Miner Killed in Sands Backdam Shooting | Guyana News
A 32-year-old miner, Ceton Courtman, was fatally shot during a confrontation with a 27-year-old private security guard in Sands Backdam, near the Cuyuni River. The guard allegedly fired his weapon during an argument, striking Courtman in the head. He died at the Aurora Gold Mines medical center. The guard is now in custody, with his pistol and 12 live rounds seized. Police are investigating the tragic incident, which ended a life over what appears to be a dispute.
