- 0:00Aloha. Tuesday morning. I'm Mele with what's happening in Hawaiʻi today.
- 1:21Moderate trade winds today with scattered showers on the windward side and in the mountains. Leeward areas stay mostly dry—solid conditions for snorkeling and beach time on the lee side. Winds ease starting tomorrow and keep dropping through Friday, becoming quite light.
- 1:34Surf is moderate on Oʻahu's south shore and small on the north shore—comfortable for swimmers and snorkelers. Maui's running small, and the Big Island is glassy. Kauaʻi is seeing moderate waves. A large south-southwest swell arrives Sunday and builds hard, bringing dangerous conditions to south-facing beaches through early next week.
- 1:51Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park has several sections closed—Kahuku Unit Roads, Kīpukapuaulu Trail due to hazardous trees, and the Lava Tube Bridge under replacement. The park remains on advisory alert for volcanic ash if you're heading to the summit.
- 2:03Our new piece on Hawaiʻi beach restrooms and facilities guides you to the spots with showers, lifeguards, and parking. If you're planning leeward beach days this week—which are looking good through Wednesday—knowing what each beach has beats scrambling once you're there. It saves time and frustration.
- 2:18Wednesday winds drop further, Thursday afternoon showers increase even on leeward shores, and Sunday brings the lightest winds of the week before the swell kicks in hard that night.
- 2:27Our beach facilities guide is on the site if you're heading to the water. See you tomorrow.
