- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome in to deg XAM this Wednesday. I'm Connuntie, Stevens,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Frans X and John Oser with us today as we
- 0:21Speaker 1: get ready for a massive matchup on the road in
- 0:24Speaker 1: Week sixteen, taking on the Denver Broncos. We're going to
- 0:26Speaker 1: talk a little bit about what's going on with the
- 0:28Speaker 1: team and also look ahead and talk about what's going
- 0:30Speaker 1: on in the league as well. Let's start off with
- 0:32Speaker 1: our Big Things today, brought to you by GEJ Government
- 0:35Speaker 1: Employees Health Association. So Big Thing number one is Toot
- 0:39Speaker 1: in troubles. Some reports coming out earlier this week that
- 0:42Speaker 1: facial toot and suffering a finger injury that's going to
- 0:45Speaker 1: keep him out for a couple of weeks. Brian, we
- 0:47Speaker 1: saw him leave that game against the Jets, didn't come
- 0:49Speaker 1: back in now hearing he might be out for a
- 0:51Speaker 1: couple of weeks. Where's your concern go?
- 0:53Speaker 2: Not very high, to be honest with The Jaguars have
- 0:55Speaker 2: been able to become much more significant injuries. You know,
- 0:58Speaker 2: they've played without many offenses Lineman, they've played without Trayvon Walker.
- 1:02Speaker 2: They've had injuries to their best safety, to their best
- 1:05Speaker 2: corner and it hasn't slowed them down. They're ten and
- 1:07Speaker 2: four and firmly in position in the AFC South, So
- 1:11Speaker 2: not really. You know, he's had a couple of injuries,
- 1:13Speaker 2: had a shoulder, he had a concussion. Now it's the finger.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I just think that this Jaguars organization, from the personnel
- 1:19Speaker 2: department that James Gladstone oversees to the coaching department obviously,
- 1:23Speaker 2: which Liam Cohen has control of. I think they'll have
- 1:26Speaker 2: a plan and they'll find a way to keep it
- 1:28Speaker 2: going with Leuquin Allen junior. Maybe bring to Quinton Jackson
- 1:31Speaker 2: up off of the practice squad. He's been with them
- 1:33Speaker 2: since training camp. They'll find a way to overcome it.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree, you wish you had him because he's
- 1:40Speaker 3: really fast and you feel like he's been close to
- 1:43Speaker 3: breaking one in a big game like the one in Denver.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Threo's big plays from you know, quote unknown people can
- 1:52Speaker 3: make a difference, you know, I think he's ready to
- 1:55Speaker 3: have that kind of a play. But to Brian's point,
- 1:59Speaker 3: this team, if it has a trademark, it's been its
- 2:02Speaker 3: ability to overcome injuries and have the guys playing for
- 2:06Speaker 3: those players play just as well, so they should make it.
- 2:10Speaker 4: I wish they had.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Let's go to our second big thing today, which is
- 2:13Speaker 1: the new normal. We've talked a lot about what the
- 2:14Speaker 1: new standard for the Jaguars is going to be going forward.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Now with Trevor Lawrence showing off having the best performance
- 2:20Speaker 1: of his career against the Jets, Jiam Cohen talked about
- 2:23Speaker 1: the new normal for Trevor.
- 2:24Speaker 5: Going forward since maybe the buye of having a little
- 2:28Speaker 5: bit more of an evaluation of who we are has
- 2:31Speaker 5: helped us continue to foster improvement and improve. And he's
- 2:38Speaker 5: handling I mean, he handles all the runcans, the protections.
- 2:43Speaker 5: You know, obviously in the past game there's a lot
- 2:46Speaker 5: that goes into it on a given play, and I
- 2:49Speaker 5: think that he's done a nice job of controlling that
- 2:53Speaker 5: and keeping that stuff pretty clean from you know, man's
- 2:56Speaker 5: own cans and protections and fit sing them and doing
- 3:00Speaker 5: some of those things. So I just think it's more
- 3:03Speaker 5: comfortable doing it, and we're able to attack people a
- 3:07Speaker 5: little bit differently than maybe we were early on with
- 3:10Speaker 5: some of the depth of targets and stuff.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Clearly, Trevor Lawrence looks more comfortable in this system. John,
- 3:17Speaker 1: I know you were here in that playoff run in
- 3:19Speaker 1: twenty twenty two when Trevor kind of got really hot
- 3:21Speaker 1: towards the end of the season. But now the way
- 3:22Speaker 1: he's been playing these last few games, you feel like,
- 3:24Speaker 1: this is what we can expect from him going forward.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Oh, he's better now than he was in twenty two.
- 3:29Speaker 3: He was hot in twenty two, but there are also
- 3:31Speaker 3: a lot of mistakes mixed in in twenty two.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Look new normal.
- 3:37Speaker 3: You're not gonna have nine touchdowns in three weeks with
- 3:40Speaker 3: no interceptions in the high, high level that he's played at.
- 3:44Speaker 4: But I do think new normal. If you take the
- 3:47Speaker 4: last four weeks and you add in.
- 3:49Speaker 3: The end of the Arizona game were big plays at
- 3:51Speaker 3: big moments, I think you're gonna have more of the
- 3:56Speaker 3: last four weeks then you have anything else with him.
- 4:00Speaker 3: You're not gonna win every game. There's gonna be mistakes.
- 4:02Speaker 3: But if you're asking, do I think they have a
- 4:05Speaker 3: quarterback that they can go all the way with?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yes, the Arizona game, you know, after the third interception,
- 4:11Speaker 2: it wasn't that the light went on, it was that
- 4:13Speaker 2: the elevator started going up and this quarterback rose, he
- 4:17Speaker 2: lifted himself. I think I saw the look in his eye.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I have said that several times. Maybe he did, maybe
- 4:22Speaker 2: he didn't have that look, but there was something that
- 4:24Speaker 2: changed in him and he has gone guy to a
- 4:27Speaker 2: completely different level. I mean, is he in that elite
- 4:30Speaker 2: Patrick Mahomes Josh Allen level.
- 4:33Speaker 1: No.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I don't think he's there yet, but the way he's
- 4:34Speaker 2: playing suggests he can get there. And that's what John's
- 4:37Speaker 2: talking about. He's playing consistently, he is playing with a
- 4:41Speaker 2: level of confidence. There's a brilliance. The way that he
- 4:45Speaker 2: threw the ball on Sunday against the Jets that bespeaks
- 4:50Speaker 2: It talks about what he's capable of being. And for
- 4:54Speaker 2: the first time since he was drafted, we are seeing
- 4:57Speaker 2: the guy who the Jaguars believe they were picking from Clemson.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Hopefully the elevator continues to rise. It's definitely been fun
- 5:04Speaker 1: to watch so far this season. Our find A big
- 5:06Speaker 1: thing today is going to be mirror image. I'm gonna
- 5:08Speaker 1: talk a little bit about well tomorrow we'll talk fully
- 5:10Speaker 1: about the Denver Broncos matchup, but let's get into it now.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I mean, another team that maybe doesn't get as much
- 5:16Speaker 1: respect as they talk about. But Liam Cohen talked about
- 5:18Speaker 1: what he's seen from the Broncos on tape.
- 5:21Speaker 5: That's a good football team. I've been following them and
- 5:24Speaker 5: had a lot of crossover tape with those guys, have
- 5:28Speaker 5: watched them execute at a high level from far and defensively,
- 5:32Speaker 5: you know, do a really nice job. So we know
- 5:35Speaker 5: this is darn good opponent going on the roads. I
- 5:39Speaker 5: think Miles High is a really cool place to play
- 5:41Speaker 5: and compete at. You think about football, you think about
- 5:44Speaker 5: going and playing a game like this.
- 5:46Speaker 6: So.
- 5:48Speaker 5: You know this is gonna be a really good challenge
- 5:50Speaker 5: for us.
- 5:51Speaker 6: As you mentioned, there's.
- 5:52Speaker 5: A lot of similarities right now in some ways, and
- 5:55Speaker 5: you know, being explosive like that quarterback and run. He
- 5:59Speaker 5: can throw it down the field. And their defense has
- 6:02Speaker 5: played at a really high level and it's a good,
- 6:03Speaker 5: solid special teams unit as well. Solowis had a lot
- 6:06Speaker 5: of respect for Sampayton.
- 6:09Speaker 1: It'd be a huge game, Brian. Obviously, another team maybe
- 6:11Speaker 1: doesn't get as much play as they should, don't with
- 6:13Speaker 1: now they want eleven games in a row and are
- 6:16Speaker 1: clearly one of, if not the best team in the league.
- 6:18Speaker 6: Yeah, they're getting it now. And I've spent some time
- 6:20Speaker 6: looking at the numbers.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Whether we're talking about the quarterbacks, or the running game
- 6:23Speaker 2: or the defense. Here's where it really separates John. The
- 6:28Speaker 2: Denver Broncos defense, the front four, the pass rush gets home.
- 6:31Speaker 2: They have fifty nine sacks on the season. The Jaguars
- 6:34Speaker 2: have had a lot of pressure, but not as many sacks.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Where it flips is you know, the Denver Broncos only
- 6:39Speaker 2: have twelve takeaways and the Jaguars have twenty six. So
- 6:42Speaker 2: the passing defense number is better for the Broncos than
- 6:45Speaker 2: it is for the Jaguars because while the Broncos have
- 6:47Speaker 2: shut the ball down, the Jaguars have taken it away.
- 6:51Speaker 6: This is an awesome game. Denver is one of my.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Favorite places to watch a football game because the tradition there,
- 6:58Speaker 2: because the fans there, whether they are right before Christmas.
- 7:02Speaker 6: Although it's gonna be pretty nice.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I love everything about this game, and I think that
- 7:06Speaker 2: the Jaguars matchup well with these guys, and I'm expecting
- 7:09Speaker 2: a hell of a football game.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Yeah. The Broncos defense is really good. They rush the
- 7:13Speaker 4: passer really well.
- 7:15Speaker 3: They emphasize rushing the passer really well, which leaves some
- 7:18Speaker 3: things open for not getting takeaways. If they don't get home,
- 7:22Speaker 3: you can beat them.
- 7:24Speaker 6: And the jet.
- 7:26Speaker 3: You know, sometimes around this team, even observers talk about
- 7:31Speaker 3: great things other teams do and forget the Jaguars have
- 7:35Speaker 3: scored twenty five or more points in what the six
- 7:37Speaker 3: seven games in a row. Seven that's the best in
- 7:40Speaker 3: franchise history. It's the best in the league right now.
- 7:43Speaker 3: If it was just offense, you'd be concerned. But the
- 7:45Speaker 3: defense has gotten so much better. The front is pressuring,
- 7:48Speaker 3: the takeaways. This is a balanced Jaguars team that's won
- 7:52Speaker 3: five in a row. Yes, they're a couple of point underdogs,
- 7:57Speaker 3: they don't feel like underdogs going out there. This is
- 7:59Speaker 3: the start kapeks Ago and they played a big game
- 8:01Speaker 3: against the Colts, won up by twenty.
- 8:03Speaker 4: People get used to this team is good and other
- 8:07Speaker 4: teams need to beat the Jaguars.
- 8:09Speaker 2: There's gonna come down to the fourth quarter. I mean,
- 8:11Speaker 2: just look at the Broncos games. Kay, if you go
- 8:13Speaker 2: back and look at the list. I mean they have
- 8:15Speaker 2: to go to overtime to beat the Washington Commanders, who
- 8:19Speaker 2: were playing without Jayden Daniels who was out with an injury.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I mean, these guys don't run away from anybody. They
- 8:25Speaker 2: stand and they fight, which is what the Jaguars do
- 8:27Speaker 2: and John I went all the way back to the nineties.
- 8:29Speaker 2: There's never been a stretch like this where the Jaguars
- 8:31Speaker 2: have scored points like they're scoring, averaging thirty two point
- 8:35Speaker 2: eight points per game. They're a legitimate threat. The people
- 8:38Speaker 2: in Denver better be ready.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Meaningful games in December. This is certainly going to be
- 8:42Speaker 1: one of them. Say with a sera on Jagsam, we'll
- 8:44Speaker 1: do a little dis or that after the break. Jag
- 8:53Speaker 1: Dam brought to you by Field at Group, key Field's
- 8:55Speaker 1: First Jacksonville' premier luxury auto group. Head over to fields
- 8:58Speaker 1: Auto dot com.
- 9:02Speaker 6: Jag Jamm We're.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Gonna play a little this or that. We're gonna do
- 9:06Speaker 1: this or that. And as Tony Biselli likes to say,
- 9:09Speaker 1: the next game is always the biggest game in franchise history.
- 9:12Speaker 1: We jest a little bit, but how massive is this
- 9:15Speaker 1: matchup in the season. I'm gonna say it's definitely the
- 9:17Speaker 1: biggest game this season.
- 9:18Speaker 6: Well, I mean, without a doubt.
- 9:19Speaker 2: And if you're sitting as one of the network executives
- 9:21Speaker 2: this week, I mean you're thrilled to have a game
- 9:23Speaker 2: the Sunday before Christmas with a twelve and two number
- 9:26Speaker 2: one seed, but not locked it up yet against a
- 9:29Speaker 2: ten and four upstar Jacksonville team with a hot quarterback.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I mean, the quarterback is always the sexiest position. I
- 9:35Speaker 2: think it's a great matchup. I think Denver is an
- 9:38Speaker 2: awesome place, as I just said, to watch a professional
- 9:41Speaker 2: football game.
- 9:42Speaker 6: It's not gonna be cold.
- 9:43Speaker 2: But a week before Christmas. I mean, this is this
- 9:46Speaker 2: is huge because if the Jaguars win this ball game
- 9:48Speaker 2: on Sunday, they are in prime position to be able
- 9:53Speaker 2: to play for the number one overall seed. I don't
- 9:56Speaker 2: know that you can say that they've got it, but
- 9:59Speaker 2: they'll be in a spot to play for the number
- 10:01Speaker 2: one seed if they went on Sunday.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Yeah, some would say senior writer is the sexiest position.
- 10:05Speaker 6: But only if the ja so only senior writer says that.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Well, this is big. I don't know how else to
- 10:13Speaker 4: do it except sort of by numbers.
- 10:16Speaker 3: The Jeras haven't played in a game with both teams
- 10:19Speaker 3: six games over five hundred since they lost in Tennessee
- 10:22Speaker 3: in ninety nine. That's twenty six years. Yeah, they're back
- 10:26Speaker 3: in this world of playing big games. What's cool is
- 10:31Speaker 3: it's a little bit of a it's a little bit
- 10:32Speaker 3: of a high wire act. You're chasing the Broncos. You
- 10:36Speaker 3: got a chance to catch them. It can be glory
- 10:39Speaker 3: if you win, and if you lose, you might be
- 10:41Speaker 3: like in the fifth or sixth seed. So I've had
- 10:44Speaker 3: some people right in saying, wow, this is nerve wracking zone. Yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 3: I get used to it, but this one, this is
- 10:52Speaker 3: the high wire act of the NFL.
- 10:53Speaker 4: You win, you get it all. Yeah, you lose, you
- 10:56Speaker 4: go back.
- 10:56Speaker 3: But it's it's not a situation. If you lose it,
- 11:00Speaker 3: any thing's over, but all of a sudden you need it.
- 11:03Speaker 3: If you don't get it, you're feeling awful.
- 11:05Speaker 4: This is the fun part.
- 11:06Speaker 2: If you don't win this week, because the Texans are
- 11:08Speaker 2: gonna win. They're playing the Raiders, right, So.
- 11:11Speaker 6: Then you're in a in a tie, but you're down
- 11:14Speaker 6: a tiebreaker.
- 11:15Speaker 2: So now the next week you're hoping that you go
- 11:17Speaker 2: in and beat the Colts, which is not a gimme
- 11:19Speaker 2: by any stretch of the imagination, despite their quarterback issues.
- 11:22Speaker 2: And you're hoping that the Chargers beat the Texans. And
- 11:25Speaker 2: you know, now you're starting to need a little bit
- 11:27Speaker 2: of help in that thing, which is why I say,
- 11:29Speaker 2: when this.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Week, you gotta keep the hammer down.
- 11:32Speaker 6: Yeah, you really do it.
- 11:33Speaker 2: And by the way, when you talk about it being nervous,
- 11:35Speaker 2: I was speaking engagement this morning and people were saying
- 11:37Speaker 2: the exact same thing.
- 11:38Speaker 6: But isn't that what you want?
- 11:40Speaker 1: You want to care at the subway, You want to
- 11:41Speaker 1: be invested.
- 11:42Speaker 2: When you don't feel those nervous that's that's because your
- 11:45Speaker 2: team stinks and you're out of it and you're talking
- 11:47Speaker 2: about the draft.
- 11:48Speaker 3: When you start getting nerves like that and you spend Saturday,
- 11:53Speaker 3: you know, worried, and you're going out and you're talking
- 11:56Speaker 3: about it and you wake up nervous, that's when the
- 12:01Speaker 3: fans and the team are connected. That's what you've been
- 12:03Speaker 3: waiting for for That's what you've been missing. And around
- 12:07Speaker 3: here it's been easy to forget that that's what it
- 12:10Speaker 3: is because you haven't had enough success.
- 12:12Speaker 4: This is this is the fun stuff.
- 12:13Speaker 2: This might be the marquee game of the regular season
- 12:17Speaker 2: for sure, right, I mean for all teams, not just Jaguars.
- 12:19Speaker 2: I mean the NFL regular season two hundred and fifty
- 12:22Speaker 2: eight games. I think you can point go this is
- 12:24Speaker 2: the game at this point of the season. They didn't
- 12:27Speaker 2: plan it to be that way, but it came out
- 12:28Speaker 2: that way.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I think what's cool is both these teams are playing
- 12:30Speaker 1: so well right now. Obviously the Broncos eleven game win Street,
- 12:33Speaker 1: They're on a whole other level. But the Jaguars feel
- 12:35Speaker 1: like they're finally playing their best version of football for
- 12:37Speaker 1: this team, Like they are like I feel like so
- 12:39Speaker 1: long we were like, oh, they're winning, but they're kind
- 12:40Speaker 1: of like piecing it together now. It feels like the
- 12:42Speaker 1: offense is really on point and the defense has been
- 12:44Speaker 1: playing well for the past month plus and it feels good.
- 12:48Speaker 1: It feels like you're seeing the best version of each team.
- 12:50Speaker 1: It doesn't feel like one is deflatd.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Well And what timing.
- 12:53Speaker 3: You've got Trevor Lawrence, who was the commercial guy as
- 12:57Speaker 3: a rookie right like, he was a number one overall
- 12:59Speaker 3: pick and everybody outside jackson many people in Jacksonville had
- 13:05Speaker 3: written him off even a month ago when the team
- 13:07Speaker 3: was winning. Oh they're winning despite Trevor Lawrence. Well, guess what,
- 13:12Speaker 3: he goes out on Sunday and has a big time game.
- 13:15Speaker 3: All of a sudden, he's the commercial guy again, and
- 13:18Speaker 3: he doesn't need the commercials because but you know what
- 13:21Speaker 3: I'm saying, all of a sudden That adds a different
- 13:24Speaker 3: dynamic of this game. If the Jaggars were just hot,
- 13:26Speaker 3: it would be one thing. They're hot with a kid
- 13:28Speaker 3: who might be turning into a big time quarterback. This
- 13:32Speaker 3: is an interesting game for storylines, the biggest one being
- 13:36Speaker 3: just go win, no matter what happens with the quarterback.
- 13:39Speaker 2: You know, and if you go back and look at
- 13:40Speaker 2: recent history, last ten years of drafting quarterbacks, I mean,
- 13:43Speaker 2: it's a lawnding list of guys.
- 13:44Speaker 6: That didn't make it.
- 13:45Speaker 2: So for the investment and the patient to have him
- 13:48Speaker 2: at this point is incredibly exciting because the future not
- 13:52Speaker 2: just Sunday, the future this season, next season, and beyond.
- 13:56Speaker 6: Man, it gets really exciting when you have a hot quarterback.
- 13:59Speaker 3: And the cool thing on that topic is, look, we've
- 14:02Speaker 3: seen Trevor really the last four weeks. I don't think
- 14:04Speaker 3: anybody on this couch doubts you can win with this
- 14:08Speaker 3: and it's just ascending.
- 14:09Speaker 4: It's just getting better.
- 14:10Speaker 3: So I don't want to paint the picture of if
- 14:12Speaker 3: they don't win, all of a sudden, Trevor's not the guy.
- 14:14Speaker 3: It's not that, it's just this is a chance for
- 14:17Speaker 3: the nation to see what he has already been doing,
- 14:22Speaker 3: and in a sense it's sort of, yes, there's pressure,
- 14:26Speaker 3: but it's sort of a just go play game because there's.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Really it's not like you're out of the playoffs. If
- 14:30Speaker 4: you lose, it's huge. Let it rip, Let it rip,
- 14:32Speaker 4: r letter rip.
- 14:34Speaker 1: All right, let's talk a little bit about what the
- 14:36Speaker 1: implications will be if they don't win, because, as we mentioned,
- 14:38Speaker 1: the team gets has already gotten to ten wins the
- 14:41Speaker 1: first time we've seen sink twenty seventeen, twice, twenty seven, right,
- 14:45Speaker 1: and this is the age old question. Division winners should
- 14:48Speaker 1: always get a home game? Or should it be the
- 14:50Speaker 1: better record? Where do we feel about this?
- 14:52Speaker 3: Always should get a home game because they're like your division.
- 15:01Speaker 3: You've got to get something from in a division, agreed.
- 15:04Speaker 3: If you don't have that as the carrot, then eliminate
- 15:08Speaker 3: the divisions and just go NBA, or go the old
- 15:12Speaker 3: baseball where you used to be American League and you
- 15:14Speaker 3: get in.
- 15:15Speaker 4: I'm an old school guy too.
- 15:18Speaker 3: If the Jaguars get you know, shafted this year, there
- 15:23Speaker 3: will be arguments the other way over time.
- 15:27Speaker 4: You should always get a reward for winning the division.
- 15:30Speaker 2: It also bills the rivalry and you see how the
- 15:32Speaker 2: league stacks the end of the year with all of
- 15:35Speaker 2: these division games. I mean, how would there be a
- 15:37Speaker 2: rivalry between Jacksonville, Florida and Houston, Jacksonville, Florida and Indianapolis
- 15:42Speaker 2: if you didn't have the division right in Nashville. Maybe
- 15:46Speaker 2: a little bit more regionality in that case, If you
- 15:48Speaker 2: really want to have this emotion at the end of
- 15:51Speaker 2: the season and watching a division rival, then you've got
- 15:55Speaker 2: to have the division and the division title mean something.
- 15:58Speaker 6: So I'm with John, it's got to matter.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Plus philosophically, any argument in the NFL at the end
- 16:05Speaker 3: of the season is always washed away.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Why but should have won anyway?
- 16:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, and back in then you know, there's
- 16:12Speaker 3: always that when a team rests their starters and another
- 16:16Speaker 3: team is playing to get in and they're watching and
- 16:19Speaker 3: the team the rest of the starters, you know, loses
- 16:22Speaker 3: and it costs this other team. Oh, you didn't win
- 16:26Speaker 3: your games. So it's the same way here. You can
- 16:29Speaker 3: win on the road in the playoffs. So if you don't,
- 16:31Speaker 3: you know, some of the best teams have won on
- 16:33Speaker 3: the road in the playoffs. If you don't, if you
- 16:36Speaker 3: wanted the home game win, should have win more?
- 16:39Speaker 6: Well, we've seen it.
- 16:40Speaker 2: We saw it in twenty have a team in Pittsburgh.
- 16:43Speaker 2: They went and beat the Steelers. The Steelers thought they
- 16:45Speaker 2: were going to play the Patriots the next week. There
- 16:47Speaker 2: was even commentary in their locker room about that winning
- 16:50Speaker 2: on the road in the playoffs is not as difficult
- 16:52Speaker 2: as it seems.
- 16:53Speaker 6: Go play well.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Riding on this game. We're going to talk about it
- 16:56Speaker 1: tomorrow as well, and I'm just excited to see them
- 16:59Speaker 1: actually play. But anyway, let's talk a little bit about
- 17:01Speaker 1: what's going on in the league. After the break, we'll
- 17:02Speaker 1: go over what's going on around the NFL. For twelve years, Dreamfinders'
- 17:12Speaker 1: Homes have been proud to call themselves the official homebuilder
- 17:14Speaker 1: of the Jacksonville Daguards. Visit dreamfinders' Homes dot com for
- 17:17Speaker 1: all of the available inventory and go Jags. Welcome back
- 17:22Speaker 1: into jags An. Let's talk a little bit about what's
- 17:24Speaker 1: going on around the NFL, because we're getting to that
- 17:26Speaker 1: point of the season where it's important we keep an
- 17:28Speaker 1: eye on some of the other things going on, because
- 17:30Speaker 1: why not. My most most compelling story I saw this
- 17:33Speaker 1: week was obviously Philip Rivers coming back after five years
- 17:37Speaker 1: of not playing NFL football and starting a football game
- 17:39Speaker 1: for the Colts on the road and almost got to
- 17:41Speaker 1: win there.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Impressive.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Yeah, not listen, it was impressive to a degree. But
- 17:46Speaker 2: I mean, listen how many times you see him fall
- 17:48Speaker 2: down and shot putting the ball? I said last week
- 17:52Speaker 2: Philip Rivers is one of my favorite quarterbacks. I mean,
- 17:54Speaker 2: I just love the guy. When he was playing for
- 17:56Speaker 2: the Chargers, I just I was not impressed with his athleticism.
- 18:06Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, he almost won it, but he didn't.
- 18:11Speaker 6: All right, he Lets put it this way.
- 18:13Speaker 2: He completed eighteen passes for one hundred and twenty yards.
- 18:16Speaker 2: You can run for more than four point four per
- 18:18Speaker 2: carry with with Jonathan Taylor.
- 18:22Speaker 4: It was a game effort. You do wonder.
- 18:27Speaker 3: How long he'll do it if they lose a couple
- 18:32Speaker 3: You know, I got af through my games in the
- 18:34Speaker 3: end regular season.
- 18:35Speaker 4: If they fall out of it, do you bother doing
- 18:37Speaker 4: it in the finale? Uh? You know?
- 18:41Speaker 6: But well, I expect to see him when we're there
- 18:43Speaker 6: this Sunday after Christmas.
- 18:45Speaker 4: But if if you're eliminated from the playoffs, which if
- 18:47Speaker 4: if they lose, you could be do they do that?
- 18:51Speaker 4: You know?
- 18:51Speaker 2: If it's if the Jags win and the Niners beat
- 18:54Speaker 2: the Colts on Monday Night Football, then.
- 18:57Speaker 4: The Jags they're still in it.
- 18:59Speaker 1: They can't win the division.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Well, the Jags will clinch a playoff spot if they
- 19:03Speaker 2: win in Denver and the Colts or Titans lose.
- 19:07Speaker 6: But does that eliminate the Colts.
- 19:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I think just from the Colts are Texans. Texans, Yeah,
- 19:13Speaker 4: the Colts will be do. I don't know if they
- 19:14Speaker 4: eliminate the Colts because they're still their wild card.
- 19:16Speaker 1: They can't win the division at that point, but they
- 19:18Speaker 1: could still win a wild.
- 19:18Speaker 6: Because that's the fun part of a lot of them.
- 19:20Speaker 6: They're trying to figure out how it works.
- 19:21Speaker 2: But I expect to see Philip Rivers, and I hope
- 19:24Speaker 2: that the Jaguars see Philip Rivers because he's just God,
- 19:28Speaker 2: love you, Philip if you see this. I mean, he's
- 19:30Speaker 2: just a tremendous I love him. But he's forty four,
- 19:33Speaker 2: he's been out of the game for five years. The
- 19:35Speaker 2: Niners should take personal affront that he thinks.
- 19:37Speaker 6: He can beat them.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Pooh pooh. It's ages and I love it.
- 19:40Speaker 4: It's drama.
- 19:40Speaker 1: It's gonna be a great movie.
- 19:43Speaker 6: It was not a good football game. I watched it.
- 19:45Speaker 1: This is just the beginning of the comeback story, not
- 19:47Speaker 1: against but hopefully elsewhere.
- 19:49Speaker 6: Pallmark's not buying the rights.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Texans are keeping pace. Let's say they won their sixth
- 19:54Speaker 1: game in a row and Ryan' not slowing down any time,
- 19:57Speaker 1: saying no.
- 19:58Speaker 2: And listen, here's the scary part. And we all know
- 20:01Speaker 2: about their defense. But their quarterback is playing well. He
- 20:04Speaker 2: has rebounded from the three games he missed with the concussion.
- 20:06Speaker 2: He really doesn't have a running game at all. I mean,
- 20:09Speaker 2: Woody Marks is injured. Nick Chubb didn't play last week,
- 20:12Speaker 2: and yet he finds a way to make a play
- 20:16Speaker 2: And this may be the one.
- 20:18Speaker 6: Now that's the running game. There was a throw he
- 20:20Speaker 6: made the.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Other night against Kansas City where I didn't think he
- 20:24Speaker 2: had any prayer of getting the ball off before he
- 20:26Speaker 2: was run out of bounds, and he threw a strike
- 20:28Speaker 2: for a first down on third down and twelve. If
- 20:30Speaker 2: their quarterback is playing well with that defense, wow, this
- 20:35Speaker 2: is going to be a formidable team.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Yeah, they're dangerous. I mean AFC's health is good this
- 20:40Speaker 3: year until Daniel Jones got hurt. Oh yeah, you felt
- 20:44Speaker 3: like it was going to be three eleven or twelve
- 20:47Speaker 3: win teams.
- 20:49Speaker 4: You know, it's.
- 20:52Speaker 3: It feels I get that the Jerrys had a chance
- 20:54Speaker 3: to close them out and they squandered that opportunity. But
- 20:58Speaker 3: it doesn't feel wrong to me that these two teams
- 21:02Speaker 3: are in a one game chase and going after it.
- 21:04Speaker 4: They feel like two really good teams.
- 21:06Speaker 1: And then let's talk a little bit about the team
- 21:07Speaker 1: we're gonna be facing this week. The Broncos had a
- 21:09Speaker 1: big matchup against the Packers this week. They came out
- 21:11Speaker 1: on top as mentioned, eleventh win in a row, and
- 21:15Speaker 1: they did suffer an injury of their safety, brand Jones
- 21:17Speaker 1: gonna be placed on IR He has a peck injury,
- 21:19Speaker 1: so he'll be out the rest of the season. That
- 21:21Speaker 1: defense in Denver is tremendous, but as mentioned, non ton
- 21:24Speaker 1: of takeaways. So if you can get after the secondary
- 21:28Speaker 1: a little bit, that's great for the Jicks.
- 21:29Speaker 6: That certainly hurts them. And you know, they lost JK. Dobbins,
- 21:32Speaker 6: their top running back a couple of weeks ago and RJ.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Harvey, who the kid from UCF has Bruce Ribs, So
- 21:38Speaker 2: I mean they've got some significant depletions.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Something to watch for sure. I think they think he'll
- 21:44Speaker 1: be able to go, but at at what percentage?
- 21:46Speaker 4: Right? Look, they're a clutch, one score game team that's
- 21:51Speaker 4: come back this year probably ten times. I think the
- 21:53Speaker 4: statu is they thrive on it.
- 21:56Speaker 3: They believe that they're going to win big games. That
- 22:00Speaker 3: makes them a very tough team to beat at home
- 22:03Speaker 3: when you have a good defense to go with it.
- 22:05Speaker 3: It also means that a good team playing well.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Which the Jaguars are, can get them. So this should
- 22:13Speaker 4: be a great game.
- 22:16Speaker 3: I think the Jaguars are going to believe that they
- 22:19Speaker 3: can punch this team in the mouth, because the Jaguars
- 22:22Speaker 3: believe they can punch all teams.
- 22:23Speaker 4: In the mouth. Yeah, I think that's the kind of
- 22:24Speaker 4: game is.
- 22:25Speaker 6: Going to be. Bonex, by the way, just isn't the side.
- 22:27Speaker 2: He's not as big and doesn't have the arm strength
- 22:29Speaker 2: of Brett fav But the way that he runs and
- 22:31Speaker 2: then throws the ball back across his body without any
- 22:35Speaker 2: thought about where that ball is going right the throw
- 22:38Speaker 2: that we just saw right over there, He is dangerous
- 22:41Speaker 2: because the play is never dead, which you see their
- 22:44Speaker 2: receivers Courtland, Sutton and Franklin. They all play that style
- 22:49Speaker 2: and we having to mention that Evan Ingram is out
- 22:51Speaker 2: there and he's made some big plays for them this year.
- 22:53Speaker 2: That's another storyline to this thing.
- 22:55Speaker 4: I'm gonna harp on this all week. Lebroncos play close
- 22:58Speaker 4: games and they're a good clutch team. Jaguars are getting
- 23:01Speaker 4: close games too. They haven't had to play them the
- 23:03Speaker 4: last couple weeks. They've won it overtime. They've beaten a
- 23:07Speaker 4: big time team and the Chiefs. That way, the Jaguars
- 23:12Speaker 4: are as good as the Broncos. Let's see if they can.
- 23:14Speaker 6: Go beat them.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Let's see. Stay with us.
- 23:16Speaker 1: We're gonna tell you what's coming up the rest of
- 23:17Speaker 1: the week. Jags fans, if you want customiz Jaguars furniture
- 23:23Speaker 1: for your home, check out zipchaar dot com to rouse
- 23:25Speaker 1: all the customizable options. Zip Chair is furniture for fans.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Welcome back in. We are gonna talk a ton tomorrow.
- 23:33Speaker 1: But looking forward to this matchup with the Broncos. I mean,
- 23:36Speaker 1: I feel like when the schedule came out, I was
- 23:38Speaker 1: looking at it. I was like, that's gonna be a
- 23:39Speaker 1: really cool game. It'll be a tough environment, but I
- 23:42Speaker 1: don't know where the team's gonna be at at that
- 23:44Speaker 1: point in the season, for sure, But at this point
- 23:46Speaker 1: you don't really feel like, yes, it's a tough environment.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I don't feel like they can't go there and get
- 23:51Speaker 1: a win, though, which is a great place to be.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Not sure right now, there's a place I would feel
- 23:55Speaker 3: that way. What this team lost to three good teams
- 23:58Speaker 3: this year when the quarterback was not playing at the
- 24:02Speaker 3: level that it's playing. So I don't know how the
- 24:06Speaker 3: game is going to go, but I don't feel like
- 24:10Speaker 3: there's any reason they can't go there, play well and
- 24:13Speaker 3: win well.
- 24:13Speaker 6: And they're also healthy. You can't overlook that.
- 24:15Speaker 2: The last time this team lost, they were in Houston
- 24:18Speaker 2: where they blew the nineteen point lead. But they didn't
- 24:20Speaker 2: have Brenton Strange, they didn't have Eric Murray, they didn't
- 24:23Speaker 2: have Jordan Lewis.
- 24:24Speaker 6: They were down some key players.
- 24:25Speaker 2: And you've got to think that had those players been there,
- 24:28Speaker 2: the Jaguars could have gotten a first down or prevented
- 24:31Speaker 2: a first down, and that would have ended the game
- 24:33Speaker 2: and the Jaguars would have won. So you're going to
- 24:35Speaker 2: denver the injury to Basil Twoton aside. You're going at
- 24:40Speaker 2: almost full strength, which gives you a great opportunity at
- 24:43Speaker 2: a quarterback playing at a high level.
- 24:45Speaker 6: Hey, buckle up, Bronx, here we come.
- 24:47Speaker 4: And I have no idea what Liam's messages the team
- 24:49Speaker 4: will be. My guess is it'll have some sort of
- 24:52Speaker 4: element of hey, guys, let's go play. Yeah, yeah, let's
- 24:54Speaker 4: go see, let's go show.
- 24:56Speaker 6: He has no fear, none whatsoever.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Down in distance doesn't bother him, timeline, the play clock
- 25:02Speaker 2: doesn't bother him. Nothing bothers him. He plays and coaches
- 25:07Speaker 2: without fear, and his team has adopted that mentality.
- 25:10Speaker 6: There's no fear in this thing. Let's go play ball,
- 25:13Speaker 6: Let's do it.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Who you guys talking to this week?
- 25:15Speaker 2: I'm talking to Spencer Whipple, the quarterbacks coach, and why
- 25:18Speaker 2: not the quarterback he's playing.
- 25:19Speaker 6: It looks like he's a completely different guy.
- 25:21Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 25:22Speaker 3: I'm hoping to talk to Cole Atlanta because I haven't
- 25:25Speaker 3: talked to him yet and I've wanted to talk to
- 25:27Speaker 3: him for the last five weeks.
- 25:30Speaker 4: And just see how you do what he's doing. Everyone's favorite.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Pick your Spotlneman, We love it all right, Joins. Tomorrow,
- 25:36Speaker 1: we're gonna talk even more Broncos Jags as we get
- 25:38Speaker 1: ready for the Sunday's backup enjoy the day,
