- 1:53by Fighting. I'm a Kannasura jerks who pick fights in movie theaters and you're
- 1:57the biggest I've ever said. You should see me at funerals, kid.
- 2:01I want you in the Ultimate Robot Fighting League. Ultimate robot fighting sounds pleasant
- 2:07road do it? Good news everyone, I'm back baby, Welcome to Tales
- 2:28of Futuramaware. This week we are going to view a viewing an episode that
- 2:30really hit home for me as a wrestling fan of I've always absolutely adored this
- 2:35episode of Futurama. It is a raging bender. I am Dando and I
- 2:38am guy not as much of a wrestling connoisseur as my man Dando, but
- 2:43still had a bit of a blast with this episode because, oh look,
- 2:47anytime the robots a big in the hell out of one another, it's generally
- 2:51gonna be a good time. Robot Wars was one of my favorite shows as
- 2:53a kid. Had It was hosted by the guy who used to be on
- 2:57Red Dwarf, and it was a Craig. Charles Craig. That's the one.
- 3:00Yeah, Yeah, what a show fucking robot was. It was just
- 3:02it was so fun. It was so ridiculous. You think that, I
- 3:05mean, they're still doing it. I think it's just called like bot Wars
- 3:07now or something that thing on Netflix or something the other day. But it's
- 3:09so absurd, but alway, still love. The most was just the absolute
- 3:14disdain from the kids once they've had their robots destroyed, like either they were
- 3:16like so sad or just really angry. I'm always curious about the kind of
- 3:23kid who would create a fighting robot. I had a friend who used to
- 3:27do robot wars here in Jeelan. They said, there's like a little tournament
- 3:30that used to do and I'm thinking his name was Robert. Robert Stott was
- 3:34his name. I said, Robert, how long in between fights? He
- 3:37goes, oh, no, a couple of months. I'm like, imagine
- 3:39spending months building this robot and it's just destroyed in a minute. Jesus.
- 3:46But coming up with coming up with the cool ways to destroy things, like
- 3:49the really creative robots used to like flip them over and and like stabbing while
- 3:52was like coming down from the mid air and stuff, And it's like,
- 3:53how do you create this ship? You know, you're either in awa of
- 3:58that kind of intellect or terrified of that kind of psychology. What are they
- 4:01going to be coming when they're older? Yeah, exactly. But this episode
- 4:04here, as I said as a wrestling fan, there's a fantastic parody of
- 4:08professional wrestling. I know they were going for the UFC with the title the
- 4:11Ultimate Robot Fighting Championship. But this is this is professional wrestling. But even
- 4:15the little things. I love the little things, like one of the fans
- 4:18had a bend of three sixteen shirt on a reference to Steven even robot Mania
- 4:24had the wrestle Mania font. Just little things like that where they really paid
- 4:29attention. Because usually when professional wrestling gets brought up or mocked or parodied in
- 4:32various things, it's the butt of a joke, and it is the butt
- 4:34of the joke in this episode. But they do it in a loving way,
- 4:36and that's what we do. That's what you notice a lot of future
- 4:39when they parodying something, They're mocking it, but doing it from a point
- 4:43of love. I think the best satire is usually done by usually send us
- 4:47from a real appreciation of what you're taking the piss out of. Absolutely only
- 4:51when you really adore or appreciate something can you notice all its little flaws and
- 5:00actions that you can exaggerate for comic effect, which they year, which they've
- 5:02done here with Raging Bender. What did you think of the leader storyline in
- 5:06this one? I thought this had to feel there had to be some sort
- 5:09of like movie parody or something because it just felt like, I know,
- 5:12it's just traditional, you know, old sense a teacher he just bullied you
- 5:15as a kid, a teacher at school who has always means you as a
- 5:17kid, and you've you've come back for revenge when you're older. But it's
- 5:20like karate kid obviously because he loved his teacher. But is there some sort
- 5:24of movie story there somewhere? I think it's just a riff on the you
- 5:29know a bit of an ancient story telling tradition about you know, you've got
- 5:31the the sense or the teacher who you know, sort of leads you on
- 5:35the right direction. And this guy's just a jerk. The best kind of
- 5:40joke though. How funny was he? There was some most of my favorite
- 5:44parts were, you know, yeah, related to this sense. Let's see
- 5:47who voiced mister Funo. That was his name, wasn't it, mister f
- 5:51Mister Funo. He was voiced by David Herman. Okay, cool, So
- 5:58you know from a King of the Hill, everything's connected, So that unifying
- 6:01a theory of four finger discount. Ah, so he's meant to it says,
- 6:04he is meant to be an evil, misogynistic version of the sense in
- 6:08the Karate Kid, mister Miyagi and he and he resembles Master Yet from Star
- 6:13warsn't like does he That's a stretch. I guess his clothes kind of do
- 6:18whatever, but a stretch. No, I'm not seeing it one when you
- 6:23say it, I'm not seeing it. No, No, he looks more
- 6:25like kids. But yeah, he does look like mister mister Jaghi. Don't
- 6:30you reckon a little bit? Only slightly in the beard? Okay they put
- 6:35it that way short, Okay, I'll roll with that. But yeah,
- 6:39do you know the Karate Kids. I've seen the first film, but as
- 6:43when I was a kid, I cannot really recall much about it. And
- 6:45everyone tells me how great the TV show is. I've heard that as well
- 6:47about Cobra Kay. Yeah, yeah, just never really got into it.
- 6:50I mean, I like the first Karate Kid. Fine, I think I'm
- 6:54pretty sure I saw the second one done. I am about the third,
- 6:58But I mean, I think they're bringing back Ary just m pretty much all
- 7:00of them. I didn't say. I didn't see the one that had a
- 7:02Hillary swank. The next Karate Kid it had mister me argue that it didn't
- 7:06have Ralph Marcio Okay, did he wear white in the Karate Kid and the
- 7:11black guys were the bad guys, right they were? Yeah, Gabri Kai
- 7:14were dressed all in black and Daniel Son had had his white pj'son, so
- 7:18he should have been in Copra Kine and movie in the second movie called Karate
- 7:21Kid Back in Black. You're wasted in Gelong Whywood? But anyway, enough
- 7:31about the Karate Kid. But yeah, I am. I really enjoyed him
- 7:34as a character. There's an absolute dipshit And what I loved about it was
- 7:38he was a pro wrestling heel, Like he was so ridiculous, Like it
- 7:42was the perfect bad guy for this episode. And you really wanted Leila to
- 7:46just get him in the end. Didn't, Yeah, because it usually you're
- 7:47just like, ah, Leila winging and planning again. But then you see
- 7:49what he did and you're like, this motherfucking his head kicked in. This
- 7:53guy's a total joke and he yeah, he needs to be kicked. You
- 7:56have one hundred percent right. Look, as I said, I'm not the
- 8:00the biggest wrestling fan, but I do kind of dig that whole soap opera
- 8:05aspect to it, with baby faces and heels, and heel turns and all
- 8:09that kind of stuff. I mean, the storylines that are constructed and played
- 8:13out. I know, so much work goes into them and so much conviction
- 8:18goes into them. Based on what I've seen, it's it's what's what's upon
- 8:20a time? That's pretty ridiculous. Now there's it, Okay, Yeah,
- 8:24I mean it's that WWE's being run by a seventy eight year old man or
- 8:30whatever, So it's how creative can that man be these days? Well,
- 8:33that's true. I mean, hopefully you sort of pass off some of the
- 8:37some of the gruntwork to people who are perhaps a little more on the ball.
- 8:39But I don't know, maybe if you achieve that level of how you
- 8:43think, Well, I didn't get here by accident, so what I say
- 8:45goes yeah exactly. But that we also had the brain Slug returning this episode
- 8:48first appeared. I think it was heading the polls, and we both said
- 8:52in that episode that man, that brain slug does ain't much. And again
- 8:56they've setting the commentary that they wanted this to actually be a season long arm
- 9:00with Hermi's having the brain sleg on and think fuck. They opted not to
- 9:03do that because there's just nothing to it is there. It's just it's like
- 9:05a it's a gag. You could have like a scene, but it's not.
- 9:07It's not even an episode long gag. It's annoying. Oh look,
- 9:11I was pretty happy with that they played it out throughout this episode. It
- 9:15was it was used well in this episode. But my guy, this was
- 9:16a season. Imagine if Hermis was like this for the whole season, No,
- 9:20it would wear very very thin. But having it as kind of like
- 9:24a B plot or even a B minus plot in this particular episode, I'm
- 9:28like, oh, yeah, there's a few good gags out of this.
- 9:31Absolutely. The thing it doesn't there's always looking at the reason it doesn't work
- 9:35for me though, is that they know that all you have to do is
- 9:37just kick it off its head, and Hermi's is fine. So why are
- 9:39they trying to help their friend. That's sort of the one way looking at
- 9:43it. Also, there's the fear of all the kick it off his head
- 9:45and might end up on my head. Now. The only thing I had
- 9:50to this episode as well was so Bender does his first fight, gets backstation
- 9:52and learns that it's all reaked, it's all set up right. It didn't
- 9:56include bender know that before he went out. When you think you'd want to
- 10:01tell any performers or one of them would realize that because surely he does to
- 10:05know who's gonna win, right, you'd think. So it makes sense from
- 10:09a story perspective, because you get the big reveal after the fight. You
- 10:11know, you think it's real, but it's not. From a story perspective,
- 10:15it makes sense, But when you think about it logically, it's like,
- 10:18wait, wait, so they sent him out to the ring not knowing
- 10:20he was going to win the match. At the whole point of this is
- 10:22that it's reaked and both wrestlers know who's going to win. I think sometimes
- 10:26you've just got to sacrifice logic and credibility for the sake of you know,
- 10:30coming back from the commercial brain with a good hook. Well, I've got
- 10:33here. This is what professional wrestling is based on, suspending your disbelief,
- 10:37so you're just gonna do it. But this episode was written by Lou Morton,
- 10:41who actually used to write for Saturday Night Live, You writ from news
- 10:45Radio, and he's also the He also executive produced walk Hard, one of
- 10:50your films that you always bring up on this podcast. Nice work, glue,
- 10:54Yeah, legend. Now he's written twelve episodes of Futurama between him and
- 10:58Kenkila, that is the record. So ken Killer and he have both written
- 11:01twelve episodes of the show. I'm not sure if he's gonna be writing for
- 11:03the new upcoming episodes that are coming out soon, which I can't wait for.
- 11:07But he also went to the same primary school as David X Cohen,
- 11:09one of the show runners of Our Future Rama and Simpson's. And it's it's
- 11:13who you know, isn't it? It is who you know, David,
- 11:16who you went to primary school with? And who you pee japants next to
- 11:20David X Cohen. He is the man who brought us Homer three D the
- 11:22three D seguent correct, yeah, yeah, And it was directed by Ron
- 11:26Hugot, who was known for animating them said on the on the audio commentary,
- 11:30he's no animating the best violent scenes or whatever there's violence, he's your
- 11:33man. So this is obviously the best episode for him to have worked on.
- 11:37And he now works as a co supervising director on American Dad. Good
- 11:41that he landed on his feet. Who is my favorite robot? It's me
- 11:48none out this mirror or what were your favorite moments from the episodes, mister
- 11:52Davis well as mentioned, Yeah, big big fan of Master Phono, who
- 11:56was just a dick in every way shape or vaughn. Um, I'm skipping
- 12:01right to the end here, but that see you when girl. Hell well,
- 12:03I'll be in Boyle, which is nicer. Everything he said was funny.
- 12:09Everything he said was pretty damn funny. Um. I was a huge
- 12:13fan of it. Was just it was only three characters, but sort of
- 12:18the big bads that Bender was up against. That that's my that's my favorite,
- 12:22most the over the top heels. Billionaire Bot's billionaire Bot and he just
- 12:26gets a barrel shoved room and here he's like very poor. Yeah. Probably
- 12:31my favorite was the Foreigner. I'm not from here. Yeah, my customs
- 12:35are different to your check out my passport. Very very funny. I got
- 12:41a genuine, good long laugh out of that. That's the most iconic wrestling
- 12:45heel. The Foreigner, the iron chic all over here. Yeah, and
- 12:50of course the chain smoke like a soon as I'm done here, I'm coming
- 12:54to your favorite restaurant. Yeah, what a legend. Um And of course,
- 13:00um blanket you'll miss it, but look as a as a fan of
- 13:05crot Robot and Tom Servo and Joel and Mike and the rest of the guys
- 13:09on the satellite Love Got a Mystery Science Theater three thousand shout out when they're
- 13:13first of the movies telling them to stop talking during a movie. Tell them
- 13:16to stop talking during the movie when it's a great gag. Yeah, So
- 13:20I loved it, loved it. That's one of those gags where when I
- 13:22first watched Future Rum it lost on me. When I was older and watched
- 13:24this one, I was like, Oh, man, that's great, that's
- 13:28like, that's like, can you think of a better way to use a
- 13:31mystery science theater? Like Joe, there is no They did it. Yea,
- 13:35they did it perfectly. I really did So the wrestlers here, we've
- 13:39got it on them on the you face sphere. I need this anyway.
- 13:41But so the Gorgeous Gonks, Oh, that's one of my fucking questions.
- 13:45Anyway, Gorgeous Gonks was just a um a poster on the wall in the
- 13:48Commissioner's office that's a take off of Gorgeous George. The clear Cutter is a
- 13:52parody of a famous wrestler, Hacks or Jim Duggan just like, yeah,
- 13:56yeah, not you. He'll billy you your lumber your lumber man you used
- 13:58to carry and the two the two by fours, that was his weapon of
- 14:03choice. The foreigner was the iron cheek like you're mentioning. The chain smoker
- 14:07was a guy called the Sandman. You want to know the sand Man.
- 14:09He was in a company called ec W. Appeared in WWE briefly, but
- 14:13he was He used to smoke on his way to the ring. Billionaire Bot
- 14:16of course his million dollar man. Ted Dibiassi one of the most iconic wrestlers
- 14:20of all time. Sergeant Feces, Processor, Sergeant Slaughter and yeah, obviously
- 14:26Destructor but who's not really a take on anybody, but you know, using
- 14:28him is a war crime. But yeah, I'll just got here. My
- 14:31favorite moments where the over the top He'll plus the mister Fnogue when he was
- 14:35first having got Leila like with the fight, won't take me on again.
- 14:39You lose once or more, I didn't think, so it is me you
- 14:46lose again. Terrible terrible human being, not even human being, terrible alien.
- 14:54Oh I want to ask it a question. All right, it's time
- 14:56for truvia before we do that we're going to be carrying on the new box
- 15:01office segment here, what we're gonna give it a name? They trying to
- 15:03give a name for this segment, mister Davis, So you're trying to guess
- 15:07what was number one at the US box office when this episode first aired?
- 15:13Box office? Brain bust you? Yeah, all right, that'll do for
- 15:15now. That's what we're gonna call it this week. But let us know,
- 15:18page give us some suggestions. Dando's holding his day, you stinker.
- 15:22That is a stinky, stinky name. But yeah, so, mister Davis,
- 15:26February twenty seventh, two thousand, what was number one at the US
- 15:30box office for this week? Oh my gosh, the year two week?
- 15:33The week the week of February twenty fifth to March second, of the year
- 15:37two thousand. I'll give you a clue. Stars Your Man, Stars your
- 15:41man that you love so dearly, who unfortunately was diagnosed with dementia. Okay,
- 15:48two thousand. What was he doing in the year two thousand? I
- 15:50want to say sixth cents? This movie would go on to have a sequel.
- 15:56It's almost an identical title, the sequel, damn it. Okay,
- 16:02could these clues be anymore obvious. Oh, it was a whole nine yards,
- 16:07a whole nine yards correct, Oh dear, a sequel of that is
- 16:11just oh god, The Whole ten Yards is just one of the worst movies
- 16:15ever made, really so terrible. Okay, but is that because you had
- 16:18high hosts for it or is it just a bad movie? It's just a
- 16:21bad movie. Okay, we should we should review movies that you just just
- 16:26have a disdain for. Why would you do that to me? What do
- 16:32you think it was number two? One of the Whole ten Yards would certainly
- 16:36number two, if you know what I mean. No, you gotta get
- 16:40me clues down. It's too long. It's been too long. Okay.
- 16:42Christmas is the clue, but not in the way you would have think.
- 16:48Someone you associated with Christmas is in the title. But it's not a Christmas
- 16:52movie. Okay, Red read Santa? Who's who are? So we've got
- 17:00something red that you associate with Christmas time? Oh? For goodness, say
- 17:03no, you're just gonna tell me. And Reindeer games, Oh we'll route
- 17:07off the Red Nose Reindeer and Reindeer Games starring Ben Affleck and Charlie there On.
- 17:11Of course, yes, they were top two when this episode originally aired
- 17:15on February twenty seventh, in the year two thousand. Now before we get
- 17:18into our questions, Davis, of course we're gonna be out the names of
- 17:21our patients because we love them so much. Now the reason we bring you
- 17:22this show each and every second week, so each and every whenever. Yes,
- 17:27so obviously our man Alia Jernil from The Simpsons Index Podcast, Absolute Champion,
- 17:33make sure you hit that subscribe button for them. And Andrew Zer for
- 17:34his fifty dollars support. Also our man heat Applebe for his thirty three fifty
- 17:38support. I love that thirty three fifty so exact awesome, it was very
- 17:42specific. Our man Jordan Mollman, Richie Christopher Darby, Jonathan Rossi, Zac
- 17:47Probett, Timothy Belson, George Mcmanami, Stephen Roberts, Shawn Dave, Pete
- 17:49Anderson, Andrew Davis, Ryan Dunlap, Jared Howard, Kevin Danzel, plan

- 17:56Reese Roberts, Ballo winder Bank, Mark Boston Burgess, Jack McFadden, Preston,
- 18:00Murray, Agrit McCloud and Lewis Kavanaugh. Now, you people may think
- 18:03that I just record those names and play the same clip every time, but
- 18:04I don't. I read them out each and every time when we do this
- 18:07show. I know you don't trust Dando, but you can trust me.
- 18:11I'm looking at Dan though, and he's reading them out every single time,
- 18:15and he's got a big, big smile in his face every time he does,
- 18:18because you know why, he loves each and every one of you.
- 18:19I've also got our newest members of the family here. We got Ryan Simmons,
- 18:23Ashley Anderson, Grant, Jay Man, Really Haley Parker Karante and Adam
- 18:27Sullen's, Peter Biscop, Jack Worcester, Ferdinando Bianchini, Kelly Clifford, Daniel
- 18:33and mart Reese Wilson, Monica Sonsen, and Scott Girard. I hope you
- 18:37guys are enjoying everything you get here by being a member of the Fourth Finger
- 18:41Discount family. All Right, mister Davis him quite as big a smile on
- 18:44his face at that time. He's still learning to love you, guy.
- 18:48It won't be long. It won't be long, trust me. All right,
- 18:49what's your first question for me, mister Davis. My first question to
- 18:52you is when they go to the multiplex cinema, m shaft is where as
- 19:00in which cinema? No, No, the's on the on the Marquee shaft
- 19:07in where shaft in where I'm going to say Africa nine, and you would
- 19:15be correct. I just looked it up in the notes. The other the
- 19:19other movies that appear. He came from Planet Earth, which was from the
- 19:22episode Fear of a pot Planet when Fry was pretending to be a robot.
- 19:26Remember he's like, God help me or whatever. Remember he yells out like
- 19:30he's scared in the in the in the cinema that was it came from Planet
- 19:33Earth. Also when a Man Loves a Smizma. Now Smizma is the love
- 19:37partner of Kiff's Race of Alien. Yes, and I mentioned Smiths Mars later
- 19:41on when the announcer says ladies and Gentlemen's and smiz Mars. They absolutely we
- 19:45get quiz blog, quiz blog, and alien movie. We get Galaxy Wars,
- 19:49a historical documentary that one which I actually point out Planet of the Clams,
- 19:55which book says, and all my circuits the movie. So yeah,
- 19:59what's my first question for you is where was hermis on holiday too? Oh
- 20:04man, Oh no, no, tell me the spleef Nebula. Spleef Nebula.
- 20:11That's right and very appropriate it would appear. Um. What is the
- 20:15name of miss Universe? Ah Man, I should know this, um because
- 20:21we had just had an episode with the two Benders. Um. She's mentioned
- 20:26in the opening credits of the film. Now what is it? Her name
- 20:29is Gladys Lennox Gladdus. That's right. I do have in my notes and
- 20:32I just could not be bothered looking for it. What does Bender order at
- 20:34the movies? Oh? Gets a popcorn with extra motor oil and just a
- 20:41large soad large diet malt liquor? Did liquor your next question? My next
- 20:47question is you mentioned Robomania before? What number Robomania? Is it as twenty
- 20:52seven? Yeah? Correct? And my final question is how much does Bender
- 20:56away? According to the ring announcer, Oh oh, I know how much
- 21:00destructor? Because I was going to ask you that question, but Bender,
- 21:03I didn't put it down four hundred pounds, it's five hundred and twenty five
- 21:10is destructor? Destructor? Is that eighty ton? He was four hundred four
- 21:14hundred tons Jesus Christ got any more questions for me before we get into our
- 21:18review? What were the names of the students knocked out by Leila? I've
- 21:26got it my notes. Should I look now? Look? I can't bother
- 21:27looking? What is it? Bruce is one of them? Bruce? No?
- 21:30No, Bill is one of them? Keith is the other one?
- 21:33Keith. Yes, you combine those two when you come up with brief is
- 21:38not like Bruce? If you want to, I see where your mind's at.

- 22:29The original edit for this episode was February twenty seventh, in the year two
- 22:32thousand. Production Code to a CVS You Were eight, written by Lewis Morton,
- 22:36directed by Ron Hugart. It guest starred Rich Little as himself playing who
- 22:41he played? Howard go sell he did? And who I mean? Obviously
- 22:45Rich Little known for impersonality people and Kruss Leatherman playing mister movie Phone. Now,
- 22:51wherever you hear movie phone, do you just imagine Cramer going Hello,
- 22:52welcome to a movie phone. That's the only thing I remember that is like
- 22:59what I've scifer. That's one of the things that just always stands out to
- 23:02me. Hello, and welcome to the movie phone. That's one of those
- 23:04stupidest fucking storylines. But it's just so memorable. I just love it.
- 23:07It's so simple, So because we'd all love to have done that, don't
- 23:11you reckon? But just that whole why would you just tell me? Yeah,
- 23:15so funny, isn't it. Why did you just tell me which movie
- 23:18you like? It's a it's a perfect I know it's not a Si Faur
- 23:23podcast. You can check out Talking Cifer, but that's just the perfect representation
- 23:27of when a planners goes wrong with poor planning. So the opening caption for
- 23:33the episode was nominated for three Glemmys and the opening cartoon was Hollywood Capers,
- 23:37which was released in nineteen thirty five. The episode kicks off with the Professor
- 23:44and he's saying how he's taught the toaster to feel love. Do you have
- 23:48you ever once in your life, obviously, when you're a child, thought
- 23:52like, for example, a Toy Story member when Toy Story first came out,
- 23:53and thought, they do these things have feelings? Does any does any
- 23:59object in this world? I would have a feeling? Have you ever thought
- 24:00there's an object out there where you gone a little teddy when you were a
- 24:03kid and gone, I know it's just a teddy, but just in case,
- 24:07I'm going to make sure that he sits under bed, not on the
- 24:08floor. Oh yeah, absolutely, when I was a kid, certainly,
- 24:11I mean and even to this day, you know, I think about them,
- 24:15my you know, little toy dog Sam, who was my you know,
- 24:19constant sleeping companion when I was a little, a little tacker. You
- 24:23know, I've no idea where Sam is now. He's probably you know,
- 24:26been eaten to bits by his silver fishing and moths and whatever. He was.
- 24:32He was a wreck when I first had him, but you know,
- 24:34he traveled the world with me and you know, saw me through some tough
- 24:37times as a youngster. And I don't know when, you know, I
- 24:41got older and he was you know, he just went his own way or
- 24:45whatever happened. I've no idea what happened to doing. Oh he's okay.
- 24:49Was his name again? Sam? Just the Sam? Yeah, the Sounder
- 24:53Dog. Yeah. You know, it's a sweet little pal to have,
- 24:59even though he was, you know, just a fabric and stuffing, but
- 25:02you know you would mbue it with love, and you know that love's got
- 25:06to go somewhere. Do you have a photo with Sam the Dog? I
- 25:08probably do. There may be one around somewhere. But you know, he
- 25:11was a mess when I got him. I don't know if he'd been through
- 25:15members of my family before he ended up with me. I mean, my
- 25:18sister Margot still has one of her teddy bears, yeah, that she had
- 25:22when she was a kid, and she's you know, got him on a
- 25:23shelf at her lovely house down the coast. And I always gonna smile when
- 25:29I say they it's like, oh yeah, I remember that from when we
- 25:30were growing up. It's just like a little not of appreciation for it.
- 25:33You got me through tough times. I know you're just a fucking object.
- 25:36You know, you're just fabric, but you hult me through some shit.
- 25:37You deserve to be on that shelf. Yeah, exactly. You aren't going
- 25:41to the mid sir. Yeah, but it's funny. You know, every
- 25:45once in a while you'll do the whole Marie Condo thing, which even Marie
- 25:49Condo doesn't do anymore, where you know, you get rid of stuff that
- 25:52doesn't quite spark joy. But before you do handy, before you you know,
- 25:56you throw it in the in the bin or in the bag or whatever.
- 26:00Thanks a lot, man. You were a good shirt, you know.
- 26:03Yeah, yeah, when when you fit when I you fit into you
- 26:06pretty well, I look pretty good inside you. Well hang on, yes,
- 26:10you were good on me all that kind of stuff. Thank you for
- 26:12that. I appreciate it. Now, off your go, you know,
- 26:15go have a start a new life of someone that's going to appreciate you,
- 26:18thank you for your service. That's it. Homies returns from his vacation with
- 26:22the brain slug on. Everyone just starts act normal, you know, don't
- 26:26don't, don't, don't acknowledge it, and start using garlic shampoo so it
- 26:27doesn't go any So garlic apparently is what they don't like. I love my
- 26:32man. They they ditch him and go to the movies. So they arrive
- 26:36at the lows and plex. Right now, this is a mathematic thing,
- 26:40I'm assuming. Yeah, he gets explained a very long winded way on the
- 26:45infosphere. Now the movie did. His name is lows alpha alp nubll plex,
- 26:51including the alpha alf null mathematic symbol. It's all lost on me.
- 26:57For all you maths nerds out there, I'm all, you're just going ha
- 27:00ha. Apparently it all translates to apparently lows infiniplex, like it's it's like
- 27:07in the name for infinity or something. I was thinking that it had to
- 27:10be you know, some monstrously like Google style number. Cool, let's see
- 27:15this one. Nah, I'm not in the mood for a historical documentary.
- 27:19I've heard good things about quiz blog. Quiz blog. Ghak I hate subtitles.
- 27:25Alien films are so pretentious, follows Shallows. How about a film we
- 27:29can all enjoy. Planet of the Clams. It's about an upside down world
- 27:33where lobsters slaves to clam Who invited you? Let's just see all my circuits
- 27:38the movie good point band so fright orders a super small slum because it's only
- 27:45a little bit cheaper. I love the way that the cinema. I want
- 27:48to hate it, but it's a great marketing, great business sense. You
- 27:52get the movies right. And you're not one for popcorn of the movies,
- 27:55I know that, but you know we always get popcorn, A small popcorn
- 27:57eight dollars or a large for ten. Why would you ever order a small?
- 28:00You might as well go large every time, An't you in the option?
- 28:03They don't give you the option to buy a small, but a small
- 28:06as five dollars, you'd buy the fucking small. But it's like, well
- 28:07I was in extra two dollars miles, We'll go to large. They fucking
- 28:11clear that popcorn out so fast. Yeah, it's genius. It's genius the
- 28:15way they do it. And making an extra two bucks on top. Yeah,
- 28:18they're doing all right. They know what time it is. There is
- 28:21a hack for the for the combos at Village Cinema. I won't get into
- 28:25it now. If you ever want to note, just contact me on Facebook
- 28:26and I'll tell you. But it's a way of saving like eight dollars by
- 28:29getting the same shit. It's like a couple's combo, and then like you
- 28:33can it's like there's a certain combo where you can add shit too for like
- 28:36two dollars extra, and it works out to be like eight dollars cheaper than
- 28:40like the couple's combo. So like you better for get like this like one
- 28:44popcorn and one drink combo and then add like a drink and an ice cream
- 28:47whatever it is, because it works out to be cheaper than what a couple's
- 28:48combo is. But you get the same shit. Did you work this out
- 28:52yourself? You know you're going were you doing that? Zach galifanarkas thing?
- 28:56Where all there standing at this? But I'm just like you walk in there
- 29:02as a couple when you see the couple's combo, it's like, oh,
- 29:03the couple's combo, we get the sounds love baby, and then meanwhile they're
- 29:11just getting extra eight bucks out of here for doing absolutely nothing, which on
- 29:12this thing I love. I appreciate it, every bit of it. That's
- 29:15the person. Someone's getting fucked when you do the couple's combo and it's not
- 29:18the couple, Oh it is the couple. So but Fry, he gets
- 29:23the super small, super small slum bender, orders his food. It's time
- 29:26for the movie and down in front and this gleg Na's human Ryans presents this
- 29:33week and you never I wish they still did this shit at the movies.
- 29:37Well the news real, Yeah, I love him. They're talking about like
- 29:40a boy and his dog, like way to go scruffee. But yeah,
- 29:45Fry mocksham Mystery Science, here to do his timeue that to be quiet.
- 29:48I've got the here. Guy would have adored this moment. Guy did adore
- 29:52that moment. We've got the new New York Mayor, Maycy Randall Poop and
- 29:56Meyer. He's opened up a new tube blind to alleviate the rush hour,
- 29:59but actually everyone's using that twoe blind now and cause chaos. We get the
- 30:04Miss Universe Gladys Lenox from the Paramesium homeworld. So we didn't get a name
- 30:07in um in a Lesser of two Evils, but we've got her name here,
- 30:11and she's entertaining the troops as they attempt to wipe out the human race.
- 30:15Go get him Buys, that's the one I'm thinking of. Yeah,
- 30:17go get him Buyas and the mass unit has destroyed. Oh, we do
- 30:22get gorgeous gonks. This is where we get gorgeous gonks in this LaPier.
- 30:26And he tried to melt him. He don't have the name for the melting
- 30:27accountant what it was, but that's the same move that he attempts to use
- 30:30on Bender in a few moments, we're melting him with the lasers. But
- 30:33initially he of course, Bender is the pro wrestling fan in this in this
- 30:37show, um just yeah, but yeah it Bender says he go mass units.
- 30:41Clearly he's a fan. Then we get the two robots arriving in front.
- 30:45One seems like a mild mand a young gentleman, and he's got his
- 30:48partner, who Bender reflows to his flabby even though that's just as the factory
- 30:51made her. Benders just being a horrible person here, Isn't he prettyish even
- 30:53my Bender standards? Absolutely? Yeah, I mean, but still it's never
- 30:57it's never great when you're at the cinema and you've got someone just big in
- 31:00front of you, or at any event, really, you know, the
- 31:04lovely the reason I went to went to Day on the Green a couple of
- 31:07a couple of weeks ago. I guess he's Sting, who was very very
- 31:11good. Indeed, did he come down from the rafters. So that's a
- 31:14check the on your wrestling fans, I'll understand, god appropriate for this episode.
- 31:18I well played, yes, but I was very conscious of, like,
- 31:22you know, we got there, you know, other people are already
- 31:25there was like, oh, you know, if I sit in front of
- 31:26this person, that probably made themselves very comfortable. Here, I am just
- 31:30sort of taking up space. Yeah, there's nothing worse than that. But
- 31:33no, Luckily the people behind me went down in front, so it was
- 31:37all right. We all got to enjoy Sting. Don't you love how often
- 31:40that us as a society used to term there's nothing worse than that one.
- 31:42There's definitely something worse than that. Oh, certainly, It's like when I
- 31:48said, oh God, what a nightmare, It's like, that's barely a
- 31:51bad dream. It's nothing wrong with that. You know. He turned the
- 31:53tap on and the water sprays over nothing worse than that. It's like,
- 31:59I can think of thirty thousand of these words in that right now if you're
- 32:01speaking of people being tall in front. And I remember why I took Alie
- 32:04to see him up at Christmas Carol with a live orchestra back late December last
- 32:07year, before Christmas in Melbourne. We sat down and this be tall dude
- 32:13sat down right in front of Elliott's chair and I was like, fucking now.
- 32:15He's like, daddy, I can't see. You can't see, And
- 32:16of course Ali can't stand up to watch because then you're going to stop the
- 32:19person behind him scene. I said, oh, mate, would you mind
- 32:21stopping with your wife so so um my son can see? And he goes,
- 32:27nah, I really don't want to, mate. I say, like,
- 32:28come, he said, he's only four. Can can you move?
- 32:30And he goes, you brought the four year old, not me? I
- 32:32think that's what he said to me, right to the Muppet Christmas Carol.
- 32:36Yeah, yeah, you brought the four year old, not me. I'm
- 32:38like, mate, you are you're a man, clearly, like you know
- 32:43you're here with your partner. I'm assuming, but just fucking swap seats with
- 32:45him so Ali can see, I give a fuck if I can't see,
- 32:49maybe a million times, but Elliott. I ended up swopping seats of Elliott
- 32:51so he could see because this motherfucker wouldn't move because I brought the four year
- 32:53old, not him for an asshole? Yeah, what an asshole? Jesus?
- 33:00Yeah no, But anyway, it doesn't matter. All. They had
- 33:02a great time, but Ben, it's just being an absolute dick to this
- 33:06artist person. I liked the rated M fourteen not Suitable for Aliens from Planet
- 33:08M fourteen by Aliens Alien from M fourteen. The movie then starts. Now
- 33:14did you see the credits here? I thought you would have liked this gig
- 33:16I did. Yeah, I mean were the various writing units and directing units,
- 33:21and of course Joe as to house one of the biggest hacks in Hollywood.
- 33:24Hacks you reckon hack? Oh god? Yeah? I mean did he
- 33:30even my basic instinct? Yeah? That's that's the script is the worst thing
- 33:34about that. So everyone just remembers it for Sharon Stone. Every remembers that
- 33:37Sharon Stone. It was very well directed by a man, Paul Verhoven,
- 33:40who made Start JEP Droopers and all that. Yeah, but no, Paul
- 33:44Verhovens. Sorry, Joe has an absolute hack master. He sort of.
- 33:50He rewrote the same story for at least three different movies. His dialogue is
- 33:52shit. I mean, you write the three three big ones. You wrote
- 33:55show Girls, he wrote Basic Instin What was the other one? You vote?
- 33:58Well? He wrote Jade, which is kind of like the one.
- 34:00I think he wrote Flashdance back in the day. Was it Flashdance? Let's
- 34:05have a look, Let's see what he's written. He made a lot of
- 34:08money. I mean Basic Instincts sold. The script sold for a shit tone
- 34:12of money. It was flashed Flashdance was the other one? Yea jacket Edge
- 34:15and Flashdance? Yeah, oh yeah. I heard those movies and I was
- 34:17like, well, the big movies, it must be. He must be
- 34:20at least half decent. I think you'd write a good hook, but yeah,
- 34:24most of most of his movies are absolute garbage. So is the gag
- 34:28here being at this movie is going to be ship pretty much. So I
- 34:32like the two in the credits. Here's obviously a take off a double a
- 34:36seven bea get the robot sort of chumping off screen, and one of him
- 34:37goes in which he jumps off. Well, if that finishes this paperwork.
- 34:45Calculan enterprises Calculan. A fight scene is broken out of the special effects warehouse.
- 34:51Come quickly before a fiery explosion chases someone down a hallway. I have
- 34:58no choice, but if you on calcul On to race to the laser gun
- 35:01battle in his hover Ferrari, press one. If you want calcul On to
- 35:05double check his paperwork, press too enter Now you have pressed too. No
- 35:12I didn't. I'm almost positive you did. I cannot wait for the day
- 35:16they've already doing this on Netflix. I look forward to the day we can
- 35:19go to the movies and do this and pick and like it's a because when
- 35:22it's to shoot your own adventure, when it's just you, you can choose
- 35:24you own invention, like you know what you're gonna be choosing. But when
- 35:27you're in a cinema, it's like, oh, man, come on,
- 35:28every come on, everybody, let's let's team up. Let's make sure we
- 35:30get the right heads up, because the thing is, you put your vote
- 35:34in, but you still don't know what you're going to get. What have
- 35:37they done it on on Netflix? And now they did it on a Black
- 35:38Mirror episode where it's like, no, you go this way or now you
- 35:42can do this. I think they've done it on one or two other things,
- 35:45but I can't remember what as a kids show. So basically at thutha
- 35:49Elliott watch it was a bad boss baby thing and there was a dressic park.
- 35:52What's it called. It's a camp cretaceous one, yeah, camp cretaceous,
- 35:57yes, yeah, and they're fine, they're enjoyable. That's Aliot was
- 36:01so sad that when he pushed him on button he got eaten while this dinosaur.
- 36:05He was like, you're so sad. It was like, oh,
- 36:07there's there's a button there though clearly because they know it's for kids that you
- 36:10can go just restart, restart from that moment you have to go back to
- 36:15the start. It's just it's like, and this time, choose the right
- 36:16one. Aliot chooses the same one, you idiot. Um. Yeah,
- 36:22so there's the movie. They rig it basically, you know, he chooses
- 36:27one thing. I mean, how could you not want to go see a
- 36:29lazy gun battle in a hover ferrari? How do you want to see Colclan
- 36:30do that? They messed up bend. They keep kicking the chair in front
- 36:35of him and boredom. I believe you're inadvertently kicking my seat, so polite.
- 36:37The mask Unit isn't he is? Isn't he? But yeah, I
- 36:42guess it's the mask unit you can afford to be Yeah, Bender mocks him.
- 36:45Yes, that is the gist of what I said, and he then
- 36:47throws popcorn at him, So he challenges him to fisty cuffs even like the
- 36:52what he challenges him to is just so like we'll see proper, and he
- 36:57tries the melting move on Bender and obviously realized is a huge robot. And
- 37:01then the woman's yells out, let's all go to the lobby, which,
- 37:07yes, mister Ben, that's actually the line from the from the ad,
- 37:10right, let's all go to the I first heard that on The Simpsons when
- 37:15mister Burns did it. Likewise, I think when he's learning, when he's
- 37:20trying to get the I think it was Burns air that episode when he first
- 37:22did that. But but just noticed the professor didn't move. So when everyone's
- 37:24running away, he just sits there. And then we get the mask unit.
- 37:30He's going to open up a file of whoop ass, I'm Bender as
- 37:32opposed to we can He slips on the oil, so no, all all
- 37:37works out In the end full circle Bender ordered the oil. That's what causes
- 37:39the mask Unit to slip. He passes out legally realizes the mask unit.
- 37:43Everyone's really impressed their girlfriend. What a hussy she's just got. You're just
- 37:51calling your fat slob before. Now you're hugging in all over him. The
- 37:53commissioner of the Ultimate Robot Fighting Championship or whatever it's called company arrives because he's
- 37:59a kind of stew jokes you pick fights theaters and you are the biggest one.
- 38:01You should see me at funerals. I've got here top not to work
- 38:07by Demagio this episode. Have you got any terrible funeral stories aside for going
- 38:13to some as the most in fact that it's a funeral, have you ever
- 38:15been like an awkward moment or anything like that. I told a story for
- 38:20the first time, not longer. I'm not I don't think I'm going to
- 38:21share it here. This is um. I told it under very sort of
- 38:24cone of silent circumstances. But yeah, there was something that happened after my
- 38:30dad's funeral. I don't know, we'll see how we go, but that's
- 38:36what I'm keeping in the back pocket for somewhere down the line. Is it
- 38:38a funny or is it a shocking story? It's not really shocking, it's
- 38:44it's kind of blackly funny. Okay. Yes. I remember once being in
- 38:51a funeral and the woman was it was the wife the person who had passed.
- 38:55As she's doing her talk, her mulogy, and all of a sudden,
- 38:59she just drops a ripper fart and everyone in a like I don't know
- 39:05whether to laugh and cry or just want do we do? And what you
- 39:09can? You sort of hear a couple of like sort of chill and she
- 39:14went, that's a stinker, and everyone just started laughing, you know,
- 39:17so it was like, don't pretend it was fighting over the microphone basically,
- 39:22so everyone heard it. So it's like you mightn't just run with it.
- 39:23It's just a ripper fart. And she went, well, that's a stinker,
- 39:27and everyone laughed. I was just like oh, and everyone was sort
- 39:29of like happier after that. You know, it's good. Sometimes a funeral
- 39:31needs that kind of thing. I mean, you know what people always say.
- 39:35I know it sounds weird to say that, but you know, I
- 39:37was saying, oh, you know, celebrate my life rather than more my
- 39:39death. It's like, well, you know, someone just let one go
- 39:43in the middle of your funeral. You probably like that's good. I mean
- 39:45it's something that you know, my funeral will be remembered. And I think
- 39:50Guy would have liked that if someone let, you know, let one rip
- 39:52during his funeral, Yeah, I would actually good on you. So better
- 39:57agrees to become an ultimate robot fighter and professor. They don't make movies like
- 40:00this anymore. Bender is now super excited. He's going to float like a
- 40:05flat button stinging like an automatic stinging machine. But everyone explains to him,
- 40:07mate, you know what this is. It's pretty brutal. So the gag
- 40:09is that no one knows that it's fake. Yeah, when did wrestling when
- 40:13it was a widely known that it was fake, Because in the eighties people
- 40:15still brought into it. I think it was like during the nineties where everyone
- 40:20just went wait a minute, Like it's like when once the wrestling told you
- 40:22it was fake, then it was just like, okay, it's fair game.
- 40:25But I feel like even when I was growing up, I was still
- 40:29trying to sort of blur that line they weren't openly saying. And because you've
- 40:31heard stories of wrestlers who would beat the ship out of people who would question
- 40:37them on it. Like there's a there's a really um the iconic interview where
- 40:42it's the guy Munch from from Lauren Order, right. They that plays much
- 40:46the Big Years, the Glasses, the late the late Richard Belzer. Yes,
- 40:50he died not long ago. Yeah, exactly a couple of weeks ago.
- 40:52Yeah, he had a talk show, I believe once and he had
- 40:54Hulk Hogan and he was just like sort of, you know, not saying
- 40:58it's fake, but sort of like laughing, Oh yeah, you know,
- 41:00you guys really go in there and all of the stuff, and he goes,
- 41:01show me a headlock. So Hulk Hogan just gave him a head like
- 41:05a headlock a sleeper and just put into sleep slow stage. Yeah. Yeah,
- 41:07it's like, you can't deserve the mate, you know, we gotta
- 41:13be talking smack about someone's word, you know, to their face. Man,
- 41:15Hulk Hogan, exactly, he's gonna running wild on you, mate,
- 41:21and he certainly did. And Hulkogan got a lot of trouble for that for
- 41:22obvious reasons. But um, yeah, that's just the iconic moment in television
- 41:25history. That one not long ago. One of my social media budd he's
- 41:32found a picture of Hulk Hogan from some action movie made in you know,
- 41:36the late eighties or the early nners and whatever. And he's got like a
- 41:39hairpiece. Song. You know, he doesn't have his usual sort of weird
- 41:44Hulk Hogan hair like. Yeah, well that's you know, it's like a
- 41:47flattop kind of wig, like you should have worn that all the time.
- 41:52Yeah, yeah, I mean, you know, he's got his big mustache,
- 41:57but he's got you know, that sort of short back insides. We
- 42:00got a link that looks kind of good dude exam for everybody, not for
- 42:04me. But I don't know. I could have given the Hulks for a
- 42:07whole new, whole new direction. But the thing is, though that he
- 42:13just was Hulk Hogan, you know, Terry Balaz his real name. But
- 42:15like, yes, his image was so iconic that you can't really change the
- 42:20Hulk Hogan image. That's true. I think. Ye, the weird ass
- 42:23haircut that he's gotten, the scullet so is Yeah, I guess part of
- 42:30the whole Cogan mystique. Yeah. And plus, you know, I just
- 42:31love the fact that when he turned into a bad guy in WCW in the
- 42:36nineties, he just painted he had a black beard, but still the white
- 42:38hair and the white mustaches. Fucking the grain. It's like Evil Hougan has
- 42:43a black beard, but baby face Hogan's clean shaven. But anyway, so
- 42:50Benner says he doesn't want to do it, he's scares. Says, you
- 42:52must do it, you know, And she tells the story of when she
- 42:53was a child again with the Orphanarian. Let me tell you a story from
- 42:58my childhood again the Orphanarium. When I was growing up at the Orphanarium,
- 43:04I got picked on a lot. My only outlet was our turn kung fu.
- 43:07Yeah, accident, Beau Keith, you will go to junior championships.
- 43:17Bu congratulate Keith when he regains consciousness. But master Fnog, I can beat
- 43:22these dorks with one eye closed. Perhaps, but there is more to winning
- 43:25than beating your opponent. You lack the weird of a warrior. What do
- 43:29you mean watch this? Ye ha ha ha. No girl has the weird
- 43:35of a warrior. You have the weird of a housewife or at base,
- 43:38the school marm. That's it. I'll take you on right now, very
- 43:43well, but you see, I have the weird of the warrior. Therefore
- 43:45the battery is already OVA the winner. Me ha, remotch you lose again,
- 43:51honey enough I thought so Finog which is an absolute dish bag, and
- 43:58he really was, like he actually was the perfect heel for this perfect villain
- 44:01for this episode. She's an absolute classic wrestling manager heel. Oh yeah,
- 44:06I mean can't recognize just the master fighter that's in front of him and instead,
- 44:12you know, giving it up a bill and Keith Will just been kicked
- 44:15the shit kicked out of him. And he says that leither at this point
- 44:17that she has the will of a housewife or at best the school momia,
- 44:22two types of characters that Katie Seagal has both played on various shows. Now
- 44:27I'm not I couldn't find the school mom one right, but I've definitely obviously
- 44:30the housewife is Peggy, yes naturalists. I couldn't find who the school mom
- 44:34character was that she played, but apparently that was a reference to m to
- 44:37characters she had previously played on other shows. One about listens. I'm sure
- 44:40we'll let us know about that one, but please do yes, very very
- 44:44good, better agrees to do so to join the league so he can get
- 44:49back, she can get back at U, mister Fonogg, And it's a
- 44:52montage of him training. How's your training going, by the way, or
- 44:54so it was the four days of running now, yep, gonna be five
- 44:58once we're done with this. Absolutely, Yeah, you're gonna do my run
- 45:00as well, doing some push ups, doing some running. It's a bit
- 45:04of a shuffle around the block. But I'll just keep running that circuit until
- 45:07i can run it a bit faster, and then I'll have another another block
- 45:10to it, and yeah, before you know it, I'll be running marathons.
- 45:15Doesn't matter how fast, it's just you move it. That's all that
- 45:16matter, is correct. Correct? That's now for a time for robot Mania
- 45:21twenty seven. Leather was robbing some rust rusta Liam I think it is.
- 45:24It's glass protected enamel stops the rust onto bender and introduction here the ladies and
- 45:30gentlemen smiz Mars, which I said is a love partner of the amphibios and
- 45:35culture, which is who Kiff is. So Kiff actually goes on to to
- 45:37marry Amy. By the way, we should have mentioned that last week's podcast.
- 45:39We're talking about Amy and Frist relationships, so she obviously falls in love
- 45:43with Kiff. But Bender here from Mums, from Mum's shot wherever it's course
- 45:49America's heartland, Mexico. And I love this as a wrestling fan that Clearcutter
- 45:54was from and made of parts unknown. There's always that one wrestler who's from
- 45:59parts known. It's just like the phrases. So hermis tries to give Fry
- 46:05the brain slug here, and I mean, it's just not going to happen.
- 46:07Then we get Bender Gant hit with the axe in the back and drilled
- 46:10through the face and I'm like, yeah, he's axhole. Yeah. So
- 46:15Bender doesn't know it's fake at this point of what's going on here, but
- 46:17the click Cutter here explodes and he knows. When Bender is putting his arm
- 46:21back on, it's a like a shotgun sound, the sound that they use
- 46:23from The Simpsons. I don't know why they have missed it, but yes,
- 46:27Bender is the winner. He has defeated the click Cutter, even though
- 46:30he doesn't really know how he did it. He's backstage now, he's just
- 46:32he's so happy. Yeah, I took a life nice work out there,
- 46:38kid, you know, I think he might be dead. I took a
- 46:42life boss. Yeah, dude, Hey he's that dad. What's up with
- 46:47that watch? It didn't read the pamphlet Ultimate Robot Fighting is a scam,
- 46:51kid, It's rigged. It's a secret, so I'll keep it under your
- 46:53head. But the most popular robot always wins. You mean I'm not a
- 46:59great fighter. I just won because I'm popular, Bengal, I'm popular.
- 47:04In fact, you're more than popular. You're pure lowest common denominator. Go
- 47:07Bender, Go Bender go. Bender. Still is still an up shot for
- 47:13still the upside for a Bender. You know, he's the lowest common denominator
- 47:15according to the according the Boss, so he's now known as Bender the offender.
- 47:20He's just next con trying to get straight and get his kids back.
- 47:22I'm like, that's so awesome. The guy that the bend of three sixteen
- 47:29shirt in the crowd loving it. He's taking on. Of course, he's
- 47:30taking a billionaire bots, you know, the complete with his handsful of money.
- 47:36Yes, they're just not saying Bender puts the very poor barrel over him.
- 47:45So awesome. Then the foreigner, which is just that was my favorite.
- 47:47I'm not from here. I've got my own customs, look at my
- 47:52crazy passport and then the chainsmoker as you're saying, heading straight to your favorite
- 47:58restaurant. So great. You could have enough fucking montage like twice as long
- 48:01as this. I would have loved every one of them. Oh god,
- 48:04yeah, but just those three were perfect, the foreigner in particular so perfect.
- 48:07Yeah. Leader is now waiting for him. You know you're supposed to
- 48:12be training. This was always used in Fox eight commercials for Futurrauma. You
- 48:15know, I'm also an ultimate robot lover Leader though, so Leader character in
- 48:22this she's basically she's lutching herself onto Bender's career here because she wants to get
- 48:27back at Fornog. But it's Fornog. But she doesn't know FOG's part of
- 48:30the other. She's just she's just working out some of her own issues.
- 48:35Yeah, yeah, what do you mean we? I mean us? So
- 48:38Bender says he doesn't need her because obviously it's fake and he hasn't told her
- 48:40it's fake yet. She can't work out how are you always winning? You
- 48:44know? And he doesn't need anybody, of course, he needs Flusies though.
- 48:46Well. Obviously my favorite line of the episode, We're gonna do with
- 48:52a couple of fluses in our life from time to time. And he walks
- 48:53off from the light up dollar sign on the back of his coat. We're
- 48:57now at the ultimate robot fighting HQ and see the son of the front hiring
- 49:00giant. He'll billy Robot Bender. Your popularity is slipping. Sales of your
- 49:07Bender brand French Mill bathsols are down twenty percent. Those morons, I said,
- 49:13teaberry nut sandal Wood. Damn it. Bender. If you can't move
- 49:15sander Wood, you don't belong in this league. That's why you're gonna lose
- 49:20next week's title match. But the crowd loves me, perhaps, but let's
- 49:23see how they feel about your new persona, the gender Bender. You will
- 49:28be the most unpopular robot fight us in sergeant Feces process of oh yeah,
- 49:34well what if I don't let the new guy win, Dan, he'll just
- 49:37have to beat you the old fashioned way to death. Melessa sending the new
- 49:42kid. I am destructor see it the fight he threatens your sexuality? Yeah,
- 49:55not exactly progressive when it comes to gender issues. This particular episode of
- 50:00your drama bed what can you do? They introduced destructor push the button door
- 50:06opens. He just burst through the wall. Anyway wall see you at the
- 50:09fight, and Bender then tells everybody the story word for word and say way
- 50:14he said it. And he explains to everybody how robot the robot fighting his
- 50:16fake. They couldn't believe it, you know, I thought it was real
- 50:19like pro wrestling, not fixed like boxing boxing. Leather then refuses to help.
- 50:24You know, well, if you didn't want my help when you didn't
- 50:27need it, then why would I give it to you when you do What
- 50:29the hell are you talking about? I don't know, but I'm still not
- 50:31going to help. Like she's so confused, she's just so caught up in
- 50:34her own issues, like you were saying. And then she turns on the
- 50:37TV and she sees the ad for gender Bender, like he's saying, he
- 50:40threatens your sexuality. I love it. Leaning laying on the bed with his
- 50:44legs crossed on the on the telephone and master for noogue. I've got here's
- 50:50the manager. But he's not really the manager. He's just I guess you
- 50:52could say, like the trainer. I guess he's going to be called there
- 50:53like the corner and or, but he's not. He's not even that though,
- 50:55because he never he's never seen him, he's underneath the ring. Yes,
- 50:59yeah, them, Yeah, it feels more like trainer than than manager
- 51:02though it does. But the thing is when you look at this logically,
- 51:07which is stupid, I know, but it's like, so, who was
- 51:12operating Destructor when he was there with mister Fogg on the TV and stuff like
- 51:15that? Who was operating Destructor when he burst through the wall? Bloody logic,
- 51:22ruining our enjoyment of these episodes. It doesn't matter. But Leither says
- 51:25she's gonna teach better to fight like a girl. So he says, I
- 51:28go put on my two too. It's now time for the championship bout where
- 51:31there will be no gambling. The destructor he's use in battle as a war
- 51:35crime, and Benderson his two too. Did you notice there was an animation
- 51:38error here? Fries got the towel around his neck, but it's black,
- 51:42not white. You've got the egalize you do old egalized Dando here, But
- 51:46rich Little was here as Howard Cassell and George Foreman. I didn't think George
- 51:50Foreman really added much to this, No, no, I mean very enthusiastic.
- 51:54Absolutely. I mean he threw himself into the into the role with Gusto.
- 51:57But but he didn't didn't play himself though, because he wasn't on the
- 52:00page, was he George George Foreman wasn't in the guest appearances. George Foreman
- 52:05performance was full of gus stars George Foreman. So George Foreman's head unless I
- 52:09just forgot to put him on there. It was voiced by John de Bacio,
- 52:15didn't you. Rod didn't add a great deal. I mean, the
- 52:19only thing he really had was just the disgusting spectacle of drinking the fat from
- 52:22the George Foreman girl. Yeah, having a George Foreman girl. And I'm
- 52:23just like, well, I'm never gonna be fat ever again. I'm gonna
- 52:29eat all the fried chicken I want. And we weren't good at my hips.
- 52:32This is rich little imitating Howard Cowseell hair red ring sided with George Foreman,
- 52:38George A word and edgewise. This could be the most one sided fight
- 52:44since nineteen seventy three, when Ali faced an eighty foot Tom mechanical Joe Frazer.
- 52:49My memories now what it used to be. But I think the entire
- 52:51earth was destroyed. Interesting if true. The Vega SARTs tonight standard an unpresent.
- 52:57I did one thousand to zero a bet of zero dollars on Bender pays
- 53:01one thousand dollar as if he wins, still very field takers. Isn't that
- 53:07not a smart bet? Later then says, you know, don't worry,
- 53:10just kick his head off, kick off the structor's head, and Better says,
- 53:14all right, nope, I'm gonna do that, And whilst he's practicing
- 53:15his kicking, he kicks off the brain slug from her Meason and puts it
- 53:17back on his head. Amy's. Meanwhile, he gives Professor the program.
- 53:22I feel a Professor as a character. They haven't forgotten him, but he
- 53:27hasn't really have been given much to do lately. He's more for the odd
- 53:30punchline to do with how decrepit he is. Yeah, because when you think,
- 53:35what he's not really driving stories or anything like that. Let's go to
- 53:37season two. So I think the last one he did was like Mars University?
- 53:42Was that season one? Was that season two? So he wasn't that
- 53:44feels like season one? So if we go back radio, you put your
- 53:46head on my shoulders. Less of two evils. He kind of rolling that
- 53:50gave him the gag, the Zoibeck episode Christmas Story. It's just kind of
- 53:54it's just kind of a punchline, now, isn't he years it's you know,
- 53:59almost zoid burgish. Yeah, that's what he's coming down to. Yeah,
- 54:01it's just the old the silly old professor. Now, I always good
- 54:06episode is going forward, but up to this point anyway. So then we
- 54:07got the front Row, got zap Kiff calculated Nixon and yeah, the alien
- 54:12from the episode five or six or what it was from there was my Three
- 54:16Sons episode The King the Emperor from that episode on the front row booing.
- 54:21I just love that they're so they've brought into it because he appeals to the
- 54:24laws coming dominated you know, boo, get that hippie off the head Dixon.
- 54:30Just the outrage. That's the thing about wrestling. Knows go to a
- 54:32live event and everyone's just buying into it because they everyone knows it's not real.
- 54:37But that's the fun of it. You Yeah, it's pantomime. You
- 54:40know, you're just you're playing along. Everyone else is playing along as well.
- 54:44It's okay to act like a dickhead, you know, no one,
- 54:45no one's going to judge you for it because we're all just wrestling fans.
- 54:49Just play along, don't be don't be that guy that he goes to a
- 54:52fucking ghost tour and goes you know, there's no such thing as ghosts,
- 54:53Like we fucking know it's not real. Why did you come forward? You
- 54:57don't like it? Just let us buy in to the Yeah, buy into
- 55:01the fantasy for a little while. So we meet again, most amusing girl
- 55:07who acts like fighters, training fighter who acts like girl. Keep laughing,
- 55:10Fnog, He's just never ending, mister Fogg. Terrible, terrible creature,
- 55:20is it, mister master Probably yeah, Master Phenog. I'm just I've just
- 55:24been writing, mister in my notes, Master Phenog, and Destructor A Midley
- 55:29starts killing ban Duck, just beating the shit out of him. And this
- 55:30is where foreman It drinks the fat out of his mouth. Fry, it's
- 55:34revealed he has wearing the brain slug, which was a good reveal. I'll
- 55:37give it that. He's like throwing the towel for love of god, Fry,
- 55:39why aren't you helping me? And because the only way to throw in
- 55:43the towel according to the story, So he can't because the brain slug.
- 55:45So they sort of write that little um, what would you call it?
- 55:49Not a plothole? But it's just like, well, why did you just
- 55:51end the fight while he can't. Then we get the really great slow mo
- 55:53which is a takeoff of which movie, mister Davis, I'll leave it for
- 55:55you of Raging Bull starring Robert Nero and former heavyweight champion Jake LaMotta, one
- 56:01of the greatest movies of all time, which is where we get Raging Bender
- 56:05from. Correct, Except when I was a kid, whenever I saw a
- 56:07raging Bender, I was frais, my little dirty mone went to raging Boner.
- 56:13You're only human. I'm only human. But now, when Bender's getting
- 56:16beaten up, he yells at mummy. And that's the thing you see a
- 56:21lot like when people and guys, grown men feel like they're about to meet
- 56:23their maker, they yell for mummy. Yeah. Yeah, whether you're on
- 56:28Normandy Beach or in the wrestling ring, it's usually your mum. You're calling
- 56:31for Leela. She notices a little radar didition, What's what's that? What's
- 56:35going on here? And Benders asking why won't anyone help him? She looks
- 56:37under, she sees under the ring and he is basically, what's those suits
- 56:43called where it's emotion emotion capture, I think kind of yeah yeah, motion
- 56:46capture, yeah yeah, and she um, she starts fighting hile you're an
- 56:51excellent student. Too bad, I was a lousy teacher. And they're having
- 56:52their big fight, big battle, and Bender says, this is where our
- 56:57destructor starts moving backwards, and Benders like, what's endering time? Take off
- 57:01of Hulk. It's clobbering time, clab and talking time. Yeah, yeah,
- 57:05no, the thing from the Fantastic the Thing, Yes, the Fantastic
- 57:09four, not the Fantastic four. Jesus Christ, I'm messing up my my
- 57:15MCUs. Yes, but yes, So they're having a big fight and Lela
- 57:20realized that she can grab the hand of him slam it down into his own
- 57:22head, which I thought was a good twist. It was. It proves
- 57:27that Leela was, you know, just a smart fighter, yes, and
- 57:31which unfortunately results in Bender losing anyway, gets squashed by the structor. Everyone
- 57:37everyone wins in the end, except for Bender, who gets flattened out.
- 57:40But he get he does, but at least he does get a ten percent
- 57:43off whenever he goes to what's the bed bath and beyond that is correct,
- 57:46and you know Leally gets to feel good about herself because I beat up somebody
- 57:50who hurt my feelings in high school. Yes, and Friday. No one
- 57:52has the brain's lug either, because it's staffed to death. Now this is
- 57:55a reference to an episode going forward that gets mentioned an episode going for it.
- 58:00Apparently he has the delta brain wave. So the delta brain wave is
- 58:02something that people have who weren't from the future. So that's why it wasn't
- 58:07able to get any sustenance from his brain. Would you find out in a
- 58:10future episode why that is the case. But that's why he has a different
- 58:14brain wave to herb he starts, that's why the brain slug as they were
- 58:17to feast on him and not on fright, that is the future of future
- 58:22rama. M So they roll up bender, I mean, and with rich
- 58:24Little and George Foreman doing this a bit that kind of lost to me,
- 58:29so said, he says things funny, that's the gag, But it wasn't
- 58:32really much of an ending. I felt the ending was for an episode that
- 58:37was so over the top and you know, flamboyant with wrestling and things like
- 58:39that was a kind of flat ending for me, It's kind of petered out,
- 58:44didn't it. Yeah, it didn't really end with a bang, just
- 58:45sort of a whimper. Yeah, anyway, but that aside. As a
- 58:50wrestling fan, I've always loved this episode. I think they did a beautiful
- 58:52mass to the pro wrestling industry of this. They can tell they definitely some
- 58:57of them were wrestling fans. Whoever put this episode together, because just a
- 58:59little details that really really made up for the what it lacked. But anyway,
- 59:04yeah, Raging Bennet, fantastic episode of Future and I hope you guys
- 59:06have enjoyed our review. The next episode we are going to be doing is
- 59:09a Bicyclops Built for two. Now this episode, mister Davis, we have
- 59:14officially reached the point in Futurama in which Mitch and I were doing the show
- 59:19and we stopped here. So it's going forward. It's all fresh. You've
- 59:22never heard Dano's perspective of bicyclops built for two. It's all it's all clear,
- 59:25sailing ahead, mister Davis, no retreads here, forget about that grinter
- 59:30guy. That's a virgin territory from here and now, Yes, a bicyclops
- 59:35built for two is the next episode of Here of Tailor the Future. Thank
- 59:37you so much guys for supporting us here on the network. Absolute champions,
