- 1:03Speaker 1: And a quick refresher against a longtime Hallmark fan. Wendy
- 1:07Speaker 1: is the twenty twenty recruit and we share our thoughts
- 1:13Speaker 1: on all things Hallmarks. Today, we are discussing the movie
- 1:16Speaker 1: Unthinkably Good Things, which originally aired on August twenty eight,
- 1:20Speaker 1: twenty two, on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Channel across all platforms, across all I know you don't
- 1:27Speaker 2: watch commercials.
- 1:28Speaker 3: I don't, so there.
- 1:31Speaker 2: They did a lot of promo leading up to this
- 1:33Speaker 2: movie that this movie was like an event across all platforms.
- 1:39Speaker 3: I like it. So it's like Hallmark Movies now the
- 1:42Speaker 3: Hallmark Channel.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I don't know if they all aired at the same time,
- 1:46Speaker 2: but it belongs to Movies and Mysteries.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I believe that's its home.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and again people are pissed that the mysteries are
- 1:54Speaker 2: gone off of Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. I like a
- 1:57Speaker 2: mystery movie, you know what I really want? This is
- 2:00Speaker 2: such a tangent, guys, I want that Goldie though. You
- 2:03Speaker 2: know Andrew Walker and the Baker Mysteries, Nicky Deloache Death
- 2:10Speaker 2: by Chocolate was that what it was called.
- 2:12Speaker 1: It's called Curious Caterer Dying for Chocola. But I think
- 2:17Speaker 1: we could get a whole Curious Caterer series going.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I hope they do.
- 2:21Speaker 1: If you want to connect with us outside of the podcast,
- 2:23Speaker 1: you can always follow us on Instagram. We are at

- 2:43Speaker 2: on them, your hot takes. We're into it. We're just
- 2:47Speaker 2: not a solo, you know, out here on an island
- 2:49Speaker 2: by ourselves reviewing Hallmark movies. I wanted to be a conversation.

- 2:55Speaker 1: movie fans, join our exclusive Facebook group Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 2:59Speaker 1: which is both linked in our show notes and you

- 3:06Speaker 1: I don't know if a listeners know what, but as
- 3:09Speaker 1: you're listening to podcasts, you can leave reviews and that's
- 3:12Speaker 1: so beneficial to other podcasts listener.
- 3:17Speaker 3: So they know what's a good podcast and what's a dud. Yeah,
- 3:20Speaker 3: and it helps us out a lot.
- 3:21Speaker 1: And I'm going to read a recent Hallmark review. Let's
- 3:23Speaker 1: hear it from a guy who likes Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Megan and Wendy have quietly created the best Hallmark movie
- 3:30Speaker 1: podcast out there. They're quick witted and entertaining, yet not
- 3:33Speaker 1: afraid to call it the network for taking false steps.
- 3:36Speaker 1: But they also give Hallmark credit where it's due for
- 3:38Speaker 1: advancing their programming to reflect a changing demographic. To cap
- 3:43Speaker 1: it all off, their audio quality is excellent and each
- 3:46Speaker 1: episode is just the right length.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Check it out.
- 3:48Speaker 2: That's so very nice, And I'd like to share a
- 3:52Speaker 2: note about podcast quality audio please. That was my biggest
- 3:58Speaker 2: worry when we saw Yes, it needed to sound good.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I think our podcasts episodes sound really good.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Again.
- 4:05Speaker 1: If you want to know how we do that, we
- 4:07Speaker 1: have a blog post all about the equipment that we use.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're interested in becoming.
- 4:12Speaker 1: We really got in the weeds, I think before we
- 4:13Speaker 1: started this trying to choose the equipment and figuring out
- 4:16Speaker 1: how that worked. And it is because we're two people
- 4:19Speaker 1: and how do we record when we're in the same
- 4:20Speaker 1: room and how do we record when we're not in
- 4:21Speaker 1: the same room?
- 4:22Speaker 3: And we figured it out.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Taken the world by storm.
- 4:26Speaker 3: One Hallmark movie at a time, that's right.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Any Hallmark news of late that should be discussed well.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Luke McFarlane, Oh yeah, who starred in hits like Hits?
- 4:42Speaker 3: Do attics?
- 4:42Speaker 2: Christmas uh huh did Julie.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Yeah, taking a shot at least.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Duh.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I like that movie me too. I'm going we watch that.
- 4:52Speaker 1: He has a big screen movie coming out called Bros.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And he says that this year's Hallmark Christmas Village will
- 5:01Speaker 1: likely be his last.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I knew it.
- 5:03Speaker 3: So I read two different articles.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:06Speaker 3: One the quote is I think I've.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Told my story for now with these folks. I mean,
- 5:10Speaker 1: how many firefighters can I play?
- 5:12Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Yeah, And another was from Vanity Fair where he said
- 5:15Speaker 1: I don't think they'll ever have me back after today.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Oh.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Now.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Luke McFarland is an openly gay man. Yeah, he jokes.
- 5:23Speaker 1: He's like, you look at my IMDb and it's a
- 5:25Speaker 1: lot of like me with white ladies. And so I
- 5:28Speaker 1: think he feels, like he said, he was very grateful
- 5:32Speaker 1: for the opportunities Hallmark gave him. He's definitely a Hallmark
- 5:35Speaker 1: leading man. But I think he's ready to take the
- 5:38Speaker 1: next step.
- 5:39Speaker 3: I'm very happy for him me too.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I knew it when I saw the preview for Bros.
- 5:45Speaker 2: First of all, I was like shocked. I was so
- 5:48Speaker 2: excited for him night. I mean, this is like a
- 5:50Speaker 2: big role. Yeah, big movie. Like, it's a big, big movie.
- 5:54Speaker 2: I think it's a jet appetite. Oh movie, it is
- 5:57Speaker 2: a jet appatow movie. Billy Eickner, he's the other guy
- 6:00Speaker 2: in the movie. Mm hmm. Anyway, a big jet apptole movie.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I'm excited for him. I thought for sure he wasn't
- 6:09Speaker 2: gonna go back to Hallwark after this. Not that like
- 6:12Speaker 2: people who turn are gonna be like, oh naw, I'm
- 6:15Speaker 2: a leading man in a you know, theatrical release. I'm
- 6:21Speaker 2: too good for Hallmark. I don't think that's the case.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I think what you said about Rose is a movie
- 6:30Speaker 2: about same sex couples, and he is an openly gay man.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I just think like his Hallmark ship has sailed, like
- 6:37Speaker 2: he's ready to step into like the roles he's maybe
- 6:41Speaker 2: more comfortable playing. Yeah, I mean, I'm here for it.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I want to watch this movie. I think it looks
- 6:45Speaker 2: very funny. I'm very excited to look at him. He's
- 6:48Speaker 2: so pretty on the eyes. I'm so I'm very thrilled
- 6:52Speaker 2: for him, me too, very thrilled.
- 6:55Speaker 3: That's all the Hallmark news and notes that I have.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Did you have anything else to say?
- 6:58Speaker 2: No, I'm just waiting for more there's got to be
- 7:01Speaker 2: like a big Christmas Christmas announcement.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Yes, I've been looking to we do know.
- 7:06Speaker 1: October twenty second is the start date for Countdown to Christmas,
- 7:11Speaker 1: so hopefully we get some more information about.
- 7:13Speaker 3: That coming soon. Yeah. Do you want to do a synopsis?
- 7:17Speaker 3: Unthinkably good things?
- 7:18Speaker 2: I will Now this synopsis on the Homework website was
- 7:22Speaker 2: super long. Oh, and I'm not going to read that,
- 7:25Speaker 2: so I'm going to read the one from IMDb, which
- 7:27Speaker 2: is like less wordy. This movie follows Allison, who is
- 7:32Speaker 2: at a crossroads at her career and love life, in
- 7:35Speaker 2: need of love and support from her two friends after
- 7:39Speaker 2: visiting her in Tuscany. Each woman will re examine the
- 7:42Speaker 2: state of their own life and relationships.
- 7:45Speaker 3: We will revisit that. But I think there's a reason
- 7:48Speaker 3: why these synopsies are too long. Oh interesting, Okay.
- 7:54Speaker 1: My first news and note which was information that is
- 7:56Speaker 1: brand new to me, And most of this information is
- 7:58Speaker 1: brand new to me. But Mahogany, which is the brand
- 8:02Speaker 1: under which this movie was developed, as well as a
- 8:05Speaker 1: movie coming out this weekend called to Her with A
- 8:09Speaker 1: is actually a brand that started in nineteen eighty seven
- 8:11Speaker 1: in Hallmark as a sixteen card promotion and it has
- 8:14Speaker 1: continued as a year round offering. So Mahogany has been
- 8:18Speaker 1: a brand that has existed in the Hallmark card line
- 8:22Speaker 1: and so this twenty twenty two extension is.
- 8:25Speaker 3: An add on to that brand. They're all part of
- 8:28Speaker 3: their trying to be a multimedia.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Brand, okay, so, and the Mahogany brand originally was made
- 8:35Speaker 2: to celebrate the cultures of people of color, yes, okay, so, okay,
- 8:43Speaker 2: I'm just trying to envision like a Hallmark store and
- 8:46Speaker 2: they probably have like a little Mahogany.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Section, right that you want to be able to buy
- 8:50Speaker 1: a card that doesn't just picture like a white lady
- 8:54Speaker 1: saying happy.
- 8:54Speaker 2: But sure, totally get it. This movie was filmed entirely
- 8:58Speaker 2: on location in Italy during March twenty twenty two. It's
- 9:03Speaker 2: kind of interesting because it's usually a very big deal
- 9:06Speaker 2: when they film movies like in different countries, like for example,
- 9:11Speaker 2: the Wedding Veil they filmed in Italy, right, it was
- 9:14Speaker 2: like a big deal. Like prior to the movie coming out,
- 9:17Speaker 2: like we knew there was a lot of promotion that
- 9:19Speaker 2: this movie was filmed on location. Didn't hear a lot
- 9:23Speaker 2: of movie stuff about where they filmed this movie. H
- 9:28Speaker 2: kind of surprise. They must have had a big ass
- 9:31Speaker 2: budget for this.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Movie, don't you think with this the size of their cast,
- 9:34Speaker 1: especially yes looking at the Hallmark channel Instagram.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Because I have two thoughts about that.
- 9:39Speaker 1: One is it potential because the actors in this movie
- 9:43Speaker 1: are not Hallmark big names.
- 9:45Speaker 3: It's not like.
- 9:46Speaker 1: A Lazy Shavert or a Tyler Hines on location, or
- 9:50Speaker 1: even a Will Kemp who's been known to starw in
- 9:53Speaker 1: a Hallmark movie. It's these are not typically Hallmark actors
- 9:57Speaker 1: and actresses.
- 9:57Speaker 3: And so therefore.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Maybe that's we didn't get the buzz. Also, Hallmark, here's
- 10:04Speaker 1: my problem with what's happening here. Last year, Hallmark during
- 10:08Speaker 1: countdown to Christmas would release three movies a weekend, and
- 10:13Speaker 1: their Instagram promotion would always lean very heavily on one
- 10:17Speaker 1: of those movies, and sometimes to the detriment of movies
- 10:21Speaker 1: that starred actors of color. Right, Like, you got these
- 10:23Speaker 1: two big white leads and they're getting seven Instagram posts
- 10:27Speaker 1: and you get one about these other movies. And I
- 10:30Speaker 1: found it disappointing. And so when you said that, I.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Thought, well, let me take a look. It would appear
- 10:37Speaker 3: that we have.
- 10:40Speaker 1: One unthinkably good things, whereas for example, Mary May Yosemite
- 10:48Speaker 1: has oh I'm sorry three unthinkably good things has one, two, three, four, five, six,
- 10:56Speaker 1: seven eight. Stop just saying they don't do a great
- 11:01Speaker 1: job of balancing. And by the way, marry me and
- 11:04Speaker 1: yosebody's a Cindy Busby joint.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Yeah, just a little more balance would be nice. Hallmark.
- 11:09Speaker 2: You know that's really interesting because I thought the TV promotion,
- 11:16Speaker 2: the commercials for this movie prior to its airing were great.
- 11:21Speaker 2: I thought they were great. They're really failing in the
- 11:23Speaker 2: social media aspect. I wonder see.
- 11:27Speaker 3: This is what I say. It's like two steps forward,
- 11:30Speaker 3: two steps back. With Hallmark.
- 11:32Speaker 2: They do things like introduce to Mahogany brand and make
- 11:35Speaker 2: all these movies with predominantly cast made up of people
- 11:40Speaker 2: of color, which Bravo like I'm here for it. But
- 11:45Speaker 2: then like it's like they try to like slide it in,
- 11:49Speaker 2: like let's see if this is gonna work before we
- 11:52Speaker 2: like put the marketing dollars into it.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Yeah, like, don't give people on Instagram too much to
- 11:58Speaker 1: yell about exactly.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Oh, Hallmark is so woke, Like just put it in there.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I hope people will watch it. Yeah, I don't. We
- 12:03Speaker 3: don't want the backlash, right right, right, right, so frustrating.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Is it intentional or is it unintentional, in which case
- 12:11Speaker 1: they need to look at why one movie would have
- 12:13Speaker 1: eight Instagram posts dedicated where another one has three.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good question. Yeah yeah, Oh that makes
- 12:24Speaker 2: me mad.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I'm like tired up about that.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Speaking of unbalanced reaction to this movie, I looked at IMDb.
- 12:32Speaker 3: There was exactly one review.
- 12:34Speaker 1: And it's been a full nine days since this movie aired.
- 12:38Speaker 3: I'm shocked.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Either they are deleting comments on there, or reviews on
- 12:43Speaker 2: there that are negative, negative, or people didn't watch the movie.
- 12:49Speaker 1: As much as I dislike when the reviewers get in
- 12:54Speaker 1: there and say hallmarkets too woke, I also think it's
- 12:58Speaker 1: a good gauge. I want to see what the Hallmark
- 13:01Speaker 1: community thinks of these movies, right, and so I hope
- 13:05Speaker 1: that they're not editing reviews that are uncomplimentary, assuming they're
- 13:11Speaker 1: not blatantly racist.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Right. This movie was directed by Terry J. Vaughn. She's
- 13:16Speaker 2: an actor, director, producer. Previous and directing credits include a
- 13:20Speaker 2: ton of holiday movies. She also has seventy two acting
- 13:24Speaker 2: credits including shows like The Neighborhood and HBO's Insecure. Oh yeah,
- 13:30Speaker 2: she's a busy actress too.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Speaking of Chasing Waterfalls, Joyful Drake, who plays Molina in
- 13:38Speaker 1: this movie, also played a role in Chasing Waterfalls alongside
- 13:43Speaker 1: Cindy Busby.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I know I had a good chuckle when you mentioned
- 13:46Speaker 2: Chasing Waterfalls earlier. I was like, I wonder if you
- 13:48Speaker 2: saw that note too.
- 13:50Speaker 3: That's funny.
- 13:51Speaker 1: And Karen Pittman, who plays Alison, had a large role
- 13:56Speaker 1: in the and just like that series on HBO Max Not.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Oh you hated it, I didn't hate it. Not only
- 14:04Speaker 2: that she's one of the leads on the morning show
- 14:08Speaker 2: on Apple TV. She's been in Yellowstone Homeland. I mean,
- 14:13Speaker 2: she's been in.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Some big shows.
- 14:15Speaker 2: She's definitely most recognizable. I think compared to the other
- 14:20Speaker 2: actors in this movie, I was not familiar with anybody
- 14:23Speaker 2: other than Karen Pittman.
- 14:25Speaker 3: All Right, I have one last note.
- 14:28Speaker 2: The writer of this movie is Kaz Singer's Beatles. I
- 14:33Speaker 2: hope I'm saying that right. She's an established writer both novels.
- 14:37Speaker 2: She has got like eight or nine novels and a
- 14:41Speaker 2: writer for television and movies. Cool and has worked with
- 14:44Speaker 2: director Terry vond a lot.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Wasn't she the writer of Sugarplum Twist? She was stars
- 14:50Speaker 3: Ector rivera star of Ground as well. Yes, fun little
- 14:55Speaker 3: tie in there. Yeah. What was your first impression of
- 14:59Speaker 3: this movie?
- 15:00Speaker 2: My first impression is I want more movies like this nice.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Mine was I need to step up my vacation wardrobe.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. I have a note about that later.
- 15:12Speaker 3: What did you like about this movie?
- 15:13Speaker 2: Okay, well I have a kind of big list of
- 15:17Speaker 2: things that I liked.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:20Speaker 2: First of all, I love that this wasn't just a
- 15:24Speaker 2: typical Hallmark movie, felt like a real movie to be
- 15:27Speaker 2: And when I say that is because when we first
- 15:31Speaker 2: started doing these Hallmark movie reviews, the ones that stood
- 15:35Speaker 2: out to me, I would say, this is like a
- 15:36Speaker 2: real movie, you know, like one you would find on
- 15:38Speaker 2: a streaming service. So I really thought this had like
- 15:42Speaker 2: the feel from top to bottom with like a good cast,
- 15:47Speaker 2: It had a good soundtrack, It was beautiful to look at, like,
- 15:49Speaker 2: it felt like a real movie. The thing that I
- 15:54Speaker 2: liked the best about it though, is that its focus
- 15:58Speaker 2: was on friendship rather than romance, which romance was a
- 16:04Speaker 2: you know, storyline, but the through line was friendship and
- 16:07Speaker 2: was very similar to me or I had the same
- 16:10Speaker 2: feelings towards the wedding veil.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Yes, where you have like a group.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Of adult women who support and care for each other,
- 16:18Speaker 2: and we're so inundated with like shows on Bravo that
- 16:22Speaker 2: are just like women fighting all the time. Like, so
- 16:25Speaker 2: it was so refreshing to see like a group of
- 16:28Speaker 2: women who really cared for each other and cared about
- 16:31Speaker 2: each other's lives.
- 16:33Speaker 3: That's what I want more of.
- 16:35Speaker 1: And in that vein, I liked that they loved each other.
- 16:39Speaker 1: This movie was about that kind of love. But they
- 16:42Speaker 1: were not afraid to call each other out and to
- 16:44Speaker 1: break promises that they had made when it became clear
- 16:47Speaker 1: that it wasn't in the best interest of their friends
- 16:49Speaker 1: to keep these secrets because they needed each other to pull.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Their heads out of their asses in a way. It
- 16:56Speaker 3: was nice.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I felt it was refreshing, super refreshing. I really like
- 17:01Speaker 2: the inside jokes that's okay with each other. They had
- 17:05Speaker 2: like an easy conversational feel like the acting was so good,
- 17:10Speaker 2: like just the way that they would bounce off each other.
- 17:15Speaker 2: And I had a criticism last week in Grounds While
- 17:18Speaker 2: where I felt it was very stilted, like I'm reacting
- 17:21Speaker 2: to you when you're reacting it. Just this was heads
- 17:24Speaker 2: and tels above that.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Yeah, the chemistry between the women was great.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Right, exactly did you catch the.
- 17:32Speaker 3: TikTok mention in this movie?
- 17:35Speaker 2: I don't recall I'm paraphrasing, but there was a joke
- 17:38Speaker 2: made about TikTok and one of them just said, like,
- 17:40Speaker 2: we're too old for TikTok, and I just thought it
- 17:42Speaker 2: was so freaking funny because that's how I feel often. Yeah, TikTok,
- 17:48Speaker 2: I'm too old for a lot of things, especially TikTok.
- 17:50Speaker 2: M H.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I thought this movie was visually stunning, sat on location
- 17:54Speaker 1: in Italy. Of course, the scenery provided a beautiful backdrop
- 17:58Speaker 1: to this movie, but I also think wardrobe deserves the
- 18:01Speaker 1: highest of fives because these women were beautifully dressed, and
- 18:05Speaker 1: they each had their own style, but they made it
- 18:07Speaker 1: so that their styles were complimentary to each other, so
- 18:09Speaker 1: that then were walking down a street together.
- 18:11Speaker 3: You've got this beautiful.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Array of color, and I thought, I want to be
- 18:15Speaker 1: the kind of person who brings beautiful dresses and pantsuits
- 18:19Speaker 1: and outfits so that I look camera ready at all
- 18:22Speaker 1: times when I'm traveling, although I'll be with my family
- 18:24Speaker 1: who's in there, like T shirt and cargo shorts, But
- 18:27Speaker 1: I want to have.
- 18:29Speaker 3: A beautiful vacation wardrobe. It felt very aspirational.
- 18:33Speaker 2: I've never had a beautiful vacation warder. I would love
- 18:36Speaker 2: to go to Paris or Italy and dress to the
- 18:38Speaker 2: nines every single day and look like I fit the part.
- 18:42Speaker 2: The script to me, I so appreciate the difficult conversations
- 18:47Speaker 2: that were sprinkled throughout in this movie, and I thought
- 18:53Speaker 2: that it really probably hit for many of the people
- 18:58Speaker 2: who watched, like the demographic, Like we're talking about infertility,
- 19:02Speaker 2: and we're talking about health and cancer and career change
- 19:07Speaker 2: and divorce. I mean, we just talked for an hour
- 19:10Speaker 2: on our Tuesday podcast about career you know, parenting and
- 19:14Speaker 2: career change once our kids are older, coming next week.
- 19:17Speaker 2: You're right, So I think that I want Homework to
- 19:22Speaker 2: make more movies like that. Like, I realize that people
- 19:26Speaker 2: like to watch movies to escape, but a movie about
- 19:31Speaker 2: a twenty something who falls in love with a prince
- 19:35Speaker 2: like is so unrelatable for me that I can't get
- 19:41Speaker 2: into it. That's why I like scoff At. Like to me,
- 19:43Speaker 2: when we say, Homer, maybe that's what I think of,
- 19:46Speaker 2: and I'm like, I can't, I can't do it. Give
- 19:49Speaker 2: me something that I can like hang my hat on
- 19:52Speaker 2: and feel relatable too.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I hear what you're saying. I like a balance. I
- 19:58Speaker 1: do like it an escape. A lot of books that
- 20:00Speaker 1: are very unrealistic. I read a lot of romance.
- 20:02Speaker 3: There's always a happy ending. There's always these you know,
- 20:04Speaker 3: over the top.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Relationships, and I like that in my movies sometimes too.
- 20:09Speaker 1: But I like a balance. And I liked that these women,
- 20:13Speaker 1: while making a Hallmark movie, while you know we're going
- 20:16Speaker 1: to get a happy ending across the board, they weren't
- 20:19Speaker 1: afraid to go there, and I couldn't always predict where
- 20:24Speaker 1: they were going to go, and I wondered Alison was
- 20:28Speaker 1: so reluctant to take this job in spite of the
- 20:30Speaker 1: fact that she loved living in Italy, she loved the
- 20:33Speaker 1: people she worked with, She had this relationship that she
- 20:35Speaker 1: was clearly invested in but really wanted, felt compelled to
- 20:41Speaker 1: take the ten year track position and they she explains
- 20:45Speaker 1: to her friends and tell Luca, as a black woman,
- 20:48Speaker 1: I don't feel like I can afford to take these
- 20:50Speaker 1: chances on my career. This is offering me stability that
- 20:53Speaker 1: I feel like I would be foolish.
- 20:55Speaker 3: To turn away.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And it didn't occur to me because they were both
- 20:59Speaker 1: great jobs. It wasn't like she was like, I'm just
- 21:01Speaker 1: gonna Instagram for the rest of my life.
- 21:05Speaker 3: But I liked that perspective.
- 21:07Speaker 1: And I think that is another reason when the woke
- 21:12Speaker 1: police get upset. Not only is it important for people
- 21:16Speaker 1: to be able to turn on the TV and see
- 21:18Speaker 1: a world that looks like their's reflected back at them,
- 21:21Speaker 1: but it's also important to see storylines that reflect struggles
- 21:24Speaker 1: that you have reflected back at them, and stories that
- 21:27Speaker 1: are not like I'm the big town real estate developer
- 21:30Speaker 1: coming to mow down your candy store.
- 21:35Speaker 3: So I liked that they went there.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Yes, my next note is I don't have like the
- 21:41Speaker 2: perfect place for it, so I'm gonna put it here.
- 21:44Speaker 2: There has been some criticism that this movie had too
- 21:47Speaker 2: much going on, like too many storylines.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Oh, yes, that's I have.
- 21:51Speaker 2: My thought on that is that life is full. Yes,
- 21:55Speaker 2: and then you multiply that by three women, yes, very full.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Two hours of stories. Yeah. Right. So if it was
- 22:03Speaker 2: a singular storyline just about Allison and choosing the job,
- 22:07Speaker 2: we would just have a very watered down look at life.
- 22:11Speaker 2: And so I appreciate that there was multiple stories, multiple layers,
- 22:18Speaker 2: and depth to this movie, even if it was too
- 22:21Speaker 2: much for somebody. But let me also add I do
- 22:25Speaker 2: hate those Hallmark movies that have like your main storyline
- 22:28Speaker 2: and then they throw in these like weird side stories
- 22:31Speaker 2: because they need to move it along. Yes, so, but
- 22:34Speaker 2: I think those are two very different movies. I like
- 22:37Speaker 2: the perspective that life is full and there's a lot
- 22:40Speaker 2: going on. Let me offer you an alternate perspective, and
- 22:43Speaker 2: with that, I hope we're transsitioning into our wish because
- 22:46Speaker 2: this is my one and only wish in this movie.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Comparing this to The Wedding Veil, where we had three
- 22:53Speaker 2: women and three of their own stories that got three movies,
- 22:58Speaker 2: and here we have three co stars with three very
- 23:02Speaker 2: full lives outside of their relate I would say, honestly,
- 23:05Speaker 2: they have more going in their lives than the women
- 23:09Speaker 2: in the Wedding Veil did. And I felt like we
- 23:12Speaker 2: weren't fully able to do justice to each of those
- 23:15Speaker 2: storylines in this hour and twenty minutes that we actually
- 23:19Speaker 2: got to see them on screen. Yeah, I agree, So
- 23:22Speaker 2: I would just have liked to see more from them.
- 23:25Speaker 2: I think you could very easily do a sequel because
- 23:30Speaker 2: as much as all three women had their storyline, we
- 23:33Speaker 2: were in Allison's turf most of the time, and so
- 23:36Speaker 2: a lot of the splinters were meeting her boyfriend's mom
- 23:41Speaker 2: and meeting the people that she works with. And I
- 23:43Speaker 2: think you could do another movie where you have Molina
- 23:46Speaker 2: and the restaurant is the center of the story, and
- 23:50Speaker 2: the other two women are involved, and you have Resa
- 23:54Speaker 2: discovering life with or after infertility.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I do think there's more to do with this movie,
- 24:01Speaker 1: is all I'm saying. And these characters, I agree. I
- 24:04Speaker 1: don't think that's gonna happen, though I don't either.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I think I think they the movie had a big
- 24:09Speaker 2: get with Karen Pittman. I don't think she's gonna become
- 24:12Speaker 2: a regular Homemark star though I love it. I mean,
- 24:16Speaker 2: so would I. I mean I want to watch good
- 24:19Speaker 2: actors on Hallmark. Yeah, and that I'm saying that it's
- 24:24Speaker 2: beneath her. I'm just saying that I think it was
- 24:28Speaker 2: a maybe for this first movie, they needed like a
- 24:33Speaker 2: very recognizable actor. I only have one thing that I
- 24:37Speaker 2: wished for. I felt this movie was a tad bit long,
- 24:42Speaker 2: and I know it was probably only one hundred and
- 24:45Speaker 2: twenty minutes, like you said, but the later third of
- 24:49Speaker 2: the movie, like I just felt it dragged a little bit,
- 24:52Speaker 2: especially and this is I'm conflicted about saying, especially when
- 24:58Speaker 2: Alison was going back and forth about the job stuff.
- 25:02Speaker 2: But like you said earlier, it was a very you know,
- 25:06Speaker 2: interesting perspective for her to weigh those things. But it
- 25:09Speaker 2: needs for me the movie to drag just a smitchem.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Time for did you see that?
- 25:18Speaker 2: You know, I don't. I don't have anything in particular
- 25:20Speaker 2: other than it was such a dreamy location in gorgeous clothing. Yeah,
- 25:24Speaker 2: I want I love that. That felt very like nice
- 25:28Speaker 2: to look at.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I have a few things to say, Okay.
- 25:32Speaker 1: One, a restaurant of viewer is not going to let
- 25:33Speaker 1: you schedule the review. Oh a restaurant reviewer wants to
- 25:36Speaker 1: know what it's like to come eat in your restaurant,
- 25:38Speaker 1: not when I know you're coming, So I'm going to
- 25:39Speaker 1: provide the perfect experience. What's it like when you've got
- 25:41Speaker 1: all the other pressures of running a restaurant? That's what
- 25:44Speaker 1: their review wants to.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Geah, isn't it like always a surprise?
- 25:47Speaker 3: Oh? Please come when I know I'm going to be there. No,
- 25:52Speaker 3: you know, I love to dig into the tweets.
- 25:54Speaker 1: About these movies, and so I've got a couple tweets
- 25:56Speaker 1: i'd like to share. One is a quote from the
- 25:59Speaker 1: movie that I forgot about, and I remember being affected
- 26:03Speaker 1: by the quote when I heard it, and I.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Was glad to see that someone had tweeted it. And
- 26:07Speaker 3: it's from at One Dry Kiss, which is another Hallmark viewer.
- 26:12Speaker 3: The quote is, I have a job. I can't play
- 26:14Speaker 3: with you all day.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Oh that's funny, And that's what Reese's husband says to
- 26:18Speaker 1: her when she's like I'm bored.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Yeah, ooh.
- 26:22Speaker 2: I kind of hits home close to home.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Another is Karen Pittman tweeted film factoid. I literally filmed
- 26:30Speaker 1: the kissing scene with Luca on day two of our
- 26:34Speaker 1: filming in Italy. It was so crazy and odd, the
- 26:37Speaker 1: romantic to kiss a stranger. But by the eighth take,
- 26:39Speaker 1: I think we figured it out.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Isn't that funny how they shoot all these things out
- 26:44Speaker 2: of order? Like imagine having to like kiss someone on
- 26:47Speaker 2: the first day that like you're working together.
- 26:50Speaker 3: But I mean they are professional. So I have one
- 26:53Speaker 3: more thing.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Yes, I do not believe that Reesa, who's a badass
- 26:59Speaker 1: retired military doesn't have the ability to have a conversation
- 27:06Speaker 1: with her husband about the fact that she's nervous about
- 27:09Speaker 1: the next steps. Like she goes to the extreme like
- 27:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna move to literally and get an apartment because
- 27:14Speaker 1: I'm so afraid that my husband's gonna leave me if
- 27:16Speaker 1: we can't have a baby, instead of just saying like,
- 27:20Speaker 1: I'm afraid you're gonna feel different about me if we
- 27:23Speaker 1: can't have a baby, like she'd rather run away and
- 27:26Speaker 1: get an apartment.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I think she's tougher than that. Hey, I mean, yeah,
- 27:32Speaker 3: maybe those could just be hard.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Those are hard conversations, they.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Are, but I think she can handle it. Okay, what
- 27:39Speaker 3: did you rate this movie?
- 27:41Speaker 2: I thought this was a strong start.
- 27:43Speaker 3: I gave it four stars. Oh three point seventy five stars, Oh.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Look at you? Three point seventy five.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Next week we have a doubleheader of Hallmark movies. We
- 27:51Speaker 1: have Mary Go Around m A R R Y and
- 27:55Speaker 1: To Her with Love, another Mahogany offering.
- 27:58Speaker 3: So be sure to come back for that. Remember to
- 28:01Speaker 3: leave your ratings and reviews.
- 28:02Speaker 1: We love five stars and hop on over to our
- 28:05Speaker 1: Facebook group Girls Gone Hallmark. We would love to have
- 28:08Speaker 1: you happy watching Everybody Goodbye Bye,
