- 0:00Speaker 1: Episode 1, The Plastic Brain Growth Mindset and the Biology
- 0:05Speaker 1: of Peak Performance. Hello and welcome to the first episode
- 0:09Speaker 1: of The Performance Code. I am your host, and I
- 0:13Speaker 1: am thrilled to embark on this empowering journey with you. Today...
- 0:19Speaker 1: we are opening the door to a domain that separates
- 0:22Speaker 1: average performers from elite achievers in every field of human endeavor,
- 0:28Speaker 1: the psychology of peak performance and the growth mindset. When
- 0:33Speaker 1: we observe elite performers, whether Olympic gold medalists, world-class musicians,
- 0:40Speaker 1: visionary entrepreneurs, or master surgeons, we often marvel at their
- 0:45Speaker 1: extraordinary exec, Yushin Under Pressure. It is tempting to look
- 0:50Speaker 1: at their achievements and assume they were simply blessed with
- 0:54Speaker 1: rare genetic talent or natural intelligence that ordinary people do
- 0:59Speaker 1: not possess. Psychological Research Pioneered by Stanford Scientist-Doctor Carol Dweck
- 1:07Speaker 1: has proven that while innate potential plays a role, talent
- 1:12Speaker 1: alone does not determine high performance. The fundamental factor that
- 1:17Speaker 1: predicts long-term success, adaptability, and resilience under pressure is what
- 1:23Speaker 1: psychologists call a growth mindset. To understand why a growth
- 1:28Speaker 1: mindset is so transformative, we must examine two contrasts in
- 1:34Speaker 1: psychological frameworks, the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. An
- 1:40Speaker 1: individual operating with a fixed mindset believes that their abilities, intelligence, talent,
- 1:48Speaker 1: and emotional capacities are static, unchangeable traits that they were
- 1:53Speaker 1: born with. When faced with a difficult challenge or a
- 1:57Speaker 1: high stakes setback, a fixed mindset brain interprets the difficulty
- 2:03Speaker 1: as a personal threat, proof that they lack the necessary talent.
- 2:08Speaker 1: As a result, they become defensive, avoid high stakes challenges,
- 2:13Speaker 1: hide mistakes, and give up quickly when friction occurs. An
- 2:18Speaker 1: individual operating with a growth min, D-set, on the other hand,
- 2:23Speaker 1: understands that human abilities are dynamic, highly adaptable qualities that
- 2:29Speaker 1: can be developed through deliberate effort, smart strategy, input, and persistence.
- 2:36Speaker 1: They do not view effort as a sign of weakness.
- 2:39Speaker 1: They view effort as the literal friction required to build
- 2:43Speaker 1: new neural connections in the brain. This psychological distinction is
- 2:49Speaker 1: backed by the biology of neuroplasticity. Your brain possesses an incredible,
- 2:55Speaker 1: lifelong capacity to physically alter its structure, build new synaptic connections,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and strengthen neural pathways in response to focus training and N,
- 3:08Speaker 1: Viren mental demands. When you adopt a growth mindset, your
- 3:12Speaker 1: entire emotional relationship with challenge changes. Failure stops being an
- 3:19Speaker 1: identity statement about who you are and becomes valuable informational
- 3:24Speaker 1: feedback about what needs to be adjusted. Mistakes cease to
- 3:28Speaker 1: provoke shame and become fuel for neural growth. Throughout this
- 3:34Speaker 1: podcast series, we are going to explore triggering flow states
- 3:38Speaker 1: on demand. Recovering Instantly from High-Stakes Mistakes, Designing Pre-Performance Anchoring Rituals,
- 3:47Speaker 1: Balancing High Effort with Strategic Recovery, and Building a Lifelong
- 3:52Speaker 1: Vision for Excellence. Thank you for joining me for this
- 3:55Speaker 1: introductory episode. Reframe one mistake as valuable feedback today and
- 4:02Speaker 1: join me in Episode 2 where we master entering the
- 4:06Speaker 1: flow state on demand. I will see you there.
