- 0:00Welcome to the One Small Change. And as always, I am thrilled
- 0:04that you're here to embark on this journey of exploration and
- 0:07transformation with me. And I'm your host, Yvonne McCoy, and I bring
- 0:11almost 30 years of entrepreneurial experience and passion for
- 0:15discovering growth through the power of seemingly small change. And
- 0:18what I realized just the other day is the part of that change
- 0:22actually helps you to get clarity because you're taking action,
- 0:26you're getting clarity, which makes you more confident. So, like
- 0:29I said, thank you for joining us. And
- 0:33today we have an amazing person
- 0:37and what we're going to talk about is going to change every part of
- 0:41your life. And Kami, I'm not sure
- 0:44I can say your last name correctly. It's Juanis.
- 0:48Juannus. I wasn't sure. So, Kami Wanus. And she's
- 0:52going to share how a smaller, unexpected or
- 0:55insignificant decision sparked remarkable
- 0:58transformation in either her personal or professional
- 1:02life. And I gotta tell you, we talked so much the
- 1:05other day that our problem is going to be not what we're going to talk
- 1:09about, but how we can get enough, you know, make sense
- 1:13of what we're talking about in the time that we have. So,
- 1:16Tammy, thank you so much for being here. You're going to talk about
- 1:20a lot of things, but one of them is lifelong learning, which I'm
- 1:23also passionate about. So tell us how you got to
- 1:27be where you are and doing what you're doing. Yeah, that's such a great
- 1:31question. Because I was a classroom teacher. I was a high school English
- 1:34teacher for seven years. And I came to homeschool when I had
- 1:38my son. I just felt like that was right for us. And
- 1:42then when I was homeschooling, I actually made a really
- 1:46big mistake. Even though I. In the classroom, what
- 1:50I was doing all the time was trying to get kids. I saw this apathy
- 1:53in this. This just general.
- 1:57Just general apatheticness about learning, about being
- 2:01excited about. I mean, they're teenagers, right? So being excited about anything
- 2:05sometimes is a big deal. But just literally being excited about
- 2:08learning, it was. They've been through the system so long. It was very difficult
- 2:12for me. And I focused a lot on that. Inspiring that love of learning
- 2:16or just sparking that a little bit again in their life. So I did the
- 2:20same thing when I was in school. I was a very big box
- 2:23checker is what I always call it. I was just tell me what to do
- 2:26and I'll do it. And I did very well in that. I graduated
- 2:30all the way through college. I was cum laude I. I went through the credential
- 2:34program, teaching program. I. And I didn't actually get my love of
- 2:38learning back until I was a senior in. In college. And
- 2:42I was studying something. I was writing a paper. You guys, those of you that
- 2:45are old enough to know that back in the days, we always
- 2:49Xerox copied all our research for papers, right? So we copied.
- 2:53I was sitting on the floor with all this Xerox copiness, and I was
- 2:56like, this is what I get to do for a living.
- 3:01Like, I get to study things I like to learn about. I
- 3:04was studying Native American language revitalization in
- 3:08California. Very specific. And it was fascinating to
- 3:12me. I was a Native American studies minor, and I was just so
- 3:15juiced. And that's when I started loving learning
- 3:19again. But guess what? I was a senior in college. I was almost done. The
- 3:22students that I worked with, they were in school for just, you know, for all
- 3:26their high school career and their middle school and elementary career, and they
- 3:29had been box checking for so long that they didn't like learning anymore.
- 3:33When I went to homeschool my son, that same.
- 3:37For some reason, that didn't occur to me in my mind that that was
- 3:41what I was trying to do, even though in the subconscious I was. And I
- 3:44started box checking with him and I. We hated it. And within two
- 3:48weeks were both crying every day. And I think,
- 3:52just to interrupt you, I think that is,
- 3:56it's. I think it's. For a lot of teachers, that's their frustration as
- 3:59well. They. They have to, you know, if they don't move their kids through
- 4:03the benchmarks and stuff like that, that they don't get a chance
- 4:07to ignite their curiosity. And, you know, one of the
- 4:10stories that I tell is I couldn't read in second grade and
- 4:14I met. I could memorize, but I couldn't read. And I had a teacher
- 4:19that not only did she teach me to read, she teach. She
- 4:23taught me a love of reading and what it could explore for me.
- 4:26And I think that was even a bigger gift than the reading.
- 4:30Oh, for sure. Do you know, I mean, she, she always read exciting
- 4:34stories to us and, you know, you wanted to know more and that kind of
- 4:37thing. And then, you know, you get into the, you know, you get into high
- 4:40school and you just, you know, you want to get good grades and, you know,
- 4:43and you lose that, that curiosity and the out of the
- 4:47box thinking, you know, yeah, most kids actually lose their love of
- 4:51learning by grade three. And it's super sad, but
- 4:54I did that with my Own son. We're sitting there crying every day. And I
- 4:57realized I stopped everything. And I said, something's wrong. I'm doing something
- 5:01wrong because it's not him, obviously. And so I stopped everything.
- 5:05And what I realized was I was doing exactly what I knew didn't work in
- 5:08school. I was focusing on box checking instead of focusing on his love
- 5:12learning. So we switch gears through. Through a lot of trial and error,
- 5:15I realized that creating a culture where love of learning
- 5:19stays high develops lifelong learners and leaders. And right
- 5:22now I have a 17 year old lifelong learner. I can't undo it if I
- 5:26tried at this point, it's kind of crazy, but that is
- 5:30the key to success in any endeavor when we want to
- 5:33develop leaders. If you want to be a leader, a true leader, not
- 5:37a positional leader, but a true leader, which I know all of your audience
- 5:41does, because that's who you attract. You attract leaders
- 5:44because you're so incredible. So that's what it
- 5:48takes to be a leader. You have to be a lifelong learner. If you're an
- 5:52entrepreneur, you know, you have to be a lifelong learner. You have to
- 5:56be a hungry student. I'm reading a book right now. It's
- 5:59Question Based Selling. It's. It's you. You probably remember it from
- 6:03back in your corporate days. It's actually a corporate book from a while ago
- 6:07and decades ago. And I'm re. I'm just hungry. No one
- 6:11else. I mean, that's a random book that's not even recommended these
- 6:15days to read. But I just am hungry. And when you're an
- 6:18entrepreneur, when you, if you want to be successful, if you want to be a
- 6:21true leader in your industry, if you want to be a true leader in the
- 6:25world and you want to raise up other people to be leaders, you
- 6:29have to be a lifelong learner. So you said a couple of things that
- 6:33I think are so important, and I just kind of want to shine a light
- 6:36on them. And one of the biggest change for me that
- 6:39happened was I was raised
- 6:43to not fail. Failure was not an option. And
- 6:47it wasn't until I was much older that I realized
- 6:51that that fear of failure actually kept me from doing things.
- 6:56If I didn't think I could succeed, I didn't do it. So, you know, the
- 6:59story that I tell is when I ran for student council president,
- 7:03my mom said, I don't want you to do that. And I'm like, why? And
- 7:07she said, because you could lose. And I go, mom, there are five of us
- 7:09running. There's an 80% chance I'm going to lo. The
- 7:13piece that I didn't recognize was you actually
- 7:17learn more from failure than you do from success.
- 7:21Because when we succeed, we go, okay, great, I'll do that again.
- 7:24And you, you know, you do it again. And it may not work because you
- 7:28don't know why it worked or what the circumstances were that made it work the
- 7:31first time. But when it fails, you take the time to, like,
- 7:35analyze it and evaluate what's going on. So,
- 7:39you know, small changes can. Can show up as failures
- 7:43that make you go, ah, I want to do this better. Right?
- 7:48Absolutely. The other thing that you said had to do with
- 7:51leadership, and this is my opinion, and I'm
- 7:54sticking with it, but I kind of think that, you know, leadership starts with
- 7:58personal leadership. And that doesn't mean that you have an authority or a
- 8:02title. You have to learn to manage and lead yourself.
- 8:05And that's what we are, I think, not teaching people and
- 8:09teaching students. Because whether you're going to be an
- 8:12entrepreneur or whether you're going to be, you know, an employee or
- 8:16manager, whatever, personal
- 8:19leadership is a portable skill that you can take with
- 8:23you wherever you go. And that is so important
- 8:27that you can, you know who you are, you know what your
- 8:31style is, you know what you believe in, and that's how you go for it,
- 8:34and that's how you show up. And curiosity to me is just
- 8:38part of that, because kind of the opposite
- 8:42of curiosity to me is being judgmental. It's
- 8:46like, we always do it this way. We never do it like this. Why would
- 8:49you even think about doing it like that? You know, and curiosity
- 8:53is what happens if we do do something different?
- 8:57What happens is there is a better way to do this, that we don't need
- 9:00to go through 50 steps. We can, you know, do it in 10 or
- 9:04whatever. So I'm sorry, that was my soapbox. But. But, you
- 9:07know, you and I are on the same page about lifelong learning, and it needs
- 9:10to start early. Absolutely. And that personal leadership that
- 9:14you'd mentioned, that goes that you could. If you focus on
- 9:18it in one area, it transfers to all areas. And guess what? That
- 9:22love of learning, that lifelong learning, it's contagious.
- 9:26It's contagious because when my son and I made a
- 9:29commitment to read 30 minutes, or actually it was.
- 9:33My son reads all the time, obviously, but it's. I made the commitment to read
- 9:3730 minutes a day, and I made that commitment. And because. Because
- 9:40we were doing it so much, and he and I were exercising every day we're,
- 9:44we're reading every day, and we made this commitment to do that.
- 9:47My husband started going on more walks. My
- 9:51husband started reading his book more, and he's like, you guys are
- 9:55just, you know, inspiring me to read. And that's what
- 9:58happens is it changes, and then that transfers over to your business, and then
- 10:02it transfers over to your. Your other areas of your life,
- 10:06your health and your sleep and everything like that. It's pretty amazing.
- 10:10It is. And proximity to you
- 10:14is going to have an impact on people. And the choice is,
- 10:18is my proximity going to have a good impact or a bad impact?
- 10:22And when I say proximity, it can be somebody that you don't know
- 10:26their name, that you. That you don't know them, that the way
- 10:29that you act has an impact on, on. On what they do. I
- 10:33mean, you see how somebody behaves, and you go, I
- 10:37want to be like that, or I don't want to be like that. Right. You
- 10:40know, and so that is, you know, when people say, where did you
- 10:44hear that? You know, I say, make your learning last. And so part of
- 10:48that is you learn something, you apply it and share it. When you share it,
- 10:52people are like, where did you get that from? Where did you learn that from?
- 10:55Right? And now they're curious about, you know, what's going on. All
- 10:58right, keep going. So. So for those of us that
- 11:02are adults now or doing our business,
- 11:06and maybe we. We had that
- 11:10lifelong learning kind of snubbed out of us a little bit, and we still are
- 11:13in that box checking mode, you know, And I think this is why
- 11:17people don't get a lot out of some of these big classes or courses and
- 11:21stuff. It's like, they tell me to go this step, this step, you know, And
- 11:24I'm following exactly the way they say to it. What are some
- 11:28things we can do now, possibly. This is a great
- 11:31example. Yvonne, a great question, because I.
- 11:35There are certain parts of your business where you absolutely love, and it's like in
- 11:39your passion area, right? So one of the things I love to do is I
- 11:42love live talking. I love coaching, I love teaching.
- 11:45That's my jam. I love interacting with people. I
- 11:49personally do not enjoy writing emails. And
- 11:52so the one thing I had to do was I
- 11:56had. I realized that my, my open rate was going
- 12:00down, and I was like, what's happening? And then I heard
- 12:03somebody say, if you don't like writing
- 12:07your emails, people won't want to read
- 12:10your emails. And I was like, oh, stab in
- 12:14the heart, right? And I actually really like writing I
- 12:18just don't like writing emails. And so what I did
- 12:22was I started digging and I started
- 12:25hungrily looking into how successful
- 12:29copywriters write emails, how people in the top
- 12:33levels of our industries are writing emails. And I
- 12:36studied them and I looked at what the best parts were, what,
- 12:40what are the things that made me open them, and I, I studied
- 12:43copywriters and I follow them, and I just went to everything
- 12:47I could get on writing emails. And I started to change my
- 12:51format. I overhauled it completely and it's continuing
- 12:55to go up because, and I actually don't hate writing
- 12:58them anymore. I actually really enjoy because I made it,
- 13:03I made it something that's personal to me. Yeah. And so I,
- 13:07and I think that is, is, you know, I did not like writing emails
- 13:10either. And, and, and one of the things that, you know, the
- 13:14first thing is be yourself. You know, the whole part of the be found
- 13:18framework is be yourself. Don't try to be somebody else.
- 13:21Don't try to put, you know, like the first book that I was ever in,
- 13:25I wanted it to be an academic, something that's going
- 13:28to change the world. Right. And that's not me. I'm very
- 13:32practical. You know, when I ended up, I spent a year and
- 13:36a half and I had one paragraph, and then when
- 13:40I finally somebody was smart enough to say to me, what, what
- 13:44do you want people to get out of this? What is the purpose of this?
- 13:47And I said, I want people to be able to take action and
- 13:51wrote the book, you know, wrote my chapter in two days. So it's
- 13:54got to be something that you, that you're fired up about, right?
- 13:58And you can be fired up about more than one thing.
- 14:02So I always tell people, what are five things that you do in your life
- 14:06on a regular basis? For me, obviously, it's my business.
- 14:10It's humor. You got to have humor. To me, it's
- 14:14my weight loss journey, it's my kids, and it's my
- 14:17pets. Those are the things that I talk about. And
- 14:21so, you know, when you're doing that, you get
- 14:24curious about what are the connections between some of these things. So, for instance,
- 14:28I did a post that said,
- 14:33what happens when the dog catches the car? You know, when your
- 14:36marketing finally works, but you're not ready for it? You know, I talk
- 14:40about weird stuff like that, you know, and I enjoy it. I mean,
- 14:43I just put out a post for my birthday that said I didn't think I
- 14:47would be doing Pilates and I feel like this awkward baby elephant.
- 14:51Right. And so you're
- 14:55you have to bring you. Because that's how you
- 14:59were found. People go, I relate to that. I
- 15:02understand that. Right. And you don't have. The good
- 15:06thing is you don't have to be perfect. So you don't have to keep practicing
- 15:09to be perfect. To be practicing to be perfect. Because
- 15:13by the time you think you have it pretty good, whatever you were
- 15:17practicing for has now passed. You've missed the
- 15:21opportunity. And so, you know. All right, so
- 15:25we both agree that one of the things to do is be yourself and
- 15:29be curious about the things that you're naturally curious about.
- 15:34Yes, absolutely. Yeah. What else?
- 15:37And to be curious about things that you need to improve on.
- 15:42So to whatever you know what those are those areas of your life.
- 15:46One of those things, you know, I have a health. Chronic
- 15:49health issue and I am just
- 15:53hungry for information on health. And so
- 15:57a lot of our lifestyles changed over the last for
- 16:01decade and a half because we've just been on that journey
- 16:05and so something. Yeah, that's something. That's, that's your urgent to
- 16:08me. But the emails, the things that I don't really like doing, how
- 16:12can I do them more efficiently? How can I do them better? How can I
- 16:15enjoy doing them? Or how can we hire somebody else
- 16:19to do it right? How can we get to the place to. To get that
- 16:22done? Or how can we make connections with people? I think that one of the,
- 16:26one of the really amazing things is being hungry with the people that
- 16:30you're interested into. So. Or the people that you inter in
- 16:33interact with. So you know, you and I are in different
- 16:37industries, but we are very,
- 16:41very aligned. And I really, really enjoy
- 16:44building our relationship because it's something that we
- 16:48align a lot of places and but we use it in different ways and
- 16:52I think that's a really important connection. So everybody has, everyone
- 16:56has something to teach you. You mention or whether it's something you want
- 16:59or something you don't want to do or be like or whatever.
- 17:03But that kind of curiosity, boy, if we had that kind of
- 17:07curiosity in everybody in the
- 17:10society right now, what kind of society would we
- 17:14have if people were genuinely curious about why is it that. What?
- 17:18Tell me how you think. Tell me how you think. Tell me how that works.
- 17:22What can I learn from you? Even if it's what not to do, what not
- 17:25to whatever that would be. Oh,
- 17:28transformational. I just, you said something and it,
- 17:32it really reminded me of what just happened with me and my grandson.
- 17:36So one of the things that I think is really important
- 17:39is that if you have a skill or a
- 17:43passion that it's kind of transferable. So, you
- 17:46know, you don't have 24 hours to be an entrepreneur and
- 17:50another 24 hours to be a person, you know, in your personal
- 17:54life. And so I always say whatever models or, you know,
- 17:57kinds of formats you use in one, you should be
- 18:01able to use it in the other because one is you don't have to have
- 18:05two separate things that you have to switch back and forth, but also you will
- 18:09use it more and so you will internalize it more. So
- 18:12I had this situation with my grandson where
- 18:16he, he decided he had a weird idea of what he was going to do
- 18:20about school. And I said to him, I want you to think about
- 18:24what your long term plan is. Not just think about what's
- 18:28right in front of you, but what you want to do further down the
- 18:31road, which I never did with my kids. Okay?
- 18:35And so the important part was that I wasn't saying,
- 18:39are you going to do this? Are you going to do this? Are you going
- 18:41to do this? I was like, what are you going to do? You know, being
- 18:44curious and, you know, bring up. And then
- 18:48he had said he was, he was going to be a professional basketball player. And
- 18:51he's actually pretty good. And as I shared with you before,
- 18:54then two days later he quit.
- 18:59And, and instead of saying which my normal, with my,
- 19:03my kids decades ago would be like, are you crazy? Have you lost your mind?
- 19:08You know, I said to him, how does this change your long term
- 19:11plans? What does this mean for you now? Do you
- 19:15still want to be a professional ball player? And if so, how are you going
- 19:18to get there? And if you don't, you know, he, he has an idea
- 19:22for a business. It's like, how is this going to impact your business?
- 19:25Right? And I really, I had to stop myself
- 19:29to say, okay, this, you know, the old way is not where I am,
- 19:33it's not what I'm, you know, coaching people on. How does
- 19:37this work in my personal life, right?
- 19:41And it was interesting to hear him talk about the
- 19:44things that, you know, he said. And just as a, as a final
- 19:48caveat to this whole thing, first of all, he, he, they
- 19:52did a video at his. One of the things I had said to him when
- 19:54he wanted to be a professional ball player, which you're gonna have to learn to
- 19:58speak because nobody's going to pay you to endorse things if you go
- 20:02anyway in this video, the kid is like a class act.
- 20:06I'm like, oh God, I have never seen this kid, he's like, I am so
- 20:09happy to be here. And you know, I get lots of support from. So I'm
- 20:13like, who is this? Right? And just
- 20:17like you said to me, that's a 15 year old. Two days later he was
- 20:20back in basketball practice again. So who knows what he's gonna. There you
- 20:24go. That's a 15 year old for you. Yeah, but the idea is,
- 20:27what is your long term? And I think
- 20:31that's where
- 20:35we don't have that skill as an adult. Many of
- 20:39us, because we never learned it as a kid, because we were told,
- 20:42go to school today, get this for this marking period for this
- 20:46season of whatever you're playing for this do, you know, you're like,
- 20:51really blinders on. And I think that
- 20:55I have learned that I am very focused.
- 20:58I'm, you know, I'm like, what is the fastest route to get from here
- 21:02to there? And what I have learned from my husband is the
- 21:05downside to that, because every strength that you have has a downside.
- 21:10The downside to that is that I do not notice a lot of things
- 21:14that are not in my immediate path.
- 21:18And I mean, we will get out of the car and he will say, did
- 21:21you look at the flowers I planted? And I'm like, huh, huh? I'm trying to
- 21:24get, you know, so talk about that a little bit.
- 21:28Like, you know, a skill that you get as
- 21:32a young person and how important it is,
- 21:35you know, as you are an adult. But if you haven't gotten it as
- 21:39an adult, you can still get it. Yeah, 1,000%. That's
- 21:43exactly what I'm doing with parents when I work with homeschool parents to
- 21:47help them raise leaders and lifelong learners. And that's very important to me
- 21:51because our kids want to be leaders. They want to be
- 21:54true leaders. They want to make a difference and impact in the world, but they
- 21:57just don't know how. We have to give them the environment, we have to give
- 22:00them the lifelong learning, learning, and we have to give them the skills, the leadership
- 22:03skills to be able to get to that place, at least the beginning skills. And
- 22:07so, but the hunger is important and that's the most important thing. And
- 22:11so when we are an adult, when we're doing that with our kids, we're also,
- 22:15guess what, we're doing it with ourselves. Because you have to. You have to.
- 22:18Because if that, if you're not doing it, they're not going to. And you have
- 22:22to speak from experience too. And it's okay if you're not of you
- 22:25not you're not, you know, Martin
- 22:29Luther King Jr. Or something, you know, it's okay if you're not that, but you
- 22:32at least need to be going through it with them together. And that creates a
- 22:36very big important journey that you can share with
- 22:40other people and you can share with them, you can share with anybody else. But
- 22:44when you are an adult and you never got that yourself, if
- 22:47you want to help people, you in
- 22:51your business, in your life, you have to be able to,
- 22:55to be on that curiosity journey together. And that end goal focus is
- 22:59so important. Nobody. That's one of the things I tell parents. The very first
- 23:02thing we talk about, the very first thing that's in my inspiring
- 23:06lifelong learning academy is we have to get that end goal defined. What
- 23:10is that person, that vision of a picture of a 25 year
- 23:13old of your kids when they're 25 and they're living their best life
- 23:17or they're doing their thing, what does that picture look like? Because
- 23:21if we don't have that, we're just driving around in the car
- 23:25without a destination in the gps, hoping
- 23:29that we're going to get there and you're never going to. Just like in our
- 23:33business, if we don't have a goal, an end goal, we don't have a. And
- 23:36you don't even necessarily have to have, oh, I know exactly what it's going to
- 23:39look like 25 years down the road because we don't have, we don't have
- 23:43that vision necessarily. Some of us do. But we can
- 23:46have a what is it going to look like at the end of this year?
- 23:49What is it? What, what is that picture look like? And
- 23:53then we can work backwards from there and make sure that everything else lines up
- 23:56because otherwise we're just going through the motions of. And
- 24:00we see. I know you see a lot of Yvonne because you work with some
- 24:03pretty amazing people and, and working with business owners. You
- 24:07see them dabble, dabble and dabble, dabble and
- 24:10dabble over here and dabble, dabble over there and this over here and
- 24:14oh, shiny object and shiny object and then where
- 24:18we have no destination, we have to make sure that everything lines up and be
- 24:21super intentional about that. But if we don't have that end goal, we,
- 24:25we, we don't even know where we're going. So it's very important that we do
- 24:29that. Don't go into business saying, I just want to, you know, like,
- 24:32I have some people, you know, we have to get more specific than that
- 24:36in order to be able to actually help people and that is
- 24:40something that I know you do really well with everyone, Yvonne. You're amazing at that.
- 24:44So, yeah, so I, you know, and one of the things that I
- 24:48say that probably was another one of those things
- 24:52is there's always going to be somebody ahead of you, and there's always going to
- 24:55be somebody behind you in terms of experience. And so, you
- 24:59know, you learn from the people that are ahead of you, but people that
- 25:02are not, as far as you learn from you. And so you can help,
- 25:06you know, where you are right now is good enough to
- 25:10help people who haven't had the experience that you have. And in business
- 25:14particularly, it's really important that you do
- 25:18the right thing for the right reason at the right
- 25:21time, the right way at the right time, and it's right for you. I mean,
- 25:25something that I would have done, you
- 25:29know, five years ago is not the same thing I would do now. Having
- 25:32experience that I have now, I would do it differently. And in five years,
- 25:36in the future, I still probably, you know, I. The main thread would
- 25:40be the same, the vision would be the same. Right. The mindset and
- 25:43the, you know, the values would be the same. But the
- 25:47way I would do it would be different, partially because they're different. You know, they're
- 25:51going to be new technologies and, you know, all these other things that are happening.
- 25:55So, okay, let's do this, because we're going to run out of time. I need
- 25:57to know. Tell us about the free gift.
- 26:01Yeah. So if you are a parent of kids who are still
- 26:05in school or, hey, even if you're not there, we're talking about
- 26:09lifelong learning. And to be alive, lifelong learner, it looks a certain way.
- 26:13There are different habits, there are things you do on a regular
- 26:16basis. And so what I have is the love of
- 26:20learning Launchpad, which is designed for families, but
- 26:24if you are not, you can still take it. And it gives you a
- 26:27snapshot of where your love of learning is at right now.
- 26:31And this is just a little quiz, but it really dials in as
- 26:35you're taking it. You can see, see, do I do that? How often do I
- 26:38do that? What is that? And it's really going to give you a good picture
- 26:41of where your love of learning is right now. And if you have a family
- 26:45and you have kids, it's really going to help you as a
- 26:49family, take an assessment of where you're at, and you can take it again and
- 26:52again and again. It's pretty amazing. And, and the other thing is, we talked about
- 26:56transferable, so, you know, if you don't have,
- 27:00you know, if you're. Your kids are not school age right now, you may have
- 27:03grandkids, but transferable in terms of business
- 27:08is who are the people on your team? Who are the people you're bringing in
- 27:11with you because you want to inspire? You don't want to just bring
- 27:15in drones. You want to bring in people who are also going to be inspired
- 27:19and have that same level of learning. So I would recommend
- 27:23that you definitely, definitely get this, because
- 27:26lifelong learning is a gift that keeps giving,
- 27:29obviously, because it's lifelong. So. All right, so
- 27:33we got to do the. We got to do the commercial, and
- 27:37you and I could keep going for, like, forever. We
- 27:41did on Monday. Yeah.
- 27:44Okay. So the first thing is make sure
- 27:48that you subscribe and share and engage on social media
- 27:52about the podcast. The reason I do this is
- 27:56because I know that we are
- 28:00all at different places and we need different things. And so I try
- 28:03to bring people into your world that you may not meet on your own.
- 28:07And it's there to have a vibrant community and
- 28:11fuel your quest for impact and growth. And so one
- 28:15of the things with the one small change is that even a small
- 28:19change can yield big transformations. I think
- 28:23of it as kind of like the spokes on a wheel where in the center,
- 28:26it's really small, but the more you do it over time, the. The amount of
- 28:29area you cover, much bigger. And so that's what I'm hoping
- 28:33that you will get out of this. And you should go back to the first
- 28:36episode. There's some episodes that I've done that I've done all by
- 28:40myself, and, you know, because I like to talk
- 28:44and you can look at them too, but the gifts and stuff like that, and
- 28:47be sure you pick up Cami's gift. So, Cami,
- 28:50I did not ask you when was the last time you did something new for
- 28:54the first time? Gosh, you know, I feel like that's an
- 28:58everyday endeavor for me.
- 29:02So one of the things that. That I definitely
- 29:06do on a regular basis is I look for those things to do on a.
- 29:10Is to do things I haven't done before. And
- 29:14for me, definitely one of the things I've. I haven't done.
- 29:19You know, honestly, recently it was that reading the 30 minutes every
- 29:23day because I haven't done that in years. And
- 29:27it was a game changer because it not
- 29:30only, like you said, it's something that transfers everywhere. And
- 29:34it's not only in that one area, it's also building my mindset, my
- 29:38growth, my business and that was. That was trying something new,
- 29:42because I hadn't done that in a long time. And it. I
- 29:45remembered what it. How impactful it was, but I went back
- 29:49to it, and it had been a long time. It was amazing.
- 29:53Sometimes the things that you did when you were starting out.
- 29:57I think I mentioned I was trying to declutter my office, and I don't know
- 30:00if it was you or not, but I looked at some of the ideas that
- 30:03I had when I started, and I went, yeah, these are really good.
- 30:07I just need to bring. I just need to bring them up today.
- 30:11So I think I really want people to take away the
- 30:14idea that you can take old ideas and. And.
- 30:18And tweak them. You can. Whatever you have can be transferred
- 30:22from your personal and your business. So what are your last words? What are your
- 30:26words of wisdom? My words of wisdom are just
- 30:29be hungry learning. One of the message that I
- 30:33have in I teach families how to do is create that
- 30:36culture where learning happens everywhere, all the time, and that's the message that
- 30:40we're sending to our kids. It to. To become
- 30:43lifelong learners is learning happens everywhere, all the time.
- 30:47So if you live through that message through yourself, learning
- 30:51happens everywhere, all the time, that you
- 30:55will open yourself up to so much more passion,
- 30:59so much more inspiration, and you'll make a lot of
- 31:02progress. And I. And I think
- 31:06just to. To. To jump onto that, I think what
- 31:09that does for entrepreneurs is it keeps you
- 31:13relevant and passionate for your clients. And who doesn't want to work
- 31:17with somebody like that? Absolutely. Okay,
- 31:20we gotta stop. We can keep going, but we gotta stop.
- 31:24Okay? So one of the things I want to say is that, remember, the
- 31:28change is simple, but it's not always easy, and it requires a certain amount of
- 31:32courage and resilience and a willingness to step outside your comfort
- 31:36zone. I always say if you're not feeling some butterflies, then
- 31:39it means that you don't care. You don't. You know, if you've got that, yeah,
- 31:43I'm just gonna do this. It means that you don't care. So you want to
- 31:46feel a little bit uncomfortable, right? Because it means that you're on the right track.
- 31:50And so I hope that you'll continue to join me on the one small
- 31:53change, and until the next time, stay very,
- 31:57very curious. Cami, thank you so much for your gift.
- 32:01Thank you so much for your thoughts. Of course.
- 32:04Anytime. Bye.
