- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome to Jagsan today and Nnanni Stevens our first victory
- 0:20Speaker 1: Monday of the twenty twenty four NFL season. Brian Textan
- 0:23Speaker 1: and John Osier are with me today. We're going to
- 0:24Speaker 1: recap all of the stuff for you from yesterday. It
- 0:27Speaker 1: was not perfect, but it is a lot more fun
- 0:29Speaker 1: to go over things after win. So let's start out
- 0:31Speaker 1: with big thing Number one, that is spark. Brian Thomas Jr.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Has been amazing for this team so far this season,
- 0:37Speaker 1: and he was a huge spark with that eighty five
- 0:39Speaker 1: yard touchdown catch and run in this game.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Brian, we talked.
- 0:43Speaker 1: About how impressed we've been with the rookie, but he
- 0:46Speaker 1: really was the spark to get things going well.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Listening, Fred Taylor and I were together when he started
- 0:51Speaker 3: the route and Fred said, he's going to have a
- 0:53Speaker 3: big play here. The most impressive speed I have seen
- 0:57Speaker 3: in forever. Fact, Jimmy Smith told Fred after words he
- 1:00Speaker 3: thought this guy had a chance to be the fastest
- 1:02Speaker 3: Jaguar ever, and that's two of the fastest Jaguars ever.
- 1:06Speaker 3: He ran so fast down the field that he eliminated
- 1:10Speaker 3: the safety's angle by just outrunning him down The Colt sideline.
- 1:15Speaker 3: It was as impressive a play as I can remember.
- 1:17Speaker 4: See. Yeah, he's got a chance to be special. And
- 1:20Speaker 4: it's what's interesting to me. I've seen a lot of
- 1:24Speaker 4: fast receivers. He does other things well too. He's not
- 1:28Speaker 4: just He's capable of doing more than just beating you deep.
- 1:32Speaker 4: He looks like a guy. If you get in the
- 1:34Speaker 4: ball two yards, he can turn that into nine or
- 1:36Speaker 4: ten yards. He's a football player, and he's about to
- 1:40Speaker 4: become a really good one.
- 1:41Speaker 3: He's number one guy. He is a legit number one receiver.
- 1:44Speaker 3: They haven't had that here.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Since Jimmy Absolute. Let's talk elsewhere on the offense. Fire,
- 1:48Speaker 2: we saw a.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Ton of fire out of tank things for yesterday. He
- 1:51Speaker 1: talks after the game a little bit about why he
- 1:54Speaker 1: was so motivated time the end zone and go up
- 1:56Speaker 1: against the Colts all week.
- 1:59Speaker 5: This week finished and I ran out there, Okay, so
- 2:02Speaker 5: that I said I won't be gas and I won't
- 2:06Speaker 5: I I would scope the little help my team win.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Uh that was the biggest thing.
- 2:10Speaker 4: And another thing was like.
- 2:11Speaker 5: Last year con started off with the coats of my career.
- 2:15Speaker 4: I didn't like it.
- 2:16Speaker 5: And uh, I kind of took this game a little
- 2:18Speaker 5: person off and uh, like I said, it's just I'm
- 2:21Speaker 5: very blessed to be here and I'm blessed.
- 2:22Speaker 6: For his opportunity.
- 2:25Speaker 4: John.
- 2:25Speaker 1: That Colts game early last year was tough for Tank.
- 2:29Speaker 1: You know, some of the the ball going off his hands,
- 2:31Speaker 1: the return fumble, fumbles, things like that of that nature.
- 2:34Speaker 1: That dealt he dealt with all of last season. So
- 2:37Speaker 1: he took it personally yesterday and you could tell, Yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 1: that was a uh bespectacled Tank. Pigsby right, very wise
- 2:43Speaker 1: seen that.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Look h he I thought all last year Tank got
- 2:48Speaker 4: kind of a tough uh break or two uh every
- 2:53Speaker 4: say he was a fumbler and he wasn't. He wasn't
- 2:55Speaker 4: doing things well. I thought he had a couple of
- 2:56Speaker 4: bad breaks against the Colts. His season started off poorly.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Thing he was talking about with the fumble, the weird
- 3:03Speaker 4: fumbling Indianapolis. This guy's really good. And again it goes
- 3:08Speaker 4: to show you you cannot judge rookies based on just
- 3:12Speaker 4: their first year. He's second only to Brian Thomas in
- 3:17Speaker 4: terms of a dynamic player for this offense right now.
- 3:21Speaker 4: It's an impressive comeback. Brian.
- 3:22Speaker 3: You know, I really I can't decide whether I like
- 3:25Speaker 3: the nineteen yard touchdown run which was all power, or
- 3:29Speaker 3: the sixty five yarder which had a little fred to
- 3:31Speaker 3: him because he cut it so hard back and just
- 3:34Speaker 3: ran through tackles. It was incredibly impressive. And you know,
- 3:39Speaker 3: he had fourteen touches yesterday and Travis Etn had twelve touches.
- 3:44Speaker 3: What will be interesting to see is how Doug and
- 3:47Speaker 3: Press Taylor will deploy these two guys situationally, how many carries,
- 3:51Speaker 3: so many touches they will get. When you have a
- 3:54Speaker 3: guy like Etn who's capable of going the distance on
- 3:56Speaker 3: any given play, and now a guy who plays with
- 3:59Speaker 3: power and can go sixty five yards, man, you've got
- 4:02Speaker 3: some real weapons and gives the offense a chance not
- 4:05Speaker 3: just to stay on track, but to really push its
- 4:08Speaker 3: way and do the things they want to do, to
- 4:10Speaker 3: be aggressive and set the temple of a game instead
- 4:12Speaker 3: of just taking what's given to them.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Good options to have.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Absolutely, let's do our final big thing this morning, Extinguished.
- 4:17Speaker 1: We've talked all the first four weeks of the season
- 4:20Speaker 1: how the Jaguars had opportunities to win these games, but
- 4:22Speaker 1: they could not finish these games. Friends, the first time
- 4:26Speaker 1: we've seen them respond to adversity and get a win.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Well, they made big plays on that final drive. I
- 4:30Speaker 3: mean de Ernest Johnson set it up Deanners Johnson with
- 4:33Speaker 3: an eight yard carry where he just wouldn't go down.
- 4:36Speaker 3: That put the Jaguars ahead of the chains and allowed
- 4:39Speaker 3: them to take some chances. And then of course the
- 4:41Speaker 3: throw to Christian Kirk, which made it a sub fifty
- 4:44Speaker 3: yard field goal for the rookie. Even though we all
- 4:47Speaker 3: know that the rookie john has a big leg, he's
- 4:50Speaker 3: got a fifty three yard of this season. I think
- 4:52Speaker 3: getting it inside fifty yards boosted his confidence because I
- 4:56Speaker 3: don't know what you were thinking, but I'm thinking, man,
- 4:57Speaker 3: if he misses this, now they got to They got
- 5:00Speaker 3: a really short road to navigate with timeouts and some clock.
- 5:04Speaker 4: This is a huge.
- 5:05Speaker 6: Kick for this kid.
- 5:06Speaker 3: So Kirk's catch set them up, and you know, good
- 5:10Speaker 3: for them. They lost a game that way last week,
- 5:12Speaker 3: they won it that way this week. The word that
- 5:15Speaker 3: I've been asking that I've been talking about resilience. They
- 5:17Speaker 3: were resilient yesterday in a big way.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I tell you what I was thinking. I was
- 5:20Speaker 4: thinking they were going to lose the game if he
- 5:21Speaker 4: makes the field goal, because that's what usually happens when
- 5:24Speaker 4: you miss in that situation, short field, do you get it?
- 5:28Speaker 4: I thought of all the important things having for Trevor
- 5:32Speaker 4: Lawrence yesterday, yes hitting the deep balls. I had faith
- 5:35Speaker 4: that he was eventually going to hit those deep balls.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Sometimes those come and go, and it's like taking a
- 5:40Speaker 4: half court shot in basketball. Sometimes you're making symtims you don't.
- 5:44Speaker 4: I thought the last drive was really important, the throw
- 5:47Speaker 4: to Kirk. He handled that with poise. It's the kind
- 5:50Speaker 4: of drive a big time quarterback should get a field
- 5:53Speaker 4: goal with or a touchdown. He hasn't always done that.
- 5:57Speaker 4: I think that may resonate going forward as much as
- 5:59Speaker 4: the two long asses.
- 6:00Speaker 1: All right, stay, let's here on JAG's am. We have
- 6:02Speaker 1: a bunch of highlights to go over with you in
- 6:04Speaker 1: the next block.
- 6:05Speaker 2: See you Pregister your furry friend for.

- 6:22Speaker 1: slash four Legged Fan Club to sign up today.
- 6:27Speaker 7: It's kind of been our season so far. That game today,
- 6:30Speaker 7: and in moments when we needed it the most, got
- 6:32Speaker 7: stepped up and we were able to fight through that adversity.
- 6:34Speaker 7: So it just you know, builds confidence, you know that,
- 6:37Speaker 7: and moments that we needed we have the guys, We
- 6:39Speaker 7: have the people, We have the team.
- 6:40Speaker 6: That can step up and doing it.
- 6:41Speaker 7: So we just got to you know, keep it rolling,
- 6:43Speaker 7: you know, use this this momentum to you know, take
- 6:45Speaker 7: it over to London and keep accumulating with.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Jack's got their first win of the season. It wasn't
- 6:51Speaker 1: easy that fight for it, and I think that makes
- 6:53Speaker 1: it a little more worth it. You guys who talked
- 6:55Speaker 1: a lot about this team, and finally.
- 6:56Speaker 2: We got some good highlights to go over today.
- 6:58Speaker 6: Let's go.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Let's do this all right. Let's start out early.
- 7:00Speaker 1: This is probably not the best highlight so far of
- 7:03Speaker 1: the day because it was something that they've had an
- 7:04Speaker 1: issue with, that short completion on third down and then
- 7:07Speaker 1: the failed fourth down that they went for.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Instead of taking the points.
- 7:10Speaker 1: That's something we've become accustomed to because of how Doug
- 7:12Speaker 1: Pearson rolls. But Brian, I was a little like, here
- 7:16Speaker 1: we go again at this point or what.
- 7:17Speaker 6: We're talking about the one to Breton Strange.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and in particular because I think most people
- 7:21Speaker 3: saw that Gave Davis was wide open in the middle,
- 7:24Speaker 3: and my, my, are we going this way again? Was
- 7:27Speaker 3: is the quarterback going to see the field today? Now
- 7:29Speaker 3: it turned out he saw the field really well, just
- 7:32Speaker 3: not on this particular play.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And I think at this point, obviously we know Doug's
- 7:37Speaker 1: going to go for it. I understand that if you
- 7:38Speaker 1: get it as it always has been, then it's not
- 7:41Speaker 1: an issue.
- 7:41Speaker 2: It's because he didn't get listening.
- 7:42Speaker 3: They won the game, but at that moment, going forward
- 7:45Speaker 3: and fourth down just it felt desperate. But that's what
- 7:49Speaker 3: Doug likes to do, is to take those chances well.
- 7:52Speaker 4: And later on in the first half went forward on
- 7:55Speaker 4: fourth and one in his own territory. Nobody talks about
- 7:58Speaker 4: that because it work.
- 8:00Speaker 3: By the way, Trevor on those two fourth down put
- 8:02Speaker 3: his nose down, and we've been told that's not what
- 8:04Speaker 3: he does well, or he really did it well yesterday.
- 8:07Speaker 2: It worked.
- 8:07Speaker 6: He wasn't going to be denied.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Absolutely. Let's talk about that spark moment. John.
- 8:10Speaker 1: We saw that BTJ touchdown, I mean, the second longest
- 8:14Speaker 1: touchdown in Jaguars history, I think is what we heard,
- 8:16Speaker 1: and he tracked up to twenty two miles an hour
- 8:18Speaker 1: on that he's just so dangerous in this and the
- 8:22Speaker 1: fact that I think he talked after the game as well,
- 8:24Speaker 1: he saw that the defender's doing the wrong thing and
- 8:26Speaker 1: he looked up and thought something.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Else was going on. He said, oh, I got this
- 8:28Speaker 2: from here.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Well he it was kind of funny, is quote. First
- 8:32Speaker 4: of all, he said he wanted to get his mad
- 8:33Speaker 4: and his Madden rating up, which was funny, and then
- 8:36Speaker 4: he didn't expect the ball and then all of a sudden,
- 8:39Speaker 4: the plays in the end zone. That's the kind of
- 8:41Speaker 4: thing that they haven't had happened to them this year.
- 8:46Speaker 4: We've been talking all along. Do they have special playmakers?
- 8:49Speaker 4: Are those guys going to show up multiple times? Yesterday
- 8:52Speaker 4: it did. It's the difference in winning and losing when
- 8:55Speaker 4: you've got guys who turn that into a touchdown, Brian,
- 8:58Speaker 4: rather than into a fifty five yard game. Yeah, all
- 9:00Speaker 4: of a sudden, your points go up. Those are the
- 9:03Speaker 4: teams that win games. They look like they have a
- 9:05Speaker 4: couple of guys in Bigsby and Thomas.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Well, they haven't had that kind of a play since
- 9:09Speaker 3: December twenty fifteen, when Alan Robinson had a ninety yard
- 9:12Speaker 3: touchdown pass in New Orleans. It's been forever. People forgotten
- 9:16Speaker 3: that Alan Robinson was even a year And it looked
- 9:18Speaker 3: to me yesterday like he looked like he was the
- 9:20Speaker 3: same kid at LSU. Oh, this is easy.
- 9:23Speaker 1: The preparation good to see from the rookie. Let's go
- 9:25Speaker 1: to the second quarter. Gave Davis catch and fumble. Another
- 9:29Speaker 1: moment of adversity. As we've talked about, could have been
- 9:31Speaker 1: a backbreaker in a different game, but there was many
- 9:33Speaker 1: in this game that they were able to bounce back from.
- 9:35Speaker 1: This one was extra tough because to get the PI
- 9:37Speaker 1: on it as well, so there would have been a
- 9:39Speaker 1: penalty anyway. But then at this point in the game,
- 9:42Speaker 1: with twenty five seconds left, you're trying to go and
- 9:44Speaker 1: get at least maybe a field goal at this point
- 9:46Speaker 1: before the half, and then this happens.
- 9:48Speaker 4: It was tough. Yeah, it feels I'm sure good now
- 9:50Speaker 4: you fumble on a play didn't count, and so I
- 9:54Speaker 4: think they need more out of this spot than what
- 9:56Speaker 4: they've gotten in the last couple of weeks. With the
- 9:58Speaker 4: drop in the end zone two weeks ago or against Houston.
- 10:02Speaker 4: You know, I don't think it will happen again. I
- 10:04Speaker 4: don't think it's his m O that has to be done.
- 10:08Speaker 1: After this though we did see again fighting back from
- 10:11Speaker 1: that adversity, Trayvon getting the strip sack, Josh Hinds Allen able.
- 10:14Speaker 2: To get the ball and he was not even getting
- 10:17Speaker 2: an en zone.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I was like, he needs to go down because I
- 10:19Speaker 1: don't know if he's gonna make it with time on
- 10:20Speaker 1: the clock at that point. But again, a huge play.
- 10:23Speaker 1: And it's these kinds of moments where you can go
- 10:25Speaker 1: and then kick a field goal after this and get
- 10:27Speaker 1: some points before the half. That's when those things add up.
- 10:29Speaker 3: It's kind of Josh's m O, right, I mean he
- 10:32Speaker 3: makes plays like that grabbing the ball off the ground,
- 10:36Speaker 3: and it was it was so much fun to watch
- 10:38Speaker 3: Trayvon Walker yesterday.
- 10:40Speaker 6: Just he was feeling it and you could tell, well.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Mike tom On the last a year called the wrecking
- 10:46Speaker 4: ball and when he's right, and it's happening more and
- 10:49Speaker 4: more and more in his career. Now he can read
- 10:52Speaker 4: games and he certainly did yesterday for the Colts. Huge
- 10:56Speaker 4: day for the Colts offensively, but when you're having a
- 10:58Speaker 4: day like that against you. Defensively, you have to get
- 11:01Speaker 4: a couple of I guess service breaks, and Trayvon Walker
- 11:06Speaker 4: got him to the Jazz yesterday.
- 11:07Speaker 3: By the way, this field goal at the end of
- 11:08Speaker 3: the half was the moment where I really thought they
- 11:10Speaker 3: were going to win because it showed a resilience. Right,
- 11:12Speaker 3: there's that word again that we hadn't seen from this
- 11:14Speaker 3: team in weeks and able to go in with a.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Lead to halftime was huge for them.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Coming out a little bit not great trying to force
- 11:21Speaker 1: the ball to Brian Thomas Junior.
- 11:22Speaker 2: There not a great moment for Trevor.
- 11:24Speaker 1: He didn't have a ton of bad moments yesterday, but
- 11:26Speaker 1: that was not a great one.
- 11:27Speaker 6: Yeah, you would think you just we've been told you
- 11:30Speaker 6: can't overthrow him.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Try to overthrow well with a great receiver like this,
- 11:36Speaker 4: I think it's gonna be a few plays where I
- 11:39Speaker 4: don't want to say, be willing Niley with the ball,
- 11:41Speaker 4: but when you have a one, which he's gonna be,
- 11:45Speaker 4: sometimes you throw it up and see if he can
- 11:47Speaker 4: make a play. This was a little you know, and
- 11:49Speaker 4: Trevor would say, yeah, John, that wasn't that this was
- 11:52Speaker 4: a bad throw, but I don't mind giving this kid
- 11:56Speaker 4: a chance these days because a lot of times it works.
- 12:00Speaker 4: And if you're going to get a pick there, get
- 12:02Speaker 4: it on your own two or your back deack.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Like a punt at that point, and then we know
- 12:05Speaker 3: what happened right afterwards on the ensuing series. So it
- 12:07Speaker 3: turned out to be just fine.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Let's talk about that ensuing series.
- 12:10Speaker 1: We saw Devin Duvernet with his first big play, kind
- 12:12Speaker 1: of flipping the field for them and then setting up
- 12:14Speaker 1: what I thought was going to be Tank's best run
- 12:16Speaker 1: of the day.
- 12:17Speaker 2: But we'll get to the other one later, but this
- 12:19Speaker 2: was huge.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I mean, we haven't seen a ton of it with
- 12:20Speaker 1: the new kickoff rules, we haven't seen a ton of
- 12:22Speaker 1: breakout plays necessarily, but he was able to do it
- 12:25Speaker 1: this time and giving them good field position and where
- 12:28Speaker 1: they went from there.
- 12:29Speaker 2: So it was it was nice to see.
- 12:30Speaker 1: And when I say every part of the team kind
- 12:32Speaker 1: of contributed in this when they really did well.
- 12:34Speaker 6: We've been waiting, right, We've been waiting for him.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Yeah. Punt returning is one of those thing. If you
- 12:39Speaker 4: have three plays like this in the year, you had
- 12:40Speaker 4: a good year. Because you flip field, you use your
- 12:42Speaker 4: team momentum. It is a big play once every few
- 12:46Speaker 4: games position and I thought this was huge in terms
- 12:49Speaker 4: of their momentum because it made you field Brien. You
- 12:52Speaker 4: had the feeling at the end of the first alley
- 12:54Speaker 4: they were going to win. Now of a sudden, you
- 12:56Speaker 4: felt like, Oh, they're making plays. It doesn't matter what's
- 12:59Speaker 4: going against them. It's that kind of a game.
- 13:01Speaker 6: They have an answer for everything. Yeah.
- 13:03Speaker 3: The only downside with that is Devin Dubernet had a hamstring.
- 13:07Speaker 6: We know what those have done to this team.
- 13:08Speaker 2: He did selfish injuries not good.
- 13:10Speaker 1: This play to me was I mean, when you rewatch it,
- 13:13Speaker 1: Ezra Cleveland's literally pushing tank into the end zone at
- 13:15Speaker 1: this point, even gave Davis' is in on the blocking.
- 13:17Speaker 1: That was a I won't be denied here. We are
- 13:20Speaker 1: not going to be denied. This is not something where
- 13:22Speaker 1: we're gonna stall in the red zone. We're getting this
- 13:25Speaker 1: touchdown and you force your way into the end zone.
- 13:28Speaker 1: And that's great to see from this team.
- 13:29Speaker 6: Love to see the power.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I love to see Ezra Cleveland pushing even more. The
- 13:33Speaker 3: offensive line is coming off two really good games. The
- 13:36Speaker 3: quarterback spin on his feet, they've provided all kinds of
- 13:39Speaker 3: room in the ground game. It feels like the offensive
- 13:42Speaker 3: line is getting their rhythm and John, I mean, I
- 13:44Speaker 3: guess you expect it now coming into October with the
- 13:47Speaker 3: five of these guys playing together, really the first time
- 13:49Speaker 3: they've played this extensively together.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Well, if it's going to happen, this is the way
- 13:52Speaker 4: you expect it at I think it's fair for fans
- 13:55Speaker 4: to be surprised by it because they haven't had this
- 13:57Speaker 4: kind offensive line play in a long time. Been a topic,
- 14:00Speaker 4: but as Doug Peterson said, with a little bit of
- 14:03Speaker 4: you know, a sort of a vintage Doug, I told
- 14:06Speaker 4: you so. He's been talking about continuity of this bunch
- 14:09Speaker 4: and how it hasn't had didn't have it at all
- 14:11Speaker 4: last year. Now it's got it. Now it's playing well
- 14:13Speaker 4: so far. Kudos to Doug on that one's talk about
- 14:16Speaker 4: Christian Kirk.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Didn't see a ton of him in the first half,
- 14:18Speaker 1: but again staying prepared, staying ready for when your name
- 14:21Speaker 1: is called. That huge catch over the middle he talked
- 14:23Speaker 1: after the game, that was the same play we saw
- 14:25Speaker 1: the huge play.
- 14:26Speaker 2: From Brian on in the other game. And Christian Kirk
- 14:29Speaker 2: can do some things too.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Listen the moment of this was big. We talked about
- 14:33Speaker 3: how the Jaguars didn't meet the moment. This is the
- 14:35Speaker 3: series that started with a face masking penalty against Ernest Johnson.
- 14:39Speaker 3: And on first and twenty five, you throw a little
- 14:41Speaker 3: past the game's one yard, so it's second to twenty
- 14:43Speaker 3: four and you're thinking, all right, there are many plays
- 14:45Speaker 3: where you go for twenty four yards, you know, And
- 14:48Speaker 3: yet there they go. And it was a week after
- 14:52Speaker 3: missing Christian Kirk who was wide open. He makes this
- 14:55Speaker 3: throw and there's two defenders at three somewhere near him.
- 14:59Speaker 3: What a great Yeah, it was.
- 15:01Speaker 4: A flipped the field moment picked up second and twenty four,
- 15:05Speaker 4: and it felt in that game it felt like they
- 15:09Speaker 4: weren't going to pick that up and that the Colts
- 15:11Speaker 4: had momentum back. This broke momentum back, and credit to
- 15:14Speaker 4: the Jags they did that multiple times on Sunday for
- 15:17Speaker 4: the first time this season.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Let's jump ahead a little bit to the fourth quarter.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Things got a little wild, so we might as well
- 15:22Speaker 1: go over some of that stuff. I told you I
- 15:25Speaker 1: thought Tank's nineteen yard run was going to be the
- 15:27Speaker 1: best run of the day. He proved me very much
- 15:28Speaker 1: wrong with that sixty five yard run that he had,
- 15:31Speaker 1: and Tank was not going to be denied today. And
- 15:33Speaker 1: he talked in that SoundBite we heard in the A
- 15:36Speaker 1: Bloc about you know, I sprinted after practice.
- 15:39Speaker 4: I was not going to get gas and he didn't.
- 15:41Speaker 4: It's cool, Brian to see a young player coming into
- 15:45Speaker 4: his own and I guess we're seeing with Brian Thomas Junior.
- 15:49Speaker 4: But Tank, now his runs are looking so much different
- 15:56Speaker 4: than they looked even a day or I mean even
- 15:59Speaker 4: a game or two ago. He's doing what he knows
- 16:01Speaker 4: how to do. It looks like he's figuring out how
- 16:04Speaker 4: to do what his skills set is in the NFL
- 16:07Speaker 4: if you follow me, Yeah, and that can be hard.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Now he's got confidence. Look, this was a terrific run
- 16:14Speaker 4: and it did Frankly, mind youa Fred? So it did.
- 16:16Speaker 4: And just as he took the.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Pitch, Fred goes cut it back and immediately the kid
- 16:22Speaker 3: cut it back and I went, what right?
- 16:25Speaker 6: But that's the.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Vision that Tank showed us, and we've seen him. It's
- 16:29Speaker 3: easy when your vision says, hey, I'll get around the
- 16:31Speaker 3: corner and I'll use my speed and get to the sideline.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Much more difficult to see that cutback lane coming behind
- 16:37Speaker 3: you when you're running to your right. But he did
- 16:39Speaker 3: and it was a perfect little jump cut and then
- 16:41Speaker 3: he ran through an over a defender and took.
- 16:43Speaker 6: Off for the end zone.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Listen, I don't know how you keep him from carrying
- 16:49Speaker 3: the ball twelve to fifteen times a game.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it's tough. And I thought after week one they
- 16:54Speaker 4: were going to have a good problem in the sense
- 16:58Speaker 4: that you don't want to have out not in the
- 17:00Speaker 4: game because as he showed yesterday, there were moments early
- 17:05Speaker 4: on Sunday you needed and you also needed him in
- 17:09Speaker 4: the passing game, like he's got a skill set that
- 17:12Speaker 4: helps the quarterback, helps you early get into good down
- 17:16Speaker 4: and distance, So you need Travis's presence there, but you
- 17:20Speaker 4: also need Tank on the field. So again, way too
- 17:23Speaker 4: many good players, which is all I said.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Around that's a problem that will take We haven't had that.
- 17:29Speaker 3: I haven't had that much lately.
- 17:30Speaker 2: It'll be good stuff.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I do want to say. It wasn't a perfect game
- 17:32Speaker 1: by any means. The Colts came back into this. You
- 17:34Speaker 1: have put two touchdowns. I did the postgame interview on
- 17:36Speaker 1: the field.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I was like, oh, God's said, it'll be fine. And
- 17:38Speaker 2: then eight other things happened.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Colts are back in this game getting two touchdowns, and
- 17:43Speaker 1: that's where you need to clean things up.
- 17:44Speaker 2: You need to close the door earlier.
- 17:45Speaker 1: They did do it in the end, so we're going
- 17:47Speaker 1: to give him credit for that, but shouldn't have been
- 17:48Speaker 1: that close, right, Well, you got.
- 17:50Speaker 3: The sense that if Monterrek Brown had been able to
- 17:52Speaker 3: just knock that ball away on that play where Pierce
- 17:56Speaker 3: caught it on the ground, it's an amazing catch, right,
- 17:58Speaker 3: and that just lit those guys up. Montik, who's played really,
- 18:02Speaker 3: really well, seemed to just be off at that point.
- 18:04Speaker 3: And the other thing is the second touchdown. The safety
- 18:07Speaker 3: play has not been very good. Now you're it's not
- 18:09Speaker 3: being consistent, and part of that is Frcisco has not
- 18:12Speaker 3: played as well, and he's a guy they're counting on
- 18:15Speaker 3: john and neither has Antonio Johnson. It just seems like
- 18:19Speaker 3: on big plays like Tyreek Hill in Miami and right there, yeah,
- 18:22Speaker 3: they're just off. They've got to get that safety position
- 18:24Speaker 3: cleaned up if they're going to shut down.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Yeah, explosive, it seems from our review the safeties of
- 18:29Speaker 4: struggle go. Look, this is a league of moments and
- 18:34Speaker 4: in fourth quarters. If you learn anything from watching this,
- 18:37Speaker 4: if you miss your chance at a closing moment, then
- 18:41Speaker 4: the other thing He's probably can get back in it.
- 18:42Speaker 4: The Flacco scrambled early where Joe Flacco I think he
- 18:47Speaker 4: ran Fredy yard two. When you miss those moments, it
- 18:52Speaker 4: almost always bites you because offenses are so good. If
- 18:54Speaker 4: you've got third and eight, you don't close it, they're
- 18:57Speaker 4: gonna pick up fourth and eight just by percentages. So
- 18:59Speaker 4: that seemed to me what happened. And then a little
- 19:01Speaker 4: air goes out of your sales. This last play. Yeah,
- 19:06Speaker 4: credit to him for responding to it because it could
- 19:09Speaker 4: have taken the air out of the whole team, and
- 19:11Speaker 4: it did.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Just a thought on that Joe Flacco run, they had
- 19:14Speaker 3: great coverage down the field, he had nowhere to go
- 19:16Speaker 3: and Eric Armstead was thrown into Josh Allen who was
- 19:20Speaker 3: close to a sack and knocked him off, got him free.
- 19:23Speaker 3: It was just one of those freak moments. And then
- 19:25Speaker 3: everybody was back in coverage doing their job and couldn't
- 19:27Speaker 3: get to him quick enough.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Jack's did get the ball back, and something we saw
- 19:31Speaker 1: them struggle with earlier in this season, able to get
- 19:34Speaker 1: a first down get themselves in field goal position and
- 19:36Speaker 1: now giving your kicker that opportunity. Doug Peterson talked about
- 19:39Speaker 1: they drafted this guy because he wants to take the
- 19:41Speaker 1: big kicks. He's ready to do it, and he proved
- 19:43Speaker 1: that and I was very nervous for him. I was
- 19:45Speaker 1: getting a little sick to my stomach. I was like,
- 19:47Speaker 1: this is pressure right out of the gate for this kid.
- 19:49Speaker 1: But he was ready for the moment.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it's funny. I thought the same thing, and before
- 19:55Speaker 4: he kicked it, I started writing the score in my
- 19:57Speaker 4: story I did. I think Doug said it after the
- 20:01Speaker 4: game and I asked him about it. If it's pressure,
- 20:04Speaker 4: But Brian, this kid's wired a little differently. I he's
- 20:06Speaker 4: a little whack up. I mean, I think he need
- 20:09Speaker 4: that for me, but I don't think he necessarily thinks
- 20:12Speaker 4: of it as pressure. I think, like Doug said, he
- 20:15Speaker 4: embraces it. So I kind of think he's that guy
- 20:20Speaker 4: who's going to hit these.
- 20:20Speaker 6: Yeah, well, he clearly he hit.
- 20:24Speaker 3: The real pressure point was and he had to know
- 20:26Speaker 3: this too, was the balls at the thirty nine yard line.
- 20:28Speaker 3: And if you miss that, then Joe Flacco needs what
- 20:30Speaker 3: about thirty five yards and clearly in the fourth quarter
- 20:33Speaker 3: Joe could find thirty five yards. That was win it
- 20:37Speaker 3: or lose it on that kick, not just win it
- 20:39Speaker 3: and maybe if you miss it go tie. Right, that
- 20:42Speaker 3: was win or lose and that's even more pressure.
- 20:45Speaker 6: And he came through with a big kick.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Yeah, they were close enough they could have incorporated the rhymes,
- 20:49Speaker 4: you know, so yeah, even bigger.
- 20:50Speaker 2: It was a huge at that point, right, talk about
- 20:53Speaker 2: the slam of the door as well.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Trayvon had himself a day obviously, sacks com in bungeons,
- 20:57Speaker 1: but he was all over the place, very dominant right
- 20:59Speaker 1: out of the gate. And to get that sack to
- 21:00Speaker 1: end the game, that was the day we needed from Traybon.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, look, he's got five sacks this season,
- 21:06Speaker 4: fifteen over his last what twenty one games. I said
- 21:12Speaker 4: for three years. He's a good, good player.
- 21:15Speaker 6: And it was great yesterday.
- 21:18Speaker 4: That was great yesterday. So credit to him. He's what
- 21:21Speaker 4: you need.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Lots of good stuff to go over today.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Say what was here on jag Zam after the break,
- 21:25Speaker 1: We'll give you our hot takes after the Jags first
- 21:27Speaker 1: win in the season.
- 21:32Speaker 8: Well, I think there's a weight off everybody's shoulders.
- 21:36Speaker 4: There all right, yeah, not just him.
- 21:40Speaker 8: It's a weight off of my shoulders too. Now you
- 21:42Speaker 8: guys can get off my tail for at least a week,
- 21:45Speaker 8: you know. But you know, listen, it's that's what I
- 21:49Speaker 8: told the guys. I mean, if they just continue to
- 21:52Speaker 8: stick together and work hard and you know, trust what
- 21:55Speaker 8: we're doing, trust each other, and you know by I mean,
- 22:00Speaker 8: that's what you're seeing, right, I mean, is it perfect. No,
- 22:03Speaker 8: It's never gonna be perfect. But the other thing you
- 22:10Speaker 8: had to realize too. We've had five games, four of
- 22:12Speaker 8: them have been one score games, right, So that's another
- 22:16Speaker 8: thing we have to we have to get used to.
- 22:19Speaker 8: These games are gonna come down to the last drive
- 22:21Speaker 8: or two of a game, and and that's something as
- 22:24Speaker 8: a as a team we've got to we've got to
- 22:26Speaker 8: embrace and we've gotta we got to learn to do that.
- 22:28Speaker 8: And today was a good step.
- 22:30Speaker 1: And Peterson talking about the weight being lifted off Tyl
- 22:33Speaker 1: Lawrence's shoulders, weight lifted off everybody's shoulders. Victory money's a
- 22:36Speaker 1: lot more fun for everybody, I think.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Could you notice when he was answering Mike Derocco from ESPN,
- 22:41Speaker 3: you don't really get that sort of relieved smile, and
- 22:44Speaker 3: Doug's got that jovial personality. No, he had that serious
- 22:47Speaker 3: coaching tone and look on his face all.
- 22:49Speaker 6: The way through that answer.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Yeah, well, look they were owned for Yeah, they need
- 22:53Speaker 4: to win. I don't want to say this saves the
- 22:56Speaker 4: season because they have to do more to save the season, right,
- 22:59Speaker 4: But it's sure gives him a chance to say, but sir,
- 23:01Speaker 4: prevents it from being unsavable.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Gives you a chance to catch your breath.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's a little more serious with that
- 23:07Speaker 1: old school logo on the visor in the shirt too.
- 23:08Speaker 6: Of course, don't even give me started.
- 23:10Speaker 4: It was good.
- 23:12Speaker 3: The throwbacks were and I wasn't crazy, you know, like
- 23:15Speaker 3: a lot of people were to see them.
- 23:17Speaker 1: But man, when I saw m I was, I mean,
- 23:19Speaker 1: it's I will give my unbiased two cents because I
- 23:22Speaker 1: was not around for the originals.
- 23:24Speaker 2: The color just looks better. All of it is better.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And I'm with everybody. I've been converted full time. Let's
- 23:30Speaker 1: switch it over.
- 23:30Speaker 6: Yeah, they're awesome.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Let's get to some hot takes. We have a win
- 23:33Speaker 1: to talk about, we have stuff to talk about. Brian,
- 23:35Speaker 1: what is your hot take for us today?
- 23:36Speaker 3: Sponsored by Firehouse Such well, also watching those guys yesterday,
- 23:40Speaker 3: Anton Harrison, Brenton Strange, Tank, big speed, just ventreul Miller.
- 23:48Speaker 3: The twenty twenty three draft looks like it could be
- 23:52Speaker 3: one of the best, maybe the best in Jaguars's history.
- 23:55Speaker 3: When I think about the best, John, I think about
- 23:57Speaker 3: ninety six, which gave you Kevin Hardy, Tony Brackens, and
- 23:59Speaker 3: Aaron Beasley all starters. And I can jump forward to
- 24:02Speaker 3: two thousand and six where you got Mercedes Lewis and
- 24:05Speaker 3: Maurice Jonestrem. Who's your all time touchdown leader in twenty
- 24:08Speaker 3: sixteen was Jalen Ramsey, Miles Jack and Unika Gockway.
- 24:11Speaker 6: That's really good.
- 24:12Speaker 3: I mean, those guys made lots of place for this team.
- 24:15Speaker 3: But when you look and not just at those guys
- 24:17Speaker 3: that I mentioned, right, but we expect Cooper Hodges will
- 24:20Speaker 3: be a starter. That's five starters from the draft you
- 24:23Speaker 3: Syrabdula is a key contributor, so is Tyler Lacy on
- 24:26Speaker 3: the defensive side.
- 24:27Speaker 6: I mean, this is a.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Draft that is as deep as any draft the Jaguars had.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Can say that clearly, twenty twenty three is as deep
- 24:34Speaker 3: a draft as the Jaguars have ever had.
- 24:36Speaker 6: It's early.
- 24:36Speaker 3: It's only the second season, but it's early in the
- 24:38Speaker 3: second season and we're looking at all these guys who
- 24:40Speaker 3: are making plays, and all I can think is that
- 24:43Speaker 3: twenty twenty three draft, which got a lot of criticism
- 24:45Speaker 3: unfairly it was too big, the players didn't all contribute
- 24:48Speaker 3: as rookies hold type folks. That draft could turn out
- 24:52Speaker 3: to be a gem, the gem of all Jaguars drafts.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Yeah, Brenton Strange is turning into a very interesting player
- 24:59Speaker 4: because the four or five weeks the season he was
- 25:01Speaker 4: the best balker on the offense and the catch the
- 25:04Speaker 4: other day. I don't know that he's ever going to
- 25:07Speaker 4: be you know, Evan Ingram, ninety catch guy, but he's
- 25:13Speaker 4: making plays that they need, which is pretty important.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Right now.
- 25:15Speaker 6: He could be a starter.
- 25:16Speaker 4: You can see it in him right now.
- 25:18Speaker 3: I mean, you have Evn Ingram who's hopefully coming back
- 25:20Speaker 3: this week. But the drop off has not been an
- 25:23Speaker 3: overall play. He hasn't been that big play.
- 25:26Speaker 6: Gun of guy.
- 25:27Speaker 3: But man, he met a huge catch yesterday. That was
- 25:28Speaker 3: a high, hard thought pass coming in from Trevor and
- 25:33Speaker 3: he pulled it down.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I went with the offensive line. I said, look
- 25:36Speaker 4: credit the offensive line. It's a dude. I don't have
- 25:40Speaker 4: that much to say. I just felt like we needed
- 25:42Speaker 4: to say.
- 25:43Speaker 2: It because this when they're bad, we should give them a.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Year and a half. And you know, up until three
- 25:49Speaker 4: weeks ago, I told you the offensive line. You know,
- 25:53Speaker 4: so look protected Trevor. They barely breathed on him yesterday.
- 25:58Speaker 4: I still don't necessarily get the idea of Brian this
- 26:00Speaker 4: is going to be a Hogs type running team where
- 26:05Speaker 4: you just know the Ravens or the Lions. But that's
- 26:09Speaker 4: sort of a function of the offense. Doug doesn't really
- 26:12Speaker 4: run that way. But they need to be effective when
- 26:15Speaker 4: they do run, and boy have they been. The last
- 26:17Speaker 4: couple of weeks and really the whole season. This team
- 26:20Speaker 4: has had some breakout runs. They've run effectively enough in
- 26:23Speaker 4: every game.
- 26:24Speaker 3: I feel like you're talking directly to me, because I
- 26:26Speaker 3: was the guy who was banging the drum saying, hey,
- 26:27Speaker 3: you got two guys you can replace. Replace, and at
- 26:30Speaker 3: times neither Cam nor Brandon Jerri were playing at their
- 26:33Speaker 3: highest level. However, the last two weeks, the offensive line
- 26:37Speaker 3: for continuity's.
- 26:38Speaker 4: Sake, and they didn't make the moves. It's exactly right
- 26:41Speaker 4: because they had to see at some point, Hey, we've
- 26:43Speaker 4: been talking about continuity. Let's see if let's see if
- 26:46Speaker 4: it works in so far now.
- 26:47Speaker 3: They've shut me up because that group right now is
- 26:49Speaker 3: playing well and you get the sense that there's another
- 26:52Speaker 3: level in it that they can be even better.
- 26:57Speaker 1: For me, it was about the mental game on Sunday.
- 27:00Speaker 1: I think that was the biggest play that they made
- 27:03Speaker 1: for me. Was because a lot of what we saw
- 27:06Speaker 1: from this team this year was them not responding, them
- 27:09Speaker 1: being hit in.
- 27:10Speaker 2: The mouth and not knowing what to do.
- 27:12Speaker 1: They were able to have the mental toughness that you
- 27:15Speaker 1: need to have in the National Football League.
- 27:17Speaker 2: We talk every week. Every team is good. They're all
- 27:18Speaker 2: professional football players. It's a couple plays and it's being.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Mentally sound and mentally tough and saying, I'm gonna win
- 27:24Speaker 1: this game. When we get the ball back, we're gonna
- 27:26Speaker 1: get a first down. We're gonna put them in field
- 27:27Speaker 1: well stair story.
- 27:28Speaker 4: They have this football back.
- 27:29Speaker 1: We're gonna not let them get a chance to score.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Travon is gonna get a sack, whatever it might be.
- 27:34Speaker 1: You have to know going in that you have a chance.
- 27:36Speaker 1: And I think at points they defeated themselves, whether it
- 27:39Speaker 1: was Travesy TAM's fumble in the first game, or you know,
- 27:42Speaker 1: when they get down in a different game it's like, oh,
- 27:44Speaker 1: we're out, or we're taking ourselves out of it and
- 27:46Speaker 1: being able to mentally be in that space of we're
- 27:49Speaker 1: gonna win it, I'm gonna get the ball back and
- 27:50Speaker 1: we're gonna find a way.
- 27:51Speaker 2: They found a way.
- 27:52Speaker 3: They did, and they were mentally tough yesterday. John, I
- 27:55Speaker 3: think I'm gonna look at them the next time.
- 27:56Speaker 6: They're in that situation.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Can they carry it through? Right? I don't want to
- 28:00Speaker 3: discredit at all. You were home, we would throwbacks. There's
- 28:03Speaker 3: a lot of emotion.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Right.
- 28:04Speaker 3: What happens when you're on the road at some point
- 28:07Speaker 3: and you face it again? Can you dial that back in?
- 28:09Speaker 3: That's what Doug is going to be working now, right.
- 28:12Speaker 3: The head coach is also the head psychologist. He's going
- 28:14Speaker 3: to be working to make sure that this team can
- 28:16Speaker 3: dial it in and be able to call on it
- 28:18Speaker 3: when they need it next in a not so friendly environment.
- 28:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I said earlier in the show, I thought the
- 28:24Speaker 4: biggest moment for Trevor was the last series, because, as
- 28:28Speaker 4: you said, Kai, you felt all game or really for
- 28:33Speaker 4: like what the last thirty minutes, for three or four
- 28:36Speaker 4: times you feel like they had earned it. Okay, they
- 28:38Speaker 4: did it all right, they got that, and all of
- 28:41Speaker 4: a sudden they hadn't. So you have to pick yourself
- 28:44Speaker 4: back up and then have a calm drive with a
- 28:46Speaker 4: couple of big passes. I thought it was a big
- 28:50Speaker 4: moment for him and we will see how it carries.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Forward, understanding the job in front of you and executing,
- 28:55Speaker 1: and they did that on Sunday.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Stay with us here. We got a lot going on

- 29:25Speaker 9: Anything, honestly, and I'm going to continue to do that
- 29:27Speaker 9: even when you have a good game. I mean, it's
- 29:30Speaker 9: that stuff doesn't matter. You know, you can't listen to
- 29:32Speaker 9: the good or the bad. So I do think stuff
- 29:36Speaker 9: that does get through and I'm sure there's a lot
- 29:38Speaker 9: of questions like what's going on with the Jags?
- 29:39Speaker 6: What's this? What's that? After four weeks?
- 29:41Speaker 9: And good, you know, we'll use that as a chip
- 29:44Speaker 9: on our shoulder and have that us against the world
- 29:46Speaker 9: mentality and bring us closer together. And I think that
- 29:48Speaker 9: that's what good teams do. So but I also think
- 29:51Speaker 9: you don't want to let that stuff creep in because
- 29:53Speaker 9: it's really about the guys in that building and the
- 29:56Speaker 9: work we put in, and you know, it's I'm just
- 29:59Speaker 9: proud of the group.
- 30:00Speaker 1: It was a great day quarterback Trevor Lawrence tuning out
- 30:03Speaker 1: the noise and got their first win of the season
- 30:06Speaker 1: this week, And that's probably a wise advice for.
- 30:08Speaker 2: The whole team.
- 30:09Speaker 3: Listen, he can turn it down a little bit with
- 30:11Speaker 3: his play, but you can't eliminate the noise. The league
- 30:14Speaker 3: is is what it is today, the lucrative business opportunity
- 30:18Speaker 3: because of the interest level, and the interest level creates
- 30:20Speaker 3: noise when you're rowing four.
- 30:22Speaker 6: But good for him. He shouldn't be listening to this
- 30:23Speaker 6: kind of stuff.
- 30:24Speaker 4: It's all noise.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Yeah right, Well, at least he's not turning to Jag exam.
- 30:30Speaker 1: But we are praising him today, Trevor, so we'll tell
- 30:32Speaker 1: you about it later. What are you guys looking forward
- 30:34Speaker 1: to this week?
- 30:34Speaker 2: Who you're talking to? What's the focus before we head
- 30:37Speaker 2: out to Linmon.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Sort of wait and see, we'll see what the weak
- 30:42Speaker 4: brains in terms of the storm, right, So basically getting
- 30:48Speaker 4: a feel for how they're going to respond to going
- 30:50Speaker 4: and then getting a feel for how they respond to
- 30:52Speaker 4: this victory, getting the steps toward the right direction.
- 30:55Speaker 6: I'm not a weather man.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Appears though, to be worsening right if you follow the stories,
- 30:59Speaker 3: and that affects families, right, These players leave their families behind.
- 31:04Speaker 3: So the organization will do the best they can to
- 31:07Speaker 3: make sure that everyone is covered right, that everyone has
- 31:10Speaker 3: a solution, so that they're not over there worrying, because
- 31:13Speaker 3: you can only imagine what that would be like, and
- 31:16Speaker 3: not just for them, but for all of us who
- 31:18Speaker 3: are supposed to be in London for.
- 31:19Speaker 6: The next ten days.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Yes, weather permitting, everyone stay safe. We'll keep an eye
- 31:23Speaker 1: on things, weather permitting. We will have our one hundredth
- 31:25Speaker 1: episode of JAGXAM on Wednesday.
- 31:27Speaker 2: You want to tune in for that.
- 31:28Speaker 1: We're going to be giving away some prizes, including those
- 31:31Speaker 1: new throwback jerseys.
- 31:32Speaker 2: So tune in for that.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Stay safe, we'll keep you posted as this week goes along,
- 31:36Speaker 1: and enjoy to win.
