- 0:00Speaker 1: That's what we're dealing with right now. It seems like
- 0:03Speaker 1: they sell so fast I can't really keep them on
- 0:06Speaker 1: the ground. But that's all right, that's good business. And
- 0:10Speaker 1: we've got that. We are helping you guys with a
- 0:13Speaker 1: little lunch and learn event here next week or two weeks,
- 0:16Speaker 1: I guess, right, huh. And so that this is a
- 0:20Speaker 1: cool event, I thought because of it, you know, really
- 0:23Speaker 1: getting that in and seeing what happens in the center
- 0:28Speaker 1: and meeting the people and putting a face on this
- 0:31Speaker 1: issue and.
- 0:34Speaker 2: The impact that you guys have on people's lives.
- 0:38Speaker 3: It'll be July the twenty first to Thursday, from twelve
- 0:41Speaker 3: o'clock to one o'clock.
- 0:42Speaker 4: And we're calling it. I had no idea to her.
- 0:44Speaker 3: And basically, people drive by the lighthouse and they have
- 0:46Speaker 3: no idea what goes on there. And I like the
- 0:48Speaker 3: fact that we do interactive. It's not like you tour
- 0:50Speaker 3: an empty building and see what goes on and you
- 0:53Speaker 3: can see it. You set and eat with the business
- 0:55Speaker 3: and they're very open to share their stories and you
- 0:58Speaker 3: get to realize what they've gone through and how God's
- 1:01Speaker 3: working their life now. And so it's a very good time.
- 1:03Speaker 3: I appreciate just sponsoring this one. We have different sponsors
- 1:06Speaker 3: from time time to help pay for the meal, so
- 1:08Speaker 3: we could be bringing about twenty thirty people in outside
- 1:11Speaker 3: guests to serve the meal too, So looking forward to
- 1:14Speaker 3: that with you guys.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Thank you for sponsoring it.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Well, we're really proud to do that, you know. That's
- 1:18Speaker 1: one of those things. A couple of weeks ago, I
- 1:20Speaker 1: went to a Toyota meeting in Dallas and we did
- 1:24Speaker 1: a lot of work on growing and what in the
- 1:28Speaker 1: dealership environment, but we talked about the Toyota Way and
- 1:32Speaker 1: there's a part of one of the four pillars of
- 1:34Speaker 1: that is called gin Chi gimbutsu, which is go see
- 1:37Speaker 1: and see what's really happening and you know, and get
- 1:41Speaker 1: you know, put your walk in someone else's shoes a
- 1:43Speaker 1: little bit and understand their perspective on things. And I
- 1:46Speaker 1: think that lunch has got a lot of that in it.
- 1:49Speaker 3: It's been very successful and over the years, Dungeas has
- 1:52Speaker 3: helped us. We had years ago we had a fundraiser
- 1:55Speaker 3: called Dancing for a Cause. Remember that we sponsored that
- 1:58Speaker 3: at your showroom there and you spawdored it there and
- 2:00Speaker 3: that was a fun time and then we bought cars
- 2:02Speaker 3: from you.
- 2:03Speaker 4: We bought two cars from you, and you're.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Talking about the waiting list, you know, And this was
- 2:08Speaker 3: back when cars were There was quite a long delay.
- 2:11Speaker 4: And we had a grant to buy a van. And
- 2:14Speaker 4: then a lady came into.
- 2:15Speaker 3: The office a week before with a sizeable check from
- 2:18Speaker 3: her dad's inheritance and she wanted to.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Give it to us.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I said, well, can I take part of that and
- 2:22Speaker 3: buy a car, And so went out there and one
- 2:24Speaker 3: day bought a car and a van and got him
- 2:27Speaker 3: that week. And so it does happen. You can get
- 2:30Speaker 3: quickly along with that. I saw Armadillergate Clark across.
- 2:33Speaker 4: The miracles do happen.
- 2:36Speaker 3: But the car gets it's a hybrid, gets fifty miles
- 2:40Speaker 3: to gallon. Is a Toyota Corolla and an excellent car.
- 2:44Speaker 3: And we bought the car because we take people out
- 2:45Speaker 3: of town just we're smaller groups and so we needed that.
- 2:48Speaker 3: And then we need a van to transport people here.
- 2:51Speaker 3: And it's a hybrid. Also, it gets thirty.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Six miles to gown.
- 2:53Speaker 3: The hybrid about two years ago and we got eighty
- 2:55Speaker 3: thousand miles already, so wet and it's been a great
- 2:59Speaker 3: thing cut our gas expenses for the lighthouse significantly.
- 3:03Speaker 4: We saw the next month a big drop in the
- 3:06Speaker 4: gas expenses.
- 3:07Speaker 1: We still have a lot of people a little skeptical
- 3:09Speaker 1: of highbrid they're great, and you.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Know, I do recommend you check it out. Getting fifty miles.
- 3:15Speaker 4: To the gallon that's highway in town.
- 3:18Speaker 2: There's a great, great experience.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And my son drives a camera that gets fifty miles
- 3:25Speaker 1: to the gallon.
- 3:25Speaker 2: It's a wonderful car. And but thank you for that.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I mean, you know, so our relationship does go back
- 3:31Speaker 1: a long time.
- 3:32Speaker 2: The lighthouse has been around so long, tell us about.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Nineteen ninety two, thirty three years now we've been serving
- 3:38Speaker 3: the committee who've helped over five thousand people.
- 3:42Speaker 4: And almost weekly I.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Get a phone call or an email or see somebody
- 3:46Speaker 3: in person. They used to live the lighthouse and now
- 3:48Speaker 3: they got the life turned around. And so it's exciting
- 3:50Speaker 3: to see we're not just feeding them for a few
- 3:53Speaker 3: days and giving some clothes, but their lives are.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Being changed and that's that's rewarding.
- 3:57Speaker 3: And we appreciate the people of Bartlesville, businesses, individuals that
- 4:02Speaker 3: give regularly and consistently.
- 4:04Speaker 4: It really keeps us going, we couldn't do it without
- 4:05Speaker 4: the help of the community.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Well, so much happens like that in Borrows.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Will to be honest and that all these many decades
- 4:13Speaker 1: that you guys have been serving this community. But tell
- 4:17Speaker 1: folks about what you guys do every day and how
- 4:20Speaker 1: and if people need help, you know how this really happened.
- 4:24Speaker 3: We provide first of all housing and a place for
- 4:27Speaker 3: people to say. People can stay there for a night
- 4:30Speaker 3: or two, or they can stay there for up to
- 4:32Speaker 3: two or three years. And people say, well, why do
- 4:34Speaker 3: they stay so long? Well, if you've been in addiction
- 4:36Speaker 3: for twenty years, it's going to take a while to
- 4:38Speaker 3: get out of that. And so and I'm excited. We're
- 4:40Speaker 3: getting ready to start a new class on finances. Pat Moore,
- 4:44Speaker 3: who as a financial advisor, has offered teach a class
- 4:48Speaker 3: for us, and he is going to come and teach
- 4:51Speaker 3: a class for us and help them with their savings
- 4:53Speaker 3: and how to manage their money and help them because
- 4:57Speaker 3: if a person quits their addiction but doesn't know how
- 5:01Speaker 3: to manage their money, they're still in trouble. And so
- 5:03Speaker 3: we're trying to help them. I told them in chapel
- 5:06Speaker 3: the other day as I announced this new class. Next
- 5:09Speaker 3: to getting saved, this will probably the most life transforming.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Class you'll ever have here because if you can learn
- 5:14Speaker 4: to manage them.
- 5:14Speaker 3: We've got people living there on fixed incomes SSI checks.
- 5:18Speaker 3: If they could manage it, they could live on it,
- 5:20Speaker 3: but they aren't able to because they weren't taught how
- 5:23Speaker 3: to manage their money.
- 5:24Speaker 4: So it's going to be a very benefit.
- 5:25Speaker 3: We're really encouraging all of our people to get a
- 5:27Speaker 3: savings account because if you're living a light house, it
- 5:31Speaker 3: costs you twenty percent of your income to stay there,
- 5:33Speaker 3: but you've got eighty percent of disposed of income because
- 5:36Speaker 3: most of everything's provided meals, laundry, all that, things like that.
- 5:39Speaker 3: So you should be saving money while you're there, whether
- 5:41Speaker 3: you have a job or just a jet coming in.
- 5:43Speaker 3: So we're really trying to get them to get some money.
- 5:45Speaker 3: SAI someone have somebody saved up.
- 5:46Speaker 1: There's really a structure of successful and when they leave
- 5:52Speaker 1: going forward so that they don't need your support. Yeah always, yeah, no,
- 5:56Speaker 1: that's great. And how many people are typically there?
- 6:00Speaker 4: Last night we had eighty three people there.
- 6:02Speaker 3: That's in our main facility, and then we have three
- 6:04Speaker 3: transitional houses where people move from there to the next
- 6:07Speaker 3: step toward independence. And so we have eleven people living
- 6:09Speaker 3: in those three facilities right now. So we're trying to
- 6:13Speaker 3: meet the people's needs, and we're full right now. Almost
- 6:17Speaker 3: every day we get a phone call or somebody come
- 6:19Speaker 3: by wants a place to stay, and I say, well,
- 6:20Speaker 3: keep checking with us, because we're full right now. We
- 6:23Speaker 3: had a vagacy last night occur someone came this morning
- 6:25Speaker 3: and filled it up, so it's very We're almost constantly full.
- 6:30Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 6:31Speaker 1: And if people, I mean you must take an army
- 6:35Speaker 1: of volunteers and people to get to make the meals
- 6:40Speaker 1: and make all this happen.
- 6:41Speaker 3: We have about twenty employees and most of them are
- 6:45Speaker 3: residents who live there, and so they don't make near
- 6:47Speaker 3: as much as you would they make somewhere else, but
- 6:50Speaker 3: it's part of their ministry and paying back.
- 6:52Speaker 4: And then we have a volunteers coming to classes for us.
- 6:55Speaker 3: They do help with the meal preparation and so we
- 6:57Speaker 3: have volunteers to help out there, and that's a very
- 6:59Speaker 3: big important part.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Sure it is, and you know that's great that the
- 7:03Speaker 1: people staying there also good to work and get some
- 7:07Speaker 1: of them.
- 7:09Speaker 3: It's a very big boost of their self esteem, because
- 7:12Speaker 3: if you've been going for job applicating job applications, you
- 7:16Speaker 3: don't have the resource or their resume, you're gonna get
- 7:19Speaker 3: turned down many times. And being turned down, even though
- 7:21Speaker 3: they expect it, it hurts.
- 7:23Speaker 4: And so some of them have.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Said when I hired them to start working there, it
- 7:26Speaker 3: really gave them a big boast and self esteem. And
- 7:28Speaker 3: some of them continue to work there, some of them
- 7:30Speaker 3: move on to another job later on. But just that
- 7:32Speaker 3: being able to feel like you're giving back when you've
- 7:36Speaker 3: taken or received and taken so much.
- 7:38Speaker 2: All your life.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that's great, great, and I love love that idea
- 7:42Speaker 1: of building the responsibility and starting with the foundation of
- 7:47Speaker 1: like you guys do, taking care of their basic needs
- 7:49Speaker 1: and then building from there.
- 7:51Speaker 2: That's that's outstanding.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And you know, another one of the pillars of the
- 7:55Speaker 1: Toyota Way is respect for people. And that's you know,
- 7:58Speaker 1: that's certainly a lot of involved at.
- 8:01Speaker 3: The Lighthouse, and they no idea to her helps build
- 8:05Speaker 3: that respect for people because when you see somebody standing
- 8:08Speaker 3: outside of a store with a sign will work for
- 8:11Speaker 3: food or need help and in a bad situation, and
- 8:14Speaker 3: they look very uncapped you have an opinion about them, sure,
- 8:17Speaker 3: but when you get to meet with them, say, well,
- 8:19Speaker 3: they've had three years of college, they have an addiction
- 8:22Speaker 3: that took it all away, or they lost.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Their family and now they're the only one.
- 8:26Speaker 3: A lot of times I ask people on their enrollment form,
- 8:31Speaker 3: I need a person to contact you in case something
- 8:33Speaker 3: happens to you, and they have nobody to list. You know,
- 8:36Speaker 3: you and I have probably one hundred people that will
- 8:38Speaker 3: be notified if something happened to us. They have nobody
- 8:41Speaker 3: or they have no contact.
- 8:42Speaker 4: They know how to get in.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Touch with them.
- 8:43Speaker 3: So realize there are people just like us that have
- 8:48Speaker 3: made some wrong choices and had some bad things happen
- 8:50Speaker 3: in life.
- 8:51Speaker 4: As you get to know them, you begin to gain.
- 8:53Speaker 3: That respect for people, and you see there's a good
- 8:55Speaker 3: person inside there that's heart and has trouble.
- 9:00Speaker 2: And you know, how long have you been doing this ere.
- 9:04Speaker 3: I've been the director since twenty fourteen, so I'm on
- 9:08Speaker 3: my eleventh year.
- 9:09Speaker 4: I guess it is.
- 9:11Speaker 3: But I was on the board three different times and
- 9:13Speaker 3: then started volunteering about thirty years ago. Our church did
- 9:16Speaker 3: a meal once a month, and I did a sermon
- 9:19Speaker 3: at the chapel and that's one way churches could get
- 9:21Speaker 3: involved is sign up to do a meal once a month,
- 9:23Speaker 3: you know, and if you'd about sixty people at that's.
- 9:26Speaker 4: The meal and you get to sit eat with the
- 9:27Speaker 4: people and you get to see them.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Does it gives the church people an opportuny to do
- 9:31Speaker 3: a mission without having.
- 9:32Speaker 4: To have a passport to go out the country to
- 9:33Speaker 4: do it. So it's a beautiful way.
- 9:35Speaker 3: And there are some churches that really did a good
- 9:37Speaker 3: job of interacting with the people there and it it
- 9:40Speaker 3: relieves our budget tremendously because I think about eleven or
- 9:43Speaker 3: twelve churches right now, and you know, there's enough church
- 9:45Speaker 3: in town to every meal to be provided, and that'd
- 9:47Speaker 3: be a great thing.
- 9:48Speaker 4: So that's an oportunity for.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Churches to get involved, to just sign up to do
- 9:52Speaker 3: a meal once a month.
- 9:53Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I saw you had another fundraiser coming later this fall September.
- 9:58Speaker 4: We've got a big one. It's called Impact five.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Uh.
- 10:02Speaker 3: It's our most aggressive campaign we've ever done. We're praying
- 10:05Speaker 3: and expecting to raise one hundred thousand dollars. We'll have
- 10:07Speaker 3: a silent auction. We have a special speaker coming, doctor Loggins,
- 10:10Speaker 3: who's spoke at our thirtieth anniversary.
- 10:12Speaker 4: Tremendous amount of god.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Blake and Jenna Boulderjack will be bringing the music and
- 10:16Speaker 3: it's gonna be top class. It's gonna be held at
- 10:18Speaker 3: East Cross Church and we're really working.
- 10:22Speaker 2: To it a get there.
- 10:22Speaker 3: We have a silent Auction, Like I said, we're collecting
- 10:25Speaker 3: items for that, and we've got one of the things
- 10:27Speaker 3: on the siland is an airplane ride over Bartlesville for
- 10:29Speaker 3: thirty minutes. A man from Bartle, from Blackwell, friend of
- 10:32Speaker 3: mine who's a former Continental Airline pilot.
- 10:35Speaker 2: He has a private plane he's gonna.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Come and fly. Whoever buys is that package for a
- 10:40Speaker 3: thirty minute fight over bartle Some fun things like that
- 10:43Speaker 3: are being planned. We've got a two nights stay in
- 10:45Speaker 3: Eureka Springs at a hotel there, and so we've got
- 10:48Speaker 3: some other things coming up too. And that's the that's
- 10:50Speaker 3: gonna be the thirteenth of thirteenth. Yeah, we've got Saturday night,
- 10:55Speaker 3: the thirteenth of September at East Cross Church six Actually
- 11:00Speaker 3: doors open at six so you can start rousing for
- 11:02Speaker 3: the Silent Auction. You've got a great mc gonna be
- 11:06Speaker 3: doing that for us. His name's Tom Davis. I don't
- 11:07Speaker 3: ever heard of him. He's gonna be there sharing and
- 11:10Speaker 3: keep the thing going smoothly. I appreciate that Tom very much.
- 11:15Speaker 1: All right, come on, excellent time, good job. Now that's
- 11:19Speaker 1: that's outstanding stuff. And you know there's an a a
- 11:22Speaker 1: lot of other great stuff going on right now in
- 11:25Speaker 1: bartlesviel And Rotary. On Monday, we had the kids come
- 11:28Speaker 1: from Children's Musical Theater and and do the so quite
- 11:34Speaker 1: a bit of the the whole.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Final part of the show they're doing this weekend.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Where they do base most of the songs in the
- 11:41Speaker 1: show again and it's Joseph and the amazing technical or
- 11:45Speaker 1: dream Coat. There were probably forty of them in there
- 11:48Speaker 1: singing to us. It was outstanding. If if you've got time,
- 11:52Speaker 1: it starts tonight and they've got matinee shows on the
- 11:56Speaker 1: weekend and you can get more information at the Community
- 12:00Speaker 1: Center and buy tickets to that. But if you, if you,
- 12:03Speaker 1: I mean those who know Children's Musical Theaters is just
- 12:06Speaker 1: such a great program here in town. So many kids
- 12:10Speaker 1: get to learn a lot about performance and preparation for
- 12:14Speaker 1: a big event, and some of them go on to
- 12:16Speaker 1: be great artists and and they've got alumni now coming
- 12:20Speaker 1: back to manage the program and to direct this performance,
- 12:25Speaker 1: and I think it's a great story. And I mentioned
- 12:30Speaker 1: that the Dungeons Toyota Indians are taking a little bit
- 12:35Speaker 1: of time off this weekend, but they've got a big tournament,
- 12:38Speaker 1: the World stam Usual World Series next week in Bartlesville
- 12:43Speaker 1: and won the wings at tournament, and so the team actually,
- 12:47Speaker 1: you know, really I think got much better this summer
- 12:50Speaker 1: and we're looking forward to see how they play next
- 12:54Speaker 1: week and going on to the state tournament later. So
- 12:58Speaker 1: good good luck, John, and to the team. I know
- 13:01Speaker 1: that you guys have been playing really hard. They're playing
- 13:04Speaker 1: a lot of college teams this year and it's been
- 13:07Speaker 1: really a challenge. But they won a lot of their
- 13:10Speaker 1: last games and really started to put it together such
- 13:14Speaker 1: that I don't know why the forfeits happened.
- 13:17Speaker 2: But I guess that we were getting too good sometimes rain, Yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 2: I did.
- 13:27Speaker 1: I was looking at our new Toyota inventory that's just
- 13:31Speaker 1: been some of it's.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Rolling out every couple of weeks.
- 13:34Speaker 1: With Toyota, we get allocation twice a month, and so
- 13:37Speaker 1: we get you can now see about forty toyotas that
- 13:41Speaker 1: are headed our way. There's all kinds of great stuff
- 13:44Speaker 1: if you're looking for a land Cruiser, Sequaia rab for
- 13:50Speaker 1: Camery Corolla, the Tacoma and Tundra. Of course, we've got
- 13:54Speaker 1: lots of Tacomas and many more coming. We do really
- 13:59Speaker 1: well with Tacoma in our area. We've got a really
- 14:01Speaker 1: special limited edition one called the new the Trail Hunter Edition,
- 14:06Speaker 1: which is a new trim level. It's got a lot
- 14:09Speaker 1: of of it literally looks great, but it's got a
- 14:12Speaker 1: lot of good stuff for people who like to go
- 14:15Speaker 1: out and do stuff, whether it's fishing, camp and uh,
- 14:19Speaker 1: just adventuring, paddle boarding.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Whatever you do out there.
- 14:23Speaker 1: This get you there and get you back erl You
- 14:26Speaker 1: could use one for this weekend, I think coming up,
- 14:28Speaker 1: couldn't you.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yeah, the new all new four Runners out. We've got
- 14:33Speaker 2: one of those on the ground. You know.
- 14:36Speaker 1: One thing I noticed about the four runner is it's
- 14:38Speaker 1: really you know, it's not as expected as expensive as
- 14:43Speaker 1: it seems like a lot of vehicles are these days.
- 14:47Speaker 1: It's four runners actually in there under the land Cruiser
- 14:51Speaker 1: and the Sequalia. You can get a nice four by
- 14:54Speaker 1: four four runner in the forty forty five thousand dollars range,
- 14:58Speaker 1: which is really a great value right now, especially considering
- 15:01Speaker 1: how all the toyotas retain their value and you know,
- 15:06Speaker 1: maintain that resale value.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Because they do have that great QDR reputation for really.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Lasting a long time and being so well engineered and
- 15:14Speaker 1: so that. But those that that resale value on the.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Forerunner, I think the.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Residual value after about three years is over seventy percent
- 15:25Speaker 1: of its original value.
- 15:26Speaker 2: So it's a really great uh.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I means it makes sense from a financial point of view,
- 15:34Speaker 1: just like supporting the lighthouse. And so I want to
- 15:40Speaker 1: remind people of I have to lunch and learn. Is
- 15:43Speaker 1: this something where you need to be invited or can
- 15:45Speaker 1: people want to come?
- 15:46Speaker 4: How does everyone is invited through the radio?
- 15:49Speaker 3: We send that postcard and just word of mouth, but
- 15:51Speaker 3: really need you to call in and tell us if
- 15:52Speaker 3: you're coming.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Just called the lighthouse number and there's nine one eight
- 15:55Speaker 4: three three six nine zero two five.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I think that I got right here.
- 16:02Speaker 1: You don't call it that much nine three six nine
- 16:04Speaker 1: zero nine.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Sorry about that.
- 16:06Speaker 4: That's good, But let us know you're coming and watch
- 16:08Speaker 4: your name down.
- 16:09Speaker 3: So we have a list and usually have about twenty
- 16:11Speaker 3: twenty five people come and that and you know, we
- 16:13Speaker 3: can comment more if we need to. But it's been
- 16:15Speaker 3: great again done just providing the meal this time. I
- 16:17Speaker 3: appreciate that very much for your support of that.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Sure and you check it out also at Bartlesville Lighthouse
- 16:24Speaker 1: dot org and on Facebook and stuff like that.
- 16:26Speaker 2: You've got a great.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Website there which has all kinds of information about how
- 16:31Speaker 1: to access your services if you need help, and how
- 16:34Speaker 1: to support the organization of the history and.
- 16:36Speaker 2: All all that is there.
- 16:38Speaker 3: And you know, it cost us one thousand and seven
- 16:42Speaker 3: hundred eighty six dollars a day to run the lighthouse,
- 16:44Speaker 3: and that sounds like a lot of money, but that's
- 16:46Speaker 3: for eighty three people.
- 16:46Speaker 4: You divide that eighty three that's pretty cheap around twenty
- 16:50Speaker 4: dollars or less per person.
- 16:51Speaker 3: And providing meals, transportation to and from work to doctor's appointments,
- 16:57Speaker 3: we take them out of town if you've got to
- 16:58Speaker 3: go to Tulsa to a quarter appearents, and we do transport.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Our drivers start about five o'clock in the morning, we
- 17:04Speaker 3: run about ten o'clock and.
- 17:05Speaker 4: That's where these vehicles we got from or make a big.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Difference because they are hybrids. And we've had no trouble
- 17:10Speaker 3: with U's rather been great.
- 17:12Speaker 2: So I mean, and how how does that really work?
- 17:15Speaker 2: People get you help them get started and get their
- 17:17Speaker 2: job and hire them.
- 17:19Speaker 4: We help them, We help them to get jobs.
- 17:21Speaker 3: We've got case managers, two case managers for men and
- 17:24Speaker 3: one for ladies, and they help them get a job.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Some of them aren't able to get jobs, are on disability,
- 17:29Speaker 3: some of them are coming off of surgery or have
- 17:32Speaker 3: other issues that they aren't able to get jobs. And
- 17:34Speaker 3: so those we try to help them as much we can,
- 17:37Speaker 3: getting their other needs to taken care of. But if
- 17:39Speaker 3: they're employable, we try to get them to a job,
- 17:41Speaker 3: and we'll give them transportation. The first two weeks is
- 17:44Speaker 3: free and then we charge them twenty dollars a week
- 17:46Speaker 3: after that for get pick them up or take them
- 17:47Speaker 3: to work. And we've got several of them work at
- 17:50Speaker 3: ops and different places.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Some work at McDonald's.
- 17:53Speaker 3: And one of our former residents who will be speaking
- 17:56Speaker 3: at our Impact twenty twenty five as the manager of
- 17:58Speaker 3: one of McDonald's are in town, usually with the Lighthouse.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Now she's a manager of McDonald's and doing great.
- 18:02Speaker 2: So we do.
- 18:05Speaker 3: It's not a requirement to have a job while you're there,
- 18:07Speaker 3: but if you're employable, we try to a lot of
- 18:09Speaker 3: people get day work. We got people calls meet somebody
- 18:11Speaker 3: come and just rake our yard day. We have people
- 18:13Speaker 3: need to help build a fence, and so we send
- 18:16Speaker 3: people out of regulates. So if you've got work to
- 18:18Speaker 3: be done, need somebody to come help out with a job,
- 18:20Speaker 3: maybe maybe just two or three days, or maybe just
- 18:22Speaker 3: a day unloaded furniture from moving vantage with that were
- 18:26Speaker 3: willing to do that. We try to send out people
- 18:27Speaker 3: that represent as well, and we get a lot of
- 18:29Speaker 3: good reports and people saying the people you sent from
- 18:31Speaker 3: Lighthouse really did a good job.
- 18:33Speaker 4: So we want to help them by getting them some.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Temporary jobs like that, but also help the community by
- 18:39Speaker 3: getting someone to help them do and work they can
- 18:41Speaker 3: count on. So we try to work together with the
- 18:44Speaker 3: community and also with individuals to help them get work jobs.
- 18:46Speaker 1: And you mentioned it costs seventeen hundred dollars a day
- 18:49Speaker 1: approximately to do this.
- 18:51Speaker 2: So where does that money come.
- 18:52Speaker 3: From, Well, it comes from individuals. We have people that
- 18:55Speaker 3: regularly donate money to us. We get from foundations for
- 19:00Speaker 3: perching the vehicles and property and things like that, and
- 19:03Speaker 3: very little operation expense comes from foundating. We get some
- 19:06Speaker 3: once in a while, some of them will dot designate
- 19:08Speaker 3: that way. And then we have a businesses that donate regularly,
- 19:11Speaker 3: some of them. Some churches put us in their budget regularly,
- 19:14Speaker 3: send us a check. Some churches maybe take an offering
- 19:16Speaker 3: once a year for us, and so we have something
- 19:18Speaker 3: like that. And then I was on the radio about
- 19:21Speaker 3: a month ago talking about our our needs we had
- 19:23Speaker 3: this summer because our income is down, but our expenses
- 19:26Speaker 3: were staying up there. And we got a check in
- 19:28Speaker 3: the mail for twenty thousand dollars from a former board
- 19:30Speaker 3: member just wanted to help us out.
- 19:31Speaker 4: So God is providing.
- 19:33Speaker 3: We've had a lot of people coming with a thousand
- 19:35Speaker 3: dollars checks lately or mailing to us. So our income
- 19:38Speaker 3: for June is better than last June and our expenses
- 19:41Speaker 3: are less than last year's. We had a really good
- 19:43Speaker 3: financial report this month, so we just need two more
- 19:46Speaker 3: of those during the summer to get through the week time.
- 19:48Speaker 4: But this big Impact.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Twenty twenty five will really help put us over because
- 19:53Speaker 3: we need about one hundred thousand dollars more per year
- 19:55Speaker 3: right now. Insurance went way up last year we were
- 19:57Speaker 3: canceled that we were out without insurance for about month.
- 20:00Speaker 3: The tornado came within a mile of us when we
- 20:02Speaker 3: were uninsured, so we really scrambled finally.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Got some of it good.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Oklahoma's hard to get injured now because all the weather problems,
- 20:08Speaker 3: so we were fortunate to even get somebody us about
- 20:11Speaker 3: twenty thousand more than it was a year before. So
- 20:14Speaker 3: God's really provided for us in a very special way.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Has any big things on the horizon, any plans for
- 20:20Speaker 1: the future or anything else.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Well, we've done a lot of expansion with a couple
- 20:24Speaker 3: of houses transition houses in the last couple years, so
- 20:27Speaker 3: this is sort of a catch your breath year to
- 20:29Speaker 3: get caught up, finish up some things, and then we'll
- 20:31Speaker 3: launch out a big capital campaign, probably to build a
- 20:34Speaker 3: women's shelter right there on the property too, which be
- 20:36Speaker 3: a separate facility, separate dining hall, separate chapel, separate administration.
- 20:40Speaker 4: So that's our big plan in the future.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Which will free up about forty beds in the men's
- 20:44Speaker 3: door for the men in the doorm because they could
- 20:46Speaker 3: be used ladies rooms can now be for men then,
- 20:49Speaker 3: so that's a big thing coming up. But we're not
- 20:51Speaker 3: ready for that right now. We're just setting the plans
- 20:52Speaker 3: for it and getting anticipated. But right now it's sort
- 20:55Speaker 3: of a catch your breath and get things finished up,
- 20:59Speaker 3: get things because you can get some messed up going
- 21:02Speaker 3: they don't get anything finished. And it's one thing to
- 21:04Speaker 3: have a building project to get done almost done, and
- 21:07Speaker 3: then there's that last we're trying to finish up stuff
- 21:09Speaker 3: like that. And one thing we got we've got a
- 21:12Speaker 3: lot of firewood. We've been collecting firewood all summer long
- 21:14Speaker 3: and we have a lot of firewood for this fall,
- 21:16Speaker 3: and we're going to run some specials, probably a fire
- 21:19Speaker 3: special in firewood, a fire sale on firewood.
- 21:23Speaker 1: And you mentioned your facility and expansion and such that
- 21:27Speaker 1: that it's on Hensley Froteen eleven West Hensley Boulevard. If
- 21:32Speaker 1: you've been out in that part of town, it's there's
- 21:35Speaker 1: a nice it's a nice area.
- 21:36Speaker 3: It is nice and we're helping the community because we've
- 21:39Speaker 3: bought three houses right there picking fixing them up.
- 21:42Speaker 4: One of the first one who bought was a drug house.
- 21:44Speaker 3: In fact, when I went to the police about it,
- 21:46Speaker 3: they said they needed a search one.
- 21:49Speaker 4: So I know the owner.
- 21:50Speaker 3: He's a Christian gave a call and he gave you a
- 21:52Speaker 3: search one they did shut the thing down and we
- 21:54Speaker 3: bought it the next day. And a lot of our
- 21:56Speaker 3: people at the residence used to buy their drugs there
- 21:58Speaker 3: at that house. So that tay Clanfon Communities buy the
- 22:01Speaker 3: neighborhood and clean it up.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Well, your dynamic person, Errol, and I appreciate all your
- 22:08Speaker 1: service from Bartlesville.
- 22:09Speaker 2: And for the Lighthouse.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I know that it's been a long time passion for you,
- 22:13Speaker 1: obviously being involved as a volunteer before and through the
- 22:17Speaker 1: ministry that you do and and it's uh, it's obviously
- 22:20Speaker 1: had an impact on thousands of people and it's a
- 22:23Speaker 1: great story to tell. And if you want to come
- 22:25Speaker 1: learn more, reach out to the Lighthouse and you can
- 22:28Speaker 1: come to one of their lunch and learns.
- 22:30Speaker 2: You do these regularly about every six weeks, right, so if.
- 22:33Speaker 1: You're this isn't just the one that's a one time thing,
- 22:37Speaker 1: but the next one is July twenty fourth at noon
- 22:40Speaker 1: out at the Lighthouse if you want to come and
- 22:42Speaker 1: and get more information about it and really kind of
- 22:45Speaker 1: and do the gin Chi Gimbutsu the Toyota Way. Yeah,
- 22:49Speaker 1: calls for which which is a great thing to do.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Go and see what really happens where you know, and
- 22:56Speaker 1: don't just judge it from outside.
- 22:59Speaker 3: And I almost say I really done just support for
- 23:02Speaker 3: the community over the years.
- 23:04Speaker 4: Well thank you with the ball teams everything else you're doing.
- 23:08Speaker 3: You know, it's it's one thing to come in and
- 23:09Speaker 3: make money like an outside dealers, you have no community.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Involvement, but you guys are here and you're part of
- 23:14Speaker 4: the community.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Well that's that's why we do it.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Appreciate it. That's the legacy. Truthfully, it's not about making money.
- 23:22Speaker 1: It's about the impact we have with our employees.
- 23:25Speaker 2: In the community.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And you know it's not we're not maybe doing it
- 23:30Speaker 1: the same way you do it. It's the Lighthouse, I
- 23:32Speaker 1: think that it's trying to we're trying to do it
- 23:36Speaker 1: in a similar way. And and uh, we certainly take
- 23:39Speaker 1: great pride in helping you guys at the Lighthouse and
- 23:42Speaker 1: and and all of Artlesfield. That's thinking real passion of
- 23:45Speaker 1: ours the whole. We are family business where we might
- 23:48Speaker 1: might you know, there's family all over the places, and uh,
- 23:54Speaker 1: you know it's a we're small in the car big
- 23:56Speaker 1: car business now and times are changing, but we we
- 24:00Speaker 1: keep doing it really just because we love the community
- 24:03Speaker 1: and and love to our customers and our employees and
- 24:06Speaker 1: and Bartlesville, you know. So it's a it's a great
- 24:10Speaker 1: place we live. Folks, don't take it for granted. It's
- 24:13Speaker 1: only here because of what what we make and and
- 24:16Speaker 1: and it just shows through things like the lighthouse and
- 24:18Speaker 1: the and the support you guys get from the community
- 24:21Speaker 1: through all these years and UH and so many other
- 24:24Speaker 1: organizations too.
- 24:25Speaker 2: So thank you for what you do. Eryl. And so
- 24:29Speaker 2: if you are in need.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Of a vehicle this summer, come check out our new toyotas.
- 24:34Speaker 1: We've got to gret a great selection. Our our team
- 24:38Speaker 1: of noncommissioned salary sales professionals are out there to help
- 24:42Speaker 1: help you buy a car in a simple way with
- 24:44Speaker 1: a lot of transparency and and really just want to
- 24:47Speaker 1: help you through that process. That's real consistent too, I
- 24:50Speaker 1: think with how we treat the community and try to
- 24:53Speaker 1: impact that put that into the sales prost to process too.
- 24:58Speaker 1: It is all about trust and relationships we build UH
- 25:02Speaker 1: in today's world, and.
- 25:05Speaker 2: So that's a lot of the theme of the show too.
- 25:07Speaker 2: So to all of you listening out there, thank you
- 25:09Speaker 2: for that, And I guess what else is going.
- 25:14Speaker 1: On now We've got I'm getting ready to go on vacation,
- 25:17Speaker 1: that's one thing. So I don't know what Jason's got
- 25:19Speaker 1: cooked up for next.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Week out.
- 25:25Speaker 1: We'll see, but yeah, it's if you want to come
- 25:28Speaker 1: talk out the dealership.
- 25:30Speaker 2: I'll be back out there in a little bit.
- 25:31Speaker 1: And like I mentioned, we've got a lot great selection toytos,
- 25:34Speaker 1: new and used vehicles. Working on a lot of great
- 25:37Speaker 1: new stuff at the dealership too. That will happen over
- 25:40Speaker 1: the next few weeks. More good technology that I like
- 25:43Speaker 1: to do that makes things go faster and smoother this time,
- 25:46Speaker 1: and starting in service with a new service write up system,
- 25:50Speaker 1: so they're going to have Apple iPads be able to
- 25:53Speaker 1: go to your vehicle and actually do the ride up there,
- 25:56Speaker 1: maybe do it inside when it's hot, we can move
- 25:59Speaker 1: it and move the proper us into the air conditioned
- 26:01Speaker 1: showroom without having to do it on the service drive.
- 26:04Speaker 1: It'll all link to the appointment system online and our scheduler.
- 26:08Speaker 1: So these things used to be kind of separate things,
- 26:11Speaker 1: the website thing and the scheduler, and then they how
- 26:15Speaker 1: they dispatch the work to the shop. Now they're all
- 26:18Speaker 1: combined to do one program. It should be much more
- 26:21Speaker 1: efficient for customers and for us, make it faster, quicker,
- 26:25Speaker 1: easier to do business. Same kind of stuff coming in sales.
- 26:29Speaker 1: In the next month or two, we'll have a whole
- 26:32Speaker 1: new digital what they call digital retailing tool on the
- 26:35Speaker 1: website where you can not that people actually buy their
- 26:38Speaker 1: car online, but they can actually get a lot of
- 26:41Speaker 1: it done where you know the payment.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Calculations, trade valuation.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Pretty much all of the questions can be answered on
- 26:50Speaker 1: multiple vehicles with all the incentives and all that.
- 26:53Speaker 2: So we'll talk about that on a future show.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Where can we find you.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Well at dungeustoileter dot com out on at nineteen eleven
- 27:01Speaker 1: Southeast Washington Boulevard.
- 27:03Speaker 2: We'll be out there in a little bit.
- 27:04Speaker 3: All right, folks, you have been watching and listening to
- 27:07Speaker 3: Car Talk with Brad Dungeons right here on K one,
- 27:10Speaker 3: the one you trust.
