- 0:00Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. It is a Thursday. Does it feel
- 0:03Speaker 1: like Friday at all to you?
- 0:04Speaker 2: It's felt like Friday for a couple of days.
- 0:06Speaker 1: For some reason, it feels like Friday.
- 0:08Speaker 2: This week has been Friday since Monday.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Thank you. I'm not alone. Cubby, Christine, and Kristen, and
- 0:15Speaker 1: welcome to a brand new day. It is 6.09. I
- 0:17Speaker 1: have a question for you because this happened last night
- 0:20Speaker 1: at our house. And my wife said something to me,
- 0:23Speaker 1: but I'm going to ask the question here. No matter
- 0:25Speaker 1: how good you brush your teeth at night, won't your
- 0:29Speaker 1: breath still smell the next morning, no matter how good
- 0:33Speaker 1: you brush it? Because my wife, so Miles and Naomi,
- 0:36Speaker 1: they brush their teeth on their own, but I used
- 0:38Speaker 1: to supervise. Lately, I haven't because they've been doing it
- 0:42Speaker 1: pretty good. Yeah. Well, Coco said to me last night, honey,
- 0:45Speaker 1: you really got to just sit, stand next to Miles
- 0:48Speaker 1: and stand next to Naomi when they do their teeth
- 0:50Speaker 1: because in the morning lately, their breath has been really bad. Oh. Now,
- 0:54Speaker 1: I didn't say this to her, but in my mind,
- 0:56Speaker 1: I'm like, You could brush your teeth for five minutes
- 0:59Speaker 1: at night. Won't you still be stanky in the morning?
- 1:04Speaker 2: I think you always have morning breath.
- 1:07Speaker 1: No matter what, right?
- 1:08Speaker 2: It sounds, but she noticed a difference. Like when you
- 1:11Speaker 2: used to monitor and now that you don't, there's a difference.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Correct. And I didn't want to start a fight by going,
- 1:18Speaker 1: I don't think that makes a big difference. I just,
- 1:21Speaker 1: you know, what a husband should do. Shut up. Don't
- 1:26Speaker 1: say anything.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Just do it.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Just do it.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:30Speaker 1: So now... Well, this is like a little test.
- 1:32Speaker 2: A little test run. Do it and see if it
- 1:34Speaker 2: makes a difference.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And see if she actually says, you know, their breath
- 1:36Speaker 1: has been smelling better in the morning.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Producer Kristen, you do that with your kids?
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yeah. Do you supervise? I know you... So Kristen can't talk.
- 1:43Speaker 2: And they're a little younger, so.
- 1:45Speaker 1: You supervise the whole thing? Okay.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And do you think it makes a difference for their
- 1:48Speaker 2: morning breath?
- 1:49Speaker 1: Because I don't smell their morning breath because I'm here. Yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 1: you don't think it makes a difference. See, again, when you're...
- 1:56Speaker 1: sleeping all night. I don't care what you did the
- 1:58Speaker 1: night before. It gets ranky. I know.
- 2:00Speaker 2: And in the movies, people always wake up and they
- 2:02Speaker 2: kiss and you're like, oh, no, no, no, no, no.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Anyway, so there's a slice of life of our house.
- 2:09Speaker 1: And how about your house, Christine? Now you have butterflies
- 2:14Speaker 1: in your stomach today. And tell us why.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Because I have a very special guest coming over today
- 2:19Speaker 2: and I'm so excited to see him. His name is
- 2:22Speaker 2: Melanio Gomez. He's an interior designer. He used to work
- 2:26Speaker 2: with Martha Stewart. And remember, I worked with Martha for
- 2:28Speaker 2: a while, so we became friends. We haven't seen each
- 2:31Speaker 2: other for a while. We've reconnected. He's got a podcast.
- 2:35Speaker 2: He invited me onto his podcast, which I am greatly honored.
- 2:38Speaker 2: But he's going to stop by my house today just
- 2:41Speaker 2: to help me with some decor and still choosing the
- 2:44Speaker 2: last paint colors.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Okay. Okay. So I know you. And like most of us,
- 2:49Speaker 1: we get really nervous before our friends come over.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Because you want to be perfect.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Even the housekeeper. Yes. But this guy, this guy, you
- 2:57Speaker 1: want to go beyond perfect. This guy.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Have you seen Pottery Barn? Have you seen Garnet Hill?
- 3:03Speaker 2: That's him. Melanio Gomez. That's that's his designs. Like, that's
- 3:07Speaker 2: how beautiful like I those are like my dream catalogs.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I look at that and wish for that. And then
- 3:12Speaker 2: he works with celebrities and he's coming over to like
- 3:15Speaker 2: our little town home that.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Oh, so you're going to open the door. Yes. And
- 3:20Speaker 1: he's going to be looking around. And what is your
- 3:23Speaker 1: goal with him?
- 3:24Speaker 2: He's such a kind person. My goal is to go,
- 3:27Speaker 2: I'm sorry, immediately and explain what's wrong with my house.
- 3:30Speaker 1: And then he'll tell you.
- 3:31Speaker 2: And then bring him in. Okay.
- 3:33Speaker 1: He'll help with like what? Paint colors? Yes. A vision
- 3:36Speaker 1: of things?
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yes. Because I want to be really sure. I've been
- 3:39Speaker 2: holding off. I think I'm there with the paint colors
- 3:41Speaker 2: like for the main areas of the house. Really, really
- 3:43Speaker 2: want to be sure before I commit to this. So
- 3:46Speaker 2: he's coming in to help me with that. And there's
- 3:48Speaker 2: things that... That I wanted to change in the house.
- 3:51Speaker 2: And they're a little challenging. Some design ideas.
- 3:54Speaker 1: This is exciting, though.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Melania, I hope you have a lot of patience.
- 3:57Speaker 1: What time is he coming over?
- 3:58Speaker 2: He's coming over at noon.
- 4:00Speaker 1: All right. Are you prepared? Like, if he showed up early,
- 4:02Speaker 1: are you ready to go now?
- 4:04Speaker 2: No. When I leave work, Cubby, I'm going to run
- 4:06Speaker 2: and I'm just going to, like, throw everything in closets
- 4:09Speaker 2: and cabinets.
- 4:10Speaker 1: We get off the air at 10 o'clock.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You'll be leaving here at 9.59.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I'm running for my life.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Maybe 9.57. Yeah. Okay. Good luck today.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 4:17Speaker 1: And tomorrow morning this time, we'll catch up on how
- 4:19Speaker 1: it went.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Thank you. All right, Light FM, we're coming right back.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Thank you for waking up with us.
- 4:23Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I need to tell you two things.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Cubby and Christine's.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Two pretty cool things.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I find it extremely cool that for the first time
- 4:38Speaker 1: in its history... Japan has more than 100,000 people over
- 4:43Speaker 1: the age of 100.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Wow.
- 4:44Speaker 1: And nearly 90% of them are women. It's something about
- 4:50Speaker 1: the water there.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 4:52Speaker 2: And the diet.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And the diet. They're eating good over there. Yeah. All right.
- 4:55Speaker 1: So way to go, all our Japanese friends. My wife
- 4:57Speaker 1: is Japanese. So if this holds true, she'll be hanging
- 5:01Speaker 1: around for a while.
- 5:02Speaker 2: That's great. We like Coco.
- 5:03Speaker 1: We do. Don't leave me, Coco. All right. What is
- 5:07Speaker 1: your cool thing, Christine?
- 5:08Speaker 2: Well, Merriam-Webster Dictionary every year comes out with their list
- 5:12Speaker 2: of new words. We have the new words. We can
- 5:14Speaker 2: talk about that in a bit. But they've got this
- 5:17Speaker 2: really cool feature on their website called Time Travel. And
- 5:20Speaker 2: what you can do is look up the year you
- 5:22Speaker 2: were born and see all the words that were added
- 5:25Speaker 2: to the dictionary that year. All the words that were
- 5:28Speaker 2: new in that year. It's really, really fun from pop
- 5:32Speaker 2: culture terms to technology buzzwords. Like I'm going all the
- 5:35Speaker 2: way back to 1942 right now. And they just came
- 5:39Speaker 2: up with the word carb, which haunts me to this day.
- 5:42Speaker 1: That was a brand new word in 42.
- 5:43Speaker 2: They were like carbs.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 5:45Speaker 2: And carpool. It's just bebop. I told you, I think
- 5:50Speaker 2: it was 1957 or something. One hit wonder. Like, it's
- 5:54Speaker 2: a lot of fun.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Just looking at your words. Producer Kristen was born in 87.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Is it easy for you to toggle to 87 or
- 6:00Speaker 1: is it too hard right now?
- 6:01Speaker 2: Let me see how fast.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I'm in the 40s. Okay. If you can't do it,
- 6:03Speaker 1: that's okay. So it's on Merriam-Webster's website, right? Yes.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And the tool is called Time Travel.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Time Travel.
- 6:10Speaker 2: And wait, we have Kristen, what year did she say?
- 6:13Speaker 1: 87.
- 6:13Speaker 2: 1987.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Please stand by.
- 6:14Speaker 3: No, I'm not.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Do, do, do, do. Text us your birth year right now.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Have a little music. Kristen gets Blank Check Company. Blank Check.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Blank Check, baby. And I'll write your name.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Oh.
- 6:27Speaker 2: You get the word. Oh, Generation X. Hello.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Started in 87? Okay.
- 6:32Speaker 2: That's when we put the word into the dictionary. Let's see.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Kristen gets Lipo. That's up there with my card.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I heard Kristen gets Lipo.
- 6:41Speaker 2: All right, this is cool. Off-label, potty-mouthed, snark.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Snark.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Techno. Wake and bake, whack-a-mole, single prayer, bomb cyclone. You've
- 6:54Speaker 2: got some fun stuff.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I love that.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Acid washed. Oh, that's okay. You don't need to know
- 6:59Speaker 2: about that.
- 6:59Speaker 1: That was the time, Sarah, 1987.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you can skip those.
- 7:02Speaker 1: All right, this has been two pretty cool things. The
- 7:05Speaker 1: more you know, the further you go.
- 7:09Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Light FM, Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen, you were talking during
- 7:17Speaker 1: two pretty cool things about how you can go back
- 7:20Speaker 1: to a time capsule and find out what words were
- 7:24Speaker 1: added to the Merriam Dictionary. Yeah. So, like, you go
- 7:26Speaker 1: back to 1990 or 1988, it tells you what words
- 7:30Speaker 1: were new. Like, word to your mother.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Was big in 1988.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:35Speaker 1: And then Vanilla Ice did Ice Ice Baby and said
- 7:37Speaker 1: word to your mother in 1990. So that was fun.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 1: So what's going in this year, Christine?
- 7:42Speaker 2: It's great, Cubby, because like you said, it is like
- 7:44Speaker 2: a time capsule. So this year, Merriam-Webster is adding some
- 7:47Speaker 2: new terms. And they say a lot of it has
- 7:49Speaker 2: to do with pop culture, social media, new tech. We're
- 7:54Speaker 2: getting entries like vibe coding, parasocial, Rick Roll, yacht rock,
- 8:00Speaker 2: and Sunday scaries.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I'm surprised Rick Roll... Is just going in now.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Is just going in now.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Because we've been saying it for like 15, 20 years. Yep.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And the other surprising one, what was after Rickroll? You
- 8:11Speaker 1: mentioned something after Rickroll?
- 8:13Speaker 2: Yacht Rock.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yacht Rock.
- 8:14Speaker 2: That's been around a while, too.
- 8:15Speaker 1: That term has been around to me for a long
- 8:16Speaker 1: time as well, like 20 years or so.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Sunday Scaries. Oh, that's been real for all our life.
- 8:22Speaker 2: For food additions, we have Bao, Chili Crisp, and Superfood.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Other new additions, Cuffing Season.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Love Cuffing Season.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I know it. California Sober. I think that's where you
- 8:36Speaker 2: allow yourself a bit.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Glow up.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Promposal. AGI, artificial general intelligence. Looks maxing.
- 8:46Speaker 1: What's that mean? Anybody know that? Looks maxing? Is that
- 8:48Speaker 1: maximizing your looks?
- 8:50Speaker 2: I mean, it sounds, yeah. It's like going to, yes.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Like when it shows a little picture, it shows a
- 8:54Speaker 2: guy on Instagram and his hair is all done and
- 8:56Speaker 2: his skin looks perfect. And yeah, like making the most
- 8:59Speaker 2: of it. Limerence. I don't know. Mandela effect.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I do know because I looked it up. It's a
- 9:08Speaker 2: strange concept. Shapewear. I thought we had that one because
- 9:12Speaker 2: Spanx and stuff have been around.
- 9:15Speaker 1: A long time. Shapewear is just going in in 2026.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Just going in.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Really? Yeah. Fascinating.
- 9:19Speaker 2: But we've been utilizing it since, you know.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Since, yeah, beginning of time.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Forever. And neckbeard.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Neckbeard. Do you know what that is?
- 9:27Speaker 2: No.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Let me look it up.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Okay. So we've got a couple. We need to look up.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Look up limerence.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Okay.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Okay.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Neck beard. Uh-oh. Uh-oh.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Kristen's showing us it's that fashion where the guy doesn't
- 9:39Speaker 2: have anything on the chin or above the mouth.
- 9:42Speaker 1: It doesn't connect to a mustache or anything.
- 9:44Speaker 2: It literally is just around the jawline. Oh.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Neck beard.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Oh.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I can't imagine the crumbs in that thing and all
- 9:54Speaker 1: the dirty food in there.
- 9:56Speaker 2: If you have one, I love you.
- 10:00Speaker 1: 44363, what's on your mind? Text us. Light FM.
- 10:02Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine and the great music variety you
- 10:05Speaker 3: expect next on Light FM.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen at work on a Thursday morning.
- 10:11Speaker 1: The following toys, Christine, are already in the National Toy
- 10:16Speaker 1: Hall of Fame. But you have the nominees. But let
- 10:18Speaker 1: me tell you what's already in. Just throwing a few
- 10:20Speaker 1: out there. Cabbage Patch Kids. They're already in. Barbie. Already in. Battleship.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Already in. Baseball Cards. Frisbee. Easy Bake Oven. Dungeons and Dragons.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Nerds.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Yo-Yo. Crayola Crayons. Already in. Etch-A-Sketch. Mr. Potato Head. I
- 10:37Speaker 1: could go on and on and on. They're in. They're fine.
- 10:40Speaker 2: They deserve to be there.
- 10:41Speaker 1: But the toys you're about to mention... are nominated but
- 10:45Speaker 1: not in yet. We've got to vote for them.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Let's see if they'll make it in this year for
- 10:48Speaker 2: the National Toy Hall of Fame. The Strong's National Toy
- 10:53Speaker 2: Hall of Fame in Rochester, New York, has announced the
- 10:56Speaker 2: 12 finalists for the induction into the hall. They are Bingo,
- 11:01Speaker 2: Bop It, Care Bears, Mahjong, which lately is all the rage.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Mahjong.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Monster High Dolls, Mousetrap, Pokemon Trading Card Game, Polly Pocket, Slide. Sorry.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Oh, the game Sorry?
- 11:17Speaker 2: Uh-huh. Tickle Me Elmo. Wasn't in there yet. And Yahtzee.
- 11:23Speaker 1: There you go, your finalist. You know, put them all in.
- 11:25Speaker 1: They're all fine. Is there a limit? You know, I
- 11:29Speaker 1: don't know if there's a limit.
- 11:30Speaker 2: But heck. You know, it's just a certain few make
- 11:32Speaker 2: it every year.
- 11:33Speaker 1: The only one I can't really, like, grasp, I don't
- 11:37Speaker 1: know what Monster High Dolls is. Monster High Dolls?
- 11:40Speaker 2: Oh, oh, super popular. Sorry, for the girls. I guess Naomi,
- 11:44Speaker 2: she's a little young for it.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, Tickle Me Elmo. Gosh, Christine. We were, I think,
- 11:50Speaker 1: working in radio when the buzz on that was going on.
- 11:54Speaker 2: That was like one of our prizes I think we
- 11:57Speaker 2: would give away at Christmas.
- 11:58Speaker 1: That was a big deal to get one. You couldn't
- 11:59Speaker 1: find it. Yeah. Like Cabbage Patch Kids in 84. We
- 12:03Speaker 1: weren't radio then. But I remember the video of people
- 12:06Speaker 1: running to the stores and news footage of parents walking
- 12:11Speaker 1: shoving other parents to the ground to get a Cabbage
- 12:13Speaker 1: Patch Kid.
- 12:14Speaker 2: It's almost like trying to get the Snoopy cup at Starbucks. Yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Oh, are you still searching for that?
- 12:19Speaker 2: No, no, I don't. You know, if I don't get
- 12:22Speaker 2: it on the day of the release, I'm not going
- 12:23Speaker 2: on eBay. It's going for like two and three times.
- 12:26Speaker 1: But if there's a Starbucks nearby you, would you like
- 12:29Speaker 1: check back every couple of days to see.
- 12:31Speaker 2: If they're not?
- 12:32Speaker 1: It's just it's gone.
- 12:33Speaker 2: It's over. You know, I just have to accept it.
- 12:37Speaker 1: You're really sad.
- 12:37Speaker 2: They don't restock them.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Well, You know what you're getting for Christmas. Oh, really?
- 12:44Speaker 2: No, I don't, but I guess I do now.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Remember I came through about two years ago, you were
- 12:48Speaker 1: looking for something, and we were so excited we found it.
- 12:50Speaker 1: It was some kind of, oh my gosh, what was it?
- 12:53Speaker 2: It was a Tiffany cup.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Tiffany cup, thank you. And you couldn't find it? Yeah.
- 12:58Speaker 2: And I remember- That's really fancy.
- 13:00Speaker 1: We found it like in November. And we're like, oh,
- 13:02Speaker 1: my goodness.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Oh, you guys are smart.
- 13:04Speaker 1: We got lucky.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 13:05Speaker 1: So who knows what you're going to be getting for Christmas.
- 13:08Speaker 1: And don't forget, everybody, Christine Nagy's birthday, December 26th. Thanks, guys.
- 13:12Speaker 1: And producer Kristen is December 29th.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Yes.
- 13:14Speaker 1: So I want a bunch of love coming to my
- 13:16Speaker 1: ladies here.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Thank you. We are the forgotten Christmas babies.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I know. I think about you all the time.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Somebody stole her thunder.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I know. Darn, Santa. What do you have coming up
- 13:24Speaker 1: in the news?
- 13:26Speaker 2: Well, if it's hard for a woman to say no,
- 13:28Speaker 2: and a lot of times it is, psychologists say this
- 13:31Speaker 2: is a way that's going to help you do it.
- 13:32Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Oh, good morning, Christine.
- 13:38Speaker 2: And good morning, Covey. Well, the president says the Kennedy
- 13:41Speaker 2: Center will be, quote, ripped down if he's not recognized
- 13:44Speaker 2: for renovations. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts opened in
- 13:47Speaker 2: 1971 in Washington, D.C., as a living memorial to the
- 13:51Speaker 2: late President Kennedy. Last year, Congress appropriated over $ 250 million
- 13:56Speaker 2: for its renovation. A federal judge blocked the center from
- 13:59Speaker 2: adding Trump's name to the building. The House has passed
- 14:02Speaker 2: a bill that would require AM radio to be included
- 14:06Speaker 2: as standard equipment in new vehicles. Supporters say AM radio
- 14:10Speaker 2: remains an important source of local news, emergency information, especially
- 14:14Speaker 2: when cell phones or Internet disruptions are at play. Dozens
- 14:20Speaker 2: of local governments and councils have already scrambled this year
- 14:24Speaker 2: to pass full or partial bans on AI centers in
- 14:28Speaker 2: New Jersey. And now the state is getting involved and
- 14:31Speaker 2: introducing a bill that would place a six-month moratorium on
- 14:36Speaker 2: the AI data center so more research can be done.
- 14:39Speaker 2: The 100th annual San Gennaro Festival gets underway today in
- 14:44Speaker 2: Little Italy. Just a heads up.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Let's eat.
- 14:47Speaker 2: UN General Assembly also gets underway. That starts next week.
- 14:50Speaker 2: That's when we start to warn you about gridlock and
- 14:52Speaker 2: frozen zones.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Let's be stuck in traffic.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Yes, there's that. Sports, baseball, Yankees lost to the Twins 5-4.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Mets lost to the Orioles 7-1. Tonight, the Lions played
- 15:01Speaker 2: the Bills in Buffalo. And you see that on Amazon.
- 15:05Speaker 2: And a lot of women have a hard time saying
- 15:07Speaker 2: no to their kids, bosses, friends, whoever needs us. So
- 15:11Speaker 2: if you need to say no more often, this is
- 15:13Speaker 2: a tip from psychologists. Not yes. While you're saying no,
- 15:18Speaker 2: they say it sounds crazy, but it works. When you
- 15:20Speaker 2: nod your head as you talk, it empowers you to
- 15:23Speaker 2: stay firm in what you're saying.
- 15:26Speaker 1: We should try that.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Nod your head yes.
- 15:27Speaker 1: We have a big meeting later today.
- 15:29Speaker 2: No, we can't make it. We can't.
- 15:32Speaker 1: We're both doing it in here. It doesn't look right.
- 15:35Speaker 3: No.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Maybe like if you're on the phone and having a conversation.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:39Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Next on Light FM. 106.7 Light FM. Good morning. It's Covey.
- 15:47Speaker 2: It's Christine. Producer Kristen. Just in here. Discussing relationships. Yes.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Because there's this little research study about the sweet spot
- 15:56Speaker 2: for long-term success in a relationship as far as the
- 15:59Speaker 2: age gap is concerned. And all of us, I don't
- 16:03Speaker 2: know if we fit into this exactly, but our relationships
- 16:07Speaker 2: are working. So I'm sharing this with you and saying
- 16:10Speaker 2: take it with a grain of salt. The study is
- 16:12Speaker 2: finding that between zero and three years is the perfect
- 16:16Speaker 2: age gap for a relationship to last long-term success. Lesser
- 16:21Speaker 2: chance of divorce rates.
- 16:22Speaker 1: That's a lower number than I thought because I'm happily
- 16:25Speaker 1: married and we're 10 years apart in age. I'm not
- 16:29Speaker 1: saying like our difference is what everyone should be, but
- 16:33Speaker 1: I thought.
- 16:34Speaker 2: But it's working.
- 16:35Speaker 1: But it's working.
- 16:35Speaker 2: It's working for you.
- 16:36Speaker 1: I thought 10 would be kind of, I thought it'd
- 16:37Speaker 1: be a higher number basically, like seven or eight.
- 16:39Speaker 2: No, they don't give you that. And that's Kristen with
- 16:42Speaker 2: her husband. They're seven years apart. Seven years. And, you know,
- 16:46Speaker 2: they're doing well. I don't want to whammy anybody in
- 16:48Speaker 2: this room.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 16:49Speaker 2: But you guys are doing really well.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Good.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Having beautiful relationships and kids, and it's all going well.
- 16:56Speaker 2: The reason that's cited in this that it might not
- 16:59Speaker 2: go well if there's a bigger age gap is because
- 17:01Speaker 2: basically you're not on the same page. You want to
- 17:03Speaker 2: have the same views on money, health, careers, kids, retirements.
- 17:07Speaker 2: So the bigger the age gap, the more chance that
- 17:10Speaker 2: you're wanting things at different times.
- 17:12Speaker 1: It didn't work out for Martha Ray and Mark Harris.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Remember that?
- 17:17Speaker 2: You've got to help me here. What reference is that?
- 17:19Speaker 1: I know that was a very deep cut. Martha Ray.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Remember the old actress did denture commercials before she passed? Okay.
- 17:28Speaker 1: And she married this publicist named Mark Harris.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Oh.
- 17:31Speaker 1: And they were 33 years apart.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Martha Ray. And people said- that he married her for
- 17:38Speaker 1: the money. And he pretty much did, kind of. But
- 17:42Speaker 1: he was saying how much he loved her. And if
- 17:44Speaker 1: I showed you YouTube videos, it would bring back some memories,
- 17:47Speaker 1: I think.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Because people thought this guy was kind of a whack job.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Uh-oh.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Because, you know, it was clear that he was with
- 17:54Speaker 1: Martha Ray for the money.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 1: But I don't even know what he's doing.
- 17:58Speaker 2: What ultimately happened.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Well, she died.
- 18:00Speaker 2: That's a problem.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Yeah, okay. When you marry someone a little bit too old,
- 18:04Speaker 1: there's that chance. But she passed away in 19. Oh,
- 18:07Speaker 1: here it is. Martha Ray, born in 1916. Mark Harris,
- 18:09Speaker 1: born in 1949. When they married in September 1991, Ray
- 18:10Speaker 1: was 75 years old. Harris was 42 years old, making
- 18:11Speaker 1: him roughly 33 years her junior.
- 18:13Speaker 2: So, yeah.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Martha Ray. Didn't work out. Well, maybe it did work out.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Well, we don't know because you said she passed.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Right, she passed.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Was she happy when she passed?
- 18:29Speaker 1: I don't know if it was going well when she
- 18:30Speaker 1: passed or if it was falling apart.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Like you said, this is a deep dive. We just
- 18:35Speaker 2: don't have these details. I mean, we see it in
- 18:38Speaker 2: Hollywood all the time, don't we? But usually it's the actor,
- 18:42Speaker 2: the man, who's older and the woman who's a lot younger.
- 18:46Speaker 2: And again, it's like I promise you no judgment whatsoever.
- 18:51Speaker 2: It's like Love is love. Whatever works for you. It's just,
- 18:54Speaker 2: I think, if you're aligned. If you're both wanting the
- 18:56Speaker 2: same thing at the same time. It doesn't matter if
- 18:59Speaker 2: you're 15 years apart. But you're both, I don't know,
- 19:02Speaker 2: wanting to get a house together or wanting to have kids.
- 19:04Speaker 2: You're just, that part is so important.
- 19:06Speaker 1: You'd be a good therapist.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Oh, thanks.
- 19:08Speaker 1: And now a Martha Ray Polyden commercial from 1981. Are
- 19:14Speaker 1: you ready? Here's the audio. Martha Ray. Here we go.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Is it playing? That's not working. You know, when I
- 19:22Speaker 1: clown in front of that camera, this big smile needs
- 19:26Speaker 1: something extra. Extra Strength Polydine Green. It gets my dentures
- 19:30Speaker 1: sparkling clean.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Watch.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Tough lab stains. Now you remember her? Now, Extra Strength
- 19:35Speaker 1: Polydine is fantastic.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Gets tough stains clean, even in between. So take it
- 19:41Speaker 2: from a big mouth.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Extra Strength Polydine Green gets tough stains clean.
- 19:45Speaker 2: I think, like, she was a character actress, maybe 40s, 50s,
- 19:48Speaker 2: or something like that.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Yes. she ended up doing commercials and stuff like that.
- 19:52Speaker 3: All right.
- 19:52Speaker 1: If you remember Martha Ray or if you just have a...
- 19:56Speaker 1: What is your gap? What is the age gap in
- 19:58Speaker 1: your relationship? We want to hear from you.
- 20:00Speaker 2: And does it matter?
- 20:01Speaker 1: And does it matter? Yes.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Let us know if it matters.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Can you text us? Because so far we've been on
- 20:05Speaker 1: the air for about an hour and a half and
- 20:07Speaker 1: no one's texted us. 4-4-3-6-3. I don't know if anybody's
- 20:11Speaker 1: tuned in, really. 4-4-3-6-3. Are you listening? Are you awake?
- 20:15Speaker 1: Do you have a heartbeat?
- 20:17Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 20:22Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 20:24Speaker 3: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Well, well, well. Just like that, Christine. It's Thursday. We
- 20:31Speaker 1: got another Trivia Battle on our hands. We got Mary
- 20:34Speaker 1: on Team Cubby from Levittown. Mary, good morning. Can I
- 20:37Speaker 1: ask what you do for a living?
- 20:39Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Actually, funny you should ask.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I just retired this year from the school.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I was a teaching assistant.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Oh, and congratulations.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Yeah, does it feel weird not to be working in
- 20:49Speaker 1: school season starting? It does feel a little bit weird,
- 20:52Speaker 1: but the weather's still nice, so I'm just enjoying it.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Nice.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Good for you, Mary. All right, who is on Team Christine?
- 20:58Speaker 2: Danielle, right here in New York City. Good morning, Danielle.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Good morning.
- 21:03Speaker 2: What are you up to today?
- 21:05Speaker 1: I'm on my way to work. I actually just parked
- 21:07Speaker 1: outside a little bit early, so I figured I'd give
- 21:10Speaker 1: you guys a call.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Okay, thank you.
- 21:12Speaker 1: And Mary's laughing, going, I'm retired. Lucky her. Good luck
- 21:20Speaker 1: to you both. Mary, you'll get three questions. Danielle and
- 21:22Speaker 1: Team Christine will get three questions. Best out of three
- 21:25Speaker 1: will win our trivia battle. Mary.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Mary.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Here is question number one for you. American Idol is
- 21:30Speaker 1: leaving Hollywood and moving to which major city? We talked
- 21:34Speaker 1: about this yesterday. A, Philadelphia, B, New York City, or C, Atlanta?
- 21:38Speaker 1: It's Atlanta. It is Atlanta. And you are up 1-0.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Okay, Danielle, the Jonas brother who's married to Priyanka Chopra
- 21:47Speaker 2: just celebrated his birthday. Which one is that? A, Nick, B, Joe,
- 21:52Speaker 2: or C, Kevin? C, Kevin. No, I'm sorry. It's Nick.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Over to Mary. Mary, in the year 2000, which former
- 22:03Speaker 1: Saturday Night Live cast member joined Al Michaels and Dan
- 22:07Speaker 1: Fouts in the Monday Night Football booth? Was it A,
- 22:10Speaker 1: Dennis Miller, B, Chris Rock, or C, David Spade? I'm
- 22:16Speaker 1: going to say A. Dennis Miller. Some people loved him.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Some people hated him. I thought he was pretty good.
- 22:22Speaker 1: But Mary, you're right. Two nothings. Okay, Danielle.
- 22:26Speaker 2: What streaming network carries Thursday Night Football? Is it A,
- 22:29Speaker 2: Amazon Prime, B, ESPN Plus, or C, Apple TV Plus?
- 22:36Speaker 2: That's a tough one. I think it's Prime. Amazon Prime?
- 22:41Speaker 2: You would be correct.
- 22:42Speaker 1: And that means Danielle holds off elimination there. Yes, yes. Okay,
- 22:46Speaker 1: so Mary, you're leading 2-1, but you can win it
- 22:49Speaker 1: if you get this right, Mary. Which of these actresses
- 22:53Speaker 1: is Ryan Felipe's ex-wife. Is it A, Reese Witherspoon, B,
- 22:58Speaker 1: Jennifer Lawrence, or C, Emma Stone?
- 23:02Speaker 2: It's Reese Witherspoon.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yes, it is. Three for three for Mary.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Mary takes the game. Sorry, Danielle, we wouldn't be able
- 23:09Speaker 2: to come back with the next question, but you know
- 23:11Speaker 2: you can always call us and play again.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Yes, thank you. And have a great day at work.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Thank you. And then, Mary, this is perfect for you.
- 23:19Speaker 2: You've got tickets to NYC's Ultimate Food and Wine Experience
- 23:23Speaker 2: on Saturday, October 17th or Sunday, October 18th at the
- 23:27Speaker 2: NYC Wine and Food Festival.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Oh, that's awesome. I've been before. It's great.
- 23:31Speaker 2: It really is great. Yeah.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Thank you so much. More Covey and Christine. And the
- 23:35Speaker 3: great music variety you expect.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Next on Light FM.
- 23:38Speaker 1: And on the radio with us tomorrow morning at this
- 23:41Speaker 1: very moment, 24 hours from right now, Clay Aiken will
- 23:45Speaker 1: be live in studio. We'll catch up with him, play
- 23:47Speaker 1: some new music, talk about the old days.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:50Speaker 1: That's going to be fun.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Cubby, Christine, Kristen hanging out with you. It is Light FM.
- 23:54Speaker 1: And are you ready? It is that time of the week, Christine.
- 23:58Speaker 1: We try to do it on Thursdays because there's a game.
- 24:01Speaker 1: The first NFL game of season of, I'm sorry, not
- 24:04Speaker 1: season two, week two is tonight. And we got Buffalo
- 24:09Speaker 1: playing in their brand new stadium. And who are they
- 24:11Speaker 1: playing again?
- 24:12Speaker 2: Detroit.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Detroit. Nobody in this room is picking them in the
- 24:16Speaker 1: NFL Survivor Pool this week, right? Right. Okay. But wanted
- 24:19Speaker 1: to throw it out there. There is a game tonight.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And if you don't know what a survivor pool is,
- 24:22Speaker 1: it's a season-long contest where you pick one NFL team
- 24:25Speaker 1: to win straight up each week. One single wrong choice.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:29Speaker 1: You're eliminated. Except for our team, we're playing with two strikes. Okay.
- 24:34Speaker 1: So if you miss one, you can hang in there
- 24:36Speaker 1: another week.
- 24:36Speaker 2: You mean another chance.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Thank you. But here's the story before we get to
- 24:40Speaker 1: our picks. Kristen, who won last year, if she misses
- 24:44Speaker 1: this week, She's done for the year because she missed
- 24:47Speaker 1: last week.
- 24:47Speaker 2: She can't. She can't be.
- 24:49Speaker 1: She's already burned a strike. We need her in it.
- 24:50Speaker 1: So here we go. Oh, wow. This week's picks. Yes. Christine,
- 24:54Speaker 1: who are you going with?
- 24:56Speaker 2: Cubby, I am going with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over
- 25:00Speaker 2: the Browns. All right.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Pretty good choice, actually.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 25:05Speaker 1: But not an animal, which.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Is weird for you.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I know.
- 25:06Speaker 2: I deviated. I was leaning towards another team because I
- 25:11Speaker 2: wanted an animal, but I want a team that I know...
- 25:15Speaker 2: Like I'll be okay later in the season.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Yes. I think that's a good choice. All right.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 25:19Speaker 1: And Kristen supports you too.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Thank you, Kristen.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Kristen cannot speak, but we can tell you who she picked.
- 25:27Speaker 1: 49ers over Dolphins. Is that correct? Give me an odd yes.
- 25:29Speaker 1: I got that right? Okay. So if the 49ers beat
- 25:32Speaker 1: the Dolphins, Kristen's fine this week. But if the Dolphins
- 25:35Speaker 1: pull off an upset? Yeah. Oh. it's just me and
- 25:40Speaker 1: Christine and no more Kristen.
- 25:42Speaker 2: And Kristen's buying breakfast.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Uh-huh. A big one.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Early on.
- 25:45Speaker 1: A big old fat breakfast. And for me, I'm going,
- 25:49Speaker 1: I probably shouldn't take Philly this early in the season,
- 25:52Speaker 1: but I'm taking Philly over Tennessee. The Eagles over Tennessee.
- 25:56Speaker 1: I just want to relax this weekend because last weekend
- 26:00Speaker 1: I picked Detroit over New Orleans and Detroit almost blew
- 26:03Speaker 1: it and I was stressing out.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it was close.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Yeah. So I want to be able to breathe this weekend.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Philly over Tennessee. And there you go. Those are our
- 26:10Speaker 1: picks in the NFL Survivor Pool. You feeling pretty good, Christine?
- 26:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Sure. Actually, I don't know if you feel confident now.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 26:19Speaker 1: All right.
- 26:19Speaker 2: I don't know. I didn't pick an animal. I deviated,
- 26:21Speaker 2: but okay.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Good luck to you.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Oh, hi there. I'm Cubby. That's Christine. And behold the
- 26:32Speaker 1: traitor's new blood. For the first time, Emmy-winning host Alan Cumming...
- 26:38Speaker 1: opens his infamous castle doors to 22 everyday Americans. From
- 26:43Speaker 1: among them, he will choose who will play as traitors
- 26:48Speaker 1: and who must survive as faithful.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Now to celebrate the treachery and deceit, Caller 10 is
- 26:54Speaker 2: going to win $ 500 at 800-222-1067. The Traitor's New Blood
- 27:01Speaker 2: debuts with a special two-hour extended premiere tonight. At 8,
- 27:06Speaker 2: only on NBC New York. A word of caution. Don't
- 27:10Speaker 2: be late.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Behold the traitors. New blood. This is so exciting.
- 27:14Speaker 2: I know, but wait, there's more.
- 27:15Speaker 1: But wait, hang on.
- 27:17Speaker 2: There's really great news about the traitors.
- 27:19Speaker 1: There's more.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Three seasons have been renewed all at once.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Not one, not two.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Three.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Because we love this show so much and it does
- 27:28Speaker 2: so incredibly well for NBC and for Peacock. And this
- 27:31Speaker 2: follows another big Emmy showing for the Traders because Alan
- 27:34Speaker 2: Cumming and the series won for the third consecutive year.
- 27:40Speaker 2: The host won and the show won.
- 27:41Speaker 1: The news just keeps getting better and better with Traders
- 27:46Speaker 1: New Blood.
- 27:47Speaker 2: We'll be watching tonight.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Tonight. And caller number 10, like you said, wins $ 500. 1-800-222-1067.
