- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. Aaron Rodgers says, some people can
- 0:12Speaker 1: handle the truth. Is he right? We'll tell you what
- 0:16Speaker 1: the Packers quarterback had to say Wednesday. I ended they're
- 0:18Speaker 1: a huge game on Sunday. We're live in Tampa as well.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Is this the get right game for the Bucketeers or
- 0:24Speaker 1: should the same be said for the Ravens will go
- 0:26Speaker 1: to Raymond James and this guy's the first place quarterback.
- 0:31Speaker 1: We're live in Seattle, QB, the Seahawks, Gino Smith, NFL Now,
- 0:35Speaker 1: whatever network. No matter how many times I say it,
- 0:46Speaker 1: it's still feels weird. Steve Whitche, doesn't it that this
- 0:48Speaker 1: is week eight? I was thinking about that today. We're
- 0:51Speaker 1: at the midway point, sort of sort of of the season.
- 0:55Speaker 1: The week is blowing. Body still messes it up, but yeah,
- 0:58Speaker 1: we're kind of basically halfway there. White. I'm Andrews Ciciliano.
- 1:01Speaker 1: This is NFL Now on a game day. The trade
- 1:04Speaker 1: deadline is Tuesday. We had a former first round pick
- 1:07Speaker 1: only a year ago dealt earlier this morning. We'll tell
- 1:11Speaker 1: you about that and where he is going Momentarily, let's open. However,
- 1:15Speaker 1: with Week eight kick off here the Ravens of the
- 1:18Speaker 1: Bucketeers shortly after ap m Eastern time, this evening prime
- 1:22Speaker 1: video of the Pirate Ship Raymond James Stadium. The Bucketeers
- 1:25Speaker 1: a first place team to three and four, the Ravens
- 1:28Speaker 1: a first place team as well, at four and three
- 1:31Speaker 1: high there Sarah Walsh, the first place team try to
- 1:34Speaker 1: get their quarterback going. Not as if Lamar Jackson's you know,
- 1:37Speaker 1: playing poorly, but the first two weeks of the you
- 1:40Speaker 1: remember them six weeks ago when he's throwing these bombs
- 1:44Speaker 1: and he's amazing. They would love to see that guy tonight,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and they just haven't seen consistently, right, Like, this team
- 1:49Speaker 1: is won a game, they've lost a game, they've won
- 1:50Speaker 1: a game, they've lost the games, so they really want
- 1:52Speaker 1: to string something together. And then to your point, if
- 1:54Speaker 1: you go back over the first three games of this season,
- 1:56Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson and this Ravens offense led the league in scoring.
- 1:59Speaker 1: They were averaging more than thirty three points a game.
- 2:02Speaker 1: And then pass that well, it's really dropped off his
- 2:05Speaker 1: passer rating, his drop They are now averaging just a
- 2:07Speaker 1: little more than twenty points a game. That's too fewer touchdowns,
- 2:11Speaker 1: so they want to get back to what they were
- 2:12Speaker 1: doing in the first part of the season. Well, why
- 2:14Speaker 1: have things changed. Lamar is being pressured more than anybody
- 2:18Speaker 1: else in terms of being blitz He's been forced out
- 2:20Speaker 1: of the pocket and that's where they've had some issues.
- 2:23Speaker 1: This is a Bucks team that typically is thought of
- 2:25Speaker 1: as a team that's going to go after you and blitz,
- 2:26Speaker 1: but the Bucks have been blitzing at the lowest rate
- 2:29Speaker 1: since Todd Bowls has come to Tampa so far. Now,
- 2:32Speaker 1: Lamar is very good, obviously with his legs. The Bucks
- 2:35Speaker 1: are very well aware of that. He is fifth in
- 2:37Speaker 1: the league and rushing right now, and now he gets
- 2:39Speaker 1: a Buck secondary that is beyond banged up. They have
- 2:42Speaker 1: allowed rushing yards in a way we have not really
- 2:45Speaker 1: seen here in Tampa. So could that be the cure
- 2:47Speaker 1: for Lamar Jackson and company. Lamar and the Ravens have
- 2:51Speaker 1: not been especially good in the fourth quarter. That has
- 2:53Speaker 1: been a point of emphasis. They want to be better there.
- 2:55Speaker 1: He has thirteen passing touchdowns, only one of them has
- 2:58Speaker 1: come in the fourth quarter. That could match up well
- 3:01Speaker 1: for the Ravens against a Bucks defense that Todd Bowls
- 3:04Speaker 1: has said, he has con earns about them being fatigued.
- 3:06Speaker 1: We have seen breakdowns in the fourth quarter, and Todd
- 3:09Speaker 1: points to them being fatigued. And the reality is is
- 3:11Speaker 1: his defense has been left out on the field a
- 3:13Speaker 1: lot because his offense can't get it going. So Lamar
- 3:16Speaker 1: Jackson and company, they have some things in their favor
- 3:19Speaker 1: if you look at the matchup on paper right now,
- 3:21Speaker 1: going against a Bucks team that has been reeling as
- 3:24Speaker 1: of late, Andrew and banged up defensively, certainly with another
- 3:27Speaker 1: name added to that list today the Buccaneers officially ruled
- 3:31Speaker 1: out a Keen Hicks, so he's down as well tonight.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Thank you, Sarah Walsh live there in Tampa. Bucks and
- 3:38Speaker 1: the Ravens as we welcome in Mark Ross to this
- 3:41Speaker 1: conversation as well. It kind of it kind of feels
- 3:44Speaker 1: like a get right game here for the Ravens. Mark
- 3:47Speaker 1: that is understanding. They still did win a big division
- 3:50Speaker 1: game last week. Yeah, despite all the doom and gloom
- 3:54Speaker 1: with the Ravens, because those ten point blown leads were
- 3:57Speaker 1: so dramatic, they're pretty much in a good position. They
- 4:00Speaker 1: got a winning record, they're leading division. Lamar's looked like
- 4:03Speaker 1: the m v P at times, So there's a lot
- 4:06Speaker 1: of positives still there for the Ravens. It's just been
- 4:10Speaker 1: if they could have held onto those leads, they'd be
- 4:12Speaker 1: looking even better up there with Buffalo and k C
- 4:15Speaker 1: as some of the best in the league. But when
- 4:18Speaker 1: you look at the schedule the rest of the way
- 4:19Speaker 1: Andrew tonight, they're not favorites. But if you look at
- 4:22Speaker 1: the rest of their schedule and how it sets up there,
- 4:25Speaker 1: you're looking to say they'll probably be favorite up until
- 4:28Speaker 1: that very last game against Cincinnati in Cincinnati. So I
- 4:32Speaker 1: love the Ravens chances here. Of Okay, we know if
- 4:36Speaker 1: we just stopped really imploding and beating ourselves in endgame situations,
- 4:41Speaker 1: go back to the Ravens that we know that you know,
- 4:44Speaker 1: play running football and dynamic football with Lamar Jackson. Let
- 4:49Speaker 1: our defense get after teams when we have the lead.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Get back to the good coaching that we know hardball
- 4:53Speaker 1: can do. I think this is still an under the
- 4:56Speaker 1: radar team that can still make a run despite the
- 5:00Speaker 1: blow leads in the three game streak, and as Sarah mentioned,
- 5:03Speaker 1: the consistency needs to be there. They won one, lost one,
- 5:07Speaker 1: they won last week, so they're due for a loss.
- 5:09Speaker 1: So let's see, Andrew, they can string together some consistency.
- 5:12Speaker 1: That's really the key for this season for the Ravens
- 5:15Speaker 1: up to this point. Yeah, Marcot. As much as this
- 5:17Speaker 1: is a pride check game for the Buccaneers, this is
- 5:19Speaker 1: kind of a character check for the Ravens because everything
- 5:22Speaker 1: on paper says the Ravens their strengths going against the
- 5:24Speaker 1: Buccaneers weaknesses should play out tonight. I mean, look, you know,
- 5:28Speaker 1: Sarah has talked about some of the injuries on defense
- 5:30Speaker 1: and the interior of their defensive front for the Buccaneers,
- 5:33Speaker 1: some things in the secondary that plays right to what
- 5:36Speaker 1: the Ravens do well. But the Ravens do a lot
- 5:38Speaker 1: of things well until certain points of the game. And
- 5:41Speaker 1: this is where you know, the way they finished out
- 5:43Speaker 1: last week against the Browns wasn't the best, but they
- 5:46Speaker 1: were able to close it out. If they are able
- 5:48Speaker 1: to build on that against the Buccaneers team that seems
- 5:51Speaker 1: ripe to to to get beat, then that's that says
- 5:54Speaker 1: something about the Ravens will finally strung together those two games,
- 5:57Speaker 1: they'll finally realize, Okay, we've got something going right here.
- 6:00Speaker 1: But if they don't, then they've got to figure out
- 6:02Speaker 1: exactly what's going on. So again on paper and everything
- 6:06Speaker 1: we've seen the Ravens, I don't know if it's a
- 6:08Speaker 1: get right game, but it should be a get better
- 6:10Speaker 1: game against the Buccaneers. But again I think the Buccaneers
- 6:13Speaker 1: are gonna show a little pride tonight and we'll see.
- 6:15Speaker 1: It's a it's a big test character wised or both
- 6:17Speaker 1: of these two. And it's a big ten day window
- 6:19Speaker 1: here for the Ravens. They have the odd back to
- 6:21Speaker 1: back NFC road games in prime time schedule here next
- 6:26Speaker 1: week there Monday night in New Orleans, so heading back
- 6:30Speaker 1: to the NFC South and then they get a by
- 6:32Speaker 1: so huge ten days they can win these two. They
- 6:36Speaker 1: go to the bye, get a little healthy, and sit
- 6:38Speaker 1: back and watch the rest of the af C North
- 6:40Speaker 1: fight it out. Thank you, Mark Cross, Thanks Steve White.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Let's get to one of the games at four o'clock
- 6:45Speaker 1: coming up on Sunday. It's the first place Giants, the
- 6:49Speaker 1: first place Seahawks after New York somehow pull that out
- 6:51Speaker 1: again last Sunday. They kept Christian Kirk out of the
- 6:56Speaker 1: end zone with no time left on the clock and
- 6:58Speaker 1: they go to six and one, and now they go
- 7:03Speaker 1: to Seattle years Ryan Boldinger, Jeff Chitty here and Jeff
- 7:08Speaker 1: they go there with a great rushing attack. What's the
- 7:11Speaker 1: game plan here that the Seahawks need? The game plan
- 7:15Speaker 1: is stop the run. That's first and foremost for this team, Andrew,
- 7:19Speaker 1: because they have one of the worst rushing defenses in
- 7:21Speaker 1: the NFL. They ranked twenty nine in that department. And
- 7:25Speaker 1: the Giants are coming in with a very formidable run game. Obviously,
- 7:28Speaker 1: say Kwon Barkley, as Pete Carroll said, as a dynamic runner,
- 7:32Speaker 1: great balanced create, fissioning, great explosiveness. But a couple of
- 7:35Speaker 1: that what Daniel Jones bring us in the run game,
- 7:37Speaker 1: he helps say Kwon Barkley get joined because he's a
- 7:40Speaker 1: weapon as well with his legs, his ability to run
- 7:42Speaker 1: the football. He saw it last week when both those
- 7:44Speaker 1: players went over a hundred yards. This game could be
- 7:47Speaker 1: very much like that New Orleans game a few weeks
- 7:49Speaker 1: ago with with the Seahawks where you had Alvin Kamara
- 7:52Speaker 1: and and the quarterback Taysom Hill just going nuts, both
- 7:56Speaker 1: by for a hundred yards. So Baldi, they gotta find
- 7:58Speaker 1: what he spot on this rush attack because the Giants
- 8:00Speaker 1: can run the football. They can and the Seahawks are
- 8:04Speaker 1: running the football as well. Here pretty well. Hey, the
- 8:07Speaker 1: trade deadline is Tuesday. We'll keep telling you that we
- 8:09Speaker 1: have a deal. A guy that was a first round pick,
- 8:13Speaker 1: Indarius Tony, the twenty overall pick just eighteen months ago,
- 8:19Speaker 1: is going to Kansas City. Andy Reid gets a new toy,
- 8:23Speaker 1: but one Tom Pela Sero that has had a hard
- 8:26Speaker 1: time getting on the field. Tony played only twelve games
- 8:30Speaker 1: in two years with the Giants. It's all right, Andrew,
- 8:33Speaker 1: and he missed twelve other games because of injuries to Darius.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Tony has not seen the field since Week two because
- 8:38Speaker 1: of what the team is called a hamstring injury, though
- 8:40Speaker 1: my understanding has been he is close to getting back
- 8:43Speaker 1: on the field quite possibly could be available when the
- 8:46Speaker 1: Chiefs come back from thereby next week. For the Giants,
- 8:49Speaker 1: there's a new regime in town with Brian Dable and
- 8:52Speaker 1: Joe Shane. This was a draft pick made the final
- 8:54Speaker 1: first rounder by the former GM Dave Gettleman. Really did
- 8:57Speaker 1: not necessarily fit and obviously was not able to stay
- 9:00Speaker 1: on the field, So that new regime decided to do
- 9:03Speaker 1: what many others do, which is move on, take the
- 9:05Speaker 1: value now and clear some fully guaranteed money off the books.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Tony has over five million dollars fully guaranteed on his
- 9:11Speaker 1: contract through the Chiefs now take that on and they
- 9:16Speaker 1: feel like there's a potential bargain here, not just the
- 9:18Speaker 1: upside with Tony in terms of his talent if they
- 9:21Speaker 1: can get them healthy and stay on the field, but
- 9:23Speaker 1: also the fact they have him cost controlled now for
- 9:26Speaker 1: twenty three four and then a fifth year option for
- 9:31Speaker 1: as well as they try to unlock things with Andy Reid,
- 9:33Speaker 1: who of course always has plans for those different types
- 9:36Speaker 1: of weapons in his office. Absolutely, and the Giants cut
- 9:38Speaker 1: their losses if you will hear um, I'll use that phrase,
- 9:42Speaker 1: cut their losses with the Broncos to transition to them.
- 9:45Speaker 1: So they're two and five. They're in London this week.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Russell Wilson's hamstring is certainly a question. He was on
- 9:51Speaker 1: the field today has limited but George Peyton, Tom the
- 9:54Speaker 1: Denver Gym, with all kinds of talk swirling about Nathaniel
- 9:57Speaker 1: Hackett's job status only seven games in, met with reporters
- 10:01Speaker 1: today in London and he was pretty emphatic. It was
- 10:06Speaker 1: Andrew He said that he believes in Nathaniel Hackett and
- 10:09Speaker 1: supports Hackett. Not plenty of people who look at those
- 10:12Speaker 1: quotes and say, what else do you expect him to say?
- 10:15Speaker 1: But these were important words for George Payton, as you said, Andrew,
- 10:18Speaker 1: in light of some of the rumors and speculation that
- 10:21Speaker 1: have been out there about Hackett's job. Payton brought up
- 10:24Speaker 1: something else that's important here, which is that four the
- 10:26Speaker 1: Broncos games already this season have been in prime time,
- 10:29Speaker 1: so you have the entire country watching as Nathaniel Hackett,
- 10:32Speaker 1: like a lot of young coaches, makes some mistakes and
- 10:35Speaker 1: makes some decisions that can open them up to criticism.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Here now, everything has been obviously far from perfect, and
- 10:40Speaker 1: that also includes for quarterback Russell Wilson, who has been
- 10:43Speaker 1: limited the past two days in practice. He has made
- 10:46Speaker 1: clear publicly and privately that he wants to play after
- 10:49Speaker 1: sitting out last week. He believes that he can get
- 10:52Speaker 1: on the field this week against the Jaguars, despite dealing
- 10:55Speaker 1: with a partially torn hamstring, a Grade two strain that
- 10:58Speaker 1: is a significant and normally multi week injury. Here, Wilson
- 11:02Speaker 1: has been banged up with several different injuries throughout the
- 11:04Speaker 1: course the season, showing flashes especially in the first halfs
- 11:07Speaker 1: of games Broncos have not been able to finish. That's
- 11:10Speaker 1: not all on Nathaniel Hackett. Obviously, he's a key voice
- 11:14Speaker 1: in that room and it all ultimately comes back upon him.
- 11:17Speaker 1: But by coming out publicly and saying listen, we support him,
- 11:21Speaker 1: we believe in him, that should you would think pour
- 11:24Speaker 1: some water on the idea that the Broncos could be
- 11:26Speaker 1: contemplated changes sooner than later with a guy who lets
- 11:29Speaker 1: remember Andrew They chose after a cross country trip, flying
- 11:34Speaker 1: in interviewing people in for in person. I want to
- 11:36Speaker 1: say they were ten or so candidates that they spend
- 11:38Speaker 1: time with. They sent him on, Nathaniel Hackett for a reason,
- 11:41Speaker 1: and they want to give him the opportunity. Maybe it
- 11:43Speaker 1: changes staff changes, personnel changes to get this thing right
- 11:46Speaker 1: over the second half of the year. Listen, I like
- 11:48Speaker 1: Nathaniel Hackett, but I will throw in this caveat here.
- 11:51Speaker 1: There's a different ownership group there now obviously, and who
- 11:55Speaker 1: knows there two and five they need to win. Would
- 11:57Speaker 1: help if they beat the Jaguars. Certainly this Sunday they
- 12:00Speaker 1: have to standalone games left this one and then one
- 12:03Speaker 1: later in the year against Kansas City all right in
- 12:06Speaker 1: New England, Tom yesterday, it sounds like it's mac Jones.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Mac Jones is on the podium yesterday Bill Belichick said
- 12:12Speaker 1: mac Jones is starting this week, although he for some
- 12:14Speaker 1: reason still won't use the word start. There's a bit
- 12:20Speaker 1: of a Peewee's playhouse thing going on here, Andrew, it
- 12:22Speaker 1: seemed like Bill Belichick was trying to send us the
- 12:24Speaker 1: message without saying the word of the day. Yes, it
- 12:26Speaker 1: certainly appears to mac Jones, as was expected, is going
- 12:29Speaker 1: to be the starter. And importantly, one thing Belichick did
- 12:32Speaker 1: say was he got full reps. We believe he's ready
- 12:35Speaker 1: to go in full, which is different than a week
- 12:38Speaker 1: ago where the Patriots went into that Monday night game
- 12:40Speaker 1: against the Bears believing the mac Jones was coming off
- 12:43Speaker 1: a pretty severe high ankle sprand that he had suffered
- 12:45Speaker 1: about a month before, was not going to be able
- 12:47Speaker 1: to take all the reps, and so they were going
- 12:48Speaker 1: to give Bailey's Appy some time as well. Of course,
- 12:51Speaker 1: there's a whole bunch of other questions here about the
- 12:54Speaker 1: way that Bailey's Appy has played, although certainly the second
- 12:56Speaker 1: half was not as good as those first couple of
- 12:58Speaker 1: drives that he led on Monday Night, the fan reaction
- 13:01Speaker 1: and the zappy fever that seems to have taken over
- 13:03Speaker 1: Boston at this point. But Bill Belichick Andrew has been
- 13:06Speaker 1: supportive of mac Jones, talked in the offseason about how
- 13:09Speaker 1: he had grown light years from the previous year, compliments
- 13:12Speaker 1: you don't normally hear from Bill Belichick. It's very clear
- 13:14Speaker 1: he believes mac Jones can be the guy. He's going
- 13:17Speaker 1: to support him in his own way, and that starts
- 13:20Speaker 1: with him being in the lineup this week again against
- 13:22Speaker 1: the Jets. Against the Jets, exactly did not think that
- 13:25Speaker 1: we would work a Peewee's playhouse reference into the show.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Well done, Tom Pellicero, Patriots, by the way of beating
- 13:31Speaker 1: the Jets twelve consecutive games. NFL Now on a game
- 13:34Speaker 1: day coming up, Thanks Tom. Aaron Rodgers says, you can't
- 13:40Speaker 1: handle the truth. He kind of sort of did. We'll
- 13:45Speaker 1: play it for you straight ahead, NFL Now, NFL Network.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have not looked
- 14:04Speaker 1: good of late. They've lost three consecutive. Rogers says, younger
- 14:08Speaker 1: players or older players, all players need to be more accountable.
- 14:12Speaker 1: If you're not doing your job, you shouldn't get as
- 14:15Speaker 1: many reps. Here's what he said yesterday. I think people
- 14:20Speaker 1: in this society of a hard time hear the truth sometimes.
- 14:24Speaker 1: So I'm an old guy's accountable, masking old guys countable, rables,
- 14:27Speaker 1: going hold guys accountable. J D's an old guys countible
- 14:30Speaker 1: bands going old guys countable, stand up and buckets and
- 14:32Speaker 1: old guys accountable. And we need guys to to focusing
- 14:37Speaker 1: on the mental part of Listen. I'm not gonna be
- 14:38Speaker 1: a robot up here. You know, I don't. I don't
- 14:40Speaker 1: understand why people have a problem with things that are truthful. Um.
- 14:46Speaker 1: You know, I'm calling things the way I see it.
- 14:47Speaker 1: People don't think I need to hear that stuff out.
- 14:49Speaker 1: That's their opinion. But I'm doing what I think is
- 14:51Speaker 1: the best interest of our guys. And I've tried a
- 14:54Speaker 1: lot of different things from a leadership standpoint this year.
- 14:57Speaker 1: And you know, I was just relating my personal feelings
- 15:01Speaker 1: in the situation. I didn't call anybody out by name. Um,
- 15:05Speaker 1: I think we all need to to be on the details,
- 15:08Speaker 1: and that includes me. If I need to have you know,
- 15:11Speaker 1: one on one extra conversations with those guys during the week,
- 15:13Speaker 1: and I'm gonna do that. Said this before Stacy Dales,
- 15:16Speaker 1: I don't have a problem with it. We tell athletes,
- 15:19Speaker 1: you know, don't throw guys out of the bus, don't
- 15:20Speaker 1: don't tell us what you actually feel, why you want.
- 15:23Speaker 1: You want cliches instead. That's why you pay Aaron Rodgers
- 15:26Speaker 1: fifty million to hold people accountable. Josh Allen, the other
- 15:29Speaker 1: quarterback here, has certainly hit on a lot of deep shots,
- 15:32Speaker 1: whether Stefon Diggs or Gabe Davis. And and there's this
- 15:34Speaker 1: weird I don't want to call it a passing of
- 15:36Speaker 1: the towards Stacy here, but you know, to Northern California quarterbacks,
- 15:41Speaker 1: Josh Allen says that obviously he's taken so much of
- 15:43Speaker 1: his game watching Aaron Rodgers growing up. Um, this is
- 15:48Speaker 1: this is fascinating on Sunday, It really is fascinating. It
- 15:52Speaker 1: will be the second meeting of their career. And obviously,
- 15:55Speaker 1: Josh Allen leads the league in pass yards per game,
- 15:58Speaker 1: touchdowns per game. I mean, he's been brilliant this season
- 16:01Speaker 1: coming off the by this week, But to hear the
- 16:03Speaker 1: reverence and the fact of which he speaks about Aaron
- 16:07Speaker 1: Rodgers really cool twelve years in age separate the two.
- 16:10Speaker 1: But he talked yesterday in his press conference about watching
- 16:14Speaker 1: Rogers that was one of the guys he watched growing up.
- 16:16Speaker 1: You mentioned it, Andrew both from California, and he saw
- 16:19Speaker 1: a quarterback that he said did things that nobody else
- 16:22Speaker 1: had really done as far as getting out on the move,
- 16:25Speaker 1: throwing off platform and um the accuracy, just the impeccable accuracy,
- 16:30Speaker 1: and called him dynamic. But he actually said yesterday you
- 16:34Speaker 1: guys that he still will watch Aaron Rodgers and warm
- 16:37Speaker 1: up and from he talked about where his hand starts
- 16:40Speaker 1: to where it finishes and how quick that trigger is. Uh,
- 16:43Speaker 1: just the words of of um respect. I think we're
- 16:48Speaker 1: really impactful yesterday, and this is going to probably be
- 16:51Speaker 1: an emotional game for Josh Allen because of that. And
- 16:54Speaker 1: certainly though he's got a pretty good defense to go
- 16:56Speaker 1: along with that outstanding offense, the number one total, number
- 17:00Speaker 1: one scoring defense that is uh in the scientist room
- 17:05Speaker 1: tinkering away with what they're gonna do against Aaron Rodgers
- 17:08Speaker 1: on on Sunday night. It should be a good one.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Interesting to talk about, like the follow through and all that.
- 17:13Speaker 1: These are two quarterbacks that when I'm at one of
- 17:15Speaker 1: their games. I make a point of watching them warm up.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I know that sounds weird. They both are are They're
- 17:22Speaker 1: fun to watch here. There are two very different players here, um,
- 17:26Speaker 1: but this one's gonna be fun. On Sunday, Thank you,
- 17:28Speaker 1: Dale's the lab. In the Lab Sunday night at Orchard Park.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Sunday afternoon at Looming, that guy and the Seahawks faced,
- 17:37Speaker 1: the Giants will head to Seattle. Talk to Geno Smith
- 17:40Speaker 1: coming up. Geno halst time, stands strong, got some running
- 17:50Speaker 1: the public. Now, I's gonna lay it up off the top.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Got him at that gap to step tip down the
- 17:54Speaker 1: fun he in touchdown. Gino splits down the middle, touchdown.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Geno fires are shot or a beauty the fast from
- 18:05Speaker 1: Gino Smith's Geno play. Gino tops it off in the
- 18:09Speaker 1: flat touchdown, and the Seahawks are just kind of running
- 18:13Speaker 1: these lions. Ragged Smith from the shotgun. Geno steps up
- 18:17Speaker 1: in the pocket, gonna let it fly down the middle,
- 18:20Speaker 1: gunlocking touchdown? Are you kidding me? Holy catfish? On up?
- 18:26Speaker 1: Perfect throw. All Gino Smith does is throw touchdowns. He
- 18:30Speaker 1: has eleven of them this year. He's quarterbacking a first
- 18:34Speaker 1: place team in the NFC West, the Seahawks. In his
- 18:37Speaker 1: life with us now from Seattle, Geno Smith, how are you, man,
- 18:42Speaker 1: I'm doing great? Are you doing? I'm doing well. I
- 18:44Speaker 1: don't know that anybody, Gino back in August would have
- 18:47Speaker 1: like circled Week eight Giant Seahawks is like the Primo
- 18:52Speaker 1: game at four o'clock Eastern time? Could you could you
- 18:55Speaker 1: have seen all of this coming in this kind of spotlight,
- 18:59Speaker 1: in this kind of success. Um, you know, without being
- 19:03Speaker 1: uh sounding again or cocky. Yes, Um, We've been working
- 19:08Speaker 1: hard as a team, and our our guys have been
- 19:10Speaker 1: working hard. We've got the right group of guys. I
- 19:12Speaker 1: think they started back in O t a s with
- 19:14Speaker 1: just the way we prepare, you know, we we were,
- 19:17Speaker 1: you know, really hungry. It seemed like a really hungry
- 19:19Speaker 1: team back then. And uh, let's carried true throughout the
- 19:21Speaker 1: season so far. No, it's not cocky, and it's it's confidence.
- 19:24Speaker 1: And I love what you said to Peter King on Monday.
- 19:27Speaker 1: A lot of quarterbacks praised their coaches. They say the
- 19:30Speaker 1: right things. I want to read this quote, though, Gino,
- 19:31Speaker 1: about what you said about Pete Carroll. Our success so
- 19:34Speaker 1: far starts with the trust and belief of our head coach.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Not many coaches would start two rookies on the old
- 19:40Speaker 1: line of rookie running back to rookie cornerbacks, be comfortable
- 19:43Speaker 1: at the starting quarterback who hasn't played in years. The
- 19:48Speaker 1: message that Pete Carroll sent to all of you with
- 19:50Speaker 1: those moves, how much has that meant? Uh? Just you know,
- 19:56Speaker 1: for me personally, it's meant everything because, uh, you know,
- 19:59Speaker 1: I've been working and I've been here in Seattle backing
- 20:01Speaker 1: up Russell for for three years, and uh, you know,
- 20:04Speaker 1: my only goal was to be seen, you know, to
- 20:06Speaker 1: make sure that obviously I was doing my best for Russell,
- 20:09Speaker 1: but also putting in the work. Man, the hours that
- 20:11Speaker 1: we've spent in the weight room, in the classroom and
- 20:14Speaker 1: just doing all the little things that people may not
- 20:16Speaker 1: see every day, but you know, coach sees it, and
- 20:18Speaker 1: uh for him to reward you know, me with the
- 20:21Speaker 1: opportunity as well as my teammates who have also been
- 20:23Speaker 1: working hard, I think it just speaks volume to the
- 20:26Speaker 1: type of guy he is, the type of coach he is,
- 20:28Speaker 1: and also man, he knows his stuff. You know, he
- 20:30Speaker 1: knows ball players, he knows ball and he's not afraid
- 20:33Speaker 1: to go against the conventional wisdom sometimes. What does this
- 20:36Speaker 1: game mean to you guys as well? And joking before
- 20:38Speaker 1: about the Giants and the Seahawks. Obviously, the Giants putting
- 20:41Speaker 1: together a great season. No joking here, there's six and one.
- 20:43Speaker 1: They find a way to close games out seemingly every week,
- 20:47Speaker 1: and they are in it in the fourth quarter Geno,
- 20:49Speaker 1: seemingly every week. Mm hm. You know this game, Uh,
- 20:54Speaker 1: it's gonna be another big game. And we're about to
- 20:57Speaker 1: reach the mid midway point of the season. The playoff
- 21:01Speaker 1: structure is gonna start to to to build itself out.
- 21:04Speaker 1: And for us man, we want to be in that talk.
- 21:06Speaker 1: We want to be in those talks. And so the
- 21:07Speaker 1: Giants have a great team, uh six and one team,
- 21:10Speaker 1: like you said, they've been you know, finishing in the
- 21:12Speaker 1: fourth quarter. Uh. You know, they have a new coach
- 21:15Speaker 1: who's doing a tremendous job. Se Kwan looks like he's
- 21:18Speaker 1: back to his old self. Their defense is playing well,
- 21:21Speaker 1: Daniel Jones is playing well. And so for us MAN
- 21:24Speaker 1: it's another test um as we always look at these
- 21:26Speaker 1: games as championship opportunities, and this is another one for us.
- 21:30Speaker 1: We look forward to it, man. I think they're gonna
- 21:31Speaker 1: present great challenges, and uh, I look forward to being
- 21:34Speaker 1: up up to those challenges and not trying to put
- 21:36Speaker 1: you in an awkward spot here. I know you and
- 21:37Speaker 1: Russell share the quarterback room here for a while, and
- 21:40Speaker 1: obviously they've had their struggles. I know it means something
- 21:42Speaker 1: for fans. I know the fans they're in Seattle are
- 21:45Speaker 1: are watching every move for Russell and the Broncos. Are
- 21:51Speaker 1: you guys at all in that locker room? Do you
- 21:52Speaker 1: do you keep an eye on it? Man? You know,
- 21:56Speaker 1: I keep not on the entire NFL. And Russell's my brother, Um,
- 22:00Speaker 1: you know, I know he's he's he's going through some things,
- 22:02Speaker 1: uh physically right now with this injury. I pray he
- 22:05Speaker 1: heals up and gets back, you know, really soon. But
- 22:07Speaker 1: he'll be fine. You know, he's gonna he's gonna pull
- 22:09Speaker 1: out of that. He's gonna play. I expect him to
- 22:11Speaker 1: play really well down the stretch. Uh. We're just focusing
- 22:14Speaker 1: on us though, you know, as a team, we're working
- 22:16Speaker 1: on the things that we can do to get better,
- 22:18Speaker 1: not looking outside, not getting caught up in the hype.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Really just grinding. Man. You know you got guys. You
- 22:23Speaker 1: know what I see is guys in the weight room
- 22:25Speaker 1: at six am, you know, four days out the week,
- 22:27Speaker 1: got studying after practice, you know, putting their best foot
- 22:30Speaker 1: forward to be a great, great player and be a
- 22:32Speaker 1: great team. And obviously everyone saw in primetime but happened
- 22:35Speaker 1: week number one. You guys got that win, you beat
- 22:37Speaker 1: the Broncos. You also g you know, after that game,
- 22:40Speaker 1: gave Lisasaulters this like amazing quote. And I think for
- 22:44Speaker 1: all of us sitting at home watching at the couch,
- 22:46Speaker 1: this this awesome, like heartwarming moment. We want to play
- 22:50Speaker 1: that for you one more time. For the folks you said, hey,
- 22:54Speaker 1: brtting you off? Maybe what do you think say to them? Yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 1: they wrote me off. I ain't right back though, that's
- 22:59Speaker 1: the problem. I ain't right back. Let's go congratulations. Just
- 23:05Speaker 1: you know, do you ever plan to right back? Um? No,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I don't. Uh you know. And and that quote was
- 23:14Speaker 1: kind of spur of the moment, but the reality is that, uh,
- 23:17Speaker 1: I think it just says man, hey, look man, you know,
- 23:19Speaker 1: not everyone's gonna believe in you, But what matters is
- 23:22Speaker 1: what you see for yourself and how you believe in
- 23:24Speaker 1: yourself and how the guys around you believe in you.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And also just taking the high road. You know, a
- 23:29Speaker 1: lot of uh things were said, um and a lot
- 23:32Speaker 1: of those things may not have been true, but who
- 23:34Speaker 1: cares about, you know, trying to uh talk about it.
- 23:37Speaker 1: You know, you just gotta take the high road and
- 23:38Speaker 1: keep on going. Let your play do the writing, and
- 23:40Speaker 1: so far it's writing a pretty amazing story here for
- 23:42Speaker 1: this football team. Gino Smith, the first place Seattle Seahawks
- 23:46Speaker 1: get the Giants this week. Good luck, Gino, Thanks for
- 23:48Speaker 1: coming on man, thanks for having me. I love it.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Don't plan it right back, all right, We're gonna write
- 23:56Speaker 1: the story now with this one on t NF to
- 23:58Speaker 1: open up week. The four and three Baltimore Ravens the
- 24:01Speaker 1: three and four Tampa Bay Bucket Airs. Don't know if
- 24:05Speaker 1: you've heard, maybe you haven't. The Buccaneers have lost consecutive games.
- 24:10Speaker 1: High there, Sarah Walsh. Two teams with losing records. How
- 24:14Speaker 1: does Tom Brady avoid? What are they saying losing three
- 24:17Speaker 1: straight games tonight? Well, Mike Evans, his wide receiver, said
- 24:23Speaker 1: if they lost three straight, that would be terrible. That's
- 24:26Speaker 1: his unusual circumstances here in Tampa certainly since Tom Brady
- 24:29Speaker 1: came to town. But for as difficult as things have
- 24:33Speaker 1: been for this offense, I think people understand if there
- 24:35Speaker 1: is one person on this entire planet that can turn
- 24:39Speaker 1: things around, it is the guy that plays quarterback here
- 24:42Speaker 1: in Tampa. Now, this is not all on Tom. There
- 24:45Speaker 1: are a lot of things that are causing problems for
- 24:47Speaker 1: the Buccaneers offense. And I don't think you can underestimate
- 24:50Speaker 1: what the absence of Rob Gronkowski has met this season,
- 24:53Speaker 1: because right now Brady is playing with two rookie tight ends.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Their veteran tight end, Cameron brad has been out. They
- 24:59Speaker 1: have struggled to run the football on a remade offensive line,
- 25:03Speaker 1: and then Russell Gauge out again tonight. Julio Jones, who's
- 25:06Speaker 1: missed several games this season. He's a big question mark tonight.
- 25:09Speaker 1: You never know what you're going to get out of him.
- 25:10Speaker 1: So that leaves Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on the field,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and that's really kind of been it for Brady. There
- 25:15Speaker 1: have been questions in the red zone. They've struggled there,
- 25:18Speaker 1: They've struggled in short yardage situations, and then one thing
- 25:21Speaker 1: Tom called attention to this week is the way that
- 25:24Speaker 1: this team has played out of the gates. And I
- 25:26Speaker 1: don't like to make too much about the opening drive
- 25:28Speaker 1: of a game, right because there's plenty of games still
- 25:29Speaker 1: left to be played. But this defense for the Buccaneers
- 25:32Speaker 1: has given up points early on in games and the
- 25:35Speaker 1: offense has struggled to get going. And Tom pointed to
- 25:37Speaker 1: that this week and said, look, we're not playing with
- 25:40Speaker 1: the lead because we haven't earned it. And then when
- 25:42Speaker 1: you're not playing with the lead, the other team is
- 25:43Speaker 1: playing the way they want and we can't do that.
- 25:46Speaker 1: It was very telling. He was asked, you have hope
- 25:48Speaker 1: that this offense is finally going to start to jell
- 25:50Speaker 1: Andy said, there's hope, and there's the reality, and you
- 25:53Speaker 1: have to focus on the reality because the reality is
- 25:56Speaker 1: we have not played our best football Andrew, they have not,
- 25:59Speaker 1: and the reality is this as well. This is a
- 26:01Speaker 1: difficult stretch of three games, the Ravens at home, then
- 26:06Speaker 1: the Rams at home. Member the Rams knocked him out
- 26:08Speaker 1: of the postseason last year in that building. And then
- 26:11Speaker 1: thank you, Sarah Walsh. It's a trip to Germany. The
- 26:16Speaker 1: NFL's headed to Germany for the first time, and you
- 26:20Speaker 1: could get in on the action. We're sending one lucky
- 26:22Speaker 1: fan plus three guests in Munich to watch Tom Brady
- 26:25Speaker 1: and the Bucks tete take on DK metcalf in the Seahawks.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Many fans will enjoy your week in Munich that also
- 26:34Speaker 1: features a buying Munich year for football match. No Princess
- 26:37Speaker 1: necessary to enter inter rules is the NFL dot COM's
- 26:41Speaker 1: last Munich Snookstay all right, let's step ahead to Monday.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Joe Burrow on Halloween takes the Bengals into Cleveland to
- 26:51Speaker 1: face the team he's never been. That's right, Joe Burrow
- 26:53Speaker 1: oh for three against the Browns. Bengals haven't beaten Cleveland
- 26:58Speaker 1: since the twenty nineteen Freddie Kitchens regular season finale. You know,
- 27:06Speaker 1: in the past, they've kind of just done what they
- 27:08Speaker 1: do and they're good at it, and the spots of
- 27:12Speaker 1: their defense and what their defense is built to do
- 27:14Speaker 1: is kind of keep everything in front. And so we'll
- 27:18Speaker 1: see what they do. I'm sure they'll have a couple
- 27:20Speaker 1: of couple of mix ups for us, like everybody does.
- 27:21Speaker 1: But we're anticipating to do what they do. And again,
- 27:26Speaker 1: this game is Monday. Mark Ross, Steve White back with
- 27:28Speaker 1: me that the historical little nugget there about Burrow never
- 27:32Speaker 1: beating them in fourgn row. That's nice, but the reality
- 27:35Speaker 1: right now and Burrow reminded everyone I think of this
- 27:37Speaker 1: today is listen, we've also won four to five and
- 27:40Speaker 1: they've lost four in a row. You're not gonna make
- 27:43Speaker 1: an orange hell With's reference on Halloween. On Halloween, they're
- 27:46Speaker 1: going to be the two teams with orange. Help. There
- 27:48Speaker 1: you go. Now to get back to your question, Cleveland
- 27:51Speaker 1: could not have picked the worst time to be losing
- 27:54Speaker 1: the way they're losing against the team that has found
- 27:57Speaker 1: its way. The Cincinnati Bengals offensively seemed to be playing
- 28:00Speaker 1: like the Bengals. We thought they were the big play
- 28:03Speaker 1: Joey Burrow. What they're doing with Jamaar Chase and t
- 28:05Speaker 1: Higgins and Tyler board Boys in this passing game has
- 28:08Speaker 1: opened things up. But also the Browns are not great
- 28:11Speaker 1: against the run. So if the Bengals mark are able
- 28:14Speaker 1: to get out early with plays like this incredible throw
- 28:17Speaker 1: just just a throat, if they're able to get out
- 28:19Speaker 1: early in the passing game, make Cleveland pay for behind.
- 28:23Speaker 1: That's where Joe Mixon and Tomaja p Ran can get
- 28:27Speaker 1: going on the ground. And that's where I think Cincinnati
- 28:30Speaker 1: might open up their offense even a little bit more
- 28:32Speaker 1: again against the Brown's team right now lost four straight,
- 28:35Speaker 1: just not playing right. See, that's why we had such
- 28:39Speaker 1: high hopes for the Bengals. Let sleeping dogs lie there.
- 28:41Speaker 1: They lost two in a row, but you know, they
- 28:43Speaker 1: had the talent, probably the most skilled talent of anybody
- 28:47Speaker 1: in the league, led by Joe Burrow. And we know
- 28:49Speaker 1: the explosiveness of Jamaar and Chase and te Higgins and
- 28:53Speaker 1: Tyler Boy, but we really haven't had a huge game
- 28:57Speaker 1: from Joe Mixing as you mentioned, and he's always due
- 29:00Speaker 1: for a huge breakout game running the ball if they
- 29:03Speaker 1: get ahead. But also a couple with that is this
- 29:06Speaker 1: underrated Bengals defense who has not allowed a touchdown in
- 29:10Speaker 1: the second half this season, and it's the only the
- 29:13Speaker 1: third team in the last fifty years of the NFL
- 29:16Speaker 1: to do that. So you've got the explosive pass game,
- 29:19Speaker 1: you still have the potential of Joe Mixing in the
- 29:21Speaker 1: run game, and now you've got this defense that is
- 29:24Speaker 1: really playing at the highest level of the league, shutting
- 29:27Speaker 1: teams down in the second half. This is a Bengals
- 29:30Speaker 1: team that was the Super Bowl last year, and the
- 29:32Speaker 1: way they're playing right now could be right back in
- 29:35Speaker 1: the mix for it. Yeah, maright. I mean those Bengal
- 29:37Speaker 1: safeties Von Bell and Jesse Bates. I mean they just
- 29:39Speaker 1: seem to be everywhere at every shot, whether it's in
- 29:42Speaker 1: the other team's pack field or on the back end
- 29:44Speaker 1: of that second year. They're playing exceptionally well as a
- 29:47Speaker 1: tandem right now. I want to clarify one thing I said.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Burrow didn't point out that they've lost four and orrow.
- 29:51Speaker 1: He he instead was focusing on the now as opposed
- 29:54Speaker 1: to the losing streaks against them historically, and again it's
- 29:57Speaker 1: been four straight. Burrow was also asked about Halloween, said
- 30:02Speaker 1: that he's not a big costume guy, although he did
- 30:05Speaker 1: and stress as the Red Power Rangers a six year old.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I think this young man is right around six as well,
- 30:10Speaker 1: maybe a little bit older. I think this costume wins
- 30:12Speaker 1: so far. This is Joe Burrow dressed as Jamar Chase,
- 30:18Speaker 1: So he's not just dressed as Joe Burrow. He's dressed
- 30:20Speaker 1: as Joe Burrow dressed as Jamaar Chase with the earbuds.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Well done, Well done, Well done, little man. Happy Halloween.
- 30:29Speaker 1: By the way, what are you dressing as. I'm dressing
- 30:32Speaker 1: as a fifty six year old man handing out candy.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna be dressing as a middle aged sportscaster on Monday.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Tuned in to see that show. It'll be fun. NFL
