Speaker 1: And this referee who is a little bit suspect if
• 0:06
Speaker 1: you check his if you check his past. I don't
• 0:08
Speaker 1: want to say that because I don't like to create controversy,
• 0:12
Speaker 1: but very suspect. If you'd let help provide you with
• 0:16
  Speaker 1: the pest.
• 0:17
Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
• 0:21
Speaker 3: Good Tuesday morning. Nice to have you with us on
• 0:23
Speaker 3: the forty seven Morning Update, and we've got very big
• 0:26
Speaker 3: breaking news. First up, Graham Platner is accused of breaking
• 0:30
Speaker 3: into a woman's house and sexually assaulting her. The campaign
• 0:34
Speaker 3: has now canceled multiple events, and Democrats are now saying, Okay,
• 0:40
Speaker 3: maybe you should drop out. So why did it take
• 0:43
Speaker 3: so long? We break down the timeline. It's the forty
• 0:46
Speaker 3: seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
• 0:49
  Speaker 2: Story number one.
• 0:50
Speaker 3: Graham Platner, the Democratic nominee for the US Senate in Maine,
• 0:55
Speaker 3: is now facing yet again another devastating allegation from a
• 1:00
Speaker 3: former partner, Jenny Rasiko, who told Politico that while she
• 1:05
Speaker 3: and Platner have been involved in an on and off relationship,
• 1:09
Speaker 3: in twenty twenty one, he allegedly entered her role main
• 1:13
Speaker 3: home uninvited one night while intoxicated, Platner allegedly forced himself
• 1:18
Speaker 3: on her while she repeatedly told him to stop. She
• 1:21
Speaker 3: told Politico, I remember him grabbing my pelvis and being
• 1:25
Speaker 3: really forceful of me. She explained that quote, I remember
• 1:29
Speaker 3: the specific moment where I thought to myself, like, this
• 1:32
Speaker 3: is no longer my choice. Platner, of course, has come
• 1:37
Speaker 3: out just like he has with all the other allegations
• 1:39
Speaker 3: against him, denying the allegations and calling it false and
• 1:43
Speaker 3: politically motivated. But the political fallout has now been immediate
• 1:48
Speaker 3: and severe. Democrats who were protecting him at all costs
• 1:53
Speaker 3: are now well saying, Okay, maybe it's time for him
• 1:56
Speaker 3: to get out of the race. And that is a story,
• 1:59
Speaker 3: not just the allegation itself, but the way the Democratic
• 2:02
Speaker 3: Party handled Graham Platner until it became politically impossible to
• 2:07
Speaker 3: keep pretending that this was somehow not a problem. Now,
• 2:12
Speaker 3: this was not the first red flag, and that's what
• 2:14
Speaker 3: voters need to remember. Platner had already faced scrutiny over
• 2:18
Speaker 3: to serving past online comments and allegations about his behavior
• 2:22
Speaker 3: towards women, and even a tattoo of the SS. Yes,
• 2:26
Speaker 3: the Nazi tattoo on his chest, which of course he
• 2:30
Speaker 3: said he did not understand at the time and later
• 2:32
Speaker 3: then covered it up. Yet there's video out there and
• 2:35
Speaker 3: others who said, oh, he knew exactly what it meant.
• 2:38
Speaker 3: And even with all of those allegations and problems, what
• 2:42
Speaker 3: did the Democratic Party do? Where the Progressives do, where
• 2:45
Speaker 3: the socialists do, where the communists do? They backed him
• 2:49
Speaker 3: and rallied behind him and kept giving him funding. They
• 2:54
Speaker 3: treated every warning sign like a Republican smear campaign instead
• 2:59
Speaker 3: of acting looking at the facts. Now, after this latest allegation,
• 3:05
Speaker 3: the same party that protected him is running for the exit.
• 3:09
Speaker 3: It reminds me a lot of Eric Swalwell in California,
• 3:12
Speaker 3: when they realized it could cost him the governor's mansion,
• 3:15
Speaker 3: they decided to turn on the guy they protected at
• 3:18
Speaker 3: all costs. Representative Roconne has now withdrawn his endorsement and
• 3:22
Speaker 3: urged Plantner to leave the race. Senator Reuben Diego, for example,
• 3:27
Speaker 3: as well as in Citizens United, they both now pulled
• 3:30
Speaker 3: their support. Main Democratic leaders are also calling on him
• 3:35
Speaker 3: to withdraw, saying the party needs to move on and
• 3:37
Speaker 3: focus on defeating the Republican Senator Susan Collins. So let's
• 3:43
Speaker 3: just be honest about what happened here. Democrats did not
• 3:46
Speaker 3: suddenly discover standards. They discovered liability. It's no different than
• 3:52
Speaker 3: what we saw in California. It is no different than
• 3:55
Speaker 3: we see almost every time a Democrat gets in trouble publicly.
• 4:00
Speaker 3: They don't care what you did as long as they
• 4:02
Speaker 3: feel like they can save you. But when they realize
• 4:06
Speaker 3: maybe you're too big of a liability, they'll immediately turn
• 4:10
Speaker 3: on you. And if you don't believe me, call Eric Swallwell.
• 4:13
Speaker 3: When the scandals were politically survivable, they will always defend you,
• 4:18
Speaker 3: and when the allegations become politically catastrophic, they'll abandon you instantly.
• 4:24
Speaker 3: It is truly the definition of hypocrisy. This is not
• 4:28
Speaker 3: moral clarity, is the point I want to make. This
• 4:31
Speaker 3: is simply a political calculation. And this is where the
• 4:35
Speaker 3: hypocrisy is impossible to ignore on a nationwide scale. This
• 4:40
Speaker 3: is the same Democratic party that lectures America constantly about
• 4:44
Speaker 3: believing all women, accountability, character, decency, and protecting victims. They
• 4:50
Speaker 3: run campaigns on moral superiority. They also say Republicans are dangerous, unfit,
• 4:56
Speaker 3: and disqualified over allegations or rhetoric or past behavior. But
• 5:00
Speaker 3: when the accused candidate has a D next to his
• 5:04
Speaker 3: name or her name, and it might help them win
• 5:07
Speaker 3: a Senate seat. Suddenly the standards they disappear. They don't
• 5:11
Speaker 3: even just become flexible. They just don't care. And then
• 5:15
Speaker 3: they always say this, well, we're going to let the
• 5:17
Speaker 3: process play out. Well, suddenly the process played out, and
• 5:22
Speaker 3: now they say, well, we need to look at the
• 5:24
Speaker 3: full context of everything. Well, now that we have more
• 5:28
Speaker 3: of the quote full context of grand Platner, you got
• 5:31
Speaker 3: to ask yourself this question, why is it there's such
• 5:35
Speaker 3: a big double standard, especially in the media when it's
• 5:38
Speaker 3: a Republican, they demand resignation before the ink is dry.
• 5:41
Speaker 3: On the headline, Platner has been well surrounded by controversy
• 5:46
Speaker 3: since the day he announced his candidacy, and now he
• 5:50
Speaker 3: is reportedly reassessing his quote unquote campaign because the Democrats
• 5:55
Speaker 3: have cut off the spickett the money and without money,
• 5:59
Speaker 3: how do you run now? Again, he has denied the
• 6:02
Speaker 3: allegations and has not immediately exited the race at the
• 6:05
Speaker 3: moment I'm recording this now, There's also something else that's interesting.
• 6:09
Speaker 3: Under Main's election rules, Democrats still have a short window
• 6:13
Speaker 3: to replace him, and that's really what this is about.
• 6:17
Speaker 3: If they can get him out of the race and
• 6:18
Speaker 3: he withdraws by July the thirteenth, then he's no longer
• 6:22
Speaker 3: their problem. They'll just throw someone else in there. It
• 6:25
Speaker 3: almost reminds me of Kamala Harrison Joe Biden, and the
• 6:29
Speaker 3: deadline explains a lot of the panic. This is actually
• 6:33
Speaker 3: organized panic, it's not actual. So all of a sudden,
• 6:37
Speaker 3: you're going to see the big headlines coming from the
• 6:39
Speaker 3: media as well. NBC Nightly News is going to be
• 6:42
Speaker 3: talking about this, and before they didn't discuss it at all.
• 6:47
Speaker 3: Why Because this is all about getting rid of a
• 6:51
Speaker 3: candidate that they believe now is a political liability and
• 6:55
Speaker 3: may not be able to win. And that's why they're
• 6:58
Speaker 3: doing it before July thirteenth. It's not about well moral clarity.
• 7:03
Speaker 3: Now it also is about the math, and the Senate
• 7:07
Speaker 3: map is really important. It's also about Susan Collins. It's
• 7:11
Speaker 3: about Democrats realizing they may have to nominate a candidate
• 7:14
Speaker 3: with well a lot less baggage and then maybe they
• 7:17
Speaker 3: would have a chance of beating Susan Collins. Now, remember
• 7:21
Speaker 3: this was supposed to be their political populous hero. Platner
• 7:25
Speaker 3: was sold by the same people that are destroying him
• 7:27
Speaker 3: now as a rugged outsider, as a veteran, as a
• 7:31
Speaker 3: fake oyster farmer, the left wing fighter who could take
• 7:35
Speaker 3: on the establishment. And to be clear, the most progressive
• 7:39
Speaker 3: Democrats embraced him as a movement candidate, a socialists, a communists.
• 7:45
Speaker 3: But now that movement has a major problem. The candidate
• 7:48
Speaker 3: that they elevated is engulfed in allegations and scandals that
• 7:53
Speaker 3: even they can overcome. The most revealing part is how
• 7:56
Speaker 3: fast the Democrats moved only after the allegation became public
• 8:01
Speaker 3: and then politically unavoidable. The party did not leave, It
• 8:05
Speaker 3: only reacted. It did not protect its standards, It protected
• 8:08
Speaker 3: its strategy until the strategy collapsed. And there's a deadline
• 8:12
Speaker 3: of the thirteenth to find that new candidate. That's the
• 8:15
Speaker 3: double standard voter should see again and again. And why
• 8:19
Speaker 3: would you vote for a party that does this. One
• 8:22
Speaker 3: set of rules for Republicans, another set of rules for Democrats.
• 8:26
Speaker 3: Now on the set of lectures, by the way, for
• 8:29
Speaker 3: the country. Many Americans should be really angry because Democrats
• 8:34
Speaker 3: now went credit for demanding Platnir step aside, after spending
• 8:38
Speaker 3: months ignoring the warning signs, brushing off all the scandals
• 8:42
Speaker 3: and pretending concerns about him were just right wing attacks.
• 8:46
Speaker 3: That's literally what they said. You don't get credit, by
• 8:49
Speaker 3: the way, for arriving late to the truth, and they
• 8:51
Speaker 3: knew the truth all along. You don't get credit for
• 8:54
Speaker 3: accountability only after the political cost becomes too high, because
• 8:58
Speaker 3: that's not actually accountability at all. And you don't get
• 9:01
Speaker 3: credit for pretending to be shocked when the concerns were
• 9:04
Speaker 3: already there. The bottom line is this, The story is
• 9:08
Speaker 3: bigger than one candidate in Maine. It's really about a
• 9:12
Speaker 3: Democratic party that claims to own the moral high ground
• 9:15
Speaker 3: while repeatedly lowering the bar for its own side. It's
• 9:19
Speaker 3: about the danger of partisan blindness and the media helping
• 9:24
Speaker 3: these stories disappear until they need them to get rid
• 9:28
Speaker 3: of their own. That's why this is well all about hypocrisy.
• 9:34
Speaker 3: There's also one other thing I'll say. If the Democrats
• 9:37
Speaker 3: were actually being honest right now about their standards, they
• 9:41
Speaker 3: would come out defending Graham, saying he deserves due process.
• 9:45
Speaker 3: They would say they're just allegations and deny them, and
• 9:49
Speaker 3: they would say that Democrats deserve the candidate they chose
• 9:52
Speaker 3: in Graham Platner to be their candidate on election day.
• 9:57
Speaker 3: But they're not doing any of that. Why Because this
• 10:00
Speaker 3: is all about politics, not about moral clarity.
