Transcript
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: This is Steve Downs, the voice of Master Chief, Spartan 1-1-7.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: With an incoming message for Ryan Green and all, listen to the podcast, it just works.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: Let's finish the fight.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Listen up, Chief, out.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, everyone, and welcome to the JustWorks Podcast.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm your host, Ryan.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: And today we're just going to kind of wing it.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: I hope you guys enjoyed the last episode with Brian where we talked about the Nintendo Direct, the Partner Showcase, kind of following up on Legend's EA and our final thoughts for the game, and it's current state, geez what else do we talk about?
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, like what we hope happens at Pokemon Day for Pokemon Presence, which is next week.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: God, I hope it's good.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: There's been a ton of rumors surrounding Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green and I think that view of amazing and make the most sense to be released on the Switch or Switch 2, depending on how they do the release, because we've ready revisited Red Blue and Yellow on the 3DS virtual console.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see Fire Red and Leaf
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Super biased, it's my favorite Pokemon game of all time.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: However, I actually think there's a ton of people who just haven't played those games, whether they were facing out of Pokemon in that time period, which is historically recorded as a time period that they...
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: the developers thought the franchise was going to go on ice.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: The TCG was at an all-time low.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: The games in like their expectations were low.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I feel like there's a lot of people out there who actually haven't played these games and obviously some that grew up without playing them because of their age or obviously brand new fans who could be the same age I was when they came out.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think that'd be amazing.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: Can I want to start off with that?
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: Just with love for that to happen.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a rumor circulating.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: We also have the Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be this Saturday, the 21st, so massive shout out to the Zelda franchise.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to name my top five favorite Zelda's, if I could.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what yours are if you're listening to this and you're a huge Zelda fan.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to go with Twilight Princess in number one.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, this is tough, but I think I'm going to go tears of the kingdom number, or I'm sorry, Ukraine at a time, 3DS version, because I actually really like that version a lot.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and technically that's the only one I've beaten.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: I am playing the in 64 version, but I have never beaten it.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, number 3 would be tears of the kingdom.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: There's just something about that reveal trailer after like being blown away by Breath of the Wild.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: Seeing the reveal trailer for tears of the kingdom and just the way the story plays out Just going from sky to land to underground and just it's seamlessly doing it to you without loading is just insane to me But I also think like the construct system and the ally system is really cool I like the story and how dark it is even though breath the wild is really dark too
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I put that at number three and then honestly number four is gonna be breath of the wild.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: I mean breath of the wild is just A ridiculous game and Something I'd love to put at number five, which is gonna be kind of outlandish for some people out there
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: but it's another game that back in the day I finished and I played the hell out of it and all of its DLC on the Wii U was a high reward here's the original release actually like before definitive edition I was actually one of the launch owners and I think that game stands the test of time I actually recently bought it for my switch to which is obviously the definitive edition switch edition it runs at 60 frames and actually benefits from the switches to hardware
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: paying homage with some original content to all of the previous Zelda's and every fashion Whether it's music enemies costumes out of our weapons equipment and all that stuff the levels themselves It is amazing pretty sad that I'm like hitting record on this and I got congested out of nowhere or like my nose is being coming away
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's ridiculous, but guys, I am so excited to be recording today because I feel like there's so much to talk about, and I just recently celebrated Valentine's Day with my fiance, we went to Disneyland, and we went to sweetheart's night, because we've done that now two years in a row.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I got admit, not only did I have a fucking amazing time, there was just too many people, it was completely sold out of course, and also last year it rained.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: Not like a heavy rain, but like a constant like heavy drizzle, and then sometimes obviously more than that.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: So it was pretty amazing last time because everything felt so like accessible and like not like the lines weren't so ridiculous Like this time we wanted to start in a tune land because of Mickey and Minnie and get a photo op with them because why not?
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't do it last time so we thought to be cool this time
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: It was still cool, obviously, to take the pictures with them.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, she was so happy and that makes it worth it.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: And before that, she had bought like a Mickey animatronic type of popcorn bucket.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's really badass, actually.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, because of getting the bucket, it's like, no, we kind of have to go take a picture of the real Mickey.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: And the line was an hour and a half long.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: Mind you, if you're unfamiliar, you can get in at 6pm with this event ticket to Disneyland 3 hours early, and then the event starts at 9pm, and basically ends at 1230am.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's technically 1am, but it's heavily implied 1230s that cut off for most things.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: And when you spend an hour and a half in a line one line when there's technically a lot of photo ops and opportunities to just maybe go on some rides or see some different experiences that aren't for just regular ticket holders and just you know the regular day.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: And hour and a half is brutal.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: Thankfully we were able to do almost everything that she wanted to do, which is the most important part.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: But damn, was it crazy to stand in a line for an hour and a half?
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: But we did go see other characters.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously try out some of the food.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: We actually sat down and essentially had a restaurant and had like a little dinner where we shared the plate just because we didn't know if we were gonna like it.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: It was like a New York steak, like more presented like a flame in young.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: And then a crab cake and it came with like, you can do like the bundle essentially and get like the Valentine's Day stuff.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: The dessert, the dessert was fucking incredible.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was so good.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: I know the one that we both Or I actually know I don't think she liked it.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think I liked it more.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: It was like a mango vanilla.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know how to describe it.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: It was delicious.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: It was with like cracked icing.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know how to describe it.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: It was amazing.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: It reminded me of um,
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: What's that, you know, fancy dish where they kind of like burn the sugar on top?
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's gonna bother me that I just forgot that, but it was kind of like, is it cream bully?
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, it was really good and I had a really good time.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: I was tired.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I felt so bad.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: I was like tired like honestly after the whole Mickey thing where walking around was like, oh, I'm tired.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but it was cool.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: We got to meet up with Eric, the casual gamer and his family and my cousin Cheyenne and Go on pire to the Caribbean together, which was so damn cool because it got to go on it with my niece and nephew And everyone just had a really good time the goal they were there all day, but the goal was to at least go on like a ride together and just hang out for a bit and
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, I couldn't be more grateful for that because I thought it worked out really well, and then obviously they took off to go finish their day because they had to go anyways And then me and Savannah went and did our thing and and I thought that was like a really cool way to start the day And I hope that happens next year and every year after that because it was just cool to like meet up with someone Hang out and then go do your own thing and I don't know kind of a fan of that, but just that day was really nice.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: It was really cool to see him Especially since they were there all day
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so I don't know sweet hurts night
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: I got to admit this year was a little rocky just because of like how many people there were and I think we just got really lucky last year again with the weather and and while it sucked up because of the weather for like our photo ops I just think I think actually the photo ops were just better last year like being able to recreate the Han and Leia kiss and the winning in Falcon is is is fucking badass man.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you don't get much better than that and then
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's guest on, right?
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's her favorite Disney princess.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's really cool.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: And then the characters from Atlantis Which I don't I know I've seen it, but I don't remember.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a long time So that was really cool.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: And it was the same place in the end of Jones was that had some really good food got the dull whip got this you know the Valentine's Day version We got the heart rabbioli fried rabbioli.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: That was okay
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, ironically, the thing we both committed to not sharing, I ended up just eating because she didn't like it and I hated that we, I didn't want to like waste 20 bucks like that, like, you know, come on, can't be wasted money like that, especially, you know, and one else is around to you to for us if we don't like it.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, God, I feel like we tried something else.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we didn't, um, I don't know, anyways, um,
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, sweethearts night, I highly recommend it if you haven't done it before, but maybe don't do it so close to Valentine's Day because that was the other thing too, we did it two days before Valentine's Day and see when I when I bought the tickets, I thought that would have been really cool and I still don't disagree with it.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: But man, I don't know.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: One of the things that did suck before I moved on was that she wanted like one of the pins that you know like that 2026.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: So we are slightly pin.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: It was just like completely sold out.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's like come on man.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: Apparently they had stock every day, but I'm seeing videos online that say otherwise from people who are heavily into that stuff.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a bit of a bummer.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, we had a great Valentine's Day.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: We went like thrift shopping on Saturday and, you know, got some lunch and I just had a really good night.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, lately I've been watching Avatar the last airbender and we watched a ton of that, um, I know my cousin, you know, because in Jared who was been on your once and his sister, Cheyenne, uh, they liked it when we were kids and, you know, they always told me about it, but before the reason I just didn't latch on to me,
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I have never like been against it.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think at least I don't remember like I always thought the characters look cool and stuff But now that I'm watching it, it's been so badass and I do and I was just talking about this is my sales rate Frankie is like I think Sometimes it's really cool to experience something that like you knew about it back then But you just regarded it and now you get to enjoy it later in life and
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: And there's so many themes that I don't think I would have appreciated in Avatar, like adult themes and life themes, like life like situations and moments and a moment to learn.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel like in some respect I wouldn't have appreciated it like I do now.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I just think it's such a fucking good show.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: And we're wrapping up the final season and we're going to open up a play booster of the Magic the Gathering booster box.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm really excited to open that with her.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: Um, now that I'm gonna know all the characters and stuff and like what why they meet but why they're so important because she's actually open one up ready And you know, she had the time of her life opening it, but I don't like I don't really understand what she was so excited about Why do for the obviously I collect Pokemon and stuff But like the characters themselves and the moments that are depicted on the art for the card now I can appreciate it after we watch the final season.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm really excited to do that
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: And then Sunday, we watched Jurassic Park, the original one, and theaters.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's the first time I've ever seen in theaters, and it was like a big bucket list item, which I know sounds probably crazy for like a bucket list, but it's probably my favorite movie of all time, if not tied with back to the future, and I've seen both movies like excessive amount of times.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: And it was so badass to just see it in theaters, and she really enjoyed it too, and I thought that was a really nice way to kind of wrap up, like going out and doing things for Valentine's Day.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, wonderful Valentine's Day.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: She got me really badass card that I liked a lot, and obviously it was really nice.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: So great Valentine's Day.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: Go see Jurassic Park if you haven't.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: If you get an opportunity.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: you might miss out you're definitely going to miss out by the time you hear this.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: But let's see what else that I want to talk about at the Mandalorian Guru Guru trailer came out.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_00]: It looks good.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's all I got really.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think like the biggest thing I really wanted to touch on today.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: was the follow-up from last week's episode within itsendo partner showcase.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously we had Bethesda announced fallout four which is already coming out next week and literally in seven days.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: But the fact that like a believey and remastered is coming out for the switch to Indiana Jones and the great circle.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously big ticket games.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: wildly successful games in oblivion being uh... what i thought was my favorite but that's rpg um... after replying the shitty version of the skyrim for this which one this weekend and having a really good time i really i'm really conflicted i don't know
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: If Skyrim is my favorite RPG of all time or oblivion, I think the issue for me is both games are so goddamn good.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: They are like a masterclass in gaming and I know Skyrim if Alex was here.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: And so many other YouTubers I love watching would make a great case on how Skyrim is truly just stripped down To make a make it more appealing to a mainstream audience compared to oblivion compared to more wind There's no doubt about it.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: It is however I fucking love it, man I love the game so much and I find myself struggling which one I like more and It doesn't matter you can like both right I get that but
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: Oblivion has one of my favorite main quests of all time.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: However, shivering Isles, I personally think is the best expansion ever made in the history of gaming, at least from my experience.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: But I was also just invited to the Don Guard on Skyrim, and I was like, oh yeah, I fucking love the Don Guard expansion.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: It provides a nice, I don't know how many hours the quest line takes.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think I think I want to say it five or six hours But like the areas you go to the armor the story itself the purpose of the story Getting Orioles bow which is like such a sick ass bow You can literally shoot a arrow into the sun and shoot sun rays out like what or you can dip it in blood I think and then you can make the sun like a blood moon or something like that.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember or whatever
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that's going on in my life where I'm struggling with the fact that I don't know which one I like more and I know that sounds crazy like Ryan like there's so much crazy You're in way more important things going on in life and you're right listener.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: There is but This is why the podcast exists so I can come on here and Rambal about stupid shit and Let you know what I'm thinking and this is what I'm thinking about
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: but also one of the reasons why I want to come on here today is as of today, Tuesday, February 17th, but as a release after two months, a very important patch for the switch to version of the anniversary edition of Skyrim, and that is a performance mode, and obviously it comes with bug fixes, crash fixes, some visual updates, but also the most important part, a 60 hertz, 60 FES refresh rate, all the fun stuff, all labeled in one sentence.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: update so now you can switch to performance mode or visual mode if you want pure quality and like the game looking and it's absolute best locked at 30 frames per second but if you live in the current era you know if you pay attention and care enough
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: which it's fine if you don't, it's not the end of the world, that 60FPS is like, in my opinion, the nice sweet spot for gaming.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, the game looks so crisp.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: There's no input lag or little input lag.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's just so refreshing to look at and experience a game like this.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: And ironically, I was playing, like I said, the basic switch one version of Skyrim, and I didn't know that, even though I had the switch to upgrade for free.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: Um, don't know why I fumble that so hard.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: So today when I was playing I was like, oh, I can't see the performance mode.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't know what's going on here Come to find out I was playing on the wrong Skyrim.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I updated the right Skyrim and played the performance mode for about an hour and Oh my god Being able to play Skyrim handheld at a performance mode while it does need some more love a little bit on the visual side
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: Seeing it at 60 FPS pretty much locked for the most part.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'm you know from my experience.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: It was locked It was a wonderful experience again.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: This is a timeless game, and yeah, sure.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's literally 15 years old 15th anniversary this year in December or November and
- 18:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the they made a sheer content this game has and little details that but does it's really good at when they are good because unfortunately the can't seem to figure out they're going to shit or get off the pot.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's really frustrating.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: It makes me just really appreciate this game.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean this game came out after I graduated high school and it just meant so much to me.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_00]: I remember the reveal trailer at the game awards when they show
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: It, you know, skims into game play and you're like, what the fuck, this is crazy.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you played this shit out of oblivion.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: I just think Skyrims are really good follow-up for me personally and seeing it run so well in handheld mode.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_00]: Now I know that I can take this game literally anywhere and dump a couple hours into it, or 30 minutes, and just kind of pick it up whenever I want or I'm
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: laying down in bed is like one of the greatest feelings ever so um yeah I just wanted to hop on here and kind of talk about those things and there's so much more I haven't talked about still haven't talked about the Super Bowl yet um probably have Joe wanted to come and talk on on that and uh
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: Catch up on some of the things, but the biggest thing for me right now is the Zelda anniversary on playing a ton of Switch 2 games.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: Helldivers had like the Battle of Cybersan.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: There's so much going on, but I appreciate all of you for listening to this podcast.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: If you do like it, please consider liking, subscribing, commenting, follow me on all socials, it just works podcast, leaving a review if you're courteous enough.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: And sharing it with one person that you know, you might like or might think well like this.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't say that properly It could be a stranger on the street.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_00]: You let them say Ryan's got the edges works podcast You got to listen to that shit, but yeah, I love you all Thank you so much, and I'll see you on the next episode.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_00]: Peace
