- 0:53Speaker 4: No, that would just be made. Does he shoot it
- 0:55Speaker 4: right into his chest? Is it a bruin with the
- 0:58Speaker 4: game on the line? You know, we just put that season. Yes,
- 1:03Speaker 4: I know, And I thought that they should have had
- 1:05Speaker 4: about twelve goals.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Last night and mars Son had a bunny.
- 1:07Speaker 4: But that's my little deal.
- 1:08Speaker 5: That's my little fifteen second Ruins point Potswa, Potswa.
- 1:13Speaker 1: There's only one four oh five game, and that is
- 1:16Speaker 1: our Patriots to Tampa. That's a four twenty five. Oh sorry, Yeah,
- 1:20Speaker 1: so we're gonna go to four twenty five.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Defend Mike. I'm not positive, but I believe this was
- 1:25Speaker 4: the first game that was flexed.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Okay, I think I'm okay.
- 1:29Speaker 4: I didn't I didn't take it too hard.
- 1:31Speaker 6: This is Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 1:33Speaker 7: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
- 1:37Speaker 7: dot com.
- 1:39Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:44Speaker 1: at Gillette Stadium, and we'll be here for the next
- 1:46Speaker 1: two hours. It's deuced Tamara, Paul, myself, Matt nabooth Evan
- 1:50Speaker 1: will be back after coaches availability.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Is grilling Bill O'Brien right now, trying to find.
- 1:55Speaker 1: It again and then again after practice.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Right second week in a row. They're practicing on Tuesday.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of weird. They did that. Last week.
- 2:05Speaker 1: They decided instead of coming in Monday, he gave the
- 2:08Speaker 1: players Monday off and then they practiced through the week.
- 2:12Speaker 1: But this week I think they were here I don't
- 2:15Speaker 1: know what's going on, but they're practicing and there's actually
- 2:18Speaker 1: availability today unlike all other Tuesdays.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it makes a little bit.
- 2:24Speaker 5: I can really see it make a little bit of
- 2:26Speaker 5: sense that you guys got back what like five am
- 2:28Speaker 5: or whatever it was on good point Monday mornings. So
- 2:31Speaker 5: I get it this week a little bit more than
- 2:33Speaker 5: last week. But it's productive. They have been yesterday doing anything, tired,
- 2:38Speaker 5: naps and such so, but it is two weeks in
- 2:41Speaker 5: a row that they're going to have four days of practice.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Whether what walk throughs are in there or whatever, we
- 2:46Speaker 4: don't know. But I don't know. It's just interesting. I
- 2:48Speaker 4: don't know if it's going to make a difference. But
- 2:50Speaker 4: Monday part, you know, Mike is exactly right, you know,
- 2:54Speaker 4: but they don't normally do any on field work on
- 2:56Speaker 4: a Monday.
- 2:57Speaker 1: No, they conditioned guys lifting.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Yeah, they might come in and get some treatment and whatnot.
- 3:04Speaker 4: And I don't know that there maybe that they had
- 3:07Speaker 4: to just say that's a complete day.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Off, but they might they might have like film.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I was gonna say, fred Is.
- 3:13Speaker 5: I thought that the Monday was usually the day that
- 3:15Speaker 5: they put the last game behind them, they go through
- 3:17Speaker 5: the film, they yell at the guys that need to
- 3:18Speaker 5: be yelled at, they compliment the guys that you know,
- 3:20Speaker 5: and they move on.
- 3:21Speaker 4: But they don't do that on every Monday. Maybe there's
- 3:25Speaker 4: a lot of victory Mondays. No, unfortunately, maybe they may
- 3:28Speaker 4: not this year.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Maybe they're like, we're not talking about games, we lose anything. Yeah,
- 3:32Speaker 1: I know they don't have film.
- 3:33Speaker 4: They just they did the ball burying back in Vegas.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what's going on.
- 3:38Speaker 4: The Tuesday practice thing, to me is different. That's the
- 3:40Speaker 4: that's the different element. I've seen them come in on Mondays.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I've seen them get Mondays off. I've never seen them
- 3:44Speaker 4: practice on Tuesday. And this is two weeks in a
- 3:47Speaker 4: row and they're not just practicing. You guys have access
- 3:48Speaker 4: to the locker room. Yeah, yeah, at one Tuesdays, which
- 3:51Speaker 4: is a very.
- 3:52Speaker 8: But but it's do you think this is like part
- 3:55Speaker 8: of the starting over? Was this the starting over process?
- 3:58Speaker 5: No, this was just to change the schedule for but
- 4:01Speaker 5: but I mean it's going to be short though, because
- 4:03Speaker 5: Evan's gonna go out the I think practice is at
- 4:05Speaker 5: twelve thirty and then locker rooms at one forty five. So,
- 4:07Speaker 5: I mean it's it's like an hour, you know, so
- 4:09Speaker 5: it might be like a yeah, it might just be
- 4:11Speaker 5: a walk through or something. Maybe it's more of interesting
- 4:14Speaker 5: no less though, Yeah, and when it's different, it's interesting
- 4:16Speaker 5: to me.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I always wonder why. Yeah, I never have any answers.
- 4:20Speaker 4: I think this will be a wonderful day for your
- 4:22Speaker 4: What was the mood? Was it walk through?
- 4:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we'll have to really get into that.
- 4:28Speaker 4: My guess is there walk through these Tuesday things? But
- 4:30Speaker 4: I don't, you know, I I just mind it different.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Do you do stretching for walk throughs?
- 4:36Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, maybe the walking is stretched.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I don't walk in.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I don't stretch to walk anyway. You got to walk
- 4:44Speaker 1: before you can run. And certainly the Patriots can run
- 4:47Speaker 1: in a walkin out of the walk through very literally.
- 4:50Speaker 9: They might be still at the crawling stage.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Yeah, and I would need to stretch before it's a stretch.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Twenty one seventeen loss. I predicted the Patriots would score
- 4:59Speaker 1: eighteen a half points, and when they did the freak
- 5:02Speaker 1: kick pooch.
- 5:03Speaker 5: You thought something happen at that point, right, Do we.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Ever get to the bottom of that play. No.
- 5:09Speaker 1: No, But here's the thing, all right, if you if
- 5:14Speaker 1: you're what they were doing was hoping for a muff
- 5:17Speaker 1: because you can fair catch that pooch, right, but they
- 5:20Speaker 1: were hoping for a muff. You can't roll it like
- 5:23Speaker 1: an on side No, because it's a punt. You just
- 5:26Speaker 1: let it die. It's a free kick, so you can't
- 5:30Speaker 1: just like stay away from it if you're the other
- 5:32Speaker 1: team and let it.
- 5:34Speaker 4: No, you just stand around him and say it's.
- 5:37Speaker 1: The same as a kickoff.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Correct. I don't know. We were trying to figure it out.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Can on side kick a free kick? You can't. You're
- 5:47Speaker 4: allowed to do that? Okay, now I don't and I didn't.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Did you just coming from the coaches? Did you so,
- 5:55Speaker 4: ca'm a did you bother? No?
- 5:57Speaker 3: I did not. I was talking to Pelagreno for a
- 6:01Speaker 3: little bit and then a.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Little crush on and I think it's I think it's neutral. Boy,
- 6:07Speaker 4: I don't put we all in.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I don't think it, you know, But to be fair,
- 6:13Speaker 3: like I I I don't think I'm speaking out of
- 6:15Speaker 3: turn and saying that. I think it's mutual. Like I
- 6:17Speaker 3: think me and him have a friend and friends.
- 6:20Speaker 4: I would say if I were, I would feel the
- 6:22Speaker 4: same way Evans.
- 6:23Speaker 3: He's definitely on Josh Allen, don't do this yis week
- 6:28Speaker 3: h He's just he's got a good sense of humor.
- 6:31Speaker 5: He walked through the locker room last week when you know,
- 6:33Speaker 5: they had a veil last week, and I was like, oh,
- 6:34Speaker 5: I sorry, we didn't get to come talk to you,
- 6:36Speaker 5: you know, and he gets so.
- 6:37Speaker 4: You know, we have a little Oh look at that
- 6:39Speaker 4: you guys. Are you okay with that?
- 6:42Speaker 3: No?
- 6:43Speaker 4: I think he was there Evan Dan jumped in on.
- 6:46Speaker 4: He's like, don't talk to me, he's mine. So we
- 6:48Speaker 4: were just talking about the free kick. Yeah, why not
- 6:52Speaker 4: give yourself a shot? What was that?
- 6:54Speaker 3: The free kick?
- 6:55Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:55Speaker 3: I don't really like, how can they like on side
- 6:58Speaker 3: kick it?
- 6:59Speaker 4: Yeah they can't. And I just don't understand what they
- 7:01Speaker 4: were hoping to get with that.
- 7:02Speaker 3: It looked to me like they were like pooch kicking it,
- 7:06Speaker 3: hoping that it was like.
- 7:07Speaker 4: It was muff. It was a bad kick. Yeah, okay, Yeah,
- 7:12Speaker 4: I guess this Bill had something in mind because I listen,
- 7:15Speaker 4: I watched this guy for twenty whatever years. Yeah, and
- 7:17Speaker 4: he's got something for every situation, right, So my guess
- 7:20Speaker 4: is what happened wasn't what he wanted to happen.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so.
- 7:24Speaker 4: He wasn't looking for a muff. He was looking to
- 7:26Speaker 4: recover it on side kick somehow. And I think Evan
- 7:28Speaker 4: might be right. I think maybe he was hoping he
- 7:30Speaker 4: kicked it like sort of in a hole in the
- 7:34Speaker 4: return team, kicking it directly too.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:39Speaker 4: It might be the worst guy in the league to
- 7:41Speaker 4: kick it too, Yeah, because he probably has the best
- 7:43Speaker 4: hands of anybody in football.
- 7:44Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 7:44Speaker 3: That that, I think is what they were trying to do,
- 7:46Speaker 3: was kick it over like that first layer and in
- 7:50Speaker 3: front of like the deep guys and then kick it
- 7:52Speaker 3: in that no man's land and then hope.
- 7:56Speaker 1: It looked like he was doing what he kicked it right, right,
- 7:59Speaker 1: I thought he was just hoping for him it was
- 8:01Speaker 1: a sixteen yard sixteen yard kick, then, I don't it
- 8:04Speaker 1: can't be on purpose.
- 8:05Speaker 4: I don't think Renfro I mean had to had to
- 8:08Speaker 4: move more than a yard to catch if that.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I have to admit at that point of the game,
- 8:13Speaker 3: I was checked out. I was packing my things up
- 8:16Speaker 3: to go down after.
- 8:19Speaker 4: I get it. There's probably not It's probably not the
- 8:21Speaker 4: best jumping off point that we could have on sorry,
- 8:24Speaker 4: you know, in the a three game losing streak. But
- 8:27Speaker 4: I just I felt like, okay, you take the safety.
- 8:30Speaker 4: I was with you, We all were, we all declined,
- 8:32Speaker 4: you know, the game's over, but I'm like, well you can.
- 8:35Speaker 4: They still have to recover the on site kick, and
- 8:38Speaker 4: then we didn't try one, Like I just didn't understand it,
- 8:40Speaker 4: Like I was, I was kind of miffed.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I didn't know the rule. I thought on a free
- 8:45Speaker 1: kick you could fair catch it. If it's in the air,
- 8:47Speaker 1: you can't, I mean not, I mean if it rolls
- 8:51Speaker 1: like a punt, you can just like let it roll in.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I thought that was it was.
- 8:55Speaker 3: A live ball.
- 8:56Speaker 4: It's a live ball to the rules. Yeah, and they
- 9:00Speaker 4: could have used a t like they didn't have to
- 9:02Speaker 4: punt it, right. I just don't know exactly what they
- 9:07Speaker 4: were trying to do. Evan's probably right. They were looking
- 9:09Speaker 4: for something in between the levels of the.
- 9:12Speaker 5: Practice, like maybe practice practice, like a sixteen yard sky
- 9:17Speaker 5: high punt.
- 9:17Speaker 3: You know, I didn't get a chance to ask a
- 9:20Speaker 3: core today.
- 9:21Speaker 4: But it actually got to see me snof that.
- 9:24Speaker 3: But I'll ask Bearinger for you and see, you know
- 9:27Speaker 3: what what his his take is on it tomorrow there you.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Go, Okay, yeah, maybe in the locker room too, yeah.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Or today Yeah, I forgot that all right, weird Tuesday.
- 9:38Speaker 1: The A corp doesn't fall far from the tea.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Oh my god?
- 9:42Speaker 9: How long were you holding on to that one?
- 9:43Speaker 4: Probably about five minutes? Just came to me.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Yeah, so that that's the way the game.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Ended anything though, Yeah, he's talking to Mike Pellegrino.
- 9:55Speaker 3: I talked to Bill O'Brien. I went into Bill O'Brien
- 9:58Speaker 3: at the end, but I just I don't really understand
- 10:04Speaker 3: like the line of questioning that that was was asked
- 10:07Speaker 3: of him, Like people like asking him like how are
- 10:10Speaker 3: you doing? But like how are you coping with all
- 10:13Speaker 3: of this?
- 10:13Speaker 1: It's like, oh, well, they're trying to get you know.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Who cares.
- 10:17Speaker 1: They're trying to see how much he will go from
- 10:22Speaker 1: being divorced from the proceedings. Like it's not my fault.
- 10:26Speaker 1: That's what they're looking for. That's what I'm you know,
- 10:30Speaker 1: you know, I don't know that's what there was wasting
- 10:32Speaker 1: my time.
- 10:33Speaker 3: But regardless, I just talking to him. I thought it
- 10:38Speaker 3: was interesting, was his his points about the two minute
- 10:42Speaker 3: offense and like the end of the game. And you
- 10:44Speaker 3: know he pretty much both coaches that I spoke to
- 10:47Speaker 3: owned a lot of the mistakes and said, we gotta
- 10:50Speaker 3: we got to coach it better. Like when it comes
- 10:51Speaker 3: to penalties, you know, delay of games holdings like we
- 10:55Speaker 3: saw in that last drive. He wore it and said
- 10:57Speaker 3: that that's I have to coach it better.
- 10:59Speaker 1: But that's the thing. You arn't the game with two
- 11:01Speaker 1: penalties that kill the drive and you end the game
- 11:04Speaker 1: going backwards bookends. I mean, it's those were the little things,
- 11:11Speaker 1: you know, I during the game, like I said it
- 11:13Speaker 1: to you, or I might have said it to No
- 11:15Speaker 1: Socks who was there. You're down by two with two
- 11:18Speaker 1: minutes left. That was an automatic win in the day,
- 11:21Speaker 1: automatic win, and in the NFL it's almost an automatic win.
- 11:25Speaker 1: And we go backwards. Now, that's what's that's what's the
- 11:29Speaker 1: glaring thing about this team is in those moments that separate,
- 11:34Speaker 1: you know, the good teams from the bad teams. We're
- 11:38Speaker 1: we're not executing, we're doing the opposite.
- 11:40Speaker 5: And even when they're getting close like Max past the
- 11:43Speaker 5: Parker or the long Ezekiel Elliott run, still a penalty.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Mistakes.
- 11:48Speaker 5: You know, those things just seem to pop up and
- 11:50Speaker 5: prevent the team from having those moments that you know,
- 11:52Speaker 5: I think everybody played sports like you know those wow,
- 11:55Speaker 5: great play like you get some confidence, you know, you
- 11:57Speaker 5: got a little juice going. Finally, It's just it seems
- 11:59Speaker 5: so hard for them to find that and build any
- 12:01Speaker 5: momentum right now because as soon as they make a play.
- 12:04Speaker 1: So you look at you know, David Andrews is a veteran,
- 12:07Speaker 1: but you look at that veteran leadership on the field
- 12:11Speaker 1: added with the coaching, and it's it's lacking right now.
- 12:15Speaker 1: It's lacking.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I just don't think that they have game changers, like
- 12:18Speaker 3: I I agree with you that, like the leadership could be.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Game changing, maybe making. To me, I'm separate. I'm not
- 12:24Speaker 1: even going to making plays right now. I'm talking about
- 12:27Speaker 1: just negative stuff, avoiding the negative stuff.
- 12:30Speaker 3: I just don't have good enough play.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Play making stuff is is a different conversation. They don't
- 12:34Speaker 1: have that either. But I'm just talking about just not
- 12:37Speaker 1: killing yourself.
- 12:38Speaker 3: I think they kill themselves because they're not good. Like
- 12:41Speaker 3: you know, Mac Jones, like the pick that he threw
- 12:43Speaker 3: to Hunter Henry, It's a makeable throw in the league.
- 12:46Speaker 3: He's not good enough to make the throw. Like, I
- 12:48Speaker 3: don't think that that's like because he's down on himself
- 12:51Speaker 3: or because he doesn't have confidence. I just think that
- 12:53Speaker 3: he physically can't make a cross body on the run
- 12:56Speaker 3: throw back into the middle of the field. You know,
- 12:58Speaker 3: you watch the game on.
- 12:59Speaker 1: It even that cross much crossbossile.
- 13:02Speaker 3: It was a little bit because he was wide why
- 13:04Speaker 3: don't Yeah, I mean, like, I think that throw is
- 13:06Speaker 3: harder to make than people are making it out to be.
- 13:09Speaker 3: But at the same time, like they you know, there's
- 13:12Speaker 3: a lot of quarterbacks in the league that that make
- 13:14Speaker 3: that throw.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Josh Allen won a game with it.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Like like my maybe my memory is uh killing me here,
- 13:23Speaker 1: but it seemed to me he had enough time to
- 13:25Speaker 1: actually stop, set and throw.
- 13:27Speaker 4: I don't think that then the guy's no longer going
- 13:29Speaker 4: to be wide open.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Watching it watching it again, I thought that initially live
- 13:35Speaker 3: as well, But watching it again, I I think it's
- 13:38Speaker 3: Tyree Wilson who's closing in on him, and like if
- 13:41Speaker 3: he tries to set his feet, he's gonna.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Get okay, laid out, all right. I just thought it
- 13:46Speaker 1: was It wasn't like the two in Dallas that it
- 13:49Speaker 1: wasn't even close.
- 13:50Speaker 4: No, it was this was a bad throw. This was
- 13:53Speaker 4: just a bad.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Throw, Like those were bad decisions, right, And.
- 13:56Speaker 3: I also think it was a bad decision.
- 13:58Speaker 4: I kind of do too. This was much more on
- 14:00Speaker 4: the throw.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Then, why do I actually think it was I think
- 14:03Speaker 3: it was worse decision than it was a throw. We
- 14:05Speaker 3: disagree on this why for two reasons. One, I thought
- 14:08Speaker 3: he left the clean pocket. He stepped up on Crosby,
- 14:12Speaker 3: and if you look, it's it's host juke actually is
- 14:15Speaker 3: the play, and like Zeke is running the juke route
- 14:18Speaker 3: out of empty and all he's got to do is
- 14:21Speaker 3: like step up in the pocket and stay with the play,
- 14:23Speaker 3: like stay on the read and stay with the play.
- 14:26Speaker 3: He was already off of the three receiver side by
- 14:28Speaker 3: the time he hit the top of his drop, so
- 14:30Speaker 3: he sped up right. He's just canceling out reads before
- 14:33Speaker 3: he even gives the play a chance to develop. And
- 14:35Speaker 3: then he steps up in the pocket, a clean pocket
- 14:38Speaker 3: other than Max Crosby, putting a little pressure on the edge.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Just step up and make the throw. Then he leaves
- 14:43Speaker 3: the pocket and he tries to be Josh Allen, and
- 14:46Speaker 3: it's like you you can't. You can't do it. It's
- 14:49Speaker 3: not who you are.
- 14:50Speaker 4: You can't play because that throw is not a hard throw.
- 14:53Speaker 4: I didn't think it was like if you're gonna take
- 14:56Speaker 4: all the decision making about leaving the pocket, I agree
- 14:59Speaker 4: with that, But on that like, I didn't think he
- 15:00Speaker 4: had to tucktail and go as quickly as he did.
- 15:04Speaker 4: That that part of the decision I would agree with Evan.
- 15:06Speaker 4: The decision to see a guy who's fifteen yards over
- 15:10Speaker 4: there with no one on him and throw it to him,
- 15:13Speaker 4: I don't think that was that bad of a decision.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I didn't think you've got to make the throw, right, I agree.
- 15:17Speaker 4: I just think he didn't have to jam it in.
- 15:19Speaker 5: And you know, you know to me that the throwback
- 15:22Speaker 5: across is dangerous because there's usually too much congestion there
- 15:27Speaker 5: and there wasn't any on this play well.
- 15:29Speaker 1: And also people can tell it you're telegram, you know,
- 15:31Speaker 1: people can like Dak Prescott.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Dak Prescott probably won the game last night with a
- 15:37Speaker 4: throw off a scramble to Pollard that looked extremely dangerous
- 15:43Speaker 4: when you're watching TV. But then if you're there and
- 15:46Speaker 4: you and you had seen it, and you realize there
- 15:48Speaker 4: was nobody near Pollard. There was no chance that that
- 15:51Speaker 4: pass is getting picked off unless you throw it over
- 15:54Speaker 4: his head the way that mac Jones did, and then
- 15:57Speaker 4: there's somebody there that that's waiting to pick it off.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Like if someone cut underneath and picked it off, I
- 16:02Speaker 4: would say decision right.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Not I just I think that it as mac Jones.
- 16:07Speaker 3: And if you want to say that he can't play
- 16:10Speaker 3: because of that, then I'm not going to argue with you.
- 16:12Speaker 3: But if you're mac Jones, it's second and five, you're
- 16:15Speaker 3: in scoring territory. It's second and five. Just throw the
- 16:18Speaker 3: ball away and play third and five. Like the worst
- 16:21Speaker 3: case scenario is that you don't get it on second
- 16:24Speaker 3: and five, you don't get it on thirty five a
- 16:26Speaker 3: third and five, and you're kicking a forty five yard
- 16:28Speaker 3: field goal. Like that's the absolute worst case, totally fair,
- 16:31Speaker 3: the best, totally well, the worst case scenario is throwing
- 16:33Speaker 3: an interception, which is what he did.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I mean, and there were a lot of plays in
- 16:36Speaker 1: the game that you can point to, but to me,
- 16:38Speaker 1: that was the game right there. If he makes that play,
- 16:42Speaker 1: you know, Henry has some space to even pick up
- 16:44Speaker 1: more yards, and but that that was it. That was
- 16:49Speaker 1: the play that kind of.
- 16:50Speaker 4: But this is why I agree with Evans's larger point,
- 16:52Speaker 4: like that's players.
- 16:54Speaker 1: No, I know, like I know, you don't.
- 16:56Speaker 4: Make enough of those plays because I don't think you
- 16:59Speaker 4: have players that are good enough to consistently make those plays.
- 17:03Speaker 1: But like I said, they started the game negatively, they
- 17:06Speaker 1: ended the game negatively, And tell the truth, be honest,
- 17:09Speaker 1: be honest, be honest.
- 17:10Speaker 4: I always did you think when they took over at
- 17:12Speaker 4: their own nine or whatever it was, they were going
- 17:14Speaker 4: to go down and kick a field goal to win?
- 17:15Speaker 1: I thought they had a shot.
- 17:16Speaker 4: I didn't say that. I said, did you think they
- 17:18Speaker 4: were going too?
- 17:20Speaker 1: They were going to have I thought there was a
- 17:22Speaker 1: fifty I didn't think they were going to go backwards,
- 17:24Speaker 1: let's put it that way.
- 17:24Speaker 4: No, okay, Mike, did you think they were going because
- 17:27Speaker 4: they were?
- 17:28Speaker 1: We were all here and we did.
- 17:30Speaker 4: We kind of didn't. I didn't sense a lot of
- 17:32Speaker 4: confidence to marry you were with us? Yeah, party is
- 17:36Speaker 4: a little.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Negative with a negative name, Bob, Yeah, they didn't.
- 17:40Speaker 4: I didn't say it worked.
- 17:41Speaker 8: No, I just think we haven't seen enough to see
- 17:43Speaker 8: this team be able to come back and win in
- 17:46Speaker 8: that way.
- 17:46Speaker 5: I just.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Feel I always there's gotta be the game that's gonna happen, happen,
- 17:54Speaker 1: and maybe not maybe not pride for that even though
- 17:57Speaker 1: they didn't have any you know, timeouts, they only needed three,
- 18:01Speaker 1: you know, and yes they started on the nine, but
- 18:04Speaker 1: you know, I thought the way Bourne was playing, and
- 18:07Speaker 1: you know.
- 18:07Speaker 4: See that's the thing to me is what really surprised
- 18:11Speaker 4: me was that the shot that they play they should
- 18:14Speaker 4: have gotten. Yeah, because I would have thought just the
- 18:17Speaker 4: way that this started a little check down to Remandre
- 18:20Speaker 4: for five or six and Bourne caught seventeen four yard passes.
- 18:24Speaker 4: I mean he had one that he broke and he
- 18:26Speaker 4: got like forty yards on, but all the rest of
- 18:27Speaker 4: them were like six yard passes. I would have figured
- 18:30Speaker 4: that's what they're gonna do and maybe they'll get there,
- 18:32Speaker 4: maybe they won't. You know, they're being field goal range.
- 18:36Speaker 4: But then all of a sudden, he throws. I I mean,
- 18:39Speaker 4: you've probably charted the all twenty two of every pass
- 18:42Speaker 4: that macis Throne is a Patriot and I'm not exaggerating, right.
- 18:45Speaker 3: And every training camp pass he's ever carven as a Patriot.
- 18:47Speaker 4: I personally think that's the best throw he's ever made.
- 18:50Speaker 4: As a patriot. Oh, I don't think that. I don't
- 18:53Speaker 4: think you can make I don't think you can make
- 18:54Speaker 4: them more perfect. It was on his head, given the
- 18:56Speaker 4: circumstances he's in. He's like in the shadow of his
- 19:00Speaker 4: goal line. He wasn't wide wide open. He was open,
- 19:04Speaker 4: nfl open, But it wasn't like, Oh, anybody can make that.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Throw, and they that was perfect and from their nine
- 19:10Speaker 1: they needed a chunk play and they needed one play
- 19:13Speaker 1: to pick up a bunch of yards and that was
- 19:16Speaker 1: right there.
- 19:16Speaker 4: So as critical as I am of Mac, I have
- 19:19Speaker 4: to sit there and say, oh my god, that throw
- 19:21Speaker 4: was absolutely perfect.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Absolutely, it was definitely.
- 19:24Speaker 5: I think it's play the thing with Mac and it's like,
- 19:27Speaker 5: you know, we come out and you point to a
- 19:28Speaker 5: couple of plays that he almost made and that, well,
- 19:31Speaker 5: it shows he can play in this league and that
- 19:32Speaker 5: maybe there's something there.
- 19:33Speaker 4: But it's just it never either hits or it's never consistent.
- 19:36Speaker 4: There's never a top five anyway.
- 19:37Speaker 3: I would think. So, I mean, I don't know. Some
- 19:39Speaker 3: of the throws that I like are more like into
- 19:42Speaker 3: the middle of the field with like anticipation and driving
- 19:45Speaker 3: it into windows.
- 19:46Speaker 4: Exanded. The Born touchdown rookie year against Cleveland. You know,
- 19:51Speaker 4: I was thinking too of some Hunter Henry. Maybe it
- 19:53Speaker 4: was against the Browns. I think there was a Hunter
- 19:55Speaker 4: Henry out to me.
- 19:58Speaker 1: To me, the moment made it such a good throw
- 20:00Speaker 1: because the other team knows we can't give up a
- 20:02Speaker 1: big play. We've got to make him work for every yard.
- 20:05Speaker 1: They don't have any timeouts. We can't let him give
- 20:07Speaker 1: it chunk play. And it was right there, right on
- 20:10Speaker 1: his hands. You know, you can't blame Mac for that one.
- 20:14Speaker 3: You can blame him for the rest of the game.
- 20:15Speaker 4: I can blame him for the Taekwon Thornton one.
- 20:17Speaker 10: I just.
- 20:20Speaker 5: Did you think he had thorn on that one shot
- 20:22Speaker 5: he took to him even for a second, like was
- 20:24Speaker 5: there was that just it was.
- 20:26Speaker 4: Just I don't know what it was.
- 20:29Speaker 1: It was it was five yards at of bounce.
- 20:32Speaker 4: I don't even know. It was just Taekwon.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Taekwon's down there somewhere covered like like.
- 20:37Speaker 1: And then there was another one where you know Thornton
- 20:39Speaker 1: early he was going to the outside of the numbers
- 20:42Speaker 1: and you know Mac hit him, you know, with a
- 20:45Speaker 1: pass was a three yard pass, but Thornton had to
- 20:48Speaker 1: dive to catch it. You know, like if he catches
- 20:51Speaker 1: it on the run, maybe he could turn it up,
- 20:53Speaker 1: but he had I said it was a thirty yard
- 20:55Speaker 1: effort for a three yard game.
- 20:57Speaker 4: You know, do you remember's a lot of actually six
- 21:00Speaker 4: but six. During training camp when we were up on
- 21:04Speaker 4: the the red level watching training camp practices, Evan used
- 21:09Speaker 4: to talk about how hard it can be, how restricting
- 21:13Speaker 4: it can be for the offensive coordinator to have to
- 21:16Speaker 4: scheme around problems with your tackles. And I thought this
- 21:20Speaker 4: was the biggest example of the scheme was totally reliant
- 21:27Speaker 4: on them knowing that they weren't going to be able
- 21:29Speaker 4: to hold the ball. Like everything was a three yard pass.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Every every pass in this game. I think they may
- 21:35Speaker 4: they maybe threw the ball downfield five times ten. It
- 21:38Speaker 4: couldn't have been tentily. Maybe five sounds like like the
- 21:42Speaker 4: deep battle throwton that went out of bounds in the dark.
- 21:45Speaker 4: But this, to me was an example of I know
- 21:49Speaker 4: that we're not going to be able to hold up.
- 21:51Speaker 4: And to Evan's point earlier about he's sped up, he's
- 21:54Speaker 4: already sped up. So we know the quarterback is sped up.
- 21:57Speaker 4: We know he's probably got a reason to be sped up.
- 22:00Speaker 4: We're just gonna get it out lightning quick all day
- 22:02Speaker 4: and that's what that's what happens. Like you don't, it's
- 22:04Speaker 4: really hard to move the ball that way.
- 22:06Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's crazy to me because they really we
- 22:08Speaker 5: talked all last week. They have Crosby, like it wasn't
- 22:10Speaker 5: like Buffalo coming up this week where they have a
- 22:12Speaker 5: few different guys that are problems. Like if they shut
- 22:14Speaker 5: her down just to deal with Crosby, Like, what's it
- 22:17Speaker 5: gonna look like?
- 22:18Speaker 4: Like the game winning safety?
- 22:19Speaker 5: They had him with two different guys and they clips
- 22:23Speaker 5: so many times?
- 22:25Speaker 3: Can you just like Vermandra Stevenson is literally checked down
- 22:29Speaker 3: five yards in front of you, man, and he's got
- 22:32Speaker 3: a ton of grass like he's got like and I
- 22:35Speaker 3: trust for Montre to break a tackle more than like
- 22:38Speaker 3: anybody on this team besides maybe Born. And he's got
- 22:41Speaker 3: like one guy in between him and the first down marker.
- 22:44Speaker 3: And at the very least you got a fourth down chance, exactly,
- 22:47Speaker 3: at the very least you get the ball out to
- 22:49Speaker 3: go for it on fourth down, and I just his
- 22:54Speaker 3: eyes are down the field. He's trying to wait and
- 22:56Speaker 3: see if something opens up down the field for him.
- 22:59Speaker 3: To throw it and and the pocket starts collapsing. But
- 23:01Speaker 3: if you actually watch it, he like kind of goes
- 23:04Speaker 3: like almost like a little pump fake because he sees
- 23:06Speaker 3: Remandre out of the corner of his eye like last second,
- 23:09Speaker 3: and he he thinks about it, and then all of
- 23:11Speaker 3: a sudden, Crosby's on top of him and he's down.
- 23:14Speaker 3: But I just watching this this film, like I hate
- 23:17Speaker 3: to say it, but you know, I'm embracing the tank.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Like just just embrace the tank and you know, get
- 23:25Speaker 3: a new quarterback. Like if you want to talk about
- 23:28Speaker 3: like the the pressure in this game was not that
- 23:31Speaker 3: big of an issue. It really wasn't there. He was
- 23:34Speaker 3: under pressure twenty nine percent of the time, which is
- 23:37Speaker 3: their lowest pressure rate of the entire season. They ran
- 23:39Speaker 3: the ball pretty well as well. Kendrick Bourne made some plays,
- 23:44Speaker 3: you know, like the BRDA Parker was an absolute dime.
- 23:47Speaker 3: There's no question.
- 23:48Speaker 1: About that game. Prescott's I know the score wasn't anywhere
- 23:51Speaker 1: near the last two weeks. But Bill said in the
- 23:54Speaker 1: instance when this wasn't anything like you know, last week,
- 23:57Speaker 1: or do you think he was just talking about the
- 24:00Speaker 1: score where there were there are other things the score
- 24:03Speaker 1: because I.
- 24:03Speaker 5: Think it was a lot like the last couple, but
- 24:05Speaker 5: I mean the two Like I wanted to ask you
- 24:07Speaker 5: this is like how much do you chuck up that.
- 24:08Speaker 4: Of just being the Raiders not a great defense, like
- 24:10Speaker 4: suddenly the Patriots defense. That's a big part.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Of it, you know, you know, the Raiders are not
- 24:15Speaker 3: a great defense, which I think exacerbates why I feel
- 24:19Speaker 3: so strongly about it. I guess I just there's functional
- 24:23Speaker 3: he's he's broken, like he's he's functionally broken. And maybe
- 24:29Speaker 3: there's a world where you can acquire weapons in the
- 24:32Speaker 3: offseason and you know, hire Ben Johnson and like piece
- 24:36Speaker 3: him back to I don't know, but to what end,
- 24:38Speaker 3: I think is a is an interesting question as we
- 24:41Speaker 3: move forward here, he's locking onto to reads, he's sped up,
- 24:45Speaker 3: he's leaving pockets that he doesn't need to leave, Like
- 24:48Speaker 3: it's just he's a broken quarterback. Like all these things
- 24:51Speaker 3: are things that happen when it just starts to just
- 24:54Speaker 3: unravel on a guy. And I just there's guys open
- 24:58Speaker 3: on this film that he's missing. You know, he throws
- 25:01Speaker 3: to time Montgomery should have been yeah, and GAZICKI is
- 25:05Speaker 3: just in cut wide open, you know, just he was open.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Move the read like that that's not open, Like, go
- 25:11Speaker 3: to the next read in the progression and you're gonna
- 25:13Speaker 3: see if you hit Gaziki and stride there, he might score.
- 25:16Speaker 4: The pass got picked off, and I know my favorite
- 25:19Speaker 4: you know if my aunt had you know, watch my uncle.
- 25:21Speaker 4: But if that pass got picked off, that may have
- 25:23Speaker 4: been it it.
- 25:25Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, well that's again like I brought the point
- 25:29Speaker 5: up like so many people were setting this up to
- 25:30Speaker 5: be like Max last stand and like it's not.
- 25:32Speaker 4: Even close to it. We'll get to that the second hour.
- 25:35Speaker 4: I also have a rant in the second hour.
- 25:37Speaker 3: That he also he locked into to Henry on one too,
- 25:40Speaker 3: on like a little return route on third down where
- 25:43Speaker 3: even if Henry catches it, he's still like five yards
- 25:46Speaker 3: short of the sticks. And Romo like I think highlighted
- 25:48Speaker 3: on that Bourne was like had the in cut and
- 25:51Speaker 3: Romo like said that he was like double covered or
- 25:53Speaker 3: something not double covered.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Like yeah, I know he talking about in TV coverage
- 25:59Speaker 4: and that I don't know if this is because they're all
- 26:01Speaker 4: ex quarterbacks for the most part, but Aikman does it
- 26:03Speaker 4: a lot. Romo does it a lot, like yeah, you
- 26:05Speaker 4: see him here there, you know, there's no way, there's
- 26:07Speaker 4: no way to go with the ball, and I'm like,
- 26:08Speaker 4: I don't know. He kind of looks like.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I'm glad you got because you know, I could only
- 26:13Speaker 1: see the TV. I couldn't hear it, and I saw
- 26:15Speaker 1: him circle born. So I wrote, oh, Romo was saying
- 26:18Speaker 1: that Bourne was open, and everyone's like, no, no, he
- 26:21Speaker 1: just said he was double covering, and I'm like, what,
- 26:23Speaker 1: That's not what I saw.
- 26:24Speaker 3: It's there's a there's a post stage. It's like man
- 26:27Speaker 3: cover one post safety in the middle of the field
- 26:30Speaker 3: and the guy the safety is like fifteen yards off
- 26:32Speaker 3: the line of scrimmage and Bourne's just crossing at like
- 26:35Speaker 3: eight yards if you just move on from from Hunter Henry,
- 26:39Speaker 3: who's clearly covered on the play and well short of
- 26:41Speaker 3: the sticks, Like Bourne's just sitting there, wide open in
- 26:44Speaker 3: the middle of the field. It just he's not seeing it.
- 26:47Speaker 3: And at that point, like if he's not going to
- 26:49Speaker 3: make those Hunter Henry, you know, scrambled drill mode plays
- 26:52Speaker 3: that we were just talking about, and he's not seeing
- 26:54Speaker 3: the field well and not handling pressure well, Like I
- 26:58Speaker 3: just I don't really know where it is.
- 26:59Speaker 8: I know, I'm sorry, go ahead, No, I was just
- 27:02Speaker 8: gonna say, I feel like with him obviously a different
- 27:04Speaker 8: situation with what happened with Trey Lance, but I think
- 27:06Speaker 8: he's gonna need the fresh start, Like I feel like
- 27:08Speaker 8: there's no even if you give him the weapons somehow
- 27:11Speaker 8: this offseason.
- 27:11Speaker 1: I mean in another place.
- 27:12Speaker 9: Yeah, man, I don't think.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Maybe sitting on the bench somewhere for a while, but too.
- 27:17Speaker 1: But you know, I know you probably did the good
- 27:19Speaker 1: in the bad. I think there was some goods. I mean,
- 27:21Speaker 1: Born I think was a good. We had Born on
- 27:23Speaker 1: the I think I think Pepper's was a good.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Yep, he made them both lists, but yeah, he was
- 27:28Speaker 4: on the good list.
- 27:29Speaker 1: And I think Jennings was okay.
- 27:31Speaker 4: I actually had I had Jennings on my good list,
- 27:34Speaker 4: Barmore and bar More.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Yeah, so I think there was some goods from this game.
- 27:39Speaker 4: Yeah, they were all very minors, I know, but I'm
- 27:41Speaker 4: looking for anything.
- 27:43Speaker 9: But also, Fred, it's like it's the Raiders, so like,
- 27:46Speaker 9: how good is it? Really?
- 27:47Speaker 4: Well, That's what I'm saying, Like, like we're calling it
- 27:49Speaker 4: good when you run for eighty yards like that, and
- 27:52Speaker 4: I did. We did, Like that's what Mike and I
- 27:55Speaker 4: that was one of our things there was a glimmer
- 27:57Speaker 4: of a running game in the third quarter.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel the excitement, like and you know the run.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I know there was a hold, but I think the
- 28:05Speaker 1: Zeke run was a good run, you know that?
- 28:08Speaker 4: Yeah, like that, Yes, it was a good play by Zeke, right,
- 28:14Speaker 4: But it's I'm looking for plays that I can say,
- 28:17Speaker 4: this is what we can get, you know, this is
- 28:19Speaker 4: what we can expect. Like I can't expect Zeke to
- 28:22Speaker 4: make literally half the defense miss, which there was a
- 28:27Speaker 4: great individual effort by Zeke. Do you think you're going
- 28:30Speaker 4: to get a seventy five yard catch and run again?
- 28:33Speaker 1: No, No, it was just you know, good to see it.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Was a good play. But like we're really we're really
- 28:39Speaker 4: ten for forty six and seven for thirty four, Like
- 28:42Speaker 4: they didn't even average five to carry, and we're like
- 28:45Speaker 4: really putting the trumpets out like four point five. You know,
- 28:49Speaker 4: four point four is a team they had eighty three yards.
- 28:53Speaker 8: You know, Mac two just does not have anybody that
- 28:56Speaker 8: he can trust will be there no matter what. Like
- 28:58Speaker 8: I feel like Jacobe was that so in the situation
- 29:01Speaker 8: where the safe play this play with the safety for example,
- 29:04Speaker 8: I feel like if that was Jacoby right there instead
- 29:07Speaker 8: of Remandray, he probably would have done it.
- 29:09Speaker 9: He probably wouldn't have hesitated.
- 29:10Speaker 5: I just wonder what broke Mac looks like with that guy,
- 29:13Speaker 5: because then is it he's just only on that guy,
- 29:15Speaker 5: you know, Like at this point, I wonder if he
- 29:17Speaker 5: would be looking at Jacob like every time to the
- 29:20Speaker 5: to the Born thing fred that you know, Like so
- 29:23Speaker 5: he had ten for eighty nine.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Now thirty six of those came on one play. Yeah
- 29:27Speaker 4: again it was another like he broke like three tackles.
- 29:30Speaker 4: G great play by Kendrick Bourne. So that's nine for
- 29:35Speaker 4: like fifty something. That's like less than six six a catch,
- 29:38Speaker 4: And that's what they were. But what what I do
- 29:40Speaker 4: I little intrigued with Born here though, is like a
- 29:43Speaker 4: lot of quick slants, a lot of get the ball
- 29:45Speaker 4: out quick, a lot of Jakobe Meyer's stuff, right exactly.
- 29:49Speaker 4: Like maybe he's not a traditional slot guy, but you
- 29:52Speaker 4: used him as a slot guy in this game, and
- 29:54Speaker 4: he caught a lot of passes. Now maybe those can
- 29:57Speaker 4: be first downs. Yeah, and you know, you're I don't
- 30:00Speaker 4: know when you live with that, it doesn't that's like
- 30:02Speaker 4: if it's six yards on third and four, that's great play.
- 30:05Speaker 4: It's maddening that this that that game hasn't happened for
- 30:07Speaker 4: Kendrick Bourne sooner.
- 30:08Speaker 5: Because I feel like the fans were like with the
- 30:10Speaker 5: you know, out with the torches, like fe Kendrick.
- 30:12Speaker 4: Bourne, and we kind of laughed about it. Well, I'm
- 30:14Speaker 4: still and like I'm still there. Yeah, for the big pitcher,
- 30:17Speaker 4: Kendrick Bourne, I'm still there. But for this offense, it's
- 30:20Speaker 4: all you got right exactly.
- 30:21Speaker 5: And that's you know, and at what point could they
- 30:23Speaker 5: have gotten him a little bit more involved? And then
- 30:25Speaker 5: you know, it's just the other thing that's just in
- 30:27Speaker 5: my craw right now is just the fact that they
- 30:28Speaker 5: gave three year deals to both Juju Smith Schuster and
- 30:31Speaker 5: DeVante Parker, Like.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Those are the two guys that were building that might
- 30:34Speaker 1: be good.
- 30:34Speaker 4: For my rant.
- 30:35Speaker 8: That's why I was wondering, do you think they were
- 30:37Speaker 8: trying too hard to give Juju the ball the first
- 30:39Speaker 8: couple of weeks instead of I.
- 30:41Speaker 5: Don't know, it was sporadic because they looked at him
- 30:43Speaker 5: and like it wasn't even a game and then but
- 30:45Speaker 5: then first down gotta have a game on the line.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Yeah, then we go to him like.
- 30:49Speaker 5: That's what I don't get and I just those two guys, like,
- 30:52Speaker 5: I just I don't know where that personnel mis evaluation happened,
- 30:55Speaker 5: because I mean I was, you know, to be honest,
- 30:58Speaker 5: you guys know, I was a little bit positive.
- 30:59Speaker 4: I'm on Parker when he first got here. I said, well,
- 31:01Speaker 4: at least he's an NFL outside receiver with some size.
- 31:04Speaker 4: He's got some things that can do.
- 31:06Speaker 5: And he is that he is, but he's slowly descended
- 31:08Speaker 5: to a point now where he's just completely in effect.
- 31:11Speaker 4: But we're trying to treat it like he's more than that.
- 31:13Speaker 5: Yeah, like I know number one guy, like I, I
- 31:15Speaker 5: just like to get back to where he come down
- 31:17Speaker 5: with a couple of contested catches a game, like at least,
- 31:19Speaker 5: but they're not even to that point anymore. And then
- 31:21Speaker 5: the way that things ended with him in the locker
- 31:23Speaker 5: room and what he's say, I'm like, how do we
- 31:25Speaker 5: get out of these two contract?
- 31:27Speaker 4: So Fred I'm gonna pull you, okay, going direct to
- 31:33Speaker 4: Camra looking at you okay. So I get really annoyed
- 31:36Speaker 4: by these things because you know, I tend to look
- 31:39Speaker 4: at things more from a personal side, the emotional part
- 31:43Speaker 4: of the game that you know, I often say like
- 31:46Speaker 4: no spreadsheet for Okay. So you had a guy in
- 31:50Speaker 4: Jacoby Myers who did one of the dumbest things I've
- 31:54Speaker 4: ever seen to cost the team a football team football
- 31:57Speaker 4: game last year in that very stadium, throwing the ball
- 32:00Speaker 4: back across the field. We all know what happened. He
- 32:03Speaker 4: was basically in tears at the end of the game,
- 32:07Speaker 4: talking to every single guy who asked him a question
- 32:10Speaker 4: about it, taking one thousand percent accountability for it. He's
- 32:15Speaker 4: now in Las Vegas, having nothing to do with that play,
- 32:18Speaker 4: in my opinion, but having everything to do with his
- 32:21Speaker 4: audacity to question the coach's decision to yank Mac out
- 32:26Speaker 4: of the Monday night game against Chicago and put in
- 32:28Speaker 4: Zappi and sort of subject Mac to that night, which
- 32:33Speaker 4: we all remember was ugly yep here in Foxborough. Okay. That,
- 32:37Speaker 4: in my opinion, not anybody else's, not an informed opinion.
- 32:41Speaker 4: My opinion is why they chose to move on from
- 32:44Speaker 4: Jacoby Myers, the guy who, when it was his fault
- 32:47Speaker 4: they lost a game, stood as if his life depended
- 32:52Speaker 4: on taking accountability. You chose to extend a guy who
- 32:58Speaker 4: tries to tell you that the ball hit off his
- 33:02Speaker 4: fingertips after by the way next questioning another guy who
- 33:07Speaker 4: asked him what he saw. You chose to extend one
- 33:10Speaker 4: of those guys and let the other one walk. That
- 33:14Speaker 4: really bothers me. Wes Welker. In the Super Bowl a
- 33:17Speaker 4: past that, we've had debates about whether or not it
- 33:21Speaker 4: was Tom Brady's fault or Wes Welker's fault. Wes Welker
- 33:24Speaker 4: doesn't have any debate on it. Wes Welker says it
- 33:26Speaker 4: was Wes Welker's fault. And I've never seen a guy
- 33:29Speaker 4: for forty five minutes postgame and a Super Bowl with
- 33:32Speaker 4: the entire country asking him the question, his eyes as
- 33:36Speaker 4: red as my son's after homecoming. Okay, thank you, Matt,
- 33:43Speaker 4: no one else, no one else.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Last Yeah, I thought it was the other thing.
- 33:47Speaker 4: He was, Okay, crying, crying, he was so upset about
- 33:52Speaker 4: costing his team a super Bowl.
- 33:54Speaker 1: It's a great point.
- 33:55Speaker 4: Where'd he go? See you, Wes? I don't get it.
- 33:58Speaker 1: It's a great point.
- 33:58Speaker 4: I don't get it. That bug me. Why make it sold?
- 34:01Speaker 4: That aboves me?
- 34:02Speaker 5: Like it's you know, like, what is it? I mean
- 34:04Speaker 5: I'm guessing that it's I don't want to be questioned
- 34:07Speaker 5: by these media guys like, what do they know?
- 34:08Speaker 4: Like that that's kind of what comes up. But it's
- 34:10Speaker 4: so easy to say, hit me in the hands.
- 34:11Speaker 10: I got at it.
- 34:12Speaker 4: I had no excuse, Like.
- 34:13Speaker 5: It's the easiest thing in the world. You don't even
- 34:15Speaker 5: have to believe it walk away.
- 34:16Speaker 4: It's the easy. Do you think anybody would sit here
- 34:19Speaker 4: today and say, wow, what Devonte Parker? But no, kidne
- 34:23Speaker 4: it was say hey, you know what, got to have
- 34:28Speaker 4: that ball. But at least he owned up to it.
- 34:29Speaker 1: By the way, even if it was on his fingertips,
- 34:32Speaker 1: which it wasn't, he still should have said he could
- 34:35Speaker 1: have had.
- 34:35Speaker 4: It right right.
- 34:36Speaker 1: You know, you back up your you'd never throw blame else.
- 34:40Speaker 4: I gotta make a play. I kept watching different replays
- 34:43Speaker 4: of it as we were doing the post game Freddy
- 34:45Speaker 4: and I kept looking. I was like, maybe, you know,
- 34:48Speaker 4: maybe one of the defensive backs who's desperately trying to
- 34:51Speaker 4: get back in the play. You know, sometimes they reach
- 34:52Speaker 4: up and the shot of bat, maybe it blocked his
- 34:55Speaker 4: field division he lost sight of the ball. For nope,
- 34:58Speaker 4: it never happened. The ball lands in his hands.
- 35:02Speaker 1: I really didn't get a you know, a second, third,
- 35:05Speaker 1: fourth look until I got on the plane and I
- 35:07Speaker 1: let out an audible gas. I was like, oh, you know,
- 35:10Speaker 1: because that's the first time i'd really got to see it,
- 35:13Speaker 1: you know, in slow motion. Everything absolutely had that ball.
- 35:18Speaker 4: That is as routine a catch for an NFL receiver
- 35:20Speaker 4: as you can get. If you can't make that catch,
- 35:23Speaker 4: you camp.
- 35:23Speaker 5: And that's what he's here for. Like, that's him, Like,
- 35:25Speaker 5: that's he's supposed to be that guy. That's you gave
- 35:27Speaker 5: him a three year contract extension this summer to do
- 35:30Speaker 5: stuff like.
- 35:31Speaker 4: That, and I know they didn't extend him after he
- 35:33Speaker 4: failed to take accountability, but that's.
- 35:35Speaker 5: This is the guy you chose to extend the same
- 35:37Speaker 5: thing with you get your handed that's you know, your
- 35:39Speaker 5: your crown piece of of free agency this year was
- 35:42Speaker 5: at least at least.
- 35:43Speaker 4: Juju is is you know. And again he's taking you right.
- 35:48Speaker 4: He's not telling you my knee hurts. He's telling you
- 35:50Speaker 4: I'm good, I'm good. I'm just got to play better.
- 35:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I'm a little torn on part of
- 35:54Speaker 5: me likes that he is willing to talk about. Also,
- 35:56Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, I kind of like talking to the
- 35:57Speaker 5: cameras that don't like.
- 35:58Speaker 4: The player himself has not done the job and that's
- 36:00Speaker 4: the bottom line. But again, at least he's taking accountability.
- 36:05Speaker 4: Parker like that that was awful?
- 36:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:07Speaker 5: Do you believe people are like saying he should be
- 36:09Speaker 5: cut after that? Like Parker, I mean, that seems it's
- 36:11Speaker 5: intense to me, Like, I don't know if you could
- 36:13Speaker 5: make that move just to cut somebody for not be
- 36:16Speaker 5: the first time that a coaches used to guy to
- 36:18Speaker 5: make an example.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Well, at at very least he owes Mac in apology.
- 36:21Speaker 1: I believe that, first first for dropping it and then
- 36:24Speaker 1: for not Yeah.
- 36:25Speaker 4: He owes in an apology for not saying that he
- 36:27Speaker 4: should have caught the ball. I agree.
- 36:28Speaker 9: I think of that that topic. Do you think that.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Then he could go back to Patricia later?
- 36:33Speaker 8: Do you do you believe the hype around Mac has
- 36:37Speaker 8: lost like players.
- 36:38Speaker 9: Respect in the locker room. I think about that floating around.
- 36:42Speaker 1: I don't know, you know, because of the kicking and vanilla.
- 36:47Speaker 4: I think it's everything.
- 36:48Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's the entire I think the
- 36:50Speaker 1: guys see him working hard and you know, some guy
- 36:53Speaker 1: don't know.
- 36:54Speaker 5: I mean, I I don't know, but I would say
- 36:56Speaker 5: it's like being on any team. I'm sure like there
- 36:58Speaker 5: is what fifty guys on the team, there's certainly going
- 37:02Speaker 5: to be defensive players who are like, this, ain't it.
- 37:04Speaker 4: This, ain't it, This isn't what I think there are
- 37:05Speaker 4: offensive players that here him after what game? Was it?
- 37:08Speaker 4: The was it the Miami game? What he's talking about.
- 37:11Speaker 4: We've got to work harder, you know, we can't have
- 37:13Speaker 4: some of it, some of us. It's got to be
- 37:15Speaker 4: everybody something like that.
- 37:16Speaker 1: But since then, it's always been you know, I just
- 37:19Speaker 1: got to keep positive mental attitude. But that's great, I know.
- 37:22Speaker 4: But to Tamara's point, if there are people in that
- 37:24Speaker 4: locker room that aren't necessarily willing to run through a
- 37:26Speaker 4: wall for him, I understand why.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's getting killed every week and the other
- 37:31Speaker 1: player his teammates see that he's under five.
- 37:34Speaker 5: It's kind of the opposite of Brady Belichick. Now, it's like,
- 37:37Speaker 5: who's who have they stopped playing for?
- 37:39Speaker 4: More?
- 37:39Speaker 5: Like do they You know, it's because this doesn't look
- 37:41Speaker 5: like a team really has a lot of fight right now.
- 37:43Speaker 5: And I think probably some of it is people don't
- 37:46Speaker 5: really believe that Mac is going to lead their team.
- 37:47Speaker 5: And I'm sure that there are probably members of this
- 37:49Speaker 5: team that aren't really buying.
- 37:50Speaker 4: What Bebe's slinging either.
- 37:51Speaker 5: So you know, and now we're trying to divvy up there.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Well, it's deflating. I mean, you know, like you said,
- 37:57Speaker 1: you start the game off the way they did in
- 37:59Speaker 1: the D. Defense is watching that, yep, and.
- 38:02Speaker 4: They're like, here we go.
- 38:03Speaker 1: You know.
- 38:03Speaker 4: Well the defense also started off by letting the other
- 38:05Speaker 4: team have the ball for this, I know, but there's
- 38:10Speaker 4: plenty of blame to go around. The offense is by
- 38:12Speaker 4: far and away the biggest problem, but it's the Spider Man.
- 38:16Speaker 4: I think. I think you're going to get to the
- 38:17Speaker 4: point where the defense is like thank god the offense
- 38:19Speaker 4: is because no one's talking about we can't come up
- 38:22Speaker 4: with a stop. And they did force two punts in
- 38:25Speaker 4: that game. Yeah yeah, one of the first halts out
- 38:27Speaker 4: of there. I mean I think it.
- 38:28Speaker 5: Evan had some stats yesterday on Twitter to kind of
- 38:30Speaker 5: sorry X, to back it up of the lack of
- 38:33Speaker 5: pressure without you on and this.
- 38:34Speaker 4: You know, they can't with four man rush. Where is
- 38:37Speaker 4: get there?
- 38:38Speaker 1: Where is he?
- 38:38Speaker 5: I mean, I mean he is He is on the
- 38:40Speaker 5: injury report, so he is hurt. But you know, I
- 38:42Speaker 5: saw Henry mckennon' tweeted, I'd say that Patriots haven't had
- 38:44Speaker 5: any contract extension discussions with Josh what no kidding?
- 38:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I do think that he is potentially, I mean,
- 38:52Speaker 4: if he's healthy. I mean, I know he left that game.
- 38:55Speaker 4: He was on the injury report, I think with the knee,
- 38:56Speaker 4: and he left that game with a foot. Oh gosh,
- 39:00Speaker 4: Yeah that sounds right. So if I was a good
- 39:04Speaker 4: team that needed some pass rush depth, I'd give you
- 39:09Speaker 4: a sixth or seventh round pick for him.
- 39:10Speaker 5: If you were like the twenty eleven Patriots and you
- 39:12Speaker 5: lost what's his face when he went down in Denver
- 39:15Speaker 5: who came here and had Andre Carter, you know, like
- 39:17Speaker 5: they lost one of their big pass rushers. They had
- 39:19Speaker 5: to put Marty Anderson in as like a you know,
- 39:21Speaker 5: we need some pass rush depth.
- 39:23Speaker 10: We need it.
- 39:23Speaker 4: You know, he doesn't have to be Von.
- 39:25Speaker 5: Miller, but we need a third guy off the edge
- 39:27Speaker 5: on third downs. Bring him in to do what he's
- 39:28Speaker 5: always done.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Mark Anderson had ten sacks when he was here.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Yeah, right, So some some guy will sort of douce
- 39:34Speaker 4: last year.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Yep, But where's he this year?
- 39:37Speaker 5: I mean, and that's I don't I mean, I don't
- 39:40Speaker 5: want to like really rail on josh Uja. But I
- 39:42Speaker 5: just I'm not surprised, Like this isn't who he is.
- 39:44Speaker 5: He's been a third down pass rusher since he was
- 39:46Speaker 5: at Michigan when you're in a favorable down and distance
- 39:49Speaker 5: and it's third and long and he can just run
- 39:51Speaker 5: off the edge, and like he's good.
- 39:53Speaker 4: He's a really athletic guy. He's pretty good chasing people down.
- 39:55Speaker 5: But when it comes with Judon's out and we need
- 39:57Speaker 5: you to play early downs and stop the run and
- 40:00Speaker 5: then get after the quarterback when they're going to try
- 40:01Speaker 5: to pass on early downs, is it's just never been
- 40:03Speaker 5: his game. And I think it's you know, it's this
- 40:06Speaker 5: team has so many issues right now that like re
- 40:09Speaker 5: signing a specialty pass rusher as much as I think,
- 40:12Speaker 5: you know, it's nice to keep guys that you developed,
- 40:13Speaker 5: and I like josh Jay, it's hard to make a case.
- 40:17Speaker 4: For you, right And there was a point for during
- 40:18Speaker 4: the game, and we were talking about this during the
- 40:20Speaker 4: post game show where Romo was actually talking about how
- 40:25Speaker 4: much they were missing Judon during plays while the play
- 40:29Speaker 4: was actually it was not during the replay showing how
- 40:31Speaker 4: much time Garolo had. There was times where there was
- 40:35Speaker 4: one play in the second half where Hoyer could have
- 40:37Speaker 4: like made himself a sandwich he had so much time.
- 40:41Speaker 4: And Romo actually said, this is where the absence of
- 40:44Speaker 4: Judeon really shows up, sure like while the play was
- 40:47Speaker 4: going on.
- 40:48Speaker 1: But you know, one guy shouldn't make that much of
- 40:52Speaker 1: a difference.
- 40:52Speaker 4: No, right, but does. But you're right to what to
- 40:57Speaker 4: ask the question where has and he should be the
- 41:00Speaker 4: guy that's filling that void at least in terms of
- 41:03Speaker 4: putting some pressure on. Yeah, and he's gotten I mean,
- 41:06Speaker 4: I know he only has two sacks, but it's not
- 41:08Speaker 4: like he's been around the quarterback constantly.
- 41:10Speaker 1: I see him. I see him just you know, he
- 41:13Speaker 1: gets contact and he's just locked on the wall. He's
- 41:16Speaker 1: just stonewalls.
- 41:17Speaker 8: I found Evan's tweet with the stats with him without Judon,
- 41:20Speaker 8: with Judon ten sacks without Judon, two sacks, pressure percentage
- 41:25Speaker 8: with Judon thirty seven point three without Judon twenty five
- 41:28Speaker 8: point eight percent.
- 41:29Speaker 4: Yeah, that's big, sounds significant. Yeah, I think part of
- 41:35Speaker 4: that is also they've changed the way they play a
- 41:37Speaker 4: little bit too. You know, I think that they know
- 41:40Speaker 4: they don't have that guy, so but it can't necessarily
- 41:44Speaker 4: rely on.
- 41:44Speaker 5: But again, it's just like one of these issues that like,
- 41:47Speaker 5: you know, like us, we saw it coming, Like we
- 41:50Speaker 5: talked about tackles this offseason constantly. We talked about what
- 41:53Speaker 5: happens if Judoon goes down, They're gonna be in trouble.
- 41:55Speaker 10: You know.
- 41:56Speaker 5: Times if I use the term house of cards, yeah,
- 41:57Speaker 5: I mean it's been a slow motion train wreck where
- 41:59Speaker 5: you just see it coming and you're like, you know, hi,
- 42:01Speaker 5: I know, I'm just you know, Patriots and filter writer guy.
- 42:04Speaker 5: But like to me, you might want to get some
- 42:06Speaker 5: tackles in the building like that have some potential in
- 42:08Speaker 5: her young and you know that you can work in
- 42:10Speaker 5: and it's it's just not surprising when you see these things.
- 42:12Speaker 1: I'll come home, all right, Well.
- 42:14Speaker 3: You want to tackle in the building.
- 42:16Speaker 11: Evan Collins and Nate Solder was out there watching practice.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Evan, I heard that you are directing a new movie
- 42:33Speaker 1: called Broke Mac Mountain.
- 42:37Speaker 5: That's a that's a pf W cover right there.
- 42:42Speaker 8: How long were you sitting righting the show?
- 42:46Speaker 6: Though?
- 42:48Speaker 3: You need to behind the curtain of like how he
- 42:52Speaker 3: comes up with these things. That's at some point.
- 42:54Speaker 4: That's Denver Christmas Eve. That was because you know, it's
- 42:57Speaker 4: kind of a mile high.
- 42:58Speaker 3: I didn't really I didn't really care for that anyways. Uh,
- 43:01Speaker 3: it's a beautiful love story. Patriots practice today on a Tuesday,
- 43:05Speaker 3: so I want to preface that with these not spotted
- 43:09Speaker 3: are not seen there that it's a Tuesday practice, so
- 43:12Speaker 3: it's a little bit expedited to have some of these guys.
- 43:16Speaker 3: So this is our list. Are going to start with
- 43:18Speaker 3: the positives. Jack Jones back at Patriots practice on Tuesday,
- 43:22Speaker 3: so that that starts his clock. So I I, you know,
- 43:27Speaker 3: recent's had that report that it was probably going to
- 43:29Speaker 3: be a couple more weeks, but that they were hopeful
- 43:30Speaker 3: after that that he was going to be able to play.
- 43:33Speaker 3: So I think that you're looking at maybe getting Jack
- 43:37Speaker 3: Jones everybody down.
- 43:40Speaker 4: No, I meant that was a line from Fletch the
- 43:43Speaker 4: crooked police come and thank goodness it's the.
- 43:48Speaker 8: I got you.
- 43:48Speaker 4: Go ahead.
- 43:49Speaker 3: Sorry, I'm going to plead the fifth on that conversation
- 43:51Speaker 3: to Mario Douglas also back at Patriots, so that's good.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Not spotted including Juju, Remandra Stevenson, Hunter, Henry Trent Brown,
- 44:03Speaker 3: josh U J, Devon Godshaw, and Keon White, who left
- 44:07Speaker 3: the game with the concussions, so I would expect him
- 44:09Speaker 3: to be out. Speaking of tackles, there was a new
- 44:14Speaker 3: number seventy five, who we all presume is actually an
- 44:17Speaker 3: old number seventy five, and that would be one Connor McDermott.
- 44:21Speaker 4: I thought he was placed on IOWA.
- 44:23Speaker 3: He was on IR He was then released with an
- 44:25Speaker 3: injury settlement, and I assumed that the rules have now
- 44:30Speaker 3: passed and he is backed. And I I say this
- 44:34Speaker 3: with not being.
- 44:35Speaker 4: Like to say it, I know exactly.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Benefit not not being naive of this is where we're at,
- 44:43Speaker 3: that it's Connor McDermott that's coming to save the season.
- 44:46Speaker 3: But it is. It is an upgrade potentially over Darian Low.
- 44:50Speaker 4: It really is.
- 44:50Speaker 3: I think his film Last Year Down the Stretch is
- 44:53Speaker 3: certainly better than anything Vederian Low has put out.
- 44:56Speaker 1: We remember, look at what they do, not what they say.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Oh this is what Finally they probably agree.
- 45:03Speaker 8: I like that line, Fred, because when I think of, oh,
- 45:06Speaker 8: we're going to start over this week, I'm like, I
- 45:08Speaker 8: feel like the hype around hearing starting over. We were
- 45:11Speaker 8: expecting to see a different product on Sunday, but what
- 45:14Speaker 8: we saw was not exactly starting over right.
- 45:18Speaker 5: A just rifling off that list of absence sees again,
- 45:20Speaker 5: I'm just curious, you said, gotcha, Trump, Brown, Hunter.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Henry remondra Stevenson, Hunter, Henry Trent, Brown, Juju Smith, Schuster,
- 45:27Speaker 3: John Jones, josh U J. Devon, Godshaw, key On White.
- 45:31Speaker 3: So I think, like I brought up the Tuesday practice thing.
- 45:34Speaker 3: So this is the second consecutive week that they've practiced
- 45:37Speaker 3: on a Tuesday, I will say that this is their
- 45:41Speaker 3: one and five, like this is a sign of the times,
- 45:43Speaker 3: Like this is not like a normal thing for them
- 45:45Speaker 3: to be practicing on Tuesdays. In my time on the beat,
- 45:48Speaker 3: They've never practiced on Tuesdays. We asked Trags. You know,
- 45:51Speaker 3: Paul can weigh in. It's been here longer than me.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Trags can't recall them ever practicing on a Tuesday either,
- 45:57Speaker 3: and he goes back thirty years of covering the Patriots.
- 45:59Speaker 4: So we talked about it before. Yeah, I never never
- 46:03Speaker 4: remember Tuesday practice.
- 46:04Speaker 3: Right, So guys like We'mandre, Henry Trent, those guys God Shot,
- 46:10Speaker 3: like those guys I think are just banged up throughout
- 46:12Speaker 3: the course of the season and their absences today. I
- 46:15Speaker 3: wouldn't panic over just yet. I think that that's more
- 46:18Speaker 3: a maintenance day and this is an awkward thing to
- 46:21Speaker 3: have this Tuesday practice.
- 46:23Speaker 4: Okay, I would agree with that.
- 46:24Speaker 5: I was a little surprised that Stevenson came back in
- 46:26Speaker 5: the game, but once he did, I assumed that he
- 46:29Speaker 5: cleared any kind.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Of yeah, well, you know, it's funny watch again it
- 46:33Speaker 3: was so he actually said it. So he said it
- 46:35Speaker 3: was his ankle post game.
- 46:37Speaker 5: And then I think he fell and kind of hit
- 46:38Speaker 5: his head on him play, and I think they just
- 46:40Speaker 5: pulled him to check him.
- 46:40Speaker 4: But I think that he was immediately grabbed his face mask,
- 46:43Speaker 4: if I'm not mistaken, Like, I was really happy what
- 46:47Speaker 4: he got back in the game. Now, I say this
- 46:49Speaker 4: all the time because I get annoyed at the yents
- 46:51Speaker 4: on Twitter every night and every time I watch every
- 46:54Speaker 4: no every time I watch a game, every time a
- 46:56Speaker 4: guy goes down like it happens Sunday night, Josh Allen
- 47:00Speaker 4: gets sacked and he hit his head on the ground,
- 47:02Speaker 4: It doesn't mean he has a concussion, like he got checked.
- 47:05Speaker 4: He left the game for a couple of plays. If
- 47:09Speaker 4: he goes over to the neurologists, it's always crooked, Like
- 47:12Speaker 4: to everybody on Twitter and it's always generally like it's
- 47:15Speaker 4: crooked for Kansas City, it's crooked for Buffalo, you know,
- 47:19Speaker 4: Like it's always the teams that tend to be good
- 47:22Speaker 4: that the NFL is trying to let win. So Josh
- 47:25Speaker 4: Allen was allowed back in the game. Ramindrie Stevenson didn't
- 47:28Speaker 4: necessarily have to have a concussion just because he hit
- 47:30Speaker 4: his head hard on the turf. So I was really
- 47:33Speaker 4: glad when he came back in the game and they
- 47:35Speaker 4: don't drag any My timeline wasn't littered with how did
- 47:38Speaker 4: he just pass concussion protocol so fast?
- 47:40Speaker 5: Right, Well, it's good that the NFL is being able
- 47:42Speaker 5: to do that. I meant, that's how case like. But
- 47:45Speaker 5: he like ran over to the side and got checked
- 47:47Speaker 5: out quick. Now, now if that rough in the passer
- 47:49Speaker 5: call was pretty crazy. Oh it's a terrible call. It's
- 47:51Speaker 5: a terrible call.
- 47:53Speaker 4: But my point about the concussions is like do they
- 47:57Speaker 4: miss him. Of course they do, Like this is situation
- 48:00Speaker 4: with Tua last year. Obviously was more severe than was
- 48:05Speaker 4: originally let on. But because of that, now every time
- 48:08Speaker 4: a guy gets it, he automatically has to be concustom
- 48:11Speaker 4: needs to come out of the game.
- 48:12Speaker 1: You know, like, yeah, they're airing on the side of cars.
- 48:16Speaker 4: But and I get that, that's okay, So let him
- 48:19Speaker 4: get checked out, right, Like who was the guy? Jamal
- 48:22Speaker 4: Adams went ballistic on the guy, right, and he apologized.
- 48:26Speaker 4: He got I think he got, he got. He got
- 48:28Speaker 4: made to look bad for that. But just because he
- 48:32Speaker 4: got hit in the head doesn't mean like he needs
- 48:34Speaker 4: to miss the next three games, right, you know, so
- 48:36Speaker 4: I get it?
- 48:37Speaker 1: Did you already ask Evan the mood step on your toes?
- 48:42Speaker 1: We are wondering what is the movie?
- 48:44Speaker 3: Well, so I actually have an answer for you this week,
- 48:48Speaker 3: because actually there was you know, it was a Tuesday practice,
- 48:51Speaker 3: so it was a little bit of a lighter contingent
- 48:54Speaker 3: because this was you know, kind of unexpected to an extent,
- 48:56Speaker 3: and uh, there was a lot of moving parts, so
- 48:59Speaker 3: we actually he had to to band together and huddle
- 49:02Speaker 3: up a little bit and go over our absences and
- 49:05Speaker 3: things like that. So this was this one made you
- 49:08Speaker 3: think a little bit. This was more like a training
- 49:10Speaker 3: camp practice where like, you know, there's ninety guys out there.
- 49:13Speaker 4: And you have to don't care for it. Yeah, I
- 49:15Speaker 4: don't like relying on other people's information. I want my guy.
- 49:18Speaker 1: So instead of the usual chatter that people had to
- 49:21Speaker 1: get down to work.
- 49:22Speaker 3: Yeah, you had to focus. There was a lot of
- 49:25Speaker 3: you know, guys coming back, guys absent, new guy, you know, Likeybe.
- 49:28Speaker 4: They were grousing about having to like collaborate with everybody.
- 49:31Speaker 3: And yeah, that's what It's a lot going on.
- 49:33Speaker 4: I was not talking to that guy. But what about
- 49:35Speaker 4: this Eric take attendance?
- 49:37Speaker 1: How was the on field.
- 49:38Speaker 3: Move same as usual? I thought Jack Jones, I watched him,
- 49:42Speaker 3: you know, warming up a little bit just to see
- 49:43Speaker 3: what he how he was moving. And we didn't get
- 49:46Speaker 3: to watch that much of practice, but you can always
- 49:49Speaker 3: tell when a guy is like excited to be back
- 49:51Speaker 3: out there, and that was that was his mood, for sure.
- 49:54Speaker 3: He was. He was bouncing around a little bit. Return
- 49:57Speaker 3: Connor mcturmott seventy five looks good.
- 50:00Speaker 1: What's uh? Speaking of Jack Jones, what's the deal with
- 50:04Speaker 1: Jonathan Jones?
- 50:06Speaker 4: Banged up? He looks a little uh to me? Still, yeah, yeah,
- 50:09Speaker 4: I get that. What a knee injury? I think again,
- 50:11Speaker 4: I want to throw it out. What did you see
- 50:14Speaker 4: in the deep ball to that Jonathan Jones allowed to
- 50:16Speaker 4: Trey Tucker tough spot.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they they doubled Myers and DeVante Adams underneath.
- 50:23Speaker 4: Do you think that that should have happened?
- 50:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so.
- 50:26Speaker 4: Why did Jonathan Jones get up looking for a safety?
- 50:29Speaker 10: Uh?
- 50:30Speaker 3: I don't know. That's a good question. They you know,
- 50:33Speaker 3: they had, like.
- 50:35Speaker 4: I think Peppers should not have come down on that.
- 50:37Speaker 3: They had crossing routes, you know, each direction, right and uh,
- 50:41Speaker 3: one by Myers and one by Adams and bullet dugger
- 50:44Speaker 3: and jumped Adams, Peppers jumped Myers and John Jones was
- 50:48Speaker 3: one on one down the field with Tucker.
- 50:50Speaker 4: Yeah. I just was wondering if one of those safeties,
- 50:52Speaker 4: and I thought it was Peppers that should have been
- 50:54Speaker 4: It looked like Jones was expecting deep Yeah, I don't know.
- 50:57Speaker 4: Maybe he was just trying to avoid blame.
- 50:59Speaker 3: Uh, this was not He's banged.
- 51:02Speaker 4: Fred will tell you that is a page written, directed
- 51:07Speaker 4: and produced by Ty Law. Law was the greatest ever
- 51:12Speaker 4: at immediately letting everybody.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Know what my fault.
- 51:15Speaker 4: I just gave up a catch, but it might not
- 51:16Speaker 4: necessarily my fault.
- 51:17Speaker 5: I would say two in theory, like you would think
- 51:19Speaker 5: Trey Tucker was he drafted or yeah, it was rookie,
- 51:22Speaker 5: but no, not yet around he's fast, but I mean
- 51:24Speaker 5: Jonathan Jones on him like, well, I that's super fa.
- 51:27Speaker 5: That's how I sort of read the coverage was we're
- 51:30Speaker 5: going to take away your two best options and leave
- 51:33Speaker 5: the guy who we think our best corner is one
- 51:35Speaker 5: on one with your rookie receiver, and we're going to
- 51:37Speaker 5: take the matchup.
- 51:38Speaker 3: Uh, and he just got beat. But this was John
- 51:41Speaker 3: Jones gave up one hundred and seventeen yards into his
- 51:43Speaker 3: coverage in this game, and other than when he goes
- 51:45Speaker 3: up against thee fon Diggs, I can't really think of
- 51:48Speaker 3: another instance where where he gives up that that kind
- 51:52Speaker 3: of yardage. So it wasn't just the forty eight yard
- 51:54Speaker 3: this so that was a rough game for him.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, all right, eight five to five pats
- 51:57Speaker 1: five hundred is the ace ticket hut line. Let's go
- 51:59Speaker 1: to the phones. We'll start with Alex in Austin. What's up, Alex, Hey, guys,
- 52:05Speaker 1: how are we doing good? Thanks for holding man?
- 52:08Speaker 12: Yeah, I have one point to make and one question.
- 52:15Speaker 12: The point I wanted to make was on the safety
- 52:17Speaker 12: at the end the offensive lines reaction and just leaving
- 52:21Speaker 12: the field and only one of them reluctantly helping back
- 52:24Speaker 12: up was absolute bush league in my opinion, and I
- 52:28Speaker 12: just really hated to see that because they looked like, oh, yeah,
- 52:32Speaker 12: we let this guy through to get a safety on you,
- 52:35Speaker 12: and now we're not gonna even like hold ourselves accountable
- 52:38Speaker 12: and help you out.
- 52:40Speaker 4: But my my question was who what teams are we
- 52:45Speaker 4: better than?
- 52:47Speaker 12: Like I'd argue Carolina is better than us. They had
- 52:51Speaker 12: a good opening game plan against Miami, they just don't
- 52:54Speaker 12: have the defensive talent to see it through. And like
- 52:57Speaker 12: Denver would put points up on us. Uh, Like, the
- 53:01Speaker 12: only ones that really come to mind are Indianapolis now
- 53:04Speaker 12: that Richards is out, and New York Giants.
- 53:08Speaker 1: Yeah, at this point it doesn't even really matter.
- 53:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not necessarily going to pare all the rosters.
- 53:14Speaker 4: I would say that, you know, the Washington's, the Indies,
- 53:17Speaker 4: the Giants, those are teams that are similar to you.
- 53:19Speaker 4: I think the Raiders are similar to you in talent.
- 53:22Speaker 4: There wasn't a huge gap in talent on on Sunday that.
- 53:25Speaker 3: You're better than the Carolina Panthers team.
- 53:28Speaker 4: I think the Panthers are stripping it down and.
- 53:32Speaker 3: Oh yeah, like I'm.
- 53:34Speaker 4: Up to be. I actually thought, because I watched a
- 53:37Speaker 4: good chunk of that game on Red Zone Sunday, and
- 53:41Speaker 4: I actually thought that they they did have a good
- 53:43Speaker 4: game plan to start of that game, and I thought
- 53:45Speaker 4: Bryce Young looked pretty good at the start of that game. Now,
- 53:48Speaker 4: much which happens to a lot of rookie quarterbacks. Here's
- 53:52Speaker 4: the ten things we want to do this week, Evan,
- 53:54Speaker 4: and then when the other team sort of figures out
- 53:56Speaker 4: with what eight of those ten things are tough, you know,
- 53:59Speaker 4: kind of like Mac in the middle of his rookie year. Yeah, right,
- 54:02Speaker 4: you know you see a difference.
- 54:03Speaker 1: Yeah, what's your question?
- 54:05Speaker 3: I think that was the question.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Oh, oh, that's it.
- 54:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think. I don't necessarily think there were
- 54:10Speaker 4: a lot of teams that the Patriots are more talented
- 54:12Speaker 4: quote unquote then, but I think there were a lot
- 54:14Speaker 4: of similar teams to the Patriots.
- 54:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I know the Giants played their backup
- 54:17Speaker 3: quarterback with Tyrod in that game, but that offense is
- 54:20Speaker 3: a dumpster fire.
- 54:21Speaker 4: Well that offense, you do realize the entirety of that
- 54:24Speaker 4: They started a guy that was literally he said it
- 54:27Speaker 4: on my Yeah.
- 54:29Speaker 3: I mean maybe they I don't know the Giants injury
- 54:32Speaker 3: situation that well, but I just know that that that was.
- 54:35Speaker 1: What the Patriots are getting down the start point too,
- 54:37Speaker 1: with the injuries. You know, It's yeah, I mean that's
- 54:41Speaker 1: what happens when things go south, guys.
- 54:43Speaker 5: I mean, you know, well, I mean I think we're
- 54:45Speaker 5: getting at that point now. That's what we're kind of
- 54:47Speaker 5: talking about.
- 54:47Speaker 4: Like, yeah, I think some of it is injuries, that
- 54:49Speaker 4: some of it is poor play, like too.
- 54:51Speaker 1: I mean, Josh is in Dallas, Hey, Josh.
- 54:55Speaker 13: Everyone, I think we can agree that the writing is
- 54:59Speaker 13: kind of on the all that the end of the
- 55:01Speaker 13: Mac Jones era is coming, and maybe probably even the
- 55:05Speaker 13: Bill Belichick era. And so I'm not asking you guys
- 55:09Speaker 13: to debate. I think we've kind of talked enough about
- 55:12Speaker 13: whether it's Mac who just can't play, or the coaching
- 55:16Speaker 13: musical chairs, or they didn't set them up with receivers, whatever.
- 55:18Speaker 13: I'm not asking you guys to debate that. But I
- 55:21Speaker 13: would love for you guys just to maybe speculate a
- 55:24Speaker 13: little bit if Lord willing Pe' is still on the
- 55:27Speaker 13: air in twenty years, when you guys think about this
- 55:29Speaker 13: post Brady era with Bill kind of at the end
- 55:33Speaker 13: of his time and Mac Jones as a quarterback. What
- 55:36Speaker 13: do you think it'll be most remembered for. How do
- 55:39Speaker 13: you think you guys in the media and the fans
- 55:42Speaker 13: will remember it if you guys are referencing it on
- 55:44Speaker 13: future shows.
- 55:45Speaker 1: Thanks guys, Okay, I mean hopefully in twenty years. This
- 55:48Speaker 1: is just a footnote, like it's a hiccup and we've
- 55:52Speaker 1: done better since then. But like, if you're looking at
- 55:55Speaker 1: this era, this is like the purgatory Fred. This is
- 55:59Speaker 1: the after you lose the greatest player in the in
- 56:03Speaker 1: the world that you needed to adjust and it just
- 56:06Speaker 1: took you time.
- 56:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I just say, but I think they fell into
- 56:09Speaker 4: a talent void.
- 56:09Speaker 5: And I mean, I guess the phrase falling into is
- 56:11Speaker 5: putting it kindly, but they ended up in a talent
- 56:14Speaker 5: void and that's really where they're at.
- 56:16Speaker 4: They don't have any star players. They don't really.
- 56:18Speaker 5: They had to go out and try to buy a
- 56:19Speaker 5: couple in free agency, and you know, they got good
- 56:22Speaker 5: returns on Judon, but they didn't.
- 56:23Speaker 4: They just didn't get enough out of the draft.
- 56:25Speaker 5: And you know, I think like just a lot of
- 56:28Speaker 5: their moves have just backfired in their face over these
- 56:30Speaker 5: last few.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Years that there was a talent void. There was a
- 56:32Speaker 1: coaching void. I mean it was just a void.
- 56:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean all the credible when you really think
- 56:37Speaker 3: about like all of the personnel moves that they've made
- 56:41Speaker 3: and how many of them have blown up in their face,
- 56:43Speaker 3: is it's actually a kind of an insane run.
- 56:46Speaker 4: It is just like it's.
- 56:47Speaker 5: Almost hard to imagine how they could have, you know,
- 56:49Speaker 5: missed on so many first round picks.
- 56:51Speaker 3: I feel like if this like the draft, even in
- 56:53Speaker 3: free agency too, like sorry to cut you off to Mara,
- 56:55Speaker 3: but like you know, just look at that class from
- 56:58Speaker 3: twenty twenty one in free agent. So you got what
- 57:01Speaker 3: Jude on Hunter Henry and Hunter Henry and I'm like,
- 57:05Speaker 3: you know, the John Ude signing, the you know, the
- 57:07Speaker 3: jujuw signing, Like it's not Parker, Like it's not just
- 57:11Speaker 3: the draft. Like they've done a terrible job in pro personnel.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Also for like four years, Riley Reef.
- 57:17Speaker 4: And Calvin Anderson was supposed to be the answers that
- 57:19Speaker 4: tackle this year. Like you know, like just you can go.
- 57:22Speaker 5: On and on, it's it's and when you start really
- 57:25Speaker 5: thinking about it and lining it up from I don't know,
- 57:27Speaker 5: twenty eighteen on it's just that that's what it is.
- 57:30Speaker 5: That's why they're here. It's just poor decisions that have
- 57:33Speaker 5: all kind of backfright. I thought it was interesting. You see,
- 57:34Speaker 5: Julian Edelman had a comment. I just, I mean, nothing
- 57:36Speaker 5: we didn't know, but he was talking about how you
- 57:39Speaker 5: know when you see and you could tell who was
- 57:40Speaker 5: talking about.
- 57:41Speaker 4: I don't want to call anybody out, but you know,
- 57:43Speaker 4: you have.
- 57:43Speaker 5: A first round pick, you know, and it's like yeah, yeah,
- 57:48Speaker 5: I mean it's and it's so many of the things
- 57:49Speaker 5: again like to go back to like, Hi, I'm just
- 57:51Speaker 5: a Patriots and Filter writer, but it's like these things
- 57:53Speaker 5: seemed obvious to me. And I don't want to be
- 57:55Speaker 5: the one who was, you know, saying you should have
- 57:57Speaker 5: known better. But I just it's shocking to me how
- 57:59Speaker 5: they could have made this many mistakes.
- 58:00Speaker 8: I feel like if this was any other organization who
- 58:03Speaker 8: was coached by someone else, they would have been lego,
- 58:05Speaker 8: Like this would not be a four year situation.
- 58:08Speaker 4: Last year.
- 58:09Speaker 5: I think last year would have done it, you know
- 58:10Speaker 5: what I mean, twenty twenty you're in COVID and you know,
- 58:13Speaker 5: all right, fine, I think everybody, like even the most
- 58:15Speaker 5: diehard you know, Brady fans would have said the year
- 58:18Speaker 5: after Brady leaves, let's just temper expectations, all right, Like,
- 58:20Speaker 5: you know, we all know what he was and what
- 58:22Speaker 5: he meant. But you know, you spend in twenty twenty one,
- 58:25Speaker 5: it seems like you draft a quarterback, you've turned the corner.
- 58:28Speaker 5: But they just couldn't hit on enough moves to you know,
- 58:31Speaker 5: make it work.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Do you think the moves that they made over the
- 58:33Speaker 1: last three years are moves that a team who knows
- 58:37Speaker 1: they're in rebuilding mode make, or are they moves that
- 58:41Speaker 1: of a team that think, you know, we're not that
- 58:43Speaker 1: we're not that far away that Yeah.
- 58:46Speaker 8: I think it's more so like we have the best coaches,
- 58:48Speaker 8: like we can coach, we can coach anything and make
- 58:50Speaker 8: it something.
- 58:51Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's that's.
- 58:52Speaker 3: Not the case.
- 58:53Speaker 4: I think the moves they've made or moves that they think,
- 58:55Speaker 4: you know, a couple of tweaks here and there. I
- 58:57Speaker 4: think they think they're a lot closer than we think
- 58:59Speaker 4: they are.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:01Speaker 3: I don't know if like they're it's hard because I
- 59:03Speaker 3: don't know if they're necessarily that far away. It's just
- 59:07Speaker 3: like what they need is to is like the hardest
- 59:11Speaker 3: things to get and it's like the biggest thing, right, Like,
- 59:13Speaker 3: you know, if you dropped in a better quarterback and
- 59:17Speaker 3: a number one receiver, Like, would this team all of
- 59:19Speaker 3: a sudden be winning ten eleven games again? Like, oh,
- 59:22Speaker 3: I think they would.
- 59:23Speaker 4: If they had with that line. Yeah, yeah they would.
- 59:26Speaker 3: I think they would, especially if, like the line is
- 59:30Speaker 3: healthier than it had has been.
- 59:32Speaker 9: A healthy Burrow and Chase in this.
- 59:35Speaker 5: Oh okay, now, well he just said a top quarterback
- 59:38Speaker 5: and a top receiver and.
- 59:39Speaker 1: That's put both of them here, and those are the
- 59:42Speaker 1: top of the top.
- 59:43Speaker 4: But if you had a really good quarterback and a
- 59:46Speaker 4: really good receiver, you'd be able to outscore some teams.
- 59:49Speaker 4: You can't do that now, Yeah, Like it's not there's
- 59:53Speaker 4: a lot of teams with terrible line play. It doesn't
- 59:56Speaker 4: have to look like this when you have terrible line play. Yeah,
- 59:59Speaker 4: I just think.
- 59:59Speaker 5: There's doesn't I mean, if I go to the defensive
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: side of the ball, too, I feel like they're.
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: Kind of just stuck in the middle, like, you know,
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: they just don't really have and today's game. To me,
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: they're fine defensively, but they're just they're not the defense
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: that they're purported to be no, like you're not winning
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: games because of your defense. The defense is like, you know,
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: you look at that, They've never done that. They've never
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: done that against that kind of an opponent.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: It's it's the defenses of the injuries on the defense
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: as a bummer. Like if they had Judon and Christian
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: Gonzales and they are building with Gonzales, I really think
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: that they could have been unap double better.
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: I don't think they'd be like that. I would think
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: they'd be winning games.
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: But I wonder what it would look like if they
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: had Gonzalez but they didn't have jude On, you know,
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: like because I just I like, I hate to hammer
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: the jude On point, but it's you know, and I
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: think he On White has some promise, but he's not
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: going to be Matt jude On, Like you need, you
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: needed another one of those kind of players, not kind
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: of a let's feel it out hybrid defensive end stand
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: up maybe like you need. I mean, that's why the
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: Anthony Jennings all of a sudden, guess what he'sn probably
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: play a hundred percent of the.
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: Nap A point, Fred I mean to the callers point,
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: rather twenty years from now, when we're doing our when
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: you and I are still doing the show, and we'll
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: get in an argument over what the the lasting legacy
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: is of this era? Do you really think so like
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: and will still be doing it?
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: No?
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: No, no, I just I feel like, twenty years from now,
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: when I talk about Bill Belichick with my kids or
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: something like that, you talking about these four years. No, no,
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: no chance.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: When you are talking about these four years, I think
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: you're gonna say they wasted time.
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: I just feel like we're gonna get so far down
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: the like that's such a footnote in the Belichick era
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: that I don't know if I'm ever.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: Going to be But I ever talk about like the
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: the eighty to eighty four Pittsburgh Steelers for Chuck Nolan.
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: Well, but I have to say though, for me, like
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: I will talk about them because I was like a
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: blogger boy outside and then you're right, you're in it.
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: You're I'm responding to the question, this is my wad,
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: but you're working right. But that's the change for me
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: was going from the outside and all of a sudden
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: you're the inside. You get a year of Brady, you
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: see how it's kind of looking, and then I mean
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: it's you know, I never in a million.
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: Years would have thought it would be this void if
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: we were all I mean, if we were all still
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: here seriously in twenty years, Yes we would talk like that. Yeah,
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: you know, I just think outside I'm with Evan, like,
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: I don't think anybody looks back at Tom Landry and says,
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: just you know, right, you know that the last four
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: or five years, man.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: That the only guy that gets out is Shula. But
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: that's because the only one one. So I feel like
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: it's just, uh, you know, kind of like like you know,
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: he really.
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: Couldn't win with Marino, like, but the thing, and like,
- 1:02:37Speaker 4: there's no question in my mind how I feel. I
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: think Shula is the worst coach out of that group.
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: That's how I feel about Shola. But I think I
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: always felt like he owned the refs because he was
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: on the competition. I believe me. I hated the Dolphins
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: when I was a kid. I felt like they would
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: crooked as the day as long whatever. But he didn't
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: fall apart like all the rest of them did either.
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: He couldn't quite win with Marino, but he was always there. Yeah,
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: he was always in the ABC Championship game and lost
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: I don't know, but I I just like the other guys,
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: like completely couldn't do anything.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: I thought. I remember, whether it's Landry Shula or no.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: They stay too long.
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: They all did. Yeah, but what I'm saying is it
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: didn't collapse under Shula the way it did.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: No, no, right, land they stay too long. And now
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: if Bill stays a few more years, it's gonna be.
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: It could be. But do you think that's the legacy
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: of those guys?
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: Oh no, no, no, no no, but that is part of
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: their story.
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: Yes, and it will be part of Bill's story. Yes,
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: this is how it ends. Was Landry's last year the one?
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: Was it a one win season? That was Jimmy Johnson's
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: first first year? Okay? And then who dates? So then
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: they scatch Troy eight Man. I think Aikman was part
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: of the one.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: In fus Yeah, yeah, he was Donni's and Pittsburgh. What's up, Donnie?
- 1:03:51Speaker 14: Hey, thanks for taking the call again. I was calling
- 1:03:54Speaker 14: to just follow.
- 1:03:55Speaker 15: Up on last week.
- 1:03:56Speaker 14: You know you guys talked about what's starting over man
- 1:03:58Speaker 14: after Bill's comments. We talked about improving the run game,
- 1:04:01Speaker 14: getting more production out of defense with turnovers. A little
- 1:04:04Speaker 14: bit of that stuff happened. He got a little bit
- 1:04:06Speaker 14: of improved offensive line play. I think all around, even
- 1:04:10Speaker 14: Kendrick Bourne and guys I still believe in him played
- 1:04:12Speaker 14: a little better, but still the quarterback did not. So
- 1:04:15Speaker 14: my questions kind of forevan on that where do we
- 1:04:18Speaker 14: go from here? Do you think it's not even worth
- 1:04:19Speaker 14: bention Mac even though you're finally.
- 1:04:21Speaker 16: A guy who's given up if you heard the first
- 1:04:23Speaker 16: part of the show, but I mean benching him for
- 1:04:26Speaker 16: whom like that's the like it just if they had
- 1:04:28Speaker 16: a better option, or they had like an exciting option,
- 1:04:31Speaker 16: I don't even know a way to put it, like, and.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: Don't call in about Malik like it's it, that's not
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: that's not an option, like a real option. Okay, so
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: it just what else do you really do? I actually
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: thought that they spoke after the game about how they
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: got back to a lot of like their base concepts,
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: like their day one install stuff, and I think some
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: of that is is true. But I liked what they
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: did with the Running game. There was more motion involved
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: in the Running Game, some jet sweeps and end a rounds,
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: some you know, go motion where they showed the motion,
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: but they don't actually give the ball to the guy
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: and that seemed to work and open up some things.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: They were definitely better in short yardage, and I think
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: that was something that a lot of people were kind
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: of screaming about, was like why do you keep passing
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: it on third and in one and two, Like like
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: why are we running the ball? And they were able
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: to pick up some first downs on the ground, you know,
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: tossed to Remandre, sweep to Bourne, like just by running
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: the ball on third and short. So in some ways,
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: I think they started over in that sense of like
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: going back to the basics of their install But I
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: also think that they dressed it up a little bit
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: better in the run game, and I think that's why
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: a lot of the reason why they had more success
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: with it.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: We didn't get to talk about it because it was
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: a move that was made late or just before the game,
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: and you guys probably talked about in the postgame show.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: But what do you think with the home Elite Cunningham
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: thing and you know, elevating him to the second quarterback
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: and how they eventually used him, what did you think about.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: All that His six naps were a disaster?
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: So yeah, none of them like that, Like you know,
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: I just don't understand it. It's it's the lead of
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: my notes today that we posted this morning. Mike and
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: I talked about it the whole post, whole pregame show,
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: the whole notion that Mac was on a short leash
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: was the opposite because that that move prevented you from
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: having the ability to take mac Jones out of the game,
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: because there's no possible way you could turn the offense
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: over to Malie Cunningham for anything other than a specific
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: package of plays, which they obviously used. I think you
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: get did you get.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: Two STAPs wrong and TfL right?
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: So I'll get to that later off there too.
- 1:06:46Speaker 10: But the.
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: Did the decision to do to do that? Like what
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: if Mac Jones like hear me out here and I know, like,
- 1:06:54Speaker 4: well now he's talking about ifs, and he always makes
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: fun of the ifs, But like, is it out of
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: the realm of possibility that Mac Jones turns an ankle
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: and needs to miss like two series? What you're gonna
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: do now? So now Zappi has to come in, right,
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: So Zappi comes in. That means mac Jones can't return
- 1:07:11Speaker 4: and Cunningham can't return, can't play right, So you put
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: yourself in a situation where to avoid that you would
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: have had to have played Cunningham for actual series of
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: downs and potentially put the kid didn't care in my opinion,
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: in the situation that he absolutely could not compete.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: I agree. I think it was.
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: It was a disservice to the team. It was negligent,
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: and I know I used that word with coaches a lot.
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: It was coaching negligence and they were lucky that it
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: didn't really come into into play. But listen, if Mac
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: Jones gets hit in the first play of the game
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: and goes down with the concussion, he's out, then it's
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: a point like you're putting in Bailey ZAPPI. You don't
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: want to put Mac. You can't put Mac Jones back
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: in any way, even if even if you wanted to,
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: you can't.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: Well, how could you put in Bailey's happy.
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: Because then cunning he wouldn't be able to play. But
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: so cunning you could do that if you if the
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: first two guys are no longer available.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: Right, But you just said that if Mac in the
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: first player of the game, get Like, my whole thing
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: is is if Mac gets hurt, Like, let's say.
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: You lose two players you lose, the first has to
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: be hurt. No, no, no, just unavailable?
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: Was how does that? What do you mean unavailable?
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: He can't play?
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: So he he can he can get skipped over, but.
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: He couldn't go in the game.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Even.
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: Let's just I thought, let's just say the second player
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: of the game, Bailey's Appy gets a concussion, He's out
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: right now, you're going with uh ramondre Stevenson out of
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: the wildcat everything.
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: So I thought that you that the the QB two.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: I would thought that QB two had to get hurt
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: in order for you to activate QB three.
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: But you don't. Really, I mean, like, who's to say
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: who qb QB two even.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: Is well that you have to designate it where in
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: the inactives?
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: No, you have to just need an emergency guy.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: I thought, what I'm saying is I the rule was
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: is that in order to even get to the emergency
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: quarterback as an option.
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: You first two can't be available.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: I thought it was that they have to have injuries.
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: Well, I mean, there's obviously an easy way to do that.
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: You haven't if if in fact you're right, he goes
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: out and runs a wildcat in the first play and
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: they tell him stay down. Yeah. Right, but this is
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: what we talked about. And this is why, like, I'm
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: not this is even an argument, Yeah, because because I'm
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: just we're saying the same thing.
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: I just thought maybe the rule is I was confused.
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: Whether or not you get stuck with Malie Cunningham is
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: irrelevant to my Lodger point. You're putting yourself in a
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: situation that you're putting the team in peril.
- 1:09:38Speaker 8: Literally, And he didn't even have a proper warm up,
- 1:09:41Speaker 8: like oh that that also annoyed the crap he warmed
- 1:09:46Speaker 8: up in the locker room so he wouldn't show anybody anything.
- 1:09:49Speaker 8: That's weird, Like, no one has time for that, Like
- 1:09:52Speaker 8: you need to win games. No one has time to
- 1:09:53Speaker 8: be playing nine games on people.
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: Like games like So if Evan's right, it makes it
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: even worse, by the way, because now he quarterback. Right,
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: My understanding is get hurt. The first two guys have
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: to be unavailable. Now, I think there was a very
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: easy way around this. You don't have to designate an
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: emergency quarterback. You could have had all three on the
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: regular roster.
- 1:10:15Speaker 9: Just had cunning him be a wide receiver and just have.
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: No cunning him could be a quarterback. I'm fine with that,
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: but you do not have to designate a third emergency quarterback.
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: He's one of your forty six pas. That's back spot.
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: He's a spot on the roster. And I don't know,
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: can you get by without Jalen Raider on the roster.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: Apparently not. He was out here. He was out there.
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: He didn't do anything, like, he wasn't part of anything.
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: How about Michael when you he didn't play at all?
- 1:10:40Speaker 4: He was for the emergency.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: So here's the rule is the third quarterback can enter
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: only if the two other quarterbacks are not available due
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: to injury or ejection. Okay, So so Malie could have
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: gone out there and thrown a punch, and I guess
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: even you know they could have gotten you.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: What I'm saying, you just put him in there for
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: the second play and you tell him stay down. We
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: got to get you out either way. The short leash
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: for Mac Jones they had.
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: And that's not fair to Malie Cunningham. It's not fair
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: to him. He spent the entirety of his Patriots career
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: playing wide receiver and he's the second quarterback in that game.
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: Like that makes sense to anybody.
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: And the two snaps that he got a quarterback were yeah,
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: and I'm not putting that on him, Like I know
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: he could have had like a ninety eight yard touchdown
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: run if he pulled it on the first even though
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: there was a guy. But if you would have it
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: would have been a big play. It would have been
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: a one on one and maybe he makes the guy miss.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: Like if you really want to get him in the game,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: you know, like Paul said, list him as your third quarterback,
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: or list him as a wide receiver and use up
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: an extra spot and take on when you out, or
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: somebody someone.
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: Else could have been inactive in that game. You could
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: have had all three of those guys.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Chris Board who shows up every game, But like.
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: What do you but at least he plays. But if
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: you're Mac Jones, what are you thinking? Like you've heard
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: report that.
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: You're gonna be on a short leash and then they
- 1:12:02Speaker 5: don't activate bailly z.
- 1:12:03Speaker 4: That be like to me, it just seems like Max,
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: I'm throwing over one hundred Henry, But what are you
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: gonna do?
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: But that's us saying he was on a short leaf right, Well,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: I'm just sitting I meanick never stood up and said,
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: you know, Max on a short.
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: You know, except for those two weeks that he benched.
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: No, I know, but but it's got to be Mac
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: looking around saying so if I play bad, what are
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: we doing?
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: Like who's going in? But I mean he has to
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: be away?
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: But what did ZAPPI show that?
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: This is my point?
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: I know, but like maybe after that second bench he's.
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: Like if he you know, so okay, so you want
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: so you thought Malie Cunningham would be a better option
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: than Bailey's after.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Will g No, not as not as a quarter.
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: But they wanted that's what Bill did. Bill thought that
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: that was a better option.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: But they know I I don't understand what they did.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: Like I get it that they wanted to have a
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: package for Cunningham in a wildcat situation, but that doesn't
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: mean you had to list him as the number.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: Two quint yourself into a corner.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: I didn't understand that.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: I mean, even the Saints with Taysom Hill, Jason j
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: Mus Winston is active for the game right, they act
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: like they have Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill. And Taysom
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Hill has started games at quarterback in the NFL, like
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: he's legitimately played quarterback.
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: And plays quarterback every game. Yeah right, it's not taking
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: a snapback quarterback every game. You don't have to designate
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: a third quarterback. You can find a way to have
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: all three of those guys just regularly active.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: Paul chess checkers.
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, but we're playing chess with this is part
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: of the thing. It's just like when you on side
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: kick on a punt and punch it right to it
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: and like I'll never expect it.
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: Just how much time are you spending in practice, in
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: the preparation of the game, playing chess with Malie Cunningham
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: and in like all this other Like this is the
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: type of stuff that like I just feel like this organization,
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: this team that worries about all of the wrong things,
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: like way too much. It's like, stop spending so much
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: time trying to like you know, split an at him
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: here and like just like take your your quarterback is
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: clearly broke and like try to like work with him
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: and try to figure some things out.
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: And they sometimes when they do it. And I couldn't
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: agree more with Whatevan the way he just said that.
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: But like sometimes you look at things and they think
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: it and they think it, and they think it, and
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: you're like, okay, and I would use those short yardage
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: runs that they had, like three kind of different looks
- 1:14:18Speaker 4: variations of the same thing. One was like a quick
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: hitting pitch out to Remandre. One was like an end
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: a round I think to Born and a kind of
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: reverse kind of thing. And you look at him, and
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: none of them like broke the bank. I think they
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: were all like five yards or less, but all of
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: them got first downs. So I would look at that
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: and say, Jesus, you really used a lot of effort
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: in time there to get first downs. But that's better
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: than what's been the alternative lately of these third and
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: shorts that they're not converting. So I can understand, Okay,
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: they gave some extra thought. Maybe that was too much
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: thought given to just getting three yards in a first down,
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: but at least it was something that you could tangibly
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: say that they got out of it, these things that
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: they spent time. I'm on, like, we're gonna free kick.
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: We're gonna kick it right to a guy yea, and
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: hope that maybe he forgets that he can fare catch
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: and then well it'll be a jump ball. We might
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: be able to catch it.
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: I a quick question for Eevan, how do you feel
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: about MAPU getting zero defensive snaps?
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: I just like.
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: The same story. I mean, look, I I will to
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: give Jelani Tevai and Anthony Jennings some credit that I
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: think they've both played that j good in that game.
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: Jeliva is on like a heater, like playing well for
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: like the last two or three games. He was like
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: one of the few bright spots in Dallas, and he's look,
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: you know, their pass Russ stinks without Judon, like it's
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: it's literally non existent. But in terms of the run defense,
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: the reason why the run defense hasn't completely tailed off
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: without Judon is is because of those two guys, to
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: Vay and Jennings. So I give to Via some credit.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: I don't know what's going on with MAPU. I think
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: they wanted to give Jalen Mills some snaps because he's
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: sounded off on Twitter about it, so he.
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: Gave up a bunch of catches.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: Yeah, eric'son New jer Hey, Eric, Hey, how you doing.
- 1:16:02Speaker 17: Fred have two questions I asked, I asked deuced and
- 1:16:07Speaker 17: Freddy this, uh, this question only for the Pregameshow the
- 1:16:10Speaker 17: other day but what do you at first, Tamara, Evan
- 1:16:13Speaker 17: and Freddy kind of won't know your thoughts about using
- 1:16:15Speaker 17: Marcus Jones, using Markus Jones on the offensive side again,
- 1:16:18Speaker 17: he's going to getting about twelve fifteen snaps.
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: On when he heard Marcus Jones is on injured reserve,
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: he's hurt.
- 1:16:24Speaker 17: No, I know I'm saying when when I'm saying when
- 1:16:26Speaker 17: he comes back.
- 1:16:26Speaker 4: He's not coming back. He's got a toWin lady, not
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: coming back.
- 1:16:29Speaker 17: But okay for next season or you know this off
- 1:16:31Speaker 17: season program using him on the offensive side just forgiven
- 1:16:34Speaker 17: to Well, let's let's.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Say he wasn't hurt.
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: Let's hope they don't need to.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: Then I would I would use anything I have.
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: He would I would he I would absolutely want to
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: use him on offense if he was healthy.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: I think they would have.
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: But next year I would hope that they don't have
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: to be in the same situation.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they used him on offense. It was
- 1:16:50Speaker 3: only one snap, but in the like right out of
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: the game, in the Philly games.
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: So I wouldn't be opposed to just saying he's.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: He was if he was healthy, trust me.
- 1:16:58Speaker 18: Yeah, but thanks very in the middle oh, I'm sorry,
- 1:17:02Speaker 18: Alex Charlotte, Alex, Yeah, it's not in a good place.
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: Question.
- 1:17:10Speaker 19: So I never go into probably a whole rebuild in
- 1:17:13Speaker 19: the off season. I wonder you guys think there's any
- 1:17:16Speaker 19: value in the crafty and moving Bill into the Ernie
- 1:17:18Speaker 19: Adams role and promote j Mayo's head coach, and so
- 1:17:21Speaker 19: I guess.
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: Listen, do you think there's any value in that?
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: If they really like Gerard Mayo? If I love If
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: they really like Gerard Mayo, I see value in making
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: him head coach. If Bill would agree to just be
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: an advisor, I see value in that. But I don't
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: see value paying him, you know, the highest head coach
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: salary in the league, just to do that.
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: I would hate him absolutely everything about that.
- 1:17:46Speaker 9: I wouldn't want Bill Belichick looming.
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: Over That's why I hate it.
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: I you know, I said it before Bill left the
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: Jets before for that was one of the reasons he
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: didn't want Parcels looming over him.
- 1:17:58Speaker 5: You know, when it's time for a new program, it's
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: time for a new program. I mean, I think I'm
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: willing to make some allotments for Jirodmeyo because I like them.
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: But I don't know if I want him to be
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: the head coach here. If there was a way to
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: get him to defensive coordinator, I think I would probably
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: consider that. I think that's a hard move to make, though,
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: but I think, what if it happens, it's got to be.
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder if like a defensive coordinator associate head
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: coach title for him with.
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: It's just hard with any coach with that hanging over
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: you too, though, But I.
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: Think that the one thing is though, is like in Miami,
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: tried this with the ex patriotsism Josh Boyer and it
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: failed and they moved on to Vic Fangio. But like defensively,
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: like they have a great system. Like, So I don't
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: know if I necessarily mind keeping girod. Mayo as the
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: defensive coordinator to keep the roots of the Belichick defensive
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: system in place. It's almost, you know, you don't need
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: to necessarily start over on that side of the ball.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: So I wouldn't mind that at all if Mayo was
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: still here in some capacity to keep the defense pretty
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: much the same.
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Well, Tamara and Paul's food is here,
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: so we're going to take a break.
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: That's me and we'll be right back.

- 1:19:54Speaker 10: welcome to the Las Vegas Strip to Allegiance Stadium for
- 1:19:58Speaker 10: this week section Gnar want an appoint New England Patriots
- 1:20:01Speaker 10: and then two and three Las Vegas Raiders a head
- 1:20:06Speaker 10: start for the opponent gets three not being lost bag
- 1:20:08Speaker 10: won't check it. Now there's a flag, a flag at
- 1:20:11Speaker 10: the line.
- 1:20:12Speaker 21: Of Strummage's personal foul leverage over ninety six.
- 1:20:19Speaker 10: Oh stupid Roy, how a matter first down?
- 1:20:22Speaker 6: Can't be any dumber here in.
- 1:20:24Speaker 10: San second year defensive lineman employed the field goal block
- 1:20:29Speaker 10: can leverage a critical penalty of Patriots special teams.
- 1:20:35Speaker 21: You the only way you could be dumber signed Jamie
- 1:20:38Speaker 21: Collins back and have him run and jump.
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: They changed the rule for that.
- 1:20:44Speaker 10: Stevens in the single set back and people in the
- 1:20:46Speaker 10: first play, the Patriots are going backwards to move a
- 1:20:49Speaker 10: flag out of England.
- 1:20:50Speaker 21: We'll start hopfense number fifty nine by yard penalty.
- 1:20:56Speaker 6: Verse, Oh aren't you a beach?
- 1:20:59Speaker 10: Oh my god, Harriet Lye the right jackle god. So
- 1:21:02Speaker 10: the offense starts down three nothing now with a firstman
- 1:21:05Speaker 10: fifteen and hand out attended to play fake about a
- 1:21:07Speaker 10: droll underneath and there's nobody there too offense, Well, hunter
- 1:21:10Speaker 10: Henry was there three another flag? Were that play disrupted?
- 1:21:14Speaker 10: So mac Jones with a fake to Stevenson trying to
- 1:21:17Speaker 10: toss it to Henry at the line might get the
- 1:21:19Speaker 10: fight here, do it, crowd?
- 1:21:20Speaker 6: They could make it the five.
- 1:21:21Speaker 10: They did grab them, tried to grab.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: It an elvile man downfield offense number seventy seven, a
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: penally have declined second down two for two today.
- 1:21:32Speaker 10: That's a way to start a football game. Mac Jones
- 1:21:34Speaker 10: screens a right fire shot all to mean he bibbles
- 1:21:39Speaker 10: handed in almost apparently on the deflection, got by Marcus Peters.
- 1:21:44Speaker 10: So Matt Jones tossing it on the right flap for Stevenson.
- 1:21:47Speaker 21: He basically caught it, hooked up, tilt, shuggled it and
- 1:21:51Speaker 21: almost handed it to Marcus Peter.
- 1:21:53Speaker 10: He snabbed it back high high right footed bunt sales
- 1:21:57Speaker 10: left right high to the far side of the field,
- 1:22:01Speaker 10: and it will come down along that farest sideline to
- 1:22:04Speaker 10: be marked. Do you kicking him outside the surety outside
- 1:22:09Speaker 10: the thirty five almost of a foe hard line.
- 1:22:14Speaker 6: You gotta be kidneyed.
- 1:22:17Speaker 10: Jack unstaf two goes on to a format rutch a
- 1:22:19Speaker 10: lot of time across the middle taking it down for Jacobs,
- 1:22:22Speaker 10: running way past the forty. He gets to the forty
- 1:22:24Speaker 10: five and then bear hugging. Oh no, Jelani Levan and
- 1:22:29Speaker 10: I'm glad he'll come in or a likely fifteen yard
- 1:22:33Speaker 10: penalty I am I'm stunning.
- 1:22:37Speaker 6: You know you stop him. The progress is stopped.
- 1:22:40Speaker 10: We're at the point.
- 1:22:41Speaker 6: Down in national football in twenty twenty four.
- 1:22:43Speaker 10: You can't pick any player up and slam him and
- 1:22:46Speaker 10: play personal.
- 1:22:47Speaker 6: Foul, unnecessary roughness.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: Defense number forty eight, fifteen yard penalty automatic first.
- 1:22:54Speaker 10: Now that's a good call to Bay. Cannot pick the
- 1:22:57Speaker 10: player up and try to slam him on his head.
- 1:22:59Speaker 10: He had to do it. Progress was stopped. They were
- 1:23:02Speaker 10: coming in from the side.
- 1:23:03Speaker 6: You can see it right here.
- 1:23:04Speaker 21: Leverage is there, Jonathan Jones there and then boom right
- 1:23:07Speaker 21: than he get hurt his shoulder.
- 1:23:09Speaker 10: Jacobs left the Garoppolo takes the stats and White slapped
- 1:23:14Speaker 10: got it. It is Peppers and Caro Woo to bye.
- 1:23:19Speaker 10: He got a step and a pluckh off that big
- 1:23:21Speaker 10: hit by Peppers and the Patriots finally with another takeaway.
- 1:23:25Speaker 10: Then third other season.
- 1:23:27Speaker 6: Signs Peppers brings it every week.
- 1:23:29Speaker 21: Want to stick by him to pop his ball up
- 1:23:31Speaker 21: and the defense belts himself out.
- 1:23:33Speaker 6: That's a hell to play by Peppers.
- 1:23:36Speaker 10: The snap to Jones standing in pressure, he goes down
- 1:23:40Speaker 10: at the spire a lad loop on the pass rush
- 1:23:43Speaker 10: and Adam Butler another ex Patriot. Thanks. They hit on
- 1:23:47Speaker 10: the sap.
- 1:23:48Speaker 6: I don't think we can block.
- 1:23:49Speaker 10: The air right Seriously, he can't hit on a simple
- 1:23:54Speaker 10: loop to him, got a root head. You face the defense.
- 1:23:56Speaker 6: It brings next level pressure, meeting backers or poor sea pies.
- 1:24:01Speaker 10: You need your ass kids. Jimmy takes the snap, stands
- 1:24:05Speaker 10: at plenty of time.
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: The rowns to the end zone.
- 1:24:07Speaker 10: Car touchdown under the gold post and Jacoby.
- 1:24:10Speaker 6: Meyer, what a dark what a thought from Colopolo hangs in.
- 1:24:14Speaker 21: There's Smith's wing off the back foot and it's Myers
- 1:24:17Speaker 21: and he opened into the back middle. I sure offense
- 1:24:20Speaker 21: champ a yard. Jimmy go Ahold takes him right down
- 1:24:24Speaker 21: and want to throw wide the open pun called for
- 1:24:27Speaker 21: the back underneath the gold post.
- 1:24:29Speaker 6: Wide open that guy.
- 1:24:33Speaker 10: Snap to Jones, what's coming? Throws it right flat Forpelly
- 1:24:36Speaker 10: and running to match the thirty eight thirty five foot car.
- 1:24:39Speaker 10: The femy put the race to the party. I'm flying
- 1:24:41Speaker 10: on the plays. He's changed from behind off. He runs
- 1:24:43Speaker 10: away from his backler. He leaps into the end zo.
- 1:24:46Speaker 10: He lands with an apparent touchdown for the Patriots.
- 1:24:50Speaker 6: It's coming back and they running ahead and he hit something.
- 1:24:53Speaker 10: And back I think every official was too good to
- 1:24:57Speaker 10: be tr a side of the pail on his mp kids. Yeah,
- 1:25:00Speaker 10: right at Hunter Henry's feet. There are two orange or
- 1:25:03Speaker 10: yellow markers all on the turf e racing. We would
- 1:25:08Speaker 10: have been the Patriots first touchdown since the second quarter.
- 1:25:11Speaker 10: Left hand held the.
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: Week three holding off round number eighty five, kingyard Genalley.
- 1:25:20Speaker 6: It's a good call. Can't get out of my own play.
- 1:25:23Speaker 10: Hey boy, what a purse by Zeke too, What a
- 1:25:25Speaker 10: what a fuss would ruling then absolutely ruled that.
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: I don't think he really need to hit there. That's
- 1:25:31Speaker 6: the second part of these calls and some.
- 1:25:33Speaker 10: Of these decisions and these errors that the players are make.
- 1:25:36Speaker 6: Just wall him off, just get foot lem seek this colling.
- 1:25:39Speaker 10: And there's an instance too where Jones, to his credit,
- 1:25:41Speaker 10: with the blitz coming from that side.
- 1:25:42Speaker 21: Of the roosts, could throw as a great berth by
- 1:25:46Speaker 21: Zeke Man.
- 1:25:49Speaker 10: He looks right with a pump, he rolls right, shakes,
- 1:25:51Speaker 10: you can yablop closing.
- 1:25:52Speaker 21: It throw down now ten running it back left side,
- 1:25:56Speaker 21: two thirty down.
- 1:25:58Speaker 10: I'd hit from behind and brought down a twenty five
- 1:26:01Speaker 10: year line. But rose Vegans tray harrily, no, no, no,
- 1:26:07Speaker 10: I'm notver thrown rolling why passing it back and crossed
- 1:26:11Speaker 10: his mind? A giveaway by the Padrians in striking distance
- 1:26:16Speaker 10: and with three point thirty six to go. It's a
- 1:26:18Speaker 10: ten to three league here in the second we're in
- 1:26:22Speaker 10: the pistol. Can now only ut right out of the pistol.
- 1:26:25Speaker 10: He's in for Jones. Cunningham is going to split to
- 1:26:28Speaker 10: the left. It's the wildcat with Elliott waiting on the snap.
- 1:26:31Speaker 10: He takes it because he runs it through the left side,
- 1:26:33Speaker 10: fighting into the into touchdown. Patrians fight away.
- 1:26:40Speaker 6: Just get the ball to fifteen.
- 1:26:41Speaker 10: He'll find a way to get it in. He came
- 1:26:44Speaker 10: to play today, Bill and see Kelliot right back with
- 1:26:47Speaker 10: the play bak ala. He's in trouble that Jones is
- 1:26:50Speaker 10: twisted to the term sat back in the twenty yard
- 1:26:52Speaker 10: line and the credit goes to John Jenkins, the thirty
- 1:26:55Speaker 10: four year old out of Georgia and is eleventh NFL season.
- 1:26:58Speaker 21: In decisive didn't look like he one of the throw
- 1:27:00Speaker 21: initially tried to have an options a bust and played
- 1:27:02Speaker 21: between he and z lost of four the starter drive killing.
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: Itself man.
- 1:27:10Speaker 10: Cunningham in a quarterback. He's in trouble going back and
- 1:27:14Speaker 10: surrounded and dropped by Crosby and the Raiders. This is
- 1:27:19Speaker 10: this is how this function Jones came off. Cunningham of course,
- 1:27:23Speaker 10: just side with the fifty three man roster. The Patriots
- 1:27:25Speaker 10: looking for a spark and another negative play.
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: In lois by this high school.
- 1:27:30Speaker 6: This is like rotating quarterbacks.
- 1:27:32Speaker 21: One sends a play in, one goes, You're putting pressure
- 1:27:35Speaker 21: on this kid like you's backing hair of throat if
- 1:27:38Speaker 21: you're gonna throw it.
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: Drop back.
- 1:27:42Speaker 10: Stevens in the back of takes the head of buttons
- 1:27:44Speaker 10: at left. He's end of the dive, touchdown Patriots. Bray
- 1:27:48Speaker 10: Stevenson back Covid Las Vegas and the Patriots back within
- 1:27:53Speaker 10: a single score. Beny coming in a hurry, throw to
- 1:27:58Speaker 10: the left and.
- 1:27:58Speaker 6: At ten your cray a shirt.
- 1:28:00Speaker 10: Tuck J C. Jackson making a call for the pass
- 1:28:04Speaker 10: interference if not a hole trade talkers to receive us
- 1:28:07Speaker 10: of the appearance.
- 1:28:08Speaker 6: Defense number thirty three Poly was placed with.
- 1:28:11Speaker 10: The spot and automatic erst Thow, Brett Rodgers identified and
- 1:28:17Speaker 10: pretty Jennings. I think as got the light.
- 1:28:21Speaker 6: This ball get air mill before the cut. Is this
- 1:28:25Speaker 6: even close?
- 1:28:28Speaker 10: They look up Bill from their four yard line. Three
- 1:28:31Speaker 10: into the ride in gloding kasiki inside and board throwing
- 1:28:34Speaker 10: on the outside market of the love. Jones is in
- 1:28:37Speaker 10: the pen zone. He'll be inside by Crosby. He grew
- 1:28:40Speaker 10: him from the left side of the defense and up
- 1:28:42Speaker 10: the middle of below. Mickels collaborates for the Raiders.
- 1:28:45Speaker 21: It's a safety, pure offense ineptitude, and it started with
- 1:28:52Speaker 21: the first play of the drive. Blue angle routed up
- 1:28:55Speaker 21: back to get you four yards and then you hurry
- 1:28:59Speaker 21: up call run which is located because you had a
- 1:29:03Speaker 21: holy call on a panic call. It's a two minut
- 1:29:05Speaker 21: a warning who's approaching and didn't go backwards.
- 1:29:09Speaker 6: You have to lay a game. You got a hell
- 1:29:10Speaker 6: of a throat of Parker. He has a dropped.
- 1:29:13Speaker 21: It's a multitude of airs all across the board, fly quarterback, receivers, backs,
- 1:29:19Speaker 21: coaching period.
- 1:29:21Speaker 6: I'm done.
- 1:29:24Speaker 10: The Raiders for the first time this season, six weeks
- 1:29:28Speaker 10: in a clutch twenty points. They do it with a safety.
- 1:29:32Speaker 10: Carlson went for field goals. The Pagers remember with an
- 1:29:35Speaker 10: early interception driving deep into Las Vegas territory, unabled the
- 1:29:40Speaker 10: mount of comback in the player one more time to
- 1:29:44Speaker 10: the knee and then He slaps hands with Jabrill Peppers
- 1:29:48Speaker 10: and the Raiders have improved to five hundred. These two
- 1:29:52Speaker 10: teams intersecting against similar paths to get here, Struggling offenses,
- 1:29:57Speaker 10: turnover playing offenses, and as much of a slog as
- 1:30:02Speaker 10: it is. Again, the waiters are at the break even point,
- 1:30:04Speaker 10: three up and three down. All the Patriots have plumber
- 1:30:08Speaker 10: to one hand and five with Miami on the horizon.
- 1:30:12Speaker 21: Same questions are gonna continue, What changes are gonna make,
- 1:30:16Speaker 21: What division's gonna be within that lock row?
- 1:30:17Speaker 6: Defense?
- 1:30:18Speaker 10: Hanging in there?
- 1:30:19Speaker 6: Offense can't movie.
- 1:30:21Speaker 10: The guy that gets the biggest extension in the offseason has.
- 1:30:23Speaker 6: The drop drop right there at the end of the
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: game to give you no chance.
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: Rich Stone, the official tire of the New England Patriots,

- 1:30:41Speaker 1: location near you. All right back, Fred's finished with his lunch,
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: So Deuce Tamara, Yeah, Evan, Paul, myself, Matt and the booth.
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: Matt's hurting though always hurting. Why he's got a broken tooth?
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: He is hurt broken tooth met. How do you break
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: your tooth?
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: Jaw breaker?
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: Oh my god, he is like Pale. I told him
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: go to the urgent. Cameral gets you know, Chris Rara
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: down here, and he's.
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: Like going to cover the show.
- 1:31:10Speaker 6: Torow.
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: I thought you meant Chris Fra to fix it.
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: He's too tough to shine.
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: At least I got him to smile.
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: You got a Dennis appointment on the books or something
- 1:31:22Speaker 4: like tomorrow, all right after.
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: I respect the hustle. Matt. You know, nothing stops this train.
- 1:31:30Speaker 4: You were sick last week?
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: Eight five five pasts five hundred. Is the ace taken hotline?
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: Let's go back to the phones. Emerys in Kansas. What's up? Emory?
- 1:31:40Speaker 15: Hey, how are you doing that? Thank you? Thank you
- 1:31:43Speaker 15: for the opportunity of course.
- 1:31:45Speaker 10: What what?
- 1:31:46Speaker 12: What?
- 1:31:46Speaker 15: What is your response in regards to playing the young
- 1:31:50Speaker 15: folks Bunton, Douglas and Boute with Born instead of barking
- 1:31:55Speaker 15: juju for the remainder of the season, they were just.
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: Talking about it and just literally said before we came,
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: I cannot, for the life of me understand how you
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: do anything else besides play the young guys at receiver
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: and hope that it works, especially given the fact that
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: your two most explosive guys all year long have been
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: Pop Douglas and Kendrick Bourne. So I like, what, what's
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: I I have no more time for Devonte Parker and
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: Jiju on this team.
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: None.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: I don't understand why they keep playing DeVante Parker. He's
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: done nothing all year. He did he had what thirty
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: one catches last year. It's not like he did did
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: anything great last year either. I think his efforts stinks.
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: I think his attitude stinks. I would get him off.
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: I'm with the guys. I'm with you. I would go
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: Douglas with born In uh In.
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: I mean like I should like Taekwon is not much
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: like Taekwon is not much better.
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: But here's what I can't have happened. I can't be
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: on this show in March with people saying, well, he
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: was hurt the first two years, I didn't get a
- 1:32:57Speaker 4: chance to see. I need to definitively know in March.
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: Yeah, the first the third third down of the game,
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: I think Mac was sacked right, and they're running like
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: a vertical on the sideline, and and Kendrick Bourne is
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: running an out from the slot and Taekwon mister four
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: two eight, Like just takes four years off my life
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: running the damn route, like and he all he's gotta do.
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: He's got to clear out the sideline because the outside
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: corner is sitting on Kendrick Bourne's route and like his den,
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: he's got furiating, like run the damn route, dude, Like
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: you're you're you have four two eight speed. You are
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: the fastest guy on the on the goddamn field.
- 1:33:42Speaker 5: And he's just do And I mean, what about the
- 1:33:46Speaker 5: Parker Parker where he was kind of like got to
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: the top of it, had a glass of water and
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: then like turns.
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: So that was that was so bad that Romo got
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: it live. Yeah, It's like I'm not sure what Parker
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: did on this route. He just hesitates.
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: Yeah. I just like the throw to Bourne, like Bouren
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: runs the route well and gets open on the route,
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: but Mac has to hold the ball because the outside
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: corner is not respecting Taekwon's route. So he's just gonna
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: jump it. If he throws the out, he's just gonna
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: jump it. And the whole idea is to put Taekwon
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: in that spot to have him clear out the coverage,
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: like run down the field as fast as you can,
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: and like, because he knows he's not getting the ball,
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: because he knows he's clearing out and he's not, he
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: just kind of is jogging on the route and I'm
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: and it's just like these are the types of things
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: that happen with this team routinely with their receivers. Just
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: their receivers do not run good routes. They don't run
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: the route hard if they're not first reading the progression.
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: They don't run detailed routes. Their routes are rounded off
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: at the top of the route all the time. And
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: I just makes me want to explode, like Troy Brown,
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: what are you doing? Like what are you doing? Like
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: how do you if you're Troy Brown? And I was
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: told I'll put Bill O'Brien in this too, Like I
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: was told that Bill O'Brien was gonna come in and
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: and not stand for the nonsense, right, Like, Okay, you
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: don't want to run the route hard, you can go
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: sit on the bench, like I that's what I thought.
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: We were told, you know, Teapot was coming in and
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: he was gonna gonna make sure that this stuff got
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: cleaned up.
- 1:35:12Speaker 4: And they broke pot.
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: They do it so often that their routes are just horrible,
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: and then watching Kendrick Bourne actually run like eight or
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: nine really good routes in this game was like it
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: was like I had never seen it before. I was like,
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: oh my god, this is incredible.
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: That's how it's supposed to look. All right, thanks, Emery,
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:35:33Speaker 4: But he's it was like he was listening to the
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: the portion when Fred was eating his lunch, because that's
- 1:35:40Speaker 4: exactly what whatever. You didn't catch it the first time,
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: so I had to repeat chicken fingers, But that's exactly
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: what Evan had literally just said, like they need to
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: play Douglas and Thornton with Bourne, right and see just
- 1:35:50Speaker 4: see how it looks.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: Patty's an agaa, what's up? Patty? Patty?
- 1:35:58Speaker 6: Oh?
- 1:35:59Speaker 10: Oh, who is it?
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: Says Patty.
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: But Todd, Wow, the only thing that broke it's the
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: it's the hook, Matt Hurt. It's a sin. No, it's
- 1:36:13Speaker 4: a sin.
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: What's up? What's up?
- 1:36:15Speaker 15: My question is very simple.
- 1:36:18Speaker 22: Do you think that there's some way that we could
- 1:36:21Speaker 22: get somebody sorry I'm barbecuing, to actually come in with
- 1:36:26Speaker 22: Bill still here and redo the offense in a proper style,
- 1:36:30Speaker 22: like some young guy that's gonna say, Okay, this offense
- 1:36:33Speaker 22: is mind Bill, let's do it this way. You're still
- 1:36:35Speaker 22: the coach, you're still the GM, but let's just work
- 1:36:37Speaker 22: together and get this done. Or does the whole thing
- 1:36:39Speaker 22: just have to be blown up?
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: Yeah, well I think that's what they tried to do
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: with O'Brien.
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: Let let me ask you this thanks to and I
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: guess we won't ask him.
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: Oh, you're gonna just say it.
- 1:36:51Speaker 4: But if you are, like, let's just say Evan Lazare
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: is the next hot shot offensive coordinator like Matt Joss. Okay,
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: hot shot, you want that. No, I'm gonna go in
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: and I'm gonna go and have the The offense is yours.
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: Bill Belichick is the coach. Oh okay, all right, so.
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: I can't spend more than twelve million dollars.
- 1:37:14Speaker 4: But even if you but even if you were told
- 1:37:16Speaker 4: you had free rein, it's still Bill Belichick's team, and
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: you don't have free reign because if he doesn't like something,
- 1:37:24Speaker 4: he's gonna change it. Because he's won six titles. He's
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: the greatest coach who's ever done it. I just don't
- 1:37:30Speaker 4: think it's a great place for a young up and
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: coming offensive mind to try to cut his teeth.
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: Maybe somewhere else, like you know, like if if Bill
- 1:37:39Speaker 5: could come into another team where it isn't like all
- 1:37:42Speaker 5: because the system is all his too, you know, like
- 1:37:44Speaker 5: there's just so much.
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: I talked about the last week. Well, but no, I
- 1:37:48Speaker 4: mean I mean when I say system, I mean I
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: know the whole program. I know every I know exactly
- 1:37:53Speaker 4: what you mean. And that's why I'm gonna know.
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I think there's more of a chance of him
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: going to another place without full power are then staying
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: here and have power taken away.
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's a non starter. I think it's
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: a non starter for him. I think it's not in
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: the best interest of the team and moving forward. And
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: you know, when a team has to move forward, like
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: you just you have to put those things behind. It's
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: like people who are still sticky situations still talk to
- 1:38:17Speaker 5: ex girlfriends or ex boyfriends, you know, And I'm like, no,
- 1:38:19Speaker 5: you can't talk to your exes like you have to.
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: It's a bad idea.
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: I like that ball that seemed like that came from
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: a like experience or something.
- 1:38:29Speaker 9: I'm I'm a heavy deep and delete.
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: Yeah existed, move on, Move on, but I thought we
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: could still be no.
- 1:38:38Speaker 4: No, no, whatever.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: Interesting, It's fine, Jeffrey in Canada. I see five possible scenarios.
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: I'd like to get each host vote which is most
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: likely and.
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: Which this is a todd question, and which.
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: Would consider to be the best scenario. For context, Let's
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: say the team plays out the same. It goes four
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: and thirteen, four and thirteen on the right, and the
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: fourth pick.
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: In the draft one like the fourth pick in the draft.
- 1:39:05Speaker 4: Oh oh, they're all contingent on going four to thirteen
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: With the fourth pick.
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: They have the exactly the fourth pick in the draft.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: Okay, so Bill is fired on October thirtieth. Bill is
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: fired last day of the season. Bill is stripped of
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: his roster decisions, but remains coach two more. At some
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: point between now and the season ends. An announcement that
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: Bill is retiring after the season could be the Brady
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: type retirement and five to nothing. Bill has full control
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four and beyond.
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: Oh there's the one you're missing. I feel like the
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: one that he coaches out the string and then a
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: few weeks after the season ends, it's mutually way that
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: we're going to mutually part ways that the new pages
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: can I say, like that's a variation of the Teddy
- 1:39:47Speaker 4: Bruski Like, that's why I hope happens.
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I There's no way. And I think
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: Schefter said this, I think it was his opinion.
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: But Black Monday, Yeah, there's no way.
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: Black Monday is happening to Bill Belichick.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: And none of us know what Bill's contract actually is.
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: That's the problem.
- 1:40:03Speaker 10: We don't know.
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: For all we know, this is the last year it
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: could have. We don't know, We have no idea. But
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: let's assume that there's more years left. Right, So if
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: Bill walks away slash retires, he's walking away from a
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: lot of money. So in order for him to do that,
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: the crafts need to agree we're going to pay you
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: at least a portion of what you would be owed
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: for the remainder of your car. That's the only way
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: that it would happen. Well if if, And again we
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: don't even know how much is getting paid. But let's
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: say it is twenty five million, because that's what your
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: show says it is.
- 1:40:35Speaker 4: It's a round number.
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: Yeah, So if he walks away and he has two,
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: he's walking away from fifty million dollars if he has
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: two years left, so he's gonna have to get some
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: of that, so walk away.
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: So why would he do that right in the end,
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: because it's he's miserable. No no, no, no exactly Like
- 1:40:50Speaker 4: but like when people would say, well, why would the
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: craft pay him so they don't have to have the
- 1:40:55Speaker 4: stain exactly, you fire the greatest coach has ever done.
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: And plus I don't think that they want it to
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: end on bad terms.
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: I think, well, it's going to be bad terms. It's
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: hard to like you do that. It's still bad terms,
- 1:41:10Speaker 4: but at least publicly, it doesn't look as bad as
- 1:41:13Speaker 4: it might. No, either both ways and by the way,
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: both ways, and it.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: Wouldn't be as bad as terms if you just fired him.
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: I like, at least this way, like listen, we're gonna
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: pay you, but we both know, yeah, it's not working.
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: I think retirement feels like the easiest way to make it,
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: at least publicly, so that it's not ugly because you can't.
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: They're they're either going to part ways or he's going
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: to retire. They're not going to be like we were
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: relieved Bill Belichick if his coaching duties like other teams
- 1:41:43Speaker 3: do on.
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: Black Monday or whatever. Yeah, I mean I don't know
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: about that. It won't be on Black Monday. I think
- 1:41:48Speaker 4: I agree with you guys on that. But did you
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: you guys were in Vegas, did you catch the Teddy Bruski? Yes,
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: a little bit impassioned. I thought that was telling. That
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: was really tough. Guys like Edelman Kruski.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: I mean, those guys come, I don't say coming out
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: of the woodwork. There, they've been out front center.
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: But Gronk, Philippe and Rio de Janeiro in Defensive Bill.
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: He says Bill should not be fired after the season.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: While the last three seasons were underwhelming for the twenty
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: year long standard in place, they were just average under
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: NFL standards. This is the first really bad season of
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: the Patriots, and Bill earned enough credit to survive it.
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: In my opinion, we have a solid, although not great
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: defense after major departners high Tower, mccordy, Gilmore, Harmon, et cetera, Harmon,
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: and there are solid receivers to believe that high enough kick,
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: high enough picks, and plenty of cap space suffice to
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: fix the office. Sam on a big picture note, how
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: the organization and its manager management would look after cutting
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: ties with both Brady and Bill. If Bill goes elsewhere,
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: charges Cowboys and wins another Super Bowl. We should not
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: take this decision lightly, and the little eulogies that have
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: been prefacing the calls for Bill's jobs seem like mere
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: lip service. I was a first minute critic of the
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: Juju Jacobe swap, and I do not and I do
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: agree with most of the criticism of relation to personnel decisions. However,
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: just as it was the case with Brady, I do
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: not see an option out there that is a surefire
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: fix to fix our current problem.
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: Who's is who? What was the emailer's name, Felip Philip,
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: So I at least appreciate that, like somebody is arguing
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: the other side, like more lately on.
- 1:43:26Speaker 4: The s PFWS two, which I was a little surprised
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: at go ahead of saying.
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: Well because that was that was like a good way
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: to lay out the other side. I felt like it
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: was a good email like that, and that doesn't I
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: don't say that.
- 1:43:37Speaker 4: You almost never knew, which is why I apologize for
- 1:43:39Speaker 4: interrupting your flow.
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: I just uh, I had you know, there's been such
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: a strong myself included like anti Belichick rhetoric right now,
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: and it's refreshing to hear like the other side of it.
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: I don't agree, but I I it's at least nice
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: to hear the other side.
- 1:43:55Speaker 5: My counter would just be that there's been too many
- 1:43:58Speaker 5: threads coming to this season that have connected back to
- 1:44:00Speaker 5: previous seasons and it's not that this is a standalone
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: and oh my, and all these problems just popped up, Like,
- 1:44:05Speaker 5: I don't think this season is very much removed from
- 1:44:07Speaker 5: last year's the disaster season, other than.
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: You know, a couple of little minor tweaks. And I
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: would just say, if you were watching the games every
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: week and honestly evaluating what you've seen all four years,
- 1:44:21Speaker 4: three years plus six games, yeah the record is better
- 1:44:26Speaker 4: than the team, and the record's not good. Yeah they're
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: closer to worse than that than better than that. And
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: I know that you can confuse yourself and convince yourself
- 1:44:37Speaker 4: that when they were down twenty two to nothing to
- 1:44:39Speaker 4: the Bengals, they really wasn't that bad of a loss
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: because they had a chance, they had a chance to
- 1:44:44Speaker 4: steal some games they had no business being in to
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: nothing to do with coaching, because the game plan of
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: the week got you in that hole to begin with,
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: and you circumstantially snuck into a couple of games here
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: and there. This is the sobering thought. So it's twenty twenty,
- 1:45:05Speaker 4: twenty one, twenty two, and now twenty three, you're seven
- 1:45:10Speaker 4: and oh against the New York Jets. Give me the
- 1:45:15Speaker 4: record against everybody else, he can beat the Jets.
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: Yeah, along those lines, Zach Wilson.
- 1:45:23Speaker 5: Not to keep the Belichick turning going, but you know
- 1:45:26Speaker 5: the nine more losses for the most losses all time,
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: Bill Belichick, he's nine losses away right now.
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I actually think that that's okay, that's a point
- 1:45:33Speaker 4: in his face. No, that's fine. The best coaches of
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: all time are in the top ten.
- 1:45:37Speaker 5: Y and not the reason I brought up to be
- 1:45:40Speaker 5: like he sings. But do you think it's possible that
- 1:45:43Speaker 5: it happens.
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: He's gonna get He's going to get the loss record
- 1:45:46Speaker 4: before he gets the wins record, that's right. But do
- 1:45:48Speaker 4: you think he gets it this year against the Jets?
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: You know who he's just passed, and the losses record.
- 1:45:52Speaker 5: I know he's looking up at Dan Raean Reeves, right, No, yeah,
- 1:45:57Speaker 5: I mean it's a lunchey that is number one on
- 1:45:59Speaker 5: the list. I didn't want it to bring it on negative,
- 1:46:01Speaker 5: but I just thought, but it's Dan Reeves, like Jeff
- 1:46:04Speaker 5: Fisher above him.
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: Yeah, so Jeff Fisher total Jeff Jeff Fisher's an outlier
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: because he's not a great coach.
- 1:46:10Speaker 10: But then you have like Andy.
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: Reid Landry behind it all.
- 1:46:14Speaker 5: Yeah, right, well, right now he's only behind Landry and
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: the total amount of wins, and then in in just
- 1:46:19Speaker 5: regular season he's behind. So Dan Reeves is one ninety
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: one sixty five and two shout out Aeron. Jeff Fisher's
- 1:46:25Speaker 5: won seventy three, one sixty five and one. Belichicks two
- 1:46:27Speaker 5: ninety nine, and so he's got over one hundred more
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: wins than those guys, right, And that's why.
- 1:46:32Speaker 4: But the point of bringing it.
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: Up is, is it possible that he loses to the
- 1:46:37Speaker 5: Jets here in the season finale and that's when he
- 1:46:39Speaker 5: gets it, like he needs nine more, so he'd have
- 1:46:42Speaker 5: to finish three and fourteen this year.
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: I don't see three wins, Mike. I'm just you got
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: three more wins. You got to guess you gotta get
- 1:46:49Speaker 4: three more.
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: I still see you.
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: I still see. Yeah, because I still see Washington, Indy.
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: They'll win one of those.
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: I think Washington's better than you think.
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: No, I think they'll win one of them. I didn't
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: say both. I'm not one of these knuckleheads that looking
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: at the soft part of the schedule. I think they'll
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: split some of these.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: We are other team soft part of the schedule. Unfortunately,
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: I hate saying that, but it's the truth.
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: I just I'm really looking at that last Jets game
- 1:47:11Speaker 5: right now though, and just wondering what's it going to
- 1:47:13Speaker 5: mean for the Jets.
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: What's it going to mean for It's possible that the
- 1:47:16Speaker 4: Jets could be knocking on the door for a plenty
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: b Aaron Rodgers and he comes back, who evident he's
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: just decided I didn't really turn my achilles. I'm coming back.
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: But to do his point like about the this is
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: not like a one season one off with this team
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: has like slowly gone like this like and it might
- 1:47:37Speaker 3: you know, he was able to hold on to it.
- 1:47:38Speaker 4: Convince yourself they went ten and seven and twenty one
- 1:47:41Speaker 4: because they were a ten win team. Yeah, but then
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: when you watch and you really break down the games
- 1:47:45Speaker 4: that they want people are doing it now and they're
- 1:47:48Speaker 4: looking back and they're saying they're like three and eleven,
- 1:47:51Speaker 4: they last fourteen something like that, and all three wins
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: were against the back of quarterbacks. Yeah, but they didn't
- 1:47:55Speaker 4: do it in twenty one because they won ten games
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: with a rookie quarterback. They did it the same way.
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: Not in Santa Cruz. I feel for Bill. I know
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: he's made a mess of the team as a GM,
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: and I don't excuse him for that. But Bill has
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: always said he wanted to leave the team better off
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: than when he came. The twenty twenty four Patriots have
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: no chance to be better than the team he joined
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: way back when. I bet that's killing Bill.
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: I disagree.
- 1:48:20Speaker 4: I disagree. Now what does he care the two thousand
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: Patriots with this?
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: Yehage, there's no difference bar Yeah. My question is do
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: you think that sentiment will allow him to be a
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: big seller at the deadline trying to leave this team
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: and the best place moving forward. I know he'll never tank,
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: but will he prioritize the future he won't be part of.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: Will he prioritize the future he won't be part of?
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: Now that the games have no championship seeking value as
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: always a huge fan of the show, and it's all
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: it's on air talent.
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:48:51Speaker 4: Yeah, the two thousand Patriots. Now Bill opted to do
- 1:48:55Speaker 4: it this way. They stripped it down. They got rid
- 1:48:58Speaker 4: of like because they weren't a bad team that he inherited.
- 1:49:01Speaker 4: Technically it was a five hundred team that he inherited,
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: but they had some bad contracts. They had some veterans
- 1:49:06Speaker 4: that were sort of passed their prime in that guy,
- 1:49:09Speaker 4: and he moved on, dropped the anchor. I think was right.
- 1:49:12Speaker 4: He moved on from some of those guys. But that
- 1:49:14Speaker 4: that team, Fred, I don't know if you remember this,
- 1:49:16Speaker 4: they opened the season with fifty one guys because quote,
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: he didn't have fifty three NFL players.
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: That's he said that.
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: That's a quote from Bill. He said that, Now eventually
- 1:49:26Speaker 4: obviously they had to sign guys. I know they technical,
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: you know, but when they originally cut the roster, he
- 1:49:32Speaker 4: felt like they didn't have fifty It's.
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: Just like crazy that, you know, to that point, like
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: he was doing this like ridiculous stuff even before he
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: had the resume, which like if I'm not going to
- 1:49:43Speaker 3: give you the book, if you want it, we have
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: a lot of imagine if like Ben Johnson inherits this
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: team and he comes in on cutdown, Dan is like
- 1:49:51Speaker 3: we only kept fifty one, all of us would be like.
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: What about.
- 1:49:58Speaker 4: He's like, he didn't come to my son play.
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: You're out, Tom and Taunt in England. As a fan
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: who has never experienced the Patriots absolutely sucking up until now,
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: I wanted to say thank you to all I'm jealous
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: as Patriot's unfiltered for making the experience a fun one.
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: Whether it's Deuce's slow descent into darkness and negativity, Paul's
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: refusal to be refusal to be bothered by the team's
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: performance in any way, or evans weekly mental breakdowns, it's
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: always great and entertaining. Listen, I thank you for all
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: of us, all of you reminding us not to take
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: things too seriously.
- 1:50:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm jealous of that, Like I've never eaten like
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: him saying I've never experienced that. Like I'm jealous of that.
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: I can't wait to hear your thoughts on how Bill
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: will use his well earned top five draft pick in
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. Given the special team's performance over the
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: past two years, I think a versatile due it special
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: teamer with a scrappy attitude is what's missing to get
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: the team back on track.
- 1:50:53Speaker 5: Ridiculous.
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: What do you think would be more likely for Bill
- 1:50:56Speaker 4: to pick like JJ McCarthy over Caleb Williams or Drake
- 1:51:01Speaker 4: may or the interior tech or some rando wide received
- 1:51:06Speaker 4: rover Marvin Harrison that no wide.
- 1:51:10Speaker 5: Receive quarterback on Wlayne mcconku, I think it's the quarterback
- 1:51:14Speaker 5: one because he's like, no, he's got to play our way.
- 1:51:17Speaker 4: We don't want something.
- 1:51:17Speaker 8: J J.
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: McCarthy just sort of screams, oh yeah, Patriots, oh yeah,
- 1:51:21Speaker 4: oh yeah. I think he is talented.
- 1:51:24Speaker 9: The memes are out there.
- 1:51:25Speaker 4: He's not as talented as those tops. I think J. J.
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: McCarthy is is like every college quarterback that's been on
- 1:51:32Speaker 3: a loaded roster, like Stetson Bennett. JJ McCarthy like Jones, I.
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: Kind of agree, but I think he's a better I
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: think he has a better r But yes, Mac Johnes,
- 1:51:41Speaker 4: that would be in that Jones. I know you, I
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: know you've quit on Mac, but she's right. Matt Jones
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: would be an example of that. Now I disagree with that,
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: what's the disagree with?
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: He was much better quarterback than than JJ McCarthy.
- 1:51:54Speaker 4: And I think he was a product of a stacked roster.
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: He was a much much better quarterback. Like if you
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: just like lot like the film and of the decision
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: made the film.
- 1:52:04Speaker 4: The games.
- 1:52:06Speaker 3: That effective, it'd be the same thing.
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: Keith and New River Gorge, West Virginia. The pitchforks are
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: definitely out for Belichick.
- 1:52:14Speaker 10: It is what it is.
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: Bill created this situation, and he's equally responsible for his
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: long storied animosity with the media. But folks like Hardy
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: and Florio just seemed determined for Belichick to leave in disgrace.
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: The attacks for him to be fired now seemed personal.
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: I can't think of anything that will be gained from
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: firing a future Hall of Fame coach mid season. But
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: it got me thinking about how Parcels used to handle
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: the media. Imagine Parcels never left and had all the
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: same success as Belichick. Would he be coming under the
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: same media fire.
- 1:52:44Speaker 4: Yes, I don't think so. If he had loved him,
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: they did, But if they had the drafts that they
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: had the last four years, people would want him out.
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: They'd say the game has passed him by, baby.
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: But I don't think it'd be as his point is
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: wouldn't be as personal.
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: I don't know about Florio because I don't know Mike Florio.
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: It's not personal with hard I can promise you that.
- 1:53:02Speaker 3: I mean, Hardy is like not even really here, Like
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: so what would on the radio? I know, but like
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: what would it be like? It's not like he has
- 1:53:09Speaker 3: to interact with Bill on a daily I just know, like.
- 1:53:11Speaker 4: Mike and I can tell you we've talked to him, Like,
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: it's not it's nothing to do with personal and what
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: and what what is there to be gained if they
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: did it during the season. I don't I wouldn't do
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: it during the season. But there is something that if
- 1:53:24Speaker 4: Robert krap decided he needed to do, and that is
- 1:53:26Speaker 4: that he is tinkering with the future right if he is,
- 1:53:30Speaker 4: you know, impacting you know, another couple of extensions for
- 1:53:34Speaker 4: DeVante Parker esque players that would be a bridge too
- 1:53:37Speaker 4: far from me. I would say, I need to get
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: him out because he's gonna I'm gonna get rid.
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: Of him at the end of the year, buying at
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: the deadline. So yeah, I agree with that, and I
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: would I also actually think that there's some value and
- 1:53:48Speaker 3: and maybe giving Gerad an interim tag and like seeing
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: how it looks with his value. I mean, it's like
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: a little trial run for him, like an eight game trial,
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: especially for a guy that, you know, what does he
- 1:54:00Speaker 3: really do around here is kind of a little bit
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: of him. I'm sure mister Kraft knows, but you know,
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: it's like a little bit of a mystery. So I
- 1:54:07Speaker 3: agree with your bigger point. That's the biggest point is
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: that Bill is that's and that's a big if.
- 1:54:12Speaker 4: Like if you felt like he was doing things that
- 1:54:14Speaker 4: weren't necessarily in the best interest of the team moving forward,
- 1:54:17Speaker 4: that's something to be gained by doing it during the
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: season rather than after. And I would just say, you know,
- 1:54:22Speaker 4: I can't speak for everybody but the email and we've
- 1:54:25Speaker 4: gotten a lot of this, Okay. The way he's treated
- 1:54:28Speaker 4: the media for twenty five years is why I can
- 1:54:32Speaker 4: tell you ninety nine percent of people who have covered
- 1:54:36Speaker 4: this team, they're not like licking their chops to get
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: a chance to get back at them. I'm not telling
- 1:54:42Speaker 4: you there's none. There are people that that feel like that,
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: but I can tell you the Mike ess of the
- 1:54:46Speaker 4: Tom Curins and the Phil Perrys of the world are
- 1:54:49Speaker 4: not sitting there relishing this opportunity to get back at
- 1:54:53Speaker 4: Bill because he was mean to them over the years.
- 1:54:56Speaker 4: Some people, I'm sure are especially nationally because they hate
- 1:55:00Speaker 4: the Patriots.
- 1:55:01Speaker 5: I feel like those guys who have witnessed the whole
- 1:55:03Speaker 5: thing are just more interested in trying to find out
- 1:55:06Speaker 5: why why has that fallen apart like this, and that's
- 1:55:08Speaker 5: what they're usually trying to get at.
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: Like, I don't think that there's a lot of people
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: like shoes on the other foot, Now, Bill, you gotta go.
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: I don't think that. I don't know, you guys can
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: disagree with me. I don't feel like that's been like
- 1:55:20Speaker 4: a prevailing attitude among the media.
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:55:23Speaker 8: I feel like they just want like realistic answers to
- 1:55:26Speaker 8: the questions on what does it mean to start over?
- 1:55:29Speaker 8: What's happening? Why is everything falling apart? Why is this
- 1:55:32Speaker 8: team playing uncharacteristically, like actually getting real responses to very
- 1:55:36Speaker 8: real questions that we all have answers to.
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: No, I think, unfortunately, I think the answer is if
- 1:55:41Speaker 3: he knew he would fix.
- 1:55:42Speaker 4: It, I couldn't. He could have been more refreshingly honest
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: on that question.
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: Monday with Tom, like if you if you asked him, like, Bill,
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: you know, why do you guys start slow? Yeah, like
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: do you think that they they obviously they don't want
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: to start slow. So like if he knew, that's like
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: that was the time that question yesterday, and that was
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: just he might have wish.
- 1:56:01Speaker 4: I wish I had a great answer for that. Yeah,
- 1:56:03Speaker 4: he didn't know.
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: Andrew In l a overly negative Mike chiming in with
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: we have fifty three players now under.
- 1:56:09Speaker 4: His breath, but you he's so dark. Yeah, he really
- 1:56:13Speaker 4: is all watching bad football.
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: Wait, Matt cracked his tooth on a draw breaker and
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: they're working. We need that kind of heart o commitment
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: on the team. Let's get Marine on the field and
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: a clipboard in Evan's hands. Mike could be a good cheerleader.
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: Let's have Fred as the new owner and with Paula's GM,
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: we'll have a terrible team filled with good people.
- 1:56:32Speaker 4: Yes, that would be my team, I mean terrible players.
- 1:56:36Speaker 4: He knows a good guys, he knows my bag of
- 1:56:37Speaker 4: tricks on the cheerleader front. I guess yeah, I think
- 1:56:39Speaker 4: that's what he was who was getting at. You did
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: it for the camera too, Come with me? You know
- 1:56:43Speaker 4: that's my favorite move.
- 1:56:46Speaker 5: They're walking away, the cheerleaders walking away, they look back
- 1:56:48Speaker 5: and they say, come with me, you know, like, that's
- 1:56:50Speaker 5: that's my move.
- 1:56:52Speaker 4: He's insane. You hired this guy, like, hey, it's fun.
- 1:56:56Speaker 4: We got to find some fun here. Fortunately I had
- 1:56:58Speaker 4: a big say in that.
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: All right, well, listen, I have a meeting. I know
