- 0:00Speaker 1: Joining us now with more Texas Congressman Brandon Gil Democratic
- 0:04Speaker 1: strategist and polster Doug Shown and political analyst May Cook
- 0:08Speaker 1: Well Congressman Gil. With something like this ever passed in
- 0:12Speaker 1: the United States Congress, I mean, can we put something
- 0:15Speaker 1: like a wealth tax, not an income tax, a wealth
- 0:17Speaker 1: tax to a vote so we can see which Democrats
- 0:20Speaker 1: are nutty enough to actually support it.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I think a vote would certainly be interesting. You know
- 0:27Speaker 2: what's funny is that this is something that Governor Newsom
- 0:30Speaker 2: opposed in his own state but supports nationwide. I think
- 0:33Speaker 2: he intuitively knows that it's a terrible idea, it's horrible
- 0:37Speaker 2: economic policy. But this is the direction that the Democrat
- 0:41Speaker 2: Party is going. I think sometimes it's easy to look
- 0:44Speaker 2: and say, you know that the fringe leftists are only
- 0:46Speaker 2: in California, or they're only in New York, They're not
- 0:49Speaker 2: anywhere else. They are growing across the country, and those
- 0:52Speaker 2: are the people who set the tone for the Democrat
- 0:55Speaker 2: Party nationally. So this stuff is coming. I would love
- 0:59Speaker 2: to see every Democrat in the House take a vote
- 1:01Speaker 2: on this, knowing that they're either going to upset a
- 1:04Speaker 2: really radically crazy base or they're going to vote for
- 1:09Speaker 2: terrible policy.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Tug shown you helped Bill Clinton get elected at a
- 1:14Speaker 1: time when there was a Democratic Leadership Council with this
- 1:17Speaker 1: main street moderate, more moderate Democratic group.
- 1:20Speaker 3: They don't even exist. They disbanded years ago.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I know that you're often very critical of members of
- 1:24Speaker 1: your party for going way too far to the left,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and people like Graham Plattnor you've called for him to
- 1:28Speaker 1: step aside.
- 1:29Speaker 3: What do you make of as serious.
- 1:31Speaker 1: A contender for twenty twenty like Governor Newsom, the government
- 1:34Speaker 1: of the largest state in the country sort of leaning
- 1:36Speaker 1: into this brand of socialism, a confiscatory policy.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Kelly, And it's the right question my party instead of
- 1:45Speaker 4: developing an alternative agendas, Bill Clinton, did you know tough
- 1:49Speaker 4: fun crime, fiscal conservative reigning and welfare is doing the opposite.
- 1:55Speaker 4: It's appeasement of the far left, of the progressives of
- 1:59Speaker 4: this so which underscores why Gavin Newsom is doing what
- 2:04Speaker 4: he's doing with a wealth tax, and why Senator Schumer
- 2:08Speaker 4: said what he did about Democrats being a big tent
- 2:12Speaker 4: including progressives, socialists and what few moderates still remain, and.
- 2:20Speaker 1: The heck tell us and remind us why you are
- 2:23Speaker 1: hurting the people who work for folks who are generating
- 2:26Speaker 1: the wealth and the jobs, and the capitalism and the
- 2:28Speaker 1: innovation in our country. When you try to put on
- 2:31Speaker 1: top of the many taxes, they already pay another tax
- 2:34Speaker 1: in this case of quote wealth tax.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Well, Kelly, and this is really simple. It's because the
- 2:40Speaker 5: Democrat Party lost their way. They learned nothing from their
- 2:43Speaker 5: autopsy report. Their message today is still TDS, Get Trump.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Orange Man is bad. That's what I hear on the streets.
- 2:51Speaker 5: So then you have a hijacking of the party. The
- 2:54Speaker 5: communists have been here for decades and they have realized
- 2:57Speaker 5: there's an anger of frustration that's in America. So let's
- 3:01Speaker 5: use the front door of affordability, and then the back
- 3:04Speaker 5: door is immediately tax the rich, get rid of ice,
- 3:09Speaker 5: make sure that we have Medicaid, Medicare healthcare for all,
- 3:13Speaker 5: and continue to dilute the American dream.
- 3:17Speaker 3: And they're winning.
- 3:18Speaker 5: It's not just California and New York, it's across our country.
- 3:22Speaker 5: We're looking at eight states now that are governing by communism.
- 3:27Speaker 5: So it's only a matter of time before Hakim Jeffries
- 3:29Speaker 5: and others are diluted. Because remember, you just need a
- 3:32Speaker 5: small voting block in Congress to stop an agenda, just
- 3:36Speaker 5: as Senator Soon that. I mean, they're holding Democrats hostage
- 3:39Speaker 5: and Democrats have paralysis today and they're in denial because
- 3:43Speaker 5: Hakim Jeffries is thing were united.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that he does not understand the trouble
- 3:49Speaker 1: he's in by a party that's no longer even.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Interested in demography.
- 3:53Speaker 1: It seems having the first African American speaker, having enough
- 3:56Speaker 1: women or having enough Hispanics. They're about radical ideology now.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Congress and President Trump's endorsement record is unblemish. Yeah too
- 4:05Speaker 1: gubernatorial candidates, I would say it then you can't be
- 4:07Speaker 1: a stiff and you can't whiff. But outside of those two,
- 4:10Speaker 1: a flawless, completely unanimous in both the Senate endorsements sixteen
- 4:15Speaker 1: for sixteen, one hundred and thirty one for Onondre and
- 4:17Speaker 1: thirty one endorsements. What's the buzz on Capitol Hill about
- 4:21Speaker 1: President Trump as the leader of the party when the
- 4:23Speaker 1: Democrats are looking for a leader of their party.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Well, there's not any question about it. President Trump is
- 4:31Speaker 2: the undisputed leader of the Republican Party. Not only that,
- 4:34Speaker 2: President Trump is probably the most powerful person in American
- 4:38Speaker 2: politics we've seen definitely in modern American political history, if
- 4:42Speaker 2: not in all of American political history. This is somebody
- 4:46Speaker 2: that every single person in the Republican Party in Congress,
- 4:49Speaker 2: whether you're a right winger or whether you're a moderate,
- 4:53Speaker 2: looks to for guidance, for not only for legislative guidance,
- 4:57Speaker 2: but looks to be the leader, to be the person
- 5:00Speaker 2: who sets the agenda, the person who we know that
- 5:03Speaker 2: the president is with the people and for that reason
- 5:07Speaker 2: we need to stick with him. So I don't think
- 5:09Speaker 2: that there's any question on our side of the aisle
- 5:12Speaker 2: who the leader is and who we need to be
- 5:14Speaker 2: sticking with. The Democrats on the other side, of course,
- 5:17Speaker 2: are in total disarray and have no leadership, no message,
- 5:21Speaker 2: and no real vision that's compelling for the American people whatsoever.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And Doug, given the fact that President Trump is so dominant, fearless,
- 5:29Speaker 1: and peerless in this and that the Democrats had tried
- 5:32Speaker 1: everything they could to insult, impune, investigate, impeach and worse
- 5:36Speaker 1: President Trump and failed, how does the Democratic Party climb
- 5:39Speaker 1: out of this. You don't have to tell me who
- 5:41Speaker 1: the nominee would be in twenty twenty eight, but should
- 5:43Speaker 1: it be somebody from the left, the center, left, the center.
- 5:46Speaker 1: How do you read your party's prospects in the future ideologically, Well.
- 5:51Speaker 4: I would say, first, the Democrats are going to run
- 5:55Speaker 4: against the Republicans and against Trump on affordability because they
- 5:59Speaker 4: don't have an agenda now, and who their nominees should be,
- 6:03Speaker 4: it should be a moderate like Bill Clinton. The chance
- 6:06Speaker 4: of that, I think is very very limited. I think
- 6:09Speaker 4: tonight the candidate who's been most helped this week, prospective candidate,
- 6:14Speaker 4: is Alexandria al Casio Cortes. There is a Bernie Sanders
- 6:18Speaker 4: lane in the party, and I think she is well
- 6:22Speaker 4: positioned to take advantage of the constituency she and Senator
- 6:27Speaker 4: Sanders have helped build.
- 6:29Speaker 1: That's very scary to me. Meheck, because Doug is so
- 6:32Speaker 1: smart and so accomplished. I look at Yeah, there's no
- 6:35Speaker 1: question that's scared to me because I look at aoc as.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Sure they're having a moment, but she's one of ten
- 6:42Speaker 1: members of Congress to vote against a resolution shortly after
- 6:45Speaker 1: October seventh and twenty twenty three to condemned Hemas. She
- 6:48Speaker 1: and others like this Jamille or whatever her name is,
- 6:51Speaker 1: prior Jell, they all voted against it, and jamal Boone
- 6:55Speaker 1: is gone. Al Green's gone. She's the radical of the radical,
- 7:01Speaker 1: and I don't know how you become fresh and you twice?
- 7:03Speaker 1: Is it enough to live online like she doesn't have
- 7:06Speaker 1: a microphone in her face, but no real power on
- 7:08Speaker 1: committees to be the nominee.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Well, I don't think she's going to be the nominee.
- 7:13Speaker 5: But AOC is having a moment, make no mistake. Even
- 7:16Speaker 5: Gallup polling is showing that majority of Democrats today sixty
- 7:19Speaker 5: six percent believe in the socialism message. So AOC can
- 7:24Speaker 5: win that base all she wants. But remember thirty nine
- 7:27Speaker 5: percent of Americans are rejecting socialism. And that's where we
- 7:31Speaker 5: go back to what are we doing for the working man,
- 7:34Speaker 5: the common man, the anger of affordability?
- 7:36Speaker 3: And I'll tell you right.
- 7:37Speaker 5: Now, once this Iaran war wraps up, we're going to
- 7:40Speaker 5: continue to see gas prices going down and Trump winning
- 7:42Speaker 5: for the American people again.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah, the gas prices are already going down. And I
- 7:48Speaker 1: think that this housing bill is great. I think tackling
- 7:50Speaker 1: healthcare housing along with gas and groceries is the full
- 7:54Speaker 1: affordability structure. Well, Brandon and Doug and the heck thank
- 7:59Speaker 1: you so much for joining.
