- 0:00SPEAKER_02: We want to change the narrative in Bitcoin.
- 0:03SPEAKER_02: That this is about every one of us.
- 0:05SPEAKER_02: And that's kind of like so this motto that we've kind of been trying to instill in our town is a coddle and spend, right?
- 0:13SPEAKER_02: So you hear in Bitcoin all the time, like never sell your Bitcoin, never blah blah blah.
- 0:18SPEAKER_02: And those sentiments are true because if you want to build generational wealth, you should prepare in Bitcoin.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:25SPEAKER_02: But the second part of that is you need to spend Bitcoin if it's actually going to be the money we use.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: If you don't use it like what Jeff put said, like it's got to be used.
- 0:43SPEAKER_02: And we need an incentive to do it.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: So our motto is it's like, hey, yes, don't touch your back.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: It should grow anything, right?
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: But when you go and spend, you can actually make an intentional transfer of energy.
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: You can take energy from the broken system that has been corrupted after and put it into the one that's honest benefits the community, benefits your family.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: And so instead of us spending and then replacing our Bitcoin, we just don't spend this Bitcoin.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: And then if I'm going to pay for copy, I'm intentionally taking energy from fiat, putting it into Bitcoin, and then I'm spending it exactly.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: And what we want the ethos to be is you, me, every one of us, can tangibly move the needle towards a world, one purchase at a time, one transaction.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: It's like we finally have a tool that we can make a difference.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: And if you take care of your corner of the world and you take care of ours, and each Bitcoin or all the pledge unite, that's how we take over the world, right?
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Bitcoin price is sitting at 63,400.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Uh, they're coming from us from the beautiful mountains of Buena Vista, Colorado.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: They're parents of seven entrepreneurs, homeschoolers, coaches, and they're helping turn their small town into a real-world Bitcoin circular economy through their Bitcoin treasure hunt.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Uh, we're always talking about uh orange-pilling people and they're orange-pilling towns.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Um, I am so excited to hear this.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: So we'll go ahead and jump right in and welcome guys to the show.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we appreciate you done here.
- 2:40SPEAKER_03: It's an honor to be here.
- 2:41SPEAKER_03: We appreciate it.
- 2:42SPEAKER_03: Let's go.
- 2:43SPEAKER_03: We're so happy and I'm so I have so many awesome ideas and questions going through my mind.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: But take us back a little bit.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: You know, how did you guys get introduced to Bitcoin?
- 2:52SPEAKER_03: Who was orange pilling who?
- 2:54SPEAKER_03: You know, how did that all kind of come about?
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: Do you want me to go back here?
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: So um it was back in 2020 and you know, so middle of COVID.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: I personally was just on a real heart journey of like just digging deeper, getting real with myself.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: So I was listening to like a lot of Jordan Peterson podcasts, all that.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: And um Robert Breedlove and Gigi and those guys had that podcast with um Jordan Peterson, and that just really pricked my interest.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: So I ended up getting hooked on the What is Money podcast, you know, listening to the Sailor series, and I tend to obsess a little bit on things, but um one of the things I'm really after is just like I want the truth, right?
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: Like I just I want to know like what's real, what's true, and that just brought me down the rabbit hole.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: So, you know, I'd be listening to these podcasts, working.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm a painter.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: I I've got a painting business, is one of the things.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: So at that time I was doing a lot of the painting myself and having lots of hours to listen to podcasts.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: So I'd like listen to this stuff, get my mind blown, and then come back and just throw up on Burke Black.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: That's true.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: All this and this.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: She's like, Yeah, yeah, it's great.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: You know, you know, she's listening and um so we're not the only ones with this story.
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: You know, she's being secondhand, so but it's it was just a really consistent journey over the next kind of year and a half to two years, and um and then she would just keep asking questions, keep digging into that, and yeah, being a great spouse, being just a great partner, and and through that, I think we really started to connect and have really deep conversations.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: And so um, I guess I orange pilled her technically.
- 4:42SPEAKER_04: He wins.
- 4:43SPEAKER_04: So yeah.
- 4:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:46SPEAKER_04: And um it was just um for me kind of coming at all this information, thinking like, okay, well, it's great in theory, it's great in ideas.
- 4:57SPEAKER_04: Um, and my like my journey is huge into faith and intuition.
- 5:03SPEAKER_04: And so I took this back and brought it to my quiet times and then came back and was like, okay, I'm in, I'm in fully, I'm with you, let's go for it.
- 5:14SPEAKER_04: And then all the information just started like making sense and and not just sense, but it was like, this is revolutionary, you know, all the all the orange pill aha moments start going and then off we go.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: The rest is history.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: That's amazing.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: And then and Brooke, when he was first like throwing up on you, like were you like, dude, this guy's like really like too much, or like, are you or was there like trust?
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, I trust you, but like this is kind of too much, or like uh what walk us through that.
- 5:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: I mean, I think you know, we've been married for 17 years, so it wasn't new, you know, when he was excited about something.
- 5:55SPEAKER_04: I love, you know, it was it was kind of coming at it with like, well, it's the normal intensity of Luke, but this is new information and a lot, you know.
- 6:04SPEAKER_04: And I think all the it's like a different language, you know.
- 6:08SPEAKER_04: We all if there's so many different things and so many different aspects.
- 6:12SPEAKER_04: Um it would be more like, all right, I hear you, and tomorrow, can you tell me the same thing again?
- 6:17SPEAKER_04: Because I didn't get it.
- 6:19SPEAKER_04: Can you can you tell me again tomorrow?
- 6:22SPEAKER_04: And so over time, you know, he's digesting information, he's a verbal processor.
- 6:27SPEAKER_04: I'm an internal processor.
- 6:29SPEAKER_04: So he processes out loud and then I take it away and then I come back.
- 6:33SPEAKER_04: So it was kind of how that went, you know, and and open, I'm open to it and always um processing and then coming back and being like, all right, I'm with you.
- 6:43SPEAKER_04: Let's do this.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: I can I can definitely relate to Brooke for sure.
- 6:49SPEAKER_03: And and I just think it's like I was in the same position as you were.
- 6:53SPEAKER_03: I was very much like, this is a lot, you know, I don't know quite what you're saying.
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: I don't really, I can't really process it right now.
- 7:01SPEAKER_03: I'm kind of in a a like newborn blur and like, you know, kid blurred, right?
- 7:06SPEAKER_03: So I'm like, okay, you know, and I'm I can hear his zest, right?
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: Like he's super excited.
- 7:12SPEAKER_03: So, and you obviously trust this person.
- 7:14SPEAKER_03: And and I'm it the same way.
- 7:16SPEAKER_03: I'm a very much of an internal processor, and I feel like I'm always just like hearing things.
- 7:21SPEAKER_03: And Anthony's probably looking at me like, Do you have anything to say?
- 7:25SPEAKER_03: You know, like he's always just like, so what do you think?
- 7:28SPEAKER_03: You know?
- 7:28SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, I don't know what I think yet.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: I had to like think about what you just said, you know?
- 7:35SPEAKER_03: So it's really funny to kind of hear that perspective for sure, because I was definitely in this, I could totally relate to you, Brooke, just how that was that process was going for you guys.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but one thing I did want to say too is um I really trust like her relationship with God and and you know the way that she operates in her faith as far as like a relationship and like really listening and and tuning in and like really interactive.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: I and that's just something I really trust.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: And what's neat about that is is that I bring a lot of like the really intense logical and like trying to see this through a technical lens, and then she's got this really great spiritual lens that I really trust that she's just has history of of really being accurate and how she listens and and what she's hearing.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: And so what's neat is to be able to have that confirmation and that that to resonate on both sides, right?
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: It it almost, in my opinion, brings just the legitimacy and really what she was hearing before, you know, fully grasping, understanding the logical was that this was so important, that this was like such a big deal from her time with God, like that meant a lot, right?
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: And so um, you know, we don't lean too heavily on one side or the other, but we really do trust the way that we operate.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: And so I think that was a really neat piece of that that that really helped.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: No, that's great.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Um, because I I think a lot of people don't understand, like when you connect, oh God and spiritual and like Bitcoin, like, well, it's truth, right?
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: And Bitcoin's truth, and it's on a system and no one can control it.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: And with our faith, we're we have our we have our faith as well.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: And every it just aligned.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: There's just a lot of values that align with it.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: And I'm not trying to say that it's like God or anything, or like no, it's just it's like it, it's consistent in what it and how it operates the network and what it's doing.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: And so I know kudos to you.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: And you know, using that as an outlet too, right?
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: Like, oh, let me connect this to my faith and let me see what you're talking about, Luke.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: And um, I think that's really unique uh when it comes to Bitcoin.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: And again, people will probably be hearing this for the first time and they're like, what are they talking about?
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Like fate in Bitcoin, like what?
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Uh congrats, by the way.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: 17 years of marriage.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: Amazing.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: That's awesome.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: Amazing.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, that's incredible.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: Two weeks after the Bitcoin blockchain started.
- 10:04SPEAKER_03: So we're the same again.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: It was fate.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: It looks to it.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: That's awesome.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Well, I am super excited to dive into this.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Um treasure hunts, orange-pilling towns, businesses, people, like please just throw up on me right now, Liv in Brooke, and just I would I want to hear this story.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: This is amazing.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, please start wherever you want.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 10:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:36SPEAKER_04: Why don't you start with like kind of the origin story of how Treasure Cunts came, how you got there?
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: So again, I think going through going down the rabbit hole, right?
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: Listening to all the podcasts and hearing the different perspectives um really resonate with like a lot of Jeff Booth's stuff.
- 11:01SPEAKER_02: Um, as he talks about, you know, how Bitcoin needs to be used as money, you know, and then seeing the progression of Bitcoin moving towards institutions, right?
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: These treasury companies, and just kind of realizing like, man, we're going on the same path of like, hey, Bitcoin can be captured, right?
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Bitcoin is not this inevitable thing, but um how do we keep it from being captured by large institutions and and just a repeat of history, right?
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: Where they control the supply and then they just keep giving us the paper and they the problem isn't solved.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: And so just really sitting with that and feeling like there's gotta be a solution.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: And I just really believe that unless people start using Bitcoin as money, um, that that it's inevitable that it will get captured.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: But at the same point, um understanding the permissionlessness of Bitcoin, like this is the tool we can just use.
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: It's a lot like I like to use the analogy of fire, right?
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: Like fire is this amazing tool.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: We can use it to cook, we can use it to send rockets into space, um, we can do complex things, but we can also do simple things.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: And um so the idea just sprung out of what what if we just take this tool and just start building it?
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: And then, you know, I think like every Bitcoiner experiences the uh the frustration of trying to tell someone this really amazing thing and they just don't care.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: And maybe they want to care like our wives do, right?
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: They want to care, but it is hard to care because you're just not there, right?
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: We and becoming aware of like and remembering like, oh, everybody's in their own world, right?
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: You're not thinking about Bitcoin, you're thinking about your kids or your job, there's all the stresses, and so for me to just presume that you care about this deep subject that took me months to even start clicking with how how am I gonna expect you to do this at a family reunion or at like in a grocery store?
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: And so just kind of getting into the psychology of things of how do we bypass all of that, right?
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: Like what drives human action?
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: Well, it's incentive.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: So then the thought process is like, well, how can I give these people an incentive to to listen?
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: Because I know what I've got to offer them is like it's life, man, it's hope, it's it's a better future, but I can't express that.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: So what it came down to was incentives.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: I can pause there, but yeah, how do we incentivize people to to listen?
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: So so for somebody kind of hearing about it for the first time, can you kind of walk us through what it looked like to kind of go through the process of this like treasure hunt?
- 14:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like it's for sure.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: So so far we've only we've done three hunts.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: And like we said at the beginning, we started this about eight months ago.
- 14:13SPEAKER_02: So so far we've got 25 businesses who have been onboarded.
- 14:17SPEAKER_04: And counting.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: And yeah, just in the last week, three more businesses have contacted us and they want to be a part of the contacting us, isn't that amazing?
- 14:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, like that's so cool.
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: And kind of we're like, wait, how did this happen too?
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, so probably between 60 and 70 people we would say have been orange pilled.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: And what I mean by that is that, you know, when Neo took the pill in the um Matrix, he didn't like know Kung Fu yet or do any of that.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: He just he was awake to what was going on around him, right?
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: And we feel like these treasure hunts are doing that where it's it's clicking because they're experiencing the concepts, right?
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: They're not just being spoken at, but they're like it's like they're touching it, right?
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: They're yeah, they're experiencing this.
- 15:09SPEAKER_02: So um, yeah, so three treasure hunts and we've seen these great results.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: And do you want to just tell them how it works, like how an actual hunt works?
- 15:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so incentives, like when people get free money, uh, when people have fun and when they hang out and it like builds community, like those kinds of things, the incentives really it it makes people want to listen more when it's fun, honestly.
- 15:37SPEAKER_04: And it's like, hey, what do you want to do Saturday?
- 15:39SPEAKER_04: Well, you know, Luke and Brooke are doing their whatever hunts, I don't know.
- 15:44SPEAKER_04: Let's find out, you know.
- 15:46SPEAKER_04: And um, so you know, these 60 plus people are typically like zero coiners, like have no context of Bitcoin.
- 15:55SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, I should figure that out.
- 15:57SPEAKER_04: Oh, it just goes over my head.
- 15:59SPEAKER_04: Oh, all the things that everyone hears, all of us Bitcoiners hear, like, oh, it's just too complicated.
- 16:04SPEAKER_04: You know, those kinds of people are the people most, most of the people that have been at our hunts.
- 16:10SPEAKER_04: And um, it comes from personal invitations.
- 16:13SPEAKER_04: And you know, a buddy told so and so, we have lots of flyers and X and Facebook and all the things, but honestly, it's so often just like your personal like, hey, do me a favor, let me help you.
- 16:28SPEAKER_04: Come just kind just show up.
- 16:30SPEAKER_04: Like, what's the worst can happen?
- 16:31SPEAKER_04: You get 10 bucks in Bitcoin and congratulations, or you win three bucks in Bitcoin, or you know.
- 16:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: So seated the first treasure hunt.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: And basically what we did was we try to create incentives on two sides.
- 16:47SPEAKER_02: So on one side, we say, Hey, come to this fun treasure hunt.
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be a fun game, and this is is focused on supporting our community local businesses.
- 16:57SPEAKER_02: We want to build community, we want to have fun.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: Everyone who shows up will get ten dollars in Bitcoin, um, and you'll use that ten dollars to go and support local businesses.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: And so what we do is everyone shows up, we give them ten dollars in Bitcoin, and then we go on a progression to these different businesses, and in order to get the next clue for the treasure hunt, you have to spend some Bitcoin in order to um unlock the next clue.
- 17:26SPEAKER_02: So they unlock these clues, and at each stop, every clue that they unlock is actually a game, and that game teaches them a concept of what money is, um, what old money looks like, and then what good money looks like.
- 17:41SPEAKER_02: And it just it's this progression that just builds this narrative of like, hey, here's what Bitcoin is, and this is where we're at.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: This is what good money looks like.
- 17:52SPEAKER_02: And throughout the whole process, we demystified it because I literally set up someone with like the wallet of Satoshi or something, in under two minutes they have ten dollars of Bitcoin.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: Okay, and now they've just spent the Bitcoin at six different places, and so all that like FUD around complex blah blah blah, this, that, and the other, it just gone because they're like, wait, Bitcoin, this is easy.
- 18:18SPEAKER_04: We just did we just paid six times, you know, and then people can they can find little coins that and turn them in like at the businesses to get more Bitcoin along the way.
- 18:28SPEAKER_04: So it starts with ten dollars and then they end up you know spending more than ten dollars.
- 18:34SPEAKER_04: Um and then these businesses are getting Bitcoin and the people are learning that it's so easy, and the businesses too, you know.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: It was, you know, at the beginning when we started our treasure hunts, um I don't think we had any businesses that have Square.
- 18:56SPEAKER_04: Um, so Square is great.
- 18:58SPEAKER_04: Square is making it so much easier for everybody to because they it's basically a toggle button on the top of the screen.
- 19:07SPEAKER_04: Like, hey, yeah, so we went into a coffee shop for my birthday in June, and um they were like, Luke was like, I just love that you guys take Bitcoin, and she said, I do because square makes it like so easy, right?
- 19:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right now watch, watch this.
- 19:26SPEAKER_04: Let me show you.
- 19:27SPEAKER_04: I'm paying for my coffee in Bitcoin, so um that's so fun.
- 19:32SPEAKER_04: But most of the businesses um that we have, at least probably two-thirds, don't have that.
- 19:38SPEAKER_04: So um you have to explain to them and show them and get them set up, and um point of sale systems can be um tricky, but also it's been really fun to see the aha moments of the businesses and the people.
- 19:54SPEAKER_04: Um, and I don't know, do we have time to talk about a little bit more about the um games themselves?
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: Please, please be before we go into the games.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: I just have a couple quick questions though, real quick on what you guys have shared.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: So you guys have a treasure hunt, you're like, hey, meet up on Saturday.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: So at the first one, how many people showed up?
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: It's like 30.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that that's actually been the biggest one was the first one.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: Um, we were fighting a couple events and weather on the other two, but that was our biggest one was 30 people that showed up, which was super cool.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: Super fun.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: Um, and it was really encouraging to just see like the moment of awareness, right?
- 20:37SPEAKER_02: I think the the real shift came.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: We play this inflation game.
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: Oh, so fun.
- 20:43SPEAKER_02: Um, and it just stimulates what we're living in, and it clicks, right?
- 20:47SPEAKER_02: And there's like angst because some people aren't getting the like, so there's bidding game, right?
- 20:53SPEAKER_02: And there's a money printer, and whoever's closest to the money printer keeps getting more money.
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: So, like, it it increases the cost of goods, the goods are getting smaller and smaller, and then there's people who are completely excluded, and it's just a really easy thing to be like, hey, does anyone notice the housing market?
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: Does anyone feel excluded?
- 21:11SPEAKER_02: Um, unable to buy a house right now.
- 21:14SPEAKER_04: Um how about your chip bags from the grocery store?
- 21:17SPEAKER_04: Anyone notice how they're only a third full?
- 21:19SPEAKER_04: No.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: So there's like this tension, and we don't alleviate that, but then on the next business, we actually flip it on it on its head and we introduce a new form of money that's fixed supply, but it's divisible.
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: And we play this loom bidding game for candy bars.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: And what's really cool about that is that as we're simulating this and they're just following their natural human behavior without fail, we start with the smaller candy bar and they bid, and then by the end of it, you're getting four times as much for the same cost or less.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: Because money that can't be printed just changes the incentive.
- 21:59SPEAKER_02: So But then it clicks like, oh my gosh, this form of money um gets me more and I spend less.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: And it it's leading to abundance instead of like I'm paying a hundred times more for a quarter of what I used to get.
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: And so it's just really simple games like that that teach these really deep things.
- 22:23SPEAKER_02: It's not like, hey guys, let's teach, let's talk about the cantalon effect.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: And they're like right.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: You don't have to study that because they're experiencing the cantileon effect.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: And then the whole progression is we actually start with like a trivia game first, of like who's who's the creator of Bitcoin?
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: You know, you get a prize if you answer it correctly.
- 22:43SPEAKER_02: So Satoshi Nakamoto.
- 22:45SPEAKER_02: And then they have to look up the actual title of the white paper.
- 22:50SPEAKER_02: And that sets the tone for the whole thing of like, hey, this is meant to be a peer-to-peer cash, electronic cash system.
- 22:58SPEAKER_02: Well, this was meant to be money from the beginning.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: And so that just sets the tone for like, okay, we play a game about discovering what money is by doing a trading thing.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: We do inflation, we do deflation, and then by the end of those games, they're like, oh my gosh.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: I don't know all the details, but I know enough.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: And I've been actually using this money.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: I know it's real.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: They're giving me real things.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: I'm paying real Bitcoin.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: And now I know why like this money that we've just been using this whole time is better.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: And so that's when you're just like seeing the wide eyes, and they're like, we should really get coffee soon.
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: Can we talk soon more about this?
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: And so that's what's been really awesome.
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: It's better than what we just did, which is cool.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: Like and where did you like, hey, we need to just do a treasure hunt?
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: Like, we need to just get people involved.
- 23:55SPEAKER_03: Was it because you guys have kids and you guys are always like trying to find games?
- 23:58SPEAKER_03: And like, I don't I mean, I I mean it's it's very unique way to to orange pill people.
- 24:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and like a way to get community.
- 24:06SPEAKER_03: It could have been like a I don't know, just have people over or whatever.
- 24:09SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 24:10SPEAKER_03: It's just so unique.
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:12SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 24:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:13SPEAKER_04: The moment I remember um I was doing dishes or something in the kitchen, and Luke walks in in his paint gear and he goes, I have an idea.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: I was like, what?
- 24:23SPEAKER_04: What's your idea?
- 24:24SPEAKER_04: And you could see the sparkle in his eyes.
- 24:26SPEAKER_04: And he said, What if we did like a treasure hunt?
- 24:30SPEAKER_04: And I was like, What do you what do you mean by that?
- 24:35SPEAKER_04: And it just literally was something my understanding was you were just working and it just was this like a download.
- 24:46SPEAKER_04: What if we made it really fun?
- 24:49SPEAKER_04: You know, we've all we've all spent the hours trying to orange pill our family members and our you know best friends and all the things and seen so little results because no one has time, you know?
- 25:04SPEAKER_04: But this idea of fun just kind of changes the dynamic.
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: And I think it just it comes from the pain of we need to use this as money.
- 25:16SPEAKER_04: How can we get people to use it as money?
- 25:19SPEAKER_04: And I think the just the process of how can we get it, how can we get it monetized?
- 25:25SPEAKER_04: Like, let's use it, let's use it.
- 25:27SPEAKER_04: That's how we keep this from getting taken from us all, you know?
- 25:31unknown: Yeah.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: So good.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: That's incredible.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: I just I am I want to go back to the I think that this treasure hunt idea is so cool and so fun because that's the things.
- 25:43SPEAKER_03: I mean, I work in education.
- 25:45SPEAKER_03: Those are the things when you have a person or someone or student who's immersed in something, they're way more likely to understand what it is.
- 25:54SPEAKER_03: That's how I learn.
- 25:55SPEAKER_03: I have to hear it and then do it.
- 25:57SPEAKER_03: You know, I have to see it and then do it.
- 25:59SPEAKER_03: And as soon as I start doing it, I feel like, oh, I get it now, you know?
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: And so it's so awesome that you did this for adults, which it feels like a like an escape room, right?
- 26:09SPEAKER_03: Or whatever.
- 26:09SPEAKER_03: Like it's kind of the same, yeah.
- 26:11SPEAKER_03: It's kind of the same idea of like, okay, like let's go around our own town who the people we see on the daily, who we love, you know, the place, you know, all these people, which is such a special part of that whole aspect.
- 26:24SPEAKER_03: And then you add a game to like, you know, engage them in the conversation of something that feels a little odd or different.
- 26:34SPEAKER_03: And then it really makes them feel like, wow, this is real, you know, and like you said, that they're exchanging real, like for real things in the store.
- 26:42SPEAKER_03: So when you go to these stores, have you guys already like talked?
- 26:46SPEAKER_03: I mean, are these stores already accepting Bitcoin?
- 26:49SPEAKER_03: And then they're just like, yeah, let's do it.
- 26:51SPEAKER_03: Or are you did you guys have to put kind of like pre-vet them and yeah, and like, or orange pill them first?
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: Or how did that go to get some of these businesses on board?
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: Well, that's what's super cool, is we actually used both of those elements to incentivize each other.
- 27:08SPEAKER_02: So we did not have any businesses besides our own.
- 27:12SPEAKER_04: There's one, there's one business that's contacted us and said, Hey, I'm a Bitcoiner too, can I be part of this?
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: That was after the first time.
- 27:20SPEAKER_04: But um Yeah, yeah, that was after it.
- 27:22SPEAKER_02: But basically, so again, so I'm not well read in Austrian economics or anything, but that that premise, human action, um, and incentives, like we're driven by like our own wants, desires, needs.
- 27:38SPEAKER_02: So for the businesses, the incentive is hey, we're doing this treasure hunt, we're bringing anywhere from 20 to 30 people, and we'd love to support your business.
- 27:49SPEAKER_02: We'd love to bring them in, teaching them about Bitcoin, we'd love to them to spend, get you more foot traffic.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: And that's what's been so empowering about this is that this is truly based on benefiting our community.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, right.
- 28:08SPEAKER_02: And starting with our world first, right?
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: Not trying to be out there doing something, but just looking at the people you know and love and you you do life with and saying, Hey, right, we talk about Bitcoin's gonna make a better world.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: Well, how it's not gonna just pop, right?
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: And then I'll say, Oh, yeah, we're we're better.
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: Um, but it's actually tangibly us, you, everyone who's listening, whatever, like taking this tool, right?
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: We it's permissionless, we can just do stuff with it.
- 28:40SPEAKER_02: And what if we craft it into a tool to help our businesses?
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: So we're like, man, we could use this to spur the locals connecting better with their their local businesses.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: So the incentive for the local business is like, hey, do you want customers?
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: Um and this is a really easy process.
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: I can set you up in under 15 minutes.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: Um, and all you need to do is to be able to accept Bitcoin.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: We'll teach you how, we'll help you if you know if you need to convert back to dollars for for stuff, fine.
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: Um, we encourage you to keep it, blah, blah, blah.
- 29:18SPEAKER_02: But so the business has an incentive, the people have an incentive, and now we have both sides of the equation where as Bitcoiners, we need places to spend Bitcoin that will actually and then as businesses, we need people who actually have Bitcoin who will spend it, and that's how we start the circular economy.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: So that's what's been really neat.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: The video's taken a little bit longer, but we did interviews with the first round of businesses after about three months of having after the hunt and seeing awesome results.
- 29:53SPEAKER_02: One business did 20% of their sales in Bitcoin.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: 20% which granted these aren't like giant businesses, so it's not like it's crazy amounts of money, but 20%.
- 30:05SPEAKER_04: We were shocked.
- 30:06SPEAKER_02: And another business did eight of their their sales in in Bitcoin.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: Um multiple, like uh one guy he does like higher ticket items.
- 30:15SPEAKER_02: He probably um, I think he did almost five thousand dollars worth of Bitcoin transactions.
- 30:20SPEAKER_02: Um, I mean, our business alone, like we sell paint and do painting.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: Like we've probably done 15 grand in Bitcoin sales over the last, you know, um two quarters, maybe.
- 30:33SPEAKER_02: So it's like it's real, like it's happening.
- 30:35SPEAKER_02: Like we're actually starting to snowball, you know.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: One of the interviews is with uh um one of the waitresses at the Mountain Oasis.
- 30:43SPEAKER_02: So we've been tipping her in Bitcoin.
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: She takes her tips and she goes and spends her Bitcoin at the toy shop because they got these cool miniature things that she loves.
- 30:52SPEAKER_02: So it's like the Bitcoin is circulating, like it's actually happening.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: Um so that's the really encouraging piece is that it's not like just these, you know, blah blah whatever event and then one and done, but um, we're really trying to incentivize people to spend and for businesses to say, hey, um what if you incentivize people to pay with Bitcoin?
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: Because you know, as a business, it's no transaction fees, so that saves them a ton of money.
- 31:22SPEAKER_02: There's no risk of chargebacks.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: Um like there's a ton of benefits that a business can have.
- 31:28SPEAKER_04: So tax benefits, all kinds of stuff.
- 31:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so we're putting all this material together to be able to open source this and give this to other communities and just to be able to have like be equipped with all the great benefits a business can get from this, right?
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: And then just how to make it fun and and just dismantle a lot of the you know, a lot of people are off put by the Bitcoin thing, right?
- 31:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but yeah, everyone who says who hears we're doing a treasure route, they're like, Oh, that sounds cool.
- 31:58SPEAKER_02: I want to come.
- 31:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: That's amazing.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: And also, like it's a win-win.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: The business is gonna get foot traffic, like you shared, right, Luke?
- 32:07SPEAKER_00: And so why would you not want to like try something else to get more income?
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: And then also the other people are learning, and then um, I don't know if you guys have heard.
- 32:16SPEAKER_00: Uh, do you guys know what mana is?
- 32:19SPEAKER_04: Uh-huh.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: Mana wallet.
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: Mana mana, the gap.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because that's amazing too to like onboard because I know you shared uh wallet of Satoshi, right?
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: No KYC, super easy, like one, two, three.
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: Mana is the same way.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: And what's also cool with mana is that it shows you guys on Bitcoin maps, it shows you like who accepts Bitcoin.
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: So then maybe you, yeah, like so.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: Even using that as a like another tool to like, hey, we're gonna send Bitcoiners your way, or you know, I think those people would be like, say yes, right, a way to to treasure hunt.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: Um that the whole thing, like, oh I'm like still wrapping my head while you're talking.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: I'm like, dude, I'm growing up on rabbit trails, but oh no, no, I love it.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: Like I'm just gonna be able to do it.
- 33:08SPEAKER_04: And then you can take it home and you can do it there.
- 33:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:12SPEAKER_03: Seriously, no, it's because we actually live in a small small, it's a big, it's a big city, but we have like a an older town that we're a part of, and so um they have like vintage shops.
- 33:24SPEAKER_03: So they have like a whole downtown area that feels very, it's like all from the 1800s.
- 33:29SPEAKER_03: Like these buildings are super old.
- 33:30SPEAKER_03: Love it.
- 33:31SPEAKER_03: So it's really cool.
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: Um this episode is brought to you by Microsoft.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: Microsiving engraves your entire Bitcoin seed phrase onto fireproof, waterproof steel, or titanium.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: Small enough to fit in your palm, strong enough to last a lifetime.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: It's durable, easy to hide, and built for secure storage.
- 33:50SPEAKER_03: If your seed phrase is still on paper, it's time to upgrade and take self-custody to the next level.
- 33:55SPEAKER_03: Because not your keys, not your coins.
- 33:57SPEAKER_03: Go to microc.io and use code LUNA, L-U-N-A, for a discount or check the link in the description below.
- 34:04SPEAKER_03: Um, so we love taking our family down there.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: We're always just kind of, they have restaurants and all that stuff.
- 34:09SPEAKER_03: So it's a really cool place to go.
- 34:10SPEAKER_03: And I'm just, I know that there's so many small business owners there that would probably be like, oh my gosh, you know, like that's awesome.
- 34:17SPEAKER_03: Let's do it, you know, because they're always trying to have little pockets of community that will come through.
- 34:23SPEAKER_03: Um, so yeah, gosh, I would love to be immersed in that too.
- 34:27SPEAKER_03: Cause I was, I was late to the Bitcoin, you know, game.
- 34:30SPEAKER_03: It took me a while to really understand it.
- 34:32SPEAKER_03: And and I feel like something like that would have been way more helpful for me to like be immersed in it rather than God bless Anthony, but you know, rather than him hearing what this is growing up.
- 34:44SPEAKER_03: I was or I'm I'm listening.
- 34:46SPEAKER_03: Obviously, podcasts are awesome too.
- 34:49SPEAKER_03: That really helped me a lot too.
- 34:50SPEAKER_03: And then reading also, but I think there's something about the do part that like really helps, like the doing of like being in it and then seeing those cool games.
- 35:00SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, and I know speaking of games too, just to kind of go on to like the side side of like being a parent too.
- 35:07SPEAKER_03: Do you guys play these games with your kids too?
- 35:09SPEAKER_03: I'm curious, just because like we're our kids aren't quite there yet, but I'm always looking into you know cool games to be able to kind of talk to them about inflation or finances.
- 35:19SPEAKER_03: So I don't know if you guys have any, you know, tips or tricks for us too.
- 35:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I mean, we um so we try them out.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: We they're our guinea pigs and we try out our games.
- 35:30SPEAKER_04: Okay, now we're gonna play this one and we're gonna see how it goes.
- 35:32SPEAKER_04: And um, they honestly are so immersed.
- 35:35SPEAKER_04: We're we're talking about Bitcoin all the time in front of them and they're hearing about it.
- 35:41SPEAKER_04: Our oldest stumbled into a um lawn maintenance business and now gets paid in Bitcoin for a good chunk of it or most of it.
- 35:50SPEAKER_04: Um, and so he has his own wallet and you know, is is watching it grow over time.
- 35:58SPEAKER_04: And um, we've given our our kids, our four oldest, have wallets, and they um, you know, they joke about sometimes we're tired of hearing dad talk about Bitcoin, but oftentimes, like I mean, they really do get it.
- 36:17SPEAKER_04: And it's just being immersed in it for our family.
- 36:20SPEAKER_04: It's not like when do you start talking to them about Bitcoin?
- 36:23SPEAKER_04: It's kind of like, well, like it we have to talk to them about money, so let's talk to them about a better money, you know.
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: Like if we can, let's do let's actually change the world.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: And we just want them involved in our life, right?
- 36:37SPEAKER_02: So it's like we don't have we don't compartmentalize necessarily, it's just a free-flowing conversation with constantly, yeah.
- 36:45SPEAKER_02: And you know, whether it's just like a comment or you see something, you know, on TV or whatever, and then it's just an opportunity, and I just make a comment to him like, right?
- 36:56SPEAKER_02: Like, um, what did Kinzel say the other day?
- 36:59SPEAKER_02: Um it was so funny, but he made just some comment of like with a business and they were like wasting money or something, and he's like, gosh, they had been they obviously don't understand Bitcoin.
- 37:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're right, dude.
- 37:15SPEAKER_04: This is our nine-year-old, yeah.
- 37:18SPEAKER_02: So yeah, so it's less of like, oh, now we gotta talk about Bitcoin thing.
- 37:22SPEAKER_02: Um, however, like Lindy, for example, yeah, most like great content out there because that's when you when you're wanting to be intentional, like those kind of resources are amazing.
- 37:33SPEAKER_02: Um but yeah, it's more of like a way of life and um just just trying to at every point, like whether Bitcoin existed or not, we want to teach them about money.
- 37:44SPEAKER_02: So even our four-year-old, um, you know, he wants a cool toy.
- 37:49SPEAKER_02: We say, Well, let's save up for this.
- 37:50SPEAKER_02: You want to do a chore, right?
- 37:52SPEAKER_02: Like, hey, if you can pick up these couple toys, I'll pay you a quarter, right?
- 37:56SPEAKER_02: And then, you know, he builds up his jar.
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: And the our four and five-year-old, they just bought themselves a cool Spider-Man uh motorcycle that they saved up for over like three months.
- 38:09SPEAKER_02: Um, so it's it's those concepts, right?
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: But with Bitcoin now we can just simply um also bring that in and say, well, hey, you know, our older kids are like how much do you want in Bitcoin?
- 38:23SPEAKER_02: Do you want any in Bitcoin or do you want all cash?
- 38:25SPEAKER_02: Why do you want to do that, right?
- 38:26SPEAKER_04: And like allowance, yeah.
- 38:28SPEAKER_02: And and allow them to process and make their own choices and then you know encourage them along that path.
- 38:35SPEAKER_00: That's amazing.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: And uh first off, you guys are all-star parents.
- 38:38SPEAKER_00: Like, I love like instilling it at a young age because we most people don't even learn about money until they're older, like right?
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: Like I'm still like recently, yeah.
- 38:48SPEAKER_00: You know, and so just instilling it at a young age is so good.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: Um, did you guys think with your treasure hunt, did you think it would get this far where where you guys are at right now?
- 38:58SPEAKER_02: I mean, I hoped it would.
- 38:59SPEAKER_02: Um you know, we're big dreamers.
- 39:03SPEAKER_02: Um, our our hope and vision is that this would actually um spread to other towns.
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: And I'm just a firm believer that the individual is is what's powerful, right?
- 39:18SPEAKER_02: Like when we each take personal responsibility for what we can control, um, we are the difference.
- 39:25SPEAKER_02: I would take the many over the big guy any day, right?
- 39:29SPEAKER_02: Um, and I just believe in people and that they have such potential if given the opportunity.
- 39:35SPEAKER_02: And so like the real vision is is we want to change the narrative in Bitcoin that this is about every one of us.
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: And and that's kind of like so this motto that we've kind of been trying to instill in our town is like hodl and spend, right?
- 39:52SPEAKER_02: So you hear in Bitcoin all the time, like never sell your Bitcoin, never blah blah blah.
- 39:57SPEAKER_02: And those sentiments are true because if you want to build generational wealth, you should save in Bitcoin.
- 40:04SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 40:05SPEAKER_02: But the second part of that is you need to spend Bitcoin if it's actually gonna be the money we use.
- 40:13SPEAKER_02: If you don't use it, then it like and a lot of like what Jeff Wood says, like this, it's gotta be used.
- 40:19SPEAKER_02: Um so we need places to spend and we need an incentive to do it.
- 40:26SPEAKER_02: So our motto is is like, hey, yes, total, don't touch your stack.
- 40:30SPEAKER_02: It should grow, if anything, right?
- 40:33SPEAKER_02: But when you go and spend, you can actually make an intentional uh transfer of energy that you can take energy from the broken system that that has been corrupted, you can put it into the one that's honest and true, that benefits the community, it benefits your family.
- 40:56SPEAKER_02: And so instead of us spending and then replacing our Bitcoin, we just don't spend this Bitcoin.
- 41:02SPEAKER_02: And then if I'm going to pay for coffee, I'm intentionally taking energy from fiat, putting it into Bitcoin, and then I'm spending it in coffee.
- 41:12SPEAKER_02: So then what we want the ethos to be is like, hey, you, me, every one of us can tangibly move the needle towards a better world one purchase at a time, one transaction at a time.
- 41:29SPEAKER_02: It's like we finally have a tool that we can make a difference.
- 41:33SPEAKER_02: And if you take care of your corner of the world and we take care of ours, and each bitcoin or all the plebs unite, that's how we take over the world, right?
- 41:42SPEAKER_02: Yes, that's how we get the money back, that's how we keep governments and institutions from capturing this, right?
- 41:49SPEAKER_02: Like it's doable, yeah.
- 41:52SPEAKER_02: And and it's easy.
- 41:54SPEAKER_02: It is it hard for you to just go spend Bitcoin instead of cash?
- 41:58SPEAKER_02: No, it's not.
- 41:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and actually it's better on taxes too, because you just bought it, so there is no tax implication.
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: So it's just like this flywheel of positivity again of like, hey, let's just hoddle and spend if we want fiat to end, and let's just do all do our part, right?
- 42:15SPEAKER_02: And I think the pleb army armies rises up and we have hope again.
- 42:21SPEAKER_02: You know, so many Bitcoiners are disenfranchised right now because we came in for this revolution, and all we see is a bunch of more fiat games, right?
- 42:30SPEAKER_02: Like we want to restore the hope back.
- 42:34SPEAKER_02: Like, oh no, it's still permissionless.
- 42:36SPEAKER_02: We can still just take over if we want.
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: So that's the big vision and the hope.
- 42:41SPEAKER_02: We hope to inspire people to, you know, we're open sourcing this, take it, change it, make it relevant for whatever you're doing, make it better.
- 42:50SPEAKER_02: Um but let's all work together and empower one another to really make a difference.
- 42:57SPEAKER_03: That's so great.
- 42:58SPEAKER_03: That's such a you gosh, you hit so many things that I'm like, oh my gosh.
- 43:04SPEAKER_03: But it's it's it's encouraging your what you guys are doing, and it's encouraging your message, and it's encouraging and hopeful.
- 43:11SPEAKER_03: And that's the one thing about Bitcoin that attracted me to wanting to learn more about Bitcoin was that it was a hopeful feeling.
- 43:18SPEAKER_03: I feel like it was a positive place.
- 43:20SPEAKER_03: It was a good, you know, it felt good.
- 43:23SPEAKER_03: Whereas like when people are using fiat or when you ever look just at the fiat system, it it people are stressed, tired, uh, fearful, um, hurting one another.
- 43:34SPEAKER_03: You know, they're they're greedy, they're, you know, all these things because it's all coming from just a negative place.
- 43:40SPEAKER_03: And so that's one of the things that really stood out to me when I was really starting to understand it more was wow, this is a this is like feels faithful and good and hopeful and all of those things that I value, right?
- 43:54SPEAKER_03: What we value and it aligns so much with that.
- 43:56SPEAKER_03: And so, um, and then one of the other things you touched on too was.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: You know, the hodl, you know, when Anthony first got into it, that was like the one thing that I was like, so we just never touch this.
- 44:06SPEAKER_03: We're touching this.
- 44:13SPEAKER_03: This is a significant amount of you know, like in our resources that we were, you know, because I didn't totally understand it, right?
- 44:18SPEAKER_03: So I'm like, well, these resources are going into this place.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: Don't worry about it.
- 44:24SPEAKER_03: You guys navigated this, but I I was like, Yeah, uh, okay, so I'm just gonna, we have three young kids, you know, we're buying diapers, we're doing all these things again.
- 44:34SPEAKER_03: I'm just being realistic here.
- 44:36SPEAKER_03: We can never use that, you know?
- 44:38SPEAKER_03: And so never.
- 44:42SPEAKER_03: And it was just, it was really interesting.
- 44:44SPEAKER_03: And then finally, someone said, you can spend it.
- 44:47SPEAKER_03: And I was like, yes, no, I'm just kidding.
- 44:51SPEAKER_03: It was it's a process, though.
- 44:53SPEAKER_03: It is a process.
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: I think everyone has to probably go through that, right?
- 44:56SPEAKER_03: It's like understanding, yes, of course, because the principle is you do want to, like you were saying, Luke, was you do want to hold on to it because you you want to invest and build that generational wealth.
- 45:05SPEAKER_03: But like you said, the ecosystem, you know, of us using that money is super important.
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: To add on to that, the one thing that keeps coming over and over and over is repeating that I've learned during this podcast is to spend our Bitcoin.
- 45:20SPEAKER_00: That has been the one thing if I learned from all the amazing guests that we have is to spend your Bitcoin.
- 45:27SPEAKER_00: And even in the very beginning, I was still like put off by it.
- 45:30SPEAKER_00: But it just makes sense.
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: Like, like you said, it's peer-to-peer and it's meant for that.
- 45:34SPEAKER_00: And so, and how do we streamline the adoption phase?
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: We have to spend this money.
- 45:39SPEAKER_00: We can't just hold on and just like have this thing, like, oh, well, and I also think if you really think about it, it's like, why are they holding on to it?
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: Like, why are they just holding on if it's such a great thing and then they call it money, why are they not spending it?
- 45:53SPEAKER_00: Um, and and then everything started to click for me more because then what do we hear on TV and on the media?
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: Uh all the FUD, they're always talking about you can't even buy coffee with it, you can't even buy this.
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: Like, name one thing you can buy.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: And then I'm always like, this is another aha moment in Bitcoin where you're just like, whoa, like we need to start spending this money.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: And so one thing I go to is wherever we wherever we go now, I always ask them, like, hey, do you guys accept Bitcoin?
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: And then they're like, You it's it's funny.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: The response is yeah, the basics.
- 46:30SPEAKER_00: I went to a gas station and they had a Bitcoin ATM, uh, those one, those machines where you can kind of like purchase it, but again, it's like the margins are so large, it's like it doesn't make sense.
- 46:39SPEAKER_00: So, like, but so I'm like, hey, before I get my gas, like, do you guys accept Bitcoin?
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: I'll pay my gas for in Bitcoin.
- 46:47SPEAKER_00: And they were like, no.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: Like, she was kind of curious.
- 46:58SPEAKER_00: And then the guy was like, No, we don't do that, man.
- 47:00SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, okay, so before you get all crazy with me, like you guys have a Bitcoin machine here.
- 47:06SPEAKER_00: So as if like you guys probably accept Bitcoin.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: So I'm just trying to connect the dots here.
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: And then she was like, She you could see her, like her like wheels were turning.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't know that.
- 47:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:20SPEAKER_00: And I was like, okay, all right, guys.
- 47:22SPEAKER_00: All right, all right.
- 47:23SPEAKER_00: I just I I thought I'd ask, you know.
- 47:25SPEAKER_00: But like that's one of my favorite things, though, like going to Costco, you know, asking, hey, do you guys accept Bitcoin?
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: It's a simple, quick question, but at the same time, I really think it's impactful because people are seeing it way more now, people hear it way more.
- 47:38SPEAKER_00: Um, and then when like again, like what Luke says, like, Luke makes me want to like put my hard hat on and tie my boots up and go orange fill my towel.
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: Yes, you really you really think about it now.
- 47:50SPEAKER_00: It's like you get those wheels turning by having these small conversations up uh face to face, right?
- 47:57SPEAKER_00: And there's just like, hmm, let me see, let me let me think about that, you know.
- 48:02SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 48:02SPEAKER_02: You're planting those seeds, and I think those are really important because with each new interaction, sometimes it takes three, four, or five times before it really starts to like, you know, I should look into this, right?
- 48:14SPEAKER_02: So like I that's a huge piece um I think of also, you know, just seeding your community, like a pre-Treasure Hunt seeding.
- 48:24SPEAKER_02: We actually um didn't really execute on it super well yet, but we actually created a Bitcoin task force.
- 48:31SPEAKER_04: We're building it.
- 48:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:33SPEAKER_02: And it's a what's a what, I'm sorry?
- 48:35SPEAKER_02: A Bitcoin task force where the Bitcoin people that we've orange build, we just divide up and we do the same thing.
- 48:43SPEAKER_02: We go and we ask businesses if they accept Bitcoin yet to just show that there's demand, right?
- 48:49SPEAKER_02: And to create that demand so that business owners are like, gosh, you know, like people keep asking me about Bitcoin, right?
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: And then having the event next to it of like, hey, wow, look at this.
- 49:04SPEAKER_02: There's an event that teaches people how to use Bitcoin.
- 49:07SPEAKER_02: And and so again, just creating the world we want to see, being creative, um, using those kind of tools and tactics of like, hey, um, we want to be able to spend Bitcoin in our community.
- 49:19SPEAKER_02: We want to be able to opt out of uh money that's manipulated.
- 49:24SPEAKER_02: So we need places to spend, so let's create the demand, right?
- 49:28SPEAKER_02: You don't need that many people, and then let's do these events and let's onboard people.
- 49:33SPEAKER_02: And now you know it's only been eight months, but we feel like we're getting momentum, like Brooke said, we had three businesses basically onboarded and we didn't even go in to talk to them.
- 49:44SPEAKER_02: Like they were approaching us like, hey, can you add us to the list?
- 49:47SPEAKER_02: And hey, can we be a part of the next hunt?
- 49:50SPEAKER_02: Um, because they're seeing the value of it.
- 49:52SPEAKER_02: And I don't think it's because they're like hardcore Bitcoiners, it's because of the value of this tool that gave us the ability to give value to our community.
- 50:04SPEAKER_02: So um and and like you said, Danielle, it feels clean, right?
- 50:09SPEAKER_02: It's it feels like something you can engage in knowing deep in your heart that it's you're loving your community.
- 50:17SPEAKER_02: Um and and it's not just a cool flippant, like pie in the sky idea anymore.
- 50:24SPEAKER_02: Like it's happening, right?
- 50:26SPEAKER_02: Like it really is.
- 50:27SPEAKER_02: It really is truly bringing one of the a hopeful outlook on this new fun money.
- 50:34SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 50:34SPEAKER_04: Do you guys want to hear um the culmination of how a treasure ends and how they find the treasure?
- 50:40SPEAKER_00: Uh please, Brunt.
- 50:42SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 50:42SPEAKER_00: Please.
- 50:43SPEAKER_04: I would love to hear all of it.
- 50:45SPEAKER_00: Please share everything.
- 50:48SPEAKER_04: So um throughout the treasure hunt, there are um actual keys that each team.
- 50:57SPEAKER_04: So we typically break people into four or five teams at the beginning, and then they go with their teams and they um spend Bitcoin, and then hopefully they're winning games.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: And at the end of a game, the prize will be a key.
- 51:14SPEAKER_04: And all we tell them is, you're gonna need these at the end.
- 51:19SPEAKER_04: So don't lose them.
- 51:21SPEAKER_04: And on the key, we've stamped in a word, and so they hold on to the keys until the end.
- 51:29SPEAKER_04: And throughout the hunt, some most of them are um won by games, some of them are hidden.
- 51:37SPEAKER_04: But at the end, at our final stop at business number six, then we have everyone get out their keys and they look at the keys.
- 51:47SPEAKER_04: Oh, look, they're labeled and they're one through 12.
- 51:50SPEAKER_04: Um, let's line them all up.
- 51:52SPEAKER_04: And then we teach them about seed phrases and say, hey, this is actually the seed phrase for a Bitcoin wallet that holds the treasure.
- 52:01SPEAKER_04: And whoever has the most keys, their team wins this Bitcoin treasure hunt, and you will receive the money that's in here.
- 52:10SPEAKER_04: So then we line them all up and we add each word into a wallet, and then they get to see, they pull it up on their phone and they see, oh, this is what you said.
- 52:23SPEAKER_04: This is the Bitcoin bounty that that has been put in for the treasure hunt.
- 52:30SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 52:31SPEAKER_04: And then we teach them about their own wallets.
- 52:33SPEAKER_04: We have them write on their own seed phrases.
- 52:36SPEAKER_04: We make sure to empty out that wallet so that it's obviously it's very public at this point.
- 52:41SPEAKER_04: Um we move all the money into the winners' wallets.
- 52:45SPEAKER_04: Um, and they get to see it's like a final example of how Bitcoin works.
- 52:52SPEAKER_04: Uh so it's super fun and a blast to see again, the aha, like, oh wow, look at this.
- 53:00unknown: Oh my gosh.
- 53:01SPEAKER_00: That's amazing.
- 53:02SPEAKER_00: And that's just another layer of like education that they just like without even knowing, they're just having fun with it, but they just like discovered.
- 53:10SPEAKER_00: And that's a that's incredible.
- 53:12SPEAKER_00: So this is the coolest thing.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: This is super cool.
- 53:14SPEAKER_00: This is super cool.
- 53:16SPEAKER_03: I I love that, like, just you know, I I feel like Luke, you probably have a lot of time to think while you're painting, right?
- 53:22SPEAKER_03: Like you're you know, you're it's a repetitive thing that you're doing, and you're like Luke's like, uh ding, light bulb.
- 53:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's just like I I don't compare, but there's moments where I can see him just doing like a mundane task, and there's moments where I can just he just comes back and he says something.
- 53:40SPEAKER_03: I'm sure Burke, you're like, you know, have that moment where you're like, what?
- 53:43SPEAKER_03: You know, like what just happened?
- 53:46SPEAKER_03: And yeah, yeah.
- 53:49SPEAKER_03: Um, I just think that is so funny because I it's such a great idea that like, you know, that you're just creating these opportunities.
- 53:58SPEAKER_03: And adults love to have fun.
- 53:59SPEAKER_03: They do, they love to play games and we just we don't get to all the time because we're always we're focused on you know the world around us, unfortunately, and having to earn fiat to support our families and things.
- 54:11SPEAKER_03: So it allows people, like you said, to have that community, have fun, um, and actually like support their local businesses and earn money, which is so fun too.
- 54:25SPEAKER_03: Like who doesn't like to do that?
- 54:26SPEAKER_02: So or win money.
- 54:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 54:29SPEAKER_02: Well, and I think to your point, I think what's really important as we seek to orange pill people is um the analogy that we keep with is the car analogy, right?
- 54:43SPEAKER_02: So if I want to teach my mom or my grandma how to drive a car, I'm not gonna start with like, hey, this is what a transmission does, and it's really important that you know about fuel injectors, right?
- 54:54SPEAKER_02: It's like like no one would drive, only mechanics would drive.
- 54:57SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 54:58SPEAKER_02: And in Bitcoin right now, most of the Bitcoin community came in because they're like the mechanics, right?
- 55:04SPEAKER_02: They're the people who are gonna read the books, who are gonna go deep and care about how how it actually works.
- 55:12SPEAKER_02: Um there's a whole subset of people who just won't, and it's not because they're less, it's just that's not who they are.
- 55:19SPEAKER_02: Um but my grandma can still get value from a vehicle by just knowing the the basics.
- 55:26SPEAKER_02: Like what are the things she needs to know?
- 55:28SPEAKER_02: Like how do you use the key?
- 55:30SPEAKER_02: Here's the steering wheel, here's the turn signal, here's some of the rules of the road.
- 55:34SPEAKER_02: Um it we keep it very simple so that people can get value.
- 55:39SPEAKER_02: And that's the cool thing about Bitcoin is you can get incredible value as a business or an individual, and it can be so easy.
- 55:49SPEAKER_02: And both the businesses and the participants, that's like a hundred percent of them are like this is easy.
- 55:56SPEAKER_02: And they're already getting value about it, and they they don't know necessarily what a node is, don't know what mining is yet, and they don't necessarily have to.
- 56:05SPEAKER_02: Um, so we want to keep that door open and and you know, encourage them in and talk about self-custody and those important things.
- 56:13SPEAKER_02: Um and they can do that when they're ready, but they can also participate in this economy and get incredible value from it and never have to know any of that stuff.
- 56:24SPEAKER_02: So um I think as Bitcoiners, when we're orange peeling, let's keep it simple, um, be kind about it, right?
- 56:32SPEAKER_02: And make it exciting.
- 56:34SPEAKER_02: Um, and I think we'll just see that orange pill journey completely change, right?
- 56:40SPEAKER_04: It's fun to watch the um the groups of people that we're finding at our treasure hunts, or for example, our last Bitcoin meetup, there were five people over the age of 60 with zero context for Bitcoin.
- 56:56SPEAKER_04: They were so cool.
- 56:57SPEAKER_04: I mean, and it's and it not that those matter, except for that like the narrative is changing to where it doesn't have to be complicated, to where only certain brains get it, and only certain personalities or like all the stigmas, right?
- 57:14SPEAKER_04: It doesn't matter.
- 57:14SPEAKER_04: It it's easy.
- 57:16SPEAKER_04: It it's we all uh teenagers, we've had a several teenagers come to our treasure hunts and they're like, this is a blast, and it just makes sense.
- 57:25SPEAKER_04: Their their technology brains are like it's no-brainer for them.
- 57:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and so it's so fun to see Bitcoin truly is for everyone, every age group, every every personality type.
- 57:40SPEAKER_04: It doesn't actually matter.
- 57:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it really can be, and we're seeing it really truly be for everyone.
- 57:48SPEAKER_04: If it's it because we don't have to teach them all to be mechanics.
- 57:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:53SPEAKER_04: I don't have to be a mechanic.
- 57:55SPEAKER_00: No, no, you're you guys are doing great.
- 57:58SPEAKER_00: And Luke, I really love how you break it down.
- 58:01SPEAKER_00: Like you don't need to get into the details of the car and stuff like that.
- 58:04SPEAKER_00: Like, I always think about it like like feeding ducks, right?
- 58:07SPEAKER_00: You just gotta give them breadcrumbs, right?
- 58:09SPEAKER_00: You don't if you ever throw the whole loaf out then they're just like, ah, get away from me, like go talk to me.
- 58:14SPEAKER_00: Like, no way.
- 58:15SPEAKER_00: Like you literally gave them like you know, food for a whole week, but they're just still like, no.
- 58:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so just doing breadcrumbs is such a good uh like you just like slowly get them.
- 58:25SPEAKER_00: Then again, they don't need to know about a no mining.
- 58:28SPEAKER_00: If they want to go down that road, you just keep the door open for them.
- 58:32SPEAKER_00: Um, I really love that.
- 58:33SPEAKER_00: Um to kind of wrap things up to you guys, one of our favorite, unless you guys have something else you guys want to share that we're missing from the treasure hunt, please add.
- 58:42SPEAKER_04: I think that's it.
- 58:43SPEAKER_04: That's all I can think.
- 58:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, I think so.
- 58:46SPEAKER_02: Um we are gonna be at the Midwest Bitcoin Summit coming up in September.
- 58:51SPEAKER_02: We're gonna do three treasure hunts there.
- 58:53SPEAKER_02: And the hope is is that we're gonna use those as um tools to not only start kickstart Columbus, Ohio's uh circular economy, but um to empower other Bitcoiners who are coming from around the country.
- 59:08SPEAKER_02: And so we've already got like people interested from like Indiana and Columbus, I mean um Cleveland and Detroit.
- 59:17SPEAKER_02: So we're hoping Mississippi, uh New Jersey, we're hoping that this starts little fires everywhere.
- 59:23SPEAKER_02: So if you happen to be coming to that summit or you can, we'll be awesome.
- 59:28SPEAKER_02: We'd love to meet it'd be really cool to meet you guys in person.
- 59:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, or anyone who's coming, um, because we're gonna showcase it, we're gonna immerse people in it, and then we'll we're gonna try to give people as much as we can to empower them to do this in their communities.
- 59:45SPEAKER_00: Hey, Luke is the man in Brooke.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, you guys are doing it.
- 59:50SPEAKER_00: You guys are like, I could just like imagine you just like everyone's just like accepting and they're like, What's this?
- 59:56SPEAKER_00: Why are you guys doing it?
- 59:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, we're spending Bitcoin.
- 59:59SPEAKER_00: Whether they agree to it or not, the thing I see the most that's super impactful is that it's getting people's wheels turning.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_00: Again, it just goes back to everyone's hearing it now, everybody kind of has like an idea of it, everyone sees it on TV, but then the next thing is like, you want me to accept Bitcoin or you you want to spend Bitcoin?
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_00: I know those people that I talked to at the gas station, they were talking about that after I left.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_00: When you guys leave these places, they're like, they're talking about it after they leave.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_00: And I think that's where it's like, okay, where traction is moving.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_03: Um I'd also like to add too is that it's coming from a genuine place, right?
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_03: So like people can feel that too.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_03: And I and I, you guys are just so wonderful and such genuine people.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_03: I can already just feel it.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_03: This conversation is so so awesome.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_03: But you can really like usually in the world, it's like, so what are you getting out of it?
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_03: You know, or you know, people can kind of come off as like a like, what do you what do you try what are you trying to get from me from this whole situation?
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_03: And it's really like I'm you there's nothing that you're actually really, I mean, other than the fact that your community is going to be accepting Bitcoin and you want the world to become a better place because of Bitcoin.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_03: And it will benefit you, yes, but it'll benefit everybody.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_03: So it's it's such a cool thing because it's coming from such a genuine place.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_03: And um I think that's why you're having that growth.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_03: It's because it's coming from a good place, you know.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_03: And I always feel like when those things happen and they're starting to that momentum starting to build and all of that, it's like at the core, you're just wanting your community to just be better.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_03: And you guys are doing such an awesome job, and I just think it's so cool.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_03: Um, but for someone that one of our favorite questions asked kind of to close out this is if you know someone is just coming into the Bitcoin space, what is some some advice or encouragement that you would give to them?
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, just so they don't feel so overwhelmed uh by Bitcoin.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I would just say it is easier than you expect.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_04: And don't be afraid.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_04: Um don't be afraid and go find someone who knows about it and just ask them to give you Bitcoin or show you how to get it and and just let it be disdemystified.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_02: I love that um have some fun.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_02: You know, um life is better when it's fun um lighten up a little bit, right?
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_02: And and be curious, like become like a little kid again, enjoy yourself, right?
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_02: Um and it it's so fun to be curious.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_02: I love learning.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_02: Um if you can just learn to to enjoy this and and give yourself time, you know, like we started like a fitness journey a couple years ago, and the thing that really helped me was I gave myself permission to suck.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_02: I think I lost like twenty five to thirty pounds over the course of a year or two and it was off.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_02: But I we had done stuff before and it just never stuck.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_02: But I feel like the thing that really changed that for me was I gave myself permission to just not be good, right?
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_02: And my goal was just it's a little bit of progress.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_02: There's like this Jocko Willink inspirational video.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_02: It's like just a little bit of progress, it's all you need, you're going in the right direction, right?
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_02: And so on those days it didn't feel like it, or it felt like burdensome or it felt like my brain is broken, whatever.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_02: Um my encouragement would be just dude, if you're making a little bit of progress, that's success, right?
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_02: And those little wins add up.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_02: And I think that's the biggest thing, right?
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_02: All the little plebs added together change the world.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_02: Keep showing up.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_02: And if you make this much progress, then you made it that much further.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_02: And if you put enough of these together, you're miles down the road, right?
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_02: And so make it fun, be present in the journey, and just a little bit of progress every day.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_02: You'll be surprised at how far you can get.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_02: Amazing.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_00: That's so good, Luke.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_02: So good.

- 1:04:17SPEAKER_03: It's so helpful.
