- 0:00Speaker 1: I don't know how you found us. But I'm so
- 0:03Speaker 1: thankful that you did. It's John Jay and Rich. Welcome in.
- 0:08Speaker 1: It's Arizona Spin on Fox 10+.
- 0:10Speaker 2: That was giving Wakanda forever, but it worked.
- 0:15Speaker 1: It's the wrong way. This is more like the Degeneration
- 0:20Speaker 1: X in the WWE in the mid-90s. Wakanda forever is
- 0:25Speaker 1: more up here. Oh, okay. Are you proud of me? Educating.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Educating.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Are you proud of me?
- 0:31Speaker 3: For what?
- 0:32Speaker 1: For, well, I was hoping you were going to be like, oh,
- 0:36Speaker 1: you know the Wakanda Forever sign.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Oh.
- 0:38Speaker 1: And be like, no, that's not it. Oh. I officially
- 0:41Speaker 1: hit my 50th class at Orange Theory Fitness.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Congratulations.
- 0:45Speaker 1: In Old Town Scottsdale, yeah.
- 0:47Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I don't mean to brag, but I am the fittest
- 0:50Speaker 1: person you know.
- 0:51Speaker 2: So what do you get when you reach like 50 classes?
- 0:53Speaker 2: Do they just like charge your credit card again?
- 0:55Speaker 1: They took a picture of me.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Oh, and you got posted on their Instagram?
- 0:59Speaker 1: Not yet. I'm waiting.
- 1:00Speaker 3: You better post it on Siri.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I'm patiently waiting. What is it? Because I'm 50 classes in, and, like,
- 1:10Speaker 1: I think the gym is fine. I kind of go
- 1:12Speaker 1: just for the community of it. I kind of just
- 1:15Speaker 1: like the people that go there.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Like, what keeps you motivated to go? Because, like, I
- 1:23Speaker 1: don't know, man. I've... joined various gyms and at some
- 1:29Speaker 1: point i'm just like like now that i'm like i
- 1:32Speaker 1: don't know now that i'm kind of realizing i'm getting
- 1:34Speaker 1: better at it like i'm i'm less embarrassed to go
- 1:37Speaker 1: right but i don't know that i still want to
- 1:40Speaker 1: go like what makes you want to.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Go to like go work out yeah i don't like
- 1:45Speaker 2: truth be told like it's a good well yeah but
- 1:48Speaker 2: i mean but i only say that because like I
- 1:53Speaker 2: was an elite athlete my whole life. Like from the time,
- 1:57Speaker 2: I mean, I was in competitive gymnastics from the time
- 2:01Speaker 2: I was four to eight. And then I wanted to
- 2:03Speaker 2: be like my sister. So from the time I was
- 2:05Speaker 2: eight to 22, I played competitive basketball and that was
- 2:09Speaker 2: literally all my life.
- 2:11Speaker 3: All I did was work out.
- 2:13Speaker 2: So I guess during that time in my life, what
- 2:15Speaker 2: motivated me was that I wanted to be the best.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I wanted to crush everyone because I was little, I
- 2:20Speaker 2: was smaller than everyone. So it was always like, She's
- 2:22Speaker 2: too small. She can't play. She's too, she's going to
- 2:25Speaker 2: get ran over. And I played with a chip on
- 2:27Speaker 2: my shoulder. And so every single person that hated on
- 2:30Speaker 2: me when I was younger, oh, I was out to
- 2:33Speaker 2: get you.
- 2:34Speaker 3: And so that's kind of what, it was like, I
- 2:35Speaker 3: think it was like the evil in me.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Yeah. But like now as an adult, like what would
- 2:40Speaker 2: motivate me to go to the gym?
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Like maybe like because I'd be skinny and slim.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 2:47Speaker 3: I'm not helpful to you right now in your phase
- 2:49Speaker 3: of life.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Well, no. Well, it should be a compliment because I
- 2:53Speaker 1: just assumed that you did.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I am definitely not active as much as
- 2:59Speaker 2: I should be.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Well, and part of the motivation this week for me
- 3:05Speaker 1: was last weekend. There was this really cool event, and
- 3:08Speaker 1: I don't know how well it was advertised, but it
- 3:11Speaker 1: was called Bruzology Beer Fest.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:15Speaker 3: That's a dinosaur thing?
- 3:17Speaker 1: It was a beer fest at the Arizona Science Center.
- 3:21Speaker 1: And when I tell you I had the best time,
- 3:24Speaker 1: I cannot be more specific. It was silly in all
- 3:30Speaker 1: the right ways. And they give you these little tasting
- 3:34Speaker 1: cards or whatever to go to each brewery and try
- 3:36Speaker 1: something or whatever. And not any of the breweries stamped
- 3:40Speaker 1: my card. And so I was just done for the evening.
- 3:45Speaker 1: And we did dinosaur things, and they have this dome thing.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Have you been to the Science Center?
- 3:49Speaker 3: Yeah, our prom was there.
- 3:51Speaker 1: This is the first time I've ever been to the
- 3:52Speaker 1: Arizona Science Center.
- 3:53Speaker 2: It was actually, can you imagine being, like, 16 in
- 3:56Speaker 2: your prom dress, like, running.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Around that place? I mean, a little bit.
- 4:00Speaker 3: It was actually really cool.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and they have this dome movie thing that you
- 4:06Speaker 1: can go to. We got to do that, too. And
- 4:08Speaker 1: I'll tell you, after, like, I was a little nervous.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Oh.
- 4:13Speaker 1: About my tum-tum in there because it's almost like a planetarium.
- 4:18Speaker 1: But you really enjoyed it? If you go, you sit
- 4:20Speaker 1: in the first four rows, I've learned. Oh, okay. Yeah,
- 4:24Speaker 1: it was awesome. And the local breweries there were great too.
- 4:30Speaker 1: All very just nice people.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I love it when there's things locally going on in
- 4:35Speaker 2: our community. Just a couple weekends ago, I went to
- 4:38Speaker 2: the Hot Chick. Have you been to the Hot Chick
- 4:40Speaker 2: in Old Town Scottsdale? It's such a vibe because it's
- 4:42Speaker 2: not on the strip where all the clubs are. It's
- 4:45Speaker 2: a little bit more like you can sit down at
- 4:47Speaker 2: the bar.
- 4:48Speaker 1: And the food is legitimate as well.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really good. The drinks are good. And if
- 4:52Speaker 2: you want to get up and dance, you can. It
- 4:54Speaker 2: kind of ebbs and flows. I feel like it's definitely
- 4:56Speaker 2: a pregame spot and then the place people go after
- 4:58Speaker 2: the clubs too. So it's definitely one of those. But
- 5:01Speaker 2: right now, they're doing their themed Halloween bar. And last year,
- 5:05Speaker 2: I went, and it was Highway to Hell, which was
- 5:07Speaker 2: really cool. But this year, they did Scooby-Doo Spooky Island theme.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Y'all. Did you dress up?
- 5:15Speaker 3: No, I should have, though.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Everyone, all the cute little bartenders and stuff were all
- 5:18Speaker 2: dressed up as, like, Scooby and Jaggy and Velma and
- 5:21Speaker 2: Daphne and stuff. But it was really cool because they
- 5:23Speaker 2: literally transformed the hot chick into Spooky Island, and they
- 5:26Speaker 2: have the Scooby-Doo movie on repeat.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Have you ever seen that movie?
- 5:29Speaker 2: The.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it depends which Scooby-Doo movie.
- 5:32Speaker 3: The Spooky Island one.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I don't know it.
- 5:34Speaker 2: The one where they go to the island and Shaggy,
- 5:36Speaker 2: he meets Mary Jane on the plane.
- 5:38Speaker 3: And they have, what's the little baby Scooby-Doo?
- 5:41Speaker 2: Scrappy?
- 5:41Speaker 3: The Scrappy-Doo comes in. Scrappy-Doo is like the whole, that guy, Mr. Bean,
- 5:46Speaker 3: he's in the movie.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Oh, is it, wait, is it a live action movie?
- 5:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a live action.
- 5:53Speaker 1: With like Freddie Prinze Jr.? Yeah. I don't remember anything
- 5:55Speaker 1: about it. Oh, really?
- 5:57Speaker 3: You need to go rewatch, well, go watch it. It's
- 5:59Speaker 3: on at the Hot Chick on Loop.
- 6:00Speaker 1: You know who directed that movie? Who? James Gunn. Who's that?
- 6:04Speaker 1: You know who James Gunn?
- 6:05Speaker 2: No.
- 6:06Speaker 1: He also ended up directing Guardians of the Galaxy. Oh, really?
- 6:10Speaker 1: The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. And now he currently
- 6:13Speaker 1: runs the DC division for Warner Brothers.
- 6:18Speaker 3: That's really cool.
- 6:19Speaker 2: So, I mean, that makes sense that he created that
- 6:21Speaker 2: masterpiece because.
- 6:22Speaker 3: The movie, it's like, you need to go and watch.
- 6:25Speaker 2: It if you don't remember anything about it. It is
- 6:27Speaker 2: just such a good movie, a cult classic. And they just,
- 6:30Speaker 2: turned it all the way in there. I thought it
- 6:31Speaker 2: was so sick. Like, you know those sandwiches at Shaggy? Like,
- 6:35Speaker 2: you can order one there and eat one. Oh, really?
- 6:38Speaker 3: It was the coolest thing.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Well, you can't do it now. Yeah, you can.
- 6:43Speaker 3: It's till Halloween.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I don't know these things. It's a Halloween-themed bar. I
- 6:48Speaker 1: thought it was, like, to kick off spooky season thing. No,
- 6:51Speaker 1: it's there. It's there. So good. Yeah, I don't know. It's, like,
- 6:55Speaker 1: I think it's weird because, like, where I grew up,
- 6:58Speaker 1: like there are legitimately more bars in the Valley than
- 7:01Speaker 1: there are people in my hometown. And so it's like,
- 7:03Speaker 1: that stuff didn't, wasn't like openly available. And so it's like,
- 7:07Speaker 1: if I can go to a Scooby-Doo themed bar or
- 7:11Speaker 1: a beer fest at the damn science center, you're good.
- 7:14Speaker 1: You signed me up for both of those things. I won't,
- 7:16Speaker 1: I won't, I won't ask any questions. Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 2: I actually think you and your wife would really, and
- 7:20Speaker 2: all your friends, you have a lot of adult friends.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Listen, if you were like, Let me pose this. If
- 7:28Speaker 1: you're like, you have a lot of kid friends. Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I feel like it's nice that you were specific.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:36Speaker 1: That I have adult friends.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Well, your kids have the kids friends. That's how you're
- 7:39Speaker 3: friends with the adult friends.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 1: That's how I have friends. Right.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Because your kids.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Unless you take them to the hot chick.
- 7:48Speaker 1: My personality is, is not for everyone. We know this.
- 7:52Speaker 3: So we have learned.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I've got so much I want to cover still. I
- 7:58Speaker 1: want to hear about the R & B tour.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm still recovering.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Talk about some TV stuff and so much more. So
- 8:06Speaker 1: come back to Arizona Spin right here on Fox 10+.
- 8:11Speaker 1: If chaos was a radio show, you're listening to it.
- 8:16Speaker 1: It's John Jay and Rich. Welcome back. It's Arizona Spin
- 8:19Speaker 1: on Fox 10+. My name is Nick. That's Peyton. You
- 8:23Speaker 1: can catch the John Jay and Rich show every weekday
- 8:26Speaker 1: morning from 5 until 10 on 104.7 KISS FM. Peyton,
- 8:32Speaker 1: you saw Mr. Brown and Mr. Raymond this week on
- 8:36Speaker 1: the R & B tour. How was it?
- 8:38Speaker 3: It was so good.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Chris Brown and Usher, they got together for the Raymond
- 8:44Speaker 2: and Brown tour, which was the R & B tour.
- 8:47Speaker 2: And truth be told, Nick, I'm one of the lucky ones.
- 8:50Speaker 2: I have seen Chris Brown before. No joke, probably five
- 8:53Speaker 2: times in my life.
- 8:54Speaker 3: That's a lot.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I mean, I know you get to go see your
- 8:56Speaker 2: bands and your stuff like that, but Chris Brown is
- 8:59Speaker 2: a three-hour show.
- 9:01Speaker 3: That's a lot of Chris Brown in one lifetime. In
- 9:05Speaker 3: my opinion.
- 9:06Speaker 2: And so when I went, I really was going for
- 9:10Speaker 2: Usher because I've never seen Usher before. And Usher is...
- 9:14Speaker 2: like brings back the nostalgia memories for me. Like my
- 9:18Speaker 2: mom was a huge Usher fan, like in the car,
- 9:20Speaker 2: it was Usher, Alicia Keys, R Kelly, like all the
- 9:24Speaker 2: R and B people that you.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Just listened to.
- 9:27Speaker 2: And so I was pumped to see him and I
- 9:31Speaker 2: had the best time, truly an experience. And it was
- 9:36Speaker 2: the R and B tour. When we got to the arena,
- 9:39Speaker 2: I was with my best friend, Kelsey.
- 9:40Speaker 3: We were like, It's a little hot and heavy in here.
- 9:43Speaker 2: And we realized that like Chris Brown and Usher were
- 9:45Speaker 2: going back to back on baby making songs.
- 9:48Speaker 1: And everybody was just sweaty.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Everyone was just sweaty and just loving it.
- 9:53Speaker 1: For a variety of reasons.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I mean, and these are like beautiful men just up
- 9:57Speaker 2: there that are dancing and vibing and they had all.
- 10:00Speaker 3: The pool dancers. And it was really a great experience.
- 10:04Speaker 2: And in my opinion, I liked it better than the
- 10:06Speaker 2: Chris Brown concert because they went, like, back to.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Back to back to back to back.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Okay, so they alternated. It wasn't... Yes. That's cool.
- 10:13Speaker 3: And it was cool. I don't know. I felt like
- 10:15Speaker 3: the stage setup was a little interesting.
- 10:18Speaker 2: So... they had the stage on one end of the arena,
- 10:21Speaker 2: but one side of the stage was Usher. The other
- 10:24Speaker 2: side was Chris Brown. So if you're going to see
- 10:27Speaker 2: Usher and you're on Chris Brown's side, you're probably going
- 10:31Speaker 2: to have a hard time seeing Usher over there. So
- 10:33Speaker 2: in my opinion, it would have been, I'm sure people
- 10:35Speaker 2: have figured out how to hack the seating charter or
- 10:37Speaker 2: whatever to be closer to your favorite artist. But I
- 10:41Speaker 2: found that a little interesting and maybe didn't love that
- 10:46Speaker 2: all the way. But I'm glad I went, even though
- 10:49Speaker 2: I was like, I was exhausted because I went to
- 10:51Speaker 2: the pre-screening for that movie Verity that came out this weekend.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that was literally the next thing on my list. Yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Because Dakota Johnson is on actual SNL tonight.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And I'm promoting that movie.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Oh, is she?
- 11:06Speaker 2: Okay, I didn't realize that she was on SNL tonight.
- 11:09Speaker 2: I know she was in Taylor Swift's music video, Patient Zero,
- 11:11Speaker 2: which was huge. But yeah, I went to go see Verity.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I got to see it earlier this week. And I
- 11:17Speaker 2: read the book and it's Colleen Hoover's third movie adaptation.
- 11:22Speaker 2: And Colleen Hoover, she isn't known for like thrillers or
- 11:26Speaker 2: anything like that. She's more so of like the romance
- 11:29Speaker 2: and the twisted toxic relationships. So Verity is a different
- 11:34Speaker 2: twist from what she's used to.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I read the book about a year ago.
- 11:38Speaker 2: And I read the book feeling one way at the
- 11:42Speaker 2: end because it kind of makes you like morally wonder Like,
- 11:47Speaker 2: which story do you believe?
- 11:49Speaker 3: So you have a.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Letter, and then you have the manuscript. And you'll see
- 11:52Speaker 2: that it's not a spoiler or anything like that. But
- 11:55Speaker 2: you kind of have to decide which side you're going
- 11:59Speaker 2: to take. The side of the letter or the side
- 12:01Speaker 2: of the manuscript.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:02Speaker 2: In the book, I took the side of the manuscript.
- 12:06Speaker 2: But in the movie, I'm feeling like I'm taking the
- 12:10Speaker 2: side of the letter.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Is it... So.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Is it just in the way they portrayed it differently
- 12:18Speaker 1: than you expected, or did they literally change the story?
- 12:20Speaker 2: No, honestly, I thought they did a phenomenal job of
- 12:23Speaker 2: staying true to the main plot points of the book.
- 12:28Speaker 2: There was definitely things that I felt like moved over
- 12:30Speaker 2: a lot faster in the movie, which is, I mean,
- 12:32Speaker 2: to be assumed. There was one plot twist in the
- 12:37Speaker 2: movie that was different from the book, but I felt
- 12:38Speaker 2: like it fit perfectly. It was actually kind of a
- 12:41Speaker 2: jump scare.
- 12:42Speaker 1: It was really good. I think that's the movie my
- 12:44Speaker 1: wife saw last night.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I'll be honest. I wasn't really paying attention when she
- 12:48Speaker 1: said she was going. But I knew it was a
- 12:50Speaker 1: movie based on a book. So now I can go
- 12:52Speaker 1: home and be like, how was Verity? Yes. Verity.
- 12:56Speaker 2: It was actually really cool because what I appreciated from
- 13:01Speaker 2: the movie was is because Verity, that's the name of
- 13:04Speaker 2: the movie, but Verity is Verity Crawford, who is this author, who.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Is played by Anne Hathaway.
- 13:09Speaker 1: That's her character.
- 13:10Speaker 2: And Verity is this huge author. I mean, she's like
- 13:14Speaker 2: basically like Colleen Hoover, right? Going on all these press
- 13:16Speaker 2: things and doing all this stuff. So there's two major
- 13:18Speaker 2: podcasts that, Verity goes on. She goes on Hot Ones,
- 13:24Speaker 2: and then she goes on Call Her Daddy, which I
- 13:26Speaker 2: thought was really, really cool because it made you feel
- 13:29Speaker 2: like Verity was this real-life person in our lives.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I thought it was dope.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:35Speaker 2: So, okay.
- 13:36Speaker 1: So now I'm— Sorry, did I confuse you? No, now
- 13:39Speaker 1: I'm confusing stories from this week because I saw that
- 13:43Speaker 1: Anne Hathaway was supposed to be on Hot Ones. but
- 13:46Speaker 1: she had to cancel because of her pregnancy.
- 13:48Speaker 2: So when that scene came on, literally the whole theater
- 13:51Speaker 2: was like, woo, oh my gosh, because that was kind
- 13:54Speaker 2: of a little bit of an Easter egg.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:57Speaker 2: And Anne Hathaway did literally, she was not allowed to
- 13:59Speaker 2: go on Hot Ones as Anne Hathaway to promote Verity
- 14:02Speaker 2: because they were worried it was going to induce early
- 14:05Speaker 2: labor because of the spice limit. But in the movie Verity,
- 14:09Speaker 2: Verity Crawford goes on Hot Ones.
- 14:10Speaker 3: It's really cool.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Okay. So then Anne Hathaway was never, she was not
- 14:15Speaker 1: on Hot Ones.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Correct.
- 14:16Speaker 1: But she visited the set of Hot Ones.
- 14:19Speaker 3: To play Verity.
- 14:19Speaker 1: It's in the movie. To play Verity in the movie Verity.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:24Speaker 1: But she does not eat the wings in the movie.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Well, she's on Hot Ones in the movie, and she
- 14:32Speaker 3: is eating the wings.
- 14:33Speaker 2: But I doubt that it's actually like the spice level. Okay.
- 14:35Speaker 1: My goodness, I was taken for a ride on that.
- 14:39Speaker 2: I think most people were with me on that. If not,
- 14:43Speaker 2: send your complaints to at Peyton Whitmore.
- 14:49Speaker 1: The other TV thing I wanted to talk about is
- 14:53Speaker 1: the new season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has
- 14:57Speaker 1: been announced. It starts November 12th, and it's... It is
- 15:01Speaker 1: no longer a guilty pleasure show for me. It is
- 15:05Speaker 1: a just strictly pleasure show. I cannot stand any single
- 15:12Speaker 1: one of these women, but I also love them all
- 15:15Speaker 1: like they're my children. And they're moving this year. The
- 15:20Speaker 1: show's moving.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Well, it's going. Wait, Secret Life of Mormon Wives is OC.
- 15:25Speaker 3: It's a whole new cast.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I thought Jen Affleck was in there.
- 15:29Speaker 3: She is.
- 15:29Speaker 2: She's Jen Affleck's in the OC cast, but it's going
- 15:32Speaker 2: to be Avery Woods, who's from Eastmark, Arizona. She's from here,
- 15:36Speaker 2: moved to LA. She's this huge TikTok influencer. You know,
- 15:38Speaker 2: Bobby Althoff, the girl who has those dry podcasts. And
