weeks, increasing pollen by 20 percent.
- 3:17Allergy sufferers should consult an allergist for specific tests and treatments.
- 3:26Now on to sports.
- 3:28Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson's four-year, $140 million extension, averaging
- 3:36$35 million per year, sets a new pay scale for non-quarterbacks.
- 3:43This deal, equating to quarterback-level money, places Jefferson among the highest-paid players
- 3:48in the NFL, just behind Aaron Rodgers and ahead of Baker Mayfield.
- 3:54This contract will likely influence future deals for top wideouts like Jamar Chase and
- 4:00C.D. Lamb, pushing more elite receivers into the 25-30 million range annually.
- 4:07Jefferson's contract also underscores the importance of balancing high salaries within
- 4:12the team's overall salary cap.
- 4:15In local sports, the Sox had last night off, but tonight, they're at home to take on the
- 4:23Braves, with Cutter Crawford facing Max Breed.
- 4:28And top news.
- 4:30Drinking alcohol before napping on a plane can harm your health, both short-term and
- 4:35long-term, due to the lower air pressure and oxygen levels in airplane cabins.
- 4:41A study found that alcohol, combined with these conditions, lowers oxygen saturation
- 4:47and increases heart rate.
- 4:49Moreover, alcohol impairs sleep quality by reducing REM sleep and causing fragmented
- 4:56rest.
- 4:58Experts recommend avoiding alcohol, staying hydrated, choosing flights that align with
- 5:03your natural sleep patterns, eating light and healthy foods, exercising and minimizing
- 5:08screen use to improve in-flight sleep.
- 5:13In business news, the U.S. banking system faces a potential crisis as $929 billion in
- 5:22commercial real estate debt comes due in 2024.
- 5:27The Fed's high interest rates may cause bank failures and real estate defaults.
- 5:33Recent collapses, like Silicon Valley Bank and First Republic Bank, highlight vulnerabilities.
- 5:40Regional banks, holding nearly 70 percent of commercial real estate loans, face severe
- 5:46strain.
- 5:48Rising interest rates and changes in office space demand exacerbate this perfect storm.
- 5:54Over the next three years, over $2 trillion in commercial real estate loan payments are
- 6:00due, which is adding pressure.
- 6:03While the Federal Reserve's stress tests offer some protection, the sheer volume of
- 6:07maturing loans and high rates creates a challenging environment for smaller banks.
- 6:13In crypto movement, Bitcoin is just under $68,000.
- 6:18Ethereum is nearing $3,800.
- 6:22And Solana is $163.
- 6:27Moving on to a more local vibe.

- 7:12And now back to the show.
- 7:15Let's talk science.
- 7:18Scientists have discovered why people spontaneously dance to music, finding that the impulse,
- 7:23or groove experience, is linked to the music's syncopation.
- 7:29Syncopation involves rhythmic patterns where beats appear unpredictably.
- 7:34Cognitive neuroscientist Benjamin Morland's experiments showed that a medium degree of
- 7:39syncopation most strongly triggers the desire to dance, as it allows the brain to predict
- 7:45and follow the basic beat.
- 7:48This groove experience arises in the dorsal auditory pathway, which connects the auditory
- 7:53cortex with movement areas, integrating rhythm with motor impulses to create the urge to
- 7:59move.
- 8:00And in entertainment news, Daniel Craig returns as Detective Benoit Plank in the third installment
- 8:10of Rian Johnson's Knives Out series.
- 8:14The film titled Wake Up Dead Man is written and directed by Johnson and is set to release
- 8:20globally on Netflix in 2025.
- 8:24Following the success of the first two films, this sequel boasts an ensemble cast featuring
- 8:29Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Josh Brolin, and Maylev Kunis.
- 8:36While plot details remain secret, the story promises another intriguing murder mystery
- 8:41with a colorful array of suspects.
- 8:44Well, alrighty folks, it's time for the quote of the day.
- 8:50And today, our quote comes from the woman's rights activist, Susan B. Anthony.
- 8:57She said,
- 8:58Oh, if I could but live another century and see the fruition of all the work for women.
