- 0:15Speaker 3: they get a little They called me by love, by love,
- 0:22Speaker 3: love all the Lord. Welcome to the ball Alert Show.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Podcasts available everywhere you get your podcasts. I go by
- 0:28Speaker 3: the name of Frid Simmons.
- 0:29Speaker 4: I go back now, you know, BT, see where that
- 0:31Speaker 4: Oh Kenny buns in the building.
- 0:35Speaker 3: We're still snapping, man, it's still you. Remember that we
- 0:38Speaker 3: could get from John. We've been snapping snapping. You started that.
- 0:43Speaker 5: I love that.
- 0:44Speaker 3: What's up man? Looking real, looking real fresh, always fresh?
- 0:46Speaker 5: Think you brother, Thank you, Just happy to be. I'm
- 0:48Speaker 5: proud of y'all. Seeing y'all doing y'all thug bizz for
- 0:51Speaker 5: shizzle makes my heart smile. Yeah, yeah, what's popping from.
- 0:55Speaker 6: The lifestyle Specialist? Now the culture man, Why the switch?
- 0:59Speaker 5: It's really the life our specialists. I just felt like
- 1:02Speaker 5: fucking with the algorithm. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:03Speaker 2: When I came the culture.
- 1:05Speaker 5: Because I just you know, I did a puff daddy
- 1:07Speaker 5: on accident. You know what I'm saying. I really feel
- 1:10Speaker 5: like where we are today, we need a culture man,
- 1:13Speaker 5: we need a culture woman, We need culture. And I
- 1:15Speaker 5: just feel like I think I'm the best example in
- 1:19Speaker 5: our industry of like you know, from family to consistency
- 1:22Speaker 5: with my mentees and my people in general, I think
- 1:25Speaker 5: I show up the best way.
- 1:28Speaker 6: And because you started a lifestyle.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Specialist question, no question, but a lot of.
- 1:32Speaker 6: People started to take on that moniker no question.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Many it's a mini of a lifestyle specially that exists,
- 1:38Speaker 5: and it's it's supposed to write that. The idea was
- 1:41Speaker 5: that you have these creative abilities, but you don't know
- 1:44Speaker 5: how to use them all the time. You don't know
- 1:46Speaker 5: how to direct the energy. So creating a lifestyle specialist
- 1:49Speaker 5: allowed you to kind of be in a playground of
- 1:50Speaker 5: sorts and define who you wanted to be versus being
- 1:54Speaker 5: judged for every mistake. And okay, I bought my head
- 1:57Speaker 5: this way, but it you can bump your head and
- 1:58Speaker 5: go to this thing and keep it moving. So I'm
- 2:01Speaker 5: proud of everybody doing that thing that that that called
- 2:03Speaker 5: themselves affectionately a lifestyle specialist.
- 2:07Speaker 3: So you were the first person I saw making money
- 2:12Speaker 3: being yourself. But it was outside of radio I always saw.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I always looked up to people in the radio business.
- 2:20Speaker 3: And then when I moved to Atlanta, permanently I kept
- 2:23Speaker 3: seeing Kenny Burns.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I was like, damn.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I kept asking. I was like, he's on the radio.
- 2:27Speaker 3: It was like, nah, he by himself, how does that happen?
- 2:31Speaker 3: But then I saw Gray Goose. I never I'll never forget.
- 2:34Speaker 3: One time I'm changing Little Rari's Pamper Wow Pamper, and
- 2:42Speaker 3: I see it's on ESPN. It goes to commercial and
- 2:46Speaker 3: I see Kenny Burns and the Gray Goose commercial.
- 2:50Speaker 5: I remember that.
- 2:50Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, So you know, you know,
- 2:52Speaker 3: snaps for you for that, because what I'm saying is
- 2:58Speaker 3: easy to say it, Yeah, but it's hard to sell yourself. Yeah,
- 3:03Speaker 3: and you're talking to someone who had to study you
- 3:05Speaker 3: because I came in the same way. Actually I couldn't.
- 3:09Speaker 3: I couldn't get hired on the radio.
- 3:10Speaker 5: You couldn't quite define what the energy was you had.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah, because I went straight out to college from Tampa,
- 3:16Speaker 3: I had an internship, and I'm over here plying to
- 3:19Speaker 3: the radio stations. I couldn't get in, So who do I?
- 3:22Speaker 4: What do I?
- 3:23Speaker 3: And I kept saying, Oh, there's a there's a lane
- 3:26Speaker 3: right there, and I saw what you were doing. I
- 3:29Speaker 3: was coming. I mean you. The rest is history. But
- 3:31Speaker 3: I was just saying for the audience that may not
- 3:33Speaker 3: know I was watching you. I was literally on my
- 3:35Speaker 3: iPhone taking notes. Okay, this is I says, this is
- 3:38Speaker 3: what's going on with that. I got to figure out
- 3:40Speaker 3: my own way to do it.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, And it.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Took a while, but we got there, and then I
- 3:45Speaker 3: verged off a little bit. You kept me on track.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Burst off a couple more times.
- 3:48Speaker 3: You kept me on track, but I felt like I
- 3:50Speaker 3: had to do it my own way. I just say
- 3:52Speaker 3: that to say you were the first person I saw
- 3:56Speaker 3: sell yourself and make money for being Kenny Burn, Like
- 4:00Speaker 3: that's your real name, Like my name is my name
- 4:04Speaker 3: is Ferrari? Because I just loved that. I remember when
- 4:07Speaker 3: I changed it from Sean to Ferrari. What are you doing?
- 4:09Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Like keep shawing, but you
- 4:12Speaker 3: get paid to be literally you, and.
- 4:15Speaker 5: It takes time.
- 4:16Speaker 3: That's dope.
- 4:17Speaker 5: But I think you're looking at yourself now. You all
- 4:18Speaker 5: are looking at yourself. You're like, I mean even I remember,
- 4:21Speaker 5: meaning you know o ct at the radio stay.
- 4:24Speaker 3: The first she didn't say anything.
- 4:25Speaker 5: No, she was not a personality on radio.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I alwaysn't a person not on radio. But I was
- 4:30Speaker 1: to myself. People didn't know that.
- 4:32Speaker 5: Well, I've always seen you for exactly who.
- 4:34Speaker 6: You were seek out stars.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I really do, honestly, and thank you for that.
- 4:39Speaker 5: But I saw like when I worked with her, it
- 4:41Speaker 5: was like, wait, she way more talented. Because you know,
- 4:44Speaker 5: if someone can take your voice and music and put
- 4:48Speaker 5: all the things around to make it a thing, they
- 4:51Speaker 5: got to be able to do it themselves. Like it's
- 4:53Speaker 5: just it's just a matter of time. And when I
- 4:56Speaker 5: put this whole thing together, y'all were the first two.
- 4:59Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying, Sue that I was like, Yo,
- 5:01Speaker 5: this is it just makes sense because each of y'all
- 5:03Speaker 5: had those qualities at that time. You know what I'm saying.
- 5:06Speaker 5: You've been an amazing addition. You're you're hilarious by the way,
- 5:10Speaker 5: appreciate it. But the whole point is that, you know,
- 5:18Speaker 5: we all start somewhere, you know what I mean. The
- 5:21Speaker 5: whole key is to start understood.
- 5:24Speaker 6: Going back to that.
- 5:25Speaker 1: You know when Y was talking like you had the
- 5:28Speaker 1: Kenny Burns show, you know on YouTube?
- 5:30Speaker 6: I guess was it YouTube?
- 5:31Speaker 5: Well? I had, so fuck Reggie Rouse. I just want
- 5:34Speaker 5: to say that, Okay, oh uh fuck uh Ryan Cameron
- 5:39Speaker 5: for back then, for back then. I love Ryan, but
- 5:42Speaker 5: fuck Ryan back then because Ryan. The reason I got
- 5:46Speaker 5: into radio is because Ryan Cameron hated on me. And
- 5:50Speaker 5: the story goes, so, Frank Skid has always been like
- 5:54Speaker 5: me to you right, always saw my light. Always was
- 5:57Speaker 5: like Kenny Kenny, Kenny Kenny, you know, great great man.
- 6:02Speaker 5: And I wanted to get in radio because I was
- 6:04Speaker 5: doing the clubs. I had already had the energy without
- 6:07Speaker 5: the radio. I was party king like you know what
- 6:10Speaker 5: I'm saying. And I was like, let me get on
- 6:12Speaker 5: the radio. And Alex big shot the agentertainer, he kept
- 6:14Speaker 5: up asking me to do it. You know what I'm saying.
- 6:17Speaker 5: He's like, yo, go on the radio. Like I couldn't
- 6:20Speaker 5: do the live broadcast because I went on the radio, bustuoners.
- 6:23Speaker 5: I get on the twelve, the club went crazy. So
- 6:25Speaker 5: he's like, yo, if you could just so anybody. I
- 6:27Speaker 5: was like, you know what, let me just cause I
- 6:29Speaker 5: mean I had something to say. At the time, I
- 6:30Speaker 5: felt like culture was going in directions where I was leading,
- 6:34Speaker 5: and so I felt like my messaging would have been great.
- 6:36Speaker 5: So you know, I'm always premeditated with my offer. So
- 6:38Speaker 5: I'm literally like, I'm gonna go get on radio, and
- 6:41Speaker 5: I never get Frank tried to lay it up. Ryan
- 6:45Speaker 5: Cameron said, not quote to many of people that came
- 6:48Speaker 5: back to me, why we let a non radio person
- 6:50Speaker 5: on radio, And right then and there, I was like,
- 6:53Speaker 5: oh R. So I went and got with Mike Johnson. Oh.
- 6:57Speaker 5: I went out with Mike Johnson. We started be High
- 7:00Speaker 5: FM and we had the Kenny Byrne Show on Behive
- 7:03Speaker 5: FL and we were murdered. And I set it up
- 7:05Speaker 5: at two to six every day to go against Ryan
- 7:09Speaker 5: and we made so much noise. I think it was
- 7:10Speaker 5: eight months later Reggie came knocking. So that's like, you know,
- 7:13Speaker 5: a testament to to it, like if someone doesn't hear
- 7:15Speaker 5: you or doesn't believe you, got to create that shit.
- 7:18Speaker 5: So we're in the world of media now that it
- 7:20Speaker 5: doesn't take a radio station, and you did this.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Back then when it was very it was more difficult.
- 7:26Speaker 5: To a no podcast.
- 7:27Speaker 3: There was no podcast and.
- 7:28Speaker 5: To be honest with me shouting Mike Johnson although he
- 7:30Speaker 5: supports Trump, and I don't even today I think he
- 7:32Speaker 5: supports Trump, So fuck you too. Like but and I
- 7:35Speaker 5: love you. But the point I'm trying to make it,
- 7:38Speaker 5: I don't understand you know what I mean, Like.
- 7:40Speaker 3: You came in swinging, you came in you know.
- 7:43Speaker 5: I mean, I love Ryan. I just but I wanted
- 7:45Speaker 5: to tell you how I felt at the time because
- 7:48Speaker 5: it was fucking everybody. And I think at some point
- 7:50Speaker 5: in your life if things aren't meeting the mark or
- 7:54Speaker 5: meeting what you work for and prepare for a fuck everybody.
- 7:57Speaker 5: You know what I'm talking about because guess what I
- 7:59Speaker 5: say this all the time. When I show up, everybody
- 8:01Speaker 5: get in line. It's no, I'm not no gangster, no more.
- 8:04Speaker 5: I don't go through no gangster ship. But it's a
- 8:06Speaker 5: respect thing. It's like, how could you not fuck with
- 8:09Speaker 5: this guy? Like he puts everybody on, He shakes everything,
- 8:13Speaker 5: and he was looking gives people opportunity he doesn't know.
- 8:16Speaker 5: He speaks to culture in a way that's enduring, you
- 8:20Speaker 5: know what I'm saying, or endearing right and enduring. But yeah,
- 8:23Speaker 5: so I just I didn't mean the bus shots early,
- 8:26Speaker 5: but no, and.
- 8:27Speaker 1: When you said let it up, you were co hosting
- 8:29Speaker 1: the morning show, you know at that time.
- 8:32Speaker 5: No, so no. When I got to your point when
- 8:33Speaker 5: I got the gig eight months later, Frankskey said, I
- 8:37Speaker 5: only want Kenny hosting the morning show.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Oh wow, he's but he didn't.
- 8:40Speaker 5: He didn't really fuck with Ryan at the time either,
- 8:42Speaker 5: because there was you know, there was no I'm not
- 8:46Speaker 5: it's not a bad thing, but Ryan was the heir apparent,
- 8:49Speaker 5: you know.
- 8:49Speaker 3: What I mean, Like he was next, he was next.
- 8:52Speaker 5: And so it was a thing, right, But then it
- 8:53Speaker 5: was also too like nah, I fuck would dude, and
- 8:56Speaker 5: then me and Wanda hit. It all so crazy and
- 8:58Speaker 5: I want to say, you.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Did sound amazing in the morning.
- 9:01Speaker 5: I remember listening, and I want to say fifty two
- 9:04Speaker 5: weeks out of that year, I might have did ten weeks,
- 9:07Speaker 5: like some unheard of and this is like my first
- 9:09Speaker 5: time on radio ever.
- 9:11Speaker 6: You were coming there on our show too. I was
- 9:13Speaker 6: on Ryan camer.
- 9:14Speaker 5: Show, yes, because I was doing weekends, so everybody knows.
- 9:18Speaker 5: That's why I had to.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Did Sundays Friday.
- 9:21Speaker 2: He was already over one O three.
- 9:22Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Saturday Saturday, Saturday, Sunday and remote Friday. But you did that.
- 9:27Speaker 3: You did the world famous compound, no question.
- 9:29Speaker 5: But I named it the world Oh yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 3: I said that in the previous thing. I will say,
- 9:33Speaker 3: though you determined if I went out that night or
- 9:37Speaker 3: not really by the picture of your voice. Let me
- 9:39Speaker 3: know if it was empty or if it was packed.
- 9:43Speaker 3: And you know, back in the clubs, you know, me
- 9:44Speaker 3: and him went viral, well, all of us went viral. Uh,
- 9:47Speaker 3: they said, you know, people, a lot of people mad
- 9:50Speaker 3: at us. I had an argument with Jabar Cash with
- 9:51Speaker 3: my camera. I had argument with Jabar Cash. She was
- 9:54Speaker 3: mad at me. But I invited him to come on
- 9:56Speaker 3: the podcast and on the radio.
- 9:57Speaker 4: And don't side with haters. We don't, we don't sid
- 10:00Speaker 4: I already talked to him about that. Will saw it
- 10:02Speaker 4: with hater No.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Yeah, anyway, I felt like the Atlanta nightlife was ruined. Yeah,
- 10:08Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. Well, BT said that, But
- 10:10Speaker 3: I said, I see both sides. Because there's no dance floor.
- 10:13Speaker 3: The dance floor is gone. That's in fact, you know
- 10:15Speaker 3: what I'm saying. Like, there's not even an option to dance.
- 10:19Speaker 3: So I just want to give some motherfuckers some options.
- 10:22Speaker 3: If anyone's valid to say an opinion on night life,
- 10:26Speaker 3: someone that's been in it for fifteen years and did
- 10:28Speaker 3: it at the highest level like me, I can say.
- 10:30Speaker 5: That you saw the end of an era in the
- 10:33Speaker 5: beginning of a newer I was there.
- 10:35Speaker 2: With your era.
- 10:36Speaker 3: I created my own, and then I blended in with
- 10:38Speaker 3: the new guys and now they're the old Doug.
- 10:41Speaker 5: You know, like, you don't like this music, you can't
- 10:44Speaker 5: possibly like this music, so you learn from me. So
- 10:47Speaker 5: I'm like you saw the value of good music and
- 10:50Speaker 5: feeling women in the way.
- 10:52Speaker 3: But I was stuck in a place where I'm big
- 10:55Speaker 3: I'm big bro and little bro at the same time
- 10:58Speaker 3: because he ain't number thirty. Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 11:02Speaker 5: He's with me, no facts, I get it.
- 11:07Speaker 2: So he's with me.
- 11:09Speaker 3: But the way that I was with you.
- 11:10Speaker 5: I agree. I don't know about the smoke. I mean,
- 11:13Speaker 5: at least you didn't say bar because you know, no, no, no, no,
- 11:17Speaker 5: I know. I'm just saying.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Business right now, that relationship where we could curse each other.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Absolutely, But I think, in all fairness to what you
- 11:27Speaker 5: were saying, right, I think when VIP sections came it
- 11:31Speaker 5: killed the club everywhere everywhere. You can't because it's no
- 11:35Speaker 5: VP at that point, right, it's just people. It's a
- 11:37Speaker 5: sports people trying to outdo each other having but see
- 11:41Speaker 5: that gout complacency involved in night life. You can't be
- 11:45Speaker 5: chilling in night life. You gotta be spirited. Like it
- 11:48Speaker 5: was almost like you know how, like a motherfucker be
- 11:50Speaker 5: getting ready to do the double Dutch. They was like,
- 11:53Speaker 5: all ship about to come on. It's about because even
- 11:56Speaker 5: when he said about coming to the club big shot,
- 11:59Speaker 5: the DJ Baby You. First of all, he's doing my
- 12:01Speaker 5: no or No Love part. He is the best DJ.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Like I'm talking about anybody I've ever and DJ Infamous
- 12:08Speaker 5: obviously an Ace and all my people. I loved them all,
- 12:11Speaker 5: but DJ Baby You it's different. And because we did
- 12:15Speaker 5: we started doing the broadcast.
- 12:18Speaker 3: When we was on the radio.
- 12:19Speaker 5: If he's nobody in the club and it sounded like
- 12:21Speaker 5: four thousand people in the.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I would hear Kenny Burns say, what up? T what Like, Yo,
- 12:28Speaker 3: it's litter there, I'm like.
- 12:32Speaker 5: But that was also around the time the Late culture starting,
- 12:34Speaker 5: right when people were coming to the club at twelve
- 12:36Speaker 5: and one and.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Who started that?
- 12:38Speaker 3: But compound had a dance floor. Compound had a dance floor,
- 12:42Speaker 3: and then he opened up the area for people to
- 12:44Speaker 3: come look at the VP. The vip was an experience
- 12:47Speaker 3: at the time.
- 12:48Speaker 5: The stage.
- 12:49Speaker 3: You will literally come, you will go dance over there,
- 12:52Speaker 3: or if you want to see who was who, you
- 12:54Speaker 3: will come over to the vip era and who's who
- 12:56Speaker 3: will be in that VP.
- 12:58Speaker 5: Are question, no question. And I love Alex and what
- 13:01Speaker 5: he did monetarily because it will never be done again.
- 13:04Speaker 5: What he did. I mean, sixty something tables sold out,
- 13:08Speaker 5: you know, I.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Remember, that's crazy.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I remember.
- 13:11Speaker 5: I remember seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars at the
- 13:13Speaker 5: bar nights, million dollar bar nights.
- 13:16Speaker 4: That's crazy.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Like I remember the night.
- 13:18Speaker 5: I remember it because I had the liquor money, you
- 13:21Speaker 5: know what I'm talking about, and whatever I sponsored, I
- 13:23Speaker 5: got a piece of I remember speaking of that. Yeah.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I always wanted to ask you this question on camera. Yeah,
- 13:31Speaker 3: because I was there. Yeah, And I was like, you
- 13:33Speaker 3: don't even remember, Like I was like you're young, and
- 13:35Speaker 3: like I was ready to fight. Is it the night
- 13:39Speaker 3: when you got into it with puff Daddy.
- 13:41Speaker 7: We'll be right back with more of the Bawler Alert Show.
- 13:48Speaker 7: You're listening to a special edition of The Baller Alert show.
- 13:50Speaker 5: Baller Nationist the Lifestyle Specialist aka the Culture Man Kenny
- 13:54Speaker 5: Burns and stay tuned.
- 13:55Speaker 6: What happened with puff Daddy?
- 13:57Speaker 3: Because he had you had Grey Goose?
- 13:59Speaker 5: Yeah, so I had. I had essentially created ambassador programs
- 14:02Speaker 5: at all spirit companies, endu using and Grey Goose at
- 14:05Speaker 5: this time was one of my clients and I was
- 14:09Speaker 5: just you know, targeting him. He came to Atlanta a lot.
- 14:13Speaker 5: I was the club guy, and I felt like, you know,
- 14:16Speaker 5: just asserting myself in the power that I had.
- 14:19Speaker 3: You guys had previous history.
- 14:20Speaker 5: We've had history forever, but it's always been rocky, right,
- 14:23Speaker 5: It's always been some issues on some level, you know
- 14:28Speaker 5: what I mean.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I felt like it was always like competition.
- 14:30Speaker 5: First time the first time I met him in high school.
- 14:33Speaker 3: You met Diddy in high school.
- 14:34Speaker 5: When I was in high school in Washington, d C.
- 14:37Speaker 5: I met Sean Comes. He went to Howard. It was
- 14:40Speaker 5: a street thing. I was in the street. We sixteen
- 14:42Speaker 5: years old. We had fake id's we in the club
- 14:44Speaker 5: popping moat. So he's like, who are y'all? You know
- 14:46Speaker 5: what I'm saying? And mind you He's at Howard. He's
- 14:48Speaker 5: back and forth from New York. He's going through his
- 14:50Speaker 5: whole thing. So I was just like, damn okay. I
- 14:53Speaker 5: learned about Mary j.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Blige.
- 14:54Speaker 5: I learned about Joe said, all these people he was
- 14:56Speaker 5: working with, and then my industry father, who became my
- 14:59Speaker 5: industry I was under herrail through him like I saw
- 15:02Speaker 5: his world. Right. So long story short, fast forward freak
- 15:05Speaker 5: Nick ninety four. We got into some gun play at
- 15:07Speaker 5: the world famous warehouse that used to be world famous
- 15:11Speaker 5: before it was originally the Phoenix, then became the Warehouse
- 15:14Speaker 5: before compound was the world famous and we had some
- 15:16Speaker 5: gun play with a fight, and so we've always had
- 15:19Speaker 5: like energy, you know what I mean. But that night
- 15:22Speaker 5: at the world famous compound, I had a billboard, Oh
- 15:26Speaker 5: no question, I was taunting him. I had a bill
- 15:28Speaker 5: board in front of Justice strategically.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Strategic name that his son over the on p Street.
- 15:33Speaker 5: Used to be on. Yeah, it's not eleven forty five,
- 15:37Speaker 5: it's actually a I think it's a Wells far.
- 15:42Speaker 3: I'm a black off my ba ahead.
- 15:43Speaker 5: So the billboard across the street, I literally had a
- 15:45Speaker 5: billboard said rise of Icons of Kenny Burns show three up,
- 15:49Speaker 5: Greg Goo's bottle. I had another one that the Gold Room. Uh.
- 15:53Speaker 5: And then that night at the compound, I put my
- 15:55Speaker 5: booth in front of his see because you remember the
- 15:57Speaker 5: stage was in the stage, Alex started putting boots on
- 15:59Speaker 5: the floor, so I took the whole front. So every
- 16:02Speaker 5: time he said, we're like ahor and I promised you.
- 16:05Speaker 5: I probably popped a hundred bottles that night just to
- 16:08Speaker 5: fuck with him, and so he was I never forget it.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Walker got my money up. I can't read, and so
- 16:15Speaker 5: he's like, put your motherfuckering bottles in it. So everybody
- 16:17Speaker 5: in my table double fisted with Greg Goose and it
- 16:20Speaker 5: was like.
- 16:20Speaker 3: You light skinned motherfuckers hate he was doing viral. He
- 16:24Speaker 3: said that's peepee water.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Yeah, well he was doing that prior to this.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yeah, he was already was.
- 16:29Speaker 5: He was going crazy on everybody that wasn't rock, which
- 16:31Speaker 5: was part of his tactic in which partly blew up
- 16:34Speaker 5: sar Rock. But anyway, it's legendary. It's in my documentary.
- 16:36Speaker 5: It's Google of Boots.
- 16:38Speaker 6: What matters most documentary, Yeah, coming out soon.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Speaking of a film, you have a film series on
- 16:45Speaker 1: Peacock Fight Night.
- 16:46Speaker 6: Okay, September ninth.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Okay, journalists journals talk about it. Yeah. Absolutely. September fifth,
- 16:55Speaker 5: Fight Night, The Million Dollar Heights comes out on Peacock.
- 16:58Speaker 5: It is the story of Chicken Man, who was a
- 17:01Speaker 5: local hustler in Atlanta played he's played by Kevin Hart
- 17:07Speaker 5: in the late sixties early seventies. Actually happened in nineteen seventies,
- 17:10Speaker 5: a heist died. There's a juxtaposition to the street life
- 17:16Speaker 5: that Chickenman was living with JD, who was the first
- 17:20Speaker 5: black detective in Atlanta, who's being played by Don Cheatle,
- 17:23Speaker 5: and there's a dynamic relationship with them. There's a whole
- 17:27Speaker 5: lot of gangster ship that surrounds this, uh this fight night,
- 17:30Speaker 5: right because Ali, fresh off the Dodger status, was fighting
- 17:35Speaker 5: Corey and it was you know, he was the great
- 17:37Speaker 5: White hope back then, and it was at the Municipal
- 17:39Speaker 5: Center here in Atlanta, and JD happened to be on
- 17:42Speaker 5: the detail of Ali that night, and every gangster in
- 17:45Speaker 5: the world was coming to Atlanta. And there's one in
- 17:47Speaker 5: particular named Frank Molten who's from New York City who
- 17:52Speaker 5: Sam Jackson plays, and then his henchman is Terrence Howard,
- 17:56Speaker 5: who has a motherfucking perm and it's so called old
- 18:00Speaker 5: with this flip Pern. You never knew by the way,
- 18:03Speaker 5: you needed Sam Jackson and Terance Howard in anything.
- 18:06Speaker 4: Terrence Howard retired from acting. No, no, that's what he said, retired.
- 18:10Speaker 5: He did not. He showed up and showed out Harvey
- 18:15Speaker 5: in this thing. Lloyd Harvey's playing Lola Felana. Chloe Bailey's
- 18:18Speaker 5: in it, but you know, and crazy Taraji P. Hills.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I know, y'all connected.
- 18:22Speaker 5: No, everybody had.
- 18:25Speaker 6: A different idea for this at first, right.
- 18:28Speaker 5: So the project came to me Originally I heard about
- 18:33Speaker 5: it working with Dallas Austin and Dave Gates. And then
- 18:37Speaker 5: when I went to go launch VOW Television, I was
- 18:39Speaker 5: trying to find all the IP and all the stories
- 18:42Speaker 5: I had ever heard that I wanted to do, and
- 18:45Speaker 5: I was thinking about Fight Night because I'm like, you know,
- 18:48Speaker 5: into that til Icebox got robbed a couple of years ago.
- 18:51Speaker 5: That was the biggest heist in Georgia history, and that
- 18:53Speaker 5: was nineteen seventy, so it always stayed in my mind.
- 18:56Speaker 5: I'm a seventies baby, like I have an affinity for
- 18:58Speaker 5: the air style, music, fashion, et cetera. So I just
- 19:02Speaker 5: went to go find it, thought Dallas still had it.
- 19:06Speaker 5: He didn't have the life right. So I went and
- 19:07Speaker 5: found Jeff Keating through Dave Gates and we were locked
- 19:11Speaker 5: in and Will Packard saw the vision from the from
- 19:13Speaker 5: the door. We had a Universal had given us a
- 19:16Speaker 5: film and at first so we had a film project
- 19:19Speaker 5: at Universal. It didn't go through. We had a whack
- 19:22Speaker 5: ass script. And then ironically, Kevin Hart was coming out
- 19:26Speaker 5: with Uptown Saturday Night, which is based off of our story,
- 19:29Speaker 5: but you know, Uptown Saturday Night is the news clippings whatever.
- 19:32Speaker 5: And so the fiftieth anniversary was coming up of the Fight,
- 19:35Speaker 5: and we did a podcast and the podcast went crazy
- 19:40Speaker 5: and literally ignited all the interests. We'll call keV was like,
- 19:44Speaker 5: you know, you want to do this with a since
- 19:45Speaker 5: you're not doing your projects, like absolutely, and then to
- 19:48Speaker 5: your point, we have every black superhero on the planet.
- 19:51Speaker 5: We have Sam Jackson, Kevin Hart, to Rogi p Henson,
- 19:55Speaker 5: Terrence Howard, don She, We have sin Kwah Walls, Melvin
- 19:59Speaker 5: Gregg who played man Boy, Miles Bullock who was on
- 20:02Speaker 5: BMF and was part of the We had had Chloe
- 20:09Speaker 5: Bailey kilt It, Lori Harvey playing Lola Falana. We had
- 20:12Speaker 5: actions which this guy is unbelievable. Wait you see his
- 20:16Speaker 5: parent Do you see my afro? I'm playing you got afro?
- 20:19Speaker 1: That?
- 20:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm playing cat.
- 20:20Speaker 3: That episode through there was real question is this is this?
- 20:24Speaker 3: Is this where you're at now? Is this where Kenny Burns,
- 20:27Speaker 3: the great Kenny Burns? Is this where another notch in
- 20:29Speaker 3: your belt of the notch? I think it's just that
- 20:33Speaker 3: it doesn't make you feel bubbly inside, like, well.
- 20:35Speaker 5: Oh must it took? You know, I've been involved with
- 20:38Speaker 5: this project twelve years. Thirteen years, so it didn't long.
- 20:42Speaker 3: That's a long time. But that's also a note for
- 20:45Speaker 3: people to understand. Sometimes it take a long time for
- 20:47Speaker 3: something to come to fruition, like that question. Pretty sure
- 20:50Speaker 3: you have been planning this that whole time.
- 20:52Speaker 5: And had a lot of stuff going on while this
- 20:54Speaker 5: was still on the tables. I mean, we had a
- 20:56Speaker 5: feature at Universal that goes away. We've got a podcast
- 20:58Speaker 5: with iHeart Sus to deal with Peacock, right, So big
- 21:02Speaker 5: shot to Peacock in Universal obviously, But it's just a
- 21:05Speaker 5: testament to stand down, you know, for what you believe.
- 21:07Speaker 5: And this is not a game of you know, get
- 21:11Speaker 5: discouraged and move on. I know this generation likes to
- 21:13Speaker 5: just throw it away and start over, you know what
- 21:15Speaker 5: I'm saying. But you got to stay down. If you
- 21:16Speaker 5: want to get down, and.
- 21:17Speaker 1: This isn't your first you know, go at it as
- 21:20Speaker 1: far as film and television.
- 21:22Speaker 6: Because you gave Dame Dash the idea.
- 21:26Speaker 1: For Paid in Full.
- 21:28Speaker 5: I actually gave him the script, introduced him to as
- 21:32Speaker 5: the original a z that wood Hare has played in
- 21:35Speaker 5: the movie, and took him down to John Street when
- 21:37Speaker 5: they were still on John Street. This is how far
- 21:39Speaker 5: I go back to.
- 21:41Speaker 3: So you gave him the whole idea for Paid the Full.
- 21:43Speaker 5: I introduced him too. Well, well what ended up being
- 21:47Speaker 5: wood Hairs. His character's name is Azy. He the one
- 21:49Speaker 5: got shot in the face. Yeah, so he was still alive. Still,
- 21:51Speaker 5: it's still alive down met.
- 21:54Speaker 6: But you didn't get any credit for that.
- 21:55Speaker 5: I didn't get any credit. And you know that was
- 21:57Speaker 5: more young and these are my I just want to roll.
- 22:01Speaker 5: I end up seeing them three or three years later
- 22:04Speaker 5: on Seventh Avenue.
- 22:05Speaker 3: He's like, you're get in the car. I was like,
- 22:06Speaker 3: where are we going.
- 22:07Speaker 5: It's like we're going to the premiere and paying for
- 22:10Speaker 5: I'm like bitch, you're supposed to call me for my role.
- 22:14Speaker 3: But there's a lot of things you didn't get credit for.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Wait, did you even get a check from that?
- 22:18Speaker 5: I ain't get on check either. I mean, I feel
- 22:21Speaker 5: like anything that's for you is for you. You just
- 22:24Speaker 5: gotta you know, pay your dues in a sense and
- 22:27Speaker 5: also learned. I mean, even with this project, I should have,
- 22:30Speaker 5: you know, been a lot higher on the ranking as
- 22:34Speaker 5: far as I'm concerned. But then you don't know the game.
- 22:36Speaker 5: You gotta come on the movie Fight Night. Yeah, I mean,
- 22:39Speaker 5: I'm exactly producer. I'm called exactive producer, but i mean,
- 22:42Speaker 5: like on a call sheet, Well, no, I'm on everything.
- 22:45Speaker 6: He's everything.
- 22:46Speaker 3: There's always levels, gotcha.
- 22:48Speaker 5: There's a real packer level in this particular situation, Kenny
- 22:51Speaker 5: Burns levels, gotcha. But you know, like you said.
- 22:54Speaker 6: It's a fish out of water and you are learning
- 22:56Speaker 6: as you go.
- 22:57Speaker 5: And that's what I want to encourage all entrepreneurs to do.
- 23:00Speaker 5: You know, It's like you you have to be in
- 23:02Speaker 5: the game to play, and a lot of you want
- 23:04Speaker 5: to hold everything you know so tight, as if there's
- 23:08Speaker 5: nothing else for you to have, and that's just not
- 23:10Speaker 5: real life.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Real quick I just want to say, while we're on Rockefeller,
- 23:14Speaker 1: Dame Dash is going through a lot as far as
- 23:17Speaker 1: his rights being.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Taken, the stock that he owns, his ownership, yeah, the
- 23:20Speaker 4: stock in basically.
- 23:21Speaker 5: He owes some money. Yeah, and he's trying to sell
- 23:24Speaker 5: his portion of Reasonable Doubt. And uh, it's sad, you know,
- 23:30Speaker 5: to be in a position, you know, where you are
- 23:34Speaker 5: now having to sell a piece of your legacy, right,
- 23:37Speaker 5: because reasonable Doubt is have you know, a couple of
- 23:41Speaker 5: decades old, right, and it's a treasure. It's one of
- 23:45Speaker 5: the greatest rap albums from one of the greatest artists ever,
- 23:48Speaker 5: and you were a part of that. So I feel
- 23:49Speaker 5: bad that he's even in the position where he has to,
- 23:53Speaker 5: you know, relinquish some type of asset or that type
- 23:55Speaker 5: of asset. Right. The other thing is I would they
- 24:00Speaker 5: had a better relationship so that he could go to
- 24:03Speaker 5: J and be like, Jay, look, I just want to
- 24:04Speaker 5: get rid of this bro. I need X, Y and Z.
- 24:06Speaker 5: You know, Like, how easy is that? And why wouldn't
- 24:09Speaker 5: Jay do it? I mean, he helps people he doesn't
- 24:11Speaker 5: even know out financially, right, And I'm sure a deep
- 24:14Speaker 5: down he would help, you know, And you think is ego.
- 24:19Speaker 5: Thing is ego. It's also the life you create for yourself,
- 24:21Speaker 5: right if you are out here, voice loud and you know,
- 24:26Speaker 5: saying all the things dam has said. I mean, how
- 24:28Speaker 5: can he not you know, catch some heat, you know,
- 24:31Speaker 5: And like I said, I just feel bad because I
- 24:33Speaker 5: know them both, and I know his heart is gold,
- 24:35Speaker 5: you know what I mean, what he intends to do
- 24:38Speaker 5: is gold. Don't know Jay as well as I know
- 24:41Speaker 5: Damon and Biggs. But anytime I've you know, been around Jay,
- 24:47Speaker 5: you know, the last you know, since reasonable doubt, I've
- 24:50Speaker 5: only seen him be charitable. I've only seen him, you know,
- 24:54Speaker 5: put on a culture in the most respectable way. So yeah,
- 24:58Speaker 5: I just I hate to see. But that's why I
- 25:01Speaker 5: left Rockefeller too, because when they started to split, it
- 25:03Speaker 5: was no longer.
- 25:04Speaker 3: You know, what was your actual position at I.
- 25:07Speaker 5: Was a vice president of Rockefeller and I was the
- 25:09Speaker 5: president of rock Music. So Nicole, ray Reil, Allen, Anthony,
- 25:13Speaker 5: Kanye West. At first they were all.
- 25:16Speaker 3: You had the first version of Kanye West him, he
- 25:18Speaker 3: came in.
- 25:19Speaker 5: I tried to sign Kanye when he when he was
- 25:21Speaker 5: with a group called the Go Getters. This was before Rockefeller.
- 25:24Speaker 5: Him GLC I forgot the other guy's name. But I've
- 25:27Speaker 5: been working with John Monopoly, don Cee, and Kanye since
- 25:29Speaker 5: I met my wife. Actually, I used to go hang
- 25:32Speaker 5: out with them when I met Jessica, I was courting her.
- 25:34Speaker 5: So yeah, I known everybody a long And actually me
- 25:37Speaker 5: and don Cee had a group called major League. Two
- 25:40Speaker 5: weeks we were in a rap group. Met him and
- 25:41Speaker 5: I got kofe.
- 25:42Speaker 2: For you was rapping.
- 25:44Speaker 5: I was never going to rap. That's why it lasted.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Two three weeks.
- 25:49Speaker 6: That's how we all start.
- 25:50Speaker 5: Yeah, we did that. We did the whole thing. Yeah,
- 25:52Speaker 5: I got the photos. We got to see it'll be
- 25:57Speaker 5: on the episode when I said.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Yeah, that so of the Kenny byrn Show. Now it's
- 26:02Speaker 1: available as a podcast. But you know, like we were saying,
- 26:06Speaker 1: you started that vyting, you left and you came back,
- 26:08Speaker 1: and now it's just the Kenny burn Show on the podcast.
- 26:11Speaker 6: Is there anything else that you have coming up for that?
- 26:15Speaker 5: The Kenny Byrne Show is growing tremendously. We're actually building
- 26:17Speaker 5: a new studio. It'll be a yeah, whole set. Yeah,
- 26:23Speaker 5: we're building a set, will be coming up on our
- 26:27Speaker 5: hundredth episode. I've been blessed to monetize since month One.
- 26:33Speaker 5: Big shout to all of the McDonald's Smart Waters, Coca
- 26:36Speaker 5: Cola's Freedom Discover like you will. Yeah, a big shout
- 26:45Speaker 5: to pod Media. Uh, they're my partners that do my
- 26:47Speaker 5: ads sell. So it's been a really a really rewarding thing.
- 26:51Speaker 6: Shout out to Sugar and Kendrick.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Yeah, Doctor Sugar, Cheryl Ray Reed and Kendred Taylor the
- 26:58Speaker 5: co host on the show and have the table and
- 27:00Speaker 5: the nation. Honestly, because I don't know if everybody knows this,
- 27:03Speaker 5: but I gave sixty people an opportunity to be co
- 27:05Speaker 5: host of the Kenny Burn Show coming out of the
- 27:07Speaker 5: pandemic because of all the fruitfulness that came, you know,
- 27:10Speaker 5: out of that for me, social and digitally. So yeah,
- 27:13Speaker 5: so big shot to everybody. And we're in a great,
- 27:15Speaker 5: great position, no celebrity interviews, all community based discussions, which
- 27:21Speaker 5: I think is most important right now for sure, So
- 27:24Speaker 5: you know, just dealing with you know, real things. We're
- 27:28Speaker 5: in a very very different time and actually the episode
- 27:32Speaker 5: that just came out is uncharted territories. We all in
- 27:35Speaker 5: uncharted territories. We all are seeking new direction, new relationships,
- 27:40Speaker 5: trying new things, fulfilling you know, this new energy that
- 27:44Speaker 5: we've created for ourselves opportunities. So I just you know,
- 27:48Speaker 5: I see that growing and being you know, part of
- 27:50Speaker 5: my legacy and probably the thing I end on. I'm
- 27:53Speaker 5: going to continue to make films and television. We're working
- 27:55Speaker 5: on some things. Big Shot to Will Packer, big Shot
- 27:58Speaker 5: to Kenya Bears. I have some things.
- 28:00Speaker 2: I'll be announced heavy hitters.
- 28:02Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I don't play.
- 28:06Speaker 6: I do like sand on business though.
- 28:08Speaker 1: On your podcast, you be real about whatever you say
- 28:11Speaker 1: and you don't mind saying it. So I appreciate that
- 28:13Speaker 1: and being that it started in the pandemic. Another thing
- 28:15Speaker 1: that started was a club quarantine.
- 28:17Speaker 5: Yes, nice, Yes, listen, bro is the greatest damn show?
- 28:23Speaker 5: What is it?
- 28:23Speaker 3: What do you call yourselves?
- 28:24Speaker 5: Again? We got Nice and Burns and Nice and Burns.
- 28:27Speaker 3: The greatest show on Earth. I see the happening.
- 28:29Speaker 5: No, we've definitely said that. Okay, yeah, we definitely said that.
- 28:32Speaker 5: And I truly believe he and I are the greatest
- 28:34Speaker 5: show on Earth.
- 28:34Speaker 2: I mean, that's y'all, y'all.
- 28:36Speaker 5: But I just want to say this, y'all, like and
- 28:38Speaker 5: this is you know, you're a host, You're a host.
- 28:40Speaker 5: You're a host, you're all in media, you understand the
- 28:42Speaker 5: value of people. Right. I've never in my life experienced
- 28:45Speaker 5: anything like Club Quarantine. I'm talking about literally, and I've
- 28:49Speaker 5: hosted before Club Quarantine, I hosted the Arenas Clubs. I've
- 28:54Speaker 5: done it all. But to do let's start with the
- 28:57Speaker 5: you know, Apollo Theater. I had never done Apollo there
- 29:00Speaker 5: prior to doing it with d I had never done
- 29:02Speaker 5: the Kennedy Center in my hometown of Washington, DC. The
- 29:05Speaker 5: first time my seventy five year old aunt saw me
- 29:07Speaker 5: host was at the fucking Kennedy Center with the live orchestra. Right,
- 29:12Speaker 5: I've never hosted Carnegie Hall, Like these are venues where
- 29:15Speaker 5: black folk couldn't go in. So to have that energy,
- 29:19Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying. First of all, we already
- 29:20Speaker 5: had our thing, right Nis and Burns is going to
- 29:22Speaker 5: be forever, right, but to have his new movement honestly
- 29:26Speaker 5: take him and propel him to where it's propelled him.
- 29:29Speaker 5: We're talking about the biggest DJ in the world. Prior
- 29:31Speaker 5: to that, he used to tell me I want to
- 29:32Speaker 5: be the biggest DJ in the world. And he literally
- 29:36Speaker 5: that happened. He was the most important DJ in the world, right,
- 29:40Speaker 5: So then you look at like life and then it's like, okay, cool,
- 29:43Speaker 5: We're we're doing these legendary landmarks. We're doing, you know,
- 29:46Speaker 5: all these amazing shows to tens of thousands of people
- 29:49Speaker 5: every time we show up in the city. So I
- 29:51Speaker 5: just want to give d as props man, because I
- 29:53Speaker 5: just feel.
- 29:53Speaker 3: A lot as the soundtrack. Yes, we were sitting at
- 29:57Speaker 3: home on his IG live.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Yes, and he was having like you know, we literally
- 30:03Speaker 4: watched him become a celebrity DJ.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Yes, bro, Like we literally remember he was already him.
- 30:10Speaker 4: I know Obama's I'm saying to like the people, like
- 30:13Speaker 4: to the average person, he's like like he was like
- 30:18Speaker 4: in the two hundred thousands following.
- 30:20Speaker 5: Follow Yeah they went to three million. Yeah easy, Yeah.
- 30:23Speaker 3: He was by the end of the summer. He was
- 30:26Speaker 3: at at least.
- 30:28Speaker 5: He deserves it because ain't gonna lie to you, bro, Like,
- 30:31Speaker 5: and you've been around DJs. You are a DJ. You
- 30:33Speaker 5: know you love music. Oh see, t you know how
- 30:36Speaker 5: impactful music could be. I've never met somebody to beat
- 30:39Speaker 5: when he's in like cans France. You know, we we
- 30:43Speaker 5: had club quarantines, the biggest party doing Canns lines right,
- 30:46Speaker 5: and my first year was last year, not this year.
- 30:48Speaker 5: Y'all saw it on Instagram the last two years. But
- 30:51Speaker 5: when I tell you, nobody in there like being from there,
- 30:56Speaker 5: you know what I'm talking about, and you got in
- 30:57Speaker 5: another country in the field. I mean, it's unbelievable, man,
- 31:02Speaker 5: what we do together. You know, I talked to I
- 31:04Speaker 5: talked the best ship in the world. He plays the
- 31:07Speaker 5: best music in the world, like and it's just a vibe.
- 31:10Speaker 5: So I just I love you, man, congrats on everything.
- 31:13Speaker 4: And it's always good energy like I had my first
- 31:15Speaker 4: my first chance was to see him DJ was at
- 31:18Speaker 4: Poppy last year and then this this past year for
- 31:21Speaker 4: the BT Awards. I was like, he actually a good dude,
- 31:25Speaker 4: like he does. You know, some people, you know, you
- 31:28Speaker 4: could tell, like, man, this person is his ship that
- 31:31Speaker 4: they just got They just talented. But this, you know,
- 31:34Speaker 4: d Nice is actually like a good person, good energy.
- 31:36Speaker 4: And that was my first time being around him, and
- 31:38Speaker 4: you know, first impressions is everything.
- 31:40Speaker 5: He's a great human man. And to know his story
- 31:43Speaker 5: when he does his documentary and you see where he
- 31:46Speaker 5: was mentally prior to the pandemic, man, it saved his
- 31:49Speaker 5: life too. When you see his documentary, his story, like
- 31:52Speaker 5: I'm telling you're going to be very inspired.
- 31:53Speaker 3: I question for you it was there ever any moment
- 31:57Speaker 3: in your career where you were just urg bruh, are
- 32:01Speaker 3: you kidding me? Last week?
- 32:04Speaker 5: No, I think it's I think it's something to be
- 32:08Speaker 5: said when you're an authentic being, right, when you're a
- 32:10Speaker 5: genuine person, and you don't get that authenticity or genuineness
- 32:14Speaker 5: from others. Right. So that's always been a problem for
- 32:16Speaker 5: me from the door. You know, you just you want
- 32:18Speaker 5: to give your all, your you leave with intent, You
- 32:21Speaker 5: show up for people, and then they don't show up
- 32:24Speaker 5: for you. You know. BT and I were talking prior
- 32:26Speaker 5: to It's like I got summons to a commercial the
- 32:29Speaker 5: other day, you know, talking about and it's like, well, damn,
- 32:31Speaker 5: I just text you about something. You know what sound like? Why?
- 32:35Speaker 5: You know? But it's weird like that. So you can't
- 32:37Speaker 5: take it personal, right, You can feel it, and I
- 32:39Speaker 5: suggest everybody always feel all the feelings. Know what disappointment, sadness,
- 32:45Speaker 5: being hurt, know what that feels like. But you can't
- 32:48Speaker 5: really trip because this is not an industry for you
- 32:50Speaker 5: to enter not knowing that these motherfuckers ain't shit or
- 32:53Speaker 5: don't have no real intention on being your friend. So
- 32:56Speaker 5: I think, you know, disappointment is a part of the game.
- 32:59Speaker 5: I wouldn't say there's you know, things that really turned
- 33:03Speaker 5: me up to the point where like, you know, I
- 33:04Speaker 5: mean you don't know, you know me long than anybody here,
- 33:06Speaker 5: but like if you knew me in my twenties, I
- 33:08Speaker 5: smacked the ship out of the moll buck like just
- 33:10Speaker 5: because it's about respect. There's no social media. What happens
- 33:13Speaker 5: here stage here. No, I'm dead serious.
- 33:17Speaker 3: I'm dead serious. Whoever know me?
- 33:22Speaker 5: And the thing about it is is like you can't
- 33:24Speaker 5: you can't be that person at a certain age. You
- 33:27Speaker 5: can't fly off the handle. So you better learn how
- 33:30Speaker 5: to deal with disappointment. You better learn how to deal
- 33:32Speaker 5: with frustration. And it's gonna come from people close to you.
- 33:36Speaker 5: It's gonna come from you know, family members.
- 33:40Speaker 3: You just got to be able to pivot.
- 33:41Speaker 5: Man. Yeah, And that's a lot of times. And this
- 33:44Speaker 5: is why I feel sorry for y'all. I know you
- 33:46Speaker 5: was thirty, nigga, this is crazy. But your generation, you know,
- 33:50Speaker 5: but your generation, y'all get to see everything about your superhero.
- 33:54Speaker 5: There's no mysterious nothing, there's no mistique. All the women
- 33:58Speaker 5: show you what they got, you ain't even got to
- 33:59Speaker 5: take it. So it's a weird place to be in
- 34:03Speaker 5: because then what is the actual genuineness of the relationship.
- 34:07Speaker 5: I've seen you do this, I know you do this,
- 34:09Speaker 5: I know your habits, I know who you hang with,
- 34:11Speaker 5: I know where you be. I don't like none of
- 34:13Speaker 5: that shit, So like, is it taking affinity away? You
- 34:16Speaker 5: know what I'm saying, is it taking the respect away?
- 34:18Speaker 5: So it's just a weird place to be and we're
- 34:19Speaker 5: in weird times. That's why you don't see me doing
- 34:22Speaker 5: a lot of shit no more. I do the right shit,
- 34:25Speaker 5: big black, temp pole black, excellent shit. I don't do
- 34:29Speaker 5: none of the nigga shit because the nigga shit needs
- 34:32Speaker 5: to die.
- 34:33Speaker 6: And you stand on business with that. Another thing you're
- 34:35Speaker 6: doing is no ordinary love an event that you put.
- 34:38Speaker 3: On quarterly fire.
- 34:40Speaker 5: Yeah, thank you, thank you.
- 34:41Speaker 3: I actually called you about that one. I went out
- 34:43Speaker 3: my way and called you.
- 34:44Speaker 5: No ordinary love is the way I feel about music,
- 34:47Speaker 5: the way I feel about you know, fashion, my people moments.
- 34:52Speaker 5: You know, there's no ordinary love to those feelings. Like
- 34:55Speaker 5: it's not you know, I always tell my wife I
- 34:57Speaker 5: love you, but it's something more and then as you
- 34:59Speaker 5: saw it documentary, I came with the word respect. But
- 35:02Speaker 5: knowing they love for me is an o to I'm
- 35:05Speaker 5: not done right. I don't want to do it all
- 35:07Speaker 5: the time, but when I want to do it, I'm
- 35:09Speaker 5: gonna turn the fuck up. So the last knowing their love,
- 35:12Speaker 5: I bought a limb price from Oyster Hut. People were like,
- 35:16Speaker 5: what is this? Then they ate the food like this motherfucker.
- 35:22Speaker 3: You know, you know it was a pool party.
- 35:24Speaker 5: It was a pool party. You know. We had all
- 35:26Speaker 5: the sections and the things, and nobody wanted to leave.
- 35:28Speaker 5: And big Shot the prong horn. They sponsored all the
- 35:31Speaker 5: ordinary loves but shout to my l So it's just
- 35:34Speaker 5: a gathering of like minded individuals who like to have
- 35:38Speaker 5: a good motherfucking time.
- 35:39Speaker 3: So what about Uncle Niar's Man?
- 35:42Speaker 5: The best investment I ever made?
- 35:45Speaker 3: Model Left of the house.
- 35:46Speaker 2: You know, whole bunch.
- 35:48Speaker 5: When I first told you all about that, keep those bottles.
- 35:53Speaker 5: If they have the house on it, it's done. Okay,
- 35:56Speaker 5: you have.
- 35:56Speaker 6: Yours, the brown and the white.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Brown in they thank you for telling me.
- 36:02Speaker 5: Now, No, I'm just saying that they're gonna be worth
- 36:04Speaker 5: some money because the new logo is the distillery logo
- 36:08Speaker 5: and the logos I gave you guys was the dan
- 36:10Speaker 5: Call Farmhouse. Yeah, which was the house that Jack Daniels
- 36:13Speaker 5: came as an orphan and he learned how to make
- 36:15Speaker 5: whiskey for. But there's means amazing, man's uh, you know,
- 36:19Speaker 5: we just I think it was just evaluated one point
- 36:21Speaker 5: one billion. For everyone who thinks I'm an ambassador, I.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Am an owner. And what you say, oh.
- 36:32Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's so wild because you know, I don't
- 36:34Speaker 5: be running around I don't have a one point one
- 36:36Speaker 5: billion dollars either, But.
- 36:37Speaker 2: I say that some people about to be calling you, but.
- 36:41Speaker 5: I have a couple of hundred thousand shares. You could
- 36:43Speaker 5: do the math. We started seventy five cents, it's now
- 36:45Speaker 5: thirty something dogs. So so the thing is though, like
- 36:49Speaker 5: when you was thinking, went to his calculator. But the
- 36:52Speaker 5: thing is like when you think about like, you know
- 36:54Speaker 5: Kenny Burns, you see him around these brands and for
- 36:56Speaker 5: so long, to even Rari's point earlier, it's like I
- 36:59Speaker 5: was making these other brands so and then billions came
- 37:04Speaker 5: through and I haven't consulted for another brand without ownership since.
- 37:07Speaker 6: And you have a new spirit and African Spirit.
- 37:10Speaker 5: Yeah, African portfolio actually by ab Gin. There are four
- 37:14Speaker 5: different gins has take care of my mentees.
- 37:20Speaker 3: That's my boy.
- 37:21Speaker 5: Yeah, and we have Boosovaka, which we have four skews,
- 37:23Speaker 5: one here in the States and three abroad. And we
- 37:26Speaker 5: just introduced uh single agave which is in African agave,
- 37:32Speaker 5: which is is not from the region of tequila, so
- 37:34Speaker 5: it cannot be called tequila. But it's some of the
- 37:36Speaker 5: best tequila we ever tasted.
- 37:40Speaker 2: I want to try it. I'm a tequila love. I
- 37:42Speaker 2: love me some tequila.
- 37:43Speaker 5: I got you say less.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I'm interested to see how you're going to roll it out,
- 37:46Speaker 1: because you're always doing something creative.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:48Speaker 5: No, these partners I have in this one, you know,
- 37:50Speaker 5: I on ten percent of that company. It ain't a
- 37:52Speaker 5: couple of hundred thousand shares, So let's hope this one
- 37:54Speaker 5: goes to one point one man, but also on tem
- 37:58Speaker 5: percent of Las Cream, the cor Haesian Creme Us inspired cream,
- 38:00Speaker 5: the Corps my partners from Haiti, but they live in Montreal.
- 38:04Speaker 5: But yeah, no, everybody's amazing these founders. Man. You know,
- 38:07Speaker 5: it's like faun. Faun is a fucking superhero, y'all. I
- 38:09Speaker 5: used to tell y'all about her, and I used to
- 38:10Speaker 5: tell you about the brand that you see all the stories.
- 38:12Speaker 5: I would tell you how she's so dynamic and what
- 38:15Speaker 5: she's done for women in spirits and women in business
- 38:17Speaker 5: in general. She has a new book, Love and Whiskey.
- 38:19Speaker 5: I suggest you all read it quickly. Super insightful. But yeah,
- 38:24Speaker 5: it's about having great partners, so I don't have to
- 38:26Speaker 5: be the end all be all. I don't have to
- 38:29Speaker 5: come up with all the marketing plans. Big shout to
- 38:31Speaker 5: Demola and Chris. They are young geniuses. I mean not
- 38:34Speaker 5: only with the liquid in the bottle, of design of
- 38:36Speaker 5: the bottle, of how they're rolling it out, and then
- 38:38Speaker 5: bringing on people that I've you know, mentored and taught
- 38:41Speaker 5: like Heze and Arianna Marie who you all know, she's
- 38:44Speaker 5: on the team as well.
- 38:45Speaker 3: They get it, man.
- 38:46Speaker 5: They move cases were I think we're at fourteen thousand
- 38:50Speaker 5: cases for last year. We'll double that this year. And
- 38:53Speaker 5: if anybody knows anything about spirits, that's when you know
- 38:56Speaker 5: people come knocking.
- 38:57Speaker 6: So I don't know nothing about spirit.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I know a little bit. I know what
- 39:01Speaker 3: you're talking about.
- 39:02Speaker 5: Forteen thousand cases, I don't know, But sound good de
- 39:06Speaker 5: Leon might not have done fourteen thousand cases with all
- 39:09Speaker 5: the marketing and support that they've.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Haund that people might come calling you to knock everybody's.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Phone. Don't stop ringing. It's just about making the right
- 39:17Speaker 5: decision how you want to play the game. Thanks.
- 39:20Speaker 1: So, is Spirits still like a you know, just for
- 39:23Speaker 1: the audience? Is it still like a booming business?
- 39:26Speaker 5: Spirits is a very loocative business. It's like selling drugs.
- 39:29Speaker 5: I mean, you know, the markup is.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Incredible because at one point we had, like the movement
- 39:34Speaker 1: he had with.
- 39:38Speaker 5: Those were movements that led the movement right. So if
- 39:41Speaker 5: those were the ones who got the favor first. You know,
- 39:43Speaker 5: what Puff deal with some Rock will arguably go down
- 39:46Speaker 5: in history. What you know fifty was doing was getting
- 39:50Speaker 5: his feet wet. He I don't think he did what
- 39:52Speaker 5: Puff did. But now you have real founders that have
- 39:55Speaker 5: real stories to tell and passionate about serving, you know,
- 39:59Speaker 5: even like what spear Head Spirits with, you know, Ba
- 40:02Speaker 5: Singo and Vusa. We want to see Africa in every backbar,
- 40:05Speaker 5: like when you drink amarula that's not owned by a
- 40:07Speaker 5: black man in South African, but it's not owned by
- 40:10Speaker 5: you know, a black Man or black you.
- 40:12Speaker 3: Know, like Lebron with Lobos, Lebron.
- 40:14Speaker 5: With Lobos, So you have other people in the game.
- 40:16Speaker 5: So I think now, to your point and to your statement,
- 40:18Speaker 5: it is a movement, we have way more people with
- 40:21Speaker 5: you know, the right intent and the right kind of
- 40:24Speaker 5: idea of what to do in the business. I do
- 40:26Speaker 5: think it gets kind of congested when you got like
- 40:29Speaker 5: people making local sweet potato vodka and just and it's
- 40:32Speaker 5: cool and there's nothing wrong with that, but I think
- 40:34Speaker 5: it's like, you know, it clutters up the just like
- 40:36Speaker 5: Instagram on social media. Stop yeah, and if you if
- 40:40Speaker 5: you have a real story. But I feel, and I
- 40:43Speaker 5: don't know how you got it, but I feel all
- 40:46Speaker 5: around the world is congested with creatives from every industry
- 40:51Speaker 5: because now you're being shown that you can be this
- 40:55Speaker 5: successful right by looking at something, and that's false.
- 40:58Speaker 2: It looks easy on TikTok, it looks easy.
- 41:00Speaker 6: On I think anybody is feeling like whatever I got
- 41:03Speaker 6: to do not to go to work.
- 41:04Speaker 5: That's and that's a fact. And that's because guess what
- 41:07Speaker 5: with these brands, you have to do. You have to work.
- 41:08Speaker 5: You have to You don't see Kenny Burns not working
- 41:11Speaker 5: you don't see farm weave are not working. You don't
- 41:13Speaker 5: see people that you respect in business not working. I'm
- 41:16Speaker 5: always working, you know what I'm saying. And it's like
- 41:19Speaker 5: that's the problem. So when you have creative congestion, you
- 41:24Speaker 5: have fall off, right, Like you know, people talking about
- 41:27Speaker 5: influencers aren't necessarily no more well no, the word influencers
- 41:30Speaker 5: are necessarily. There's always going to be an influencer. There's
- 41:32Speaker 5: always going to be somebody leading the charge having the
- 41:35Speaker 5: connection being you know, the point person right.
- 41:37Speaker 3: True definition of what that means exactly.
- 41:40Speaker 4: But my thing is is, Kenny, if everybody is an influencer,
- 41:42Speaker 4: who they influencing?
- 41:44Speaker 5: Well, that's the problem. You don't know. I mean, you
- 41:46Speaker 5: sound crazy to most people with it rings true in
- 41:49Speaker 5: my head. What you just said is so important because
- 41:52Speaker 5: I don't think people understand what you're saying. I'm gonna
- 41:53Speaker 5: break it down. You have all these people that say
- 41:56Speaker 5: they're influencing something, right, and most of them might get
- 41:59Speaker 5: a chair on some way, but it's not because they
- 42:02Speaker 5: deserve the check. It's because they know somebody and not
- 42:05Speaker 5: because they have a super ordained talent. It's because they
- 42:08Speaker 5: know somebody, and that's the problem with this creative congestion
- 42:12Speaker 5: because back in the day it was order. You have
- 42:17Speaker 5: to you have to build your way up to something.
- 42:19Speaker 5: Therefore you couldn't be knocked off. How many people you
- 42:21Speaker 5: see to get knocked off weekly?
- 42:23Speaker 2: Every week?
- 42:24Speaker 5: How many people have you seen in the last year
- 42:26Speaker 5: come and go. I'm talking about musically, I'm talking about everything, like,
- 42:30Speaker 5: it's not nothing sustainable.
- 42:32Speaker 3: I can say. In the media space, I just say,
- 42:34Speaker 3: like in the media space, you actually had to be
- 42:38Speaker 3: influential be in this space, and you have to start somewhere.
- 42:42Speaker 3: You have your talk and you could just talk in
- 42:46Speaker 3: the camera and you just had some clips that can
- 42:49Speaker 3: go viral. If you think about the algorithm, the algorithm
- 42:51Speaker 3: doesn't even suggest you people are watching past thirty seconds, and.
- 42:56Speaker 5: It's a lie. By the way, the algorithm is a lie.
- 42:58Speaker 5: They pinpoint, they push traffic away, they push traffic to
- 43:02Speaker 5: if you don't buy, If you don't buy, they don't
- 43:05Speaker 5: show but the thing. And this is why I think
- 43:08Speaker 5: at the end of the day, it's gonna go back
- 43:11Speaker 5: to real versus fake, because it's not sustainable. No one
- 43:16Speaker 5: can keep up this level of presentation and you're not
- 43:19Speaker 5: that you can't because you're gonna crash and burn. You're
- 43:22Speaker 5: gonna dumb out do something you weren't supposed to do.
- 43:24Speaker 5: You're gonna try some ship, will pp be scared, you
- 43:26Speaker 5: will do something to try to keep up, and it's
- 43:29Speaker 5: just not going to be. It's not gonna work out
- 43:31Speaker 5: to your advantage.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think Meta ruin the Internet.
- 43:36Speaker 5: I think they gave a lot of honestanding. But I
- 43:39Speaker 5: said they gave a lot of opportunity. It's what we're
- 43:42Speaker 5: doing with It's how we're crashing and burning. It's like
- 43:46Speaker 5: the music business. Everything gotta be misogynistic. Everything got to
- 43:49Speaker 5: be death. There's no feel good nothing, you know what
- 43:53Speaker 5: I'm saying, And that's why there is.
- 43:55Speaker 3: We are. There is, but it's not. It's not magnified,
- 43:58Speaker 3: like cities should be way bigger than she is. But
- 44:02Speaker 3: the ladies talking about the things that's trending that gets
- 44:08Speaker 3: more attention.
- 44:09Speaker 5: Which she shouldn't because you respect her more than you
- 44:11Speaker 5: respect but.
- 44:12Speaker 3: Respect her more so that she should get magnified.
- 44:15Speaker 5: Well, you should be you and people like you should
- 44:17Speaker 5: be the evangelist.
- 44:19Speaker 3: I think it should be more.
- 44:20Speaker 6: Have you seen sexy red?
- 44:22Speaker 3: Don't get me on that because you just get him.
- 44:25Speaker 6: And Sexy red Yah. I have not seen her music, but.
- 44:31Speaker 5: First of all, she has bops. I hate the representation,
- 44:36Speaker 5: you know, for for my black women. And I come
- 44:41Speaker 5: from the ghetto, and I don't believe you were ever
- 44:44Speaker 5: meant to stay in the ghetto. I don't believe your
- 44:46Speaker 5: mentality was ever meant to stay there. I don't believe
- 44:49Speaker 5: you should ever stay there because guess what, And I'm
- 44:52Speaker 5: talking about this version of the ghetto. Back in the day,
- 44:54Speaker 5: you took care of your ship in the hood. You
- 44:56Speaker 5: took care of your ship. You weren't, you know what
- 44:59Speaker 5: I mean. Like, I've seen people with four bedrooms in
- 45:01Speaker 5: the hood look better than four bedrooms in the penthouse,
- 45:04Speaker 5: just because of the way they took care of their surroundings.
- 45:07Speaker 5: But we have this false sense of identity that we're
- 45:10Speaker 5: supposed to be fucked up and that if you don't
- 45:13Speaker 5: get money, you ain't shit. And that's all music is betraying.
- 45:17Speaker 5: And she just happens to be one of the queens
- 45:20Speaker 5: of that era. And it's to me, it's unsettling because
- 45:24Speaker 5: when you got to double down. I don't know if
- 45:25Speaker 5: y'all saw that viral clip a NBA young Boy, Meek Mill.
- 45:28Speaker 5: It was somebody else basically talking about how they were
- 45:31Speaker 5: push to be demonic. They were push to say it's
- 45:35Speaker 5: viral clip, it's a viral clip, and they were being pushed.
- 45:39Speaker 5: Now when I heard NBA young Boy, Cause y'all remember
- 45:41Speaker 5: when we were doing this, I used to go on
- 45:42Speaker 5: NB A young boy all the time, like why is
- 45:43Speaker 5: he retarded? Like I don't want him to be retarded?
- 45:47Speaker 5: But it's like you doubling down on it.
- 45:48Speaker 6: He said.
- 45:49Speaker 5: I was made to feel like I had to make
- 45:51Speaker 5: that type of music to get money. But guess what's
- 45:53Speaker 5: happening right now. It ain't about the art no more.
- 45:56Speaker 5: It's about money.
- 45:56Speaker 2: It's about the money.
- 45:57Speaker 5: And so when you have you know, I don't know,
- 46:00Speaker 5: y'all seen the clips of the Asian groups, you know,
- 46:05Speaker 5: done don thin They had the groups and all the
- 46:07Speaker 5: and they trying to look like the black version or whatever,
- 46:10Speaker 5: and it's likeakdancing. Yeah that right there, child, That was
- 46:14Speaker 5: That's a whole other episode. That wasn't even breakdancing. But
- 46:16Speaker 5: the point I'm trying to make is you see these
- 46:18Speaker 5: people identifying with the worst of us, and we still
- 46:22Speaker 5: running culture. So it's like, all right, it got to
- 46:25Speaker 5: be a setup. It can't be that this is art
- 46:28Speaker 5: and this is cool. Again, sexy makes bops. If she
- 46:31Speaker 5: could rap in the verses and had him hooks, do
- 46:33Speaker 5: you not think she had the same the same outcome.
- 46:36Speaker 5: She probably make more money, She probably had more endorsements.
- 46:39Speaker 5: But don't nobody. Nobody's telling her that, you know what
- 46:41Speaker 5: I'm saying. Lotto, great example, Glo Rilla, great example rap
- 46:46Speaker 5: Like to me, they the hardest out Megan great example,
- 46:50Speaker 5: can really rap god talent.
- 46:52Speaker 3: I mean, do I think.
- 46:53Speaker 5: That the ticket needs to stop just for two weeks?
- 46:54Speaker 5: I mean, we just need but other than that, but
- 46:58Speaker 5: other than that, but because guess what, look at what
- 46:59Speaker 5: they did the Glorrilla. They tried to make her vixen,
- 47:02Speaker 5: and it was like, nah, yeah, glow top all that's
- 47:05Speaker 5: what you want from her, You don't want, you know
- 47:08Speaker 5: what I mean, sexy glow at the bet Awards on
- 47:11Speaker 5: some lips archer.
- 47:13Speaker 3: That's not her.
- 47:14Speaker 6: That's sexy red though, and that's that's representation of the hood.
- 47:20Speaker 3: Let me also, can we also give them time to
- 47:24Speaker 3: evolve because she's still extremely new.
- 47:26Speaker 5: No, just my whole thing is and I know I'm
- 47:29Speaker 5: at the guy of collegists trying to see what's going
- 47:32Speaker 5: on with a box. I'm in the car smoking weed
- 47:36Speaker 5: with the baby in the back seat. I'm pregnant and
- 47:38Speaker 5: I'm looking for a baby daddy. We can't keep celebrating
- 47:41Speaker 5: this shiit.
- 47:41Speaker 3: No, I got you. I agree. But I do think
- 47:45Speaker 3: in the hood, growing up in the hook is just
- 47:47Speaker 3: I did too. People do evolve and change as they
- 47:50Speaker 3: get Oh so I think we should give her some time.
- 47:53Speaker 3: Are giving her time? I don't think. I don't think
- 47:56Speaker 3: that's gonna last for her to continue to keep rapping
- 47:58Speaker 3: about the exact same thing. I think.
- 48:00Speaker 6: I do believe I think rapping. I think you're talking
- 48:04Speaker 6: about that exact I'm not.
- 48:05Speaker 5: Ain't talking about what she rapping about because again she
- 48:08Speaker 5: has bops. I'm gonna give you time to grow. THEO
- 48:10Speaker 5: be crazy. No, the box is crazy. But listen, if
- 48:13Speaker 5: you're living a certain thing that people are emulating, it's
- 48:16Speaker 5: like it's like me to you if I told you know,
- 48:18Speaker 5: let's be one hundred percent, I've been with you through
- 48:20Speaker 5: all your relationships. I mean, well, I want you through
- 48:25Speaker 5: your whole relation right. If I were going to be
- 48:26Speaker 5: a dirty dick nigga telling you to be a dirty
- 48:28Speaker 5: dick nigga. Do you think you would have been a
- 48:30Speaker 5: dirty dick nigga seeing me be successful? No, but I've
- 48:33Speaker 5: been married twenty five years. How are you pattering your life?
- 48:37Speaker 5: Am I lying?
- 48:38Speaker 4: So?
- 48:39Speaker 3: The exactly that shit matters?
- 48:40Speaker 5: Got you?
- 48:41Speaker 2: What my thing is? This why we can't hold labels
- 48:43Speaker 2: accountable because they fuel.
- 48:46Speaker 5: You don't listen to the Kenny burn Show. I do
- 48:48Speaker 5: not say all the time.
- 48:50Speaker 3: Let me also say, she has an audience and they
- 48:55Speaker 3: are literally buying when she's selling.
- 48:57Speaker 5: No, exactly the bop is going to make her relevant.
- 49:01Speaker 3: When she stops in the vaults, It's going to be
- 49:03Speaker 3: somebody else that takes that spot. But that's not a
- 49:05Speaker 3: spot that should be filled.
- 49:06Speaker 5: There's a spot that should be destroyed, should be destroyed.
- 49:09Speaker 3: It has to be like that.
- 49:11Speaker 5: Let me tell you what's Happeningtnately, I love you, I'm
- 49:14Speaker 5: with you. But this is why Donald Trump exists.
- 49:17Speaker 7: We'll be right back with more of The Baller Alert Show.
- 49:22Speaker 7: You're listening to a special edition of The Baller Alert Show.
- 49:25Speaker 5: Baller Nation is the lifestyle Specialists aka the Culture Man,
- 49:28Speaker 5: Kenny Burns and Stay Tuned, Sexy Read and Donald Trump
- 49:32Speaker 5: are two peas. Think about what I'm saying. Donald Trump
- 49:38Speaker 5: in a political sphere can say whatever he wants. I mean,
- 49:43Speaker 5: he is committing political suicide in any other generation, I.
- 49:46Speaker 3: Agree with that.
- 49:47Speaker 4: And how many fellas he's been convicted of I believe
- 49:49Speaker 4: thirty seven.
- 49:50Speaker 3: No, he's not on a convicted failing. But he's saying.
- 49:53Speaker 5: He's saying the ship that white men have been spearheading
- 49:56Speaker 5: this entire time, but not saying out loud.
- 49:59Speaker 3: Do you want to blame it?
- 50:00Speaker 5: He said, you want a white president.
- 50:02Speaker 2: That's what he says.
- 50:03Speaker 5: She's a bit, that is what he said, like he's
- 50:06Speaker 5: saying things to get your head knocked off. So my
- 50:09Speaker 5: point is the reason I say that to peas in
- 50:13Speaker 5: the pot is because when you look at the dysfunctionalism
- 50:15Speaker 5: of the world, if the former president of the United
- 50:18Speaker 5: States is saying whatever he wants and it's he said
- 50:23Speaker 5: yesterday that Kamala Harris took away Christmas, it's almost like unbelievable.
- 50:29Speaker 3: There are people that will believe that.
- 50:32Speaker 5: They don't believe it, and they will act on it.
- 50:33Speaker 5: That's my point.
- 50:35Speaker 4: But he said that though he said he said, I'm
- 50:37Speaker 4: someone who can do whatever and say whatever, and people are.
- 50:41Speaker 3: He said he could go shoot someone in broad daylight.
- 50:44Speaker 5: This is two years prior to actually enacting it in
- 50:47Speaker 5: Congress with the Supreme Court. I'm well enacted with Supreme
- 50:50Speaker 5: Court that new thing they just passed. You could do
- 50:53Speaker 5: whatever you want to do to somebody and don't get
- 50:55Speaker 5: it twisted. If the president of the United States has
- 50:58Speaker 5: that autonomy, it's coming for the for the police next.
- 51:01Speaker 3: They're already doing it.
- 51:02Speaker 5: But my thing is like, what do you not see
- 51:04Speaker 5: the disruption of the world as we know it. The
- 51:07Speaker 5: point of sexy in equating them to each other is
- 51:10Speaker 5: because if you don't care about life, that, if you
- 51:15Speaker 5: don't care about yourself, how are you supposed to care
- 51:17Speaker 5: about life? And then if you don't care about life,
- 51:19Speaker 5: you don't care about your child's life, you don't care
- 51:22Speaker 5: about your surrounding, you don't care about your mom and
- 51:24Speaker 5: them were talking about people not having Social Security one
- 51:26Speaker 5: day and that type of energy gonna.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Get you through. Know you're a crash and burn.
- 51:30Speaker 5: So it's just I don't think people think it'd be like, yeah,
- 51:33Speaker 5: let's say have fun.
- 51:35Speaker 3: You know, I'm oh shit, And.
- 51:38Speaker 2: I don't think people want to think anymore.
- 51:40Speaker 4: I think I think people are so messed up, you know, financially,
- 51:44Speaker 4: that people don't want.
- 51:45Speaker 2: To think anymore.
- 51:46Speaker 4: People would rather, you know, use music, or use going
- 51:49Speaker 4: to the club, or use drinking every day.
- 51:51Speaker 5: I say use drugs because people that don't want to
- 51:53Speaker 5: feel they are addicted to something. There's not a person
- 51:58Speaker 5: that is sober that doesn't want to live a life
- 52:01Speaker 5: of prosperity and possibility. If you fucking don't care about life,
- 52:06Speaker 5: you just want to be high. You want to supplement
- 52:09Speaker 5: whatever is burning this side of you. And I feel
- 52:11Speaker 5: for those type people because lot of people can't get
- 52:13Speaker 5: out their own way. But the people that know better
- 52:15Speaker 5: got to do better. To your point, the label's got
- 52:17Speaker 5: to do better. You know, I'm saying to celebrate something
- 52:19Speaker 5: that's so destructive. When did you ever think you would
- 52:22Speaker 5: see women as misogicistic as men have always been?
- 52:25Speaker 3: Have you did?
- 52:26Speaker 5: I mean think about that.
- 52:27Speaker 3: I never thought it's been almost an evolution.
- 52:30Speaker 5: And then the corny motherfuckers, see this is how the
- 52:33Speaker 5: whole shit fucked up. Kanye West and them are responsible
- 52:36Speaker 5: for all this shit because you have frustrated nerves that
- 52:39Speaker 5: became superstars that downplayed all things they were taught because
- 52:45Speaker 5: that first girl he had that delta, the way he
- 52:48Speaker 5: loved his mom and how he showed up a college
- 52:50Speaker 5: dropouts who we need right now. But he turned into
- 52:53Speaker 5: the sex slave, fucking demonic, fucking whatever because he never
- 52:59Speaker 5: had that. See, somebody got pussy in high school. Don't
- 53:02Speaker 5: do that. Somebody that was cool play sports, had friends.
- 53:05Speaker 5: They don't do that. But these Elon musk, all these
- 53:08Speaker 5: motherfuckers crashing and burning, they created worlds. They created with
- 53:13Speaker 5: what's the guy from Facebook on him? He created a
- 53:17Speaker 5: world because a girl wouldn't talk to him.
- 53:21Speaker 3: He created the world.
- 53:22Speaker 5: And so look at what we're dealing with. We're dealing
- 53:24Speaker 5: with the world right that was created by people who
- 53:29Speaker 5: have no real intention to be loyal to other people,
- 53:33Speaker 5: show compassion, show grace. They want to control, they want
- 53:36Speaker 5: to have power. They don't want to exist. They want
- 53:38Speaker 5: to be better than And when you got one hundred
- 53:41Speaker 5: and ninety billion.
- 53:42Speaker 3: Dollars, you did it.
- 53:45Speaker 5: Got when you got warm Buffett money, They souced money.
- 53:50Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying, Zuckerberg, you don't have to
- 53:53Speaker 5: deal with nobody. So what happens the pawns in the game.
- 53:56Speaker 5: Elon must don't care about none of you motherfuckers. If
- 53:59Speaker 5: you own a Tesla, you should sell it. I'm gonna
- 54:01Speaker 5: tell you why you should sell it. I bought a
- 54:03Speaker 5: Tesla one hundred five thousand dollars. The motherfucker dropped the
- 54:06Speaker 5: price to eighty five thousand dollars. Not only was I
- 54:09Speaker 5: gonna get rid of the car because there was no
- 54:10Speaker 5: value in the motherfucker. They offered me twenty six thousand.
- 54:13Speaker 5: Now just bought a g Wagon twenty six thousand dollars.
- 54:15Speaker 5: They end up give me thirty because I had a
- 54:16Speaker 5: rhino paint job. But the cowell worthshit. And so if
- 54:20Speaker 5: a man is gonna take your money, then drop the price,
- 54:23Speaker 5: kill your value in your car. You want to support
- 54:25Speaker 5: that time motherfucker. And then he going crazy, he's supporting
- 54:28Speaker 5: the devil and like fuck you.
- 54:31Speaker 4: AND's and he's been biased because people who are on
- 54:33Speaker 4: Twitter x that's posting content positive content about Kamala Harris,
- 54:39Speaker 4: he's getting their content and their pace deleted.
- 54:41Speaker 5: Bro, it's not a real world.
- 54:43Speaker 3: The fucking truth curiated world by him, The truth that.
- 54:46Speaker 5: Is buried all the time. You see Dan Rather was
- 54:50Speaker 5: just you know og Dann Rather news anchor legend talks Monotone.
- 54:54Speaker 5: He was on with Sean Hennity and Sean Henny what
- 54:57Speaker 5: they were having a good conversation, seemed cordial, right, it's
- 54:59Speaker 5: a clip going around right now. Then all of a sudden,
- 55:01Speaker 5: you know, he says, well, you don't like what we do.
- 55:03Speaker 5: He's like, no, you're dangerous. Basically, you're not telling the truth.
- 55:06Speaker 5: You choose ideology over truth. The fuckings the real. It
- 55:11Speaker 5: is trump by fake. It's a world where you can
- 55:15Speaker 5: lie and and it becomes the truth. This is a problem.
- 55:19Speaker 5: That's because guys, why, no one's counter it's no countermeasures
- 55:22Speaker 5: no more. Back in the hood, when you grew up
- 55:24Speaker 5: and you lie, big homie is gonna smack this ship
- 55:27Speaker 5: out you or beat you up, and you can't lie
- 55:29Speaker 5: no more. And you can't lie no more because lying
- 55:31Speaker 5: was a fucking it was a sin.
- 55:33Speaker 3: It was a sin, you know what I'm saying.
- 55:35Speaker 5: But people lie every day, become the versions of themselves
- 55:38Speaker 5: they want to be through social and digital channels every day.
- 55:41Speaker 3: It's scary, you.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Know, and nobody cares because people still running around here
- 55:44Speaker 1: with them ugly cyber trucks, like, look at my pain job.
- 55:48Speaker 6: It's better than yours.
- 55:51Speaker 3: Over here. Like y'all really in the competition.
- 55:53Speaker 4: But think, but think about who they supporting, what you
- 55:56Speaker 4: support when you buy that test of truth, It's not
- 55:59Speaker 4: just about the truth. It's about who are you supporting,
- 56:01Speaker 4: who this money.
- 56:02Speaker 5: Going, And that matters. You're right, bt, it matters.
- 56:05Speaker 3: It matters.
- 56:06Speaker 4: It's like we always get black people always get all
- 56:08Speaker 4: this money. Soon we get all this money, we're gonna
- 56:10Speaker 4: give the money to the person that's suppressing your own
- 56:13Speaker 4: cons This is why.
- 56:14Speaker 5: Black people should realize that true superpower. We control the algorithm.
- 56:19Speaker 5: Nothing happens in culture without us because ignorantly we spend
- 56:24Speaker 5: the most ignorant. Yes, we dying to put it on ignorantly.
- 56:28Speaker 5: We are continuously proving it right.
- 56:31Speaker 3: And they laugh every time. They be laughing too.
- 56:34Speaker 4: I mean, think about the think about if I'm Elon Musk, right,
- 56:37Speaker 4: and I'm supporting this particular man, and I bought this
- 56:41Speaker 4: platform to tell all y'all to shut up, and I
- 56:43Speaker 4: could tell I.
- 56:44Speaker 5: Can literally forty four billion dollars to do it.
- 56:46Speaker 4: I can make all I can make all y'all voices
- 56:48Speaker 4: not be heard anymore. And then I put out a
- 56:50Speaker 4: truck and then all the black people that's rich it's
- 56:53Speaker 4: gonna support me, but I'm gonna suppress all your people
- 56:56Speaker 4: that ain't got the money that you got.
- 56:57Speaker 3: And you know what else.
- 56:58Speaker 5: And I want to say this because we are under
- 56:59Speaker 5: eighty day. I think one of day to days now
- 57:02Speaker 5: to this election. Black men, you really hating on KAMMONA Hers.
- 57:08Speaker 5: Black women, you really hating on Kamma Hers. Let's put
- 57:12Speaker 5: politics aside. Anybody who serves for the majority of their
- 57:18Speaker 5: life think about what I'm saying. Graduates from Howard University,
- 57:23Speaker 5: goes into law, becomes the attorney General, becomes a senator,
- 57:27Speaker 5: then the vice president of the United States, and now
- 57:29Speaker 5: is about to be president of the United States. You
- 57:31Speaker 5: don't see wonderment in that impossibility in now I'm talking
- 57:35Speaker 5: about as a black person. And I know the majority
- 57:38Speaker 5: of it is Russian bots in my comments, but anytime
- 57:41Speaker 5: I post it be detailed informations. I got to go
- 57:45Speaker 5: to these people page and they follow me, and I'm like, well,
- 57:47Speaker 5: I know you know how I get down.
- 57:48Speaker 3: You follow me.
- 57:50Speaker 5: And it's not a thing of like policy or things
- 57:55Speaker 5: that would have you not vote for somebody. It's personal.
- 57:58Speaker 5: It's personal. She don't she ain't black, Oh no, she
- 58:02Speaker 5: said she was in there. Oh no, no, she don't.
- 58:04Speaker 5: She don't fuck with black exam.
- 58:06Speaker 6: Even though she's a lawyer.
- 58:08Speaker 3: She don't.
- 58:08Speaker 5: She don't got no law degree. Huh, well, are you
- 58:12Speaker 5: reading what you're typing? So this is where we thoughtful
- 58:15Speaker 5: human beings got to show up for other thoughtful human beings.
- 58:19Speaker 5: I don't give a fuck about Democratic Party, Republican Party, Independent.
- 58:24Speaker 5: I want humans in place that I can relate to.
- 58:28Speaker 5: I want humans in place that have the right ideas
- 58:32Speaker 5: for my community. I want humans in place that's not
- 58:35Speaker 5: gonna give everything to the rich and wealthy. That if
- 58:37Speaker 5: you make one hundred and eighty nine billion dollars you
- 58:39Speaker 5: could give away eighty billion dollars and solve every problem
- 58:43Speaker 5: we have in the United States and not miss the money.
- 58:46Speaker 5: But yet you're giving them tax breaks. You could take
- 58:48Speaker 5: money and take the buildings downtown in Atlanta, Georgia that
- 58:51Speaker 5: are vacant, staff them, put every homeless person in that motherfucker,
- 58:55Speaker 5: every mental person, give aid to every flow, and it
- 58:59Speaker 5: wouldn't cost you to me dollars. I'm just saying certain
- 59:01Speaker 5: things can happen in life. But yet we talk. We're
- 59:05Speaker 5: talking about a black woman who's highly educated. That's worthy
- 59:09Speaker 5: of the position. And you know we're throwing darts, were
- 59:13Speaker 5: throwing we shooting bullets punintended, like.
- 59:16Speaker 3: What's going on? You got a man who faked an assassination.
- 59:19Speaker 5: Y'all listen.
- 59:20Speaker 1: If you're enjoyed this conversation, this is definitely a preview
- 59:24Speaker 1: of the Kenny Bird Show.
- 59:24Speaker 6: Find it wherever you get your podcast.
- 59:27Speaker 3: Man.
- 59:27Speaker 1: Another thing that you're doing is hosting the BMC Awards, Yes,
- 59:31Speaker 1: the b MAC Awards.
- 59:32Speaker 5: The amazing founders of that organization Man started to.
- 59:38Speaker 3: You know, Frank Justice Awards.
- 59:41Speaker 5: It is the Black Music Action Coalition and as founded
- 59:46Speaker 5: by Prophet and A shawna Ayres Tubby, a whole bunch
- 59:50Speaker 5: of amazing humans got together and wanted to bring justice
- 59:54Speaker 5: and rights back to songwriters and performers. And they honor
- 59:58Speaker 5: people who all over the you know, industry. Or this
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: year they're honoring Usher, they're honoring bt so Big Seat,
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: the Ken Page, Cannie or land On, all amazing people there.
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: And it is your ll cool J who, by the way,
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: last year he was in the audience and I think
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: I got him hype, and I think that's why he
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying, because I was literally on stage.
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: I couldn't believe he was there. So it was Flavor
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: flavoring him and I was like, Flavor Flag. I was like,
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: y'oll make some noise for Flavor Flame. And then I
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: told the fifteen hundred and nothing band, who's our amazing
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: band During the show, I was like, yo, I'm a rap.
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: I need love. I need you to just come on
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: in with the dude. Dude, so I got out there.
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: I was like, yeah, ll coolja is it makes some noise,
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: fellow cooch, I said'm gona try this. I want you
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: to help me out. When I'm alone in my room
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: sometime I stare at the ball and in the back
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: of my mind I hear my conscious call telling me

- 1:01:31Speaker 4: I just wanted to let you know that we need
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: more people like you in a position of power, in
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: a position of people who do have a voice and
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: use a voice for the right thing.
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: Yeah, thank you, and.

- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yeah, twenty five years.
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: What's the key communication and growing together? Because when you
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: grow apart, that's when the foundation gets cracks in it.
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: And that's also said in your latest podcast.
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: Yes, my latest podcast says that too. And I think
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: that you guys, you know, got to understand the relationships
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: are everything personal or business and we all need someone
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: so why not stay down with the person that knows
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: you best. I think we had that type of mentality.
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: You would always see the best in your significant other.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: I always wanted to tell you, to tell you in private,
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: but on camera.
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: Definitely.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: Kenny Burns is one of the people I call anytime
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: I make a really big decision. I don't think I've
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: ever made a decision the last ten plus years without
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: consulting with you. And then whenever I any motivation, I
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: go to your house.
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: Yeah, sit down, get your mind right, the trees in.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: The ground, his backyard is like, I'm over here, like, yeah,
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: I gotta get my backyard.
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: Lad.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: Remember I remember you were my motivation for my rocks.
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: Yeah, you're told me I.
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: Had the dealship. This is rich people talk right here.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: You rock city.
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: It's ethics.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: You.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: You have to create your surroundings to sustain, you know.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: To see that. I remember the first time I went
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: to his house, I said, whoa, I ain't gonna I
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: ain't gonna go too deep into it. But I was like,
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: I remember, I started writing. I had stopped to get
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: gas and I wrote down some motivational tips that I
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: need to do because I just need sometimes you need
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: that you do.
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: Definitely, we all inspire each other and that's the gag too,
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: And I want you youngins out there. Man, you gotta
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: have some o gs. How y'all, how are you supposed
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: to learn from their mistakes?
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: I keep around. I remember.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: Take that ship down when I was acting crazy on Instagram.
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: I don't really like addressing no hater or nothing like
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: that can't be so let me tell you.
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: Ever, hear me mention something and name somebody I want
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: you to know, because there's plenty of motherfuckers. I ain't
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: name it, right, No, No, I'm that serious because it's
- 1:04:00Speaker 5: not about it. It's not a pissing contest about who
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: I can shop. I go on every platform and talk
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: the most shit, right, But I don't. That's not what
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: you're supposed to do. You're supposed to tell stories that
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: help others get through a great bars like you literally
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: are supposed to help people with your stories. So occasionally
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: you mentioned a name that's gonna help somebody.
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: Damn.
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: He said it about Slim, he the most powerlem fucker radio.
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: Oh damn, he said it about such such such.
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: That's you know what I mean?
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: So okay, cool, I'm I'm it's a mental note that
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: I'm somebody. I don't have to be beholding to nobody.
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying, that's the key for that, let.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: Me know who to avoid. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: I appreciate people who we live in such a fake world, man,
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: and you you never know people because.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: You don't expect people to come and say to your face, right,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: But that's what thing I do. Yeah, and I don't
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: mind saying, you know what it is. And one thing
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: that I appreciate about you is that, Kenny, is that
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: you staying on business like I've been staying throughout this
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: whole episode.
- 1:04:54Speaker 6: Even when I first met you at the station. You know,
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: you had a mission.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: You came in and you did your thing, you know,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: work out, but you know you came back and you
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: did something way bigger and then they made them come
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: back for you. Like I said, I wouldn't expect me
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: to be here right now, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: But I take pride in anything that I do my
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: very best at it. And you know, even when you
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: was at V, it's like you you want to come over,
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: I don't want to, but we end up working together
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: on your podcast because I kind of like that better
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: versus the corporate thing.
- 1:05:26Speaker 6: Because I'm not a ready Rows fan either.
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: But I appreciate you to fix your life homes.
- 1:05:32Speaker 6: Yeah, but I appreciate you the authenticity. You know what
- 1:05:35Speaker 6: I'm saying.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: I forget what that one unquote that you always say,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: never let your expectations.
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: Exceed your efforts. Your dream y'all are in value. All
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: y'all to know that man, keep these voices alive, keep
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: speaking truth to power because you're not. Many people are doing.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: It, and big shot outs before we cannot leave this
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: what I mentioned in your future NBA stars, your son.
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: Kennya Kot, Kenny, Kyle out there. Kyle is at Dodd
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: City in Kansas, Kenny's in South Carolina doing his thing,
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: and I'm just proud of my boys. I raise some
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: good humans. I think this year was a defining year.
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: We've never been empty nesters. Kyle had his surgeries, Kenny's
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: had his knee surgeries, and somebody's always been home even
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: since high school graduation. So we're finally, you know, in
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: that where we feel like we're empty nesters. Right, So
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: it's you know, it's time to you know, for this
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: next chapter for everybody, and I'm super proud and happy
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: about it.
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: I love that man. Before we get out of here.
