- 0:06Speaker 2: App and now Handle on the news. Ladies and gentlemen,
- 0:17Speaker 2: here's Bill Handle. Good morning everybody. It is a Thursday morning,
- 0:27Speaker 2: August twentieth. Handle here and the morning crew.
- 0:31Speaker 3: And in case you have never listened to this show before,
- 0:36Speaker 3: or you have listened to the show before, a bunch,
- 0:39Speaker 3: let me say hello to the crowd. Cono, good morning.
- 0:42Speaker 4: It's a bit part of the show.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's part of the show. Was Cono runs
- 0:46Speaker 3: the board, he presses the buttons to make all of
- 0:49Speaker 3: this happen. And Amy, good morning, Bill, there you are,
- 0:55Speaker 3: Neil Hey, Hey, Hey, Will Coleschreiber, good morning.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Hey.
- 1:00Speaker 3: It's National Radio Day, everybody. I know, I just did
- 1:05Speaker 3: a video for National Radio Day and did I don't know,
- 1:08Speaker 3: did you guys do your National Radio Day videos where
- 1:13Speaker 3: you asked by I had to do one, and basically
- 1:15Speaker 3: I said, we are celebrating National Radio Day today. Now,
- 1:21Speaker 3: notice that I'm saying this on a video, a video
- 1:24Speaker 3: talking about National Radio Day. Hmmm, isn't that ironic? Okay,
- 1:32Speaker 3: with that, there's Will. We're gonna talk about you later.
- 1:35Speaker 3: On by the way, will just let you know in
- 1:36Speaker 3: one of my topics, I can't wait. It's gonna be great.
- 1:39Speaker 3: And then there's Anne. Good morning, Ann, Good Morning Bill,
- 1:42Speaker 3: our producer extraordinaire. Oh, before we get into it, I'm
- 1:45Speaker 3: watching Fox. As you know, I watch all of the
- 1:48Speaker 3: major works up on my on the wall, on my
- 1:51Speaker 3: on the various monitors, and Fox announced that the to
- 2:00Speaker 3: the what is it, the Freedom two fifty Grand Prix,
- 2:04Speaker 3: is going to be held in Washington, d C. On Sunday. Actually,
- 2:08Speaker 3: the real name is the Donald J. Trump Freedom to
- 2:13Speaker 3: fifty Grand Prix, which is going to go by the
- 2:16Speaker 3: way we have we already have what street it's on.
- 2:20Speaker 3: It goes down Donald Trump Avenue to Donald Trump Place,
- 2:24Speaker 3: swings over to Donald Trump Court, ends up at Donald
- 2:28Speaker 3: Trump Street, and then at the end of it, it's
- 2:32Speaker 3: it finishes on the steps of the Donald J. Trump
- 2:37Speaker 3: Memorial Kennedy Memorial Performance Center. Okay, that's just me making
- 2:41Speaker 3: fun of it. In case you haven't guessed it yet,
- 2:43Speaker 3: you're so jealous. I am so jealous.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Oh, you have no idea name on everything?
- 2:49Speaker 3: I want my name on everything. What if you I know,
- 2:52Speaker 3: I was going to make fun of the new helipad
- 2:55Speaker 3: that is now being built in the White House.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Is Donald J. Trump helipad.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Actually, I'm going to give him some kudos on this one. Okay,
- 3:03Speaker 3: it is not the Donald J. Trump hell have had.
- 3:06Speaker 3: His name is on it. But the way he's done
- 3:09Speaker 3: it is he's taken a plaque, a round plaque of
- 3:13Speaker 3: basically a coin and put his name and likeness on
- 3:17Speaker 3: it and then put it upside down into the concrete.
- 3:22Speaker 3: So his name is on it, but in a very
- 3:25Speaker 3: unobstrusive way, which I thought was, you know, it's like
- 3:28Speaker 3: one of those time capsules. You put things in it,
- 3:30Speaker 3: no one sees it.
- 3:31Speaker 4: I thought it was, okay, typically that's subtle.
- 3:34Speaker 3: No, it's pretty subtle. I kind of like that. I
- 3:36Speaker 3: kind of do like that. And that's legitimate by the
- 3:38Speaker 3: way he built it, and he is saying, okay, my
- 3:41Speaker 3: name is on it, but not in any way that
- 3:43Speaker 3: is out there, and which is very strange for Donald
- 3:47Speaker 3: Trump to do something like that, very nuanced, very subtle,
- 3:50Speaker 3: very low key, because that you cannot argue is how
- 3:54Speaker 3: you described Donald Trump. Oh and let's not forget for
- 3:57Speaker 3: the Grand Prix, there is there new technology on the cars.
- 4:01Speaker 3: It's the new Trump class of race cars that they're doing.
- 4:07Speaker 3: While they're not doing that. We do have a bunch
- 4:09Speaker 3: of Trump, a new Trump class of destroyers. You know
- 4:13Speaker 3: that there are new warships. It's a new Trump class.
- 4:18Speaker 3: We have the Neimus class already. We have the submarines.
- 4:22Speaker 3: There's the Los Angeles. I think there's Los Angeles class.
- 4:25Speaker 3: So I'm not mistaken of submarines anyway. So much for that.
- 4:28Speaker 3: That's just me having a good time, and I just
- 4:31Speaker 3: thought that would make a few people pissed off, which
- 4:35Speaker 3: I really enjoy. And do I get any emails regarding
- 4:39Speaker 3: how much fun I make of Trump naming everything after him,
- 4:42Speaker 3: or that's just that. No, I don't think we have
- 4:44Speaker 3: an email address. Oh I don't have an email address.
- 4:47Speaker 3: That's true, because I don't want to hear your emails
- 4:49Speaker 3: or look at your emails. But I think I think
- 4:51Speaker 3: which just goes to the station, doesn't it? Or maybe
- 4:53Speaker 3: it just goes to iHeart.
- 4:55Speaker 4: We get plenty of talkbacks.
- 4:59Speaker 3: How do they run Neil talkbacks? They call in right
- 5:03Speaker 3: and then they're recorded, or if someone picks the money.
- 5:05Speaker 4: To the screen right in front of me right now.
- 5:07Speaker 5: The same way they do. Ask candle anything.
- 5:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Oh okay, mister technology here at work, the technology maven.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Yes, okay, some of them make me laugh.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Okay, fair enough, all right, guys, enough of that, that's
- 5:26Speaker 3: just me making myself ridiculous. Okay, it is time for
- 5:31Speaker 3: handle on the news on this Thursday, August twentieth with
- 5:36Speaker 3: Amy and Neil and me leads already. Well, the US
- 5:42Speaker 3: hit forty trillion dollars in debt. Yeeha. Our national debt
- 5:49Speaker 3: has now topped forty trillion dollars, and boy does that
- 5:53Speaker 3: affect us big time, mainly our ability to borrow more money.
- 5:57Speaker 3: The way we borrow is selling bonds, and the decades
- 6:02Speaker 3: of borrowing money to pay for the military, rising costs,
- 6:05Speaker 3: social safety nets, the tax cut that the President instituted
- 6:09Speaker 3: with a great, big, beautiful, the big beautiful bill. Because
- 6:12Speaker 3: whenever there is a tax cut, whenever revenues stopped coming
- 6:15Speaker 3: in to the government and the expenditure is the same,
- 6:20Speaker 3: guess what. The only way to deal with it is
- 6:22Speaker 3: just to borrow more money. It's not that complicated. And
- 6:26Speaker 3: a lot of people say, is this good? Is it bad? Well,
- 6:29Speaker 3: you know, I can't see how it's good. I mean,
- 6:32Speaker 3: there's there to reach a point where it becomes insurmountable.
- 6:34Speaker 3: We're in so much debt, you know, it just topples
- 6:38Speaker 3: or the curves bank every time. I know, and it
- 6:42Speaker 3: doesn't stop, I know, it starts. One of the things
- 6:44Speaker 3: that we'd hit trillions, No, it wasn't. When under Obama's
- 6:49Speaker 3: tenure it hit twenty trillion dollars and the president made
- 6:52Speaker 3: a huge deal about that. Donald Trump did, and he
- 6:55Speaker 3: should have. He was right. That was a ridiculous The
- 6:58Speaker 3: amount of debt we're getting into, well it's doubled since then.
- 7:02Speaker 3: We're going to be two trillion dollars more in debt
- 7:05Speaker 3: just this year. That is spending two trillion dollars more
- 7:10Speaker 3: than we are taking in.
- 7:12Speaker 4: That's two elon musks, it is.
- 7:14Speaker 3: I mean, it is just crazy. I'm going to talk
- 7:17Speaker 3: more about that at seven o'clock because that really is nuts.
- 7:22Speaker 3: And how long, Well, I'll tell you right now. If
- 7:24Speaker 3: we balance the budget and not one dime has spent
- 7:28Speaker 3: more than it has taken in revenue neutral and we
- 7:33Speaker 3: have a three percent inflation rate, it will take thirty
- 7:36Speaker 3: just based on inflation, because the only way you can
- 7:38Speaker 3: pay this away is inflation. Inflation your way out of
- 7:41Speaker 3: this it's over thirty three years to erase the debt,
- 7:45Speaker 3: thirty three years with no deficit in the budget every
- 7:50Speaker 3: year zero, not one dollar more than is coming in.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Last time that happened was one year during Clinton and
- 7:58Speaker 3: one year during Eisenhur Okay, moving on.
- 8:04Speaker 6: Well, that's a hell of a project. President took reporters
- 8:11Speaker 6: on a tour of his planned helipad. Workers have been
- 8:14Speaker 6: constructing it around the clock on the White House's South lawn.
- 8:18Speaker 6: Trump approved the project after current and former officials spent
- 8:22Speaker 6: a lot of time in a lot of years trying
- 8:24Speaker 6: to figure out how to accommodate the next generation of
- 8:27Speaker 6: Marine one helicopters, which apparently run the risk of burning
- 8:30Speaker 6: the lawn.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it does, it does. I mean there's no problem
- 8:34Speaker 3: with helipad being built. I mean it makes sense. And
- 8:39Speaker 3: I love the idea of taking a tour, points to
- 8:42Speaker 3: a concrete circle and goes there. It is. I don't
- 8:46Speaker 3: know what kind of a tour that would be, but
- 8:49Speaker 3: so be it. And he also took reporters through the
- 8:54Speaker 3: side of the new ballroom. In any case, as I
- 8:57Speaker 3: said earlier, and this one is where Donald where Donald
- 9:01Speaker 3: Trump's name is going to be on the helipad, but
- 9:04Speaker 3: very very subtly, it'll be on a coin, a plaque,
- 9:09Speaker 3: a metal plaque that's going to go upside down into
- 9:12Speaker 3: the helipad, saying effectively that he built it, which I
- 9:16Speaker 3: think is totally legitimate. Would you ever think that I
- 9:20Speaker 3: would say Donald Trump's name on something is totally legitimate.
- 9:24Speaker 5: I'm gobsmacked.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I know, gob smacked. I know it's stunning, isn't it? Okay?
- 9:29Speaker 3: One more before we take a break, all right.
- 9:31Speaker 7: The thirty year old man we know as Jonathan Renderconnect
- 9:37Speaker 7: is coming out and saying that again that he's not
- 9:42Speaker 7: guilty of the fires, those deadly LA fires that happened
- 9:47Speaker 7: just a couple of januaries back. He said he pleaded
- 9:51Speaker 7: not guilty again yesterday after federal prosecutors recast the charges
- 9:55Speaker 7: against him following a mistrial. That's stunned a lot of people,
- 10:00Speaker 7: me included. The effort by federal prosecutors reflects a push
- 10:04Speaker 7: of accountability for the deadly twenty twenty five Palisades fire,
- 10:08Speaker 7: even after ten of twelve jurors voted in June to
- 10:13Speaker 7: find the man not guilty. So they've added he now
- 10:18Speaker 7: faces some felony charges.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Actually, they've reduced a couple.
- 10:22Speaker 7: Of charges, and yes, he went from three to two. Right, Yeah,
- 10:28Speaker 7: the arson.
- 10:28Speaker 3: And it focuses only on one fire, the Lachman fire.
- 10:32Speaker 3: And a quick note about this. When it looks like
- 10:36Speaker 3: ten out of twelve jurors go one way or the
- 10:39Speaker 3: other in terms of guilt or innocence, the prosecutors take
- 10:44Speaker 3: a good look at that and normally would say, okay,
- 10:47Speaker 3: ten out of twelve four not guilty. We're not going
- 10:50Speaker 3: to refile. But in some cases are so big that
- 10:54Speaker 3: they have to refile. I that's what's going on here.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Quite often it's on I don't think we're going to
- 11:01Speaker 3: go for it because look at how many people wanted
- 11:03Speaker 3: not guilty verdicts on the jury.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Okay, okay, So what if you could stop cancer before
- 11:08Speaker 6: it started? Moderna shares more than doubled yesterday after the
- 11:13Speaker 6: company announced initial results from a study of an experimental
- 11:16Speaker 6: cancer treatment that would be a first of its kind.
- 11:20Speaker 6: Moderna and merk are developing a treatment using an mRNA
- 11:24Speaker 6: based cancer vaccine called into in Tismaran something like that.
- 11:31Speaker 6: The study compared using Intismaran and key Trudah, which is
- 11:36Speaker 6: already on the market, and patients who got the combination
- 11:39Speaker 6: lived longer without cancer returning or metastasizing than patients who
- 11:44Speaker 6: just got key truda.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Do you know that Sometimes when you have a drug
- 11:49Speaker 3: that's being tested and it's human testing and it's the
- 11:53Speaker 3: double blind study for real testing, you know, the FDA
- 11:55Speaker 3: kind of testing that you have to get FDA certified
- 11:58Speaker 3: for the drug. It's when you have something that is
- 12:01Speaker 3: wildly successful and you've got half of the control group
- 12:07Speaker 3: not getting getting the drug, getting a placebo, the other
- 12:11Speaker 3: half getting the drug and they're surviving at big rates,
- 12:17Speaker 3: they throw away the test. They just start using the
- 12:20Speaker 3: drug on people because it's it's just saving lives. When
- 12:23Speaker 3: it's that, when it's that obvious, doesn't happen very often.
- 12:28Speaker 3: But I'm wondering if this does, because there are certain
- 12:32Speaker 3: drugs that that has happened to.
- 12:34Speaker 4: Can you imagine being the placebo group?
- 12:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you go, oh, and you don't know. All
- 12:40Speaker 3: you know is you're dying and you know that the
- 12:42Speaker 3: other person over there has just left to go play badminton,
- 12:47Speaker 3: and yeah, yeah, it's a tough one. That's the whole
- 12:49Speaker 3: point is the placebo group disappears and out becomes part
- 12:53Speaker 3: of the trial group. Getting the getting the medication.
- 12:58Speaker 4: All right?
- 12:59Speaker 7: Mission to rescue NASA's falling Swift Observatory. We heard Amy
- 13:05Speaker 7: talking about this on wake up call was called off
- 13:08Speaker 7: yesterday and that basically dooms this space telescope to destructive
- 13:14Speaker 7: atmospheric reentry later this year. Amy, did they say when
- 13:18Speaker 7: it was supposed to come back?
- 13:20Speaker 6: They said it could fall out of orbit by about October,
- 13:24Speaker 6: but it's not expected to impact the Earth. It's expected
- 13:27Speaker 6: to completely burn up and re entry.
- 13:29Speaker 3: And is it re entering at a much much faster
- 13:32Speaker 3: rate than normal satellites?
- 13:34Speaker 2: Do?
- 13:36Speaker 6: I think it's not, because you know, they spent thirty
- 13:38Speaker 6: million dollars trying to save this thing by getting pushing
- 13:41Speaker 6: it up into an orbit and it didn't work.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Amy, You miss that it's the Swift Observatory. Oh I did. Yeah,
- 13:53Speaker 3: that's why he had to tell us. Yeah, that's why
- 13:56Speaker 3: this is called a bill Handle show. It's because of
- 13:59Speaker 3: the humor. Yes, it's horrible.
- 14:02Speaker 7: Yeah, they said it was a high it was a
- 14:06Speaker 7: high risk, high reward challenge that they're proud of and
- 14:09Speaker 7: the milestones they reached.
- 14:10Speaker 4: They learned a lot. But yeah, it's going to come down.
- 14:13Speaker 5: You don't haven't up there for twenty two years.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Yeah, how do they bring they move a satellite up.
- 14:19Speaker 3: It doesn't have refueling. I guess it's out of fuel.
- 14:22Speaker 5: It doesn't have propulsion.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Yeah, so they sent to do it.
- 14:26Speaker 6: They sent up a craft kind of we were likening it,
- 14:29Speaker 6: dumbing it down to wally where it was going to
- 14:31Speaker 6: go up try to grab the satellite and then push
- 14:33Speaker 6: it upp into a higher orbit.
- 14:35Speaker 3: And there's no place where you can grab it. It's
- 14:37Speaker 3: not like it has grappling hooks or anything.
- 14:40Speaker 5: It doesn't.
- 14:41Speaker 6: So, yeah, the thing that they sent up has like
- 14:43Speaker 6: three arms and was supposed to try to gently push it.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Yeah, just wondering how they Yeah, it was. It's just interesting. Yeah,
- 14:50Speaker 3: I'm not surprised.
- 14:51Speaker 5: Well, at least she was honest. Right.
- 14:53Speaker 6: During the only debate for the runoff election to determine
- 14:58Speaker 6: the next Senator from North Carolina, late Senator Lindsey Graham's
- 15:03Speaker 6: sister Darlene, who's running for his seat on a permanent basis,
- 15:07Speaker 6: was asked a question about the importance of Taiwan to
- 15:10Speaker 6: US interests, and she kind of sat there for a
- 15:13Speaker 6: second and said, you know, that's.
- 15:16Speaker 5: She's not that informed on national security. That prompted booze
- 15:20Speaker 5: from the audience.
- 15:21Speaker 6: She did say I'm not a politician or a polished
- 15:24Speaker 6: politician up here.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Yeah, her saying I'm not informed, I think goes both ways.
- 15:31Speaker 3: One is she clearly is not informed, and that's tough
- 15:36Speaker 3: for us cenator to be, particularly since Lindsay Graham was
- 15:38Speaker 3: a true expert on foreign relations. I mean he's been there,
- 15:41Speaker 3: he had been doing that for decades. So the argument
- 15:44Speaker 3: is she doesn't know what the hell she's doing. How
- 15:46Speaker 3: do you vote for her? Her argument is I'm not
- 15:49Speaker 3: a politician, and that's why you should vote for me.
- 15:52Speaker 3: And I'm going to follow my brother's footsteps and keep
- 15:56Speaker 3: in mind, he was wildly successful in South Carolina. So
- 16:02Speaker 3: we'll see if that Translates's going to be interesting. It's
- 16:04Speaker 3: going to be a very interesting vote come November.
- 16:09Speaker 7: Well, this is no real surprise that Californians are more
- 16:13Speaker 7: concerned about Trump and his possible interference in a mid
- 16:17Speaker 7: term than fraud at the polls. So when you live
- 16:21Speaker 7: in an area with the majority of voters sixty one
- 16:24Speaker 7: percent identifying potential federal interference as a major concern versus
- 16:30Speaker 7: fifty nine percent who cited possible foreign interference. This really
- 16:35Speaker 7: kind of breaks down to the fact that registered Democrats
- 16:39Speaker 7: outnumber Republicans two to one margin here.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Yeah, of course, now a note about this, and I
- 16:47Speaker 3: am one of those that's more concerned about the Trump
- 16:50Speaker 3: administration interfering because we know by executive order he wants
- 16:53Speaker 3: to do away with mail in ballots straight out, and
- 16:56Speaker 3: California relies on mail in ballots. I think eighty percent
- 16:59Speaker 3: of the vote is now a mail in ballots in California.
- 17:03Speaker 3: And you talk about voter fraud, I'd like to see
- 17:07Speaker 3: some if he could come up with real voter fraud,
- 17:10Speaker 3: I'm on his side. I mean, if he could come
- 17:13Speaker 3: up with it. But Trump has a way of saying
- 17:15Speaker 3: this is what's happening, and there's no evidence that's the problem.
- 17:19Speaker 3: And so yeah, I don't like the President saying there'll
- 17:23Speaker 3: be no mail in ballots. I don't like the fact
- 17:25Speaker 3: that the Constitution says this is the states determine which
- 17:29Speaker 3: way we vote, and the President saying no, no, I'll
- 17:32Speaker 3: determine which way we vote. That's a tough one, just saying.
- 17:38Speaker 7: Looking at the so called balance here, you had eighty
- 17:40Speaker 7: percent of Democratic respondents to the poll versus twenty eight
- 17:45Speaker 7: percent of Republicans.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Yeah, well it breaks down. Everything is party lines today,
- 17:50Speaker 3: everything straight down the line.
- 17:54Speaker 6: So you think it's hard to find work in the
- 17:56Speaker 6: industry now, Paramount Skuiddances proposed one hundred and eleven billion dollar
- 18:01Speaker 6: takeover of Warner Brothers Discovery could result in forty five
- 18:05Speaker 6: hundred jobs lost in the LA area over a three
- 18:09Speaker 6: year period.
- 18:10Speaker 5: That's in a new report.
- 18:11Speaker 6: LA County supervisors earlier this year had asked to get
- 18:16Speaker 6: a potential economic impact of the merger. The report was
- 18:20Speaker 6: just completed this week. It says LA Counties film and
- 18:23Speaker 6: television economies already undergoing a significant structural contraction. The proposed
- 18:28Speaker 6: merger of Warner Brothers Discovery and Paramounts Guidance introduces an
- 18:32Speaker 6: additional source of risk into that already changing market.
- 18:36Speaker 3: So I'm a little confused, Amy, which of the Warner
- 18:40Speaker 3: Brothers Discovery mergers is in play here? The one that
- 18:44Speaker 3: says there going to be more jobs and it's going
- 18:48Speaker 3: to help the industry in Southern California or the one
- 18:51Speaker 3: that says we're going to lose forty five hundred jobs.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Which one works?
- 18:57Speaker 5: You can't ask me that question.
- 18:59Speaker 3: I understand it's just math, that's all.
- 19:03Speaker 4: All right.
- 19:04Speaker 7: After nearly six years of debate, going back and forth
- 19:08Speaker 7: and some backlash, California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection
- 19:12Speaker 7: voted unanimously yesterday to adopt new landscaping requirements within five
- 19:18Speaker 7: feet of homes. They're dubbing this special area zone zero famillion.
- 19:25Speaker 5: With them six years.
- 19:26Speaker 7: Yeah, so millions of Californians living in fire prone areas,
- 19:31Speaker 7: they're going to have to have these new requirements in
- 19:35Speaker 7: the worst hazard zones, by the way, specifically state responsibility areas,
- 19:41Speaker 7: very high fire hazard severity zones, and local responsibility areas.
- 19:47Speaker 7: I love when we pay more and more taxes for
- 19:50Speaker 7: the government to tell us all of this is our problem.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Well, you know, to Amy's point, it took six years.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Who is fighting this? You have to have plants five
- 20:02Speaker 3: feet from your from the property or and you have
- 20:06Speaker 3: you can't have kindley wood within file.
- 20:09Speaker 7: They don't want stacks of wood, you know, because in
- 20:11Speaker 7: mountains and fire prone areas are usually I know.
- 20:15Speaker 3: I understand this, but Neil that that's the point. Who
- 20:18Speaker 3: would be fighting this regulation? Well?
- 20:21Speaker 5: And who's going to enforce it?
- 20:22Speaker 6: Because here's what it doesn't ban plants and stuff within
- 20:27Speaker 6: five feet. It bans things like firewood falling leaves and
- 20:33Speaker 6: branches and mulch and wood chips within five feet.
- 20:37Speaker 3: You can have the you know, you can have the
- 20:39Speaker 3: firewood police come out.
- 20:41Speaker 5: About the leaves police. When police start falling in the
- 20:45Speaker 5: fall exactly, I started issuing.
- 20:48Speaker 3: But then the issue you issue citation. It's easy to
- 20:50Speaker 3: have monitors. You have the cops.
- 20:52Speaker 4: You have I come by for us.
- 20:55Speaker 3: They do, they do specially.
- 20:57Speaker 7: They give us requirements. But the pine needles are hard
- 21:02Speaker 7: to pick up. And those are kindling.
- 21:04Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yea nice.
- 21:07Speaker 3: But I want to know who was on the other
- 21:08Speaker 3: side of this, who fought this for six years? Yeah?
- 21:12Speaker 3: I don't, I don't. I don't get it, you know,
- 21:14Speaker 3: I okay, fair enough, by the way, pine needles, I
- 21:19Speaker 3: don't know. If you've ever used pineapples pine needles for
- 21:22Speaker 3: pickup sticks, you can remember mine, remember that game with
- 21:26Speaker 3: the pickup sticks?
- 21:27Speaker 6: And okay, so wasn't the wildlife that got them on
- 21:32Speaker 6: this Safari? Seven people, including five Americans, were killed when
- 21:37Speaker 6: a Safari helicopter crashed in Kenya. It happened in a
- 21:41Speaker 6: remote part of northern Kenya. Among those killed were an
- 21:45Speaker 6: executive with Telemundo and the director of Ecuador's National Intelligence Service.
- 21:51Speaker 6: The helicopter went down in a rugged area in the
- 21:53Speaker 6: foothills of Mount Ola Laqui, which is a popular tourist destined.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Yeah. I was watching the news last night and the
- 22:04Speaker 3: helicopter is supposed to land on this ledge and they
- 22:07Speaker 3: think it went right into the mountain or the blade
- 22:10Speaker 3: clip the mountain and the boom finished.
- 22:15Speaker 4: Aren't you going on one of these safaris this year?
- 22:18Speaker 3: I am, I am, but I'm not taking I'm not
- 22:20Speaker 3: going in a helicopter. I'll tell you that.
- 22:22Speaker 5: We took a balloon ride on the set.
- 22:24Speaker 3: That's what I'm gonna do. That's what I'm going to
- 22:25Speaker 3: do the most.
- 22:26Speaker 5: I can't wait to hear about it.
- 22:27Speaker 6: Bill.
- 22:28Speaker 5: It's the most fabulous thing you will ever see.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Yeah, you go up in the air, you look down,
- 22:33Speaker 3: and then you land. That's basically it.
- 22:36Speaker 5: It's a little it's a little more interesting than that.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Okay, Well you don't have to go. No, of course
- 22:42Speaker 3: I have to go. For God's sake, of course I
- 22:44Speaker 3: have to go.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Okay, so you are going in something possibly dangerous in the.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Balls are dangerous. Although I have been in a balloon before,
- 22:53Speaker 3: and I have these horrible Nightmary dreams or fantasies in
- 22:59Speaker 3: a negative way of going straight through the bottom of
- 23:03Speaker 3: the basket that it gives way and.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Unravels and that handle.
- 23:08Speaker 3: That's what. Yeah, it's not pleasant.
- 23:11Speaker 7: Okay anyway, So Cono, don't stop those Savedra and Cono
- 23:15Speaker 7: in the morning shirts just yet.
- 23:18Speaker 4: You got it, all right.
- 23:20Speaker 7: So one of California's most scenic roadways and we all
- 23:23Speaker 7: love it, is turning high tech eyes on you and
- 23:27Speaker 7: me speeding there. Malibu has installed these speed cameras as
- 23:31Speaker 7: part of the pH Speed Safety System. It's nearing its completion.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Now.
- 23:37Speaker 7: We all know that there's horrible accidents that go along
- 23:40Speaker 7: that stretch, which is beautiful and quite lovely. But the
- 23:44Speaker 7: city called the safety system necessary because we hear of
- 23:49Speaker 7: these dozens yeah constantly.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Why do you question why they haven't done this before?
- 23:54Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 23:54Speaker 7: I mean you're talking about twenty one miles this portion
- 23:57Speaker 7: of PCH. Yeah, and there's cost lead people dying on there.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Well, have you ever been on PCH where there is
- 24:04Speaker 3: no bumper to bumper? People are going one hundred and
- 24:06Speaker 3: twenty miles an hour down that road.
- 24:08Speaker 7: Yeah, I used to take it quite a bit when
- 24:10Speaker 7: we were in Ktown. I take it back to Newbury Park, a.
- 24:15Speaker 6: Win for Bill Handle. The Kennedy Center says it's going
- 24:19Speaker 6: to hold off on putting Donald Trump's name back onto
- 24:22Speaker 6: the performing arts building because there's an ongoing legal battle.
- 24:27Speaker 6: So the center, remember they put Donald Trump and next
- 24:31Speaker 6: to Kennedy and then the court said no, you can't
- 24:34Speaker 6: do that and made them take it down. And then
- 24:36Speaker 6: the board, which is Trump aligned, voted last week to
- 24:40Speaker 6: add the president's name to the building.
- 24:42Speaker 5: Again, that's being fought.
- 24:45Speaker 6: Representative Joyce Beatty from Ohio is seeking to have the
- 24:49Speaker 6: court block this latest move. So the court or so
- 24:53Speaker 6: this Kennedy Center says, mm, we're going to wait until
- 24:55Speaker 6: at least September eighth before we look what they're doing.
- 24:58Speaker 3: But look what they're doing. The court said, you can't
- 25:00Speaker 3: put his name on it as the name of the
- 25:04Speaker 3: Kennedy Center itself. So that's off.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Now.
- 25:07Speaker 3: What they want to do is put the Kennedy Memorial Center,
- 25:10Speaker 3: the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts,
- 25:13Speaker 3: restored and renovated by President Donald J. Trump, which is
- 25:18Speaker 3: not the name of the center. It just describes the
- 25:20Speaker 3: renovation and that's going to be up on the wall.
- 25:23Speaker 3: I don't know, kind of letters. Maybe it's bigger than
- 25:26Speaker 3: the name of Kennedy. And then and then they are
- 25:30Speaker 3: now considering renovated by President Donald J. Trump, who is
- 25:34Speaker 3: the bestest president we've ever or will have.
- 25:39Speaker 4: This is a.
- 25:42Speaker 3: So obsessed about this. I don't get it. Why the
- 25:46Speaker 3: Kennedy Center, I I, you know, I don't.
- 25:51Speaker 7: Know what mine should do. They should do a light
- 25:54Speaker 7: etching on the side of the wall with every last
- 25:57Speaker 7: name of every president, just the light etching, so every
- 26:01Speaker 7: president's on there.
- 26:02Speaker 3: But it's yeah, but that takes away, that takes away
- 26:04Speaker 3: from restored by the Donald sorted by Donald A.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Trump.
- 26:09Speaker 3: So they're going to argue that that we're not renaming it,
- 26:12Speaker 3: we're merely describing what has happened to it. So it's
- 26:17Speaker 3: the fight just goes on and on. And of course
- 26:19Speaker 3: it's the independent board that's making this decision on the
- 26:22Speaker 3: Kennedy Center, which whose chairman happens to be oh, I
- 26:25Speaker 3: don't know Donald Trump. Uh, and the other board members
- 26:29Speaker 3: are selected by oh, I don't know Donald Trump.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Okay, moving, I mean they should put chairman Trump on
- 26:36Speaker 4: this side.
- 26:37Speaker 7: Moving on, all right? The drug the DEA joining an investigation.
- 26:42Speaker 7: We all heard about Hayden Panitier's death and now the
- 26:49Speaker 7: DEA is getting joining that investigation into this actress's death.
- 26:56Speaker 7: We haven't heard anything really as to how she does.
- 27:00Speaker 7: We kind of can guess around some of the things.
- 27:04Speaker 7: But she had an on again offin relationship with boyfriend
- 27:09Speaker 7: Brian Hickerson, and apparently he and his brother Zach were
- 27:14Speaker 7: there when she died, and they're looking into I don't know,
- 27:21Speaker 7: maybe foul play the drugs that were used.
- 27:23Speaker 3: You know, I have a question and that is uh,
- 27:26Speaker 3: you know, not that I don't think it's it's a
- 27:28Speaker 3: big story first for family and friends, but why is
- 27:31Speaker 3: this such a big story? I mean, how many drug
- 27:33Speaker 3: overdoses happened yesterday where people died.
- 27:36Speaker 4: She was very open about some issues that she.
- 27:39Speaker 7: Had and I get that that came out and she
- 27:42Speaker 7: was quite beloved and when you're when you're struggling and
- 27:47Speaker 7: you're honest about it.
- 27:48Speaker 3: But that's a lot of people. I mean, it's that
- 27:50Speaker 3: she wasn't alone in talking about her drug overdose, but
- 27:53Speaker 3: she wrote her drug Problems. I just to me, I
- 27:57Speaker 3: just think that it's a big deal is made of
- 28:00Speaker 3: people who are in Hollywood.
- 28:02Speaker 7: Yeah, but her book came out in May, so it's
- 28:04Speaker 7: kind of fresh that she's been talking and was in
- 28:07Speaker 7: the you know, the light about some of this.
- 28:10Speaker 6: And I think Mel's right too. I mean, she was beloved.
- 28:12Speaker 6: I remember the first time I saw her was in
- 28:16Speaker 6: Remember the Titans when she was a kid, and.
- 28:18Speaker 5: I just she was just a beautiful little actress and
- 28:22Speaker 5: she was about her.
- 28:23Speaker 3: I think you're right there was something that all right, now,
- 28:27Speaker 3: you know, maybe I don't Maybe I don't see it.
- 28:28Speaker 3: I also didn't know who she was either, so I've
- 28:30Speaker 3: never seen that, I think, so imagine it being Clark
- 28:34Speaker 3: Gable to you, Wow, Clark Gable, Carry Grant better, real
- 28:48Speaker 3: name of Clark Gable. I think it was Archie Moore.
- 28:51Speaker 3: You can look that up, I think so wow. Really no, now,
- 28:54Speaker 3: real name of I'm sorry, Carry Grant. I think was
- 28:57Speaker 3: Archie Moore. Yeah, you can look that one up.
- 28:59Speaker 4: Big fan of magic, he was. He was on the
- 29:03Speaker 4: board there at the Magic Castle.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Oh, Amy, was I right on that?
- 29:08Speaker 5: I don't know. I didn't enough. You want me too?
- 29:11Speaker 3: Yeah, real quickly, we'll see if I was right. Another
- 29:14Speaker 3: useless fact.
- 29:16Speaker 4: Yeah, let's see then, look up Rex the Wonderhorse.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Yeah, let's see if I'm a leech oh Archie Leach. Okay,
- 29:24Speaker 3: got it, So I'm I get a B plus on
- 29:26Speaker 3: that one.
- 29:27Speaker 7: You just threw a name that vaguely sounded like no,
- 29:31Speaker 7: no first name Archie.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Okay, I got that, and something I did not say, Oscar.
- 29:36Speaker 3: But that's nice, nice to hear. Okay, We're done with
- 29:40Speaker 3: the news. Coming up. The US debt just hit forty
- 29:45Speaker 3: trillion dollars and I'm going to jump into that because boy,
- 29:49Speaker 3: that is newsworthy. Kf I am six forty.
